Stopped in for a breakfast with our dog and wasn’t disappointed. Really lovely veggie breakfast with toast, egg, avocado, haggis, tomatoes, beans, hash brown and toast. The coffee was on point too. Lovely big mug. Will be back.

Very friendly staff. The Full Fox is a lovely all day breakfast and if you need Gluten Free and/or vegan, the caramel and pecan brownies are out of this world

Went with our dog for a family brunch and we all loved it and were made very welcome. The Full Fox breakfast was delicious, and my daughter had a vegetarian version and she enjoyed that too. Great vibe and in a nice quiet part of Carlisle close to the castle and castle car park. Highly recommended..

Great breakfast, especially as I’m GF. Even managed to get some chocolate shortbread to take home back to Huddersfield, as they were GF and dairy free. Very tasty !! Thank you !! The whole experience was well received :)

I was actually really disappointed with this establishment. The menu is clearly listed online as having Gluten free adaptable food, but upon asking staff, I was reluctantly informed that the kitchen was a cross contamination danger zone, right down to the the same toaster being used for gluten containing food....just the other side of the toaster! Which is ridiculous!! I ended up not getting any, food and sitting watching my family eat (who had already ordered) while I had a glass of water. This cafe is definitely NOT gluten free, some food items maybe, but they are contaminated during the preparation/cooking process. If you have Coeliac disease, like myself, avoid at all costs. *edit* After the below comment was left by the cafe to my review, claiming to still be gluten free, I also forgot to mention that in the small print at the bottom of their menus it literally warns of 'low gluten'. An establishment is not gluten free if they are warning of 'low gluten' contamination. As I said above, a cross contamination danger zone. For anything to be gluten free it has to register 20 ppm or less of gluten after the proper testing. Going off the cafes low gluten warning, I doubt they have had their food tested, or maybe did and failed. Still, definitely not gluten free. As for the the staff member in question, he stated infront of both myself and my husband the gluten free bread is toasted 'in a separate side of the toaster', they were literally his words. Offering gluten free adaptable food, is claiming that the gluten free dish is safe to eat. If you can't guarantee that, you shouldn't be serving it.

Went here during trip to Carlisle. Great chilled out atmosphere. Super service. Food was yummy, The American Fox was memorable. The eggs in the eggs Benedict could have been bit runnier. The Mocha was delicious, one of best i've had. Loved the names at bottom of coffee cups. Highly recommended.

Amazing Sunday Roast! Came for my Wifes Birthday with are little Boy and we were blown away with how tasty everything was. I had the starter of chicken goujons with a cheese and BBQ sauce, it was delicious. We both had the roast 10/10 ❤ finished off with cookie dough and the OB sticky toffee pudding. The staff were very professional and polite. Suggesting the burger for are one year old who couldn't get enough if it ! We are looking forward to coming back 😊

Fantastic experience at The Old Bank! We came as a group of foodies with kids and we were very well looked after. The service was quick (we had pre-ordered), the staff caring and helpful and the food was delicious! I had Sunday Roast Chicken and it was a bit dry but my starter (fish cake) and the side of cauliflower cheese was so delicious that it compensated for it. Those who had the roast beef absolutely loved it. Quirky place. Lovely vibes.

We went to The Old Bank for a Sunday Roast, and it was epic! The portions were huge, the meat cooked to perfection and came with all the trimmings. The staff and service were just incredible - all were super friendly, attentive, and really lovely. They allow dogs too, and made a proper fuss of our 2 Frenchies, so we all felt very well looked after. We also had the madras kiev and lasagne bites starters, which were amazing, and also very generous portions. Highly recommend this great restaurant to anyone in the area. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Carlisle!

What an absolute gem of a find! The Old Bank exceeded all expectations – the food was excellent, full of flavour and beautifully presented. The cocktails were fantastic, crafted with real care and creativity. The service was just as impressive – warm, friendly, and attentive without ever being overbearing. Matt and Harry have created something really special here, and it shows in every detail of the experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back again soon. A big well done to the team – highly recommended!

Blown away by The Old Bank! As soon as I read the menu outside I was already interested by the choices the chef had made, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the steak and beef cheek pie and my partner ordered the Chicken supreme, we both cleaned out plates. The decor is quirky and fun and the toilets were even very nice! If I lived anywhere near Carlisle, I'd be here all the time!

4th October 2025 were booked in arrived on time but a large group were in and Obviously did not want to leave when they were meant to . Staff poor at dealing with this and we along with several other couples had to wait 20 minutes before tables cleared and cleaned . During this time I asked for a drink but the waitress wasn’t very clued up and the gin and tonic I ordered she was going to put cola in it !! When it did Come it was drowned in tonic with no taste of gin . This was replaced by a manager .we were looking forward to a great meal as reviews were great what we got was not the best .we ordered a pie which sounded fabulous it came with mash carrots and a sauce all of these were good but the pie was small the pastry dry and the crust burnt and the filling almost non existent very disappointing. We did order a sweet my wife had sticky toffee pudding which she said was excellent and I had a run and raisin dish with banana. It has some sort of pastry as part of it which was not great I found the raisins and the banana but no a taste that would suggest any rum had been In it . Overall I appreciate the place was very busy and the group of approximately 30 persons who overstayed their time had caused problems and maybe we suffered as a result of this but this was a special meal for my wife’s birthday and it was not a great experience

Came in off the street ( very rainy!) and knew nothing about the place. Amazing food - my partner and I shared a first course - risotto - and a main course - steak pie. Absolutely delicious and more than enough for the two of us. Highly recommended!!

£31 for a breakfast muffin, 2 sandwiches and 4 flat whites. Good coffee beans and good milk in the flat whites, adequately made. Friendly staff. I left a thermos here by accident, left a voicemail, and they never got back to me 😔

I honestly think the cuppacino from here was the nicest I've ever had! Even without chocolate sprinkles! I had a full English breakfast and the eggs and tomatoes were the best although bacon overcooked somewhat but when the rest is so good it's easy to forgive. Toilets are nice and clean and there's a baby change area too. Also the seats are ridiculously comfortable. They are quite expensive but well worth the wait and money. I'd definitely recommend. Also all products are shown with any allergens contained shown which is also a nice touch. Vegan friendly Dog friendly Great staff, Great place! Highly recommend. ((Way better than the cathedral cafe who just ignored us and stood about talking and has uncomfortable wooden chairs))

We decided to try this café after my wife read about it in a detective novel! Our espresso coffees were delicious (and free!) and the cake excellent. We'll be going again.

Discover this little oasis down the narrow Long Lane or through the back of the Bookcase bookshop. Cakes and Ale serves wholesome, homemade sandwiches, salads, other savouries, cakes, scones, etc. together with tea, coffee and a small selection of bottled ales. It's all good, but what really sets this place apart is that it's a quiet oasis of calm with an enclosed garden, if weather permits, all looked over by lovely staff. Somewhere to sit with the books you've bought in the bookshop above, or to find sustenance if you're browsing is taking longer than expected!

Lovely little cafe with, most importantly, plenty of vegan options, so I wasn’t bored while my husband spent ages in the bookshop!

My absolute favourite place to escape the world. Armed with a book, hot beverage (or alcoholic one) and something yummy to eat (just look at the scale of that coffee cake in the photo). Im able to cocoon myself from anything knowing I will be left alone to enjoy 🙏🏻

Have been for afternoon tea today with my work colleagues. There was 8 of us which included one vegan. They catered well for all of us. Everything was delicious and we got to take home all that we couldn't fit in 🙂 I have to say it was very good value for money at £17 or £20 to include a large glass of prosecco. We were well looked after and got refills of tea as needed. I'd never been here before but will definitely be back.

Probably the nicest place in Carlisle. Bright, comfortable and spacious inside seating area. Intresting and quirky decor throughout. Relaxing courtyard seating area full of flowers. Tasty range of cakes including vegan options. Attached to amazing old bookstore. Both worth visiting if passing through carlisle (you have to pass cathedral to get there and castle is a 2 minute walk away)

Great cafe, lovely people and fab food. Whilst the name suggests it’s well cake and ale, it have a really nice menu for breakfast and lunch. We had lunch here. It’s both gluten free and dog friendly which is a plus. Really nice atmosphere and décor, down a little alley (Long Lane) and connected to a bookshop!! What more could you want on a damp afternoon in Carlisle?

The best cafe I have ever been to, and I'm 69 !! Wonderful, friendly, generous staff (Tracey and Chris), great food (homemade cakes and scones), in a marvellous book shop. What's not to like?!

Not the best This coffee shop was certainly busy, but I certainly couldn't vouch for it. Not terrible, by any means, but just a bit mediocre. Ham and pickle sandwhich, 6/10, quite dry, not a great deal of flavour, basic ingredients and just not much to it. Bacon bap, 7/10, bacon was alright, the bun was nice and soft, but it wasn't exactly winning any awards for innovation. Also, asked for brown sauce, got ketchup... Cappuccino, 6/10, coffee wasn't really coffeeing. Tea, 7/10, a decent enoigh brew i suppose. Overall, this place does it's job well enough, but if we were to stop by Carlisle again we would choose to go somewhere else.

Love this place. The staff are very warm and welcoming. Food is always good and is great value. I would highly recommend.

I haven't been here in such a long time, and I was glad to see that it hasn't changed one bit. The food is as lovely as it was 20+years ago! It's always busy which I can see why!

Food was absolutely brilliant we couldn’t have faulted it. We are very glad we found this as it’s handy for a simple but hearty lunch. Good variety and something for everyone. We will be back!

Just fab, always love visiting here

A superb little coffee shop hidden down the pleasant back-streets of central Carlisle. Fortunately we visited the place mid-morning with the shop half-full of customers. There's around 12 tables, roughly 5 at ground level and the remainder up four steps - which may prove a little awkward for people who are unsteady on their feet and have to rely on sticks or crutches etc. That said, the shop feels very cosy, fresh and clean. The tables were always cleared of old food, cups and plates within a couple of minutes of customers leaving; and the plastic table clothes were always wiped down properly, with no obvious mess on chairs or surrounding floor. The menus are quite typical for a coffee shop - scones, cakes, sandwiches, soups, hot toasties, full breakfasts. And some of the walls do carry special deals and/or chef's specials. And the good thing is that there is a waitress to take you order at your table. So you can always ask questions or ask for variations to your choice, and they are happy to do that for you. In my case I went for ham & cheese on wholemeal bread (the menu doesn't offer this combo, but by simply asking, they will oblige). I also had the soup of the day (home made thick and creamy vegetable), which was rather excellent! The ham & cheese sandwich came with the usual lettuce, tomatoes & mayo side, but the entire meal was delightful, filling and very tasty. To follow I went for a slice of apple pie and two scoops of vanilla ice cream, and a pot of tea. Again all very nice, especially the pie, which was rich with flavour and very filling! During the hour I spent there the shop was beginning to reach capacity, and yet the three waitresses kept on top of things with ease; always patient, always with a smile on their faces and ready to help when needed. Even though the final bill was around £14 or so I would definitely make a point of coming again, not least for the pleasant staff and surrounds; but also for the quality of food on offer.

Tried here for the first (and last) time. I ordered a full breakfast and a glass of coke. Dirty glass with someone else's lipstick on it. Breakfast came, mushrooms in a sea of oil, tasteless sausage, fried egg, hash brown, and tinned tomatoes, again flooded in juice. Waitress came along half way through with the bacon they'd forgot to put on the plate! Dunno how you can forget bacon on a full breakfast, but they did!!

We called in for a coffee and a fruit scone (which are homemade) after an appointment at the hospital. It is very close to the infirmary on Newtown Road. There are lots of parking spaces to the rear of the cafe and there is an EV charger on site too. There are two disabled parking spaces. The menu is extensive and there are daily specials on a board behind the counter. They also offer a takeaway service. The staff were all very pleasant and the service was very quick.

Always a warm welcome here, staff are lovely, service is prompt and the food is great! Had the special today loaded fries. It was fab, the chips were light and fluffy with a crispy outer and the chicken nice and soft, not overcooked and chewy! Great cakes too!

Food was made to order ,fresh and most importantly for me arrived hot. Very spacious , reasonably priced and friendly Service. It was busy around lunch time but service was quick. Will happily be a returning customer .

Finally popped in to see what the cafe at Linton Tweeds has to offer. A very spacious, clean, and bright café with friendly, helpful staff who clearly had good rapport with the regulars. A good range of sweet and savoury food choices, coffee, teas, and soft drinks, too. The facilities were very clean. Fully accessible with disabled and baby changing facilities. I'm going to need to go back to try the sweet stuff, having opted for the cheese scone and Earl Grey Tea today.

Unfortunately I walked in at 1530 and staff rather unwilling to serve me although advertised closing time was 1600. Perhaps they had had a busy day but I felt very unwelcome. The tea loaf I had was very nice although couldn’t be toasted as kitchen was shut!! Shall not be returning.

Bobbins have done it again 👏 Perfect cake ready for collection. Made exactly to my request. I've used Bobbins for tea party food and birthday cakes. Definitely the best bakers in Carlisle.

My baguette was made with margarine, which is disappointing. A big space, so no issue getting a table. Food is expensive compared to other places in town. Plenty of parking spaces.

A convenient and nice chain cafe. There is plenty of clean seating inside and service is efficient and friendly.

Pleased to say that you can now take your dog into every branch of Costa in the country. Starbucks take note! In the subject of the Costa by the station, my only gripe is *for the love of God get a soft closing door* 🤣

Lovely service definitely need a pint stop before long travel home

Conveniently situated by Carlisle Railway Station, so ideally placed if travelling. Limited parking outside for either 20 minutes or 1 hour using your Cumbria parking disc. This branch has plenty of seating inside, which is very deceiving when looking as its frontage, there's also limited seating available outside. Most of the indoor seating is accessible, as a small section has a step up. The facilities are multi-use, clean, and accessible. This branch is usually kept very clean by the helpful and friendly staff. As with most other Costa branches, it offers a wide range of hot and cold beverages, light bites, snacks, and sweet treats. Don't forget your loyalty card or app.

Staff on were rude, didn’t listen to my order, got it wrong, indicated that was my fault, they looked knackered to be honest so wonder if they’re just overworked without enough breaks. I ended up having to return to the till to pay more for a something extra that wasn’t explained properly to me. Atmosphere in here was a bit grim, won’t be returning.

Really good branch of costa coffee friendly staff and giving this out of townie plenty of advice regarding other branches in Carlisle had delicious slice of lemon drizzle cake naughty but nice usual excellent coffee enjoyed my visit yum yum yummy

Definitely gets the Royale seal of approval. Don't be fooled by the exterior, what looks like a coffee shop bolted onto a gift shop is actually an excellent little cafe bar. The staff are very friendly and bubbly. The food was freshly made, very tasty and well presented. Will definitely come back next time we are in Carlisle.

wanted to share a lovely experience I had at a cafe during my first visit to the city. As I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the staff who kindly informed me that I could sit anywhere I liked. I found a comfortable and spacious corner seat and settled in. The menu had a great selection, but I decided to ask for something not listed. To my pleasant surprise, the staff member responded with a cheerful "yes" and kindly enquired about any allergies or preferences before taking my order. The cafe was bustling with other happy customers, and it was clear that this place was quite popular. The room was beautifully decorated with charming items available for purchase from the attached card shop, and the lighting added a lovely touch to the ambience. It didn't take long for my order to arrive, and it was presented beautifully on the plate, piping hot and ready to enjoy. The atmosphere was so inviting that even after finishing my meal, there was no rush from the staff for me to leave. I paid for my meal and went shopping, but I was so impressed that I returned around lunchtime. I can't recommend this cafe enough to anyone visiting the city. If I have the opportunity to return, this will definitely be my go-to spot. You definitely get the Royal seal of approval

Delicious chunky chips, but the coronation chicken sandwich could do with a few sultanas in the mixture, but the chicken inside it was nice. Not much atmosphere. Could be a lot better, even though it's in a card shop.

The last time we will ever visit this place. Got the order wrong & blamed us. Salad was visibly brown, what I got of a salad anyway. Wasn’t asked by the manager on the desk if the food was okay, so I expressed my concerns. “But you got another one didn’t you” was her reply. Terrible food & terrible customer service.

I had a chicken panini which was tasty, the staff are super friendly and make effort with every table. I still can’t get over the size of the chips!!! Will definitely return here, cute place for a spot of lunch with a great gift shop.

Our first visit to Starbucks Carlisle and we will be returning. First positive I noticed was the extremely generous width of the parking bays, which will reduce the possibility of panel damage to vehicles. As soon as I walked into the branch, it had a good vibe as it was very busy abd buzzing. It was also extremely clean and bright with no queue at the counter. Although it was busy, all the vacant tables were clean and available to use. It was clear that the manager had her finger on the button, as she had all Team members busy, whether it was making drinks or housekeeping. We recently visited a newly opened Starbucks in EH30 and the poor experience tarnished our opinion of the brand. However, Carlisle Starbucks has won us over. Well done Team Carlisle 👏.

This is the first ever Starbucks that we were asked to remove our dogs. The young man was polite but it is next to a Ionity ev charging station en-route to Scotland. We believed all Starbucks were dog-friendly. Not this one. We went to Costa's across the road which is dog-friendly and had lovely coffees and toasties.

No gluten free options so my family weren't able to eat anything here. Dogs aren't allowed, which we found unusual especially for a Starbucks next to a motorway and charge stations. Courteous staff and good coffee though.

Well located off the M6 (junction 44) and A7, well presented, plenty of seating, bright and clean, lots of natural light, with welcoming staff. This is my first visit to this branch for a Mother's Day cuppa and a snacket today. Plenty of sweet and savoury food choices, ham and cheese Croissants for us, with an Earl Grey tea and a huge bucket of hot chocolate and cream!!! On-site parking, accessible as all ground level, very clean toilets too!

Very friendly staff and fast service. Seating is comfortable and place is very open and airy. Lacks cosiness compared to some and can be a bit noisy if full due to openess of area

lady who served us- jade, was rude! she disregarded the fact she didn’t make our coffee correctly, when asked she lied to us and told us it had the right syrups in. very dismissive when serving us and we are often customers, so it’s just disappointing.

Not really a coffee shop, more of a roaster that sells coffee. Stood there for 10 minutes without attention while a guy was scraping a roasting machine. Starbucks or Costa should be better service.

Went for breakfast, just OK. Granola was to be home-made it was out of a packet. There was to be seasonal fresh fruit, there was none. The avacado with bacon and egg was not good value. But an interesting location.

lovely coffee shop, fresh beans and they make their own blends. Been around for over 150 years! They also have a traditional tea shop on bank street selling tea blends. But their afternoon tea is what we go in for.

Provincial coffee shop, roast their own coffee and together with a home baked scone was a really super experience. The ethos of using local Cumbrian supplies really sets John Watts apart. We have joined the coffee club and get a couple of coffees from different origines delivered to the door every month - real treat

We had previously tried to go here on at least 5 different occasions, but each time all tables were occupied. On this occasion we arrived at 11.45 am and were lucky to find there was a table available. It was definitely worth persevering and can now understand why it is always so busy. The food was delicious and freshly made. There was a choice of three homemade soups (2 of which were vegetarian). The BLT served in white bloomer was exceptionally good. Every member of staff we encountered were all so friendly, courteous and efficient.. It is without doubt, in my opinion, the best place in Carlisle for lunch and we have tried many.

A delicious Chicken Caesar Salad! It was absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients and lots of chicken! I can’t praise this unassuming cafe enough, service is top notch, when they had run out of pink lemonade some fresh raspberries were added to my sparkling water, nothing is too much effort and service is always with a big smile. Every customer leaves with a courteous, did you enjoy your food? They always do! Keep doing what you are doing and don’t get me started on the cakes…oh and if a baked potato can be devine they are too!!! Small independent, family run business that truly cares about food and excellent service!

We popped in for lunch the Panini's are well worth the money, larger than expected with a nice side salad and coleslaw. Staff are friendly and happy to help whether you are visiting Carlisle or in town for shopping pop in you won't be disappointed. Just a stone throw away from the Cathedral, Carlisle Castle and Tullie House Museum.

Their food is amazing their service is fantastic. They have created a warm atmosphere that makes you feel welcome and at home. They are always busy which is a testament to their lovely cafe.

Really really great. Had the ham hero and the tomato/pesto soup - partner has an enormous and really well cooked jacket potato with mountain of cheese and beans. 10/10 and all the cakes looked incredible.

Great food, great service and great value for the high quality. Breakfast in particular and the cakes are top draw. I think people need to remember this isn't McDonald's, quality costs money and TAKES TIME, If you want rushed rubbish go elsewhere, Toby carvery perhaps?, otherwise have some patience and some respect for this great local business 👏

Well worth the short walk from 🚂 to have a quick flat white. The 🫘 are as good as you’ll ever have, the table service efficient & friendly and the surroundings are just perfect. Why go elsewhere?

The scones here both sweet and savoury were wow. House Tea was a great too. The place has a character of its own and you can't stop looking at the collection.

Would really recommend the coffee of the month subscription service if you’re keen on trying a variety of roasts to explore. I don’t get through a lot of coffee so the ability to get beans I can grind myself and just 250g a month is perfect - it makes it much more affordable than other roasters. The beans stay fresh in the sealable bag and once ground the coffee kept perfectly in an airtight container. Ideal for my small moka pot. Nothing beats getting it made for you, but hassle-free delivery to your door is pretty close.

The flat white was lovely. The staff were helpful and able to give advice about the coffees and teas (I heard them talking to other customers). It was a nice place to have a break and some food.

If you’re looking for a great breakfast option in Carlisle, look no further! The coffee is delicious (they’ve been doing it for a while) and the food menu is great, using locally sourced ingredients. They have a lot of coffees to choose from for home use as well. Normally I wouldn’t recommend this, but pay a visit to the toilet downstairs while you’re there: there’s basically a whole museum of coffee history and other artifacts on the way down!

Perfect place to kick-start your day ! This deli and cafe hosts a gazillion varieties of teas and coffees .. smelling like a pot of freshly brewed coffee, this cafe is a cosy place with a fantastic ambience! We had their English Breakfast which is served with black coffee, toasted banana bread and hot chocolate .

Classic old-fashioned coffee roasters and tea merchants. Lovely place, but if you really want top quality coffee you would do better to choose one of the third wave hipster roasters

Absolutely faultless I had a flat white followed by a chicken and bacon roast dinner I was absolutely stuffed but though I had at least enough room for another coffee and a piece of cake ginger latte cake was epic would highly recommend a real hidden gem set in a beautiful setting 🙏 thank you

Another visit this time for a delicious breakfast at Crofton Hall Coffee Shop and Eatery set my partner up for the day for a spot of fishing at Crofton Lake. Definitely my favourite place to eat right on my doorstep, plenty of free parking, food unbelievable still working my way through the menu on each visit. Great coffee (Farrer's) All day Breakfast was excellent, egg was perfect. Plus nice walk around the lake.

Finally got round to trying this coffee shop and Eatery. There was a very good selection on the menu and what we chose was delicious. The scones and cakes looked very good, but we were too full to try them. We will definitely be back to sample them. The staff we encountered were all very friendly, polite and efficient. I didn't take any photos of the interior as there were children at some of the tables.

My favourite coffee shop locally, in a lovely rural setting. Always a friendly welcome and very good service. The choice of food is really good and every time I've eaten here I've never been disappointed. It's great to have some different options, instead of the usual paninis and sandwiches, and everything from the soup, to the street food, to the Sunday roasts is really delicious!

Wonky pictures, sparse walls, no relaxing back ground tunes. Over charged after working out the costs later than day (you can add the difference you've made to your Tip Jar). Probably avoid sitting in the tub chairs, unless you plan to eat off your knees or sit Criss crossed legged. Update: do read my comments correctly, as these are observations as a visitor and I had given crofton Hall a 4 star ⭐ and surely a 4 star wouldn't adhere to what you say 'upmost damage' really petty and certainly now wouldn't recommend with your choices

Our experience was spoilt by what should have been a nice family gathering for breakfast. As my son did not like several items for the ‘full English breakfast’ he asked if he could make up a breakfast from the ‘extras’ on the breakfast menu which you pay per item such as bacon sausage etc. This request was met with a sour look and negative response stating the chef wasn’t keen to do this especially at busy times. We didn’t understand this.For example… If my son had ordered a full English breakfast and ordered 3 sausages, eggs, bacon, hash browns on the extras menu it would have been ok?? As it was she stated she would oblige this time but when the order arrived it was wrong and had forgotten the bacon. I ordered brown toast which looked as if it hadn’t been toasted so asked if it could be toasted well… she wasn’t happy and returned it practically the same 15 minutes later…I rejected the order and asked for it to be omitted off the bill as it was obvious by her attitude that she was not going to provide good customer service. Such a shame in an otherwise nice looking venue and which two breakfasts received were of good quality and presented well. Good communication with a friendly approach and helpful with our requests would have made a much more positive experience. Such a shame.

We stopped for light lunch as we had breakfast at 7am. It was just after 11 so they said breakfasts only. Lunch starts at 11.30. As hubby is diabetic he had a breakfast and we decided to wait till 11.30. Chloe who served us never came back although she knew we were waiting. I went up to counter and lady there very helpful. We eventually got our order taken, tuna sandwich and egg mayo sanny. Chloe appeared back and said kitchen were being awkward and wouldn't make an egg mayo sandwich although sliced egg was on menu. I opted for cheese and tomato toasties and when it arrived looked like it had been sitting ready a while. Not good. Hubby said breakfast was good. Staff not helpful, chef rubbish. We ate here lots of times and never had such a bad experience as we had today. One to avoid in future.

Interesting little garden centre with a whole variety of both garden, gifts, clothing etc. In addition an excellent restaurant with a good variety and choice. Quality of food and cakes gets 10/10 from me. Service is first class and can’t fault it. Been several times and always enjoyed would definitely recommend.

We visited today and was really shocked at the staff members. First of all my husband got looked up and down and from then on would only address me, "how is your food" etc. As soon as we were seated the came over and asked what we would like, only been sat down for two minutes and this was before the drinks order! They took my drink order but not my husband's and the coffee was bitter. I sent it back and the lady said the coffee is quite bitter today. But the second one was absolutely fine. The food was lovely, the chefs clearly know what they're doing just such a shame they're let down by the front of house staff.

Great breakfast (again). Steak and eggs on toasted sourdough. Cooked to perfection. Really should try the cakes, but always too full! Next time maybe.

Dissapointing, 11 of us were there today. Three full English ordered no black pudding or toast, when we asked they said oh sorry we ran out, we still paid full price and had no alternative substitute offered. Poor service, the waitress finished our sentences and it was in all a poor experience to usual 🤔

My first visit, I've been meaning to go for ages. Located in St Cuthbert's Lane furthest from the city centre, it's inviting from outside and cosy and warm inside. You're welcomed with a very appropriate Northern theme. I waited to be seated, was given a menu, and time to ask questions before deciding on my treat. I have to say with so many sweet and savoury treats on offer it took some deciding. The cheese scone and skin on fries with Earl Grey tea were the order of the day. Delicious. I will have to return to sample the sweet treats. The atmosphere and decor were fantastic, and the staff were helpful, friendly, and super efficient. You can pay cash or card, and there's a loyalty card for scones and cakes!!! This cafe is accessible and I observed a customer in a wheelchair navigating the premises with ease. A very busy little cafés so you might need to be prepared to wait at peak times.

A very nice busy cafe but I wasn't overly impressed with my breakfast.The food on the plate was lovely and I'm not going to complain about that but I ordered a large breakfast which cost £13.00 plus £3.00 for the coffee and large it was not.If I'd have had a small breakfast for £10.00 and had what was on my plate I would have been happy but the large breakfast for £3.00 more only includes one extra rasher of bacon and I think 1 extra toast.I would have expected for that price another egg at least or some mushrooms or a hash brown even but being brutally honest for a large breakfast I'd want all 3 of those on my plate.i think I'd go back here as the food on the plate was very nice indeed but definitely just get the small breakfast and pay extra for an extra slice of bacon.itll be cheaper.The coffee was very good aswell and a nice atmosphere in there.At 10.00am is was just about full so there definitely doing something right

Easily the best place for lunch in Carlisle. I’ve been eating here a few times a month, even before they moved from the original location. The ciabattas are a really filling option, and it’s worth getting a side of truffle fries if you want that extra savory treat. Speaking of treats, the cakes are amazing as well. I love to take them away for later since I’m usually too full from the lunch!

Excellent food. Staff 1st class. One gripe. To charge £3 for a ramekin of beans and one slice of white bread toast is in my opinion a blemish on an otherwise excellent venue. Poorly costed item

Such a lovely café in Carlisle. The gluten-free cake was so good, I had to check they'd given me the right one. Staff are friendly and I really liked the cafe's aesthetics/atmosphere.

Awesome cafe nestled up a side ally in the centre of Carlisle. Great place for a catch up with friends, or to take the weight off your feet after a morning or afternoon of walking round the shops. Absolutely love the decor and table layout. From the minute you walk through the door you are greeted by the lovely ladies working behind the counter and are seated at your table if you choose to dine in. They have a good selection of food and drinks to choose from. Then there is the abundance of home made cakes that are sure to keep you coming back just to get through the different selections on offer. 😋 I had the I Love café Breakfast and an iced coffee. I followed it up with a millionaires cake ( my eyes are definitely to big for my belly, as I wasn’t able to finish the cake off due to the extremely tasty breakfast) When we arrived we didn’t have any problems at getting a seat, which I think we timed it just nicely as it started to get very busy whilst we were there. They accept both cash and card payments. Although I think card payment is preferred as it speeds up the transaction process. 😊 To the management and staff keep up the good work, we throughly enjoyed our visit today and will definitely be back in the future. 10/10 for food, service & Atmosphere. 😊🙏

Instagram breakfast. Looks amazing, tastes the same as any other fry up. Was disappointed the toast and bacon was rock hard. Enjoyed it though, the coffee was really good. Good selection of cakes, great decor. Nice treat. Would I go every week, no. Quite expensive.

Found this cafe by accident and so glad we did! It is a nice small place, were you can just sit and relax. Their ice latte is the best iced coffee I have ever had! I liked that the ice was broken in small pieces(a smoothie like), it made a drink nice and soft. It was a nice big portion, not too watery for an iced latte but also not too strong. The cappuccino was nice and tasty, but we wish it was a bit more strong. Other than that everything was amazing, would absolutely visit again and recommend!

What a darling place! The servers were so sweet, the drinks were delicious, the sweet potato pakora wrap was tasty, and the chocolate orange cake was divine. (The gf cake was only ok to my taste but everything else was really good.) So glad we stumbled on this place and would highly recommend it! They have free WiFi if you ask for the code.

Found this lovely cafe on the West Walls of Carlisle but I’m afraid we won’t be going back no matter how good the food etc as they have a very obtrusive coffee grinder. The staff seem oblivious to the number of people in the cafe that gave “looks” when it was going!

I went here about 1-2 weeks ago and I wasn’t really hungry at the time but I did get a cookies and cream milkshake. It was really nice! I am moving into Carlisle very soon (about a week) and I might go make this my main cafe. (If I get the hang of the roads leading up to it). It’s a fairly quiet cafe and is really nice if you just want a place to have a break. The workers are really nice as well!

We did not use the hotel services, but we used cafe. The presentation is really nice, we paid £8.25 for the Jake’s potato with prawns and Marie Rose sauce. The potato is perfectly cooked, literally melted in mouth, the sauce is good too, appreciate the amount of prawns that was put in, really good. The cappuccino was not as good unfortunately it was too watery(?). Over all nice experience

Three times we have tried to eat in this cafe !! First time website said it was open , when we arrived it was closed . Second time we arrived to be told they had a problem in the kitchen so couldn’t serve food. We said we didn’t want hot food a sandwich would be fine , they said they couldn’t serve any food and were closing . Third time I rang ahead to make sure it was open , when we arrived we were told all the tables were reserved from 12pm that day, all tables did have a reserve notice on them , why did they not mention that when I rang them at 11am ? We eventually got food in a lovely little cafe across the road , I will be doing a five star review for them . If you want to eat here, make sure you ring first to check they are open , ask if they are experiencing any problems and make sure tables are not reserved, or you could have a wasted journey and be turned away .

Really nice cheese toastie with a great salad. Very friendly staff and clear everyone loves the place. Perfect for a stop on the Kirkpatrick Way cycle route or the NCN7.

Popped into this little gem of a cafe today on the way to Hawick. Had a turkey, cranberry and stuffing panini with mozzarella. Was the best I've ever had. My wife had a tuna jacket potato which was also delicious. So cheap and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Will definitely call again on our return journey

Popped in to cafe for lunch today and very disappointed. The young girl who served us was delightful but the dish I chose was very poor. Had the most disgusting curry ever. Looked awful, tasted awful and I left most of it. When it cooled it was a congealed blob Young girl who took our otder was very apologetic and offered me something else but I declined Felt the owner might have offered some reduction on bill.

An excellent cafe doing sit in and take away.I stopped mid journey and my order was taken promptly and when it arrived it was delicious and very reasonably priced.A great place to stop for a break.

Beware if going into the cafe for a coffee. I ordered a double espresso this morning and was presented with two small cups of coffee. When I queried the reason for being given the two cups was told that a double espresso was two single cups of coffee. A new one on me, must be a Longtown phenomenon or an establishment that needs to review staff training!

The food here is very good but there are days when you truly wonder about the work ethic of some of the staff. I hasten to point out that this is just a few of them, mostly they are very good.

The cafe serves consistently good food, where portions are smaller than in other similar facilities; which is good. The coffee is decent, as is the tea. Parking is excellent, and they now have re-charging points for electric cars, where there is plenty of room for larger vehicles. They staff are polite and they listen, which is more than you find in some similar facilities; the staff are lovely.

Love bringing my little boy swimming here each week. Lovely warm, clean pool and the staff are lovely. Beautiful farm shop with fresh produce that looks and tastes amazing not to mention the little gift shop and cafe. The cafe serves delicious, fresh food. There isn't a particularly extensive menu however it is very nice. Highly recommend for coffee and lunch or afternoon tea and the staff are lovely, always accomadating, pleasant and helpful 😊

Breakfast is nice especially before 1030 for free coffee. A bit pricy for pancakes £11.95 but nice thought. We chose here because of the fast electric charger. Bought Cumberland mango and chutney from the farm shop. I should’ve bought more as it is super good when I pan fry it at home. Wish I know better last few days I could then have it for breakfast. Fully recommend to buy more Cumberland sausage back home.

I came across this place while searching for a charger to charge my car. They have a bank of four Instavolt chargers, all of which are functional. While waiting for the car to charge up, we visited the cafe. The service was excellent, the portions were fantastic, and the mushroom soup of the day was delicious. The kid's cheese sandwich portion was incredibly generous, and the side of chips with skin was perfectly cooked. Whenever I am near Carlisle and need to charge my car, I will not hesitate to visit this place again!

Brilliant place for a cuppa. We stopped here on a journey from Newcastle for a break. So glad that we did. Lovely laid back atmosphere and the food was great. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. They were so kind to everyone and they seemed to be enjoying the work which makes a huge difference. Liked the local art and clocks on the walls to look at too!

We arrived early to be sure of getting a table, as on this occasion we had not booked in advance. There are also a couple of tables available outside at the front. As always, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The menu is extensive and the quality of food is always exceptional. Scones (large selection of flavours) are baked freshly on the premises every day. There is a very good selection of delicious homemade cakes too.....particularly the lemon drizzle cake (which I only discovered today is the recipe of Si King aka Hairy Biker). The homemade sausage roll is also another delight. Their afternoon tea is excellent value and during Covid we had many takeaway afternoon teas, to help support the business through this difficult time. They also offer a takeaway service.

What a friendly little café! I pulled over to get a drink from the Co-Op but saw this place so I'd rather support local business instead. I can recommend the homemade scones and the sausage baguette. One staff member in particular was kind and generous when they heard that I was doing the Round Britain Rally on my bike. The small things make a difference. Thanks very much.

My girlfriend and I are here on Holiday from Denmark, to visit friends, and we must say that both us and our friends are absolutely in love with this place. Such a cute cozy place, with lovely food and very sweet staff. Nothing but nice things to say ❤️

Lovely little cafe, piled high with very tasty looking cakes/scones! Unfortunately didn’t try any but had a couple of sandwiches to take away. They were lovely, well-priced and made very quickly. The staff were really kind and gave a little treat to my dog too. Thank you! 🥰

Housed in the former Warwick bridge post office is a great little cafe called Sally’s. They have a wide selection of tea and coffee and a menu that caters for any visitor. Staff are very welcoming and efficient. Love the decor. You definitely won’t leave here feeling hungry. Throughly recommend this place to everyone 10/10 for food and service

Stopped here for a pot of tea and a cake, well that's not strictly true. We stopped for the tea and i couldn't resist the look of the cakes when i saw them so they got ordered as well. The tea was really good and the cake was excellent. Sitting at the table in the car park was perhaps a little weird but it was our choice to sit outside so i don't think thats really something to complain about.

We cycled from John o'Groats to Land's end and stopped here one day for breakfast which was the best all week!

Absolutely brilliant bronze buffet provided for a function I had organised. Lovely variety of fresh sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, chicken goujons, fresh fruit, cakes, etc, etc. Have no hesitation at all in recommending this establishment for outside catering! Thank you! My last post was from earlier this year. Just had another delicious bronze buffet for a small home function and, again, couldn't fault the food. Great variety of sandwiches, sausage rolls, samosas with dips, etc. Cannot recommend Steve and his team highly enough! Thank you again!

Nice friendly little cafe, just off the main shopping streets. Most people just walk past, but it is worth calling in. The two ladies who run it are lovely and friendly, the food is good and mostly home made and tasty. The cakes look good and they seem to have a lot of regulars that keep going back. If you are fed up with the Costa coffee type cafe's then you could maybe try some of the smaller independent shops, I like to give them a try you are often surprised.

Good bacon sandwich that was served quickly. Decent value for money at £3. Place is a bit shabby with lots of hand written signs. Only take cash. Could have been awkward as I often only have a card and I didn't realise until after I had ordered

Had another tasty lunch here with the hubster, food is homemade and delicious. I recommend the rice pudding. The 2 ladies are lovely and can't do enough for you. Keep up the good work Susan xx

We eat in the Creme Cafe twice a week. Meals are great although l have a panini. So delicious. My husband has had most meals and enjoys them all. The cheesecakes are too, as all the other food is home made. The staff are so friendly and can have a laugh which makes it a great place to eat. We often go in for coffee in an afternoon to have a cake or two..

I was surprised with an afternoon tea for two today, absolutely delicious and loads of choice. I can highly recommend. And the lady was so lovely and friendly. 5 stars all round 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Well, we visited twice within the week long that we were visiting the area. Lovely and polite staff, excellent food and a nice atmosphere. Why not five star, well I would like to see a more traditional farm style building and furniture on the inside.

We are regular customers and generally find the starters/wraps and cakes etc to be very good. However 2 of us today had beef pie, chips and peas served on stone cold plates which quickly made the gravy go cold The peas were just warm. We told the waitress who said she would let the chef know. This is the second time recently we have been served what should be hot meals served on cold plates. Other items such as sandwiches, cakes etc are very good but I won't risk ordering hot food. They need to invest in a plate warmer.

Wanted to stop somewhere before M6 and saw a sign for this place…great find. Really good food and large portions. Quite a lot of tables so guess gets quite busy at weekends. Service was friendly and quick. Nothing to fault it and lovely quiet location . Can’t fault it.

Would have given four stars for this . The amazing array of homemade ice-creams knocked this up to a five. The damson and plum was lovely. The raspberry pavlova was equally as good. The thunder and lightning was an experience but not one I would return to. Will go back to try others . Staff very helpful.

Random stop off and glad we did. Lovely friendly staff with a nice selection of foods. Lots of space inside to eat with covered outdoor space if you have a dog or just want to eat outside. Plenty parking just off of the main road. Must visit if you are passing.

We were greeted by very pleasant staff. The food was superb, fresh and well presented. Highly recommend the cafe.

Took a while for any of the staff to acknowledge we were waiting for a seat even though it wasn't busy. Told that it was only sandwiches and crisps or cake, which was absolutely fine. Ordered a coronation chicken sandwich and a chicken and bacon sandwich. The coronation chicken consisted of about three small strips of chicken and a load of coronation sauce that had been added to the bread after the chicken, most of the sauce fell out when I was trying to eat it. The chicken and bacon sandwich was literally that just some chicken and some bacon. For our first visit and for the price, over £25 pounds for two very basic sandwiches that lacked filling and two hot drinks we were extremely disappointed.

Fairly average coffee shop. The staff were friendly, the food was average, bit pricey like most coffee shops, £3 for a coke, £5 for a milkshake and £6 for what was meant to be a tikka sandwich, though it didn't taste like tikka. And the mint aero milkshake didn't taste like mint aero. In all, disappointing.

Went for too good for back , everything was still in good quality danish pastry was still fresh , tuna and mayo sandwich was nice, cheese scone , fruit scone were excellent heated up, muffins were excellent cake wasn't dry in them . Went in and picked staff were lovely

I now often meet friends for coffee and cake or a scone here. I've made full use of my loyalty card app and very much enjoyed the complimentary birthday muffin 😍 It's reasonably priced and you are never hurried to leave. Friendly and helpful staff who are patient when placing your order. I'm a new customer here and so far have only experienced the takeaway offer. I have to say that the cheese scones and fudge brownies are amazing and dangerously moreish. The staff are wonderful, polite and helpful. I look forward to sitting-in in future.

Unprofessional staff. Poor behaviour. First occasion one the serving staff drop the ordered item on table and tried to serve, I raised hand on it. Next time they again messed with my order. The picture attached.

I got a lot of goods in there I brought brought the stuff home and I enjoyed it the food is very good service is good they have everything you want I love the wraps and I love the cheesecake and under ghetto just great stuff I enjoy eating I never had time to sit down in the cafe I took it home in a carrier bag they're putting cake boxes enjoy outdoor pictures when I get some I'll put it up thanks

Ive been on holiday for the past few days and was in need for a good flat white....after being disappointed again and again at other boutique coffee shops with the top of the range equipment and best beans. This is the perfect example of making the best with what you have. Latte art as a whole isnt necessary but it always an added bonus when it comes to wanting the perfect flatwhite. Texture and taste was amazing, no burnt milk and no soapy bitter tasting coffee. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Just enjoyed a fantastic breakfast, really clean and a generous portion! The staff are so friendly with nothing being too much trouble and always serving with a smile. In the centre of Carlisle, underneath the Tourist Information Centre (and actually the neighbour of a bigger, more well-known coffee chain) is this absolute jewel of a coffee shop. Being a superfan of great coffee, I ordered a Flat White and sat outside to wait. I am really, really pleased to report that my coffee absolutely blew away anything that could be offered next door. Well presented in nicely coloured crockery and with a neat bit of latte art, this coffee was made by someone who clearly loves coffee. A well-balanced, sweet, corto espresso shot carried in well textured milk, it was the perfect start to a day and totally justified the skills needed to make a truly great cup of coffee. Brilliant!

I was going to walk by, but the manager suggested that I give them a try, the Full English was cooked almost to perfection, and they even swapped the eggs to scrambled for me and was well presented and (completely) hot - sadly, not all cafes in the city can manage this simple task... the staff were warm, friendly, and proactive, all-in-all a wonderful experience, slightly on the expensive side compared to other cafes I usually frequent, but can't knock the quality of food presented - worth it? Yes absolutely, give them a try..

We enjoyed our breakfast here! Dog friendly, they brought a water bowl for our dogs. Nice seating area outside, lovely staff and good food 👍😊

Was in Carlisle for a few nights and on my first morning was looking for a coffee shop. Went search for one on Google to check if there were any open at 8 AM. 3rd one down, underneath all the known ones (which I avoid whilst on holiday as I like trying new places), was Espresso Hub. First review said they have the best coffee and my instinct was “oh c’mon, is just coffee”. God I was wrong! Ordered a hazelnut latte and on my first sip, my eyebrows shot up! Sooo good! The coffee is to die for! Smooth, tasty and delicious. Definitely the best coffee I have tasted so far. Call me old fashioned, but I am also a believer of the fact that good customer service improves one’s experience, and this place has plenty of it.

Really nice beef and ale pie with mash and gravy. Heartily recommend it. A real treat in the main shopping square of Carlisle.

We were lucky enough to have a hen party with your selves this weekend ! The cafe was decorated tastefully especially for us and the food was amazing! Staff could not have been more helpful and we all had a great afternoon !! Thanks to Liz and the team for making us so welcome !

Fabulous little cafe at the Post Office just off the village green. We'd been trying to pop in for ages and finally the day fell right (We had manged to order hot paninis for collection once in the distant past, they were delicious). What a wonderful choice of hot drinks and treats, both sweet and savoury. We opted for regular and Earl Grey tea with plain and blueberry with lemon drizzle scones. We will try hard to visit again for a meal, to get the full experience. The staff were brilliant and helpful. Table service and takeaway available. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Lots of chatter and a birthday celebration. There's a proper community feel here. I would recommend popping in just for a cuppa and a chat. Toilet facilities for customers including baby changing. There's a slop to the facilities, but please be mindful that there is an odd step to negotiate.

Holidaying in Wetheral, tried the Posting Pot for lunch. Lovely food (club sandwich so tasty and salmon bagel great). Everything tasted fresh and the accompaniments of crisp, coleslaw and salad were very welcome. No room for cake though after quite large portions😁. Staff very friendly and as it was a nice day we were able to sit outside. Would recommend. Hope to return.

What a lovely place! We were staying at the hotel up the road and stopped by for a quick breakfast. We had a biscoff cake and a lemon/blueberry cake. Both were very delightful!!

Visited this little cafe for lunch for the first time at the end of a 4 day hectic stay at a nearby hotel & I was not disappointed. A very warm welcome greeted me, along with an amazing tuna toastie melt. The cafe has a lovely friendly atmosphere & a good little menu at good prices. Well worth a visit.

Friendly local tearooms and coffee shop, homemade cakes including gluten free. Nice atmosphere, attached to village store and post office. If loose teas were on offer would up to 5 stars. Cakes looked nice but only had drinks so no detailed rating for food given.

Absolutely fantastic. We got cappuccinos and fruit scones with the clotted cream and jam. Everything was so flavorful and amazing. They said the scones were made that morning. Cute little cafe on the inside. Nice selection of treats and cakes but we didn't try any. The employees were the sweetest women ever and they were so welcoming and friendly. Would go daily if I lived in the area.

Very cosy and great choice of products including extensive range of gin. Lovely coffee. The best I have tasted in a long time. Great place to relax when waiting for train...and to wait if your train is delayed - wonderful high ceilings and magnificent fireplaces..and friendly staff...

A cosy little bar on the platform in Carlisle Station that I presume used to be the old waiting room is worth a visit to stop by while you wait for your train. It is quite pricey though, the mulled wine I had was £6.50 but to be honest if I had more time before my train I probably would have had another! 😄

Quiet but friendly. A huge conversion from Carlisle Station former glory with easy access to the platform to London. Check out the bacon roll! Good beer too, rhubarb was on tap when I was there, but would have rendered me incapable with a train to catch. Opening hours are daytime (at the moment), I will update as and when....

A great asset for the station, situated in what I presume was the original waiting room? Lovingly maintained this piece of history maybe a little pricey compared to Wetherspoons around the corner, but boasts a good selection of cask ales including a few craft too. A lovely place to spend an hour admiring the roof workmanship & unwinding before your train journey & worth the few extra pence.

Just had a tea waiting for my train, friendly staff, local independent business. Price good for where it is, but the room is the 5* attraction, So unexpected from the platform. Too many plus points to mention, just call in the next time your waiting for a train or even in Carlisle.

Had a quick pint of Bosun Brewery and a half of Seven Brothers S. M. A. S. H between trains. Both were excellent and the staff were very friendly!

It was a pleasant and cosy place for light food, brunch and lunches. It is also dog friendly with indoor and outdoor sitting at the rear. The garden had beautiful flowers and created a calm environment. Food was good with plenty of options. Inside got a little too warm at one point, eventually they opened the door. It did get busy at peak lunch hour. Location is great, right on the main street in Dalston.

The staff was lovely but the place needs serious cleaning, kitchen showed to busy with flies of which were partly taken care of by fly paper strips which was coloured black with the amount on there. My grandmother had an egg mayo which had a hair in and I found myself with a fly in the bottom of my coffee. Overall awful experience

What a hidden gem! Great food, lovely staff and dog friendly too. Food was fresh and made to order, great variety on the menu too. Lovely to see so many locals being really well looked after staff.

This is a very small ,but pleasant space in what is basically a room in a terrace house located in the centre of a very pleasant village. If is delightfully different. The meals are delicious in my opinion and the service friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is very relaxed and informal. The prices are competitive and reasonable. We tend to book a table as capacity is limited, but is not a requirement. It is not elegant, it is as the name suggests just like being in someone’s house and that is part of its charm. The total experience is consistent and I always enjoy my visits.

Lovely little cafe. Small and cozy. Parking available outside. On entering you recieve a warm welcome. Great selection of foods available at reasonable prices. We had the full breakfast for £7.50. Wow, what a plate full and as a bonus it includes a hot beverage and toast. Lovely atmosphere as everyone involved in any conversations when spoken to. Light and airy decor and cheerful atmosphere, staff are polite and the service is normally reasonably fast. Good coffee and food is tasty esp the cakes but there's not much variety in the vegetarian options, nearly everything is covered in melted cheese which is a bit unimaginative. Tables aren't always wiped down either which irks me as a waitress myself. But overall for a hot drink and snack it's a nice place and very warm and welcoming on cold days :)

It was my first visit and I got the impression it's a nice popular place that I maybe just caught on a bad day.Staff were not rude but they were not friendly by any stretch no conversation and just a general negative vibe. Food wise extremely small portions for the money and my sausages were . cold not the absence of warmth as in actually cold which I can only assume means they have been cooled...which I get ....but for £7 you hope for fresh sausages. Again due to the negative atmosphere I didnt bring this to anyone's attention I ate my cold sausages...( I was starving !) They weren't actually that bad reminded me of being a student and eating leftovers from a party..but nostalgia aside it wasn't worth paying the money for.. shame nice spot,nice space with a well presented menu and a clean space to be. Just needs staff that want to be there or at a bare minimum slightly enjoy human interaction.

Went here today for lunch and WOW!!! Amazing service and gorgeous food. My LG didn't finish hers so we're great putting it in a box for her. Plus the milkshake she got had cream and marshmallows and when she couldn't finish it they put it in a takeaway cup and put more cream and marshmallows on for her. Will definitely be back!!!

A little bit of a let down overall. Bank holiday Monday. We sat for what seemed like 20 mins waiting to be served. Staff weren’t rude but definitely weren’t bothered to be polite Breakfast was small and a little unimaginative but I ate it all. I think they honestly forgot to put the espresso shot in the lattes. I know they’re ‘milky coffee’ but I honestly thought they’d just brought us steamed milk… attention needed to the milk steaming process. I could hear them steaming the milk and it was screeching. More training needing on the barista side of things I think We went to pay and the waitresses just put the price into the sumup machine, pressed ok and walked away.. didn’t hold it up for me to tap contactless or anything. I had to look myself to see if payment had gone through 🤣 I seen it did and we started leaving. If I didn’t say goodbye myself she would’ve just let me go without paying nevermind a farewell.

Pleasant staff, but I have to say the food was diabolical. We had New York Burgers, the burger meat was dreadful, tasted really cheap & served with tasteless frozen chips. We heard a man complain that his sausages tasted awful too. First visit & last . Really must serve better quality to get repeat customers.

Popped in here for a light lunch as got caught in the rain. Two stars as the staff were smiling and friendly and the drinks were hot. Sadly the food was poor. My lasagne was terrible, lots of melted cheese on top, possibly a spoonful of meat sauce in the whole thing. I realised I had a bowl of cheap lasagne sheets and white flour sauce, so left most of it. The salad was poor too. My companion had beans on toast with an egg, the beans were cold and the toast was just got buttered bread, she left most of hers too. Was such a shame, they were friendly, the drinks were good and the counter with cakes and scones looked fab. From reading other reviews it sounds like this place has potential and it's just that a bit more care and pride needs to go into the hot meals.

It was our first time to venture into Carlisle on our was to Scotland as we were quite hungry and wanted to get some breakfast, we went to the foxes cafe but they had no availability for us @ the time, so we went to the chimes! And wow what a great cafe and outstanding breakfast 👌well done to all involved.

Went in today to check the place out with the mindset of coming in this weekend with my family... The place was deadly silent.... i had the intention of getting a bite to eat to check out the menu for the rest of us while sitting outside but overheard the two people outside saying the seats made their bum numb within a few minutes of sitting... £2.30 for a can of pop... That is extortionate prices for just 1 can. I know for certain I won't be choosing this venue for certain.

Called in here purely by chance going between the castle and cathedral. Proper old style café with great food, atmosphere and staff. Had the Cumberland sausage, egg and chips and could not fault a single thing. It's a good job I don't live closer as otherwise my waistband could suffer.

Great tasting food, staff friendly, reasonably priced. We had the soup - I liked how they didn't add too much salt and it had lots of flavour - the shepherd's pie and the sausage egg and chips. Thoroughly enjoyed all.

Service with a smile, and I'm delighted to report that the cheese scone seems to be a new recipe and was lovely. Also coconut and almond slice was delicious. Free tea and coffee with our,'Grow' rewards card. £7 bill. What's not to like?

Have visited several times and each time I hope it will have improved. The main cafe is overpriced and some staff can be curt. Food orders are hit or miss. The smaller cafe serves a reduced range which is tasty. However, my experience there has never been positive. The staff are passive aggressive. Today when I visited with my husband we felt like an inconvenience. The staff were offhand and unhelpful to us and then embarrassed two other diners after us. I have previously attended and served myself scone before getting to the till to be told “we’re not open till 10”. It was 9.58am!!! Poor service and not with a smile. Such a shame.

This is my 3rd visit recently just stopped on the way to Newcastle the coffee shop opens at 10 am so this morning it was 10.05 am all cakes and scones were on display the two young girls said we are not ready yet go to the main cafe . There was a big queue and I noticed a lot of customers like us were having coffee and cake while others were having cooked food the young girls were so busy while the others in the little cafe were doing nothing this is a regular occurrence. I really think the opening times should be displayed correctly and staff adhere to it ,

Wonderful garden centre with a great selection of plants. The plants were so healthy and the veg and herb plugs were wonderful. We also visited the miniature museum which was great fun. Definitely recommend a visit to see what's on display. Grab a magnifying glass from the counter in the basement. Also, the clothing selection in the basement was brilliant with some bargains on sale. So much parking space and the little cafe was great too, though we only stopped for a hot drink.

May we commend the civility and helpfulness of your delivery driver today, who went over and beyond to assist us in delivering the table we purchased. My present disability meant I was unable to assist him in any practical way. With willing staff such as that we will happily continue as a regular customer

Great selection of gift for all occasions. Cafe is excellent good choice of well prepared food. Farm shop for meat etc and a separate fruit and veg retailer. Well worth a visit. We call in whenever we are passing.

I enjoyed spending a number of hours exploring the garden centre. A fully stocked craft area downstairs, outdoor furniture upstairs, and everything in between, in between! The food hall area had a wonderful range of products, most of which were locally sourced, with a fruit and vegetable shop outside the main entrance. There's a restaurant and cafe that are definitely worth a visit. I stopped for lunch, which was very enjoyable with a varied menu available. I used the QR code at the table to access the menu and order. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. I will be taking friends, there's more on the menu I'd like the opportunity to try. The array of plants was wonderful, including an aquatic plant area. There's an aquatics centre that specialises in tropical fish onsite, dedicated areas for wild bird and animal feeds, pet accessories, outdoor clothing, furniture, and much more. There's a large car park available with accessible bays, and the centre itself is accessible. The toilet facilities were ample and clean.

Could not fault this beautiful little cafe nestled in the outskirts of Carlisle. The food was exceptional and made fresh to order. The service was quick, friendly and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble including off the menu ordering. We all left wondering why we have not visited before but we will definitely be back. Can not recommend enough. Support local, support small business, support this amazing cafe!

First visit here with my friend. What a lovely little cafe. Had tea and a treacle scone which was delicious. Pity it's not open on a weekend so I could bring my husband. Definitely be back.

A charming little facility, emphasis definitely on "little" but not the smallest we've visited. This place seems to be something of a Community Hub, (lots of local wisdom for travellers) but that does mean that it can be noisy, busy and a little slow. Which honestly suits me FINE. Staff themselves are friendly and happy to help. The Breakfast is good value and nice quality, (worth the extra for haggis and black pudding if that's your thing)

Heard a lot about this café on CRFM, and as we were attending the hospital, decided to stop by. Quite small inside but lots of character - homely and welcoming. Had a lovely lunch from the specials menu, served by very friendly group of ladies. The meals hubby and myself had were very nice, and plenty of it. Will definitely be back when in the area.

Booked an afternoon tea for two, advised it required three days notice to prepare and £18.95 per head. Gave five days notice for 9/04/25 at 1:00 pm, for two people and name/contact details. Upon arrival was told they new nothing about it, nothing written in the book, nothing cancelled, nothing prepared and so could'nt do it. The lady serving said she was just a neighbor helping out and couldnt do anything about it. A big disappointment because it was supposed to be a special present.

Love this little cafe, friendly service and top notch food. I had a lemon and blueberry scone, it was amazing. I would like to see the cafe open on a Sunday, as the cemetery is a beautiful place to walk and reflect, Having a nice cuppa afterwards would be perfect.

The entrance is flat, but you need someone to open the heavy doors if you're in a wheelchair. That said, the good news is that once inside, you will find room between the tables, AND the isles to move wheelchairs and pushchairs. As you go inside, you will find a chill counter and then a glass serving counter. Here from these two counters you buy what you need. Tea, coffee, soup, iced coffee hot chocolate, milkshakes etc. Then there is sandwiches, pastries, snacks, crisps, salad, biscuits, and small bars of chocolate etc. You can also buy packets of coffee, to take home. Caffe Nero looks onto the pedestrian zone in Carlisle. There are two very large windows in the establishment which let in much needed light. I say this because the light inside is dim, the lights are not very good, but to be fair this could be deliberate - a way of adding atmosphere. I will leave it to you to decide. In this establishment you will find two couches, some small armchairs and many small tables and chairs. You will always find two 'kitchen' tables, so if there is a group of you and your family or friends, you can sit in one place. But this is more than just a cafe, last year Caffe Nero held a book competition, so this establishment is interested in culture also. Toilets are available also, including one that can be used by disabled individuals. Prices in this establishment, do seem to be slightly on the high side, but the quality is good. Outside you can also find some more tables and chairs.

I have been here a few times and the staff are always cheerful and friendly. Great hot chocolate, the good thing is unlike some cafes it is hot!

The prices keep going up but the quality of the drinks do not match. Today I ordered a cappuccino, it came in a latte cup, no chocolate and was pretty tasteless and not particularly hot. Drinks are either scalding hot or just warm. A toilet would be really appreciated as well. On the plus side you can take dogs in and the drinks are better than Costa! And you can't fault the staff for the prices and quality! I just wish we had a Starbucks in the city centre as well!

Follow the queue... Occasionally, there is a little wait, but it's more than well worth it.. This cafe/restaurant has to be up there with one of the very best our city has to offer.. The restaurant is situated on the second floor above the foodhall, it has disabled access via the lift. They offer a well thought out balanced menu that caters for all, the selection of cakes is very pleasing...All food is freshly cooked to order and is of the best quality. The cooked breakfasts and the breakfasts rolls come highly recommended 👌 The staff here are very welcoming and are attentive to the customers even through the busiest of times and the quality and consistency of the food always is exceptional. This is a credit to the clear leadership of the team and of the management.

I've visited the store downstairs several times for hot food and drinks to take away, but today was my first visit to the Coffee Lounge upstairs, which is open 7 days a week. We hadn't booked in advance, but we're seated within minutes. There were options of tables and chairs, booths, benches with barstools, and coffee tables with sofas, our option. Once seated, you order and pay at the till with your food and drinks being brought to your table. There's a good choice on the menu with time limits on breakfasts. I opted for the Cheese Scone, Chocolate Orange Muffin, and Blood Orange Tea. Not disappoint at all. Superb value for money, good atmosphere, wonderful and helpful staff. I was impressed with the meals I watched being served, so I will definitely be going back at some point. Lovely views from upstairs, too. I suspect there are some stunning winter sunrises to be viewed from here. The facilities were very good and clean. The Coffee Lounge is accessible with a lift and a good-sized disabled toilet. I observed wheelchair users in the Coffee Lounge during my visit. There were children's highchairs available and baby changing facilities. We walked today, but Pioneer have their own free car park for customers. A place for everyone to visit and enjoy. I've been for a second visit to thaw out after a walk in freezing weather, fabulous experience, food and drink.

Friendly staff and excellent service, food is superb, normally have breakfasts. Definitely worth trying the eggs benedict. Compared to a lot of cafe the prices are reasonable in comparison to food quality which is always high.

We were spending the night on the outskirts of Carlisle and had a meeting at the Rosehill industrial estate next morning and we came across this utterly gorgeous coffee lounge when looking for somewhere to have a breakfast. We were not looking for anything special so you can only imagine put surprise at discovering this wonderful coffee lounge. There was a queue when we arrived and I remember a guest walking out of the lounge whilst exclaiming, "It is absolutely rammed in there" which just added to our excitement. When we got a table 10mins later, it was extremely busy but all the staff were smiling, serving each guest with courtesy. The hospitality and warmth could be felt as we exchanged pleasantries and placed our orders. We ordered 2 mini breakfasts and a plate of pancakes to share. The coffee was smooth and the food was local, fresh and absolutely delicious. There is a beautiful store on the ground floor offering some of the best of local and national produce. Just check the photos to give you an idea of the scale and offerings in place. Fantastic experience and really looking forward to the next trip to Cumbria.

Awesome little Cafe in the Pioneer Food Store in Carlisle, England. The place is always busy so be prepared to wait for a table. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend.

Saw this place advertised in the Good Food Guide and gave it a visit. It certainly lived up to our expectations and we will be visiting again soon. Thoroughly recommended and really good value for money.

Phoned them for an afternoon tea at short notice after an unexpected visit to Carlisle, couldn't do usual, but what they did provide was excellent and beautifully presented, would def go again, very recommended!

The menu is really diverse, they serve all sorts of food including unique items like a spiced apple scone which my fiancé took out to eat, though I don’t know if that’s just a one off thing. He had the soup special and I had a sausage cheese panini. Both equally tasty. If back in Carlisle will definitely call in again.

Thank you for taking care of us today at the Cathedral Café. As a family visiting from Gloucestershire—by way of Ukraine—we’re quite used to different British accents, so perhaps I should have brought along a phrasebook and my best wellies for a Cumbrian café adventure! We were warmly greeted by Nils (apologies if I’ve misspelled your name, but it certainly begins with N), who was exceptionally smiley, helpful, and patient—especially when repeating instructions for us. The food was delicious, and we felt thoroughly looked after. A small note: navigating the accent differences led to a few moments of light confusion (particularly over fruit cookies versus Cornish pastry!), and my answer about the frittata temperature caused an outbreak of laughter in the queue—which I take as a sign of good spirits all round. The table numbering system was a complete mystery, but I found my way, only to discover the lower level was “authentically damp,” with a slight aroma that challenged even the most robust wellies. Still, the classical music and thoughtful design quite redeemed things. Upstairs was truly gorgeous—a very nice space just beside a huge window, flooding the room with light and warmth. LOVE IT. Do book a table there for the best experience! All in all, an enjoyable visit, made memorable by your charming staff and atmosphere. Many thanks for your hospitality and patience—next time I’ll brush up on my local vocabulary, just in case!

Very friendly staff. The soup was very tasty and the coffee was very good too. Very good value, a lovely cafe and with good weather was great to sit outside and listen to the birds, other nature sounds and watch the world go by 😁 Will definitely be coming back!

That architecture is beautiful. Hats off to the company that manufactured and supplied windows and doors. We enjoyed our visit, excellent coffee, tasty food, nice service, reasonable prices. We will definitely come again when we are in Carlisle.

Delicious scones and tea in a light and warm refectory with great views of the cathedral entrance and Augustinian Priory ruins. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Downstairs seating also in the crypt and outside at ground level. Toilets on both levels. Lift available for wheelchairs/prams.

Very busy when we went but, after queuing to order, the food came reasonably quickly. Went to sit downstairs at first but it was too cold and smelt damp. Definitely not the place to be with pop up tables! The ground floor area is light and busy which is much nicer with views out to the cathedral

Absolutely incredible bookshop, a book lovers second heaven. They have any book you could ever possibly want. Three floors full of second hand books in every condition. There's rooms going off of rooms going off of rooms, a labrynth of crammed bookshelves all for good prices. There's a cafe that does food and drinks with friendly staff. The staff as a whole are super helpful and friendly. 100% couldn't recommend more.

My absolute favourite secondhand bookshop 💕 It's always such an absolute delight to visit, being well-stocked and refreshed, I always pick up a stack of books each time. They've been having a major tidy up and refresh since I last visited so it is even easier to browse the shelves of the excellent stock across genres and formats with books from antiquity to the contemporary, and there are plenty of cosy corners to settle for a short while to view the shelves and take stock of any finds.

The most amazing, spectacular, treasure trove of secondhand books, graphic novels, vinyl, and sheet music you could ever wish to explore. Every room and space is packed with shelves and stacks of books from the cellar to the 3rd floor. There are plenty of chairs dotted around to sit and check out whatever you're interested in. Loyalty card available for the avid reader. Even if you don't really do books, do pop in for a look as you are likely to be surprised with what you find. The building itself and the staircase are worth a gander. The staff are truly amazing. They know where everything is, so if you've not got the time to hunt out what you're looking for, just ask. You can also find a good range of new locally published books by local authors on sale. There's disc zone parking nearby and a pay and display car park to the rear. It's also only a short walk from both train and bus stations. For new books, you pop to the bottom right of the building to Bookends, and if your searching has made you hungry or thirsty through the back of Bookends, you'll find the Cakes & Ale Café where indoor and outdoor seating is available.

Can only give three Stars , middle of the road really. Don't let that be a statement about the place . It looks fab. We didn't have enough time to fully immerse ourselves within the thousands of books , stacked and shelved in rooms and alcoves ,the mere walking around and the thrill of possibly stumbling on a great read is why we arrived here. It's a book worm's paradise. Dog friendly and food is served too, what more could one ask. The staff are immensely friendly. We will return at some point I'm sure ..

Absolutely one of the cutest places! I highly recommend coming to the cafe for drinks and treats. The atmosphere and the service are lovely. I would consider moving to Carlisle just for the cafe and bookstore alone. The outside garden is such an oasis. The perfect place on a sunny or rainy day to get snuggly with a pot of tea and a book!

I was in Asda toilets a few weeks ago /Ladies . The 3 toilets were disgusting 2 full of paper and never flushed the third has no paper in dispenser . The first two soap dispensers had no hand soap in & the place stank. I looked on the door to see the cleaning schedule usually every hour is checked there was no schedule . If the sutures service didn’t have such a long queu I was going to report them . Avoid at all cost

I do my shopping there a lot of stuff I like my daughter works there too she’s been there for awhile she helps me out sometimes and take me there and back it’s a good day out for me I wander around the state as wellI do my weekly shopping later sometime for Daughter because it home for me your photos

Experienced the manager today, how delightful is she! 🙃 stood waiting at a self check out as the two little bottles of milk I couldn’t scan were labeled as reduced. I wasn’t fussed, I was happy to wait for help. I could see the one self checkout assistant was busy doing something. So I stood waiting looking over waiting to catch her when she looks over. Well I locked eyes with miss sour face instead, as she marched over saying “do you need help?” I replied yea if you can. For her to snap back “then you need to press the assistant button” I was taken back a little at the stern, fed up and impatient tone of voice. I didn’t know there was one! God for bid a customer isn’t fluent in using the self check out and needed assistance 😑 almost felt like I worked there and was being told off for not knowing how something works. Just because you work there five days or more a week and know the far end of a fart about how things work doesn’t mean a customer that comes in once in a blue moon does. And on top of that I got a rhetorical question fired at me too 😂 “how are we suppose to know you need help if you don’t press the assistance button?” Errm because I’m not a bloody Asda computer technician am I !? I DIDNT KNOW the damn button existed!!! A little Black and white button doesn’t catch your attention at all. Talk about customer respect and courtesy down the drain coming from the ‘manager’. She sure has the stereotypical attitude of one too. Bad mannered, impatient and tbh feel sorry for anyone working under you. If thats the attitude you give to customers god knows how you treat/talk to staff behind closed doors. But im sure she has her favourites. To wrap it up I know customer service can be stessful and repetitive, I’ve been there. But Jesus don’t bloody take your frustration out on them. Learn to control your emotions. You should have mastered emotional intelligence before you became a manager given the nature of the job role. Everyone else in that store can do it and are more than helpful, so why can’t you? Being so close to the Scottish border my wife was surprised they didn't sell the flat Lorne sausages. Well stocked and friendly staff.

Absolutely fuming. Placed on order said it was arriving then cancelled then arriving then cancelled again!!!. Yet I have been charged the full price and unable to get a refund. Never buying from here again!!!!!!!!

Breakfast is always spot on. First thing we have when we are able to go shopping here (Saturdays). Staff, friendly and food is always good.

Breakfast. No one else in when I went for breakfast. For warm not hot and very average sausage on the small side as was the bacon . Toast only toasted on one side. I have definitely had better for the same sort of price.

They are short staffed most of the time so the food waiting to be sent to table sits they’re getting cold.

Another miserable effort from Tesco, I waited so long for my food my coffee was cold. Also my Aberdeen Angus burger & fries were Bearley warm by the time they arrived, the last time I ate here I was given a full refund due to the lack of fish in the lump of rock hard batter I was served. Lovely garden centre with a great range of plants. Really nice gifts inside as well as yours for the kids and all the usual gardening equipment. The cafe is good, with a decent selection of classic dishes such as panini's, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, salads etc. All of the food is good quality, good sized portions and reasonably priced.

Well the new owners have certainly put their stamp firmly on this garden centre. Can I find fault here ..... if you do you'll have to be looking damn hard. A fresh breath of fresh air just outside Longtown. What have they got ??? It's more like what HAVEN'T they got. I must have spent literally an hour ( after we came out of the Café ) looking around the place. Everything from toy tractors 🚜 to garden sheds and everything in between. If your in the vicinity drop in, and even if your further afield its still worth the visit. I'm just making a plan for my next project.

Great little hidden gem. Come here for a coffee and cake with my son as there is an outside play area. Staff always very welcoming and friendly especially in the cafe area.

Great garden centre, good prices, fantastic helpful staff everytime we have been and helping to load your car. You don't have to get the bulky products they will do for you. It's just a pleasure to shop. It's worth a visit

Lovly visit today took Grandson to see Santa and I got a look at the wide selection of plants and looked around the sheds The staff were friendly and the cafe was clean and the scone fresh and very tasty . A very nice place to visit 💎

Sat in for a few hours doing some work. Had a coffee and veggie sausages sandwich. Later had the lentil and spinach lasagne which came with garlic bread and salad and was very tasty. Service was friendly and prompt throughout. Very reasonable prices which and good value. It was £13 for everything.

This is a nice, quaint English diner. The staff - although she was alone for most of the morning, was good craic - was polite, the place clean, and the Scottish breakfast fantastic. It was my first haggis and it did not disappoint.

Saturday 18th January 2025 Today, we ate breakfast in here --this is a well run clean, well laid out cafe with a cosy interior and atmosphre. The Scottish breakfast and latte was £8.95, and the food was well prepared and tasted nice. Good value for monet cafe, which I will use again when in Carlisle

This is a quaint little place and serve a lovely breakfast. The lady was by herself but cooked most from fresh so not complaining. Very friendly, clean, offer eat in, take away, pre-order, just eat delivery and cater for events.

I love ordering from here! The food is clearly made with love and care. Delivered perfectly, what is supposed to be hot is still hot, what is supposed to be cold is still cold. A real treat! Whether for breakfast or lunch or brunch, I would heartily recommend! Also, special recommendation for the Christmas dinner they do, in the run up to Christmas, it's absolutely next level food, so moreish! I wish you did it all year round ❤

Proprietor was delightful. Wide range of food on offer for breakfast or lunch. Freshly prepared and delicious. Our party of five went back two days in a row, in fact: some to have another go at the full English breakfast (which served as excellent fuel for a long day’s walk on Hadrian’s wall), while others sampled the breakfast sandwiches and the eggs/bacon offering. Anyway, if you’re in Carlisle and you want excellent food, at a good price, with a perfectly charming owner, you must give it a try!

The service I received from Rob today was absolutely amazing, its the little things that make all the difference. He was friendly and super kind. Took time to explain how it works, I went twice in one day and he was yet again, going above and beyond making my experience enjoyable. If only everyone was as kind as he is. Will certainly return again and bring the family. The meal deal is worth it.

Ordered 2 big breakfasts. No fried bread as stated. Absolutely terrible food probably the worst breakfast I have tried to eat. Hash browns were burnt, fried eggs rock hard, bacon hard couldn't even cut with a knife, black pudding chewy like trying to eat cardboard. Mushrooms not even cooked. Never again. Shocking.

I ordered the pick your own items breakfast at £1 per item. Egg and hash brown were perfectly ok. The beans were quite tasteless and I got one mushroom no bigger than a £2 coin. The food was not hot. Even the Latte out of the machine wasn’t hot. Poor value for money I thought.

All time low. 1 star far too high. Read on and you'll see I'm not exaggerating. No service just a machine. You get stuck behind customers who can't work it out you wait indefinitely. Machine not giving receipts. No coffee available today. Ordered bacon sandwich and tea. Tea was self service. Food didn't arrive after half an hour. Practically had to rugby tackle a woman who was taking food to other tables to ask where my food was. She asked what table I was at and walked off. She served some more customers then 10 minutes later brought me 2 full breakfasts. Told her order was wrong and asked for refund. That took 5 more minutes and no receipt. Total time 1 hour. No food. No service. Unapologetic attitude. No stars.

Unfortunately they weren't able to serve hot food when I visited. I ended up eating elsewhere. During the pandemic period this Caffe was very good, sadly its gone down hill recently. Service of look warm food is poor and extremely slow, past experiences have resulted in me doing my weekly shop elsewhere.

The main issue here is either severe lack of staffing or completely inadequate care about running a quite small and mostly empty cafe. I feel it is a bit of both. The food we ordered was incorrect to what we were given. Twice. Then the food we were given was overcooked (to the point where you had to chew your chips 20 times before you could swallow them!) but my main concern is the utter lack of hygiene. Out of circa perhaps 20 - 30 tables we could only find 5 that did not have old, dirty used plates on them. Some even had flies of them, absolutely disgusting to be surrounded by this, the floor was filthy with napkins, food debris and general waste. Service was lacklustre and there seemed to be only one lady at the till that was making no effort to clean the tables, an example being myself asking for my correct order at our table and when i told her it was wrong, she simply walked past the tables covered in food instead of picking some up on her way back to the till. Horrid food, incorrect orders and most troubling was the cleanliness. Would never eat here again.

Not good. Food cold/warm (just), hot drinks cold, no black pudding on breakfast, bacon cold. Very disappointed. Cutlery dirty, no teaspoons. No sauces. No coleslaw on salad. Long wait for food. Expected higher standards for this shop. Won’t go again. The only good I can say is they are clean tables and floors.

£22 for a cooked breakfast and wrap, price wouldn’t be an issue if the food was actually good, it wasn’t. My wrap looked like someone had sat on it and the cooked breakfast was served with rubber labelled as black pudding

Stopped here while my car was having new break pads and discs fitted. Very friendly staff good service and a really nice breakfast. Definitely would recommend.

Thought I'd treat my son and I to a breakfast after a long week and boy am glad I did! The portions are epic! First time in my life I haven't eaten all the mushrooms!! The teacup is practically bigger than my face and the teapot too! Huge portions! Very reasonably priced and the food was delicious!!! We really struggled to eat it all but we did our best! Seating area within his limited as it also serves as a post office and shop too so lots of comings and goings however, definitely recommend if you're feeling hungry!

We ordered a vanilla slice and a granola and strawberry breakfast pot, both were fresh and homemade. The soup here is to die for, especially the potato and parsnip one.

Called in after google search. Appears basic but very busy on takeaway. I decided to eat in. Amazing menu but settled for porridge with honey and fruit. Absolutely delicious. I also went to the bakery. Again amazing. Pity I’m only a visitor as I would be a regular.

I took my husband and my friend here for lunch today. My friend has a condition which means that he needs a soft diet. As always they came up trumps and blended a delicious soup for him. For the first time in a long while he managed to eat the whole bowl full and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband and myself had a baked potato with cheese and salad. Both delicious. Clean plates all round. Reasonably priced and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be coming back again.

(Am reviewing the whole northbound services, not Costa at all)... There was at least less queuing than last week, at 11:30am Saturday. 👍 Burger King was grossly overpriced, at £10 for a standard Bacon Double Cheeseburger meal + onion rings, but then they wanted 20p extra for BBQ sauce! 👎👎 Greggs had no hot food, bacon rolls are 'morning only' so they stopped serving them at 11am, the cheese & onion pasties were cold as they don't do 'hot holding'. 🤦🏻‍♂️👎👎 Not stopping there again for food.

This was the worst Latte I have ever had. The Chai Latte was not much better. It tasted like water with a hint of coffee and some milk. They were quick on the order and making the drink, but they made bad drinks.

Possibly the worst Costa I have ever been in longest wait ever then the order was wrong and the 2 girls serving were more interested in talking to each other.

It was the festive season with a queue to Greggs, running out of food, and no alt milk. Somehow Andrei at the till kept a smile on his face and that of the other staff. Absolutely stellar team who made my day (and an excellent latte too!)

My wife used her Virgin card for 2 cafe lattes a hot chocolate and a peach bubble tea. She was told several times her card had not taken, Cost was £23.65. Because of this my grandson paid the £23.65 with his apple phone banking app. On checking her account today £23.65 has been deducted from her account. At the time my wife did suggest payment had gone through but staff member insisted it had not. On returning from holiday I will take this up further as it is totally unsatisfactory.

Stopped at 7:40am on a Saturday morning. 4 behind the counter. I was the only person in the queue and stood for 5 min waiting to be served. One chatting to a Gregg’s staff member. One watching videos on a mobile and the other 2 doing nothing. Coffee wasn’t great and had that burnt taste.

Staff overfilled my small latte so much that when I got back to my car to drink it I took the lid off to stir it and the extremely hot coffee spilled over and scalded my hand and leg. I had to jump out of the car door to get the coffee off my leg. Not a great thing to happen in the middle of a journey and I’m glad it wasn’t my child’s hot chocolate drink as it would’ve ended up a hospital visit! The coffee was poor quality when I was brave enough to drink it 10 minutes later. Not worth the money and now the added expense of a potential car valet tomorrow too as it landed over the passenger seat and footwell! Do better Costa!!!!

Pretty good experience with the food. Ordered Masala Dosa, Chicken chilly and Mango milkshake. They provided pappadoms with a tamarind chutney for snacking during the waiting period for free which was surprising. The chicken_chilly and the Mango milk shake was really good. Coming to Masala Dosa, We expected one large Dosa filled with masala which is the usual style of a typical restaurant whereas we got two dosas with masala as a side dish along with chutneys and sambar ( I believe it is sambar , tasted not like authentic sambar). We felt the Masala Dosa was overpriced for what they serve. Overall a good experience with the food. Note: They take only cash which was not written anywhere and had to go to the atm after having the food. I will definitely visit them again for the Chicken chilly as I really liked it.

Cafe Isabella 36 Lowther St, Carlisle CA3 8DH This is about my 4th visit. Food is authentic Indian with Rodrigues being the Chef and owner. I had Masala Dosa and Vada Pav. At my request the Chutney was milder than hot. Everything was made fresh, tasted fresh and was good value. I have seen that they got a bad rating over a year ago in 2022, but I saw nothing in the Cafe that reflects that description of poor floor coverings. This cafe needs honest customers who want authentic Indian food.

Absolutely amazing authentic Indian Curries, chippati and Puri breads. Beef Madras a personal favourite. English breakfasts also amazing. Lots to cater to all tastes. And the cakes, omg the cakes are to die for. Absolute little gem of a place. Visited every week since we discovered it. Family ran business, family are all very friendly. They also make celebration cakes to order. Check them out on Facebook. Support your local businesses rather than national chains. Looking forward to our next visit!

If you can’t deliver food why the hell do you even have a menu on just eat and you made me wait for an hour like a poof and haven’t even sent the food . Such a disgrace you should shut your bloody place rather than wasting time.

Always like popping in here to kill time between trains. That's because as Railway Station inflated pricing goes, Pumpkin is actually not bad at all. Always friendly, warm, and welcoming. And good coffee too (they also do alcohol to drink in or take away as you prefer).

Carlisle station is an underrated beauty of old fashioned design from a bygone age. Nothing seems to appreciate it more than this cafe. With it's steam era decor, high ceiling, ornate windows - it's a great place to spend a while. The food at the cafe was much much cheaper than I expected (and used to on trains and stations) and the service was friendly and gentle. Some of the seats are a little tatty but nevertheless this will be my preferred place to wait for a train at Carlisle in future.

Great coffee shop that serves pastries and muffins. A beautiful monument to the past, especially with the flying Scotsman station nearby. Would thoroughly recommend!

Called in for a cuppa and a bacon roll. They should be done under the trades description act. The bacon in the roll did not constitute a bite and as thin as paper. The seating is all burst and torn. In serious need of a touch of TLC, both food and seating.

It's a pleasant enough station café. Nice carved wooden ceiling and big original windows. Doesn't excuse £3 for a small tea in a paper cup, though. If drinking in the option of a mug or cup would be appreciated.

Del's Diner has some lovely haggis and proper Cumberland sausages in, as for a full English type brekky it's tasty and good value. The service was polite and friendly and the staff are friendly too.

I came here to use the truck wash, which wasn't open. Had a full breakfast. Which was top rate for the price. Proper food. Will be going back
