What a special place! Very grateful I could pop in for a few minutes before they closed at 3pm. The organist was showing visitors the instrument. I hope the congregation stays strong and active in their faith.

The church is thought to occupy the site of the Anglo-Saxon Helenstowe Nunnery. The church spire is a landmark of the town. The earliest parts of the church are late 12th- or early 13th-century. Some of the windows are 14th-century, and the building was remodelled in the 15th and 16th centuries. The building was restored in 1869–73 to plans by the Gothic Revival architect Henry Woodyer. Of note within the church are the painted ceiling panels of the north aisle, dating from about 1390 and representing the Tree of Jesse. The church is a Grade I listed building. A memorial tablet depicts the family tree of William Lee (1545–1637), five times mayor of Abingdon, and his descendants. The memorial is referred to in Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat. Around the churchyard are three sets of almshouses: Long Alley Almshouses built in 1446, Twitty's Almshouses of 1707 and Brick Alley Almshouses of 1718. The architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner declared "No other churchyard anywhere has anything like it.

It's a small church located by the river Thames and really close to the city center. The exterior architecture of the church is standard, but the interior is beautiful and different. What makes this church different is the way the pews are situated.

I absolutely adore the architecture of this church. It is STEEPED with history, and the organ is magnificent! The ambience is magical and calmed my soul, so glad I had the honour to visit.

Didn't go inside the church, but the surroding area is quite nice for a walk on a good day. The riverside and the Almshouse are good places around it to walk through.

Nice local church with a spire and a graveyard. They allow you to have a look around inside if there’s no service or event on.

Very nice amazingly committed lovely people. Some lack of community feel/engagement/connection after the services, probably especially for those coming on their own. Very busy and noisy hall. Teaching can be quite heavy and lecture-like. Good Biblical information.

Sunflowers toddler group on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Is fantastic. Lovely atmosphere. Lots for the children to do. Yummy snack for adults and healthy snacks for children. But you can have any snack you want. The team and volunteers are lovely. During lockdown when we couldn't meet they were very supportive. Highly recommended this place.

My wife and I have lived in the Oxford area for ten years, and we have been SO BLESSED by the humble, gracious, and loving leadership at Magdalen Road Church. The church is a body of incredibly gifted individuals from all nations and all walks of life, and they have been so friendly to us! We have found our church home in Oxford, and heartily recommend this excellent church to anyone looking for a sound, Bible-teaching and believing church with a humble, serving and loving heart!

I went to ABC Tots for the first time. I didn't know anyone, got chatting to the volunteers and minister who introduced me to others, was so welcoming and relaxed. Children could flow from room to room and you get a free cuppa, can't go wrong. Thank you.

Went to 35, Ock Street Cafe. Nice atmosphere. Relaxing ,friendly space. Ladies serving wete friendly. Food we had was very nice and made fresh. Was excellent value for money.

The church has a lovely hall which is used by a charity. Nice if somewhat plain hall. I do not know whether it is available for hire.

Although the charity shop no longer functions, the cheap and cheerful, volunteer run café (mornings only, between ten and noon) accepts donations of - and sells - secondhand books at sensible prices. There's an honesty box for your money.

It’s 11:30pm, Friday 28 March, 2025, and they are having the loudest party in the world. I live next door, and my windows are rattling. If they make this much noise on next Friday I will be calling in a noise complaint.

This is an Anglo Catholic church from its foundation. There is incense every Sunday and on high days, although the modern tendency to switch major festivals to Sunday is unfortunately followed. Take a walk around Whittenham Clumps and take is the stunning views across three counties. Around the other side of the left clump is a steep walk down to little Whittenham Church, it's totally unspoilt and full of charm, serenity and contemplation.

And it's even nicer now that me and my lover cleaned it ; vacuuming , fresh flowers and have a look at the cobweb less windows

Historical church next to Milton manor. Set in the quiet Oxfordshire village it’s a well maintained church. Many interesting points of architecture and monuments around the churchyard are significant points of interest for the visitor.
