Ramen restaurant
Takeout Restaurant
Ramen Danbo, a beloved international chain with locations in Vancouver, Seattle, and New York, is known for serving traditional Fukuoka-style Kyushu Hakata Tonkotsu ramen. The restaurant's popularity is evident from the long queues outside its doors. What sets Ramen Danbo apart is its customizable options, allowing patrons to tailor their dining experience to their preferences.
Danbo is definitely one of the best restaurants for me. Their sauce—the broth they use—is very good, it has a lot of umami, and it's impressive how they manage to maintain the quality. I went several times and loved it! I really like the menu (set daily menu) where you can add gyozas, eggs etc. It's totally worth it, the price is great, and the service is very good.
Thamy S — Google review
First time to come here because we are from Calgary. Highly recommended by a family friend. Had to wait in line for at least 30 minutes, but it was all worth it. The Ramen was sooo good - broth was creamy, and the noodles was just right. Also ordered some gyoza on the side - very tasty too. Will definitely come back here, on our next vacation.
Raul H — Google review
Food is worth waiting half an hour for! The ramen broth is divine, but the takana donburi didn't sit well with my taste buds - too much ginger for me. The atmosphere is quaint and intimate and the service is prompt. I will definitely be back again and wait for 30 to 45 mins to try the ramen and maybe the gyoza too.
Samie A — Google review
Finally... this is far better than all of the Ramen i had in Vancouver. What i like about this place is you can customize your ramen or broth, i choose all standard and it was good, may be i should have asked for more rich broth.. well save it for next time. Extra bit of karadare is 0.50 if you ask after the meal. With eggs, nori, extra meat the cost goes to about 19$ which is not bad given the taste. The time i went didnt have any queue. Straight in.
Suman B — Google review
We didn’t manage to try this place in Japan, so why not when in Canada? Nice ramen, not mind blowing but it goes to preferences. The broth was tasty and not too rich. We had tonkotsu with shoyu and miso, both tasty. The bowl of food is cheap, but if you want the eggs and the wood ear mushrooms or the cabbage are all adds on. The jammy egg was pretty tasty, the think noodles are not my favourite but wanted to try the standard version. I like my noodles more chewy. We also had the gyoza, pretty tasty (bear in mind they contains dairy, so the waitress said). The queue in the video is about 40 min wait. This was at 1pm on a Sunday.
Andrea M — Google review
We got here 10 mins before opening and there was already a queue forming. Soon enough it was evident why!!! The food and experience was just perfect. Possibly the best Ramen I’ve ever had. Very organised and explanatory paper forms and online menus helped tailor your Ramen bowl to your exact tastes with enough variation to keep you happy! Must visit!
David A — Google review
My favourite restaurant in Vancouver! I get the Shio ramen every time, and it’s delicious. This is my go-to ramen restaurant. The broth is amazing, light and flavourful, with tender meat and springy noodles. You get to choose custom settings for noodle thickness, firmness, broth thickness, etc. I personally found the classic ramen broth a little salty and thick the last time I tried it, but I also have a preference for lighter broths in general. Save some broth and order “kaedama” for a cheap noodle top-up!
Amy — Google review
The taste of Ramen is as wonderful as always. Luckily we didn’t have to wait in the line for long, but our food took a lil longer to arrive. Couldn’t take a before picture as we were starving and the food is too amazing to wait. Highly recommend!

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a popular Japanese noodle restaurant known for its specialty in pork bone broth ramen. Originating in the 1980s, it was founded with the goal of creating delicious ramen, and their signature dish, the shio ramen, remains a cult favorite. The creamy and flavorful broth, perfect noodles, and melt-in-your-mouth chashu make it a top choice for many.
Enjoyed the limited time black garlic ramen and it was one of the best ramens I’ve ever had. Fast service and amazing flavour! Also recommend the Japanese cream soda.
Jacob K — Google review
Santouka Ramen is a popular Japanese ramen restaurant chain known for its signature shio (salt) ramen, which features a rich, silky, white tonkotsu (pork bone) broth. Originating in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan, in 1988, Santouka has expanded to numerous locations both in Japan and internationally. The restaurant is recognized for its mild-flavored, flavorful broth, and the addition of a small, pickled plum as a signature topping. While they offer other varieties like shoyu (soy sauce) and miso ramen, the shio ramen is their most famous and beloved dish. The broth is made from pork bones, creating a rich, creamy, and flavorful base. I loved the Tonkotsu broth. Overall this place has fantastic quality ramen.
Eddy W — Google review
Absolutely delicious, ordered Miso Ramen with ajitama and Takoyaki for takeout, the tonkotsu broth is rich and warming, noodles have perfect chew texture and the pork is succulent. Takoyaki’s perfect crisp and chew as well.
Ashley B — Google review
Delicious Shio tonkotsu ramen always tastes perfect. It’s aromatic sesame taste with its signature shio (salt) is so addictive. The Hojicha Pudding was really creamy with strong tea flavour - perfect treat for summer. New Tomato & Mozzarella ramen is so good! The flavour is really addictive and savoury, it’s reminiscent of a cioppino (Italian seafood stew) just without the seafood part.
Karen L — Google review
Most definitely coming back here. Small, intimate ramen spot, perfect on a cold rainy day. Some of the nicest workers I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. So welcoming and attentive. The ramen was unreal.
Josh H — Google review
I tried regular miso broth at Broadway location and it was amazing. However, the Tantan mazesoba is disappointing. Minced pork is too sweet, almost no umami taste.
Florence D — Google review
My fav ramen place and I love to order combo ramen & rice bowl with salmon roe topping. Dont have to wait and line up so long while I hungry & eat rush.New tantan ramen flavor so yummy
Jamie L — Google review
This was the best Ramen I’ve ever had and I live in SF where there is really delicious Ramen, but this was better. Like soooooo much better than any ramen I’ve ever had. I got the special Tan-Tan Men, it was so smooth, creamy, with a little perfect amount of spicy heat!! Noodles were perfectly cooked. And service was kind, responsive, and exactly what we needed. Thank you for the warm & cozy and delicious evening. If I ever get back to Vancouver this will be my first stop!!

Ramen restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Step into The Ramen Butcher, a cozy and laid-back spot in Vancouver's Chinatown that offers an authentic Hakata Tonkotsu ramen experience. This Japanese-owned eatery has been serving up delectable traditional ramen for nearly a decade, showcasing rich broths and expertly made noodles. As part of a well-known Japanese ramen franchise's first venture into North America, the restaurant features thin noodles in various broth-bowl combinations with slow-cooked pork slices.
I parked out front and man, what a bad ass design. The ramen butcher, with a pigs face. Before walking in I noticed the special on the sign. For people that wear a watch, they get a free mini Curry Don! EUREKA!!!! I have my sport watch on yaaaaaadd!!!. Just wanted to update folks that they have specials from time to time. I enter and was greeted by a nice lady. I was also greeted by the kitchen staff. Love it! I sit down and heard loud rap and hip hop music, loving it more! My server arrives. I told her "the chef in the kitchen can decide for me, chefs choice." she reacted with a smile and said Hai yes ok I will tell the kitchen. My server arrives with the classic ramen, lean pork and fatty pork. Ok here we go first sip of the broth! How did it taste?... My eyes closed... Yes that's right. It's pretty good. Ramen boiled perfectly, pork is excellent, and the egg, gorgeous like the sun... My server returns and does a check up. She then surprises me with a appetizer on the side on the house. She said "since you are the first customer we always offer 3 pieces of gyoza for free." Wow!!! I'm definitely coming again. Now you’re probably thinking how the free mini Curry Don is? I never got the chance to try it because my meal was perfect! I declined it only because I still had to excercise my dogs after. But hey on any other day most likely I would take it with a big grin LOL. Excellent service, bathroom has a check list and it clean! Food? Mine was delicious! Environment is a nice setup! Love it here! Great experience each time! I’ve visited multiple times already!
Eddy W — Google review
$13.50 for a bowl of ramen + free kaedama (extra noodles) is a great deal. Rich broth (Fukuokua style) was good. Chasiu: can taste the charred smoky bbq, is precooked (the extra pieces were cold) and somewhat tough for my liking, egg was done right. Disliked the coloured ginger. Food came quick, though kinda thoughtless when they served the extra noodles in a bowl that wasn’t placed on the tray properly.
Albert L — Google review
Absolutely delicious! The cucumber salad was fresh, the pork bun was incredible, and the coconut curry ramen had the perfect spice with really tasty house-made noodles. I never thought I’d love ramen this much, but this spot changed my mind. Can’t wait to be back!
Laura C — Google review
Ramen butcher has been my go to for ramen the last two years, I love it here. To my surprise, they changed the menu, I miss the basil ramen. But still all their options are excellent 👌🏼 I took my family there and they were very please with the taste. This time the service wasn't great though, even we went on a Saturday around 3pm, not a busy time. I also like this place because is in Chinatown and is easy to find parking around there.
Deborah A — Google review
The food came out really quickly after ordering. Overall, it was okay—not the best ramen I’ve had. I liked the marinated egg, the chewy noodles, and the pork chashu. However, there was a noticeable smell that made the dish less enjoyable. I couldn’t tell if it was coming from the broth or the noodles.
Ems — Google review
We stumbled on this spot accidentally as we were heading to another location and it was worth it! We both ordered the Tsukemen with the 3 pcs gyoza on the side and everything was so flavourful and delicious. This restaurant makes their noodles from scratch which made it all the better. The wait staff was so friendly and attentive. Truly a treat!
Tamara M — Google review
I generally keep my expectations modest when it comes to ramen in Vancouver, but Ramen Butcher exceeded them. The portion size was generous — I had asked for extra noodles but found the regular serving already more than satisfying for an adult. The tsukemen broth was wonderfully rich, layered with deep umami flavors, and the noodles had an excellent chewy texture that paired perfectly with the broth. A well-executed and memorable bowl of ramen — highly recommended.
Lizzie S — Google review
First time to try the Ramen Butcher last weekend, and we definitely had a positive experience! We ordered the Tsukemen, Chashu Bun, and ofc, edamame for appetizers! They were all good! Will definitely be back to try their other dishes!

JINYA Ramen Bar in Vancouver Downtown is a casual Tokyo-founded ramen chain that offers an authentic Japanese dining experience. The restaurant's founder, Tomo Takahashi, brings his passion for traditional ramen to every bowl, with six signature broths simmered for over twenty hours using classic ingredients like bonito and miso. JINYA's housemade noodles and authentic toppings have garnered booming success at its various locations across North America.
We’re visiting from Prince George and this spot blew us away! Started with drinks – I had the Old Fashioned and my friend had the Yuzu Martini, both were top notch. The salmon sushi was amazing, and the fried chicken was perfectly tender and crispy. I’ve never been much of a ramen fan, but this place completely changed my mind – the broth and noodles were spot on, and the portion size was so generous we had to take some to go. Service was outstanding; our server was knowledgeable and made us feel really welcome. Can’t wait to come back next trip!
Deepak R — Google review
Visited Jinya Ramen in downtown Vancouver and had a really good overall experience. The service was excellent — the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcome throughout our meal. The decor is modern, clean, and has a cozy yet lively atmosphere that makes it a nice spot to relax and enjoy a bowl of ramen. I tried the Tofu Curry Tamen, and it was the highlight of the meal. The broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. The tofu was cooked well and soaked up the flavors beautifully. We also ordered a couple of their meat-based ramen options. While the texture of the noodles and toppings were great, the broth on those was a bit too salty for my personal taste — it overpowered some of the other flavors in the bowl. Overall, it’s a great place for ramen lovers, especially if you enjoy bold flavors and a vibrant dining space. I’d definitely return for the Tofu Curry Tamen and to try a few other items on the menu.
Gaurav H — Google review
Food is slightly overpriced for the quantity and quality. I do like their happy hour drinks price, so they got an extra star for that. The broth too was salty and the noodles weren't cooked that well. Other then that, service in general was decent.
Len K — Google review
I always visit Jinya whenever I'm in Vancouver. The food is generally really good. Most recently I ordered Pork Chashu Bowl regular size, and it was delicious. It's decently sized and quite fulfilling for a quick lunch. The service is good, but the atmosphere is just downright annoying. Loud music and the close proximity to other tables are just not comfortable.
Curator T — Google review
(Forgot to take pics before we mixed it) Always an amazing experience at JINYA, hands down the best ramen in town. I’ve yet to find anything that compares! I always go for the spicy chicken ramen, it never disappoints. Also love the free fresh garlic! The atmosphere is great, the vibes are on point, and the staff and service are consistently top-notch. JINYA has truly been a staple for our family.
James G — Google review
Walking by in downtown Vancouver, Jinya caught my eye. Browsed the menu, immediately went inside. The food was excellent, the service top-notch and friendly. Kudos to Light, my server. Excellent experience all-round.
Martin S — Google review
The ramen was authentic, and the gyoza was absolutely delicious made I wanted to order 10 more plates! The service was also excellent. I was really impressed and definitely want to come back again. Great location, beautifully decorated restaurant, and the staff were enthusiastic and attentive
SOFIA — Google review
One of the best Ramen I have had. I always get their Jinya Tonkatsu black! The meat melts in your mouth. You can easily go up to level 6-7 spice. I tried their level 6 spice and it was flavorful with the perfect spice kick.

Kintaro Ramen is a well-known restaurant located in the West End, offering a variety of delicious ramen options in a compact and unpretentious setting. The menu allows customers to customize their ramen experience by choosing the richness of the broth, type of meat, and additional toppings such as garlic balls, kimchi, and cheese. The spicy garlic ramen is highly recommended, while the zenbu ramen includes every topping except butter.
Service here was great server was very nice and knowledgeable about getting us the right order. Really loved the broth it had just the right amount of richness without being too much. Chashu was delicious and so was the egg. Would come back if I were in town again!

Japanese restaurant that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a traditional street-side eatery in Japan. The open kitchen lets you watch as they prepare the ramen and all its toppings right in front of you and the Ramen is so delicious and flavourful. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and they even have a ramen happy hour! I tried a bit of everything and would definitely come back—highly recommended.
Anita A — Google review
Small, low key ramen shop with one of the best ramens that reminds me of Japan. Been going for a number of years for my comfort food when it’s rainy, which happens in Vancouver. There can be a line outside during the summer months.
Kevin M — Google review
My wife and I visited this restaurant today. When we first arrived, the staff seemed a bit unfriendly and asked us to wait outside for a while before being seated. We ordered two bowls of ramen, but the broth was quite greasy with visible chunks of fat, which made it a bit heavy and less enjoyable. Additionally, my wife found a hair in her soup. The server did apologize quickly, but there was no further follow-up after that. Overall, it wasn’t the best experience for us. I hope the restaurant can improve both the service and food quality, and I would suggest diners consider this before visiting.
Monique N — Google review
when u go for a ramen, what do u look for? a soup with depth and body from a broth simmered for HOURS, or onr that just tastes like salt water with no dimension and no flavour at all? because this ones the latter!! lay ur eyes on a ramen that just tastes SO salty u cant even eat it with a soup that just looks like soup but tastes like salt water!!! tho id say their portion on charsiu is better and their takenoko / bamboo shoots are very well marinated, the soup just makes it unbearable to eat... 1/5 as for the spicy garlic ramen it just tasted korean with the flavour of chili powder and garlic only... its also as bland as blanched chicken indeed 1/5 overall 1/5
Hungry D — Google review
My first time attending this restaurant, yes the portions are big but the ramen 🍜 broth is bland, the noodles are to thick and hard, the gyosas were ok, but to be honest one of the most greasy, flavorless and bland ramens I’ve tried in vancouver.
Paulina M — Google review
Probably my least favourite ramen so far. We got the garlic one and the miso ramen. Both were pretty flavourless. Maybe we should have chosen for the soup to be rich instead of just medium? The egg was not good either. It was not soft boiled and tasted off, I didn't even manage to finish the other half. The waitress was friendly, there was no line, and the food came out relatively quickly. Small space but it works well.
Laura Y — Google review
I don’t understand the hype of this place. Just a standard for Japanese ramen (a bit lower for me 😞) I ordered shoyu ramen with BBQ Pork. The soup was just salty and greasy. BBQ Pork was smelly idk why. Don’t wanna say that it’s the worst but I think it will be the last choice of food for me in Vancouver. The staff were nice tho and the atmosphere was just okay. I won’t come back.

Taishoken Ramen is a laid-back eatery in Vancouver's Gastown/Chinatown area, offering traditional Japanese dishes such as pork or chicken noodle soups in a cozy wooden setting. The restaurant is renowned for its unique Tsukemen-style ramen, a creation of the founders, where thick and chewy alkaline-based noodles are served separately from the intensely flavored broth. This dipping ramen allows diners to savor the rich soup without softening the noodles too much.
I'm gonna say this place has the best tomato cheese ramen I've ever had. It always has such a unique taste, and I really love it every time I get to try it. I'm always amazed by how they make it taste so good. Also, Luke is super friendly. I’ve had great conversations with him every time I came. He always asks for your feedbacks and what to add to make it more flavorful. Taishoken will always be the best ramen place in my heart!!
Mina T — Google review
Solid ramen place near international village. Their tsukomen ramen is pretty solid and very flavourful. The pricing is on par with other ramen joints in Vancouver and portions are also similar sized. Taste wise, they are good, the ramen is cooked well, and decent portion of meat included. Overall - solid place for ramen if you are in the area.
Andy C — Google review
This is a great spot for ramen and tsukemen. I’ve been to Taishoken in California, and the tsukemen here has a distinctly different style. The noodles are chewier, and the dipping sauce is richer in flavor. While I personally prefer the one in the U.S., both versions have their own appeal and go in different directions. The ramen is solid, and the service is excellent. Mina, the server, checked in on me several times during my lunch visit, which I appreciated. It’s also less crowded compared to the ramen shops downtown, yet the quality is just as good as those where you’d usually expect to wait in line.

I ordered the Tsukemen Original and it was absolutely fantastic — rich, flavorful broth and perfectly chewy noodles. Easily one of the best tsukemen experiences I've had! Big thanks to the amazing staff — Luke and Mina were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Can’t wait to come back!

Ria was the only waitress working at Taishoken tonight, and she did an amazing job taking care of our orders! I'd suggest the owner to give her a raise! She was really patient, and she explained the menu to us. She also listened to our needs and gave us small bowls for us to share the noodles. The Tsukemen was delicious!! It makes me wanna go to Japan and try the other Taishoken!

This was the best Ramen I’ve had in my life. Everything tasted so flavourful and was cooked perfectly. We got the Okonomi Gyoza as a starter, the Kara Miso Tonkotsu and the Miso Tonkotsu. Portion sizes were generous and price was very fair. The service was fantastic. Very quick and so friendly! Best stop for lunch :)

Japanese restaurant
Ramen Gojiro is a modern eatery that serves up Japanese soups, dumplings, and salads in a simple yet stylish setting. The restaurant is known for its jiro-style ramen, featuring generous portions of noodles and an array of toppings. Each ramen option at Ramen Gojiro comes with a choice of two protein options (fried chicken or marinated pork) and the selection of a rich or light soup base.
we came here last saturday with some friends. we’d just flown in from another city and they wanted us to try some authentic ramen. oh my god, it turned out to be one of the best ramen bowls we’ve ever had. every time the server brought out another dish we were honestly ready to cheer because everything looked incredible. the service was so warm and everyone was super friendly! you just can’t be in a bad mood in that place. such an amazing experience. definitely a must-visit. can’t think of a single bad thing to say. huge thanks and wishing you all the best with your business🤍

Ramen restaurant that serves the thick yellow noodles that I enjoy the most. The broth is rich and creamy, and the fried chicken is delicious, although the skin can be a little bit soggy at times. If you order the bakamori, there is a large portion of beansprouts served on top of your ramen and is a decent portion of food for the price. Currently, the basic ramen for $15.50 is a great deal as well in my opinion. Overall, would recommend if you are interested in checking out a rich creamy broth with thick noodles served with fried chicken.

I finally tried the ramen shop that always has a line out the door, and the experience was a mixed bag. The setting is simple and unadorned—nothing fancy, just a straightforward spot. Service was standard, though the server did greet with a smile. For food, I ordered the Yokohama Iekei ramen along with three pieces of gyoza. Unfortunately, the gyoza were overly greasy and the skin lacked crispness—quite underwhelming. The chashu was also on the heavy side, with nearly two-thirds being fat and only a small portion lean meat. The broth leaned toward the salty and intense side. Overall, these parts felt fairly average. But the ramen noodles themselves were outstanding—possibly the best I’ve had in Vancouver. Thick and chewy with excellent bounce, they soaked up the broth beautifully, delivering flavor in every bite. In summary, it’s worth a try for the noodles alone, but I probably wouldn’t return since the other dishes felt too oily and fatty for my taste.

Ramen Gojiro serves probably the most authentic Jiro-style ramen and Tsukemen in Vancouver. The flavour and noodles are similar to those in Japan, no compromises. We also really like the Crab Tsukemen that’s limited to the Summer Menu. The rich umami broth is infused with the sweetness from the crab and goes incredibly well with the thick Tsukemen noodles. Pro tip: Do ask for their stamp card as you can get free topping for every 5 stamps and a free ramen for every 10 stamps. Stamps are given out when a ramen is ordered per visit. Only 1 stamp is given no matter the number of ramen ordered in a single visit. Still a great bonus!

I found this place because I heard the son of Aoi Budogu (local martial arts supplier that provides our Iaido club a lot of equipment) opened this place. Amazing ramen to stuff our faces after renshu. I ordered the Miso Chashu Bakkamori with rich soup, and surprisingly I was able to finish it (a little uncomfortable, but satisfied. Under the mountain of moyashi was a very healthy portion of ramen noodles. The chashu was massive, like it was cut out of the side of Godzilla. A light sear on the chashu brings a smoky flavour to a very flavourful bowl of ramen. Although the gyoza was sort of an afterthought, it too was well worth the entrance fee. Definitely try the gyoza if you think you can manage finishing that massive bakkamori ramen (or order something with a smaller portion like a normal human being). Actually, the Basic chashu rich ramen was quite filling, and also very tasty. This place is child friendly, adult friendly, and a true testament to some really oishi ramen.

Huge portion and super tasty. I love the little fat pieces in their broth. Soooo goood. The bean sprout also add a nice crunch/texture to the ramen. The place is pretty small though so it can get real toasty inside.

We are visiting from out of town, and decided to go for ramen for dinner. We were passing by and saw a spot with seats available, so popped in. We have three young kids with us, so everything is always more challenging. (Can I give my kids two stars? 😅) The server helped us into the restaurant (we have a big stroller), and the food came out quickly. There is a kids menu with cute cups and plastic Ikea cutlery, so that is ideal! My boys loved their first ramen experience. Thanks!

Ordered the spicy ramen and regular fried rice, along with a regular karaage and panda ice cream (from Mario's Gelati). Of the four items, the chicken karaage was definitely the stand-out. We will certainly be ordering it again in the future! The ice cream was good, but it came with the paper wrapping in the bowl, so that made it a bit more difficult to scoop - the ice cream just kept moving with the paper. The portions were also decent.

Kinton Ramen Robson is a popular spot in Vancouver, especially for students and plant-based eaters due to its variety of vegetarian options. The $12 lunch special is a great deal, and adding extra toppings to the plain ramen is recommended for more flavor. The pork miso ramen is also highly praised. The restaurant offers a free matcha cone for Google reviews. With its modern decor and great service, Kinton Ramen Robson provides a welcoming atmosphere.
Our food was excellent and service was great! Really warm welcome and incredibly efficient. We walked in at jus the right time and were able to get a table right away. My husband loved his cold noodles and the gyoza were some of the best I’ve had. Would definitely return!

Overall, it’s a solid place for getting authentic Japanese food. If you come during the summer, I recommend the combo with original broth ramen + gyozas + a drink for only $15.99. SERVICE: Pretty good. The servers were kind. ATMOSPHERE: It is a pretty small and closed in restaurant. Bonus points for there being an open kitchen, so you can see the chefs make your dish. FOOD: Great! I ordered the original broth with pork and gyozas (the gyoza, original broth ramen, and a drink was a really good deal - only $15.99). My friend ordered the Pork Spicy Garlic. The gyozas were nice and crispy, and the filling was good too. The original broth ramen was also delicious, and the portion size is pretty good. The Pork Spicy Garlic ramen was incredibly flavorful, and the noodles were chewy.

We came to this restaurant after attending a hockey game, as it’s conveniently located nearby. The location is great, and overall, the food was quite good. We decided to order the combo meal, which turned out to be a good value for the price. In addition to that, we also ordered the spicy garlic pork dish. However, we were disappointed to find that it did not come with the egg and seaweed as shown in the photo on the menu. The image was quite misleading and gave us the wrong impression of what to expect. When we brought this up with the female server, she was very dismissive and rude. She didn't take the time to explain the issue or provide any clarification. We also asked a male staff member about the star symbol that appeared next to the item on the menu, hoping for some insight. Unfortunately, he had no idea what it meant and wasn’t able to offer any explanation either. While we did enjoy the food itself, the service was extremely disappointing. The staff, especially the lady who served us, were unhelpful and lacked basic customer service skills. Because of the poor service experience, we’ve decided that we will not be returning to this location in the future.

It was freezing today — the kind of weather that makes you feel ramen was invented just for this moment. So I finally went to try this shop that’s been around for about a year. I saw they had a combo with my all-time favorite, Coke. Didn’t even look at the price — just went “yes please.” Big mistake. The Coke came in a cup, not a can, not a fancy glass bottle — just… a cup. But hey, it still tasted like Coke, so fine. Then came the gyoza — fried but somehow not oily. Crispy, tasty, and honestly the best kind of surprise. You can even pick pork or veggie filling. There was some mysterious sauce drizzled on top — looked suspicious, tasted like nothing, and I still have no clue what it was. But whatever, the gyoza was great, mystery sauce forgiven. For ramen, I went thick noodles (because who eats thin noodles on a cold day?) and picked the spicy garlic flavor. Man, that was good. The broth was rich, the noodles chewy, and the char siu had that perfect fire-kissed smell — not too burnt, just enough to make you feel like you’re at a BBQ in ramen form. Everything was amazing… until the bill came. Add 15% tip, and boom — over thirty bucks. For lunch. That’s a bit steep for a regular weekday lunch.

My first experience with Kinton, a national chain, was back on March 31st when I had what stands to this day as the best Ramen I've ever had. Unfortunately for me, it was a seasonal feature. Fingers crossed it comes back next year and I will salivate in the mean time. It was the Burnt Shoyu Ramen. In June of this year, I decided that I deserved more Ramen and made a weekly routine to go for Ramen on my Friday. Since then, I have returned weekly (missed 1 week cuz vacation). I've endeavored to try a different one every week. I've had the Pork, Chicken, and Beef Original. I've tried the Pork Miso, the Spicy Garlic Chicken (garlic on the side), and the seasonal Chilled Tsukemen. I went with the Spicy Garlic on my second last visit because I kept seeing others order it and was curios why it was seemingly popular. It was the first time I didn't finish the broth as it was too spicy for me. Still very tasty. All have been great, but the Beef Original I had on my most recent visit is definitely my new favorite and I fear I will just have it as a go to and stop trying new items. Variety is the spice (no pun intended) of life! As for the staff, extremely kind, friendly, efficient, respectful, attentive and competent! Keep up the excellent work! Value for your bucks? By far the best in this category! Plus, they have a stamp card, if you ask, which will get you perks. Win Win! Can't wait for my next visit!

Kinton Ramen is a great spot in downtown. We ordered the 4 person combo for $83 and it was almost worth the price. I will say the gyozas, as good as they were, was on the smaller side for 4 people which was unfortunate because they were sooo good. The fries were perfectly crispy, and the ramen itself was really good. I do love spice, so they didn’t have many options to make it spicier, which is fine, i still enjoyed it. I’m a vegetarian and there’s few vegetarian options here and this one was perfect. had 4 different options which i loved. Will be back!

Kinton is solid place to get ramen. I got the sweet and spicy ramen with ground meat for $19.99. It was delicious. Not necessarily authentic, but very tasty nonetheless. Portions are great. If you are in the area and looking to get ramen, check Kinton out. 4/5 for me.

Gyoza Bar is a cozy gem that perfectly captures the essence of Japanese comfort food, making it an ideal retreat during chilly days. With its rustic charm featuring exposed-brick walls and warm lighting, this intimate spot invites you to indulge in delicious dishes like ramen and dumplings. One standout option is their umami shoyu market vegetable bowl, which boasts a rich soy-based broth filled with fresh ingredients like kale, corn, and broccolini.
Great Japanese curry rice at self serve style restaurant. Reminds me of Shokudo in Japan. Definitely recommend beef STEW curry to enjoy the Iwate wagyu beef. Since their focus is on meat not curry, it would be nice to see more variation such as gyusuji (tendon) and gyutan (tongue) curry. All the toppings we tried were decent. Also liked they come in 3 different sizes. (Pictures were large, mid, and small in that order. Only the small is the stew.) Take home currypan and serfserve fukujinzuke were added plus! My only gripe is their Mon-Fri 12-5 hours.

WA! CURRY (Downtown) **NEWish Restaurant Alert!** 8 Overall 8.7 Food Quality 8 Dining Atmosphere 9 Service 6.5 Value This place opened up a couple of months ago and is part of the ABURI group, most known for Miku and Minami! Anyways, love Japanese curry, so I HAD to try this place! Service was pretty fast. You order on your phone and I had my food within 5minutes. WAGYU CURRY WITH PORK KATSU $21 Wagyu beef curry gravy, green onions, served over steamed rice and deep fried pork cutlet. Overall it was pretty good, but the Wagyu part is a gimmick. There was no part of it that I really tasted any Wagyu. To be completely honest, I do think I’ve had better Japanese Curry from Takeya Sushi, and the Poke Man. Not saying this curry was bad, but I don’t think it’s the best in Vancouver. Pork was amazing! Overall it was a great dish! 8.7/10

This place used to be Ramen Gyoza, that became a victim of the pandemic shutdown and the deterioration of downtown Vancouver. It's a new concept launched by the powerhouse Miku, Minami, Aburi group. The wagyu curry gives them an option to utilize the excess fat from their wagyu beef. The curry is tasty and even a small order is more than enough rice for me. I ordered the oyster furai which turned out to be very little. Next time I should order 2 items like oysters and shrimp or katsu. They serve Japanese pickles that resemble sauerkraut on the side. Expert tip, eat quickly, the high fat content of the wagyu curry will solidify very quickly.
Toffy C — Google review
Very rich curry, very tasty. But some of the rice was mushy, never experienced that in a Japanese restaurant before. Katsu was fattier than my preference and could be a tad larger. Self serve water and pickles available. Free oyster fry for students until July 31st, not too bad. More expensive than other curry places unfortunately.

I’ve visited Wa Curry a few times now and the food is always exceptional! The ordering process is mainly self-service, but the staff still make guests feel well taken care of and at home. I was worried that the curry would be too rich because it’s made with wagyu, but it was perfect for my preferences. I tried the wagyu curry with pork katsu, and with soft boiled egg. Both were delicious and offered nice tastes and textures to complement the curry. The curry sauce itself was very flavourful and I constantly crave it. I’m excited to see that they’ve recently expanded their hours to 7 days a week too!

Don't be like me and make this mistake: the base does not include a wagyu katsu!! The wagyu is in the stew/curry and you have to order toppings if you want katsu! I had to order separately cause oops. With that being said, the tonkatsu is delicious! Way better than any I've had so far. So juicy and crispy. Pairs soo well with the curry. Decently priced, although it will get pricier if you want to load it up. Highly recommend! Note: They don't do reservations. Walk in only and secure a table before going up to order.
Rebecca P — Google review
I love Japanese curry and Wa! Curry really does it well. The restaurant took over the former Gyoza Bar spot and is by the same owners as Miku and Minami. The ingredients taste really fresh and best of all, they use high-quality wagyu in their curries and stews. I ordered the scallop fry this time (delicious and plump), but will definitely try the vegan curry next time with brussel sprouts. The rice to curry ratio is perfect. Medium with one topping was great for lunch. If they happen to have the curry bun available, order it! It's so good with lots of filling.
Sophia C — Google review
It's unfortunate that I have to write a negative review. View my profile, I hardly ever speak lowly of food establishments. Summary: High prices, okay curry, bad quality control, misleading stew advertising, pay upfront, default 15% tip (additional steps to skip tip) for zero service. I came here excited to try out a dedicated Japanese curry restaurant, and was left disappointed and frankly a little saddened. We ordered a Wagyu curry with hamburg steak and a Wagyu stew with tonkatsu. The Wagyu curry with hamburg steak would've been fine except for the part where there was a large clump of hard rice that we mistook for a bone. For "premium Iwate rice", this is not acceptable. The Wagyu stew with tonkatsu was okay, except the stew had a single slice of carrot. The images advertised a series of vegetables in the stew including carrots and potatoes, so that was a blatant lie. What restaurant has food that doesn't look like its pictures? This isn't a McDonalds. The tonkatsu was fine though. But that's not all of it. The restaurant puts it onto the customer to seat themselves, get their own water, get their own order when its ready, and to put away their own dishes. And despite all that, the food is also expensive ($13-15 for Wagyu curry, $17-19 for Wagyu stew, no toppings included). You have to pay first online and it automatically sets the tip to 15%, and you have to go through 3 different steps to give a 0% tip. Why do they charge high prices and attempt to spoon feed us a 15% tip when there is no service? The customer has to do everything except for prepare the food, and yet it is this expensive? My Wagyu stew with tonkatsu costs $26 and for that price, I could've gotten better quality food and it would've included actual service. Not coming here again. I have never been this disappointed by an authentic Japanese restaurant before.

Horin Tonkotsu Ramen is a popular Japanese eatery that offers a variety of ramen dishes in a stylish setting. One of their signature features is the distinct tare sauce, which was the first of its kind and adds a unique flavor to their ramen. The menu includes options like Kikurage Mushroom Ramen and Moyashi Ramen with bean sprouts. Customers can also enjoy the house-made noodles served with pork tonkatsu style broth.
Pat Score (worth the price?) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall 5/5 worth more than the price. Must visit for 2025 Following visit was on April 25th 2025. Service: 5/5 Really nice and kind Atmosphere: 5/5 Clean and nice Food: 5/5 Tasty and professionally served The one ramen: - 9 / 10 - Chashu is well cooked - The broth is just spot on for me. Not too salty or not too bland. But this is just personal preference. - Probably one of the best Ramen I had in Canada Chashu bowl: - 7 / 10 - too much mayo - too sweet for Asian people - Rice is well cooked. would be nice to have some other rice types. (Like barley mix) - overall good Wakame salad was really fresh and たくあん or (Danmuji) was not japanese style one but was still fresh and nice.

I had the Ajitama ramen and added corn. It was so yummy! I am not a very fast eater but I slurped it down so quickly!😆 The flavours and textures all complimented each other so well. My partner got the Chashu ramen, and he agreed, it was amazing. Everyone says that Danbo has the best tonkotsu, but Horin is absolutely comparable and you don't have to wait in a line or come back to get a table (which makes it that much better in my eyes.) We were seated in around 2 minutes, orders taken after 5 minutes seated, and served around 5 minutes after that. The cost including tax for 2 ramen and 2 drinks before tip was $47. Not the cheapest, but also not breaking the bank. They offer points if you sign up. This order got us 90 points, and 150 gets you a $10 discount! Today was also Horin day, which they do on the 11th of each month. On Horin day, members earn double points, and lucky guests that get a design on the bottom of their bowl win a free ramen next time. The staff were very friendly and energetic, service was fast, and the space was clean. Overall, a very nice experience!😊 5/5⭐️

9/10 Ramen~ My boyfriend and I had a great experience eating at Horin last night. Their broth is great but, what we absolutely loved was their noodles! Worth the price and their combo deals and happy hour — where you get free noodles (as long as you finish it) is wonderful. The extra bonus is that they also serve matcha 😍 Horin has won my heart after just one time. Service is great, kind and friendly servers, the culture where you are greeted and they wish you a good day when you leave is excellent. Overall restaurant is pretty clean and the lighting, design and everything is nice.

Horin Ramen on Robson serves delicious, rich ramen with great flavor and texture — perfect comfort food as we move into the colder months. The broth is flavorful, noodles are nicely cooked, and the overall quality is consistent. However, since it’s fall and winter is coming soon, seating near the entrance can be a bit uncomfortable. Every time the door opens, cold air rushes in, making it chilly and causing the ramen to cool down quickly. It would be great if the restaurant could find a way to minimize the draft. Still, the ramen itself makes it worth the visit — just try to get a seat farther from the door!

Oh my goodness. Wow. My first time here and first time trying traditional tonkotsi ramen. You know it's legit when everyone spoke Japanese and there's a bidet in the washroom 🤣 I highly recommend getting the combo and try their pumpkin tiramisu. If you’re wandering down Robson Street craving ramen, Horin should be high on your list. On my recent visit, I tried their cold ramen, regular ajitama ramen, and a side of gyoza—and I walked away impressed. The cold ramen was a standout. Instead of the heavier sesame-based dressing you might expect, Horin serves a soy sauce and vinegar-based broth—light, tangy, and incredibly refreshing on a hot day. The thinly sliced cucumber and soft egg complemented the broth perfectly, and the small dab of chili sauce on top added just enough heat and complexity to keep things interesting. It's a beautifully balanced dish, and honestly, I’d return for this cold ramen alone. The ajitama ramen, in contrast, brought the richness you'd want from a hot bowl. The broth was deep and flavorful, with a thick sheen of oil that surprisingly didn’t taste oily at all. It was rich yet clean, hearty but not heavy—something that’s hard to pull off. Personally, I preferred the thicker noodles used in the cold ramen over the thin ones in this bowl, but that's more a matter of preference than a flaw. Either way, the bowl was delicious from start to finish. The gyoza were also excellent—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and served with a dipping sauce that struck a great balance between sweetness, vinegar, and saltiness. It paired especially well with the ramen. One tip though: skip the combo and just get the gyoza as a standalone side. You get more pieces, and the salad that comes with the combo isn’t really worth the trade-off. All in all, Horin delivers a thoughtful, well-executed menu that covers both rich and refreshing flavors. Whether you're sweating through a summer afternoon or settling in for a warm, comforting meal, Horin hits the spot.

The second I put this ramen in my mouth, I felt the English language leaving my body. I was overflowing with Japanese heritage and my parents aren’t even Japanese! I nearly lost the ability to speak English, but thankfully I was able to run to the nearest Tim Hortons and restore my English. But this ramen was absolutely phenomenal!

Horin Tonkotsu Ramen is a standout on Robson. The ramen was way more affordable than other spots nearby—and absolutely delicious. The pork was surprisingly tender and didn’t have that heavy, fatty taste you sometimes get. It went down smooth and left us wanting more. Weekday happy hour includes free extra noodles (just finish them or it’s a $2.50 charge—fair and kind of funny). The location is super convenient, right on Robson and close to all my favourite shops. Bonus: there’s a bathroom in the back, which is always appreciated. Definitely one of the best bowls we’ve had in Vancouver—and we’ve tried a lot. .

Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba is a modern Japanese eatery that offers unique soupless ramen dishes with creative toppings. Originating from Tokyo, this restaurant chain has expanded to various locations, including two new spots in Burnaby and Kerrisdale. Their signature mazesoba, or mixed noodles without soup, features traditional Japanese ingredients like seaweed and Chashu.
A delight to eat by yourself and a treat to eat in a group. Atmosphere of the restaurants is very warm and welcoming with a few interesting paintings along the walls. I came at a good time as it wasn't busy so I was seated immediately. I was really surprised to learn that they had a section for individuals eating by themselves or in pairs. They have booths for larger groups. I was given a physical menu to look through and a digital tablet to order from. Barely any interaction with the waiter. Introverts heaven. Waiter was very polite, friendly and gentle. Food looked delicious (exactly like pictures) and it also tasted wonderful! The noodles were firm to the touch yet soft when chewing. The combination of all the ingredients together empowered the flavours of the dish. The drink is smooth with a slight tickle in the throat just so slightly to remind you that it's a carbonated beverage. The only downside I can really say about the drink is I would have liked less ice but other than that. Wonderful drink.

Came in to try the dry noodles (a feature dish from Nagoya). I enjoyed the flavors and they offer free rice when you're done to mix with the left over protein of the dish. I found it quite filling. The gyoza is traditionally made with the skin sticking together between pieces and the chicken karage had some good bite to it. They have a rewards system too which could be useful as more locations open.

This is the first dinner in Vancouver after a long driving day. I wish me and my friends checked the reviews before we headed there so it would not ruin our trip in Vancouver. I have no idea they have had disappointing service over 7 months already and still not fixing it yet. First of all, the food is fine but do not look for service from them esp with the short hair waitress. I don’t usually leave review unless it’s unacceptable. It felt like offending them by dinning in. There was a promotion saying free side-dish if ordering main dish so we asked for what we can have. And we saw kitchen staff pointing middle finger when taking the request. What the heck?!! Later on we requested of refilling water but that waitress only filled not even half of my friend’s cup and ignored my other friend’s cup. We thought she just walked away because of out of water but it’s not. Then we had to request again and let the other server know the whole situation how disappointing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO PEOPLE TO SUFFER FROM WHAT WE HAVE ALREADY SUFFERED!

Visit: September 2025 Had the up sized deluxe spicy mazesoba bowl. I like how you can upside it without an extra fee! The bowl was loaded with a lot of different toppings. I did find that the fish was a bit greasy (so I didn't feel amazing after), and the meat was a bit lacking and dry, but otherwise it was good! They give you a bit of rice st the end for free if you ask for it to mix with the remaining sauce. Adding the vinegar in definitely changes the taste, cuts the fattiness, and elevates the flavor, so highly recommend using it Overall it was good! Will definitely leave full

Great noodles either in soup or in umami sauces. Vegetarian choices in both types of noodle, but rice bowls and curry have meat. Great soft serve (included with meal purchase on Wednesdays 2-9 pm). Easy ordering on tablets at each table. Large dining room with high ceilings. Comfortable seating. Piano music is a relaxing touch, however the chef slams the ‘order up’ bell very hard, and lots of noise from the kitchen. Bathroom is undergoing some needed tile repairs. Front windows not as spotlessly clean as they could be.

One of the many outlets of Kokoro... this one located downtown on Seymour St. You order using the tablet at the table. Menu is pretty much the same as other locations. Got the Mentaiko Cream ($17.95 same price for XL) with slow-braised pork chashu and the Deluxe Ramen. Not as much flavor with the mentaiko compared to what we had in Japan. They have some refreshing drinks so we went with the Blue Hawaii Lemonade ($5.95) and the Milk Tea

I like going here for lunch sometimes, usually I have ramen and it's great Today I ordered chicken karaage and I noticed that the chicken was not cooked all the way through. There were two pieces, one smaller and one slightly larger. The smaller one I bit into first and it was borderline, I inspected a bit and figured it was cooked enough so I ate it. The larger piece (pictured) was not cooked, however. I get it, mistakes happen when preparing food like this, but it's the way the handled the situation was what I'm writing this review about and am most concerned with I let the server know and showed her the chicken. She said she'd take it to the kitchen to "check". She came back a few minutes later with the chicken in hand and said that the chicken WAS cooked and that the kitchen said it was "just flour". I asked her what the point was in arguing over a single piece of chicken, obviously it is borderline not cooked - why bring it back to the table and make a spectacle of it? The server apologized and comped my meal. It's just super weird to bring this back to someone's table and argue over chicken. So why not, I'll make a spectacle as well :) maybe next time think critically about how to handle certain situations.

Maruhachi Ra-men Westend is a cozy eatery that specializes in serving authentic ramen noodle soups with various add-ins such as braised pork belly and soft-boiled eggs. The restaurant's founder, Tetsuyo Kudo, opened the first Marutama Ramen in Kawaguchi, Japan over twenty years ago before expanding globally.
The chicken soup base ramen tasted very good. It had deep flavor soup and chewy noodles. Chashu was soft and no pork smell and the egg was special!

Perfect bowl of ramen. It’s deceiving at first glance, it looks like a small bowl but it’s actually quite heavy. Broth is creamy and smooth. I like how that give you the regular or mild option. Noodles were a good bite.

Wow! We tried so many different items and everybody in our group agreed the food was fantastic. Highlight of our trip. Prices were reasonable for quality , amazing food. Pork Fillet on rice was a must. And all the ramen dishes exceeded expectation. Went at 4pm Sunday afternoon. Great time to walk in. Usually a long wait.

Delicous bowl of ramen. I am not a big ramen person so that says a lot. The noodles were made perfectly al dente as per requested. I was impressed by the 4 large piece of pork and an egg with each bowl. The pork slices were actually tender, moist and delicous. Broth was also good! The ramen here is better than many I've had in Japan. Staffs were nice and polite.

Chicken based ramen so really depends on your preference. Flavours were clean and had flavour add ons. Noodles were thin only so depends if you prefer thick like other ramen places.

I got the aka ramen, and it was decent. They provide sesame seeds, chili flakes, and umami salt seasoning to customize your bowl if needed. It was filling and good flavor.

Extremely kid friendly. Food was amazing! Vest egg and pork belly ive had in a long time. The yoke was still runny, which means they are fresh..

Loved the ramen here. Arguably better overall than Ramen Danbo. Wasn’t as crowded and didn’t feel as rushed as the popular ramen spot just up the road.

Motomachi Shokudo is a cozy Japanese eatery located in Vancouver's West End, known for its authentic and flavorful ramen dishes. Established in 2007, this wood-lined restaurant offers a variety of ramen options, with their signature dish being the bamboo charcoal dark miso ramen. The broth is made from a blend of chicken, pork, fresh vegetables, and seafood, resulting in a natural and rich flavor.
While there’s plenty of ramen options in the neighbourhood, for me Motomachi stands out as a favourite. The ramen is excellent here - good options, quality ingredients, and decent portions. Intimate space, friendly staff, quick service, good ambiance. Seating is kind of uncomfortable so I wouldn’t come here for a lengthy meal, but great for a quick bite solo or with a couple of friends - tables are small.

We came here for lunch as we saw that this ramen restaurant was highly ranked in 2018. We came here around 12. The restaurant was quite empty with one customer only. We were seated right away. Servers were friendly. We knew the bamboo charcoal dark miso ramen was famous, so we ordered it and gave it a try. The ramen came out pretty quickly. We tried the soup base first. We couldn’t really tell what flavour it was although it was a dark miso base. We tried the ramen. The texture of the noodles was good. The chashu was very tendered. Unfortunately, we did not have a “wow” experience when we were eating the bowl of ramen. Maybe other flavours like shoyu, miso and shio ramen would taste better? We were there eating the whole time. Some customers came in but the restaurant was not full around 12:30pm or so. Comparing to the other ramen restaurants on Robson, this one was less busy obviously. If I would like to eat ramen next time, I might go somewhere else but not this one.

I did not want to believe the reviews but the ramen is too salty!!! All of my family agreed: father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and husband. I usually am ok when it comes to salty things but this was hard to actually drink if ever it was just the soup that was left. So all of us left the soup =( Portioning was off for me. most everyone wanted extra noodles except for me but I got EXTRA so I was really full even if I did not drink the salty soup, Expensive a bit and not enough space to eat. Maybe if they change they layout. They do have hooks to hang your bag/jackets. -2 star. please fix the expensive salty soup!!!!! I will come back again and taste it again with a different set of people. i will change then my review.

Always guaranteed premium quality authentic ramen dish. Classic Shio ramen will be the one you can find no where else. Also Bamboo-charcoal black miso ramen is another signature dish. This is the one of the restaurants Vancouver should not loose no matter there is Pandemic or not.

It’s very authentic and not too complicated! I love that the chair is so unique! I also love the fact you can hang your jacket on the wall and not worrying where to put them! Services are very nice, they are very efficient and kind! I ordered Shoyu chicken chashu and gyoya there! So delicious!

This was the first ramen place I visited since I came to Canada and it was a great experience! Friendly service with good food! There are three different levels of spicy miso!!! Another must-try is Bamboo Charcoal Dark Miso, quiet special and yummy!!
Rachel W — Google review
We came here as the lineup outside Kintaro Ramen was a bit long for our liking and our kids were super hungry. Plenty of seating available here so were worried about how good it would be. There was no need to worry. We found the quality of the Ramen broth to be excellent (rich and plenty of depth in the flavor with the right amount of umami) and the noodles in particular to be even slightly superior to the ones at Kintaro. The Gyozas (both spicy and regular) were very tasty and perfectly cooked with just a slight char and crispness to them. The flavor of the filling in the Gyozas were also slightly better than Kintaro, in my oppinion. Surprisingly! They ended up running out of soup while we were there and we only had the choice of the Tonkotsu broth. Which as I wrote, was excellent. This is a testament I suppose to the quality of their Ramen. Though I love the Garlic and Spicy Ramen at Kintaro and the overall quality of their food, I would not hesitate to return to Motomachi Shokudo for sure. We had an excellent experience here.

After dinner at Zakkushi, a snack at Jingle Bao, followed by a late evening stop at Motomachi, Prince Poo’s attempts at his portion control diet are failing miserably. Didn’t know this place closes at 830pm, so it was a nice touch when we arrived at 825 and they still let us in to grab a seat. Beer and very tasty gyoza for $7.9 is a steal and great way to start meal #3. Next up was the ramen... we had the black miso and shio broths. You don’t get to customize your ramen like other places but the noodles here were fantastic... firm and bouncy... and the chasu, while a bit small, had that right combination of fat and meat that just melts in your mouth 🤤 We both thought the shio broth was better than the black miso for those wondering. Believe this place is an OG like Kintaro so much respect... Prince Poo will be back.

Maruhachi Ra-men Central Library, formerly known as Marutama, is a popular Japanese spot offering delicious ramen and gyoza in a casual setting. The ever-present queue indicates the high quality of their freshly made noodles served in a rich chicken-based broth. You can enhance your dish with options like cha-su, sea lettuce, or spicy chili flake, and don't miss the Tamago topped with a seasoned half-boiled egg.
Based on my experience, I would say it is a positive one. Maybe I went at a later time as it is not busy so it wasn't busy. The gyoza is good. Pan fried dumplings cooked perfectly. Dip in soy sauce adds some saltiness to the dish. The ramen is good with the creamy chicken broth. The broth is rich and hearty. I ordered cha-shu tamago ramen and made it spicy. It was really good with soft boiled egg to make the ramen creamy. Where was this in Edmonton's ramen in South Commons (the egg in there was meh and too springy)? The broth has that nice spiciness kick that it doesn't overpower the broth and dish. And the cha-shu was really good. It tasted similar to Chinese version of char siu. I would come back again.

I have been coming to this location for the last 6+ years every time I visit Vancouver. It has been consistent every single time. Potentially the best ramen I've had. Noodles are perfect density. The broth is to die for. The egg is the perfect texture. And the meat always is FRESH. service is instant and do not feel rushed to leave.

Favourite ramen spot! Always come here before concerts to grab a bowl of noodles. The ramen eggs are delicious and the broth is very flavorful. The wait staff are very friendly and accommodating. I usually go for the tamago, but I’ve had the miso ramen and it’s also fantastic.

We had tickets for a 7:30 pm musical at QE Theatre and were still hanging around Central Park just two hours before showtime. Time seemed okay on paper, but with downtown parking always being a gamble, we decided to head there first and find food nearby. When asked what to eat, the kid’s answer was crystal clear: “Something Japanese… with soup.” Ramen it was! After a long day, nothing feels better than a hot, rich bowl of ramen. Since the kid had already munched on an egg sandwich in the car, we weren’t too hungry. We ended up sharing one bowl of ramen, plus a dashimaki and some gyoza on the side. Simple, satisfying, and just right before heading into the theatre. Sometimes the best meals are the ones that hit the spot without overcomplicating things. 🍜🎭

Had the tsukumen ramen and it was good, but the aka ramen was so delicious. Super flavourful, creamy and it was super complex which I loved. So much different flavours hitting your mouth with every sip! Amazing service as well!

Always consistent and reliable. The ramen was good. Light broth. Service was quick and efficient. We were in and out in 20 mins which was exactly what we needed. The only drawback was that they charge for garlic flakes now versus before it was unlimited and free :( but I guess in this economy it's understandable.

This was my last meal during my trip to Vancouver. During this time, I ate at Danbo, Marutama, Maruhachi, and others, but only this place’s ramen was disappointing. The egg they gave me was in a strange shape, and the char siu had a very strong gamey flavor. This was the worst meal in my entire Canadian journey.

Ignore all the 5-star reviews. Maybe they changed the chef recently otherwise I have no idea how this place has all those glowing reviews... We survived the blandest ramen noodles known to humankind. This place served up a bowl of sadness so flavorless, it made me question my taste buds. I actually wondered if Covid 2.0 struck and I had been somehow infected with the tastebud killing version even though I didn't catch it the first time. My dinner companion (a forgiving soul) gave their ramen a generous 1/10, which I can only assume was for the fact that it was served in a bowl and not directly into their hands. I ordered the "tan-men" - a bowl of lackluster flavorless noodles so uninspired, I half-expected the chef to come out and apologize for wasting my time. All the veggies were sliced in miniscule millimitres and almost every single noodle I've gotten from the Asian grocery store tasted better. To describe the "creamy chicken broth" as "mild" would be an insult to that word everywhere. I've had more flavor chewing on printer paper. I genuinely think a pack of 99-cent instant noodles from T&T—flavor packet and all—could've outclassed this sad, soulless attempt with better noodle consistency. Also, the "umami" flavorings at the table were reminiscent of lukewarm bathwater. That "umami soy sauce" tasted like someone whispered "soy sauce" into a vat of boiled bath water. We left angrier than when we arrived for wasting a birthday meal on this mass disappointment. If food could file for a restraining order against seasoning, this ramen would already have the paperwork processed. Avoid at all costs unless you're doing a scientific study on what disappointment tastes like. 🙃🍜

Menya Raizo is a lively spot that serves up a variety of ramen and classic appetizers such as gyoza and takikomi rice balls. The restaurant offers an authentic experience with its traditional Japanese ambiance, complete with a tin roof, warm orange light bulbs, and charming lanterns. Most of the soup, noodles, and cha-shu are handcrafted daily in their central kitchen to ensure authenticity. The retro-style interior is adorned with lanterns and Japanese photographs spanning several decades.
This place is a fun and lively spot with a welcoming atmosphere and seriously good food. I ordered the Hakata tonkotsu ramen, and it did not disappoint — the broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the toppings were fresh and satisfying. It’s exactly the kind of meal you want when you’re craving something hot, hearty, and comforting.

Ramen was served barely warm. Broth was lukewarm and chashu came with a hint of cold…fresh from the fridge. The bowl shape was like a martini cup so they can save money. Added an egg for $2.5 that made a bowl of noodle to almost $25. Obviously I wouldn’t give such review of the food was good. Gyoza was served lukewarm as well…hey at least the kitchen is consistent and maybe they afraid the customers would burn their tongues. Total bill after tips was almost $37 for a tiny bowl of cold noodle and gyoza.

I ordered for the Thunder Dragon (monthly special) and the Matcha dessert. I can’t change the egg to any vegetables, so I have to get rid of it. Don’t know if they only do frozen ramens and when it comes to dine in they just boil the frozen ones, so that I can’t change the toppings. The flavor is standard it doesn’t surprise me or disappoint me. The dessert is TOO sweet, I can’t taste any ‘Matcha’ from it , I believe Matcha should be a little bitter rather than totally sweet. While the Mochi inside tastes good which is similar to rice cake. The price is $27.2 in total with tax and tips. Hopefully the service could be improved as well.

I ordered the Yuzu Cool Ramen — perfect for summer! I really loved the chewy noodles. If you prefer softer noodles, you might want to ask for that when ordering. The soup was amazing and truly impressive! Even though it’s made with yuzu, the salted yuzu broth didn’t taste like juice — it was refreshing and appetizing. I’ll definitely come back to try another flavour!

It’s a classic March day in Vancouver - 5 degrees, raining, and you haven’t seen the sun all day. Now that you think about it, you haven’t seen the sun in months. Does it even exist? Or was it just a figment of your imagination, something your mind desperately conjured as it tried to claw itself out of spiraling depression? Right before your existential dread consumes you, your stomach grumbles. On such a frigid and wet day, you have a thought: “Maybe a warm, comforting meal would cheer me up. If nothing else, maybe I can escape this cold for just 30 minutes as I indulge in a tasty dinner.” As you walk down Broadway, you see it: Menya Raizo by Zakkushi. It seems to subtly glow, as if begging you to go inside - no, you tell yourself that you’re just hungry and cold, so you’re seeing things that aren’t there. Regardless, a bowl of ramen is just what your body needs. Beaten and battered by the Vancouver rains, you enter into the quaint establishment and are greeted by friendly staff who show you your seat with a smile. Immediately, your mood brightens. You open the menu and decide on the Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen - surely you can’t go wrong with the house special. After placing your order with the staff, your dish comes out after a short wait. The hot, delicious broth and the tender pork rouse you back to reality. Yes, the sun does shine! Yes, the rains will stop! Yes, Peter Griffin is in fortnite! You quickly slurp down the rest of your broth, eager to get back outside and take life by the horns. Indeed, the warm meal did cheer you up. In fact, it permanently changed you - life is a gift, as this cromulent bowl of ramen has shown. Why spend it in sadness? This meal invigorated your soul, and you can’t wait to return home so you can do the Apple dance as Peter Griffin in fortnite. 10/10 would recommend.

We came here around 11:30am on Sunday. We got a table right away. It was not too busy. Servers who are Japanese greeted us at the door and they were very friendly. We reviewed menus and looked at ingredients and then we selected our choices on a piece of paper by circling all the items that we wanted. The sheet of paper or menu was very self explanatory. After we made our selections, one of the servers confirmed our choices and placed an order for us. The ramen came out quickly. We tried the soup base and had a first bite of the ramen and ingredients. Everything was very good. We decided to have a coffee elsewhere otherwise we would have tried one of their desserts. The desserts looked delicious listed on the menu.

Tonkotsu Ramen Tsukiya is a cozy and popular ramen spot known for its rich tonkotsu broth and chewy noodles. Their menu features unique chef's specials like the garlic and tomato broth with corn and fresh tomato, adding an Italian twist to the classic Japanese dish. The restaurant offers a small but great selection of ramen options, with favorites including Shoyu-ramen and tomato garlic-ramen.
Amazing little place definitely a must try!!! The ramen is so fatty, flavourful and full of depth. Had the extra spicy miso ramen and shoyu ramen, both 10/10! The gyoza is also fantastic. The pork melts in your mouth and the service is great.

Their ramen is tonkotsu based with thick chewy noodle. We really liked the texture of the noodle. The broth (both shoyu and miso) was quite flavourful and went well with the noodle though a bit on the greasy side. Wedged between two busy bicycle shops, you may miss this little eatery easily. We had to actively look for the place despite of it being right in front of us.

I really enjoyed their chewy ramen. The chicken broth was rich and flavourful, and the Cha Siu was tender and well prepared. Portion size was just right, and the overall balance of texture and taste made it very satisfying. The place has a nice atmosphere and friendly service, which made the experience even better. I finished the entire bowl!😊

Flavorful broth, tender katsu but what I loved the most was the noodle quality. The noodles are thicker and have a bite and don't compare with the flavorless, almost cardboard noodles you get elsewhere. Good egg game too.

Menya ITTO, known as the "King of Tsukemen," is a renowned ramen restaurant originating from Tokyo and is set to open its first location in Vancouver. Specializing in the dipping noodles style of ramen, they offer a unique experience where springy noodles are dipped into a separate bowl of highly concentrated broth. While they also have classic ramen options available, their expertise lies in tsukemen, making it an unforgettable dining experience.
My friends and I stopped at this restaurant when we were walking back to our hotel. It's a nice decoration inside, especially a big table with a tree in the middle. The staff are friendly and attentive. We ordered the combo ramen, which came with a bowl of ramen, 1 side, and 1 drink. I ordered the tonkasu ramen and smoked duck as a side dish. The broth was good, not salty. The smoke duck was good. My friends ordered the vegetable ramen noodles and the clam ramen noodles.

Visited Menya ITTO, Tokyo, a few months ago, really liked their Tsukemen & chewy noodles. Feeling impressed that now there is one at DT Vancouver. I tried their Menya Itto Classic Tsukemen - Menya Itto’s Signature broth dipping Ramen with Ajisuke Tamago and shiso infused crunchy textured chicken balls with a generous thick housemade noodles. Noodles were great as well as other ingredients. Broth was hot enough - the trick was you would have to dip the cold noodles into the soup bit by bit (in small portions). I saw someone sitting next to my table poured all the noodles into the soup at one time - this would definitely make the soup turning lukewarm & thus affect the taste. The only issue (maybe only to me) was, I still thought the broth was a bit too salty. Service was very attentive. Recommended!

I already have been here more than 5 times. This restaurant is my first experience of eating tsukemen. This place is one of the most delicious places in Vancouver. I love tsukemen. sauce?broth? chowder? anyway, it tastes like both fish and pork. And noodles are thick than other ramen noodles, so texture is soooooo nice. I really miss here when I go back to my country.

UPDATE: I AM SO F-ING SAD! THEY CLOSE NOV 15! Eating there everyday until then. This ramen place's claim to fame is that it was voted Japan's best ramen restaurant. Most Vancouver ramen lovers might be disappointed that they use tsukemen noodles instead of the familiar yellow ramen noodles. They use different kinds of broth from traditional pork, to chicken and even prawn this season. I believe this may even be imported frozen from Japan. The broth is thick, creamy and has a simple natural taste from boiling the right natural ingredients rather than using flavorings and spices. I really liked the chicken broth and traditional chashu pork. But the chashu chicken was excellent and great for people who don't eat pork. The rosu or pork tenderloin was so tasty and tender, I even had it as a side dish. The tsukemen noodles were just a bit over al dente giving a wonderful texture. Reasonable prices for the quality. Update me and my buddies agreed not to post the lobster tsukemen with flambéed risotto until we all ate our fill in case they run out. Sorry folks posting now: Lobster available again yum

I had to look at so many places to find this place that actually make ramen with chicken or vegetarian broth because apparently in west Vancouver there was non. We were so happy to find this place and the food was really good. The atmosphere was very nice great vibe and nice decor. The servers were very nice and welcoming as well and prices was reasonable. I will definitely come back again.

Menya Itto on Robson Street is a top spot for ramen lovers. Known for its signature tsukemen, the thick, chewy noodles paired with a rich chicken and seafood broth are a delight. The Chashu Noko Gyokai Ramen and lobster ramen are also standout dishes, offering unique and flavorful experiences. The ambiance is calm and inviting, with natural decor and soothing music. The service is exceptional, with friendly staff and a modern touch using QR codes for the menu. Overall, Menya Itto delivers a fantastic ramen experience with well-crafted dishes, a cozy atmosphere, and excellent service.

They specialize in Tskukemen style Ramen. Tskukemen are cold noodles that are dipped in hot broth. Everything I ate with the Tskukemen Chashu Ramen was delicious. The chashu is soft. The noodles were thick and dense. The star of the dish was the chicken balls...very tasty. I had to get a second order after I ate them. I ordered the gyoza side dish but would say they were just not my style. I want to come back and try the lobster Ramen. Great place! I will mention that there was a 15 min wait but it's worth the wait!
Zo W — Google review
I know many people have already tried their ramen here but I have been waiting for a long time, making sure I don’t need to wait in line, and walking in with a table available right away haha 😀 My family and I got there when they opened at 11:30am. Definitely no waiting. Got a table right away. Customer service was great. Staff were attentive taking good care of all customers. They are Japanese who are always very polite and friendly. We ordered the Noko Gyokai Ramen with chashu and vegan one. The broth of both dishes were good and ingredients were great. Two things that I would criticize on would be the noodles themselves and broth. We felt the broth had quite a lot of MSG. We were very thirsty after eating the ramen. We did not drink the soup though. The texture or quality of the ramen or noodles was just okay. We had really good ones elsewhere. The interior design and decor are great! It is nice and bright inside. The table and chairs are clean. Food came out quickly once we had ordered. Staff was friendly and efficient. We only spent half an hour to order the food and eat it and we could leave around 12. If I would come back here next time, I would try their special lobster ramen and/or Tsukemen. 😋 I might try their desserts as well although they don’t have too many options for desserts.

ZUBU Ramen in Downtown Vancouver is a locally owned and operated restaurant that offers authentic Japanese flavors with a touch of local ingredients. The menu features a variety of classic and modern ramen options, including the popular Mazesoba, which is a brothless but flavorful variation. Customers can also enjoy the signature ramen flight, where they can sample different types of ramen. The restaurant also offers lunch specials that include a drink, salad, ramen or rice dish, and dessert.
Everything about my experience at this restaurant was great. Pleasant servers, that we're professional, courteous, and patient (with my questions). I am courageous with trying new cuisines, and the handroll did not disappoint. The Ramen dish I ate was also amazing. Finally, whiskey, bourbon, and scotch usually taste like gasoline to me. However, the Hibiki Japanese whisky was fantastic! Overall, it is was a win-win-win situation.

I absolutely love ZUBU - any location, really - but the Hornby St one has a special place in my heart. The food and service are consistently amazing. This time, I was in the mood for something light and comforting, and their chicken ramen with a seasoned egg was exactly what I needed. Warm, flavorful, and soothing - like a hug for your tummy. 🥹 Everything was fresh and beautifully presented, as always. ZUBU never disappoints!

I went there hoping for vegan, nut free food and I am so happy I made the choice. Food was just super delicious! They were very patient taking down notes about our multiple food allergies. Katia was meticulous and careful. Thanks to the chef who cooked an amazing meal for us! Will definitely go back to this place!

Exquisitely delicious food. They have happy hour from 2-5 with special prices. The kids meal had a bit of everything from the restaurant. There is no sushi, only takoyaki which you make your own roll. The best plate was the mixed appetizers plate. Really good. The ramen came in three flavors, pork, chicken and Vegetarian. The chicken ramen was really good with fresh micro veggies

This was amazing!! The only thing I usually don't like about eating ramen is you don't get to try the rest of the menu since it's always a pretty large portion, but in here they have the option to give you a size mini and I was able to try other stuff!
Marie C — Google review
We visited this café for the first time and were pleasantly impressed. The staff is very friendly and polite, the food is of a decent level, and the children’s menu even turned out to be a gift. We really enjoyed the delicious cocktails. Another nice surprise was the coins for the game machine at the entrance, where the kids could win a prize. There are lots of small pleasant details that make the place special. We will definitely come back again. Thank you!

Super friendly service and there is plenty of seating and very large windows. I really like the ambiance here! It’s neat because they have a Ramen plate where you can have three mini different types, but you can’t pick them. You can only have what set on the menu. I also like how you can get a mini bowl of Ramen or a regular size. What’s also good to know is that their broth is made from shiitake mushrooms so the creamy chicken Ramen is made from the mushroom broth but it’s not very mushroomy and it is very creamy and very good.

OVERALL: Delicious food and great drink! Definitely a must come back. FAMILY FRIENDLY: Yes PET FRIENDLY: No PARKING: Street Parking FOOD: Takoyaki (5pc battered octopus, egg tartar, okonomi sauce, mayonnaise, dried bonito flakes, green onion, shredded nori seaweed) $9.95CAD Happy Hour: 5 Stars - I feel like you cant really mess up takoyaki but i've weirdly had some bad ones. This is NOT one of them! Solid exterior wtih chewy-soft interior with big pieces of octopus. There was so much stuff on top that it looked like a mini salad. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (pork broth, pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, crispy garlic, nori seaweed, spicy bean sprouts) $16.95CAD Happy Hour: 5 Stars - I love Tonkotsu! The rich creaminess is hard to replicate at home (especially putting in like 2 days into it) and this was so flavorful! The chashu was super tender and good amount of topping so you get a little something with each bit of ramen. Kids Meal Set (Appetizer: Snack box of crispy chicken, panko breaded shrimp, french frieds, with nori sea salt, baby leaves, cherry tomato, orange slice / Main: Chicken ramen - chicken broth, thin noodle, chicken chashu, corn / Dessert: Mochi Ice Cream) $9.99CAD: 5 Stars - This is probably the best kids meal i've ever seen. You get so much for $10CAD and i would have loved it as a kid... hell, i would order that now for myself if they would let me. Even the kids ramen broth was rich, flavorful, and hearty. DRINK: Lycheepolitan (Japanese shochu, soho lychee, chambord, Japanese Yogurt) $11.25CAD Happy Hour: 5 Stars - I would love if any restaurant i go to had this on the menu! The bartender was amazing - the right amount of sweetness that hides any taste of the 2 oz of alcohol but you definitely felt it later LOL RESTAURANT/SERVICE: There are so many ramen places now and i'm glad i ended up at Zubu! I'm always wary of chains, even if its local as most times i feel like expansion takes away from the quality. I will say the exterior kind of threw me off... as i approached the restaurant i was a little confused as it looked like a random entrance to a hotel restaurant or something kind of run down... Once i walked in, I was surprised at the difference of the interior. Everything was clean and modern looking. The staff there was extremely attentive and very knowledge about everything. They made sure i understand the menu and provided information when asked.

Ramen Kounotori is a new ramen spot located on Main Street in Vancouver. Despite having a small menu, each bowl is crafted with excellence. The Tori Paitan Ramen and Tori Shio Ramen are highly recommended options. The Kara Tori Paitan features moist and tender chicken, flavorful pork chasu, creamy broth with hints of seafood and pepper, and perfectly cooked egg. However, the plain base ramen leans more towards Chinese flavors than Japanese.
Great ramen, kinda obvious since it's a ramen place. But the gastronomy take was fun and creative and I love it. Meanwhile, I totally didn't expect *that* when I ordered a side karaage...let alone with fries. It could singlehandedly feed me. Regardless of the very unauthentic look, the flavor was actually legit soy sauce-based karaage. They also didn't use ketchup for the fries - the aioli was great with a strong garlic punch.
Evan L — Google review
It's a very different vibe here. There is a dedicated bar section, but it looks very underused. The ramen is quite unique, with a mix of chicken and pork broth. Milky in color and quite good flavor depth. The ramen comes with a full egg and tori paitain, and kara tori paitain had a big chunk of chicken breast and a very thin slice of chashu. The ramen itself is good. The tori karaage was not good. The fries were not fried well, and the chicken wings were small and dry. Service was almost non existant. They give each table a jug of cold roasted tea but don't come back to refill it. They also don't watch tables to see who have finished.

Had a nice Friday dinner with my fam as we were yearning for some warm comfort food. We have ate at a lot of other ramen places and this place is one of the good ones. Their broth is so umami and their cha Siu and noodle package is so tasty and delicious. Only downside is we dish their bowls were a bit bigger. We had their Tori Paitan and Tori Shoyu ramen including their tomago rice dish which was smoky and delicious. Their gyozas were tasty as well. Highly recommend this ramen place if you’re looking for a warm and delicious bowl of comfort food ramen.
Victor W — Google review
I got the Tori Paitan. They put in a lot of meat and toppings, which I love. However, I kind of wish they hadn’t put black pepper in the chicken, as it overpowered the dish a bit. I would’ve liked the soup to be a bit thicker, but I think it’s fairly good by Vancouver standards. The service was quick and nice.
Plum C — Google review
Chicken-based broth — really flavorful and comforting without being too heavy. The interior has a cozy and modern vibe that makes the dining experience even better. I also appreciated the free refillable tea, which is a nice and generous touch you don’t often see. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something different from the usual pork-based ramen.
Kloe W — Google review
3.5/5 STARS Cozy ramen place serving tori paitan ramen - made of chicken instead of pork bones. Service was decent, although wait time for ramen was longer than most, at around half an hour from ordering to receiving the ramen. Ramen itself was decent, got the spicy tori paitan. Broth had a good kick, the chicken chashu was tender. Pork chashu was decent but inconsistent in flavourful, as the seasoning only covered the outside of the slices. Overall, decent but a little more pricey compared to other ramen places in Metro Vancouver.
Jackson B — Google review
A little skimpy on the portion size, particularly the broth - but the taste is undeniably acceptable. Tori chasu was a bit on the cold side but maybe that was intended. Love the decor and atmosphere. Would go back.

Japanese restaurant
Kingyo is an upbeat izakaya with inspired decor, offering inventive Japanese small plates and bento boxes. Located near Vancouver's Stanley Park, it's the perfect destination for Japanese small plates after biking the seawall. The restaurant features innovative takes on Japanese, Korean, and Chinese cuisines, serving mouthwatering dishes like stone-grilled Kobe beef and Chinese beef ribs sautéed in sweet balsamic vinaigrette.
It was my first time eating here. The restaurant decor was chic and cozy. The food was amazing, especially the Ramen was so good. I had their house made ginger ale and it tasted really good. Definitely will be back again to try some of their other dishes.
Thavy K — Google review
All the dishes were absolutely delicious, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We ordered a variety of items, each beautifully presented and full of flavor. The hot stone Japanese beef was a highlight—tender and fun to cook at the table—though understandably not quite as rich as what we’ve had in Japan. Still, it was very enjoyable. The service was attentive and friendly, and the ambiance added to the experience with its clean, modern aesthetic and relaxed vibe. Every bite felt thoughtfully prepared, and we left fully satisfied. A place we’d gladly return to!

This place lived up to the reviews. Spectacular food, impeccable service, and authentic atmosphere. Made me feel like I was back in Japan. Recommend making a reservation but if you a solo or group of 2, you might be able to walking and get a counter seat like we did. The corn is recommended and there is a reason for it. Seasonal special so we tried the blu fin tuna aburi sushi and it did not disappoint. We will be going back.

Oh my wow! I had their Anniversary Bento box special only 12 slots available was lucky they squeezed me in today...I was full satisfied and smiling after that meal! Those 12 little samplers floored me each time plus the toppings bowl option of the eel and snow crab then main course of seared Ox tounge medallions and rich miso based soup adds up.. all really really good.. they have been open for 19years and all the staff and great service was at peak today. I was surprised the reasonable prices for the ala carte menu also considering the high quality of dishes. I was also pleasantly surprised with the mixed fusion yet almost authentic japanese flavors. I did not find any "avocado" used in any of those 15 plates i had today..unlike westernized japanese food.... Yes!!! Good Job!! Do not miss a chance to dine here!.. a Vancouver gem.

Kingyo's classic assorted bento box. The one they only make 12 of per day. If you ever want to try it, definitely book months ahead. This is basically a mini kaiseki experience. Every element is crafted with that Japanese balance of taste, texture, and color. It’s as much about the art as it is about the flavour. Each set comes with 12 seasonal side dishes and your choice of main + bowl. Ordered the Truffle Carbonara Udon on the side. The cod was the clear star, buttery and perfectly grilled. The rest were ok. As for the sides: the tuna sashimi stood out, super fresh and clean-tasting. There was this chicken with grapes dish that was quite odd, texture was a bit off though, like canned tuna. And the mysterious mushy croquette-looking bite, not a fave. Still, the whole experience felt like a thoughtful lunch, delicate, detailed, and worth the anticipation. • Eel & Snow Crab Bara Chirashi and Grilled Duck Breast • Salmon & Tuna Bowl and Grilled Black Cod • Truffle Carbonara Udon

After seeing their Bento sets on Google, we decided to give Kingyo Izakaya a try. We made a reservation in advance and were seated immediately upon arrival; no wait time. The place is energetic with a touch of traditional charm. The staff were all friendly, from the hosts to the chefs behind the counter making us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. Food Unfortunately, we missed out on the famous Bento Set (sold out by 2PM), but everything else we ordered was pretty nice: Appetizer: Tako Wasabi & Seaweed Wrap – fresh with ground wasabi zinging your brain haha Tomato Kimchi - this was so refreshing!! We made a second order for this Main: Hokkai Bowl – Fresh and good portion. Eel Bowl - Tasty and good portion. Dessert: Frozen Matcha Crème Brûlée – The absolute highlight. Cold, rich, creamy, and not overly sweet. If we weren’t full, we honestly would have ordered another. Would love to check out the Bento set next time.

We had such a fun time at Kingyo. The staff were warm and attentive. Every dish we tried was fresh and beautifully put together. The hot stone beef was definitely the highlight and it's a fun interactive way to cook the meat. It was tender, and rich. Definitely a spot we’d come back to.

Lovely warm and friendly Japanese restaurant. The food is pricey and the portions are small however the flavours are good! The black cod was the star of the show, along with the black sesame panna cotta. This place seems to be busy all the time which is a good sign and they have weekly specials.

Harvest Community Foods is a cozy shop that offers organic groceries, produce, and a selection of noodle bowls and salads. It's known for its community-supported agriculture (CSA) concept, serving as a locally-focused grocery store, noodle shop, and pickup location for weekly CSA bags. The menu features ever-changing organic goodness sourced from local farms like Klippers Organics, Hazelmere Organic Farms, and North Arm Farms.
The food here is what I would make to impress someone. I would be considerate with ingredients, textures, healthy veg, technical finesse, and include at least one extra-points surprise. I ordered the ramen with dumplings and just inhaled it, while deconstructing in my mind how it was prepped. The dumplings were fresh, filling tasty. I saw two types of leafy greens: bok choy, Taiwan cabbage. Not only was there tender enoki mushrooms but crispy julienned wood ear mushroom. The broth had depth and character, like liquid gold with a whisper of chili oil. We happily slurped every last drop of broth out of respect. (10/10) The chocolate chip cookie is life changing, with large chunks of chocolate and crunchy granules of finishing salt. Yep, the chef and baker here have a love affair with food.

In 2012, Carlson opened Harvest Community Foods - a local foods grocer and ramen bar that focuses on transparency and sustainability. Andrea Carlson came on board as a consultant at a new local grocer, the idea for which had been crowd-sourced, as had the name. Just a few months later the consultant became the owner of Harvest Community Foods. The grocer became more than just a retail store operation. They threw in a simple menu of ramen and udon options, most around 12 bucks. Before you know it, they stuck oil, and it drew a crowd. I came here for a walk with my friend. The store front doesn't look anything special, but once you walk in, there's alot of charm, and alot of products. From grab and go items, in house kombucha, vegan puddings, non gmo items, and gluten free deserts like living lotus. We ordered 29, the butternut squash miso ramen. It was indeed good. Then 39 came, the pork with candied bacon ramen... The flavours were everywhere. Yes it did taste good but don't be expecting a true Japanese style ramen. This is not the place for it. Harvest gave it their own twist, and nothing is wrong with that because it was still tasty and comforting. The vegan caramel pudding was omg so good. I could eat it for days! Service is still 100% fantastic. Our server was kind enough to grab a table and 2 chairs for the both of us, since my dog was crying outside tied to a parking meter. Overall, I love their retail grocery store. I would love to spend more time here again and try other items!

Genuinely one of my new favorite go-to places! I had ordered the Green Curry Rice Bowl and it was truly one of the best meals I had thus far in Vancouver. The quality is unmatched and I absolutely LOVE that they use seasonal, local produce. Couldn’t recommend enough — cannot wait to come back and try more items!
Natalia R — Google review
Chill and relaxed atmosphere with a spacious and spread out interior. Harvest offers Good wholesome noodles and a small mart of premium 'local' groceries sourced from around town. Noodles are freshly made to order. Flavors aren't bold and out there, but sometimes you are just looking for some simpler flavor profiles made with good quality ingredients, and this provides exactly that. Quick points, come if you want something cooked well, and in a straight forward fashion with good quality goods and to relax in a chill and open atmosphere that is unusually quiet for a Vancouver eatery!

Very delicious! I got their special bowl. So yummy and what a filling portion. Also, strawberries are in season and they have such a great curation of local goods and friendly staff.
Sophia F — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I’m really into ramen and am very picky. I had the pork/miso ramen and the buttery flavor was phenomenal. It had pickled burdock in it, which I’ve never had but it worked very well. The ramen only came with about a 1/4 cup of broth, which I thought was unusual and perhaps accidental based on others’ photos. I’ll definitely come back to try other items. The store also has a great selection of local items for sale.
Paul L — Google review
Pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. The service is friendly and the food came out very fast! The noodle dish I got (#31) was really good and quite fresh. They also have quite a bit of plant-based options not just on their menu, but for "grocery" sales and snacks. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you're looking for a quick place to grab a bite to eat.

The menu offers innovative fusion dishes like Unagi Pizza and Truffle Chawan-Mushi, showcasing creative and intricate plates. Fantastic atmosphere! Awesome food, though a bit pricey. We went there on Friday night and had a good time. Customers were lining up once it was dusk. You can tell the waiters were trying to serve you as best as they could. I really enjoyed their sashimi, so fresh! So next time when you're in the Broadway area, do check them out :)

The atmosphere here was great! Staff have so much energy and it seemed like everyone was celebrating a birthday here. The food was so good, we ordered a lot for the table to share. The crab croquettes were so good, highly Recommended. The corn kakiage was pretty good. The sushi platter was fresh and the pork tomahawk was delicious.

The service is nice. Lots of smiles and greetings. I had the grilled fish and we shared the special bento. The fish next to salmon was really really good, a lot better than salmon even though salmon was already really good. The beef curry my friend had was also special and well made. The almond tofu contains whole almond, i like the texture. Overall will recommend to my friends.

I absolutely loved the curry rice at this restaurant. The open kitchen concept not only added to the dining experience but also showcased the cleanliness of their cooking area, which I greatly appreciated. It’s refreshing to see the care they put into maintaining a hygienic and inviting environment. This place is definitely worth recommending, especially for anyone who enjoys a good curry.

Easy recommendation, easy five stars. This restaurant knows flavor and excellent Japanese cuisine. I immensely enjoyed every dish, and they put great care in every detail of their restaurant, from the quality of food, to presentation, to ambiance, to service. It even reminded me of Japan. Genuinely impressed! Expect a higher price point, and the portions are more quality than quantity so keep this in mind. I particularly enjoyed the steak bowl and their salmon & umami set—the flavors were beautiful, and you know they’re doing something right when their plain rice is delicious. For a tasty and more filling dish, I’d go for the Double Tonkatsu Set! They also have a very fun way to celebrate birthdays and present you with a free dessert, so it’s a great choice for special occasions!

Very interesting restaurant. We were lucky we saw it and decided to give it a try and it was definitely worth it. :) When you enter you feel welcome as people in the kitchen welcome you in Japanese way. It’s very funny as it seems they are yelling at you. It’s not only great dining but also a great experience. They have a long menu so everyone will find something they like. The food is good but not exceptional. It seems it’s a popular birthday spot and they take birthdays very seriously which was really interesting.

Did we order lots of food? Yes we did 😂 because they are one of the best restaurants in town. We ordered Sashimi platter, back ribs, Eel don, noodle salad, crab croquette, tuna tataki, pork jowl and 1 sushi I believe it was toro. Yup for 2 people. The bill was only $260 including a bottle of white wine and tip as well. I think it was so reasonable. Seafood are quite fresh but again it’s Vancouver. You wouldn’t get fresher than what it is. The taste is amazing. Blended between the old traditional flavour with a twist of modern creation. It’s definitely worth visiting.

We waited 15 minutes for table which is totally fine. But whenever I went to washroom I heard the host is saying same sentences to everyone even there was bunch of empty table. Anyway... Food was amazing. We all love and enjoy our food. Salmon bowl was super tasty. Also fish and chips was super delicious. Wine menu is super tasty. I know here is brewing but I prefer wine which was so good. Server was so fast and smile service appreciate that. We will come back.

Couldn't make a reservation so had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. Ended up being seated inside and it was incredibly hot. Service was extremely slow. The table beside us had been seated for 20 minutes before we were seated and hadn't had a server come by their table yet. When the server did finally come he talked to us all at once and took both tables orders. Since we figured it would be a while before getting food, we ordered an app. The pretzel. This was the scrawniness most pathetic pretzel I've ever been served. The cheese was lumpy and the mustard was bland. A grainy dijon mustard would be much better. My avocado toast was inedible. The toast was so hard I couldn't cut it and it cut the roof of my mouth. The best part was the arugula . We were served 2 broken glasses. The whole thing was a disaster. Save you money and eat before or after you enjoy the park.

Great beer! Amazing food! And what a view and location! This was an awesome stop on a day long bike ride. It was a welcome respite to a hard ride around Stanley Park. We were a bit far from home and came across Stanley Park Brewing as we were exiting Stanley Park. A bit hungry, it was lunch so why not stop for lunch. We have had the beer from the brewery, so why not try the food? We were shown to a nice table and the staff were very attentive without being obtrusive. Some great suggestions from our server. The beer was delish as was the lunch. We had fish and chips and a bucket of prawns. All was excellent! The restaurant itself has lots of character and is very well laid out. There is accessible access and toilet facilities.

Came in as a group of three for drinks and apps. It’s a busy spot in the middle of the park, there was about a 20 min wait but the surroundings offer scenic paths to walk and kill time. We order a flight, a few pints, and the sweet potato waffle fries. Really enjoyed the Park Sesh Lager, Parkhouse Blonde Ale, and Trail Hopper IPA but the Sunsetter Peach Wheat Ale was the favourite.

Lovely experience at Stanley Park Brewing! The atmosphere is inviting and very autumnal this time of year. Had two delicious beers (Mermaid Parade and Sunsetter) and some phenomenal sweet potato waffle fries. Our server, Pedro L., was so welcoming and kind. The only reason for the 4 stars is the price, a little high but ultimately pretty typical for Vancouver.

Went for dinner with dad the other night for the first time. Dylan was our server, he gave us recommendations for both our starters and mains, suggested the mushroom calamari and edamame to start. I had one of the sandwiches and my dad got the salmon bowl. We were beyond satisfied with his recommendations. Would definitely come back again!

Hida Takayama Ramen is a hidden gem located in the food court of Robson Public Market. Despite its unassuming location, it attracts a steady stream of customers with its unique noodle soups, including options like four miso and white sesame. The stall prides itself on making all broths and noodles in-house, resulting in a delightful dining experience that's well worth seeking out.
The broth here is absolutely phenomenal. Thick, creamy, rich, and flavorful without being too fatty or salty. Possibly the thickest and richest ramen broth I've had. Noodles are good, with some bite to them. Portion is quite generous for price point. You get lots of pork slices on top too, though my one complaint is that they're a bit dry.
Jack — Google review
Straight forward, simple ramen. Noodle has nice texture. Shoyu ramen has strong dashi (Japanese seafood broth) flavor, in a pleasant way. Sesame ramen has very strong sesame paste flavor, almost like peanut butter. Gyoza is not bad. Overall, decent ramen for the price.

Came here on an early Saturday after an utter disappointment being told to wait in line for jinya at Telus garden. Ain't going to queue behind a rope and hostess with iPad to get into a ramen joint with half its seats available. On the other hand, Hida was complete joyous soupy, meaty, noodly goodness. Great and quick service by three girls behind the bowls! And what? You'll give both of us extra chashu eventhough one of us ordered the bonus? So for half the price we got double the meat AND service. I don't care it's in a food court area (open, bright and airy). I'll take it any day over the now no flow and all show at the other end of Robson.

They moved back from Kingsway but their menu has changed. Prices are higher but the meat is softer this time. The noodles taste as good as always. I think their shio ramen has improved this time around. Very underrated place , don't need to wait in line.

Deliciousness in a bowl. Lots of noodles, extra meat would be extra extra in most other places and the broth has distinct flavours depending on the soup base you choose. One of my favourite ramen experiences ever!

Good ramen with no MSG. The soup does not have a thick layer of oil like other places. It has the right amount of salt. The price is cheap. I have a big bowl noodle for only ten dollars. The mall has two hours free parking which is a bonus for the west end location.

First time visiting, once I walked into the store, the nicely smell of tonkotsu broth told me this would be a good experience. I ordered the Ebi miso ramen without hesitated, this flavor is very rare to see in Vancouver. If you’re looking for some unique ramen, here is the right place. The flavor of shrimp was so strong and definitely reached my satisfaction. The texture of their house made noodle is very match with the broth. The service was nice too. The environment is very cozy, and obviously this place has a good reputation.

I was lucky there was no line when I visited. I had the tan tan and chicken kararge as a side. Food came decently fast but as a honest review and I’ve had lots of tantam ramen but there was nothing special to write home about here. Noodles were cooked fine but the sauce was a bit bland and the flavour wasn’t all that special. Staff was very nice and friendly.

One of the first ramen restaurants we used to come to, but now there are more choices so we haven't been back as often. The shoyu ramen is pretty good and a good amount of ingredients (comes with spinach). Strongly suggest to choose lighter taste and less oil because regular taste is quite salty. The chicken kaarage is a bit dry. The chasu rice bowls are decent in terms of taste and quantity. Parking can get very busy here, so highly recommend to come when they open to not be frustrated.

The ramen here is tasty and perfect for the rainy season! You can customize your ramen by choosing your preferred noodle softness/hardness, the thickness of your soup base, and the amount of oil. I ordered the garlic miso ramen, while my partner got the miso ramen with extra eggs (hence the extra egg on mine). I opted for a lighter soup base, which was just right for my taste. The noodles were perfectly chewy, the pork meat was tender, and the toppings added a great touch. Plus, the portion size is generous, making it a great value. I’d definitely come back to try their other ramen dishes.
Ayienne Z — Google review
The ramen comes in decent portion sizes, and it's nice that the shoyu ramen comes with spinach, as opposed to the usual bean sprouts. The chicken karaage is on the dry side though. The side chashu dons (regular & spicy) are delicious, but they resemble more akin to pulled pork than chashu. And the size of the dons are smaller than I anticipated.
Edith W — Google review
I came after the recommendation of my coworker. I like this place. The ramen felt heartwarming, the pork was super tender, the broth was full of flavor. If I lived closer for sure I'd visit more.
Michael Z — Google review
I highly recommend the Garlic Miso Ramen. The broth is unbelievably tasty, and the garlic adds a wonderful warmth and kick without being overpowering. To make it a full feast, get a combo set. I paired my ramen with the Chashu Donburi, and it was the ideal match. The tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork belly on a bed of rice is the perfect companion to the hearty ramen. To round it all out, the Mango Soda is a must-try. After working up a sweat, that sweet, refreshing mango fizz is exactly what you need. It’s a great way to cool down and cleanse your palate between bites. The whole meal felt like the ultimate post-workout treat. If you’re looking for a top-notch Japanese noodle experience with delicious, rich soup and great side dishes, Yah-Yah-Ya is the place. You won't be disappointed!

Edited 2025: Our recent visit to this location was great! The food came out well, the place was clean, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. In order to avoid lineups, we went in early. We hope to return again - we really enjoyed the ramen especially the Ebimiso Ramen. 😋 - My first time at this location but I used to be a regular when they had a Robson store. The ramen and karaage we had were still so delicious, but I have to say, the service was slow and at times, non-existent. We waited a while, which was expected, but acknowledgement or some updated for wait time would have been nice, especially when there are multiple tables are readily available. I know how good this place can be. I hope service next time would be better.

Japanese restaurant
Dosanko Restaurant is a cozy Japanese eatery located in Strathcona, offering a fusion of traditional and innovative Yoshoku-style comfort food. The ambiance is laid-back and inviting, reminiscent of a grandmother's kitchen. The menu features classics like Tuna Tataki alongside inventive dishes such as the Beef Belly Katsu Sandwich and perfectly rolled Omurice. The interior exudes warmth with its dark wood decor and dim lighting, creating a welcoming atmosphere for diners.
My partner and I are from Toronto and went here for lunch because of the good reviews. I had the omurice with hayashi sauce and he had the omurice with curry sauce and both tasted amazing! I like how they cut open the omurice and pour on the sauce for you. Plus the waiter named Hikaru was super friendly! I even had a chance to practice my Japanese in a conversation with him. When we come back to Vancouver next time we'll definitely stop by again for that omurice. :) Edit: The dessert and the tea were also very good!! おいしかったです!

Solid value Japanese spot with a variety of options available for lunch and specials. Pricing is very competitive and the food is well made. It’s not in the greatest part of town, so look down when you walk. Overall, solid spot to get a quick bite for lunch. They also do serve alcohol, in case that’s something you’re looking for.
Andy C — Google review
The service was polite and nice, the place looks very nice, not the typical Japanese restaurant. but I was pretty disappointed with the food. All the photos on review looked amazing and looked high quality, but it wasn’t. I didn’t take any pictures of the rice under the egg in Omu-rice, but the veggies were cut poorly, and there were so many small black pieces in. Like the pan they used are not washed properly. I have seen those burnt stuff at a Mongolian grill when they keep using the same pan over and over again. I ended up picking some bigger size of the burnt pieces from the rice to eat. The scrambled egg was too buttery, didn’t taste egg enough. The Kastu was not bad, but nothing really special. The spring mix was very sad looking, not fresh at all. Not crunch, just warm green. The presentation wasn’t very good either. With those quality, the price for both were way over priced. Maybe we were just very unlucky, and the cook wasn’t in a good mood or something?

Was on our list for a while and glad we got to check it out! We ordered the curry rice, the tan tan men (special for the day/season?) and a crispy cheesy onigiri. The curry rice was unlike any other curry or Japanese curry specifically that I’ve ever had - when they said 40 ingredients, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was simple, straightforward and delicious - exactly what curry should be! The tan tan men was also incredible. Usually I don’t like how other variations are heavy with peanut sauce, but this was the perfect blend of the nutty peanut and mild chilli oil heat. The crispy cheesy onigiri was an impulse get - it was yummy, but certainly much saltier than I was anticipating! Overall a lovely dinner with great service and a hello from the chef. Definitely a hard neighborhood but it’s still worth a visit, especially with the free parking in the area. Will be back!
Rachel W — Google review
The moment I walked in, it felt like stepping into a different world. Maybe it’s just because I don’t usually visit this area, but the atmosphere really stood out. The food was solid all around—everything we ordered felt thoughtfully made. The chilled ramen had a nice chew to it and was especially refreshing, perfect for those hot summer days when you’re feeling a little run-down. If it were closer to home, I’d probably stop by more often. The location is the only real drawback.
Shuhei M — Google review
Japanese comfort food and it’s delicious. The cocktails are well made and nicely balanced. I had the Sake Sour and my husband had the Matcha Gin and Tonic and both were excellent. The food is well portioned, and the flavours and style make you feel like you’ve been invited to dinner at your Japanese neighbours’ home. The omurice is outstanding and executed perfectly. Also it’s a quarter of the price and just as good as the Michelin starred Kissa Tanto’s version down the street. We also had the Tan Tan Men noodles and we are so sad we left our to go box! The portions for the price is definitely a plus- we left stuffed. Great addition to the neighbourhood! We will be back!

Ramen Taka Richmond, located in the Aberdeen Centre, is known for its authentic Asahikawa-style ramen. The noodles are made without eggs and with minimal water, resulting in a perfect texture. Customers praise the flavorful broth and wide menu options. The ponzo chicken karaage comes highly recommended, as well as the garlic paiten shio ramen and flaming spicy miso ramen. The restaurant also offers a vegan option and provides QR codes for easy ordering.
Their Original Shoyu Hokkaido Ramen is very tasty. The soup is not too salty. Even better if they could offer options of adding toppings, and choosing firmness of the ramen.

Will definitely NOT come back ever. Came in for lunch with my daughter. We ordered ramen and karrage combo. The first serving of the karrage was still pink (see photo and you can also see the remaining 2 pieces on the plate), so our server offered to take the plate back and “remake one” for us. Later we were served a second plate, with one piece less. When asked why the portion was smaller, another server cut in and went “oh there are just 2 pieces of karrage for combo, your first serving had a small piece so we served 3 pieces”. I left it at that, but was not really impressed by the explanation as they clearly just ditched the piece that was pink, and re-fried the other two pieces served at first, didn’t bother to make up for the third piece at all. Food was mediocre, average ramen. There was no chopsticks nor napkins on the table where we were sitting, and I had to reach over to the customers sitting next to us to get chopsticks when first dish was served. Servers always had smiles on the faces but it doesn’t really mean anything if they can’t make it right for the customers.

Me and my children saw this place while walking in the mall and decided to grab a quick bite! The service and the cozy atmosphere made us feel very welcomed. As for the food, I ordered the original shoyu. The broth was very flavourful and the noodles were soft. The only comment that I had was that the meat was a tad bit chewy for my taste. Overall very good!

Ramen Takanotsume in Aberdeen Center is a gem for ramen lovers. Their Paitan Shoyu ramen is simply excellent, with a rich and flavorful broth that’s unforgettable. Meat lovers will delight in the Super Meat Lover ramen, which is generously packed with tender, juicy cuts. Vegans aren’t left out, as their outstanding vegan ramen offers a delicious, hearty option. Don’t miss the chicken karaage – it’s super crispy, tender, and a perfect side dish. The variety and quality of dishes make Ramen Takanotsume a must-visit spot for anyone craving top-notch ramen.

[Update: Nov 15, 2024] It's been over 1.5 years since we last dined here. Even though we live a 5-minute walking distance away, we only returned because someone on Facebook mentioned its $10 "Happy Hour Ramen." LOL! It turned out there are caveats to this deal: - Happy Hour Ramens do not come with eggs and only come with 1 Chashu. 🤣 No loss with the eggs here. It's not like they are Hot Spring Eggs, as they are so famously known to be offered in ramen shops in Japan. At best, they are Sous Vide eggs, which you can easily replicate with an air fryer if you don't have a Sous Vide stick. Just 3 to 5 minutes in an air fryer will give you something close to a Hot Spring or Sous Vide egg. We used to eat that for breakfast every morning before going to work. As for Chashu (see picture), it's slightly thicker than a potato chip. 😂🤭 Some things never changed: - Same amount as an instant noodle ramen. - Some ramens are spicy, but it is not mentioned in the menu. - As delicious as always, it reminds us of the ramen stalls in Osaka. See you in another 1.5 years or your next promotion, whichever comes first. . [Original post: 1.5 years ago] - the portion is laughable. I ate two bowls, and it was just right. Mind you, I am not a big eater. - expensive for the quantity. It's Japanese food. We were expecting the price but not the quantity. This place offered the most un-generous portion of all the ramen restaurants in the world we have ever tried. I swear I am not exaggerating. - both our bowls were spicy, but they are not labeled in the menu. Wife can not stand the tiniest bit of chili, gave me her bowl as well. I ate both bowls and they were just enough - very delicious. If only they could be more generous, we would definitely call this home as we love Japanese food, especially ramen and sushi.

We went there early for lunch since they always seem to be busy. We got seated, scanned the QR code and put the order in on our phones. The food arrived quite quicky and it tasted absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. The downside is the portions were very tiny. It's pretty much the same size as what you would get if you bought a $2 bag of instant noodles. I will definitely go back to try the different flavors since the one we had were really good, but not on a consistent basis. It's not worth the price you pay

Damso Modern Korean Restaurant is a cozy and contemporary cafe that specializes in serving artfully presented, modestly sized Korean dishes. The restaurant takes a unique and innovative approach to Korean cuisine, offering a blend of traditional and creative dishes. Notable menu highlights include the outstanding Korean fried chicken, flavorful pork belly, refreshing lettuce wraps, and inventive Korean tacos. With its small size and limited seating, opting for take-out or delivery may be the best choice.
This is my fourth time coming to Damso Korean and it never disappoints! The pork belly is always flavorful and perfectly cooked. I finally tried the tteokbokki rose this time—wow, SO good. Creamy, spicy, and super comforting. Also had the kimchi tofu soup, which hit the spot—warm, rich, and full of flavor. The food is consistently amazing and the vibes are always great. Definitely one of my go-to spots for Korean comfort food in dt Vancouver!

The best Korean food ever I had in Vancouver even better than what I had in Korea. I highly recommend Korean short ribs and seafood bibimbap. These are soooo good. The staffs here are so nice and charming. I'm deeply impressed by their customer service.

Tried the bibimnaengmyun (spicy cold noodles) and it must have been an off day, because it was pretty bad. The noodles were clumped and overcooked, the cucumbers were past their prime—almost slimy—and the sauce was an unappetizing orange with little flavor. I’ve enjoyed Damso before, but this was a real disappointment.

Nestled on West Broadway, Benkei Ramen Noodle Shop is a charming neighborhood gem that serves up authentic ramen and classic Japanese dishes. This cozy spot is renowned for its Spicy Akaoni bowl, which features pan-fried minced pork in a rich broth infused with sesame and roasted garlic oil—truly an unforgettable experience! The homemade broth has garnered rave reviews, making it a must-try for any noodle lover.
Finally we made it! Pretty far from home but we'll, kinda sad that they'll close permanently in a day. We loved all our ramen noodles, so delicious! The girls loved their chicken. Really good and fast service even they were really busy. And thanks to let us in! Many menus i really wanted to try but we can't make it before they close down. Anyway, all the best for the retirement!

This spot is amazing! They had the freshest dumplings I’ve ever had. I wasn’t a big fan of the noodles - they seemed to be on the lower end of the tier, however the broth was phenomenal and it made up for the noodle quality.

I was pretty excited to try this place as it looks very hype. The prices were okay, since it's downtown. The service however, was disappointing. Though it was very packed, the elderly waitress had an unhappy face the entire time. I immediately didn't feel welcome. When we were ordering our food, a younger waitress came and she was nicer, even with the busy hour. The ramen itself was delicious. However, it proved to be too salty since that entire evening I kept drinking lots and lots of water because I was so thirsty. The sodium in these ramen are definitely too high.

This has always been our family’s go-to ramen restaurant! It’s nothing fancy but it’s got delicious and real Japanese cooking. The noodle, even though not made in store has always been the right tenderness. The broth is rich and flavourful. The service is top notched. The price is very reasonable. If you haven’t tried here yet you got to give it a shot!

Benkei Ramen is located on West Broadway, which is 5 minutes away from the Broadway City Hall Skytrain Station. Noodles are my favorite. I love to try/eat different kinds of noodles. I’ve been to Benkei Ramen with my best friend around the lunch time. It was my first time having ramen noodles at this place. The ramen here was surprisingly delicious. The soup base had very strong flavor. The ramen noodles tasted very fresh and soft. The eggs in ramen soup were tasty. The portion was bigger than I expected. The combo also came with a small bowl of rice. It was tasty too. The service here was great. The server took the order fast and served hot drinks. The food came fast and fresh. There are lots of people here around lunch and dinner time, so I highly recommend people do not come to this place right on lunch and dinner time. You have to wait in line for a while. In summary, It was a great experience at Benkei Ramen. I love it.
Belinda J — Google review
The service is very enthusiastic. Food is not bad but I like how this place is cozy. I find the soup base to be lighter and not as oily. The Chasu is usually cooked alright. I never had a chewy or hard piece of meat here. I like how they have a stamp card too!
Sylvia L — Google review
The tori-shio ramen is a relatively clean-simple taste that leans slightly on the salty side. Chewy firm noodles topped with bamboo shoots, chives, spinach, and two lean chicken breast cutlets. If you're in for something less salty, try the miso. The chashu rice is very tasty and free for the re-opening today. The rice tastes like a sweet soya sauce topped with lean chashu pork neat and chives. Recommend accepting the garlic mayo sauce, a little too smooth out the flavor. Coming in right as the door opens at 11am is not so busy. Gets really busy at lunch here as this restaurant is known for quality food and service in a very central area. Inside are 7 group tables and 1 large communal style hook shaped table (mostly for single patrons). Today (Nov 15, 2017) their card machine is not working, so bring cash. The kitchen is sort of noisy since it's open to the rest of the restaurant. The music level / volume is on the moderate side. Talking to each other will require a bit of elevated vocals. Accessible direct from Canada Line train station and bus stop out front. Parking is very limited in this area. If driving, best bet is to park a couple blocks away (Southeast; 2 hour street parking; if you're lucky) and walk over.

This spot specializes in Asahikawa-style ramen and offers an array of broths and toppings to satisfy any craving. After taking over from The Ramenman, the restaurant underwent a complete renovation that enhanced its ambiance with stylish decor while maintaining cozy seating options.
Amazing ramen in a back halley. Get out of Robson street and their over priced a d over full restaurant. This restaurant is tiny but the service is great and fast. Nice and simple decor make you feel relax in a different country. One long table where everyone eat together a d couple small one too. I tryied the pork was amazing a d tender. I also took the truffle ramen with real sliced truffle on top. It was not a traditional ramen that you can expect but it tasted so good and the noodles were perfectly cooked too. I will go back in a heart beat.

Nice environment, it’s nice and casual. The ramen is good, good quality, good taste (not amazing). Very earthy and rich flavour but nothing out of extraordinary. I’ll go again but it’s not on my top 5 ramen places. What I did liked is that they have a VEGAN option, so any vegans looking for ramen places: this one is for you.
Susana C — Google review
Ordered their vegan ramen here, even though they’re not known for this. I would say I’ve had better vegan ramen elsewhere as the soup is a bit lacklustre. Their appetizers are amazing though. And if you come during the weekday in the afternoon (3pm-5pm), there’s happy hour (30% off) for all the items on the menu.

Super yummy ramen! I had the shoyu ramen which I normally never get but it was recommended and I didn’t regret it one bit. One of my new favourite ramen spots. The flavours are very strong in a great way. Wasn’t spicy at all but my girlfriend got the miso ramen and it was also very good but a bit spicy. The broth was thick, the pork was dry and delicious in a good way, and had nice chucks of bamboo in it. Cute outdoor seating and the nicest bathroom I’ve seen in a while. With a bidet! Not too expensive but the portions are not as big as some ramen places. The owner came to our table as was very friendly with good recommendations. Nice location as well. Will be back!

Went there for the first time during happy hours. 30% off everything. Order two different shoyu soup base and both are outstanding. Wife likes the white pork bone soup based ramen. It's got a little bit hint of spicy to it. And she loves it. I prefer the plain soup base because it is just as good. We also ordered gyoza as well. Gyoza was pan fried perfectly. Fillings were nice, skin were thin and over all excellent. Ramen itself has a lot of flavor to the soup. Not overly salty in my own opinion, just right amount of everything. Noodle itself was firm not over cooked. Just the way I like it. Egg was done properly. Chausu was mostly lean but not too dry and fatty part balance it out. Over all its a bowl of awesomeness. Happy hour price just made it superb value for what we got. Waitress was attentive and asked if we were first time there and which one do we like better. We told her everything were excellent and we liked what we ordered. I am glad it's opening another location in Richmond alberdeen center. Since it's close to us and I can see it will be packed if they offer happy hours there. Credit card friendly and we got lucky on parking for this one.

To keep this short and sweet. Ramen Taka is perhaps the best ramen restaurant in Vancouver. If you appreciate soup, then you'll appreciate the multi-layered experience of this soup. The first sip will make you say wow and then the second you'll start to notice the dimensions of it. The only thing to keep in mind is that they serve their pork lean and only lean. Besides that, their broths are truly one of a kind and it is a MUST TRY. Also try their chicken karaage because it's light and their batter is close to something like churches chicken. 99% bar seating only so try not to come in with a big group.
Billy L — Google review
I came here for lunch. I read about bad and good reviews on Yelp, but I did have higher expectation on their ramen. This ramen restaurant used to be The Ramenman. After Ramen Taka took over, they renovated the restaurant and changed the interior design completely. The ambience and interior look good. They kept the high bar table in the middle of the restaurant and two smaller tables inside. They replaced the chairs to suit the interior design. I ordered the Supreme Dragon (Miso) ramen. It had a blend of several miso in the broth. It tasted great. It lost a star, because the broth had too much lard/oil. I felt like every single spoon of noodle was soaked in oil. If I knew there was so much oil, I would have asked for "half" of the lard instead of a full amount. The ramen came with half of a soft boiled egg. The soft boiled egg was not the best that I had better ones somewhere else. However, I liked the chashu. There was no fat at all and it was not too dry! That was awesome! I don't like chashu with LOTS of fat. Some ramen places don't care about people's health and serve fatty chashu! Pricing was reasonable and customer service was good. All the servers were friendly. I am not sure if all the servers are Japanese or from other Asian countries, but one seems her English is not good. She took customers' orders (next to our table) incorrectly or she did not know how to explain to the customers. Customers had frustration to get the ramen correctly. Maybe this ramen restaurant is still new. After we paid the bill, a server brought some small gifts to our table (or customers). We could choose from the following options: a pair of wooden chopsticks, a chopstick stand, and a pin with the restaurant logo. We chose the chopsticks as we could use them at home. I would recommend others to try this ramen restaurant. I would still say this ramen restaurant is above average. I hope their business continues to grow and go well and stay competitive in the market.

I went there for their spicy ramen challenge... an unfortunately I failed because I did not finish all of the soup... The ramen is really spicy but I love that!!! My friend ordered the original ramen with pork and she was surprised by the big portion... the price is reasonable but one suggestion is about the pork since it is too dry... anyway... I will definitely go there again for the spicy ramen!

Nestled in the heart of Yaletown, The Ramenman is a hidden gem that offers an array of ramen dishes featuring diverse broths and toppings, alongside delightful Japanese appetizers. Although it has moved from its original location on Ramenland to Davie St., this cozy spot maintains an air of exclusivity. The standout feature here is their Kansai-style chicken broth, which can be enjoyed in both rich and clear options.
Come for the smooth broth, with a miso broth so smooth, I honestly think that here is cream as a base! The goods not to bad, but the taste is more modern, rather then traditional ramen. The karaage and gyzoza where a hit, but the sauce was more of a miss for both. Food is filling and as expected, bring the salt tolerance.
Alvin W — Google review
Karaage is standard, but around 1 dollor per piece in rather small size. Ordered regular and friend had Shio ramen. Regular's broth is rich but not too greasy. I asked for extra chili pepper topping, but didn't taste any in the order. Same with the garlic. I liked the lotus chips in the Shio ramen, but the ramen itself is average. The chicken chashu is tender, but not much flavour. Pork chashu was dry. Pricing is fair considering the location.

Passed by this place a couple of times before deciding to give it a try. From the outside, it looked a little run down. The gyoza was excellent and the ramen pretty good. I had the clam flavored ramen and it was light and creamy. I would have preferred a thicker cut for the pork but it worked well with the soup and was good cold when served as an appetizer.
Bernardo S — Google review
They have moved the location. The ramen is home made fresh noodle and the toppings are unique and good. Vegetarian friendly, or vegan, ask to remove the egg. Only 1 washroom in the store, about 20-23 seats total. The kitchen are open. Servers are quiet but are assertive. Good for quick bite, with friends.

New ramen place. Friendly service, reasonable priced. I tried the clam ramen today which is pretty unique compared to other ramen places. They are chicken broth focused so the broth won’t be as rich as tonkatsu style broths. Tip: go during lunch to get a free serving of noodles or rice.

Amazing ramen, fast service. Tasted great! We came in and lunch, where there is a special that you receive an order of rice or half order of extra noodles for free with your ramen. Great service; I'll definitely be coming been

I was greeted by a a cheerful host/server. Two other staff are working in their open kitchen. The space is small, 20 seats. They have one vegetarian ramen (miso). All other dishes are not vegetarian/vegan. They were playing 80s music 🎵 🎶 🎼 but it got too much. I didn’t feel that I could relax and eat/enjoy my ramen.

My new favourite ramen spot. Small cosy place and good service. I like that they use chicken as their base for the broth. They also have a vegetarian ramen. The clam ramen is a must try

Ramen restaurant
Menya Juemon is a popular spot for ramen enthusiasts, offering a cozy setting and a menu focused on traditional yet refined ramen. Their Truffle Shoyu Ramen, featuring a rich soy-based broth infused with the delicate aroma of truffle, is highly praised. Customers appreciate the beautifully presented and flavorful food, although some wished for more salt in the ramen and additional sauce options. The restaurant's cleanliness and attentive staff are also noted.
New ramen restaurant around the Cambie area. The restaurant was clean, and the staff were attentive and kind. They also sell grab and go onigiri near the entrance. We ordered the Shoyu ramen and JJ ramen in small sizes. I think they make homemade soup and chashu; the soup was flavorful, and the chashu was tender. Just a small suggestion: the temperature of the ramen soup could be hotter. It wasn't hot enough even from the first sip, and I'm sure the taste would be even better if it were warmer! Overall, I'm satisfied and will visit again someday!
Zoey L — Google review
We stopped by here because there was a sign out front advertising onigiri, however once we went inside we were told that was not available yet. As we satiating our food there were at least 20 other people drawn in by the onigiri sign but left once they found out it wasn’t available. We decided to take a look at the menu and settled on the small bowls of curry and some gyoza. The curry tasted like it was out of a bag and like the curry you would buy at a Japanese grocery store in ready made packages. It tasted of preservatives and was not good. The gyoza took over 15 minutes to be made and was again not good. It tasted like frozen gyoza out of a bag. We thought maybe we just made some poor menu choices and we didn’t try the ramen, which was their specialty. It’s a franchise store with this location being the first location to open. It’s very well designed and there appeared to be many Japanese workers. I would expect a better food quality from a Japanese restaurant, but this place is like airport food. The store front looks great, but the food leaves you wishing you just hadn’t visited. I won’t be back.

Very nice Jiro ramen. It’s a bit disappointing that it is not customizable like the original style, but good nonetheless for what it is supposed to be: huge thick fatty chashu, a pile of vegetables, and salty thick broth. I would have liked an option to add extra garlic. I have also come in and had their morning onigiri several times. Very good for the value, but damn, all the onigiri music even a few minutes in the store is so headache inducing. Feel sorry for the staff.

Food was presented beautifuly and was very flavourful although I wished for slightly move salt flavour in the ramen. Beautiful amount of spice but would have been nice to have some additional sauce options for the table (chilli oil, chilli paste, etc). I felt very nourished after eating the soup. Also had the pork gyoza - absolute flavour bomb! Would have preferred a glass cup over plastic for water. Restaurant is very nice and would love to return at night for dinner and an even better ambience. Service was excellent, checked to make sure my ramen wasn't too spicy, water refilled without asking, door held open when I was leaving. Highly recommend and will visit again!

Tried the ramen at this place – it's decent, not mind-blowing, but certainly enjoyable. The standout, however, is the excellent service; the staff really goes the extra mile. On the downside, the prices are a bit steep for what you get. While the quality is there, it doesn't quite justify the higher cost. If they could find a sweet spot in pricing, it would be a more attractive option. Overall, a good experience, but the wallet took a bit of a hit.

By far the best ramen restaurant I've tried! Food: Umami Shoyu Ramen ($18.5) - the 4-ingredient (pork, chicken, fish, mushroom) broth was well seasoned and rich in flavour. The chashu was soft and tender. The thick ramen was cooked to perfection with perfect texture. Mentai Don (Ramen Combo price $6, original price $9.5) - huge piece of mentai on top of warm rice. Just the right portion to pair with the gyozas. Although the mentai gives a strong fish flavour, it's not unpleasant at all. Very delicious! Mushroom Gyoza ($9.5 for 6) - the best dish we ordered. The gyozas were crispy on the outside and the texture of the filling was great. The mushroom filling had a hint of truffle flavor and when paired with truffle salt, they're delicious! Service: All the servers were very friendly. They took the extra mile to introduce the menu, and gave recommendations on the signature items. They also asked us how things were going throughout our meal. 10/10 good service. Give this restaurant a try! You won't regret it. Edit: Came here a second time and was greeted by the very enthusiastic waiters and waitresses! We were given complimentary appetizers (fried noodles and marinated clams) and they were very delicious! Too bad that those appetizers aren't on the menu. This time we ordered the premium shoyu ramen, and it didn't disappoint! Definitely a good choice if you're very hungry. Ordered the mushroom gyoza and pork gyoza and while both are crispy and delicious, I prefer the mushroom option due to its more unique taste. Will definitely come very often in the future!

Their shiro shoyu (white soy sauce) with thick noodles was absolutely delicious! Being a Japanese chef myself, I’m so glad Vancouver has another traditional Japanese ramen joint! Portion may be smaller than other places but for those who appreciate quality over quantity, this IS the real deal. Also ordered their Spinach Gomaae, Spicy Wonton, Scallop & Pork Shumai and Mentaiko Don. All top notch! Menya Juémon deserves my thumbs up!

We were the first two customers who went to this ramen shop once they opened on Saturday. A server with smile seated us right away. I told him this was our first time to come here for ramen and looked forward to trying their signature dishes. He was eager to introduce their menus and the dishes. The server also asked us to follow the ramen shop on Instagram so we could get one free item for the meals. I got a piece of chicken kaarage and my husband got a cold brewed oolong tea for free. Both of them were good. Both of us ordered the JJ ramen. One of them was large and the other one was small. I got the small bowl but I still felt it was a big bowl for me. I had to pack some home 🤗 Overall the service was excellent as the server was very friendly and checked in with us on the food while we were eating. The pricing was reasonable and portion of the dishes was decent. I would recommend others to come if they have never tried this ramen shop. The flavour was pretty good and unique comparing to others. Only one thing that I am not sure if the ramen shop can be improved was the sodium or broth. We were very thirsty after having the meals here. Other than that, everything was good!

Izakaya restaurant
Nestled on Robson Street, Gyoza King is a vibrant izakaya that specializes in unique Japanese tapas and handmade dumplings. This charming eatery has been a local favorite since its inception, offering an authentic taste of Japan in a cozy booth setting. Known for its late-night hours, Gyoza King remains bustling even after 1 AM, making it the perfect spot for night owls craving delicious bites.
Takoyaki (lots of bonito flakes on top) and karaage were good. The draft beer was really fresh. Service was fast and attentive. I havent tried food from the main course section but I'd be back for sure. I like the ambiance. It felt completely genuine.

Quaint little place with some great offerings. Decent selection of Asian beer and alcohol. The retro look is very noticeable from the moment you enter. Be sure to try the chicken skewers. I'd surely go back.

I'm writing this review from the restaurant I have been here 20 min no order taken. No water. There are 17 customers and 4 staff that I can see. Finally after so long I finally gave up. And ordered water my self after 25 min. And asked them if they were going to come and takey order. $4.50 for a bowl of kimchi(wtf).

Gyoza King is amazing! They have the best gyoza. Beef yukke. Omg beef yukke! Raw beef marinated in yukke sauce topped with a raw quail egg. It is to die for! Also the review by Eri is very inaccurate. There gyoza are hand made by the owners mother who I believe is in her 80s. Store bought my ass.

I ordered chopped tuna on rice, it was pretty much the sashimi on rice, I found out a big fish bone that could pierce my throat from the rice. Foods are bad as hell, it is a shame they call themselves 'Goyza King' by selling some Japanese dumplings that we can find from any Japanese grocery stores.
Zhenglin H — Google review
Great Japanese place. Although their main selling item is gyoza, most items here are good and delicious. They serve various kinds of gyoza and you simply must give them a try.
Jack C — Google review
Super delicious, authentic, Japanese food. This place gets overlooked frequently when walking on Robson, and it's probably far better than any of the places with lines down the block.
Sean E — Google review
From the mackerel to the Don Buri, nothing on our table was fresh. This is not the same Gyoza King that opened years ago. This place has changed hands and the quality has gone down the drain.
