Museum
The Rock Island Arsenal Museum, established in 1905, is the second-oldest U.S. Army museum and is located on the 946-acre Rock Island Arsenal. It showcases a vast collection of military, civilian, and foreign firearms. The museum provides insight into the rich history of Arsenal Island, from its origins as a summer camp for Sauk Native Americans to its role as a Union prison camp during the Civil War.
My Dad and I spent the morning here during the Christmas holiday and enjoyed learning about the history of the island, the channels, and the future of the island. I definitely recommending making it a point to visit while in the Quad Cities to learn more context and history of the cities and region.

Such an amazing museum, respect to everything that is being manufactured and made in Rock Island Arsenal . Thank you for your service
Israel G — Google review
Great history place. Must present ID to go through a background check before entering.
Paula S — Google review
The museum is fine for what's there. The army released a memo about closing museums, so I wanted to visit before they closed it. That must've been much earlier in the making because 90% of what's in the old photos is gone. It's a very streamlined, modern, sterile, dark room that takes 10 minutes to walkthrough. You won't need chairs or benches, you won't be there long enough.
Scott L — Google review
First visit since childhood. The recent renovation definitely changed the look and feel of the museum. Really enjoyed the Mk. VIII Liberty tank display, to bad the interior couldn't be displayed. Only thing I would change is having the Atomic Cannon display closer to the museum. Free parking and free entry, but you must get a visitors pass to get on to Arsenal Island to visit.
Jason J — Google review
Worth a visit! It's free and goes into the history of the base which is fascinating!
Martin O — Google review
The museum is well done providing a solid historical background for the island, buildings and the people that have worked and been captive there. I especially appreciated the attention to statistical information on what was produced at the armory, and through local suppliers for each point in history (Spanish-American War, WW1, Korean conflict, etc.), and the R&D focus, including what was developed but didn't make it. The museum is self guided, but we missed that you start by going left when you enter (clockwise when viewed from above). Just driving through the base to the museum past the 150 year old buildings is worth the time to get the visitor pass!

Historical munitions factory accessible only on an army base. You must get a security clearance at the visitors center.

Quad City Botanical Center, located in Rock Island, offers a delightful blend of indoor and outdoor horticultural gardens. Visitors can explore the fascinating tropical blossoms, cascading water features, and reflecting pools with koi. The center also boasts an impressive Children's Garden with a meandering waterway and interactive games for kids. Seasonal attractions such as the butterfly garden and Garden Train Railway show add to the charm. Additionally, the center hosts art shows and special events for families.
Beautiful! I loved seeing the garden! Loved the glass buoys and there was a bird outside that kept attacking my husband lol! Fantastic day!

This is a nice little place with lots of plants to look at. I went with my adult daughter and we enjoyed the inside and outside areas. I think " in my opinion" the best time to go with smaller children is during the Christmas lights although they do have a small area for children and a train that runs in the summer. All and all we enjoyed our visit and for plant lovers it's a good place to explore.
Danelle M — Google review
Quiant botanical gardens with some wonderfully rare plants and tree. The children's garden is great for kids to play on a hot summer day. Would definitely come back.
Barb K — Google review
Indulge in the breathtaking beauty of nature at the most magnificent botanical gardens in the Quad Cities area! This place is a true haven of wonder, with a plethora of indoor and outdoor exhibits that are bound to leave you impressed. Step into a world of tranquility at their indoor waterfall area, a serene paradise adorned with vibrant koi fish and lush tropical plants. Lose yourself in the peaceful ambiance and let your mind wander to a place of serenity. The outdoor area is a treasure trove of adventure and enchantment, with a fairy garden that boasts a charming child-sized cabin, an inviting play area, and a water feature that is home to a colossal stone alligator. You can explore the vast expanse of the grounds and marvel at the stunning trees that tower above you, each one a magnificent work of art. The greenhouse is a true delight. Simply stepping inside is like entering a wonderland of exotic and tropical plants. You'll be captivated by the spectacular array of pitcher plants, flycatchers, and an extensive collection of cacti and succulents. Whether you're seeking a family outing or a stroll with your loved one, this place has it all. And if you're a plant lover, the gift shop is a must-visit destination, offering a diverse range of plants for sale. We took home a small Jade plant as a keepsake for just $3! So, if you crave the beauty of nature and want to experience something truly remarkable, this is the place to be.
Micah H — Google review
Nice seemed a little cramped inside. Dwarf conference collection along with seasonal canvas and annuals very nice. Very kid friendly for a warm summer day with water features to help keep kids cool. Would really like to see this garden expand as it can easily be seen in an hour.
Scott S — Google review
Pretty location, customer service could use some improvement. The lady at the entrance was snippy with us on Saturday and would not give us the college student rate because we did not have our student ID's with us. The plants are very beautiful and nice to view but the service did not sit well with me and as we were leaving we heard the same lady badgering someone upon entering who was with a wedding party and did not want her help. Overall it's a beautifully kept garden but I would not return because of my poor experience.
Isabel L — Google review
It was too cold and windy to see most of outside but inside was beautiful. Some very unique plants, a scavenger hunt for kids and I even got a free plant clipping to take home. We also got to experience the Voodoo lily in bloom which was neat to see.

Natural History Museums
Nestled within the Swenson Hall of Geosciences at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, the Fryxell Geology Museum is a hidden gem for geology enthusiasts. Named after esteemed professor Fritiof Melvin Fryxell, this museum boasts an impressive collection that has been curated since the late 1800s.
Awesome geology museum! Couldn't find parking so I called and the girls said they either park on the street or across the street at the park with tennis courts. The ladies were super friendly and knowledgeable. They had activities for younger kids and older kids while exploring the museum. It's a small place but just packed with awesome things to see. We will be back.

Go here. Very nicely done small museum on campus! The exhibits were awesome! Fossils and rocks what more can you ask for! Visited November 30 2023

This place is a hidden jem. I'd love to go back when we have more time, this museum admission was an addition to the Holiday Season of Light show at the Planetarium. This was a unique twist and a pleasure to attend.

My son asked for a day trip to this museum I hadn't heard of before but we went and oh my goodness... if you are into geology like I am or prehistoric dinosaurs like he is...its worth the trip. Very informative.

Museum
Black Hawk State Historic Site is a 208-acre rolling tract and nature preserve that holds significant historical and cultural importance. It was once home to a band of Sauk people and served as the birthplace of Black Hawk, a prominent figure in American history. Visitors can explore the trails, picnic areas, and riverbank while enjoying the picturesque surroundings. Additionally, downtown Rock Island offers a charming experience with historic architecture, murals, restaurants, craft breweries, live concerts, and art galleries.
Nice park with a decent hiking trail and small museum. Based on the spider webs, the trail was not heavily used and you could tell there was some erosin issues along the river
Mark T — Google review
Black Hawk State Historic Site (Rock Island, IL) This land breathes with memory. Beneath the canopy of oak and along the trails, history lives alongside nature. The Black Hawk site is more than a park — it is a story carved into the earth itself. Walking here is not only wandering but listening: to the silence between trees, to the unseen footsteps of those who came before. For the Lone Wolf, this is sacred ground. Here, independence transforms into humility, for Mother Nature reminds us that the land endures longer than any blade of grass or human hand.
{BLUT A — Google review
Cool park and historic site along the Rock River. I only had a short time to visit so I hiked the trail nearest the river which featured cool rock formations and some nice views of the river. Unfortunately, I visited on a Monday and the museum is closed on Mondays, but I did explore outside the museum, which included a nice statue of Chief Black Hawk.
Jeremy D — Google review
Lots of well maintained walk paths with picnic tables dotted along these paths. Good playground for children. They also have a great venue location with great friendly staff for weddings or any other occasion. Plenty of parking in multiple different places. You could easily spend the day on a walking adventure here. Me and my wife visit often. It has become one of our "romantic" get away places.
Timothy B — Google review
We walked across the sky bridge... played at every park area... ventured to the trails and it was outstanding. They have trails attached to more trails a person could get lost. They do have a map at the entrance... take a picture of it...I may or may not have gotten lost! It was bliss!
Suzanne S — Google review
I really like this park. It covers a large area, there's easy walking paths as well as more challenging trails along the river bluff. The museum is next on my list. The playground is small, but decent. Very nice trees. There's a shelter with fireplaces and picnic benches, and benches along the river below the shelter. Multiple parking lots for accessibility. An overpass pedestrian bridge. The history here is palpable if you pay attention to that kind of thing, and you should.

Great place for a wedding! Great price. And Rhonda was amazing to work with! She helped me save the day with my wedding and had a list of vendors for me once I picked to go with her. She was great at communication and had great items for rent to use for your wedding. Thank you again Rhonda!
Celeste P — Google review
Beautiful park with a playground and trails. We stopped by the little prairie next to the lodge for some family photos and then took a walk over the bridge and watched the cars go by. Our little guy thought this bridge was the coolest ever!

The stunning Victorian residences in this historic region resemble a journey into the past. It would be remarkable if the entire area could be restored and officially designated as a historic district. Homeowners here deserve financial assistance to preserve these precious properties to the fullest extent possible. It would be preferable if landlords were unable to convert these homes into apartments, as many have done so already. Broadway possesses the potential to become a cherished landmark on a national scale.
Back in 1975, we were students at Augustana College. We rented this very house for our upcoming Junior year. Just this past weekend, three of us visited this milestone house that we once lived in.
Mark K — Google review
Beautiful Victorian homes in this historic area! Like a step back in time! I would love to see this whole district restored completely and perhaps become an actual historic district! I think that homeowners here should get grants to help them preserve these gems as mine as possible. It would be nice to see landlords not be able to purchase these homes as many have turned them into apartments. Broadway has the potential to become a national treasure!
Secondhand S — Google review
Love love love this whole area!!! We walk our dog through our neighborhoods and I feel like I'm in a book or time capsule! Neighbors are nice and look out for each other and you feel like you're in a community of like minded people who love history. Every time I look around I am always noticing something new and beautiful. It's gorgeous and magical in all seasons. Very fun to raise a family here.
Bethany W — Google review
I did a walking tour of the area, so I learned a lot about the original owners, renovations and history. Even walking on your own, the homes are impressive and the architecture is stunning.
Robin P — Google review
This district is a lovely place to live but I did notice that there was several abandoned properties that can be fixed up and revived for productivity I think for the person that's seriously interested in the rehab of these properties should receive a first-class approval letter with the backing of the necessary resources and assistance to complete the job it will make a great asset to grow with in your future....
Laverne C — Google review
This is not a place to "visit", unless they are having an event to see the houses. It is a residential neighborhood, with many restored Victorian, Queen Anne, Four Square, etc homes. They are beautiful. There are also many that have not been restored and are in poor condition. Many ate for sale and ready to be renewed.
Carla L — Google review
Several blocks of historic old homes either have been or are being renovated........a lot of history in the Rock Island area....sharing it with Moline... (Belgian/ Swedish heritage as well as home of John Deere.). Rather nice to drive thru this area and guess at the stories behind each home.
Mary O — Google review
Lovely historic neighborhood displaying many well preserved homes built in the late 19th century. Fun brick streets to take a stroll along during the summer. A well organized neighborhood with non profit status that hold educational events on historic preservation. A fun place to raise a family within walking distance to downtown or public parks.

Performing arts theater
Located in downtown Rock Island, Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse is a former Vaudeville theater that now offers a unique combination of comfort food, a bar, and live entertainment. The historic architecture of Rock Island's downtown area provides a picturesque backdrop for visitors to explore. From the iconic Blues Brothers statue to vibrant murals adorning buildings, there's plenty to see and do. Additionally, the area boasts craft breweries, restaurants, and even an organic grocery store.
We did a girls night to the production of Chicago. I’ve been many times, but most recently seen this production off broadway at the Adler and I was quite disappointed then. Circa KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK! The food, service and ambiance are always great, but the production was INCREDIBLE. The talent was top notch. Sound and lights were amazing. I am blown away! Great job Circa!
Amanda H — Google review
Great place to catch dinner and a show as a couple or in a group setting. The atmosphere is great, and the building has been well maintained. The layout offers great seating anywhere you sit. The chairs are ok but a little uncomfortable for the duration of a show. Being this is a playhouse, the food was not great. Equivalent to a buffet. The service was fantastic and the staff we're friendly. Bathrooms were clean, and the bootleggers were awesome. Great venue to see a quality show and will happily come back to see another. Highly recommend everyone to check this place out. My only criticism would be to elevate the food menu.
Mike F — Google review
My daughter and I went to see the Chicago musical. The show was fantastic and the talent unbelievable! However, the dining experience was not our favorite. It was so loud with all the patrons talking and eating. The food was OK but nothing spectacular. No consistency. The salad and cottage cheese were fine. The chicken and scalloped potatoes, however, were bland. I had to salt and pepper it to try and help the flavor. My daughter's chicken was dry and rough but mine was not. The roll was dry. The best part of the meal was the peach cobbler (which was really a crisp) a la mode. Our bootlegger, Micah, was a great and attentive waiter. Personal preference, if we watch a show again we will wear concert earplugs. It was too loud for us. The lack of bathrooms (especially when one is out of order)means they need to up the intermission time to accommodate potty breaks. The climate inside the theater was fine to start and then was warm by mid show. Tables are close. We were seated away from the walkway and trying to get out at intermission was not easy. The chairs in front were trying to squeeze in but it was almost not enough. My last issue was the fact that there was a street closing directly in front of the theater and nothing on the website regarding that. As someone not familiar with the area and all the one way streets, guidance on where to park or would have been nice.
Jenny U — Google review
Circa ‘21 is truly a gem in the Quad Cities! Every visit feels like stepping into a night of magic — from the warm welcome at the door to the incredible talent on stage. The dinner service makes it feel like a full experience, not just a show, and the performances are always top-notch. The historic charm of the theater paired with the energy of the cast makes every production unforgettable. Whether it’s a classic musical, a laugh-out-loud comedy, or a family favorite, Circa ‘21 delivers every time. Highly recommend for date nights, family outings, or just a treat-yourself evening!
Leanna W — Google review
What an amazing experience! Great food in a beautiful, historic theater and the talented crew waited tables and then sang and danced on stage - unbelievable. The level of talent will please and astound you. I attended the Mary Poppins production and was simply blown away!
Lynn H — Google review
Didn't have dinner. Watched the "Diary of a Whimpy Kid" musical. Beautiful place. Fantastic old architecture and clean place. Chairs and tables to sit at. Kids had a blast! Excellent singers, choreography and acting during this musical.
Jeffrey S — Google review
We watched the play "Chicago". The actors were both national and local. It was an excellent show, very well presented. The food was very good, as long as you are not expecting a 5 star restaurant meal. The service is top notch though, the bootleggers are awesome. All in all well worth the price of admission.
Dan J — Google review
Highly Recommend! The bootleggers were fabulous. They do some song and dance prior to the show that's great. Dinner and dessert were awesome. A fantastic meal. Servers were great. Murder on the Orient Express was a fantastic show. Could not be better! The cast was on point. My guest was new to the venue and the story. Had a great time and was caught up in the mystery to the very end.

Schwiebert Riverfront Park is a vibrant community space offering scenic water views, a playground, splash pad, and outdoor music area. Located along the Mississippi River in Rock Island Arts and Entertainment District, it provides stunning perspectives of the river and downtown Davenport. The park features a waterfront promenade, bike trail, public art installations, and a unique digital playground. Families can enjoy the interactive fountain while children cool off on hot summer days.
We stopped here to play at the playground and have a riverside picnic. The pavilion was a perfect spot for our lunch, and the playground was a true hit. The kids loved it. Well maintained- folks were walking through emptying trash and cleaning up while we were there. They do a good job keeping this a nice spot.

Schwiebert Riverfront Park is a wonderful park for families & children. I have been to this park many times with my son when he was a young child to play and enjoy the water features. Museums
The Figge Art Museum, located in downtown Davenport, is a prominent art institution with a rich history dating back to 1925. The museum features an impressive collection of European, American, and Spanish Viceregal art, as well as works by regional artists like Grant Wood. Housed in a modern glass building designed by architect David Chipperfield, the museum offers educational programs, lectures, and events to engage the local community with the arts.
The Figge finally added glowing lights to the establishment. I go to the Figge often, usually on Saturdays; every second Saturday the Figge always host special events, for the festivities and to interact with art professionals. This enhances my passion for art and helps me connect with my local community. Just this past Saturday, they hosted an event for the community to witness the long-awaited glow.
Israel ( — Google review
It was free when I went. Lots of stuff to see and do! I loved that it allowed you to explore your own artistic side through fun activities. I also appreciated the art in this museum. It was not just modern art which I personally find boring, but the exhibit golden age with its descriptions really made me understand and appreciate the art. I thought it was fun and loved the cats and show exhibit. I think that was a cool way to incorporate today’s culture and make art more interesting! Also loved the gift shop very reasonable prices!
Calli C — Google review
A visit to the Figge Art Museum is always a pleasure, but Thursday nights are an especially wonderful experience. Strolling through the beautiful galleries is even better knowing that delicious food and drinks await at the Figge Bar. The new Thursday evening menu offers high-quality, creative dishes that elevate the art-viewing experience into a complete night out. The tasteful setting and tasty bites are the perfect complement to the remarkable artwork. It's a fantastic tradition for art lovers and foodies alike.

I had almost decided to pass on one of the most inspiring experiences of my whole life. I loved this museum so much I had changed the itinerary of my trip by a whole day just to make sure I was able to really take it in...It covers so much in its exhibits yet it was not overwhelming. In addition, it has managed to remain so affordable and unpretentious, including the gift shop. I'm a student who has visited my fair share of museums and so many are simply not considering the average consumer (at 30-40$ per person). Its staff/volunteers are truly wonderful also. When I have more funds, I will be sure to donate to this museum.

Glad I visited! I spent 1-2 hours here. Excellent layout and variety of art!

This is a wonderful small town museum with a varied collection stretching from European masters to Haitian multimedia. The Ansel Adams collection and the Grant Wood exhibits are not to be missed. Wonderful location on the shore of the Mississippi and there is a nice coffee bar and terrace. Overall a star and we give it four clams ( five stars on the millennial rating) on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

Nestled on the picturesque Rock Island Arsenal, the Colonel Davenport Historical House is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Learn the history of the area and this unique home!

It was supposed to be open when I visited, but was closed. (12:50pm on a Thursday.) Sign on the door said it was supposed to be open, Google listing hours said it was open, guy at the Arsenal Museum said it was open, yet it was locked up tight. 😥 The yard was in bloom and I saw a rabbit, so it wasn't a total loss.

Water Parks
Whitewater Junction is a fantastic railroad-themed aquatic center located in Longview Park, south of the Broadway Historic District. It offers various party options and features a pool with zero-depth entry and four exciting slides: Rocket, Zephyr, Cannonball, and Express. The park also includes water springs, spray features for kids to enjoy, and a tumble bucket. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful view of the region from the top of the hill where fun slides are built.
Kind staff, reasonable rules for safety, fun slides for all ages. Chairs are comfy, snack bar is reasonable, perfect set up for supervising your kids from your chair or playing with them in the pool or slides.
Kristin K — Google review
Overall we always have a pretty positive experience here. It’s easy to see the entire pool/slides from the deck, easy to watch your kids. The lifeguards seem to have good judgement and decent attitudes. I gave it 4 stars for the price. It seems a little expensive for a larger family.
Megan.mullins2.0 — Google review
Kids had a great time, fun slides built into the side of a hill in a very cool and pretty way. Weirdly lovely view of the entire region from the top. Great food options, everything reasonably priced, everything very clean. Most importantly- and this is not an exaggeration- the lifeguards are the most highly trained professional corps we’ve ever seen anywhere. It’s a level of training and focus you’d see at a Disney waterpark. Thanks for your diligence and high standards.
Tyler G — Google review
When we came we were told they’re closing at 6:00. Cool, so we had a little over an hour to swim. Went to go down the tube slide and waited 30 minutes to be up next and as soon as we were getting our tube ready the lifeguard told us they’re closed and we can’t go down the slide.
Jenae C — Google review
CONCERNED ABOUT LIFEGUARDS!!!!! I actually like this water park a lot but I think they would be better off replacing a couple of the lifeguards. We went to whitewater junction on June 19th and my son and his friend saw a kid laying at the bottom of the pool in the deep end. They told the lifeguard and she said “No….he’s fine.” They looked underwater and saw he wasn’t moving so they yelled at the lifeguard and said he wasn’t moving and she needed to go save him. She actually hesitated before jumping in. You would think they would immediately start CPR but instead they struggled for over a minute to put on gloves first. Why didn’t the lifeguard rushing over put the gloves on while the others were dragging the boy out of the pool? I know safety is important but I think saving the boy’s life is a priority. Gloves shouldn’t be that important if there’s no blood. Someone could’ve at least started chest compressions while the others struggled to put gloves on. The lifeguard that initially ignored my son and his friend when they pointed out that someone was drowning should be fired. UPDATE: I spoke with management about the lifeguard who didn’t take my son’s and his friend’s reports seriously. They said they looked at the cameras and saw the lifeguard had her eyes on the victim the whole time but didn’t jump in right away. I mentioned that it was concerning that a lifeguard could watch someone struggle and watch them sink to the bottom of a pool, AND THEN have two kids report multiple times that he was laying at the bottom of the pool not moving, and she still didn’t react right away. The manager said they “talked to her.” So apparently, as a lifeguard at whitewater junction, you can watch someone drown and have kids plead with you to save him, but still wait almost 2 minutes before diving in, only gets you a lecture from management. Very concerning!!!
Sabrina L — Google review
This place is amazing! 👏 Staff was very friendly and helpful, everything was clean. My kids were confused that the rules state they can have toys but the lifeguards kept telling them they couldn't. 🤷‍♀️ Other than that, we had no complaints!
The L — Google review
Fun way to cool off but way overpriced...$9 per person!?!? Cranky lifeguards but with that large crowd, I kinda get it. Left early when someone pooped in the pool. Yes, I'm serious.
Jaime A — Google review
The bathrooms are disgusting, no toilet paper no actual place to get dressed, unless you take up the bathrooms and some lady had to go so bad she peed right over the drain. No lifeguard at the baby slide. Parents didn't do a good job at watching their kids so some older kid on the baby slide almost drowned my son, knocked him over and he couldn't get back up. I yelled at the kid 3 times since there was lack of parent and life guards around. Thank God I'm the parent that watches their kid or it would be a different story. They need an age limit or weight limit or a life guard at all times at the baby slide. 10$ for a pair of Goggles. Not the best swimming place for the price. Don't recommend coming here, it's not worth it.

This is such an interesting place to go! My kids have always loved coming here. We've gone before for events but we had the chance to stop by today during regular hours and it was so wonderful to get to walk through each area at our own pace. We loved the hands on exhibits and the collection of John Deere toys through the years.

This place is very simple, easy to get around and loaded with information. We really liked the diversity in exhibits. We have and collect both John Deere stationary engines as well as 2 cylinder tractors. The JD Pavilion is loaded with both. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The gift shop is full of fresh items and fairly price. Plus, the entry is FREE!!!

So interesting to see how John Deere tractors, dump trucks, and so many other JD vehicles have changed and improved over the years. Some of the farm implements are huge! It's fun to watch kids climb up and sit inside some of the larger ones. They are so excited! A must visit when you are in Moline, IL. And it's free!

Cool place! It reminds me of the Artful Dodger in Virginia. Grabbed some food and a coffee here before a late shift. I got the midnight noodles with an egg and dumplings and a jasmine latté. Wow!!! Everything blew me away!!! Wish I worked in this area more often so I could stop here regularly!!! All of their food looks and sounds good. Plenty of seating and looks like it's set up for lots of shows! Heard about it from a friend who reads poetry and does rap battles here. Love the daytime vibe. I'm sure night time is cool, too! Skeleton Key Art and Antiques is a treasure trove for those who appreciate the charm of vintage finds and unique handmade items. Visitors rave about the warm atmosphere created by the friendly staff, making it a welcoming spot to explore. From antique dressers that exude character to an array of reasonably priced art pieces, there's something for everyone. Whether you're on the hunt for a statement piece or just browsing, Skeleton Key offers an inviting experience that leaves you eager to return.
Stopped over to shop for a antique dresser. We found one that would work. Prices were good. Owner was very friendly and make you feel very welcome. We bought a dresser with mirror. There is so much more personality in older furniture. It may not be a perfect piece when you purchase it but with a little love and adjustment, touch-up you will have a warm piece for your home, not the feeling you get from new furniture. Try to find a new piece of furniture that is eye apealing gives you a good feeling and your bank account doesn't hurt!

The Government Bridge, also known as the Arsenal Bridge, is a historic structure that connects the arsenal to Davenport. It was initially constructed in April 1856 and served as the first railroad bridge across the Mississippi River. The bridge features a unique design with five wooden spans and a draw span in the middle of the river. Additionally, it includes a bike and pedestrian path for added convenience.
Of time and the River! I know, Wolfe didn't reference that book title to the mighty river, but I can't think about it, when writing this. This is one of many in the mighty river control and operated by the Corp. This would be one of the many equivalent to the modern Panama canal. One upon a time, this mighty was the blood vain and the core of transportation of the nation.
Nam N — Google review
Very cool bridge from 1918. Double train track on upper level with road and sidewalk below. Pretty cool passage from davenport or rock island unless you get caught in barge traffic.
72TurboNova — Google review
We wanted to visit the Mississippi visitor center, but this is very complicate, as it is military property. The bridge is no longer in use, you can't cross!
Manuel G — Google review
For some reason I feel safer on this old bridge than the other choices in the Quad Cities. Built to last, over 120 years old, the quintessential Mississippi River experience sitting watching the swing span open and a barge pass through.
Melisse G — Google review
Not bad place to visit sometimes the Bridge opens when boats come to the Arsenal.
Juan G — Google review
Convenience factor, the government bridge helps with my daily commutes, MOST days. Let me emphasize MOST. On the days it hinders my commutes, the government bridge sucks a bunch. For that reason, it gets 4 stars for helpfulness most days, and a one star deduction for being a giant pain in my a$$ the other days. Today is one of those seldom days, prompting me to write such a scathing review. The bridge has some cool history factors also, which gives me the reasoning to stick with my 4 stars. 1st bridge accross the mississippi, cool factor indeed. Abraham Lincoln was counsel to the railroad when a disgruntled steam boat destroyed the original, cool factor fosho!
Jonathan K — Google review
I always enjoyed travelling across this bridge when visiting family in the Quad Cities. It's really cool how the train tracks run above the roadway. That makes it very unique. If you have time, it's really cool seeing the bridge swing open to let a barge pass through!

I had my wedding reception at the Hauberg Estate on September 12th, 2020. Our cocktail hour was inside the home and outside in the garden area, and our reception was held under a large tent (that we rented) on their front lawn. My fiance and I wanted to have a tented outdoor reception but not at a country club or golf course. The Hauberg was absolutely perfect for us--lots of history and charm, and the setting was gorgeous. The home is stunning on the inside and the grounds surrounding are picturesque. Deb, the director, was wonderful to work with. She was so supportive and flexible and she helped us have a safe and incredibly fun wedding during COVID-19. I highly recommend using the Hauberg for your wedding venue!

Quarters One, located at Rock Island Arsenal, is a fascinating piece of history designed by Brevet Brigadier Gen. Thomas Rodman. The mansion consists of 10 stone shops, with the south row designated as arsenal row for general ordnance material and the north row as armory row for small arms. This 21k square foot home is the second largest single-family residence owned by the U.S.
Amazing place! I can't believe the size of this place. It was such a treat to get to see it.

Quarters one is a beautiful 21k square foot home on Rock Island Arseanal. Its no longer used as housing but can be rented for weddings, family events, fundraisers, and haunted Ghost tours. The home is said to be haunted and has proven to be a favorite among the paranormal community. Its worth a visit just to see the breathtaking views of the river and amazing original architecture.
Amanda P — Google review
The history on the Rock Island Arsenal is so interesting. Quarters one being the second biggest single family home the United States government has second only too the White House. The top floor was where troops would stay to protect the building. The mouldings are very fancy and I thought they were plaster but they were made out of cast. When they sent cannon barrels and other steel they melted into decrotive oriental piece's. Very neat place to visit.

Went to the buffet because it was highly rated on the visit qc buffet list. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our drinks never ran empty. Unfortunately the food was under seasoned, dry. I tried a little of everything but I didn't like any of the entrees, or sides. The kielbasa felt and tasted like bologna in a tube. The pork belly was soft, but didn't taste of anything other then grease. Cornbread had a cake texture, and weak corn flavor. The roasted and mashed potatoes were okay, as were Mongolia beef. The deserts were the best part. The baklava was great, as were cheese cake slices.
