Cetinje Monastery is a significant Christian Orthodox site in Montenegro, built in 1704 on medieval ruins. Located in the heart of Cetinje, this monastery holds sacred relics and serves as the seat of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro. As the former capital of Montenegro, Cetinje boasts rich history and cultural attractions, including the Mausoleum of Prince Danilo and The Royal Theater Zetski dom.
There is not much access but it is still a beautiful and spiritual place to visit and in my opinion, very worthwhile to check out. Some beautiful icons in the chapel that you are allowed to visit. There are no photos allowed.

After lunch we arrived to Cetinje Monastery and hanged around. It’s interesting indeed and the nature around is worth all hours we drove. Impressive construction
Shukhrat U — Google review
🌿✨ A Sacred Pause in Montenegro’s Heart Cetinje Monastery isn’t just a stop on the map—it’s a breath of stillness wrapped in white stone and centuries of devotion. Nestled in the historic town of Cetinje, this Orthodox sanctuary holds relics that stir the soul: the right hand of John the Baptist, fragments of the Holy Cross, and the remains of Saint Peter of Cetinje. Even if you’re not religious, the atmosphere invites quiet reflection. The icons glow softly in the chapel, and though photography is forbidden inside, the memory lingers like incense. Modest clothing is required—this is a living place of worship, not just a tourist site. I arrived after lunch, and the surrounding nature made the drive worthwhile. The monastery opens daily at 8 AM, and entry is free—a rare gift in a world of ticketed experiences. 🕊️ Whether you’re chasing history, spirituality, or simply a moment of peace, Cetinje Monastery offers all three.
Laurence H — Google review
Cetinje Monastery is a fascinating and historically rich site, and I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area. The monastery holds significant cultural and religious importance in Montenegro, and walking through its grounds offers a glimpse into the country’s deep-rooted heritage. The architecture is beautiful and well-preserved, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a great place for reflection. Inside, you can find sacred relics and valuable artifacts that speak to the monastery’s long history. While the site itself is not very large, it’s still worth a visit, especially for those interested in history and spirituality. The surrounding town of Cetinje also has a charming, old-world feel, making it a great place to explore before or after your visit to the monastery. Overall, Cetinje Monastery is a must-see if you’re nearby, and it’s a great stop to understand more about Montenegro’s cultural and religious past.
Alex S — Google review
From a tourist’s perspective, it’s interesting to see how the monastery functions. There are also monks living inside, and you can talk with them. They have certain rules about covering up: if you’re wearing shorts, they will give you a cloth to tie around your waist so you can enter and explore the monastery
El B — Google review
Looks beautiful from the outside. Since it’s a place of worship, modest clothing is required. Unfortunately, I couldn’t enter because my outfit wasn’t appropriate.
Hilal A — Google review
This monastery is a very beautiful and serene place, definitely worth a visit. Please note that it's a religious site, so you'll be asked to dress modestly, avoid carrying cameras, and refrain from smoking. Inside, there's a souvenir shop where you can purchase mementos.
Mohamed A — Google review
It looks fantastic. You can get inside, but you should be respectful and do not disturb the monks

The National Museum of Montenegro is a vast complex with five departments showcasing historical, cultural, and art exhibits. It also houses art galleries and offers an interesting collection of artworks that shed light on the country's cultural heritage. The museum provides an opportunity to explore the history of Montenegro through various exhibitions. Additionally, visitors can venture into the majestic Lovcen National Park, which is home to diverse landscapes and endemic plant and animal species. The park offers hiking and cycling trails for nature enthusiasts.
Finally managed to find a museum in this country. It was worth travelling to this city just for the museum. €3 entrance is worth it. The 1900's history is more interesting as there's more than just old coins and flags to look at. Glad to learn more about the Montenegrin identity, especially through the conversation I had with the museum guide who helped me better understand why Montenegro is an ecological state. Thank you for an enlightening conversation and I do hope that Montenegro will do its best to protect its beautiful nature, the beaches and the sea as much as it is willing to protect the mountains. Tourists will still come, just a better and more respectful bunch who can appreciate this beautiful country. The building is nice, the courtyard should be opened to paid visitors too.

Historical mesuem is temporarily CLOSE at the moment for at least 5 year according to a staff here. This building locate both historial and fine art mesuem, the former one is currently under renewation, fine art museum is operating as usual. I missed to check with the offical website, came here all the way just seeing the info for google map abt National Museum😭 Hope that not happen to you. The staff I met today is nice, will to speck English, informaive.

According to 10/2025 Its close for renewal, the lady at the counter was very nice, and told us that it will take approximately 10 years! But pay attention! The art museum in the same building is open. The gallery is not so big, but there are nice painting. The main object is "The lady of philermos" a rare icon of maria.
Shahar K — Google review
For a museum it is beautiful, and really interesting. For a national museum it is pretty disappointing. It shows a lot of Archaeological findings, tells the story of the history of the countery. It is a little bit confusing, and jumps through different times very frequently

The Ethnographic Museum of Montenegro is part of the National Museum located in Cetinje, Montenegro's Old Royal Capital. It is one of four museums within the complex, showcasing a diverse range of exhibits. The museum offers insights into Montenegrin heritage through its displays, including artifacts and cultural items. Visitors can also explore the Art Museum with works by renowned artists like Dali and Picasso.
Amazing little gem of a museum with a very interesting exhibition on the traditional life and customs in the rural Montenegro. Invested one hour here while waiting on my bus departure and it was a convenient time span for seeing all exhibits and reading all of the accompanying texts. One clearly should've seen this museum during his or her stay here in Cetinje in my opinion!
TheGeorg278 — Google review
Ethnography museums are my favourite types of museums. I love to learn about the cultures, customs, beliefs and living conditions of people centuries ago. This is a good little museum, I was pleased to see information boards throughout and exhibits labelled. Why only three stars? I can only compare to the many Ethnographic museums I visited around the World which are so much bigger and cover many more aspects of historic culture.
Miles M — Google review
Really nice small museum, everything described also in English, totally worth visiting.
Anda I — Google review
Small museum with some well preserved pieces. The admission includes an audio guide on your own phone via app. Good stop for half an hour to an hour in Cetinje.
Kaya W — Google review
Interesting and worth a visit, although nothing super special. The top floor is probably the best, with some impressive old folk costumes, guns and swords etc. Unlike many museums there is good labelling in English.
Stephen P — Google review
Small but nice museum. Would love to see more interactive parts of the exhibition but that would be difficult given the size
Nikita P — Google review
Fabulous little museum. See it with King Nick’s next door. Both terrific. Everything here was interesting. The costumes displays are fascinating and beautiful
Jeremy K — Google review
What a cute little museum. Great examples of clothing, fibers, households. Not huge, but the second floor is a gem of historical and regional garments. Worthwhile stop in center of town. Only negative is the lingering smell of cigarette smoke throughout the building.

The King Nicholas Museum, located in Cetinje, offers a captivating glimpse into Montenegrin life during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum showcases original items, rural townhouse interiors, and traditional folk costumes. It also features an array of historical artifacts such as weaponry, clothing, coins, paintings, portraits, personal items, dinnerware and furniture from that era.
Nice lady at reception who wants you to see everything Cetinje has to offer. If you get the combo ticket which includes the Njegos Mausoleum, you’ll get a great deal. remember to download the audio guide as an app before starting the tour. Library was no where to be seen but everything else was nice. Last entry is at 4pm.
Honest Y — Google review
I visited the museum on a Friday, and it was pleasantly quiet with not much of a crowd. The entry fee is 8 euros. They offer an app for an audio tour, which I would recommend downloading to enhance your visit. Whether it's worth the 8 euros is debatable, but if you find yourself nearby, it's still worth checking out.
Mohamed A — Google review
If you are planning to visit all the museums in Cetinje, buy the combo ticket. It will save you some money doing that. The Museum of King Nikola is a small-ish museum, but well preserved. The lady who works at the ticket counter was very helpful. They have a problem with the electricity on the day of our visit, and the toilet is closed. They have an audio guide in several languages that you can download after buying the ticket. It gives you a good overview of what's being displayed and the history behind them. If you are already making it to Cetinje, then absolutely pay a visit, if not. I think you are not missing too much. I will not go to Cetinje just to visit the museum, but since we are in the area we went, and we had a good time.
Tabi H — Google review
A small, but well preserved and curated museum about King Nikola and his family. You get an audio guide with the ticket and unless there’s a group tour you’ll be pretty much alone. You are not allowed to take pictures inside. There are many more rooms than are currently open to the public. The toilet was still broken when we went there (mentioned in a review 3 months ago). The building is also currently being renovated on the outside and is wrapped in scaffolding.
Kaya W — Google review
If you're in Cetinje, you've absolutely got to check out King Nikola's Museum. It’s sat right on Dvorski Trg, which is just a lovely spot. The whole square is surrounded by grand old buildings and has a really nice, chilled-out vibe.

Ostrog Orthodox Monastery, dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog, is a 17th-century pilgrimage site in Montenegro. It was rebuilt in the 1920s and is visited by pilgrims, religious tourists, and travelers who come to pay homage to the miraculous relics of St. Vasilije of Ostrog. The monastery is perched on a cliff face 900m above the Zeta valley, making it a unique and spiritually significant location for Orthodox Christians.
This is incredible and breathtaking place. While you drive up to the rocks you do t see monastery at all - you will see it as you arrive your destination. This place is so different and sacred and you feel like Holy Ghost is near you, at least I felt very special and unique there don’t know why. This place has something it is magical
Anna D — Google review
I know that everyone is going for a different problems they might face, whether is health or other issues. But the negativity the people are bringing is just not right. We are all there to find out peace. I have to say at the moments I did. I enjoyed my barefoot walking on the stairs from the parking to the monastery. At the monastery as well. But I had to isolate mentally in order to find the peace. The people are yelling and annoyed by everything. Like, all right people, we are all waiting in line for the same purpose, that's why we are there. There is no need to skipping the line and playing smart. Regarding the sleeping, yes it is on the ground and there are a lot, but a lot of blankets enough for everyone. Don't grab it, don't push it. There is no your space or my space for sleeping. It is open for everyone and It is just a corner where you need to calm and huddle and nap, you are not in a hotel there to sleep in luxury and take the whole space. But intolerance was way over the head to many people, even to the guards that are working there which are constantly yelling. It doesn't matter if there are many people or not every day, respect to each other, helping around, navigating and maybe creating some rules might help. Paint some lines for sleeping, where people need to make open space to the toilet or the water, because skipping on the blankets makes them mad. And please oh please clean those toilets. The toilets are so far away, but the container trash is so close that people are practically sleeping in front of them. It is a holy place, I would love to go again, maybe at different period of the year (definitely not summer again)
Martina D — Google review
you are in the area, I definitely recommend a visit. It’s best to go early in the morning, as it gets very crowded later on. There are two parking areas available – one at the base and another higher up for cars. The place itself is beautiful and has a spiritual atmosphere, though it can get quite busy with many visitors.
El B — Google review
Beautiful and authentic monastery. Half an hour is enough to look around. No caffe or restaurant there, probably because it's an active monastery. A shop with icons, crosses and other religions staff as well as some souvenirs is present on site. Road to it is quite slippery due to a lot of stones in asphalt mass - be careful especially if road wet.
Alex S — Google review
Interesting place to visit. Neat how they've perfectly blended in the building into the rocks. Looking at the amount of parking places around here and the waiting line structures at the entrance it can get crazy busy. When we were here end of October nobody was here. If the barrier to the last segment is open, you can just drive through it and park your car right in front of this place for free. Quite a few parking places there. We started by parking at the last official parking lot before the barriers at first, but from there it's still quite a climb to get to this monastery so we turned around and decided to drive all the way up, which was perfectly fine. The views over the valley are nice. Not much to see other than that. You can get inside some rooms of the building, but it's not that interesting. If you don't hold a religious relationship with this place, it's nice for a quick visit, but otherwise, especially when it's busy, I would say skip it.
Koen Z — Google review
A beautiful monastery in the middle of a mountain. The walk up is a big one and i would definitely recommend bringing water and good shoes on a hot day. We waited for about 10 minutes to get into the monastery itself and we had to wear a little piece of clothing to cover our knees. It more than worth it to visit this place!
Marijn P — Google review
A trip to Montenegro should include a visit to this incredible Monastery. Many go as a Pilgrimage, but no matter why you choose to visit, it's can experience not to miss. There are a couple parking lots. The upper lot is the best option, but still requires over 150 steps to climb.
Debbie F — Google review
The place is a must visit regardless of your religious beliefs. For those who believe - it's considered the most sacred place in Montenegro and probably one of the most visited for the pilgrimage in the entire Balkans. For those who not too much in religion - the monastery was built in the vertical cliff high in the mountains in the 17th century. Not the everyday sight, isn't it? The place is well known for the miracles happening there. Those who come there for the pilgrimage walk 3000 steps upstairs barefoot. Those who come just to see can drive up the slope and walk the remaining part from the parking lot along the zigzag road or take the same steps. Cars with disabled persons or small babies can drive up to the top straight to the monastery. The views from the top are stunning and tend to set you to the meditation. Those who believe can enter the small chapel with 17th frescoes and approach the remains of Saint Basil of Ostrog, pray, get the blessing, it's a very peaceful and blessing place.

Billiard Palace, also known as Biljarda, is a museum in Cetinje, Montenegro that was once the residence of Peter II Petrovic Njegos, a prominent poet and philosopher. Built in 1838 with Russian financing, it housed Montenegro's first billiard table. The museum displays Njegos' personal belongings including his library and manuscripts. Visitors can explore military costumes, photos of soldiers, and exquisitely decorated weapons on the bottom floor.
Nice museum with a low entrance fee of €5 to get to know more about Montenegro's history. There are lots of paintings, weapons, and old objects like coins. The entrance also grants you access to the Relief Map of Montenegro, which is quite cool to see.
Bart B — Google review
There is plenty to see here with the upper floor showcasing details and many items relating to this famous man's life. You do get a leaflet (English in my case) giving an overview of the contents of each room but you have to give this back when you leave. I've only given three stars because I think more could be done in presenting this collection. As with the Ethnographic museum I would like to see information boards and item descriptions in each room, perhaps even an audio guide. As for the ground floor collection of generic items relating to this period, there is no information at all. I did enjoy the 3D model (Relief) of Montenegro housed in a seperate building which you're guided to at the end of your visit.
Miles M — Google review
We had a good time strolling around various collections, paintings, and items from an important figure and family for Montenegro's history. the very friendly curator miss. Absolutely wonderful museum. So much to learn about the history of Montenegro through a broad range of exhibits with good English text. Clothing, furniture, weapons, books, paintings and of course the billiard table — and that’s only the upper level dedicated to Njegos and his family. (A real highlight is all the beautiful paintings done over more than 40 years by Pero Pocek, a famous Montenegrin painter.) Then the lower level is a walk through the ethnographic history of the country, with fascinating exhibits primarily focused on household items and clothing. The huge relief map of Montenegro is also very interesting. While the museum itself is well worth seeing, my visit was made even more special by the excellent information provided by Natasha Markovic who took the time to explain so much to me about the history and culture of Montenegro and to talk to me about many of the exhibits. This was truly one of the best museum experiences I’ve had during 6 weeks in the Balkans and I highly recommend a visit!

The Church of St. Mary Collegiate, dating back to the 13th century, is a significant religious site in Kotor's Old Town. It was constructed on the foundation of an ancient Christian church and features alternating rows of delicate pink and grey stone. The church also boasts a beautiful tall Bell Tower that can be seen from outside the fortress walls. Visitors can explore its interior for a fee, which grants access to medieval and Renaissance religious artifacts within the museum.
The entrance to the museum costs 4€. At first we wouldn't pay for it, but then we read a comment here that persuaded us, that that is a good use of money. I haven't regretted this, as there is really something to see, especially if you are interested in Medieval and Renaissance history of religion.

The Museum of the City of Budva is a four-story museum showcasing collections from the 5th century BC to the present day, including artifacts from Byzantine, Roman, and later eras. The exhibits feature items such as Hellenistic artifacts, glass burial urns, and ancient stone plates with inscriptions. The museum also houses the symbol of the city - two connected fish representing Marko and Elena in love.
The Budva City Museum in the old quarter of Budva, Montenegro, showcases archaeological and ethnographic artifacts on four floors. An early 5th century BC Illyrian-Greek helmet in the museum has paragnathids on either side of the helmet to protect the face and neck of the wearer. A Roman mosaic at the museum depicts a sea creature.

Visiting the museum in the Old Town of Budva offers a few interesting moments, but overall, the experience is rather modest. Inside, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Budva, which is probably the most attractive part of the visit. The library is rich, with a solid collection of books, but other than that, there aren’t many significant exhibits in the museum. There are a few items that are interesting, but not impressive enough to justify the visit. Outside the museum, you can see the remains of an old church, but again, not enough to make the experience special. The entrance fee was 5€.
Eldar M — Google review
Plenty of artifacts to see here spread across four floors. But I downgraded by one star because of the grumpy woman at reception who wouldn't accept any 10 or 20 cent coins when paying the €3 entry fee. Exhibits are arranged by chronological period eg. Hellenistic period 3rd to 2nd Century BC, Roman period 1st to 3rd Century AD etc. Items include ceramics, glassware, jewellery, weapons etc. The top floor showcases Ethnographic urban life during 16th to 19th Century.
Miles M — Google review
V very small three story building containing archeological findings from the city and surrounding area, as well as several pieces from the more recent past. Make sure you have a mobile data connection before you go in, there are three VR stations inside the museum. For only 3€ per ticket you can't go wrong here.
Kaya W — Google review
Nice small museum, to see everything you need max 20 minutes. For a 3€ entrance fee, it was worth it.
Matúš — Google review
The museum, located in the old town, has an entrance fee of €5 and no wait time. It's quite small, and in my opinion, there isn't much to see. I finished touring the entire museum in about 10 minutes.
E I — Google review
I recently visited the Budva City Museum and was genuinely impressed! The museum is beautifully housed in a historic building right in the heart of Budva Old Town, making it easy to find while exploring. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged over several floors, showcasing fascinating artifacts from Roman, Byzantine, and local history. I especially enjoyed the ancient jewelry and detailed mosaics — each piece tells a story of Budva’s rich cultural heritage. The information panels are clear and available in multiple languages, which made the visit very accessible. The atmosphere is calm and perfect for anyone interested in history or just wanting to learn more about this charming coastal town. It took me about an hour to see everything at a relaxed pace. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Budva — a great way to connect with the city’s past!

Discover the captivating world of contemporary art at Jovo Ivanovic Modern Gallery, located in the charming old town of Budva. Established in 1972, this small yet vibrant gallery showcases a diverse collection of paintings, drawings, engravings, and sculptures primarily from Montenegro and former Yugoslavian artists. The gallery offers a unique cultural experience with its innovative artworks that tell compelling stories and evoke creativity.
Savo Pavlovic exhibition - beautiful watercolors! A lovely little gallery hidden away in old town. Very nice space and friendly staff. Not touristy (and free!) The current exhibition runs until September 22 2019.
Nicola — Google review
I am very unhappy with the very bad organisation of the event: 1-they put posts on the walls of the old town with no mention of the year of the event (joint pic for the event missed) 2-they put a message to contact Tatyana on telegram whereas nobody can contact her if the doesn’t have his/her contacts (!) (joint pic as proof of telegram unable to contact her) 3-an English speaking local had me explain the situation (asking to know if the event is happening on 2023) called Tatyana on the 27th of august 2023 and Tatyana said she was new and that she didn’t know about the concert. She asked us to call her again in order for us to get the right information. So then we called her and she told us that the event was postponed to the 29th of august 2023! We went on the 29th to attend the Yiddish music event and you know what? We attended a classical/opera show so not the one I asked about. Well I’m met with many disorganised people but this is a level I’ve never seen before in 40 countries I’ve visited even though all explanations have been obtained in the local language. Very angry and upset with this considerable lack of efforts and coordination!!!

The Relief of Montenegro is an impressive map that vividly showcases the mountainous terrain of Montenegro. This large-scale map allows visitors to easily identify and appreciate the various cities within the country. Housed in a glass room, this remarkable display can be viewed by purchasing tickets for the adjacent museum. Accessible only to museum-goers, it offers a unique perspective on Montenegro's topography.
Cool map which makes you realise how mountaineous Montenegro is. It's cool that you can see the actual cities and pick them out. The map is very big and located in a hot glass room. If you want to visit it, you should simply buy tickets for the museum next door. It's behind closed doors and inaccessible without a museum ticket.
Bart B — Google review
Interesting but not really worth a visit in my opinion although I'm generally keen on maps and geography. It looks loveless and colourless, details are not precise, there is no good orientation on the map as location name tags are missing, and from the platform you cannot see all areas from close.

(Translated by Google) The map was made in 1916, an amazing job was done. My family and I traveled a lot around Montenegro, and it was very interesting for us to examine the places we visited in detail in the relief, to compare the past and the present, to understand the scale of the mountainous and flat areas. I began to imagine the places we travel much better.

Park
Lovćen National Park, established in 1952, spans 6,220 hectares and is home to the mausoleum of Montenegro's revered leader and poet Petar II Petrovic Njegos. The park boasts the Stirovnik peak at 1,749 meters and Lake Peak (Jezerski Vrh) at 1,767 meters. It offers a variety of hiking and cycling trails that lead through diverse landscapes including dense forests and dramatic mountain peaks.
Very beautiful park that offers the most stunning views of Montenegro, with endless mountains and forests to explore. The entrance fee to the park is 3€ and there is also an additional 8€ fee to visit the mausoleum and the observation deck, where you can enjoy breathtaking views.
Kristina K — Google review
Beautiful viewpoint high above Koror. We rode the cable car to the top for 23 euro round trip per person. From their we hired a round trip transfer to the mausoleum for 30 euro and the cost to enter was 8 euro each.
Briant A — Google review
Worth the drive to get there. For North Americans the drive up can be abit harrowing at times as the road is narrow and there are countless switchbacks. On the way down I had to back up to let a bus by but the views are spectacular. The highlight of Montenegro for us.
Dany G — Google review
Stunning views on the coastal drive up - you can see Kotor and the coast - spectacular! The road is narrow and zigzags so would only suggest driving up if you’re a confident driver. 3 euros per person to enter the national park. We had a nice cup of tea and cake at the restaurant on the mountain top. We visited beginning of October and it was extremely cold…4 degrees and it started snowing so do wrap up! Definitely worth a visit though
Samantha H — Google review
A beautiful park with some nice treks. We did the circular trail from ivanova korita to the peak of bavina glavna and it was very nice. 10 km overall, walking through beech forrest, some nice trails overlooking the bay from tivat all the way to sveti stefan.
Tomer A — Google review
Okay, so if you're ever in Montenegro, you absolutely HAVE to check out Lovcen park! Seriously, the views from up there are just unreal, like something out of a movie. There's so much to see and do, from hiking to exploring the history. Plus, the air is super fresh and clean, which is always a bonus! Trust me, it's an amazing experience you won't regret.
Ilia L — Google review
It's a stunning AND scary drive up. Make sure to leave early to avoid the rush if cruise ship tour buses that go up the hill around 9/10am. Leaving around 8am from Kotor is best. Great views of Kotor bay and small rural towns nearby. The masuleum is very impressive.

There is a parking lot just below the peak. I stayed there for two nights in the camper van without any problem. Very nice place with lots of stars at night, with a good view during the day. I paid 3 euros for the entrance of national park.

Lipa Cave is a prominent natural wonder located in Lovcen National Park, Montenegro. It offers 1.6 miles of passages adorned with stunning stalagmites and stalactites, creating an otherworldly atmosphere for visitors to explore. The park itself is a breathtaking expanse of pristine nature, featuring diverse landscapes from dense forests to dramatic mountain peaks, making it perfect for hiking and cycling enthusiasts.
Very great experience, if you've never visited caves before. Do take clothes with you, cause it's quite cold inside, about 10 degrees Celcium. You will be guided by personal with great English.
Dmitri S — Google review
Such an enjoyable trip, you go down on a small train to the cave and then walk through. Really knowledgeable guide took us around. Very interesting and beautiful place. Whole tour takes about an hour. It's cold in the cave, around 10 degrees so take warm clothes.
Tim H — Google review
The cave complex includes a nice visitor’s center with a cafe and large outdoor terrace, where guests wait for their tour time. A small shuttle then takes approximately 50 people at a time to the caves themselves. The tour is guided and provides a history of the caves, geology, and some interesting notes. The tour itself is approximately 45 minutes. The caves have a well-maintained concrete trail, and the lighting is good. The caves are similar to others of their kind around the world, but nonetheless, worthwhile. The nearby town of Cetinje is also worth exploring and is a good spot for a meal either before or after the tour.
DeVere K — Google review
A very nice stalgamate cave. A tour departs from the information center every so often and includes a cute road train ride of 5 minutes to the cave and another hour or so inside There's an informative guide detailing the history of the cave and other information.
Tomer A — Google review
A short (1 hour long) guided tour inside the cave is definitely worth it. This is one of the most well maintained caves I've been into. A jacket or sweater is highly recommended as it's between 8-12° C year around. Tickets purchased upon arrival.
Debbie F — Google review
Unforgettable experience, a total must visit when staying in Montenegro. We were with a 3,8 years old toddler and that was an exciting and safe experience for our whole family. Important thing - check the hours since the visit happens only on the group trip, which happens every 15-30 mins during the summer season. Also they offer more adventurous tours for adults and 5+ kids, which I am sure are worth of it. In this case request and booking in advance should be done via email.
Anastasiya L — Google review
Very nice and interesting tour, definitely worth it. Check on the cave webpage for tour start hours and prices (we paid 15,9€ per person) and make sure you arrive early enough to catch a train that drives you to the cave entrance. It's 45min guided tour. Make sure to bring something worm with you since inside temperature is around 10 degrees.
Tilen Š — Google review
Well designed pathing without being too intrusive to the natural environment. Would be better if people behaved (as in no touching of the delicate stalactites and stalagmites, no yelling, being quiet when the guide is explaining, etc.). The guide was new but had all the facts about the cave and was able to answer more specific questions too. Worth the money.

The Budva Riviera is a stunning destination that offers a mix of natural beauty and vibrant entertainment. The Sea Dance Festival at Buljarica beach is a major highlight, featuring performances by renowned artists like David Guetta, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Robin Schulz, and Offenbach.
Nice area, with the old town, but also lots of high rise new luxury apartments and hotels. A few nice beaches. Parking is difficult near the beach as dominated by private hotels.
Tim H — Google review
I wouldn't describe the beach as particularly beautiful, the sand is quite coarse and it gets very busy. However there are plenty of facilities along the Riviera, restaurants, showers, and a variety of private zones with sun loungers ranging in comfort and price from €15 to a staggering €40. But the most expensive ones are like comfy beds with thick back adjustable mattresses. There are several public (free) zones, easy to identify because people bring their own beach mats and parasols.
Miles M — Google review
A beautiful place for holidays and relaxation. Good availability of services and clean sea.
Jan K — Google review
Budva riviera is amazing. It’s a happening coastline. We enjoyed it more than Kotor . During nighttime it’s even more happening with cultural shows , lights and amazing food
Swati S — Google review
Nice beach but surrounding area is a mess. Huge construction works with a lot of noise and dirt. Nice parks and houses but styles are mixed and cleanliness is not always there.
Károly P — Google review
The beach alone is nothing spectacular but the vibe is so authentic; the food at the local restaurants - phenomenal; the prices are not too bad off the season! Definitely one of my favorite spots in Europe
Julian M — Google review
Nice little old town with narrow streets and various stores.
Iulian C — Google review
I would not recommend this beach at all. No one seems to be making any effort to keep the beach clean apart from a small number of restaurant owners. There’s litter but also stuff has been dumped for many weeks. There are many run down areas & graffiti. There is clearly £m’s being invested in new hotels in this town but the tourists will want a decent beach.

Kotor Old Town is a place that transports you to the Middle Ages with its well-preserved historical architecture and charming atmosphere. The area is filled with old buildings where you can sense the lived experiences of the past. When visiting Kotor, getting lost in its narrow alleys, admiring the design shops, small cafes, and churches is a must. The town offers a wonderful view and an opportunity to immerse yourself in its undeniable charm and rich history.
The Old Town of Kotor is an enchanting labyrinth of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery, nestled within the imposing medieval city walls that stand proudly against the rugged backdrop of Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a true gem of the Adriatic, offering visitors a rare blend of Venetian architecture, narrow winding streets, and a palpable sense of timelessness that transports you back centuries. Stepping through one of the fortified gates, you immediately find yourself immersed in a maze of cobblestone alleys, hidden piazzas, and charming stone buildings with red-tiled roofs, each telling stories of a rich past shaped by Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman influences. The Old Town feels like a living museum where every corner is steeped in history and artistry. At the heart of the town lies St. Tryphon Cathedral, an exquisite Romanesque masterpiece dating back to the 12th century. Its twin bell towers and intricate facade command attention, while inside, the cathedral houses beautiful frescoes and relics that reveal the spiritual and artistic heritage of the region. Nearby, the Maritime Museum offers fascinating insight into Kotor’s seafaring legacy, showcasing ship models, navigational instruments, and historical artifacts that reflect the town’s vital role as a maritime hub over the centuries. What makes Kotor’s Old Town truly special is its harmonious blend of grandeur and intimacy. The main squares—such as Trg od Oružja (Arms Square) and Trg Sv. Luke—buzz with local life, filled with quaint cafés, artisan shops, and vibrant markets where you can sample regional delicacies or browse handcrafted souvenirs. Yet just a few steps away, the narrow backstreets offer peaceful solitude, shaded by ivy-draped walls and dotted with hidden courtyards and quiet churches. For photographers and travelers alike, the Old Town’s stone textures, colorful shutters, and dramatic light filtering through narrow passages provide endless inspiration. Climbing the ancient city walls to the fortress of San Giovanni rewards adventurers with panoramic views of the bay’s shimmering waters and the sprawling rooftops below—a breathtaking perspective that captures the full magic of Kotor. Unlike many tourist hotspots, Kotor’s Old Town manages to maintain an authentic and unpretentious atmosphere, where history lives alongside everyday life. Visitors can enjoy wandering for hours, discovering tucked-away chapels, stopping to listen to street musicians, or simply soaking in the unique ambiance of a town that has withstood centuries of change yet remains undeniably vibrant. In sum, Kotor’s Old Town is not just a destination but an experience—an evocative journey through time wrapped in stunning natural beauty, architectural splendor, and the warm hospitality of Montenegrin culture. It’s a place that stays with you long after you leave, inviting return visits to uncover even more of its treasures.

Kotor Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in the Balkans. Enclosed by ancient stone walls and overlooked by the dramatic mountains of the Bay of Kotor, the town feels like stepping back in time. Its narrow cobblestone streets, charming squares, historic churches, and Venetian-style architecture make it a perfect place to wander and explore.
Berke G — Google review
Kotor is a very beautiful medieval Mediterranean city, which I love very much. It has a special atmosphere, with narrow streets, terraces where you can eat a lot and very tasty, with chic shops and kittens everywhere. The Bay of Kotor is one of the most beautiful in the Adriatic. My heart remained there forever. I have visited it a few times and whenever I have the chance I will go back.
Monica A — Google review
The old town of Kotor is truly special – charming, atmospheric, and full of history. Narrow streets, stone walls, and the dramatic mountain backdrop create a unique vibe. It’s worth visiting at sunrise, when it’s quiet and almost empty – that’s when the true magic of the place comes alive.
Kasia Z — Google review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Marco from "where_to_go_Montenegro" was absolutely fantastic! From the moment the tour started in Kotor’s Old Town, Marco brought the city’s rich history to life with stories, humour and local insight you just can’t get from a guidebook. He was friendly, professional and clearly passionate about his home — whether we were wandering the charming streets of Kotor, boating out to Our Lady of the Rocks, or exploring the beauty of Perast, Marco made every moment memorable. He also gave us great tips (including where to get the best gelato and local rakia 🥃), and knew all the best photo spots for those jaw-dropping views. Highly recommend booking a tour with Marco if you're visiting Montenegro — it’ll be a highlight of your trip!
