Camp Hero State Park, situated on Montauk Point, spans 415 acres and offers a diverse natural landscape with wooded areas, ocean vistas, beaches, and wetlands. Once a military base during WWII, the park now invites visitors to explore its rugged bluffs, tidal pools, and hiking trails while learning about its intriguing history and rumored connections to paranormal activity. The former Montauk Air Force Station's ruins can be seen along the trails.
Beautiful large State Park in Montauk, NY. Amazing views of the bluffs and the Atlantic Ocean. There are many trails to walk around through the woods and near the beach. There are also multiple picnic areas available. You can see great views of the Montauk Point Lighthouse. It was $8.00 to enter the state park with a vehicle. I would recommend checking out Camp Hero State Park.

This is one of Montauk’s most precious gems! Everyone comes to visit the historic Montauk lighthouse and drive right by the entrance to one of the most incredible pieces of WWII history! Walk the amazing trails, that take you through the various WWII batteries. Discover breathtaking ocean cliff private views! And of course the Safe Radar tower is a must! From the spooky rumors of top secret government programs like the Montauk Project to Operation MK ultra. Make sure to protect yourself with Deet the ticks are terrible! Plenty of beautiful spots for cookouts, complete with picnic tables and large charcoal grills! A must visit location!

Camp Hero State Park is one of our favorite place to hike. Weather has been warm so we went to hike here three times last week. As you walk the trail by the beach, you will see “hoodoo” formations. It has been eroded and losing more land every year we come by. As you walk alongside the beach, you can see surfers catching waves and fish popping up in the water. You can walk to lighthouse. Truly magical place to hike and spend the day when you are in Montauk.
Amy K — Google review
One of my favorite places on long island, with a deep history as well as some mystery behind it. Some of the darkest skies are found here from my Milky Way Photography
Chris B — Google review
One of the best places to hike on long island winter, spring, summer or fall! From the radar dish to the lighthouse, to seal haul out and back to radar you get so many great views and trail types. The cliffs along the south shore are not to be missed
Kristopher S — Google review
I had a great hike with my dad all throughout camp hero, camp hero sanctuary and to the lighthouse. We found bunkers hidden in the woods of course sealed off. It would be amazing to open 1 up just to see what it looked like back then. We walked all over camp hero and the sanctuary. It was a great day and can't wait to come out here again. The bowling alley must have only been 2 lanes at best if you can find it.
Michael K — Google review
I try to get here once a year. It's a beautiful park. Great dog walking park. It can be stroller friendly, if you have a large wheeled jogging stroller. Though, I don't recommend you bring strollers, unless you stay on the roads and flat trails. If you're planning on walking through the sand trails or small wooded trails you'll have a tough time. The area is beautiful and you'll learn a lot about the history of Camp Hero if you stop and read the plaques in the barracks.
Drea A — Google review
Great place to visit, and if you want to picnic. There are certain places that you can drive and certain areas that you can't, you will need to hike. There are bathrooms located on the park property and are clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking around the area. Please don't trespass where signs are posted. Wear comfortable sneakers if you plan to hike a little. Please see posted signs, especially at the Bluff Overlook. At the map of the area, there are maps and information about the park that are available below the large map. Please stay at the posted speed limit, there are people who are walking, hiking, and jogging on the road way.

Nature & Parks
Hither Hills State Park is a coastal haven featuring a vast campground, sandy dunes, and various recreational facilities. The park's diverse landscape includes rolling dunes, woodlands, and scenic trails perfect for activities like hiking and birdwatching. Nearby Camp Hero State Park offers rugged bluffs, tidal pools, and historical intrigue. Montauk's reputation as the 'Fishing Capital of the World' draws fishing enthusiasts seeking striped bass, fluke, and bluefish.
Hither Hills is a favorite of ours. It is quiet and peaceful when we go in April. The beach is beautiful but eroded from last year. The bathrooms and showers are a plus. The town has an IGA where you can pick up groceries. White's drug store has whatever else you may need plus a gift shop. There are numerous restaurants to choose from. At times, the sound of the waves at night is so soothing it lulls me to sleep. There is a nice picnic area with tables and barbecues and a great playground.
Donna C — Google review
Love the place, not the over burdensome rules for families camping with different members back and forth with different cars
Andreas S — Google review
Easily our favorite beach in the Hamptons. $10/day parking, super clean bathrooms, snack bar, lifeguards after Labor Day.
Taylor N — Google review
Beautiful beach with a campground and all the facilities necessary.
Jana S — Google review
Hither hills campground. I have to say one of the best bathrooms I've ever seen at a campground. They also have family bathrooms and super large showers 😜.No pull string water control is the best. There's a nice size playground for the kids or big adults. All the sites are back in. There is no privacy between sites and every site is completely open.Everyone is very friendly. They actually have a general store that sells beer. They sell wood at the main office $7 a bundle. It was worth it . On the back side of the main office building they have air fill up the station. If you're coming back from wheeling this is nice. From where we camped we were literally on the other side of the dune to the beach. There are no hookups so you have to be self-contained. There are water spickets around the campgrounds. So if you do pick a site that is close to one of these water stations you might get some extra foot traffic near your site. Something to think about when choosing a spot. We really had a great time and you're only 10 minutes away from town which was also very nice. We will definitely be returning.
Joey — Google review
Nice quiet camping with the sound of the ocean as a constant background. The wind off the ocean was pretty consistent but not enough to drive off the mosquitos. This place is more popular with RV camping but you can set up two tents (but no more! Despite the presence of house-sized RVs, you're not allowed more than two tents and they'll absolutely make you take them down if you try). There aren't tall trees so no hammocks or overhead tarping are likely to happen. Bathrooms are clean. Showers are free and warm. There's a general store. During the day, the beach is full of people.
Joe P — Google review
This campground is amazing. I love falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Every once in a while with the nake eye you can see whales and dolphins. The campers are courtesy, respectful and helpful.
Daniel F — Google review
If you love boondock camping and the beach, Hither Hills State Park campground is the perfect combination of both. Nestled off Old Montauk Highway, the campsites are spacious with easy access to the beach just over the sand dunes. Clean toilets and showers are within short walking distance from each site. A general store is onsite with basic necessities and a grill for quick breakfast/lunch items. Beware and reserve 6-9 months in advance of your trip during peak summer season which requires a minimum stay of 7 days. Also plan for limited cellphone service. But once you’re here, relax by your tent or camper, sleep on the beach, or explore the surrounding villages east or west of the park. We’re hoping to make this an annual place to visit! The camp office staff was very helpful throughout our stay specially Jeanny who gave us a lot of guidance and recommendations since it was our first time in the area!

Ditch Plains Beach is a popular destination known for its excellent surfing and swimming opportunities. The beach boasts seasonal lifeguards, making it a safe spot for water activities. Situated near Montauk, the beach is framed by impressive cliffs and offers stunning panoramic views. Visitors can bask in the sun on the clean sandy shores or take a refreshing dip in the ocean. The area is also favored by surfers who come to ride the long breaks along the sparkling shoreline.
Ditch Plains Beach is a must-visit spot in Montauk! The beach offers excellent surfing and bodyboarding with some of the best waves on Long Island. The views are stunning, and the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing day by the water. Pros: Ample parking available Bike rack for those who prefer cycling Clean restrooms on-site Cons: It can get crowded during peak season, but it's worth it! Ditch Plains Beach is a fantastic destination for beach lovers and surf enthusiasts. Don't miss out on this gem!
ALazyMansGuide — Google review
Don't bother !!! These so-called Cliffs are nothing more than some walkway that eroded. Actually quite sad, proof that the beach is slowly eroding. Someone wrote that this beach is a public beach. We came on a cloudy day, just to walk and see and ended up with a $150.00 ticket. We checked the time, they wrote it out 8 minutes before we returned to our car. So no it is not a public beach. Unless you have a permit you can not park here. On top of that, the only signs that say that you need a permit are on the side parking spots, we parked in the middle, where there were no signs. We thought it was ok since there was no sign designating otherwise. They have a sign for vendors to park, for handicap, and for residents all on the side parking spots but nothing in the middle. Except for a dead groundhog. Don't bother making the trip !!

Great location. Parking lot next to beach (limited spots). Will get a ticket if parked in restricted areas. Food truck with food and beverage options. Bathroom with showers.

I had a such a great time at Ditch Plains Beach in Montauk, NY. It is exciting to spectate surfers as they enjoy the great Atlantic waves!

I love this beach. We come to Montauk in late winter early spring to house/pet sit and there are always so many locals here. There is always something interesting to be seen here and the sun is almost always shining. 🐾
Zachary S — Google review
Awesome beach, great for surfing! Though the lifeguards think otherwise. I completely understand why they are there, but their attitude towards my group was completely unacceptable. Staring at us when walking by, and being verbally rude to us, WHEN WE ARE JUST TRYING TO HAVE A GOOD TIME AND SURF! We weren’t even in the swimmers zone, and they just swam to me and my group and told us we aren’t allowed to surf, though there were hundreds of other surfers around us and we were as good as them. We were causing no danger whatsoever, not even cutting off surfers while riding the waves! Just peacefully on our surf boards waiting for the next good wave. The lifeguard chair was waaaay out of our sight (they were in the swimmers zone!). They must have had a pretty bad day because they let out all their anger on us! I tried calling the beach over the phone, nobody picked up. I really hope ditch plains beach can really DITCH these rude lifeguards.

Lovely beach, wild and untamed. Come here if you like nature and pebbles. Crashing waves and strong cross currents. It is life affirming.

Kirk Park Beach is a picturesque white-sand beach located near the center of Montauk. Despite its proximity to shops and restaurants, the beach offers a serene escape with its expansive golden shores stretching over 500 feet. During the summer season, vigilant lifeguards ensure safety while visitors can access bathroom and shower facilities year-round. The convenient location near hotels and free parking make it a popular spot for sunbathing and swimming, offering tranquil waters perfect for family outings.
This could possibly be one of the cleanest and prettiest beaches I have ever been too. Being from Brooklyn I am used to all kinds of debris (especially glass) on the sand when visiting Coney Island. I could see that this beach is very well maintained. The only thing you have to look out for is either Jellyfish or High Tide while either lying out or just walking on the sand. I was staying at a nearby motel, so I didn't have to deal with the parking situation, which I hear is pretty steep. I will definitely come here again the next time I am in the area.
Lisa S — Google review
The beach was clean, which really should just be what it is and not whether or not. The parking is $38 with only full day parking options. Nothing cheaper by the hour or anything. That amount is just predatory.
Shawn S — Google review
Nice beach in town! Lifeguards were present until 5pm.
Miguel C — Google review
Flat and sandy with the waves breaking at the shore (no body surfing unless you like the taste of sand). Best beach for lawn games like spike ball. On the less populated side for the area. Park nearby closer to town to avoid the parking fee.
M B — Google review
We were here to see the ocean and more importantly the awesome waves created by Hurricane Erin as it was passing by the coast. Beautiful experience being here.
Cold W — Google review
Nice beach quiet swimming lifeguard on duty nice place if you can't swim with the stars you can go here no parking permit needed. Sandy Beach plenty of parking rate down here not busy today it's a Monday but if you came all this way and you're hot and itching for a place to swim turn on the country music strip down and take a splash
KENNETH A — Google review
Such great beaches! I love to come here in the day or night. When it's dark it's so beautiful. I would recommend bringing bug spray even though there aren't so many plants around which usually attract more bugs. Parking is so easy and even if you have to park down the street you will have a nice walk there.
Jeremiah — Google review
Nice beach. Cold water. Soft pale yellow sand. Parking not longer free. City charging $35.00 per day. Nearby street parking free for 2 hours if you are not planning to expend whole day

Nestled at the easternmost tip of Long Island, the Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Montauk, NY. This historic lighthouse, commissioned by George Washington in 1796, stands as a testament to maritime history and offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors can ascend 137 iron steps to reach the top and soak in panoramic vistas that stretch towards Block Island.
I had an amazing time visiting the Montauk Lighthouse. The historical significance of the site is truly impressive, and it’s great to see how well it’s been preserved. The staff were incredibly informative and attentive, answering any questions I had about the lighthouse and its history. Climbing to the top took about 10 minutes — a fun little workout with a rewarding view at the end! While I was a bit disappointed that you can’t go out onto the balcony (you can only poke your head out), it didn’t take away from the overall experience. All in all, a great visit. I’m definitely looking forward to returning for more adventures in the future!

MONTAUK *Montauk: A Scenic Stop on Long Island, New York* Montauk, located at the easternmost tip of Long Island, New York, is a charming small town with a historic lighthouse. We visited Montauk by train, arriving at a simple platform-style station. Taxis are readily available outside the station, and we opted to take one to the lighthouse point. The taxi driver was friendly and reliable, dropping us off at the lighthouse and agreeing to return at 2 pm to take us back to the station. The lighthouse point itself is picturesque but can be explored within 30 minutes. Unfortunately, there are no restaurants or refreshment options nearby, so we spent the remaining time wandering around. As promised, our taxi driver returned on time and took us back to the train station. On the way, we grabbed some snacks since there are no amenities near the station. Given the limited options, it's advisable for tourists to have their own transportation. However, if that's not possible, taking a taxi from the station is a good alternative. *Tips for Visitors* - Have your own transportation for flexibility. - If taking a taxi, confirm the pickup time and fare beforehand. - Bring snacks and refreshments, as options are limited in Montauk. Overall, Montauk's scenic beauty and historic lighthouse make it a worthwhile visit, but plan accordingly to make the most of your trip.
Jeevan A — Google review
It’s very cool but also very small. They also have the original document from George Washington chartering the lighthouse as president in 1790, which is neat. Definitely worth going up in the lighthouse once to see the views, and then hike down to the beach for some beautiful scenery.
Caleb — Google review
After living on long Isalnd for 16 years we finally decided to see the light house and it grounds. We were not disapointed a wonderul experiance. We really enjoyed the climb to the top of the light house and the museum exhibits. The views were breathtaking
Pierre N — Google review
Tips for Visitors: 1. Arrive Early: To avoid long wait times, try to arrive early in the day, especially on weekends. 2. Wear Comfortable Shoes: Since the climb involves steep and narrow steps, comfortable footwear is essential. 3. Check the Weather: Clear days offer the best views, so keep an eye on the weather forecast before your visit. 4. Bring Water: Stay hydrated, especially if you’re planning to hike the surrounding areas. 5. Time Your Visit: Consider visiting the museum first to learn about the lighthouse before climbing to the top. The Montauk Lighthouse is truly a gem along the New York coastline. The museum offers fascinating insights into the history of the lighthouse and its role in maritime navigation. The exhibits are well-curated, showcasing artifacts and stories that bring the area's rich maritime heritage to life. It's important to note that there is no line to enter the lighthouse museum itself. However, visitors should be prepared for a long queue, with possible wait times of up to an hour to reach the top. There is only one staircase for both ascending and descending, consisting of about 137 steep, narrow, and twisting steps, which limits the number of people allowed at a time. Despite this, the experience is definitely worth it. Climbing to the top provides breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding landscape. Overall, a visit to Montauk Lighthouse is a perfect blend of history, education, and natural beauty. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!
Heena — Google review
A must visit for anyone living, or visiting N.Y. I make it out there at least twice a year. I use to go more often when I lived on Long Island. It's so beautiful out there. I've also walked up to the top of the lighthouse, which wasn't easy, but worth it. Pack lunch, or stop at one of the restaurants on your way through. Its a nice day trip.
Georgette — Google review
I was a surreal experience. We went there on a weekend. You should be there by early afternoon to have better experience. There are picnic spots near the light house too. There was line of 40-50 minutes to see the top of the functioning lighthouse.
Akshit K — Google review
I've been wanting to come here for atleast two year and finally made the trip here. The parking fee its $8 and if you want to visit the museum and lighthouse is $15. The museum has plenty of cool history not just of the lighthouse but of the area in generalm here you'll find cool artifacts and items related to the area. The lighthouse its self its bigger than it looks in pictures. I recommend checking out the lighthouse 1st them the museum due to a line tends to build up.restrooms are located at the entrance begind the giftshop/ticket booth. This is because only a certain amount of people are allowed at the time. Also small children and babies not allowed so keep that in mind. Its 137 steps from top to bottom. Once you reach the top the views are amazing. There's a guide at the bottom and top who will answer any questions you may have. They will also provide the instructions on how to walk up down and down the steps. Once at the top they also give you the opportunity to see the light it self which is pretty cool. As you walk the grounds you take the the stunning views. They have benches to sit and relax and take in the gorgeous ocean views. Or you can relax on the grass or walk down by the water. They also have a section behind the museum & lighthouse about the marine life in the area. Overall it was a very unique awesome experience. Definitely addex to your bucket list.

Montauk Point State Park, situated on the easternmost tip of Long Island, offers a diverse range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts. The park's rocky shore is a popular spot for surf fishing, surfing, and leisurely walks with stunning views of the converging tides from the Atlantic Ocean and Block Island Sound. In addition to its iconic lighthouse, the park features nature trails that are perfect for hiking or cross-country skiing during winter.
One of the best places to visit. Beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean along with amazing view if the coast line. Light house and its surrounding area is very clean and well maintained. We were able to take a stroll on to the beach and we walked on the rocks to get a good view of the bluffs, ocean and Lighthouse

Some of the best fishing LI has to offer. incredible sunsets. better start your trip early because the traffic getting out there is terrible. you can stop at the Shinnecock Indian reservation for some things to make the trip more fun . Keep your eyes peeled you may see some seals.

Very pretty lighthouse at the end of the island. Unfortunately it closes quite early so I didn’t get a chance to go up to the top. Enjoyed the views though, and the beach. Parking lot can be a bit confusing, had to google what the vehicle use fees meant. Still confused, but looks like they are only charged during certain hours.

It's a nice place to visit. The photos of the lighthouse and the Atlantic Ocean are breathtaking. There are a lot of beaches and local restaurants nearby.

Gorgeous. At the end of a continental ice slide that took place millions of years ago, Montauk has diversity with healthy sea water, lots of kelp and a diverse landscape of wildlife and native plants. An incredibly beautiful part of the world. And I imagine there is some good surf when some hurrican swell pushes up from the south

Super clean, you can park here for $8 your the grounds of the lighthouse, without having to pay to go in the light house.

Montauk Downs State Park is a versatile park offering various amenities for visitors. The highlight of the park is its 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Additionally, the park features a clubhouse with dining options, a catering facility, a driving range, children's wading pool, and swimming pool. There are also six championship tennis courts available to the public during specific months.
Beautiful, well kept public golf course located in Montauk. Our group was blessed with a beautiful, warm November day out on the links. Greens were rolling and the fairways were healthy. Definitely a must play for any golfer visiting Montauk.
Luis D — Google review
I played Montauk Downs and absolutely loved it! The course was in great shape, with a beautiful layout that was both fun and challenging Every hole had its own personality, and the coastal breeze made it even more exciting The staff were super welcoming, and the overall vibe was relaxed but professional Such a great place to spend the day I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Montauk!
Kaitie G — Google review
Overall amazing track. Fun and challenging layout, narrow fairways that punish a miss. Plenty of hazards to make you think through every shot. 20mph winds added to the fun!
Zack M — Google review
Montauk Downs is an amazing golf course that truly embodies Montauk. Pristine nature, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking sunsets make it a one-of-a-kind experience. The layout offers a fair but demanding test of golf. From the back tees, it becomes especially challenging, and when the wind picks up, it turns into a true measure of skill. Green fees are very reasonable, especially for NYS residents. Even if you’re not, this course is a must-play for anyone who appreciates great golf design. Just note — securing a tee time during peak months can be tough, so plan ahead.
Richard Y — Google review
Great golf course. We were there on a rainy day and had the course mostly to ourselves. It was a great design and very well maintained. The pro shop had a good selection of merchandise and they have a grill.as well for food.
Victor F — Google review
Good Golf Course. We had some bad weather but still had a good time. The course is tough, lost some balls. But the course was in good condition. Overall it was a good experience. Only complain is that you have to pay for golf and the cart in two different spots. It was just hilarious to me. The course is worth playing. Also they have an all time top ten golf logo in my opinion.
Andrew C — Google review
Beautifully kept, moderately long but challenging golf. Some narrow fairways, true rolling greens, great staff. The round took a while longer because of some slightly slow play, but the carts which have an excellent and helpful GPS which is controlled to give so much info including prompts to pick up the pace, distances and hints to target zones. Being a bargain and being a very golfer filled course, the extra time there was just fine. I want to play this course many more times!

Fantastic public course. Very difficult. Several iconic holes including the 200 yard “volcano” green par 3, hole 12. No red stakes anywhere so make sure to play provisionals when your ball may be lost or you will be forced to walk back in shame for stroke and distance

Historical landmark
Montauk Lighthouse, the oldest in New York State, is a must-see attraction when visiting Montauk. Situated at Montauk Point State Park, it offers breathtaking 360-degree views of Block Island Sound and the Atlantic. This National Historic Landmark features a museum with historical documents and photographs from its early years. Climbing its 137 iron steps to reach the top provides an adventurous experience and rewards visitors with stunning panoramic vistas.
Montauk is an amazing getaway spot — highly recommended! The beaches are beautiful, the atmosphere is peaceful, and there’s something special about the mix of nature and small-town charm. Whether you’re into surfing, hiking, or just relaxing by the ocean, Montauk has something for everyone. A perfect escape from the busy city life.

Beautiful lighthouse, near the side of the lighthouse is a nice trail that leads you to the ocean side. You can traverse the beach side rocks and hunt down the numbered stepping stones. Unfortunately there's no parking on the rocks itself (check the pictures) =) There's also another pretty long trail that you can find after the rock segment. I really recommend paying a visit out here, such a serene place.
Kevin L — Google review
Very nice half day trip, amazing views, something to experience. You can climb to the top of the lighthouse. Their are bathrooms. The bathrooms and grounds are well kept and clean. Limited food on site and near by area. This is more a spring & summer trip to do. Limited gas stations ⛽️ in the area. You can do everything in about 2 hours. You will need to pay for parking $10. You also need to pay entrance fees for the lighthouse separately. Other places to visit toward the end of long Island is Greenport. Not recommended to go when raining or foggy.
Lov G — Google review
Nice visit, great views, would be a good park for a family picnic, if you don't bring food there is a restaurant on site but we didn't eat there. Bring quarters to use for observation viewers. Climb to the top of the lighthouse is moderate, your legs will burn a little; Views are worth it. Cool history, some people there were helpful, a few did not care to be there.
David H — Google review
We came here on a Sunday morning in October while traveling. We found it on the map after trying to see the Fire Island lighthouse the day before but didn’t get to climb that one. The parking lot is $8 for the day but also gets you into Camp Hero (we did not go there because of timing and ticks). We bought tickets to the lighthouse onsite when we arrived. I think they were $15/each. There are 137 steps up to the top. You can’t go outside at the top like some other places. There is a little doorway that is big enough for one person at a time to stand outside but you can’t move around. Once up there, you take turns going up 6 or 7 little steps and peek your head up where the lens is and you can see more of a view up there but it’s enclosed and not quite the same as going outside. They do limit the number of people who go up at a time and I think this is because of how little space is up there but also so that there is less traffic and people passing each other on the stairs. There is no handrail, but a rope instead - you can see in one of my steps pics. If you are going up, they tell you to move to the inside if someone is trying to come down, and let them pass you on the outside. If you are afraid of heights this could be tricky. There is a narrow set of stairs up to the very top landing and you sort of come up through a hole. To get back down from there you will need to turn around and walk backwards. It’s not hard to do, I’m just mentioning in case the thought of doing this freaks you out you might want to just look a the lighthouse from the ground. The sky is still blue and you can still see the ocean from ground level. The staff people were friendly and nice. There is a museum you go through to get to the tower and you can check that out on the way in or the way out. There is a lot of educational material housed here. Restrooms were near the gift shop near the ticket booth. The parking lot was big. We enjoyed this experience.

A very cool historical landmark. Unbelievable views of the ocean and the beach and surrounding area. One of the very cool factors is the restoration of the shoreline. Not to mention some of the A-list Hollywood celebrities that have donated to keep the lighthouse and Shoreline in such great condition.
Taylor B — Google review
There are some fantastic stories about the lighthouse and an interesting and rich history as well. The walk to the top and back down again are quite the experience. Great place to take the family for a nice day out. Montauk St. Park is right across the street and a great place to picnic or barbecue once you're done.

LOVE Montauk Lighthouse! Have been here several times, on and off-season. Have visited as a Long Island resident, and as a Connecticut resident. Day trips, and vacation stays, and it has always been a worthwhile stop. The morning sunrises watching the sun as it heads East is a spectacular sight, and the beaches nearby, both rocky and sandy are fun to explore. As a CT resident, it is a fun time taking the New London Ferry to Orient, hitting Greenport, taking a small ferry to Shelter Island, some wineries, and off to Montauk Lighthouse, is a fun day trip. It is a busy day, but worth it. And if you have the means, staying a few nights only adds to the experience. Consider a visit, you won't regret it.

The Beach Club at Gurney's Montauk is a luxurious beach bar located on a private beach, offering breathtaking ocean views and serving an array of delicious cocktails, wine, and beer alongside light bites and snacks. With a 2,000-foot-long private beach, it provides a leisurely day in the sun with a gorgeous setting and serene atmosphere. The venue offers excellent pool facilities and restaurants while also providing the option to order food and beverages to enjoy on the beach.
Solid vibe in Montauk. This is definitely the spot if you're looking for an elevated experience in Montauk. The amenities are wonderful and it's the type of place you can quite literally spend the entire day comfortably. It's also pet friendly which is everything for a person like me who always travels with their dog.

Plastic cups that can’t recycle plastic straws and plastic knives and forks you can’t recycle. Feels cheep and is not and so bad for environment and the beautiful sea we are sitting and looking at. So sad and so easy to do properly… shame as a lovely setting.

Great beach at Gurneys. Went there a lot over my stay. Had a Cabana, which was set up really nice. Service was good, but the servers didn't come by that often. The servers probably came once every two hours, but you can go up to the bar and ask for things if you need something (drinks, food, sunscreen, etc.). Food was ehh (definitely frozen), but I was there for the beach. Too be honest, I recommend just walking down and getting yourself a beach chair and umbrella, and that should work. Cabana is good if you have a large group or want to have a few couches. Overall, the beach was nice, quiet, and clean.

The Beach Club is a fantastic way to spend your afternoon. Our server Luna, went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. I've been coming to Gurneys for many years and service has been mixed but today was great and I'm looking forward to visiting again next season. Happy Labor Day!
Tracy W — Google review
Was so excited to return to Gurneys this summer, we were enjoying the music and vibe. Ordered chicken tenders and a lobster roll. After 45 minutes we were served RAW AND FROZEN chicken tenders. We discovered this after biting into the tenders. We opened up the rest and they were also raw and frozen. Ridiculous how such an expensive place can have the audacity to serve frozen and raw food after waiting for 45 minutes. We felt so sick and gross the entire ride home. Absolutely disgusted. So much for quality control… will not be returning because of this experience & it’s a shame because they opened up a new restaurant at the resort we wanted to try. Unacceptable for this to happen at an establishment like gurneys, also saw someone else posting about getting raw chicken tenders on tiktok.

A very nice and clean beach for everyone to go, whether it is in Spring, Summer or Fall season. The blue sky, the fine sands, the soothing sound of the waves and the lovely birds will give you the ultimate experience of relaxation and rejuvenation. You can also order your favorite dishes and beverages to company you while you are on the beach. Let the nature be the best therapist, and allow yourself to be absorbed in the best day dreams ocean provides.

Had a beautiful beach getaway for the night and woke up to a gorgeous sunrise on the Atlantic. Came despite it being winter and still loved being here with the quiet solitude that winter brings.

Everyone that works here is so rude, they act stuck up and nasty. I don’t understand why they act as the gatekeepers for a restaurant they couldn’t even afford to eat at themselves 7 days a week. Be nice to the people paying YOU

Puff & Putt Mini Golf & Boat Rentals is a family-owned business located near Montauk IGA and Fort Pond. The mini golf course has recently been updated with new challenging obstacles, offering a fun and nostalgic experience reminiscent of the 70s. With its picturesque view of the pond, it's an ideal spot for a leisurely game.
Super fun! The course is pretty straightforward but is a pretty fun thing to do right off the main drag in Montauk. There isn’t much shade so I don’t know how much fun I would have if the sun was out. It was the ideal night activity. It got kind of busy but I never had to wait too long. I don’t know how, but I somehow made the last putt and got a free game! The staff is friendly and you can’t beat the location. Highly recommend!
Stephanie A — Google review
A well-maintained mini-golf course with lots of pirate-themed figures, right on the lake, and plenty of other recreational activities. Plenty of fun. But $52 for four people with kids – way too expensive!
Dr. S — Google review
By S. Carrelli: Puff and Putt was so fun! Our family of 5 went on a Saturday, and it was not crowded at all. We enjoyed the mini golf course very much, it was not too easy and not too hard. The price was fair, 13 dollars per person. The whole course took us about 25 minutes, and we went pedal boating on the lake for a half hour after. Going pedal boating was an unforgettable experience. The lake was so amazing and you had a great view from Puff and Putt. It was not expensive either, pedal boating was only 35 dollars. Going to Puff and Putt was a great family outing for a summer day and I highly recommend going there. You can tell that they try super hard for you to have a great time, because everything was perfect, and very organized. I liked the pirate theme and all the props everywhere, it made it much more fun and exciting. Puff and Putt also is in the perfect location too, because the lake is right there! So, Puff and Putt is the top place to go for family fun and a great time! Arrr me hearty!

Playing mini golf at Puff & Putt is one of the cherished memories of my childhood. I returned as an adult a few weeks ago, and, had a blast playing with family. The course is well-tended and in great shape. It's a fun course -- challenging for kids and adults, alike, but, not overly so. This place is rightly regarded as a Montauk institution, and, a must-visit for groups of friends, or, family outings.

We had fun here my husband and i....BUUUTT pay attention to the hours of this place hours had said 4-7 worker came out said they were closed..he was kind of enough to let us play after they were closed! Very very easy course.Defnitley needs a facelift...I think w some proper maintenance this place can look amazing! To my knowledge its the only mini gulf place over that way,so bring the family and just have a good time:)

If you're looking for a unique sailing adventure in Montauk, look no further than Mon Tiki! These eco-friendly catamarans are inspired by traditional Polynesian designs and offer an unforgettable experience on the water. Hand-built locally and Coast Guard-certified, Mon Tiki provides options for private sunset sails or group charters. Families will love the three-hour sail and swim option, which is perfect for creating lasting memories with loved ones.
This was my second time on the Mon Tiki and it was just as magical as the first. We did a Tuesdsy sunset sail which included a 3 piece guitar group including David our Captain! The highlight of our east end trip. Can’t wait to bring more family back next year. It’s a must do!!
Tina K — Google review
My friends and I had an amazing day aboard the Mon Tiki. The owner, captan and crew were a delight to work with. We played our tunes on their blue tooth system and soaked in the sun and gorgeous views that Montauk offers.
Chrissy L — Google review
We booked the 3 hour family sail & swim and it was awesome! I’m a single mom with 3 kids under the age of 6, so naturally I was unsure how the day would go (as always LOL) but what a blast!!! Everyone was so friendly, and helpful! The crew was great, the other passengers were lovely, I could go on… Excited for this new summer tradition! If you’re going to visit Montauk, take some time to visit Mon Tiki! ❤️

We sailed with Capt. Dave & crew for Tiki Tuesday earlier in the week & it was such an awesome time. Beautiful boat, relaxing vibe, great live music, and a perfect sunset. Can’t wait to do it again next season.

This our third time sailing with Mon Tiki. Captain Dave is awesome! He was very patient with us (we were late). He taught our 4.5 y.o. son a couple of things about sailing. We had a great conversation and exchanged interesting stories. The weather was beautiful, it was relaxing, the entire experience was amazing! We will definitely do this again next year. :-)

Sunset Beach is a lesser-known gem that offers a perfect setting for watching the sunset. Situated near Haven Montauk, it features a small metal step-ladder leading to the beach from the road. While not ideal for swimming, this quiet beach is great for leisurely strolls, photography, and simply enjoying the ocean waves as the sun dips below the horizon.
Aptly named SUNSET BEACH. Chil crowd, relatively easy to park. A slee of restaurants, bars, marinas are available. Still reminds me of old Montauk.

The sunset in Sunset Beach was beautiful. We walked out to the rock path extending into the water off the beach. It’s fun. Just be careful not to slip or miss a step.

Good small, local beach and I like that is less people and more local than commercial beach. My friend who lives here was surprised that i stay nearby here place and she asked me to meet at this beach. I prepare my umbrella and mat and she told me off season I can bring my dog anytime no limit like in the summer. I sat on the beach, get some tan and enjoy vacation with my dog.
