Fine dining restaurant
Ecuadorian restaurant
Latin American restaurant
Zazu is a renowned restaurant in Quito, known for its creative Ecuadorian cuisine and impeccable design. Founded by Chef David Picco, it offers seven-course tasting menus and a la carte options featuring dishes like ceviche, soups, and fish. The restaurant has gained international acclaim and was featured in top publications such as CNN and Andrew Harper Traveler. Peruvian chef Rafael Perez brings his expertise to Zazu, infusing the menu with contemporary Latin influences.
We enjoyed a Christmas Eve dinner with our family of 4. We ordered 3 mains and I did the vegetarian menu with wine pairing. The food was flavorful and fresh. The wine pairing was outstanding with surprise likes ..chardonnay from ecuador and pinot from Argentina. All meat was cooked well preserving the flavor...chicken , duck and beef. Beef tartarand crab were huge hits. And chocolate desserts were amazing!! Great experience.
Rebecca C — Google review
We asked for a nice place to have dinner while in Quito, and Zazu was recommended. It was excellent! The atmosphere was upscale but relaxed. Service was great. The food was superb! My wife had the duck and it was cooked perfectly. I had the crispy fish and it was delicious. If you’re staying at the JW Marriott, it’s $10 round trip in a cab and you need to take the cab.
Adam B — Google review
Went on a Wednesday night so was a little quiet but the decor was a bit dated. I ordered vegan from the set menu which was well accommodated by the staff. The food was good but some of the courses were not ‘wow’. To me the place is a little dated compared to other fine dining places I have been to. The staff were amazing and did such a great job and held a high level of professionalism. If you like fine dining and want an experience this is a good place to visit, however, I think you could get some tasty meals for less in the area.
Kieran B — Google review
We went on a recent trip to Quito and the food did not disappoint. The platting was beautiful and the food was delicious. We did the vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairing and it was excellent. The service was okay and definitely not up to the same standard as the food but we had an amazing experience regardless. If you are in Quito, this is definitely worth the price tag!
Craig L — Google review
For the price tag, the food wasn't fantastic enough. The plating was nice, and the food wasn't bad, but it just didn't have the "wow" factor. The restaurant was very quiet; we were the only guests for about half the meal. We were pleased to find the security was pretty good, and the staff waited outside with us until the cab came.
Kathryn A — Google review
The service was impeccable and every dish was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the mixed ceviche and the catch of the day and the almond soufflé for dessert.
Melinda-Rae L — Google review
The food was amazing! We didn’t take the tasting menu - the tartare was excellent, the pork was fantastic, and the crab was nice but a bit too busy. The duck main was cooked perfectly, and the service was great. The only downside was the “natural” juices, which didn’t taste fresh. Overall, great food and lovely service!
Net — Google review
We had a very enjoyable dinner here this evening. My husband ordered the stone crab appetizer and short rib dinner. He enjoyed both very much. I ordered the suckling pig taquitos and grilled filet. So good!! We were staying at the Marriott and it was just under $10 round trip taxi ride. After dinner, we asked the restaurant to call a taxi for us to take us back to the hotel. We had a short wait and they provided an after dinner digestif for us to enjoy while we waited for the taxi. The service was attentive. Highly recommend!!

Mexican restaurant
Tucked away just a stone's throw from Plaza Chile, La Vecindad de los Cuates is a delightful spot for those craving authentic Mexican cuisine paired with the excitement of soccer. The restaurant boasts an extensive menu featuring beloved classics like tacos al pastor and impressively long burritos that are sure to satisfy any appetite. The ambiance is warm and inviting, enhanced by bright decor that creates a cozy atmosphere perfect for gatherings.
Food was good I had that large platter and it was very good. The margaritas were excey

This is a Mexican food restaurant located in the vicinity of the Metropolitano Park. Parking is limited to a few street spots. The restaurant is well and brightly decorated. Service is friendly and quick. The menu contains a wide variety of dishes. Prices are competitive and fit different consumers. The place is kept clean and the ambiance is welcoming
Favo N — Google review
Food is usually good here. Not today, though. This dish was a mountain of lettuce with an oil-saturated soggy base. The meat was scarce. My dish was better, but still not worth the 42 bucks they tried to charge us.
Daniel H — Google review
I have been to this restaurant several times and the atmosphere is always a good one. The presentation of the food is good, and the taste of the food is good. However this is the first time I have ordered the food to my house via uber. It was not good. The food was dried out, the chips were very oily, and my wifes fajitas were also dried out. Wasn't worth the wait, or the cost. Better to go in to eat this food.
Jonathan P — Google review
GOOD TEX MEX. Craving some texmex? You're in the right place. The menu has lots of options and the price is not bad. The music was a little depressing the day I went, but apart from that I was satisfied.
Nathalie G — Google review
I wish I could give a better review, but the food was mediocre. They have the idea of what Mexican food should be but the ingredients and the preparation were not right. The service was slow and they could be more intuitive. The drinks are good.

Seafood restaurant
Zfood is a delightful fusion of a fish market and a seafood restaurant, making it the perfect spot for both purchasing fresh catches and enjoying an extensive menu filled with tantalizing seafood dishes. With its charming outdoor seating and bright naval-white interior, guests can choose their preferred dining atmosphere before indulging in culinary delights.
Exceptional dinner at Zfood this evening. Ceviche was memorable as were my prawns & my husband enjoyed his dish as well. Good size servings & festive table treats. REALLY wonderful flavors all served by our friendly & helpful waiter Christopher. I recommend Zfood highly.
Joy G — Google review
Good atmosphere and great service I like the seafood they served there plus you could see the display from where you sat! I’d go back for sure after goin for my first time I’d recommend them.
Maurice J — Google review
A beautiful restaurant with potential. It seems to be lacking staff and coordination. I went at a peak hour when every table was full, though I didn't have to wait to be seated. It did, however, take a while before any waiter noticed I had been assigned a table to introduce themselves. It's terrible to sit at a table ignored waiting to know which waiter is assigned to your section. The staff were clearly over capacity with the full restaurant. You could sense the panic from the staff trying to keep up with the mountain of orders. The linen napkins ran out, stacks of dirty plates were visibly accumulating in the kitchen preparation area, and the bartender was frantically going around the restaurant trying to recover glasses for the drinks he needed to prepare. My rice arrived with a piece crab shell in it, even though I didn't order crab. Good thing I'm only allergic to shrimp, but I warned the waiter that this type of cross-contamination can be very dangerous for some customers. In the caos of their peak hour, the open kitchen format exposed the restaurant to the staff's frustration with one another, yelling at and scolding each other with disrespect. It greatly disturbs the intended ambiance of the restaurant to see staff mistreating and belittling each other in front of all the customers. It's truly sad. I tried to order a second glass of wine to cope, and it never came. I'm sure this is a wonderful restaurant when it isn't full, because they clearly cannot manage full capacity. I do wish them well as they work to increase their capacity and provide additional training to their personnel.
Isabel S — Google review
This was my first experience at Zfood, and it didn’t disappoint! The food was spectacular and the service was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive and very kind. Definitely recommending this wonderful restaurant to friends and family!
Ghada H — Google review
Seafood was not impressive, small clams, small muscles , and on a very expensive side. Did not try the big fried fish but it looked good. Wine was great.
Q N — Google review
Hands down the best food and service I have experienced in not only Ecuador but many of the countries to which I have traveled! My server, Galo, was extremely attentive and kind and spoke great English. He also gave great recommendations for the food! Definitely the best ceviche I have ever had. The atmosphere was very tranquil and peaceful too. A must go/try if you’re reading this!
Elisabeth D — Google review
Good. Good quality seafood, with good atmosphere, and very friendly service. I don’t know if it deserves all the accolades and recognition that it’s gotten. It is a solid choice if you want good fish options. We also ordered the cheesecake after which was good but again, not great. I found this place mentioned on several blogs so I had grand expectations. We ordered the fish of the day which had great presentation but seemed only flavored with salt, and too much of it. The wait was extremely long and the vegetables and potatoes were entirely too salty. $100/for 2 people included 2 drinks each, 2 entrees and a dessert overall good experience.
Mariah J — Google review
We went to Zfood for lunch and had a great experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. We started with some delicious pacific oysters with a variety of mignonettes and a prawn Bloody Mary which was an excellent drink to start with. For our mains we ordered the seafood platter and the seafood stew (Cataplana), they were both great, the seafood was perfectly cooked and the portions were generous. I would certainly recommend a visit to Zfood if you want good seafood and will definitely go back for more

Asian fusion restaurant
Nubori is a popular restaurant in Quito that offers a unique dining experience with its Asian fusion cuisine. The menu, curated by executive chef Noe Carmona, features a blend of traditional Asian flavors and modern international influences. Known for its fresh sushi, creative rolls, and contemporary twists on classic dishes, Nubori provides a sensory delight for food enthusiasts. The restaurant boasts a spacious and stylish interior with a modern lounge-like ambiance.
Excellent Nikkei food alternative. I took the 5 course tasting menu, it was fantastic. It is an experience worth saving. Dishes are very well balanced, adequate portions and consistent serving times. Good selection of wines and cocktails, recommended the bloody Mary. Free parking in the building. The service needs improve, there seems to be a bit chaos between the maitre and waitress, as there appears to be a lack of internal communication on simple things like when you order a cocktail and three different people come up to ask you about the same thing or you order a wine and then they tell you that they don't have 🙄 they brought us the first course, and nobody explained what it was. With the following dishes I had to ask what the sauce was, how it was prepared, they served us a piece of meat well done, but never asked us or mentioned the doneness it came with. The are service mistakes you wouldn't expect at a restaurant of that level
Mireya C — Google review
Visited in August 2024. Ecuador. Quito. Nubori, located conveniently near our hotel, caught our attention with its positive reviews and tempting photos. Japanese cuisine is a favorite of ours, so we were eager to give it a try. The restaurant is spacious and stylish, with a modern lounge-like ambiance. The interior, though, is rather dark, a feature that might not be to everyone's taste. Food: We typically order several small plates at Asian restaurants to get a better feel for the establishment. This time, we were drawn to the Stone Crab Salad. The photos looked enticing, and the dish lived up to the visual appeal initially. However, it was more of a crab presentation than a salad. We received a few crab claws in a nest of fried dough with a minimal amount of green salad and cherry tomatoes on the side, perhaps two small handfuls. The crab itself was cooked well, but served cold, which negatively impacted the overall experience. The fried dough nest was incredibly dry and inedible, seemingly an unnecessary decorative element. Another dish that caught our eye was the hot Lobster Roll, beautifully presented in photos. It tasted good, but the lobster was overshadowed by the creamy cheese and avocado. The rolls were a bit misshapen, but the warm temperature saved the dish, making it melt in our mouths. Overall, a good dish with a few reservations. We also sampled other rolls, with the Foie Gras roll being a standout. The hot rolls were also well-received. The rice in the rolls was cooked perfectly, slightly firm with a pleasant texture and taste. Service: The servers were not very fluent in English, but we managed to place our order successfully with the help of some pictures. The service was decent, but there were a few misunderstandings. When we ordered sake, they informed us it was unavailable and brought a different sake without asking. This felt strange, as a simple question would have sufficed. However, the dishes arrived quickly, and the staff was friendly. Conclusion: Nubori is a decent Asian restaurant with a stylish interior. They offer many interesting appetizers, and for Quito, the ambiance is a rarity. However, we felt the prices were inflated for the quality and taste they provided. Nevertheless, Quito's restaurant scene is limited, and this might be one of the best options available. We visited Nubori multiple times and would recommend it - you'll have a pleasant evening.
Olga M — Google review
Though tasty and very well presented, extremely expensive for what you get, especially the drinks. Very small wine portion for $9, small sake carafe for $14. Cooking odors in the seating area. Ramen had no egg. We travel all over the world and have no problem paying but get annoyed when we feel that we are exploited. Think twice before going..
Alice R — Google review
Great experience! Service was amazing and we loved everything we tried. Try the rainbow roll!
Steph S — Google review
Definitely the best service I ever had in a restaurant. Food was good, although nothing exceptional (for the price). Nice variety of wines.
Yannick L — Google review
Atmosphere is great and so is the food! My favorite was the lobster roll which not only tasted good but was delicately presented. I noticed that the presentation of the food was quite amazing and honestly probably makes the food look better than it tastes. The atmosphere is great, feels like a Michelin star restaurant. Highly recommended!
Allen L — Google review
I got the Nubori experience in the night before my flight and it was the meal to end my 2 week love affair with Quito. Got the triple delight Ceviche and sushi sampler and my tastes buds were loving every bite. Damage was only $40 for my experience.
Long — Google review
I would give them a 5 stars if it’s not because the prices ok alcohol. The dishes and taste are amazing and worth paid for what you order but a wine bottle of $20 usd charged in 80 (4 times ) and a espresso martini charged in 7-9 times the price is too much . They charge a “shot of baileys in $10 usd when they use the half for a espresso martinis and at the end that is Totally outrageous

If you're a fan of Mexican cuisine, Frida Tacos is an absolute must-visit in Quito. This vibrant eatery stands out among the many Mexican restaurants in the area, offering authentic dishes that transport you straight to Mexico. Guests rave about their chilaquiles, tacos, and salsas, with some even claiming it’s the best real Mexican food in town. The ambiance is enhanced by lively decorations and Mariachi music that create a festive atmosphere.
Street Style tacos !!! Really good ! If you are looking for good and not so expensive Mexican food in Quito this is the place !!

Cute rooftop, very nice staff. I ordered a whiskey sour and they were out of whiskey so they went to the store to get it and make my drink!
Adrienne C — Google review
The chilaquiles were spot on, with the proper flavors and preparation reminding me of being back in Mexico. The pozole wasn't quite there although they had the right assortment of toppings served with it. The salsas were also quite good with a nice balance of spice.
Angel D — Google review
Good prices for super tasty tacos and nice drinks. Food is quickly served. Looking forward to go back to try the rest of the menu. Veggie/Vegan friendly
Gaetano R — Google review
Best Tacos in Quito. PERIOD :) This is a family-friendly restaurant that excels in quality food and service. For parents, there are exotic margaritas and local IPAs.
KAREL L — Google review
This is the best taco place in Quito that I've found. It reminds me of ¿Por Que No? in Portland, Oregon--a famous, authentic-if-hipster taco joint. The problem is that prices reflect this quality, and it would probably be $13+ for one to feel they have really eaten a fullish meal. That being said, I'd return... and plan to.
Dan H — Google review
Place has the closest thing to Mexican food (I'm Mexican) in the country. A bit expensive. 5 dollars for 2 small tacos is a bit wild. Saying that, tacos, hot salsa, and micheladas we're amazing. To finally have some spicy food made my day.
Jaime R — Google review
Best real mexican food in Quito, the food is wonderful and the prices very good, I had totopos with guacamole and gringa de pollo amazing it was like I was eating in Mexico, the margaritas look very good but this time I couldn't have one, they also had a great selection of local beers. The decorations and the music was also a plus. This is a new favorite place for me in Quito, kudos to Ana & Jorge for this wonderful place

As an exchange student in 1999-2000 we basically lived here. Great food, great margaritas and daiquiris, great people/owner, great atmosphere. At least it was 16 years ago, and I hope it hasn't changed. Somewhere on the wall is may still say "for the record, buzzed at the Pepper."

Great tasting food but management has no sense....ordered a combo meal and food was good quality and tasted great. But I ordered a cubalibre with diet coke...I was charged the full price of cocktail plus additional cost for full bottle of diet coke which I never got....I asked if manager had problem with charging me for 2 drinks when I got 1....this confused him and he insisted I pay for 2....like I said no sense!!

This was just "okay". Food wasn't bad...just wasn't particularly special in any way. And pricing was high compared to other places in Quito (and also for the quality of the food). This place seems designed for tourists.

The food was very good, I think I could say that it is the best Mexican food in Quito. At first they didn't want to give us one more chair, even though we were at the table with a baby they sent us outside and when they brought something we didn't ask for they got upset first. Despite that, as I mentioned, the food was excellent and although the prices are a bit high, I recommend this place.

The food was super good. The place charming and nice. I’d definitely go back again.
Jair A — Google review
Great restaurant, very friendly staff. Had the Chicken Burrito Manuel and it was delicious. Its too big for one person to eat alone so best to share it with someone. Will definitely return.
Daz A — Google review
The food wasn't quite the same as in Mexico, but it was still good. I had the enchiladas and they were covered in cheese! The Cuba Libre was strong. The free chips and guacamole were a nice addition to justify the higher price.
Bill W — Google review
Not the best enchilada I ate, but defenitely not the worst. They serve you some tacos as appetizer which is neat. The amount and the taste together do not justify the price though, thus 3 stars.
Julian W — Google review
Maybe I'm spoiled from having traveled in Mexico, but this was pretty poor as far as Mexican food goes. I got three pastor tacos - one of my favorite things to get in Mexico. The tortillas seemed like they'd been frozen and then heated up in a microwave, the meat was seasoned but still bland and dry, and the guacamole had close to zero flavor. I ended up paying three times what I would have for the same thing in Mexico, but for food that didn't even come remotely close to the quality I could get from a street stand there.
Eric D — Google review
This is one of my favorite Mexican places in Quito. They have a good menu that is made well and good service. The inside is pretty typical, but they have a nice view of a fairly interesting corner to watch in Plaza Foche. The chilaquiles are good and the normal tacos also. Try a michelada also

Taco restaurant
Los Tacos Del Gordo, located in Quito, offers a traditional taqueria experience with a disclaimer that it's not shawarma. The restaurant is known for its delicious tacos al pastor and sausage, accompanied by hot sauces similar to those found in Mexico. Customers praise the spacious and well-decorated venue, making it their go-to taco place in the city. Some note that the prices are slightly high for the portion sizes but appreciate the authentic street taco flavors.
This is one of my favorites places to eat tacos, is just like a traditional “taqueria” its very nice and goes totally with the food, I’m in love of the “tacos al pastor”
Alejandra C — Google review
Great flavor, authentic street tacos. The prices are a bit exaggerated for the size of the portions

best tacos in town, taste like mexico, good prices
Carlos O — Google review
Super good! We had the 15 taco special, it was a great deal for the price. The pastor and sausage were the best. The hot sauces made it even better, they were similar to those in Mexico. The place is spacious and great decoration. This is my go to taco place in the city. 100% recommended!
Luis C — Google review
Obviously, if we try a new kind of food , we can expect diferent food...!!
Marcelo G — Google review
Eh. It's ok. The Al pastor needs more flavor. While it is cooked on the traditional spit, and topped with pineapple, the flavor isn't there. Needs more of the pastor flavor (Chipotle or any sort of chili) The sauces are good and authentic Mexican. No rush to head back.

Taco restaurant
Gallo Rojo Taquería is a cozy and colorful spot located at Hernando de Soto y Angel Ludena. Once Lenin's garage, it now offers an intimate dining experience with seating in the living room or kitchen. The food is freshly made, and the cocktails are unique. The chef takes time to explain each dish, showing a passion for cooking that results in outstanding flavors. While there aren't many vegetarian options on the menu, the chef is willing to accommodate special requests.
My friends and I walked into Gallo Rojo Taquería last night without a reservation, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and found us a table quickly. The friendly service continued throughout the meal, with our waiter being attentive and helpful. The food arrived fast and fresh. The star of the show was definitely the quesadilla de Birria de res. Don't miss their limonada con hierba buena, a refreshing and fragrant take on a classic lemonade. For budget-minded taco lovers, be sure to check out their Thursday special: two tacos of the same kind for only $1.25 each! This is a great way to try their delicious Birria de Res, which seems to be their specialty (and for good reason!). While the burrito I had was good, the other dishes stole the show. Overall, our experience was fantastic. The delicious food, friendly service, and great value make it a definite must-try. I'll absolutely be back to explore more of their menu! Additional Tips: - If you're driving, there's convenient parking available right outside the restaurant. There's a friendly lady who will watch your car for a small fee (bring coins to pay her). - Just a heads up that they accept cash or electronic transfers for payment.
Sofía C — Google review
El Gallo Rojo was a very nice surprise. It’s a little hole in the wall that packs a big punch in flavor. It’s a cozy place that doesn’t have a lot of seating but trust me you definitely have to come. The prices are reasonable and they also have drink specials. I ordered the tacos de barbacoa and they were delicious. The meat was tender and juicy with just the right touch of sweetness. The nachos were stuffed with pico the callo, guacamole, black beans, cheese and your choice of protein. I chose birria de res. The burrito is big and also very filling. Highly recommend you visit. The only downside is the parking situation. There is only street parking and the street is a little narrow. Other than that, come and enjoy some very tasty dishes!

Que rico! The best Mexican food I’ve had in months and the Micheladas are so delicious. Service was excellent. There aren’t tons of vegetarian options on the menu but the chef gladly made me a vegetarian dish upon request.

Awesome, freshly produced food and interesting cocktails ( none of these sugary premixes that seem to be so popular here). The chef took time to explain the dishes and how they are prepared - it was obvious that he cooks with heart and soul and the result is outstanding . I appreciated the personalized service - it felt a bit like eating at a friend's house. A lovingly decorated house , at that. We will def be back, eventually we will want to eat our way through the whole menu.

(Translated by Google) I'll give some constructive criticism! I knew them when they were just a small restaurant and they were just starting to sell. I see they're more famous now. I like that the owner is truly Mexican, and that the seasoning really resembles the Mexico I know. The portions are medium, but I think the price has gone up a lot. The service is always friendly, but very slow. Like the delivery of the product, I'm sad how tables keep going because of the time it takes not only to take the order but also to serve it. I hope they improve. And I would go back. Espero mejoren. Y si volvería.

(Translated by Google) I loved the experience, we tried a promotion on tacos and it came out at a very good price since we bought 3x2... The price of the tacos is already low so they are highly recommended for that reason as well. We were more than full and I really loved the presentation of the food along with the flavor. The tasty micheladas with their spicy touch and the ready-made taco sauces. The very good prices were actually one of the main reasons why we opted for this place. The man who serves is very friendly and the atmosphere is excellent to go with family or group. Las micheladas sabrosas con su toque picantico y las salsas de los tacos a punto. Los precios muy buenos la verdad fue una de las principales razones por las que nos inclinamos por este lugar.
