Cascada Velo de Novia is a stunning multi-tiered waterfall located in a lush, forested park in Valle de Bravo, Mexico. Despite the area not being known as the safest in Mexico, Valle de Bravo is actually quite safe for visitors. The town's vibrant colors and cobblestone streets add to its unique charm. Visitors can take a moderately easy hike or opt for a four-wheeler tour followed by a 15-minute walk to reach the beautiful waterfall.
I visited this waterfall as part of the “Tranvia Chu Chu” tour. The tour shows you this place and the “Piedra de Molino” waterfall. I loved it! I had enough time to take-in the beauty of the scenery and to take pictures as well! The 2 waterfalls are a must when staying in Valle de Bravo!
Mika — Google review
Beautiful waterfall with essentially no restriction on how close you can get other than your own common sense. Lots of vendors along the way, beginning with restaurants by the parking area, simple cabana type bars along part of the trail, then souvenir and clothing stalls. Two little girls came up to us and asked if we wanted to hear the story of the waterfall. We couldn't help but say yes. You'll have to go yourself and hear the legend, and don't forget to give those kids a few pesos for the story. It looked like you could also ride horses down the trail. Be prepared for rain and go carefully on the trail when wet.
Alex — Google review
It’s a good view! Enjoyed it with my friends
Amy C — Google review
Beautiful place to vist. The last part of the trail is rugged and a little bit challenging to climb up and down. The Waterfall arr magnificent and if one wants you can get right under the falling water. At the moment it's free
Hector J — Google review
If you are a hiker Thais place offers some interesting trails once you reach the lake, cross over the creek and you will discover a beautiful path with great views over the lake
Guenther ( — Google review
Excellent trekking forest and natural reserve/park, the sights are gorgeous if you're the nature loving kind, you can trail down to the bottom of the falls and come as close as you like. There are decks from where you can see the falls if you don't feel like going down the rustic trail to the foot of the falls and picnic in the designated area. It's a good adventure and a good trip to take, just wear comfy shoes and clothing, fit for the walk to and from this magnificent place, definitely recommend it. Although it has areas that are a bit archaic, it's a beautiful place to visit, nothing fancy but surely beautiful falls.
Hector V — Google review
Great hike. We took a four wheeler tour to this town and then hiked 15 minutes down to see the beautiful waterfall. The hike itself was moderately easy, there’s a bridge and then dirt road. Wearing walking shoes is recommended. When you get to the bottom there are plenty of rocks to climb to take a moment to yourself and breathe in the water as well as listen to it. A great way to spend your afternoon!
Nikki A — Google review
It's a nice place to go and enjoy a cool falls, isn't that big lbut it worth go all the way down by Walk to get some cool pictures. When you go back up to the parking lot, be ready for the irregular stairs and some bumps on the walk way. You can grab some souvenirs at the stores on the top, remember to bring good shoes for the long way walking.

Mirador La Peña is a popular hiking spot in Valle de Bravo, offering stunning panoramic views of Lake Avandaro and the surrounding valley. The relatively easy trail includes some steep parts and boulders to climb over, so wearing good hiking shoes is recommended. Once at the top, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the lake and town below. The white-painted exterior walls of Valle de Bravo add to its unique aesthetic charm.
This is a must place to visit when coming to Valle de Bravo. You get very good cardio exercise plus the view of the town and the lake are amazing. The entry cost per person is $25 mxn.
Enrique Z — Google review
A crazy-steep drive up cobbled roads and a bit of a clamber up a path gets you to the top of the Rock (La Peña), and the view is really worthwhile.
Geoff R — Google review
Very short hike to get to the top. Also very slippery only because it was raining so the rocks were kinda green with some type of moss and wet. Worth the hike there, when you get to the top the view is so beautiful 😍. It wasn't so busy there, but I went in the morning, only a couple of people . We got rain as we were getting down the mountain.
Santita — Google review
Decent hike from town. About 45 mins from central town to the peak. I did it in sandals. Apparently much of the contemporary surrounding developments are built on undiscovered burial and ceremonial grounds.
Anuar R — Google review
Easy hike. Takes about 10 minutes to climb from the parking lot to the top. Parking lot is small, recommend arriving in the morning if you are driving. Bring a hat, it's hot in May.
Jose ( — Google review
The climb to the top was worth the effort. Do wear proper shoes to not slip on the rocks. It has stairs carved out of the rocks to reach the top.
Marxel N — Google review
Nice views and some people were rappelling . 5 pesos per person to enter, 5 pesos to use the bathroom, it's possible to park on the street sometimes but they offer parking for 30 pesos. They sell snacks and slushies, an 8oz cup of slushie was 15 pesos and was very good!
Beckett P — Google review
Very nice, 360 views of Valle de Bravo from La Peña. Easy Hike for most people, although no accesible to those with mobility limitations. The hike takes about 10-15 min. If driving there, make sure to put Mirador de la Peña in google maps, otherwise you will wind up in a residencial area.

Catholic church
Nestled in the heart of Valle de Bravo, the Santuario De Santa Maria Ahuacatlán is a stunning 17th-century church that stands as a testament to history and faith. This magnificent structure features impressive wood-beamed ceilings and houses the revered Black Christ, a crucifixion statue that remarkably survived a devastating colonial fire. Encased in glass and adorned with vibrant plastic flowers, this iconic figure draws numerous pilgrims each year.
I’m not Catholic so I do not understand the purpose of this but it seem like a beautiful representation of the lives and longings of ordinary people.

The Museo de Arte Popular in Valle de Bravo is exceptionally curated and offers well-guided tours. Due to COVID, reservations are required, ensuring a private experience. The knowledgeable guides provide insightful answers to numerous questions. The art displayed is truly magnificent, making it one of Mexico's standout attractions. Although the museum has a small but stunning collection of popular art, it is beautifully presented.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a colorful and creative environment, where each piece tells a story about our traditions and the talent of the artisans. I loved appreciating the alebrijes, with their fantastic shapes and vibrant colors, as well as the textiles and ceramics, which reflect the diversity of techniques and styles from different regions of the country. The museum also offers the opportunity to see local works, which allows you to better understand the cultural identity of the State of Mexico and Valle de Bravo itself. Museum
The Museo Arqueológico de Valle de Bravo is a small museum located on the coast, close to the CFE facilities. Housed in an old house that blends well with the environment, it features a varied collection from different parts of Mexico. However, visitors suggest that having local archaeological pieces would make it more attractive for tourists. The museum is free to visit on Sundays and offers interesting exhibits despite its small size. Some feel that more artworks and exhibitions could enhance the experience.
Incredible artifacts. Worth the visit!
Mary H — Google review
It has been several years since I visited the place so chances are things have changed. I can't remember the entrance fee was but it was affordable, like somewhere around 30 pesos at the time which is quite cheap considering Valle de Bravo is so expensive. The expos are really colorful and nicely laid out. The bad news is that well, the museum is really tiny. If you didn't read the text, you could just spend 5 minutes in there. I remember the place is poorly ventilated and cramped so it is little surprise why it remains closed due to the pandemic. Chances are the place will remain close until next year at the soonest.

(Translated by Google) I did not know of the existence of this Museum of Archeology in Valle de Bravo 😎, but it is very well located along the coast, and close to the CFE facilities, its content is very varied and from different parts of the republic, but as far as Personally, it would be very attractive for tourists to have local archaeological pieces in existence, since it is known that if there is an archaeological zone in the center of this Magical Town, unfortunately urban growth has absorbed it and if it will ever be opened to the public or starting investigations would be urban chaos and the INAH would have to intervene.

The arrival is a 15mn walk from the central square because it is uphill, keep this in mind for elderly or disabled people. There is no entrance so it is a public place. Bring your binoculars and camera. There's just that, don't expect shops or food or drink stalls. Remember not to leave garbage in the place, let's help take care of our environment.
