State Parks
Presque Isle Park in Marquette, Michigan is a 323-acre peninsula that extends into Lake Superior. It's a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, offering wooded trails, lakeside cliffs, picnic facilities, and a concert bandshell. Visitors can enjoy activities such as hiking, swimming, picnicking, and nature observation. The park also features the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse and provides opportunities to watch freighters heading to the ore docks.
We visited on a very rainy, cold day but despite the weather, it was still a stunning place. Everything is well kept with restrooms and picnic areas throughout. The many trails throughout the park lead to great views. We stayed about an hour and a half, but you could easily spend a half day here if you did more trails and overlooks.

AMAZING VIEWS!!! We live by Lake Michigan and although it can be choppy and the waves are pretty rough, it does not compare to the power of Lake Superior! But the VIEWS are what is so awesome! Wonderful walking path to view all this beauty! If you go out to see the Black Rocks, BE SURE to wear appropriate shoes!!! Very rough terrain to reach them, but worth it if you are physically able. I would definitely come back here when in the area:)
Kathy T — Google review
Absolutely spectacular! We always have our furbabies with us so we don’t stay for long but each time we come we discover something new and magical. Visitors beware there are certain hours the road is closed to vehicles to allow for bike and foot traffic, also that dogs are not allowed outside of the vehicle. An absolute joy to visit!
Elizabeth P — Google review
Beautiful! For those not from the area, its located in Marquette which is a very cute town. Its the perfect mix of trails and downtown. The trails are very easy, not intense so good for beginner hikers. Beautiful views of the lake and the black rocks are very cool!
Rachael H — Google review
Beautiful views of the lake and black rocks. A good mix of more fun and challenging hiking paths, as well as easier and serene ones through the woods. You can also drive through a one way that loops around the peninsula if you wish or walk along the road for a more direct path to the black rocks on foot. If you take some of the harder trails, be careful particularly on the side of some of the hills. Some are quite steep on the side of the path.
Ben — Google review
Stopped in over the Labor Day Weekend, my wife wanted to check out the Black Rocks. I knew nothing about them until we walked out and saw a large number of people jumping off into the water. We were not suited to indulge at this time, but it looked to be fun. Also, walked the breakwall near the ore dock. This looks like a great place to spend summer time when in the area again.

A must see when visiting Marquette. This beautiful park situated on Lake Superior has beautiful vistas, natural forested area and waters edge areas. I highly recommend Presque Isle Park.

Nestled in the heart of Marquette on Baraga Avenue, the Upper Peninsula Children's Museum is a delightful haven for families with children aged 1 to 13. This beloved institution has been captivating young minds for over 25 years with its engaging and interactive exhibits that delve into natural science, culture, and history. Kids can explore fascinating topics through hands-on experiences like the Fantastic Forest exhibit, which offers a playful woodland environment without any of the outdoor mess.
My 5 year old son had a wonderful time here. This place is fantastic for kids to play and use their imagination. He loved it so much that we went back the very next day!
Kelly M — Google review
We brought our 9 and 10 year-old children here for an afternoon. They were very well entertained for two hours and we probably could have stayed longer. They enjoyed playing in the grocery store, enjoyed the airplane, news casting on the green screen, and playing inside a human head. They have a really good variety of exhibits and so many opportunities to look, touch, and play. The museum is a little worn, which the kids don't care about, except that it means some things weren't functional. The telephones were really cool, but you can barely hear each other. The kids were really excited to see the recycling center and wanted to create something new, but it was so messy and disorganized that they abandoned it almost immediately, and the electricity exhibit would be so well served by the circuit they can close to light things up, but it doesn't work. It was a fun time, good value, and I would highly recommend going (I think any age up to 11 or 12 would really enjoy this), just know that a few exhibits don't work well.
Zuri B — Google review
Okay, so Marquette's children's museum is so cool!! Designed with the assistance of 9 year olds, this interactive world was built in 1997. Surrounded by fun, creativity, and learning, the kiddos get to safely explore and play. Reptile exhibits are opened by staff so children can hold and interact woth tortoises, snakes, and more. It's so much fun for children and their adults!
Sam ( — Google review
Some of the negative reviews say this place is dirty and the staff unkind. I felt everyone was welcoming, and of course a -children’s- museum is probably not the cleanest environment ever because of play and crafts! Fun toys, fun exhibits and lots of animals!
Carson R — Google review
This is a great place, especially on rainy days, for kids to explore and play their hearts out. We pretty much opened and closed the building down and the kids never lost interest.
Sadye H — Google review
The Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum is a fantastic spot for kids to learn, play, and explore. It’s packed with creative, hands-on exhibits that encourage curiosity—from science and art to pretend-play and sensory activities. Each section feels thoughtfully designed to keep children engaged, with plenty of interactive elements for all ages. The space is colorful, inviting, and easy to navigate, and there’s a great mix of physical play areas and quieter learning corners. Staff are friendly and clearly passionate about making the experience fun and safe. It’s an especially great stop for families visiting Marquette, giving kids a chance to burn off energy while learning in a playful, inspiring environment.

What a fun gem downtown! So much to explore for kids of all ages.

Maritime museum
The Marquette Harbor Lighthouse, a striking red-and-white tower built in 1853, has been guiding ships to safety for decades. Visitors can explore the lighthouse and enjoy stunning views of Lake Superior, as well as learn about maritime history at the onsite museum. The surrounding area offers plenty to see and do, including Presque Isle Park, full-service marinas, historic buildings, museums, and recreational opportunities.
We couldn't take the tour because it was already sold out when we got there but we were able to walk around the grounds. Very peaceful place and well maintained.
Yvonne E — Google review
Fun nice tour! Definitely recommend to anyone who would love to hear some history about the area and if you get lucky you might be able to see inside the lighthouse! 😁 Learned some interesting facts!
Greek M — Google review
Was a awesome tour, our guide was very informative of the history. Seeing he is retired school teacher, the tour was awesome. I tipped him after the tour.
Bill C — Google review
Visited on 6.22.2025. One of several lighthouses in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Definitely worth visiting.
Rick W — Google review
Limited view of the lighthouse for the general public. Paid tour will get you closer. Nice view of the harbor
Paul S — Google review
Beautiful spot to relax & site see or even take a quick chilly swim in the lake. Clear water, gorgeous views!
Marlena ( — Google review
This was my second visit and I really wanted to get my passport book stamped. First visit, the person said I would have to come back as there was no one there. This time we waited and waited until a tour guide came in and said we had to go to the Maritime Museum. They sure don't make it easy and it would be nice if that were posted somewhere. Otherwise, beautiful lighthouse and setting!

The Marquette Maritime Museum offers a fascinating exploration of the local maritime heritage, featuring exhibits on canoes, shipwrecks, Coast Guard boats, and more. Housed in the old city waterworks building as part of an active lighthouse complex, the museum attracts around 12,000 visitors annually. Visitors can learn about the history of Marquette's lighthouses and explore displays detailing tragic tales of infamous shipwrecks in Lake Superior.
INTERESTING history awaits! Some on the shipping industry across the Great Lakes, some on lighthouse facts and lore. Just being inside the historical lighthouse is an experience that’s worth the drive. Call ahead and ask about tour availability. You can’t access the lighthouse without being on a tour.
Aaron T — Google review
Great little museum. Several of the staff knew the history of the light and surrounding area inside and out. The WW2 submarine annex was extremely well done for such a small area. Ships store (gift store) was well stocked with both local merchandise and general lighthouse and USCG stuff.
The E — Google review
This place was a quick stop on our way through, but it was a really great little museum. Entrance fees were really reasonable and there were a lot of great exhibits that were interesting for everyone in our group, from 4 to 74. There's a significant portion dedicated to the Edmund Fitzgerald, as well as other well-known shipwrecks, the Coast Guard life saving station and the commercial fishing industry. There was also a nice exhibit on US WWII submarines involved in turning back a Japanese fleet. Son and I both loved the working periscope as well. They also offer tours of the Marquette Light Station, but we didn't have enough time to do that as well. After seeing the museum, though, I can say I recommend a lighthouse tour too, if you have time.
Erin F — Google review
Nice museum about all things Maritime, especially around the Lake Superior area and the neighboring lighthouse. The lighthouse tour was sold out so we self-toured that and enjoyed the museum for $8 each with senior citizen discount.
Yvonne E — Google review
What a fun lighthouse tour! Very informational tour, learned quite a bit of history. Getting to be inside the lighthouse was the best part of the tour! Will definitely recommend this tour to others!

Visited on 6.22.2025. Fantastic museum with Great displays and exhibits about maritime life on Lake Superior and local Shipwrecks. KUDOS to Olivia for providing great restaurant locations in Marquette.

Very nice little local museum right by the Marquette harbor. Lots of interesting photos and artifacts with many tales of Great Lakes shipwrecks, including the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Excellent display of shipping and lighthouse history. If you're fascinated by "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" definitely go here. And check out the Fresnel lenses too. There is a separate lighthouse tour.

Marquette Mountain Resort is a versatile facility that offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter, as well as biking and private events in the summer. It is known for being one of the most popular downhill ski destinations in the Midwest, featuring 15 trails with striking views of Lake Superior. Additionally, it serves as a hub for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, with miles of groomed trails available for enthusiasts.
Snowboarding for years and this was my first time here. Overall a great place, lift lines are reasonable, runs are fun and well maintained. The Mountain Muffin is a great sandwich. Prices are comparable to other ski hills in the area. Parking can be a task, crossing the highway is super dangerous. Most trucks and even the snowplows seemingly don't slow down at all. Van and outdoor chairs got covered in flying plow debris from over 30 feet away. Views of Lake Superior from the top. Indy Pass worked great.
Colin C — Google review
We went for the cheese wheel race, first timers from out of town. The location is beautiful and the facility is very welcoming. The cheese wheel should not be missed if you're in town for this annual event!
Eryk G — Google review
I skied Marquette Mountain yesterday after a day at Boho. I needed the therapy and got it! This hill is one of the finest in the Midwest for views, staff and runs. I was uniquely blessed with the finest snow and silky powder I have skied in about 20 years! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The runs were a pure delight. What a cool vibe. Thank you.
Fee A — Google review
Better skiing than expected! Some of the runs were pretty steep, and several had some small cliffs and large boulders to navigate around. Some good longer trails. Beautiful views of lake Superior too. Fun, quirky vibe to the resort with a couple metal artworks around. Lots of stuff to do in the area and less than an hour from pictured rocks. Definitely worth a visit!
Josh P — Google review
I love skiing here! The slopes are perfect, the views are stunning, and it’s so much fun! Everyone is so nice!
Joel L — Google review
This laid-back gem of a mountain bike mecca deserves 11 stars! The downhill mountain biking has everything to get your adrenaline going. From flowy green and blue runs, to uber technical double black diamonds there is something for everyone! The staff is super chill and inviting. And there is a great little restaurant on mountain for your mid day refuel. The bartender recommended the Sesame crusted tuna stack and it was delicious, the perfect food to keep my energy the last 4 hrs. 20 laps in and I'm absolutely exhausted, but can't stop smiling. Bravo, keep up the amazing vibe!

Review: Mount Marquette – A Diamond in the Rough Mount Marquette is often described as a "diamond in the rough," and after being a season pass holder for the past three years, I couldn’t agree more. This hill has incredible potential, with a great variety of terrain and natural beauty. Unfortunately, its operations often fall short of what it could be—and should be. There are areas where the resort excels, but others where it consistently struggles. What Mount Marquette truly needs is a general manager who understands the ski industry—someone who skis the mountain regularly, engages with guests and staff, and leads by example. Here are a few major issues that need attention: Slope Preparation: Grass should be cut before the snow flies to ensure a clean snowpack. Proper grooming is essential—when it’s wet, groom at night to flatten it, and again in the morning to break up frozen corduroy for a skiable surface. Snowmaking Operations: Snowmaking should not happen during peak times, especially near lift loading zones. It's frustrating and dangerous when snow guns are blasting while guests are trying to load and unload. Additionally, the snowpack by the lifts should always be level or higher than the loading zone—this has been an issue, particularly with the triple chair, for three seasons. Lift Operations & Safety: Lift operators must understand that their top priority is guest safety. I’ve witnessed distracted operators—texting or flirting—while chairs knock over kids who have fallen, or failing to assist skiers struggling to unload. This is unacceptable and dangerous. Snowmaking Capacity: While it’s great that the resort has invested in new snow guns, either the equipment is undersized or the water pressure is inadequate. At my previous home resort, Nubs Nob, they could blanket the hill in 30+ inches overnight. Mount Marquette has more snow guns but takes over a week to achieve the same result. Something’s not right. Final Thought: If the management team—especially the GM—were regularly skiing the hill in different gear (to go unnoticed), they’d get a much clearer picture of what's working and what's not. First-hand experience would drive the improvements this mountain so badly needs. Mount Marquette has everything it needs to be an outstanding resort. With better leadership and attention to detail, it could finally live up to its potential.
Ben E — Google review
First time here in March of 2023 and super impressed. Really enjoyed skiing at this site. Nice variety of runs and some ungroomed areas to enjoy. The staff was excellent as well. Visited again in March 2024. Tough season for all resorts, but this one still had plenty of skiing left. Staff was great! Hoping for more snow next year.

The Marquette Regional History Center is a treasure trove for anyone interested in the rich tapestry of local history. This regional museum offers an engaging journey through time, showcasing Marquette's evolution from its origins as a Native American settlement to its rise as a bustling mining town. Visitors can delve into diverse exhibits that highlight the area's cultural heritage, featuring artifacts, photographs, and historical documents that narrate compelling stories. The center's mission revolves around preserving and presenting history in ways that enhance understanding for all audiences.
I recently visited the.Marquette Regional History Center at 145 W Spring St, in Marquette, MI. This is a very nice history center that goes over the areas growth through pioneering and Indian history through the growth of the area with lumber and the ore industry. There is so much to read and see about. I enjoyed one area in particular that went over and ancements or developments of people from that area in many areas of life.

Great museum with lots of local history. Also used as a venue, a wedding reception was being prepared when we were there and it looked beautiful.

Great way to spend a rainy day in Marquette. Only $4 for students. Guts frisbee special exhibition is pretty sweet!

Excellent museum for all ages. The Ojibwa exhibits are very good and show an vast array of Native American arts and crafts. The history of early settlers and mining in the area is nicely featured with many original artifacts. I like the section on the midwife who served the area and they the display of her bear fur coat and how she took care of the women in the town. There is a separate hall that features the historical clothing worn by early settlers that is nicely done. Beautiful and clean facility and gift shop.

For such a small center, there sure is a lot to look at and learn about! The exhibits are well made and appealing. It takes about 2 hours to go through if you also go through the temporary exhibit. I learned a lot about the history and geography of Marquette! I recommend this place to families with and without children. There's so much to learn!

Visitors can enjoy professional and talented performances in a picturesque setting just feet away from the water. Additionally, the Marquette Arts & Culture Center at the Peter White Public Library provides further opportunities for cultural enrichment with lectures, musical performances, and art exhibits.
A Community Treasure with Heart and History Lake Superior Theatre is more than just a local playhouse – it’s a cornerstone of the Marquette community, blending top-notch entertainment with deep-rooted heritage and heart. Nestled along the scenic lower- harbor waterfront, this charming venue has captivated audiences for decades with its compelling shows and community-centered mission. The productions are consistently impressive, featuring a range of genres from beloved musicals to thought-provoking dramas and engaging family fare. The talent, often a mix of seasoned performers and emerging local stars, brings an authenticity and warmth to each show that larger venues can’t replicate. But, what truly sets Lake Superior Theatre & the Lake Superior Yacht Yard apart is its unique identity as a historic, family-run business. For over 100 years, the family behind the boathouse and theatre has been serving the Marquette community—not just through entertainment, but also through recreation, education, and generous fundraising efforts. This legacy infuses every corner of the theatre with a sense of purpose and pride. It's not just a business—it’s a lifelong labor of love that continues to give back. Beyond the stage, the theatre also offers a one-of-a-kind setting for weddings and special events. With its unique working-boathouse charm, lakeside backdrop, and intimate ambiance, it’s an unforgettable venue for couples looking for something meaningful and truly personal. It’s hard to imagine a more romantic or symbolic place to begin a new chapter in life. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Lake Superior Theatre is a must-visit. Come for the show, stay for the community spirit, and leave with a deeper appreciation for the arts, history, and the power of community and a family’s vision to enrich a town for generations.

This is a really cute and quaint theater. It's so nice that this town has a theater right near the lake. Not sure if they offer concessions but would love it if they did. Can't wait to see more shows there!
Kristen C — Google review
Small local theater with a beautiful location on Lake Superior. *Parking is NOT at the theater, only a few handicap spots are available down at the theater. Park over at the lower harbor park and walk the path over to the boat house. It’s an Easy walk, not very long. The theater is small, but don’t let that fool you. The performances are top notch and well worth every penny for the experience! The actors, directors, choreographers, and staff are all fantastic and work so hard to bring you a great show every time!

Scenic spot
Black Rocks in Presque Isle Park, Marquette MI, is a popular spot for adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts. The 1.7 billion-year-old cliffs offer stunning views and the opportunity to experience the signature summertime activity of cliff diving into Lake Superior's chilly waters. Visitors can enjoy the thrill of jumping off these ancient cliffs while taking in the scenic beauty of the area.
We hiked the trails leading up to the black rocks. Some of the paths are pretty challenging, so would recommend hiking boots/shoes, and being careful. Particularly on some narrow paths on the side of steep hills. Going down the middle trail is generally easier. That was the way we took back. Both the easier and harder trails were great though. It's fun taking the more adventurous route, and the easier center path is very peaceful and serene. You can also walk along the road or drive up here if you would prefer. There are multiple pretty views of the lake leading up to the black rocks, and the black rocks themselves offer a beautiful view of the cool rock formations and the lake itself.
Ben — Google review
Black Rocks is a truly cool, free place to visit with plenty to see and do. The views are amazing, and the rocks on the small beach areas are simply gorgeous. I do want to mention that the water is extremely cold; during my visit, a teenager who jumped in experienced shock and nearly drowned, which was quite frightening to witness. You might also spot black squirrels and a fair number of mosquitoes. There's ample parking in the lower sections of the park. However, if it's exceptionally busy and Black Rocks is your primary destination, it's wise to secure a parking spot before reaching the immediate Black Rocks parking area. That lot isn't very large, and if it's full, you'll have to drive the entire loop again to find a space.
Rebecca L — Google review
If you're going to be in the area, make sure you stop here with your bathing suit! A short walk over some rocks and you're at the cliff. It's a high enough jump where you may take a pause at the edge before jumping in! It's a fun experience, and the water is "refreshingly" cold! After you jump in, you can either swim back to the beach, or you can go back to the rock and climb back up for another jump.
Gerard D — Google review
Definitely a must stop if you’re in the area. Can be pretty crowded during summer and popular weekends. Small parking lot, but you can also park along the road in certain areas. Beautiful rock beach area as well as the main attraction ‘Black Rocks’. Not dog friendly unfortunately.
Ashley W — Google review
Such a cool spot to visit on lake Superior. You can walk along the rocks and there a multiple spots to go into the water, even a spot to jump off! We went early August and the water was chilly at first but eventually got used to it (if you ever swam in lake Michigan in the spring/ early summer- it is about the same). The park we were at had a beach area as well as many hiking trails and places to catch the views. Very peaceful and enjoyable. I would recommend driving around it once first if you haven't been before parking (it is a one way and can be busy at times- so finding a spot close to where you want to be may take a lap around).
David S — Google review
Pretty cool jumping off the cliffs isn't bad. It is the cold water that will get you. Other then that definitely a place to check couldn't go wrong!!

Granted it was our first time to the UP and we don’t have much experience, this place was still by far everyone’s favorite day of our trip!! Such a cool place, parking is not great but worth a walk :)

Scenic with plenty of places to picnic. Excellent geology with old archean rock including a rare oceanic ophiolite, exposed probably during the last ice age.

Bodies of Water
Dead River Falls, located just outside Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts. The half-mile trail along the Dead River offers stunning views of multiple waterfalls cascading into sparkling pools. While the trek is not overly challenging, hikers should be cautious of the deceptively strong river currents. The falls are active throughout most of the year and provide ample opportunities for photography and relaxation.
So you park in what looks like the power plant lot. You walk up a rather steep gravel hill. There's a wood sign off to the left indicating the trail to the falls. We only walked to the first water fall. It was picturesque and very peaceful. We saw others with beach towels and blankets. Apparently if you keep walking up and around in the tail, there's a spot where people jump off the rocks, into the falls. I think they said there are 4 sets of waterfalls? Lots of tree roots and a very steep trail. Would highly recommend NOT wearing flip flops! Lots of parking space available. We got a few mosquito bites a long the way. There was one porta potty on site ( but no toilet paper when we were there on a Thursday)
Heather K — Google review
This was an amazing hike! It is a little strenuous but totally worth it! Along our hike we had to have seen four or five very large waterfalls. The trail was covered West lots of roots which honestly helped climb the Hills. If you're looking for a somewhat challenging hike and beautiful scenery I highly recommend this!
Brandy S — Google review
Beautiful spot, it's not too far away from the parking lot however that hill you have to walk up can be brutal on your legs but it's worth it once you get to the top. There's 3 waterfalls Incase you go the wrong way and just see the one. Very nice place and relaxing. A few signs along the way so you know where you're going. The porta potty was very nasty with poop smeared everywhere. (Where did they even wash their hands???)
Thomas S — Google review
Really enjoyed the multiple layers of falls. Path starts with a steep walk up a gravel road, then down some stairs. first fall is at the bottom of.the stairs. After that it's a worn dirt path with elevation changes and roots. There is one part you walk across a bridge made of logs, not horrible but you need some balance and agility for sure.
Brian S — Google review
Great hike, 3.5 km in and out, a good 1 hr. Lots roots to navigate. Where log is across stream, depending on the time of year go up stream and cross on rocks lol
Ali L — Google review
Amazing hike. Beautiful and so freakin' relaxing. It is like a hidden gem. It's a clear path but not regular terrain. There are lots of tree roots, fallen trees, path takes you near cliffs but it is seriously amazing. Don't recommend it for those who walk with canes or poor balance or young kids. Also, when you arrive, you will see a porta potty and a yellow gate. It doesn't look like the beginning of a trail. But continue on. The falls are beautiful. Sit down on the rocks, dip your feet in the water & enjoy nature.
Chriss D — Google review
Definitely needed my hiking boots on this one. All if the falls along the river were beautiful

The museum is well-maintained and provides educational opportunities for all ages. Visitors can also explore the Iron Ore Heritage Trail for scenic views of Carp River Forge.
Outstanding museum. Highly informational placards with many demonstrative exhibits, artistically curated. Ask in advance about mine tours. Beautiful property with hiking trails and more informational signs; you can spend the better part of a day here. Shame it has such limited summer hours.

I was a little uncertain upon entering. But it's a great way to spend 90 minutes to 2 hours. Pay the dollar and watch the film. It is worth it and helps you appreciate not just the industry, but the area, and the rest of the exhibits better. One more thing, read the plaque out front. Good stuff.

This is a must. It is an interactive experience that was fun and informative. They have done a great job of giving real experiences. You can enjoy it in a short visit or make it more in depth. I find many museums to be a bit stale. Not this one! All ages and a short fun ride from the bike trail.

Very nice museum. Suggested $5 donation. This is a well-maintained facility. It has a good amount of information....self paced, waLk through on your own. There is an option of a 20 min video to watch for an additional $1 per person. I would plan to spend an hour. (Could even be done in a half hour if needed). There is also a nice gift shop.

When we have someone visiting from another state we bring them here to learn some about this area and we always learn something new that we didn’t know. The staff is always so friendly. The walking paths are also very well maintained. The parking is plentiful. The gift shop is a great place to pick up a little something. We recommend stopping by. We will stop here again and again. Also, if you’re able, please leave a donation when you enter the main door.

Marquette Cinemas is a great choice for a classic family movie outing. They offer a wide range of showtimes and a diverse selection of films each week. The cinema is also perfect for groups and birthday parties, providing private rooms for celebrations with the option to decorate and enjoy cake. Visitors appreciate the comfortable seats with padded armrests, creating a cozy atmosphere akin to being at home on the couch. The theater maintains cleanliness and reasonable prices while offering discounts.
The theaters are always comfortable and clean. I have no interest in the arcade area in the lobby, but it looks positively magical from a kid's point of view. This would be one of my top choices for a kid's birthday party - especially during our long winters.

It has always been a great experience here at Marquette Cinemas. I’ve been here for large screen blowouts as well as smaller room viewing. They have added some fun arcade type games in the lobby. Mixes it up a little. They also serve alcohol now, do with that as you wish.

Always have had good experiences with Marquette Cinemas. && They run really good movie deals on Mondays & Tuesdays! $5 Mondays are my families favorite. Large arcade makes it a fun time for before or after your movie too!

I love our theaters. And I'll continue supporting. Just watched a 2hr movie in 90 degrees. They had the heat on. Almost unbearable. Only stayed to not lose out on my money spent. I walked out a couple times to find someone, I couldn't. I know it's the very late showing. Saw other people walk out of another theater. Asked them if they had a hot theater. They said they did not. The lobby was at least 20 degrees cooler than our theater
Z 3 — Google review
Awful visual quality. The last two times I've been here, the movies had washed out colors, and were just plain dark and muddy, to the point of making it difficult to follow scenes at times(and no, they *weren't* supposed to look like that). I raised the issue with staff both times, who to their credit were courteous and said they'd tell their manager about it. These viewings were a year apart, however, so until management shows any action they care about audiences viewing experience, I wouldn't suggest going here unless you really want to see a new release right away.
Robert Q — Google review

We were initially given two complimentary movie passes by the General Manager of the facility, although we were expecting four. When we returned a couple of months later, the same manager refused to honor the passes. Despite the theatre being nearly empty for a 3:15 PM showing, we ended up having to pay an additional $52 for our tickets. Unfortunately, this experience has left us disappointed, and we will not be returning to this theatre. We plan to reach out to Thomas Theatre Group Corp regarding this matter.

The Lower Harbor Ore Dock, also known as the Marquette Harbor Dock, is a fascinating relic of maritime and mining history. Built in the 1920s, this imposing structure was used for loading iron ore onto lake freighters. Today, it continues to be a hub for shipping tons of ore annually. Visitors can marvel at the massive dock and imagine its heyday when railroad tracks transported iron ore from mines to waiting schooners. Historical plaques nearby provide insight into its operations.
We decided to stop and check out this cool structure!! We had seen pictures of it, but until you see it in person, it's hard to imagine how it works. It looks like it should be in some Viking movie. The parking lot was big enough for our camper.

HOTplate Pottery & Clayworks is a community clay studio located in the Masonic Square Mall on Washington St. downtown. It offers a hands-on creative experience for individuals and families, regardless of prior experience with ceramics. The studio provides an opportunity to create unique decor or tableware while making fun memories. The staff is attentive and helpful, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the process of working with clay and glaze.
My friend ask if I wanted to go to this clay hand build class with her. We had taken a few one time classes at Hot Plate and throughly enjoyed them. So I said yes of course I will. I really didn’t think I was very crafty or had much talent in design, but Michelle is very patient and when you want to ball up your clay and start again. She will talk you through the issue and get you back on track. It’s really a lot of fun and such a stress reliever. I will definitely be back for more. Well, I do have to finish glazing my pieces, here’s a photo of a piece I made that I am very proud of. Thanks Hot Plate for all the fun in learning to play with clay!

Hogback Mountain offers two main trails to its summit, the north and south trails. The south trail is generally considered easier, while the north trail involves near-vertical climbing and can be challenging to descend. Hikers recommend using the AllTrails app for navigation. The view from the top is described as spectacular, especially during fall when the colors are vibrant. Many visitors enjoy annual fall hikes with their dogs and suggest it's a perfect time for a comfortable hike without working up a sweat.
Always enjoy my yearly fall hike up the mtn. Dogs love it as well. Perfect day for me that is, to get out and enjoy. Cool enough for the hike as to not work up a sweat. 😁 takes about an hr to hike up and the trails are well marked and worn enough to not lose your way. Little rocky towards the top but can manuver around well. Planning for a winter hike this year as well. Get out there and enjoy the best views. 😀
MaynardHood — Google review
Took us about 40 mins to get from the trail head to the top. It began by being a very mellow walk in the woods with beautiful trees and multiple types of terrain. The top is more close to scrambling up a trail vs a clear walking path. My partner and I have walking sticks which definitely aided us, but didn’t opt to use them at the last bit. When going up the rock make sure to look out for wet / slippery rock to have stable footing. Otherwise worth the workout and if you’re able to do it, we highly recommend! The breathtaking views are a true reward.

I'm not the most experienced or fast hiker, but took about an hour each way with some fun rock scrambling at the end! Hiking boots recommended. Beautiful hiking trail. When you make it to the top, the views are breathtaking. Be warned though, there is some serious rock-climbing involved. Do not go if it’s been raining, the rocks could be too slippery to climb on when wet. Otherwise, bring you camera, it’s beautiful!

The view is amazing. The hike was grueling. But I think it made the view all the better. The temperature was around 8°F and I was sweating by the time I got to the top. The hike was steep. It would have been extremely difficult if I didn't have fantastic cleats on my snowshoes. The whole trip took around an hour and a half with little to no breaks.

Fit Strip in Marquette, MI, located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, offers a 1-mile trail groomed for both skating and classic skiing. The trail is also open for snowshoers during winter. Grooming is done as needed by volunteers and depends on sufficient snowfall. There's a lighted loop available for night skiing, providing an enjoyable experience with some uphills and downhills.
Went cross country skiing at the Fit Strip in Marquette MI, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Had a really good time. There wasn't quite enough snow to put down a decent track but there was enough to ski and enjoy ourselves. I personally have lots of experience on these trails having lived years ago on Magnetic Street near NMU campus in Marquette, and I have spent a lot of time on the Fit Strip both in winter and in the summer. As a ski trail, it is acceptional really. It normally is groomed well with tracks and has good winding patterns through the woods and nice hills in areas for more advanced skiers. One terrific feature is that the trails are lit with lights for night skiing which is really cool. Cross country skiing here at night is a fun and exilerating experience. It is a great place to enjoy skiing in winter, and working out in the other seasons to get into, and stay in shape. I highly recommend the Fit Strip.
Edward B — Google review
They nailed it with the name, it's a short, sweet and to the point "fit strip". Its a great place for the light afternoon walk, Jog, or even XC ski! There are lights around the path and it's open 24/7 which is nice especially if you like to be the only on our there or work odd hours. The whole loop is around a mile or so I believe, completely free to use of course!
Joshua — Google review
The trails here are fun to have a walk on. It is great to go through the woods and enjoy the outdoors in town and the connection to the cemetery is nice so you can get a peaceful walk.
Isaac H — Google review
Excellent lighted loop at night for cross country skiiing. It was not the smoothest trail because I think many people come here to walk, so you have to pave a way for your skis. Be aware that although it's shorter, it shouldn't take more than an hour to do the lighted loop, I believe the lighted loop is a hybrid of the beginner and intermediate. There are multiple uphills and downhills. You will definitely pick up some speed. Also, when you start the trail make sure to go counter clockwise. It was so fun!
One L — Google review
I walk in the fit strip quite often. It's right in the heart of the city, but in the center-most trails and off trail you can't even hear it. It's well-groomed and beautiful in every season, with a variety of flora and fauna. There's a big stand of hemlock in one section, another of cedar, and other deciduous and coniferous trees throughout. The trails have wooden exercise structures throughout and many of them are lit. It's up against the cemetery and community gardens on one side, so I often walk through both. People also tend to walk their dogs there and sometimes off-leash, so do keep that in mind.
Hayli C — Google review
I have been using the fit strip for about 2 years now. I am a onewheeler and those trails are very onewheel friendly without being too difficult I've never ran into someone who thought we shouldn't be there which has been nice. I clean up any trash I see when I'm out and about, just cause I so use these trails and want to keep them clean. Also on the beginning of the trail there is a donation box. Please consider donating even a dollar if you do use it. Everytime I drop in at least a dollar to show my appreciation that this exists

You'll find lots of paths to stroll or jog or run through the beautiful foliage and shrubs and trees of Marquette. Park on the grassy surface of the community garden in the Park Cemetery -- one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the USA -- or any of the various side street adjacent to the Fit Strip. The Fit Strip is a hidden gem of Marquette, relatively unknown to many residents. The canopy of trees in the fall is truly beautiful.

We just started our second year at Studio Dance Arts and we couldn't be happier. The staff is so sweet and encouraging to all of the students. My child is a bit of a wild card and we have been met with nothing but understanding and open arms. We tried a few other studios in our area and none of them were as professional or accommodating as SDA. We truly have a wonderful dance family here ♡
TorA — Google review
My daughter both dance here and love it. In two years of competitive dance, one daughter has learned more than the previous 5 years of recreational dance. They arent just teaching them how to dance. My daughters are learning accountability, work ethic, teamwork and sportsmanship. These are all things they will take with them into adulthood. I would recommend Studio Dance Arts to anyone who want instructors who respect and appreciate what your child brings to the table but will also push them to continuously improve in all aspects of dance.
Christopher W — Google review
Studio Dance Arts is the most professional dance studio in the area. My daughter looks forward to every single class each week! As a mother, I love having my daughter learn hard work, teamwork, and accountability through the studio. We love our studio family so much!!!!
Katie S — Google review
Studio dance arts is one of the best dance studios in the UP. When there’s a break between sessions my daughter begs to get back to the studio. The instructors are great with all their students young and old. I’m excited to watch my daughters progression as the instructors at this studio really get to know each student and help them push to achieve their next level of excellence.
Jessica T — Google review
We are so happy with the competitive dance program at Studio Dance Arts! My daughter adores all her teachers and is excited and happy to go to dance each night. It is a very positive environment and they produce beautifully choreographed routines at every level!
Kristin T — Google review
My daughter has been dancing at studio dance arts since they have opened their doors. Even though she was taking local dance lessons since she was 3 she had to start from the very beginning on learning dance terminology, technique, and choreography. Studio dance arts really knows how to teach your child to dance correctly! Ms. Ashley Tremblay has coached my daughter to win multiple dance titles and is continuing pushing her to be a better trained dancer! Ms. Ashley Tremblay has won several choreography awards and has brought opportunities like work shops to the studio in Marquette. The studio also has the opportunity to attend workshops in Canada. I cannot say enough about the opportunities your dancer would have by training at studio dance arts.
Daphine R — Google review
My daughter has been dancing at Studio Dance Arts for five years in their Competitive Dance Program. SDA has provided high quality technical training, competition experiences all over the midwest and exciting community performances. We can't wait to see what the next 4 years bring. A top-notch dance education, right here in the UP!

Nestled along the scenic Dead River, Kaufman Sports Complex is a haven for sports enthusiasts and outdoor lovers alike. The highlight here is the Powder Mill disc golf course, featuring 18 challenging holes that range from 120 to 525 feet, set against a backdrop of stunning rock formations and lush forested ridges. In addition to disc golf, visitors can enjoy well-maintained soccer fields and baseball diamonds that are perfect for weekend games.
The baseball fields are kept in very good condition. The umpires were super friendly and explained things to the players if they were unsure of some rules.

All the way in the back, by the water. Has frisbee golf and great for dogs. (PLZ PICK UP UR POOP)

Several soccer fields, baseball fields, and even a BMX riding area. All quite nice. Bleachers as well, large dirt parking lots. Bathrooms are nice.
Chelsea L — Google review
Fields not chalked. Outfield uneven . The bases are falling apart. It's a part of parks and recreation that there isn't any commitment to keeping it where it should be. I feel like the parks and recreation Have more of an obligation to orv trails.
James C — Google review
The fields are fine and it has a nice restroom area but parking can be an issue as well as traffic in and out at busy times.
Abbie T — Google review
I play soccer here every week, it's very nice field which is really cool. They also have baseball there, it's very nice as well.
Donny W — Google review
One of the most aggressively awesome disc golf courses I've played.
Ryan G — Google review
Good but you now have to pay to use the bmx jumps and everything now. Which sucks.

Video arcade
Vender Bender Arcade, situated near the Superior Dome on Presque Isle, offers a classic arcade experience with pinball machines, racing games, shooting games, and special prize machines. The arcade is open from 12-8pm almost every day. Visitors can check their Facebook page for updated hours and news about new machines. While some visitors found the arcade a bit chilly and slightly worn down, others appreciated its old-school charm and variety of games including claw machines and other staples.
A little grimy? Yeah, I guess. Games a little wonky? Yeah, a bit. But hey, it's a cool little arcade and time killer. Still wish it was open 24 hours, though. Used to be the only thing to do while doing laundry at 3am
Ty H — Google review
Had a fun time, there were quite a few fun games. Would have had a better time if it weren't for the fact that more than one of them were rigged. One of the shooting games didn't register many legitimate shots, thus rendering it impossible despite many attempts (not just by me), and a maze game where the timer would either speed up or skip down to approximately zero as soon as you got close to winning. Probably won't go again because of this.
Rebekah L — Google review
There was a mattress pad over one of the out of order games and used beanie babies as claw machine prizes. Some of the other prizes were straight out of the 1980's. It's cash only and dirty. So bring your cash and hand sanitizer.
Lisa D — Google review
Cozy, old-school arcade with 15-20 mixed video games, prize/skill games, pin-ball, small toy vending machines and other oddities in a very rad space. Bring cash or quarters.
Paul R — Google review
Since there is absolutely nothing to do inside with young kids in Marquette besides the children's museum (which only allows 20 people because of covid b.s.) it was nice to go here for a little fun, only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because it was freezing inside,it would be perfect if they turned the heat up and we would of also stayed longer if it was warm. 😊
Tina H — Google review
Solid little spot. Fun claw games and a few other staples no tickets though you just play for fun and what prizes the machines can give you
Justin B — Google review
It was very uncomfortable and reeked of cigarettes. Not an employee to be seen and I was genuinely terrified

Zero effort put into this place. Issues with every piece of equipment. Operators like this give this industry a bad name.

Nestled along the stunning shores of Lake Superior, Ellwood A. Mattson Lower Harbor Park is a delightful escape for both locals and visitors alike. Just a short stroll from Downtown Marquette, this charming park offers an inviting lawn area perfect for picnics or simply soaking up the sun. Families will appreciate the playground facilities while nature enthusiasts can enjoy breathtaking views of the iconic ore dock, especially when calm waters create picturesque reflections.
Beautiful harbor park with a playground and restrooms. We visited on a rainy day so most things were closed and not busy, but it was still worth a visit. Perfect spot to watch boats come and go. We spent about a hour but you could easily spend more if you stopped and watched boats or went to the playground.
Abbey M — Google review
Beautiful area . Amazing looking playground. Women’s restrooms were completely out of TP.
Leticia B — Google review
Visited on 6.22.2025. This park is centrally located in Marquette and has plenty of free parking. Easy access to museums, historical points, and restaurants.

Ellwood A. Mattson Lower Harbor Park is a beautiful open space right on the shores of Lake Superior, perfect for a relaxing walk, picnic, or just soaking in the views. The park is clean, well-maintained, and has wide paths great for strollers, bikes, or a casual stroll. The highlight is the stunning lakefront backdrop, with the historic ore dock adding a unique touch to the skyline. There’s a nice playground for kids, open grassy areas for events or lounging, and benches scattered throughout to enjoy the scenery. It’s an easy walk from downtown Marquette, making it a great spot to unwind after exploring shops and restaurants. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s one of the most scenic and peaceful places in town.

I definitely did better here than in Vegas. I enjoyed the live music in the background and cocktail specials.
Mike F — Google review
Nice, clean, good selection. Wife and I blew through $2,600 in an hour. Like I just left in a previous review for Kewadin in Christmas. These casinos do not pay well. If you want to go do minimum bets with cheapish beers it’s ok for that. Clean casino. But don’t expect 50-100x bet payouts. We stick to $5+ bets typically. The bonuses we did hit paid out 5x-10x times. When we left Kewadin, I assumed that place was just low pays. Instead I’d just be wary of any of these places up north. Not paranoid or anything, we blow our money at Motor City and MGM all the time, these were clearly paying out far less. Edit: Check the photos for a couple of my “bonus” payouts.

This campground is okay if you're in to gambling. They have new bathrooms with very nice showers. There's nothing for kids to do here. Being a new campground There's no shade trees yet.we were told that we could not use our outdoor mats because they didn't want the grass killed.
Margo — Google review
I’ve been here multiple times and have not had a bad experience. Last night was by far the best yet, the security, cashier, rewards girls, cleaning lady and dealers were all very outstandingly friendly and helpful. Sign up bonuses and benefits are always great and it made for one amazing night! Thank you again Ojibwa!
EC E — Google review
Went for the Kissed Alive show, was excellent, not a lot of people tho, but that's ok, they missed out. Smoke-free so that was nice, definitely busier than Ojibwa Casino in baraga.
Nicole G — Google review
Well staff seemed pretty nice and the casino is definitely bigger than I thought it was! They also have verterans discounts, and every Tues is "veterans day" with extra free play! Also, got free play for my birthday month!:)
Tim S — Google review
This is a brand new campground and the grass needs to grow a little bit and there are no playground amenities for children. The sites are large and have wonderful hookups. Beautiful bathroom facilities and very clean. Almost 5 stars
Marilyn W — Google review
Very nice new Casino. Very good live music. Nothing for kids. RV park was clean Full Hook ups on nice big level sites, no trees or shade, for only $46. Plus $25 free play each and a free drink voucher. Almost new and super clean. Out of 7 weeks of travel my wife gave the rv bathrooms 5 stars. For only $46.
