Steak house
Vintage Chophouse and Tavern is a trendy restaurant and bar known for its selection of high-quality steaks and seafood, as well as an extensive wine list. The menu features mouthwatering cuts of steak, including the Butchers Block Chefs Cut and a 32-ounce bone-in prime rib chop. Guests can choose from a variety of sauces and decadent add-ons like King Crab legs.
From the moment we walked in, the experience felt elevated and thoughtfully curated. The staff were incredibly professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The interior design was both luxurious and tasteful, creating a perfect ambiance for a special evening. I ordered the carbonara pasta, and it was absolutely delicious—creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The steak was, without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. Every detail, from the plating to the pacing of service, was impeccable. It’s definitely a high-end restaurant, but the quality justifies the price. This is the kind of place you come back to for celebrations or when you want to treat yourself. Even the desserts were on another level—artful, balanced, and indulgent. Truly one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

A really nice restaurant with a great atmosphere and excellent service — and the food goes without saying. Alberta steak is always amazing, and the Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection. They also have a wide selection of alcoholic drinks. Since our visit happened to be during Stampede week, there was no live music that evening, which was a slight pity, but overall I was very satisfied with this dining experience and would gladly come back again.

Vintage Chophouse is definitely a steakhouse! It has a dark and dimly lit ambience with menus that light up to make it easier to read. If you don't know what you want, no problem! The staff will be more than happy to tell you more about the characteristics of different cuts and how they pair with different drinks (if that's your style). They are also very knowledgeable about their drinks menu too. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to steaks so you'll be the best judge of quality (it's a fairly nice steakhouse; they aren't skimping on you). As for seafood, their scallops are cooked beautifully! They were seared beautifully on the outside and very juicy but not firm on the inside. Great service, great drinks. There might even be a live band or jazz! Street parking.

We had such a good first experience here celebrating my husbands birthday. We got the shrimp cocktail, steak tartare & Caesar salad to start. And the 16oz bone in New York strip to share with broccolini & lobster Mac & cheese. Everything was good but the steak was great! Very well seasoned and grilled to perfection. As per our server’s recommendation, we had ours grilled medium rare which my husband prefers and the pieces closer to the bone were rare enough for me!! Thank you Dean for the great service 🙏🏻
Amanda R — Google review
Love that they bring out the butcher board when you sit down so you can know what you're ordering. The backlit menus are a nice touch since it's relatively dim interior. All the mat dishes were fantastic from the lamb chops to the steaks. The seafood tower is impressive looking but not the highest quality, would just skip that and instead get the large tomahawk for our group of 4.
Victor W — Google review
My steak was tough, coco vin was good, shrimp was very ordinary, short ribs were nothing just barely OK,overdone. Salads were OK. Overpriced for what we ordered. Six people. Waitstaff was slow with the bill and it wasn’t that busy.
Douglas P — Google review
Ordered a vintage salad, drink, prime ribeye (medium rare), and scalloped potatoes. Total $136.50 + $24.57 (tip). The salad was a healthy portion and tasted good, dressing was evenly distributed and the bacon and croutons were of an appropriate amount. The steak was unfortunately a major disappointment, it tasted extremely burnt, every bite I could taste charcoal which ruined the entire meal for me. I hope this is not how they normally cook their steaks, it was very challenging to finish it. The cheddar scalloped potatoes could have used more seasoning, it was quite bland but was edible. Service was good, but I would never come here again for steak. I tried to get the picture in the best possible light without disrupting others with flash, but even then I hope you can see how burnt that steak looks.
Will L — Google review
We came here for dinner and I ordered Brant Lake Wagyu Ribeye with sauteed mushrooms. One bite away from heaven. The steak melted into my mouth; all the fat juices and herbs. The mushroom is an amazing pairing for the meats. All my friends seemed enjoy their dishes too. The service was very attentive. The ambience is very fine and fancy. Very recommended!

Oh my god — I’m truly impressed. This will definitely be my favorite place in Calgary. Everything was perfect, from the warm and welcoming hostess to the amazing ambiance. The décor is beautiful, the bar is stylish, and the seating is both comfortable and elegant. The service was exceptional — my waiter was attentive, kind, and genuinely pleasant. I didn’t manage to try all the dishes this time, but I will definitely be back. The oysters were simply outstanding, and the happy hour was one of the best I’ve experienced. I highly recommend this restaurant — it’s an absolute gem in Calgary, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

You'd definitely expect A LOT MORE. It took half an hour to get our drink order taken after we were seated. My coffee came with rotten milk. Some of the cutlery was rusty and some was broken. It was so loud I couldn't hear what the people at my table were saying. When the food finally did come I was surprised at how little we got. It also dawned on me that I wasn't asked how I wanted my steak. I'm glad it came the way I like it. The mashed potatoes that came with it were cold. My wife's pasta was very salty. As it was my birthday they brought me a cup of freezer burned sorbet. HUGE LET DOWN. Especially when the bill came. I'm guessing they glide by on past glory. Don't bother.

Went for my husband's birthday and it was lovely. Service was excellent, food was delicious, and the overall atmosphere was classy without feeling stuffy. There was also live music, which was a nice surprise. It was our first time and we will definitely be back!

We visited Calgary in early September and had dinner at Hy’s Steakhouse. We ordered the New York Strip and the Rib Steak Neptune; hands down the best steaks I’ve ever had in my life. I’m still dreaming about that steak! The flavor, tenderness, and quality were on another level. Of course, the amazing Alberta beef definitely played a big part in how incredible those steaks were. I’d highly, highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Calgary.
Mahtab Z — Google review
My current go-to for a high-end steakhouse! Can get really busy and a bit too crowded but will come back for the food and service! The oysters plus Massolino d’asti was the best and I still crave for it at times! Steak was perfectly cooked to our liking and our server made us feel taken care of and didn’t feel like he is rushing us! I just wosh they have more vegan dessert options but other than that, it was perfect!
M S — Google review
The service with Nikola was EXEMPLARY AND VEREY MUCH APPRECIATED! He saw to it that our table was constantly kept clear of crumbs (something we didn’t observe with others). What we did not enjoy was the steak. We ordered a porterhouse well done (I know most people don’t like to cook steak well but it’s how we like it). The steak itself was $128 CAD and I was expecting a steak to be on par if not better than what we get in the US for a similar price. It was barely a 1/2 inch thinking that and they cut it into ribbons. I don’t know if that is the Canadian way nor not but it ruined my steak for me. Also, we requested light seasoning and they put a LOT on it and it ended up making me very unwell. The salt seemed to dry me out from the inside. Overall the food was disappointing and unfortunate.
Onthegoboomer — Google review
A really nice Happy Hour in the lounge. The Happy Hour menu online was slightly different than in the restaurant. On Saturday around 5 PM they had a musician, which made for a cool vibe. The service was fantastic.
Fancy T — Google review
Hy’s Steakhouse in Calgary was an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was elegant and welcoming, and the food was outstanding , perfectly cooked steaks and sides that were just as memorable. What truly made the night special, though, was our server. He was absolutely amazing by far the best server we have ever had. He was attentive, friendly, and funny & genuinely went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. This was hands down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had, and we can’t recommend Hy’s enough for anyone looking for top-notch food and service.

The restaurant is celebrated for its elegant ambiance, featuring burgundy leather and chandeliers. It has earned a reputation as a favorite among the city's oil barons, offering an exceptional dining experience centered around aged cuts of locally sourced Alberta beef.
One of the best dining experiences we had in Calgary! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived, and the service throughout the night was both professional and friendly. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I both had the New York strip cooked to medium rare, and I added black tiger shrimp on the side—they were perfectly cooked and even more amazing than I expected. We also enjoyed some fantastic local Alberta beers, which paired wonderfully with the meal. Overall, 10 out of 10. Highly recommended!

This place was amazing! Hands-down, the best steak in Calgary that we had! If I was back here, I would definitely go again! Obviously, we got the steak. We also had some wine and some amazing ice wine! We did not have a reservation, but we able were able to get in. Once you get inside, it is a beautiful restaurant! Apparently one of the presidents of the US came to dine here…. I forget which one…. The service was amazing. Our waiter was awesome. He let us split a steak, which was great because I don’t normally do that. But also this steak he had to cook in front of us, which was really cool. Fire! The cheesy bread was so good I wanted more. I highly recommend this place!
Terra S — Google review
What an amazing dining experience! The T-bone steak cooked over open flames was absolutely perfect – juicy, flavorful, and grilled to perfection. The pan-fried shrimp was seasoned beautifully and so tasty. We also loved the garlic cheese bread, warm and delicious with just the right amount of flavor, and finished the meal with one of the lightest, fluffiest cheesecakes I’ve ever had. On top of the outstanding food, the vibrant atmosphere and excellent service made the evening even more enjoyable. Truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Calgary – highly recommend!

Great steaks house in downtown Calgary. Had a reservation for Sat evening, place was busy Really nice wait staff - helpful and patient. Menu and wine selection quite good - variety was nice to see. Food - very tasty, good range of options. Dessert - worth saving room for! Would definitely repeat for this place
Richard K — Google review
We visited calgary this week and of course had to try the oldest steakhouse in Calgary, full of history & Alberta steaks charbroiled on an opening flame grill 🤤 When we arrived, they wanted to seat us at the edge of the dining room but I requested a view of the open flame grill area and they were able to accommodate! Very much appreciated! We ordered: Garlic bread & cheese bread💕 French Onion Soup House made Caesar Salad 💕 Rib Eye 💕 with Lobster Tail Lamb Rack The garlic and cheese covered bread that they give was so light and fluffy while toasted on the outside. Their caesar salad was delicious! Fresh lettuce and one of the tastiest house made caesar dressings I've had. The ribeye was very good, but the lobster tail was a bit overcooked and tough.
Allison K — Google review
Best of the best. We had a five star experience. Went there with my family. Service was AWESOME. can’t do it any better. Drinks (wine and beer) were really good. And now it comes to the food. Startet with garlic and Parmesan cheese bread. I had the ribeye 400gr and the other ones in my party took the Neptune (filet with prawns) I never had a steak that good before. It was so flavorful. I highly recommend that place and would ever come again here. Best wishes.

My partner and I recently dined here for his birthday and it was truly our favorite experience in the city. The service and food were absolutely impeccable and the beautifully lit, warm atmosphere made everything feel extra special. Thank you Caesar's for making his birthday such a memorable night.😊

First of all the steak was delicious, cooked to perfection. The sides needed some work. Cheese toast couldn’t be bothered. The server was excellent. Helpful and very attentive The area could use a good scrub. Not dirty but needs a lift if that makes sense!

The upscale steakhouse is celebrated for its exceptional service and elegant atmosphere, providing guests with the opportunity to indulge in premium cuts and gourmet dishes. We ordered steak tartar it comes with chips and it tasted so good! The cheesy bread it’s a little bit salty but it was good too! The whole environment was so nice many people come here to celebrate occasions. We ordered steak for two, it was a T bone steak with salt on side. It’s super delicious! Good for three people as well! Also, the black truffle gnocchi was my favorite! It was so creamy and flavorful. Cocktails were delicious too I ordered jalapeno one I love it! For sides we ordered crispy cauliflowers and broccolini, def love them!
Nalasa C — Google review
Our experience at Chairman’s Steakhouse was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere felt refined yet welcoming, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. We started with fresh oysters and a round of their incredible whiskies which paired beautifully with the meal to come. The crab Wellington was absolutely to die for—flaky pastry, rich crab filling, and every bite bursting with flavor. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection, juicy, tender, and seasoned just right, truly showcasing the quality of the meat. Every dish seemed to hit every note of taste and flavor, making it hard to pick a favorite. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, dessert proved otherwise the sticky toffee pudding was warm, indulgent, and comforting, while the cheesecake sandwich was playful yet decadent, the perfect sweet finish to the night. Chairman’s delivers not just a dinner, but an elevated dining experience where every detail from the food to the service makes you want to come back again and again. We had a perfect date night ❤️

This is the first steakhouse I've tried outside of downtown Calgary. I'm extremely pleased with everything! Most importantly, the steak was spectacular. One of the best steaks I've had in a while. They have a Wednesday special for two which includes cheese toast, salad and cheesecake. The cheese cake is just perfect. It's sufficient for 2-3 people to share post dinner and it's not too heavy. Our server was great. Constantly checking up on us and keeping everything moving at a good pace. If you can book to sit outdoors on a nice day, do it!! The lake view is really nice. Overall, a great experience and I look forward to coming back.

Absolutely outstanding experience at Chairman’s Steakhouse in Calgary! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere exuded class and sophistication — elegant décor, soft lighting, and impeccable service that made us feel truly special. The steaks were cooked to absolute perfection — juicy, tender, and full of rich flavor. You can really taste the quality and care put into every bite. The sides and appetizers were just as impressive, and the wine list paired beautifully with our meal. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. It’s clear that this place sets the standard for fine dining in Calgary. Whether it’s for a celebration, a date night, or just to treat yourself — Chairman’s Steakhouse is an experience you won’t forget. Highly recommended!

I, along with my family, had an amazing experience. My parents were visiting us from Seattle, and I decided to take them for dinner at Chairman’s Steakhouse. I’m so glad I made that choice! The food was exquisite, and the entire experience was wonderful. We were attended by Shama, who was incredibly gracious and super friendly. We truly loved the atmosphere, the food, the staff’s hospitality, and the overall ambience. I’ll definitely be revisiting! Also, it was my birthday dinner 😊
Ritu P — Google review
Starting with drinks, the Old Fashioned really hits the spot- definitely 5 stars. The Santa Barbara cocktail was excellent, also 5 stars, but the Spanish wine (9 oz) was a miss for me at just 2 stars. The Caesar was disappointing (0 stars), while the beer scores 4 stars. The complimentary bread and spread were ok, maybe a 3-star, but nice to have. For mains, the Alberta Free Run Chicken was delicious at 5 stars, though the caramelized onions made it a touch sweeter than I’d like. The 8 oz tenderloin tasted good 4 stars but at $65, I’m not sure it fully justifies the price. On a side note, the order of gnocchi was really disappointing honestly, I’d just skip it. Dessert, the creme brulee, was excellent 5 stars. Overall, a lot of the experience is about the ambiance and location both are really nice. Service was great everywhere I went, from the lobby to the dining area and even in the washrooms. We ended up spending $280 for two people, including taxes and tip, so it’s definitely on the pricey side.
Chandra S — Google review
My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday, and our first visit to Chairman’s was absolutely wonderful. Our server, I think her name was Amy or Mary, made the night so special. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared that we enjoyed everything. She recommended the Westman Colada (which I loved), and my boyfriend tried the new Santa Barbara cocktail but didn’t quite like it. Without hesitation, she made sure we were both happy and took care of it, bringing him the same drink because he liked mine better. That kind of service really stood out. We started with the Wagyu carpaccio, thin, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For dinner, we got the petit filet and the 12oz Reserve Chairman cut, with roasted mushrooms, mashed potatoes, broccolini and both kinds of mac and cheese (with and without lobster). Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. The birthday cheesecake was the perfect finishing touch. Even the bathrooms were spotless and stunning, you can tell how much attention to detail goes into every part of the experience. Between the amazing food, warm atmosphere, and exceptional service, this is definitely our new go-to for special occasions. Huge thank you to the team for making the night so memorable!

An excellent Calgary steakhouse. The oysters were fresh and well done. The pan seared Scallops were very tasty, perhaps slightly heavy on the sauce. The steaks were really well prepared and well presented. One of our steaks was overdone but to the credit of the restaurant they saw it and correct it themselves, a nice touch. The cheese toast was excellent and a must. The lobster Mac & Cheese is also a must try. This restaurant has a really nice ambience, good service and the steak is really well done. Definitely worth a visit.

Modern Steak on Stephen Avenue in Calgary is a top choice for steak lovers due to its focus on serving locally sourced beef from various Alberta ranches. The restaurant's pride lies in its Modern Benchmark Black Angus, which comes from the offspring of a bull owned by the establishment. Owner Stephen Deere's meticulous approach to breeding, feeding, and grilling is evident throughout the venue, with informative materials available for guests.
Great spot for Halal steaks in Calgary. There are a broad variety of options on the menu to suit all palates, and the staff did a great job at making recommendations for us to try. There's ample space for dining-in, and the food comes quickly to your table. Special mention to the sticky toffee pudding, which was the perfect dessert to cap off our meal. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area!

We were given a hand signed card, complimentary bubbly upon arrival, incredible service by all the staff (shout out to our server Tess, you were awesome), delicious food (get the mashed potatoes) and a complimentary dessert. The DJ set the perfect mood too. Everything here was incredible!

I recently celebrated a special occasion at Modern Steakhouse, and the experience exceeded all expectations. I had mentioned in advance that it was a celebration, and the team went above and beyond to make the day unforgettable. From the beautifully arranged bouquet and handwritten card to the complimentary starter drinks, every detail was thoughtful and personal. The service was outstanding, Marina (our hostess) and the manager Trevor truly ensured that everything was flawless. Their hospitality and attention to detail made this celebration the highlight of our special day. Highly recommend Modern Steakhouse for anyone looking for not just a meal, but a memorable experience. 💯

I dined at this restaurant last night and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. The level of service was truly exceptional—some of the best I’ve encountered in recent memory. From the moment we were seated, our server, Peter, made us feel welcome and well cared for. I ordered the ribeye steak, which was cooked to absolute perfection—beautifully seared on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and seasoned just right to bring out the full flavor of the meat. Peter recommended a bottle of red wine to accompany the meal, and his suggestion was spot-on. The wine paired wonderfully with the steak, enhancing the overall dining experience. What stood out most was Peter’s attentiveness and professionalism. He was warm, knowledgeable, and always seemed to anticipate what we needed without being intrusive. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality made a lasting impression. This was not just a great meal, but a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be returning and will be recommending this place to friends and family.

The service was very attentive and welcoming--including the hostess, floor manager, waiter, and runner. Each one was very friendly and helpful. As a sort of amuse-bouche, we were provided with truffle oil topped popcorn, which my wife enjoyed. I had the ribeye which was perfectly done, very tender, juicy, and well seasoned. Probably the best steak that I've had in a long while. My wife had the braised rib which was also very tender but could have used a touch more salt. It was served with wide, flat noodles that had a good texture and taste. To finish we had the chocolate cake which was decent but a little too dense and dry and could have used more raspberry coulee but otherwise had a good taste. Overall, it was a very good experience.

Spend the afternoon on the rooftop of Modern Steak and man was it good. Marina was our server and she was incredible. Polite, friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the menu making some fantastic recommendations. The food was fresh and very flavourful. The patio was clean and bright. Was a great experience and meal all around. Will be back for sure. 5 stars!

We came here for the August Date Night and the food and wine pairings (at least the wine we chose) was very good! The NY Strip was cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes for the sides were huge !! The only thing I didn’t like as much was the crispy potatoes, but they were still good, just not for me :))

One of the popular Steakhouses in Calgary Interior is chic, service is excellent and prices are reasonable. They've got outdoor patio and a patio rooftop . For food their NY strip was cooked to well, although I did prefer medium rare it came medium to medium-well. The fillet mignon was delicious along with their sides. Overall a great place and great location.

The food here is very good and reasonably priced for the quality. We had the fillet mignon, New York style steak, and fillet angus. Their homemade desserts are also delicious. We had the apple pie and cheesecake. Shout out to our server, Rhiannon for her friendliness, care and overall positive attitude that made our experience even better. She gave good recommendations and her sense of humor maintained a good mood. The ambience was also good - not too loud and very cozy.

Hands down the best restaurant experience we had in three weeks exploring Canada. From the moment we sat down on the first night Katie welcomed us and instantly cured our blues from our flight being cancelled. The shrimp pasta was 10/10. We returned for a second night and were greeted by Emma who's sincerity and warmness travelled through the restaurant. We honestly can't recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back... All the way from Ireland. A must visit!!!

Cynthia was absolutely amazing in helping us organize our wedding. She truly put her heart into taking care of every little detail, and because of her, everything went smoothly and perfectly. The staff were friendly and provided outstanding service throughout the day. Our guests loved the atmosphere and the food at Saltlik—it was a big hit! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to host a private event.

My husband and I went here since it was recommended to us by a friend so we had pretty high expectations. Glad to say that our experience was amazing here. Our server, Michaela (Mikayla?) was great to us the whole night. We requested a seat change and she gladly accommodated. She was friendly and quick the whole night. Glad we got her haha We ordered the bone-in ribeye and grilled blackened salmon. My husband said (and I agree) that the ribeye was cooked to perfection and was delicious. Probably the best we've ever had at a restaurant. The salmon, however wasn't as great. The salmon itself was quite bland by the vegetables and sauce made up for it. We ordered a few drinks too and the wood smoked old fashioned was delicious. Overall, great experience. Would definitely come back again and this time will order the steaks.

Had an amazing dinner to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriend. To start everything, we’ve ordered the wok fried calamari which was so good and it woke up our taste buds for sure. The steak I’ve ordered is seasoned well and cooked to a perfect medium just like I wanted. My girlfriend loved the braised beef ribs. Our server, Kaitie was amazing. Made us feel comfortable and on a relaxed pace. The drinks were okay. I had the phoenix and their signature drink (I forgot the name; the one on the picture). They also gave me a complimentary drink and they’ve customized the chocolate molten lava to highlight my birthday which tasted great too to finish everything off. Amazing first time experience and will definitely be back.

Great steakhouse with cute vibes and great food Had the filet with the Calamari for starters and have to say, one of the best Calamari that I have ever had. It was crispy but not without texture and well seasoned. The steak was also perfectly cooked. Also tried their cheesecake and it was good but nothing special. Overall a great experience if you are in the area and crave some Calamari or good steak.

Great place! We had a wonderful time. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. And the lambs and brussel sprouts were fantastic. Steak was cooked exactly how we asked for. Above all, the service and experience were amazing. Our server Scott and his assistant Mark were absolute Gem. From the moment we sat down, Scott took good care of us and was extremely knowledgeable about the steak cuts and wine selections. Scott and Mark and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The restaurant itself is high class and the food was outstanding. The steak was cooked to perfection and the dessert was truly amazing. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll even ask for Scott again! Thank you for Mark, Scott and the team for a wonderful experience …..

I CANT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS PLACE.. first of all when we step into the restaurant, a nice lady in the front will guide us. since we had an appointment, it was a fast process. she hung our coats in the closet, and gave us a number so we can exchange it with our coat at the end. when we went into the dining area, it looked so clean and neat. the utensils on the table, the napkins, and the plates, they were very symmetrical. she brought us to a table for 2. the view from our sit was IMMACULATE. i am really sensitive about where i sit, as i love taking pictures, but when our table was right infront of the view, i was already in love. she then placed an anniversary card as it was our 2 years!! and she sprinkled stars on top which was so cute. our server name was a “HANI”, he was very kind and he explained few of the popular menu to us. the food was great, i found them too salty though, which was unfortunate, however the presentation of the foods were chefs kiss 🤌🏼. they told us that if we order main dish, we need to order a side dish as well. so as you can see in the picture, i ordered the chipotle potato wedges and he ordered sweet potato. overall the experience was great. it wasn’t too loud nor too quiet, the server kept coming to us to make sure we were doing alright. just hope that the foods weren’t salty, and they are bit too pricy as well, but it’s understandable.

I had my birthday dinner on Thursday night and It was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Food is amazing, the decoration is elegant and the service is absolutely outstanding. Every single employee we met there was super friendly and professional. The moment we arrived at reception desk I have been recognized and greeted Happy Birthday with warm welcoming. After we sat down the server brought me a birthday card signed with whole team. She even scattered some cute spangles on our table. How sweet is that! Our servers including the young lady who brought the steak to us and demonstrated the hot buttery plates were super friendly and welcoming. The dessert was served with a lighted birthday candle with Happy birthday writing on the plate. We will definitely come back to this restaurant again and definitely recommend friends and family to this restaurant for the excellent service and the fantastic food as well as the beautiful environment.

Amazing Steak 3 Course Prime Time Dinner for $79pp at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Calgary Alberta. Steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare in their 1800 degree broiler and then served in 500 degree plates with butter. Service was amazing 👏. I upgraded one of the meals to a 12oz Rib-Eye for $29 and added a house wine for $12. Sides & toppers were included as well. @ruthschrisyyc @thefoodiecarguy

This will always be my number one go-to restaurant whenever I’m in Calgary for three reasons: 1. Unmatched Quality – My steak (pictured) was perfectly cooked and topped Oscar style — with buttery crab meat and velvety béarnaise sauce that elevated an already incredible cut of meat to the next level. Every bite was pure perfection. 2. Exceptional Service – The staff treat you like family while maintaining a level of professionalism you don’t often find. They anticipate your needs before you even ask and make you feel welcome from start to finish. 3. The Atmosphere – Elegant yet comfortable. Whether it’s a special celebration or just a night out, the ambiance makes the evening truly memorable. Ruth’s Chris is simply unbeatable for the perfect steak experience in Calgary

Last night we tried the Cgy Tower location as my sister had not tried Ruth's Chris previously. We started with Calamari which came buried in sweet sauce vs on the side. The Calamari was like chewing on a piece of rubber! The appetizer was moved to the edge of the table where it sat for 10 mins. The server returned but did not ask how the Calamari was. Eventually is was returned. Next we tried the Ahi Tuna which was ok but served cold from the fridge. I have never been served cold Ahi. It was ok but would have been better warm. For the mains the Sable fish and 12 oz Ribeye were decent. The Ribeye was under seasoned. The baked potato was an adventure as we ordered half with cheese and half without. Both halves came with cheese. The server was surprised that I still expected my half without cheese. Any other time I have eaten at Ruth's Chris the food was excellent. The food at Cgy Tower was avg at best and not worth the $250 price paid. At no time through the meal were we asked how the food was, shocking!

Known for its succulent steaks, seafood dishes, and comprehensive wine list, it's a staple for business diners looking for an understated yet elegant setting.
We came here for our 4th anniversary dinner and ended up asking to move from the patio to an indoor dining spot. They quickly accommodated us and we had Dustin as our server. Dustin was so great - checked in on us frequently, was super friendly and knowledgeable on the menu with good recommendations and also treated us with the Billy miner pie for dessert! Our meals were delicious and always so consistent with our satisfaction levels. The Keg is our favorite and this will be our first location choice!

Service was great and the atmosphere was fantastic for a group of friends. I ordered the French Onion soup, escargot, peppercorn NY strip medium rare, and split a chocolate cake and Billy Miner pie. The only miss to me was the chocolate cake. It was a little too dense in texture for my tastes. The exterior l escargots was delicious but I'm used to them in shell. I was surprised that the texture was still supple. The steak was cooked to temp and delicious! Really enjoyed this place and find it a great place to celebrate with friends. Look forward to returning.

Went on a Tuesday evening during the Calgary Stampede for dinner. I phoned first to make reservations and was given options for seating. I mentioned I wanted a quieter part of the restaurant and that we were a party of 6. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed and loud. And the hostess led us to our seats, we were very pleasantly surprised that they had available and given us a semi private half moon booth! Mo was our server for the evening and he did a great job with taking care of our dining needs. What a great experience for me as I hadn't eaten in a Keg restaurant in over 10 years. Had to order the prime rib and though some parts were a bit chewy, overall, I enjoyed the experience!

Great experience overall! I came here with a friend and we had a great time. I ordered the baseball steak, and she had the filet mignon—both were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. On the side, we shared iceberg lettuce and a classic Caesar salad, which were fresh and well-balanced. Drinks were on point too: I had an IPA and she went with a gin & tonic. Service was excellent—friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The location is amazing as well, definitely adds to the vibe. Would absolutely come back!

Wellingtons of Calgary, established in 1979, is a revered steakhouse that aims to provide an elegant and traditional dining experience. Known for its classic menu featuring beef Wellington and table-side Caesar salad, the restaurant also offers delectable options like steak Diane and a variety of seafood dishes. The interior exudes a timeless charm that complements the authentic steakhouse ambiance.
This steakhouse was recommended by a colleague. She said it was one of the best if not the best in Calgary. She wasn't wrong. The ambiance is exceptional. The dining room is an average size with a few wonderful bay windows. Our server explained the food and answered our questions. She could not have been better. I started with a shrimp cocktail and the cocktail sauce was out of this world. Spicy yet not too so, and obviously made in house. My Steak Diane was very tender and roasted potatoes were perfection. I had a caramel dessert and unfortunately the name escapes me. A custard with caramel sauce. My daughter has the prime rib that she said was one of the best she's had. Incredibly tender and flavourful. We will definitely be back. The staff here are amazing and the overall experience excellent. Thanks for a wonderful long weekend dinner.

Top tier service - From every staff member in the entire building. Everyone is extremely friendly and professional. Beautiful place. Great steak. Mushrooms were delicious. Calamari was a bit chewy - I would personally just ask for it to be extra extra crispy next time. The sauce that went with it, we both loved. Very fresh. Not dense and heavy. I love that they offer a table side Caesar, and bring you the toppings at the table for your potato. The bread and butter is always great! Would love if the bread was a bit warm so the butter could spread a bit easier or melt even just a bit. I’ve come here dressed up in designer and also in gym sweats and a hoodie. I was treated the exact same. Classy place. Love it. I will be back!

Dined at Wellingtons for the first time Friday night, and my expectations were exceeded. The dining room was quite busy and to my surprise it wasn't all boomers 👵🧓 lol. Seriously though, we ordered the Peppercorn NY strip, Wellington (not pictured 🥴), Calamari and French Onion Soup. The steaks were cooked to a PERFECT medium and were fantastic. The onion soup.and Calamari were pretty standard, but fresh and tasty enough. Service was on point but they made me take off my peaky blinders style chapeau. Of course I obliged, but really lol?!

This review is for the lounge, not the dining room. We learned of Wellingtons from a Facebook foodie group. A few of the members recommended this eatery when others have asked for steakhouse recommendations. We chose to dine at the lounge not the dining room because we make pretty decent steak at home and because we liked the options on the lounge menu. It turns out you can order from the dining room menu anyway when you’re in the lounge. Our server was fantastic; she had a great attitude and was prompt and attentive. Unfortunately, the food was not as great as the service. The food was mediocre, and even disappointing for one of the appetizers. We ordered a large Caesar salad, beef carpaccio and escargot to start. For our mains we ordered the beef liver and onions and sole meunière. Relative to other steakhouses in the city, this is certainly one of least impressive restaurants. The salad was very average and doable at home. The escargot was worse than the canned ones, and the frozen ones in the shell are better. To top it off, my partner and I both got a stomach ache from the food and had to rush to the bathroom when we got home.

If you’re looking for a place that exudes romance, this restaurant is an absolute gem. My husband and I have been coming here for date nights, and it never disappoints. The ambiance is intimate and cozy, with low lighting that sets the perfect mood for a special evening. The food is nothing short of exceptional—every dish is crafted with care and bursting with flavor. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but the quality and experience are worth every penny. The service is attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall charm of the place. Whether it’s a milestone celebration or just a quiet night to reconnect, this spot has become our go-to for memorable dinners. Highly recommend it for anyone seeking an elegant and romantic dining experience!

My family and I had a great experience at this location. The food was great but since we dine out a lot some other places have really set the bar high for us. But overall still good. We had shrimp(app), lobster mac and cheese, 7 oz steak, prime rib, a burger, and chicken and fries (kids). Would still recommend this location as an option to family and friends. They also have children's menu when you ask. The service was great and clean. If you wanted to bring a stroller in, there would be enough space to bring your little one. They also have a change table in the washroom.

Just stopping in Calgary during a road trip, and this was definitely the place to go! My mother, father and I came here craving steak today, and this restaurant certainly delivered. The service was excellent. I’m pretty sure this is some of the best service ive ever received at a restaurant. Our server was not only proffesional, kind, and friendly, but really walked us through the menu with ease. Thank you so much. While my mom and I both had the NY striploin, my dad had the Ribeye and all of our meals were delicious. Steak perfectly cooked, extremely tender, and the sides were even really good. 100% recommend this place especially if your just stopping in Calgary!

My husband and I are visiting my son and his girlfriend and my son said that he had heard good things about your restaurant so we thought we’d try it out. So glad we did!!! The ambiance in the restaurant is so inviting and cozy. The food was incredible, I especially enjoyed the Brie appetizer so yummy. All of the steaks that were ordered from our table were cooked perfectly ranging from blue rare to well done. The drinks that I enjoyed were perfectly made. But really put the cherry on top was the staff. The manger checked with us a few times very friendly but our server Lauren she was amazing. So very friendly and she really took care of us with checking in with us. She helped me out when I talked to her on the side and said that I wanted to pay the bill and I knew my son would fight me on this so she helped me by suggesting that when she would come to the table and ask if anyone wanted any dessert that would be my clue to then meet her at the front to scoop up the bill and pay without my son knowing, it worked perfectly! Thank you to the amazing staff for making our night out so special. Next time we’re in town we will definitely come back. ☺️

I was a bit disappointed on the food quality. They were all just mediocre. We received our appetizers within a reasonable time after ordering. After the appetizers, we waited for an extremely long time for our meal. The waitress and such all came and apologized. They gave us some fries to munch on while we waited. They said they were behind because there were a big crowd that they were serving. Anyway, the main courses were so so only honestly.

My husband and I received a gift card to Charcut last Christmas and decided to use it for our anniversary. It was a special treat; food was delicious, drinks and service were great as well.
Susie G — Google review
Croquettes were dry instead of juicy and soft, the truffle sauce was a necessity to add some moisture to them. Stuffed ravioli was good but too much oil for "sauce". Lastly I would expect a better steak for the price. In sum, food was a disappointment, drinks and service were good.

Best lunch deal you will find in under 30min. $20 gets you a top notch sandwich, fries and soup. This is how all fine restaurants should be doing their business lunches.

Had breakfast and dinner here as part of my stay in the Le Germain hotel. Kind of wish they opened a little earlier for breakfast but that’s not a big deal. Great food, the staff is friendly and informative and their happy hour is pretty good. And considering the location and ambience, it’s decently priced.

CattleBaron Steakhouse NE - Airport is a popular spot known for its consistent service and great value. The steak dishes come with various side options, and the steaks are always cooked to perfection. The restaurant offers a warm and welcoming ambiance in both the lounge and dining room areas. While some customers have experienced minor issues with meat quality, the attentive staff, beautiful aesthetics, and delicious food make it a place worth visiting again.
I had a fantastic experience here tonight. I ordered a perfect dirty martini with the blue cheese olives (you HAVE to get the olives if you love blue cheese, SO funky and good). As an appetizer I got the oysters, and their hot sauce is unique and tasty in combination with the mignonette. For my main I got the Steak Oscar (rare) and it was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth like butter. Every bite was heavenly. The twice baked potato was perfect too. Of course, I recommend you order red wine with the steak because it just makes sense. I personally had a glass of the Black Sage Cabernet Sauvignon. For dessert I treated myself to the Baron's Coffee which was a perfect lift of coffee and dessert with its Irish Cream all in one. Everything I ordered came out in excellently-spaced timing, the atmosphere was awesome, and I couldn't have had a better evening out on a Friday. Kristina was the best server and never left me wanting for anything. Great experience!

Recommended by a friend. Filet Mignon was best ever. Chicken Alfredo was excellent. Service was amazing. Calamari was a little rubbery and they added lemon juice; we use no lemon. Escargot were excellent. Prime Rib was sub par. Mushrooms had a different taste.

Cattle Baron is my go-to steakhouse for a nice dinner. Their 14 oz ribeye steak ($61) and French onion soup ($13) are probably my favorite in all of Calgary! The 14 oz prime rib ($50) is pretty good as well, except they never seem to give enough au jus and it costs extra if you want more. I always get their loaded twice-baked potato as my side, because it's buttery, smooth, and really delicious. I definitely recommend giving this joint a try!

Very busy restaurant. Came here cause we were staying at a hotel within walking distance. Was kinda a Keg vibe. I had Mediterranean chicken. It was over cooked. Was suppose to have a dill sauce and tasted nothing like dill. Just a white sauce that lacked flavour. Rice seemed like it came out of a bag. Veggies good. Hubby had the baby back ribs with twice baked potato with all the toppings. He was happy. Wine was expensive. Had a lounge and restaurant side. I’m sure the steaks may of been great. But probably wouldn’t go back.

Its atmosphere is so nice because I can feel something local as a foreigner. I visited here twice, on Tuesday and Thursday with my friend. Their menu between lunch and dinner is a kind of different. If you want to eat steak, I recommend it at dinner. Also, the staff are so professional, so you can receive a recommendation from them if you want😊.

We were in Calgary for an event and ended up having a few out of town friends also in Calgary and it was my wife’s Birthday. Short notice for supper plans but we ended up agreeing on this place for a party of 8. The service was genuine and top notch. Our lovely server Evelyn was a rock star and made our special evening a success. The food was great - linguine, the CB burger, top sirloin and prime rib rounded out our tables orders and everyone of us loved our meals. Prices were very fair compared to what we pay in BC. Great atmosphere - Evelyn our rockstar server joined in for a round of Happy Birthday singing. Overall loved our supper there and will be back.

Nice little steakhouse that is affordable for a finer dining experience in Calgary. I had the prime rib and it was good, temperature was a little cool but still tasty. Service was quick and efficient.

Brazilian restaurant
Minas Brazilian Steakhouse is a traditional Brazilian restaurant known for its tableside carved meats and classic sides. The cuisine is meat-forward, offering plentiful portions of Churrasco-style meats alongside tasty dishes like farofa, fried plantains, and black bean stew. Located in Eau Claire Market, the restaurant brings the flavors of Southeast Brazil to Calgary with its flavorful local vegetable dishes and rodizio-style service.
Had their lunch rodizio. Really good meats, every piece served was seasoned well and they were always offering to carve more if you wanted more pieces. They also took requests if you preferred certain cuts. The top sirloin was really good and so was the lamb that they had. They had both a spicy and non-spicy sausage. Service was friendly and they were quick at refilling drinks. At the time of writing this review, they have a promotion where weekday lunches are at $35 per person. For the rodizio meats available at lunch which included lamb, this is currently an excellent value for a lunch rodizio that you really can't get anymore unless if you time travelled back to at least five years ago.

I went to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Highly recommended. I loved the flavor of everything we ate, all the meats had a unique taste. The Parmesan beef was delicious. I'll definitely be back. I was surprised they didn't surprise me with a dessert for my anniversary, but everything else was good.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. Price is actually cheap for the quality of meats and service (we're so full it's hard to walk!). They even prepared such a well decorated dessert as a birthday treat, thank you for making your customer's day extra special! Yummy food. Friendly atmosphere. Staffs who love their job. 1000/10 ⭐️⭐️

All around 5 star experience here!! The service was absolutely spectacular and the food mouthwatering! For anyone who says Brazilian food is dry and tasteless, eat your words or better yet dare to eat everything they serve here. Thank you Minas for an unforgettable dining experience!

The food here is always amazing and full of flavor! I usually come in for the buffet, but this time my friend and I stopped by for drinks (which never disappoint) and tried their à la carte menu. We ordered the small meat platter, and it was absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere, tasty food, and excellent drinks,I’ll definitely be coming back again!
CyCy G — Google review
Was on my bucket list for so long and I finally went. Very friendly and helpful staff. The meats though… I found each and every cut to be too salty! I thought other reviewers mentioning this saltiness were exaggerating but it turns out they weren’t! I also think the meats were seriously lacking in variety. The Pão de queijo did not move me at all; I typically always eat so much of it but I struggled to finish these ones. Would not have taken that much if I had known. Their salad bar was more limited than say Pampa or Bolero but their buffet food variety was good. All in all, I honestly don’t think I’ll be returning. Not because I had a horrible experience but because to me it doesn’t live up to the hype it gets. Thank you to the wonderful staff who offered to move us to a corner table which was more suitable for a family with a small baby in a stroller.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner here with a group of ten. Carolina and her staff were very eager to make it a memorable evening and it was. The food and service were great as always and the birthday passion fruit mousse presentation was a lovely surprise. Thank you for such a great celebration!!

My first time at Minas and I preferred it to the other Brazillian steakhouses in Calgary. The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The serving sizes were fantastic for the price! My sister and I ordered a platter for 2 and the platter was way more than enough for us, the meats were cooked to perfection and the fried cassava was delectable! 😍it was well worth it and I told the waitress that I wish I had a second stomach to fit it all! They have the best limonada brasileira I've had in a very long time! Everything was delicious, the right balance of sweetness, rich and creamy not watered down! They even gave me a special slice of tres leches cake for my birthday! I felt super special 😃! And I can't wait to return with my family to try the buffet next time 💕 Great Job Minas! My best compliments to the chefs and servers, wonderful place, great service! Highly recommend, I will definitely return again!

Nestled in Calgary, Big Fish & Open Range is a renowned culinary destination that seamlessly blends the rugged charm of a steakhouse with the fresh appeal of a seafood eatery. Established as Open Range in 2004 and later rebranded as Big Fish in 2005, this establishment has evolved into a versatile dining spot offering locally sourced game meats and seafood. The restaurant's warm and rustic ambiance complements its menu, which features innovative flavors that marry traditional and contemporary cooking techniques.
Went here to try their Oysters, non the less was amazing. Loved their sauces. I ordered 16 just for myself. ;) the atmosphere was quiet and cozy, but probably cause I was sitting in a corner near the window i got pretty cold. The pecan pie was good, but would be amazing if it was served warm on a warm plate. There was more pecan than filling so worth the price. Whipped cream on top taste like from the can, so it sort of dripped even in a cold environment but still yummy. Would come here again!

This morning we booked a reservation and the waiter knew as soon as we came in that it's us even though it was our first time. Not only did they serve us with amazing good in a timely manner they are kind with their customer service. We ordered the scallop appi along with the cream of broccoli, salmon burger and some dessert. Everything was to our satisfaction but the dessert due to the fact it was half size was a bit disappointing. It was so good we wanted the full portion.

Great seafood restaurant with excellent service. Loved the bison short ribs and especially the roasted potatoes. Other mains that we tried included the cod, walleye and salmon risotto. Everytime was good and the ingredients were fresh. They also gave a decent amount of fish with every main dish.

Great seafood, local, low key and great service. The venue is clean with plenty of indoor and patio seating is available. They've got a great menu selection both seafood and meat. We ordered an array of dishes, beef ribeye steak 16oz, east coast raw bar oysters, prime rib with yorkshire pudding. Overall the food was flavorful and worth the experience!

Had an absolutely wonderful meal experience here. Ordered 3 appetizers, seafood chowder, steak bites and the scallops on top of the seafood pot au feu. Everything was excellent, well flavoured with the right amount of bread to dip in the sauces. Service was prompt with many smiles, so that added to the evening. Would definitely recommend and will return to try the open range side.

Steak house
Bar
Buchanan's Chop House, located in Calgary, Alberta, is a well-established steakhouse known for its expertise in serving quality Alberta beef. Since 1988, this classic chophouse has been offering a wide selection of steaks, burgers, seafood, and pasta dishes paired with an extensive wine list and one of the largest whisky selections in North America. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh ingredients to create delicious meals from scratch.
So this was our first visit to Buchanan's and I must say we really enjoyed the evening. Sean was our waiter and from the start he was very informative about the history of the restaurant. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and advised us well when we asked questions. We had the Scallops as an appetizer which arrived wrapped in Bacon in a mango carrot puree and were excellent. The only issue I had was there were only 4 scallops and for the price I thought 6 would be more appropriate, but who am I to judge. My partner had the seafood pasta which had a good quantity of seafood and home made pasta which was a definite bonus. I had the Delmonico, with the mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables which were excellent as well. The steak was a nice thick cut that was very good, but did not have the crust that would have made it excellent, but it was still delicious. The wine that Sean recommended was excellent as well, and he took the time to put it in a decanter well before the meal arrived which made it that much better. All in all we enjoyed the food, the staff and the place itself and will definitely be going back.
Charles L — Google review
Decent spot quality food was over cooked when I asked for a medium rare burger. Manager comped the burger as it was perfect. Tasted pretty alright otherwise. Fries were perfect. Served with a coleslaw that was more acidic than the mayo versions which I despise.
Monir M — Google review
I used to live in the area and Buchanan's was my partner and my go-to place for drinks and appies. Their fries are our favourite in the city. Wasabi shrimp are outstanding. Their happy hour burgers should be a secret and I feel guilty ordering such a delicious burger at the happy hour price. The staff are always great. Excellent, friendly service is the norm there.

We came on a Friday night and there was an extremely rude waiter. Since minute one, his behavior was bad and rude. He threw the to-go boxes to the table when we asked for them and was walking around saying rude words out loud every time he passed close to our table. It was the worst service ever. It's a shame because we've been here several times before because we enjoy the food but with this person I guess it'd be the last time we come. He should be fired immediately. Shame on him! Worst service attitude I ever have. Attached you can see a pic of him for your references.

Sorely disappointed in my Steak/Frites meal!!! My steak had a huge “gob” of fat which was a third of the whole cut-fries, veggies and baguette were excellent. For $39 I expected something much better given your rep for excellent steaks.

What a pleasant surprise... I was passing through Calgary and stopped there for lunch yesterday . My server helped me make some wonderful choices...was very familiar with all aspects of the menu...professional and accommodating. That great Alberta beef was a delight....done to perfection....well presented....and just enough....well maybe a little more than enough as I needed to go for a walk after...Great western hospitality. With thanks....we will return.

Major Tom Bar is a stylish rooftop destination located on the 40th floor above Calgary's Stephen Avenue, offering sweeping city views. The bar serves craft cocktails and global fare, with classic dishes given a contemporary twist. The wine selection includes chilled reds and abundant organic options. Known for its exclusive ambiance, delicious cocktails, and amazing food, Major Tom offers revived salad options like the Waldorf salad alongside fresh classics such as Caesar, Citrus, and Golden Beet salads.
I’m visiting from the United States, and dining at Major Tom Restaurant has been one of the highlights of my trip to Calgary. This is truly one of the best steaks I’ve ever had — and that’s saying something! We ordered two salads, the gnocchi (which was rich and flavorful), a large porterhouse steak that was perfectly cooked, plus a few sides and desserts. Every single dish was outstanding. The quality, presentation, and flavors were top-notch. To top it all off, the restaurant has a stunning view of the city, which made the experience even more memorable. The service was excellent, and the overall vibe was refined yet welcoming. I will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Calgary. If you’re looking for an incredible steakhouse experience, this place is a must-visit.

Overall, great atmosphere albeit pretty loud ambience. The good was simple but elevated experience, my favourite was their endive salad. The chicken was good, crispy, tender but also over salted. Burger had a nice brisket with over-seasoned fries. We had a good experience overall, and the prices are very reasonable given the location and view and overall food quality and portions. Would definitely return!

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. The décor, lighting, and energy of the place instantly set the mood for a fun night out. The food was absolutely outstanding — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell that a lot of care goes into both the cooking and the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always smiling, which made the whole experience even better. Shoutout Bill our server was amazing great drink recommendation and food recommendation. I left with a full stomach, a big smile, and memories of a fantastic night. I can’t wait to come back again

We had a three course meal and some shareables, as well as drinks. Both were on point. My wife had the cesar salad, duck breast and a dairy free desert. I had the beef tartare, icelandic cod and an afagatto. We shared the glazed pork belly and some truffle fries. It was probably the best meal we’ve had in years. Food, drink and service were flawless. I wish we could remember our waitresses name because she was amazing!

Fantastic drop in experience that surpassed all expectations. The food was delicious and filling. With the duck being a particular highlight. Rich, full of flavour without stripping the actual flavour of duck out and being tender while not void of texture. The entrees were delightfully flavourful and service was prompt, polite and attentive. We opted for a quick power lunch of two entrees and a main and left far more filled than we could have expected. I only had the peach old fashioned but if that was anything to go by I think any cocktail there is a good bet. The atmosphere was clean, cosy and luxurious. With decor within being art deco/ mid century and put together with such great attention to detail that you had as much a view inside as you did looking out the window. And goodness is the view from the window something to behold. No camera of mine would do it justice but seeing the Calgary skyline and mountains in the distance was spectacular for still being in the downtown area. Highly recommend the experience and if you get the stroke of luck I had. Seeing two peregrine falcons fly towards us and perch outside the window momentarily was an external factor but one that made it all the more memorable.
Phillips L — Google review
Major Tom is one of the more premium dining experiences available in Calgary. Located in a downtown highrise the views can't be beat; the ambience gives metropolitan vibe and the food and beverage offering reflect that. The service was top tier and our server kept a good check on us even tho they were perpetually busy. We were by for a quick drink and apps and got the tartare and a few other sides, all delicious and innovative. Major Tom is definitely a place to go and be impressive and be impressed. Recommend for first timers to specify when making a reso a window seat in case they can accommodate you. Finally, Fine Dining but make it cool! I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Major Tom Bar delivers a truly elevated dining experience high above the city. The atmosphere is stylish, the views are stunning, but the kitchen truly steals the show. Steak is a masterclass in preparation—perfectly seared, incredibly tender, and bursting with rich, savory flavor. No order is complete without Major Tots—crispy, savory comfort that perfectly complements the richness of the main course. I highly recommend Beet Salad and Charred Sweet Potato and for Pasta lovers Gnocchi and Campanelle must be tried. With impeccable service and top-tier food, Major Tom is a must-visit destination for an unforgettable, high-end culinary experience✨
Yuliia H — Google review
We have been excited to try Major Tom since they opened. Yes, the view is pretty impressive and the open space surprises you as you're in a building. We were told to get appies here over main dishes. Thus, we ordered the Major Tots, Oysters on the Half Shell, Yellowfin Tuna Crudo, Hokkaido Scallop Crudo, and Roasted Scallops. My wife had the Oysters on the Half Shell. She said they were fresh and delicious. The Major Tots were impressive. The potatoe-y goodness with crispy exterior was complimented by a cream swirl. While pricey, the tots were worth it. The Yellowfin Tuna Crudo was a fun dish. The crispy squares paired well with the refreshing citrusy yellowfin tuna. Despite a similar name, the Hokkaido Scallop Crudo was served differently. They were on shells with a light acidic touch. Finally, the Roasted Scallops were perfectly cooked. They need nothing else to elevate them. We finished the meal with a Chocolate Millefeuille. It was not too sweet and well-balanced. It was a good ending to a good meal. We highly recommend the appetizers. It's a great place to stop by and grab a bite.

Smuggler's is a cozy steakhouse that offers delectable prime rib, seafood, and traditional steak dishes. Their comfortable ambiance and inviting outdoor patio seating create a charming dining experience. The salad bar is highly praised for its variety of options. Appetizers like calamari, crab, and mushroom are popular choices. The lamb chops are served warm with decent presentation. The rib eye is mouthwatering and cooked to perfection. Both dishes receive high praise for their superb flavor when cooked medium rare.
Jillian was phenomenal with her food service. We had a wonderful meal followed by taking home a amazing looking dessert. She also.managed to get us some cutlery so that we may eat it on the road. Went for a date night dinner. Overall the atmosphere and food were great. I love the big comfy chairs and the ambiance. I had asked for a rare steak and it was overcooked, other than that the food was great. Unfortuantly they did seem understaffed but our server was amazing. Smuggler's Inn was recommended to us by a friend when we visited Calgary and it did not disappoint! Their Sunday Roast special was delicious, with their soup and salad bar. We went early without reservations but the restaurant quickly filled up. The highlight was our server, Marvin. He was extremely attentive even though he had multiple tables to take care of. It was my 12 year old son's birthday week and Marvin brought him a dessert with a nice sparkly candle and he loved it. Everything was fantastic - food to service to ambiance. I loved that the giant comfy chairs were on wheels!

If you remember SMUGGLERS from 20 years ago, the food in the atmosphere is still pretty much the same… They were noted for their prime rib, which is still outstanding. Their service is five star and the atmosphere and vibe throughout the restaurant makes for a great night out and or a quiet dining date… Either way you won’t be disappointed.. today I had brunch. The selection was outstanding. The food was fresh and the prime rib was delicious.

We are already looking forward to the next time we come back to Smugglers!

This was my first time there for Sunday brunch. I had no idea that they even had a Sunday brunch I always just went there for their Steakhouse which has always been outstanding. I found out about the Sunday brunch by social media. So I decided to take my girls there and have a good Sunday brunch. They were thrilled to see how fancy everything was. This is a popular brunch spot so I would definitely recommend to make reservations. We were lucky when we walked in and there was room available in one of back rooms and in my opinion in the girls they felt that that was the best part of the restaurant they loved having that place to themselves back there. Love the big fancy red chairs they said 🤩 The management is on point the staff is very friendly. Food was excellent and they kept it well stocked. And if you're a fan of the meat carving station I'll tell you this.. I thought it was a little undercooked however it was cooked the way that it's supposed to be. I didn't know it but I could have asked them to bring it to the kitchen and they could have possibly cooked it a little more to my liking. Also the orange juice seemed a bit off or sour .. Maybe I'm just getting fussy in my old age I don't know. But five star is just the same. Great place to bring the kids they offer fantastic prices and discounts for children and if I'm not mistaken kids under four or five eat free.

Despite being born and raised here, this was my first visit, and I immediately understood why this local institution—in business since 1979—is so beloved. The legacy is evident in every detail, from the warm, classic 1970s décor to the incredible family hospitality. I chose the Beef Dip, and it was the perfect introduction to Nick's dedication to hearty, scratch-made comfort food. The beef was tender, the jus flavorful, and the sandwich itself hit every mark for quality, old-school flavour. The portion sizes are generous, ensuring you get classic value. What sets Nick's apart is its deep, genuine connection to the community. You can feel the history, especially its ties to the Calgary Stampeders and McMahon Stadium right across the street. The atmosphere before a home game is electric, and knowing this is where the Stampeders have been sharing pre-game meals for decades just adds to the iconic status. This is a true, three-generation family-run business, founded by the late, great Nick Petros. His journey from Greek immigrant to Calgary entrepreneur is inspirational, and the current owners, Mark and Michelle Petros, maintain that tradition of warmth and dedication. Nick's isn't just about feeding customers; they treat you like family. If you are looking for a taste of authentic Calgary—the kind of place with award-winning food, decades of tradition, and a heart for its community—you absolutely must visit Nick’s. Highly recommended for family dinners, game day eats, or just a truly satisfying sandwich and fries experience. I can’t wait to go back and try the famous pizza or a classic Alberta steak! Also no photos, because I absolutely scarfed down the food before making the realization. Gotta come back and redeem myself next time!

The advise I got when coming here was "have the steak, and don't bother with the pasta or pizza" and man was that on the money. This place has some of the best steak I have ever had with generous helpings of veggies and mashed potatoes. You will not leave hungry. The service was also ultra quick and quality. The interior is a fun quirky almost 70s esc vibe that honestly is just perfect with the steak dinner.

Charbar is a sophisticated dining spot in Calgary, located in the historic Simmons Building alongside other culinary hotspots and a rooftop patio with stunning views of the Bow River. The restaurant's identity is inspired by its Argentine wood-fired grill, offering seafood and wood-fired steaks paired with craft cocktails created by their Bar Manager. Additionally, Charbar serves as a unique wedding venue, blending modern industrial chic with panoramic river views and culinary excellence within the beautifully renovated 100-year-old former mattress factory.
I’d give 10 stars if that’s an option. Celebrated my mom’s birthday here, didn’t expect too much but arrived finding out there’s a cute balloon attached to our seat. Every single one of the staff here was amazing, they greeted us with smile and wished happy birthday to my mom. Our server was super attentive, absolutely exceptional!! Food matched my expectations, I’ve heard great things about here, and they were worth the praises! Beef fat fries were sooo crispy and it’s very obvious to that they were actually made with beef fat. Ceviche was great, loved the puffed wild rice in there, they added some crunchy texture to it and leveled it up. And the porterhouse was just beyond description, so delicious and tender, pairs well with Argentina Malbec.

Charbar was amazing! The service was excellent. Our waitress was super attentive and somehow managed to top up my drink before I even noticed it was getting low. The food came out in a reasonable time, and the steaks were cooked perfectly. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned. It also came with a great selection of sauces that really elevated the meal. The restaurant itself has a modern and stylish vibe that made the whole experience even better. We had a great dinner and will definitely be coming back.

The lunch options are various. We tried the steak chimichurri; it was excellent. We will be back to try the other items in the next few days. Update: the other options were fine but not as good as the steak. The patio is always fun

We just checked in at our hotel across the street and after a trip of almost 21 hours we wanted to a quick meal before we went to bed. We ended up in the charbar. On the inside it was well decorated and a lot of seating space. We tried the burger and the chevice mix, both were very good. We had a really nice waiter.

The whole crew was terrific service. Hosting station to servers(Natasha) and kitchen staff. Took care of allergies, wonderful suggestions and knowledge of menu, including wines was great. Charred Napa Cabbage salad, Tableside Ceviche Mixto(Jessica made it thx), Beef Butcher Steak & New York Strip. Chimichurri sauce fantastic. We were watching many other tables and it seemed like full enjoyment from them too. Give this place a try. I think you'll come back again and again.

Trying Charbar after 6 years, we were pleased to taste the same delicious food, vibrant and great service. We stopped at Nash, but witnessed a poor welcome, saying sorry done with lunch menu (while minutes left, and not busy at all)…and while we had the plan for Charbar for later, just changed plans and showed up. They welcomed us, with a good table at a nice spot…

4.4 ⭐️ Great little spot tucked away in the old Simmons Factory in East Village, steps off the river path/ Bow River. This place did not disappoint. We visited them for a friends birthday and ordered Broccoli and Cauliflower dish which was amazing. The burger was spectacular (cheese curds on a burger!?!! 💯), fries- meh skip out on these next time. We also enjoyed the Beef Empanadas which are the best empanadas that we’ve experienced in Calgary, to date.

Loved relaxing on the patio for a moments time mid afternoon was so peaceful and relaxing. The lunch menu was still available so I went for the 6oz NY strip. I have to say I was kind of disheartened by it. But was so hungry ate it quite quickly.. and this was immediately as I received it and was cool/cold. I see all these beautiful char grilled photos of steaks. Med rare. And I order that and mine was like boiled or steamed tasting/texture is how id describe it. Even if it was grilled. Just looked a bit slimy. Not BBQ char grilled in any facet unfortunately. Service was nice, the girls were great. Enjoyed the happy hour drinks. Thank you for offering a Pinot Noir option. Truly appreciated. Fries were amazing! Calamari was beyond small for $20. And only personal preference not sure if many would agree. But there was so much aoli in the dish? I did switch out the salsa for another sauce choice. But didn't realize it would be on a thick bed of aoli. I personally dont like a ton of sauces. As i enjoy calamari. So it was a bit much for me. Maybe in a bottle and drizzled into the dish?? or knowing now id just ask for both on the side. Overall still nice just could have been a smidgen better with the steak since that's their main focus and reputation. Hopefully I'll get back there and get to enjoy the real deal that I see in photos of other reviews! Still recommend though as clearly mine seems like an off day.

Model Milk is a rustic-chic restaurant housed in a converted dairy, offering creative and locally sourced Canadian cuisine. The venue reflects the founders' passion for creating a unique dining experience, focusing on what they love about restaurants. The chefs prioritize high-quality local ingredients, preparing them simply to highlight their authentic flavors and textures.
Amazing service, atmosphere, and of course food! The stories you've heard about the fried chicken are true: it's delicious! And if you get the shared platter, be prepared to to bring some home. Our servers were attentive made sure that we always had clean dishes and full glasses, and made us feel right at home. I also loved that they had a diverse selection of non-alcoholic beverage: beers, cocktails and even a wine. My only regret is not having enough room to try more food. I'll definitely be back for the octopus.
Thomas L — Google review
After all these years, this is still one of my favourite restaurants in Calgary! Food: oh man, where to start. Basically, you can’t go wrong. For a table of 4, we tried the shrimp toastie, calamari, beef tartare, and… something else yummy (don’t recall what it’s called). And while they are all a hit, we enjoyed the calamari the most. The burger is always solid, but my friends enjoyed the halibut, flat iron steak and the chicken. Model milk does a great job making classics their own and memorable, while also doing the simple things well. Apple pie was a great way to finish such an awesome meal. Service: attentive, friendly, but still elevated enough to make customers feel special and that they are enjoying their time out. Our server however did make an error on our bill. Atmosphere: I love the vibe of model milk, industrial, elevated but not fussy. Great for any night out. Value: for the taste, quality and quantity I think it’s great value. Will be coming back time and time again, and on my highly recommended list! Make sure you make a reservation in advance.

Model milk has great food, ambience, and service. It is more laid back and casual for ambience but has stronger emphasis on food. Some items are great, some are just okay. I would recommend the octopus, calamari, or salad. The fried chicken wasn’t bad but it wasn’t exactly special either. Service was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and helped my friend who had a few too many drinks prior to dinner.

This place definitely superseded my expectations. From the moment I walked in the door and was seated with my guest. The attentiveness from every single staff member that approaches your table. Complete full description as they place the plate down. We shared the fry bread, which was overflowing with flavors, the calamari which is not your typical restaurant style this is pan fried to perfection, the hot chicken meal with coleslaw and buttermilk biscuits is to die for, perfect spice for a Nashville hot. Now my favorite part of every meal and the only thing I took pictures of desert. The apple pie with white cheddar in the crust, not to sweet but packed with apples, the chocolate desert was so smooth, rich a complete balance of dark chocolate and strawberry cream. Definitely a returning customer.

READ IF YOUVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT TRYING THIS PLACE *** Model Milk has been on my bucket list for a long time, and I am so glad I finally went. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience. The staff made me feel so well cared for, especially Keenan and Levi, who went above and beyond with their service. My water glass was always full, everyone was attentive without being overbearing, and when I returned from the washroom to find a fresh cloth napkin waiting for me, I truly felt looked after in the most thoughtful way. Dining alone here felt comfortable and special. When I was waiting for my Uber outside after dinner, a staff member even came to check if I wanted water or needed anything, which was just another example of how great and caring the service is. The food was outstanding. The chefs deserve special compliments for the octopus, which was hands down some of the best I’ve ever had, completely on par with the fresh octopus I once enjoyed off the coast of Antalya. The honey butter buns are exactly everything you dream they would be: warm, rich, and addictive. And the espresso martinis? Impossible to have just one, they were that delicious. The atmosphere is vibrant yet welcoming, with a star quality that makes you feel like you’re part of something special the moment you sit down. I can’t say enough good things about Model Milk. If you’ve been thinking about going, don’t wait any longer. Treat yourself. Just do it. Wear the dress. And GO! whether with friends, a partner, or even on your own. This place is absolutely *worth it*

Awesome spot, we were visiting Calgary for a night frpm Vancoucer, and our good friends took us here and wow, very impressed. The food was amazing, ambience is so good and service was excellent all the way through. Did I mention that the food was amazing? That ribeye steak is insane, and everything else we ordered was also really, really good. We will make sure to come visit again the next time we are in town!

This is definitely a new favorite for me. Staff are super friendly, and the food was incredible. I loved everything I ate and can't wait to try more. My personal favorite, though, were the shrimp toasties. AND...the coleslaw that came with the fried chicken! The dressing was so light, smokey, and delicious. I dont know how they did it! They need to release a cookbook! Lol!

Gaucho Brazilian Barbecue in Calgary is an upscale churrascaria that offers a culinary adventure with its all-you-can-eat Brazilian grilled meats. The restaurant provides a stylish and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a festive dining experience. From spicy garlic brisket to beer and herb chicken wings, the tender skewered meats keep coming until you've had your fill. Alongside the delicious churrasco-style meats are traditional sides and a salad bar, making it essential to arrive with a hearty appetite.
Gaucho Brazilian Barbecue – 10th Anniversary Dinner We celebrated our 10th anniversary at Gaucho Brazilian Barbecue, and the experience was exceptional. We had the all-you-can-eat option, and every dish, especially the meats carved right at our table, was flavourful and expertly prepared. The sides were fresh and plentiful, and everything was served at the perfect pace. The service was spot on. The staff were attentive, warm, and professional, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of from start to finish. They really helped make the night special. We understand it was too late for dessert by the time we finished, but a sweet ending would have rounded off the night even more. Still, it was a wonderful experience, and we absolutely plan to return. Thank you, Gaucho, for making our anniversary celebration so memorable.

We came here for the first time to celebrate me and my wife’s birthday and we had an amazing experience. The food was amazing and they even served us the cake that we brought in ourselves and told us upfront of the service charge as they serve it. The servers are very attentive, we never ran out of drinks and they check on us from time to time. we also didn’t wait long for our orders. We ordered their platters and it was a lot of food. We will surely come back to try their all you can eat meat.

Happy to experience the Rodizio! So many meat - and all Good! Our family night turned into an adventure. Service was superb! My daughter commented, “the staff here are so nice!” Will definitely recommend this place!
Evelyn G — Google review
Service was poor from start to finish. 30 minute wait for a simple side dish, a drink order that never arrived, and water glasses that sat empty. The main issue though, was that halfway through the meal, my husband became violently ill right in the restaurant, with vomiting and diarrhea. Clear signs of food poisoning, especially with the timing — illness starting while still at the restaurant. Another man in the bathroom at the same time was also experiencing severe diarrhea, suggesting a possible foodborne illness issue. When I informed the host, they said “no one else was sick,” but clearly, that wasn’t true. We were feeling 100 percent fine before eating here. I don't know if it was undercooked meats, poor food handling, or Cross-contamination between raw and cooked foods that caused this but completely unacceptable and scary 🤢 To make matters worse, when Im in tears, concerned about food poisoning, the staff brushed it off and showed zero concern. Strangely, offering a complimentary desert. (He just spent ten minutes in the bathroom, extremely ill, possibly needing to go to the hospital from the eating here. Why would we eat a desert? 😕 Then, offered to not charge me for a drink that had never arrived? Ridiculous. The manager suggested he go to Alberta health services for treatment for the food poisoning. I was quite frankly shocked about how extremely rude they were about the whole situation. I noticed several red flags while eating — our waitress’s fingers touched the food on the plate, one server dropped a piece of meat on the table and re-served it, and my utensils were placed directly on the bare table without a napkin. These things clearly show a lack of care for food safety and cleanliness. I can only imagine what the kitchen must be like. Unfortunately, this ultimately led to an illness during the meal, which was deeply concerning and ruined the evening. Definitely not worth the risk — the food safety and service standards here fall far short of what’s expected. We’ll never return, and I strongly recommend others think twice before dining here.

I usually frequent Bolero, but being local, we decided to give it a go. The place is HUGE and decorated beautifully. I had the French connection as a cocktail, and it was handdowns my favorite cocktail of all time. So much flavor. All the meat was juicy and cooked to perfection. Our favorite were the chicken hearts. Highly recommend. It's on the pricer side, but the point system is pretty fair. Service was also fantastic. Great group.

Had dinner here with my family and we were blown away with the service, attention to detail and the amazing food. The burger was excellent. Had all the basic elements but they were all very well done. The bun retained its integrity which was key. Fries were ok but the burger did shine. Had calamari and devilled eggs as well. They were kind of how you would expect. Device was quite slow even though the patio wasn’t that busy. I would go again for a business lunch. It’s a pricey option for sure.

Unforgettable experience!! My partner and I had the absolute best dining experience we’ve ever had thanks to John and Krice. From the moment we sat down, their service was warm, attentive, and full of special touches that elevated every course. The kitchen clearly put so much care into each dish — we had the porterhouse steak and can confidently say it was the best steak either of us have ever had. We’re from Toronto, but this meal alone has us planning our next trip back to Calgary. The Guild — and especially John and Krice — made it that memorable. Thank you for an unforgettable night! Great service ! Mains: Tenderloin was perfection. What steak dreams are made of. Crispy edges. Good texture. Pink throughout.extremely tender. Packed full of flavor 10/10 this is a tie for with hys. Ribeye my boyfriend loved his and said it was good. Gnocchi, although listed as a main it was actually perfect for an appetizer for two to share. My boyfriend and I both loved it. And he named it “the best gnocchi” he’s ever had. I liked that there was a variety of mushrooms and they were cooked well into the sauce. However, I did notice right away that the sauce had flour that wasn’t properly cooked/combined or simply just too much. The flour taste was notable right away and there was a gritty texture in your mouth. My partner agreed. Nonetheless, the dish overall was very tasty, it was certainly something we could look past! Maybe a fluke / off day with the sauce. But we will be back for this one again. Porter house - no comment. There was an issue with the meat freshness, when brought to the staffs attention they quickly resolved the issue by bringing us new steaks. We understand mistakes happen. But unfortunately no review here for that reason Drinks: TKO expresso martini - a true dessert drink, perfect for sipping alongside a good meal. Impactful flavor. Tequila isn’t prominent. Material girl - very girly. Very cutesy. Very demure. whiskey ginger + lime - a crowd pleaser. Anyone would love this! The glenlivet 12 year - good find. Nice aroma. Smooth. Sides: Mashed potato’s: the presentation was nice, they were good! Not omg amazing. But good. The beets and walnuts - could have used some kind of coating or sauce of any kind as the walnuts are dry and just fall to the bottom so.. hard to get the walnuts and beet together without on a fork for the flavor combination. Mushrooms - very much just plain mushrooms w some butter/oil. Really nothing special.

Absolutely adore this place! I took my husband here for his birthday a few months ago, and it was such a wonderful experience. The food, service, and atmosphere were simply amazing! I had the beef tenderloin, and I seriously have been thinking about it in my dreams. It is such a beautiful, historical building, making the ambience just impeccable. Reserved a table for lunch and had a remarkable time. The restaurant was courteous and prompt with their staff being very attentive and kind. Leading into wonderful food with a gorgeous view both in and around the wonderfully maintained historically significant building to the area. We chose to be seated inside and the decor and atmosphere was both calm and quiet. Now the food itself was also spectacular with rich flavours without any overbearing saltiness or any greasiness at all. The whole experience was great and the course was actually quite filling on top of it all! This goes for all 4-5 dishes between my wife and I. Took a nice walk to digest the food and enjoy the scenery with a quick trip through the native gardens leading to Annie’s cafe which in itself was a great lead up to a pleasant walk. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to start their morning off in Fish creek with pleasant food and mood. Will be a staple for any future visits to Calgary

We just celebrated our Wedding at Bow Valley Ranche last weekend, and it was everything we dreamed of — a beautiful brunch Wedding on a perfect day! From the very first email, the service was exceptional. Rosa, the Event Coordinator, was incredibly professional, responsive, and supportive throughout the entire planning process. She made everything so smooth leading up to the big day. On the day of the Wedding, the staff went above and beyond. Even with another event happening in one of the other private rooms, the quality of service and food remained outstanding — a true testament to how well this venue is run. Bow Valley Ranche is made to host unforgettable events! Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the food was. The beetroot salad and eggs benny were major crowd-pleasers, and they were happy to accommodate our kids with the kids' menu, no fuss at all. A special thank-you to Jensen, who made sure this Bride felt completely cared for all day long. His attentiveness and kindness truly made a difference. Not many young people work that hard! We couldn’t recommend BVR more highly. It was a magical day that we’ll cherish forever. Thank you for helping create such unforgettable memories!

The ranch is a lovely experience, with a lunch special that isn't too pricey. The daily soup (carrot) was delicious, best I've ever had. I ordered the tomato risotto, which was well done and balanced in all its flavors. Ended the meal with the panacota, light and sweet, but would have loved more. The service was great and very attentive. It was a lovely lunch with a great view, highly recommended.

I brought my son here for his special day! And it's also our first time here. The guy which i forgot to ask his name was very friendly, accommodating and made sure we are doing good. I ordered the mocha latte with almond milk and it was perfect. Then I ordered a French toast, smoked salmon and creme Brule. They are all superb! The surrounding is quite cozy, very lovely painting and designs, peaceful as not much people when we dine in . They also had an outdoor place to sit if you want to eat outside but I prefer indoor as I was prone to mosquito. Lol. The garden was amazingly beautiful, nearby is the fish creek park where you can go for a walk and a bike. Definitely will be back! Highly recommended place for a very special occasion.

Pampa Brazilian Steakhouse offers an interactive dining experience with a delightful Brazilian Churrascaria-style setting. The restaurant provides tableside Rodizio service, where servers bring skewers of various meats and carve them onto your plate for all-you-can-eat dining. The Southern Brazilian grilling method involves using skewers in a charcoal or gas-fueled rotisserie, seasoning beef only with sea salt and marinating other meats before grilling.
I’ve always had a deep love for Brazilian-style meat, and this place delivers a fantastic variety. The meats come out fast, hot, and expertly carved right at your table—fresh off the grill. I still remember when it first opened, there was a beautiful open wood fire that added a rich, smoky flavor to the meats. Sadly, that signature touch seems to be missing now. The grilled pineapple is a great addition—sweet, caramelized, and the perfect complement to the savory cuts. The salad bar is refreshing and pairs well with the meats, though I do wish it offered a bit more in terms of warm dishes, as the hot options were quite limited. Service was top-notch. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and incredibly attentive throughout the meal.

Not what I was expecting. I have been to different places in town that charge you less for the full rodizio and the food is way better. I made a reservation to celebrate my wife’s birthday and they knew it was her birthday so they gave her a free desert. It was two tiny pieces of meringue cookies and 2 tiny pieces of chocolate (compared to other places where you get a full size piece of cake on the house). The food tasted weird, not even tasted like beef. The service was ok, our server was too pushy regarding the drinks menu. When we asked about the weird taste of the beef they said “oh it tastes like beef”and that’s it. I do not recommend this place, it’s more expensive than other options in town and the food it’s not the best.

Went to Pampa in Calgary for my birthday with a few friends, and it was such a great experience. All of the meats were perfectly cooked, flavorful, and served fresh throughout the evening. Our server was incredibly kind, attentive, and made the whole night feel special. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, and we never felt rushed. Overall, it was the perfect spot to celebrate, and I’d happily come back again.

Wonderful restaurant, a table with dozens of tasty and fresh salads constantly stocked, the hot dishes then, delicious with cheese bread every minute. The fantastic meats, perfect cooking and an incredible frequency, the picanha and the delicious, the chicken, pork with parmesan with a lot of flavor, and to close with a golden key, the pineapple with sugar and cinnamon, incredible. Impeccable service and everyone with a smile on their face even more to claim the moment, congratulations Pampa for providing unique moments.

My husband and I came here for our 1 yr anniversary and we had such an amazing experience. Our waitress was very kind and all the servers with the food did a great job as well. The flavour of everything was unbelievable! The quality of meats and service was exceptional, we will be back again.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Pompa Steakhouse! The atmosphere is beautiful and welcoming, the service was attentive without being intrusive, and every dish we tried was cooked to perfection. The steaks were incredibly tender and flavorful—honestly some of the best in Calgary. A special thank you to Calvin who was super helpful and kind. We asked about cumin, and he actually took the time to look into it and bring us the information. It was such a wonderful experience thanks to his warm and thoughtful service. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a memorable meal in a gorgeous setting. Can’t wait to come back!

What’s a visit to Chop without steak? Opted for the lighter, shareable and happy hour version of steak bites…. Delicious! And a new favourite! A great option if you are keto, or in our case, paired with a beet salad and pineapple upside down cake (as recommended by our lovely server). They made it extra special with a happy birthday note. The patio is spacious and enjoyed the interior as well.

Great dining experience with some work colleagues. Service was good, no auto gratuity on our small group of 7 which was nice. Baby back ribs were moist and tender. Sides were a bit lacking but overall a tasty meal.

Everything at Chop Steakhouse was absolutely exquisite! My steak was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth. I especially loved the mushroom dip with goat cheese—rich, creamy, and unforgettable. To top it off, they surprised us with cake and coffee for our birthdays! Joani, was exceptionally attentive and friendly. She went above and beyond—chatting with us, offering amazing service, and even making a handwritten birthday card with a message in Filipino. Such a thoughtful and unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommended!

I really enjoy the restaurant. What a wonderful atmosphere. We had an excellent server. Good choice and bar drinks. Others that are tabled had wine and commented on the selection as well. I enjoy the prime rib which was awesome. Always remember to ask for the ground or horseradish.

We had a birthday celebration 🎊🎉🎊 and used their semi private room. The staff was really nice and professional, The ambiance was good, the price of the meal was similar to other similar entities. What is true is that the food prices have gone up. For the room, with the separation, you are still in the open. Sometimes our outburst would flow into the space. If there is a way to make it a more private space, that would be great.

So my bf and I are on the mission of finding the best place for steaks in Calgary and I think we just found it. We were going elsewhere, but at the last moment, my bf decided to take us here. And let me tell you, it was amazing. Right from the start, hostesses were so nice and polite, greeting us. I got a compliment on my outfit. All the ladies, dressed very professional, smiling and giving out a very great vibe. The place is beautiful. Decor and atmosphere is on point. Other than fake antlers 🫎 light fixture, didn't like that. Our server was Dre. Very sweet young man. Very knowledgeable. Polite and funny. Outgoing. He recommended us mushroom and goat cheese dip with croustinis. Yummy! And since it was our first time there, he told the chef about us and he made us a little appetizer of tuna tartar on a chip with spicy mayo, on the house. We both ordered steak Oscar. My bf had baked potato and I had cauliflower mash. Everything was so delicious 🤤. Definitely, best steak 🥩 in town, so far! So tender and juicy, just melts in your mouth. Just amazing Alberta beef! I had zero proof berry shrub drink. So yummy! Atmosphere 5/5, food 5/5 and service 5/5. We even talked to the ladies at the next table, and they said, they always come to chop and love the food and the service. They also agreed that Dre is a great server with great attitude. Very upbeat and energetic. We are definitely coming back! Overall, 5 stars ⭐! All employees were super polite and smiling. We just felt so welcomed 🤗. And we weren't even planning on going to this restaurant. Serendipity 🥰🥰🥰 So if you want great service, amazing food and drinks and be in a beautiful ambience environment, this is the place for you! And on top of that, prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of food! Very pleasantly surprised. Definitely suggest to try this place out and ask for Dre to serve you. You won't regret it!

Had their wings, steak bites and prime rib, with creme brulee as dessert during a company gathering, service was phenomenal, first time at this location, the place looks amazing and very roomy. Steak bites were a little dry and tough, which worried me about what to expect from my main course. However, the prime rib came out perfectly as I preferred it. Sides were ok that accompanied it. Definitely would come back!

More of a high end restaurant which can be seen the moment you step in: from the design, decor, staff and attention to details. Big and clean washrooms. The food is what you expect from this type of establishment and did not disappoint. The only thing is that we did not get one of the items that we ordered. In this case it wasn't really a deal but it did happen.

Italian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Calgary, Mercato Mission is a delightful fusion of an Italian market and eatery that invites you to indulge in authentic Italian flavors. This casual yet lively venue offers a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy freshly made salads, pasta, and seafood dishes crafted from high-quality ingredients sourced directly from their market.
Before we get to the food - I need to point out that the service was incredible. Not only did Meagan give us great suggestions on the dishes and wine - she was super vigilant with what we needed, when we needed it. Super professional. I’d give her a raise if I could 🙏🏼 Now for the food: Started with the beef carpaccio—thin slices of Alberta beef topped with crispy shallots, capers, arugula, mustard aioli, and Parmigiano Reggiano. It was light, savoury, and full of different textures 🥩 I always get focaccia at every Italian restaurant and this housemade focaccia came out warm, perfectly salted and seasoned with oregano. And of course the olive oil and balsamic vinegar paired with it was incredible 🍞 Then came the gigli pasta—rich and comforting, with Calabrese sausage, nduja butter, a hint of lemon, and cream, finished with Parmigiano. The rosticciano—pork ribs grilled with herbs and vinegar, served with red onion, sweet pepperonata, and toasted pine nuts. And we finished the meal off with an decadent double chocolate cake and a glass of rosso vino 🍷 😋

We enjoyed a beautiful meal on the patio last evening. The service was excellent; attentive and well informed. We absolutely loved the caprese salad and both enjoyed our linguine and papardelle pasta selection. It all paired perfectly with our Mazzolino Chardonnay (fantastic wine list). We finished with a gorgeous Tiramisu, which was light, creamy and not too sweet. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this restaurant for a girls or date night!

The first visit featured an extremely oily pappardelle. Almost inedible and the taste of the lamb wasn't there. They were lovely enough to comp it. The second visit had a better tagliatelle. The tomatoes were sweet and but they should have been cooked a bit longer. In general I find the restaurant a little sloppy. Things like starting to twirl pasta with tongs then covering it twirl with pasta so it was pointless. Or throwing tasting spoons carelessly. The cloth used to wipe plates didn't appear to be changed a single time I was there. The front of house was very pleasant and I will compliment the excellent pasta texture. The pappardelle has very good mouth feel but these aren't enough to warrant any more visits from me. There is better pasta in town.

I don’t go out for fancy food very often, but this was my brother’s treat. I am forever in his debt! Almost everything g we had was spectacular. The capreze salad, asparagus, rib eye, and focaccia were the highlights. Only disappointment for me was the prawn risotto - but my sister in law loved it. My generous brother paid the bill so I don’t know what it cost. But I know the food was incredible!

Complete disappointment. Me and my family are foodies. We travel around the world and love to try food everywhere. We were super excited to eat at this restaurant based on the reviews, our expectations were good! Sadly it started with the waiters being rude and completely ignorant, like they were doing us a favor bringing the food or taking the order. I mean I understand we had 12 people but we sat at 3 different tables to make it easier. We ordered appetisers: polpo, carpaccio and bruschetta. The bruschetta was delicious hands down. Polpo and carpaccio was a fail. Not enough flavor and freshness. We also ordered: gnocchi, linguine, pappardelle, tagliatelle and few more pastas and tagliatelle was the only one that was good. I mean This place is a FAIL mostly and not worth it he price or experience:( Our bill was close to $800 I do not recommend this place.

We went here for my husband's birthday and the staff were terrific! Our waiter described the menu, the most popular dishes and was attentive. We had high top tables with a view of the kitchen and it was incredible to watch the staff work. The food was exceptional! We ordered two pasta dishes, you could taste the freshness and then we ordered the beef special and it was perfectly cooked. If you're looking for a great dining experience with family and friends, this is it.
Cree G — Google review
Upon entering, the staff were very prompt and professional to seat us. They were kind and courteous throughout our time there. We ordered the Caprese with an extra mozzarella ball so we can share it around the table. It was delicious, but make sure you order some focaccia to go with it so that you can scoop up any extra pesto left on the plate! Next we had the Pappardelle and risotto, the risotto was just ok. Nothing exciting about it, might not order it again, however the Pappardelle was perfectly cooked al dente. It had the perfect bite and chew to it. Lastly we had the Ippoglosso (halibut), pollo (chicken) and Insalata (salad). Again the Ippoglosso slightly missed the mark, as it was oddly chewy for our taste. The Pollo or the chicken even though being the least expensive protein on the menu was seasoned and grilled to perfection - it would be difficult to try and recreate it at home. All in all we enjoyed our meal here earning its 5 stars regardless of my hyper critical notes. When I come back I would probably want to sit at the bar to watch all the action.
Armand P — Google review
Good Italian food coming in generous portions. The texture of the 4 pasta we tried was great. The accompanying sauces were tasty. Mussels and polpo were worth. The bruschetta wasn’t. The ambiance was way too loud, killing the appetite. Tim did his best to accommodate us but it was one of these busy nights. We will circle back later on a quieter evening to really enjoy the food. This is not a place to celebrate special occasions. No mention or acknowledgment was made for the bday we celebrated.

Modern Steak Kensington is a steakhouse that sources its beef and seafood locally. The menu features sophisticated cocktails and wines, making it the perfect place to host an event.
This place is a steak lover's dream come true. They specialize in top-quality beef, and they serve an amazing Tomahawk - a massive, bone-in ribeye that's as delicious as it is impressive. But let's not stop there - every steak on their menu is cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. They source their beef from local Alberta ranchers. The truffle fries are crispy and flavourful, and the mac and cheese is rich and creamy. They also have an extensive wine list that pairs perfectly with the steaks. But what really sets Modern Steak apart is the atmosphere. The decor is modern and chic, with cozy booths and dim lighting that makes for a perfect date night spot or a fun night out with friends. The service is top-notch too - the staff members are friendly, knowledgeable, and and made my dining experience the best it could be.

We came here for dinner around 6:30 pm. It wasn't too busy as there were several tables left empty. It was our first time coming here. Was recommended by a few friends of ours. Our server was very friendly and really paid close attention to detail. Our order was repeated back also with a few suggestions on the sides. The popcorn on the table was so good. The truffle oil on the popcorn was a nice touch. We couldn't stop eating it. The Modern Caesar salad was good. That came out fairly quick and had no complaints there. Our entree did take a very long time to come out. Found ourselves waiting and even our server had to apologize for the long wait. We got the ribeye tasting and it was okay. The best ribeye was the Modern Bench. Which was surprising cause I've had the Brant Lake Waygu at other restaurants and was blown away. The waygu here was not as tender or flavourful. We found the steaks to be very heavily salted. Even the mac and cheese and fried were very salty. The brussels sprouts was very good and really helped cut the salt. The asparagus was fine as well. Nothing to write home about on those. The food overall was good. Only complaint was it was over seasoned and took a very long time to come out. Our server was awesome, she really took care of us.

If you are a steak or seafood foodie, Modern Steak Kensington is the perfect choice for you. Chic, yet elegant atmosphere with electric music in the background. Our meal took us on a journey. With recommendations from our waiter, Brad, we started with the truffle oil popcorn on to the main courses of salmon and steak, which both were cooked to perfection. Desserts were Baked Alaska and warm chocolate cake. Reservations highly recommended. This is a meal you will want to take time and savor. Side note: Modern Steak has a wonderful menu for groups larger than 2.

We loved our experience at Modren steak. The steak was the best we've ever had. The mushrooms and potatoes were to live for. Next time I'd skip the lobster tails.. they were underwhelming. The wagu dumplings were okay... would probably try a different appetizer next time. My husband loved the old fashions. Service was prompt and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Really great waiter who was very friendly and knowledgeable about meat cuts and livestock. The sides provided were good in portion size and plenty of options were available in different flavours and textures. Price ranges were expected for restaurant location and type.

An experience of luxury at a reasonable price. Complimentary truffle popcorn starts the dining experience off on the right note. The food is scrumptious of course. Their wagyu is expertly done. But it is the ambiance which brings the flavors to life. From the courteous servers to the dim lights and soft music. Everything fills the space but doesn't overwhelm and allows for a magical evening over delicious food. Situated in Kensington, parking is not hard to find and the location is easy to access. Treat yourself!

What a fantastic meal. I took the wife out for her birthday and was not disappointed. Our server was Patrick, and he helped us through the evening. After a great explanation of the menu and a recommendation, we went with the filet trio. Absolutely amazing quality, cooked perfectly medium rare. 👌 As I don't drink, Patrick made me a fresh non-alcoholic mojito, It was delicious. He really went out of his way to make our night special. Thank you, Patrick. Went with Creme Brule and baked Alaska for dessert, which ended the meal perfectly.

Bridgette Bar is a trendy spot in Calgary's Beltline neighborhood, boasting a 60s and 70s-inspired interior with a wood-burning fireplace, hanging plants, art, and even wall-mounted motorcycles. The restaurant offers an ever-changing menu of contemporary comfort food, featuring small and large plates cooked on a large wood-burning grill. Diners can enjoy dishes like the creamy Smoked Potato Puree and Maple BBQ Rainbow Trout alongside unique cocktails.
First of all, this is one of the best places I’ve been to in Calgary. Usually, there’s always something I don’t like at a restaurant — but this place is different. Is it possible for everything to be perfect? Yes, everything here was amazing. Our server was Ms. Sofia — she was very friendly and welcoming. The cleanliness of the restaurant, the attentiveness of the staff — everything was just excellent. I will definitely come back here again. If I had to rate it out of 10, I’d say 11. That’s how good this place is. I absolutely recommend it.
Mucahit A — Google review
We recently dined at Bridgette Bar to celebrate my wife's birthday, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the tone — warm, stylish, and buzzing with energy. The decor strikes a perfect balance between modern sophistication and cozy charm, making it ideal for both casual nights out and special occasions. We started with a selection of small plates, including the fried eggplant, octopus salad, a tuna dish, and garlic bread — every bite was flavorful and beautifully presented. The pasta with shrimp and squid was our main course, and it was perfectly cooked, rich in taste without being overpowering. The service deserves a special mention. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make our celebration feel special — they even set up the table with a thoughtful birthday touch, which really elevated the evening. We also enjoyed a few craft cocktails, and they were just as impressive as the food — well-balanced and creative. Overall, Bridgette Bar delivered on every front — incredible food, inviting atmosphere, and outstanding service. Whether you're celebrating a milestone or just looking for a great night out, this spot is well worth a visit.

Bridgette bar has a very charming yet sophisticated environment. The staff are very professional and engaged and able to answer any questions you have. We got 6 dishes between 3 of us which was a good amount. We started with the beat salad, which was a favorite of ours, the whipped feta with it and the nuts were all a great texture and flavor combination together. The eggplant sticks were highly recommended, however, we found them a bit disappointing, texture was great, but lacking flavor. The burrata was tasty, but I wish that it came with more than just a jelly with it, having more elements would make it pop more. It was very sweet and under seasoned in my opinion. The grilled cauliflower was very tasty, and has a delicious umami sauce with it. We lastly got the salami pizza. It was delicious, but the center of the pizza was too wet and falling apart a bit. Overall the food was all tasty, but for the price and reputation I did expect better. Would like to try it again.

It was good! e service here was excellent and friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. The food had some real highlights: the eggplant fries were crispy and addictive, the lamb sausage was packed with flavor, and the wood-grilled beef strip steak was cooked perfectly and full of smoky richness. Highly recommend pairing your meal with an Old Fashioned, it was well-balanced and one of the better ones I’ve had. That said, the beef carpaccio with mushrooms was underwhelming and didn’t match the quality of the other dishes. Still, overall a great spot and worth checking out for the standout plates and vibe.

Went for a birthday dinner. The host that we first interacted with wasn't overly welcoming. Our server Hannah made up for it. She was great, friendly, helpful, recommended dishes, wine and confirmed what options there are for celiac friendly dishes. We started with the tuna crudo, which was good. Ordered the steak and lamb to share, with a side of asparagus. There was a longer delay between the appetizer and main which was fine. We received the lamb then waited about another 5-8 minutes for the steak and another 5-8 minutes for the asparagus. Lamb and steak were delicious, perfectly cooked. The asparagus wasn't worth it, the sauce was tasty but there was a lot of water on the plate, the asparagus was cool and very woody. We shared a cake dessert, can't recall the name that was lighter, celiac friendly and Hannah added a nice touch with a sparkler. Just after our mains were served the lights were dimmed to the point we could hardly see our food in the corner we were in. It's expensive so if going be prepared to spend anywhere from $75-$100/person at minimum. Overall, we enjoyed the experience.

This was a restaurant I had been wanting to try for a while. The first time we came, it was during happy hour and the place was packed, so we gave up. This time, we visited after the lunch rush. We were seated right away, and our server came promptly so ordering was smooth. She was very friendly and pleasant. My husband and I shared a few dishes, and everything was delicious. The pizza especially impressed me—the flavor was outstanding, slightly sweet, maybe from the onions? I forgot to check later, but it was truly amazing. There were two things that I felt could be improved. First, I wish they had provided separate plates for appetizers and pizza. Since the appetizer had a sauce, using the same plate took away from the nice crispiness of the pizza. For a place that isn’t exactly inexpensive, that little detail matters. The second issue, unfortunately, really changed my overall impression. Another staff member (possibly the host or manager?) was clearing dirty dishes. On the way to the kitchen, a fork fell to the floor. Instead of picking it up, he kicked it with his foot all the way into the kitchen. Having worked in the food industry myself, I found this unacceptable. He was not our server. Our sever was nice lady. It’s a shame, because the food was truly excellent, but that one moment left me questioning whether I would return.

The restaurant offers multi-course teppan meals with a selection of protein options, but takes special pride in its beef offerings.
What an entertainment experience! We went for the $35 6-oz NY strip night on my birthday; as haven’t done table-side service in many many years + looked at the reviews in choosing OMO. For $35 per person, the entertainment and hospitality produced by chef Tom and server Jessica was worth the price alone! Plus starter salad, 2 shrimp, soup, a plethora of veggies, rice, and the steak at that price point was just gravy on top. If you’re looking for a memorable moment to celebrate with family, or just to have a cool experience, I highly recommend. Bellies full, and face hurting from all the laughter that Chef Tom provided!! We’ve already made plans to come back!

What an incredible experience! My girlfriend and I came here with three other families and the energy was amazing birthdays being celebrated all around us, laughter at every table, and such a fun atmosphere. The chefs were not only hilarious and entertaining but also seriously talented. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and to our surprise, it was actually quite affordable for the quality and experience you get. This is more than just dinner it’s a destination. I would highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly recommend making OMO Teppan & Kitchen a must-visit spot if you’re in Calgary.

Celebrated my son's 13th here. Very lively vibe inside, appeared to be popular for birthdays. Kudos to Vincent for the entertainment, really funny. Food was great, I felt we over ordered as by the time our mains were cooked and served I only managed a small bite from the steak. I highly recommend the Wagyu Fusion Roll (we had other rolls too but this stood out in flavor). We stuck to the selections under the Classic Teppan meals which includes miso soup, salad, veggies, shrimp and a choice(s) of meat. Overall experience was memorable. I'd come back with a larger appetite. And no we didn't have the staff sing happy birthday, not my son's thing but we did hear it at other tables (he found it cringe). Worth mentioning, they accommodated us on short notice (a couple of hours?), for context it was a Friday evening and busy.

For our first date night in five months - since we’d been traveling with our kids - and to celebrate our 15th anniversary, we discovered OMO, and we were completely charmed! We arrived on a Thursday evening without a reservation and were warmly welcomed. We were seated at a table that would soon be joined by a chef. We ordered the Date Night menu, which was both delicious and reasonably priced. The chef’s performance was fantastic - we loved his enthusiasm and energy. To celebrate our anniversary, they surprised us with a sweet card featuring a photo they had just taken of us, souvenir chopsticks, and a small dessert. The owner even came to chat with us and kindly prepared a dish for us to take home to our kids. Service, food, overall experience: 10/10! We’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to share this amazing spot with our family and friends.

Today we decided to have lunch at this place, to celebrate my son's birthday, all the dishes were delicious, excellent service, the screens on the walls were clearly visible, a good place to have a snack in a noisy company. But there was no place by the window, as we wanted , because near the wall for us there was not enough light, it was crowded at 13-14, at 15 there were almost no people. I hope this information will be useful to someone 🌸

I had a great time at Boston pizza weather I'm there to pick up a pizza or want to play the VLT's. Since I was in the oil business for 25 years in Alberta and North British Columbia I have visited and patronized every Boston Pizza from Ft. Nelson, BC to Ft. Mac Alberta to Hinton, AB to all the Locations in Edmonton and now those Locations in Calgary including the location Off Macleod Trail Calgary. Always good service and a friendly environment A place That feels like your at home.

We were recently at this BP for 1-2 times a day for around 10 days while we were at the Centennial Cup. AMAZING service. Huge props to your Managers, Assistants, servers and cooks for accommodating nearly 30 meals x 2 per day for our team. So great to work with, super friendly and helped us out so much as our schedules fluctuated daily. Highly highly recommend. Owners if you see this, your management and staff went BEYOND what we'd expect. Huge Kudos!

There’s two of us in the party. The lady brought a napkin for my sister, but didn’t think about me brought a wet nap for my sister, but didn’t think about me. We asked twice for the wet naps and haven’t seen any since. The food was mediocre nothing to get excited over. Our waitress who should be waiting on us, was too busy talking to the other staff at the bar.

Had my usual favourite The Hungry Carnivore which was amazing! First time having fish tacos and they were so bomb! Hope they keep them on the menu all year round! Our server, Paige, was so friendly and very accommodating and quick on her feet. Will definitely dine here again and can recommend 10/10!

Unfortunately this was not a very good experience for me. I went to the lounge as I was there on my own and saddled up to the bar for a bite to eat. The interior is nice with big screen TVs all over and was very clean and welcoming. The server/bartender was prompt enough to serve my draft beer, but that was the one and only interaction until I gave up and decided to leave... It was not busy at all: including myself there were a total of 4 patrons in the lounge, maybe 5 if someone was around the corner that I couldn't see, but the bartender spent the majority of her time chatting/flirting with the party of two gentlemen while the level of my beer slowly decreased with every sip as I waited for her to return with a menu... After 15 minutes my beer was gone, and so was my desire to eat there. Glass was empty for a few minutes before she walked over to ask if I'd like another, but I was just done by that point so I paid and left to go find somewhere else to eat. I don't foresee myself returning based on the level of service I received vs. all of the other locations around 130th Ave. & McKenzie that I could go to instead. Food: NA - I wasn't able to order anything Service: 2 / 5 - it started off well enough but then fell off a cliff Atmosphere: 4 / 5 - it looks like a good place to watch a game

Visited tonight as we have done for over 10 years. The food is normally well presented and orders accurate, as it was tonight. I have eaten in all types of restaurants over the world - including award winning restaurants. However, the most critical part of your meal is your server, who sets the tone for the meal and facility. Tonight, unfortunately we were greeted by Amanda 1 and we lost our appetite immediately. She asked for drink orders and I ordered coffee and water and I ordered a large Cider for my wife. She said what size large? Now we have made the same request in this restaurant upwards of 30 times without a problem but Amanda decided to be rude and literally shouted " What size Large ?. Assuming as always that my order was clear. Not tonight - she grabbed the drinks menu and was pointing out by banging the menu and going through different sizes including Schooners and Pitchers. Now I am not sure how we must have appeared or she is not very astute, but I would like to ask her when is the last time she served a schooner or a pitcher to a couple of 70 year old pensioners? Anyway, she literally shouted back to me very loudly. Now normally, we would have left right there but we persevered through the meal without further incident. Her poor service was reflected in the tip amount- which is her loss. Usually my minimum is 25%. Also, we will not be back in that location. As stated we have been going there since we arrived in Calgary 10 years ago.

French steakhouse restaurant
French restaurant
Le Petit Boeuf is a delightful French steakhouse that has quickly become a favorite in the city, taking over the space previously occupied by Suzette's Bistro. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between casual and elegant, featuring warm decor with vibrant red accents that create an inviting atmosphere. On my visit early on a Friday night, the restaurant buzzed with energy, showcasing its popularity.
I love the idea of a steakhouse with a french touch. We had the bone marrow and beef carpaccio to start and they were both really good. For the mains we had the Signature dish and Wagyu striploin. The quality and flavor of the food was top notch. The meat was so tender it melts in your mouth. I have no complaints about the food or the service and I would absolutely will be going again. A new fav

We dined at Le Petite Boeuf early on a Friday night and it was sufficiently busy. The space is in what used to be Suzette’s bistro (although I believe they still have a Brittania location close by). It is casually decorated with pops of reds and is open, warm and inviting for a French steakhouse. First off, our server was absolutely fantastic. I wish I could recall her name but she was effervescent and made the dining experience fantastic. You can definitely tell that a server of her caliber is a seasoned professional. She made great recommendations and made us feel immediately at ease. In terms of the food, I would have to say that the beef was fantastic and everything else ranged from good to great, hence the 4 star rating. We started with the duck ravioli which was much lighter than expected. The food gras interior was well balanced but we found the ravioli a bit too al dente. The mixed mushroom fricasse had good, creamy flavours but it was salty. We shared the cote de bouef for our main which came with accompanying sides of potato and sauces. It was done to a perfect medium rare and you can definitely taste the quality of the meat. The pommes Dauphine was fantastic - little puffs with a crisp but light exterior and a soft, mashed potato interior (our server called them “fun potatoes!”). On the other hand, the gratin was a bit salty for my liking. Overall, I would definitely give this place a try for fantastic Alberta prime steak. I regret not going with more of our server’s recommendations such as the four gras torchon! I’m not a big steak person so undecided as to if I’d be back, but I wI’ll be recommending this place for others to try.

Outstanding dinning experience. We would not expect any sort of average experience from the owners of Cassis Bistro and Suzette. They did not disappoint. A great quality Alberta Beef paired with french taste is what this city was missing. Don't skip on the dessert. The chocolate mousse is equally delicious. The service was smooth, fast and very professional.
Gabi C — Google review
This new restaurant was busy and the interior was simple in design. The meat entrees are large in size but it was pleasant to see classic French potato dishes as a side. We both had the Chateaubriand and cooked perfectly. If split an appetizer and dessert between the two of you and with the main course and a bottle of wine. The bill will still be over CND $200

The food is amazingly delicious. The carpaccio is sooooo good, the roast squash is perfect and our rare steak is perfect rare. The staff were so nice and accommodating, my friends and I were on a time crunch and they really came through with getting us in, fed and out in the time we needed. I would definitely return and recommend the little ox.

This replaced Suzette. Same owners. We had a mostly great experience- not quite perfect, but very good. First, the service with our lovely Croatian server Stella could not have been better. She is knowledgeable and very kind. Service was prompt and very well-timed. We ordered the heirloom tomato salad and the côte de boeuf, which is for two and which weighs a very hefty 1.2 kg of grass-fed Alberta beef. With that dish we had two sauces and two potatoes- this was a massive amount of food and that included the outstanding complimentary bread and butter (bread from Yann's), so despite the rather hefty charge ($154 including tax and a well-earned 20% tip for Stella), we felt the that the money was on the plate. The outstanding dishes were the tomato salad and dining companion's pomme puree; in fact, I would have been happy with only those two things. The salad was majestic, with dollops of goat cheese that made it just perfect. The mash- stunning. Somewhat less successful was the beef and the potatoes I ordered, which were the pommes dauphine. I misunderstood what these were; they are in fact a mash that has puff pastry worked into them and then they are deep-fried; for all my experience with this, which is to say none whatsoever, it might have been done perfectly, but neither of us cared for them. The steak, which came with two (choice among four) sauces was delicious but a bit tough in parts- that's grass-fed beef and I did enjoy it but companion wasn't thrilled. I'll be back; that tomato salad haunts me, but I will try something different.

Super delicious and well priced bistro! Beautiful balance of french focused vegetarian to pair against the deliciously prepared beef. Squash, Ratatouille and Beef Check were incredible... Will be back for more!

Enjoyed our date, next to the large windows with a view of 4th street. The salmon was cooked to near perfection, really moist, combined with a great sauce (great for dipping the accompanied bagget). Paired with brussel sprouts and vino, great meal overall. Service was good, prices on the higher side.

Restaurant
Home Tasting Room is a contemporary eatery in downtown Calgary that specializes in wine and offers an impressive selection of bottles alongside a concise menu of delightful tasting plates. Nestled on Stephen Avenue, it’s the perfect spot for a quick tapas snack during lunch or any time you crave something delicious. The open kitchen adds an interactive element, allowing diners to watch their meals being crafted.
On a beautiful warm evening, I had the opportunity to have dinner at enjoy at the 'Home Tasting Room' on Stephan Avenue, seated outside, it had a great ambiance to take in delicious food and enjoy a good glass of wine. We decided to order several of their 'Share plates' for dinner. The salad, simple, was perfect and not overdone with dressing, with tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. The ricotta & herb gnocchi dish was exceptional and also organic potato chips with mouse on the side. Everything came very quickly and tasted excellent and the food was fresh and high quality. The presentation of the food deserves mention, as it looked as good as it tasted, served on large white plates accompanied by sturdy cutlery, which is very important. Service was prompt and attentive, but thankfully, not intrusive while enjoying our food. Overall the service, food, and atmosphere are all deserving of 5 stars. This is a great place for lunch or dinner, for business or for a date. I look forward to next time and enjoying some new delicious dishes.

As far as lunch spots on Stephen Avenue go, Home is pretty good. They aren't generally very packed, so you could probably get a table on short notice. The staff are very friendly and generally quite attentive. The food is good, but could use some work in some places. I liked my meal, but one of my coworkers found his lamb burger to be dry and plain. The others at our table were a mixed bag as well, with one noting that the house chips were boring. Overall pretty good and very reasonably priced.

I have been here a few times. Both on the patio in the summer and inside the restaurant. The meals are always unique and flavourful. The staff were very polite and helpful. Last time we were there (evening in Nov 2012) who I assume was the manager or owner seated us and made sure our meal was fantastic. It is a little small inside so I recommend making a reservation in advance for lunches and busier evenings. I would highly recommend Home Tasting room!
Caitlin C — Google review
The service was great but it was one of the worst restaurants I have been to. The vegetarian options were terrible but the others said the meat options were decent. I ordered the zucchini spaghetti and it was maybe 1-2 zucchinis with 4 grape tomatoes and maybe one mushroom and it was $20. Absolutely no flavour - I had to ask for salt.

I've been going to this restaurant for a few years now and its one of my favourite places to eat. If you go you MUST try the bison tar tar.....hands down one of the tastiest things I've had. the service is fantastic and watching chef put together your food is an experience in itself.
