Specialty Museums
Nestled in the heart of Dahlonega, the Dahlonega Gold Museum Historic Site offers a captivating glimpse into the region's rich mining history and its role in America's first gold rush. Housed within the historic Old Lumpkin County Courthouse, which dates back to 1836, this museum showcases an impressive array of artifacts from the gold rush era. Visitors can marvel at gold coins, nuggets, and antique panning equipment that tell tales of adventure and fortune.
The museum is located at the heart of Dahlonega’s historic town square and occupies the old Lumpkin County Courthouse—one of Georgia’s oldest, dating back to 1836. It chronicles America’s first major gold rush and the short-lived U.S. Branch Mint that operated here between 1838 and 1861, minting over $6 million in gold coins.

My wife & I took our grandsons here. $120 for the 4 of us to tour the mines & experience planning for gold (& keeping some mined rocks/crystals) was a little pricey for me, but I guess it just depends on your need for entertainment & historic knowledge !?! Personally, I’d never do this again…but that’s me. It was professionally organized & enriching flowed smoothly. Or tour guide was great & he seemed to love his job !?!🤩
Triple R — Google review
This Museum was so interesting! I didn't know that we had a US Mint in Georgia! The Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend everyone to stop by and take a step back into History at the Dahlonega Gold Museum.
KCMD D — Google review
The museum is very interesting. I wasn't aware of Georgia's mining history and learned a lot. Make sure you watch the film. It's very informative. Also, take the time to open the display cabinets. There are very interesting artifacts inside.
David H — Google review
Neat historic museum situated in an early 1800s courthouse building. Lots of cool displays about the north GA goldrush with actual gold nuggets and coins to see. Well done museum film upstairs that was very informative about the gold rush. Fun little gift shop with a pressed penny machine, as well! We enjoyed it!
Casey M — Google review
Just as a note, the main museum is up a flight of steep stairs, so be prepared. The museum is small but packed with interesting information. It covers the Georgia gold rush and gold mining in Georgia, the history of the courthouse itself, and the (short lived) Dahlonega Federal Mint. While a little expensive, a gold mine (ha!) of local history. The volunteer guide are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Sean H — Google review
Nice place to get to know a piece of history. The video run takes back thru the days of gold rush. Apart from that the artifacts on display are worth a visit for $10.

Retired gold mine, which was the first to open in US history. The tour is interesting, although I didn't spot any gold from the rocks. Lol

Canopy + the Roots Coffee is a unique and vibrant space that offers a blend of experiences. The venue features an underground listening room with a speakeasy vibe, where artists and audiences come together. Upstairs, there's a glass studio for yoga enthusiasts, while the social house serves up hot Costa Rican coffee. The decor style is praised for its appeal, and visitors can even purchase soft shirts with charming designs representing Canopy & The Roots.
Stopped in at Canopy and the roots for coffee while exploring Dahlonega. And wow The coffee was so smooth and delicious! The inside is beautiful and uniquely decorated. Loved the atmosphere. Also super busy location but the barista was so friendly patient and kind with all the customers. I will definitely recommend 10/10 ☕️ 🤎 if only it were closer to home (Alabama) this would be my morning coffee spot!
Komi M — Google review
Coffee Shop No. 474 Canopy + the Roots Coffee Dalhonega, GA March 10, 2025 Canopy + the Roots Coffee gave me the impression that community is their focus. It looks like a typical coffee shop with bright natural light, plants in the window (which I think were fake), and fantastic coffee. When you start to explore a bit you learn the shop has so much more to offer like yoga classes, live music, comedy shows, and merchandise from local artists. The barista was sweet too. University of North Georgia is right around the corner so I imagine Canopy + Roots Coffee is a second home to many of them. The cortado was placed in ceramic cup with no handles; kinda like a bowl. It cradled perfectly in my hand. It was served a little on the cool side, but it was my favorite cortado in Dahlonega. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Visiting from Florida and cannot say enough great things about Dylan and Diane! They were awesome! I got a blueberry basil cold brew and it was delicious, the employees were telling me about the area and even giving me recommendations which I appreciated. If you’re in the area I recommend stopping by, you won’t regret it! Also the ambience is very welcoming and cozy, nice little place to relax.

We went to Canopy + the Roots Coffee and just fell in love with the place. Such a great setting and the coffee was great. We never had coffee before with oat milk but I will tell you that it was great. The peanut butter latte hot is a must.

I really love this place! It's a nice place to get coffee or tea. And it's a great place to go to see live performances downstairs without traveling a long ways away. I've been to 3 and had a good time every time. The place is attractively decorated.
Lanie — Google review
Maybe we got them on a bad day, but the staff was pretty cold towards us. Sadly, the quality of the coffee didn’t make up for the poor service. After buying two coffee drinks we asked for a glass or cup for water, which we were refused. We were told we had to buy a bottle. It’s pretty bad when you have to pay extra for water at a place that clearly has a working sink and can provide tap water. A little bit of warm service would go a long way.
Sullivan C — Google review
I was surprised to discover a new coffee shop had opened up right under my nose when I wasn’t paying attention. This is comfortable, well-decorated place with great energy, attractive furnishings, and friendly staff. There is an adjacent yoga studio next to the upstairs coffee space and a music listening room in the basement. I even noticed that one of my favorite musicians has been booked to perform there this weekend- bonus! The coffee is good and the snacks are tasty. The idea of opening a place like this must have been a good one, because there was already a great crowd of happy-looking enthusiastic customers, including students and locals. This is already looking like an excellent addition to the neighborhood and I’m expecting success for this worthwhile venture. Check it out.

Nestled in the picturesque North Georgia Mountains, the Consolidated Gold Mine in Lumpkin County is a captivating destination that takes you back to the heart of the 1800s gold rush. Originally established in 1887 and welcoming visitors since 1965, this historic site offers an immersive underground tour that plunges guests 200 feet below ground. Here, you can discover how gold was mined and learn about its fascinating journey from earth to treasure.
The tour guide had an amazing job. He was the great one. It was my first time exploring gold mine and it was totally worth it!!! This place is amazing. There were a lot of stories to be told and some tools still work which so surprised me. The floor is a little bit slippery, be careful. And a lot of stairs, be ready to walk a lot. They have charms in every corners inside. Worth for visit for sure.
T-bone_Skv — Google review
Carolyn was our tour guide and she was fantastic! The tour was very fun and educational. At the end of the tour, we got to pan for gold. The staff were very helpful and informative. We were able to take home the gold we found in small vials. We also did a gem bucket. The staff frequently checked on us to make sure we were doing well and they answered our questions about the rocks we found. All of the staff were just so friendly and helpful.
Tina H — Google review
Very cool and educational tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and added some humor into the tour. My advice would be if you’re cold natured bring a long sleeve shirt or jacket to wear on the tour- it’s chilly. Also would wear close-toed shoes, it’s wet and rocky. Just about everyone had mud on the backs of their pants legs from walking down the narrow stairs, so wear some pants and shoes you wouldn’t mind getting dirty. Overall would highly recommend!
Lila W — Google review
This was easily one of our favorite experiences on our trip to Dahlonega! It was so cool and educational for our entire family. Our tour guide was great both informative and funny and we really enjoyed every part of the tour. Then we did some gem mining after and I highly recommend adding that as part of your experience especially if you have little ones. They get to keep their gems and my boys are already planning to put them in a cool cabinet when we get home! Everyone was super nice and they have a TON of cool stuff in the gift shop.
Rose P — Google review
This was our first time checking out a gold mine, and we had such a great time! The tour was really informative, and our guide was awesome—he made the whole experience super enjoyable. We also got to try gold panning, and we even got to keep a little bit of the gold we found. Overall, a super cool experience and totally worth the visit!
Anburaja B — Google review
This was a great experience going underground, and the guide was really good, knowledgeable, and explained everything very clearly. Kids really enjoyed this activity at ages 12 and 14. Got the history of what it was like during the gold rush and being a miner. Kids enjoyed panning for gold afterwards and they enjoyed the store and we even got to see and meet the man in the pictures with the long beard which was cool. 10/10 recommend. I only took a Star away because the cashier lady in the overalls took tickets which were for crisson gold mine AND consolidated gold mine, so when we went to go to Crisson afterwards the only tickets I had left were one for crisson and one for consolidated (for one person), but I handed over 3 tickets for each consolidated and crisson (they come attached), but I had my receipt showing I just purchased the tickets earlier from the Dahlonega visits center, and we were able to enter without an issue, however if I didn’t have my receipt from the visitors center, I may of had a issue entering.

This tour has a very interesting history, it also highlights the unfortunate exposure of past workers to hazardous working conditions. It is not ideal for individuals with mobility issues due to the presence of stairs and steep pathways that can become extremely slippery. It is essential to wear non skid shoes and hats for protection, as water drips from the ceiling. Notably, other cave tours ( other states )provide helmets for added safety.
IC U — Google review
Our guide, Chandler, was excellent. He did an especially great job with my son. He kept his attention and shared a lot of great information. We got there right when they opened at 10 am. The first tour didn’t leave until 10:30, but they let us do our (included) gold panning before the tour so between that and the gift shop the wait went quickly. The staff at the panning section was extremely helpful in both explaining how to do it and just generally assisting. My son ended up with no gold in his pan but they made sure he still went home with a fleck or two (my husband wasn’t so lucky though lol) Our tour was between 45-50 mins. We also bought the smallest gem bucket ($30) and both of my kids split it. The women at the counter tried to upsell me to the $50 bucket for both kids but the $30 was plenty. They each got a bag of gems and were happy with what they got. I’d recommend allocating about two hours here. This will definitely be a core memory for my kids. Definitely recommend.

Crisson Gold Mine, located in Lumpkin County, offers a unique opportunity for visitors to delve into the world of mining and gain insights into the historical significance of gold mining during the Georgia gold rush. As the oldest gold mining establishment open to the public in North Georgia, it provides a glimpse into its commercial operations dating back to 1847. The site features well-preserved antique machinery such as stamp mills, rod mills, and jaw crushers that were once used for extracting gold from quartz rock.
I had the absolute best time at Crissons. It was my first time panning for gold and gem mining, and it by far exceeded my expectations. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I was so pleased with my gems that we purchased an additional bucket to mine and I was not disappointed. This place is great and the value can't be beat. If I am in the area again, I will definitely go back.

We had an amazing visit this past weekend! The employees are all extremely nice and knowledgeable and the prices are fantastic. We did gem mining and got so many gorgeous stones. I was very impressed and look forward to visiting again the next time I’m in Georgia!
Kristen F — Google review
Absolutely Beautiful and wonderful experience. We did the general admission and high grade 5 gallon gemstones. We plan on making a yearly trip to Georgia just for the Crisson Gold mine. Got a lot of Beautiful gemstones about four ziplock bags full of them and cannot wait to get a custom cut on one the next time around.

My family and I had so much fun at Crisson Gold Mine! Luke helped explain how to do the panning for gold and made the kids and I laugh. Loved the shaking part for gems. We found a bunch of gems! The kids bought a geode to break open and Luke helped them pick out the biggest one and best one. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time together here. We received excellent support and everything was explained to us in great detail. I would definitely recommend it and would come back anytime.

My husband and I went to Crisson Gold Mine over Halloween weekend and it was such an amazing experience, from beginning to end. Tammy was so sweet and kind from the moment we walked in. The gentleman that assisted us with the actual "mining" process, Luke, was also super nice and very informative. Tammy's daughter, Brianna, was just as sweet as her mother and absolutely wonderful when assisting us with our jewelry order. I look forward to coming back with the kids next time!
Yadiela L — Google review
Tammy and her husband are wonderful and so are the employees. Husband bought me a $50 gem bag and we were NOT disappointed. Well worth the value and then some. I may be a little biased since GiWYFI is my husband 😆 but crisson is where its at. There's so much cool history to learn and tour at the mine, so many crystal purchasing options, wonderful types of jewelry, aarons gold to view, and the atmosphere is family friendly. Not to mention the gold prospecting equipment you can purchase at the mine. Will definitely return in the future. 🙂

The Crimson Moon is a cozy venue known for its live music and open mic nights, offering a laid-back atmosphere and Southern cuisine. The establishment features an intimate setting with a small stage for live entertainment. Visitors can enjoy dishes like cheese curds, cod sandwiches, seasoned sweet potato fries, spinach artichoke dip, and unique grilled cheese with fried cheese casing. The bar also showcases local artwork for sale and vibrant murals on the walls.
I have only been wanting to find this bar since the song came out in 2017. I finally made it happen! The food was great it has some really cool artwork for sale and some really cool murals painted on the wall. My only regret was going on a Sunday, they didn't have any live music playing while we were there. The whole small town dive bar scene is amazing. We were in Dalonegah earlier in the day and went and explored the gold museum and the mines. I had no idea the bar was within walking distance of where we were while exploring the town. The staff were really sweet and helpful! I hope to go back someday!
Amber A — Google review
Quaint little spot for lunch. We started with cheese curds for appetizer. Yum!My husband got the cod sandwich. Said it was good, yet nothing stood out. He got the seasoned sweet potato fries. Seasoned sweetly. I got the grilled cheese. Suffice it to say I was very surprised when it was placed in front of me. It was presented vertically because the cheese was also fried on the outside of the bread. While it was an interesting presentation, I found it difficult to eat. I ended up using a knife and fork and it was still difficult. Tasted good, but I wouldn't order again as I'm the type of person that doesn't like to work at eating their food. I would go back to dine there, but just get something different.

Best chicken fried steak I ever did have! Not drowned in gravy, just the right amount. They even made my over hard eggs perfect, whenever I ask for this I still get a runny egg but not at the Crimson Moon.

The Crimson Moon 🌙 used to be my friends hangout for poetry readings & music! They have a small stage and we're getting ready for live entertainment Saturday night! I had the spinach artichoke dip with chips that was delicious and my friend had an incredible grilled cheese that was finished off with a CHEESE casing on the outside! The salad was also good and mostly eaten before I remembered to take the pic!

Chicken and dumpling soup is phenomenal. Pickle Fries also very tasty. Meatloaf sandwich nothing to write home about. Exceptionally slow service. 15 minute wait for check. Food delivery was also very slow. Restaurant was almost empty....

The food here is very unique and tasty. The servers are friendly, but based on staffing always seem overwhelmed and your table can go unattended. They have live music but you have to buy tickets for that. The do not offer military discount.

Dahlonega Walking Tours offers a range of walking tours that cater to different interests, from exploring the town's history to discovering its wineries and pubs, as well as delving into its haunted past. The Grapes and Ghosts Wine Tour takes visitors to five locations in Dahlonega's square for wine tastings and spooky tales. The Historic Ghost Tour includes stops at the historic courthouse, the most haunted restaurant in the square - the Crimson Moon, and landmark residences around the area.
I planned this tour for my wife on her 50th Birthday weekend, she is a bit of a Ghost whisperer and she has always see's them and feels their presence. This was a fabulous (but cold) night tour!! We went at 8pm and it was about 2.125 hours long so you are definitely getting your monies worth. I hate the cold and I wore a beanie, neck warmer and gloves and jacket and still was chilled to the bone, regardless it was a blast learning about the history of the town, the stories of ghost sightings and such. The owner is very knowledgeable and well versed on all the history of Dahlonega which was great because we love to learn about the history of the places we travel to. She was able to answer all our questions. We left feeling like we had made a new friend. I highly recommend this companies tours through the city!! If your into drinking they also have a Pub Crawl, we don't drink so we opted for this one.

My mom and I were in the area for the weekend and decided last minute to do the escape room in early afternoon and walking ghost tour that night. The escape room was one of the hardest I’ve done, in a good way! The challenge was great and we had fun. The ghost tour was definitely more of a historic tour with some anecdotal experiences and stories mixed in, but that was perfectly fine with us. We’ve visited Dahlonega several times over the years and I heard a lot of things I’ve never heard before. But if you’re looking for a super spooky tour, this isn’t it.
Nichole N — Google review
I can’t recommend Dahlonega Walking Tours & Wine Tasting enough! It was the perfect mix of history, charm, and incredible wine. The wine was well chosen, the guide was fantastic, and it was such a fun way to experience the town. A must-do in Dahlonega!

We brought our kids (ages 5 & 9) to the kids ghost tour last weekend and they had an absolute blast! Mary Jane is an exceptional guide & story teller. We never wanted it to end. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone thinking about bringing their family. It was worth every penny.
Megan R — Google review
I booked the children's ghost tour with my 12 year old daughter and my 4 year old son. We were the only ones there and I was a little worried my son would become bored but Mary Jane (our tour guide) was so sweet and fun! She is a great story teller and funny! I felt like it was more of a historical tour with some ghost stories mixed in, but both my kids, especially my daughter, stayed focused and interesting in all the stories we heard! She even got them a couple of treats from the Connie's ice cream shop and the chocolate store as well. We enjoyed this a lot! Definitely something to put on your to-do list when visiting Dahlonega! (Although I did this on a different occasion, I highly recommend the wine tasting here as well. They have the loveliest tasting room overlooking the Square and the wine was great!)

My 7yo son and I wanted to enjoy a little spooky fun on Friday evening, so I booked us the ghost walk tour. We arrived at the town square early and had dinner at Bourbon Street Grille (big yum btw!). Then it was on to the tour! When we got there, it turned out we were the only folks there for the tour that night. The guide was so nice and welcoming, and let us have a look around their very cool and spooky office area. My son, being 7, wasn’t too interested in the history part at the beginning, but the guide was totally prepared for this. She brought out some cool magnetic building shapes and let him play with those while she talked through the beginning portion of the town history with me in the office. After that we hit the street for the walking part of the tour. It was a pretty easy walk. We took a leisurely pace and stopped frequently at different locations to hear the history and ghost stories associated with them. Our guide was a wealth of information and was happy to answer any questions we had along the way. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and learned about some of the other local attractions (the gold mines, gold museum) that we are definitely going to have to make another trip up here to visit. I loved the fact that the stories we heard on this tour were actual accounts of real experiences that people living and working in the town have had. So many ‘ghost tours’ just have mostly made-up or highly embellished stories purely to entertain thrill seekers. This was so much better. It is absolutely worth the drive to come check out this tour! I’ll be going again for sure, and bringing friends the next time!

Our Grapes & Ghosts tour was so fun! It was a great way to learn the history of Dahlonega, hear some paranormal stories, and taste local wines! Penny was a great story teller and host!

This was a fabulous (but cold) night tour!! Our tour guide took her time, even though there were only two of us, and shared so many stories of the area. We had an amazing experience on the Dahlonega wine tour! Beautiful views, tasty wine, and yummy pizza at the wolf winery! Our driver Cade took the whole experience up a notch! The bus the was clean and comfortable and a speaker was provided so that we could play our own music. 10/10 recommend.

What a wonderful experience! We were celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary. The four wineries we visited were beautiful with great wine samples. We had Cade as our driver and he was the BEST! He was very accommodating of the groups requests and was very personable. I would definitely recommend the tour!

Our group of 5 did a private tour & had the best experience with Dahlonega Wine Tours! The booking process was so smooth & our driver Cade made the day even better! He was so much fun & so attentive. We will definitely book again!

The Dahlonega Wine Tour was the perfect experience for a girls getaway weekend, especially for the first time visiting the area. The wine and views were spectacular, even breath taking. Our tour guide, Seth, was punctual, engaging, knowledgable, and a gentleman. I highly recommend!

Yahoola Creek Park, nestled in a valley cut by Yahoola Creek, is a charming green space perfect for families. The park offers various amenities such as a community garden, playground, butterfly and frog habitats, picnic areas, and sports courts for soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, and tennis. Additionally, it features hiking trails suitable for all levels of hikers and provides beautifully carved walking sticks at the wildflower gardens kiosk.
Great hike! Approx 4 miles. Beautiful hiking paths. Really love the new cut trails which added some mileage. Love the baths. Also very nice addition!

What a cool park! My kids had a blast wading and playing in the water and the scenery was beautiful!

This is a fantastic local park. It has ballfields for young sports teams. However, it also has multiple trails, a playground, and pavilions in a beautiful setting for your family. It is a bit of a drive back to the park from the main roads. However, there is plenty of parking.
Mark M — Google review
Really awesome spot for a picnic lunch and hanging out. Something for everyone, from hiking trails, playing on playground, walking by the creek. And the best part was that everywhere is kept clean you can really tell people care about keeping this spot beautiful which was awesome to experience
Rose P — Google review
We loved this park. There were 2 playgrounds. One is gated, and it seems like it is for older kids, and it was quite nobody around. The other one is not gated, but it seems like it's for younger kids. It was a bit busy. But my daughter had fun. There is a creek that runs thru the park. It is very peaceful and relaxing.
Sarah J — Google review
Beautiful hiking area with playgrounds and bridges. Not sure why the listing currently says that it doesn’t open until 2 pm on Sundays but it was definitely open Sunday morning by 8 am— possibly even earlier?
Jessica T — Google review
One of Dahlonega's and Lumpkin County's greatest treasures, Yahoola Creek Park offers something for nearly everyone. Got kids? Bring them to play in the creek, at the splash pad, on the playground, or on of the numerous athletic fields. Many of the local sports leagues practice here. Like Nature? There are a couple miles of hiking trails, places to bird, garden areas, and great opportunities for birders (diverse habitat with ample forage). You can also fish in the creek, or simply sit on one of the many benches and soak it all in. Want to exercise? You'll find plenty of places to walk, run, play tennis, etc.
Norm L — Google review
This is my new favorite park. Whenever my wife and I have a chance we try to explore new parks in new places. This park is nestled in a very peaceful spot. The way it is set up this park has something for everyone. We walked the trail tiday and were able to enjoy the cteek and see some little critters along the way. Definitely a great park to go to. We will be going back very soon.

Located in downtown Dahlonega, the Holly Theatre is a historic venue that has been through a rich history. Originally established in 1948, it was once used for silent movies and later fell into disuse before being renovated and reopened. Today, it hosts a variety of events including live music, spoken word performances, comedy shows, and dance events. The theater is known for its diverse range of offerings from family-friendly concerts to headline talent performances and tribute-style shows.
What a wonderful way to remind me how old I am! The English Invasion performed hours of the memory making songs and ballads that got us through our 1960's and 70"s and are just as powerful today. My feeble old brain remembered a surprising amount of the words that I sang all through these years (my husband was amazed!). Not only the fabric four, but the Animals, Kinks, and Stones, and mant more shaggy headed lads brought back flashes from the past. The Holly remembered this music as well because the isles were dancing! Thank you, Holly Theater for bringing back such great memories!

A1A Jimmy Buffett Tribute at the Holly Theater – What a Blast! I had such a great time at the A1A Jimmy Buffett tribute show at the Holly Theater in Dahlonega! The band was awesome—super talented and really nailed the Buffett vibe. What really made it special were the two pirate sidekicks. They were hilarious and had me laughing the whole night with their skits. They added so much fun to the show. If you get a chance to see A1A live, go for it! It’s a fun, feel-good time from start to finish.

We love it here. We've seen two performances of the children's/youth theater. We saw Aladdin Jr. and Frozen Jr. over the last few months. Great value, fun little theatre and just a wonderful small town vibe going on. So thankful this place and the people involved are here for us to enjoy. Thank You!

My daughter and I DJ-ed the after-party at Holly Theater for their VIP on New Year's Eve. The Chicago Transit Authority tribute band performed a tremendous concert inside the theater leading up to our portion. The acoustics in the decades old hall were phenomenal! Staff showed the ball dropping in Times Square on the theater's big screen. The entire evening was a benefit to bring in funds that will continue providing support for restoration of the beautiful structure. With many big shows to come in the near future, it would be worth watching to follow the gorgeous renovation.

Canoe & kayak rental service
Chestatee River Adventures offers an exciting experience for visitors to the Chestatee River with guided kayaking and tubing trips. The company provides a variety of equipment, including single and tandem kayaks as well as rubber tubes, along with shuttle services to and from the base camp near Dahlonega City. Renting kayaks includes life jackets and paddles, with a 2-hour trip duration.
Friendly very helpful. New restaurant was good. Typical food though. Can’t beat the view of the River!
Kellie P — Google review
We had an awesome time on the Chestatee River! Booking our kayaks online with Chestatee River Adventures was a breeze—super fast and straightforward. I liked that you can cancel up to 24 hours ahead if your plans change, but trust me, you won’t want to. We showed up a bit early for our 10 a.m. slot, and the staff had us checked in, shuttled over, and out on the water in record time. Their new building makes check-in easy, and they follow you out so your car is waiting at the take-out spot (so convenient). Jessie gave us a quick, friendly ride back to the office, and it’s just a short walk to the river where the kayaks are ready to go. Everyone we met was beyond friendly and helpful. Once you’re on the river, it’s about a 2.5-hour trip, and while you might hear a little highway noise at first, it fades fast and you’re left floating through peaceful, scenic stretches. We counted at least 50 turtles sunning themselves along the way! The rapids aren’t crazy or intimidating, but they’re definitely exciting—just enough to keep things interesting. Getting out at the end was a breeze too; the staff was there to help and our car was waiting right where we left it. If you’re looking for a fun, relaxing adventure near Dahlonega, definitely check out Chestatee River Adventures. Highly recommend!

We've been going here for years, since it was little more than a shed. The crew have always been top notch, friendly, and overall fantastic to work with. They have a sense of humor and treat us well with every visit. I drive 3 hours just to kayak with them. The only reason to go anywhere else is when we want a more difficult water experience. Chestatee is all about relaxing and enjoying nature.
Ember ( — Google review
We had a great experience this past weekend. The staff on the phone and in person are very friendly. The process was easy from making the reservation to getting in the water. I do wish they told you ahead of time somewhere that you have to follow them in your car to the water exit point. It would have helped from getting everyone out of the car to get back in. (I might have missed this detail in the fine print somewhere) But that is a tiny detail compared to the fun and relaxing time we had. Also loved seeing the 28205 turtles throughout. Would come back and would recommend to anyone thinking of going.
Domenic P — Google review
The boys had a blast. Lots of places for them to get out and play in the water. Turtles and birds.
Kassandra W — Google review
Extremely professional and nice place to take your family on a wonderful tubing adventure. The people that run this place are more than kind and humble. Definitely a worthwhile experience that you will never forget. Would recommend to anybody seeking a tubing adventure; even more recommended than a Helen tubing adventure!‼️ The water is deeper than 2in❗️❗️ More so of a genuine tubing experience. Very nice sandbars along the way for family to stop and jump in the water. And if the tubing is not enough for you, then they have a wonderful raft/canoe experience as well. Bring your own tube or canoe or rent one from them Tourist and locals welcome alike, And customer service you’ll never forget. 10 out of 10.
Erin C — Google review
This was a great experience! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Kayaks were ready for us when we got there. We had a beautiful time floating down the river. Our kids had an absolute blast! This is our second time doing this and it has been a wonderful experience both times!
Kendall W — Google review
Great experience! From our youngest at 6 years old to our oldest and matron at 82 years old. Wonderful experience. We also brought our dog along, and it was perfectly safe. There were other dogs around, too. For the kids and our elder, we were able to connect the tubes. We just asked upon arrival for ties. Our party involved 9 adults and 3 kids so we called ahead since the website says to call for a parter greater than 10 for reservations, however, when we called they just encouraged to get there closer to their opening time (10am) to ensure the trip for all of us.

11Paranormal Escape Room

Step into the world of mystery and intrigue with the Paranormal Escape Room, an immersive experience that delves deep into Prohibition-era Georgia. This escape room is an extension of the Dahlonega Walking Tours, offering a paranormal-themed adventure that will test your wits and teamwork. Uncover clues, solve puzzles, and piece together the story as you navigate through this thrilling challenge.
I took my teenagers and we had a great time. It’s challenging but not impossible. It’s just one small room that fits 4 people max so you don’t have to worry about being stuck with strangers. My only suggestion for improvement is to have sturdier locks that are easier to operate. Would recommend.
Craig W — Google review
Not worth it - I love Dahlonega and there are many better ways in the area to spend the day. If you want an escape room, there are some in neighboring towns I’d recommend instead. We had a reservation at 1pm on a Sunday (which we booked around 10am the day of) but it was locked when we arrived. We called and the voicemail said to please send a text, which we did. When the game master arrived around 1:15, she noted that she checked reservations the night before and didn’t see any so she didn’t come in. She then needed 10 minutes to reset the room, delaying our plans even more. She also noted that the voicemail that notes to send texts directs you to an office phone and she doesn’t see any of the texts. When we got in the room, things continued to disappoint. You need black light flashlights for the room, two of which weren’t charged and one died after a few minutes. She noted that they weren’t charged the night prior. We used the single working flashlight to figure out the first two codes, but even after we got the numbers correct, some of the locks did not open. The game master confirmed the numbers, but we had to bring the box out onto the porch to show her that the boxes weren’t opening (if you want a clue you have to leave the room as she does not monitor the room). We spent ~15 minutes (she never stopped the clock) on the second box that even she struggled to open. When we got to the final box, which is glued to the floor, we could not open the lock again, even after she confirmed our code. In the end, she herself couldn’t get the box to open and kept saying she needed to spray WD40 on it because people kept saying they were having trouble with the locks lately. It was very disappointing that she knew of the issue but chose not to resolve it before accepting more bookings. Even though two locks malfunctioned, one of which the game master herself never got open, we weren’t offered a partial refund, or any acknowledgement of the fact that this was not up to par. The room is also EXTREMELY dark. If you have any vision impairment, this is not for you. Offering two stars because even though the game master was late and unresponsive and the room itself had two malfunctioning locks, the narrative of the escape room was good (even though it has no tie to paranormal activity as the name suggests) and the clues did lend themselves to solving the overall puzzle.

GREAT ESCAPE ROOM!!! I came with two people and was really difficult! We had to ask several times for help. We unfortunately only got to the second clue but the nice lady walked us through it. If you going to go here make sure to bring 3-5 people! And check EVERYWHERE! We will most likely be coming back with more people. It may be small but really fun. When we walked in it was a little confusing finding the place but we did. When we walked in we were greeted kindly by the lady and her cute dog. We love going to escape rooms but this room was something else! Highly recommended!

So fun! My husband and I did this escape room this past weekend while we were in town for our babymoon. The room host was a gem and I loved that the premise of the escape room was based on Dahlonega history! It was just the two of us and we escaped with about five minutes to go. Highly recommend!

We loved this escape room!! It was challenging and definitely took us a while to complete, but was so worth it!! Definitely something fun to do in town!
Madison N — Google review
Our group came to Dahlonega specifically for this escape room. Three out of the four of us have been through multiple escape rooms before, with one novice. Due to a "glitch" in the accessibility of the clues we were able to solve the room in less than ten minutes. It ruined the experience and ended up being a waste of money. Found out that this was not the first time it had happened either. 😭 I already would not classify the room as paranormal. Three stars due to the sweet dog Clarence, and the room host who was simply kind, energetic, and a joy to be around!
Kira K — Google review
My daughters, 17 and 11, and I had a great time here! My youngest wanted to leave a review, so here she is: This is a great Escape Room and I had a lot of fun, although we took at least 15 minutes on the first one, once we figured out the first bit towards the answer to the first case/box, I managed to figure out from the a page given for the Escape Room and after that it got progressively easier, but it was a challenge that my family and I enjoyed. We managed to finish with only 30 seconds left on the timer! Which was nerve-racking, but that made it more fun! I recommend if you go to Dahlonega that you go here and challenge yourself to this escape room!
Amanda V — Google review
I had an awesome experience exploring the escape room with my family! We had so much fun searching for and piecing together all of the clues to solve the mystery-- it was an exciting experience for all of us. Definitely a great start to our stay in Dahlonega.
