Mari Vanna, located in Baku, is a charming Russian restaurant that offers a nostalgic dining experience. The menu features traditional home-cooked Russian dishes like dumplings, borscht, and beef stroganoff alongside more modern options. The cozy interior is adorned with vintage decor such as old books and a Russian stove, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of Soviet-era Russia.
If you are in Baku anytime, plzzzz don't miss this restaurant. This is one of the best places we had our lunch. The interior itself is so inviting. Russian style place with beautiful antique decor. The menu is also very different. But you will love it. Must to be visited in Baku

Excellent atmosphere and amazing food. It's definitely a place to experience when in Baku do try their black garlic bread. That was something interesting and unique. Also tried their pepper vodka which is definitely a must try if you want to get a good buzz. Very date night worthy place. Highly recommend.
Arpan B — Google review
The restaurant is well decorated, with food above average and nicely presented. Mr. Numan, the waiter, is very professional, friendly, and helpful. Without him, I might have given only 3 stars for this restaurant, mainly because of the chef, who rewound my steak. I ordered it medium well, but he cooked it as well done. The restaurant is expensive, but considering the location, atmosphere, and service apart from the chef, it's worth trying.
R M — Google review
Loved the atmosphere! Me and my friends gathered together to celebrate a birthday (we were 6 people). Staff were nice, so polite. The only thing that i didnt like was that we waited about half an hour for our meal to arrive, but imo it was worth it. Its a great place if you like Russian cuisine.
Lala — Google review
This is one of my absolutely favorite restaurants in Baku! If you’re craving Russian food, this is the right place to go. The restaurant is located in the center of Baku; it’s easy to find, and its location is very convenient. The restaurant is beautifully designed in a traditional Russian style, with plenty of cute authentic details like decor elements, pictures, sculptures; and even the waiters wear traditional Russian-style uniforms and aprons. Aesthetically, this restaurant is just PERFECTION – even down to the beautiful plates they serve the food on. I also love the Russian music they usually play; it’s always at the right volume, so you can easily talk if you’re visiting with someone. The restaurant has a large indoor area with several different dining rooms, plus an outdoor section – perfect for hanging out when the Baku weather is nice and warm. All kinds of tables are available, and I especially love that many tables have very comfortable soft sofa chairs. The staff here are always extremely polite, friendly, and sweet. I’ve visited the restaurant many times, and not a single waiter has ever been rude or impolite.Of course, everyone speaks Russian here, but their English is also good. The restaurant’s menu is large and includes all the traditional and famous Russian dishes, plus a few international options. There’s also an English version of the menu, which is a big plus. I’ve tried many items over time – Siberian pelmeni (Russian beef dumplings), chicken schnitzel, chicken Kiev cutlet, draniki with mushrooms, pirozhki with various fillings, Russian Olivier salad, Caesar salad, burger, and more. Honestly: I have never had bad food! All the dishes were always freshly made and super delicious! But if I had to pick a combo that always makes me happy, it’s Olivier salad with Siberian beef pelmeni. These two go perfectly together and make just the right amount of food to feel full. By the way, the portion sizes at Mari Vanna are just right – generous but not wasteful, nothing too small or overly large. The restaurant offers a nice dessert selection. I’ve personally tried three: Kyiv cake, honey-sour cream cake, and Napoleon cake. All three were extremely delicious! The restaurant also has a great variety of soft drinks, and I especially love their lemonades with different flavors. My favorites are the tarragon lemonade and the tropical lemonade. I also love ordering mors and kompot. When I come for dinner, I sometimes order their thyme tea – its flavor is fantastic! By the way, most of the drinks are available in different sizes. There is also a kids’ menu available, and I’ve noticed many families with children here. I also love that the restaurant sells its own frozen food, like pelmeni and vareniki to take home. Prices at Mari Vanna are on the higher side but still reasonable for the excellent food quality and the overall wonderful experience at the restaurant. For example, my lunch with a starter or salad, a main dish, and a drink usually comes to around $25. When I come for dinner, my check is usually around $35 for the same items plus a dessert. The restaurant accepts all major credit cards and Apple Pay. Free Wi-Fi is also available here – just ask your waiter for the password. Based on my experience, the restaurant is usually busy no matter the time, so better make a reservation! Whether you’re visiting Baku or simply looking for Russian food in the city, I strongly recommend checking out Mari Vanna. Trust me, you’ll have a fantastic experience and remember this place forever!

Nice food, acceptable service. When I found out that I couldn't order what I wanted due to allergy, I was proposed one of the most expensive positions in the menu and not very relevant to what I wanted. But the atmosphere is nice and the food was quite tasty.
Alexandra A — Google review
The atmosphere here is incredible – an eclectic, overdesigned Russian restaurant where every single corner is carefully curated. The space is huge, vibrant, and full of character. We were a group of five and shared many dishes. To start, we each had a shot of vodka infused with blackberry and raspberry, followed by two bottles of plain vodka enjoyed in small glasses with plenty of toasts. Between courses, the house pickles were excellent and refreshing. For food, we tried foie gras and a charcuterie plate – tasty, though not the highlight for me. The Russian salad and the beetroot salad, on the other hand, were absolutely delicious. To finish, we shared Napoleon and Medovik cakes, both of which were excellent and a perfect ending to the meal.

We came here for dinner with friends for the second time. The atmosphere was perfect. Even though the place was quite crowded, the orders arrived very quickly. The kievski and manti were delicious, thank you.

Düşbərə (Dushbara) Restaurant offers a unique take on meat dumplings, similar to momo or gyoza, with the Azerbaijani twist of serving them in a smaller size and in a flavorful broth. The restaurant is known for its delicious and well-presented dishes, with particular praise for the lamb options. Guests appreciate the affordable prices compared to other similar establishments in the area without compromising on quality.
Very nice place with good food and beautiful presentation. All the dishes were great I especially liked the lamb dish. Prices are also very affordable compared to other similar places in the area and quality is better. The Chef also speaks english and can recommend and explain dishes which I found helpful.

Located in the heart of Baku city, Cafe City Fountain is a newly opened cafe at fountain square. It offers a modern and comfortable ambiance with reasonable prices for gourmet food, drinks, and cocktails. The menu features a diverse range of European and Central European cuisine, including options for vegans and those with gluten-free dietary preferences. With its outdoor seating area, it's an ideal spot to unwind after a day of exploring the city.
Amazing food quality. In winter, definitely try Arishta. I had the beef langet with house style potatoes, which was quite delicious. Also a great place just to have a cup of tea and work for some time with a great view of Baku! Cafe city menu is big, that is the only thing I don’t like. Too many choices.

We had a wonderful morning at Cafe City Fountain, where we were warmly welcomed by a staff member with a kind smile and a professional, respectful attitude. We ordered breakfast for two and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and the high quality of the food — everything was delicious and fresh. One of the dishes didn’t suit our taste, and it was kindly replaced without hesitation. Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to the restaurant management for their hospitality and excellent service. May God bless them and grant them continued success.

I had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at CafeCity in Baku, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, healthy, and very affordable, making it a great choice for breakfast lovers. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy, and the hospitality of the staff was remarkable — friendly and welcoming throughout the meal. One of the highlights of the breakfast was the freshness and taste of the dishes. Every item was carefully prepared, and the flavors were on point. From the fluffy eggs to the side of freshly baked bread and assorted dairy products, everything was just perfect. Additionally, the coffee was excellent, complementing the meal beautifully. Overall, if you're in Baku, I highly recommend giving CafeCity a try for a delightful and budget-friendly breakfast. You won’t be disappointed!
Saleh M — Google review
If you are a tourist the best time to come is breakfast it tends to not be as crowded with much more pleasant atmosphere. Great breakfast choices. Try to avoid later hours for it does get pack here and be mindful of locals they will stare at you while you eat if you are in an interracial relationship. The 2nd time we came here for brunch was absolutely uncomfortable 😣 they sat us next to a table of four local females who constantly were turning around looking at us in disbelief of being together and through language similarities to Turkish they made comments of me being in my current relationship for money. Although I work in healthcare and not the case. We understand restaurants have no control of clients but when our waiter participated in the conversation also chiming it was absolutely disheartening to hear xenophobic and colorist remarks about my fiancée.

QAZMAQ is a charming restaurant located in the Old City of Baku, offering a cozy terrace and a focus on national cuisine. The menu boasts a variety of hearty breakfasts, kebabs, pilaf, shekerbura, and baklava. Guests have praised the pleasant service and delicious dishes. Some have also enjoyed the live music that starts later in the day.
I can’t share any of the bad ratings. Maybe because there were not many guests when I went here. Anyway, our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food that we shared was absolutely amazing, hot, fresh, flavourful. We didn’t wait long. I recommend the saj. I will bring my entire family here!

It's quite an okay restaurant at the old city Baku.. the portion of food was quite less and the prices are quite high. The service is also very average. The ambience is very good.
Fatema H — Google review
When we went to the restaurant we were welcomed very warmly with the staff speaking certain Hindi words knowing we are Indian. Food and everything was served properly. We had asked them for normal water, they placed the water in a jug (approx 500ml water) and never mentioned that it is paid. When we want for the billing they charged us 5 Manat for 500ml water. This is loot considering the charge of water exceeded than that of food.

Delicious fresh food and efficient service ! The one who served us Elvin was good at advising the food ! Highly recommended l.

AVOID! They tried to charge me nearly double for my meal thinking I wouldn’t notice. I challenged this and faced some resistance, they then claimed it was a pricing error on the menu and insisted I paid the higher price. Completely unacceptable and I suggest avoiding these thieves.
The S — Google review
It was the worse thing we ever had in our life we paid more than what it deserves. The service was absolutely shit and the people were so slow we ordered 4 different things and we had to wait for each other finish the food. I don’t recommend at all !
Gamze A — Google review
Tried to scam me into paying 2 times what I ordered. Then as usual using language barrier as an excuse to adjust bill by $2 and providing an overly inflated bill. In the end I had to ask them to check camera to see that i ordered only 2 dishes and not 4 (not applying sense that how can a couple eat 2 lamb steaks and 2 beef steaks). Wasted 30 minutes our time and made me and my wife very uncomfortable. Dont go if you are a tourist

Wow place we check the reviews and find this place around old baku by walk from nizami wallah beautiful view while going Our family had breakfast in Qala Divari. We like about this restaurant that bread came directly from stove. Very hot and soft bread yummy watermelon jams butter honey omelet everything is very nice salmani tea with love cherries yummy and tender The staff shared that they have their own farmers bringing meat and veggies every day, so every ingredient in fresh and organic. Very nice and friendly staff here very helpful can speak English well very yummy. Keep it up! And all the best

Ate here four times during our visit to Baku. The absolute best bread we’ve ever had. Hummus was fresh and outstanding. Atom is a Turkish yogurt dip, atom being short for atomic because it is a little spicy but amazing on the bread. Worth the wait if there is a line to get in. No reservations so just be patient.
Steve W — Google review
Came here for breakfast. Simple designed restaurant with good location within the old city. Ordered multiple foods: gurza, dorma, chicken, gutab, omelette, and others. All the foods were delicious with balanced taste. Our favorite was perhaps the gutab, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Black tea was refreshing, too. The foods were simple in both taste and presentation. There was not much wow-factor. Staff were polite and friendly (especially the uncle with full beard). Prices were affordable.

Perfect service, excellent food, and great atmosphere! Really outstanding food especially the lamb in pomegranate juice and the crisp eggplant salad! Thanks guys, this was a great evening!
Philip E — Google review
This restaurant is located in the Baku old city along with a string of other restaurants. I selected the place based on the Google reviews and was not disappointed. The knowledge of the local language and the local food would undoubtedly make for a better dining experience. However, despite not knowing either, I managed. Ordered the lamb stuffed dolma and the lamb bbq. It is on the pricy side, guys it is the symptom of being in such a central location. Service took time, but it was OK. It would be helpful if the serving staff took an active role in suggesting what to try, however maybe it was due to the language barrier. While they have a couple of vegetarian options, the place is more suited for meat lovers. Overall would recommend the place.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful sushi experience, Sushi Room Baku is your go-to destination. Nestled in the heart of Baku's historical center, this charming eatery boasts an impressive array of sushi options, including futomaki, uramaki, and nigiri. For those looking to share with friends or family, the Ebimania set paired with a Mini Flaqman set makes for a perfect choice. The ambiance is inviting and complements their menu well.
Excellent service, decent sushi, good prices. I can only recommended the introduction of a few more seafood only sushi sets to the mix, the current selection often includes some rolls with chicken and if one does not eat chicken, it becomes harder to pick such sets. The drink selection can be improved too but it is hardly necessary for a place of this kind. Definitely recommended.
Mustafa K — Google review
It’s just cream cheese stuffed dry rice rolls. It We ordered 3 different types of sushi and nigiri. Even the soya sauce and wasabi couldn’t improve it because it tasted like nothing. Waste of money… How did they get so many 5 stars ??? I had all types of sushi around the world. But this was truly the worst. Baku has actually awesome restaurants specially for sushi.
Aras V — Google review
They were serving only sushi but no soups or udon. Although last two were also on the menu. Sushi and fries were good.

Great sushi. Very good quality sushi. Fresh They have cooked and raw. Both are great 👍. Great service. Clean. Great value 👏 👌 Definitely recommend 👌
Miad H — Google review
The people are very nice, and kind. Food took 45 minutes, and everything is with cheese. If you have some sort of standard for sushi, then it's very very far off. Im not saying it to hurt the business, but to save you the experience. In Baku the best food is the local one.
Ron A — Google review
Everything was great. The service was excellent. I really liked Philadelphia. The rice was cooked correctly, and the roll did not fall apart. The tom yam was moderately spicy and tasty. If it is possible, I will definitely return to this restaurant!
Sergei Z — Google review
Strolled into Sushi Room with my hopes as high as the Flame Towers, ready for a culinary adventure in the land of 4.9 stars. Left with my hopes a bit more akin to the Maiden Tower—still standing, but a little weathered. Let's talk about it. The vegan set, with its 24 pieces, felt like an ode to the many shades of... well, the same flavor. It was as if they were playing a game of 'Guess the Ingredient,' with the avocado impersonating a rock in a grand performance. Spoiler: the rock won. The hot salmon roll, however, was the hero we didn't know we needed. A delicious plot twist in our dining saga, creative and well-crafted, like a piece of art you can eat. But alas, where was the tea? A sushi place without tea is like Baku without its winds—just doesn't feel quite right. In the grand tapestry of dining experiences, Sushi Room is a vibrant thread. Not perfect, but adds to the rich pattern. So, with a touch of generosity, we're casting our vote for a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Cheers to the sushi that rocked and rolled its way into our hearts (and our critiques).
Ruben D — Google review
Nice cozy atmosphere, we tried sushi set there. The taste is good, but I liked maybe 80% of sushi, not all) Rolls with crab stick is so weird tbh 🥴 in -1 floor people were smoking and it’s not good thing for such closed area. Also would be great if they had some green teas in the menu !

Berlin Döner at Ganjlik Mall I had a great experience at Berlin Döner in Ganjlik Mall. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, with generous portions that hit the spot. The döner was perfectly seasoned, and the ingredients tasted high-quality. The service was quick, making it a great option for a satisfying meal during a shopping break. Definitely worth a visit if you're at the mall! Rating: 4.5/5

Today I ordered doner from the ganclik mall berlin doner through bolt food. I have never eaten doner as tastyless as like this one before. Doner only consisted of mayonaise and salad. The bread had been torn of mayonaise. there were no meat despite of it is not cheap. For this kind of doner I wouldn't even pay 1 azn.
Ozal Z — Google review
Don't let the 3.0 rating fool you! I had the Berlin Döner at Fountains Square, and it was absolutely incredible—the best I've ever tasted. It appears the lower rating is due to negative experiences at a different, mall-based location. The Fountains Square branch is a must-try.

This is an excellent place for tourists and people who live in Baku. I had an amaizng time and dinner here. Definitely would recommend this place for everyone. Great service and very great food.

Cant say we liked it. everything is average but the staff behavior that is the worst. I thing they should improve their staff's behavior, foods and design. However I think I never go there again. you try if you want.

Won’t even give this place a single star. First they got the order wrong. Saying they didn’t have what we ordered so they got whatever they thought was good for us which increased the bill. They don’t accept cards and asked for dollars. We gave them 100 dollars and they had their own conversion rate so they deducted money from us as well. They became aggressive when we argued so we had to pay. Not just we paid for food we didn’t order, but we overpaid. Thief is all come to my mind if i have to describe them. Ofcourse the food was bad as well. Zero rating

If you're exploring Baku, make sure to stop by Köz Halil Usta Tantuni 28 May for a delightful culinary experience. This gem is known for its authentic tantuni, served in both lavash and bread, which are bursting with flavor and offered at an affordable price. While the service may be a tad slow at times, the inviting atmosphere more than makes up for it.
We were stating nearby so we decided to try after we saw in YouTube. I would like to thank the night staff for accommodating us, they’re not fluent in English but they try their very best to help us. Service is excellent! Tantuni is indeed delicious however it’s a bit pricey.
Mike — Google review
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! A friend recommended it, so my wife and I decided to give it a try, and we were not disappointed. We ordered tantuni—one in lavash and one in bread—and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were authentic, and the price was very affordable, making it a great value for the quality of food. While the service was a bit slow, everything else was excellent, from the atmosphere to the overall dining experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit!

This place is wow. Tantuni & Doner at its best. They also serve really tasty milk pudding. Iskandar kabab dosnt taste well here. Finding a parking can be challenging. Would visit again.
Rasmin G — Google review
Overhyped by youtubers, normal taste nothing special. Staff behavior is cold and not welcoming. Just visited after watching youtube videos. Normal street shawarma in UAE is more better than this.
Zahid I — Google review
Curious after Mark Wiens raved about a spot in Baku, my hubby and I decided to investigate this corner of culinary delight. We were on a mission to try the famous tantuni, and as a fan of minced beef, I was definitely intrigued! Navigating the streets of Baku was a breeze, even for first-timers like us. Just a 15- to 20-minute stroll from our accommodation, and voilà—we arrived! Now, about the tantuni: it was good, though a tad salty. A splash of lemon and a side of pickles worked wonders to balance it out. I did feel the bread could use a little something extra, but overall, it was a fun experience. We’d absolutely go back, especially since it’s budget-friendly! The service was top-notch too—super friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home as travelers. Can't wait for round two!
JEMIMA — Google review
Wanted to experience some local Baku street food and stumbled upon a guy making tantuni – just what my wife was craving. It didn’t disappoint! The taste was spot on – juicy, well-spiced, and full of flavor. A great spot to satisfy your tantuni cravings if you’re exploring the city. Definitely a worthwhile food stop.
Ignatius D — Google review
We had the tantuni, the most Famous, it’s good but a little salty. I would say it’s Good for our first try. Yes we had to have it with ayran. Honestly the food is quite affordable.
Elveena V — Google review
More of a late night, to-go spot but we sat and ate. We walked 30 min for this on Mark Weins recommendation. The food did NOT dissapoint. The doner sandwich and lentil soup were on point, but the star is the beef tantuni sandwich. Dont forget to add the peppers! UPDATE: Spent the summer in Turkey eating Doner and Kofte. Tantuni is my favorite style. This place is undefeated in taste!

Bir İki Dönər has made quite a splash on social media with their innovative approach of offering free döners during significant public holidays, capturing the hearts of many in Baku. While it stands as one of the pricier döner spots in town, its popularity among locals speaks volumes about its appeal. Diners rave about the incredible taste and quality that this rebranded joint consistently delivers.
A small brach of the doner shop Bir Iki dönər, tho the food is a little overpriced it's probably worth it, the staff are friendly and will get ur order in no time
User — Google review
I only eat doner here – hands down the best doner in Baku! I’ve tried over 40 places, and nothing even comes close. I’m not a local, but I’ve been living here for a while now, and I can confidently say this spot is a gem. I recommend it to everyone. I honestly don’t get the weird negative reviews – they must be fake or written by competitors, because I, along with all my friends, absolutely love this place. The staff is super friendly, polite, and professional. They’re always on point with everything, from how they prepare the food to how clean and organized they keep the place. I even peek through the little window sometimes to watch them cook – everything is done quickly, efficiently, and most importantly, with top-notch quality. The flavor? Out of this world! And let me tell you, the meat is legit – fresh, clean, and absolutely trustworthy. You know they’re not cutting any corners here. If I had to nitpick, the only tiny downside is that the drinks are a bit pricey. I’m not sure if that’s really a downside or just me, but hey, if the drink prices were slightly lower, this place would be absolutely perfect. Other than that, I’m super happy with everything. Please, don’t ever close down – I literally eat here all the time. Big thanks to the team for doing such an amazing job. Keep it up!
David — Google review
I had the beef doner sandwich at Bir-Iki Doner and while it was decent, it didn’t really stand out compared to similar places I’ve tried in Baku, Istanbul, and Berlin. The portion was a bit small, there wasn’t enough meat inside the sandwich to be fully satisfying, so I’d recommend ordering two if you’re really hungry. Service is through a window only, with no seating or indoor waiting area, and it can get pretty noisy from the street traffic. That said, it’s still a solid, quick bite and worth trying once. Hoping other branches have stepped things up since my last visit in January.

(Translated by Google) The sales representative is very eloquent and gives detailed information, they prepared the donuts quickly, the presentation was excellent, each donut was wrapped in a paper bag, with a label, it was mentioned on the label whether it was chicken or meat. The generic paper package was also not neatly sealed, with enough tissues inside, including a toothpick. This branch has a negative aspect, that is, there are no places to sit). Great service!👍 In addition, let me mention that 1 doner is given as a gift for every 10 doner. (Original) Satış nümayəndəsi çox səlist və ətraflı məlumat verir, dönəri tez hazırladılar, təqdim etmə əla idi hər bir sönər kağız paketdə bağlı idi, etiketlə , etiketin üstündə qeyd olunmuşdu toyuq və ya ət olduğu. Ümumi kağız paket də səliqəli bağlanməşdı, içinə kifayət qədər salfetka qoyulmuşdu, diş çöpü daxil. Bu filialın bir mənfi cəhəti var o da əyləşməyə yerləri yoxdur). Əla servis!👍 Əlavə olaraq qeyd edim ki hər 10 dönərə 1 dönər hədiyyə edilir.

(Translated by Google) Literally half an hour ago I was making a purchase at the branch on Narimanov. There was an elderly Russian-speaking man at the checkout. I asked him again why the price of the cheese curds was listed as one, but another was being scanned. A normal question from a customer who saw a difference in price. In response, in the rude tone of a Soviet salesman, he answered: WHICH CHEESE CURDS? That is, the question was asked as if a warrant officer was standing in front of me and demanding that I, the customer, tell him how much the product HE was selling costs. I was confused and said quietly: cheese curds He commanded: WHICH CHEESE CURDS?! Then the young salesman intervened and calmly explained that only the lilac one was discounted, and I took the pink and caramel ones. That is, everything could have been normal, in a calm, friendly voice, which a grocery store salesman should be able to speak, it was possible to clarify I walked out of there as if I had been spat on You know, I am a frequent customer in your chain. True, I always did my shopping at the branch on Khagani, and yesterday I went to Narimanov purely by chance, on my way from the beach. But now, considering what a wretched staff you have at the checkout, I will think ten times before making a purchase from you. Especially since you have not had any exclusive goods for a long time, and the same products are cheaper in Bolmart and Bigross Favorit. Family-friendly, comfortable and cozy cafe, but sometime service unfortunately is not so good as expected. Price level little above average level... For example we made order and aproximately 40min waited for kebabs, later waiter asked us: "any wishes"? We told him that we still expecting order. As a result - He just forgot about it.
