Art Galleries
Pintô Art Museum, located in Antipolo City, is a captivating space that showcases contemporary and native Filipino art. The museum's mission-style buildings are surrounded by lush gardens, providing a tranquil setting for visitors to explore the extensive art collection. Established in 2010 as an extension of the creative sanctuary curated by founder Dr. Joven Cuanang, the museum features rotating exhibitions from renowned artists such as Elmer Borlongan and Rodel Tapaya.
I had the chance to visit Pinto Art Museum back in 2022, and it was truly a memorable and worthwhile experience. As a student, I was able to avail of a discounted entrance fee, which made the visit even more budget-friendly. During that time, the pandemic was still ongoing, so the crowd was minimal—there were probably only around ten guests during my entire visit, which gave the whole place an unusually serene and intimate atmosphere. The museum itself is impressively vast, with multiple galleries spread across a beautiful, open space filled with greenery and architectural charm. The artworks on display were diverse and visually captivating, each piece offering a unique perspective, from modern expressions to cultural reflections. While most of the museum felt calm and aesthetic, I have to admit that a few installations gave off an eerie or unsettling vibe. Perhaps it was the stillness of the place at the time, but it added an intriguing layer to the experience. Despite that, the visit was incredibly enjoyable. The combination of art, nature, and peaceful surroundings made it a refreshing escape from city life. Pinto Art Museum is definitely a must-visit destination for art lovers, photography enthusiasts, or anyone simply looking for a tranquil and inspiring spot in Antipolo.

We had such an enjoyable visit to the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo when visited the Philippines —it’s the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, where every gallery flows into lush gardens, courtyards, and peaceful corners to pause and take it all in. The Mediterranean-inspired buildings and open-air design made the whole experience feel serene, and the art itself was both thought-provoking and deeply Filipino in character. We loved wandering through the different exhibits, discovering surprises in each room, and then stepping outside to take in the beautiful grounds. It’s not just a museum—it feels like a retreat, and we left inspired, refreshed, and already talking about coming back.

Visited Pinto Art Museum and it was such a beautiful and peaceful experience. The art collection was stunning, with a mix of contemporary pieces and thought-provoking installations. Every corner felt like a photo spot — surrounded by lush gardens, whitewashed walls, and open spaces that make the whole place feel serene. It’s the perfect mix of art, nature, and quiet moments, ideal for a weekend escape from the city. Best to go early to avoid the crowds and enjoy the calm atmosphere. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — art for the soul and scenery for the heart. definitely worth the trip. 🌿✨

The no BS review. Price: 5/5 - 300 regular rate for adults and 150 for students. I can say that the price is definitely worth it. They have 7 galleries and other attractions. I honestly think they can ask for more considering how well maintained the place is. Atmosphere: 10/5 - I was never an art-lover but I think Pinto Art museum gave me a whole new perspective on the subject. It was immaculate. I don't want to give more details because I think you will only know or feel it once you do go to the museum. The place will require a bit of walking. It has a combination of both indoor and outdoor so bring an extra shirt or towel to wipe off the sweat. If you go there in the afternoon or on a hot day, they do have a strategically positioned cafe before entering gallery 4-7 to get refreshments. We spent 4 to 5hrs walking around and enjoying the art pieces. I really enjoyed it and 100% recommend Pinto Art Museum to every one including those who are not so.... artsy.
Carl C — Google review
Three things to keep in mind before visiting: 1. The exhibits are extensive, so expect to spend 2–3 hours if you want to see everything. 2. It can get quite hot inside, so bringing a portable fan is highly recommended. 3. There are a lot of mosquitoes, so insect repellent will come in handy. The museum features a fascinating range of works you won’t usually encounter in traditional galleries—satirical pieces, darker themes, mature art, and thought-provoking installations. On top of that, the museum itself is a beautiful structure and absolutely photogenic!!
Kana M — Google review
One day isn’t enough to explore the whole place — it’s really huge! I suggest wearing light clothes, especially during summer, since it can get quite hot and most galleries aren’t air-conditioned. Also, bring extra money in case you want to buy some art souvenirs to take home — there are plenty of unique pieces worth checking out!

Pinto opens the mind's eye to a realm distinct from the waking world. It's like walking in a dream... a wonderland of delight, of terror... of light, of horror. As one ascends and descends the steps and passes through the galleries, one hopes the traveler discovers insights about society, nature, and reflections of the soul. It's a transcendent experience..
Chewy C — Google review
Really enjoyed going here. 🩷 I loved the art and the blend of architecture and nature. I recommend bringing a fan, tissue and probably wet ones just to freshen up after walking, because it's kinda hot. Highly recommend going there.

Hinulugang Taktak is a picturesque protected landscape in Antipolo Rizal, known for its namesake waterfall. The name originates from a large bell that was thrown into the falls due to its loudness. It has become a popular tourist spot with beautiful surroundings and free entrance on Sundays. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as crossing hanging rope bridges, navigating a spider's web, and wall climbing while wearing helmets and using repels.
Hinulugang Taktak is a historical waterfall and a popular local destination known for its natural beauty and cultural significance. The falls are surrounded by a lush park that offers picnic areas, viewing decks, and walking paths, providing visitors with a scenic and relaxing environment. Recent restoration efforts have improved the cleanliness and accessibility of the area, making it a great spot for families, friends, and tourists to enjoy a day out in nature. While swimming in the falls is not currently allowed, the site remains a beloved landmark with its iconic cascade and a great spot for a quick escape from the city to reconnect with nature.
Tyler S — Google review
Nice view, but not much else going on. This place has a few rock climbing areas, spider walks, rope bridges, picnic areas, and a shrine. This place has a lot of potential, but of course, there is virtually NO maintenance or upkeep on this park. If this is privately owned, then they should charge admission so the park can be maintained properly. The same goes for if this is owned by the city. Much of the park was "under maintenance," yet there were no workers around, and a simple rope was tied, preventing admittance. Bring your own food since there are no cafes or snack shops on site. In short, it's nice that it's free, but this place needs maintenance or renovations.
R B — Google review
Hinulugang Taktak Falls is a national park of Brgy. Dela Paz, Antipolo, Rizal. This national park has frequent visitors throughout the weekend. There is a P45 charge for the parking fee, and the rest is free. Canopy Walk is a view deck from the tree connected by the hanging bridge but is under maintenance as of my visit last Dec 8, 2024. There is a steel spider Web similar to the Masungi Georeserve, where the visitors by cross the cobweb only to take selfie and group photos 20 meters above the side of the taktak falls. There is a rappelling activity on the other side near the walled gate of the park. I got abrasions in the knee due to the use of regular rubber shoes, where spiky shoes are recommended since the part of the ledge is slippery due to the moss. There is a wall climbing activity beside the Taktak Falls, and beside the wall climb is the old elevator shaft still operational. Since Antipolo is a Highland, the central park is 20 meters below, where you need to go down the stairs. The central park is wide, but be wary of the foul odour emitted by the Hinulugang Taktak Falls as the river beneath the Falls is bubbly, indicating that the water is highly polluted. There were gazebos on the other side of the river for group resting place. The swimming pool is available, but under maintenance as of my visit on Dec 8, 2024.

The best place to bring your family to enjoy nature and the amenities. A lot of activities you can try. Bring extra clothes as you will do these activities under the scorching sun.
Kayla G — Google review
The place is very good for a family bonding and family adventure but not for the family's picnic because the water has a smell. The personnel are very nice and very respectful and they will treat you really well. The parking lot is somewhat ok, and you will pay for 20 for a motorcycle. I just visited there today, March 25, 2023.

Very nice having free entrance today Sunday don't know if it was just special day or if every Sunday free cos most of week there 50 peso fee You have to show id and sign in at entrance having hanging rope bridge course a spider's web and wall climbing needing to wear helmets and repels Nice clean waterfall well maintained grounds There's a elevator to the river ground floor so easy access for disabled There's few bridges crossing to picnic nipa huts And there's toilets and swimming pool at the far end Large parking at front of entrance gate and a few venders selling snacks drinks didn't see any inside so bring your own food and take home your rubbish came here 15 years ago waterfall was full of rubbish and smelly but now great improvement 👍👍👍 recommend Very busy Sunday maybe because free entrance
Iain S — Google review
Although it is no longer allowed to swim in the falls itself, there's a swimming pool near it where families can enjoy and have fun. There are other activities as well like canopy walk, rappelling and the likes.

HONEST REVIEW FOR HINULUGANG TAKTAK 9/10 Scenery - You will really feel the nature. Full of greenery and trees. The falls is majestic. Would give a perfect score however the smell of the waterfalls is not good. 1/10 Parking - No designated parking. However for commuters, there is a tricycle toda in front of the entrance. 4/10 Picnic Area - Very Very limited tables. You can bring your food inside but that doesn't give you 100% assurance that you will have a table. If you want to secure one I suggest you go after opening hours. 4/10 Swimming Area - The pool is refreshing however the visitors are too much especially in weekends and holidays. You will not enjoy that much beating the heat in a pool with 150 people in it. 5/10 Service - Queue line in the entrance takes too long, you need to manually write your name in their registration form and provide an ID. The staffs really sont do anything instead of look at your ID. This makes the queur time konger because of confused visitors. There are no shops inside, so i suggest you buy your food and drinks before coming. OVERALL SCORE 4/10 : Good for first time goers alwho wants to see the waterfall, however, i don't recommend this place for leisure.

Church
Antipolo Cathedral houses a 17th-century wooden statue of the Virgin Mary which attracts pilgrims. It is a popular destination for those who seek to have their vehicles blessed, with ample space to accommodate parishioners even during the pandemic. The church also offers rosaries in their shop and requires registration and a receipt for vehicle blessings, which take place at 7:30 AM. Overall, Antipolo Cathedral is a good location with a nice atmosphere for worship and devotion.
I visited Antipolo Cathedral, one of the local attractions in Antipolo, Philippines. Thanks to my visit during Holy Week in May, I was able to witness the parade firsthand. This parade takes place annually on May 1st and during Holy Week, with numerous faithful walking approximately 30km from Quiapo Church in Manila to Antipolo Cathedral. The event begins the night before and continues into the dawn mass. During Holy Week, pilgrims walk to the cathedral from Thursday evening until Friday dawn, which is said to represent participation in Jesus's suffering. The duration of the parade varies depending on the starting point and individual pace, but it generally takes about 6 to 8 hours. Particularly during the May 1st 'Alay Lakad,' millions of pilgrims participate, and during Holy Week as well, countless faithful join the walking pilgrimage. This large-scale event has established itself as a symbolic occasion that demonstrates the deep roots of Filipino Catholic faith and the solidarity of the community. The parade at Antipolo Cathedral was a special experience that went beyond a simple religious event, allowing one to experience faith, tradition, and community solidarity. The inspiration and awe I felt during participation will likely remain in my memory for a long time.

We went as a family for mass and car blessing. There was available parking inside the church premises. The church main hall is spacious and well ventilated with dome shaped roof. Daily masses are done in hourly basis in Tagalog language. There is a restroom and resting lounge beside the church near the office. It was the most cleanest and looks very fancy for a washroom/toilet, far more better than most malls in Metro Manila!

The Antipolo Cathedral, officially recognized as the Philippines’ International Shrine, is a truly meaningful and sacred destination. It offers a serene and solemn atmosphere ideal for prayer, reflection, and devotion. The recent improvements to the facilities are also commendable. The newly renovated comfort room is clean, well-maintained, and pleasantly fragrant, providing added comfort for all visitors. Whether you are a pilgrim, a tourist, or a local parishioner, a visit to this historic and spiritual site is always a worthwhile experience.

I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting at this cathedral. It’s an interesting mixture of old and new, with more new than old. Somehow it works. I don’t know why, but it does. I thought it was interesting that there is plenty of space for people to watch Mass outside, including an ancient Jumbotron. Such, I suppose, it is the devotion of Filipino Catholics. I look forward to visiting this place again in my next trip to the Philippines, as it’s not very far from our house there.

I visited Antipolo Cathedral during my first long motorcycle ride—a memorable milestone for me. This is where I bought a rosary specifically for my motorcycle and had it blessed, hoping it would bring me road safety and guidance on all my future journeys. The cathedral is best known as the home of the 17th-century image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje). Devotees from all over the country, especially travelers, visit the shrine to offer prayers and seek blessings before long trips. The tradition dates back to the Spanish colonial era when Filipino sailors and migrants would pray here before departing for Mexico through the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. Even today, the practice of alay-lakad (offering walk) remains strong—many pilgrims walk from Manila to Antipolo as an act of devotion, especially during Holy Week or May, the month of the Virgin Mary. Antipolo Cathedral isn’t just a religious landmark; it’s also a symbol of protection and guidance for travelers like myself. The place is vibrant with faith, and visiting it added both spiritual meaning and emotional depth to my motorcycle journey.

Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Spanish: Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje) or also known as Our Lady of Antipolo, is a 17th-century wooden Roman Catholic statue. The black Madonna is enshrined in the Antipolo Cathedral. The Antipolo Cathedral in the Philippines was also declared the first international shrine in the Philippines and Asia. (Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage) This shows that Catholicism was introduced in the Philippines about 500 years ago and that the faith has deeply penetrated the culture, thought, heart, and history of the Filipino people. This place is famous for its 17th-century wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, which attracts pilgrims from all over the world. The wooden statue was brought to the country in 1626 by Mexican Governor Juan Niño de Tabora on the El Almirante galleon. His safe voyage across the Pacific is attributed to this image, which was given the title "Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage." This was later proven by the other six consecutive and successful voyages of the Manila-Acapulco galleon, which led to the belief that the safe voyage was made because of statue. The Black Jesus statue, entrusted to an unknown priest in 1606, was also carried across the Pacific on a galleon that arrived in Manila and was brought to the Philippines, where it is currently housed in the Quiapo Cathedral. The Black Jesus statue, which came from Mexico, is a statue of Jesus Christ kneeling on one knee and holding a large wooden cross, and his skin is depicted in black. It is thought that the black appearance of Christ reflects the culture of the Mexican indigenous people. It is also known as the Black Nazarene. The wooden Virgin Mary in the Antipolo Cathedral is also depicted in black. The Manila Galleon was a Spanish sailing ship that sailed annually (once a year) across the Pacific Ocean between Manila, Philippines and Acapulco, Mexico between 1565 and 1815. It also refers to the trade route between Manila and Acapulco itself. The ship was the only means of communication between Spain and its Philippine colonies, and served as an economic lifeline for the Spanish in Manila. The Spanish in Manila became so dependent on the annual ships that when the ships sank at sea or were captured by British pirates, the colony suffered economic depression. The Manila Galleon was not only a very important means of communication between Spain and the Philippines, but also had a significant economic impact. During the heyday of the galleon trade, Manila became one of the world's largest ports, serving as a hub for trade between China and Europe. Chinese silk was the most important cargo, but other exotic goods such as perfume, porcelain, cotton (from India), and jewelry were also transshipped on the galleons. After unloading in Acapulco, the cargo usually made a profit of 100-300%. On the return voyage, the ship brought back to the Philippines a huge amount of Mexican silver and Spanish correspondence. The Manila galleons were mainly loaded with Chinese goods shipped from Manila. The Manila galleon route was an early example of globalization, representing a trade route from Asia to the Americas, which connected the continents and created a global silver trade. In 2015, the Philippines and Mexico, with support from Spain, began preparations to list the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade Route as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Spain also proposed that the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Archives be listed by three countries in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Pope Pius XI issued an Apostolic Constitution in 1925 crowning the image. This statue is one of the most famous images of Mary in the Philippines. Every year from May to July, the image attracts millions of pilgrims from all over the Philippines and abroad. Its feast day is the first Tuesday of May. There is also a story about how the Virgin Mary chose the place where she wanted to build her church. It is said that the Virgin Mary appeared to the Tipolo tree in Antipolo and that is how the Antipolo Cathedral was built.

Great collection, labeling, and display design. We thoroughly enjoyed it. More sineage needed after entrance to go to counter where museum admission would be paid for.

Very lousy customer service 👎👎👎 I called up their landline +63285843199 on Oct 30 around 9:30AM and a certain May answered the phone. I clarified about the location, landmark, operating hours and cost considering that it would be 8 persons who were going to visit the Casa Santa. She was excited to tell me this: Ma'am, tamang-tama meron kaming promo ngayon for the entrance fee: 5 pax + 1 free. I responded to her: Oh great! Pupunta kami dyan mamaya. 1st time namin at mangagaling pa kami ng Taguig City. After getting all the aforementioned details, we decided to go to Casa Santa, Rizal. We arrived there past 3PM and we looked for their Admin Office. We had a hard time looking for their office where we could pay for the entrance fee. Finally, we tried knocking on one of the doors there and staff Beverly spoke to us. She told us that the promo 5+ 1 ended and no longer valid. We got very disapppointed when we heard it from her. We still insisted on the promo info provided to us earlier and told her that we travelled all the way from Manila. Despite the major inconvenience this had caused us, Beverly told us that they could not give us the promo, only the regular fee. What made the situation worst, she was not apologetic at all and even reasoned out that the staff who answered the phone was not privy to the details. As if the staff was not part of the company she's working for. She was inconsiderate and insensitive! 😔😡

Staff is charging us 1,800. They said it was the minimum charge good for 10pax. We didn't go inside. It's just too much. We were only 2 people. I don't think 1,800 is worth it.

Nestled in the enchanting hills of Antipolo, Philippines, Mystical Cave is a mesmerizing natural wonder that beckons adventurers and spiritual seekers alike. This captivating cave showcases an array of stunning limestone formations, including impressive stalactites and stalagmites that create a breathtaking underground landscape. Visitors are often drawn to its serene ambiance and the legends surrounding it—tales of mystical images resembling religious figures like Jesus and Mary have added to its allure.
An excellent place to visit! While the walk to the main entrance of the cave can be challenging, the experience inside is truly rewarding and satisfying.
Marlon's A — Google review
Tucked away in a very remote village, the Mystical Cave is quite a site to behold. If you are travelling by motorcycle, the road leading to is very precarious and so it's better to park at the juncture of where the cement factory entrance and beginning of the village starts, then take a tricycle (about 100 pesos) to the actual cave site. Inside the cave there are lots of bats and you can hear them echo locate constantly overhead. If you're afraid of bats, be aware. Inside the cave is, as the name implies, "mystical". It is lit with a string of lights but it is still recommended to bring your own flashlight. Many strange outer-worldly looking rock formations, stalactites and stalagmites strewn the interior of the cave and it goes quite deep. For the more adventuresome, there are a few tunnels that are quite horrifying looking. Definitely an unsettling feeling, but if you're an experienced caver, you'll probably be right at home. The random locals will try to push "tours" and unofficial "entrance fees" onto you. But you're better off just doing your own exploration. About 1.5 hours drive from Makati.
Forty F — Google review
Mystical Cave is perfect for anyone looking for a bit of adventure — with a short trek and an underground cave exploration. As someone who enjoys a challenge, I tried both! First, there's a 20–30 minute uphill trek (depending on your pace). It’s a bit tiring, but refreshing. At the top, you’ll get to enjoy beautiful mountain views — a nice reward before heading back down. After that, we started the Mystical Cave tour. The inside of the cave is cool and quiet, and our guide shared interesting stories about its history and natural formation. After about 30–45 minutes, you’ll reach the end of the main path, where you can see beautiful stalagmite formations that almost look like natural crystals — really amazing to see up close. But if you're up for more adventure, there's a lower section of the cave that's more challenging. The path gets steep, and the man-made ladder there isn’t very sturdy, so be extra careful. It’s also dark, so a flashlight is a must. I made it through, but it wasn’t easy! You’ll need to crawl or slide through tight openings, and even “dive” into narrow parts — it's not for the faint of heart. Overall, it was a fun and challenging experience — definitely worth it if you’re into nature and adventure. 🗺️ Commute Guide: From LRT-2, transfer to an e-trike, jeep, or e-bus going to Antipolo. From Antipolo proper, take a tricycle to Mystical Cave. -If you're in a group (4 pax), it's around ₱50 per person. -If you're alone, expect to pay for a special trip (higher fare).
Alexis — Google review
It's undeniably beautiful with its amazing rock formations (and stories as well as meanings behind it) and sparkling crystals! However, for me who's not that adventurous, the steep paths and heights make it difficult for me. The upper cave area is stunning, but getting to the lower part requires going narrow passages. While breathtaking, this cave may not be suitable for everyone due to the challenging terrain.
Veronica G — Google review
Totally worth the inexpensive entrance fee of ₽50 per person. The caves are full of stalactites and stalagmites dripping water from the ceiling. Various rock formations and intriguing lime deposits shows mystical figures. There’s a face of Jesus, resting Jesus, Mary and child, and the Holy Spirit - all in the limestone.

Who would have thought that there is a cave in Antipolo just an hour and a half drive from Metro Manila. The view on the peak is beautiful although you have to climb a lot of stairs. Be careful as there are green molds in every staircase which make them slippery. There are cottages where you can eat your snacks. There is an entrance fee but no parking area. Just leave your car along the road. The road going here is not cemented so be ready for a rough road drive. There is no public transportation going here as it is comparable to a hidden place, you will not find neighborhood within the compound.

The cavern is quiet large. Many interesting rock formations. Some unfortunately damaged. There is some light inside but not efficient so it is better to bring your own torch. To reach the entrance you have to climb 150 m up from the road. The entrance fee is 50 PHP per person. One may follow up the path up (300 m) to reach viewpoint with a cross.

Interesting cave attraction near Metro Manila. There is the basic tour and an advanced tour in which you need caving equipment. We just availed of the basic tour. Most of the rock formations in the cave are religious depictions. The tour guide was helpful, explaining well and also taking our group shots. Since we didn't have time to climb up to the white cross, I just used a drone to capture the beautiful views at the top.

Masungi Georeserve, a 1,600-hectare conservation area located in Baras, Rizal, offers guided trails and ropes courses through its protected rainforest preserve. Managed by passionate groups and individuals, the georeserve aims to promote sustainable geotourism and educate visitors about conservation. Nestled within lush rainforests and limestone formations on the southern part of the Sierra Madre mountain range, it has become a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a unique experience.
Masungi Georeserve Hike – A Magical Escape into Nature Masungi Georeserve is hands-down one of the most breathtaking hiking experiences I’ve ever had in the Philippines. From the moment we entered the reserve, we were immersed in a lush, limestone-rich landscape that felt like stepping into a hidden paradise. The trail was well-guided and thoughtfully designed—not too easy, not too hard—perfect for nature lovers looking for a bit of adventure. The highlights? Definitely the Sapot, a giant web-like viewing platform with a jaw-dropping view of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Then there’s Ditse, Patak, at Duyan, where you walk on hanging bridges and giant hammocks suspended over limestone formations—super thrilling and Instagram-worthy! Our park ranger was knowledgeable and passionate about conservation, which added so much meaning to the experience. Masungi isn’t just a hike—it’s a lesson in environmental stewardship, local flora and fauna, and sustainable tourism. If you’re looking to disconnect from city stress and reconnect with nature, I highly recommend visiting Masungi. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and deeply inspiring.

A truly immersive experience awaits those in search of a tranquil sanctuary, far removed from the relentless hustle and bustle of a polluted city below. As you set off on the hike towards one of the renowned peaks, you are enveloped by an enchanting atmosphere filled with calm and serenity. The gentle rustle of leaves and the soft chirping of birds accompany your journey, creating a soothing symphony of nature that’s both meditative and revitalizing. Each step you take clears your mind, allowing you to reconnect not only with the vibrant surroundings but also with your own senses. This hike transcends the mere idea of adventure; it transforms into a journey of soulful healing and introspection. Upon reaching the majestic spider web, you are spellbound by the breathtaking beauty of Mother Nature, often overlooked in our daily grind. The gentle caress of the wind, the warm embrace of sunlight that kisses your skin, and the invigorating scent of fresh earth and foliage all converge to revitalize your spirit. This awe-inspiring moment leaves you with a profound appreciation for the intricate wonders that the natural world bestows upon us. I am eagerly looking forward to returning, eager to make this stunning landscape my weekend retreat or holiday escape. Until we meet again!

We went hiking here for my cousin’s girlfriend’s birthday— and it was a wonderful experience. You could see how passionate the staff were there in preserving the place’s geographical health and habitat for the animals that resides in Masungi. The guide that was assigned to us was very friendly; she knew the ins and outs of the place and was accommodating in assisting us in taking photos. I’ve heard that there was a recent controversy around the place but as far as I can tell, the people that runs the georeserve were genuine in taking good care of the place WHICH IS A PLUS !! Anyways, I highly recommend for everyone to visit if you want an easy and fun way to reconnect with nature. Don’t expect a ordinary hike though, since there’ll be a lot of gimmicky obstacles a long the way— regardless, a fun experience still.

We were here as part of a group trip. It took time to enter. We waited for 30 minutes in the bus before the tour started. Our group was divided to smaller groups and assigned a guide. The tour was informative and exhilarating. There was some trouble with the food which I hope the management can handle better.

The Discovery Trail was a truly immersive experience with nature not far away, just one hour, from Metro Manila. It emphasizes the important conservation work that local volunteers do to maintain the forests and also encourages conversations around ensuring sustainability by being one with nature and having the belief that we all are just visitors so we should have respect for the next one that comes after us. I personally found the hike to be challenging, although it was being marketed as beginner-friendly, because some parts of the trail could get very narrow and you really have to have the strength to hold on to the trees, handles, or ropes. That being said, the local ranger is helpful and offers alternative routes if the group finds it too challenging. If I were to suggest anything, that would be to provide a waiting area for guests — we were told online that we should arrive 15 minutes early; we did, but when we were there, they wouldn’t allow us to enter. What were we supposed to do in the parking lot? Also, there should be more cubicles for changing clothes after the trail. Other than those, visiting Masungi is a very good experience

Six months after my visit, I can confidently say that Masungi Georeserve changed my life. I'm not exaggerating or using hyperbole at all here. I used to always think of myself as a cowardly person. I wasn't even necessarily ashamed of it; it was just something about me. I was the one who chickened out of roller coasters, was scared of heights, scared of bugs, scared of lots of harmless things. At Masungi, I was faced with a choice. Take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on the other side of the globe from where I live to do something amazing and unlike anything I'd ever done before, seeing some of the most beautiful sights on earth, or chicken out as I always did and regret it forever. And it was so beautiful there, and our guide was so kind and knowledgeable and inspired so much confidence, that I found, to my surprise, that I was able to do it—the whole course, never taking the easy option. Suspended hundreds of feet over the ground, looking out at the gorgeous vista with my family, full of adrenaline and endorphins and amazement, I almost couldn't believe that I'd done it. My husband of 14 years was shocked because it was so out of character. And it was so incredibly worth it. It was a unique, beautiful, exhilarating, unforgettable experience, and one that I will treasure always. Perhaps best of all, the experience opened my eyes to the fact that I didn't have to accept being cowardly as an inherent personality trait. I could be brave if I wanted to! It's been extending to so many other things in my life since then, and it turns out that life is easier when you're not held back by irrational fears. It feels very odd but exciting. Thank you, Masungi Georeserve, for preserving nature with such care and passion, for sharing that passion with others, and for changing my life.

We took a private Sunrise Trail and it was an amazing experience! We did the longer Discovery Trail a few years ago and wanted to try something different this time coz we had a kid in the group younger than 13 y.o. The Sunrise Trail is a a hike on the limestones but has cemented pathways/stairs all the way through, going up is 600 steps. We got there early but the weather was not inclement so we waited for the rain to let up a bit. Our tourism officer, Marjun, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We had helmets on for the tricky cave-like sections of the trail. It's quite a steep ascent but the view from above was stunning! After the hike, we were handed ice-cold towels (badly needed!) and bowls of delish arroz caldo and tea and coffee. Wonderful experience and a must for every outdoor enthusiasts. We learn about flora and fauna and the georeserve's mission. Always happy to support good causes!

Daranak Falls, located in the municipality of Tanay, is a popular destination in Rizal province. This 20-meter high waterfall is surrounded by lush vegetation and ponds, making it a serene escape. Nestled at the foot of the Tanay mountains, it offers a deep catch basin and picnic areas for visitors to relax and enjoy nature.
Daranak Falls never gets old. This is my second time visiting. The water is clean, clear, and cold, making it perfect for swimming, especially during hot weather. We had so much fun swimming and jumping into the water. It's even better now compared to my first visit back in 2018. During that time, it was summer, so there wasn't much water falling from the falls. There are plenty of cottages available, with the lowest priced at 200 pesos. However, we didn't rent a cottage and just sat on the roots of the big trees. The entrance fee is now 75 pesos. There are also plenty of life vests and floaters available for rent. The road to Daranak has also improved as it's now paved all the way to the entrance, unlike before when it was just a rough road.

I'll give it a 5-star rating! Daranak Falls and campsite in Tanay, Rizal, exceeded my expectations. The river has crystal-clear water, and the surrounding environment is well-maintained and peaceful. We visited last Thursday, and it wasn't too crowded, which added to the serene experience. The scenic views and lush greenery made it a perfect spot for nature lovers and adventure seekers. I highly recommend this destination for a relaxing getaway or a fun camping trip with family and friends.

We went here spontaneously. The view was breathtaking especially around 4pm the sun helps the water falls looks sparkly and made the entire place mesmerizing. The water is clear. This place is very perfect for quick unplug away from cities. The staff here are very accommodating and they clean the tables well. The place near waterfalls is clean except in the restroom or shower room that needs improvement. There are also cute stray dogs and cats.
Veronica V — Google review
Getting to Daranak Falls is quite easy—the road is good, not too steep, and there’s ample parking space for both motorcycles and cars. The falls themselves are beautiful. While the water isn’t crystal clear, the color of the falls is still gorgeous, and the temperature is pleasantly cool but not too cold—perfect for relaxing tired muscles after a long ride. I recommend visiting on weekdays if you can, since weekends can get crowded. However, even with many visitors, the swimming area is very spacious, so you’ll still be able to enjoy the experience. Overall, Daranak Falls is a great spot to unwind, appreciate nature, and enjoy a refreshing swim.

My recent visit to Daranak Falls was truly wonderful. Its natural beauty and the serenity of the location were so refreshing. Swimming in the clean waterfalls was a highlight, and I appreciated the friendly staff and the environment-friendly ambiance. I even tried some rock balancing! The availability of activities like river trekking really makes the visit complete.
Riza M — Google review
Nice falls but when it’s rainy season the water turns brown. But it’s still very clean and a nice and cold swim. There are restroom and you can shower afterwards. 75 per person entrance fee and 200 per table.
Tin A — Google review
honest review. Not nice, not clean, they just keep accepting guests even though there are no more available tables/cottages. They just keep accepting the visitors, even the place is overcrowded, in fact there is no space to put your things… “the shower rooms, and the toilets are so disgusting, sloppy with dirt and stink” This is the result of poor maintenance. And it seems there’s no consumer protection. You know you paid right, but it seems that the employees here only accept payment for their own sake and profit, but they do not care about the welfare of their guests because they think the guests are scum and low class. When I exited, I mentioned to one of the employees that I was concerned that their toilets and shower rooms was dirty and stinky, instead of accepting criticism, the employee speaks too much and doesn’t like to accept negative comments.

Daranak Falls is an amazing place to visit if you’re looking to relax and connect with nature. The water is crystal clear and cool, perfect for a refreshing dip, and the whole area is surrounded by lush greenery. The falls themselves are absolutely beautiful, and the sound of the water adds to the peaceful vibe. Just a heads up, the river can be a bit strong, so it’s not ideal for kids, but it’s great for adults who want to enjoy the calm and beauty of the place. The snack options are limited, so I recommend bringing your own food, but overall, Daranak Falls is definitely worth the visit!

Nestled in Antipolo, Philippines, the Hinulugang Taktak Protected Landscape is a breathtaking national park renowned for its magnificent waterfall and serene natural environment. Once plagued by pollution, this stunning site has been undergoing revitalization efforts since 2018, spearheaded by local authorities and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
I love it when a specific place offers free entrance, just like this one. It’s perfect for a low-budget gala. I hope every city invests in parks or places like this, especially now that going out has become so expensive. These days, we often have to spend on coffee shops, cinema tickets, or fast food just to enjoy ourselves when we're bored. We need more places like this where we can relax without spending too much money. They say the smell of the falls isn't pleasant, but for me, it was tolerable. In fact, we (humans) are the ones responsible for that smell, since we continue to pollute bodies of water in the cities. I really hope we can preserve more natural places like this. There are also a few fun activities to try, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. We didn’t get to try everything because the activities had already closed. There are also lots of cottages available! You should definitely visit this place it feels like an escape from the city.

We visited last Labor Day, May 1, 2025 and this place has its pros and cons, depending on what you're looking for: Pros: - Very accessible. LRT to Antipolo, then tuktuk worth 60 pesos. - Place and activities are free. - Surrounded by nature and has very relaxing ambience. - Street vendors are available outside. Cons: - Every activity is no longer available, except the spider web. - Place and activities are free. Expect to have no empty seats/huts, very crowded, and bit unhygienic. - Pipes from the comfort room goes directly to the water from the falls, and thus the bad odor all around. - People are no longer able to go near the falls. - Not much any thing to do anymore. Our main goal is to do the activities and so we're very disappointed to know almost all are no longer available.

Hinulugang Taktak in Antipolo City is a convenient nature escape, being one of the nearest waterfalls to Metro Manila—and with no entrance fee, it's budget-friendly too. Ideal for nature lovers and those who enjoy outdoor walks, it offers scenic views and peaceful surroundings. However, the water has a strong unpleasant smell, and it's not advisable to go near the falls as the splash, combined with wind, can be uncomfortable. The long staircase going down is also not stroller or wheelchair-friendly and can be tiring for some. Tip: Wear comfy shoes, enjoy the view from a distance, and avoid bringing bulky gear if you plan to walk around.

Antipolo City local government deserves a shout out for maintaining this place and most importantly, free entry for all! The place even have swimming pool free for use which is really good especially for kids who want to beat the heat. The waterfall looks great and the smell was tolerable and does not slap you in the face stench. Maybe because the water flow is rapid due to previous rains. The entrance fee is free and parking fee is charged only for those having their own private vehicles. Highly recommended to be visited in Antipolo City especially for local tourist who visited the Antipolo Cathedral which is very near.

The place is beautiful and clean. Toilets are clean. The water from the falls is not clean and it's smelly I hope the city government can implement changes that can lead to a good clean up drive

A beautiful and secure small haven for all the family. A hidden gem quite far from Metro Manila but worth every traffic jam. Relaxing waterfall, pools for everyone for a small fee, endemic fauna to spend at your leisure and the spider web for those brave enough. A must stop for any traveler.

Nestled in the picturesque Barangay Tandang Kutyo of Tanay, Rizal, Calinawan Cave is a captivating destination that combines natural beauty with rich historical significance. This intriguing cave system features multiple levels and chambers adorned with stunning stalactites and stalagmites, making it a must-visit for adventure seekers. Guided tours are available to help you navigate through its depths while learning about its past as a hideout for Filipino resistance fighters during World War II.
Went on a Monday and there was no wait. The fee was 360php for two people including entrance, tour guide, and parking. We were given helmets for safety since there are parts that are very low and you need to crawl/bend under (Applicable for 3rd-5th level). To visit the 3rd-5th level, you'll pay a consideration fee to the tour guide since only the first 2 levels are included in the base fee. The whole tour was pleasant, we were given stories about the cave's history and were asked every step of the way if we're willing to experience things such as zero visibility, going through small holes, etc.

Calinawan Cave is a majestic spot worth visiting! Exploring the cave was an unforgettable experience—the rock formations and natural beauty inside were stunning. After the cave tour, we headed down the mountain and enjoyed a refreshing dip in the river. Although the water was a bit murky, it didn’t take away from the fun. Overall, it’s a great place for adventure and nature lovers!

An incredible nature creature. It's one of the few Karst solutional cave in the Philippines. There is parking; however, the road to the tour center is uneven, luckily they have signage in every crossing. Tour guide is really friendly, and introduces us the details in the cave. The tour guide fee is 200 pesos, parking fee 20 pesos, and 70 per pax for the entrance fee. The cave has five layers totally according to the guide (0 visibility in the 2nd layer and below), If you wanna go to the 3rd layer below, you have to pay extra to the guide (price may varies). The total time of adventure is about 20 to 35 minutes and the cave is not developed at all. In conclusion, it's an impressive adventure experience and we enjoyed it a lot. Please do not touch any nature creatures inside the cave, let's keep this unique spot alive.

A must visit place if u r in the area, it has a history and u have to take a guide to enter the caves, entrance fee and guide is at the location, but the guide takes u to main chambers within the caves, once u come toward the end, they ask for additional pay if u want to see the remaining chambers which is ur choice, but the guides are good help with photos and quiet friendly. The only issue is the road is bad to reach there, but it’s fine

I booked a tour with an agency and the Calinawan Cave was part of the activities. I didn't expect much but it was really nice! There's 2 options in the cave, one is they will show you the first 2 level and the other option is what I think is the best to fully experience the cave. They will make you crawl to go deeper into the cave and the guides enjoy taking pictures for you! You will enjoy it if you are the adventurous type of person!

Place is really nice and secluded. It's perfect for disconnecting and unwinding. Property is huge but a lot of the facilities need improving as they are either old or worn down. The restroom by the club house was quite smelly and the shower /water had very low pressure which made it hard to use. There was also a mysterious case of underpants in the restroom (probably left behind by a guest?). 😳😬🤦🏻‍♀️ A lot of the activities we expected to do (kayaking, fishing, etc) were not available due to pandemic. I just wish this was mentioned when i asked during booking to save me from disappointment. The only thing you can do there now is go around the property, look at the animals (mostly chickens, some ostriches, a horse, some ducks, bunnies, etc) and the plants, basically be surrounded by nature, and swim in the pool. Oh and they had ATVs for rent but idk if it's worth it when you're just going around the property with nothing much to see, really. There's also a lot of bugs but they do warn you about that. Overall, still enjoyed our time here.

A very huge place, nice environment and landscape, good for team building school field trips. The facilitators are welcoming and they take those with health problems (such as asthma) into consideration, as the activities are very tiring and demanding. The only main con of this place is that cellular signal is very weak and sometimes non existent.

Stayed for an overnight at Villa Elisha, attached are the photos, structure is somewhat old, if you want to relax and detach for awhile, plenty of books available to browse, very poor signal of Globe while just fine for Smart. Ambiance of nature is very satisfactory, with 3 rooms and 4 t&b.

This place is awesome to disconnect and reconnect with nature. Spent a day here with my wife to do our annual day of prayer and planning. You can bring your family here for a day-tour or you may choose to have an overnight stay in one of their cabins. You may also try Samgyup sa Farm. Not bad for the price.

Perfect for a Company Team Building program. Ambiance here is really cool where you feel very far from the city away from pollutions and stress because of its nature feels. There are lots of activities where you will test your mind and skills in terms of speed, strength, agility, balance and also the team work that will sweat your whole body and drained your strength. Expect that you'll get dirt. Hahaha. What disappoints me here are the shower rooms. I guess they need to provide more shower rooms so there will be no shortage of shower rooms if they accomodate hundreds of pax. But I commend all their staffs which are very accomadating and very nice.

The road up might be a bit of a climb, but reaching the top rewards you with sweeping views and a quiet, peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding. The scenery is breathtaking whether you’re catching the morning mist, watching the sunrise, or just sipping coffee while nestled in your tent. Speaking of tents, this place is ideal for pitching one and settling in for the night. The cool air, open skies, and fresh breeze make it a cozy experience, especially when shared with friends or loved ones. There’s nothing quite like waking up above the clouds, listening to birds, and watching the morning light spill across the horizon. It’s not a luxury resort, and it doesn’t try to be. But if you're chasing serenity, starlit evenings, and the simple joy of a warm drink with a view, this spot delivers. Just be sure to pack warm clothes, a sturdy tent, and your favorite brew you’ll want to stay a while.

Nice and peaceful. But there were lots of people when we visited, so we were not able to try the activities. The staff need more training in management and servicing. You need to pay for each activity, and the entrance fee is separate.
James D — Google review
The view here is amazing, especially if you get there early enough to catch the sea of clouds. It feels like you’re above the clouds—super relaxing and definitely Instagram-worthy. The place is pretty chill. It’s not too hard to get to, even if you’re not super outdoorsy. The hike is very beginner-friendly (more like a short walk). We didn’t book a tour, just went on our own and paid the entrance fee. It’s budget-friendly too, which is nice. They have some spots where you can set up a tent or just hang out. There’s also a small cafeteria where you can grab food and drinks—nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

Treasure Mountain is a great spot for a quick escape from the city! It’s super refreshing up there — you get amazing views of the mountains and the peaceful vibe of the Sierra Madre. I stayed overnight in a tent, which was a fun experience. In the morning, you can catch the sea of clouds, and at night, you can just lay back and stargaze — super relaxing! I booked through their Facebook page, and it came with free breakfast and coffee. They’ll give you a meal stub when you arrive. If you’re up for some adventure, they also have cool activities like an obstacle course, giant swing, ATV rides, and more. It’s a fun place for a barkada trip, or even if you just want some quiet time in nature. Highly recommend it if you want to unwind without going too far from Metro Manila!

If you’re Nature Lover, this is the place. Madre Mountain range and SEA of clouds. You have to be there early before sunrise to witness the amazing SEA of clouds. Considered as the no-hike mountain. Beginner friendly for hiking. The view was amazingly beautiful 🤩 Enjoy an overnight stay in Tanay and gaze up at the stars decorating the night sky. Entrance fee is ₱180.
Tet, Y — Google review
Beautiful views, lots of activities to do. We did the whole obstacle course and it was so fun! There might be a bit of wait until your turn, but there’s plenty of other spots to check-out like the rock formation and view deck. The restaurant could be improved, but we saw there’s some construction ongoing so we can maybe expect more facilities in the future.
J — Google review
The place is accessible. From the main road, you can ride a tricycle for 100 pesos per person to Treasure Mountain. The place offers a variety of activities and amenities. They offer different rooms and tents for overnight stays, as well as various adventure activities like the giant swing, ATV rentals, and an obstacle course. The place has great views of the mountains and nature, making it a good spot for taking photos. The entrance fee is 180 pesos per person, granting access to different Instagrammable views and scenery. The price offers good value, in my opinion. They also have a common area for eating and relaxing, with a cafe offering a variety of coffee, beverages, and alcoholic drinks. Additionally, there's a canteen/restaurant serving different dishes and snacks. The bathrooms are clean. After taking a ton of photos and videos, we tried their sinigang and pancit sisig. The pancit sisig is a must-try when visiting this place. The place can be muddy and slippery at times, so be careful with your steps. Exploring the place can be tiring, so it's best to be prepared with drinking water. Overall, it's a very good place to visit, especially for photo opportunities.

Angono, often celebrated as the Art Capital of the Philippines, is a vibrant hub for art enthusiasts. A visit to this charming town wouldn't be complete without exploring Angono Street Murals along Dona Aurora Street. This captivating stretch showcases stunning murals and sculptured walls created by talented artists like Charlie Anorico, Gerry Batang, and Ebong Pinpino. The artworks pay homage to the renowned national artist Carlos Botong V.
GREAT, HISTORIC PLACE, MUST VISIT

One whole street with murals from the works of Botong Francisco, a national artist in the Philippines. It's one of its kind in the world, and even the barangay hall is adorned with artworks. Interesting to see if you're in town.

Actually what is called murals are in fact reliefs painted in golden brown. Some of them depict historical moments in Filipino history. It is great to leisurely stroll or cycle and enjoy them. Dona Aurora is most famous for the Angono murals, but one may encounter them in other streets as well.

Passed by here. If you want to go, you must find a parking place before walking inside the street. The street is pretty narrow but it was beautiful with each houses having beautiful carvings.

Nestled in a dense forest, Batlag Falls is a hidden gem near Manila that offers a serene and less crowded alternative to its popular sister falls, Daranak Falls. A 10-15 minute trek from Daranak leads to the majestic Batlag Falls, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a more off-the-beaten-path adventure. Families can enjoy bonding time here as the area is safe for kids and even features a swimming pool for added relaxation.
If you're looking for a hidden gem tucked away in nature, Batlag Falls is a must-visit destination. Its just 1.half hour from metro manila, located near the more popular Daranak Falls, Batlag offers a more secluded and serene experience. The crystal-clear waters cascade down moss-covered rocks into a refreshing pool, perfect for a swim. While Daranak attracts larger groups with its accessibility and spacious surroundings, Batlag offers a hidden escape just a short hike away. With fewer people and a more tranquil environment.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW: (02/26/2024) - Batlag Falls is inside the Daranak Falls compound. - The entrance fee is 175pesos. 75 for Daranak then another 100 to go inside Batlag (prices are per person). Yes, you still need to pay for Daranak even if you're not swimming there. - PRICE ENTRANCE UPDATE! (02/25/2025) 180pesos per person. Daranak had a price increase. - There are 3 falls inside Batlag. The main one which is just waist deep. Then the single drop waterfall (beside the main) which is maybe around 5-6ft. deep. Then the "secret lagoon" aka blue lagoon which needs a bit of trekking, not sure how deep. Just ask the life guard where it is located. We didn't go there anymore. - There are tables and sheds for rent. We paid 300pesos for our table. I noticed that the rent there is more expensive than the ones in Daranak. - The bathrooms in Batlag are not good. The ones in Daranak are more maintained. Even the sheds and tables are better in Daranak. - There are also small stores where you can buy biscuits, drinks, chips, ice, cooked food, etc. Just expect the tourist pricing. - You can also rent life vests, ring floaters, and lockers.

I love this waterfalls, it almost looks like Tumalog Falls of Cebu, smaller version tho. You will pay another 100pesos entrance fee if you want to access Batlag Falls. The Waterfalls is located on the other side of the slope beside Daranak Falls. The Falls and the area around Batlag feels like magical ☺️
Wandering M — Google review
If you don’t want to get annoyed, it’s best to come around 11 AM or 12 PM since the person who lets people into Batlag Falls usually arrives late. Also, the restroom here is not well-maintained and it's quite far if your cottage is located down below.
Missy P — Google review
Batlag Falls in Tanay has its tranquil ambiance and natural beauty. Many have praised the clear and refreshing waters, making it a great place to swim and cool off. Additionally, the lush green surroundings and the sound of cascading water create a peaceful atmosphere for relaxation and picnics. This is also accessible and affordable entrance fees, making it a popular choice for a day trip from Manila or a weekend getaway. A perfect destination as well during summer vacation with your friends and family. You can also rent a cottage or pinch a tent as long as you are responsible for your own garbage.
E-den M — Google review
This is considered one good short ride. From Metro Manila to Sampaloc Rizal it is just about 2 hours ride. The location of Batlag falls is on the further back of Daranak Falls (Daranak was closed that day) so we went to Batlag instead. A fair warning, the walk from the parking area going to the site is no faint of heart... Be ready for a cardio.

Hiking area
Mount Hapunang Banoi, located in Rodriguez, Rizal, is a popular hiking destination known for its stunning limestone formations and breathtaking views of Sierra Madre and Rizal province. Standing at 517 meters above sea level, it is adjacent to Mt. Pamitinan, offering hikers the option for a more challenging climb. The ascent involves a 90% assault with sharp rocks that require gloves for support.
One rocky hike. Challenging but doable for beginners. It features steep ascent and a totally worth it summit view. Guides are well informed and are very much willing to assist in any way. Cleanliness is also observed. No traces of trash along the trails.
Francis A — Google review
Truly worth an effort. Good trekking shoes and gloves (can be bought for 50 PHP near the tourist office) are highly recommended. It is required to hire a tour guide (500 PhP). One should allocate 4-5 hours for the round trip (up and down). No need to bring your own food - there is a place on the way one may buy food and beverage (water and soft drinks).
Anna K — Google review
90% Assault on your way up. Better bring gloves to take care of your palms and hands as you will need it closer to the summit to support yourself when climbing sharp rocks. Jump off is at Wawa Dam. This is my 2nd time hiking this mountain. Best to hike in December to February so it is neither rainy nor humid before summer. There is a junction where you can rest and buy food. Mountain doggos are present and they are very friendly to people, just make sure not to feed them anything toxic and not to litter in the mountain.
Daphney J — Google review

Together with Mt. Pamitinan, this is one of the "twin peaks". This also offers great vie of the Sierra Madre although it is a higher climb with more steep steps and rocky parts. There are also good spots for photography. The climb here is very fulfilling and can give you the thrill and excitement you are looking near the metro.

03 Jul 2022, as part of my trilogy climb. ongoing urbanization in the surrounding areas aside, i'm always happy to do this trek. Unless you're an experienced (or veteran) hiker, please make sure you are well-rested before you do this, use gloves and trail-rated footwear, and bring lots of water. There are stores at the junction, but they might not be open during weekdays. Outdoor Activities
Avilon Zoo, situated in Rodriguez, is a sprawling 7.5-hectare facility that boasts the largest collection of animals in the Philippines. With over 3,000 specimens representing more than 500 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, freshwater fish, amphibians, and invertebrates, it offers an impressive array of exotic wildlife. The zoo provides a family-friendly experience with designated numbered stations for visitors to explore without feeling overwhelmed by the vast space.
Very family friendly. Probably the best local zoo at the moment. Animals are in way better shape than of the others found in another popular zoo in the metro. Location is a bit far, nevertheless, the travel is worth it. Loads of trees in the area and enclosures are very good. You’ll also appreciate that they’ve put an effort to put in a guide where to go touring the whole area. Kids and adults will appreciate the chance to have close encounters with some animals through feeding them and so with their resident star orangutan, Regine. 🙂
Stephen D — Google review
We went for an ocular visit to inquire about the field trip and asked if they could accommodate a walk-in process. Unfortunately, the staff on duty were not accommodating. Instead of assisting or providing clear information, they seemed uninterested and unhelpful, which left a negative impression. As an establishment that deals with group visits and educational trips, we expected a more welcoming and informative approach. A bit more courtesy and professionalism in handling inquiries would go a long way in improving the experience for visitors.
Ronald T — Google review
About an hour's drive from Manila (it’s a holiday). It was my first time, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The Good: The staff was friendly, and they had a decent variety of animals, including lions and tigers. We enjoyed our visit as we didn't have any children with us. The Not-So-Good: The zoo is huge and confusing to navigate. The signage is poor, and some areas felt abandoned. The glass on many enclosures was dirty, making it hard to see the animals. The floors were also slippery, which is dangerous, especially for kids. And the food was overpriced. Overall: It was an okay experience, but the zoo needs better signage, cleaner enclosures, and more attention to safety. The variety of animals is a plus.
Jurius N — Google review
This zoo may have the most complete collection of animals in the country. You’re able to feed a few of them like the goats, rabbits, and Barry the giraffe. It’s kid-friendly as well as long as they’re not sensitive to animal smells. Plan to spend at least half a day here, even if you arrive at opening time. If you want to avoid crowds, go on a weekday. If you want to get in for cheaper, buy tickets online.
Gavriel C — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the best zoos I've ever visited! It's very easy to explore because they have a clear numbering system to guide you through the whole place. They also highlight key wildlife animals, and there's an option to feed some animals for only ₱100 — which adds a fun, interactive experience. Food is also accessible, which is great because we got hungry halfway through the tour, and it was easy to find the dining area. Just a tip: bring a portable fan and mosquito repellent to make your visit more comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
Mark H — Google review
Place is clean and filled with shade. I recommend to bring an umbrella as the area often have rainshowers. Most animals look healthy though some are alone and look quite sad to be honest. It takes approximately 3-4 hrs to explore the entire zoo. PWD and stroller friendly.
Dean — Google review
Went there near closing time so we weren’t able to see other animals. We enjoyed feeding Barry the giraffe though. Also saw moon bears and lots of animals. Sadly we did not see the capybaras 😔. Overall, great experience. Buy your tickets in advance for big discounts.

Nestled in Angono, Rizal, Balaw Balaw Restaurant and Art Gallery has a storied past dating back to the early 1980s. Founded by the esteemed artist and food connoisseur Perdigon Vocalan, this establishment has become a cultural icon in the region. It stands out for its dedication to celebrating Filipino heritage through an eclectic menu that includes traditional dishes as well as unique offerings such as balaw-balaw, a fermented shrimp paste.
Balaw-Balaw Restaurant and Art Gallery in Angono, Rizal, is a cultural gem that combines traditional Filipino dishes with exotic specialties and a showcase of local art. Known for its iconic minaluto, a paella-style dish served in a bilao, and adventurous offerings like adobo crickets, it caters to both curious and classic palates. The restaurant’s rustic ambiance, complete with higantes and an on-site art gallery, reflects Angono’s reputation as the Art Capital of the Philippines.

First visit experience: We chose a table near the garden. I checked the plate placed upside down, when i wiped it with my finger, it was covered with dust. Presence of fly are also there, but it is normal. We visited around 1PM, it is hot in the area, though there are fan all over the place. There is a menu for exotic foods. Worth a try. Also, a mini museum upstairs, you can go there while waiting for your order. We parked outside the restaurant, it seems like there are no permanent parking area designated for customers. Food is okay. Our taste palette are different from one another, so this is only my opinion. There is classic music playing in the background.

A Filipino restaurant that I have grown with. We started dining here when I was a kid, and more than 40 years after, this restaurant is still standing. This is one of the restaurants where you do not visit very often but always come to mind if you have family gatherings. Great Filipino food and wonderful dishes. They also have an area where they showcase and sell paintings of local artists, as well as a mini-museum where you can find great wood carvings, stuffed animals and a variety of paintings.

They serve good traditional filipino dishes and exotic dishes too like snails, coconut larva, kamaro, rabbit meat, horse meat, and several more. Better to call first and ask what is available because they only have limited serving for exotic dishes. They also have an art gallery that you can explore. There's only street parking available so better visit during off peak hours.

This place has not changed at all. It is the same as it looked when i first went here (1990's). We were the only diners when we arrived and also the only diners when we left. We ordered the Crispy Kangkong, Sinigang na Kanduli sa Miso, Ensaladang Talong sa Gata, Minaluto and Guinumis. Our order arrived in probably 30 to 40 Minutes. Not the Restaurant if you are in a hurry as they probably cook everything when ordered only. The Sinigang na Kanduli sa Miso was delicious, its sourness was spot on. The Minaluto had a little bit of everything, the Shrimps, Crab and Tahong were fresh. The Kangkong and Adobo were also good. The Ensaladang Talong was also delicious. Servings were okay for the price. It was a Good Lunch and the Servers were friendly and Efficient.

We didn't get a chance to try their exotic food as most of them are not available. We arrived there at around 5:30pm so I suggest that you go here as early as possible where their stock is available or you can call and inform them ahead of time. Besides the exotic food, their local food is very delicious and is a great match for having a drink. Price is great. Parking here is difficult as it is a street parking but it is worth the hassle to try and taste their local and exotic dishes.

The Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs Site, discovered in 1965, is a rock shelter featuring 127 human and animal figures carved into the wall. Believed to be the oldest known artworks in the Philippines, dating back to the late Neolithic period or before 2000 BC, it was declared a National Cultural Treasure in 1973.
Within the Eastridge Hills community. If the guards aren’t sure if it’s open, just say you’re going to Thunderbirds Casino or one of the cafes within the community. It is quite a hike up to the location and we took a Grab. At the entry there is a guard. You will walk through a tunnel and then a path will lead you to the petroglyphs. Sign in at the visitor’s center and climb the steps to see the petroglyphs. I rated 5 stars because it is amazing to see history and to know that there have been people existing for millennia. The site is not accessible as there are only steps up to the site.
Roya M — Google review
If you would like to see the Petroglyphs, make sure the brakes of your ride is in good condition because the route going here has very steep and sharp curved roads. Entrance is free and it would have been great if they also sell souvenirs because there are some souvenir items inside the registration area that was not for sale. It is displeasing to see vandalism markings on some part of the cave, I hope they can preserve these cave markings so that future generations could see it too.

Oldest known art in the Philippines, dating back to around 3000–2000 BC (Late Neolithic). A collection of 127 carved figures humans, frogs, and lizards etched into a volcanic rock shelter 25 m wide and 3 m high. - When we get there–there's no entrance fee, nag register lang kami and nag iwan ng 1 valid ID. If one group kayo pupunta you're only required to submit one ID for the whole group. - There's no fee rin kapag sa Thunderbird ka pumasok, hihingan ka lang nila picture before exiting for proof na you visited Petroglyphs. You must visit this place, nakakatuwang may mga preserved art tayo came from our own history. It embodies the Filipino culture within us.
Cappuccino — Google review
The short tunnel and brief walk before reaching the museum was actually a fun little adventure and added to the experience. However, once inside, the museum felt a bit underwhelming. While the petroglyphs themselves are fascinating and worth preserving, the facilities could really use more interactive exhibits rather than relying mostly on printed information about the discovery. A small café or resting area would also encourage visitors to stay longer, instead of it feeling a bit anti-climactic after taking photos and then heading straight back. We also had an uncomfortable moment when the security guard casually started asking my best friend personal questions about her life and relationship status. While there were no direct advances, it came off as inappropriate and unprofessional. It made the visit less enjoyable than it could have been. Overall, worth a quick visit for the historical significance, but improvements in visitor experience and staff professionalism would go a long way.
Jane G — Google review
If you’re into historical stuff, the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs is a cool place to check out. The ancient carvings are pretty impressive, especially knowing how old they are. But honestly, don’t expect too much, it’s not the kind of place where you can hang out all day. There’s not much else to see or do once you’ve looked at the petroglyphs. It can also get a bit crowded when there’s a school tour since the area isn’t that big. Still, it’s worth a quick visit if you’re nearby. And the best part? It’s free.
Mark S — Google review
Awe-inspiring site! This is a must-see for every Filipino. Imagine, artwork crafted by our forefathers, over 5,000 years ago! The place is well-kept, thanks to the National Museum. Sadly, there was vandalism, some people don't have the capacity to appreciate art as invaluable as this. Entrance is free and so is parking. Also, glad that it wasn't commercialized (no food kiosks or tacky souvenir shops). You get to appreciate the art amidst the calm and quiet of nature. Absolutely stunning!

The experience was not at all what I expected. It was a bit disappointing. I had clarified everything prior to booking and going but was still met with more charges at the site. The trail was 60% pavement 30% random undeveloped village roads (yes mostly inhabited). There wasn't a time when I felt i was in the forest albeit being called a forest trail. The pictures on the website projects a different feel. It also advertises being a 3 hour ride but we were able to finish it in 2.5hrs even with two kids on our backs. Most of the time spent on the last part. You get to the end of the "trail" where you have to pay a very cheap fee to enter a restaurant/campsite with a view of the mountains and Wawa Dam. This was optional by the way so if you did not avail of this it was only those random village "trails". The view is actually nice although I did not need an ATV to get there. I gave it a 3/5 because the kuya trail guides were accommodating and nice. The experience wasn't particularly bad just underwhelming, although good for first timers to get a feel of riding an ATV.

we had fun experience tho there some points needed to be improved. First, we highly suggest that there is available hairnet in courtesy of the next customer. Ensure the cleanliness of each helmet specifically the smell. Tour guides were fine. They guided us and even offered to take a video and photo. In the frontdesk, it is suggested that there is an option listed kung gusto ng mountain view or snacks bring money kasi may entrance fee :)

Took the river trail, will pass through mountain and villages and eventually the river as the final destination. Can rent a cottage to have picnic and swim in the river. Place is cooling because of the trees. The place is clean and very relaxing. Would be better if the guides were very enthusiastic in explaining the tour and taking pictures of the guests.

Another adventure for me and my love one! At the ATV adventures Rizal...vroooomm vroooomm vroooomm. We've taken the long trail listed in their package tour. And we're very fortunate that day because we're the only one who booked for that trip. Hooray! So, our trip covers ATV ride, the waterfall hike ans the river trail. Let me break it down the details of our trip. 1. ATV ride - it's a nice and bumpy road and I personally enjoyed it. As this is the longest trip I've ever had in my whole life in an ATV because usually I'm just in normal track. Plus the fact, you'll be able to see exhilarating view of the Sierra Madre. 2. River trail - this one could be a littlr bit of 50/50 for me. Because it's freaking hot 🥵. If you ever got a chance to look at my uploaded photos, go ahead and check out my partner's photo and you'll see what she did with her face haha. She's so hilarious 🤣. But as you reach the end, viola the stillness of the water in between the mountains, reminds me of my El Nido trip in Palawan. Almost similar image that I had when went off for the island hopping. 3. Waterfall hike - a refreshing way to get rid of the mud and dust from all over your body. As you soak yourself from a freezing water fall. I really had fun and to my excitement, i almost forgot that my pouch is still attached to my waist. Thank havens, that my phone is with our guide. Else, I won't be able to share some of the photos. So don't be like me, ehem... For me, all in all I really love our journey. Though there have been some hiccups with our booking due to some environmentalists issue, our amiable tour guide Anjo made it more memorable and special. Hence, we're thinking of possibly getting the overnight or the 360 trail next time. And of course booking hopefully the same tour guide if possible.

Our first ATV experience. It was awesome! Super thank you sa mga nag guide sa amin during the ATV route and also ung sa trekking to the waterfall. Galing din ng pagkuha ng videos ng guides habang nakasakay kami sa ATV(since you really can't hold your phone while driving it). Definitely recommending this to anyone else looking for an ATV experience. You can check out their promos on their website, they respond well and are on point for your queries.

Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Diocese of Antipolo is a stunning church known for its beautiful architecture and tranquil atmosphere. Situated on the mountainside, it offers a serene retreat for spiritual contemplation amidst an urban forest, providing cool air and a peaceful setting. The church's polyhedral shape and open-air design with large fans on the ceiling create a comfortable environment.
The open concept of the church creates a sense of spaciousness and mingle with the surrounding nature. White color also feels light to the eyes with glasses that really oozes of modernism

It's located in Antipolo City, it's a few minutes walk if you are jogging / walking or few mins drive from the popular nature resort , Hinulugan Taktak Falls.

Attended a beautiful wedding at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Antipolo on a weekday. The church's modern architecture and serene atmosphere created a perfect setting for the ceremony. Street parking was available, and the whole experience was lovely. This stunning church gained popularity after being featured in the hit movie 'A Second Chance' starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, where the lead characters' wedding scene was filmed here. The unique design, inspired by the story of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the events at Fatima, fosters a sense of solemnity and peace. Recommended for couples looking for a unique and peaceful venue.
Bern D — Google review
The church has an alfresco setup, allowing fresh air to flow through, so it doesn’t feel too hot during ceremonies. However, since it’s an open church located along the highway, noise from passing vehicles can be heard at times. Still, the place is spacious and can accommodate a large number of guests, making it a great venue for big events.
Mia N — Google review
A beautiful parish covered in foliage, located near Hinulugang Taktak waterfalls. The church is surrounded by nature and trees. The complex has a large stations of the cross where you can relax and walk around. The church doesn't have the most traditional architecture. The wall are made of glass. Doing this makes the people who are inside really focus on the nature and foliage outside the church. This is an amazing church to pray/have mass if you love nature.
Ramcel C — Google review
Beautiful church that is perfect for weddings. Reminds me of a greenhouse with the open styled building and glass ceilings. Outside, the church has multiple food and beverage stores that u can enjoy after attending a mass or wedding. Parking lot is roadside and is advisable to arrive early if ur attending an event so u can park near the church.
Gamz R — Google review
A very quiet place. The church is newly built in a hilly location. Nice circular design with lots of glass used in order to allow natural light inside the church. Right next to a well paved quite road for a worry free commute to and from the church. There is some natural virgin foliage right next to the church which adds to the cool atmosphere within the church. Its located outside the antipolo city center so traffic is not much of a problem.

A bit difficult to climb for a newbie, but a good place to unwind after a week of stress at work.
Jeric B — Google review
I climbed the summit and the mountain almost had me. I've done distant running so I thought that 4km would just be a breeze. I was wrong. The terrain is a steep uphill. The scorching heat of the sun also burned me up as we started climbing at 2pm. A couple of tips - bring water: enough to hydrate and cool you down during the climb but not too much and too heavy to wear you down. Build stamina and strength if it is youe first time to climb.
Ferdie C — Google review
A good hike for someone not that experienced in hiking. There would be sharp rocks that you have to pass through to get to the summit, best to wear gloves if you want.
Jesse N — Google review
Breath taking view at the top will make your hike worth! I've got bruises because of the rocks ( i forgot to bring gloves, btw) but it never stopped me from hiking Pamitinan. Only an hour away from Manila, this mountian is one of the most visited hiking spots in Rizal. The lovely view of Rodriguez will be seen on top. This mountain is recommended for beginners.

DON'T GO ON A SUNDAY!!! if you want to relax, don't go on a Sunday. From my pics, do you see how many people there were? There were so many distractions from how beautiful the falls could be It was loud from karaoke blaring out off-key singers. I saw some girl near the headwater puke relentlessly while people downstream dunked their heads in the water. There were no bathrooms at the falls. You make your own conclusions here. With all the stores and other structures at the falls, it really doesn't lend itself for relaxation. That's too bad because this place is gorgeous.

Hiking area
Mount Parawagan, located in Rodriguez, Rizal, offers a challenging yet scenic mountain trail experience. Situated at the western side of Sitio Wawa, the trail provides stunning views of narrow streams, mixed forests, the Sierra Madre Mountains, and lush greenery. It is a popular spot for hiking and biking enthusiasts. The 480-meter elevation above sea level presents a demanding cycling destination with steep gradients and rugged soil roads.
Great place to hike and bike for beginners. No need to hire a local tourist guide, you can just hike on your own and follow the path. There's also a lot of store to pass by if you need something. And easy access with transportation if you are commuting. Just make sure when you go it's not raining, as it was a bit muddy up there.
Sej T — Google review
not your average uphill. it is very challenging but worth it. I think the steep is about 18-25% I think and we climbed it till the summit for 1hr and its really long, not beginner friendly. The off-road part has been improved than before. And also on the way there is construction ongoing in the road but its ok to pass through.
Nash T — Google review
A very accessible mountain even for beginners. There are lots of stores, parking spots, eateries and campsites along the trail. This place appears to be a practice place for trail runners and mountain bikers alike, but casual hikers will enjoy the hike here as well.
Kris P — Google review
Perfect spot for hiking and biking. As for me, I had the place for my weekend offroad/trail ride (riding my XR150L dual sports bike). The trail is relatively easy and a perfect choice even for novice dirtbikers and trailriders (such as I). The spot also offers and scenic view of Metro Manila from afar. The only thing I find that's "lacking" is that the trail is too short. Nevertheless, I'd definitely would visit again.

Club Manila East is a popular resort known for its spacious and uncrowded environment. The accommodations are well-maintained, and guests can enjoy a satisfying breakfast buffet. Visitors also appreciate the complimentary kayak included in the entrance fee. While some facilities like the CR and shower rooms may need maintenance, many guests love the cool pools, particularly the wave pool. Overall, it's described as a clean and enjoyable destination that offers a memorable experience for visitors.
Really one of our favorite resorts. The place is not crowded. The rooms are clean and the breakfast buffet is good. The entrance fee comes with a free kayak that you can try as much as you want.

Their pools are very dirty. Their slide will make you want to walk instead. No designated smoking area. The place isn't really fun. The catering service isn't good. When 8pm strikes-the night is young and dead. Don't be fooled with the name. The place is so bad.

Stayed here for a night. My room is so outdated. Aircon can't sustain the temperature. Paying 3300 per night is awfully high compared to what they could offer. Breakfast is placed in plastic containers (come on!). They don't have hot chocolate. Instead, they'll give you Milo. The TV is CRT type(Old fat type). I think it's too old to be pricey.

Went for my first ever trek here and it was an experience! Water from the river is very clean. My outlook in life changed, the rocky pathways is like life, you thought its hard, whilst it is, and you think you cannot pass through it, you'll be suprised you can and the view (reward) is always refreshing and everything will be alright. Hope to come back soon again here for the community with RAK Ph Mountaineers 🏞💚

Went riding on my tail bike with a buddy and we had to go through several river crossings and muddy areas. This place is a real gem, small, secluded and had very cool mountain water. Bring your own food because there are no restaurants. One thing for sure, regular cars need not apply. You will need at least a vehicle that can do a little off roading so 4x4's, MTBs, and motorcycles.

Timberland Mountain Bike Park in San Mateo, Rizal has become a renowned destination for mountain biking enthusiasts and sports aficionados. The park's bike trail has attracted local tourists, celebrities, and biking groups who visit for recreational rides and competitions. It is a popular venue for Mountain Bike Races, drawing participants from various biking organizations.
One of the nearest bike trails near Manila, easy to each and has scenic view of the metro. Well maintained trails that caters to all types of mtb bikers to beginners, intermediate and advance. Or just want a bit of thrilling ride and the good thing is you feel safe due to the presence of trail staff, medical staff and has a friendly evinronment... well food is quite expensive (hoping for more food shops/options) and trail fee is quite pricey however its worth the ride specially you get to ride it all day. Overall a great experience... Keep it up...

This place is a mountain bikers dream! The trails are maintained by Timberland Highlands Resort…yes, a mountain bike resort! You can park at the resort if you live locally, and if you are out of town, you can stay at the resort. They offer rentals, either a hardball and full suspension bike, no e-bikes. You need to pay the entrance fee at the resort and they will give you a wristband that will grant you entrance to the park. Once inside the park, you will find a matrix of well maintained, machine cuts trails, with stunning views of the Manila metro area below. You start at the "Lauch Pad" where you have choice a choice of green, blue, and black trails. All the trails eventually end at the "Brexit" where you take the "Bill and Ted" back up to the top. Warning, all of the trails, even the green trails are steep, so I would not recommend these trails to a novice rider. Intermediate and advanced riders will love them!

The best mountain bike park near Metro Manila. Very nice well maintained trail system. There are medical and emergency workers from 7am til 4pm. Food, hydration might be pricy but given the location it is what it is. There's wifi via satellite on the launch pad area. There's ample parking and a reasonable hotel if you want to stay for a few days which also gives you access to the pool.

The place itself is nice, but the issue is that many of the perks advertised for their private resort weren’t available, like the telescope and the floaters for rent. The bathrooms were also problematic—none of them could be locked properly. It’s really disappointing because we were looking forward to enjoying the place, but we ended up leaving early due to how let down we felt. I wish they would update their Facebook page to reflect what’s actually available at the resort. The pool and the overall cleanliness were fine, but the door locks were a huge issue. It was so anxiety-inducing, especially when you’re in the bathroom, worried that someone might walk in.
