Nestled in a protected bay, Voidokilia Beach is often hailed as one of the most stunning beaches in Greece. Its pristine crescent-shaped shoreline and crystal-clear waters make it an ideal spot for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts seeking tranquility in a breathtaking natural setting. Families with children can enjoy the calm, shallow waters while older visitors relax on the soft sands.
Voidokilia Beach is really a beautiful place, I think it is my favorite beach from those that I have visited during my two weeks holiday in the Peloponnese area. It is a fine sand beach with crystal clear water, also it has shallow water and it is perfect for kids. Comparing with the other beaches the water felt cooler but it was acceptable on the 11th of September. No beach bars, no sunbeds just a wild beach where you have to bring with you what you will need for a day to relax and enjoy this magnificent place. The parking place is near and the road is narrow in some places but it is accessible with every type of car. There are two restaurants/taverns at 1km distance away from the beach where you can eat. P.S1. For those people who are smoking and are reading this review, please 🥺 take with you the cigarette butts and don't let them in the sand, you are ruining such a beautiful place created by nature. P.S2. If you were able to bring with you on the beach a cup of coffee or something to eat, then you are able to carry it out from the beach and throw it in a trash can, don't let your garbage everywhere.
Cucu A — Google review
Exquisite sandy beach with clear waters and interesting geography. The waters are shallow making them ideal for children. There is not much shade at the beach. No amenities like shower.
Oly.ana O — Google review
Beautiful beach with crystal clear water and spectacular views from surrounding hills. Note that there aren’t any beach bars or restaurants but there are several that are only 5-10min away - some of them even deliver directly to the beach. It can get pretty crowded during busy seasons so it’s the best to arrive before 10am to find yourself a good spot.
Katarina M — Google review
Such an amazing beach. So quiet and clean and No waves whatsoever. I have a fracture boot on and not able to exercise for a few months. Removing it and swimming for one hour was a blessing. Thank God
Hind E — Google review
Bring your own towels, chairs or umbrellas. The beach does not have any sort of commercial activity so there is also no food or water for sale. The water however is extremely warm and clean, amazing swimming location. Also to the left there is a hike to a cave and then past the cave to a castle which leads to a STUNNING view. It is a difficult hike but absolutely worth it!
Panayiote S — Google review
On of the best and most unique beaches of Peloponnese due to its peculiar shape. The coastline is wide enough and the sunset is marvelous.
Vasileios K — Google review
Voidokilia Beach is located a bit outside Pylos, along the beautiful Navarino coast. It’s a completely natural beach, once used as an ancient port, sitting just below the Paleokastro fortress and near the famous Thrasymedes Tholos Tomb, a Mycenaean burial site dating back more than 3,000 years. The area is steeped in history, with legends linked to King Nestor and his son Thrasymedes, making the visit even more fascinating. The water is crystal clear, and you can drive right up to the beach, but keep in mind that there are no facilities. This is pure, untouched seaside tourism, so make sure to bring water, umbrellas, and everything you need. The beach forms a perfect semicircle — resembling a cow’s belly, which inspired its name — and because it’s relatively small, it’s best to arrive early as it can get crowded. We arrived later in the afternoon due to a road closure caused by an overturned car, which delayed us a bit. The road leading there is narrow, so take it slow, but it’s absolutely worth it. Many call Voidokilia one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Personally, I found it stunning, maybe not quite at the extreme level of hype, but definitely a unique and memorable place, perfect for breathtaking photos and a special experience.
Ciro B — Google review
Today we visited Voidokilia beach. We arrived at around 10:00 a.m. and there were plenty of free parking spaces as well as a free choice of places on the beach. But there are also plenty of free parking spaces later in the day. Incidentally, the approach is easy to manage. The water is very shallow right at the entrance and there are hardly any waves. Waves are more likely in the middle to the right. If you want to have some peace and quiet, you should walk all the way around to the right and position yourself at the end. This also has the advantage that the entrance to the cave is close by where you can Take great Photos. If you lie down in the middle, you should walk up the dunes at the back, from where you can take great panoramic photos. Interestingly, the water is much colder than on other beaches we visited the days before. However, I found it very pleasant in the heat and it is crystal clear and simply heavenly to swim there and let yourself drift with the waves. Every now and then a stylish yacht comes by. There are no opportunities to buy anything directly on the beach and no shady spots, so be sure to bring a parasol, drinks and snacks. If you have forgotten your parasol or the wind is too strong, you can find a shady spot under the trees a few meters behind the dunes. Conclusion: beautiful beach, busy but not crowded, great but cold water, a must-visit not only for TikTokers

Castles
Old Navarino Fortress, also known as Palaiokastro, is located at the north end of the bay and has a rich history of different occupations. The Venetians captured it in 1686, followed by the Turks in 1715. This diverse history is reflected in the castle's architecture. During World War II, it served as a prison.
It was a nice hike. Takes around 2h normal pace. We took approach from lagoon side. We visited the Nestor cave along the path and then to the top to the ancient ruins. At the top you are rewarded with the great views. We descended on the east side of the hill. You follow a nice path and the descend on this side is much easier than via lagoon.
Peter K — Google review
Well worth the hike – amazing views! We hiked up to the Old Navarino Fortress, and it was totally worth it. The trail isn’t the easiest – it’s a bit rocky and steep in places – but once you get up there, the views are absolutely stunning. You can see Voidokilia Beach, the sea, and the whole area from above. It feels like a real adventure, and the ruins are impressive too. Make sure to wear proper shoes – this is not a flip-flop hike! Bring some water as well. If you’re up for a bit of a climb, it’s one of the best things to do in the area.
Andrei A — Google review
The hike up the mountain isn’t for everyone, but the breathtaking view from the top is worth it. You can freely explore the castle ruins, which is fascinating but a bit dangerous. I started the hike at sunrise in June, encountering large spider webs and spiders blocking the path. The path may be cleared later in the day, but early morning hikers should be cautious.
Gabriel F — Google review
We (a family of 5) visited the place on the last day of August. We walked along the fortifications (one needs be very careful) and watched a fascinating sunset. The place reminds one of times when Greece was divided amongst Frankish warlords following the sack of Constantinople during the fourth crusade in 1204, resulting in the dismemberment of the Eastern Roman Empire. Westerners have time and again sought their own materialistic goals under the guise of piety, and recently of "human rights". The Frankish castle is, however one beautifully situated monument. From the shore below, the hike takes about 30 minutes. Hiking shoes are a good idea. The view from above is well worth it.
Basheer A — Google review
The castle is abandoned by the state like many important monuments. However it is still worth visiting and the view to Voidokoilia beach is breathtaking.
Vasileios K — Google review
A nice hike to the top of the old fortress. Worth the hike to enjoy a spectacular view. We enjoyed the sunset as well from the top
Amira A — Google review
The fortress offers the best views of Voidokilia Beach and the Navarino Bay! You can reach it either from Voidokilia, via a steep path, with ropes, or via a longer, but easier hike from the other side of the lagoon. Either way, it's an awesome point of view! There is no tax and the fortress is wild, so be careful of snakes. We also found a lot of spiders. But the views are totally worth it!
Moni — Google review
A very beautifull view of the bay. Better to have good shoes and in the heat some water. There is a path but that is it. Free entry and no guards. The road to it by car is a dirtroad.

Kalamaris Waterfall is a natural wonder located in Yalova, just a 15-minute hike away from a verdant hill. The path to the waterfall takes you through an oak and pine tree forest, making for a picturesque journey. It's recommended to wear good shoes due to the thick vegetation surrounding the waterfall. Visiting in the summer offers refreshingly cool and clear water, perfect for a relaxing experience.
Very pretty natural area. The hike was shorter and easier than I had excepted.

Really nice and relax place, fun hike through thick forest
Matthijs L — Google review
The trail to the waterfall is manageable – a few steep sections, but doable even with light footwear. The path itself is quite an experience, with a jungle-like atmosphere that makes the walk enjoyable. That said, we could have skipped the hike: there was no water. The pool was covered with a white film, so swimming or cooling off wasn’t an option either. I’d say this spot is better suited for spring or autumn – definitely not ideal in the peak of summer.
Stefan B — Google review
Not a very long path... It appears well formed. On the other hand, there are some dangerous spots. One of them was too dangerous for me and nearly costed my life.. I slipped off and fell into the cliff... My wife saved me.. I couldn't save myself alone. Not recommended for children. You need a good pair of shoes. The scenery, not promising at all. There was no water falling... 29/7/25. Watch every step of yours and your partner's.
Γιάννης Κ — Google review
Depends on the time of year you plan to visit. During the summer with prolonged drought and high temps there is no water scaling the fall. Would still recommend though just for the lush greenery and the walk up to the fall.
Nikolaos O — Google review
Unfortunately the waterfall is dry and the path is quite difficult.
Ionut S — Google review
A wonderful place to visit in the middle of the summer as the water is refreshingly cool and clear. If you have young kids just watch out for a couple of places that need special attention as the wooden plank to cross over a stream and the final steep steps to reach the lake and the waterfall. To get there is relatively easy as long as you follow the signs from the road near Gialova. Any other root navigation takes you avoid it as it might take you up to a church where trekking is long and the way back had a steep uphill. Dive in the water and stay under the waterfall for a full experience. People do not stay long but as it is a small area it might get packed easily. Not popular yet but I have a feeling with the way the area is expanding in a couple of years there will be ques to visit. So just plan to visit it now before more people find out about it.

New Castle of Pylos, also known as Palaiokastro, is a significant historical landmark situated in Pylos, Greece. This fortified castle was constructed by the Byzantines in the 13th century and has played a crucial role in various conflicts over time. Offering stunning views of Navarino Bay, it attracts numerous visitors annually. The castle features free admission on specific dates and provides access to three museums inside.
The site features an archaeological area rich in history, complemented by three museums that showcase a variety of artifacts and exhibits related to the region's cultural heritage. Additionally, there is a historic church that has been converted into a mosque, further demonstrating the area's diverse religious background. Surrounded by stunning landscapes, this location invites visitors to immerse themselves in its profound historical significance and natural beauty.
Sanja A — Google review
A large castle site, with the keep offering a good view of the area. Large parts of the castle is lost to the undergrowth. They maintain the keep and the museum. Toilet signs are confusing, but they're in the keep (fort) up the hill. That disabled toilet has seen no use in months, if not years.
Tom ( — Google review
Lovers of fascinating antiquities will definitely enjoy the castle museums, while photography enthusiasts will find numerous photogenic locations and insta-spots. The city's history museum is definitely worth exploring, housing various artifacts of Greek history.
Vardan P — Google review
It is a superb example of 16th-century defensive architecture and features thick walls, bastions, and a hexagonal citadel. Exploring the ramparts and gateways gives you panoramic views over the sea and the town. To fully enjoy the experience, wear sturdy shoes and take your time navigating the steeper or uneven paths. The blend of sea, stone, and historical layers makes Niokastro a truly memorable visit.
Meltem K — Google review
A beautiful site giving spectacular views of the bay from the walls. Therebisca lot to see as the castle covers a large area.pne of the best sites I have visited in greece. It is possible to walk some areas of the walls but health and safety is not paramount in these places so it is neccesary to supervise children and care must be taken as there is no hand rails or barriers in place on steps and the walls. Had a great few hours there and it is well worth a visit. I think that the entrance fee was 10 euros but well worth the cost. There is also a museum on site. The site is slowly being renovated and I would like to visit some time in the future to see the results. But I think that completion is going to be a long way off. Beautiful area well worth the visit. We also did a boat tour of the bay with stops at historical sites and for swimming and snorkeling which was very interesting and informative. 20 euros for 3 hours.
Peter M — Google review
--- 8th October --- Beneath the cliffs where Nestor once did reign, And olive groves drank sun and salt and rain, A bay lay sleeping, wide and deep and still Till cannon roared to break an empire’s will. The mastheads rose like forests on the sea, Three nations met where Greece longed to be free. The wind grew loud with smoke and iron breath, And freedom danced between the jaws of death. No trumpet called, yet hearts like lightning burned. The tide of war had silently turned. Navarino - where tyrants met their fate, And Greece was lifted by the hand of fate. Not just by sword, but will and foreign grace, She carved her name on time’s eternal face. And though the ships are gone, the bay still knows The fire that fell, and the wind that rose.
Peyo H — Google review
Worth the visit. Admission gets you access to three museums and the archeological site. The views are breathtaking. There is a lot of climbing and walking.

Hiking area
Stenosia Waterfalls, also known as Kalamaris Waterfall, is a picturesque natural attraction located just 3km from Gialova. The waterfall is popular for its Instagram-worthy scenery and offers the opportunity to take refreshing swims in the natural pools beneath it. However, accessing the waterfall requires a certain level of physical fitness due to the potentially dangerous path. The trail is well-marked but can be challenging at points, with narrow paths and small stone or wooden bridges to navigate.
Great hike. But be careful some spots are dangerous. The enterance to the watter was muddy so not good for swiming but the surrounding nature was great.
Sam P — Google review
It's a breath of fresh air during hot summer days. There's a very nice and long walking trail, and a few waterfalls and picnic areas on the way. As you go down on the walking trail you can feel the temperature slowly falling - it's so refreshing :) Be aware there are very narrow areas, wet areas, forest like areas, stone rock areas, so some sneakers instead of the regular beach shoes should help you to go further and see more.
Anca T — Google review
Nice small waterfall in the middle of excellent nature surroundings. The distance from the street is very small but there are a couple of bridges to pass, not well maintained, which I wouldn't recommend for families with very young kids. In rest the walk is quite easy and the waterfall interesting to see. I personally wouldn't try to swim since the shore was quite muddy but the water looks very clean. This is an open area, so no ticket is needed and you can visit this place any time of the day. There are a couple of places to park just outside at the street free of charge.
Petros P — Google review
Really easy to get there but wouldn't recommend anyone under the age of 13 but if you're looking to swim don't bother but otherwise really pretty.
Ella-Sophia Q — Google review
I guess I came at a bad time, the path was blocked off for safety. I tried going past the first blockade, and that was fine, but then the path was totally washed out before the second blockade and after the blockade the path looked small enough for only a dog to go thru. I wish I could have seen the beautiful waterfall but unfortunately it was not meant to be today.
Ingrid H — Google review
The initial path is lovely and flat but to get to the main waterfall it is a bit tricky, wouldn’t recommend going there with small kids or those with some walking impediments. The area is mainly overgrown with bushes. The ground by the waterfall is muddy.
Lelde L — Google review
Relatively small and less explored waterfalls, so you get a more intimate and less crowded experience. The first water flows are just minutes away from the entrance signage. The waterfalls themselves are 10 minutes walk, where the last stage is a short but very steep path. There are some picnic tables which make the visit a worthwhile stop.
