Youth hostel
Aji Verde Hostel San Pedro offers simple rooms and dorms with rustic bunk beds, set in a tree-lined garden with a terrace. It's the perfect base for exploring the beauty of the Atacama Desert. The hostel provides cozy dorm beds at affordable prices, and even offers luxury tents for a unique stay experience. Guests can enjoy free dinner every night and take advantage of helpful staff who assist with tour bookings and organizing activities in San Pedro.
Outdoor space is big and nice. Lots of social opportunities. Staff are nice. They even hosted a NYE barbecue party. We loved it Although the Room is small and could be updated. The kitchen fridge is way too full and should be cleaned more regularly

Great place to stay, even for seniors like us! There are rooms for all tastes and they are clean and comfortable. Not too close to the town centre, but well worth staying at. Always something going on and even though we only used the kitchen for boiling water it was an interesting hive of activity.
Ian T — Google review
Really loved this hostel, the atmosphere, rooms and pool were amazing and clean all the time, we were staying last week there and Pricila was in the reception all the time, she was rude and unhelpful always… i bet the owner can do better with his staff. just big shoutout to Alejandra and Lina in the bar and kitchen! super friendly and helpful people! would’ve recommend if not for the receptionist’s.
Charles C — Google review
This Hostel has the best outside area I have ever seen with a nice pool and fire place. Aji Verde has the best workers, that are giving incredible advice about what to do in town. In addition the kitchen is well equipped and motivated me to cook a lot.
Pascale F — Google review
Horrible experience. This past week I stayed at ají verde with 3 of my friends. We booked the casita (one of the nicest and most expensive options) and were very disappointed with our time there. There was no hot water in the bathroom, so none of us were able to shower at night or in the morning due to the cold. One of the rooms didn’t have a heater provided, even though the reservation explicitly said we would have heat. There was a horrible smell in our outdoor space so we couldn’t use that area either. And on top of all that, we lost water and electricity 2/3 days/ nights we were there. Nothing was done to make this right. The staff were friendly but there didn’t seem to be anyone in charge. Overall, it was not worth the money for essentially camping (no water, electricity, heat, WiFi, etc.).
Chloe B — Google review
A bit of a disappointing stay at Aji Verde. While the staff were really friendly, the experience overall didn’t live up to expectations. The water stopped working for a few hours, which was frustrating, the bathroom was smelly and the room was absolutely freezing at night — there weren’t enough blankets to stay warm. Hopefully this can be improved for others in future!
Steph S — Google review
Really loved this place , Nice and cosy . Beds were comfortable, staff was helpful . Loved the woody design as well the pool . Air conditioning could be amazing thing to add and location is ok but 10-15 min walk from center , in the morning it’s pretty fine but at nights not so.
Shir B — Google review
Not the perfect location but it’s quiet and clean, a few min walk to everything which is not at all a problem. One of the best hostels ever stayed

Lodging
Hostal Campo Base in San Pedro de Atacama offers plain rooms and dorms with a kitchen, lounge, and terrace. The owner, Rodrigo, is known for taking great care of guests by providing detailed information through voice memos and preparing delicious breakfasts. Guests appreciate the friendly and supportive atmosphere created by Rodrigo and his team. The hostel is praised for its cleanliness, comfortable accommodations, and assistance with organizing tours.
A fantastic hostel for people who want to discover the Atacama nature. The staff who work there are pleasant. Especially Rodrigue who helped me with expedition trips around the area. He was very helpful and gave me good tips. The breakfast and the location are great. It is one of the best hostel i ever been at. I highly recommend this hostel!!
Viktor — Google review
We stayed here for 4 nights in a private room, which was comfortable and clean! The hostel, itself, was very nice! The included breakfast was outstanding, and we made sure to treat ourselves to pancakes every morning :) Rodrigo was an excellent host, having contacted me a few weeks prior to our stay, and helped me to plan and book my activities. The hostel is only a 10-minute walk from the Main Street, so not far away whatsoever. I would highly recommend staying here.
Alex S — Google review
One of our fave hostels!! Rodrigo was an amazing host - so so welcoming and helpful. Beds were extremely comfortable. Everything was super clean. And free breakfast is an added bonus! Defo recommend!!
Ciara B — Google review
I booked this hostel due to the many good reviews and wish I'd had the same experience, yet sadly mine was not as great. Staff was really rude to guests, especially at breakfast. I constantly felt like I was walking on egg shells, even just when asking if I could get some fruit for breakfast. One of the days the bathrooms weren't cleaned at all and got really gross, when me and other guests asked reception about it we were told that "your standards must just be different" and asked what our problem was. This was with bins overflowing, hair everywhere and stains all over the floors. Payments for tours were a nightmare and sometimes overpriced compared to booking directly with tour operators.
Kristin I — Google review
Stayed in a 6 bed dorm @ $21.60 USD / Night Moderately social which I really like, owner is pretty nice too though could smile a little bit more, odd but really good showers I’d say!! Also, the location could be slightly closer but you take the good with the less so good. Last of all the selling point of this hostel is the phenomenal breakfast!! Such an amazing inclusion which I absolutely loved and if you stay here I don’t believe you will have second thoughts. I left to go to another hostel and regretted it to be honest. No photos unfortunately.
Zak M — Google review
Great hostel as a base for your travel in the Atacama Desert. The staff is extremely hospitable and helpful. I stayed in the private room and is was clean and comfortable, perfect for a short stay. The location is a 5-minute walk into the main part of San Pedro.
Cole M — Google review
A very pleasant hostel, especially if you are planning to do a couple of tours through the Atacama desert. The breakfast is a highlight, and if you leave before 7:30 am they will prepare a doggy bag for you. I booked most of my tours via Rodrigo from the hostel, including a 3-day trip to Uyuni and they were all excellent. The common area is precious and invites people to socialize, while relaxing before, after or in between tours. The location is a 10-minute walk from the center, meaning that the accommodation is relatively quiet and laid-back. The dorm rooms are clean, yet they possess practically no windows but rather a plastic cover up top. Meaning you have a greenhouse effect inside, leading to relatively hot nights. Two fans are supplied, but don’t help too much in my opinion.
André J — Google review
Excellent! The location is prime, very close to the center (it is a small village) but also close to the bus terminal, so it is an easy walk both when you arrive and on your way out. Rooms have enough space (6 bed dorm) and you get a small locker (needs padlock) and a shelf for larger bags; they ate very clean and the beds are comfortable, although no bed curtains are install (you can rig the towel included). No AC in the rooms but during my visit, it was enough to open the windows and turn the fan on. Reliable WiFi and you can also book your tours with Rodrigo, he is very welcoming and a great host. Common areas are prime to socialize with other guests Best part is the included breakfast, they even check the day before if you will have breakfast in the hostel or if you will need a to go bag (you'll find them ready in the kitchen early next morning). The worst part is getting the right water temperature in the showers (fluctuates quite a bit). Definitely will stay here again if I come back, absolutely recommend it.

Chill Out Backpackers Hostel is a great place to stay if you're looking for a laid-back, unfussy hostel that's perfect for solo travelers or groups of friends. The friendly atmosphere and spacious communal areas make it easy to socialize, while the hostels frequent BBQs, parties, ping pong tournaments, and occasional DJ nights add an extra level of fun.
I had such an Amazing time in Backpackers! Fabi was so helpful giving amazing tips for the city and local tours (being very honest about which were the best and What no to miss). Met amazing people in a hostel with great atmosphere! 100% recommended for other solo travellers in Atacama!

Thanks so much to Augusto and team for being so kind and accommodating. The hostel set up was really cool and split into houses with a dorm, private room, bathroom and kitchen in each house which I loved & the vibes, it was a very social hostel. They also offered wine tasting nights and pisco sours for free. LOVED the hammocks also! Highly recommend!

Backpackers San Pedro Hostel was such a great experience! Dani and Johanna are honestly amazing—they make you feel so welcomed the moment you arrive and you can tell they really care about their guests. They help you with everything, whether it’s figuring out tours, giving local tips, or just making sure you’re comfortable. They’re genuinely good people, and that makes all the difference. The hostel itself is chill and has a friendly vibe, but what really stood out was how Dani and Johanna went above and beyond for us. We left feeling like we had friends in San Pedro, not just a place to stay. Highly recommend this hostel if you want a warm, welcoming experience while exploring the Atacama!

The best hostel in San Pedro ! The staff is super friendly, always available and helpful, speak fluent english and organize wine/pisco sour nights. As a solo traveller, it helped me meet other travelers and enjoy my stay twice as much! Kitchen is super clean and well equipped, as well as the bathroom (which is cleaned everyday!). The rooms are for 4 people, which I enjoyed. You have great outdoor options, such as couches, hammocks, tables… the space is green and relaxing, I liked it a lot. Definitely one of the best hostel I stayed in! You can also buy water from them, and they have a lot of different activities organized to enjoy the area. They also recommend nice restaurants et places, so be sure to check it out ;)

I stayed here as a solo female traveller after seeing the lonely planet recommendation and it was lovely! Great value with comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, lockers and a good location. The hosts are welcoming and helpful, and there are various tours that leave straight from the hostel. It feels safe and friendly, and there are free wine/pisco nights for the guests. The WiFi is good and there are four kitchens and bathrooms, so you rarely have to wait. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Without any doubt one of the best stayed I had in so many years traveling. Vibes are the best, social hostel with free events almost every night. Wine tasting, pisco sour workshop... They help you booking tours or cars or whatever you need, the WhatsApp group is definitely a plus! Everyone is welcoming you like a family. Fabiola does things with love, you can feel it. It was my birthday when I stayed there and I will remember it forever!! Absolutely recommended.
Fabrizio — Google review
super friendly and helpful staff. recommend renting a bike from the hostel and biking the devil’s throat (garganta del diablo). also fully equipped kitchen with all you need to cook a good meal (minus the ingredients, which you need to buy). thanks for a great stay!
Philine Q — Google review
The kindest staff, super helpful and informative and so so accommodating. Information on tours provided in the area was flawless. The best check in experience I’ve ever had to be honest. The hostel is small which is nice as it’s intimate and you get to meet basically everyone. It’s a quiet hostel too which is great for 4.30am start times for some tours. The place is split into 4 ‘apartments’ each with a dorm, kitchen and bathroom which is very unique and very comfortable. Structurally it’s basic. It’s a hostel and shared accomodation so don’t expect hotel quality rooms. It’s bunk beds, no air con (they have plenty of fans though) and low ceilings but it’s great for budget accomodation in an otherwise expensive area. They have spacious lockers for valuables so bring a padlock. Most of San Pedro’s infrastructure and buildings all look like this place. Common area is lovely with a large table to hang out at and hammocks to chill in. They have free events most evenings like wine tasting, pisco sour making classes all ran by the staff which was epic. They add you to a WhatsApp group with everyone in and provide information on everything that’s going on, who’s on what tours so you can link up and go sightseeing with your friends. They have cheap bike hire. It’s a 10 minute walk to the centre of town which is fine. There are still supermarkets and small shops much closer should you need essentials. Wifi was great, beds comfortable, bathrooms and kitchens cleaned daily. You can pay by card upon arrival for your stay and for tours but water/drinks etc are cash or wise transfer. Towel hire was free. They allowed us to leave some luggage there whilst we went to Bolivia to the salt flats for 4 days. We stayed there again for a night after the tour. I don’t often write reviews but had to for this place as the staff deserve it and transparency is so key. Absolutely 10/10 experience and thank you for having us!

Anka Hostel is conveniently located just a short walk from San Pedro Church, making it an ideal base for exploring the desert. The hostel offers a pleasant stay with amenities such as a barbecue area and a garden. Guests have praised the clean and comfortable rooms, with some featuring private baths and complimentary toiletries. The accommodating staff, including Angelica and Patricia, received special mention for their helpfulness and local tips on tours.
We have spent here 2 days and we were able to appreciate the service and the location. We got a room with private bath, very clean, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, new towels. Breakfast (buffet) was very diverse, fresh and tasty. We were also allowed to spend here, in the shadow, the few hours before our bus departure. people are very nice, trying to accommodate all our needs. We want to give our thanks especially to Angelica and to Patricia. We definitely recommend the place. Camelia & Sever, Toronto, Canada

Lovely hostel with shared or private rooms, right in the middle of San Pedro de Atacama. Everything is walkable and closeby, at the same time, the lovely courtyard is absolutely quiet and offers the opportunity to relax in the shadow. What is especially noteworthy is the included buffet breakfast and the friendliness of the staff. They really went out of their way to help me with a personal issue I had while I was there, they offer helpful recommendations and, as a nice touch: If you are going on a tour or leave early and cannot join breakfast, they pack a lunch package for you! Would 100% recommend.
Carolin H — Google review
Such an amazing place! The staff are kind and attentive, rooms are clean and not crowded. Anita and Angelica are the best! They made sure I had an amazing stay and also gave me so many tips on the best tours in San Pedro. When I went on a tour to Bolivia they stored some of my things for free, so convenient! Breakfast is included and I was pleasantly surprised with the food variety. Also, if you have to take an early tour they will prepare and wrap it for you! Pro tip: Call them or make a booking through their website to get the best pricing! And if you have a car, there is a separate lodging available just minutes away. Highly recommend!

We are a senior couple on an adventure. Decided to try a hostel for the first time. We had a separate room with a private bathroom. Was perfect for our 3 day stay. It was a bit expensive but less than a hotel. It was very clean and comfortable. Our room was cleaned daily, and the beds were made. Nice tasty breakfast, and the staff are wonderful. Great location with everything g u may need close by. Worth the stay!
D F — Google review
The cleanest, friendliest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The WiFi worked well for me all weekend. The outside space is excellent to work outside. All the ladies who work here were flexible and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped and the location is right in the center of San Pedro! I am not someone who loves hostels, and I loved this place!
Julia M — Google review
Been in the hostel with my parents for one week and loved the stay. The staff is extremely kind, the price is fair, the location is the best, very close to the main points, but not close enough to be annoyed with noises. There is a cozy garden, and shared kitchen. There is coffee and tea available the whole time. I was in a private room, and they cleaned it everyday, and the cleaneless is also a positive point, even the shared bathroom is very clean. The only "problem" is that the breakfast is later, and most of the tours will begin before it, but if you ask they will prepare a snack for you (juice, yogurt, a candy, and a chilean bread with cheese). I recommend a lot, but as the breakfast is very good, I also recommend that you organize your tours to enjoy it at least in some days. 😅
Raiane V — Google review
I stayed in a private room with my partner for 3 nights. The location and facilities were great, and the staff were kind and extremely helpful. Angelica was particularly helpful, rearranging our stay after delayed flights. I highly recommend!!
Natasha W — Google review
Perfect base for a laidback exploration of the desert. The staff was always willing to help me find the best tours available and work through issues with them (i.e. gas shortages). The breakfast too and their support staff really go above and beyond. The floor and room were always very clean, a rarity in most hostels. Only drawback is the showers are small and difficult to maneuver in.

5Hostal Mamatierra

Hotel
Nestled in the heart of San Pedro de Atacama, Hostal Mamatierra offers a cozy and rustic stay just a short walk from local attractions like the R. P. Gustavo Le Paige Archaeological Museum and Plaza de Armas. The hostel provides comfortable rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi, breakfast, and access to a well-maintained kitchen. Guests can also enjoy the terrace and receive helpful assistance from the staff for booking tours or exploring the area.
Friendly staff, good WiFi, spotlessly clean communal kitchen and toilets/showers. Pancakes and eggs made fresh every day and the staff will make a lunch bag if you’re leaving early for excursions. I’d would 100% recommend and return. My only negative point would be that as a lot of the tours in SPDA start very early in the morning, there’s a lot going on from 5/6am each day. I appreciate it’s not the hostel staffs fault and it’s just the nature of the location, but the tour agencies should be more mindful of other guests who aren’t on tours when banging on doors and shouting names so early in the morning.
Callum O — Google review
Nice hostel, cool decor, clean bathrooms, decent rooms, good WIFI. Hostel, however, turned out to be my WORST hostel experience ever (and I stayed in hundreds of hostels both in South America, as well as Europe, Asia, US, Africa). Never experienced such an unpleasantness. In short: all is good and nice until it’s not. If you happen to have any kind of dispute, stay might become very unpleasant. I also imagine the hostel will reply to this review by saying it was all my fault and that I am a difficult client (this seems to be the case with other negative reviews, and also their style of handling the discussion when things get difficult). In my case, the contentious case was about joining a tour with the hostel. I said I will join the tour with them (due to weather situation it was only decided the tour will go 2 hours before it was supposed to start). I then changed my mind (found a tour leaving from the city immediately so with higher chances of missing the rain) and informed the hostel that at the end I will not join the activity. The hostel requested me to pay full amount saying I cannot cancel and that costs have already been incurred (apparently during this one hour between my confirmation and change of decision). No one informed about any cancellation policies, and in case of a tour being organised with 2 hours notice it didn’t occur to me my cancellation will be an issue. I do believe that there is a way in each difficult situation and we could meet somewhere in the middle. In this case, the hostel quickly escalated the case, the tone was rude and demanding. It was the first time ever throughout years of traveling that I encountered such an unpleasant way of handling things and addressing challenges. From that moment the hostel seemed to do every possible thing to make my stay difficult. Twice during my stay, I asked whether I can leave my luggage until the evening and wait for my night bus in the common area. They confirmed that twice, but then at the check-out, at 11 AM I heard I can only put my backpack until 1 PM. At that time I already had a day of dessert trip organized. After long requests to be able to store my luggage, they finally agreed. Two hours later (when I was on a bike in a middle of the desert) I got a message I need to immediately take my bags, otherwise I need to pay for an extra night. I was also not allowed to use the common area to wait for the bus. My usual experience in South America was that either hostels allowed to keep the luggage and wait for the night bus in the common area, or inform straight away that this is not possible. In this case it wasn’t only the nuisance and stress, but the I fact that I had to wait for my bus at night at the closed bus station was - in my view - a safety risk no hostel should procure. To add on top of things, the weather conditions were dangerous and in the evening everyone got an alarm that San Pedro has to be evacuated due to the risk of a flood. Even in those circumstances, the hostel required me to leave (well aware everything in town, including bus station, is closed). As mentioned above, hostel seems really nice and I assume I could have a great stay there. Sadly, it wasn’t the case. I feel like they are very much money-oriented (I assume if I paid for the tour and paid for the extra night to wait for my bus all would be ok). As mentioned it was the first situation of this kind throughout years of travel. Very sad to see that no amicable dialogue was seeked for, and we immediately entered the war zone. Very disturbing, very stressful. Obviously it doesn’t have to be your experience and I imagine, if things go easy, you can have a nice stay there.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hostal Mamatierra! Rooms were clean, nice common areas with hammocks and kitchen is very well equipped with all of the essentials including cling wrap, oil and salt & pepper making it very easy and convenient to cook. The hostel also offers complimentary coffee and tea with an excellent variety available - things you don’t always find in a hostel. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve had in South America - a choice between scrambled eggs or pancakes made to order, fruit salad, bread, ham, cheese and a variety of spreads including Nutella! Nayira was so incredibly warm and welcoming and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. We booked all of our tours through the hostel with Nayira’s help and were not disappointed - all were executed at a high standard. Nayira was also very understanding and accommodating when we had to postpone our El Tatio Geysers tour for 24hrs at late notice due to being unwell with altitude sickness. Nayira was such a fantastic host, always very generous with her time and advice. Wifi in the common areas is excellent, but often dropped out in our room - though this may have been because our room was at the end of the hostel. Convenient location with a supermarket next door and only a short walk to the Main Street. All in all an absolutely brilliant stay in San Pedro Atacama, would not hesitate to return!

Brilliant hostel! We stayed for 5 nights and had great service from the staff. They're very helpful with booking tours and even get a 10% cash discount if you book through them. Breakfast every morning with fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, breads, scrambled eggs, and pancakes. If you have an early tour booked then they will prepare a breakfast bag to take with you. 5 min walk from bus station and 5 min walk from the main town. Couldn't recommend them enough!
Rory P — Google review
Comfortable and clean. The tours the Hostal organised were of high quality as were the breakfasts, especially the pancakes.

Really enjoyed my stay here, the place gets cleaned every morning so it is very clean. The complimentary breakfast is very delicious. The showers are hot ,the WiFi is fast & the bed and bedding are comfortable. All the people who work there are very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend!!

We stayed for 4 nights and it was a great home base for touring the area. We had a private room with private bath and it was perfectly adequate for our stay. It was about a 10 minute walk to the main street with all the restaurants, shops, and tour offices. The free breakfast with fresh eggs was a nice addition and the option to get a snack pack when leaving early was great. The electric heater in the room was essential for the cold nights.
Andrew G — Google review
I had the most amazing stay at Mamatierra. It was such a refreshing place to stay at after weeks of backpacking and staying in many different hostels, which gave me something to compare Mamatierra to. The best way to describe Mamatierra is that it is a place where someone asked themselves the question: what are all the little things that are missing or neglected in other hostels that would uplift the guests' stay? And then made sure all these things are there and well taken care of. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless as they are cleaned every day and bins are also emptied daily. Bathrooms have plenty of toilet paper and hand soap. Showers have soap and shampoo and 24h hot water with good water pressure. A towel is furnished. The rooms are spacious and well arranged. All beds have lights and electric sockets. The mattresses are comfortable and there are two warm blankets per bed, more than enough to protect you from the cold. The hang out area is shaded and great to take some rest, read a book or drink a beer. Behind it, the kitchen is also very clean and well equipped, making it enjoyable to cook lunch or dinner there. The included breakfast is tasty and well furnished with fruit salad, eggs, pancakes, jams, spreads, cheese, cured meat, sliced tomatoes, cereals etc. There's tea and coffee. If you leave early for a tour or the airport, you can ask for a packed breakfast to be arranged for you. WiFi works well and is good given the location. The hostel is very well located and only a 5 min walk from the main street where you can find everything you need. Nayira, the manager, was great, professional and friendly. She made me and all other guests feel very welcome from the start. When I needed something, she was both helpful and responsive and made my stay very smooth and stress free. Given all these positive points, I found the price to be extremely good value. Mamatierra is the perfect place for you to rest and recharge your batteries while you discover the hidden gems of the Atacama Desert.

Such a lovely, family run hostel! More of a hotel vibe with great common spaces and a kitchen diner, and everywhere was always kept very clean. Very convenient location near the Main Street but super quiet - I slept very well.

My wife and I spent 8 nights here in a double room. It was the perfect spot for us. Near to the town and great access to everything and tour pick ups. Lisbeth is incredibly friendly and accommodating and the hostel itself is such a lovely place to just sit and relax. Everything is really well kept and we felt very safe here, even when waiting for our 5am tour pick up!

Great location and beautiful hostel. 5 min walk from downtown. Great service. Lizeth was kind enough to accommodate all our requests. Room was good and great value for money if you consider the common spaces. Highly recommend.

As hostels go, this one really stands out. It is immaculately clean – in fact, it’s the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The communal bathrooms, the kitchen, and the dorms are all kept spotless, which is no small feat in a shared space. The staff deserve full credit for this; they are friendly, attentive, and clearly take pride in keeping the place in top condition. For the most part, the atmosphere was wonderfully quiet and peaceful – perfect for resting after long days of travelling. The only downside was a handful of younger guests who seemed to think it was acceptable to watch TikTok videos at full volume, day and night, and even at 5am in the communal kitchen. I did end up having words with one of them, which is not what you want in such a relaxed setting. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be for the hostel to set a clear guideline reminding guests to use headphones in shared spaces. That small step would make an already brilliant hostel close to perfect. Overall though, this place is an absolute gem – spotless, well-run, and far quieter than most hostels I’ve come across. Highly recommended.

Really great experience at Hostal Lackuntur. Firstly, excellent low price in a shared dorm room considering the facilities (decent bathrooms, very nice common areas including 1st floor terrace, nice pool). Secondly, excellently run by Cecilia. House rules very clear and everything works really well. Good location a few mins walk from the centre. One of the best hostels I've stayed in!
Will K — Google review
About 5 minutes walk into center, really great facilities, clean kitchen with gorgeous common spaces and rooftop terrace with view of the volcano. Water filter is a plus. The service and hospitality is also incredible, I was underprepared for the geyers tour and Lizeth was so kind to lend me her hat and neck warmer

We really enjoyed our stay at Hostal Lackuntur. The rooms and communal area were spotless, the hostal very peaceful and only a short walk to the centre of town.

The property is very clean, the staff are so lovely and welcoming. The place itself is very nice and cosy. I stayed in a four bed mixed. My first time in a hostel so I was worried however it was perfect! I would highly recommend to stay. It's quiet, it has 3 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a rooftop, swimming pool. I hired a car from the airport and parked it on the main road outside hostel, very very safe! Cecilia is so lovely, she works very hard all day! There is lots of seating around the hostel to chill on.

Hostal Kirckir in San Pedro de Atacama is a charming and cozy hostel that perfectly blends comfort with convenience. Located just 700 meters from the bustling Caracoles Street, it places guests within easy reach of the town's key attractions, including the stunning Valle Arcoiris only 300 meters away. The hostel offers complimentary Wi-Fi and a delightful breakfast each morning to kickstart your day.
Had an amazing stay at Kirckir Hostal! A great thanks to Jorge (George) - who was a so, so helpful with recommendations and so on for our travels. Thanks again!
Anton J — Google review
The hostel is conveniently located just a short walk from the main street with restaurants and shops. The room was cosy, and the staff were friendly. However, there was no air conditioning, and the fan only worked intermittently when adjusting the plug. Breakfast was quite basic, but scrambled eggs were made to order at no extra cost. The hostel also has a pool, though I didn’t get a chance to try it. I wouldn't stay here again.
Alain M — Google review
Very average experience. Has to be one of the most disorganised hostels I've ever stayed at. Either the owner or the manager (couldn't work out who she was) genuinely had no clue what was going on most of the time, and seemingly had more and more questions every time we walked through the door. Tried to charge one of my friends 19% because she booked an extra night within Chile, but dropped it once challenged. Rooms were comfy, toilets always clean, but a bit of a mess in terms of general running of the place.
Louis S — Google review
Location is amazing, quiet area near the city center (walking distance). Personal was very nice and helpful. Upon request they gave us more blankets. If you rent a car there is parking available on the street. Tea was available whole day. Room was super small and extremely cold. Hot shower was only upon request and it took awhile to start working. Window in our room didn't close. You have to announce your breakfast time one day in advance. None of the personnel spoke any English. Terrace is barely standing there, but it has great views.
Petra K — Google review
Bed was comfortable. Rest all facilities were good. A bit away from centre of city but it’s in reasonable walking distance.
Dhiraj M — Google review
Proper place to stay for a night or so. It's a typical hostal. S good location and the beds are nice. Only thing is that the bathroom and kitchen are pretty far away from the room and you need to cross the outside area to get there. If its raining or if it'd rained before, you'll get wet (feet)... Service is good. Nice staff.
Sander R — Google review
When my bus got delayed and I had to stay a night in San Pedro I ended up coming here because other places were far from the terminal. I paid CLP $20,000 for my own room which had a big and small bed in it. The wifi was ok. I liked the breakfast they have there. The receptionists are nice. They watched my stuff all day until the time I took the bus at night and let me use the facilities to clean up after sandboarding. Other than how expensive it was, just like any other place in San Pedro, it's a nice place.
Robert N — Google review
For me, good hostel, quiet with a (cold) pool, comfy bed and good wifi, prices ok for dorms compared to the others, an adorable cat comes to meet you. But no breakfast, only ONE really functional toilet for all the place (except if you have a private room)

Hostal La Florida is a laid-back accommodation option with simple rooms and dorms, featuring a shared kitchen and a courtyard adorned with hammocks. Situated just a minute's walk from the city square in rural La Florida, this hostel boasts friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide valuable tips on nearby attractions. Guests appreciate the clean rooms, comfortable beds, ample showers and toilets, as well as the changing daily breakfast offerings.
This is a very nice hostel with a beautiful inner garden where you can hang out. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. I felt very welcomed and safe here!
Hannah J — Google review
La Florida is... unique. Let's just say, it's not exactly built for giants. The rooms are cozy, to put it mildly. I swear I felt like I was sleeping in a dollhouse. And don't even get me started on the bathroom. I had to perform some impressive contortionist moves just to get the job done. The hot water situation was a bit of a rollercoaster. Glorious for the first two minutes, then plunging into an icy abyss. I'm still not sure what happened. The beds? Well, let's just say, they were a bit of a symphony of movement. Every time someone shifted, the entire structure trembled. But hey, the staff were lovely, especially the girl at reception. She was incredibly helpful and always had a smile on her face. And the breakfast, while basic, was decent. Though I wouldn't exactly call that "coffee" they served... it was more of a "brown liquid resembling coffee." Would I recommend it? To short people, contortionists, and anyone who enjoys a good challenge. Just don't expect a luxurious stay.
Lukáš H — Google review
Don’t go to this hostel! The value for money is extremely low. Due to the following: - the WiFi doesn’t work - the electricity has been down most of the time during our stay - the window of our room was broken, so we could hear everything happening in the courtyard - about the courtyard: there are other guests that are sitting there all night talking very loudly so they will keep you from your sleep all night (even a staffmember was listening to videos very loudly) - the room itself doesn’t have anything except from a bed (no bedside light, no bin etc) - the bathroom is extremely small (not easy to take a comfortable shower when you are somewhat taller than average) - the breakfast was late, which caused us a delay for the tour we booked - we had to pay 25 euros (!) for the laundry, which is extremely expensive - I asked for the phonenumber of the manager. I got the phonenumber of the person managing the staff at the reception, but didnt get a response - when we left the girl of the reception didn’t even bother to turn down the extremely loud music, while we were stressing because of a taxi that didn’t show up. Very rude behavior. All in all: don’t go here - there are a lot of hostels in San Pedro that offer a far better value for money. And you will be able to get some sleep too.
Blonde P — Google review
Nice hostel for the price, and in a good location too. The showers are hot and have some of the best water pressure at any hostel I’ve been to, which is hilarious considering it’s located in one of driest deserts in the world, and the whole facility felt very clean, even the bathrooms. Everyone at reception was really friendly and very helpful with providing directions or helping arrange transport to the airport. Unfortunately, the WiFi wasn’t very good. I think the router is somewhere close to the front desk, and we stayed in one of the dorms closer to the back, so at most we had only 1 bar, but usually no connection at all. That being said, if you’re hanging out in the courtyard area it was fine, and it still felt pretty worth it for the price.

I have to give this hostel without a doubt a 5 stars for their professionalism, effort, and hospitality. Not only were they unbelievably accommodating in my stay, they went above and beyond to help me. But before I get to that I want to mention that the rooms were clean, they were knowledgeable about things to do in the area, and helped me connect to the internet so that I could work remotely. (It was incredibly hard to do and have consistent internet being in the desert. The internet in the hostel was fine, it simply wasn't compatible with my company's VPN, so they directed me to the public library which worked great.) But these guys worked with me for about two months AFTER I checked out of the hostel. I left my glasses, and Mauro, Aaron, and I think the other guy's name was Jose, that worked at the other Hostal Rural, and there were two women that worked at La Florida whose names I'm forgetting now, but they were the ABSOLUTE BEST. I left my glasses and Mauro and the team worked with me to ensure I received them. I had scheduled a Fedex Pickup from America, and they CONSISTENTLY followed up with me to ensure everything was alright and that I got my glasses. There were a lot of mistakes on Fedex's part, but they did so much for me I can't thank them enough. The folks that work here are a fantastic group of people.

Bed was super comfy. WiFi was good Water in the shower wasn’t very hot. We had an issue with organising a transfer to the airport and the lady on the front desk spent an hour trying to help us. Later in the evening they assisted us with printing some material we needed in a bit of a rush.
Ciarán B — Google review
I wouldn’t recommend going there. The price for value is really low. The place seems very insecure as you aren’t able to lock the rooms. There is no storage for luggage and the rooms are so small that even there is limited room for it. All of the furniture is very old and of bad quality. WiFi is only available close to the reception. Also there is limited heated space to spend time as most of the place is in the open. The staff seemed very incompetent during our visit
Fatel R — Google review
Hostel is pretty nice, cute courtyard with hammocks, comfy beds (we stayed in a dorm of 6). Breakfast was pretty good too, and the kitchen was clean. Good location for a hostel near the main street. However, hot water often ran out and toilets were not always very clean. We were told our laundry would be returned within the day but it took 2 days to come back. It was at least clean though!

Loved staying here (5 nights). Excellent value for the price, rooms are nice and clean, bed was comfy, breakfast was great. You can have a packed breakfast if you want to leave early for a tour. I liked especially that Turipite is a bit off center, meaning it's away from the noise and bustle, so it's quiet. The bikes provided are good, the people there are very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Definitely recommended!

Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast and appreciate the attentive staff who ensure a pleasant stay. Its proximity to San Pedro's main plaza makes it an ideal choice for those seeking peaceful nights while being close to town activities.
Amazing hostel! Big room , comfy bed, and absolutely amazing staff who were both very attentive and great to get to know. Location is close to the Main Street (5 min walk) but far enough away to provide peace and quiet. Hot breakfast delivered to your room. Good shower. Awesome patio for hanging out outside.

Great location right next to Caracoles. The rooms are simple but clean. Shower is great with hot water and pressure. They come and change towels everyday and make the bed. Breakfast is served to the room and they are very accommodating to dietary requirements. There is no heating in the rooms but we were not too cold. The only issue was the Wifi doesn’t work well in the rooms and there is no communal space to use it in when it gets cold in the evening - which made it difficult for us to research and make any plans. Overall great value for money and absolutely wonderful staff!
Tanya S — Google review
The hostal is located within 7 minutes walking distance from the main plaza in San Pedro making it ideal for those that want an undisturbed night of sleep but still be near everything in town. We stayed in the triple room; three individual beds with a private bathroom. The room was a great size with a decent amount of space to store luggage. The room came equipped with a fan, small fridge, television and wifi, but we couldn't get that to work reliably which wasn't a problem for us. The bathroom was also a good size and regulating the temperature of the water in the shower was easy enough. The staff was kind and friendly and offered to provide us with some breakfast in the mornings though we didn't manage to enjoy that given the early departure times for the tours we chose. They even allowed us to check-in early which was a huge help so we didn't have to drag our bags around town on the first day.
Jean-Baptiste V — Google review
Staff performance overcomes the limitations of the place. They go above and beyond. Having said that, main limitations: -Poor WiFi coverage in the room. Ok in the garden though. -Really poor lighting in the room. - Not always hot water for the shower. There is a known situation with water restrictions in San Pedro, but the situation is made worst if hostal does not turn on the additional support water pump. You need to chase them for that and they are not always there. -No first aid kit. Self-explanatory. To be fair: After 5 days there, having listened lots of experiences from other places in the area, this seems aligned with other complaints but I can only comment on this particular hostal

Hostal Piedrita de Rio is a simple yet lovingly maintained hostel with clean rooms that are tidied daily. Despite being a bit outside the center, its tranquil location offers a peaceful retreat just a 10-15 minute walk from the bustling area. The accommodation features a beautiful courtyard with hammocks and barbecue areas, as well as a well-equipped and clean kitchen for guests to use. Additionally, there's hot water for showers and bike rentals available by the hour.
Stayed 5 nights at this lovely hostal. Clean, well furnished rooms and great outdoor spaces. Elvira and her daughters were very attentive and friendly - anticipating our needs and giving attention to the small things. Kitchen was very handy and well equipped - we cooked there every night. Breakfast was very good. 15 minute walk out of town - we didn’t mind the walk at all and loved the tranquility. No issues with pick up from tour companies at the hostal.

Basically came only to sleep, the room is what you expect, clean and ok. Elvira was helpful and breakfast was ok. Downside is that the day we left we arrive from a tour at 1130 and checkout was at 12, came to the room already done and stuff out, couldn't shower or go to the bathroom.

Lovely place and very quiet. Our host was so kind and helpful. We were able to store our bags there after check out which was really handy! Only downside was the location. As it was slightly further out of the centre, tour operators would not collect us from there for our excursions so we had to walk to another hostel or into town. Not the end of the world as the walk in was only about 15 mins but certainly something to keep in mind.

The breakfast is also very tasty, sometimes even with eggs or pancakes. The courtyard with hammocks is also wonderfully quiet. The rooms are beautiful and very neat. The center is a 15-minute walk, it is a safe walk, a flashlight can be useful. We rented bikes from Elvira to cycle to garganta del Diablo and we also stopped at pukara de Quitor. It is only a 15-minute bike ride away. It was a lot of fun and we recommend it! Thanks again for everything, Elvira!! ❤️ (Original) Fantastisch verblijf. Hotel La Casa de Don Tomás is a laid-back accommodation option in San Pedro de Atacama, offering a peaceful retreat near the heart of the town. The hotel provides easy access to urban attractions and is just a short stroll from lively Caracoles Street. Guests can enjoy down-to-earth quarters with amenities such as breakfast, Wi-Fi, private bathrooms, complimentary toiletries, safety deposit boxes, fans and heating.
We stayed here for four nights recently and really liked it. Our room was great and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The free drinks station in Reception was welcome; tea, coffee, juices and water were all available. We had a couple of meals in the restaurant and they were fine. Good, friendly service. The hotel is a short walk from the main street in San Pedro.
JA H — Google review
The rooms are shockingly small and feel more like cramped storage closets than proper accommodations. At night, the cold is unbearable. You’re given a tiny electric heater that doesn’t work, and worse, the windows don’t fully close some even have actual holes in them, letting in all the freezing air. For two nights, there was no running water at all. When the water finally came back, there was no hot water and barely any water pressure just a trickle from both the sink and the shower. This place is all aesthetics and no function. It’s clear that the owners invested in a good photographer, not in basic infrastructure. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere unless you enjoy freezing, not showering, and being misled.

I stayed at this hotel in San Pedro de Atacama for four nights and overall had a very good experience. The location is excellent—just a short walk from the center of San Pedro, which made it easy to explore the town and join tours. The breakfast was another highlight: generous, fresh, and a great way to start the day before heading out to discover the desert. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the stay comfortable and welcoming. That said, there were a couple of small drawbacks. The bathroom was quite small, which at times made it a bit uncomfortable. Also, there weren’t many electrical plugs in the room, which can be inconvenient if you’re traveling with several devices. Overall, though, it was a pleasant and enjoyable stay. The positives definitely outweighed the negatives, and I would recommend it for travelers looking for a well-located hotel in San Pedro with good service and breakfast.

Fantastic hotel! We arrived early, when the room was not yet ready for check-in. But the staff provided us with the possibility to have a shower already (including towels, shower gel etc), since we didn't have one the day before in Bolivia, cold water there... In both rooms a (375 ML) bottle of Brut was waiting for us, nice surprise. Rooms and beds were quite fine. Breakfast was good. The day we checked out, we left San Pedro only in the evening. So we had a tour to Moon Valley in the morning and an activity in the afternoon. Still, before leaving the hotel (and while checked out already earlier that day), they again gave us the possibility to have a shower before continuing our trip in the evening. Very friendly and supportive personnel! Location is quite fine, about five minutes walk to the 'main' street.
Peter H — Google review
We spent three nights at the hotel in August’25 and it was a great experience. The hotel is perfectly located, close to the main street (5 min. walk) and far enough to avoid the music at night. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. But what made the difference was the kindness of all employees, starting with Don Ricardo, who welcomed us, and including the ladies at the frontdesk and the waiters at the restaurant. If you have the chance to dine at the hotel, don’t miss it! We enjoyed it the last two nights.
Antonio V — Google review
The online room booking website is easy to use. The reservations staff at hotel were very responsive and helpful. The reception and guest facilities were very good (clean, convenient, spacious, modern and well-maintained). Price was reasonable. Overall positive experience. Minor negatives: 1. The rooms were modern and clean and well equipped. Only complaint is the shower - there's no door or glass panel to close the shower completely and block any water spray - so the floor outside the shower recess got very wet without a drain. 2. The laundry service did not have dryer, and relied on external laundry line. Despite same day service promise, my laundry was still not dry at check-out time the next morning.

We loved everything about La casa de Don aromas, except the size of the room. It was a bit small, so it was hard to move around. However, the service, restaurant and amenities made up for it! The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The facility itself is well maintained and in a great location. Super close to the main town, about a 5 min walk. What really wowed me, was their dinner service. The food was what you’d expect from a high end restaurant without the tag price. If you can look past the size of your room, you’ll have a great time!
Raquel C — Google review
This is a great hotel to base yourself in. We visited in January and the bedrooms do get warm during the day but you can safely open the window after sunset and a nice breeze comes through, as there is no Aircon. The hotel has a calm and tranquil vibe to it and you feel welcome and at ease all the time. In reception there are refreshments 24/7 and a water bottle refilling station which is very handy. The hotel is clean and well maintained with friendly staff that are happy to help. The food in the restaurant is excellent for both a lunchtime snack and an evening meal. If you are doing trips then this hotel is outside the centre so can still be dropped off by the bus as the centre is pedestrian only between certain times. The main centre is nearby after a short walk.

Hostal Rural is a centrally located hostel in Sad Pedro, within walking distance of the city's main attractions and close to natural springs and Rainbow Valley. It offers a relaxed environment catering to backpackers and those seeking a laid-back atmosphere. The private rooms are comfortable with large beds, towels provided, and hot showers. The hostel also features art and design touches that make it visually appealing.
The whole town is like a fairy tale. Small small town, friendly local people, happy tourists… I feel relaxed and joyful even when just walking on the streets. I shouldn’t booked my return ticket in advance, I wish I could spend one more week here, even though I have done all the major tours. I will talk to more people, know more of their life stories, wander on the main street, ride a bike in the desert… And this hostel, with its friendly staff and passionate design style, definitely played a very important part in the first impression of this town.

Pros: Good location in the centre of town so easily accessibility to bars and restaurants. The beds were comfy and the rooms had lockers to store belongings. The space itself is nice with good areas to chill out and relax during the day. Showers were hot and had good water pressure. The free breakfast was generally fine with fresh juice, tea/coffee, roll, and yoghurt. Staff were generally very friendly and helpful. Cons: While it does have a kitchen the oven wasn't working during our stay, we spoke to the receptionist who also spoke with another person who worked there and neither of them could get it working either. The 6 bed dorm was very cramped and the beds were incredibly rickety and juttered at the slightest of movements. The plug sockets were placed in inaccessible places and generally obscured by the beds themselves so we had to move them to access them. No outside alcohol is permitted which wouldn't be an issue necessarily with a well stocked bar however the selection was abject and the pricing on par with bars in town. This is a shame as the space could be really social given better thought.

Such a fun experience, all the staff are super nice and welcoming. Rooms are great and the cleaning staff is the best. Highly recommend! 10/10

Amazing experience here, one of my best stays so far in South America!!! Very close to the Main Street and the tours, which make it super convenient and the staff is super friendly and the vibe very welcoming. Highly recommend!

During the week a rather cozy and chill hostel but with a great party on Friday! Prices at the bar are also a lot cheaper than in other bars in San Pedro. 10/10 to José the reception manager who helped me both to get a refund from an agency as well as in general for hyping everyone up :)

Rural is a wonderful place. The Style is very unique, a Feeling of coziness sets in as soon as you Walk through the door. This is ensured by the lovely decorations and installations, hammocks and the many opportunities to sit and chat. The rooms are clean, as are the bed linen and the sanitary facilities. The staff deserve special praise. I quickly warmed to the staff, they were always helpful, relaxed and great fun. We laughed a lot, even though I don't speak Spanish (thanks again to Danny for the birthday brownie!) When I return to San Pedro, I know where I'll be staying!

Having stayed in numerous hostels in most countries of the world I am just naming the facts without qualification. Pros: great location, kind personnel, nice breakfast, good tips for trips, good price, good WiFi, more or less social Cons: blasting music past midnight for no obvious reason on 2 out of 4 nights, no warm water on 3 of 4 days, very noise old bunk beds, no parking
Johannes M — Google review
I loved my 5nights stay here and would say it was my favourite hostel so far during 2months of travelling in South America. - It isn’t a party hostel but is very social, I think a big part of that is due to the friendly staff, especially Dani who is a total ray of sunshine, amazing energy, welcoming and helpful to everyone. - 6bed mixed dorm was fine but would recommend the female/male only upstairs, as they had some natural light. - Shared bathroom facilities were fine and shower was hot with decent pressure and were cleaned very regularly, along with the other communal areas. - Breakfast simple but good and liked the set up and kitchen small but effective. - I used laundry service here which was cheap, fast and came back clean! - Great location, just off the main street, supermarket and plaza few blocks away and pool around the corner. - Also liked that there were plenty of places to chill around the hostel and be social.

Youth hostel
Casa Voyage Hostel in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile offers a cozy and laid-back atmosphere with vibrant murals, a communal kitchen, and cultural events. Guests can expect late nights by the bonfire, mingling with fellow backpackers, and enjoying traditional meals. The hostel provides spacious lounges, hammocks for relaxation, and organizes tours and dinners to facilitate connections among travelers. It's recommended for solo travelers as well as those seeking private rooms or domes.
Best Hostel in town. It has a really nice crowd of travelers, which are easy to get to know when there is a dinner option (pizza / burger / asados & beer) every evening for a fair price! The pool is amazing for chilling and taking a refreshing dip. Everything is clean, laundry costs 2.000/kg. Kitchen is super well equipped and staff is very friendly. It is a 10min walk to the city center. Be sure to book in advance (at least one week) as it sells out quickly!
Mary T — Google review
Chile is notorious for its bad customer service but what I encountered at Casa Voyage is beyond appalling. When I made my reservation I asked for a lower bunk bed as I had a foot injury. Not only did they not care about my request and my injury, but they went out of their way not to give me one even when one became available. Receptionist Felipe showed a disgusting attitude, apparently thinking that tourists need to be put in their place and should bow down to him. Little does he understand that without tourists, he’d have no job, let alone have a little empathy and basic human to human understanding and warmth. I won’t go into the details of the ugly exchange I had with this individual, but in his words they don’t need our money, they don’t need tourists. So go spend yours somewhere else where you might be valued and respected as a guest. I wrote a formal complaint to the owner of Casa Voyage, but the response wasn’t too promising. As for the hostel itself, it’s too far from everything and you won’t want to stay there. Their rental bikes and other services are pricier than in other places. The rooms are crammed with people; not a single hook in sight so you need to sleep with your wet towel. The showers and sinks are outside and you’ll be freezing early morning and late at night while brushing your teeth. The bedding and pillows didn’t feel fresh.

Casa Voyage was my favourite hostel in San Pedro! I stayed at three different places during my time there, and this one stood out. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, the beds were comfy with privacy curtains and the communal areas had a great relaxed vibe. They also organised fun evening activities, which made it really easy to meet other travellers. Highly recommend!
Steph S — Google review
Stayed for 4 nights and was very glad to be there. The Atacama is proper dusty (as deserts often are) and so to have somewhere nice to come back to was 'muy bueno'. Most importantly, the lady who worked there, Paulette, was great. I reckon I asked her eight million annoying questions and got very helpful answers. They also had a dusty desert dog and a cute Cate which was wicked. Muy Bruno.
Michael Q — Google review
Great hostel - lots of good areas to chill out (especially by the pool). Very clean. Helpful staff. We stayed in a private room (by the dog kennel) and on 3 occasions, people tried to get into our room thinking it was the bathroom / reception etc. The room doesn’t have a number/name, so perhaps this would be a good addition to avoid confusion.
Grace O — Google review
The way I feel about casa voyage is really quite mixed - the hostel itself was nice enough, facilities were basic and the beds were as comfortable as you’d expect from a hostel in a pretty remote part of South America. It was however riddled with classic Latin American incompetence. I thought the 2 receptionists working the front desk weee always a little dismissive and rude, treating you as ‘just another unsatisfied tourist’. The hostel dorm was small, especially for the very pricey rate $22 a night. There was essentially no space to hang up wet towels or store bags in the dorm. Showers having hot water was unreliable, and were not exactly clean either. The worst thing however about this hostel is the fact that they only took cash - why all knew why, but they shut us down when we enquired about paying with card. ATM fees for foreign cards in San Pedro de Atacama are absolutely extortionate - banco de Chile will add on a surcharge of 5,500 - 8,000 ($6-9). This makes it extremely difficult paying for things at the end of your tour when you’re running low on local currency. My advice : pick a hostel that takes card! The only thing dragging this up from a 2* to a 3* stay is the group of people it attracts! We had simply great dinners provided by the hostel, with people from all dormitories gathering in the very cosy communal space Casa Voyage had. The hostel dinners are also pretty cheap at 7000 CLP, which ranged from burgers, pizza and asados with beer included each time. The same affordability cannot be said of their tours (which of course you must pay for in cash). I would recommend going to other agencies in San Pedro located in the Main Street. You’ll get a very competitive price especially if you book a tour package.
Ferdinand G — Google review
Hostel is okay, but for me a lot too pricey. Friends of mine stayed in the „Aji Verde“ and paid half the price for a much nicer hostel. Staff is not really helpful, bathrooms are tiny and not nice and at night it’s freezing cold in the rooms. Also don’t rent Sandboards there, overpriced and really bad! At my stay I forgot a little booklet there and I am trying to get it sent to me than more than two weeks!!!! I am willing to pay for it and they couldn’t manage to go to the post office once in 2 weeks to ask for the price - no customer service at all. No recommendation sorry.

Hostal Las Kañas is a 2-star accommodation located just a short 5-minute walk from the Archeological Museum of Father Le Paige and about 4.2 km from Valle de la Muerte. The hostel offers compact yet cozy common areas, including a spacious second-story dining area and a well-equipped kitchen with basic amenities. Guests can enjoy the lovely garden for relaxation and appreciate the helpful staff. The private rooms come at an affordable price, providing comfort with ample blankets to keep warm.
This place earned the stars with my shower combat (more on that in a minute). The whole layout is is compact but cozy. It provides common areas that are good for meeting others, or space if that’s what you want. A large second story dining area was nice. The secure parking was great. The common kitchen was useful and stocked with the basics… with some charm. The bed was… slept in by lots of people. But hey. It’s a hostel. Location? Perfect. The shower? This is a case of a thing that irritates me, then becomes a favorite characteristic. The water pressure to the shower head is strong, but sometimes stronger. The shower head itself was spraying water in several directions in addition to the main streams. Little spots of air sounded like growling as they came they the line and I wrestled the settings for temperature. Hot. To hot. Hell. Perfect. Hot again. 😂 I was fully entertained. Cannot recommend enough.

Love this place! For the price of $30 a night for a private room and private bathroom, this place is the best deal in town. Comfortable bed too with lots of blankets if it gets cold, though the room never got too cold. Friendly chilled service and close to the main strip. The problem is the showers are ice cold and very very little comes out. So one star off for freezing/no showers.
Y B — Google review
Rooms very basic. Our room was full of mosquitoes and flies. We had to cover ourselves with mossy spray even at night and still got bitten. Some mosquito nets would have made it much more pleasant. Also there is no fan in the room and it stayed very hot even at night. The owner was not friendly at all. However, laundry was helpful. Location is good, near to town and pick up for tours.

Loved my experience here. Good price, near center. Well equipped kitchen. It's quite and cozy. And it has a hostel vibe. You get to meet new people. Wifi sometimes doesn't work. It's very dependent on your room location

It is a lovely place, 2 minutes away from the centre, yet it feels like you are out in the country side. There is a nice garden to relax, equipped kitchen to cook, with tea and coffee available. The rooms are basic but clean and warm. The staff helped us out with what we needed!!

Good hostel with a good location right next to the main street, a well-equipped kitchen and nice outdoor areas. We had problems with the Wi-Fi not working very well and the hot water in our shower.
Molly G — Google review
The room was clean and the yard very nice; a bit on the expensive side - but this is an expensive part of Chile. Nevertheless, the owner put me into a room next to another room that was under construction. From my arrival at noon until 8:40pm there was nonstop sawing, hammering, and yelling. It was *extremely* loud and, if you're arriving from Uyuni or somewhere like that and need a nap midday, I'd suggest elsewhere.

A nice staff, always willing to help you. It has a small kitchen, room was nice and clean. The hostal is located close to the town main Street "Caracoles", like 3 blocks away. Good for families with children.

Spacious room, friendly service, good breakfast, and quiet. We liked being a little bit outside of town with more space and amenities. Staff was available to give us a ride (5 min) into town or bring us back if we didn't want to walk. We stayed 4 nights and loved it.

Just south of town but the owners will drive you into town and back for free, so no taxi needed. Great people and very friendly service. Only one drawback and no heating in the rooms so can get cold. Free breakfast is great with lots of options. Quality is well worth the cost.

Came here in November 2022 with my wife on our honeymoon and we really enjoyed our experience here. The staff were all super friendly and our room was clean with a good view of the backyard. They were helpful with recommendations and saved us from missing out on the Geysers. We rented a car so we didn't mind the drive to the location but it's technically walkable. Our stay was brief but it was memorable. Definitely coming back!

We had an unfortunate experience with the lady running this hotel. We did not book online, as we wanted to see the rooms and property before committing. I communicated with her through WhatsApp to ask if we could come by. When we arrived I asked to see the room that was available, and she was very hesitant to allow me. She said normally she required guests to register and pay before they can see the room. When she did take me to see the room, I casually asked if there was hot water, she got angry and said these are the kinds of questions that will be answered after we have registered and paid. She wouldn’t let me see any other areas of the property and lectured me on how she doesn’t have time to show rooms to every guest who just shows up. This hotel was a top result when I searched on sites like Priceline. I imagine that most people book online and pay in advance. This hotel must be used to selling their rooms online, and doesn’t feel the need to practice good hospitality to prospective paying guests, as most guests have already paid before they show up. From what I did see, the rooms were dark, the property looked shabby, and there was loud music and guests in the pool area. I’m glad I went in person instead of booking online. We ended up staying a few nights at La Rukka and at Ittai Hotel. Both places had lovely hosts who were happy to show us the rooms and property, and answer any questions we had, including if there was hot water!

Friendly and professional staff make this a great place to stay in San Pedro de Atacama. Rooms are set in a courtyard with a shared lounge, private parking, and a garden with table tennis.
Hostal Sonceck is an oasis of green and tranquillity, a few blocks away from the main square the Church, excellent value for the money. Located in a privileged position of San Pedro de Atacama, is a quiet place, situated out of the dusty streets of the neighbourhood. You are very nearby to restaurants and other touristic interest points of San Pedro, but safe, quiet and happy. The owner is a very nice lady, helpful and warm with all her guests. The parking provided for my rented car was a treasure in this place, because it is impossible to let your car unattended, so this was an extraordinary bonus. The restaurant Delicias del Carmen is split up by a wall and a window from the courtyard of the hostel. Great dishes, very well appreciated by the tourists, highly recommended as well. I would chose Hostal Sonceck again if I'm coming back to San Pedro de Atacama. Muchas gracias por todo !

Hostal Sonchek definitely is your best cost-benefit option in San Pedro de Atacama. It is lass than 100 meters from Caracoles, the main street, and the rooms and services are very good at a very attractive price. Florencia is a differential from the hostal, making every interaction with the employees just perfect. Also the owners are very nice and kindness, always ready for help and provide assistance when needed. Despite you can not bring visitors inside the hostal, there is many great common areas that you can enjoy with the others guests - as a very good kitchen with teas, coffee and free coca leafs. The cleaness are very good dispite everything is very simple. Super recommend this place and also I will be back again as an guest anytime I visit Atacama. Thank you for everything!

An absolutely beautiful, and very special Hostal that captures the spirit of the town and Desert. The staff are extremely kind and welcoming. The kitchen facilities are great including free, real coffee, and facilities to store and cook your own food.

We loved our stay at Hostel Sonchek, it's perfectly located in town, lovely place, and the owners are so kind and helpful. We needed help with a few different things while we were there and they were always so quick to respond and really helpful. The room was lovely, a bit cold but that's just San Pedro and we were there during a particularly cold spell! The kitchen was great, clean and well equipped and the outside spaces are nice. Laundry service was quick & cheap. Overall would definitely recommend!

Good hostal, good room, good kitchen, wifi works relatively ok for San Pedro standards. However, we had a double booking and needed to share our 4 people room with 2 others. Then we booked an additional night in a private room which the day before suddenly was not available anymore. A big chaos in administration! And she does not feel that guilty about it....
Wilco N — Google review
It’s a beautiful, clean and cozy hostel with pretty nice location to the town. The most important thing is that the reception is very kind and helpful at any time. When I was waiting for the shuttle bus back to airport, she helped me call that bus company several times in case that I wouldn’t catch up my flight. I really appreciate them for providing excellent experience in San Pedro Atacama. I recommend it very much and if I have the opportunity to come visit San Pedro de Atacama next time, I will definitely stay here again!

I'm shocked these people are in the hospitality business. The staff was rude and would whisper in Spanish about their guests. The water, both hot and cold, didn't work while I was there for 5 days. The toilet was usually clogged. My bed was full of fleas and cat hair (they let the strays sleep wherever). The kitchen was unequipped to properly cook. Overall, horrible value for $20 a night.

Nice hostel with okay facilities. However, because of a double booking we had to share the room for two night. We then booked an extra night, which was comfirmed, but because of overbooking (again) we were suddenly told to leave the 3th morning. The owner did not feel bad about it and simply told us to book something somewhere else.

The destination is convenient to walk to town, and you get your own key for the gate so you can leave and come as you please. I enjoyed chatting with the hostess, and would definitely stay there again.

(Translated by Google) I stayed at Casa Macaw from September 11th to 16th, 2025, and absolutely loved it! The location is great, right next to Caracoles Street, where everything in San Pedro is (restaurants, shops, agencies, pharmacy, etc.), making it super convenient. Saul, the owner, is incredible! Very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Besides telling incredibly interesting stories about the region, he also arranges airport transfers, which was very convenient. You can tell he truly cares about making guests feel at home. Breakfast is another strong point: a wide variety is available at any time, perfect for early morning excursions. There's always food available throughout the day, which was a huge plus. The rooms are comfortable, with warm beds (essential in Atacama!), and everything is very clean. The shower and sink heat very well, and the bathroom has a glass shower enclosure, much better than a curtain (which is more common in the region). In short, Casa Macaw combines comfort, practicality, and impeccable hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel welcomed and comfortable in San Pedro de Atacama. O Saul, dono do lugar, é incrível!

(Translated by Google) My stay at Casa Macaw was simply wonderful. The atmosphere is cozy, very well maintained, and exudes a tranquility perfect for relaxing. The location is also excellent, very close to the city streets. The showers have apparently been renovated and work wonderfully. However, the biggest difference was the service from the owner, Saúl. From the very beginning, he was extremely attentive, answering my questions and offering valuable tips and stories about the city. During our stay, he was always available: he helped us organize breakfast, recommended tours and restaurants, and even helped repair a friend's shoes. Saúl arranged our transportation, taking us from Calama and back to Calama at the end of the trip. Furthermore, the small details made a difference: like when he helped us with coffee, tea, heaters, and pillows throughout our stay. This care and dedication made our experience at Casa Macaw even more special. I highly recommend it and will definitely return on future trips! Nestled just 8 km from the stunning Piedra del Coyote and 28 km from the soothing Termas de Puritama, Hostal Belén offers a cozy retreat in San Pedro de Atacama. Guests can enjoy comfortable accommodations complete with seating areas, a lovely terrace, and complimentary WiFi. The hostel serves a delightful buffet breakfast featuring pancakes, juice, and cheese to kickstart your day. Hostal Belén is praised for its cleanliness and friendly atmosphere.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt so compelled to leave a review for a hostal before! This place is just a dream. It’s such a relaxing place with super clean bedrooms and a great kitchen for those who want to cook. But the thing that really makes it are the people who work here - what a wonderful group. It was like staying with friends. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Staff is extremely rude. I came in to help my friend with her bags to get them into the car and asked to use the bathroom. I was met with so much rudeness and disrespect; it was unbelievable. I was not welcome there at all, even though I helped her check in and they knew me. It’s not like I looked like a bum or a robber, lol. It made me very uncomfortable. Be nice to people, lol.

Nice and cozy hostel! The rooms are very clean and they are cleaned daily. The breakfast is the best I've ever had in a hostel. The owner Neyira is incredibly friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my time and would have liked to stay a few days longer. Thank you for the wonderful time.

I just checked out of Hostal Belén today and left with a full but heavy heart because I wish I could have stayed longer!! My trip to San Pedro was my very first solo travel experience as a young woman and all of the staff, and I mean EVERY SINGLE PERSON, was warm, welcoming, and kind. I was really nervous about feeling safe while traveling alone and prior to my trip I had no time to set up an itinerary, but luckily none of that didn't put any damper on my trip thanks to the staff, specifically Leo and Nayira (I believe she is the owner). On my first day they both made me feel so safe, San Pedro really was the perfect place for me to have my first solo travel experience. Leo gave me a presentation of all of the best and most popular places to visit, and let me tell you they did not disappoint! They organized tours for me and every single day was amazing. I cannot stress enough that it would not have been the same without the staff at Hostal Belén. Every morning Marsela prepared breakfast and was such a sweet welcome. During my time speaking with her she always referred to me and everyone else saying "mi amor." Really just warmed my heart. Such a cool environment! I could just go on and on about how amazing the staff was but if you are going to stay at here you might also want to hear a little about the accommodations. Breakfast being included was AMAZING there was pancakes, eggs, yogurt, juice, coffee, cereal, oatmeal so many options! The kitchen was great to and being able to cook when I wanted to was a big plus for me. Everything was always super clean. My room was great as well! The bed was comfy and warm and I had plenty of room for all of my belongings and plenty of personal space as well. The shower was always hot. The location was also perfect! Pretty much everything you could need is in walking distance. The center of the town was probably no more than a 15 minute walk. And I just loved the area as well. It was so sweet to see the gardens and playgrounds that were very clearly loved by the people who lived there. Super sweet area that will now always have a piece of my heart. Again I could just keep going on and on! If you are going to visit San Pedro, Hostal Belén is the place to stay.

Hostel Belén was a beautiful and super comfortable place to stay. The rooms were spacious, the beds really comfy, and the breakfast was wonderful. The staff were also lovely and welcoming. I only moved because I was meeting a friend and wanted to be closer to town — otherwise, it was great!

(Translated by Google) Nayira is a sweetheart. We arrived at the hostel after midnight and she even arranged a private transfer from the airport for us. There were 3 of us. The hostel's facilities are very good, the room we stayed in was large and could accommodate the 3 of us. The private bathroom was a highlight because we like privacy to use the bathroom and take a shower. On the tours that we left very early, she always provided snacks. I can't help but recommend the hostel. Although it's not very close to the main street: Caracoles (an 18-minute walk), it's worth it for the comfort and peace.

The owner, Nayira, is very attentive and helpful, and helps with everything - tours, recommendations for places to eat, and more. Sometimes we left early for our tours and breakfast didn't fit in, but they left us snacks, juices, and muffins - typical packed lunches, lol. The Wi-Fi was great. Anyway, I recommend the hostel! Located in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, Heladería Babalú is renowned for its delicious Italian ice cream and wide variety of exotic flavors, many of which are made with local products. Visitors rave about the excellent quality and diversity of the ice cream options as well as the option to take their treats to go. Some popular flavors include rica rica, chanar chips, hoja de coca, cactus ayrampo, and algarrobo.
A lot of different and local flavors, worthy try some options. The service was good, it is a traditional ice cream
Rafael S — Google review
Cool concept but as someone who's sampled most of the unique flavors, it's mostly overrated. I cant say if $3usd (4.90 for 2) is high for the region but is otherwise high for South America! I was verbally requested to tip during payment on my first visit by a chico. Very bold! There was a nasty chica who kept saying 2 SAMPLES ONLY after her colleage already gave me several. If it's a rule, post it! You have extremely unique flavors in a tourist town at a high cost per scoop. IF YOU WANT SALES YOU MUST ALLOW MANY SAMPLES. That's life. Second visit she wasnt there and was fine but I noticed a giant tip jar for "an iphone" or whatever. Very tasteless. That said, of all the flavors I had I only liked two: catcus is good and selva negra (black forest cake) is addictive!
Morgan B — Google review
They have vegan options -you must ask because there are no signs. You are allowed two samples per person. We had the flor del desierto (not much taste but still also very tasty), pisco sour, orange carrot (so delicious!). Kind, helpful staff. Can get ice cream in cone (not vegan) or cup, healthy portions
Donna C — Google review
The ice cream tastes exceptional and most important: it is made with natural ingredients. Each flavor comes through and is just the right amount of sweet. We were very surprised and didn’t expect much since I don’t think that Chileans are known for their ice cream skills. But since I taste ice cream and gelato all over the world I needed to give this place a fair try. The coconut, mint and passion fruit ice cream are the best I have ever tasted. And I’ve been to Italy many times! Hazelnut was still good and natural tasting, but did not compare to gelato places in Florence - still decent though. It is definitely on the pricey side but depending on your budget worth trying :) And the service could’ve been more friendly and welcoming, had the feeling they were a bit uninterested/bored

We went here three times during our stay in Atacama. Every time I ordered a local flavor and was deeply impressed by the quality, taste and variety. The best ice cream in town. I recommend the Rica Rica Caramel!

Aura Andina is a unique restaurant that offers a self-service style dining experience. The menu includes affordable options like the "colacion" for 3,000 Chilean pesos, which consists of a protein and two sides, with a vegetarian option available. The cafe shares space with a vegan/vegetarian cafe but has its own distinct offerings. Guests can choose from a buffet-style lunch with soup or salad, dessert, and a main dish with two side dishes.
We went to Aura Andina for dinner and was a nice discovery! The dinner was very tasty and my girlfriend appreciated so much her plate! (me too mine) She said: the best dinner in San Pedro!

Food was great quality. Atmosphere was a little weird for an early Sunday brunch, very loud house music even though only a couple of customers, shares a space with vegan restaurant which was a little confusing. The waiter was attentive but not very friendly. I think it would be a fun place for an evening meal and I suspect they are more friendly to people who can speak Spanish.

The food here was absolutely amazing. I ordered the Quinoto de Champiñon with Salmon, which was a risotto-like dish but cooked with quinoa, along with mushroom and salmon. The taste was out of this world. Too bad it was closed the previous evening, and I was only able to dine there on my last night in the region, but I’m glad I had the chance to do so.
Jason Y — Google review
Thought the food was just okay. Service was friendly, and we appreciated the English translations on the menu. We ordered the camarones al pil pil, pastel de choclo, and salmon al camaron. Unfortunately both seafood dishes were overly salty and the salmon and shrimp were overcooked. That said, ambiance is nice and we appreciated the musician who was singing live when we were there.

This was our first eating outside while visiting South America and Chile. The food was fantastically delicious. Broad menu lets you find something for yourselves. Satisfactory selection of wines and beers. When we couldn’t finish what we ordered, there was no problem with packing the food to go. Very nice service, and friendly staff. Highly recommended. I even took a photo of the menu to try something of theirs at home.

Tried booking the day before but via Google and there was no answer via Facebook messenger so decided walk in. On arrival- place was half empty. Interior- basic, uncomfortable seats- wood with no padding, sat in the courtyard. Took 10mins for orders then another 20mins for drinks to turn up- pisco. Had the Res Al romeno and the ceviche. The rice in the Res Al Romeno wasn’t very nice as the cheese had a very odd taste with olives and mushrooms. Olives in a cheese rice is a very odd combination- also it was preserved olives. The ceviche mixta was good. The tiger milks was in a small shot glass so could control how much to pour. Lots of onions, two not so garlic bread and some sweat potato . Pisco was good but without the egg white . Service was awfully slow. Only go if you are not hungry and time to kill!
Travelling D — Google review
Two restaurants in one, one serving local food, other vegetarian & vegan. We went for the first one. Both, salmon ceviche and salmon with quinoa were really very good indeed. Freshly made juices also followed the suit. Prices are on an slightly more expensive side.

La Parada del Desierto is a simple restaurant located near a hostel and close to El Loa airport. It offers affordable and honest chicken and chips, making it a great value for money in San Pedro de Atacama where dining can be expensive. The locals frequent this place, indicating its authenticity. The portions are generous, with the option of takeaway orders available.
It’s always a good sign when the locals are eating here. Very simple place. Chicken was very moist. Fry’s a bit soggy, ask for crispy? Locals put the mayo, ketchup and aji (spicy) on their fries. Filled us up for cheap. Nice change from the more touristy places.
Jason C — Google review
It looks very unassuming but don't let that trick you, very welcoming staff and best of all the chicken! I got the half chicken (7.5k) and 6k pesos chips and I couldn't finish it. Cover it in the hot sauce (aji/chilli) and you won't be sad!
Josh S — Google review
As someone who lives in South London who was missing a chicken shop, this filled a hole! The prices are so good and the chicken was cooked brilliantly. It seems like a family business and it was lovely to see them work together with such a great and relaxed attitude. I also have a gluten intolerance so rotisserie chicken with fries is a nice, safe bet for those who aren't celiac but struggle with a lot of the bread and pizza options
Jaroseartistry — Google review
We got takeaway dinner from here as we had already tried another good chicken place in San Pedro. 11000 CLP for 1/2 chicken and small chips. The portion sizes were huge. When we went around 7.30pm, it was very busy with lots of locals who had come in for takeaway orders, so we had to wait around 30 minutes for the food to be ready. Was delicious though!

A reallly lovely, relaxing plaza which serves as a central gathering place for both locals and tourists. It is very easy to reach and has a lot of cultural significance dating back to the 17th Century and surrounded by stalls and restaurants. It also offers great views of the Andes. San Pedro de Atacama, Chile 🇨🇱 is a dusty little oasis where Mars meets Burning Man and everyone forgot chapstick. It’s a desert town, yes, but also a melting pot of backpackers, stargazers, wannabe shamans, and people pretending not to have altitude sickness. Expect adobe houses, llamas roaming casually, and about 47 tour agencies on every street trying to sell you the exact same geyser trip at “special price.” The stars here are unreal, the air is dry enough to mummify fruit, and the vibe is half spiritual awakening, half sunstroke. At 2400 meters above sea level with humidity so low your eyebrows flake off, San Pedro de Atacama is where water bottles go to die. Everyone’s wearing alpaca sweaters, even if it’s 25°C, because apparently overheating is the price of looking “local.” Verdict: Weird, wonderful, and just dusty enough to be cool. Would come back with moisturizer, electrolytes, and fewer expectations of clean socks.

Hotel Cumbres San Pedro de Atacama is an upscale desert retreat offering luxurious amenities and stunning views. Nestled in a rural location just a short drive from local attractions, the hotel boasts gourmet dining, a spa with various treatments, and three outdoor pools for relaxation under the desert sun. The peaceful setting allows guests to feel secluded while still being within walking distance of the town center.
Love this hotel so much, very clean, good location and very friendly staff. Love their spa massage service too. The restaurant food was amazing also. We had dinner here for a couple of nights and it was so good. They have plenty of parking. Room service is very clean. Breakfast is good, they have lot of choices including vegans and non dairy products. Would stay here again next time we are back.

Hotel Cumbres San Pedro de Atacama offers a peaceful and comfortable stay just outside the centre of town. The bed was exceptionally comfy, and the room was quiet which is exactly what you need after long days exploring the desert. The food was very good, with a different special menu each night, which kept things interesting. However, I was put off by the persistent requests for tips at every meal. On one occasion, after finishing a self-service breakfast, a staff member asked if we wanted tea or coffee as we were getting up to leave, and then asked for a tip – which felt inappropriate as she hadn’t been present for the entire breakfast. I considered marking the hotel down for this, but ultimately, sleep quality matters most to me, and in that regard, Cumbres delivered. An almost perfect five stars.
Paul B — Google review
Very nice resort. Everything was good except for one small detail that really put a damper on my whole experience. The Dry Sauna i was looking forward to experiencing was turned off and it took me over an hour to get someone to turn it on. Most of the staff didnt even know what time it is turned on. With tours and time constraints it is important for the hotel to clearly communicate times available and make sure everything is ready when those hours are set. Other than that the experience was very good. Clean hotel but the area in general has lots of fine dust. The air here is so dry that your skin, nasal passages and eyes dry out completely. The hotel does a great job of keeping big bottles of lotion and sunscreen available to apply. Overall we had a great time and will miss the resort (minus the dust).

We loved this hotel! ❤️ The rooms were spacious, clean, and well equipped. The staff were amazing! Although it wasn’t as conveniently located as some of the other hotels we stayed at while visiting the Atacama, we didn’t mind at all since we had a rental car and actually loved the peaceful setting. The breakfast was amazing, and the staff were so kind and accommodating of my vegan diet. Everything was fresh and delicious!

The hotel was beautiful, although it lacked maintenance. However, the service was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Rude staff. They really made us feel like we were bothering every time we came to ask them anything or for anything. They don't know what customer service is. The restaurant menu lacks variety. On Christmas we asked if they were hosting any special event and they told us the restaurant had a special dinner but reservations were closed already. When we asked how we were supposed to know about the reservation they said they had sent an email which they never sent to us. I cannot describe how unhelpful their staff is. do NOT stay there.
Dana G — Google review
Fast Wi-Fi included. Staff was very helpful and spoke English. Large, rustic designed rooms with modern fixtures. Comfortable bed. A bit far from town but it is very quiet. For being in such an inhospitable desert this hotel is an oasis of luxury. Enjoyed our stay.

Betsy R — Google review
Architecturally appealing hotel which is recommendable despite some flaws which could easily be avoided. The rooms are quite cosy and clean but poorly soundproof, which means you depend strongly on the decency of your neighbours. The vegan menu is fairly limited, however, upon request the chef himself put a lot of effort into regaling us with non-listed delicious dishes. Staff in general was polite and courteous. The spa place offers good quality services for a reasonable price. You would not expect that at a hotel of this price range the management has obviously no attention of detail. Most pictures on the walls and lamp shades are crooked, wood-panelling's and other decorative elements are occasionally damaged. We confronted the manager with these obvious but easily preventable flaws, but instead of taking our observations as a constructive criticism he came up with all sorts of ridiculous excuses. In the end, the hotel is good, but could be outstanding with a capable manager.

The location is perfect, you can walk to the city center easily and the exit of the city is super close. You also have the Pukoro very close and the way to the Diablo valley. The place is very picturesque, the rooms are nice, they are simple but clean and comfortable. It was neither hot nor cold and the bathroom is really nice, I loved the shower. The outside is nice with hammocks and a pool surrounded by a lot of green. You have cats around which is super cute and also a climbing wall. In the night it feels very safe as mystique. I just loved staying here and highly recommend. Remember this is not a 5 star hotel so come if you really want to feel San Pedro then this is a place. If you are a picky annoying tourist you better stick with your typical resort all inclusive

Stayed during summer March 2025. Had a great time. Rooms are clean. Breakfast was great. Buffet style and scrambled eggs with cheese and ham. If you leave at 4 am, they provide you with a breakfast you can take on the way :) Nice pool. Very friendly service. Not loud. Peaceful and quiet. Loved sleeping in the domos and most importantly the BED was AMAZING. yes it can get warm sometimes but that’s just desert life. Open the window sleep under one sheet. When it gets cold get the wonderful duvet they provide. Location also nice I enjoyed that it was a little outside of center San Pedro (less than 5 min walk to the center) so it’s nice and peaceful. WiFi everywhere. On check out day they let you make use of the pool, keep bags at the reception, and make use of their public bathroom and shower. Safety was superb. You receive 4 keys, one of which unlocks the gate if one wants to go to the geysers in the early morning. Thanks for having us! :)

Perhaps in summer this would be better. But, it's one step above camping in a tent. But the unheated domes are horrible for the winter. The only heat source was a heated blanket. Breakfast? Ha! Two slices deli ham, a slice of cheese and one scrambled egg...when there was an egg: not guaranteed. And in a room so damn cold the coffee couldn't even stay hot.
Jonathan P — Google review
Cute, but basically camping. The domes do not maintain their temperature at all. Huge gaps in the door, allowing freezing air in at night. Beds were rock hard. Shower had hot water, but randomly went to freezing then scorching. Breakfast was just bad. Extremely minimal offerings [old dry cheese slices and one type of deli meat] The "drinking" water tasted off. Would not return.

You will stay in a doom which is not insulated and they done give your any room heaters. We were taking 5 duvets and still had cold nights (3 nights). It was terrible! Temp outside was below 0 deg C. Proper bedside tables - no Cups/ glasses in the room - no Hot water early morning - no After one bath, second person could not have enough hot water in shower. There is a kind of workshop or something adjacent, and lot of machining sound during the say. Breakfast needs to be ramped up a lot. Most of the items are mostly over and refill takes a long time. Breakfast is a struggle Location bit isolated (almost outskirts of San Pedro)

Place has potential to be 5/5 especially given the decent price and good rooms. However, the staff treated us like an inconvenience especially as we aren’t fluent in Spanish. It made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. They had a dog that growled every time we walked into the office. Breakfast was not good - one bowl of eggs between two people? We didn’t mind the location which is slightly out from the centre, but worth knowing that it is about 20 minutes from the bus station.
Yasmina — Google review
Beautiful location and interesting and unique rooms. Half way between staying in a hotel and camping. The room walls are thick, so they are both insulating and sound proof. Clean beds, friendly staff. Breakfast is nothing special but it is still good. It's a bit of a walk from town as you can obviously tell from the map, but I liked it for that reason. Plenty of space for parking right next to your room. If you get bored, there's a climbing wall to mingle at. I would recommend staying here.
Aaron F — Google review
Great location, since it's away from the touristy main streets in the town (ca. 5-10 min walk from the main square). The staff is very friendly and helpful when it comes to practicalities, such as tours to book and things to see around town. The rooms are quite large, clean, and comfortable with a unique design. We used a transfer service from Calama airport (return ticket 20,000 pesos per person), which was very much worth it, since the streets in San Pedro de Atacama bumpy, dusty, and not suitable to roll your suitcase around.

Rey Lagarto Hostel in San Pedro de Atacama offers simple rooms and dorms, some with shared bathrooms. The hostel features a kitchen, BBQ area, swimming pool, complimentary Wi-Fi, tour desk, and sun deck. Guests appreciate the spacious common areas and helpful staff. The large kitchen is well-equipped with ovens, fridges, and dishwashing areas. Additionally, the hostel provides tours and free bike rentals for exploring the surroundings.
Pretty place. There is though one thing I just couldn't stand anymore after my three days stay - the girls working there walking around with the telenovelas on their phone. No matter they are doing laundry outside, or cleaning the kitchen inside where you might be also sitting, you have to listen to the spanish TV show they are watching. It becomes very annoying after a couple of days. Other than that, it was nice there.
Olivia L — Google review
Pros: big kitchen, rooftop terrace!!, comfortable beds, free things to use such as sugar, tea bags, and towels. Cons: lockers only fit small padlocks and mine didn’t fit… the receptionist said she has padlocks for rent but then was out of them. There are only two bathrooms for the hostel so sometimes you need to wait 20 min or longer. Far from the center, twenty minute walk, but calm.
Constanze G — Google review
UPD: Missed thing was found in friend’s bag. Review was corrected. My apologies. Making rooms in the same area as the dining zone is a horrible idea. It’s hard to rest when someone is playing guitar or talking out loud right in front of your door and windows. Rooms are clean and reception is fine, though. Also, my thermos went missing from the room, so be aware that the staff might not only be cleaning the rooms but also sweeping your stuff away.
ACT-54 — Google review
Clean, well organised ( with many notes all around the place on how to use things - it is always helpful in the hostels), tv, place to chill on the terraces, grill if u want to do a barbecue, good internet, place to keep your bike. I paid 10 dollars per day in a shared dormitory. Plus some % of comission to pay by card. I have not seen a cheaper price in San Pedro. But don't worry it is cheap but it is a very very good hostel.
Michał C — Google review
Had issues with the receptionist dishonestly rejecting our online reservation saying it didn’t exist and made us pay a cash price 17% higher than was listed online for our booking. They ended up marking the reservation as a no-show and we lost our 10% discount. Otherwise was a decent hostel, but the dishonestly soured our experience

Chose this hostel for the starlink wifi, as digital nomad this place is quiet and has good connection to work online!! Very clean, good kitchen, helpful staff, chill vibe, a bit further from the center but I like the walk, there is a local market and cheaper restaurant nearby, san pedro is a more expensive destination, the prices are ok for the destination Thanks for everything! Recommend!

amazing place! wifi is great, lovely common areas and a terrace with hammocks, nice big kitchen and lots of fridge space. it is a little far out from the town but it wasn’t a problem for me. great value for money, highly recommend!!!

Loved this hostel!, The rooms are nice with lockers inside. The common areas are big and nice to hang out. People working there are really nice and helpful. There are a lot of electrical outlets and the wifi works very well so you can work here very comfortably. They have a small place to park your motorcycle in case you came by motorcycle like me. The Kitchen is great, its very large and it has 2 full ovens, 2 fridges, 2 dishwashing areas and a big table to cook. The best part, its VERY affordable, and for the price its really more than you would expect. Fully recommended.

Nestled just a short 5-minute stroll from the vibrant heart of San Pedro de Atacama, Hostal Pueblo de Tierra offers a serene retreat for travelers seeking both comfort and convenience. This charming two-star hostal is an ideal base for exploring the stunning landscapes of the region while providing a peaceful atmosphere to unwind after adventurous days. Guests can enjoy freshly prepared breakfasts with eggs made to order, and the attentive staff ensures that every need is met, contributing to an overall relaxing experience.
Had a fantastic time here. Common areas are beautifully decorated and feels like a resort. The rooms are spacious and clean, looks better than their photos. Staff were awesome, super helpful with any requests and questions. Breakfast was adequate. Hams, eggs, cheeses and bread to help you start your day.

The hotel is very nice and located in a quiet(er) part of San Pedro. The staff is very friendly and attentive. You can reach the main road where all the shops and agencies are in 10min by foot. What’s a plus is the breakfast hours from 4-10am, since a lot of tours (like El Tatio) start super early. The hotel has a pool which is very refreshing after a day full of tours. The only thing what was a minus for us that the walls are very thin! You can hear everything from the neighbor rooms like TV, people talking at a normal volume etc. We had a room facing the pool and common area, it was very loud from the outside during night for example when people went to breakfast at 4am and talking on their way there. It was a bit disturbing for getting a good night‘s sleep. We talked with some other guests who stayed in rooms in a different area of the hotel and didn’t have the same experience noise-wise. So it depends on the location of the room I guess.

Tranquility at its finest! The hosts (Javier and Mayrita) were very responsive to our needs. Emails prior to our trip were answered promptly. Our room location was perfect, bed comfortable and room clean. The upper terrace was a gem location for watching the sunrise! Breakfast was delicious! The cafe in the evening served very fresh sandwiches. This was especially helpful after a long day or before an evening stargazing tour. Location is an easy walk to the museums! Recommend booking tours through them as they arrange to best companies and guides! The cost for this convenience was the same as tour agencies in town. The entire staff was respectful and kept the place spotless. Other guests were also kind and considerate ♥️ THANK YOU FOR ADDING SUCH PLEASURE TO SEE THE STARS OF ATACAMA DESERT A DREAM COME TRUE!

Lovely calm and relaxing oasis to relax in after a long day out. The breakfast is fresh and elaborate and is served from 4am! Eggs are made freshly upon request. Rooms are large and cleaned everyday, they could just do with some more storage. The staff have been super helpful with any of our requests and the place smells great, the location is a short walk from the center which allows it to be a in a quiet and calm area. There is a corner shop nearby for fresh water, bananas, snacks, etc to prep for the tours. Overall, the hotel has provided us with an amazing experience and we would definitely recommend it!

Very nice place, with a good and abundant breakfast. Quiet and with good WiFi and nice staff. I gave 4 stars only because after 4 days they did not change our towels, but, to be fair we did not ask. The 4 stars on the location deserve an explanation: having our car it was very comfortable to be slightly out of the city center (no car zone), but walking on very dusty roads every day to get to the city center, was annoying.

Honestly such a calm and relaxing oasis to come back to after all the tours. The breakfast is fresh and elaborate. Eggs are made freshly upon request. Rooms are cleaned everyday. The staff have been super helpful with any of our requests and I cannot get over how good the place smells due to the wood of the pool (?) the location is a 5 min walk from the center and allows it to be a in a quiet and calm area. There is a corner shop nearby for fresh water, bananas, snacks, etc to prep for the tours. Overall, the hotel has provided us with an amazing experience and we would definitely recommend it!

The perfect little hotel in the most wonderful place. Staff were help, kind and friendly. Rooms were warm but cooled down at night. I left some personal belongings out and there were placed nicely on my bedside table. Safe and secure. Pool area was great. We stayed in rooms 103&104... Very quiet. Would recommend staying here if visiting San Pedro de Atacama!

This is a little oasis situated in a quieter part of town, with paved roads and pavement! The architecture and layout is wonderful, there's a lovely roof terrace, bathing pool and patio. All rooms face in to the gardens and pool. The rooms are of a decent size, well furnished, with a safe, hair dryer and 50 inch smart TV. There are fans, but no AC, however this was not needed, as the rooms stay cool and the fan is adequate. The breakfast buffet is also good. Staff are warm and friendly, although not all speak English, so helps if you can speak some Spanish.

Ive been to several countries and hotels. This has probably been the best hotel experience ive ever had. The service is rocket science. They make you feel special every second of your stay. I couldnt recommend it more. It is pricey, but it is worth every penny. The guides are very experienced and the service provided in the expeditions goes above and beyond. Trust me… it is miles away (in the good way) from its competitors in atacama. Special thanks to Felipe (guide), Benjamin (waiter), Fernanda (waiter), Carol and Maria Jose (managers). Will definitely be coming back one day. Unforgettable!!!!

Tierra Atacama is an unforgettable experience in the desert. We’ve been lucky enough to travel to 53 countries, and Tierra Atacama ranks among the very best places we’ve ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond. Christian was incredible—he made sure every detail was perfect and was always there to help with a smile. Paula, our tour guide, was a true gem—knowledgeable, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about the Atacama. We felt completely cared for during each daily excursion. And a big thank you to Esteban, our driver, for getting us everywhere safely and comfortably. The food? Honestly, it exceeded even our high expectations. Every meal was beautifully prepared, and the service was warm and professional. BBQ night was a standout—amazing meats, fresh salads, and even pizza. Special thanks to Ignacio, Aledia, Carol, Royer, Benjamin, and Carolina at the bar—you all made each meal feel like a celebration. Our room was fantastic. Spacious, beautifully renovated, and incredibly comfortable. The outdoor shower and private pool were just the cherry on top. Housekeeping came by twice a day and made sure we always had everything we needed. The spa was another highlight. With a long list of treatments and such a welcoming team, we ended up booking treatments three days in a row—and would’ve done more if we had the time. If you’re headed to the Atacama, Tierra Atacama should be your first choice. It’s not just a hotel—it’s an experience. Hats off to the entire team for making our time here truly unforgettable.

We absolutely loved staying here and felt cared for from the moment of airport pickup. It's a little over an hour drive to Tierra from Calama and the scenery is gorgeous. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted warmly by all staff, especially Chris. Every meal was exquisite and we appreciated the 'alternative' menu that had lighter choices. The rooms are beautiful and newly refreshed with heated floors and outstanding views. We used the outside space and outdoor shower constantly. We had choices of excursions and thoroughly enjoyed each one because the guides are friendly, fun and knowledgeable. Get the Rica Rica sour from the bar and don't forget the visit the relaxation room in the spa. Nightly star gazing is a must, also. Thanks Tierra Atacama for a holiday we will cherish!

This place was amazing. We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed every second there. The excursions were great, we went to the hot springs which i would totally recommend, the geisers which were really cool, Rainbow Valley which had really cool colored rocks and my favorite, the sand dunes. The restaurant was great. They have a menu that changed every day. If you don't want what's on the main menu they have an alternative menu that has more classic food like pasta or burgers. The staff were even better than the food and the excursions combined. Some of the best staff are Chris (the assistant manager) who greets you as soon as you walk in and is super funny, Carole who gives you a tour of your futureistic room which has a heated towel rack, heated floors and my favorite- the outside shower. Benjamin who was the best and kindest server, Adrian who was so nice and helped answer all of our queries and questions and was our star gazing guide. We went to the pool a lot and trust me its the perfect temperature. Its about 90°F or 35°C indoors in the spa. The spa is great, we got massages which are very reasonably priced. They have a sauna and a steam room and a relaxing room to chill in. You can order tea as well. We went star gazing but it was very cloudy but our guide Adrian said we should try again tomorrow or the next day. We did and it was amazing!

(Translated by Google) The hotel claims to have a 24-hour reception, but problems aren't resolved at night because the staff disappears or is reluctant to resolve them. One day, the heater ran out of gas, and we requested a replacement at the front desk, but the staff member said they couldn't do it because there was no gas. We had to sleep in the cold! The next day, another staff member said there was gas, but the guy just didn't replace it out of laziness! On the last day, the hot water in the shower ran out, and there was no staff member at the front desk to fix it. I was also woken up by a hotel staff member who asked me to move my car to another parking spot because two cars had parked incorrectly and she couldn't wake them. Are the owners of the other cars more important than me? Why could I be woken up and they couldn't? The Wi-Fi didn't work in the rooms or in the common areas. The only positives were the comfortable bed, the cleanliness of the place, and two staff members who were able to resolve issues during the day. I booked the place because of the benefits offered (Wi-Fi, hot water, heater and 24-hour reception) and I wasted no money.

(Translated by Google) The heater is gas-powered, uses a cylinder, and it's so old that it's lit with a match. To make matters worse, the gas ran out at 3 degrees Celsius, and the front desk simply told me to stay out in the cold until the next day, when they MAYBE would order a new cylinder. I'm sure there are empty rooms with full cylinders, but they don't have the capacity to replace them. There are other negatives, such as no Wi-Fi in the rooms, no TV, and burned-out light bulbs that make the room dark.

3 mins walk to immigration, 6 mins walk to bus station, <10 mins walk to plaza. A bit pricy. Room and bathroom are clean. Have distilled water for u at reception area. Pool is small for a dip only. Nice sun to relax and get sun tents. Have in-house laundry. Breakfast ok. Ham and cheese and eggs etc. Powder coffee. Hot shower and strong water flow. Noise insulation not good but everyone try to keep the voice down. People are helpful even if u don't speak Spanish. We stayed for 2 nights just now, didn't get insect bite and rarely see flies. Good to test up after few days of uyuni salt flat.

A well-rated hostel off the beaten path. It took a while for us to locate this hostel as it was quite a distance from the city center, but we appreciate the quiet at night and the relative peace at the property. Breakfast was good with a decent spread and a grilled cheese sandwich machine. They provide free drinking water as well which we appreciated. On our second night, the hot water failed us and they didn’t manage to restore it back so we had to shower in the cold in the middle of winter. As we were about to pay for the room, they insisted we pay in cash or add additional tax of we pay by credit card. This is ridiculous as Chilean law states that tourists are not obligated to pay any tax of any kind and hostel/hotel are supposed to except credit card without charge (unlike in Peru). We suspect a potential tax evasion but we didn’t want this little incident to ruin our holiday, so we paid in cash and let it go. Staff doesn’t speak English as well so be ready with your Google Translate to get by and communicate.

Tucked away in the vibrant San Pedro de Atacama, Hostal Possada Atacamena is a gem for backpackers looking to blend comfort with community. This hostel stands out as an ideal choice for those eager to explore while keeping their budget intact. With its inviting communal areas, it creates a warm and friendly environment where travelers can gather, share tales of their adventures, and forge new friendships.
Great location a bit away from the busier parts of this small town. Kitchen Is clean and well stocked, able to use from 0700 to 2200. Hot Water in the private room, and didn't need AC because it really cools off in the afternoon. Only problem was at check in the there was no actual reception. The cleaning lady Let us in, after 5 minutes of knocking and ringing the bell, and even seemed reluctant to do so. She then explained to us that although we could check in that we wouldnt get our keys for the room or for the hostel front door until 7pm (which turned into 8:30pm in reality). We left the hostel a few times and had to bang loudly at the door until another guest would come and Let us in. Apparently this Is common here. Super nice hang out áreas. The wind chimes are a real treat, and there Is a tall platform for having a drink, smoke, or stargazing in the grounds. Also two super chill Cats. Good vibes

We arrived earlier and we left our staff there after a long night travelling. At first the cleaning lady was very nice and informed us that we had to wait untill 2 pm(Check in time). We went for a walk and went back to the hostel where we had to wait a bit longer and when they gave us a different room from what I booked I asked what was the reason we had another room and other guest that arrived later had priority on check in. They just told us that we were not welcome anymore there and asked to leave. The hotel is dirty, they are very unfriendly and from what they told us the kitchen was not working either. Feel lucky they cancelled our reservation as booking find us another place way better for the same price. JUST AN ADVISE. DO NOT GO THERE.

The hostel itself is nice and well located, but unfortunately, the attitude of the manager really ruined the experience. Upon arrival, he asked us if we were “kind people” in a very passive-aggressive tone — not exactly the warm welcome you’d expect, especially when traveling with your father. The woman at the reception is incredibly kind and hardworking — she’s cleaning all day and doing her best — but it’s sad to see how poorly she’s treated by the manager. His behavior towards both guests and staff was disappointing and uncomfortable to witness. It’s a shame, because the place has potential. With better management and a more respectful atmosphere, it could be a great hostel.

I didn't actually get to stay here. I had a booking for myself and my friend through the Hostelworld App. Upon our arrival we were told they were fully booked (with no explanation or apology). We asked if we could quickly use the wifi to find another hostel to stay in (we just arrived from Bolivia that day so had no local SIM). We were refused. Fair enough, we weren't paying guests. Then we asked if one of us could stay in the foyer with our bags whist the other walked to find another hostel (it was hot and we were tired). We were bluntly refused. At that point it was obvious we were unwelcome, so we promptly left. It was a shame as this was our first impression of Chile. I hope other guests felt more welcome, but it seems from reviews that this is not the case.

Don't book here!! - terrible service and an apparent history of scamming guests! I booked 3 nights in this hostel, I checked in and was given my bed (no pillow though) I put my stuff in the room and on the bed and left to go into town. When I got back and was in the garden I was called to reception where I saw all of my stuff on the floor and was told that they were overbooked and i had to leave. My Spanish isn't very good so I asked my friend to help translate, she came with me and we spoke to the manager/owner. The guy said that they were overbooked for 2 days and blamed hostelworld for not taking the hostel off the site but not to worry they'd move me to another hostel... When I questioned why no one had contacted me after I booked it the day before, or why I was not informed at check in after I had been given a bed, he started to get very hostile. I asked for the name of the other hostel so I could check reviews and straight away I found Hostel Nativo had reviews explaining that this is a scam that they and hostel Possada Atacameña are running to extort more money from people and how Nativo is dirty and not maintained etc. When we showed these to the manager/owner and explained how I was not going there he really got aggressive, he shouted at my friend who was translating and told her she'd no right to speak about the reviews as she was a tourist. I expressed my frustration that they had touched and moved my belongings without my consent or knowledge and that they were left in a open unsecured area of reception and he dismissed me too. We ended up walking out and he slammed the door behind us. From previous reviews on hostelworld and here this is a common issue with this guy. Avoid at all costs!! Despicable people!

very unfriendly owner who made us not at all feel welcome. He accused us of stealing just because we hung our laundry in the back yard close to his private property (which is in no way declared as such). He also messed up our reservation and couldn't offer us the booked room. It really is a shame because the hostel itself is nice and clean and the other people working there were very kind.
Magdalena S — Google review
I had a very bad stay at this hostel. The room and the sheets were very dirty. The pillows were thinner than a bed mat. The toilets were often out of service or clogged. Avoid at all costs.
Andrea M — Google review
It is such a disgrace of Chile, i made a reservation but upon arrival they told me they did not have a bed for me, the owner said they contacted another hostel and asked me to cancel the reservation on booking,i was so stupid to trust him, turned out the other hostel did not have bed and the whole town did not have a single bed or room, when i returned to the place, asking him for help,he said you canceled your reservation by y ourself!what?never been cheated like this!tricked me into canceling and now rudely asking me to leave the place! where am i going to sleep for the night?on the street?without the slightest sympathy for a single woman travelling in the desert!this is such a shameful example of Chilean people a man of no virtue,no integrity and no sympathy

Nestled in San Pedro de Atacama, Hostal Montepardo is conveniently situated just 300 meters from the bus station and the craftsmen village, and a mere 900 meters from the city center. This charming hostel exudes tranquility, comfort, and authentic Chilean hospitality. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, around-the-clock reception services, daily room cleaning, and access to laundry facilities.
We stayed here back in September. It is a cute, clean, family owned hostel with incredible staff. The women working at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included and although basic, it is delicious! The woman responsible for cooking was also extremely kind. In terms of location, it is just slightly out of the main centre but Atacama is extremely small and a 10 min walk to the centre was not a big concern for us.

Great and affordable Hostel to stay. Robert and Sonia are always welcome to help you. The room has great space, bathroom is also great. I would just increase the light in the bathroom, since at night it is a little bit dark. I recommended this hostel for long stay as well.

Excellent expérience! The staff are really welcoming. The room is clean and cozy. They also offer free kitchen that you can bring food and cook on your own. Btw, thank you for preparing the rich breakfast every morning! Highly recommend!

This was such a lovely experience. The Hostal is impeccably clean and modern. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful. Rodrigo is kind, helpful and overall, just amazing. He helped us pick our tour companies, gave us suggestions and even ensured that we left the hostal with breakfast for our early trip to Uyuni. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a restful nights sleep before excursions. Truly the best San Pedro has to offer.

Amazing experience at this hostal (hotel really). Thanks to Nicolas for all the help and Mary for preparing the best breakfasts. The rooms are brand new, huge bed, super clean and nice private bathroom. Everyday the room was clean and the bed done, like in a hotel. They provide with free bicycles to go to the city, even though is only 10 minutes walk. The breakfast (included) was very good, selection of meats, cheese, eggs, cereal, fresh strawberry juice, flavored water, tea, coffee, even pancakes with dolce de leche. 15 out 10 for this place. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends. Well done.

My favorite hostel during the trip to Chile! It’s in the off-beaten track of downtown San Pedro de Atacama, but within a walkable distance. The soft decors are cozy, unique and adorable. Hosts Leo and Rodrigo are very nice and helpful. They toured us around the hostel and helped us sign up the tours. There is also a young lady who was preparing breakfast for us every day. She did a great job and made very tasty Nutella crepes.
Doraemon — Google review
Nice room, especially the bed was really comfy. But unfortunately it was very dark in the room, there is only one small window facing the wall. Long waiting time for hot water in the shower. Very limited breakfast. You could try to offer more options and normal coffee insted of instant for 90$/per night.

The Hostal should be called a Hotel actually it’s a lovely calm place. Not in the middle of town, but therefore calm and there is bikes to use for free. Camilla was very helpful with booking tours and she had some of the best prices I found with quality tour agencies.

Nestled around 8.3 km from Piedra del Coyote, Hostal Illari offers cozy accommodation with a view of the inner courtyard and a patio. The property provides a sun terrace and luggage storage for guests' convenience. Visitors can savor a generous continental breakfast during their stay. Victor, the hospitable owner, goes above and beyond to ensure guests have an exceptional experience by offering helpful recommendations for tours, dining spots, and even providing early morning snacks for tours.
We lived at Hostal Illari for 4 days. The host, Victor, is always ready to help and friendly! A nice base for tours out in Atacama.

Simple, cozy accommodations. Our family of five stayed here for one night. Victor was so welcoming and helpful, speaks great English as well! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Shower temperatures were good but water pressure could’ve been stronger. Our room had a small kitchen as well, we didn’t need it but I imagine it’d be useful for longer visits. Wifi connection was decent. We had to leave early the next morning so couldn’t stay for breakfast, but they prepared some food and drinks for us to go, and we were able to make coffee and cereal in the kitchen before we left as well. Good location!

Standard guesthouse a little far from town. Nice staff with whom you can book tours. It's a small guest house with no facilities except free water and coffee. Our room and bathroom was ok, pretty standard / basic Location is 5 minutes walk to bus station but about 20 minutes to town. Corner shop nearby and I think a cafe next door, otherwise you need to go to town for food. OK place for a couple of days overall

I stayed here for 5 nights. Accomodations were comfortable, the staff were very helpful, and the price was good. Approximately a 15 minute walk from the center of San Pedro, but there are several restaurants and corner stores within 5 minutes. They also have a tour guiding company which offers a wide variety of tours (I didn't take any but I saw them while I was visiting Tatio and the Altiplano lakes and everyone looked to be having a good time).

(Translated by Google) I stayed there for four days and found everything incredible. It's definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Vitor, the host, is wonderful. I booked all my tours with him, and the price was much more affordable than other agencies. All of my tours were incredible. I lost my passport during the trip, and he helped me immensely. I will be forever grateful for his willingness and attentiveness. When the tours were very early, Vitor prepared a wonderful snack. The rooms are clean and cozy in the cold, the breakfast is delicious, and Cielo, the hostel's dog, is a special gift for guests. They have a laundry service, which is essential for those traveling to Atacama and Salar de Uyuni. They take great care of everything, and the clothes came back smelling fresh and clean. I will definitely stay there again and recommend it to my friends. A unique hostel with wonderful service. Great place to stay, hot showers, clean toilets, decent wifi in reception area. Very friendly and helpful staff, five minutes walk to centre of town. We stayed three nights and was a great base to drive out to all the sights nearby.

The camping was lovely, the owners were friendly enough. The showers and toilets super clean. Also, we were delighted to have access to a lovely kitchen and eating area. Unfortunately, the site is just down the road from an illegal rave, so from 12.30am until 5am, loud people were walking up and down the road right next to the camping, and the music and noise kept me up all night for the 2 nights we stayed there.
Isabelle P — Google review
Me and my friend stayed here and it was a lovely location for the sky but that was all! People were in and out just like the wifi! One of the staff This short dark haired receptionist wasn't interested in helping us with our tours, she was only interested in smoking and playing in her phone when ever I saw her! So we had to book with another agency:( there loss. There was a lot of noise at night! But the breakfast was nice and being able to be outside to see the sky was incredible. But there are plenty of hostels to stay at in San Pedro that offer way more and are managed better. You definitely need a new receptionist and tour manager because she is unmotivated and rude. But a lovely location with a bit of noise. But if hadn’t been for those few things and your receptionist you would have an amazing place! and make more money :)
Aaron C — Google review
Ok hostel for one night. Dark 6 bed dorm rooms, only one flickering light. Bathrooms were decent. Clean but never had any toilet roll. Nice complimentary body wash. Breakfast looked nice but found out you had to pay for it. Most hostel give a complementary breakfast, even if it’s just bread and butter.. slightly disappointing. When dealing with payment, they don’t accept card. Strictly cash and didn’t have any sort of change so you had to have exact money. If you’re only accepting cash, as a business.. have change! Had a nice tv area and good channels to just chill out. The hostel is a little out the way but this means you can see the beautiful stars as there is no street lights etc ruining it. Would stay again but only because of the night sky.

Clean, spacious and comfortable stay in San Pedro. The staff member who checked us in was super lovely and helpful. The common spaces were really nice, however the dorms were quite basic for the price. The Wi-Fi was also maddeningly slow.

Really nice place at the end of the road and therefore a bit more quiet. We stayed with our Jeep with a rooftop tent and it was superb. Other motor homes were there too and approx 10-15 tests fit on the campground. Staff is really friendly. You can spend easily a day in the hammock when the sun gets too tough. They also offer tours but we didn’t use their offer. Kitchen is clean and well equipped. Would absolutely go there again!

Good hostel with best rates for double rooms in San Pedro. Bathrooms (4) were very clean and while our stay enough for the people staying there. Maybe the kitchen could be renewed with new equipment, but in the end the usage was no problem. The garden was really nice to hang out. Overall good experience, would definetely come back.

There is a lot of space to rest - two huge gardens. Personel is really nice. Internet works very well. Room was clean. We spent here a few days and personel cleaned up common space every day. There is a kitchen available. Water in the showers was hot.

Best hostel in Atacama where you can have the cheapest room ! 20.000 chilenos for 2 people with baños compartidos . The garden is quiet and we were able to cook with the free access To the kitchen and eat outside in the garden. The cats Will probably ask you for a bit of your lunch ! And there is a french Bakery in san pedro for your perfect breakfast . The only bad point is that it is prohibited To wash your clothes because they want you To pay the service of washing laundery at 2.000 chilenos per kilo .

My advice: do not stay in Edén Atacameño! I don't even know how to start my review for this place - it is probably the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. Rooms are filthy, sheets are not cleaned between customers (actually they smell like they haven't been cleaned for weeks), the staff is rude, the kitchen is dirty and a total mess, spiders in the rooms, ants in the bathrooms, very very thin walls that make you hear everything your neighbours say or do, old spring mattresses from another age... Also they charge extra if you come with an online reservation (I know online bookings involve a fee for the accommodation but I had never seen anybody who passed it onto the clients). We booked here because we read some good reviews before but I sincerely don't know where they come from.

This inviting guesthouse features warm rooms that exude style and comfort, complete with modern amenities like powerful fans and private terraces. Guests can unwind by the outdoor pool or stroll through the lush garden adorned with ancient trees, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation after desert adventures.
After having been quite on a rush through Bolivia and coming from a four day trip in the salt dessert, we needed to relax a bit in San Pedro. This was the perfect spot for us so that we even prolonged two times a night. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was well equipped and staff friendly. Would go there again!

The best decision we made during our trip to Atacama was stay at Casa Solcor! We absolutely loved our room, everything was so warm and comfortable, amazing showers and heated floors. The location was great, everyone that worked there provided such great service, and we absolutely loved their breakfast! Would love to stay here again on our next trip.

Wow! This place was the accommodation highlight of our time in the desert! My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Casa Solcor, and it was a truly restful experience. This boutique hotel provided a serene and intimate atmosphere, with beautifully maintained gardens and an inviting pool (two actually) that we enjoyed together. The staff offered personalized service, making our stay truly memorable. They even made a fuss of it being our honeymoon with a bottle and hot tub one night so we could star gaze! The included breakfast was delightful, with a variety of options to start each day. This place is located just a short walk from the town center, and they have bikes you can borrow for free which is brilliant. Casa Solcor is perfect for couples seeking comfort and tranquility amidst the stunning landscapes of the Atacama. We highly recommend it for its quality and romantic ambiance!

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The rooms and hotel is well designed. But the real clincher is the ridiculously excellent service. Victor (who is amazing), Carla, Paola, and Kelly provided an unsurpassable level of service. In addition to the free breakfast (which they customize to taste), they provide tours of the area, which are very good (ask for Erich as a tour guide). When they found out about a food allergy, they even changed the boxed lunches for the tour that I was taking with them.
Moin Y — Google review
I have no idea why this only has a 4.8. Five star property across the board. This is a tranquil oasis on the edge of San Pedro - an easy walk or bike ride (they provide) into town. From the minute we walked inside, the service was impeccable. Thee breakfast is outstanding. It's a perfect place for family or couples. There is no other place we would stay when we go back to San Pedro.
Derek P — Google review
Casa Solcor exceeded all expectations! If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. The service was truly impeccable. Our highlights included a generous complimentary room upgrade to be near our friends celebrating a birthday, a miraculously quick arrangement of birthday candles for a breakfast surprise (despite our late notice!), and incredibly kind hospitality after a multi-day tour – they allowed us to use the pool and facilities, providing a changing room and storing our luggage even without a new booking. The driver arranged by Casa Solcor for our transfer to Calama was also exceptional, accommodating last-minute changes and making the journey a pleasure. Beyond the outstanding service, the hotel boasts beautiful decor, incredibly comfortable rooms, and thoughtful amenities like complimentary all-day snacks and a fully equipped guest kitchen. Casa Solcor offers an unforgettable and truly exceptional experience.

Just few minutes walk from the city centre. Very beautiful rooms and shared spaces, complementary snack and beverage all day long and complementary use of washing machine (very usefull in San Pedro). Delicious breakfast and staff is great! Super recommended
Luca A — Google review
We stayed here for 3 nights. It’s a lovely boutique hotel that has been recently renovated but there were unfortunately numerous issues. Positive: nicely designed rooms and outdoor areas with two pools; free washing machines and detergent; free fruit, yoghurts, cereal and juices all day; large and varied breakfast; quieter location outside of town (conversely a 15-20 min walk along dusty roads), small gated car park area. Negative: rooms already feel tired and small, they are not soundproof, the staff at breakfast look very unmotivated (the ladies ignore you for a while, then finally ask you if you want eggs, otherwise they stand around looking miserable on their phones and make guests feel unwelcome), the other staff seemed unmotivated and appeared to spend more time gossiping with each other than serving guests (EXCEPT for Victor who was amazing and seemed to do just about everything!); the shared kitchen areas, messy reception desk and crowded spaces made it feel a bit more like a hostel, whereas we were expecting more of a high end boutique feel given the high prices! This hotel has a lot of potential - if the staff get better training and become more professional then that would make a big difference.

Spent one night in Atacama Tatais The hostel is very pretty on the first look, but came with sole problems. Good are the common area and kitchen which both are spacious and well equipped. Not so good were the really ugly dorms, that felt like sleeping in a garage, the always kinda dirty toilets and showers and the not working WiFi The hostel is not cheaper than the other well reviewed places in down and it’s location is mediocre at best I would go with another choice as San Pedro offers so many options!

If you're looking for a cozy retreat in San Pedro de Atacama, look no further than Hostal Iquisa. This charming hostel offers some of the most affordable private rooms in the area, perfect for couples seeking a bit of romance away from the bustling dorm scene. Just a short 10 to 15-minute stroll from the town center, it provides clean accommodations and friendly staff who are always ready to assist you.
Nice stay - lovely private room with very nice shower. Friendly helpful staff, and 15 mins walk from town center. Although hostel was very quiet during our stay. Nice if you want quiet time but not if you want to meet other travelers. Town is very expensive, and so helpfully they have a kitchen, although we didn't have a chance to use it.

I stayed in this place for 4 nights. The price its very affordable, 15 min by foot from the center. The family its extremely nice and helpful. The negatives things that I could say its that the kitchen its no really clean so we were not confortable while cooking. You also need to ask for the swimming pool as nothing indicate there is one in the hotel. The rooms are correct and simple. And the court its really nice with the 2 hamacs in there. I would definitely recommend it but with more amelioration.

Located in San Pedro De Atacama, Hostal Copart offers a convenient and friendly stay for travelers. The hostel is situated near popular attractions such as the Meteorite Museum, Altiplanic Lagoons, and Church of San Pedro de Atacama. Guests can expect clean and cheerfully decorated rooms with comfortable beds and modern amenities like WiFi. The common areas provide a cozy atmosphere for socializing with other guests. Additionally, the on-site restaurant serves delicious meals throughout the day.
One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at! The staff at Hostal Copart are truly amazing — kind, helpful, and they went above and beyond by heating water every night for my hot water bottle (yes, really!). The vibe is just perfect, especially thanks to Roots, the cozy coffee shop inside the hostel. Great coffee, delicious breakfast, and the best part? Sipping your morning brew while jazz music plays in the background. Pure pleasure. I absolutely loved my stay here — if I could give 6 stars, I would. Highly recommended!

Very friendly staff, cozy room and great breakfast. There's free water and tea available all day. Only complaint is that it's attached to the cafe, and you have to walk past the outdoor seating area to the bathrooms, which are shared with the cafe guests. Not very pleasant walking past the diners in your pajamas after showering at night.

We booked an entire 4 bedroom suite which allowed us to have privacy. This hostal is right in the centre of all that’s happening in Atacama, 3 mins from the Main Street. The staff is amazing and they will happily assist you with any special arrangements.

This place was super good. Great location in the center of town. It was in walking distance of everything. They had a fantastic breakfast, plenty of showers, great wifi, comfy beds. It was great. I would certainly stay here again if I were in San Pedro!

The hostel is located close to the main street, and the staffs are friendly to help. The breakfast included is rich, and it's also okay to ask for a lunch box if leaving early for a tour.

This is the best place in town to stay. The staff are so helpful and kind, which really makes the world of difference when you are travelling solo. I especially want to say thank you to Mauru, who helped me so so much when i was in San Pedro - I was sick, and I don't know what I would have done without all of his help. Also thank you so much to Thais and Catarina - who gave me cocoa tea and took me to the hospital <3

Very friendly hostel just a block off Caracoles so convenient to everything. Room was very clean, cheerfully decorated, and shower had great pressure and lots of hot water. Of our two beds, one was very comfortable but the other had a bit of a ridge in the middle. Plenty of outlets and even charger outlets next to the shelf beside the beds. Wifi worked well. Common areas are comfortable and great for socializing with others. Our fellow guests were thoughtful, and so there was minimal noise after 10pm. Staff were fabulous. Always cheerful and friendly and happy to help. We loved you all but especially Gabi and Mano. Breakfasts were wonderful with eggs your way, great home made bread, yoghurt with fruit and good coffee, and if you leave early, you can get a to go bag with a sandwich, fruit and a juice box. We loved our 4 day stay there.

It is horribly noisy. I travelled across 3 continents to reach San Pedro and I couldn't have a few hours of rest. The hostel is connected with a cafe where there's always music, day and night (until late), always people walking in and out. The rooms aren't isolated at all, there's space under the door so the noise from the outside is the same inside. And most of the tours in San Pedro start very early, even at 4-5 in the morning, so one needs to rest properly at night. First night I had a private room, for the second night I had a shared room. In both I would say that they are lacking cleanliness, poorly maintained, the walls were dirty. The common toilets (for the shared rooms) were not cleaned for one day and one night, the trash was still there, hair in the showers and in the sinks. The shared room is super small, we were 4 and barely could fit our bags inside. The breakfast is super basic, a small portion of eggs, 2 slices of bread, a small bowl of yoghurt with some slices of fruits. Also, they pretend to be sustainable, to reduce the water usage because it's a desert area (idea which I love and support) but when I asked to use the same towel two consecutive nights I was told that I need to pay for a new one (following te policy of the shared rooms). Which didn't make any sense if they are so sustainable. On the other side, the staff is very nice, very helpful and always available. Despite of several issues with the rooms, the lady at reception tried her best to solve them, to find solutions and to accommodate my needs. The location is great, super central, 10 minutes walk from mostly everything in San Pedro. The private room had a nice layout.

Hostal Purilackti exceeded expectations, with Pablo providing excellent assistance and making guests feel secure and at ease. The place is simple yet impeccably clean, offering a well-equipped shared kitchen. Guests can enjoy comfortable beds, hot showers, and complimentary amenities like drinking water, coffee, and tea. Located in the center of San Pedro, this hostel provides everything needed for a pleasant stay. Pablo's attentive nature and willingness to offer guidance make for an exceptional experience.
Everything was so perfect during my stay that i extended from 3 nights to 6 nights. Very clean and well equipped kitchen, comfortable and clean beds, awesome hot showers, bikes available for use. Drinking water, coffee and tea available for free. All for a very fair price. Also, Pablo let me check in early as I arrived in the morning, and has good recommendations of where to go (and where not to). He is also very friendly and welcoming, and always willing to help you if you have any problems. The location is in town, but in a quiet area so that it is peaceful at night.

This is a great place, the owner is amazing, he’s really helpful and did so much to help make our stay great. My partner forgot his winter coat at home, we had the geysers tour the morning after we arrived and he offered to lend my partner his own coat so he wouldn’t freeze! On top of that he let us store our bags there after we checked out, even though we came back about an hour after we checked out and asked if we could store them there! On top of that he was always really attentive every time we saw him

Pablo is a true caretaker, and I can prove: - he lends bikes for a city tour, with all the gears required. - even if you have to move in another hostel due to misplanning, he gives you medicine for diarhea - he has a water supply and a self service coffee, even though it's not included Totally recomend him for people who wants to make friends along the way and travel on the budget. It's the true example of the brillant basics.

Hostal Casa Colque is conveniently located near El Loa airport, just 105 km away. Situated less than 1 km from the city center of San Pedro de Atacama, this hostel offers easy access to popular dining spots like Primos Food Truck and Cafe El Diablito. Guests praise the attentive staff and specially made gluten-free breakfast. The rooms are clean and spacious with warm showers, making for a comfortable stay in a quiet area.
Really attentive staff, with a specially made gluten free breakfast provided. Rooms were clean, shower was warm, nice and quiet area, decent sized rooms. Not the most central hostel but everything is within a short walk. Overall good value for money. Only frustration was not being able to get into the building to check in for around an hour during a sandstorm. Had to message the hostal and then wait for someone to come to let us in. All worked out fine in the end but was stressful at the time.

The room was hot, with no air conditioning, very basic, even the lamps didn't work, and there were also problems with the toilet, which caused the bathroom to flood. The plumber arrived to check the problem while we were sleeping. Unfriendly staff; no one was there when we arrived, and they weren't clear about prices or services. The only good thing was the location, but we don't recommend it; it's better to pay more for something better. Nestled in the heart of San Pedro de Atacama, CASA TINY offers a delightful retreat for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. Just a short stroll from local attractions like the Meteorite Museum, this charming hostel features a summer terrace and picnic area perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. Guests can enjoy the fully equipped kitchen and spacious outdoor spaces that provide shade during those warm afternoons. The cleanliness of CASA TINY is commendable, ensuring a pleasant stay without any wait times for bathrooms.
Checked in here with no reservation after another hostel in the town cancelled our booking at the last minute. The rooms are decent, has a fully equipped kitchen to cook and a spacious outdoor area to relax in the shade during the hot afternoons. We never had to wait for a bathroom to become available. The place is also kept completely spotless. Only downside to note is it’s around a 15min walk to the centre. Despite this I highly recommend

Very lovely and cozy home. Super friendly and supportive host who takes great care of the needs of his guests and keeps the premises very clean! We needed a parking for our rental car. Wrongly informed by a booking platform, we assumed the hostel has a parking, which is wrong. The owner checked with his neighbors, arranged us a parking and let us in/out at avery time, day or night. The equipment of the place is rather on the basic side: there are no hooks for towels or jackets in the rooms nor anything to put your luggage on. AC is in-room ventiltion only, not a real AC. Bathrooms are ok (clean, as mentioned), but small (no palce to put your clothes while showering), sometimes lacking toilet paper and showers are tricky to operate if you want them to be hot. All in all, we can highly recommend the place, it is great value for money, especially when on a budget and you're cool with a little less comfort.

As this is the last day of my holiday, I can officially declare this was the worst hotel we visited. It is not tiny at all: quite some rooms but not enough bathrooms for them. Wifi did not work, very small kitchen, too expensive for location, no water several times for several hours, and the owner was unpleasant, getting incredibly angry at a Chinese man who had missed the Spanish note that he was not allowed to wash some clothes. The patio was kind of pleasant, but this definitely did not make up for the other stuff. Added after the reply of the owner: of course he is very right that there are people who only look for the negative, but I had a very pleasant trip in Chile - see all other reviews with all 4 or 5 stars - with this hotel as the exception.

Hostal Anpaymi Atacama, a 3-star accommodation, is conveniently situated just a short walk from Valle Arcoiris and San Pedro Church. Guests have praised the friendly and helpful staff who provide valuable advice on local activities and dining options. The location is safe and perfect for exploring the city, with free enclosed parking available. The hostel offers clean and comfortable rooms, along with a kitchen for guests' use. Additionally, there's a paid laundry service on-site.
Highly recommend staying at Hostal Anpaymi for your stay in San Pedro de Atacama! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with open arms by the owner and her adorable doggo, Nube. The room and common areas were clean and well maintained. The owner and staff were around and attentive for any issues that arrived. Despite the heat, my room remained cool throughout the day. The little extra things made my experience 10/10 like providing a pool towel for my trip to the lagoons, food recommendations, earplugs at the bedside, providing insight about what clothing to bring for each excursion, and being available at all hours (including a 5am pickup and a 12am drop off). The hostal is a bit off the main road (approx 10 minute walk from the central square), but has many restaurants and kiosks right next door. Wifi worked well, shower pressure was great, water was a perfect temperature, and a strong fan is provided in the room in case it gets too warm. Thank you Hostal Anpaymi Atacama for the great stay!

Juriques Hostal is a 2-star accommodation located just a short drive from the center of San Pedro de Atacama. Guests can expect basic yet clean rooms, well-maintained showers and toilets with solar heating providing hot water between 9am and 9pm. The small but well-equipped kitchen adds to the convenience, while all facilities are in good working order. Despite being slightly further from the center, this hostel offers great value for money compared to other options in the area.
I stayed in this hostel in 2004-2005 and it was a great place. On that time was not part of the hostel world or other other travel guides, it was an anonymous hostel in San Pedro. I arrived from Bolivia and I noticed that the bus to Argentina had left on the day before and it was necessary wait 4 days for the next one... I thought that 4 days in San Pedro could be a lost of time and on the first night I stayed in other hostel in San Pedro on the center (recommended by hostel world, guides, bla, bla, bla) to try get a ticket to other place on the next day, including return by Bolivia to Argentina again. However on the last minute we changed plans and we contacted on that time Francisco, a guy from Santiago that had tried pick us on the day before to Jurike Hostal. SO, we styed in the hostal 3-4 days and it was amazing, sandboard, bikes, BBQ in the hostel and in the lagunas, football game with locals, drinks, lots of funny people, etc. As I said in 2004 it was a very good experience and if the staff still the same or similar, definitely I recommend

Surprisingly nice hostel. Good price, a little out of centre but not too far either. Good atmosphere. Bathrooms are not so good, but they do the job somehow... Hot showers only during day time, since it's with a sun heating (which we should absolutely support). Cats are cool :) everyone kinda lives outside at the tables, so it's very nice to meet new people.

San Pedro is very expensive. The more we were thankful to find these hostel. We stayed in a 4 bed doorm. The room was basic but clean. So were the showers and the toilet. The showers are hot between 9am and 9pm because of solar heating. Kitchen is a bit small but well equipped. One of the most important things in south america: all facilities worked in a proper way! You can see that the hostel was built and create with love. The houses are painted with lots of nice colours showing some sagas from the native people. They have hammocks and enough tables and chairs to sit down, eat and relax. It was a nice stay for us and we definatly recommend.

Sheets are clean and the 12 people dorm is rather spacious. Showers are only hot during the day because of solar power. Kitchen is small but good enough for boiling water or pasta. 5min walk to city centre.
Jonas S — Google review
Ok hostel, double rooms were nice. Price is reasonable for San Pedro de Atacama but expensive for other south american countries. Showers were warm enough and fairly clean, toilets are super small and a bit of squeeze to sit on if your tall at all. Also the WiFi is essentially nonexistent and does not work anywhere...unless maybe everyone else is asleep and not using it. Slight problem that after confirming we could extend for a night in the same room we were told fairly late in the evening that the only room they had was a single room. This room had a tree in the middle of it. Couldn't find anywhere last minute due to lack of WiFi. Room was ok, maybe not for two. Major issue with the fact that they have kittens living on the roof of one side of the hostel. Roof is corrugated iron, kittens like playing all night long. So very little sleep.
Niamh O — Google review
We received a flyer from one of the staff right when we got out of the bus from Bolivia. We usually don't trust these types of approach, but rapidly after our usual "hostel hunt", we understood that this hostel was a real bargain! Eventhough it is a little bit further from the center than most hostels we had found, it is totally worth it. It's a (just) a little bit more expensive than the campings we've found but way more comfortable! We particularly enjoyed the courtyard with the hammocks and the multiple tables to sit down at. We've also booked an excursions at the Valle de la Luz and got a discount to rent bicycles close-by. You can go for it!

When I arrived with my confirmed booking reference I was told they were full. The owner offered to move me to another hostel he owned nearer the center. Then he promptly drove off without me. The new hostel, 420 hostal, was unfinished. No lighting in the dorm, two power sockets for eight beds, carpentry on the windows and doors was poor so they didn't open properly. I was told there would be WiFi, there wasn't. There were no lockers. The stink of weed at reception was overbearing, the receptionist had a pair of knuckledusters and a butterfly knife lying around quite casually. All running water shut off between 2200-0700, including toilets. The positives were a clean and comfortable mattress and bed. But I suspect once they actually open and these get some usage it will not last. I got a refund after one night and moved on to a far superior hostel that I am so much happier with. When I tried to check out there was no one at reception, I was forced to bang on doors until the receptionist (who had been partying all night in the bar next door) woke up. I wish I could give this 0 stars, there was not a single part of my stay here that was enjoyable. EDIT: The owner's response sums up the total lack of customer service. The room and front door keys did not work when they were handed to me, they were poorly cut and even the staff could not get them to work. I've also attached a picture of the drug paraphernalia left in open view at reception.

It's a lovely hostel with a good atmosphere and quiet environment. The staff is friendly, there is clean water to drink, fully equipped kitchen, hot water in the shower. It's about 15mins walk to the centre.

I loved the hostel! Very clean, super nice staff and great surrounding. Not in the middle of the center which I really enjoyed because you avoid the crowded main streets a bit. You can book tours over the hostel which is pretty chill. 100% recommendation

If I’m not mistaken the hostel is now called Rafa’s House. The place itself was great with cozy beds and relaxed people. However, what I don’t quite understand is why one needs to pretend that paying by card is not possible even though the device for it is there. The guy was simply too lazy to set it up. This can be a bit of a burden when most ATMs in the city don’t work. All in all I can recommend this place!

Brilliant hostel... defo recommend. The staff are massively helpful, you can book everything you need here. Vibe was cool, BBQ's in the evening, beers etc or if you just want to chill a massive room with PS and Netflix 😁😁

Diablito Atacama Hostel is a charming accommodation located within a short distance from Aldea de Tulor and Yerbas Buenas Petroglyphs. The rooms are described as nice, cozy, and comfortable with impeccable interior bathrooms providing hot water. Guests have praised the friendly hosts for their excellent hospitality. The hostel's proximity to the main street, good WiFi connection, and peaceful atmosphere make it an ideal place to stay in San Pedro.
I just wrote a review for the owner's cafe (also Diablito), because I love what the owner does so much. His generosity, attention to detail, and artistic sense really made our stay more than what we expected. The rooms are clean with hot showers, and the hostel staff were really warm and responsive.

It was good experience, and people and staff are very helpful and will listen and understand your problem and trying to solve it. And also it is near central of city and near bus terminal so you can consider for stay.
