Highly recommend Sanders Yard Bistro! Our group (5 ladies) had hired a house in Whitby for the weekend and wanted to order food in for 1 of the evenings. I contacted Sanders Yard to enquire about outside catering and Sophie was super helpful from the beginning and sent me loads of suggestions. Sophie delivered the food to the house for us, it all came boxed and labelled up. The food was delicious and great value for money! We couldn't eat it all on the first evening, so we had it again on the second day. Thanks again Sophie for a super service.

Great little place serving cakes and lunchtime type food up until 3pm, after that its coffee and cakes only. They serge beer but its bottles only. I had the the Moroccan hummus with pitta bread and it was really tasty, especially the sweet potato fries from the specials board. My partner had smoked haddock and cheddar cheese fishcakes also off the specials board and said it was very tasty.

What a delightful place to find. Popped in for a coffee. Walked down the alleyway to the door. There you wait for someone to seat you. After only a few seconds were were taken to a table. We wanted inside. The place is like the tardis from doctor who. It's big inside as well having a nice courtyard. Ended up ordering a breakfast as well as the coffee. Glad I did . It was fab. Even the tomato was cooked through. So many places can't cook a tomato. The bacon and everything else was nice and a big plus it's served on a hot plate so it all stays hot.

A good place to retreat for lunch in Whitby. One could ask why all my ratings are on the higher side of the scale. It’s because I only rate those places I would go back to or would recommend to others. I also think all good food, friendly service and comfortable surroundings is enough to earn a 4 or 5… May be I should rate lesser experiences but just feel bad leaving 3 stars or below reviews. Sandler Yard is five stars and highly recommended. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby’s retail shops this bistro offers an extensive menu of well prepared and tasty meals. I have to rate my burger a 5/5. The patty was light and airy and the right ratio of fat and minced beef. I really like that the extras provided on the side so that the burger wasn’t overfilled and prone to falling apart from plate to mouth. I know it’s hard to tell from my picture but it really was a great burger. I was assured by my wife that the warm goat and pear salad was equally as good. Nice and spacious dining room. We didn’t try the cakes as we were full, but there were plenty of choices there. Coffee was nice and strong if you are like me and prefer a COFFEE!

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a bite to eat. It’s up an alleyway but opens up into a pretty little court yard. The inside decor was nice too. We order two platters which was plenty for 4 of us. Staff friendly and welcoming. Would happily pop in here again.

A great find down a narrow alley in the centre of Whitby, across the river on the Abbey side. The town was packed as there was a folk weekend on and around lunchtime all the restaurants etc. were full, however, we found this jem which still had vacancies. We'll definitely be calling there again as the food was fantastic. I had the Moroccan inspired hummus with halloumi, pitta bread and sweet potato fries off the specials board and my partner had Thai inspired fish cakes and all of it was delicious. There was a pretty little courtyard for outside eating or tastefully decorated inside. The waitresses were quick, friendly and efficient. Definitely a place to re visit next time.

If you go to Whitby , please pop into Hetty and Betty's what a wonderful place to go and eat . The menu is great , the food is amazing and the atmosphere in there is lovely . The staff are incredible and helpful. We went for breakfast and it was lovely really tasty and hot and big . The prices are very reasonable and I would have loved to have gone back for the fish and chip afternoon tea . Check their website for the full menu and times of opening, but believe me the food and the atmosphere are second to none the last photo of the afternoon fish tea is not mine but I thought it would show people how good the food is

I really wanted to try the fish and chip afternoon tea, so you have to buy a voucher for this, £45 for 2 people, and then book via email. We booked the last slot of the day which was 2pm, arrived 5 minutes early and was seated straight away. Lovely young lady served us, very polite and bubbly. Food took around 20 minutes to be served, and was really well presented. It was piping hot and tasted delicious, I even ate the mushy peas! 😆 We were asked if we wanted to take the scones home but we managed to finish the lot :-) Would recommend, but definitely pre book.

I was given a voucher for the fish and chips afternoon tea as a birthday present, and we really enjoyed it! The fish was perfectly cooked and the chips were properly traditional, just like my nannan used to make. The choice of drinks was great - my green tea was really tasty. And the scones were wonderfully fresh and fluffy, a perfect end to the meal. We received a very warm welcome, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend Hetty and Betty. We had a lovely time and will be going back!

I had the pleasure of enjoying my lunch at Hetty and Bettys on Thursday. We were a large’ish group arriving 15 minutes early - with an extra person than expected, but we were all warmly welcomed and served quickly. The flakiest of fish in lovely, crispy batter, and the best chips I’ve had in a long time. Thank you.

Hetty & Betty is set away from the main promenade so there is a significantly less of a queue. I waited until after the lunch rush and got served quickly. Honestly, couldn't finish it, but it was lovely. If I am going to criticise I asked for HP sauce and was given off-brand brown sauce with the label taken off, couldn't help but notice. Accept no imitation.

Fantastic food. My wife had the Hetty and Betty "High Tea" on a three tiered cake stand: Bottom layer: Fish and Chips Next layer: Bread and butter, Mushy Peas and condiments (including tartare sauce); Top layer: Scone with clotted cream and jam. My meal: Regular size fish and chips. I asked, "If THAT'S a regular, imagine if they did a Large!" Put it this way, a normal appetite would be ok with the small! The cod fish melted in the mouth, and tasted very fresh. The 'fish' wasn't just a lot of batter either. In fact, the batter was light, non-greasy and was lovely. The chips were not a chippy size portion, but that was ok with me, as I prefer a large portion of fish in proportion to my chips. The chips themselves, were light and fluffy and crispy. My wife and I agreed, our fish and chips meal was one of the best ever, and were certainly "a bit posh," which is what you expect. The staff were warm, lovely; let us sit where we wanted; attentive but not 'in your face'. Was service and atmosphere good? Exceptional; Was the food good? Exceptional; Would we go again? You bet.

Maybe I ordered wrong, but thought it would be grilled cheese sandwich, but got some cheese stuffed inside the bread. The bread was really soft and fresh, so no complaints! Didn't like the milkshake, nothing extraordinary. The interior was nice.

Service felt a bit distant, and no one checked if everything was okay. The bill came out with our drinks before the food had even arrived, which felt really odd. Honestly, the food wasn’t worth the price. There are plenty of better spots in Whitby. The place itself is nice, though, so maybe just pop in for a coffee.

Stumbled across this place out of chance 3 years ago and now is the reason we make a yearly trip to Whitby just to visit Sherlock's for our coffee and scone. The best place we have been to for coffee and scones. Can reccomend both the fruit and cheese but if you had to twist my arm I would go cheese. Especially when they warm them! Decent price as well! On arrival I did feel a bit unwelcomed this time around as the lady did say they were not using the upstairs seating due to short staffed but when we went up there were people sitting up there so didn't know what that was about. Despite that minor issue everything else was amazing. Can't say much more than get yourself a down there. Even more if you like a good coffee and scone!

I've grown up visiting Sherlocks with family over the years and have even queued up in the past as it has been such a firm favourite. I visited over the weekend and was surprised at how easy it was to be seated there on a sunny Sunday lunchtime especially during the Whitby Pirate Weekend. We really enjoyed what we ate, staff were friendly and the decor was just as lovely as it always was. My only criticism is that the menu has reduced drastically over the years - you used to receive a hefty leather booklet with about ten pages in and these days it's merely a clipboard with two printed sides. Nonetheless I'll still keep visiting for the nostalgia and lovely cake.

First time in Whitby and first time in Sherlocks. The food and coffee were lovely. But the staff on the tills ...jesus. So rude and distant and judgemental. As front of house staff are you not supposed to be warm and welcoming? We were nothing but polite start to finish and they made me and my partner feel like scumbags. We are both alternative people dark hair and tattoos and immediately felt judged like we didn't belong there , because we aren't "normies" Sorry we didn't match your perfect aesthetic... We will not be coming back here again, as lovely as the venue itself was! Bit of advice stop being judgemental. Oh and a smile and manners cost absolutely nothing. :) !

The food was as expected, fantastic! Best mushy peas I've ever had in my life. My husband was swooning over the fish and chips, and crab bisque...lol Service was fast and our waitress very pleasant. I had a little trouble navigating the stairs to enter, since I use a cane to walk, but I was very happy to see they had a lift inside to get to the floor with the restrooms.

We had lunch here today. They sat us quickly. They are very helpful. The food was amazing cooked perfectly. The best cod and chips I have ever had. Chips light and fluffy. The batter was delicious and crispy. The cod was super fresh and flaky. And that’s coming from a fishmonger of 17 years. Also had their curry sauce. The best chip shop curry sauce I have ever had. This is one of THE best fish restaurants I have ever visited. It was absolutely packed and we are glad we pre-booked. Considering how busy it was, we were served within 15-20mins. Size of the portions were more than expected. You MUST try the Sundaes too. 10/10!!

Wow! This is such a great spot! It's really popular, but the place is quite big, we waited for 15 minutes without a reservation. The food is so fresh! I really can say that the prawns were the best I've ever had. They were truly a delight. The salmon is really good as well. Fresh and delicious. This was the highlight of our Whitby trip!

We pre-booked to avoid the queue and were seated promptly, though the table was quite small and a bit cramped. Starters were the highlight, especially the goat’s cheese salad and the black pudding bon bons, both packed with flavour. Mains were a mixed bag: the crab and chips were enjoyable, but the salmon salad was disappointing, with the salmon being quite tough. Overall, it was an okay experience, but we’ve had better meals elsewhere in Whitby.

I ordered the Four Fish Platter with Cod, Haddock, Plaice, and Skate Wing. It was my first time trying Plaice and Skate Wing in a fish & chips style, and they were absolutely delicious perfectly cooked with a light, crispy golden batter and fresh flavour. Although the place has a nice atmosphere, I was disappointed. From the moment we sat down at the table We waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order, and when we wanted to do it, we found out that almost everything was already sold out and only sandwiches were left. And not even all the sandwiches, just some of them After placing our order, we waited 40 minutes for two sandwiches and fries. Yes 40 minutes. Unfortunately, the staff seemed unsure what to do. Everyone was doing a little bit of everything.Lack of organization and someone to manage who should do what.

A hidden gem of a cafe on Silver Street in Whitby. Located on a lovely little street and away from the crowds this beautiful cafe in a small courtyard is brimming with atmosphere and charm. A very good menu and the food was excellent. Very quick service and lovely staff. We sat in the courtyard under the biggest fig tree I had ever seen. It was a hot day and this tree provided the most wonderful shade. There is seating inside. If parked on the car parks by the harbour you about 10 minutes away but up hill as is everything in Whitby! However the walk is worth it. This is a dog friendly cafe.

Hidden gem alert !!! A brilliant café for people to take rest after enjoying a whole morning at the Whitby harbour area. The interior design is very soothing. It is the kind of café that you want to stay a little longer to relax and enjoy your afternoon tea. The location is also great. It is even near the Botham's so you can also grab some pastries and cake before you leave. I feel like I am probably the only one who had and will order an avocado salmon salad in this cafe but Jesus this salad is just peak. It's been four months since I visited that place, but I still can't forget the charming texture of the salmon with the yummy cheese and sauce!

A regular place my wife and I frequent when we are in Whitby. The food is hot, freshly cooked and very, very tasty. The coffee is full bodied and large and the tea is made by using tea leaves, something of a rarity nowadays. It is a very comfortable place to sit and watch other customers eat, drink and chat about their day. The service is not too obstrusive and allow time from entry to order at an acceptable time period. We will be back, next time we are in Whitby. Thank you.

Oh my god, I loved their bacon eggs Benedict! HIGHLY recommend. Came for breakfast, everything came out quick, atmosphere was lovely and left in a timely fashion. Everything was lovely and smooth. Americano was great too.

We went here for breakfast. Delicious eggs royale! One of the best I have ever had. My husband had a huge sausage and bacon sarnie! Accompanied by a pot of Yorkshire loose leaf tea! Lovely and friendly staff. Thanks will be sure to visit again next time we’re in Whitby.

Lovely Cafe tucked away slightly from the 'tourist' areas but equally not too far. Had a very tasty breakfast which was of the highest quality, superb poached eggs! would definitely visit again.

An unfortunate first experience at Botham's Tearooms to celebrate my mother's birthday. We preordered the Botham's afternoon tea via telephone days prior. The afternoon tea that was discussed to us was mistakenly The Yorkshire afternoon tea. This caused slight confusion. Nonetheless we waited, and waited and 40 minutes had passed before we eventually received our order. I was accompanied by my two young boys and as you can imagine they lack any sort of patience. The afternoon tea itself was delicious however we had drank our pot of tea before it had even arrived. There was also a very large queue of elderly customers that wished to be seated. I'd suggest in future that tables are on a prebook basis. I'd like to enjoy my food without feeling pressured or bombarded by the sheer magnitude of customers. Finally, on receipt of our bill I noticed that the prices did not correlate to those on their website menu. We were charged £15.25 per person and not £14.95 as shown on the website. I was told that they would not honor the price stated online. This will need to be updated. To conclude, the Tearooms were not well managed and sadly I will not be returning. It was not the experience we'd hoped to receive.

There is nowhere that does cakes better in Whitby, even now I live away only coming back to visit my family I still get bothams deliveries as you just can’t beat them. When I am back home I have to get the traditional traffic light and strawberry tart as they cannot be posted. Wonderfully delicious and fresh always

A very traditional experience! We came here for breakfast and were very impressed with how large the selection of food was. I highly recommend the fruit scones and the hot chocolate, they were delicious! We had a lovely meal and were pleased that it was priced very fairly. The decor was very traditional for tearooms and looks as if not much has changed in the past 50 years! Although this is not to everyone’s taste, our group really enjoyed it! The staff were also lovely and greeted us with a big smile. It was overall, a great experience!

Sweet Perfection! This wonderful tea room has served delicious food to Whitby since 1865. The tea- room has hardly changed since then! Lovely, old worlde atmosphere. A quiet & pleasant place to enjoy the scrumptious cakes and coffee. Immaculately dressed staff, who were so polite & friendly. Our coffees & cakes were out of this world! Fresh, tasty, and incredibly priced for a such high quality product. If Botham's was in London, I would move in!!! Do not miss this wonderful tea room!

We've walked past this tea room a few times, not knowing what a lovely place it was, as we only saw it as a bakery shop. You have to go upstairs to access the tea room (there's a stair lift too for anyone not able to get up them), and once up there, it's quite worthwhile. As we'd already had lunch earlier, we had tea & cake. Very nicely decorated & plenty of space between the tables. Good selection of speciality teas, coffees & cakes.

Wonderful old fashioned tea room! We were served in a timely manner by very friendly and polite staff in comfortable surroundings. We opted for a light lunch of sandwiches. I can definitely vouch for the chicken, cranberry and brie, which was scrumptious. Overall, it felt like stepping back in time a little. Very much looking forward to visiting again.

A dreamy café straight out of Versailles! This place is absolutely stunning, every corner is beautifully decorated with Marie Antoinette vibes, and it feels like stepping into a fairytale. The drinks (especially the coffee and chai!) are so delicious, and the portions are really generous. Plus, the staff is incredibly sweet and attentive. Highly recommend for a cozy, aesthetic experience.

We were enticed in by the sign for Cake & Gin next to Arguments Yard. The Red Velvet and Lemon Cheese Cake were mouth meltingly gorgeous. With our window seat upstairs, we loved the people watching as Whitby visitors strolled by. £19 for two delicious portions of cake and a good-sized gin was reasonable for such a lovely setting.

Love the fact that I could just ask for gluten free options and they have it and that they know what gluten intolerance is. Very tiny but packed. The cake was amazing and so was the scone. Gluten free options available.

Such a lovely cosy tearoom that is decorated so beautifully. I had a cheese and tuna melt and a piece of chocolate cake with a coffee. Very nice food at a reasonable price and nice staff.

Loved the ambience of this quaint cafe. We called in here for coffee after hiking from Robin Hoods Bay. So can only score on the coffee & service. Ordered flat whites, but they were under strength for our taste. The lady who bought the coffee's up the rather precarious stairs spilled one of them, but was most apologetic & went back down for a napkin. The cakes in the cabinet looked amazing & just loved the window displays & flowers & retro feeling of opulence

Very compact downstairs but a few more tables upstairs. Good selection of cakes which were a good, healthy Yorkshire size. Unfortunately just a little bit on the dry side. Coffees were hot and tasty but the latte was very small for a latte. Service was quick and the lady was very polite.

Traditional Victorian styled tea room selling mainly coffee, cake and sandwiches. We sat upstairs were there were little tables in a couple of Victorian themed rooms overlooking the main street and rooftops at the back. My friends had a cake each with their coffees but were disappointed that the cream cakes on display were filled with sugar cream not real cream so they opted for a lemon drizzle cake and a Yorkshire curd tart which they thought were OK but not great.

4th or 5th revisit, over 8+ years. A tradition to visit on our Whitby holidays. Great value breakfast with coffee at £9.00. Classic character for a cafe. Worth a visit. Only 8 indoor tables, gets very busy owing to it's excellence.

Wanted to visit last year but queue was too big…. Passed by with the family this year and no queue so dived in. Met by friendly staff and seated promptly. Order placed and 10 minutes later food was served. All singing all dancing breakfast for a family of four for £31 👌! Although a great price the ingredients of a high standard and cooked perfectly…. Portion size great and Tomato sauce Heinz not cheap vinegar tasting stuff. Well deserved 5/5. I’ll be back!

I had been exploring Whitby for a few days. Looking for a cafe that sold a good fry up and was open- this was around 7:30am on Saturday. Did a quick google search and this place came up. I was a little nervous at 1st to walk in there as there was what would look like working class Yorkshireman, but it’s to be expected and that’s what I wanted! A real down to earth non-judging place. I was welcomed, I sat down then got up again to order my food full breakfast and a nice mug of tea. One of the best hashbrowns I’ve ever had (which was extra).

If you're looking for something vegan, organic, some soya or oat drink or other overpriced almond salad, this place is not for you. Here they sell a proper food and fry ups. Thanks, had a lovely breakfast.

I cannot praise it enough. We visit Whitby a few times a year and I love my breakfasts at the Singing Kettle. Nice portions, good quality produce and great taste. The staff very friendly. Bonus it opens at 5.30am

Found this brilliant cafe down a side street and it’s amazing. The full English breakfast was lovely, fresh and not greasy. Veggie breakfast options are good. The tea and coffees are also great. Lovely friendly staff and locals 😊

Absolutely fantastic. Have been going here for many years. Food brilliant. Mega portions. Atmosphere is amazing. And the Amazing Mr Ross Jeffrey is a phenomenon all on his own!! So .much so we asked Ross and his lovely wife Susie to do the buffet for our handfasting. It was one of the best buffets I've ever seen. Everything we asked for and more. Perfect. Thank you both so much for making our day so special . And to Mommy Jeffrey for the amazing cakes which are available to buy at Lush. So once again. Thanks to Susie Ross and Mommy Jeffrey. Absolutely fantastic little cafe! Food was amazing, the service was the most welcoming I’ve ever received. Made you feel like you were so valued. Visited Whitby for a few days and this was our stop for breakfast before heading home. We ended up staying 2 hours chatting and drinking tea with the owner and regulars! Thank you 🤩

Visited this place with my wife and 3 boys on Sunday morning the 20th July. Fantastic breakfast. Very large portions. Cooked to order so be prepared to relax a little, rest and enjoy the atmosphere. The owner and waitress were superb. Highly recommend that you go out of your way to visit this brilliant cafe.

We visited twice on our little holiday this week, We've woke up at home today missing Lush Coffee. I miss the wonderful teapots and the laughs while waiting for a big breakfast cooked perfectly! See you next year guys we cant wait!

Recently visited here for breakfast whilst in Whitby as it was recommended. I had the Full English & was not disappointed. Food was delicious, portions were generous and prices reasonable. Staff were also very welcoming & friendly. I would definitely recommend visiting here if your in the area and want to start the day with a full belly 😋

A dinky little deli. This shop is like a treasure trove with soo many delights to choose from. There were jams, flapjacks, brownies, cakes, cheeses galore! One of my favourite shops in Whitby. 10/10

The food is amazing! No words can describe the sensational experience you will get from this place. Having booked The Whitby Deli to cater for a private event in Whitby in the summer, I can honestly tell you this place is not to be missed. The staff are super friendly. the food is delicious and just take a look at the insane grazing table they created. A little gem of a place that is owned and run by the most incredible lady.

Food tastes good. However, I was charged twice the listed price "to use their cutlery ". As if this wasn't bad enough, the cutlery doesn't cut through the pie.

We entered the deli, my wife has mobility issues and we were hoping to sit down for lunch. We were completely ignored as staff walked around us as if we were invisible. Even as we turned around and walked out, staff were oblivious. Maybe someone who uses a walking aid does not fit their customer profile?

Lovely friendly and welcoming staff, dog was allowed in too. Vast selection of wonderful products, you could easily spend more than you planned 😉 We also sat in and had a great coffee and a very tasty little vegan pastry roll 'thing' for lunch (sorry, I forget what it was called)

This place was an amazing little cafe for our holiday in Whitby! The staff were lovely and made us want to come back multiple times (which we did). They are very generous with the ice cream scoops and all seem like they really enjoy working there. An overall great place to go for a coffee with an amazing view of the sea.

My favourite place on West Cliff. Too many seaside places cost the earth but this pace is great value, generous portions, with friendly service. Sit outside and take in the great view.

Great little ice cream and beverage cafe in a perfect location. Best lemon tops around, the kids always love to visit here when we're in the area. Highly recommend!

I just love it - it's a real local landmark. I often go for a coffee with my mum and we just sit and watch the sea. Service is kind and efficient, cappuccino is delicious, also great ice cream from Beacon Farm, and generally just lovely spot with the best coastal view.

Googled highest reviewed ice cream with lemon on top and this place did not disappoint. Worth every penny and delicious sorbet. Would come back every day to buy one if I loved here.

This little cafe was really close to our holiday let. We tried it on our first night and went every day afterwards! Lovely coffee, hot chocolate, ice cream and beautiful views. Staff were very warm and friendly too.

It gets a queue for a reason. Cute little place with good ice cream, super fast service, and fizzy cola bottles. What’s not to love. Also has good views and shady seats.

Fantastic food in a relaxed, dog-friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed the Buddha bowls and toasted sandwich with salad, which were both really fresh and tasty. I then had the lemon drizzle cake (gluten free) with coffee, which was also delicious. Thoroughly recommended if you want an alternative to fish and chips in Whitby!

Beckett’s is a small lovely cafe, the people are lovely and they have a very versatile menu. And the food is freshly prepared and delicious.

Weather's is cold and very wet, so the warm welcome and stunning full English breakfast have cheered me up. Never seen such a generous plate of food. Roast potatoes instead of hash browns, and poached rather than fried egg. Excellent! Will visit again next time I'm in Whitby.

I have gluten intolerance and I never get to try anything like fish pie. But the servers were extremely knowledgeable and even without me asking told me that I do not need to worry about cross contamination. Whenever I ask for anything related to gluten in London, people are confused. It's so refreshing to see a tourist town having such know about allergens. The food was great. Generous quantities and worth the money.

Really good fish and chips! They cook their chips in beef dripping, but also have a vegetarian side cooked in vegetable oil. I was a little disappointed in the size of the cod. I ordered the large at £21.95 and it was no different in size, even smaller than some of the mediums I could see on others plates. The mushy peas were excellent, the curry sauce looked bland but was very tasty!

The fish absolutely Very Good. I must say. The Salt And Pepper Squid is SMASHING. I would take 3 orders of squid over the fish it’s that good. And I love fish more than you know. The smoked fish excellent. Mixed plate of seafood very good.

Delicious! We had the most friendly and lovely server called Michelle 😀 It's a very busy restaurant, buzzing in fact. Everything was fabulous quality. Clean washrooms. Well worth a visit!

My favourite fish and chips restaurant in Whitby . Excellent fish and chips. Great service wether your eating in our takeaway. My wife and I had cod and chips. Small for her and a regular for me. They even do a large. Perfectly cooked meaty flakes of white fish and proper chips. Delicious

Delicious fish n chips. Thin, crispy batter around fresh fluffy fish. They leave the skin on the fish which gives it extra flavor. Chips are thick and fluffy. Waitress very accommodating and fast service.

Great location with a terrace overlooking the harbour. Large and spacious with tables spread out - very comfy. Food was good especially the whitebait which was amazing. My husbands white fish was a little overdone but otherwise would definitely return here.

Abbey Wharf is a wonderfully welcoming spot with incredibly friendly staff who make the visit feel special from the moment you arrive. The views are absolutely stunning—worth the trip alone—and it’s great to see access for all, including wheelchair users. We tried the new Craven cod, and it was awesome—plentiful, satisfying, and beautifully cooked. We also had the salmon, which was epic, and the burgers, which the boys loved. I wouldn’t go so far as to claim it’s the very best fish and chip shop in Whitby, but it’s definitely up there. Highly recommended, especially for that amazing view and thoughtful accessibility.

Lively atmosphere, great views. Does the basics on food well. Dog friendly. Staff seem a little over it. Expensive on the drinks and extras. Felt a touch exploited by the cost of drinks really. bar staff had lost the will to live a little… you decide on value, receipt in photo. It’s a reliable and friendly place overall - always busy.

We managed to book a table for our group of 8 and really enjoyed it. There are plenty of seats in the front with a direct view of the sea and harbour and also a lovely big dining area upstairs. The restaurant is located perfectly on the busy promenade where it's very central but not too loud. The service was great and the food well made and tasty. Everybody had a good time!

Staff were lovely, it was a nice spot. The cocktails were okay - not much to the mojitos. For a cocktail bar expected a bit more. The food was good - but for the price it was a bit on the high side. However everywhere around the area the prices were high, but I understand that’s just the current economy. Would come again, but would not drink.

Great little pub. Loads of cocktail options with classic cocktails and ones with a twist. A great selection of mocktails too. The staff are always friendly and happy to see you. Great view of the Abby whilst sat outside and in one of the quieter places of Whitby so there's not loads of foot traffic going past.

Sat outside and enjoyed a lovely mocktail. Spotted this place on our trip last year but it was always so busy which was a good sign. We managed to get a table outside one evening to enjoy a drink. I had the French martini mocktail which was lovely. My partner had the spicy watermelon margarita which well…wow! Look at the photo of it. Friendly staff.

Modern bar directly opposite the harbour so great views, especially sat outside on a lovely night. Didn't eat there so cannot comment on the food but the expressio Martini and Aspall cider were great. Friendly staff.

Lovely place to watch the world go by. Plenty of choice of spirits and cocktails and a really good pint of Guinness too. We will be back on our next visit to Whitby

My wife and I visited last night for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We loved it - the staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. The complimentary homemade bread, hummus and oil was a real treat along with the pallet cleanser between courses. The food and menu choice we thought was exceptional, as was the wine (Chablis). Brilliant atmosphere. A fantastic evening - definitely recommended.

We had the most incredible experience at Ditto and would recommend to anyone visiting Whitby. The food was incredible - probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Special shoutout to the duck starter and pork main - couldn’t fault them and generous portions. Loved the fact it was a small menu that was done to a high standard as opposed to trying to do too much. The intimate size of the venue meant the ambience was really special, and the waiting staff were amazing - so tentative, personable and patient. Served to every single need, and went above and beyond (with free bread, dips and sorbet to cleanse the palette). Will be back if we’re ever in the area!

I booked Ditto after reading the reviews from other customers. We were visiting Whitby for the first time since 2017. It’s a 5* restaurant in a lovely quiet part of town. Warm welcome, lovely professional front of house but with an informal feel. The food is to die for, everything is cooked, seasoned and presented to perfection without pretentiousness. I would advise booking in advance as there are only 8 tables, most for 2 people.

Incredible starter, which was duck confit, very tasty and beautifully cooked. For the main both me and my partner got the chicken supreme. Unfortunately we thought this was bland and lacking in flavour. The chicken was nicely cooked but the sauce just felt like it didn't excite us like the duck did. We had the chocolate cake to share, this was nice tasting but denser than a black hole made of chocolate. I think this is a great little spot,l with limited options in Whitby, scope it out. Imagine the belly pork main would have been much better

The restaurant was recommended by a friend and it was fantastic advice. The food was amazing, the service excellent. One of the most delicious meals I have ever had. I will be returning the next time I am in Whitby. Booking early is essential to avoid disappointment.

What a lovely coffee shop. It was empty when we arrived, but we decided to risk it and we're very pleased that we did. The lady front of house was very welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious. We had the 2 specials and fries. There are even very nice toilets there. I would highly recommend it.

I came here with my family including 4 children. It was a lovely lunch we had! Delicious especially the sea food salad platter! Yum. The children went for buttys and they enjoyed them! I forgot to order something for my youngest and the staff were so gracious making sure she had food ready! We sat outside and it was beautiful! I’m definitely coming back here. The menu and selection of sweet things is large!

A group of us came here after a long walk on the beach. It was a sunny day and we were lucky to get a nice outside table. Good menu of varied options, as well as a selection of cakes as well. I had the bacon brie & cranberry bagel with crisps, salad and coleslaw (from the specials board) and was very impressed. Plenty of fillings in the bagel and good fresh salad. I also got a piece of the coffee and walnut cake and that was really really good too. My wife got a bacon roll which had plenty of well cooked bacon. Great location, great menu, good prices considering what's in the area, and really friendly service. We will definitely be back!

A lovely cafe perched on the edge of the beach. They had some inside seating, some outdoor covered and also done open outdoor seating so there should be something for everyone. We only had drinks and cakes which were delicious but the food being served looked great too. Prices were very reasonable especially considering the location.

Very pricey coffee I must say. And the 'large' coffee cup I was served, is what passes for a normal/regular in most places. A generous 3 as it is nice coffee don't get me wrong. And a lovely location

Falling Foss is Easy to find through Ruswarp, it’s quite a narrow drive off the main road, but easily manageable. Parking was plentiful when we arrived, but was getting busy as we left. It’s a pay and display car park by Ringo, but we didn’t have a phone signal, so paid when we got home. There was a couple of people panicking over paying. The Tea Garden opened at 10.00, so we had chance to have a short look about till it opened. When we got in, we grabbed a table and benches, it was very clean, and slightly sheltered by trees, but wouldn’t be ideal in rain. We went to order our food and drinks, a rather abrupt gentleman was serving. I’m not sure if he didn’t want to be there, or got out the wrong side of the bed, but his attitude was poor, and is reflected in my score. The food was great, and my coffee was lovely (Dairy free latte). The walks around the gardens and woods are well laid out, things to see and explore, it’s definitely for people who are able to walk down steep gravel paths. Pushchairs with care, not sure about a wheelchair. The waterfall didn’t look accessible to go under it, but the views are pretty nice from the fenced area above. A bit of tree twig cutting wouldn’t go amiss, but that’s a job for the forestry commission. We’d go again, but would hope different staff would be serving. There is no need to be that abrupt when we were more than polite. We spent £55, 5 adults and a child that just had bits from our plates.

Loved this place. Had an epic tuna mayo ciabatta and a fairy cake which were very reasonably priced and efficiently expedited also it was quite busy at the time. The coffee was also superb. Would recommend a visit you are in the area.

Fabulous food offerings. The drinks menu is plentiful, the ham salad ciabatta & cheese scone with chutney were delicious and served with a warm smile and all ages catered for.

We had a latte and a decaf tea with a savoury scone with cheese and chutney, and a sweet scone with cream and jam. Very nice. The area is beautiful and there were lots of people there. Well worth a visit.

Stopped here for a rest while on a walk. There's no inside space but lots of outside seating so lovely on a hot day. I had a really good latte, lovely taste and perfectly hot. Also had the Mediterranean vegetable tart (fresh and warm out of the oven) which was amazing. Lovely pastry (not too thick and not too thin!) and plenty of filling and a really god taste. We also got a scone with jam and cream which was really good. Perfectly cooked, didn't crumble while preparing it and very nice taste. Highly recommend this place and we will be back!

Friendly on arrival. Good menu. Nice place and atmosphere. However, par-baked bread with chicken liver parfait. Catch of the day was nice but two fillets, not a whole fish which "catch of the day" suggested. Both mains served with frozen fries. Asked if we enjoyed, we said we were disappointed. Kind offer of a glass of wine if we returned, but we won't.

Amazing atmosphere and very friendly staff and absolutely lovely food (thank you Chef). They whole place has a warm and relaxed decor and vibe, no rush, no drama, just relax and enjoy the experience. A great find that we'll return to whenever we are in the area. I recommend you try it for a quick coffee and cake or their fuller most delightful dishes, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

A very stylish environment with good throws at being great cuisine. Very good staff, well run. A drinks selection a notch above even the trendiest of places, showing a real understanding of modern trends in gins and cocktails while maintaining a very good wine list that will please those that know nothing and pick entry level and equally those that know their stuff and get tradition and innovation affordably. The food was very nice. Of the three of us, two were very happy and one was content. I'll not end on their note because overall everything was very good, but even as one of the two omnivores, I noticed their vegetarian option was not only undersized but a little simple and, according to them, somewhat standard. Not bad. But not exciting like our fish and meat were. So ending on a good note it deserves, the sea bass and beef were handled well with good sauces and lively complementing vegetables. Don't be scared to turn up early and have drinks first in the back room. It's fun with some really quirky decoration. I like this place as does all my family and I think it deserves more custom and I hope it keeps doing very good food.

They have created an excellent ambience in this lovely restaurant. The menu was limited, we were made aware of this upon booking. A choice of 2 starters, 3 mains & 3 deserts. The seafood starter was OK, the goats cheese & beetroot starter was good. Our beef bourguignons tasted OK & were average in portion, although half of mine was virtually cold & the plates were barely warm. I declined the offer to rectify this. The cherry cheesecake tasted just OK & lacked in quantity. The exceptional staff made this a 3 star review instead of a 2 star.

Nice decor and pleasant staff. The court yard was pretty and cosy with lighting and heaters. The food was very disappointing, we both had fillet steak which was over cooked and served with wet shop prepared salad leaves and under cooked French fries. Very expensive at £32 each. The menu was quite limited.

Amazing food! Absolutely loved it! So happy that the first place we could go to after lockdown was eased is this restaurant. Superb service and of course incredible food. One of the best mussels I’ve had as well as the steak. Definitely recommend!!!

Very friendly staff in this "blink and you'll miss it" cafe, tucked away on a corner, less than a minute away from the bridge, with just a front door, leading up the stairs. Nice selection of cakes, traybakes and lots of drinks. They possibly do lunches but we weren't looking so couldn't say for sure. The prices are amazing value too.

Quaint place with lovely staff. Attentive but without being over fussy. The afternoon tea was delicious with a wide variety of tea available. There was plenty to eat too and all of a high standard. It leant towards sweet items, but boy was it delicious. We couldn't get through it all so I was forced to take home some lemon drizzle cake and strawberry shortcake🤣. So glad I did. Magnificent.

Situated half way up the cobbled street heading towards the steps. Very old pub possibly dating back to 1600s. Has been many different incarnation over the years including; a brothel, a morgue, a hotel & a spirit warehouse. Very small inside but with a further 2 small rooms towards the back. A traditional old fashioned style pub with tapas type food. Decent pint beer but not a big selection. Friendly staff.

When you want to sit and relax and have a great pint and food this is the one. Not only is the atmosphere traditionally excellent (no blaring music, simply a quality background ambience) the staff are accommodating and friendly. Spent at least four evenings of seven on our stay in Whitby in this Inn. They welcome dogs but the one I was interested in was the black one at the bar - a smooth pint if ever I had one. Brilliant! Thank you Black Horse.

Nice little local pub great service good choice of real ales didn't eat but they do snacks like cheeseboards and ploughman's and apparently let you take in fish and chips from down the road .. brilliant 😁 everyone was friendly and had a chat with locals.. all good

Awesome little pub in the centre of Whitby old town. Very busy, but it was Saturday night. Beer was good, some decent beers on tap. Great atmosphere, and decent music in background. Good place to meet people and chat. Doorman very friendly too 😊

Cracking little boozer. Got a couple of ales on. Very small bar and a back room which isn’t much bigger. It’s in the old town and has character in abundance. Popped in during the day and in the evening. Nice ambience. Good little chatting pub. Serves yapas whatever that is I never asked unfortunately. Dog friendly. Recommended… 🍻 🐕

Popped in for a coffee/hot chocolate as we was camping near by, the cafe was spacious which is great as we have a reactive staffy that goes everywhere with us! The hot chocolate was delicious and in a lovely big mug! was so wholesome! The staff member brought over a little tray with mini biscuits and sugars choices it was just so cute! Staff was nice, welcoming and polite. If we ever come back that way this is definitely where we will be coming back too! definitely recommend.

Exceptional bagels!!! If wanting something other that only fish and chips then this is the place. Highly recommend stopping here for a bagel and coffee. The bagels were so fresh with toppings I've never seen 🤤 it had the truffle snuffle with italian cold meats, brie and truffle mayo. Best of the lot was the Ploughman's bagel, and let me tell you, they don't skimp on the fillings! And don't skip the sweet treats, the brownie cookie sandwich was the most indulgent thing I've had from a coffee shop, it's was bladdy excellent! The prices were so reasonable and the coffee was great. Will def be back again!!!

Perfect for the weekend city crowd. A refreshing change from Whitby's usual 'ye olde coffee shop' vibe. This cool and well curated space would fit equally as well at home in Leeds city centre. The coffee is good quality and hot (which is harder than you think). The service could be a little sharper, but maybe that's just the coastal pace of life. The cake and pastry selection is freakishly good. And the take-home ground coffee in a hipster tin makes a lovely alternative souvenir. In short, there isn't a better place for a brew in Whitby.

Excellent bagels, coffee, and matcha. And a big variety of sweet pastries. There was a lot of vegan options which is nice. Was a bit hard to get a seat, since it seems to be a very popular place. However, we would definitely recommend a visit.

I wanted cake, who doesn't? My partner bought me what I thought was a carrot cake, but was I think bread pudding frosting, which was absolutely delicious. 😋 I also had a hot chocolate with cream & marshmallows. In the pic I already had a sip from the cup so wasn't low volume of drink. It is a bit pricey, £8.20 , but having cake I thought I would never try, was tasty & I would have again.

Deserved its high rating! Popped in for a coffee, juice and cakes. The cakes were DELICIOUS, if I was hungrier or in Whitby for longer I'd love to have tried some of their menu. Really caters well for GF and vegan options, without compromising on taste!

Great little coffee shop serving bagels with an array of fillings. We were very impressed with the speed, presentation and taste of the bagels. The menu isn’t incredibly large which I think was a good thing. Would definitely recommend coming in morning/ early afternoon and sit outside to get the sun. Coeliac approved. Gluten-free option was lovely.

Had a lovely lunch in The Coffee Shop. Baked Potatoes were delicious and we had to sample the Cherry & Almond scones and toasted tea cakes for dessert. This is the 2nd time we've visited this cafe when visiting Whitby and we definitely will go back again, highly recommend 👌 also it is dog friendly which is always a plus!

Absolutely brilliant! Stopped for a coffee and scones but would love to try all the other options on the menu, and there were a lot of options! The coffee was delicious, scones freshly baked and we had a lovely chat with the owner. Service was welcoming and friendly. I'm so happy we discovered this Whitby gem.

This is the coziest coffe shop around. Could be quite busy, but you wont even notice cause theres no better place to be, soaking up all this cozy vibes, the smell of pastry being baked or fresh cofee being prepared. WOW ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL!! I went here with my sister's for a nice sit down brew and scones nicest scones I've ever eaten in my living existence. Came out warm with a little pot of jam and a little pot of butter- cream was also an option I just don't like cream. Poured over the scones bit into them just wow from the very first bite warm, crumbly just the right amount of butter and the jam just the right amount of sweet absoulute perfection. The pot of tea actually stayed hot it made 4 little cups of tea enough for me and my 2 sister's after they both had their own drinks! all in all we had a lovely time would highly recommend 😊. The staff were so friendly and helpful it was just so cosy and nice sitting here for a while watching the world go by. Need to add everything homemade this was amazing they had a large selection of everything hm soup,hm cakes,hm scones and more.

The younger waitress is lovely. Been in here a few times over the years. Unfortunately my last visit was less than pleasant. The older lady, presumably the owner, was more focused on gossiping than attending to customers. She was also very rude. The sign said closed and 2 customers walked in and asked about it, getting a blunt response of 'well it doesn't really matter does it' Genuinely a very rude woman and she needs to work on her people skills. I absolutely do not care if you are a local and do not like tourists, or if you didn't like a customer from the day before; you do not open a business and treat your customers like that. Very disappointing.

This cafe was without doubt fully worth 5 stars. Dog friendly, very clean and nice atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and food (we had tea, and scones with jam and cream) is very nice and good prices too. Was popular when we were in and only a small place approx for 12 people. Toilets very clean.

Always our firsr port of call on visiting Whitby. Coffee & cake. Both very good. Cake portion size, excellent & they taste great to.

We received a lovely Yorkshire welcome as we both walked into the tea rooms. A nice relaxed atmosphere. The staff and waitresses were very polite and also helpful. Delicious fresh crab sandwiches served on either white or brown bread, with a lovely side salad garnish along with a tub of coleslaw. Also lovely views overlooking Whitby. Most definitely worth a visit if ever you are visiting Whitby.

We stopped by this lovely little tearoom above the jewellers on a very wet Friday afternoon during the Whitby Goth Weekend. It was busy, but there is ample seating, and it has a nice cosy atmosphere. The ladies who work here are very welcoming and friendly. Their cakes look delicious, and their hot chocolate is to die for. I hope to visit again soon to try the food.

Had to come here for a 2nd time during our week away, such a lovely hidden spot! The coffee is the best I have ever had and my mum said the same 😄 the small breakfast is lovely, the sausage was so yummy! The sandwiches are also fantastic. Definitely our new favourite cafe when visiting Whitby ❤️

I can't comment on the food as we only stopped by for a hot chocolate, but the tea room is a very well presented little place, just above the jewellers store. It's no doubt a very historic building, but modernised still with hints of old world charm. The drink was excellent, quite reasonably priced too and the jewellery shop below is a must see for anyone visiting Whitby even if you're just browsing. They have possibly the largest piece of Amethyst I've ever seen.

Excellent Afternoon Tea, highly recommend. £35 for two sets, tea, cake, scone and sandwich. Great gluten free selection. Rare to find any tea room that does gluten free afternoon tea. Walk through the jewellery store and upstairs to this quaint tea room with friendly service.

Had a lovely breakfast here last week, wish we'd found the place sooner on our holiday! Reasonably priced and really well cooked fried breakfast with all the trimmings (the fried bread was a particular treat!). The rest of the menu looked to have a great selection of sandwiches/paninis etc and cooked meals too. Will definitely be returning here on out next trip to Whitby.

Had Father's Day breakfast here today and it's the first time we have visited, it will not be the last! What a lovely atmosphere with top quality food for very reasonable prices. The chef and his table server did a sterling job! The girls at the counter serving were also very helpful and friendly, so lovely to see such an efficient, friendly and well run cafe, thank you so much to you all, we really enjoyed it. 👌🌟

Wow is all I can say went in for a roast dinner best place we've visited for a Sunday dinner we will be returning all the food we saw being served looked lovely reasonably priced and good portions will be back again and luckily it wasn't too busy

Im sorry but the breakfast was awful. We went Sunday morning so don't know if it's different staff who cook but not good. Everything was deep fried including the mushrooms. Fried bread was so greasy I could still taste it hours later and I only had a mouthful. Egg was hard. I left most of my breakfast. People's orders came out before mine so had to ask where mine was. There is no need to deep fry everything. Not good and unfortunately won't go back.

Whistle stop one off a few cafes still doing home cooked food. It is run by a lovely couple always friendly and welcoming It is an amazing little place. Always good food and a warm welcoming atmosphere 🙂. I definitely recommend the chicken and stuffing sandwich 🥪

Stopped by for a coffee and a bacon bun before embarking on a day trip along the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. And very good it was too.

Very Disappointed with the Customer Service I visited this Costa Coffee location today and had a very unpleasant experience with one of the staff members—a lady who was extremely rude and unhelpful. From the moment I approached the counter, her attitude was dismissive and cold. She seemed annoyed to be serving customers, didn’t smile, and barely acknowledged me when I asked a simple question about the menu. Customer service is a big part of why people choose certain cafés, and unfortunately, today’s interaction left a very negative impression. I expect better from Costa—both in professionalism and basic courtesy. Hopefully, management takes this kind of feedback seriously, because experiences like this are what drive loyal customers away.

The girl that was serving at the counter today in the afternoon is extremely rude. Needs to prioritise making coffee over watching whos coming through the door to use facilities after they've been a paying customer

I had a very disappointing experience with the customer service at Costa (Whitby) today. My husband and I asked for napkins, but the lady at the till told us to use the blue roll instead. I explained that I am allergic to the material and needed napkins to wipe my mouth. She then suggested to use the toilet. I mentioned that other Costa outlets provide napkins to customers, but she responded that this particular branch does not. However, I noticed that other customers were being given napkins, which made us feel unfairly treated. I always love costa coffee but first time i am experiencing this issue in costa.

Best Costa branch I have been too, staff are very polite and chatty making sure to make you feel comfortable.. happy to make drinks how you want them so you can ask for specifics with no problems especially if you want something like a ristretto or large iced americano, shop was clean and tidy with fast service from the front of house staff... Would highly recommend this coffee shop if you are used to the chains and want a good experience!

Came to this cafe for breakfast two weeks ago, would never come back again! Coffee was good, food was okay, but the service is awful. When we ordered, we were told that it will be a 10-20 minute wait for the food, which is already quite long for an avocado spread on a toast during a non rush period. It took 45 minutes of waiting and 1 complaint to actually get our food.

Me and some family went to Whitby on a day trip from Filey. Firstly the park and ride was super; nice and easy, frequent and lovely drivers. We decided to go for lunch and we needed somewhere dog friendly that had a nice variety on the menu. The black jewel was the first one to pop up and I am so glad that it was. The scrambled egg on toast was unreal! Fluffy, flavourful and a perfect portion size with a delicate side salad. (It was baby leaf lettuce and a light dressing with whole mustard as a component) I would have been more than happy to eat this 10 times over. My partner had the small pancakes with banana and Nutella they were larger than he anticipated however it was ideal as everyone of us at the table including my two dogs were wanting a taste! The coffee and beverage list was varied but not overwhelming they even serve a cafe bon bon, which is difficult to find anywhere so we were pleasantly surprised. As for your fury friends. They are also well looked after with a teat delivery to your table. Thankyou you all the lovely staff, and if you do visit have a read of their small book on the table which is available for a charity donation purchase at the till. ❤️

A real jewel in the beautiful town of Whitby with excellent views of Whitby abbey. The room was very quirky and refreshing with a touch of luxury. The stand out quality was the cleanliness! There was not a spec of dust in the place, even in hard to see places. We also ate at the cafe and loved the anmount of delicious and unusual options for vegetarians and carnivores alike.

We had a fantastic stay at the Jet Black Jewel Hotel. The room was spacious, spotless, and perfect for our couple of nights in Whitby. I loved the unique themed décor, which made the place feel really special. The café downstairs was a great bonus too — ideal for breakfast in the morning or a cocktail later in the day. The only small downside was the early checkout and the fact that there wasn’t anywhere to store bags if you wanted to explore a little more before heading home. But overall, it’s a lovely place to stay and I’d definitely recommend it!

Wife and I had a lovely 2 night stay here in the Scoresby room. Based in the town centre, it’s a great base to explore the town and surrounding area. The rooms are large, clean and modern with quirky decor that isn’t too OTT. We loved the staff-less check in and out, made it really simple to come and go as we pleased. The parking pass made it easy to park on street nearby, we were never more than 100m from the hotel. Will 100% be staying again the next time we’re in the area.

Visited just for breakfast, and it was so good we came back the next day! Food was delicious and something a little different from Full English. Service was fabulous and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommended, and also have vegan and veggie choices.

Not keen on flimsy plastic beakers, need to add another to stabilise. Also had to tell people no drinks on the dancefloor! Eventually, security stepped in to advise them....

Booked for the cinema. Downton Abbey - The Grand Finale was scheduled. As I had gathered the Pavilion was a multi use facility, I expected a small rustic establishment. How wrong was I? It is a splendid building with friendly professional staff to help newcomers find their way about. Clear instructions from these same staff members ensured we enjoyed both the film & our visit.

Lovely little place for a snacks and drinks. First time visiting and we are really impressed! Staff lovely and helpful, food and drinks reasonably priced and what we had was delicious! Would highly recommend the nachos, huge portion (easily enough for 2 to share) and plenty of cheese! My hot chocolate was one of the best I’ve ever tasted, loved the little pumpkin 🎃 marshmallows! Will definitely be coming back, would highly recommend 😊

We went here for drinks on a day out to Whitby! The staff were friendly and the cafe a cute vibe but our table was left unwiped and food left on the other tables even though we were the only customers which was abit of a shame- I ordered an iced mocha with soya milk and I’m lucky it’s only an intolerance rather than an allergy as some cake crumbs or something were in my drink when I received it which felt abit gross- my gran liked her coffee though and no other issues with their drinks so still was a nice vibe -just feedback for future! ☺️

We visited Java on a Thursday lunchtime and got a seat upstairs. The interior is fantastic and looks like it has been created by someone off the BBC’s ‘Interior Design Masters’ show with funky wallpaper and trendy colour scheme. We ordered two lattes which were reasonably priced and tasted delicious - I love that they come with a Lotus biscuit too: always a nice touch. The only strange thing was that the loyalty card they have is only for takeaways and not for sit ins. Also, when we arrived, our table was dirty. I went downstairs and asked if there was a cloth I could use to clean it (expecting the employee to offer to pop up and clean it for me), but she handed me a cloth to clean it myself. But this wasn’t a major issue (happy to help out), and I would definitely return because the coffee was so good.

Had a lovely lunch here. Very welcoming and dog friendly. Whilst taking our order the young lady asked us if we'd like some sausage for our dog. That's so lovely! We ordered cheese and onion quiche and southern fried chicken strips on ciabatta with a bowl of chips. Both meals were delicious. There's a toilet upstairs that's a shared one. Very polite staff and they wished us a nice day when we left!

One of the few places which offer more than a cup of tea or coffee and bakery in the morning, so, this was a pleasure and a bit of luck to get a table without a reservation, though the places are limited. Full English breakfast was good, we could easily share it fir 2 of us, plus they offer a sausage for a dog, which was nice. Tea furring the day was good, too, however, we wanted to have tea only during their lunch time and were not sorted inside as we were told “lunch only served inside”, and though we made it clear we are outside no one came to make the order until I came in and placed my order. The tea and a cake were good, though. Toilets are accessible on the top floor but only through a staircase; yet it is quite big and comfortable. The location is really nice and the place is quite popular.

Sent the first Breakfast back because it had a hair in it, the second had a bloody flag in it... While we were sat outside eating the metal flag attached to the building fell on our table in top of the food 😂😂 can't mate it up, the lady offered to make a new breakfast but that would of been the first one 😂🤷‍♀️ no refund offered and she said it's never happened before yet the flag was taped on, when we showed her the tape she then changed the story to the whole thing has been broke for a while 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Can't make It up, good job we were in a good mood. Food is delicious and I'd still return 👍🏻

Had a lovely meal of Whitby scampi and fish and chips. A very busy cafe and great staff. Very quick at serving and friendly. Would recommend. Located in the old part of Whitby and very reasonably priced.

I came all the way up from Suffolk to Whitby on holiday, stumbled across this cafe and the food was absolutely amazing. The staff wiped our table as soon as we sat down and we were served very quickly. I had the summer pork pie and it was the best pork pie I have ever had. If I am ever up in Whitby again I will definitely be coming here. 10/10 all round

Very mediocre. Sausage sandwich was poor. Tea was good and staff were good. Not terrible but wouldn't visit again. Microwaved cheese scone was soggy.

An amazing place. We arrived early on a Sunday morning, not realising it was one of the few places actually open in that season on a Sunday, so within about 20 mins there was barely a seat left in the place! Perfect for gluten free options, so many in fact it was a little overwhelming at times :-D Super tasty food, great service and a nice atmosphere in this small cafe. Definitely recommended!

We really enjoyed our breakfast at the Cranberry Swamp. We had poached eggs & tomatoes and pancakes with fruit and honey. Great portions & tasted delicious. Seemed to be a great cafe if you have a dog too as almost every customer had one! Will visit again when we're next in Whitby!

I have been to Cranberry Swamp for both dine in and take away and the food and service both match the same quality and love every single time. They have wide range of options based on your dietary preferences/ restrictions. Very warm and pleasant staff. And the place is very Child friendly, Pet Friendly and equally welcoming to both tourists and locals.

Awesome breakfast and came highly recommended from a friend that holidays in Whitby all the time. The selection of breakfasts and lunches is numerous and very different but with something to suit most. We only went for breakfast, but the burger selection alone looked worth investigating. Very quirky decor and plenty of seating!

One of our party has a gluten, soya and milk allergy, Cranberry Swamp was able to cater for all of those. All the food was very good quality and tasty. The cafe was closing as we went past on another occasion but they were kind enough to stop and check ingredients in a couple of desserts for the person with allergies as we had not been able to find any throughout the day, and were able to buy a couple. Thank you so much for your patience and kindness, the desserts were delicious I'm told

Quite simply the best veggie breakfast I’ve ever had! My wife had GF breakfast and also raved about it! Lovely relaxed atmosphere and even the pa music was some good sounds! (Not loud!) Staff friendly and cost very reasonable! Loved it and kept us going for our 5 hour journey home!

Cannot comment on the rooms as we only visited for dinner. Delicious food with good range of vegan options. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meals. Children's meals were a good size, although they could do with a child's pudding option as the dessert options were all a bit pricey for a child (which meant we didn't stay for dessert). We sat in the lounge with was lovely. Good range of reasonably priced drinks. Lovely location with sheep grazing outside (they even wondered into the lobby at one point when they gates had been left open 😂.

Wonderful stay and superb food. The hotel had a lovely cosy bar and another two or three smaller rooms in which to enjoy your drinks. Views from the garden are spectacular.

This is our 4th stay and we love it here. The hotel has a great bar, beautiful restaurant and lounge areas and a gorgeous large garden area with breathtaking views. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. It's a very relaxing place to stay and not far from the beach too! Will be back for many more stays.

A lovely place for a pub lunch. The sheep loved it so much they went into the entrance hall! They were soon shooed out. We had steak ciabatta and chips. It was delicious. The gardens are pretty too.

We have just spent the most fabulous two days at this perfect hotel. Everything was outstanding - the food, ambiance, well appointed room and the attentive and friendly staff. Absolutely superb and we will definitely book again.

We have had the pleasure of stopping at the Mallyan Spout on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The location is ideal for a quiet break or undertaking adventurous walks (including the waterfall) … for those who can remember Heartbeat (T.V show available on catch-up!) the village remains much the same and there is no shortage of themed tea rooms. Steam trains run regularly to Grosmont (home of Harry Potter, I believe) but don’t expect too much from station cafe and fares are on the expensive side but enjoyable experience.

Sadly my second poor review of the day, this time for food. We went to this place after phoning to check they had a table for 7pm. We checked the menu online early in the day. We got there on time, got to the table, were given menus and the waited them listed 4 mains that weren't available, one being the beef. (Sunday in Yorkshire?). That left a fish thing, pasta, a chicken dish with mushroom sauce, and a pie wth veg. Turned out the pie was also chicken and mushroom 🙄. I had the chicken with mushroom sauce and it was cooked nicely, but it wasn't what I wanted. For dessert, we both had the sticky toffee pudding but it arrived luke warm. There were no staff to ask to warm it up as they made sharp exits after every appearance / food delivery. I got the bill, advised how they could improve and then paid the £82 bill with no mention of a reduction, but that's not why you complain of course. We will not be back.

Have walked past this diner many times, as it is en-route to where we have to collect our holiday-let keys from. This time we made sure to come and have a meal and so glad we did. It was busy (around 7.30 Sat eve), but we were seated quickly. All the staff we encountered were lovely, the decor is fabulous and there is a genuine jukebox playing (just at the right level that you can still have a conversation). My partner had porky parmo and is still raving about it a week later. I had classic hotdog and sweet potato fries, both were just LUSH. We also had cocktails which were amazing, so much so, my partner had two! Portions were very large and we felt very good value. You do have to wait a little while for your food and drinks but we didn't think this was overly long and it's clearly because everything is freshly made to order. As we didn't have room for desserts we returned the next afternoon and had a mega milkshake and a sundae. These were also fantastic and the staff once again were very welcoming. All in all, highly recommended, we will most definitely return on our next visit to the area. 5*

This was the highlight of our trip to Whitby. The setting was amazing really stylish. The burger fries were lovely and the cocktail was spot on. Couldn’t resist getting a dessert and the cookie was just as good.

We went and got a table straight away. We had a 40 minute wait till our food arrived. We were fairly happy with the food. We did feel the uniforms could have been washed on a regular Basis. Overall it is worth a visit

Food was amazing, milkshake was like a dessert on its own! Atmosphere and decor was great, there was also a jukebox! Toilets weren’t the cleanest (men’s mess) And we had to wait a while for food. But the place was packed, so can kinda forgive it. Would definitely recommend.

Craving a burger while in Whitby we decided to eat at Emma's Diner and I am oh so glad we did. The drinks were great. The burgers and fries were amazing. Everything about the burgers tasted good, seasoned well, juicy and cooked to perfection. We were planning on having a desert but the portion sizes and great taste changed our plan. The staff were very friendly and seated us immediately. The aesthetic of the diner was great, classic American decor and music.

The most delicious scones I ever tasted. The word scones does not do the Whitby Fattie justice. Huge, fruit filled, short but never dry, served mouthwatering warm from the oven.. baked by the hubby and sold by the charming, friendly wife these are a Whitby institution. The prices are amazing and you can fill a bag with scones, tiffin, Abbey Steps Flap Jack's . When I'm in Whitby I like to frequent my favorite local shops and trust me you won't regret stocking your cottage with mountains of treats from this place.

Got some sweet treats and a coffee to takeaway. Everything was absolutely delicious. People serving were so lovely and made sure we were getting the best deal. Prices were very good.

Delightful little cafe, only 4 tables but if you can grab one it is well worth it. The Whitby fatties are amazing, staff very attentive, ensuring you have enough tea/coffee or if you need more jam or cream. You wouldn't leave feeling upset (unless there's no room). It is a shame there isn't more space available as I'm sure plenty more people would love to visit. It put a big smile on my face despite the rubbish weather.

Amazing value cakes and treats, £2.50 for a tea or coffee with a flapjack any flavour! Sweet little place we've been many times over the years, the fatties are incredible, and really affordable cakes Lady is lovely, we also bought her Christmas decorations a few years ago that went all to charity. Good honest people :)

Lovely find for lunch.......we've always seen this place but never ventured in. It's lovley fresh food, really reasonably priced and a good plateful . Staff are very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Would have rated a 5 star but personal preference of one of the kitchen staff ( who came out front to use the toilets) had very long hair which although in a ponytail, I thought should be completely tied back and either in a bun or netted . It's just off putting for me. Overall would visit again 🙂

Friendly rice cake and coffee place. Very clean and tidy, the toilets are downstairs. Helpful stuff. The cappachino was very weak, really milky with not a lot of coffee in it but large, hot and well presented would go again.

Called in this afternoon for a bite to eat and it was fab. Husband had the southern fried chicken wrap I had an egg sandwich. Excellent sized portions and quality. They both came with a nice side salad and the portions of chips was nearly too much to finish. All of this was rounded off with coffee and walnut cake. Really good value for money, friendly staff and dog friendly as well.

Lovely little Cafe and friendly staff. Always feel welcome. Have visited with older family members, one using a wheel chair and our Grandchildren, one in a push chair, and always accommodated us. High chair was available for our youngest. Lovely food, homemade quiches, salads, sandwiches and crab dishes when available. Good prices too. £5 - £8 for a main meal. Sometimes it's nice to visit Whitby and not have fish and chips!

Came here today for our lunch and was not impressed. Was served a can of coke with mould growing on it (which fair enough was taken away and sorted but the glass which was brought with it was filthy too). Whilst waiting to pay, we were ignored then when my fiance brought this to their attention, a staff member said he had "an attitude from when he first walked in" and to not come back again. I'm sorry but this is an rude and unacceptable way to talk to a paying customer!! Don't worry we won't be coming back!

My husband and I have just eaten at Jane's Kitchen....what an absolutely beautiful place !! The establishment is spotless clean...very efficient attentive staff and wonderfully home cooked food. Will definitely return again if visiting Whitby again

Best breakfast I never had. Because it is now a sweet shop and ice cream parlour. Which was a brutal surprise upon arrival, after carefully selecting this cafe from the excellent (and recent) Google reviews and photos. So if you are reading this review whilst trying to find some food then unless your diet is 100% sugar then I would avoid this place! Leaving a 3 star review because to be fair, the sweet shop is nice looking, it's just not what we were expecting at all!

Really liked this place. A nice atmosphere and lovely staff. The coffee was good and we had a fresh crab meat sandwich. This was truly 👏!! What's needed for a 5* review? The cake selection looked absolutely brilliant. Sadly though, they just didn't live up to their appearance. Still: loved this place and would highly recommend a visit

Nice soup, and cheese scone special for lunch. Beautiful courtyard garden… love that bluegum! (you do know how large they grow, don't you?) Thankfully, we didn't waste any salad, or fall foul of any of the rules, but we did have a laugh at how many signs there were instructing, and forbidding patrons around various activities. Not sure what happens if you don't toe the line!

Characterful,warm and friendly cafe. Excellent, caring staff who can't do enough for you...as long as you are friendly and curtious as a customer ! My first visit, cakes were recommended by staff with the best coffee locally. Great value for money menu, with lots of options. Clean and well kept. Has the charm of a traditional cafe, which I personally feel adds to the experience. The best one in SandsEnd for sure. I will surely be back. A big thanks to all the lovely, kind and caring staff. I have no idea why any reviewer would actually complain about the service! Oh, and the cakes were yummy !

What a brilliant place to re-fuel We ate in and put together a picnic here with sandwiches (incudes fries) tea and cakes. Service was excellent and the place just right, sunny so we ate outside in a very nice patio, with lovely plants (giant geraniums). I bet it's cosy inside on a wet day. Tip. There's a little free parking at the back in the car park. And a council car park adjoining it (£2.60 ph)

Popped in for cuppa and cake. Nice surprise that they offered a GLUTEN FREE scone, which I chose with butter and jam, very good pot of decaf tea in a China cup🙂 and a jug of hot water! My husband had tea plus scone, jam and butter. Very nice, we sat in a covered outdoor area with our greyhound...

Cafe was open til 5, but stopped serving food at 3. Had a cake & a scone, pretty dry, and with scone was just given a single pack of butter. Not great experience, but nice location. Maybe just caught an off day!

Love this place & is our go to café if we're ever this way. Good selection of specials, cakes & basic menu. Quirky little place with inside, outside seating plus takeaway option. Reasonably priced. Expect it to be full at peak times!

Wandered past this cafe the previous day and the waft of a bacon sarnie was too tempting hence a visit the following morning. The service was good considering they were on their own. Excellent cappuccino and latte. The all in one bap was fantastic : egg, bacon, sausage & black pudding. No need for sauces but the choice is there. Very filling brunch. Nice decor. Clean toilet.

Stopped here by chance on our last morning staying in the village. We couldn’t resist the big tasty breakfast baps! Good hearty food all round. The panini menu for lunch looked lovely too.

We loved this Cafe for breakfast, the owner was great, really friendly and made a best friend in my little 6 year old boy who wanted to go back and see him everyday ! Had the best sausage and egg sandwiches! Latte was lovely too. We will visit again

Visited twice now and each time had great coffee and food. I'm surprised at all the negative reviews on service. Yes the service could be better but I take my hat off to the guy behind the counter. All the different food and drinks they do he's running around doing everything. I'd like to see half of the people leaving bad reviews do that. I was very surprised and excellent service that he even whipped the cream for the scone it wasn't from a jar. Excellent all round I would highly recommend and would always visit.

Quaint cafe with some nice looking cakes. Was surprised at how much I was charged for a very budget looking sandwich though. Perhaps cake is a better bet? Toilet clean but needs a lock

My advice would be to keep walking past this place. Shocking customer service with a loud mouth rude owner/staff who needs to know how to make a coffee and not a pot of milky froth. Wouldn’t give any stars to be honest but just wanted to warn people off. Beautiful part of the world but always one muppet spoils the place

Absolutely fantastic café. We took the family here last weekend when visiting the bay the the food and service was amazing We came back to the bay just as a couple this weekend as a short escape and as soon as we walked in the café we received the same great service. Plus he remembered the kids, was nice and friendly and helpful too Great food, great atmosphere and great prices Definitely recommend a visit here, especially to refuel before climbing the hill out of the bay!!

During 1 week near Whitby we visited 3 times. Family ran business guarantees consistently high quality. Breakfast is outstanding. Homemade basque cheesecake tastes heavenly.

Very nice I was there with my walking group on a beautiful day. On the North Yorkshire coast. The very agreeable pint of Theakstons was a perfect accompaniment to the 2 slices of a delicious lemon flavoured flapjack. Thank you very much to everyone at the Coast Cafe Bar.

Had a fantastic breakfast here on a rainy Saturday morning on our bike ride. Food was fantastic, service super friendly, spotlessly clean toilets.

I cannot rate this LITTLE GEM of a place highly enough. Food, absolutely delicious: breakfast, lunch & evening meal on a Fri/Sat- ALL SO GOOD Beautiful family, who work so hard to bring us this little beaty of a place to enjoy. Lovely staff, who are so friendly and welcoming Honestly: Give it a go, you will not be disappointed.

I love this place!, its the second time I've been since lockdown was eased. Its the only place I feel safe, and 'normal', considering the world's going crazy. First time my daughter booked and we sat inside, just four tables, spaced out, no hustle and bustle, no one in our personal space. Staff are soo lovely, very reassuring, welcoming and friendly. The food is beautiful! Caters for vegans, vegetarians, meat eaters, people with gluten allergies ect. Second time I went with my friend and we sat outside in the sun, again tables spaced apart, everyone has their own area to feel safe in. The cakes are out of this world, you have to sample the gluten free carrot cake!!!

Stopped in here on our 18th and final day of hiking the coast to coast. This café couldn't have come at a better time. We were so hungry and the coast Cafe hit the spot. I had the granola bowl and Mexican eggs. Both were so good and everything seemed fresh and perfectly cooked. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We had a really yummy breakfast today at Coast! The Avo Feta Smash is sooo delicious 😋 And one of the best coffees in the Whitby area!! We can totally recommend.

A fabulous beachfront cafe for a short stop. Outside seating with a wonderful view of the beach and Whitby Abbey in the distance. Very clean and tidy . Good selection of cakes. We didn’t try the pizza but will do next time as they looked delicious.

Delicious view, fabulous coffee, some of the best Gelato I've had in years, and the delightful smell of bacon on the beachfront. Could not recommend a cuter coffee stop.

Super friendly staff and beautiful views, with both indoor & outdoor seating and (clean) toilet for customers. Pizza ok & staff happy to switch toppings around as made fresh 💜. Decent decaf coffee with cream, which was a lovely treat. Marmalade ice cream not to be missed!! 🥰

Excellent. What a lovely find. Parked up in Sandsend as there was no parking in Robin Hoods Bay or Whitby and found this little place not far from the car park at the bottom of Lyth Bank. Great views with options of dining inside or outside. Clean disabled accessible customer toilet. This establishment offers takeaway. Friendly helpful staff. Also dog friendly outside. Will definitely be back when I am in the area.

Perfect little cafe on a lovely beach! Visited a few times though our day at the beech enjoying coffee, a beer, pizza and ice cream. It’s ace!

I got in early and had the Pepperoni Pizza which was much cheaper than I was used to. Service was super fast and very friendly. I enjoyed the pizza with a lovely view a short walk away from Tides Cafe.

The Riverside cafe is set on the river esk , a gorgeous relaxing setting . Tables right beside the river , very peaceful. We had prawn and crab sandwiches which were delicious. Good selection of food choices. Table service too. There's a mini train for the children to ride. Think it was €2.50 each. All in all a lovely couple of hours spent here .

A very attractive location by the River Esk in the village of Ruswsrp. There is both internal and external seating available and the internal is both attractive and well laid out. A wide range of snacks, meals, beverages and alcoholic drinks are available, and service is suitably prompt. Somewhat oddly, even though am internal counter exists, it is necessary to order food / drinks 'outside' from the catering van which, for all intensive purposes, acts as a take-away facility? Despite this, staff are friendly, polite and helpful and the venue is still worth a visit.

Great place to relax and enjoy an afternoon tea by the water. Egg salad and BLT sandwiches were delicious, delicious scone, cake, and brownie with proper clotted cream. Sooooo good and highly recommend if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of Whitby town centre.

Thoroughly enjoyable visit. When poor weather had ruled out a boat ride, staff phoned ahead to stop us setting out unnecessarily and promptly made an alternative arrangement as it was a special visit for a 70th birthday. On the day, arrangements had efficiently been made for us to sit at an indoor table (weather again!) and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks to all involved. It was a lovely day. Lovely setting, courteous and helpful staff. Excellent product, with lovely presentation. Keen to revisit and will happily recommend to others.

What a beautiful location right by the river. Food and service were great. It was busy and parking is on the road. However, as we were stopping in Ruswarp we walked.

We called here on a walk from whitby, only cafe around so not much choice if you want a drink. It's a lovely spot clean tidy and nice views. Cakes were very tasty, and the children enjoyed their milk shakes ! At £6.50 each, I was expecting a bit more than a jam jar full, though, to be honest. My main issue was I ordered a shandy as yes it's licenced which is great on a hot sunny day after a walk. Sadly, flat lemonade when I said that's flat, he took it out the back and came back saying he had put fresh lemonade in clearly, not as the shandy was flat and not the best. I was then told they wisk all the bubbles out to get flat lemonade for shandy !!! It's a Shame really as all they needed to do was open a new bottle!

Lovely little Riverside cafe. We were able to sit outside on a sunny day after a walk from Whitby. I had afternoon tea and the egg mayo sandwiches & cake selection were very nice and tasted fresh.

Food in the cafe is excellent, staff are great, the windows need a good clean so that the views can be appreciated properly, the cafe is really in need of a refurb. Shop part is great, has loads of lovely stuff. As we were on holiday we didn't look at the plants. I would recommend for a breakfast definitely.

Arrived an hour before advertised closing on a Saturday and was received by a very grumpy member of staff who greeted my partner with 'can I help you'. Also refused access to the bathrooms as they were preparing to close. Won't be returning.

This beautiful garden centre just outside of Whitby has a cafe with huge windows that looks across the fields sea towards Whitby Abbey.

Me and my family use this as a stop off for food between our home in Northumberland and whenever we are having a caravan break along the yorkshire coast. This is the some of the best food we have ever had on each occasion. It is that good that i often consider travelling 2hrs just to have my breakfast/lunch here then come home. 👍

Lovely place to visit for plants or just a cuppa, beautiful big cafe area with views of the abbey down in Whitby, best cuppa of tea I've had all holiday, staff extremely helpful and friendly, I will certainly visit here again.

Loved it here. Garden centre was well able to supply all of the needs I went for. Restaurant was a bonus. Good fresh food. Will be going back.

For a non-customer, greeted with a sign to say you have to pay £1 to use the bathroom facilities. Not sure then, who is going through the front door if its not potential custom!? At the rather passive aggresive sign on the toilet door, i decided to move on looking at the variety of gifts and homeware. There was no obvious food stuff/sweets/drinks to take away, though this may have been in the cafe? This was full, so it seems to be popular. I did not have the opportunity to try it. The rest of the centre is efficatious, ..for the garden. And if you want to know more, then Victoria Farm Garden Centre can pay me £1 for a positive review.

Beautiful gallery!! My wife and I have visited a lot of galleries over the years and this one stands out by far above the rest. Outstanding pieces of art displayed in a bright extensive gallery space on two floor levels and stairwells. Well worth a visit!!

Delightful knowledgeable staff. It was already a light and beautiful space which the extension to upstairs making it more so. And the art is the best I've seen in Whitby, even changed my mind about textiles, a media that was not to my taste before visiting. The interrst free monthly payment scheme made nearly all but the most expensive pieces affordable. So glad we came here.

Absolutely wonderful place for lunch. I visited with my parents in early August 2017 and as vegetarians we found the choice of dishes really excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. The artwork adds to the ambiance of the place; I came away truly inspired!

We went into the Art Cafe to purchase some earrings seen in the window however I did not end up buying them due to the neurotic and rude behaviour of the man "in charge" who confiscated my sons soft drink when he was sat on a sofa in the cafe and in turn accused me of not controlling my child around the art. My child was no where near artwork and I felt that the place was totally child unfriendly. I do not recommend this place following our negative and upsetting experience.

The coffee and cake were superb. Very affordable (cheaper than a chain). The atmosphere is halfway between a gallery and a coffee shop. It was tranquil and warm. The artwork on the walls was also excellent.

I have been more for the gallery than the cafe, serves reasonable coffee, looks to be good with cakes but haven't tried them. The gallery is worth a visit, there is often interesting artworks and they change quite regularly, pictures sculptures, ceramics etcetera.

Visited Beacon Farm today for their pumpkin patch and had a fantastic time! The setup is brilliant, you grab a wheelbarrow and stroll through the patch to pick your perfect pumpkin. Everything was really well organized and reasonably priced. After pumpkin picking, we enjoyed a much-needed break with tea, cake, and ice cream, all delicious! A lovely experience from start to finish. Highly recommend for a fun autumn outing!

Amazing campsite. Pitches are huge and well spaced. The whole site is clean. Good play area and football pitch for the kids. Great views over Whitby. The walk would have been a bit far for our kids, but it's a hilly 3miles there. There is a nice nature trail on site. We went to the pub next door and had ice cream from the on site cafe. Both were excellent. Loos/showers were clean modular units with plenty of hot water. Pot wash had freezer+phone charging. Only addition I'd welcome would be a washer/tumble dryer.

We camped here for several days. The pitches were huge and immaculate with lots of space for the children to run around. There wasn’t any litter anywhere and the grass was cut regularly during our stay. We had a beautiful view of the sea and we could also watch our children play happily on the park from where we were pitched. We used the shop each day to buy delicious ice cream and ate it as we wandered down the nature trail which was lovely. The facilities were immaculate and were cleaned regularly. The staff were easy to talk to and very approachable.

Absolutely outstanding campsite. Friendly and easy going service. Great play area for the kids. Lovely views out to Whitby. Since we last came they have installed brand new excellent toilets and showers which were, frankly, better than my shower at home. The cafe (and, of course, the ice cream) is one of the best I've been to anywhere. So much so, I am regretting coming home. Sorely tempted to leave a terrible review so it can put others off and we could have it to ourselves. But, to be fair, they deserve every bit of popularity. Will be coming again (if they're not booked out!).

Great location. Friendly family campsite with very good facilities. Cafe was very good with some good food available. Ice cream recommend cheery & mango. Pitches were big with easy hook up. Lovely walks with views of the whitby baby. Will revisit again. Well done.

Beacon Farm Campsite near Whitby is a fantastic location for camping with children. There are goats & highland cattle as well as a bird watching area. The park and nature trail are a particular highlight as well as the lovely ice cream parlour/tea room. There is also a little shop which is an added bonus. Really easy check in. Immaculate showers and toilets. Great washing up area. A really well maintained site.

Had the best time here, as we do every year! Everything is clean, well maintained and family friendly. On site there is a cafe/ice cream parlour, 2 toilet/shower blocks, a small shop, a beauty salon, a kids play park, a woodland trail, and some cheeky goats! Good space between caravans and tents for safety. The owners are usually somewhere near by throughout the day for any problems, but not interfering in your holiday. Very friendly, overall 5 star site!

Small intimate family cafe. During busy times you must buy food, you cannot just buy a tea or coffee. My wife and I both ordered the all day breakfast. Every item on the plate could of been better from over cooked wafer thin black pudding to beans that seemed like the had been sat for hours. I understand it's a tourist area but that should not mean you can serve bad food at good food prices. Very disappointed.

Stopped here for lunch - gorgeous little family run style cafe with homemade breakfast and lunches. We had paninis and salad for a fiver! Cant go wrong.

Popped in today and I will admit the prices are cheap but you really do get what you pay for. Staff were lovely. Portions are very mean, and I’m pretty sure my 5 year old godson could do better in all respects. If you want a small basic breakfast then this is your place, otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

Went to this café today, we were presented with the menu, then my husband went to the counter to order & was told it was table service & someone would be over shortly to take our order. The staff member did not return to take our order, he cleaned tables as people left, took dishes away & presented other arriving customers with menus too, all whilst we tried to get his attention, over 20 minutes went by & then at least 6 people arrived & pulled 2 tables together & he promptly took their order, at this point we left - I'm a diabetic and had low blood sugar. We have used this café several times before but will never return, absolutely disgusted at their service & attitude.

Came in the morning just before the opening time and asked if we could sit and wait till they was ready as it was 5 minutes to go plus we didn't mind waiting we understand it takes time. When we found somewhere to sit the woman (owner) had to say something rude and sarcastic. We sat on some chairs where she left some banner on the chair. I apologised but she had to say because there's no where else to sit and scoffed. We was tempted to leave as it was beyond childish but we stayed. I've read the reviews and this is something she seemed to do alot be a bit rude and say something. As someone who also works with the public I know it can be hard but I think she should learn to bite her tongue more. The food is cheap but it was pretty good. The lad who served us was brilliant, did a great job and couldn't do enough for us. I did say he could have the tip as he was brilliant. I said this loud as I wanted him to know he was great and I wanted him to have that tip, not the owner. So please make sure he gets that £1.80.

Me and my partner come here for breakfast whenever we visit Whitby. Food is lovely. Portion sizes are fantastic and staff are very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend 😃
