Cultural center
Palacio Portales is not your average house; it's a stunning mansion with an eclectic style reminiscent of French Renaissance architecture. Built in the early 20th century as the residence of Bolivian millionaire Simon Iturri Patino, this European-inspired structure sits within a vast 10-hectare garden inspired by Versailles. Guided tours and exhibits offer visitors a glimpse into the opulent past of this historic landmark.
A really wonderful tourist attraction. The house of Patiño is quite beautiful on the outside and inside. The gardens are small but nice to walk around. There is also a tiny teahouse towards the back of the house, it's a bit hidden away. The tour guide was very informative and patient. Overall a great experience.

Gorgeous buildings in serenely beautiful grounds. Everything is kept immaculately by a team of gardeners. There are signs telling you which tree it is in front of you. Wander along the gravel paths and relax on a bench or at the cafe at the rear. The main house and other ancillary buildings all have unique styles but somehow they blend beautifully. Be sure to look up to note patterns on the eaves of the main house. Not sure when the tours start as there wasn't one when I visited.

The palace and gardens are beautiful and well worth a trip. It's an easy walk from the centre of Cochabamba. 25 bolivianos for a tour inside the palace, which is only in Spanish. It would be great if it was also in English.

The castle, the museum and the garden are worth it! But the little tea shop Isn’t that’s the only reason I’m Giving it a 4 stars. But we enjoyed the tour our tour guide was super knowledgeable and can’t believe no one has lived in this castle. We did have to wait for an hour for the next tour so try to arrive 10-15 mins early prior to the hour mark.
Bianca A — Google review
Great place to take some photos outside and to get to know the history of Patiño and his family. You have to pay to have a guide explaining and schedule the session some time before the visit. It is worth the time. Recomend

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian is a must-visit in Cochabamba, Bolivia. This colonial architectural gem, dating back to the early 18th century, showcases stunning frescoes and artwork adorning its walls and ceilings. The cathedral also houses an impressive collection of religious artifacts and treasures. Located on September Avenue, it stands as a monumental landmark with a prominent clock tower that can be seen from various vantage points around the city.
It’s architectural one of an example of South America. It’s in the September avenue with nice park. You can enjoy the view or visit inside out. You can’t missed the place there’s a big clock tower which you can see almost every road. When you reach there will be big avenue which you can rest and chill with nice view of cathedral. Go for it it’s a monumental place for Cochobamba

Natural History Museums
The Museo Arqueológico de la Universidad is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. It boasts an impressive collection of artifacts from ancient civilizations, offering a captivating journey through Cochabamba's rich past. Located on the arcaded Plaza 14 de Septiembre, the museum provides insight into the region's cultural tapestry.
Great set of pieces. Small, practical, cheap and a valuable experience.

Amazing Museum! If you go here you can get a clear glimpse of what the life looked like here in cochabamba, I had no idea that this Valley was habitable 3000 years ago... Having different cultures and traditions, different animals and different fossils that you can even find if you just go to the mountain having displayed here for everyone to an actual fair cultural price, there is gems in this museum that great museum's in other parts of the world would crave to have. But I will not give 5 stars, there is a few problems like they don't accept other forms of currency besides cash i tried to pay by qr code and in 2025 i believe is sacrilegious not update to different payment methods, the roof needs a little bit of cleaning the place was before an old bank, they did a great job making the route but there a lack of good illumination and a sense of heavy air because the lack of any sort of A.C (third world i guess?) but i am just being picky about it. I would be great if the staff would be more willing to guide you through the route giving you some extra details, unfortunately they asked if I had any question before leaving the place, they have a amazing collection of musical instruments there and a rare collection of Bolivian music from the past. Overall a great museum with a lot to analyze

(Translated by Google) Anyone would say that the place is small, but definitely with Don René's patience and dedication to explaining, one could take the whole morning or an afternoon to walk through each of the hallways. So full of history and culture from prehistory to contemporary times. The ideal is to take your time and feel like a child and be curious about everything you see. With objects rich in history which give us a look at the past and allow us to interpret how to date there are practices that adapted to colonization and contemporary times. The Cochabamba Bolivia Temple was announced in January 1995 by the First Presidency, with President Gordon B. Hinckley presiding over the groundbreaking in 1996 and dedicating the temple on April 30, 2000. The temple holds deep significance for members, fulfilling dreams and prayers. Visitors describe it as a serene and welcoming place with beautiful architecture and a peaceful garden where one can relax.
It’s like sacred holy place which I really felt comfortable, calm and peace. Very warm and kind staff. Well planned, good and clear architecture. When you aren’t in rush ( maybe better in the rush) go and sit a bit even you can have your lunch inside the garden. You will feel it there even if you don’t believe you have a creator. Thank you whoever thought and built this place. We visit with a friend of mine and we really enjoyed. Go for it
I ( — Google review
Oración dedicatoria por el Profeta Gordon B. Hinckley. (en inglés) O God, our Eternal Father, Thou great Judge of the nations, we come unto Thee in solemn prayer. Our hearts are filled with thanksgiving on this historic day when we meet to dedicate this Thy holy house in Bolivia. How thankful we are for it. It is the fulfillment of our dreams, our hopes, our prayers, our faith. Father, it is beautiful to look upon. Its purposes are profound in their meaning. Here the higher ordinances of the gospel will be administered. Here the fulness of the priesthood will be exercised. In this sacred edifice, as well as in other temples, will be carried forward a work unequaled in all the earth in behalf of those of Thy children who have lived and passed on to immortality. How wondrous are Thy works. How great Thy plan, O God. It is all possible because of the gift of Thy Son, who gave His life in an atoning sacrifice in behalf of all who have walked or will yet walk the earth. And now in the authority of the Holy Priesthood in us vested and in the name of Thine Only Begotten Son, we consecrate and dedicate to Thee and to Him this the Cochabamba Bolivia Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints together with its associated structures. This temple is Thy house, the House of the Lord. It is our gift, dear Father. We present it with love for Thee and for Thy divine Son. Please accept of it and cause that Thy Holy Spirit may dwell here and be felt by all who come within these walls. Father, we dedicate the beautiful grounds on which this complex stands. May they ever speak of the wonders of Thy creation. We dedicate the footings, the foundation, the walls and windows, the roof and the figure of Moroni atop the steeple. We dedicate the Baptistry, the halls and offices, the endowment rooms, the celestial room, and the sealing rooms with their sacred altars. May this temple, together with its auxiliary structures, all be combined into a sacred complex built to assist the on-rolling of Thy work in this great nation of Bolivia. This nation is named for Simón Bolívar, the great liberator of much of South America, who died the year Thy Restored Church was organized. May the incomparable principle of democracy be preserved forever in this republic. Bless the land and its people. May Thy work grow and prosper in this area of Thy vineyard. We remember before Thee the sons and daughters of Father Lehi. Wilt Thou keep Thine ancient promises in their behalf. Lift from their shoulders the burdens of poverty and cause the shackles of darkness to fall from their eyes. May they rise to the glories of the past. May they recognize their Redeemer and be faithful and true Saints of the Most High. May they seek learning out of the best books (see D&C; 88:118). May the enlightenment of education bring new and wonderful opportunities into their lives. May all who look upon Thy house do so with respect. May it be regarded as a sanctified and holy structure. May it never be defiled by unclean and mischievous hands. Bless all who use it that they may be worthy before Thee. We pray for the temple presidency and for the matron and her associates. We pray for all who will serve here in any capacity as officers, workers, or patrons that this house may be sacred to each. Let Thy Holy Spirit touch the hearts of all who govern in the nations of the earth that they may be hospitable to Thy servants, that Thy work may prosper and Thy sons and daughters everywhere have cause to rejoice in their knowledge of the everlasting gospel. We pray for the faithful tithe payers throughout the world. It is their consecrations which have made this holy temple possible. Bless them as Thou hast promised, and open the windows of heaven and shower down blessings upon them. Now, gracious Father, unto Thee we ascribe the honor and the praise and the glory, now and forevermore, and to Thy Beloved Son, our Redeemer, we lift our voices in love and gratitude as we pray unto Thee this day of dedication in His Holy Name, even that of Jesus Christ, amen.

Plaza 14 de Septiembre, the main square of Cochabamba, is a clean and tidy spot surrounded by businesses and restaurants. It's a great place for people-watching during the day or enjoying street food in the evening. The square is known for its historic significance and colonial buildings, as well as being a popular spot to feed pigeons. Visitors can also find an art gallery nearby and capture some beautiful photos of this historic and lively location.
Nice place to look at and to hang around (if you don't mind the pigeons) it has some colonial buildings all around which look really nice, there's also an art gallery on one of the corners. This is also probably the only place on the city you can find rolling papers, filters and tobacco if you like to roll your own cigarettes.

The San Francisco Temple is a place rich in history, transporting visitors back in time. The church and the entire temple exhibit remarkable beauty. With its stunning architecture and intricate details, it captivates all who enter. The Franciscan Church stands out as the most exquisite one in Cochabamba, with an abundance of statues adorning its interior. The altar is adorned with a gilded background that adds to the grandeur of the space.

(Translated by Google) A very beautiful temple with great history of the city of Cochabamba, home of the beloved Franciscan brothers. Its architecture is very beautiful and the altarpiece it has is very old, it has some very beautiful paintings that portray the history of Christ and the brotherhood and its austere characteristics. It also has some rooms that used to be the brothers' cloister and is now renovated and is very beautiful to see its history.
