Park
Nature & Parks
Richmond Park is an expansive walled park that was originally a 17th-century hunting ground and is still home to hundreds of deer. The area also boasts notable edifices such as Hampton Court, Richmond Palace, White Lodge, and Strawberry Hill. Additionally, visitors can explore Kew Gardens and the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington. The park offers stunning views from King Henrys Mound and provides a variety of dining options in the surrounding area.
Such a beautiful beautiful park! It’s so vast that you can walk around for the whole day and there’ll still be places left unexplored. It’s hands down one of the best green spaces in London. The park has this peaceful, wild atmosphere that’s hard to find in London. There are open grasslands, wooded areas, little ponds, and loads of walking and cycling paths that can keep you exploring for hours. If you’re lucky, you will find deer casually wandering around. You can walk, run, bike, or simple chill under a tree, it feels amazing to do so, connecting with nature and with your own thoughts. You can also get some great views over London from King Henry’s Mound. I went on a sunny weekend and the crowd wasn’t much as expected. The park is so big that if you walk a bit further in, you’ll always find quiet spots. And if you are a Ted Lasso fan, you’ll find places in Richmond that you’d have seen in the series. Highly recommend the place!
Ankitha C — Google review
Richmond Park is one of my favorite escapes from the city—it feels like stepping into the countryside without actually leaving London. The best part has to be the wildlife. Seeing the deer up close is always a bit magical, especially when they’re just calmly grazing or wandering across the paths like they own the place. There are also loads of birds and little hidden corners where you can spot rabbits or just enjoy the quiet. Every time I go, it feels a bit different depending on the season. Food-wise, there are a couple of really good spots to grab something. I love stopping at Pembroke Lodge for a coffee or lunch—it’s got such a nice view and a relaxed vibe. But honestly, bringing a picnic is just as fun because the park has endless space to spread out. It’s easy to find your own little patch of grass where you can sit for ages, people-watch, or just enjoy being surrounded by all that green. The Isabella Plantation is definitely a highlight if you like gardens. In spring it’s absolutely bursting with color, but even outside of that, it’s such a calm and pretty place to wander around. The little streams and winding paths make it feel really tucked away, almost like a secret garden. Between the open fields, the wildlife, and spots like this, Richmond Park always feels like a proper day out—peaceful but never boring.

I visited Richmond Park last Saturday and had an amazing time. It’s such a peaceful place where you can truly relax and enjoy nature🏔️🏝️. You can go jogging, cycling, or even horse riding there. I saw beautiful birds, deer, and lots of other wildlife . it’s the perfect spot to unwind and feel refreshed.🏕️🏝️

I feel so fortunate to live near such a beautiful place and its amazing to have such a large slice of nature with deer roaming around withing London. Equally beautiful in every season and perfect place for dog walking. Also seems to be better managed in recent years with upgraded cafes, improved signs and traffic control measures.
Lukas V — Google review
100% recommend strolling through Richmond Park. Very peaceful. Full of wildlife. The deer are beautiful and quite tolerant to people. Great escape from the busyness of the city and not far away. Don’t miss out on this one. Definitely a hidden gem if you are visiting the area.
Caleb P — Google review
Richmond Park is absolutely amazing! 🦌 It’s such a beautiful and peaceful place where you can see lots of deer up close — from cute baby deer to huge stags that you definitely shouldn’t get too close to! 😅 The park is massive, and you can easily spend a whole day exploring it. Besides the deer, there are stunning gardens, beautiful trees, and so many lovely walking paths to enjoy nature at its best. 🌳🌸 It was such a wonderful experience — I totally recommend visiting this gorgeous park. You’ll love every minute of it!
M K — Google review
One of London’s premier spots for picnics, offering over 2,500 acres of ancient woodlands, rolling grasslands, wildflower meadows, and roaming deer herds for a truly immersive nature experience.
Atiq K — Google review
A must-visit green escape in London Richmond Park is massive, peaceful, and full of natural beauty. The wild deer are the highlight and make the experience magical. Perfect for picnics, walks, or a family day out — and it’s all free! If you're looking for one of the best free things to do in London, especially for nature lovers, this park is a perfect choice. With wide open spaces, beautiful gardens, and plenty of walking and cycling paths, there’s something for everyone. The real gem is seeing the deer roam freely — it adds a unique and unforgettable touch to the visit. Kid‑friendly: A great option for families. Children will love spotting the deer, running through the open fields, and enjoying a relaxed outdoor day. Plenty of space for picnics and play. Whether you're a local or a tourist, Richmond Park is a peaceful escape from the city that’s well worth your time. I absolutely loved it and will definitely be back!

The Rose Theatre in Kingston is a modern theatre with an Elizabethan-inspired design that hosts a variety of productions. It has been praised as the unofficial national theatre for comedy, hosting monthly stand-up shows featuring talented comedians from around the world. The venue offers a relaxed atmosphere and reasonably priced tickets, with the option to bring your own cushion and sit at the front of the stage. Visitors have enjoyed diverse events at the theatre, from hilarious stand-up sets to insightful talks by notable figures.
We absolutely loved the Koala Kevin show! At first, I thought Kevin’s voice didn’t quite match what I had imagined, but as the show went on, it all made perfect sense. The character really grew on us. The performance was engaging, full of energy, and had plenty of laughs for both kids and adults. The seats offered great views, making the experience even better. Overall, we had a fantastic time, and we’ll definitely be back for more kids' shows in the future. Highly recommend it to families looking for a fun, interactive experience!

The Rose Theatre, situated along the River Thames in Kingston, provides an intimate and engaging atmosphere. We went on a visit to watch, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ which was phenomenal, we loved every second of it! Such artistry. The auditorium had a semicircular design, which brings the audience close to the performers, ensuring a unique theatre experience with excellent views and acoustics throughout, my daughter was also offered a cushion to adjust her height, to be able to have a better view of the stage. The theatre itself is welcoming, with a spacious foyer, friendly staff, and a comfortable café and bar area. However, be prepared for high prices on snacks, particularly for children. A small tub of sweets is priced at £2.20, and a small bar of chocolate costs £1.80 — notably expensive for what they are. Overall, the Rose Theatre is a delightful place to enjoy a live performance, despite the cost of its concessions.
Wildatheart S — Google review
Very relaxed and friendly theatre. I took three small people to watch 'Tom Gates' Epic Stage Show' which they thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere was really good, and the whole experience was hassle-free. Tom Gates was even kind enough to sign autographs and chat to the children at the stage door after the show. EPIC!
John L — Google review
Great night out. The tickets were a bit expensive, but what's involved and who to make a show is fair. Drinks were a fair price from the rose theatre.
Debbie G — Google review
Went to my girlfriend’s graduation at Rose Theatre, and honestly, the place was a letdown. Seats were uncomfortable, worn out, and some looked like they’d been chewed by rats. For the price and the importance of the event, it felt unacceptable. Both the theatre and university should do better — graduates and families deserve a cleaner, more respectful venue.
Bhuvaneshwaran R — Google review
Really nice theatre. Modern, and clean. Staff were welcoming. Plenty of leg room in the seats. Great view of the stage from the circle seating. Didn't use the cafe though, so can't comment on that, but all round good experience.

The Rose Theatre in Kingston is a true cultural treasure. Nestled in the heart of Kingston upon Thames, this beautifully designed venue offers an intimate and welcoming atmosphere that makes every visit feel special. Inspired by the original Elizabethan playhouses, the theatre’s unique layout brings the audience closer to the stage, creating a wonderfully immersive experience. From world-class plays and captivating performances to family shows, music, and community events, the Rose consistently delivers a diverse and high-quality programme. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and passionate about the arts, making every guest feel valued. Whether you’re a seasoned theatre-goer or simply looking for an enjoyable night out, the Rose Theatre is a must-visit. It’s a place where creativity thrives, stories come alive, and the magic of theatre is celebrated in every performance. Highly recommended!

Went to see Emma, a modern interpretation of the Emily Bronty novel, here last night, brilliant play, funny, engaging and wonderfully acted. On a separate note....... ordered 2 drinks, bill came to £10.20, gave the young lady ( who was lovely) £20 and she really struggled working out the change..... NOT an criticism of her, more of how our education system is failing our youngsters

The Kingston Bridge is a landmark structure in central London linking Hampton Wick on the North Bank with Kingston upon Thames on the South Bank. The bridge is notable for its ornate cast iron arches and for its role in popularizing the South West as a commuter zone for people living in Central London. The bridge is also used by traffic travelling between Bushy Park and Hampton Court Park, and between Hampton Wick and Kingston upon Thames.
Want somewhere romantic to stroll through on a lovely Friday evening?.. totally worth walking across the Kingston Riverbank. There was a cute little pub with decent food.
Da S — Google review
Well it's a bridge!! Across the Thames at Kingston-Upon-Thames (surprisingly!). The picture provides a great side-on view but once on the bridge itself you can see the clever design that allows people on the bridge to get off at either end - stunning ingenuity!. And even more so since there is even a similar facility for horses and those new fangled motorised carriages! Don't miss it!
Neil H — Google review
This is such a beautiful area to just come and chill. If I could sit here for hours, I would.
Vernon R — Google review
Beautiful riverside walk. It runs parallel to good restaurants and the riverside. It’s perfect in summer with ducks and swans. You can have a quiet time or a groupie time along the river bank of Thames. It’s lot better than the pictures
Sana F — Google review
Great place to go with friends, Beautiful views definitely worth a visit. Nice restaurants around. Amazing activities to do such as hiring a boat.
London T — Google review
The bridge is very effective and has been for a very long time. It conveys four standard traffic lanes and a bus lane at road level. This is very effective in making sure it doesn’t interact with river traffic as there is sufficient clearance to allow bit to continue seamlessly in tandem. On one side of the bridge Hampton Wick is very pleasant and is the gateway to some nice pubs and two parks. On the Kingston side it is home to soulless overpriced premises generally. With the lack of river crossings in London it serves a purpose but the two sides would probably be happier parted truth be told.
Sean W — Google review
This bridge is a bridge in Kingston which is why it's called Kingston bridge. The bridge allows pedestrians and traffic to pass above the water whilst simultaneously allowing vessels to seamlessly navigate their way through the river Thames undisturbed. It's one of the bridges in Kingston and it looks as though it does everything it's meant to but I haven't studied bridges so that may be incorrect. As far as I'm aware it's here to stay which is useful and is probably why it's here anyway but just a thought? The only reason I'm leaving 3 stars is because it's a bridge at the end of the day but it is still quite a good one and does everything it should do. Just a final point, the moss near the bank looks slippy and wet so definitely approach with caution but in fairness that's not actually the bridge itself.
Will — Google review
Yeap, it's definitely a bridge that gets you from point A to point B without getting wet.

Kingston Museum is a must-visit for those interested in delving into the history of the town. The museum showcases exhibits on Anglo-Saxon kings, Kingston-made pottery, and notable residents such as pioneering photographer Eadweard Muybridge and Nipper the HMV dog. It also features temporary exhibitions on its top floor.
Definitely a hidden treasure. Small but very well curated local history museum of Kingston. Full of interesting historical artefacts. Free of charge. Family and children friendly with a free activity area. There is a free special exhibition recently : Creative Flow, Kingston, art and the river until 13/04/2024. Highly Recommend.

a lovely local museum with friendly staff and a lot of artifacts from kingston's history. as someone extremely interested in muybridge's work it's lovely to see the rotating art exhibits inspired by his works every year! the staff are very kind and will answer any questions you have for them, if you're in the area and it's open it's definitely worth popping in to learn about the history of this beautiful town.

Connected to Kingston library, it is a small but a charming little museum with some interesting historical artifacts on Sunday. There is a small art gallery on the first floor. The volunteer at the desk was welcoming and happy to have a chat. We worth a visit if you are in Kingston and some time to spare.

Great little museum. I've lived in Kingston for most of my life and have only just visited. Don't wait as long as I did!
Ian L — Google review
It's small museum. It opens only 3 day of week from Thursday to Saturday . Admission is free. We visited on Saturday, there was no queue and museum was almost empty. Reception staff is friendly. The museum's holdings include 120 Martinware ceramics, some of which are on display. The art gallery on the first floor of the museum hosts a changing programme of exhibitions as well as talks and events.

All Saints Church in Kingston upon Thames is a picturesque 12th-century church with a rich and fascinating history. It is the historic site where seven kings of Saxon England were crowned, including King Athelstan in 925. Evidence suggests that there was a church on the same site dating back to Saxon times, with King Egbert of Wessex holding his great council there in 838 AD.
My first visit to the area after a three hour train journey to complete the Bear Hunt Sculpture Trail (May 2024). What a beautiful town to explore. There were walks along the River Thames, plenty of restaurants, cafés, and eateries. All Saints Church is an absolute must-see, I explored from the beautiful gateway on the Market Place. Within you will find a wealth of history, beautiful architecture, and stunning stained glass. You'll also discover that this church is a real community hub, with a fabulous cafe, restaurant, and gift shop, alongside areas to take a moment, say a prayer, and support those less fortunate than ourselves. It was truly a genius mix that just worked and felt inclusive. It also felt so warm, like being given a big hug. This is often a difficult combination to achieve, such a fantastic job, Kingston. If shopping is your thing there was a modern looking shopping centre just a short walk from the train station, as well as several well-known and independent shops around town. Lots of history too, make sure to look above some of the shop windows. I thoroughly enjoyed my day trip and found all the Bears. Thank you for hosting a wonderful art trail, Kingston upon Thames!!

This time of year, it becomes everything, Christmas! Just the tonic to give you the spirit of Christmas. A mass of wooden huts, many offering hearty, and, I'm pleased to say, stonking good food! Wait till you small them, totally irresistible! Love it! Good fun, great atmosphere, free local entertainment, and yummy stools. Does what it says on the tin.. Caught the Christmas spirit, yay!

A lovely welcoming church. Not only is this a beautiful ancient church building with magnificent stained glass windows but there is also a fabulous cafe run by a social entrepreneur called Sarah. I recommend the pistachio chocolate cake with a a cappuccino. The church services are very welcoming and an opportunity to explore the meaning of life itself.
Krish K — Google review
A stunning church which is steeped in amazing history. Beautiful Stained Glass Windows and the freedom to explore the church. Wonderful Cafe/Coffee Shop inside which is well worth a visit for refreshments in the settings of an incredible building with a huge part of British History which happened right there!

Absolutely love this church and the stained glass here which they have a leaflet that provides more details. The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable about the church. And there is a wonderful cafe in the church called Sarah's Cafe. Worth visiting if you are in Kingston.

Stopped into this beautiful church today as there was a sign outside saying church cafe open, so with my daughter we went inside. The cafe was lovely and we had a cup of tea, a hot chocolate and a slice of millionaires cake 😁😁😁 I had a walk around the church and took some lovely pics too ☺️☺️☺️ Before we left, my daughter needed a toilet which the church also has, which was very clean and tidy 👍👍👍 Thank you so much ❤️

**⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unforgettable Night at a Historic Gem!** I visited All Saints Church on for Rise Against’s in-store event, and it was an absolutely surreal experience! This 900-year-old church —where Saxon kings were once crowned—transformed into a punk-rock haven for the night, blending ancient history with electric modern energy. The band’s performance against the backdrop of medieval architecture, flint walls, and pale blue-painted ceilings created a vibe I’ll never forget. Why it’s 5 stars: 1. **Unique Atmosphere**: Where else can you mosh under 15th-century timber beams while gold-tinged angels watch from above? The acoustics in this space were incredible—every chord echoed powerfully . 2. **Seamless Organization**: Despite the crowd, entry was smooth, and the staff balanced reverence for the church with enthusiasm for the concert. Even the merch tables fit right in! 3. **Rich History Meets Modern Community**: Before the show, I explored the Saxon-era stone outlines in the churchyard and saw the oldest stone fragment (possibly from a 1,000-year-old cross!) . The church’s role as a community hub—hosting markets, cafes, and even fashion fundraisers —shows its vibrant spirit. 4. **Accessibility**: Centrally located at 14-16 Market Place, Kingston , with entrances on both sides and free admission for casual visits . Seeing Rise Against here felt like a secret gig in Westminster Abbey’s cooler, more rebellious cousin ! **A must-visit**—whether you’re a history buff, music lover, or just seeking soul-stirring architecture. Bravo, All Saints! 🙌

Very nice old church in the centre of Kingston. I went there today to look for the memorial of the Davidson family as mentioned on the clan Davidson website www.clandavidson.org.uk/resources/ After chatting with the Verger, he pointed me to the large memorial which is now positioned behind the cafe serving area. I managed to take some photos of the inscriptions which are still very legible. The memorials are for Duncan Davidson his wife Lucy and his brother Henry. It states their dates of death are 1799, 1777 and 1781 respectively. However the date on the memorial is MDCCCXXVII ie 1827. There is also a memorial to Elizabeth Caroline beloved wife of Henry Davidson aged 56 with a date of 4th March 1828.

The Coronation Stone, located in front of the Guildhall in Kingston, is an ancient sarsen stone that holds great historical significance. According to tradition, it was the site where seven Anglo-Saxon kings were coronated in the 10th century. Originally situated south of the Market Place, it was moved to its current location in 1935.
Æthelstan was consecrated king at Kingston in 925, Eadred in 946 and Æthelred the Unready in 979. There is also some evidence that Edward the Elder, Edmund I, Eadwig and Edward the Martyr were consecrated in the town. According to John Stow, writing in the late sixteenth century, Æthelstan was crowned on a stage in the market place, but it was later believed that the kings were crowned in the ancient church of St Mary, which collapsed in 1730. A large stone block was recovered soon afterwards from the ruins of the chapel, and it has since been regarded as the "Coronation Stone" of the Kings of the English. It was used for a time in the late 18th century to the early 19th century as a mounting block, but in 1850 it was placed in the market place on a plinth in front of the old Town Hall (on the site now occupied by the 'Market House' today).which had the names of the seven kings believed to have been crowned on it inscribed around the side.

Visited on the 1100th anniversary of Athelstan's coronation. Nice to be a peripheral part of the celebrations. The Stone itself is always worth a visit.

Awesome a stone with a huge historical interest. Yes its not big but its the original stone used in the coronation of King's and Queens. This is well worth a visit even if you can't stand the Monarchy as its a portal to our past that gas affected us all in some way. I thought its good its free great disabled access too.

The Fighting Cocks Bar & Venue is a renowned rock bar in South West London, offering live music, pool, drink specials, and Monday night comedy. Since 2000, it has been a popular hangout spot known for award-winning comedy shows and great live music. The venue boasts cheap drinks, pool tables, old school arcades, and a jukebox.
We had such a great night. Live music in a cool venue. Stafford is a fantastic bartender!

Historic and iconic bar established 135 years ago, with a history for having hosted touring jazz musicians back in the 30’s! Great place to see a broad variety of musical genres! We were there for As It Is and High Regard pop punk.

This bar has everything you'd wish for in a bar. The building is divide into a front section with the bar itself and a back section with the venue area. The staff was always nice and had a lot of humour. The venue area was big enough to comfortably hold around 50 people. Would always recommend a visit here, even if it's just for a (tasty) beer.
Snuffy — Google review
We went there to see "as December falls". I will be honest, I'm in my late 40's and went mainly to support my youngest (20). I can honestly say I really enjoyed myself, it had the vibe of a rock/metal gig venue from 25-30 years ago, everyone looking out for each other, but with a modern twist, a new generation following the old school values of doing their best to just love the music and doing all the can to help others enjoy it too. The other thing that struck me is the price of drinks, here in Surrey we are sadly used to being hammered by drink prices, and I fully expected the drinks to be on the he pricey side, especially as we were a captive audience, that had choice but pay the prices they charged. The date was the 15/08/2025 and 2 single vodkas with cranberry came to £11 (something). I have paid a lot more in places I have enjoy far less in the area. Finally, without going into detail, we had some additional needs, we needed a chair for the gig part, and honestly it was no trouble, we told one person at the bar, I didn't catch his name, but but the time we got into the gig part, all the staff knew, and were descreetly on hand if needed Thanks to all the staff at the fighting cocks, those at banquet records who ran the music part, and to As December Falls for a brilliant albeit hot and sticky night

Atmosphere is the key winner here, Redbull on tap though is a must avoid guys, not good, get canned if available. Staff are more than friendly and and get through service super quick, cover bands they have here are brilliant, easily the best night out in Kingston-upon-Thames I've experienced. Follow this up with Bacchus, make sure you bring physical ID or its a no go.

Came in here for a post work drink, stayed for the live music, great drink selection and excellent bar staff. Popped in to read my book and relax after a long day, they had an extensive (albeit a little pricey) jukebox and wide range of drinks. Bar staff were great (he was wrong on the new superman movie but you can’t have everything :)) and vibe was immaculate. Would definitely recommend.

Great bar, great jukebox, beers good and the staff friendly. Well worth a visit.

Bad beer, visited at the end of my stag do looking for a nite cap across the road from our hotel. Best man and myself, not welcomed for drinks. Left at the end of the bar due to how we were dressed. If you are not grudge or emo et al then you’re not welcome, despite your beliefs. Ignorance is bliss for this, we thought spoons was crap before finding this place. We just wanted a drink and to be left alone which was impossible.

The Out of Order Sculpture in Kingston Upon Thames is a unique and famous sight created by artist David Mach. This contemporary art installation features twelve red telephone boxes arranged in a domino effect, with one box standing upright and the others leaning against each other at different angles. Commissioned in 1988 as part of the local relief road landscaping, this anti-minimalist sculpture has gained worldwide recognition. Located on Old London Road, it offers visitors a memorable and picturesque experience.
It is a wonderful place to visit. The neighborhood is very clean and neat, several pedestrian streets and many restaurants nearby. suitable for shopping or a walk - with friends, only with or without headphones. There is also a lovely fruit and vegetable market nearby. It is a wonderful place, regardless of the season, day or night. Not far Is the river, a wonderful sight.

During my visit to Kingston, I came across the classic red London telephone boxes, and they were such a charming sight. a little piece of London’s culture. Seeing them in Kingston made the walk even more enjoyable and gave the place a unique and authentic London vibe.

It was really, really interesting to see this after having viewed it on various You Tube channels. Many people have raised the issue that the booths could use repainting, which I think is a fantastic idea. It would be really neat if some booths could be kept red, while others painted with different colours and designs. It was interesting to photograph this and so many people have achieved excellent shots of this sculpture. The refurbished sculpture was unveiled by David Mach on 3 April 2019. I think that the sculpture is unique and I enjoyed seeing it.

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Clattern Bridge, located in Kingston High Streets, is the oldest surviving bridge in London with a history dating back to the 12th century. This historic structure crosses over the Hogsmill River and features beautiful arches when viewed from downstream. The name "Clattern" originates from the clattering sound of horses' hooves on its cobbled surface. Adjacent to the bridge stands the crowned stone, where seven kings of England were reportedly crowned during the Middle Ages.
Clattern Bridge, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, is a short bridge. First referenced in 1293, it is one of the oldest bridges in Surrey It's epic

Nice. You’d probably stand in and go back to the past and try to image horses drawn carriages and beautiful ladies dressed in elegant clothes. Just in front of the bridge there is the crowned stone, the stone where it is said were crowned the 7 kings of England during middle age.
Pietro R — Google review
Apparently the oldest bridge in London and one of the oldest in the country, built around 1175, it spans the Hogsmill River just before it drains into the Thames. You wouldn’t really notice it if you walk or drive over it, but walk just down the path and it’s an interesting bridge to look at. There are plenty of nice restaurants and pubs by the river here, so the bridge is something interesting to look at whilst you go for a drink or bite to eat in Kingston.
Andy W — Google review
This is an excellent bridge. I was able to walk from one side of the river to the other side without getting wet.
James C — Google review
Built in 1175, replacing an earlier bridge built by the Saxons. It’s the oldest bridge in London. You can see the original medieval part on the downstream side with the later bring additions above. Still in everyday use with cars and buses going over it,

I love coming across these pieces of history randomly scattered around. Great to take the stairs down beside the bridge and take a look at some of the old brick work.

Stumbled upon Clattern Bridge in Kingston upon Thames – what a hidden gem! Dating back to around 1175, this medieval marvel over the Hogsmill River is one of England’s oldest intact bridges, still buzzing with traffic and history. The clattering hooves of old inspired its name, and with the river flowing gently below and flowers blooming nearby, it’s a perfect spot for a quick, enchanting photo op. Worth a detour if you’re exploring London’s southwest – timeless charm in the heart of the city! #ClatternBridge

I've passed through Kingston so many times and never ready explored the history. This time I was able to walk around a bit and found some interesting things including the Clattern Bridge which dates back to the 12th century, around 1175. It is the oldest bridge in London which is still in use and crosses the Hogsmill river a tributary of the Thames.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Hampton Court Park, also known as Home Park, is a walled royal park featuring grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands. It's home to fallow deer and century-old trees. The park offers a beautiful trail around Busy Park and Hampton Court Park with views of the River Thames. Visitors can spot wildlife such as deer, birds of prey, and waterfowl while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The Long Water provides stunning views of Hampton Court Palace amidst picturesque scenery.
Hampton Court Park (Home Park), England I was absolutely impressed and mesmerized by Hampton Court Park (Home Park). This expansive 750-acre park is a haven of natural beauty and tranquility. Walking through the vast open spaces, surrounded by ancient trees and serene water features, felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat far removed from the bustle of everyday life. The Long Water Canal, stretching elegantly through the park, took my breath away with its reflections of the sky and surrounding greenery. The sight of deer grazing freely in the meadows added a magical touch to the experience, making it feel like a scene out of a storybook. With the cool weather, the park became even more inviting. It was the perfect setting for a leisurely stroll, a quiet moment of reflection, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature. The combination of crisp air, peaceful surroundings, and stunning views made every step feel refreshing and inspiring. Hampton Court Park truly left a lasting impression on me. It’s not just a park; it’s a place where nature’s beauty and history come together to create a remarkable experience. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a serene and breathtaking escape near London. This season is ideal for leisurely walks, picnics under the trees, or a relaxed bike ride. The cooler temperatures make outdoor activities more enjoyable and less tiring, while the natural beauty of the park shines in its own way during autumn or winter.

Hampton court park (or home park is a picturesque royal park in Molesey next door to (and originally part of) Hampton court palace, it has plenty of green space, lots of shade from tree cover in the summer and plenty of benches to relax on and take in the surroundings from. the only aspects of your trip to this park to keep in mind is the riverfront entrance by Hampton court palace has steep steps leading up to the gate, so is not accessible, and during certain hours golf is played here therefore restricting access to different sections of the park. overall I strongly recommend that anyone takes a trip to this park. The best park in Greater London. I can come there in any mood, and after I spend 3-4 hours there I always feel great. Bear in mind the only toilets are in the golf club.
Andrey S — Google review
Huge park with magnificent trees and walking trails. The ponds within this area are well maintained and had ducks, swans and other birds. The long walk along one of the ponds to see Hampton court palace at one end is beautiful and I could see lots of deer on the other side of the pond. In the cold weather, the only people who come here are dog walkers or hikers with boots to deal with the muddy and wet grounds. The only disappointment for me was that the exits marked on Google were actually closed and locked up which made me walk a lot more than I wanted to eventually exit the park.
Sanjay P — Google review
We entered the park from Hampton Wick and walked past the pond along the long avenue to the back of Hampton Court Palace. We could not get out of the park at that end so had to go all the way back to where we came in. It is a pleasant place for a long, quiet walk with extensive views.
David W — Google review
Absolutely beautiful area to walk around. If you walk through the nearby park you might see a herd of deer. One star of because it’s so expensive to enter the palace! About 34 pounds when I was there, so I didn’t go to the palace which I otherwise would have loved to.
Heather C — Google review
Expansive area for walking, so close to London, with lovely views of the mighty Hampton Court Palace. There are grasslands, woodlands (some of which are ancient) and wetlands which are home to many species of birds. Many deer also. Due to its size its easy to get disorientated but also easy to find some quiet and tranquil areas.

If you're planning a visit during the holiday season, make sure to check out the enchanting Kingston Christmas Market, which takes place annually in November and December. This market is a true festive gem, featuring charmingly decorated stalls adorned with twinkling lights that create an inviting ambiance. The delightful aroma of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts fills the air as you stroll through a diverse array of vendors offering unique gifts and handmade crafts.
The Kingston Christmas Market is absolutely delightful! The festive atmosphere is perfect, with beautifully decorated stalls, twinkling lights, and the smell of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts in the air. There’s a great variety of stalls selling unique gifts, handmade crafts, and delicious food. The live music adds such a warm, cheerful vibe to the whole experience, and it’s a lovely place for families, couples, or even a solo wander. It can get a bit crowded during peak times, but that’s part of the charm of a bustling Christmas market.
HusbandCanCook — Google review
A real Christmas market with two centres: a small one with stalls and traders in the grounds of the church and then of course the Ancient Market with stalls and stage, live music... we love it. You can eat well here, drink mulled wine and hot chocolate (or a pint of beer) and do all your Christmas shopping.
Herby 5 — Google review
A firm date in my diary every year. As authentic as in Germany with all the food and stalls that makes a Christmas market.
Melanie — Google review
This market exceeded my expectations. Live Christmas songs and a wide selection of food stalls. I tried Ethiopian/ Eritrean food which was perfect, and the best Dutch pancakes. The prices are also generally more affordable than Christmas markets in Central London.
Yasmin — Google review
Nothing Christmassy about this apology for a 'European style Christmas market'. One or two stalls selling Christmas decorations one of which looked like the stock was fake German from China. No Christmas food or drink, just generic Asian street food (for the most part). Utter waste of a long journey to get there based on obviously misleading reviews online. Complete absence of any Christmas atmosphere. A truly abysmal and disappointing experience.
Krys — Google review
There's hardly any stalls left and the village has already been dismantled, in contrast to what's mentioned on the website.
Ivan M — Google review
Most disappointing on our visit yesterday. No sign of the curling lanes advertised all over their website, no entertainment to speak of and apart from some food stalls (which were actually very good) nothing of note to buy or do. Seems they packed up at Christmas itself and forgot to mention this. Don't advertise a Chrstmas market for the whole season until 5th Jan if it's going to end half way through the holidays!

Coombe Conduit, a historic site dating back to 1529, served as a crucial water source for Hampton Court Palace. This well-preserved landmark collected fresh spring water from Kingston Hill and transported it to the palace for over three centuries. Visitors can witness the clear flowing water within its interior leading to cisterns. Managed by English Heritage, this Tudor structure is open for public viewing on select Sundays.
It may be small, but if you have a spare 20mins on one of the days it's open and are in the area, it's an interesting little place to pop along to! The volunteers are great at explaining how the water used to travel here from nearby springs, and be naturally purified, before making the 3-mile journey to Hampton Court Palace.
Suzanne B — Google review
If you enjoy Tudor history, this is fascinating. This serves as Coombe Hill's water gathering hub, directing multiple springs into this place. It used to feed into two lead pipes that went to Hampton Court via a Kingston, under Norbiton Station, down the hill, and across the riverbed. About three miles away. The two well houses connected by an underground tunnel. It's good to see, but not much. From April through September, it is only open on one weekend per month. Entry is free and typically not crowded. The volunteers gave a historical lesson and were very friendly.
Babji V — Google review
Fascinating if you like Tudor history. This is the centre of water collection on Coombe Hill, channelling several springs to a central reservoir. From here it used to feed into two lead pipes which ran down the hill, under Norbiton Station, through a Kingston and across the river bed to Hampton Court. Around three miles distant. Nice use of Tudor Brick for the two well houses joined by an underground tunnel. Not much to it but nice to see. Only open on one day a month, second Sunday of each from April to September. Free entry and usually not too busy.
Steve L — Google review
An iconic ineresting historical left over from an earlier age of water works for the King...King Henry VIII. Its remarkable how much trouble they took to construct it, partly with salvaged ecclesiastical stones from the dissolution of the Monasteries.
KNBD — Google review
This is fenced off from main road & only accessible every second Sunday April to Oct. The volunteers are very knowledgeable about the building. This is really for history buffs, you are shown 4 small chambers linked by a small tunnel which makes it feel cramped. It's slightly damp & there is some moulds and mosses in the chambers that house the wells. Curiosity made me go as I've passed it for many years & to find it supplied water to Hampton Court Palace was a surprise considering the distance between them. The history & engineering involved in the two buildings I found interesting, you should allow an hour for the tour by the guide & there are cards placed explaining some of the workings and history. If you park in Crown Road you'll be pretty much opposite the conduit.
John C — Google review
Very small but interesting. The tour guides where all lovely and knew what they were talking about. Takes around 30 mins to look around. Great family activity before Sunday lunch.
Jojo C — Google review
Extremely historic building. Supplied clean water to Hampton Court Palace. 1530.
Norman G — Google review
Well worth the visit. Very educational, I had no idea they had the technology to run pipes through a river in those days. Extraordinarily knowledgeable tour guides , very welcoming hosts and didn't mind the children hanging about. Parking is a little limited nearby, the bus might be best if you are based in Kingston. Beware the short opening times though. It really is only.one day a month and only April to September, so plan in advance. It wasn't too busy when we went on the September day

Although it's a small town, GoBoat Kingston offers plenty of activities and attractions to enjoy. Spending a day here can be easily filled with exploring the riverside and market center. Additionally, it conveniently pairs well with visits to Richmond or Hampton Court Palace. The booking process is hassle-free, and the staff at the desk are helpful and courteous. Boarding the boat on time provides options for choosing between different boats, such as those with canopies for sun protection.
Visited April 2025. We had a fantastic day on the river in a Go Boat! The weather was unseasonably warm and sunny (which was not Go Boat's fault) and the river was quiet and clear. Go Boat staff were professional and friendly, and responded quite well when we had an alarm sound on the boat mid cruise. We booked online in advance, including ordering food from their catering partner, and the whole process from arriving to sailing was swift and efficient. Definitely recommended, we had an amazing day. Extra credit that everything is also dog friendly!

Fantastic family fun. We booked in advance, but added a canopy on arrival as we had showers forecast. We took our own picnic. As the rain came over it did get very blowy & we almost lost a few pots & some food! We hired the boat for 3 hours & had plenty of time to go in both directions. The boats are easy to use. Would definitely recommend & we will be returning. We had a great time.
Elley F — Google review
We hired a boat for 3hrs in the afternoon. Due to the extremely heavy rain on our arrival, we asked to have one with a canopy and had to pay £20 extra for that which I did feel a bit annoyed about as there were loads of boats lined up with canopies on them and nobody else silly enough to go out on the river in the current weather conditions except us who had pre-booked! But whatever, we paid. The girl went through instructions quite quickly and wrote on the board that you get to take on the boat with us so figured it out as we went along. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, despite the weather and we pretty much had the river to ourselves! We stopped at The Albany pub which was lovely too. We took a picnic with us and ate that on the boat (thank goodness for the canopy!)

Turks Boat Launches Ltd has a rich history of providing Thames tours for over 300 years. Their route from Richmond Pier to Hampton Court is filled with historical landmarks such as Eel Pie Island and Teddington Locks Dunkirk Memorial. For those seeking livelier experiences, they offer disco and jazz cruises. The company also operates boat services between Richmond, Kingston, and Hampton Court during the season. Additionally, they provide GoBoat rentals and rowing lessons at Kingston Rowing Club.
I had the pleasure of hiring a boat for my 21st Birthday Party. Every step of the way, the team showed exceptional care and thought, and made what can be a daunting prospect of planning a large party enjoyable and smooth. The boat we used was gorgeous, sophisticated and practical. Their boats marry traditional sophistication and class with practicality, with ample room for dance, catering, outdoor chatter and indoor comfort. We sailed along the Thames amidst still waters, travelling through some of the most gorgeous stretches of London, enjoying privately sourced caterers and then a truly epic silent disco (I think even the bar stuff were having fun watching our out-of-tune singing.) Alex was a remarkably helpful and kind host, and I highly recommend this team and their service for anyone who is looking to have one of the most spectacular evenings possible in London. What a night to remember, thank you!

"Picnic" is a popular venue for hosting children's birthday parties. The planning and communication process with the staff was smooth and efficient, making it stress-free for parents. The variety of food options, including a delightful fruit platter, received high praise. The friendly and professional staff ensured that both kids and parents had a great time. The venue's cleanliness and well-equipped play area catered to all kids' needs.
We held my son's 2nd birthday party at PICNIC on Sunday and were very impressed with the planning, staff, and setting that PICNIC provides. We had the afternoon session, meaning everything had been tidied and cleaned before we arrived and our private party area was set up. Each child had a little lunch box filled with sandwiches, crisps, juice and some party rings, and we also ordered a fruit platter, which was beautiful arranged. You can bring your own birthday cake which the staff will present and distribute too. The play area was really nicely kept, with props in good condition. My son especially liked the 'building site' area as he is obsessed with diggers! We really enjoyed our time at PICNIC and would recommend it for birthday parties, as well as just a day out.

We had a lovely time celebrating our son's 3rd birthday party on Saturday at PICNIC. Planning was a breeze from start to finish, Khadra was extremely helpful and accommodating to our requests, and made it easy to confirm and finalise all the necessary details. On the day the team were welcoming and friendly, and on hand to help with setup. Also, very importantly, they helped us in preparing the cake to present and then cut and serve to our guests. I was actually able to stop and have conversations with guests rather than run around non-stop hosting. They were also super efficient at cleaning up before and after our party. It's a lovely venue to celebrate your little one, the kids had an absolute blast and we look forward to our next visit. Thank you!
Kirsten R — Google review
I had heard such great things about this place, so I was really looking forward to our visit. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations, and to be completely honest, I left feeling disappointed. On arrival, check-in was fine — we were greeted alongside other families, but once we made our way through the gate, that was it. There wasn’t a particularly warm welcome or any guidance. We were just told to find a table and go play. It felt a bit abrupt, and I couldn’t help but wonder if they assumed we’d been before (we hadn’t). My daughter headed straight to the camping area, then over to the construction zone — which was frankly quite dirty. We moved on to the main shopping street and hairdresser areas, but despite being there for only 15 minutes or so, we found very little available to actually play with. What was there was either broken, tired, or in need of a good clean. After just 25 minutes, my nearly five-year-old turned to me and said, “Mummy, I don’t know what to play with now.” I tried to encourage her to choose a different area, and she did enjoy the theatre — which was probably the nicest part — but even then, the costumes were worn and in need of refreshing. What stood out to me most was the lack of staff engagement. In the 30–40 minutes we were there, I didn’t see any staff tidying up or resetting the areas, which meant toys and props were often scattered or unusable. I imagine parents would be more willing to help keep things tidy if there was a bit more visible effort from the team. Or maybe the cafe is the biggest draw?? I didn’t stick around to check that out :( Overall, I left early feeling very underwhelmed. Perhaps we just caught it on an off day, but based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend it — especially if you’ve never been to a role play cafe or centre before. There are better options out there.

We booked the soft area for my son’s birthday party. All kids loved the place. The staff was amazing; they helped a lot with decorating, cutting & serving the cake. They were smiling at all times and were very pleasant. I couldn’t thank them enough for the wonderful service.

We celebrated my son’s 2nd birthday here and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience! From the very first message, the coordination and communication were seamless — everything was handled with such care and professionalism. The team went above and beyond to make sure every little detail was perfect, and their service on the day was outstanding. Everything ran smoothly, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and they made the whole celebration feel special and effortless. Our guests were impressed, and my son had the most wonderful time — truly a birthday to remember! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a well-organized, stress-free, and joy-filled event.

We had our little one’s 2nd birthday party at Picnic and it was absolutely perfect! Everything went so smoothly from start to finish. The staff (Sophie, Theresa, and Artikha) were incredible - they went above and beyond to help with decorations, offered great suggestions that made the party run even better, and made sure everything flowed perfectly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you for making our celebration so special! Highly highly recommend for the best birthday party!

We celebrated our little one’s 3rd birthday at Picnic in Kingston and it honestly couldn’t have been better. From the very first planning stage right through to the big day, everything was so smooth and stress-free. The team were just lovely – warm, attentive and genuinely caring, which made such a difference and let us actually relax and enjoy the party. I organise large events for work all over the world, and I can honestly say the service at Picnic stood out as exceptional. We felt so well looked after, and our child had the most magical day. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Picnic to any parent looking for the perfect birthday party venue – it was everything we hoped for and more.

We booked with Picnic at Kingston for a 4th birthday party and it honestly couldn’t have gone better. The staff were so friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived, and nothing was too much trouble. The kids had the best time running around the different themed play areas, trying on costumes, and making up their own games. It was great to just watch them play and enjoy themselves. The party hampers were a big hit too, and the team were brilliant at helping us get the cake ready without any stress. I’d definitely recommend Picnic if you’re looking for a fun and different place for a children’s party. It’s great value, really well run, and most importantly, the kids absolutely loved it!

Pop Playrooms in Kingston is a luxurious and fun destination offering a variety of activities and great food. Visitors can enjoy activities like Pop golf, darts, mini-golf, and pool while savoring signature cocktails such as the delicious Red Velvet. The venue offers special deals on certain days, making it an affordable option for entertainment. The staff is known for their friendliness and excellent service, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
Enjoyed playing darts and shuffle game with my brother at the Pop Playroom yesterday. Atmosphere is great and the choice of darts games was also great. Would like to say huge thanks to Alphie, who tried to fix the darts board when it wasn’t working and offered us other games with extended time. Great customer service! 😊
Sabina C — Google review
Chaotic and overpriced. We did a package offer for 4 attendees, and everything seemed very confusing to the staff there. The golf was adequate, the darts mildly entertaining, and the shuffle board ok but only works with even numbers. Wouldn't return.

Awful experience - would not recommend! Unlimited package is useless if all games are booked out individually I attended with a mixed group of disabled and carers. Purchased unlimited game package. Upon arrival only golf available so played even though that was not what we came for. After golf, was then told there would be a further 50 mins wait for any other game - except beer pong …not much good for under 18’s . Tried to play beer pong with empty cups to keep the party happy, only for one of the guests to fall over on the wet floor around the area ( no signage) but I didn’t make a fuss. When told the wait was still going to be 50 minutes, having seen people just walk in and go onto the darts (I’m guessing they had booked for darts and not unlimited) I spoke with staff to explain this was not acceptable. Barman was very polite and apologetic and offered to get his manager. I spoke with a lady who I thought was the manager, who advised me a refund would be processed. When u received the refund it was a minimal partial refund. I emailed to raise this, only to be told that who I spoke to on the night was not the manager but a supervisor, and that seen as it was only shuffleboard we could not do, then they would not refund anymore. I emailed again to explain that it was in fact shuffleboard, darts and pool that we could not do, hence I would like a full refund….to which I received no reply to date.

Amazing place to find. Had a 9 year old birthday party at the escape rooms and then needed to fill some time. Ended up here and it was awesome. Emily and Jasmine made everything so easy and unstressful. Loving the vibe of the place and the drinks were so affordable too. Definitely would come back in when passing.

It’s a lovely place to play a few games, but just a few points. The paddle board or table tennis I asked if it was available, and the girl said someone had booked it. Then when we eventually got the shuffleboard (one was broken and the other in use, we were on the darts) we were then told we had to give it up in about 30 minutes because someone had booked it. I understand you can book these things, but how does that balance when you have people booking unlimited play (such as us) then you book things out? The mini golf had young kids running all across it so we felt for a while stuck with just the darts! We did eventually get through to the golf, then the kids every so often would just run across it and I totally appreciate the parents should have been the ones to be saying something to them (I ended up saying something to the kids) but.. yeah equally I think there needs be better management of that. The golf part definitely needs some work doing though, very run down and dirty. Music was good, and the games were still good - it’s an easy place to come with friends, and the staff were nice otherwise!

We just had my daughter’s birthday here! It was amazing she had the best time with her and her friends! From the organising we had Luke who helped me throughout it all right up to the day before! Was amazing the 2 ladies there today I am sad I didn’t get their names as would love to put them down! But they were amazing and great customer service they went above and beyond today! Thanks guys and we have recommended you to all the parents and 2 have said they’re doing it there so that’s good! Well done and thank you for a fabulous day!

I went for a chill evening with a couple of my girl friends, spent a few hours there and had a fab time! Admittedly it was a week day so was probably why it wasn’t rammed, but was still a lot of fun! Keira served us basically the whole night and she was amazing! Made us feel welcome and was a lovely person. Good games, decent priced drinks and overall fun for not too bad of a price.

Raa Raa's Soft Play is a cozy and enjoyable spot for kids, offering a great time for little ones. The venue is perfect for birthday parties and drop-in play, with friendly staff and reasonably priced food options. The space is well-equipped with toys and activities, making it an ideal place to visit with toddlers. Although the facility is open only on certain days, it provides a positive experience for both kids and parents alike.
Fantastic venue for birthday parties and drop-in soft play. Perfect for looking after under 5s as it's all in one room. The staff are super friendly and they also serve food for kids and adults and tea/coffee

We spent nearly 3 hours here to escape the heat. It wasn't cool but it was a lot better than the 30° outside. Will definitely return. Staff were friendly and very welcoming. Food was good too. A large clean space for my 10 month old to crawl around in and explore in a much safer and bigger environment than our living room. Only thing I'd say is most of the electronic toys needed batteries replacing and some of them also looked a bit tired and broken. But plenty of other options to keep a 10 month old entertained for a while. Thanks

Nice little soft play, my Son had a great time! Only thing I would mention is, I didn't get the feeling anyone was really running the place, there was a very friendly lady working in the cafe area but I had to go up to her and mention that I had not paid yet, not a negative but thought I would mention it as some people might try to attend and not pay. Also, masks were not enforced for adults whilst they were up and about like every other soft play I've been to during the pandemic (im aware we are close to all restrictions going soon) but it was a slight concern as only myself and 1 other lady were wearing them. Overall, my Son had a fantastic time so,I'm happy!

My son had his 3rd birthday party here and had a fantastic time. Thank you so much. Katie did an amazing job of ensuring that it was effortless, organising and clearing up all the food and helping to cut and wrap up the cake. We couldn't have asked for more and would highly recommend it to anyone.
