Nature & Wildlife Areas
Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium is a sprawling 3650-acre nature preserve nestled in the Bays mountains, offering over 40 miles of scenic trails for hiking and mountain biking. The park features a picturesque lake, diverse animal habitats, and a state-of-the-art planetarium at the Nature Center. Visitors can also enjoy an adventure ropes course with zip lining and barge rides. The park provides opportunities for family outings, solo exploration, or leisurely hikes with dogs.
We had the best time here and everyone was so nice! Very kid friendly and the planetarium was so fun. They have so many up and coming projects for an otter habitat & another habitat I can’t remember. One thing I truly admire about this place is that they’ve rescued a lot of the animals here & saved them, there are birds that can’t fly anymore, animals with 3 legs, or injuries that would inhibit them from a successful life in the wild. I admire that and it makes me want to support this location even more!

We loved going here for field trips as kids, going here on dates, and now going with our friends and family. It's a nice learning experience. We are excited to see the new fox playground that is under construction 🚧. We love the informational barge rides and the guide has great humor. There is a private space you can rent for parties, etc. hopefully for more and newer exhibit in the future. The gift shop is really cute and have great variety, featuring local crafters/businesses. Planetarium shows are always breathtaking to experience.
Amber-Nicole A — Google review
Beautiful park! Well maintained trails, in a variety of difficulty levels from easy to expert. Educational opportunities for the kids. Absolutely worth the small admission charge, and we'll likely get a membership. We did the Lakeside Trail, around 2.5 miles long, with some moderate incline/decline throughout.

I was just visiting Tennessee for the Bristol Nascar Cup Series race, which was on Saturday night. We stayed until Monday, so on Sunday my wife and I visited Bays Mountain and Planetarium. It was awesome. The planetarium show was very educational and the young lady who gave us the show was very educated, informative and a pleasure to listen to. We also walked around and checked out A woman called Gus. (Owl) cool story. The animals were awesome also. Those Grey Wolves look intimidating as heck. I highly recommend this visit. We drove from New Jersey.
Angel D — Google review
We visited on a beautiful late July day. The park was absolutely beautiful. Breathtaking views, plentiful wildlife. 9/10. Will be back again, health and wealth permitting. Keep.up the great work staff!
Robert L — Google review
I love how there is something for everyone. The animals are always fun to see and the wolves were howling this visit to welcome us into the park. The hiking trails are well maintained and well marked which is a huge plus for me since cell service can be spotty. I downloaded the park map prior to our hike, but didn’t really need it since the trails were so well marked. The barge ride is always fun, the operators are knowledgeable and love to answer questions about the park and surrounding wildlife. I’ve yet to visit the planetarium but can’t wait for our next visit so we can do that!
Bianca F — Google review
A perfect gateway place! The calm lake, clear blue skies, and scenic walking paths make it such a peaceful place to relax. Great for a day trip if you love nature.

We came here with some local friends. We enjoyed the trails and walking to see the rescue animals. We went on a barge boat ride and it was informative and fun.

State park
Nature & Parks
Warriors' Path State Park is a 950-acre nature complex located in Kingsport, Tennessee, surrounding the shores of Fort Patrick Henry Lake. It offers a wide range of activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, birding, and golfing. The park features 12 miles of hiking trails and an 8.5-mile mountain biking trail system that is internationally renowned.
Very nice beautiful park. Campground facilities clean and tidy, shady with big beautiful trees. Good variety of hiking trails and various summer programs for kids and grownups. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Park rangers very helpful. A river flows by the park so you could fish from a boat or river bank. Lots of others outdoor activities on Duck Island as well. We booked another stay in the campground before we left.
Kathy W — Google review
Nice park. A little busy and the campgrounds are pretty close to one another. Pretty well kept. Campsite picnic tables need replaced or torn down. Some sites a wooden bench has been constructed over old broken cement and the boards are rotting and have nails sticking up through sitting spots. A wonderful park for the kids. Paddle oats, kayaks, and so forth for rent at the marina. Be advised before entering the marina to order any food or ice cream. The girls at the counter may be deep within a social media stupor on there phones. They might not even realize you are standing right in front of them. It may even be likely you could go behind the counter and make your own food without them even looking up from there phones. Good luck! There's an electric vehicle charging station on Duck Island. A good bit of wildlife seen in the park and some nice trails to hike. A wonderful little camp store and a couple of dump sites for your camper. Really a pretty nice park to visit.
CornBread ! — Google review
A nice state park offering water access, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and camping. There is a marina with boat rentals and food, a disc golf course, and a “Boundless Playground”. Kayaking was nice and it was nice to paddle towards the dam and look at all the houses. There are also places to pull off and shore the kayaks. Hiking was good. The Devil’s Backbone trail was great with a workout on the ascent. It led to Fall Creek and then to Fall Creek Loop Trail. The Overlook Trail was okay but needs some better blazing at the end. The Sinking Waters Trail System was nice and well maintained. The Woodland Ridge Trail is gone and the horse stables are abandoned/burned down. There are two campgrounds. The main campground is older with water and electric hookups. Moody Bluff Campground is newer with full hookups and less shade.
The T — Google review
There is so much to do here you're just going to have to check it out!! Multiple hiking trails and walking paths with abundant wildlife to see and enjoy. I prefer weekdays when it's not so crowded. A marina, rentals, boat ramps, and plenty of picnic areas.
Chadwick D — Google review
Great place for camping or just to spend the day swimming, boating, or paddling around the lake. Free parking and access. Free picnic area. Free playground. Rentals for paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks. Hiking trails with various difficulty and paved paths available for walking, running, and mountain biking. Has a marina with a grill open every day- reasonable prices.
Dan H — Google review
This park is perfect for outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, biking, camping, and boat riding. The trails are scenic, the lake is peaceful, and it’s a great place for families or friends to spend a day
Farzana S — Google review
This is a great option for a simple Elopement or even a Wedding! I've now performed three weddings at the large pavilion over by the playground side and a few elopements by the lake. During the fall, the colorful trees reflect off the water beautifully. When I softly play wedding music through my Bluetooth speaker, everyone just walks around the ceremony spot and most just watch and listen to the weddings at the Pavilion. If you want an inexpensive option, this is the place. There's an indoor option as well that isn't expensive either. The couples have either family take photos or hired Amelia Rae photography for family photos. Warriors Path offers so much. You can get married, then eat at the restaurant there afterwards!

Hadn't been to this park in 40 years. It was just as beautiful as I can remember. Plenty of areas for walking, picnics, camping, canoeing, etc. We camped with extended family and had a blast.

Kingsport Carousel & Park is a captivating attraction that offers a delightful blend of local history and artistic craftsmanship. The hand-carved animals and chariots, along with the historical depictions on the rounding boards, provide a magical journey through Kingsport's past. Adjacent to the carousel, Riverview Splash Pad offers a refreshing summer escape for families.
One of the highlights of our last minute trip to Kingsport and definitely a must visit!! The volunteers running the carousel and gift shop are great and carousel itself is INCREDIBLE. My husband and I rode it twice and still didn’t find all the details on the ride.

Loved this hidden gem in Kingsport ❤️💕 I was looking for an activity that was cheap to do with my daughter and this was a perfect find . Will definitely be coming back
Christy S — Google review
We went to a birthday party after hours. No whining, just joy! Adults can ride also. 5 min cool down between rides. Stationary animals/seats available. Bathrooms are available.
Danielle D — Google review
We love the Kingsport Carousel. Everyone is always so friendly. It's only $1 per ride. We go several times each year. The outdoor playground is usually too hot to play in summer, but we like it in the cooler months.
Jessica O — Google review
Nestled across from Food City, Kingsport Carousel and Park has plenty of parking right at the front. Inside there are bathrooms, a little gift shop, and the Carousel. The Carousel is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, but open Wednesdays through Sundays. Each person is $1 per ride. The ride lasts 3 1/2 minutes each time. 5 minute breaks in between each ride. Last ride is at 4:50pm before closing at 5:00pm. Both the lady and gentleman attendants are kind with plenty of information to tell. Some animals will go up and down, some will stay still. (This is good for children who may have a fear of heights) The park is free and right outside of the Carousel, gated and fenced, and has plenty of room for children to play and run around. Definitely worth the stop!
Xo L — Google review
My granddaughter absolutely loves the carousel. She asks to go almost everyday!!!

Allandale Mansion, a stunning 1953 Georgian-style mansion filled with priceless antiques, has been the backdrop for various events over the past two decades. From elegant weddings and art exhibitions to business meetings and Fun Fest activities, this historic estate offers surprisingly economical event spaces. Once a 500-acre farm, it now stands as an integral part of Kingsport's civic and social life. The picturesque grounds are perfect for photography sessions by the pond or during special events like the annual car show.
Visited to look into renting the area for a small wedding. We found exactly what we were looking for at a reasonable price. Can't wait to get married here later this year and for our guests to experience the beauty that this place has to offer as well.
Jeff O — Google review
My daughter got married at Brooke's Pavillion, and she said it was everything she dreamed it would be. The staff were kind and helpful, even ensuring the chairs were all dry after a surprise storm.
April M — Google review
Went to a wedding yesterday at Harvey's Barn at Allandale. I was embarrassed for the couple. The wedding was outside and nothing was cleaned up. Large tree branches laying around, the gazebo had leaves all through it, and the side walk they walked down was not even cleaned off. The reception was up stairs in the barn that was at least 100 degrees. 1 little box fan up there with the very high ceiling fans. Unbelievable for what they charge to rent this place.
Rene R — Google review
This was my family's first visit to the mansion. Was a neat experience. We toured the mansion, the barns, and the activities that were available. There were many helpful staff wherever we went to answer questions. Our favorite spot was the open picnic barn. My Granddaughters had a fun time dancing around in it. Would be a great spot to rent for almost any event.
Bobbi G — Google review
Cool place to photograph, especially around by the pond. Great place for events and activities as well. It is really neat when they open the mansion itself and allow people to tour through the inside. This happened during the annual car show at least when I was there. There's several nice spots to do photo shoots and it's a good place to walk and enjoy the outdoors a but as well. The amphitheater is really nice in the warmer months, too. There's food vendors who come set up and they invite really good bands to come play. Definitely expect to park in the grass most the time when you go, though. This is usually where the trash can painting for Fun Fest happens as well.
Mary B — Google review
This place is amazing. We were fortunate enough to be able to get married in the mansion, and everything was clean and beautiful. We still come to fish the ponds with our little boy 10 years later. Man time flys
Ninjetta — Google review
I just had my wedding at Brooks Pavilion and it was absolutely perfect. The pavilion was perfect for the reception and the ceremony in front of the lake was beautiful.
Susannah F — Google review
I've officiated a few weddings at Allendale Mansion and have loved every one of them. Everyone was very accommodating, the brides & grooms always looked gorgeous and dapper. Adaquate room for activities and plenty of restrooms. I'd gladly choose Allendale again if you're looking for a wedding venue that's in your budget.

I can't say enough about how great their services are. My children and I had a great time. The views are beautiful and the horses are very well trained. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend anyone interested in horse back riding to give them a shot. You won't be disappointed. Their prices are very reasonable and the time bonding with my kids was priceless. Definitely well worth it and I will be back if I'm ever in the area again.

This place is NOT operating. Called the number listed and it belongs to the old owner who stated that they ceased operating permanently last year. Their Facebook has been hacked and they are unable to shut it down or change the information. Whoever is running their Facebook is a scammer and will try to get you to make reservations by paying through Venmo, Cashapp, or PayPal. Someone named Melissa Elsner is who communicated with us and tried to get us to pay online. We went in person and took pictures of the deserted stables.
Holly C — Google review
Took my Scouts here to earn a badge. The staff was so helpful. They went above and beyond. The horses were well cared for and the place was clean and inviting. Will be going back.!
Robin B — Google review
One of only things I think may not have been great was the horses were tacked up and not switched often but the horses seemed to enjoy the trails and the guide was very nice edit: the more I think about it i saw a horse that was tangled in the lead rope when we got there and most of the horses were in harsher bits than normal and the horses withers were twitching alot when we got on clueing to improper tack fit not to mention the tiny fields they had they were TINY and muddy Since going here I have advanced as a rider and learned alot about these little things that aren’t usually noticed that can cause serious stress and health issues later on
Izzy L — Google review
I brought my eight year old granddaughter here today for a thirty minute ride. She had no riding experience and was nervous. Josh was our guide, and he put her horse on a lead, and he did a great job in making it a very enjoyable experience for her. It's a nice mountain trail, and I enjoyed it as well. Money well spent.
Jon J — Google review
Horses r definitely my favorite animal, so I had so much fun! I really enjoyed riding Tacoma!! The trail was a little scary in certain parts, but I just trusted the horse and it was a blast!
Becca B — Google review
My sister was excited to go horseback riding for her birthday and they canceled on us 3 hours before our reservation. Not only did they cancel but it also took about 3 days to even make a reservation because they do not know how to answer the phone so you have to text them. Do not recommend for a reliable service.
Brooke — Google review
I called to set up a ride as a birthday surprise for my 11 yr old daughter, Sarah was very nice over the phone and was able to set up a time. She was upfront with the cost, payment method and available times. We arrived early as I knew that my daughter would like to look around and possibly pet a few horses if they were accessible; sure enough they were and she did. Sarah was amazing, she politely introduced herself and went above and beyond with making my daughters birthday surprise memorable. Sarah asked if my daughter would like to help get one of the ponies , Hicks, ready for some younger kids that were scheduled to arrive later that day. She took the time out to connect with my daughter and that made a remarkable impact with her. The young lady that took us on the trail was just as amazing; I would like to apologies as I'm not able to recall her name. What I did remember is that she's from West Virginia, you know who you are. She took us to the top of the hill, took our picture and made it a day that my daughter and I will never forget. Thank you to everyone that is involved in make memories for those who come to ride.

A great place to skate, scooter, and ride bikes. I love how large it is, allowing many people of different abilities to enjoy it at the same time. The folks there are always accommodating with little kids learning as well. There are bathrooms and a drinking fountain on site as well but the water is usually ambient temperature. Still a really nice park.

Great little skate park for all ages. Met nice people and their pets. Never a bad experience here. One dude skated with his dog when there weren't many people around. I enjoy watching people bike, skate, ride here. Safe location and a beautiful area complete with ball fields for games and practices. Nice visit here. Very relaxing and peaceful. Will return. My daughters boyfriend and I even tried the pump track. He had a lot of fun here.

Took my 11 year old son & his friend to ride their skateboards. They just started learning this year. This park was too advanced for them but they still had a fun time! Came to town to visit son's family for Christmas. Drove around looking Christmas lights walked around looking at the decorated trees from different local businesses. So pretty. I loved seeing the Wisemen on Camels and the Shepherds set up near the Navity scene on different church lawns that made it look like they were traveling to the Manger. Great job on decorating at the church circle and other areas downtown.

Great service. The owner is really nice. My kids passed right out after playing. They also have a place to get food. And for tired parents, coffee. Great place overall.

Pretty cheap compared to other kids entertainment. I was lucky enough to be able to play with my daughter cause she was 3. Loads of fun. It's defintley an exercise. Lol. Also, at 3 she was able to do all of it by herself.

Omg for being so small, this place is such a gem to take your kids to! It was fun and the rounds are small, so it’s actually entertaining. Bring water though!
Nicole R — Google review
A fun time. The putt putt course had an old school or nostalgic feel that added to the great time. The place was very clean and the staff was friendly. It is very affordable. Definitely a must go to place.
Jeff S — Google review
We had a real good time... I was afraid that, after two holes they'd be ready to leave, but no!!! They actually wanted to play the back side of the course.. On Thursdays,it's just $5 a head, and $6 for all you wanna play!!?
