Animals were really cool, you can get quite close up to most animals, though there was NO information in English or Dutch or any other language. So if you can't speak German and want to read up, don't go. It was quite clean everywhere, loads of space to walk, no crowdedness at all (we went early).

The zoo is nice, the animals are well cared for and look happy. They have quite spacious enclosures, and there are many renovation works going on, so it will become even better.

This zoo is absolutely worth the visit, beautiful animals with nice habitats. We have come all the way from the south of Germany to visit this zoo and it didn’t disappoint us.

A large and beautiful zoo with both expected and surprising animals. Very family-friendly and great for kids – you can rent pull-along wagons, which are super handy. Clean restrooms and affordable parking (€5 per day). Also, a good place to visit when the weather isn’t perfect, thanks to several covered areas. Dogs are welcome, too, which is a big plus for us. Tip: book your tickets online in advance – entry is usually faster and often cheaper. Highly recommended!

We had a brilliant day visiting here! The zoo is clean and tidy. The animals are well looked after and cared for. The staff are super friendly. There's lots of things to see and do. Lots of amazing playparks scattered around the park. We were able to feed the elephants - free of charge! And also the little parakeets. They have a few walk in enclosures, goats and lemurs. The whole day was fantastic! I would highly recommend visiting here! Children of all ages and adults would have a great time!

I really liked this zoo. The parking lot is very big so there's enough space to park your car. Another benefit are the parking- and entrance fee which aren't very high. The zoo is quiet big and offers hours of fun! They are building something near the entrance which will be done in 2022. I'm very curious and will definitely visit the zoo once this is done. There are various species of animals in this zoo and especially quiet a few different species of big cats. I love big cats which makes this zoo amazing! Most animals do have a good amount of space, but not all of them. For example the lions. Their habitat isn't the size it should be. And I think that some animals habitats are a bit doll. This zoo is also great if you have children. There are a lot of playgrounds where your children can play. There are also enough toilets throughout the whole zoo and a lot of different points where you can buy some food. I had a great time in this zoo and that is why I would recommend it to others.

In my opinion, the zoo feels a bit cramped for the animals. About 50% of them seem to use the same small paths repeatedly, which doesn’t make them appear happy. Some animals, like the meerkats, seem to have enough space and look content, but others do not. For example, the indoor area for the giraffes is quite small. We stopped by the restaurant for a hot chocolate to go. The price for a “large” hot chocolate was listed as €3.90, but it ended up being €4.20 without any prior notice. On top of that, we paid an additional €1 for the Pfand (a refundable deposit). Overall, I think it’s an okay zoo, but I feel bad for the animals. For instance, the African wild dogs have worn down a single path in their enclosure from walking the same route repeatedly. That said, the zoo’s size and animations are decent.

Art Museum Pablo Picasso has a large collection of Picasso prints, more than any other museum. Beautiful building, friendly staff. If you don’t speak German, I recommend taking advantage of the free audio guide since none of the didactics are translated in English (my reason for rating this fine museum with 4 stars and not 5). We visited Münster on over the New Year’s holiday, so the coffee shop was closed, too bad.

My expectations weren't right. I though Pablo Picasso was a painter. This however was mostly a picture-museum. They reflected experiences of wartime. Also, there were paintings. Mostly, the pictures were also accompanied with a tour. I enjoyed my stay in this museum.

Mostly a photo album of Picasso, his family, and friends—images you can easily find online. Very few artworks. All texts are in German, and the audio guide is overly focused on biography. Not engaging.

Very nice prints & photos of Picasso and Matisse’s life, other artists are also showcased. They have an audio tour they give you a device for that can be played in English, and it takes you through the photos and art displayed. Very informative and whimsical! They also had a nice gift shop and it looks like it’s connected to a nice shopping mall as well. The cafe looked very cute and looked like it had good selection.

Amazing. Had multiple picasso art pie es and various other art as well as old states and carvings. The restaurant attached was awesome as well with a very sweet waitress.

A very beautiful place, clean and tidy, full of history, with a beautiful story, but which lacks a lot. As in most cases, in Germany you cannot pay by card. There is no indication, presentation in English. There is no guide or dedicated person to guide you in any direction. The indoor halls close without you knowing, because of some events that no one knows about.

Real pretty water castle where the writer Droste Hülshoff grew up. It has a cute trail around it and the gardens are very pretty and it's not crowded. They also have a cafe and museum.

I didn't have any expectations before visiting this place and i was pleasantly surprised ! Very cozy, very beautiful, very relaxing atmosphere. We went there for a couple of hours and eventually spent the whole day. The only downside - unless you have a car its hard to reach, the public transport is not very convinient in that location

I can recommend this beautiful castle and it's gardens. Beautiful, well kept, grounds and a characteristic moat. A cafe and restaurant is also located here. A teahouse is located at the back, through the woods. Very relaxing to lounge in the sun in the garden chairs and listen to the forest sounds.

Wonderful experience. I visited on a cloudy day, and it was still beautiful. You can go around its gardens for free and visit the museum inside the main building (which I let for another day). The gardens are well cared for, and the paths are easy even in a rainy/wet setting. The gardens and the exterior of the palace are relatively accessible, but there are stairs to enter the museum and the restaurant. I haven't seen an accessible entrance for either, so it might be useful to call in advance and ask about it.

A modest museum with beautiful gardens, which are spoilt by noisy audio-visual nonsense created by talentless individuals, who have regrettably been invited by the curators to install their pieces of mind-numbing political activism. This frankly looks ridiculous in the home of Droste, whose well of creativity sprung from a fierce intellect. The work of lazy art from less than talented individuals looks shabby next to hers. Not sure what the "When we are gone, the trees will run riot" sign is meant to add to the experience.

The most prominent Catholic church in Münster with an elegant Gothic architecture. It is located in the historic landmark 'Prinzipalmarkt'. No entrance fee.

It’s a very nice church. You must definitely seen it. The colours are beautiful. The new glass door is looking great. I’m very happy that I have seen it.

Another interesting cathedral in this amazing old town of Münster. There are several old churches/cathedrals in this town and each of them have their own unique design and architecture and if you have time, it is worthwhile to go inside to have a look, take pictures, videos etc. On another note, if you are looking to go up the top of cathedrals to take aerial photos of the city, it is not possible to do so in Münster. In fact, many cathedrals are not possible to climb up and take photos.

I was slightly amused and intrigued by the glowing ladder and colorful sliding doors. In general, the church is worth seeing. It looks majestic at the end of Prinzipalmarkt.

St. Lamberti is not your average church it’s got a dark Gothic vibe and three iron cages hanging on the tower. Looks epic, feels mysterious. History and drama all in one place. Don't miss it!

"Orgelpunkt" (organ recital). Thursdays at 5 pm (30 minutes). Need to hear and see. Fantastic! It's for free however, donation is appreciated.

The museum and the planetarium could be really good and fun. But at the moment the exhibition is reduced due to some works inside but the price of the ticket is remained the same, which I don't find that right. I'm not a thin skinned person but I have to say that the people working at the entrance are really really rude. Shouting two times to a 5 years old for no real reason it's not acceptable.

The LWL Museum isn't particularly large, but it’s definitely interesting and worth a visit from a cultural and historical point of view — so far, so good. However, I have to say I was honestly quite shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff were. Not only were they unfriendly, but their behavior bordered on aggressive at times. There seemed to be a complete lack of coordination and basic service mindset. It really put a damper on the experience, which is a shame, because the museum itself has potential. That said, we did have a positive encounter with the man who sold us our tickets — he was Swedish and exceptionally friendly and helpful, which stood in stark contrast to the rest of the staff.

After the Planetarium, you can walk through the Museum which is really cool and has some interactive activities you can play with for example: there was a sand thing that you could make mountains or seas, there was also a frame with the photo of the animal and a button and when you touched the button the noise played.

There is a locker where you can put your jacket, bag and other belongings free of charge. The museum has a very modern and aesthetic design. Prices are discounted for students.

Very interesting museum with different exhibitions. It is great for both adults and children. Everything is only in German, unfortunately. But in the shop you can get an audio tour (€2) in English and Dutch. This will however not cover all the exhibitions (not the dinosaur section and the national history section where the impressive skeletons are shown of several animals). Despite the lack of signs in English, I enjoyed being here. There's braille, by the way. There's a small restaurant where you can get pasta, pancakes, baked potato and cake. Parking costs €4.

Thought this museum was of a good quality with the a real focus on engagement and definitely aimed at younger people and children. There are some interesting displays and lots of things to touch and interact with. Was filled with families and individuals alike so well worth a trip. Loads of parking and a decent cafe too.

When you're in the city, you easily spot the historical city hall, where you can visit the peace hall, for just 2€. Inside you can listen to the history of this room, and have a close look at the wooden panels.

The Mühlenhof open-air museum in Münster covers five hectares in the Sentrup district in the immediate vicinity of Aasee, the all-weather zoo and the LWL-Museum für Naturkunde, displaying the rural and artisan culture of the region for four centuries. Around 30 historic buildings were either moved from their original location to the Münster museum in Westphalia or rebuilt there based on old models. The interior furniture with historical collection gives an impression of the way of life and working methods of the people who were once at home here. Excellent place to enjoy with your family.

The museum of houses are well maintained. One can understand the functions of each houses in the description slides provided in the front.

It was a perfect place to revisit ancient history. We visited on Saturday, and the entry was free. There are no tickets for Saturday.

A must-see if you're in Münster! This cathedral has serious character a mix of Romanesque strength and Gothic charm. And don’t miss the astronomical clock inside it moves counterclockwise! Super unique and oddly mesmerizing. Great atmosphere, beautiful square outside, and full of history. Even if you're not into churches, this one is worth the stop.

One of the biggest church in Germany, survived the bombing from the allied forces in WWII, a historical building that las for more than 600 years. This is the place that I finally had a service, to confess my sin with one of the pastor there after more than 1 decade. This church will be forever in my heart ❤️

I was inside. The church is nice but the astronomical watch is awesome! When I read about it more I had to come back and take a look at it once more. It is a piece of art. Just wait until a full hour or any quarter of an hour.

If you are staying or travelling near this city, it is very worthwhile to make a visit and go through the old town and make your way to this old and impressive cathedral. It has a rich style of architecture and classic interior with interesting decorations. Normally it is free to enter into any cathedral, especially one that is old and is located in the old town (or old city - Altstadt). Each cathedral has its own amazing piece of history so if you have time, it is worth checking out.

Very Exceptional market, great place to eat and buy all kinds of food and plants.

Drove in for 9am to beat some of the crowds. Had to wait 5mins for a parking space right next to the market but more parking is available a short distance away. Well worth a visit, so much fresh food - fish, meats, bread and pastries as well as plants (both cut flowers and growing ones!) It got a lot busier after 10am so arrive early if you can. The rest of Munster was also great to have a stroll around

It's quite expensive. Produce is fresh depending on which vendor you go to. They start early in the morning and wrap up mostly by 12:00/13:00 hrs. They mostly only accept cash.

The biweekly farmers market of Münster is the perfect opportunity to get fresh and often local produce to prices, if you chose the right place to buy, that put supermarkets to shame. There is a wide variety of everything from the simple to the exotic. Add to that the many foodstalls that carter to almost any taste and you have a perfect example of what a market should be.

Best fresh produce, meats, hams, sausages, cheeses, breads, seafood, Asian spices, flowers, herbs, delicacies, fruits, juices and a galore of others anywhere!! 👏👏👏👌 Of course you can buy a little cheaper at supermarket or discounters, however the variety, freshness and friendliness of merchants makes it worth to become a regular visitor. Relaxing place, you may take your pets. Nice place for learning gardening and about plants.

It’s a must have seen botanical garden. Very tidy. They have worked a lot on it. There are many and many and many plants. If you want to visit it properly to see everything and learn and read, then maybe you need three hours. If you just want to pass by you half an hour. If you want to make a photo shoot inside, then you definitely need two hours. If you are passing by, it is definitely worth stopping by, the garden is beautiful. We were especially enchanted by the greenhouses, but the outside garden also has a lot to offer. At the time of our visit, the Chinese garden was under reconstruction, but we still enjoyed our visit. Delightful to the eyes, a very pleasant place to visit in town. There are many greenhouses full of stunning life and aromas. It seems a lot of people do hard work to keep that place the way it is, so be respectful when you visit. I'll definitely come back!

After walking round the city for a few hours, it was a real treat to go into the Botanical Gardens, situated in the grounds of the Schloss, close to the city centre. Entry is free, and it’s a very pleasant way to escape for an hour or two. Loads of beautiful plants and flowers, all well labelled (very helpful) outside and in greenhouses. Came away with plenty of photos and inspiration for our own garden.

The museum has a long history but this new building was opened in 2014 and incorporates some details of old buildings. It has a nice mix of modern and older mostly religious art. There are some beautiful carved religious objects

This is an extraordinary museum - a must see! The architecture of the building itself is something you might see in a capital city; the collection curation like theatre; and the objects are both local and beautiful. All explained in German and English as standard.

It's quite big, so it's best to have two hours to visit, as you might get lost if you're not paying attention. There are not only paintings but also sculptures, and sometimes there are exhibitions on different themes

Fantastic museum and worth the entry price of €9. The front desk staff were welcoming and the female staff in the museum rooms were exceptionally helpful and approachable with one exception, an older man who was both rude and verbally aggressive but don’t let him stop you from going. The collections are well documented and translated into three languages, English been one of them. It is a big museum but your entry ticket means you can come and go throughout the day. Backpacks are not allowed and can be put into lockers and cost €1 that you get back. The toilets are clean and there are seats in every room so when tired you can rest and take in the items on view in your own time. There are ramps and lifts and plenty of room to navigate if you are in a wheelchair however, not many of the works on view are at wheelchair eye view. Photographs are allowed as long as you don’t use a flash. The gift shop is expensive which is a shame as I would have loved to buy small gifts to give to people at home and the postcards didn’t seem to reflect what was in the museum unless I missed a whole section. In a nutshell - this is a must see museum with the added bonus that your ticket last for the whole day so you can come and go as you please.

Large museum that you can spend hours at. The exhibitions change every few months and the current exhibition of 'nudes' was really interesting! Also every second Friday of every month is free entry after 6pm until midnight.

very interesting history museum that includes the whole history of the city. there are limited translations for most exhibits, but they will have the gist of it translated into Dutch, English, French and Polish. it's free too, which is a huge plus. it's definitely worth a visit, even if it's not your thing you can check it out. especially for the cool dioramas (some shown below).

The Münster City Museum is worth a visit for at least a few reasons. Mainly because of the fact that it's the best way to learn about the history of the city and the whole Westphalia. The rooms and the tour route have been planned chronologically. Moreover, the Museum is very modern. Audioguides are available in almost all rooms. In some, there're also special reconstructions (e.g. a colonial shop or a post-war cafe). That can be interesting not only for adult visitors, but for children as well. In addition, the sightseeing is totally free. Thanks to this, without any costs, we're able to spend a free 2-3 hours in the city quite fruitfully.

Free art and also a collection that shows you the (political) history of the city. For example I have seen majors and also other prominent figures. This is also about how the city developped regarding buildings and stuff. For me this was a very nice experience.

I would recommend to put more English translations for tourists

Excellent stop for a short cycling ride in the outskirts of Münster. One can bring a picnic blanket and some snacks to have a good meal in the garden of the House. There is a little museum and a toilette. It was the late house of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, a famous German poet.

This is a wonderful place, just for the situation in this moment is close. But you still can walk arround and enjoy the natur and the beautiful Garten

I've only ever walked around outside, but it sure is beautiful. The adjoining woods and tree park make this a great place to walk a dog.

A cute small house with wonderful garden. You must reach it by bike if you want to see how the design matches with the environment. Take some time for the museum. The house was under reparation so was not possible to enter.

Incredible experience walking around and exploring the exterior of the castle and taking in the marvelous gardens. We didn't go inside so I cannot comment on that but it was a delight walking the grounds and just taking it all in.

Beautiful castle with a lovely little botanical garden behind it. Sadly, it was difficult to get a good view of the castle because of several party tents and a construction lot in front of it - seems like a waste of the area's potential when there was a huge empty parking lot next to it they could have used instead..

The place is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. The botanical garden behide the castle is among the loveliest botanical garden in the world ! (I've visited many botanical gardens around the world by the way).

Schloss Münster is now home to the local University. For this reason, there are not many objects to visit there (to find out something about its history, you need to go to the 'Stadtmuseum'). Nevertheless, the building itself as well as the surroundings are very nice. The Promenade, for example, is one of the most popular walking areas in Münster. It's definitely worth spending some time there during the weekend.

Very nice reconstructed palace. It's closed the weekend. It's a nice way to start or to finish the city visit if you park on the close by parking. I recommend to visit at the same time the botanical garden.

This is a great Museum, they show a Japanese art style which was mostly in the 1800s. It is still done today but the quantity is less. For 3 euros this is a good see. Plan 45 Minutes to an hour.

The music is okay although the sound is horrible. In the summer its very hot in here. Hm... to be honest. Its almost always hot there cause most of the time its filled. The tapbeer is horrible but shots and the bottled stuff is good. Good to watch football or sometimes listen to live acousticmusic.

The museum is indeed a small one, as mentioned. When we entered, our expectation was to see findings related to the archaeology of the Münster region.
