Great collection of a man who likes whisky. Family run. Just always double check the price before order because some whiskys can be more expensive then you expect.

Was very excited to check this place out on my visit to San Sebastián. The place is impressive with an astounding variety of whiskies (duh). There’s also lively music downstairs. Unfortunately the prices are a bit high compared to other bars in the area. Give this place a go if you want to try a whisky you can’t find elsewhere but be aware of the touristy prices.

Museo del Whisky caught me by surprise. A dedicated whisky bar in a seaside Spanish city is, in of itself, a surprise. But what particularly impressed me was the superb range of whisky on offer, and the warm welcome we received. Make sure you order a measure of DYC 8 year old - a Spanish whisky, and a most suitable choice when visiting this hidden gem in San Sebastian.

Best bar in San Sebastian. It was our main stay for the week. The staff are very friendly and do everything to make you feel welcome. Great cocktails and wide range of drinks to suit all. Downstairs is popular with locals and often has piano nights as well as traditional Basque music. The puzzles are also very entertaining. A must visit in San Sebastian.

The best bar in town. Paul the bartender is so funny and has lots of tricks up his sleeve! If you love whisky you have to visit and if you don’t love whisky you have to visit! So much fun and laughter.

The line is crazy but you should just get it and order quickly. Honestly, I expected more from this place but it was pretty mid, extremely overpacked and loud. The basque cheesecake we came for was €6,50 for the portion which they split into two slices for better taste I guess was really good (but we expected something much more delicious for the price and hype this place has). When you take it to go they just give prepacked box with cheesecake inside, maybe this affected somehow

Great cheesecake! Place is packed pretty much every night we passed by it though you can share a table with other people. Easier to get seats if you’re not a big group.

The line was pretty short on a Wednesday afternoon. We ordered their famous Basque cheesecake. It was absolutely delicious. It is lighter and creamier than I've ever had and less sweet. My only regret was getting only one slice per person!

Incredible. We were only going to have the cheesecake as we heard this was the top place to go. But we couldn’t resist the other dishes too. The gentleman who served us was so friendly and always smiling. We had the meatball, stuffed mussels, plate of jamón and chorizo. Everything was exceptional.

I came a little earlier so missed the big rush, but it was still busy. Good part is I didn’t have to wait in line, only a few minutes at the counter. After trying it I get what the hype is all about. Best description I give is that it was very flavorful, creamy, and the most delectable cheesecake I’ve had. I would say it was a cheesecake with a consistency and texture of flan. Compared to the amount of business they get it’s quite small inside so seating can be difficult. Going early, helped as I was able to secure a place to sit and enjoy my cheesecake.

La Vina lived up to expectations! Have been wanting to come here my whole life and the standards were high. Was definitely not disappointed because I came back four days straight for my whole time in San Sebastián!! The cheesecake is pretty much fresh everytime you visit because it’s best sold within 36 hours but I’m sure they sell out faster than that! You get two slices per order so you can eat in smaller portions and enjoy the taste of the cheese rather than swallowing larger portions. The outer layer is only slightly denser than the creamy middle. It melts in your mouth and is just pure perfection. Highly recommend!!

Awesome bar, amazing cocktails, bartenders really pro. I asked for the "aromatico", very good. You can also ask for regular cocktails, based on gin or other liquors. You can order at a indoor table, the bar or at the terrace. Highly recommended!

The best gin and tonic I’ve ever tasted. Not sure if the bartenders name but he was super delightful and explained the content of the drink. I had a Nordes and it had notes of eucalyptus, rosehip, bay leaf, mint and so much robustness. He used dry ice to create a cool smoke and allowed ingredients like bay leaves, grapes, and some other exotic ingredients that permeated the drink. The Nordes turned out to be super delish! It tastes like perfume on a bed of cube ice and floating grapes and blueberries. This was great! I’m glad I didn’t go for the cosmopolitan I was going to order. Once I saw the first drink made, I knew I had to try one as well. Come here for some good gin and tonic!

We had a wonderful experience at this gin bar! The highlight was the bartender, Ivon—knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly passionate about his craft. He prepared his signature gin and tonics using dry ice to enhance the blending of flavors, which was both entertaining to watch and delicious to drink. Mine was made with Nordés gin, perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. Watching Ivon work elevated the entire experience. I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting San Sebastián who enjoys exceptional cocktails and outstanding service.

Having lived in many international capitals, I've had my fair share of cocktail exposure and, more often than not, have been disappointed. Last week, by pure chance, I came across “La Gintoneria Donostiarra” and was blown away. From the outside, this unremarkable and somewhat lugubrious bar doesn't stand out. You'll need to walk in and observe the head waiter hard at work to realise this is a serious cocktail bar with highly professional staff. Cocktails were unparalleled, not skimping on the alcohol and meticulous presentations. No drink is off limits. These people know their trade and are eager to please. Taking into account the myriad of ingredients and expertise that goes into each cocktail, I thought at 10 Euros a piece it was more than fairly priced.

Beautiful bar which puts great precision into every drink. It was not very full when we went there but that didn't matter to us. Perhaps this was because it is more expensive than your average bar in San Seb but you don't get the craftsmanship anywhere else that you do here. I would put this on par with some of the best bars in London.

Thank God no piano! Almost didn't go because of that 😆. Super craft cocktails great view and kind staff. I do recommend! The music was for sure more disco which was great as we were just getting ready on our night on the town. They did tell my hubby they stay open pretty late.

Simply a fun, no nonsense bar with a club vibe and superb music choices over the nice quality sound system. A host of classic and a few unique mixed drinks on a menu in English plus s full bar and local favorite beer on tap. Young, energetic crowd early on the weeknight we went, later on it changed to a more diverse one in age. Bartenders were friendly and welcoming even though we were travelers and we really enjoyed chatting with them. Gendry behind the bar is the best! He made sure our visit was enjoyable, picked the best musical selections, and tends a very fun bar. Located right off the river and highly recommend. Open till 5am! It gets an overflow crowd when other bars in the area close for the night. Cheers!

I’ve been clubbing everywhere in the world and this place is one the worst I’ve ever been too. The security is FASCIST, they do not allow people back in without ANY EXPLANATION and one of them is been incredibly aggressive to me with no reason at all, he almost put his hands on me and I was just talking politely. I paid my entrance, I was a regular customer and that’s how they treated me. Avoid this place, I will also send a mail to Resident Advisor to warn them not to publicise the events of such a terrible place. Clubbing needs safe places around the globe with good vibes, not this.

This is pretty much the only spot in Donostia that has live music and alternative programming. Definitely my favorite place in the city, my only critique is that they can use more seating.

We loved this club so much we came here twice during a five-day stay in San Sebastián. The drinks are great. The environment of the club is superb. And the music is just wow. We saw two different bands, and were enthralled with the quality of the sound and the brilliance of the players. I can’t recommend Altxerri highly enough!

A gorgeous, cool and friendly jazz bar in the city centre. Classic basement with diverse areas to enjoy. The music is primary. Gigs start around 19:30. Terrific musicians who really swing. Open until late. A very special bar and venue.

A wonderful bar with great drinks, lovely staff and wonderful music. Was let down by an American woman who told us she was a regular, tried to make us move seats and repeatedly scolded us for the slightest noise. Ruined the freedom and enjoyment that jazz should come with, and made it seem pompous rather than really about enjoying the music.

Our first pinto pit stop turned out to be one of our favs. The interior is casual and relaxed and they let the food do the talking for itself. The pork belly is as so good we ordered it on another day, but unfortunately the skin was a little harder that day? Anyway the other nibbles were equally delicious and the staff were friendly and very accommodating to our bad Spanish.

Baztan is not just a pinxto place! They serve delicious entrées too. I had Rape con Hongos, a phenominal fish dish to share with my friend costing 23 euro. The fish and mushrooms were creamy, salty, and perfectly cooked. I also had calamari with a delicious salty fried exterior with soft, chewy octopus inside. After only eating pintxos for a couple days, it was a switch up to sit inside, but with a great outcome! The aesthetic design of the dish was pleasing to the eye because of bread pieces and herbs decorating the top. Although they were busy, I sat with my group of 11 at the back of the restaurant. The design of the building evokes rustica from the stone walls and wooden tables. I enjoyed the layout as well, with the pintxos bar blocking our view to the street, making us feel more relaxed and secure. Good staff, we had a Spanish speaker with our group though, who did communication. The dish stands out as the best part of the experience, good place, great Rape con Hongos!

Baztan, tucked into one of San Sebastián’s postcard spot, golden hour light hitting stone walls, beer in hand, and a table barely big enough to hold the joy that just landed on it. Pork belly, crisped to hell, fat rendered down to something between silk and sin. A pintxo topped with prawn and a soft egg, messy in the best kind of way. You eat it fast, before it slides off. Then one with jambón ham and cream cheese,simple, salty, lush. Proof you don’t need a tasting menu to feel alive. A cold beer to wash it down. The sun sinking low. Locals laughing around you. Nothing profound, just perfect. This is the life they don’t advertise. The one you stumble into, beer in one hand, pintxo in the other, wondering how you ever lived without it.

My favorite pintxo spot in the Gros neighborhood. If you’re tired of the inflated prices and throngs of tourists in the old town, head across the river and discover where the locals eat. The bar top pintxos are stunning and delicious but they have several chalkboards indicating their hot pintxos that are made to order - and these should not be missed. The family that owns and operates this bar is wonderful and helpful.

Small place with great food and excellent service. Very innovative pintxos. The dining area is a bit funny, you have to go in thru the kitchen and they use the same room as a storage area.

Great fresh pintxos for a late lunch or snack. Everything is made fresh and the staff is patient to explain what is offered on the bar as well as what can be ordered on the menu.

Hidalgo has very nice staff and modest ambience. It is small and dining area is shared with their pantry supplies. Excellent wine choices and varied menu. Sauces that accompany meals were disappointing. Meat, poultry and fish quality were excellent. They tended to be undercooked but were corrected.

Great pintxos from the bar and the kitchen and fantastic wine. I really don't understand the smoked cheesecake however . Everything on the plate is great apart from the cheesecake itself which has a pleasant smoky flavour but is rock solid, I couldn't cut into it without pieces jumpimg off the plate.

The bacalao had this cool crab and tomato sauce that was so yummy. Very tasty and great. A few tables out side, decent wine. What more do you want? Totally put this place on your pintxos night out.

Staff friendly but not very well informed. When asked for the price of Vermouth the waitress said she doesn't know but around 3-4 Euro - how surprised was I when the bill said it was 6.20. Not that it's expensive, but it's very annoying when you are being told one thing by the staff and the reality is different. Also, we ordered gildas and they never arrived. Thankfully they weren't on the final bill. Drinks were good.

Appalling service - waiter (small bald man) took our simple order of coffee and pastry/drink for my child. 45 minutes later and still no delivery to table. He kept serving other guests who arrived, when I kept waving to get his attention he kept looking over and then waking back inside. Terrible behaviour when a child is clearly waiting at the table

Nice meal for a quick visit. But there are many restaurants in this city where you can eat much better. It’s convenient from the tourist bus and thus appealing. The plaza is nice to sit outside.

The terrace in the middle of the city is nice but the service from the waiters is completely worthless, took 15 minutes before they even pretended to notice us. Have only had breakfast and drinks here though so can't speak of the quality of the food. Upside is that the terrace is nice and it's not really much more expensive than any other of the nicer places in San Sebastián.

Elegant and contemporary cafe that's also a bar venue by night, with a dancefloor downstairs. Indoor and outdoor seating with a terrace. Located in a fine old building on the riverfront that is itself an arts venue of some kind. Friendly staff, good coffee, and some simple cafe food options.

Went here to watch a premier league football game on a Monday night. It’s small and we were the only people there for half the the time but the Bar staff were friendly and helpful, serving free popcorn at half time. Craft ales beers were nice if a little pricey at approx £10 per pint.

Craft beer pub with about 12 pumps if I remember correctly. With a decent variety of types of types of beer on offer and good music (while we were there I heard rock, soul, rap) a great place to hang out for after work drinks. The staff were really nice and the place was kept really clean with a decent well-stocked bathroom. I will be back to watch Premier/Champions League football (Newcastle United) here as they have a DAZN subscription as well as three large HD TVs inside. There is a small bar upstairs and a larger one in the basement, both with a large screen behind them so that you don't miss anything while ordering a drink and they even have one in the front window upstairs in case you need to nip out for a cigarette.

We went bar hopping on a Thursday and this was by far the worst sangria I have ever tasted.. way way too sweet, not tasting like it had any red wine and also why was there soda in there?? Also it was 7,50€ which is crazy for what we got

Should have read reviews before going, as others have mentioned there are no prices displayed and we ordered two espresso martinis and they were made in the kitchen out of sight and could not taste any alcohol in them. Somewhere to avoid.

Awful experience, very slow/uninterested staff, I ordered a cocktail and it was just water with a faint strawberry taste (which is a totally wrong ingredient by the way). Also there are NO prices on the menu which is also a sign of a tourist trap. If you like waiting more than 40 minutes for drinks I highly recommend this bar.

Stopped for a drink and whilst the service was good put off by the number of people eating fried food from a takeaway container around us. So many fabulous places to eat here why choose crap food in a takeaway box??

My first review was 6 years ago. It is still a fresh, friendly and exquisite cocktail bar with a well attended terrace in one of the most iconic squares in town. The staff is very professional, attentive and friendly. Still strong on excellent cocktails it also has a good variety of local and international beers. Again a must in San Sebastian.

Grim so called craft beer bar with 2 alcoholics heavy petting at the bar late afternoon without being challenged. Beer wasn't good. A looky looky man came in trying to sell me some socks or beads despite a weak attempt by a disinterested server to say leave. Moved outside when the alcoholic lady's ranting became unbearable and sat on a table which was empty and covered in used dishes and glasses when I went in and still not cleared an hour later despite a very slow flow of customers. No reason to return.

If you are a Tourist, don’t bother coming to this bar. You will be blatantly ignored. Curly haired girl blanked me and my wife several times and served people who had only just arrived even though we had waited patiently at the bar for several minutes. Even though I tried to ask to be served next she just said “No, there are many to serve”. Yes, no one that’s been stood here longer than us though. We gave her one more chance and yet again she blanked us so we walked. Shame as this bar was recommended by cycle tour guide. Headed over to Akerbeltz which was a much better experience.

Love this little thing place!! Had the pleasure of being served by the owner who was very knowledgeable of the local Basque beers - a must visit if you are in the area!!

Only 5 stars for the waitress. Should have been six. Really understands beer and very friendly. Great beers as well. Steer away from the creamy sour (my mistake).

Great bartender. He really knows his stuff. He was very professional and my goodness his cocktails were amazing. I got the maracujack…one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Only down side is the price. But if that’s not an issue for you then you’ll love it!

Loved the speak easy vibe. Small, quaint and off the beaten path. The best service and specialty cocktails in San Sebastian. Our group of 9 friends had a wonderful late evening chilling, drinking and sharing fun times together. This is the spot to enjoy! You won't regret checking it out. Possibly the best cocktails we’ve ever tasted!? Was blown away by how delicious and beautiful they were. Nico clearly is very experienced and knows his stuff. A high price point but definitely worth it.

Beautiful experience with Nico. Cocktails were amazing and the atmosphere is very cool and very well designed. I strongly recommand, ans especially the chocolate x rum pairing tomorrow June 12th at 7pm!! A must.

We were not sure what to expect, based on the web site we had high hopes, and they were totally exceeded. The bar has a very great speakeasy atmosphere which at once makes you relax. Then you get to the drinks, the choices are amazing, but what is even better is that the barman/cocktail extraordinaire loved to be challenged to come up with new/unique cocktails based on our likes, and he did not disappoint once, we had absolutely fabulous drinks. We ended up staying for a lot longer that we perhaps should have done, which resulted in a wobbly walk back to the hotel :)

Both cocktails and atmosphere are more than amazing. Service and music - ten stars out of five :) Definitely will be back!

Amazing! Had a great night! Very private and intimate setting. Great vibes. Met new people traveling from Bangkok. It’s in-between closed/empty shops but it does have a metal gold door with a blue awning. There is a key pad to enter your special assigned code. You have to send a text via WhatsApp to (+34) 943 05 15 71 requesting reservation for # of people and time. Luckily we got a quick response and code right away. Closed on Monday and Tuesday’s. Great service! Marco was friendly and the drinks are on point! Highly recommend.
