The Belfry of Tournai, or Beffroi de Tournai, is a stunning medieval bell tower that stands proudly at 72 meters in the heart of Grand Place, Tournai, Belgium. Dating back to the 12th century, this architectural gem is not only the oldest belfry in Belgium but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors are invited to ascend its 257 steps for breathtaking panoramic views of the city and beyond.
$4 euro per person to climb about halfway up. Stairs only. Good 360 views of city and of bells.
Ricardo A — Google review
Only opens in the afternoon. Climbed a lot of stairs to reach the top for good views. This is the oldest belfry in belgium and symbolises the rise of the merchants and city
Anthony C — Google review
Stunning view of the city and great Art Market on Sunday near the bell tower and cathedral
Aaron K — Google review
For the small price of €1 you can climb on top and have the most beautiful view of tournai there imaginable. Watch out that your intended reservations should be done beforehand on the website. Nonetheless we got in by asking is the previous group came and if not if we could go instead.
Jean V — Google review
It was an overcast day. I did not go up the tower. There was not many people waiting to visit the tower in the morning.

Museums
The Museum of Fine Arts, designed by the renowned Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta, is a unique architectural gem built in 1928 on the site of the Abbey of Saint-Martin. Its distinctive design, resembling a turtle or flying squirrel, was a response to security concerns following the theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911. The museum houses an extensive collection of paintings and sculptures, with a focus on Medieval Flemish primitives and Impressionism.
Beautiful museum designed by Horta! Take time to fully enjoy each detail of the various paintings and sculptures. You can find Ensor, Verstraete, Finch, Monet, Manet.. Charlier.. and many more artists.

Yves M — Google review
small but nice, good location, minimum entrance fee, helpful staff, clean, not so many exponats, but still worth to see, comfortable, quiet, toilet available
Marek S — Google review
Not great. No atmosphere and not much to get excited about. Only one other visitor but my wife was stopped and asked to put her modest backpack into a locker requiring a 1 euro coin which we didn't have so we went round separately. A pity the man on the till didn't tell us. No information in English. Shan't rush back.
Andrew B — Google review
Unfortunately only parts of the ground floor was open - but really worth one hour of admiration of great art. Beautiful building by Horta.
Hans L — Google review
Small museum built by Victor Horta. Interesting works including a couple of Manet's. Ridiculously low entrance and it was free when we went - first Sunday of the month. Overall, very nice experience with courteous and knowledgeable staff.

Cathedral
Catholic church
The Cathedral of Notre-Dame of Tournai is a stunning Roman Catholic place of worship featuring five towers and medieval murals. Inside, visitors can admire paintings by Rubens and Jordaens, along with a 15th-century tapestry of Arras. The interior also boasts 700-year-old murals, a Renaissance pulpit, and a stained-glass 'rose window.'
The five towers of Tournai Cathedral appear like a prickly crown from a distance over the skyline of the city. From closer by, the contrast between the relatively sober and much older Romanesque halve, and the intricate and grander gothic half stand out immediately. Both architectural elements explain why this cathedral has become a UNESCO world heritage site, which, moreover, remains free to visit.
Emiel H — Google review
Visited from Brussels by car, very easy to reach. City centre parking was full, so I recommend parking just outside and walking in. The cathedral itself is stunning and well worth the trip. We came to Tournai just to see this UNESCO site, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended and it’s free to visit!
Shanti J — Google review
A stunning Cathedral, serving both as the House of God that it should be but also as a site of heritage for all to enjoy and appreciate. With numerous side chapels and information signs. It is accessible for all throughout. Symbolic of what was great about Christendom, beautiful gothic architecture, captivating art and all to the glory of God.
Richard P — Google review
We came to this town just for this unesco site. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Tournai is a stunning architectural masterpiece combining Romanesque and Gothic styles. Constructed primarily in the 12th and 13th centuries, it features five iconic bell towers, a spacious nave, and impressive stained glass windows. Inside, the treasury houses remarkable religious artifacts, adding to its historical significance.
Anthony C — Google review
Lovely Sunday service on July 21, followed by a celebration of Belgian Independence Day. Very friendly and welcoming to the services. Beautiful historic cathedral, highest recommendation ❤️
Valerie C — Google review
Most of the Quire was closed due to restoration, But we heard an amazing Organ voluntary and was given basically put own personal tour around the ground floor of the cathedral, it was amazing.
Benedict H — Google review
It was in the process of renovation so part of the church was open to the public. It is worth a visit because the old part of the church goes back to the 5th century.
Wendy L — Google review
Beautiful and underrated cathedral. Really short walk from the center square of the city, with a panoramic, bird's-eye view from the nearby Belfry. No large crowds of tourists, just emptiness and peace. The interior is also always open to enter and respectfully admire, and is quite beautiful.

The Musée de la Tapisserie de Tournai, housed in a beautiful Neoclassical townhouse, showcases astonishing historical tapestries from the 15th and 16th centuries known for their size and narrative richness. The museum also features modern textile art by artists from the 1940s to the present, such as Roger Somville, Edmond Dubrunfaut, and Louis Delfour.
Small museum with exquisite samples of old and modern tapestries. I stayed an hour just to admire the collection of 15th and 16th century's tapestries. The stories told through these masterpieces are detailed in available info-sheets.
Nikos P — Google review
Not what I expected, very few tapestries on show, about 15. All documents in French or Dutch. I wanted to see examples of old works and details about how they were made. Entry 6 euros, concessions 5 euros.
Alan ( — Google review
Marketed as a unique museum of tapestry & art textiles. There are 14 unique tapestries (stitches on canvas) & excellent, plus 4 others that are woven (warp & weft threads), very little else to see. Unless you speak French or Dutch don't bother, there are no translations & costs €6 admission. Very disappointing.
Gill C — Google review
This is a small museum dedicated to tapestries. From the plaque at the entrance to the museum, I was expecting exhibitions about tapestries in Tournai. It is, sort of. The museum exhibits a mixture of ancient and contemporary tapestries, plus some contemporary art. The three pretty much in equal parts. I was a little disappointed in that respect because it was more art than history. The antique tapestries were fantastic and tells the sometimes violent history of Wallonia, and were in remarkably good condition. The contemporary tapestries consisted mainly of an Marie Thumette Bruchard exhibition. Nice, but the themes were little too abstract for my personal tastes. There's very little information or description and virtually no English. I enjoyed the visit for the exhibits though. The museum was small enough to get through in 30 minutes, so the negatives were less of a hindrance. Had there been more information, of have given this museum an extra star.
Macedonboy — Google review
Very interesting museum, with a mix of old and new tapestries.
Cezar N — Google review
A really sweet gallery, it just needs more in its collection
Ryan K — Google review
Big disappointment. Flemish tapestries are such a fascinating phenomenon, and this place is just a random collection of unrelated pieces without any attempt to tell a story or engage the guests. It would be much better to place the Renaissance tapestries in the stunning Fine Arts Museum located next door, which is much more worth your visit!
Adam — Google review
a complete waste of a visit In this country and area of beautiful tapestries of many sorts and styles !!! this place managedt o have around ten beautiful historic tapestries that is all !!! it has a few so called modern works and one loom the display was sparce and very small typical of a public run organisation this building should be full of examples of tapestry through the ages with full explanations of how these tapestries are made this museum does not even begin to touch the surface of the subject and is completely underwhelming !!

Maison Tournaisienne is a museum housed in a 17th-century building, offering an immersive experience into the lives of Tournai's inhabitants from various social strata. The exhibits cover the city's diverse trades, featuring recreated workshops for weavers, potters, and printers. Visitors can explore folklore memorabilia dating back centuries, showcasing the lives of both rich and poor, artisans, and local workers.
Excellent museum! We popped in briefly and wish we could have stayed all day. Warm, friendly and memorable. There are QR codes that can be scanned for English translations. I particularly liked the well dressed mannequins - it felt like they could be alive :-)

Excellent local museum to introduce one into folk history. The staff is extremely kind to lead us through the ancient entertainment section and teach us how to play all the interesting games. Big appreciate!! Unlike the modern video games, to feel those wooden toys physically is really a joy that I can't help but repeat some games myself several times. Some collections from local people are phenomenon that I never see before. A true hidden gym for anyone interested in history to explore.
Lyon C — Google review
Very interesting museum with tons of objects that relate to the life of people in the town and region. There is no coherent story told by the museum exhibitions, so a lot to take in when you examine everything. Very cheap access, worth it. Only in French for displays, but other languages mentioned at entry as well.

An amazing museum with a very rich exposition. Tge staff are extremely nice and welcoming. When you enter you have the impression that it is very small but that is definitely not the case. The remarkable Église catholique Saint-Jacques à Tournai, an old church that survived the ravages of the Middle Ages and the Reformation, stands as a testament to its turbulent past. Devoid of statues and furniture, except for a solitary half-statue hidden within its walls, this stripped-down structure exudes an awe-inspiring atmosphere with its exposed stones and exceptional acoustics.
Beautiful church in the centre of Tournai. It makes a beautiful combination of Gothic neoGothic and Roman styles. Given the name of the church it is quite easy to know on which way it lies.
Jean V — Google review
Église Saint-Jacques de Tournai or Saint James Church is a historically important church in Wallonia that was part of the pilgrimage routes of Santiago de Compostela. The current building dates back to the end of the 12th century and is a mixture of Gothic and Romanesque. Almost monumental in scale, sadly time has taken its toll on the building. What remains of the stained glass windows are amazing, but there’s little left save for the ones behind the high altar and on both ends of the transept. The stained glass behind the altar shown scenes from the life of the apostles, very Gothic, tall and mighty. The rose windows of the left transept is exceptionally beautiful, depicting the Virgin with the infant Jesus at the centre, surrounded by angels. Sadly, there’s not much else worth seeing in the church save perhaps for the scenes of the crucifixion and passion. It’s worth a stop if you have time though.
Macedonboy — Google review
Impressive once you know what (not) to see! Old (still used) church, fully ravaged in the middle ages during the reformation, remained as it was. All statues and furniture are gone, one small half-statue is left to be found, hidden (seek), though ravaged (see picture). Impressive environment, stripped naked stones, what a great acoustics. If you (also) go visit the popular 'cathedral' (the 5 towers, also near the grand place),... first come to see this impressive (in it's nakedness) old churh,... than, and only than, go visit that cathedral in the city that gave birth to France (Clovis) and realize that it once was as looted and naked as this icone of human madness.

(Translated by Google) A magnificent 13th-century church, a 5-minute walk from Tournai's Grand Place. With its Gothic-style architecture, the building houses true treasures. Among them, you'll find a high altar adorned with a sublime altarpiece, splendid vaults, and a brass eagle lectern dating from 1411. Its name is said to come from the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, as the city was a stopover on the route from Brussels to Paris. Nestled just a couple of kilometers north of Grand Place in Tournai, Jungle City - Amusement Park is a vibrant haven designed specifically for children up to 13 years old. Spanning over 2,500 square meters, this adventure park boasts an array of attractions including climbing frames, thrilling rides like roller coasters and Super Splash, as well as glow-in-the-dark mini golf and a delightful petting zoo.
Jungle City is a true paradise for children. At the entrance, the kids are measured, as many of the rides have a minimum height requirement. From 90 cm onwards, the real fun begins, but even smaller children can enjoy themselves. Even our youngest had a great afternoon there. All the rides seemed to be in excellent technical condition and brought a lot of joy to the children. Even on the weekend, the queues were short enough that the kids could go on rides almost without waiting. However, there aren’t many shaded areas, so on warm and sunny days, it’s important to make sure the children drink enough and wear caps. The park also includes an indoor playground, so even in bad weather, it’s definitely worth a visit. There is also a restaurant on-site that serves typical fast food dishes and menus. We had a really lovely afternoon there, and the kids are still talking about it today!

Nice getaway for kids from 3 to 10 years old! Nice African vibe but do not go on a hot day or u´ll melt away... not long waiting links, kids can´t get lost. Also indoor climbing track on the ceiling. My kids of 7 and 9 had a blast. As a parent u can take it easy, not walking far.. kind staff and clean toilet. U can eat there 2.

Visited in the halloween period, really nice decorations, we were welcomed at the entrance by animators in pretty cool costumes, there were many free activities included in the normal ticket price: face painting, different contests etc. And still the place was not really crowded.
Raluca G — Google review
I give 3 stars because the restaurant food is not okay , i have ordered crunchy burgers but it was like cooked more than one time it was not fresh and very dirty. I hope they make good quality food..
Nael F — Google review
Positives: - Nice and friendly staff. - Good attractions for children. Negatives: - A lot of empty animal pens/holdings. - Far too few rides and generally far too many people. It can become claustrophobic and the five main rides become inundated l, making it nigh on possible for you to utilise, unless you are comfortable with long waits. - The pricing does not really reflect the offer in my opinion. The caveat to the above is however that if you were to attend when there are less numbers, it could be an enjoyable few hours. But as far as I have seen and heard is that the oversubscribed nature is common place.

(Translated by Google) First visit this March 23, 2025, at the 4:30 p.m. session...and the rink ended at 6:45 p.m., so a 2-hour 15-minute session, which is relatively adequate, as I find it sufficient for one session. There were about 10 of us on the rink, and frankly, it was super enjoyable; the rink is quite wide and long. The rink is very smooth, with no holes. The downside is the surface water. For beginners, children, or daredevils (like me), you get wet very quickly, and that can be unpleasant for some people. There's not enough space along the rink to rest for a few moments. Apart from that, I found it pretty decent overall. I didn't visit the cafeteria, but the reception area is quite nice. The staff were very welcoming and professional. I would definitely come back, even if it's not close to my home.

(Translated by Google) Very nice skating rink with pleasant welcome, attentive managers and very professional and very helpful! If you need advice, just ask them! The price is largely acceptable 😁 The ice is very clean and smooth, there are no puddles as I read in some reviews and the condition of the rink is very clean! (ice hygiene and others) everything is clean. I highly recommend the ice rink to anyone who wants to venture there!!

(Translated by Google) I have never seen such a disgusting games room, the toilets are never cleaned, smoking room without ventilation, full of Romanians watching everyone, not to mention certain customers who think they are at home going behind all the machines, no winnings, the staff not polite apart from one young man, narrow games area it feels like a bus, so rotten that everyone comes in without an identity card in short the most rotten and dirty one I have was, (Original) J'ai jamais vus une salle de jeux aussi dégueulasse, les toilettes sont jamais nettoyer ,fumoir sans aération, pleins de roumains qui surveille tout le monde, sans parler de certains clients qui se croit chez eux passe derrière toute les machines, aucun gains, le personnels pas poli mis à part un jeune homme , espace de jeux étroit on se croirait dans un bus ,tellement pourri que tout le monde rentre sans carte d'identité bref le plus pourri et sale que j'ai était ,

(Translated by Google) The owner does not respect the needs of the customers, when it is 20 degrees outside the room becomes a furnace, then when it is higher it is stifling, several 6 reported but nothing helps, an air conditioning goes directly to a spinner so when the player is not happy we prefer to turn off the air conditioning, no air renewal, and when we come out we stink of cigarettes.
