Villa Manzoni is a neoclassical building situated in the Caleotto district of downtown Lecco. It serves as a literary museum dedicated to the renowned Italian writer, poet, and playwright Alessandro Manzoni. Once the summer residence of the Manzoni family, it now houses original furnishings and exhibits that trace his life and works. Visitors can explore different rooms that provide insights into his biography and career.
We decided to visit this villa because it was raining, however we were pleasantly surprised. The author’s biography is fully explained across different rooms so you can get a better sense of his character, life and career. We also loved the cinema part at the end of the museum - it was a very different, kind of unique experience to see a film adaptation from 1941!
Plamena C — Google review
We got in with the Fai Associate discount, they have a nice archive of adaptations for the “Betrothed” and a mini cinema with vintage chairs but honestly it felt a bit empty.

Great museum for kids. The mammoth at the entrance will leave any kids amazed. Nicely presented but it needs a bit of upkeeping and modernization.

Castle
Castello dell'Innominato is a 14th-century hilltop castle located in Vercurago, offering sweeping views of the town and the lake. It was once the residence of Innominato from The Betrothed. Accessible by train or bus from Lecco, followed by a short hike, this destination provides panoramic views. While it's a steep climb and not suitable for those with health issues, visitors can still enjoy picnics within the remaining walls of the castle.
Great place if you want to go and do some exercise and enjoy the astonishing views. It is the perfect plan for a Sunday afternoon. There’s free parking around the church, and from there you can make your way up. If you’re feeling hungry, I’ll suggest to try La Trattoria La Rocca, you won’t be disappointed.
Manuel G — Google review
Amazing climb! At very high place... so if you fear heights... its still the place to go! 200m climb by stairs. We came here from Lecco by walk. 12km trip which ended to train station. (If ya come here by feey you should use train. Only 1,8e ticket.)
Teemu L — Google review
Beautiful place, majestic view. It's a long and tiresome climb, but it's rewarding. Of course, a wheelchair can't climb up the mountain, but that's normal if you consider the age of the stairs.

The Monument of Manzoni is a bronze sculpture located in Lecco's square of the same name, dedicated to the renowned Milanese writer Alessandro Manzoni. The statue stands over 3 meters tall and commemorates the author of "The Betrothed," a masterpiece of Italian literature. While slightly worn, it remains a realistic and significant memorial to the great writer.
Lovely statue. He was a talented novelist.

Very realistic memorial of Manzoni. Alessandro Manzoni is the greatest Italian writer of all time, he wrote " I promessi sposi". The statue is over 3 meters tall and is a little worn, but not too much. If you're passing by, I raccomand you take a look.

In the charming town of Lecco, Italy, visitors can explore the medieval Torre Viscontea (Visconti Tower) located in Piazza XX Settembre. This tower is all that remains of a 14th-century castle commissioned by Azzone Visconti. Although now in ruins, it is a well-preserved ancient structure and part of the Civic Museum of Lecco.

(Translated by Google) Of fourteenth-century origin, the tower is probably the oldest building in Lecco. The highest part of the tower was built during the fifteenth century. The tower is all that remains of the triangular-shaped city walls, an integral part of the military fortress. The castle was part of the latter, located in a central position and close to the lake, which was the main entrance gate to the village open towards Milan. It was demolished by Joseph II between 1782 and 1784. On its left side there was a guardhouse, from which one could access the staircase that led to the bastion of the pier, where the sentry box was located, while on the right there was a large warehouse as well as a courtyard for the soldiers. After the restoration of 1816, by the Lecco architect Giuseppe Bovara, the tower was used as a prison (a use recovered from the time of the Spanish domination of the Duchy of Milan) and, starting in 1932, after a further restoration, it was entrusted by the State to the Municipality of Lecco which initially established the Museum of the Risorgimento and Resistance of the city, to later convert it into a venue for temporary exhibitions of the Civic Museums and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Lecco. On the ground floor, the guardhouse and some stone cannonballs are still visible (Original) Di origine trecentesca, la torre è probabilmente l'edificio lecchese più antico.

Lungolago di Lecco is a charming lakefront area with a pedestrian walkway, offering stunning views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. The picturesque lakeside promenade provides a tranquil setting for leisurely strolls, with benches available to sit and soak in the serene atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy capturing breathtaking photos, feeding local birds, or even taking a boat out on the lake.
The views of the lake were truly stunning, I must admit. It's a fantastic spot for capturing breathtaking photos and feeding the local pigeons, ducks, and swans. Taking a boat out on the lake is also an option. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk, especially with the perfect weather conditions. Overall, it was an amazing experience.

Such a beautiful place to visit alone, even with his girlfriend or boyfriend I highly recommend to you to visit this city in Italy for some point like the view the food or even the culture in the city, which is absolutely beautiful. There’s even some beautiful pictures that you can take there so it’s not that impressive than Como but I do really recommend you to visit this city !

An amazing lake view promenade and park 😍 absolutely LOVE this natural beauty. Friendly local and user-friendly walking / running tracks. One improvement perhaps to have more public wash rooms and or WC and more drinking water fountains would be great addition to this gorgeous place with the amazing natural beauty surrounding.

5⭐️ Peaceful Promenade with Stunning Mountain Views Lungolago di Lecco is a beautiful and peaceful promenade with breathtaking views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. You can clearly see Malgrate just across the lake, making for a postcard-perfect backdrop. It’s never too crowded, even in summer, and offers amazing sunrise and sunset views. Great for a relaxing walk, quiet reflection, or some truly stunning photos. 📸 Highly recommended if you’re looking to enjoy Lake Como without the tourist rush.

Vallo Delle Mura in Lecco is a historical site featuring the mighty fourteenth-century walls that reflect the military transformation by the Dukes of Milan. The area also houses cultural attractions such as an art gallery and Il Teatro Sociale, the main theatre in Lecco. (Translated by Google) This is the only part of the defensive walls still visible, built in the fourteenth century by Azzone Visconti to fortify the village. The walls also incorporated the castle near the lake, of which the Visconti Tower can be admired, even if half hidden by various buildings. The village was also strengthened during the dominion of the Sforza and, subsequently, until the early sixteenth century, the period to which the bastion, which was located at the beginning of the current Via Bovara, dates back. The Spanish, towards the middle of the 16th century, strengthened the fortifications to adapt it to new warfare techniques with the use of artillery. The walls of Lecco were demolished at the end of the eighteenth century, when, under Austrian rule, the castle of Lecco was sold to private individuals. I was pleased to notice that this area has been enhanced in recent years and presented to the attention of tourists with interesting information panels. The black iron shape that portrays Azzone Visconti is a bit minimalist and not very nice to look at.

Breathtaking view. About a 35 minute hike from the nearest parking, with clear signage on which path to follow. For a tourist, the ride up the mountain to the parking area could be a bit scary, so if you’re not into that, it might be best to avoid.

Scenic spot on an easy trail. We were able to park nearby for free in April and walked 30 minutes up a gentle trail to this viewpoint. To get there, easiest way is to park car at “Parcheggio Valentino 23821” (search it in Google maps) and the walk is about 30 minutes. Do not put this place for directions as it will take you to bottom of the hill. Amazing views and very low effort, the drive up the hill is a bit tricky if you have big car but should be fine.

Why would you not hike up San Martino? Is there a single better use of a Sunday than to scramble up the lovely path from the Castello neighborhood for a little picnic and a thermos of coffee at the peak? If there is, I'm not sure I want to know about it.

Experience the charm of Lake Como with a unique and folkloric activity - a taxi boat tour of the Gulf, available from April to September. The 30-minute excursion takes you along the Canottieri Lecco, where the lake meets the Adda, and to Malgrate's lakefront with Rocca in the background. The captain shares captivating stories about each stop, making it an extraordinary experience.
My wife Ali and I did a 4hour lake tour with Alex today and enjoyed every minute. We enjoyed the different perspective of Lake Como towns from the water and Alex's commentary on special sights. We stopped for lunch at Bellagio which was 'heaving' and were thankful to return to Alex's boat. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour thinking it's a 'must do' in Lake Como. Many thanks Alex and Ingrid.

Alex took my wife and me on a sunset cruise to dinner while on our honeymoon in Lecco. The booking process was relatively easy before we landed in Italy. Taxi Boat Malgrate even made us a dinner reservation at Crotto del Misto (totally recommend!) to make the logistics easy. Alex stopped and pointed out many of the major villas along the way. Overall this was a very special and romantic evening and I’m so happy we booked with them.

My husband and I had so much fun on the taxi boat in Malgrate—it was one of the highlights of our trip to Lake Como. The ride was smooth and relaxing, and the views of the lake and surrounding mountains were absolutely breathtaking. The boat was very clean and comfortable, and the captain was friendly and professional, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.

(Translated by Google) I honestly think that this is one of the most interesting attractions on Lake Como. A fantastic form of recreation and visiting villas located by the lake. It is the view from the boat that allows you to see these objects in their full glory. The captain eagerly stopped at each of them and told the history of the place. The cruise from Malgrate to Varenna will always remain in my memory as something extraordinary. I recommend. It's worth it! Polecam. Warto!

(Translated by Google) We ordered a personal walk on the Lake (2 passengers). Everything was comfortable. Went on time. Stayed in beautiful places, the captain told about local attractions in understandable English. Well knows the features of his boat, so we have not been so much swing on the waves. Nestled along the picturesque lakeside of Lecco, the "Monumento ai fratelli caduti del mare" stands as a poignant tribute to those who lost their lives at sea. This monument, inaugurated in 1986, is not just a memorial but also an integral part of the area's rich maritime history, reflecting its deep connections with local industries during wartime.
Awesome place with an incredible atmosphere and landscape. Highly recommended for visiting.

(Translated by Google) It is a monument that can be admired during a walk along the lakeside of Lecco. It is located in a suggestive setting: the front part has the colors of the lake and the villages overlooking it as a background, the back part has the area with the monument dedicated to Stoppani. A necessary meditation stop.

The monument placed in 1986, facing the lake with a view of the Parè fortress, in the background the Stoppani building and Mount Resegone, also recalls the strong link of the territory with the Badoni industries during the war period.
