Nestled in the charming city of Solvang, the Elverhøj Museum of History & Art stands as a tribute to Danish culture and heritage. This unique museum, which opened its doors in 1988, is located in the former residence of celebrated artist Viggo Brandt-Erichsen and his wife Martha Mott. It showcases an impressive collection that spans various forms of art, including photographs and traditional crafts like wooden clog making and lace-making.
This a such a wonderful free museum filled with the history of the town. I absolutely love it and hate that I didn’t have more time to take it all in… You can make a donation! The hours are Thurs-Mon 11am-5pm. They have gifts, souvenirs, books and jewelry. The large gallery is filled with modern art. There is a room with video where people discuss the history of town. I didn’t have time to watch but recommend because the history is very interesting. We learned that only 10% of town are Dutch descendants and the store front Dutch theme started in 1940’s. The garden is simply beautiful and has outdoor seating. I highly recommend visiting this museum!!!
Dr. R — Google review
It's a small and beautiful museum. I have enjoyed their art collection. There is an entry fee of $5 for adults.
Pavan K — Google review
The best museum in solvang! All the other museums around the city are just okay. And some, in my opinion, are overpriced. You get a lot for 5 dollars. This is shared with a lot of danish history and how the town became the way it was. Their wonderful facility and well kept back area of the building where you can see a miniaturized version of the city that it once was a number of years ago. Even the employee that was over there was from denmark and was gonna go on a trip. We're a month back home. She gave us a lot of history lessons the building.
Son L — Google review
It's a small museum but it gives you a tour of the past on the foundation of Solvang. Very interesting. It costs $7dlls the entrance. It has a restroom. You can play an activity of looking for hidden things on the paintings in the gallery. We spent about 30 mins total. Must see!
Rosalba T — Google review
Elverhøj Museum and Art is a small hidden museum gem in the heart of Solvang. In Danish it means Elve’s Hill. With community support, the Museum documents the history of Solvang. Visitors can spend ~30 mins to see the entire museum. Admission is very affordable. Exhibits were decent enough to learn the town’s history. Staff was affable. Gift shop is tiny. Backyard is lovely and well maintained. Street Parking only. Overall, I recommend this museum. It’s a piece of history.
Carlo N — Google review
This is a lovely little museum and I learned so much about the history of Solvang, Danish life and migration, and how the power of the press can change the fortune of an entire community. The contemporary quilt exhibition "Cloth as Canvas" that drew me there, as recommended by friends, was delightfully well-curated, showcasing many techniques and styles of different artists that still flowed in a cohesive gallery experience.
Claire W — Google review
This museum is a must see when you are exploring solvang.Might be a little small museum but the content was worth it. Detailed history and some antiques to see here. They even have a miniature of the town and viking chainmail with a lot of must see stuffs.
Tap N — Google review
You must visit the museum when visiting Solvang. The entry is FREE! You can learn Danish culture and how they came to create this village in the 1800. You can appreciate a little bit of what they show in the useful in some of the pictures I shared. It is so beautiful inside and out the architecture in the house is amazing. You can ask the front desk any questions you might have and they have the answers. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very peaceful.

Old Mission Santa Ines, founded in 1804, is a historic Spanish mission located in Solvang, California. It has withstood natural disasters and periods of neglect but continues to operate as an active parish church and museum. Named after Saint Agnes of Rome, the mission offers guided tours through its museum, church rooms, and garden via an audio tour.
We walked here right at opening time on a Sunday. Unfortunately, the church was closed due to renovations, but the person in the gift shop said that we were allowed to wander around the premises. The backdrop of this mission is gorgeous with green Hills and a stations of the cross area that people can walk around. We had a really nice time walking around and enjoying the surroundings.
Jeff Y — Google review
This is my 2nd time to visit Solvang and the Mission. This time we had more time to explore it and walk through the stations of the cross. We also found out that there is a rose garden here. I think most of the Missions have rose gardens so you better check it out. They have really interesting rose varieties. The Mission sells souvenir items, rosary beads, postcards and pendants too. We found a quiet place and sat in one of the benches facing the fields. It was a nice place to visit.
Belle — Google review
First time visiting Santa Ines Mission. The chapel was under construction and closed. The entire property is beautiful. The views are stunning and breathtaking. Everything is well maintained and clean.
Yessica R — Google review
Like most of the mission on the Camino Real (Royal Road) in California this one centers on a sizable Adobe Church and a small religious community with old shady trees and grapevines. Unfortunately, it has been under major renovation for quite some time and it is impossible to look inside of the structure except a peak from the door if you buy a ticket. Seems hardly worthwhile to buy a ticket just to peek in the door. It would be far more productive if they could offer a nice explanatory pamphlet or signage along with a brief entrance to the area that is not being heavily worked on just so visitors could get a real feel for the place.
D G — Google review
Absolutely incredible views from the parking lot of the mission. I was so amazed by the sights and sounds. I didn’t want to leave. See photos and videos for proof, if you are in the area it’s recommended that you stop here. You can see beautiful valley views in the morning with crisp morning dew covering the valley. It’s mystifying and beautiful
Erica R — Google review
Beautiful Church in Solvsng always enjoy coming here. Right now it's currently under renovation but highly recommend visiting when in town.
Matthew P — Google review
They have catholic mass here in the morning and it was a nice experience. The view and ambiance of the area is perfect. The place is quiet and has a lot of parking spot. A must visit here in solvang. Gift shop is a bit pricey but its fine donation for the church.
Tap N — Google review
Beautiful old church. Glad I stopped by. The surrounding area is beautiful as well, it has great views of the landscape. There are many rooms that have artifacts and information, so plan to spend some time here appreciating everything if you are interested in this kind of stuff.

Hans Christian Andersen Park, located in Solvang, is a charming urban outdoor space with lush greenery and various amenities. As you enter through a colorful archway resembling a castle from one of Andersen's fairy tales, you'll find interconnected pathways leading to different attractions. The park features picnic areas, playgrounds, a modern playground structure, skate park, rock climbing wall, and access to downtown Solvang attractions.
Lovely wild open space in northern Solvang. Tucked away in the residential neighborhood, it has a playground, lots of picnic areas, trails amidst river bed and oak tree groves.

This is an excellent Park to come on your own to come picnic with your significant other or your family and kids. They have many tables and multiple picnic areas at this park. Not to mention they have a skate park for the kids and there's picnic tables right next to the skatepark.. They have multiple Santa Maria style barbecue grills. This park can accommodate small to large groups skatepark for the kids, a jungle gym for the toddlers

Cute park in Solvang. It's walkable from the main part of town, but once you get inside there's a few hills you'll need to tackle. Good playground for the little ones with plenty of shaded areas to have a picnic. There is also a skate park inside. You can definitely drive in, there plenty of parking and it's free to enter
Michelle — Google review
Its an okay park in that the portion of the trails that are maintained are pretty nice. Much of the trails however are very poorly maintained, highly uneven for being able to walk or jog and there are dumpsters along part of the trail. A lot of potential to be a great park but not there yet.
Alexander ( — Google review
Nice open space, and a very quiet escape from the busy areas. The skate park looked fantastic.
Sahand S — Google review
Hans Christian Anderson Park is a peaceful, quaint park and playground just a short distance from the main Solvang shopping area. It's ideal for a picnic or quiet afternoon with nature. The picnic areas have grills and tables. There are abundant trees for shade and a beautiful lawn for frisbee. There are walking trails as well.

The Hans Christian Andersen Museum is a small, charming museum located in Solvang, dedicated to the life and works of the legendary Danish author. Despite never visiting Solvang himself, his cultural impact is celebrated here through exhibits featuring original letters, photographs, and artwork by Andersen. The museum offers insights into his childhood home and famous stories like 'The Little Mermaid' and 'The Princess and the Pea.'
Womderful and quaint annexed section within a European village styled bookstore. You can check out the beautiful displays as well as talk to the attentive curates about the items exhibited. The space is very limited but is a worthwhile visit to feel and experience the Solvang charm.
Oliver P — Google review
If you are a fan it’s a great little museum to visit. I enjoy it and like that since he was Dutch they created this museum. Learned that he was bisexual, had no clue. That’s the thing about traveling and visiting sites; learn things you never knew and see things you heeds of but never saw!!! This is a great town and great place to visit. We enjoyed all it had to offer!!
Dr. R — Google review
Nice little museum about Andersen's life. You can also find books of his stories there.
Airben — Google review
Unfortunately we had a terrible experience at the bookstore today. Apparently, during our visit, my son had thrown a book, but the people working there didn’t mention this to myself or my husband. When we were checking out, the individual asked why we weren’t purchasing that book. The remark was made in a very rude way, and again, this was not addressed real time. When I tried to speak with the individual about children with special needs and how we are trying to implement a love of reading for our son, she was very dismissive. We go to used bookstores around the country and have never been treated this way. Buyer beware if you have children with special needs or are different than what they may want in their store. Of note - any book that my son touched was not in any way damaged and all were returned to their proper shelf.
Theresa F — Google review
Just a book store with a couple of historical placards on the life & times of HCA. Was amazed to see the number of popular books he has written. Some of the titles have become commonly used phrases, like "Ugly Duckling*. His struggles culminating in grand success is an inspiring tale.
Sujit D — Google review
HCA museum is a tiny museum dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen books. It is located in downtown Solvang. If you like books this museum is for you. This museum is a good place to bring kids. Overall, it’s a nice museum for family and kids.
Carlo N — Google review
If you like these fairy tales from Andersen, you will not want to miss this small museum and bookstore. It’s free to public. The museum is on second floor when the bookstore is on the street level. There’s no restroom for public usage. But you can find it in nearby park which is only a few steps away.
John Z — Google review
This is one of my favorite places I visited on my trip to Solvang! It is a small museum that is free but you can donate money for its cause.I might be a bit biased as I loved this author since I was a kid and I learned lots of new information about him. There was a very cute house replica and it was quite unique, I do not remember seeing anything like that in any other museum. There were shelves filled with Han's books translated into different languages, which was quite cool: not only you can see what books in other languages look like but also see the differences in art styles.

The Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum is a storefront museum that showcases an impressive collection of vintage racing motorcycles from the United States, Japan, and Europe. Established in 2000 by local motorcycle enthusiast Virgil Elings, the museum features around 95 unique motorcycles for visitors to admire up close. Among its notable exhibits are rare racing machines like the Vincent Grey Flash, Britton V1000, and a supercharged version of the iconic British-built Vincent Black Lightning.
Hidden gem! The Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum is an absolute must for any motorcycle enthusiast or history buff. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a stunning collection of bikes, each one showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of a bygone era. The range of motorcycles on display is impressive—everything from rare vintage models to iconic classics. It’s clear that a lot of passion and care goes into preserving these machines. The detailed descriptions accompanying each bike provide fascinating insights into their history and significance. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, eager to share stories about the motorcycles and their origins. You can tell they genuinely love what they do, which adds so much to the experience. The museum itself is clean, well-organized, and beautifully laid out. You could easily spend hours here admiring the bikes, soaking in the nostalgia, and learning about the evolution of motorcycling over the decades. Highly recommend this place to anyone with a love for motorcycles or a curiosity about automotive history. A must-visit if you’re in the area!
Robert E — Google review
Add this to your itinerary and you will not regret it!! The guy there was soo knowledgeable, he was very refreshing to learn from and you could tell he’s passionate about what he does. Even you’ve visited before, it is worth going again because they rotate the bikes on display. Almost every bike is accompanied with a short paragraph, and the accompanying artwork and decoration all around the store is fun to look at. He’s very clear and encouraging about taking as many pictures as we want, but no touching (obviously). It’s very nice to be able to walk around, appreciate every detail and not feel rushed. Take note that it is CASH ONLY as of 04/13/25. We went in the morning near opening, and it got busier closer to noon. Although we didn’t experience a wait to go in and didn’t run into too many people, once it picks up it might feel a bit crowded because they walkways aren’t wide. They kinda just go in a square, so there’s not much space to maneuver around groups or other people. I would recommend going early to avoid crowds, or find a time where you can have the place almost all to yourself.
Jimeah C — Google review
Unique collection of rare and fascinating motorcycles. The docent gave me a 1 on 1 tour and running commentary on the collection. Well worth the time to visit.
Michael F — Google review
We had a real blast here. The motorcycles are beautiful. In the ride out here from Los Angeles with Pure Bliss.

$10 to endter bot bad for such a great collection. My personal favorite was the Britten V1000.
Joseph Y — Google review
Excellent, intimate, casual display of motorcycle history. I like very much how easy it is to get up close and personal, examining these beautiful specimens of motorcycle history. The Crocker on display was gorgeous. Wish they made modern bikes that look like that today. Being an Indian fan. I have photos of that brand to share. Many brands I was unaware existed. Excellent collection. My new place to go to while wife spends money downtown.
John F — Google review
Nice, clean and intimate. The curator was extremely knowledgeable about the motorcycles and has a close relationship with the owner which adds to the experience!
Lex — Google review
The location is great even though there is limited parking. They are open only during weekends but, open during the weekdays by appointment. There is a $10 fee for entry. The amount of bikes makes it well worth the admission price. If you happen to get Daniel he is a wealth of information and all-around great guy to talk with.

Sunny Fields Park in Solvang is a delightful recreational haven that feels like stepping into a Viking fairytale. This enchanting park features a beautifully crafted wooden playground adorned in soft hues of blue, green, and muted red, making it visually striking. Families will find plenty to enjoy here, from slides and tire swings to charming little houses perfect for games of hide and seek. True to its Danish roots, the park also boasts whimsical elements like a gingerbread house, puppet theater, and even a Viking ship.
Beautiful park with fun play structures for children big and small. Fun place to get the wiggles out. Very nice clean and stocked bathrooms.
Preston W — Google review
Really fun park to explore Danish-style and viking structures! Lots of great photo opportunities are intentionally embedded into the playground. There is a "Tot Lot" (ages 2-5) section of the playground which is designed for little kids accompanied by parents (benches for parents around the perimeter). Maintenance staff were really friendly; They came around and double-checked that cobwebs were cleaned off. Very well-maintained and clean restrooms as well. They were saying that this park was modeled after another (assuming larger) park in Santa Barbara. Dog-friendly is a plus!
Eibenator — Google review
This park has the most epic playground! There are playhouses on the ground level and a big play gym that looks like a dutch castle. My toddlers loved playing here!

This park made me think of a princess and prince theme costume party, beautiful park with Solvang-style Danish details, only 5 minutes from the town, with swings and many slides. a bright green grass, clean and suitable for a good weekend.

We recently visited Sunny Fields Park in Solvang, and it's truly a great place for families with children! This park is fantastic for kids to play, featuring a wonderful wooden castle and slides. It reminds us a bit of Alameda Park in Santa Barbara. If you're passing through Solvang (Danish Town) and your little ones aren't keen on city tours, this park is definitely worth a 30-minute stop. You can have a picnic here or just take a break and let the kids burn off some energy. It's a wonderful place to relax and let the children have some fun!
Ahn J — Google review
great park, has a big field, a volleyball court, and of course a very large playground. we went here with our two boys who are seven and three and there was something for all of them including a lot of playground equipment you don't normally see like a tightrope walk, a little store, a Viking ship and some other goodies. The architecture of the playground is also really great because it matches solving and the Dutch village feel. there's also a picnic area and restrooms so you could just go there with a lunch and hang out while you kids play. there's a decent amount of shade in the picnic area and some other areas but they playground itself is pretty hot which is my only very small ding.

Nestled in the heart of Solvang, the Solvang Theaterfest is a delightful outdoor amphitheater that has been enchanting audiences since 1974. With a capacity of 700 seats, this charming venue hosts an array of live performances from June to October, including captivating plays and musicals by PCPA Theaterfest. The theater's picturesque park-like grounds invite you to arrive early and enjoy a picnic before the show—don’t forget to grab some delicious treats from the on-site bakery!
We love coming to Solvang Theaterfest to see shows, but this particular review is for renting their space for events -- our wedding. I cannot say enough kind things about Solvang Theaterfest and their help in making our dream wedding venue come to life. We had been there once at night and just loved the ambience and vibe, and they were our first venue inquiry once we got engaged. Scott and Chantel were great to communicate with and get everything sorted out. We did a few different venue walkthroughs to discuss our vision; they gave ideas and thoughts and helped us sort out our contract to fit exactly what we were hoping for. My husband and I met doing outdoor community theatre, so it was a perfect full circle place for our wedding to take place. The garden and lobby space were so fitting and perfect for our intimate wedding. Our ceremony took place in the garden and the reception was in the lobby area. Our food truck was able to pull up in the alley behind the theatre and they opened up the gate next to the concessions stand to just open up right into the food truck access. It was perfect. As for pre-wedding prep, the groomsmen and my husband were able to get ready in the dressing rooms at the theatre, while me and my girls got ready at an Airbnb that my parents were staying at – which is located directly behind the theatre – so convenient! Scott was so helpful and instrumental in helping to answer all of our questions about the venue and area since we were new to CA and the coast. They also helped to connect us with Elite Events who rented us some more strings of lights, which was gorgeous and perfect for our evening reception. They have worked with them in the past, so that was all seamless and handled with no effort needed from us. We also were able to use their tables and chairs for the ceremony and reception, and it worked perfectly. They answered all of our questions and helped us get everything figured out so it all went smoothly on the big day. Jenny was the house manager that Solvang Theaterfest provided us with, and she was really helpful in having the day run smoothly. She was there for any questions and quick help we needed regarding the venue. We got so much great feedback on the venue and everyone really just loved the intimacy of it. It was ideal for our small wedding. Thank you for everything, Solvang Theaterfest! We look forward to coming back for many shows and reminiscing on our lovely wedding day.

Prior to the show you can sit on benches, tables, or on the grass in their garden area. There is a snack bar with lots of goodies, including gluten free, and drinks. Many brought in food, pizza and other takeout, to eat there prior to the show.

Fun. Cast was great, set was great, good turnout but not too many people. It's been renovated since my last visit. Seats could be a little more comfortable but I still love coming here. 👍

For anyone coming to Solvang during the summer months, this live outside theather is a must. I have been going since I moved to the Santa Ynez Valley. IMPORTANT: If you do go, make sure you bring a jacket, a blanket, as it gets chilly when the sun goes down, even if it was 90° during the day.

Solvang Theaterfest “outdoor theater” is a great venue to see your favorite PCPA theater productions or music acts. It is outdoors so always check the weather and dress accordingly. Onsite you will find a concession stand with tasty treats, wine, beer, coffee, hot chocolate and even an Irish Coffee if you want. They also have a stand selling show related items but also have seat cushions and blankets for rent. There’s a nice grassy area to sit and wait before the show and also an area with tables and chairs. Enjoy your visit.

The California Nature Art Museum is a small but captivating museum that showcases an ever-changing array of nature-themed art, including paintings and photography. Visitors can also explore digital galleries on the museum's website to view exhibitions and virtual initiatives. The museum offers a diverse range of exhibits, from stunning photography displays to fine art galleries. Additionally, visitors can engage in hands-on activities such as origami and even design their own postcards at designated tables.
Beautiful small museum with California nature themed exhibits. Currently (12/2024) underwater/marine paintings and nature quilts. Great little gift sgop with unique themed gifts. Third floor room with art activities for kids. Only $5 admission for this charming nonprofit museum.

Great place to visit and take some pictures, $5 USD per person, bunch of stuff to see, worth it. 👍

Excited much?!! So it begins ... Meet Lulu Hyggelig, our first-ever Thomas Dambo's, "Trash, Trolls & Treasure Hunts," permanent resident of CA Nature Art Museum in Solvang, CA. Admission fee: $5/pp (Aug 2025) During our visit, the museum also featured selections from CALNAM permanent collections as well as Yosemite by William Neill

CNAM is a small museum featuring ever-changing exhibits of nature-centric art, from animal and nature paintings to photography. It’s located in the ancestral lands of the Santa Ynez Tribe of Chumash in Solvang, CA. It has three floors, the first floor are divided into three art galleries; second floor has one art gallery; the third floor is for art work studio for kids to color and paint. Admission ticket is $7 USD. Gift shop is tiny that share space by the admission front desk. My favorite section was the giant wooden Troll. You can spend 40 minutes to check the entire museum. Street parking is available. Overall, it’s a nice little museum town that exhibits local artist art work.

If you have 15-30 min to spend after eating food in Solvang, then this is a place to visit before you hit the road. They host one of the 150+ trolls across the entire world (40+ across USA). Apart from that they have some amazing artwork on display. Cost is only $5 per person. They also have a cool gift shop, restrooms, and art activities for children.
Ganesh B — Google review
We visited while the museum was under construction, and were surprised that they remained open. Admission was free as a result and we spent plenty of time roaming the photography exhibit on display in addition to watching the whole video about great oaks. Upstairs there was more art and a room with activities like origami. When we returned to the lobby we browsed the gift shop and purchased some local art. The woman in the shop was so excited when we proudly showed her our origami. It was a wonderful time, we can't wait to visit after renovation is complete.
Jennifer V — Google review
Small but worth the trip. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. There are many different activities all over the museum to help you engage with the art and nature. The third floor has a whole activity center good for artists and curious kids alike.
Libby W — Google review
Cool little art museum. $5 for adult admission, children free. Free parking on the street. Amazing nature quilts on the second floor now. Smaller quilts for sale in the gift shop. Native bees on the first floor both the insects and photos with magnified views. Lots of other art on display as well. Well stocked gift shop

Solvang Windmill is a must-see landmark in the charming town of Solvang, known as the Danish capital of California. The town offers a delightful walking tour, starting from the visitor center where you can get all necessary information and find convenient parking. The windmill is one of six iconic windmills in Solvang, with four built by Ferdinand Sorensen, the architectural father of Solvang. The town comes alive at dusk with festive lights, creating a lively and spirited atmosphere.
There's something about visiting a city that has been formed into a small village. It is like going back in time in a different country experience of joy laughter and even the friendliness of new faces. Each store has such warmth and hospitality inside. Always gets the feeling of come back and see us again. We enjoyed your company.

I only heard of fame, but this is my first time stopping by, and it's so beautiful. European-style buildings and small souvenir shops. And restaurants and bakeries were enough to excite me. I strongly recommend you to visit.

I visited the Solvang Windmill during Christmas, and it was absolutely magical! The whole town was beautifully decorated with festive lights, and the Windmill added the perfect touch of charm and holiday spirit. It felt like stepping into a European Christmas village. The area around the Windmill was lively, with cheerful music, local treats, and cozy shops. It’s such a picturesque spot—perfect for photos and soaking in the holiday atmosphere. I highly recommend visiting during the Christmas season for a truly unique and festive experience!

Solvang is a charming little Danish-style town in California great for a day trip with cute bakeries, windmills, wine tasting, and lots of photo ops, though it can feel a bit touristy.

A little town just north of Santa Barbara, where you can enjoy a little bit of Danish architecture and culture without leaving the U.S.

Went to Solvang on my way to a pow wow. In town was so nice! Lots of awesome shops that you don't see everyday . And windmills every where. They were having an event with outside with hand crafted items, Mariachis , bikes with coaches you can rent to drive you around. Ice cream and candy shops. Street vendors I really enjoyed the beauty of the town

Great place. Must visit. Must walk in the neighborhood to understand the beauty of this place. I couldn’t spend much time here. I will surely come back here to give a full review of Solvang sometime in the future. Till then , come enjoy this beautiful Danish Capital of America. :)

The Little Mermaid Fountain is a charming half-scale replica of the famous statue in Copenhagen, located at the corner of Mission Drive and Alisal Road. Despite being smaller and less crowded than the original, it's a lovely spot to visit. The rustic appearance adds to its fairytale-like charm, making it an ideal place to rest in the shade and snap some photos.
Great place to rest in the shade & appreciate this replica of the famous “Little Mermaid” of Copenhagen. Free public parking is less than a block away.

A beautiful fountain in the heart of Solvang! I had heard about it prior to our visit over Easter weekend and we finally got to see it! It’s also right next to a great hamburger restaurant so after a day of shopping, you can fill your belly and sit near this beautiful fountain and landmark in Solvang!

This fountain is a good meeting spot in Solvang. There is parking nearby and it is a good place to start if you’re planning to walk around town.

The cute and tiny little mermaid. We just passed by and took some pictures here for only 5 mins. The statue is not really the real but still symbolizes Danish style.

This is a cute fountain of The Little Mermaid. The fountain wasn’t on at the time and did not have any information or a plaque near it. If you are walking around this town, definitely recommend a quick stop.

The Solvang Trolley & Carriage Tours offer a unique experience by combining the charm of horse-drawn carriages with the convenience of trolleys. The Danish-style streetcar, known as the Honen, has been operating since 1964 and provides delightful tours of Solvang. Visitors can enjoy rides drawn by two handsome horses and even rent the trolley for special occasions like weddings and wine tours.
My husband and I took the Trolley first thing in the morning and were the only guests but we were given the same quality tour as if the trolley was full. We were able to see the entire town without walking or driving it. We got some really great photos and recommend the Solvang Trolley to any visitor. Diana our guide and Cowboy was our driver.
Kathy P — Google review
What an amazing experience! The Solvang Trolley & Carriage is hands down the best way to explore this charming Danish village. The horses are beautiful and so well cared for, the carriage is comfortable, and the ride feels like stepping back in time. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and full of fun local stories that really bring Solvang to life. It’s not just a ride—it’s an experience. You get to relax, enjoy the sights, and learn about the history and culture of the town without rushing around. Perfect for families, couples, or anyone who wants a unique way to see Solvang. Highly recommend this—don’t leave Solvang without doing the trolley and carriage ride!
All V — Google review
If not for the 100 F heat, I would say any tourist and first timers should take this tour! It’s our family’s third time only because we love the Danish theme of this town and we always buy pastries! We would have also taken the horse carriage but they need to take a break when it’s this hot. Overall, service was great, just need to warn people to buy a ticket first before falling in line! I bought my tickets online, and an email with instructions were sent.
Zoe E — Google review
What a fun half hour! Great way to learn about & SEE Solvang (& avoid walking all over on a very hot day). Denise & Cowboy were gracious, lovely guides who had fascinating information & good answers to our questions. It was so relaxed and enjoyable. Super-easy to book online or get a ticket onsite. We loved it❣️

Solvang is such an interesting little town to visit. It's charming and very picturesque, certainly worth the visit. We came last year and walked a few blocks but this trolley tour was very nice. You got to hear a lot of the history surrounding the settlement of the Dutch in this part of California as well as learn about the architecture and all the little nuances that make Solvang so lovely. The tour takes about an hour and they go slowly through the town and a few of the outer streets. It's worth a trip and a listen.
Emily Y — Google review
A great way to start your trip to Solvang. You get some interesting history and can start planning where you want to go.
Anne P — Google review
When we got to the bus, there was a lady taking a pictures for a mom and a little girl and nobody in the line.I didn't see the ticket booth,I just wanted to take some pictures real quick before people crowed up,I found out that the lady was tour guide or conductor whatever you call, she yelled at us to get off couple of times instead of telling us to buy tickets first and leading us to the booth, that is the appropriate attitude she should have had.But she had pretty informative knowledges. She was in a bad mood or had something against asian. She needs to be educated.Other than her nasty attitude, it was beautiful ride, clean streets, beautiful small town.
Kwang S — Google review
I live in the area and every time I come to solvang these horses look malnourished, exhausted, and depressed. Not to mention the 80+ degree weather they’re expected to haul a literal ton in.There are bike carts and other tour buses that don’t exploit innocent horses. The people giving their money to support this need to do better.

The Ultimate Escape Rooms in Solvang offers a thrilling escape room experience where you and your friends can race against the clock to solve puzzles and clues in fantasy-themed rooms. Despite some feedback about small room size and disconnected puzzles, visitors have praised the well-decorated rooms and accommodating staff. The "Phantom of the Big Top" room stands out for its challenging yet enjoyable puzzles, well-maintained environment, and enthusiastic staff.
Omg definitely a fun creepy spot in solvang ! We went at about 8pm. Quiet and creepy but the most fun ever if you want to escape the drinking for a night! The guy in the front was fun and kind. I love how it’s just you and your group. No one else. He also gave us an extra few minutes. Our escape room was second to the easiest one but yet we still had trouble haha but that’s us! The worker was attentive at helping when we needed it.
Alexandra K — Google review
We did the Gold Rush escape room. We were told that this was of moderate difficulty but found it pretty hard. Especially as we didn't really have anything to start with, found some clues out of order and certain solutions felt random or like you needed a lot of prior knowledge. Having said that, we still had a great time! The staff were helpful, their hints were good and always led us in the right direction. Definitely a great way to spend an hour during the day!
Rishab N — Google review
Had a wonderful time doing two of the rooms today as a team building exercise for work. We had a group of ten, so I was concerned that would be too many, but we were well coordinated and communicated well, so it worked out great. Only two of us had ever done escape rooms before, so most of the team was newbies. The staff was awesome and we had no technical problems. Everyone seemed to have a great time.

We did the Big Top Circus escape room and we enjoyed our time there. An hour shot right by. Unfortunately, we didn't win, maybe you'll do better. I will come back and try another escape room in the future.
Pitot G — Google review
Phantom of the Big Top is probably the best escape room I have done so far! All the puzzles were challenging without being frustrating or annoying. The room was well-maintained and highly enjoyable to explore. The staff was fun, and seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. We will definitely return!
