LaM, Lille Métropole Musée d'art moderne, d'art contemporain et d'art brut is a renowned museum located in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France. It houses an impressive collection of over 4,500 avant-garde artworks from the 20th century, including outsider pieces generously donated by prominent artists. The museum's striking architecture is complemented by a surrounding sculpture park, offering visitors a unique cultural and leisure experience.
We were out of season so only permanent collection open. Slightly disconcerting that you need to take the metro and a bus to get there- but view it as preparation for the artistic feast that awaits you. I enjoyed the Leger and of course the Modigliani and the Alexander Calder mobile in the grounds. Visit the cafe - we had an excellent fish and coconut curry
Stephen B — Google review
Very nice museum, I saw Nogushi exhibition, retrospectiv, and I must say I discovered an artist, though I don't like much of his work;, anyway nice presentation, worth seeing! The permanent collection shows contemporary works from famous artists, or "art brut" less known ones. Nice shop, nice café, garden.. All in all you can enjoy a full afternoon forgetting the ordinary life..
Gérard D — Google review
Okay, this has some 'big hitters' Picasso, Braque, etc. But the really interesting thing is the story of Art Brut, which is explained during the exhibition of the permanent collection. I didn't get it all, but isn't that the point? Be warned though, some pictures in the museum contain ladies breasts, uncovered. Google won't allow me to show images of these and if these will offend you probably best not to go. It is well worth a visit but both the Palais in Lille and the Piscine in Roubaix are more accessible in multiple senses.
Paul B — Google review
It is a really nice museum. The temporary exhibitions were the main attraction. They also spoke English, which was a big +. It is a bit far away, so you need to take either a bus and metro, or a car.
Andrei B — Google review
Very nice experience in Lille on a hot day. Calm and not too many people. There's a restaurant that we ignored. We visited the permanent exhibition only which was very impressive. There are lockers for your stuff.
Jakob F — Google review
Wonderful exhibition space. Good permanent exhibits. Saw the I Noguchi exhibition. Fantastic. Lovely cafe too. Easy to get to from Lille centre.
Mike D — Google review
A very limited permanent collection with little in the way of curation makes this a non-essential visit. Unfortunately, upon visiting, two temporary exhibitions were not on which greatly impacted the visit. There were some respected artists (Picasso, Leger, Braques) but that doesn’t make a great museum. Café was very respectable and had a nice outdoor space. The gardens — which are free to enter — are the best part of the entire visit, with some fantastic sculptures on display. For a museum that’s not in the city centre, I would not recommend as an essential unless you had a particular interest in either the gardens or any temporary exhibitions.
R S — Google review
The LaM museum near Lille 🇫🇷 is amazing. Also the exhibition ‘Paul Klee - Betweens two worlds’ that makes us (re)discover the art of Paul Klee from an angle as intimate as it is fascinating.

A natural park with beautiful lake, birds & their songs, horses and lots…Any person who loves nature, cycling, walking, running or bird photography this is the perfect place for him/her!

One of the great place for walking, running, cycling, picnic with friends & family. Some people also do fishing sometimes with the permission, I mean buying the fishing licence. You can do good nature photography also, because there are nice birds too! I think, due to the existence of this lovely natural park, I could able to survive in this county till now! Thanks to Vd'A community & French Gov't for this nice park.

Gardens
Parc Mallet Stevens is a serene and artful garden that offers a blend of nature, heritage, and modern architecture. It's an ideal place for exhibitions and exploration, featuring open spaces for kids, a vegetable plot, amphitheater, and play zone. The park's modern wooden architecture provides a picturesque backdrop for relaxation and photography. Visitors can enjoy the changing colors of nature in autumn while taking in the artistic beauty of the surroundings.
A very nice little modern park, in all weathers. Named after Mallet Stevens who designed a nearby modernist house. There is a big open space for kids. Another section is fenced off for use by the adjacent old people’s home and public cafe. Features like a small vegetable plot, an amphitheatre and children’s play zone. There’s even a book sharing space. Dogs on or off lead not allowed.
Wendy S — Google review
At first sight it looks like nothing but when you start walking through the park and getting absorbed by it’s surroundings and energy, you begin to feel the peace that surrounds it. A dozen of lovely and creative designs and spaces marked with a little bit of a story. Walking through each symbol and reading through its little stories makes it more interesting as you wish to go to the next stop for more. Note for more details: The Mallet-Stevens gardens constitute a haven of greenery, relaxation and leisure in the heart of the district Beaumont, open to all residents. They bear the name of the architect who designed Villa Cavrois, an emblematic building classified as a historic monument, located nearby. By housing a playground, thematic gardens, a multi-purpose room, a green theater and a landscaped car park, the surface area of 2.5 hectares is an ideal setting for everyone (resident, walker, association, artist, leisure center ...) engages in numerous and varied activities. Hobbies, cultural and artistic activities, awareness of nature, ecology... the vocation of gardens Mallet-Stevens is wide. They are both a natural space and a quality living environment. Fun courses are designed for young people. Four themed gardens: the wetland, the vegetable garden, the agricultural garden and the bee garden are sources of numerous lessons. The design of the Mallet-Stevens gardens leaves a prominent place for plant and tree heritage, ecology, biodiversity and remarkable architecture. Their development was entrusted to the landscape architect firm Urba Folia, the company Norenvert and Bois et Loisirs.

The reception suggested to us from the start what there was to see & do to complete the experience & prepare our route. Great visits to the two mills as the crowds allowed. In case of crowds, you will have to choose only one mill on a guided tour & perhaps plan to wait in the VR room. Enough to further discover the heritage of the region & remember life in the 18th-19th century. The 1944 Memorial Ascq is a museum that commemorates a tragic event during the German occupation of France. It recounts the brutal retribution by the SS following the sabotage of a railway line in Ascq, resulting in the execution of 86 people. The museum provides insights into the village's journey through the 20th century, including its experiences during World War I, reconstruction, and life under German occupation leading up to the massacre on April 1, 1944.

(Translated by Google) Pavements strewn with weeds, an unmaintained lawn, untrimmed hedges add to the sadness of the place. The duty to remember is intended to be humble but respectful. Undeniably, this last qualifier needs to be reviewed. You would think this place was abandoned. Disappointing.

Le Chantilly Club is a delightful oasis nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, perfect for those seeking a vibrant atmosphere. Whether you're looking to unwind with friends over drinks, engage in a friendly game of petanque, or savor some delicious pizza, this spot has it all! While I haven't yet experienced the restaurant offerings, I'm definitely planning to return for more fun and relaxation. It's an ideal venue for after-work gatherings or simply enjoying quality time with loved ones.

(Translated by Google) A terrible experience. We came for a singles match (1 vs 1) and were charged the same rate as a doubles match (2 vs 2). No logic, no business sense. The receptionist, incredibly quick to cash in, really gives the impression of being a real Scrooge: anything goes to scrape together a few euros, even at the expense of fairness and player satisfaction. Result: a huge disappointment... a club to absolutely avoid!

(Translated by Google) I played for the first time at this club on the 1v1 court. The court was extremely slippery; I must have fallen four or five times, and it was impossible to get a good grip, making it difficult to play a good game. Also, racket rentals cost €5, which I've never seen at any other complex. The welcome wasn't amazing; even the receptionist had trouble quoting the price of the racket, as it was so expensive for what it was. It's a good thing I was invited, otherwise I would never rent a court at this club.
