Chinese restaurant
Kum Koon Garden 金冠酒樓 is a renowned Chinese restaurant located in Winnipeg's Chinatown, offering classic Chinese dishes, dim sum, and a banquet menu suitable for large groups. The spacious 650-seat dining room provides an impressive setting where dim sum is elevated to an event and every meal feels like a grand feast.
As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of working at many venues, but shooting at Kum Koon Garden was an experience I won’t forget. Not only does the restaurant offer incredible, authentic Chinese cuisine, but the ambiance made capturing beautiful moments feel extra special. The food—crispy spring rolls, savory Peking duck, and so much more—was a highlight of the day for both the couple and guests. It’s rare to find a place that offers such a warm and inviting atmosphere, paired with top-notch, traditional flavors. The staff were incredibly accommodating, making sure everything ran smoothly while offering friendly service. If you’re looking for a place to host your wedding or simply enjoy an authentic Chinese meal, Kum Koon Garden is a must!

First time trying this place and I was impressed. I loved the cart service. It was very nostalgic as not a lot places do that anymore. The food was good for the price point. The Siu Mai was great and also the Har Gow and Sticky Rice and the rest was just ok. I really enjoyed the Tau Foo Fah with the sugar and almost syrup combined. Overall, I’d enjoyed the food and the service. Will come back again for sure.
Ar G — Google review
We had a big dinner for 3 of us. The service was really quick and we all enjoyed the food. The restaurant was packed at the night but we were taken care of well.
Nhi L — Google review
Expensive and appalling. We had a table of 15 and each dish was so small, everyone barely got a serving. The food was overloaded with MSG and was super salty. The fried shrimp balls cost $10 a piece and were so incredibly salty that they were inedible (we had 15 people so this dish alone was $150!!) The fried rice was oily and overly salty. The spare ribs were too sweet but also overly salty. It takes skill to mess it up that badly. The staff are not friendly at all, especially the guy at the front, who wasn't even at the front. The waitress was also rude and completely clueless. We asked her from a small bowl of white rice and she completely ignored us. The quality of this place has gone way down. It's a wonder they are still in business. Not only was the food not good, it was also super expensive. One of the worst meals I've ever had. I would never recommend anyone come here.
Chieu L — Google review
Deep fried taro is the gem. Not many places in the world are willing to make this dim sum, eat it while we still can. Only available on Saturday & Sunday.
K. L — Google review
The food was good. The chicken feet fell off the bones when I was eating them, the pork shrimp fried rice had immense flavour, and the building wasn’t too busy.
Kazmir A — Google review
Dim Sum isn't as good as it used to be. Been visiting for 20 years now and quality has dropped in the past few years.
Pudge — Google review
Kum Koon Garden is our go-to spot for dim sum in Winnipeg. The service is always fast, the food comes out hot, and the quality is consistently excellent. Every dish tastes authentic and flavorful—just like good dim sum should be. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine with efficient service, Kum Koon Garden never disappoints! Highly recommend.

Asian restaurant
Sun Fortune Restaurant is a renowned Chinese eatery in Winnipeg that specializes in delectable Hong Kong-style cuisine, tantalizing fondues, and delightful milk teas. Situated near the University of Manitoba, this bustling joint has gained immense popularity among residents of the city. With its emphasis on high-quality ingredients, the restaurant serves an array of mouthwatering dishes like Szechuan-style deep-fried beef strips, fish fillet congee, seafood fried rice with shrimp sauce, and more.
Best Chinese Restaurant in Winnipeg !!! No doubt you will love most of the Menu items. Specially Roast Duck , Beef in Maggi Sauce , Salt and pepper Shrimp …

This is a great Cantonese - Chinese restaurant. I would say the taste of foods are what I experienced back in China few years ago and even better. A bit busy but good to come! I ordered Tsing Tao beer, 🍺 funded in Qingdao city in Shandong province by Germans in 1903! The best one in China!
Mehrdad R — Google review
This was our first time trying Hong Kong style food and it was AMAZING. The food was absolutely delicious and each tasted unique in its own way. The bbq pork and rice was lightly sweet and tasty, the beef ho fan was rich and smoky, and the Shanghai style pork noodle was savory and delicious. We wish we lived locally so we could come again and again. We also had a drink that was a mix of coffee, tea, and milk (or maybe sweetened condensed milk?)--also unique and delicious! GO HERE. Go right when they open so you can get seating and quick service, is what the waitress recommended too. They get busy. (Ignore my hair in the one pic--oops).
Heidi V — Google review
It was amazing. We, a group of 5 people, dined in and we were served right away. If you wanna try the duck, you have to order it in advance! The restaurant was packed during the time we were there. 😊 What impressed us most was the uncle who conversed with us in three different languages. 东西很好吃,全部都超棒的!và chắc chắn là bọn con sẽ quay lại đó hihi
Nhi L — Google review
Most delicious HK style dinner. We had preorder weeks prior as we had custom dishes made to vegetarian. Portions were large and food was tasty. Lemon iced tea is a must drink.
Guan P — Google review
Highly recommend the Peking Duck, HK Milk Tea Tea, Spicy Pork Eggplant and Spicy Beef Tendon Hot Pot. Some days the food is too salty, so it is not always consistent. Service is good except from two visits, one of the servers demanded tip before we even got a chance to put tip on the table, it was quite rude.
Vivian — Google review
FORCE PEOPLE TO TIP. They took forever to take our order, they didn’t even bother refilling water, we asked the server twice and seemed to not care, we waited a long time for the food to come out in which we had to wait longer for one dish. We only saw the server when she got our order and when it was time to pay she purposely said to tip covering the no tip button, I don’t mind tipping but if you force people to then it is not something u deserve, I press the no tip and she said a bad word in her language. She asked why we did not tip, well maybe if you don’t force people to and let them decide and maybe serve the customer better then you will get the tip you deserve. HORRIBLE PLACE. CHANGE UR STAFF FOR SOMEONE BETTER!
Night S — Google review
After a few days of running around getting stuff and organizing the new place, I finally got a chance to check out the new neighbourhood’s restaurants. 1st stop was the Sun Fortune Restaurant. This restaurant has been around for many years now and was packed when we went there without a reservation. However, the nice lady at the reception was nice enough to accommodate us. The place was your typical nondescript Chinese restaurant - no fuss, simply decorated joint. Prices were a little high for the small servings (smaller than I’m used to back in Calgary) but the real attractions were the amazing quality of food! We ordered: *** Cantonese Chow Mein - 9/10! *** Crispy Pork Chop Topped with Dried Garlic - 9/10! *** Deluxe Fried Rice - 9/10! *** Deluxe Chop Suey - 7/10 *** Steamed Fish Fillet with Tofu - 10/10!😍😋 *** Beef Brisket Noodle Soup - 8/10 This place is highly recommended and will definitely be one of my go-to-places if I decided to move in the city permanently.

Chinese restaurant
This restaurant specializes in Cantonese cuisine and offers dim sum as well. It's always busy with diners looking for authentic Chinese specialties. The food is very good and the service is attentive.
We drove to one of our favourite restaurants, North Garden, close to U of M. We ordered House Fried Rice with chicken and shrimp. I ordered Singapore Noodles - the texture was amazing, Lemon Chicken - sooo good ! and BBQ Lamb Shish Kebabs. It was so tasty! After we were getting ready to go, I went over to the other kiosk to place my order for bubble tea. I asked the staff if they could make “Mango Coconut” bubble tea. That guy made the bubble tea with love. When he handed it to me he politely asked do you need a bag? The staff were so kind and polite. I didn’t know bubble tea could be made like that. The mango so fresh (slightly tangy), and he even added pieces of coconut at the bottom to give it extra crunch. On the top, he put a soft rich creamy foam. It tasted like homemade whipped cream! Yes, this was the best bubble tea I’ve ever had in my life. I can’t wait to order from there again.
Jones E — Google review
Not what it used to be... Loved ordering and getting reasonable portions sizes and quality food with flavour. Now it's just like food from the mall, old fried meats tossed in syrup and sauces. Some of the dishes do not even look close to what I received before for the same order. We will likely not order again, not worth the money to find out.
Amir F — Google review
Worst food I’ve ever had in my entire life . I used to go to this restaurant back in 2010-2015 and the food was ok back then . However I gave it a shut and tried again after 10 years and I am really disappointed. Price is higher than the other Chinese restaurants in the area and the quality of the food is horrible . The lamb was not fresh at all , the pork was disgusting and it he chicken feet tasted like dirty socks !!
Miad S — Google review
Duck isn't as crispy skinned as I'd like it to be. Lamb was a bit tough. Otherwise food taste. Service is non-existent. Nobody will top up your water or check in.
John — Google review
I don't live in Winnipeg anymore. Back for the first time in years. Just finished dimsum. Shockingly good!!!! The best dimsum I've had in Winnipeg. Huge portions, perfectly prepared and served piping hot. Yes it's not huge like a typical dimsum palace but if you want good food go no other place. BBQ pork rice rolls and deep fried bread stick rice rolls were highlights. Custard buns were more filling custard than bun. Har gow and siu mai were also amazing. A bit pricey but worth it!
Kenneth W — Google review
The price is right, the portions large, the service friendly, and the food is phenomenal. This place is a classic and I highly recommend. The seafood soup, spring rolls, and fried rice are particularly good but everything is great.
Paige — Google review
Came by for late lunch around 3pm. No one in the restaurant but kitchen seemed busy with delivery and take orders. Waited several minutes before seated. Was given an menu and then ignored for quite some time until I finally asked a cleaner if there was someone who could take my order. I ordered a lunch special, the wait time for my order was reasonable. Food was hot, but the taste was just okay. You can't call steamed rice with tiny pieces of egg in it fried rice! The lemon chicken was good but over cooked. The vegetables and vegetable spring roll were good. The consume soup is essentially pointless. I hadn't been in the restaurant in several years and I remember it being better than this. I'm a bit disappointed. I may come back but I'm not sure.
C. A — Google review
I have been ordering food from this restaurant for a while with no issues, 30 minutes ago, i ordered 2 plates of house special fried rice(mildly spiced), we unpacked our food and no one is able to eat as the food is very spicy. I called immediately and the lady who answered the phone either didn't understand what i was saying or was very unbothered. I am not pleased with this, you guys can do better!

Falafel restaurant
Delivery Restaurant
Falafel Place is a popular Middle Eastern eatery in Winnipeg, known for its simple yet delicious offerings. The restaurant serves a variety of breakfast dishes, shawarma, and vegan fare alongside their renowned falafel. It's also a haven for gluten-free diners on a budget, offering delectable morning fare at wallet-friendly prices. With plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available, the bustling restaurant has been a staple in the Winnipeg culinary scene for decades.
What a breakfast!!! Nice latkes. Excellent eggs. Lots of options including corned beef, schnitzel, bacon, hummus, falafel, sausage, it just goes on!! Friendly staff. Cash and debit ONLY - no credit cards. Outstanding falafel - small, tender and delicious. Not your regular dry falafel! Worth the detour.
Denis V — Google review
What a great surprise this place was! Enjoyed their breakfast selection! Looking forward to try other food in the menu!
Andy C — Google review
Fabulous for breakfast. Earlier you go the quieter it is. Great for families with young children.
Caroline P — Google review
I used to frequent this place when I lived in Winnipeg. Now under new ownership it has lost some its charm, the Latkes have definitely changed and not for the better. The Latkes used to be cooked more and had some crispness to it. This time they felt undercooked and what happened to the original ingredients. The rest of the breakfast was okay. How can anyone really mess up eggs and toast. The service is still excellent as is the ambience. Sadly, I probably won’t visit this place the next time o come to Winnipeg.
Allan M — Google review
Some of the best falafel in the city! Tastes great and is affordable and fast. The only thing is that it can get very loud when it is a packed house and hard on my elderly dad's hearing. But service is attentive and food is beyond yummy. BONUS: the VEGAN options are appreciated!
Horror G — Google review
The food was great here. Everything we ordered was great. The grapefruit and orange juices are freshly squeezed to order. The only reason they are getting 4 stars in atmosphere is it was extremely hot inside. The kitchen is open to the dinning room and the stoves where extremely hot and all the fans in the restaurant for air circulation where turned off. It was like eating in the literal oven. Otherwise a good experience.
Michelle M — Google review
We went out for lunch one day, and said, lets go to Falafel place! Its so good! We got there akwardly waited at the entrance blocking other people from getting in, until 5 minutes later we got seated. Almost instantly we placed our orders of 3 soups and 2 Falafel Ball platters. We then proceeded to wait 30 minutes for Falafel balls, which were good, but drenched in so much sauce that you could not even taste the flavor. Then finally after 35 minutes, our SOUP came. Now, usually soup comes first at a restaurant, but who am I to judge? It was mozza ball soup and the mozza balls were raw and tasted like complete garbage. It felt like I just spent 12 dollars on hot water. Will not be coming back.
Christian S — Google review
I haven’t been here in probably close to 20 years. Will not be waiting that long to go again, it’s fantastic!! The food is delicious. Prices are very reasonable with large portions. Our food came out very fast and it was hot and fresh upon arrival. Friendly staff and busy right up to closing. Go early, they close at 2 pm. I can’t wait to go back again. The yam hash mix with the Vegan Heaven Breakfast is to die for!!

Thai restaurant
Magic Thailand Restaurant in Winnipeg is renowned for its delicious Thai cuisine and cozy atmosphere. It has been a pioneer in mentoring local chefs and is widely considered the best Thai food spot in the city. The restaurant recently underwent renovations, featuring a prominent neon logo. With quick service, patrons can enjoy their favorite curry and rice within minutes of ordering. Diners can customize their spice levels to suit their preferences. The flavors at Magic Thailand are distinct from traditional Thai cuisine, offering a unique culinary experience.
Absolutely in love with the food here. We tried a bunch of vegetarian and chicken options and we keep going back here at least once in two weeks. Their Tom Yum soup and Pad Siew are my favourite and their green curry is just something you cannot miss. Took our friends here (their first time trying Thai) and they love it too! The portions are generous.
Neha P — Google review
Magic Thai makes good food that's just different than most Thai flavors I've had. That's not a bad thing, but it's not an inventive flavor I enjoyed more. The pad Thai uses very thin noodles and is extremely thick. It tastes very much peanut like and homogeneous in flavor without a ton of balance. Their spice levels run from 1-10, but even a 5 is spicy for most people. If you REALLY like spice then opt for a 6 and add spice from the side. Parking is free and on the side street.
Michael B — Google review
Hurts to give a bad rating, loved this place before and the crab Rangoon USED to be awesome! BUT this year from the order you see in my pics I ate 15% of it max!! 😐 If it was good food I'd have finished it all. I actually gave the crab Rangoon away (to hotel service guy) The Thai ice tea was tasty though! Think I'll try elsewhere next time
BC T — Google review
This is our favourite Thai food spot in the city. My wife and I have tried multiple Thai restaurants in and outside the city and no other spot comes close to the richness and depth of flavour and quantity of food they offer. Eating food here is so comforting and always leaves us with such a good mood after the meal. Great service and would recommend everyone to try the food here.
Chinmai A — Google review
First time experiencing their traditional Thai food. I'll definitely be back. The Chicken Pad Thai was delicious!!
Bryan B — Google review
came for lunch and the food is always on point!! i got the red curry chicken and green curry beef, and both were really good – super yummy and just the right amount of spice. definitely hit the spot… i also got the iced coffee and they were sooo good the staff were nice and attentive, which i appreciated. but the washrooms were a bit of a hassle to find, and when i finally did, the lights were off which was kinda weird
Earl P — Google review
Tasty, quick service and friendly staff make this an easy choice for good Thai food. We ordered two orders of Green Coconut curry soup and one order of Cashew Pad Nut w/ Beef. The soups were 5/5. Lots of flavor, good portions and just the right amount of spice. Wish it would have came with rice though. The beef cashew pad nut was okay but not that great and the beef was a bit dry. I'll definitely be returning for more soup!
Justin W — Google review
Food is great if you're a fan of curry and similar dishes. Staff are kind and respectful, and prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is a bit noisy during dining hours and furnshing is old, but functional and not uncomfortable. Admittedly, if you like this place, it will be for the food while atmosphere is adequate.

LOVE THIS PLACE. We don’t order Chinese food very often cause we have had some really bad experiences in the past. But hands down, this place is THE BEST. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and probably the greatest Chinese food place in the city. We will always order from here when we are in the mood for Chinese food. Thank you to all who work there and for always making our dinner so delicious every time we order. ♥️

Delicious food, the strawberry sauce is just fantastic, everything we had was just spot on. We had the strawberry sweet and sour meatballs, beef and broccoli, ginger beef (mild), honey garlic veal and bbq pork chow mein. Super generous servings. Clean restaurant and excellent service.
Kimberley A — Google review
Went for the lunch buffet, small selection but mostly popular dishes. Ginger beef, mushrooms and the lemon chicken was tasty. Not a fan of the fried rice. Very friendly staff and restaurant has beautiful decor. Overall I'm not sure if we will be back due to the cost, for two adults and one child under 8 it was $94(not including tip) for the lunch buffet and 3 drinks.

The price for the food worth it!! But if you are looking for more or particular tasting, maybe it is not your place. (Even though, try it!)

Always a great experience here! Have been going to this restaurant for a few years now. Service is very good, food is extremely tasty. They use no MSG in the food here and you can tell by the taste and your stomach(MSG makes me feel sick). The owners are very good as well, remembers the whole family from the couple of times that the whole family has been there. Match the no MSG, great taste, friendly owners and staff and you have Empress of China! Highly recommend!

Chinese restaurant
The Hai Shang Restaurant, located in Winnipeg and highly recommended by Google, offers an exceptionally genuine Chinese dining experience. The restaurant has gained popularity among both locals and international visitors, including Canadians who particularly enjoy the authentic cuisine. In addition to the delicious food, customers appreciate the friendly owner and excellent service provided at this well-maintained establishment.
We tried it for the first time and absolutely needed to come back the next day. I love the Cantonese chow mein. The portion is huge and tasty. Best Chinese restaurant!

Wow, what a gem! We were recommended by several friends and family, and we are so thankful to finally try Hai Shang today! Definitely not your typically sorta dirty Chinese spot with grimy tables and sticky floors. This place is really well kept. The service was absolutely wonderful. We ordered the soup dumplings because of all the reviews recommended it. They were as good as advertised! Fresh and juicy, tons of flavour and great with the chili oil condiment on the table. We also had the beef brisket hot pot (best we’ve ever had) and the chow mein (again a very common recommendation online). Everything was excellent. Coconut milk with tapioca came as a complimentary dessert and was the perfect way to end our first experience at Hai Shang. We will definitely be back and have already recommended to a dozen friends. 10/10!

Came here for the first time and i must say i’m very pleased i found this restaurant. The staff was super friendly, always attentive and always very fast as well. i ordered some fried rice and pork as well and the food was really good! The portion amount i got would feed 3 or 4 of me. so i was really amazed at the amount of food i got for little price! Thank you!

Went there for the first time. We tried soup dumplings and veg spring rolls to start. The soup dumplings were so good and the spring rolls were pretty average. For our entree, we had fried rice and chicken ( I forgot the exact name lol) it was good. The restaurant was very clean and washrooms were as well. Our server was very nice and professional. Would recommend going and trying the soup dumplings.

first time i went here we had no reservations and the staff told us they were fully booked (even though it was like 80% empty)... came back the next week with reservations this time and wow the food is AMAZING we got their soup dumpings (awesome), mapo tofu (GREAT), fried rice (mid), gai lan w/ beef (good), and some chicken dish i forgot the name of (mid) the mapo tofu was my favourite, omfg it was soooo delicious...

Ordered take out, and found a strand of long black hair in the spicy beef stew dish. What a bummer. We don’t have long hairs in the house.

They quickly made a new order and delivered it when I received the wrong one. I was very impressed with their service, and the food was also great.

Went on a tuesday evening and wasn't too busy. The food came out fairly quickly. We ordered the fish maw with seafood soup, sizzling beef steak, eggplant with minced meat and fish sauce, deep fried shrimp with spicy salt, seafood chow mein, and an order of soup dumplings. Portions sizes were just right for family style dinner with 5 people in my opinion. Didn't take a photo of the soup and was too slow on the shrimp but was able to get the rest. Surprised with the amount of beef on the sizzling beef steak, it was a good amount of meat! Flavour-wise it tasted like a home cooked meal to me. The soup was a pretty typical fish maw soup but still enjoyed that nostalgic taste. The shrimp was really crispy when we got it and not heavily battered. The sizzling hot plate, eggplant, and noodles were as you would expect. The soup dumplings are really good and actually has a bit of "soup" in them compared to some other places. Overall, I would definitely go back again. :)

Hands down, THE BEST. We order every New Year’s Eve and will continue to do so. Delicious!!! 💯

I used to order from here often, but then switched to Komodo. Today however, I decided to try Four Seasons again. I ordered beef and broccoli , and pork fried rice. Okay the delivery was on point. Right on time. The food however?… the beef tasted so strong of baking soda I had to toss it. It was gross. The pork fried rice hardly seemed fried at all.. I’ll continue to order from Komodo. This was a huge disappointment.
Maria M — Google review
The best Chinese and or Polynesian food in the city. Highly recommend the Beef Mokawewe and Mama Yee’s Chicken, but really everything is delicious. They offer take-out and delivery within their delivery parameters. Make sure to order ahead because they are always busy (for good reason).

This is always our go to place for Chinese Food and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and was enjoyed by our family.
Evelyne S — Google review
We placed an order online and they called to confirm everything- which was fantastic because we selected something that we thought was chow mein but was not - and the lady on the phone kindly made sure. However, the noodles and Winter chicken were okay in my opinion. The ginger beef though was super tasty and would definitely recommend and come back for that!

Only order once or twice a year. New management? Great quality food always. Some dishes were changed slightly but ended up even better. The wonton soup was unbelievable. The broth was soooooo delicious. Order was missing one dish but they promptly sent it out when we called back. The best in Southdale just got better.

Sampo Dimsum Restaurant is an unassuming Chinese eatery that offers a variety of dim sum, soups, and noodle dishes. The restaurant provides quick seating and fast service, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The portions served are generous and satisfying. Their sweet and sour pork is particularly delicious and can even provide three meals from one serving. All the food arrives hot at the table, although some customers have mentioned that the interior temperature can be a bit cold.
If you love dim sum, this place is definitely worth a visit! The food is flavorful, everything we tried was delicious. Highly recommend ordering a bit of everything! The service was a bit on the slower side, but the great happy hour deals made up for it. Overall, a great spot for dim sum lovers! Come with friends or family, try a variety, and enjoy a tasty meal without breaking the bank. Will definitely be back! 😊

This is the best siomai 2nd to Dragon’s family fave siomai! We love the pork bun, never had so soft and simple but delicious one for almost 10 years! Authentic Chinese Food! Congee needs a little flavor but still yum yum with some condiments! Must try in person! We had doordash.

I don’t normally write reviews but felt I would share my experience. About two weeks ago, I had previously ordered the beef and broccoli from this restaurant and it was good (portion size was large) and food was good so I thought I would order again, only to be disappointed. Today’s order was terrible. FOOD 1) There was only half a container of my mixed vegetable order. 2) The pepper ribs were terrible, not what we were expecting for ribs and the ribs were all gristle and fat, would be better do just do with beef. 3) When I ordered the chicken fried rice, I was told there is pieces of chicken in it. There were two micro sized pieces of chicken in the chicken fried rice and it was dry and greasy. 4) They charge for white rice where white rice is free at other restaurants when you order the Chinese dishes. SERVICE 5) I asked for a detailed receipt and received a calculator tape. ATMOSPHERE Not applicable as was take out. So, it seems that this restaurant is random for quality and quantity. I like consistency so I won’t be going back.

The dim sum is so amazing! The price is very very reasonable. It's helpful to go onto their website to see what is what, since they have photos of all dumplings on the dim sum menu. I make sure to visit here every time I'm in Winnipeg! One of my favorites!

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I went here with a large group for my birthday and everything was incredible. The noodle dishes were flavorful and authentic, the dumplings (especially the shark fin) were incredible and the sticky rice is the best I've ever had. Every dish I tried was a banger and the staff are really nice. We ended up ordering way more food than we could ever eat. I tried to warn my friends that items on the non Dim Sum menu were sharing plates, but we ended up overloading out table anyway. At a table of eight, we each ended up taking 3 containers home. Even with how much we over-ordered the bill was still very reasonable. For my money, it's the best Dim Sum in town.
Alex D — Google review
We have lunch at this Restaurant. Price point is good in comparison with city like Vancouver and Montreal.
WK — Google review
The food is always fresh, and is far more flavorful than any other Dim Sum within the city. The staff are pleasant and accommodating, though the do sometimes mess up the amount of dishes and utensils a group require.(though they haven't once messed up an order!). The building itself, while not as opulent as some of the other Dim Sum locations, is looks nice, and is cozy. I would highly recommend.

Chinese restaurant
Victoria Seafood Restaurant 香江海鮮酒家 is a beloved gem in Winnipeg, particularly known for its traditional Cantonese cuisine and delightful dim sum offerings. This long-standing establishment has become a favorite among locals, including Momma Chen, who insists on visiting for Mother's Day due to the restaurant's charming decor that transports diners straight to Hong Kong. While the dim sum steals the spotlight here, many patrons also rave about their combo dishes, which provide a satisfying Chinese food fix.
Food is good and staff is friendly. Prices are good as well. The portion of the BBQ roasted duck noodle soup is ridiculous big. I would say it’s good for two people to share.

Thomas T — Google review
After ordering the combos here many times I can safely say that it is a great fix if you want chinese food. The dimsum is what victoria is known for but i personally just come for the combos. The atmosphere is the only downside as it is dead silent in there and quite awkward with people hearing your conversations. I almost feel the need to introduce myself to the other patrons.
Benjaminimum — Google review
I went to this restaurant a few days ago and unfortunately, it wasn’t a great experience. The atmosphere felt off—definitely not warm or welcoming. What stood out the most though was how confusing the menu was. It didn’t clearly explain what each dish included or how it was prepared, which made it really hard to know what you were actually ordering. For a place that seems to take pride in its food, I expected more clarity and attention to detail. Not sure I’d go back unless things improve.
Andrew — Google review
The food here is okay but not the best chinese food ive ever had, the service here isnt great, the lady we dealt with is kinda rude and not very helpful, we also wanted to switch our mixed veggies for chop suey and they didnt tell us till we were paying our bill that it was an extra $2 each to change it. Was not happy
Kailey F — Google review
Food was fantastic, ginger beef/delux Cantonese chow mein/steam bbq pork buns. Really a 10/1 for the pork buns, dough soft and moist and flavourful pork filling, one of the best I’ve had in the city. A bit of confusion over the phone with ordering the pick up, but it was sorted out in the end. Definite recommend
Patrick Q — Google review
They didn't have soap in the bathroom and the atmosphere was eerily quiet. Food was served one dish at a time instead of all together, and cleanliness was sus, water glass was dirty. Beef and pork dishes were mostly fat and steamed rolls had very little filling. On the bright side prices were very reasonable and we didn't get sick.
KC P — Google review
We just had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant. We kept asking for water, and after multiple requests, they finally gave us only two glasses—even though there were four of us. I also asked for containers to take our leftovers, and the server never came back. I ended up having to walk into their kitchen just to ask again. To make things worse, the place wasn’t even busy—there were only three tables with customers. There’s really no excuse for the poor service. Definitely not coming back.

I have frequented Kai Ping Restaurant multiple times over the years and it has never failed to impress. Today's visit was particularly satisfactory. The sesame chicken pieces are small and crunchy bursts of flavor. The specialized Kai Ping Loo mein was flawless, fulfilling our week-long craving for noodles. The mixed vegetables provided a delightful assortment and were perfectly cooked with a satisfying crunch, avoiding any unwanted sliminess or mushiness. Additionally, the egg rolls and white rice were impeccably prepared.
We’ve ordered from here quite a few times over the years and it’s never disappointed! I must say that today was especially on point. The sesame chicken morsels are small and crispy little bursts of flavour! Kai Ping special Loo mein was perfect, we were craving some noodles all week so these hit the spot! Mixed vegetables had a nice variety and were perfectly cooked with some crunch, not all slimy and mushy. Egg rolls and white rice came perfectly cooked as well! These items were all on point and nice portions to feed my partner and I for another meal tomorrow. Fresh, colourful, not greasy. Consistent all across the board without a single complaint with this Chinese takeout experience!!
Jeff B — Google review
Came by skip. Dishes were soggy as if they were sitting for 1/2 day. Chicken chop suey actually mushy bean sprouts, Szechuan beef was not spicy just soaked in sweet and sour sauce from a jar it seemed. Breaded dry ribs were concrete and meat very dry. And mooshie very sad. Maybe this was a bad night .. but never again.
Edith K — Google review
Ordered here many times and was always good. Tried a new dish that ended up being LOTS of white onions with some shredded chicken. They call it Ginger chicken with green onion. It was thrown in the garbage. Tried to rectify by calling the restaurant- told that ginger chicken I wanted was called sweet honey garlic chicken and they made no mistake. No refund. Funny a competitor restaurant knows what ginger chicken is. No white onions in that either. Will not order here again.

Food was very delicious! On time and reasonable price. They were slammed on Christmas Day, but quality of our order was outstanding. Wl done! Will come again.

The food is really tasty with big portions, and the service is great. The only thing is that the reception area could use a bit of decoration and improvement, so it looks more welcoming when people come in.
Aisana K — Google review
The worst food I've ever received. And I've been going here for years. Had to return two dishes . That's were basic I might add. The combination sesame chicken. There were no piece of chicken. But dried pieces of batter. And since when does 'vegetables' constitute as bean sprouts and cabbage. What happened to the broccoli . Carrots and chunk of cabbage. The Shanghai noodles were gross dry and disappointing. I don't know what happened to this place but will not be going back.
Danielle A — Google review
Been going to this pick up restaurant for 17 years now. The new owner has actually done very well with the unchanged menu. Their food is one of the best. However, they continue to raise their prices and decrease the dish amounts. Raising the free delivery to $40 also. I’m finding less shrimp, chicken and meats in general in the dishes as well. The rice is now in smaller amounts too. If you want to raise your prices then at least keep the amounts you serve to how it was with the past owners. They were much more generous!!
Darrel D — Google review
Wouldn’t visit this place again even for a free meal!! WOW haven’t ordered from here in a few years. The place we normally get from was closed , so we decided to order from here …what a mistake!! The portions were soo small 6 dishes weren’t even enough food for my wife, myself and two children under 6! The chicken balls were huge.. until you take the batter off only to have a piece of chicken the size of a marble. The ginger beef had very little questionable meat and mostly onions and not a hint of ginger . Nothing tasted the same as I remember . It was all pretty much tasteless. Before ordering maybe just go to the mall food court and save your money. The prices are completely out of hand and the food is below sub par

Awesome service, clean quiet place to share a meal when we popped in today. Chicken was seasoned and the spice was just right for me, my sister did not do spice and shared hers was also great. Their rice was also good. We were not hurried and were checked up on by our server . Highly recommend.

I am honestly really sad, my boyfriend and I spent $50 on skip on 2 dishes and both have no seasoning at all and are in a clear liquid that only tastes like oils. I am usually not picky, but neither of us ate anything but the rice because it was not good. Maybe it’s better in the restaurant.

I/we have been getting food from here for 45yrs. At one time, it was amazingly great food. I'm not sure what's happened, but in the last year the food flavor had drastically changed for the bad. The sweet and sour sause has changed. The sauce in the deluxe veggies has changed for the bad. Overall the flavor has gone downhill. Very disappointed to say the least.

Servings for the meal sets are huge. Tasty sweet and sour spare ribs. Chicken balls and shrimps are delicious as always. Highly recommend!
Nicole — Google review
I ordered the honey garlic chicken combo with dry wontons, and it was disappointing. The chicken was chewy and tough, the rice and vegetables were bland, and the egg roll was also chewy instead of crisp. Overall, a very underwhelming meal. I won’t order from here again.

The place is 150metres from where I’m staying so there really isn’t any reason why I shouldn’t try the place, it seems to do steady business although primarily Caucasian clientele as the menu does cater to more Western tastes than traditional Chinese, that being said my food was fresh and tasty there does seem to be some mistakes on the menu as what I thought I was ordering was actually completely different than what I received regardless everything was quite palatable and I enjoyed my meal. The menu is very simple but straight forward it’s completely in English although I wish that there was a Chinese English menu so there are no misunderstandings about what people are ordering. The place is very clean and basic no garish decorations or furniture just a simple traditional diner type atmosphere, the place is family owned and operated and everyone participates to get he meals out to you as quickly as possible. Lots of street parking and a parking lot beside the restaurant if you don’t want to park on the street

It was just ok. The Cantonese chowmein, chicken with cashews and the sautéed mixed vegetables all tasted exactly the same...so that was disappointing. They could have added a bit of a different flavour. Dry breaded pork was ok. The lemon chicken was good. Did not care for the crispy ginger beef. It had a yellowy sauce. Unlike others I have tried that has more of a reddish brown sauce. I should have ordered the dry szechuan beef instead. Chicken fried rice was good as with most Chinese restaurants. The Cantonese chowmein was full of veggies(celery, onion, carrot, cabbage, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms). Also had chicken, pork and shrimp with noodles. Was surprised it had shrimp since it wasn't listed under seafood...oh well it was still good. All the chicken dishes the chicken seemed boiled and not sautéed except for the lemon chicken. We were somewhat disappointed with the dishes as the flavours seemed all very similar except for the ginger beef, lemon chicken and dry pork. Not worth nearly $150. Decor typical to Chinese restaurants. Clean. Pretty busy. Large portions. Unfortunately we will still be on the search for a really great Szechuan Chinese restaurant like the one that closed on Pembina Hwy...that was the best in Winnipeg.

First time ordering here, Food is ok. Good portions, #47 best seller dry beef is yummy however getting takeout made it a bit soggy so we air fried it and it got much better. Volcano beef was under special order dishes but I don't see what is so special about it, looked and tasted like regular Chinese stir fried beef. All in all, good place to order if you live close by, we drove 30 min from south end, not sure if we'd return.

Delightful dim sum restaurant Noodle Express has delicious and large portions at great prices. The staff are friendly and very nice, making it a favorite of locals and tourists alike. They have a wide selection of dim sum to choose from, as well as Chinese food classics.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Great prices and huge portions! They have the best BBQ Duck Soup I’ve had so far and their dim sum selection is good. Friendly and very nice staff. Will always come back for amazing Chinese food. Their Mango Pudding is the best!

This review is for their dimsum as that's what we had and did not order from the other menu. I did include pictures of both menus. After 2pm this place is a great price as it's dim sum happy hour. It has been around for a very long time. I came here as a child and they are still running. A long standing establishment that I enjoy going to. It's very much a hole in the wall place. They do not push the food on carts. You order directly off the menu, but that ensures fresh food. Our meal was $62.83 for 4 people including tea and tax.

Tried out Noodle Express for the first time today, and I can see why they are one of the top 50 restaurants on Door Dash in all of Canada! The food is absolutely incredible, and the portions are HUGE!!! Extremely reasonably priced. I promise that you will not be disappointed. The Egg Tarts are RIDICULOUSLY amazing - I could eat a dozen! We also had Taro Root Cake, Spring Rolls, Sesame Balls, Steamed Pork buns and a bunch of other delicious dishes! The owners are very hard working, and run a wonderful establishment. We will definitely be back!

One of those wonderful hole-in-the-wall restaurants that seems understated in decor but has exquisite food. The bean curd rolls were perfection, and I highly recommended the eggplant in garlic and black bean sauce.

Fast service, Delicious food, in a very casual environment not fancy just down to business about good food. I recommend ordering extra as dim sum makes for amazing leftovers. After 2:00pm it's happy hour prices on dim sum which is nice.

Since moving from Toronto I have really missed enjoying a local noodle joint. Pho is great, but sometimes you want other great cheap noodles. Noodle Express is perfect! Food is delicious, portions are large and fresh. I know I appear to like everything in the city, but this place really is fantastic!

Food portion is well-served. However, the quality isn't that good. It's an okay Chinese restaurant and dim sum. The customer service is quite terrible. Their noodle bowls are made of egg noodles and broth. I have a feeling that every single marinated or seasoned ingredient has MSG in it.
Eliane Z — Google review
I was honestly exhilarated to give this place a visit since I'm a dimsum fan and this place has a good rating and even makes it to Manitoba suggested places for travellers. - no visuals. No dish on display for the dimsum but ok. It's not like I'm not familiar with the dishes. I can give that a pass - mushroom shrimp dumpling: definitely no mushroom, it's more of a ground meat (mixed) instead of actual shrimp. Tastes ok - scallop and shrimp dumplings w corianders: the dumpling shell is tough. The taste is plain and so off that I didnt even bother to check out its content whose texture doesn't seem to have scallop in there - golden dumpling buns: nice dumpling shell. The interior mixture is a joke. It's raw egg yolk and oil. No, I didn't mean the raw egg yolk that we Asians usually have (slightly cooked but still running). It was actually raw! The mixture is not consistent. You can literally pour the oil out. - the spare ribs: it looks ok from the top but when you dive in, there's no ribs. It's mostly bones, fat, and white bones (cartilage). Nearly half of the sauce mixture is oil. You can literally the separating layer - steamed rice with tender chicken: not sure what I should feel about this. How can Asians screw up steamed rice? More precisely, it looks like someone's leftover. And it tastes like soggy rice that we usually feed the pigs. Why soggy? From steamed chicken? Please! The chicken pieces are a little bigger than my thumbs. The total meat is about the size of my palm spreading one layer on the top of the rice. I didn't have any breakfast just to save rooms for this awesome dimsum. How disappointed! The red thing (not sure what it is but sometimes it's there in the egg) can be visually seen with the running yolk in the buns. I already bit a half of the bun before seeing that. Let's pray that I don't have stomachache afterwards

Dim Sum Garden Restaurant is a longstanding, popular Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Chinatown. Despite the recent flu pandemic, I've always been able to find delicious dim sum here - especially during rush hours! The food has always been fresh when delivered, but I do wish that sometimes an order might be missing entirely or simply not to my liking and receive a full refund for it. Overall, though, this place is great for dim sum and I'd definitely recommend it!
Dang the food is good here! So good I kinda pushed the atmosphere up one extra star lol. I have eaten here on a few occasions and every time it’s amazing and authentic Chinese food. It was my daughter Mya’s 14th birthday and she loves everything to do with China. So I had to take her to this place. In Winnipeg area it’s hard to find really, really good Chinese food but this is the spot! BOOM! Let the taste speak for itself. I recommend the pork steamed dumplings. They are like delicious pillows of fluffy dough in your mouth, packed with savoury flavour in every bite. The chicken skewers are deadly Mmmmmmm The honey garlic chicken is awesome too. I highly recommend the Mango pudding for dessert. If you’re looking for one of the best places for authentic Chinese cuisine in Winnipeg you should make the trip to China town and check it out. Outstanding food and great service as well. Cheers ladies for the excellent work

First time visiting this restaurant. We came specifically for dimsum and we had a good dining experience. The service was excellent. The host and the servers were very welcoming and friendly. The food came out promptly, freshly prepared/steamed and hot. I found the food lacking flavours but the servings were generous. However, I gotta give them props for their Singapore Noodles. It was incredible! It’s now my 2nd favourite Singapore Noodles in the city. It was flavourful, perfectly cooked and most of all smoky - it’s a must for me as far as this dish is concerned. Next time, I’ll order the full version as I’m sure I could eat an entire full serving on my own. Although the dim sum items have amazing texture and of great quality, a tad more seasoning would made them great. I will come back again purely for their Singapore Noodles. Also, I will try the dimsum items again because nothing like a good chili oil or XO sauce can’t fix. Maybe I’ll bring my own? 🤣 The real winning factor about this place was the service and the affordability. Last week, I went to the place next door and I paid double for the same amount of food that I had here.

Everything except the shrimp dumplings was meh. The eggplant and shrimp was more like seafood. The shrimp rice rolls has uneatable shrimp and the sweet sauce wasn’t good. The egg tarts were meh. The sauces were not good. It’s affordable dim sum. However it’s worth paying double at Kum koon garden. This place even has free parking. No wait they will seat you and almost everyday is affordable happy hour for 95% of the day. Still next time worth the wait at Kum koon.

A wonderful Dim Sum lunch today! Pretty much went with the favs: sticky rice, pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shark fin dumplings and pineapple custard. And we even got a free Mango pudding. Not too busy for a Thursday and they filled out take away order in less than 15 min and the food was super hot! Can’t wait to order again!

We enjoyed the food and the dim sum was delicious for dinner. Need improvement on the cleanliness side, floor needs to get swept often, food on the floor is visible. The tables can be cleared right away when customers leave or clear plates as food is consumed. It would help a lot for ambience. The cups and bowl have a certain aroma of chlorine, its difficult not to notice May visit again for the food perhaps take out, however, it would be more enjoyable if the atmosphere level up.

Oh the Dim Sum was sooo good. We were on a food tour with Carter and it was fantastic.

Very spacious restaurant that can entertain large groups of people. Came here on a Sunday afternoon so you know the place can get busy fast. Staff have a lot of tables to deal with so don't expect someone to walk by occasionally to ask if you need anything else... you will have to try to get the servers attention when they are delivering dishes to tables near you. Food was good and priced reasonably.

Nestled in the charming River Park South, Tang Dynasty Restaurant is a must-visit for dim sum enthusiasts. This delightful eatery prides itself on serving dishes made fresh to order, ensuring that every bite is bursting with flavor. While you may need to exercise a bit of patience as your meal is prepared, the wait is undeniably worthwhile. Signature dishes like deep-fried shrimp seaweed rolls and stuffed eggplant are highly recommended for an authentic experience.
I really enjoy the food here as the taste is awesome. I recommend deep fried shrimp dumplings, the curstard buns, the perogies and everything in the photos LOL you cannot go wrong with anything.
Quỳnh N — Google review
Of the dishes we had, I liked the pan fried bun. Everything else was ok. Beef balls had this baking soda taste. Siu Mai/shrimp dumplings tasted like it wasn’t made in-house with fillers. Radish cake also more flour and undercooked. This place gets busy with regulars and the attention is usually diverted to them. I don’t recommend unless you live in the area. Price and quality is not worth making a trip here. 2.5.

Came here based on the rating, reviews, and photos. I was trying to find an alternative to my current Winnipeg favourite dim sum restaurant. The shopping centre parking lot offers plenty of free parking. The room was definitely smaller than what I imagined based on photos. Pretty dim, too, since the only major light source is the front windows. Place has no side windows and only has some small LED ceiling lights. On writing this review, I realized that we ordered almost none of the dishes everybody posting here ordered. So this may be why my food experience may be less than everybody else but these are also standard dishes in dim sum restaurants. The Chinese doughnut wrapped in rice noodle roll was pretty basic and not fresh made. It has been fried more than once and then wrapped. If they steamed it again after wrapping, maybe the doughnut would not seem so overfried and dry. The meat wrapped in bean curd sheet was ok. It's just standard fare and does not stand out. The chicken on rice dim sum bowl was ok. Could probably do with a little more steaming with the lid off as the steaming liquid was still in the rice, so it seemed too wet. This is the first place I've been to that uses those metal steaming containers rather than clay pots or actual bowls. The stuffed eggplant. Now, usually, this is with shrimp paste. This is the first time to have it with fish paste. Again, it's just ok, but fish paste is cheaper than shrimp, so the experience was that much less. Hidden gem in South Winnipeg? Maybe if there are no other dim sum restaurants in South Winnipeg. If you don't mind driving to Chinatown, Kum Koon Garden would still get my dim sum dollars.

Dropped by for a late lunch date with my wife, ordered up some siumai, tripe, chicken feet, ribs, noodles, crispy squid, crispy shrimp dumplings, sesame balls and custard buns. Everything was quite good and satisfied our dim sum craving. even the chilli oil was good! Ok maybe the custard buns were just ok and I would not order it again but will definitely recommend this place and would comeback again for the food and the service.

8 seatimg sections (1 8-10 person & 7 2-4 person), customer service was average, unattentive, especially for a small place, be prepared to wait 30-40mins, reservations reccomended during those times, we were fortunate, especially because we drove 30mins across town to try a new dim sum place, worth the drive? Had better downtown, but we were trying to be adventurous.
Boun T — Google review
Food quality is very good. For Winnipeg, probably one of the top Dim Sum. Compared to Vancouver, this is good, but there would be better. My mother told me the chef here is the one that used to be at North Garden. For this meal we tried a bit of everything. My aunt told me we ordered everything off the menu. Everything was pretty solid. The only thing I am unsure of is the price as I did not pay. Its a small spot. On the weekends it fills up fast and line ups are the norm. They open at 11am so getting there right at that time is good. I do believe they take reservations however, though I am unsure if they will do it for small parties.

Ordered take out for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. So far, it's the best Chinese take out in Winnipeg. We ordered the honey garlic chicken balls, the Ginger beef, chicken fried rice and noodles. My favorite was the beef. It was very good. Will definitely order from here again.

Nestled in the heart of Winnipeg, Spring Roll Restaurant is a beloved Chinese eatery that has been delighting locals for years. This charming spot offers an extensive menu featuring everything from savory meat and seafood dishes to vegetarian-friendly options, ensuring there's something for everyone. Diners rave about their must-try items like the crispy spring rolls, har gow, siu mai, and flavorful wonton soup. Each dish is crafted with fresh ingredients to guarantee a memorable dining experience.
Fantastic food, chicken was great, fantastic price. Soup was average. A meal for 10 dollars with 4 large pieces of chicken! Interiors is dated and dark set up cafeteria style. Owner is extremely friendly. Will return.
Tom Z — Google review
This review is based on a comparison of what this restaurant used to be to what it is now. Prices were great. Food was very good. Portions were generous. However, in the last couple years, it has gone way downhill. Quality has been cut in at least half, portions have decreased or been replaced with cheap cabbage, fillers or heavy breading …Meats are battered with heavy flour(the outside is cooked but inside, the flower is undercooked as a result of it being way too thick to make the pieces look bigger). The poor quality chicken is literally thinner than the batter. Lunch combos used to come with beef and a gravied stir fry which has been removed. Prices have doubled quality/quantity has been cut in half. Dinner combo is the exact same as lunch with the addition of a .25 cent tasteless veggie spring roll. It should be noted wonton soup is always good. We need to stop all the Shrinkflation. Price increase is entirely fine over time but cutting quality and quantity in half is not acceptable.
Ben M — Google review
This might be the best Chinese food I had in Winnipeg. There's one or two other places that I like. But so far this one is the best I've had. I'm going to have to go back and try more dishes. The best wonton soup I've ever had in my life! The chicken chow mein was so good! I highly recommend checking this place out if you're a fan of Chinese food.

Ordered 8 dishes and had it delivered by Spring Roll Restaurant. Paid cash and got free rice - Whoopee. The driver had the wrong price and I had to call the restaurant to confirm the price. Driver was great but.... The entire meal was awful! Three of the dishes were shrimp, two were pork, one beef, 2 veggie and one rice. Not one dish tasted good. We were so disgusted we threw out almost everything after the first couple of bites and ordered pizza. I used to go to this restaurant years ago and it was always great. Now I wouldn't cross the street to eat their food if it was all free! Save your money and order from someone else. I have no idea how they have so many good reviews. Family? Friends? I just don't understand it!
Marianne W — Google review
First time trying this restaurant during their lunch hour based off of a recommendation. So worth the wait! Their lunch combos were only $10! What a deal during these trying times. Since it was Friday, I opted for the Lemon Chicken combo, which came with the protein of the day, plain fried rice, veggies, and either a small wonton or consommé soup. I also ordered a Vietnamese spring roll since it was called the Spring Roll Restaurant. The food was amazing and super delicious for its value! They were short-staffed but the food came out accordingly. The lunch hour was definitely busy but luckily I was there just before it was packed with people. I would definitely go back on different days to try their other lunch specials!
Danna — Google review
I can't speak to the service or atmosphere as it was a Skip order, but seriously, don't waste your money! The chicken breading was greasy and way over cooked, almost burnt. The sauces( lemon and honey garlic ) were flavorless and very watery. The fried rice was not fried, it just had soy sauce on it. The vegetables consisted of raw cabbage and shredded carrots. Extremely disappointing.
Chrissy S — Google review
Spring Roll has been a classic North Ens chines food restaurant for decades and is known for the best spring rolls in all of Winnipeg. Great won ton soup is a classic with their many other award winning dishes. Always a consistent place to eat with friendly service and fair prices.

My wife and I have enjoyed this restaurant for many years, a total West End treasure and our go to for anything vegetarian or vegan-lite (not vegan per se but close enough for us!) We’ll often buy several hundreds of $$$ worth of dishes and enjoy leftovers for several days 😋 There’s just so many flavours and faux meat options that even the most stubborn carnivores (out daughters! Lol) are hard pressed to find fault or dissatisfaction 🤔 The location is super convenient for us but even were it not within walking distance I’d still make the trip. The owner is always friendly and kind no matter how slow or insanely busy they are. 😊 The only real downside is the decor, pretty much what you’d expect from a local greasy sooon restaurant that’s more concerned with food than ambience. I just wish they’d fix the front stairs and doors already, pretty janky (and potentially dangerous) If you can push past the visually unappealing entrance and interior you’re in for a real treat! Absolutely recommend 👌👍

Many patrons have expressed their intention to revisit this establishment due to their positive experiences with both dining in and ordering delivery.

We ate here before a concert. The place looked a little dated and dingy, but i enjoyed the character of it. We ordered combo A and B and shared them. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The fried meats were very crispy and the rice was very flavourful. The portion size was good too. The woman serving us was very friendly and sweet. Service was quick and the food was quick too. I would definitely visit here again!

ordered sesame chicken and lo mein from this place. Unfortunately, the sesame chicken was very disappointing. It was overcooked deepfried chunks of chicken breast that were extremely tough and rubbery barely edible. The lo mein was okayish. I’ve ordered from them before and had a much better experience, so this was a real letdown. Based on this recent order I wouldn’t recommend it.

I ordered three menus through skip the dishes a while ago and two came as I ordered, but I called the restaurant because it seemed like szehuan chicken was cooking with old chicken, and they yelled at me that it would never be. Although chicken is the same part, it has a mixture of soft one and very tight black, and hard one together. even chicken is covered with sauce, but it tastes like fried chicken from a few days ago. I used to order it at home before I moved in to new address but its not same taste as before I was so disappointed to receive it this time and I will never order it again.

Ordered Ming Court for the 1st time using Uber Eats. (So I have no comment on "Atmosphere"). Got a Vegetable mix, and the quality of the vegetables was very low vs other Chinese food restaurants I've ordered from. The broccoli was pale, the sauce was very watery and tasted watered down, all the other vegetables seemed very low quality (with only the carrots appearing to be good quality). It also did NOT come with a side dish of RICE! (I've never heard of a Chinese restaurant that does not include a standard steamed rice with your order). What I received appeared more like a $6.95 dish not $16.95 especially since it came with no rice. Really expected much better from such a well know Chinese restaurant.

Cho Ichi Ramen is a popular spot in Winnipeg known for its consistent quality and delicious Shoyu ramen. The soy sauce broth, balanced with mirin and sugar, gives the soup a clear-brown color and a perfect blend of salty and sweet flavors. The restaurant offers takeout, delivery via Skip the Dishes and DoorDash, making it convenient to enjoy their amazing ramen from home.
I’ve been to Cho Ichi many times and have always enjoyed their food, but my recent experience with the Spicy Garlic Ramen was a bit different. While I’ve had this dish before and loved the spice level, this time it seemed almost too spicy, to the point where it was overwhelming. I’m all for heat, but it felt a bit much, and I had to take half of it to-go. That said, the ramen was still tasty, and the service was as excellent as always. I’ll definitely be back!

I got the chicken miso with garlic chips and extra bean sprouts and my bf got the spicy one I forgot what it was called! We also got the Brussels sprouts and pork side as well and it was delicious! Definitely going back he insisted i left a review because of how good the food was 😊

I’ve been on the hunt for good ramen in Winnipeg ever since having life changing ramen in Vancouver… Honestly I’ve heard mixed things about Cho Ichi - good and bad so I figured it was time to try it.. it was mediocre at best. Miso Ramen: - Pork tonkatsu broth felt insanely heavy and unclean as if they didn’t skim enough fat or clean bones and lacked a depth of flavour. - The chashu is basically just seared with a burner and feels fatty and too thin. No meat bite at all just fat. - The egg is also mediocre. Didn’t have a jammy texture, was overdone and didn’t have much seasoned flavour. Not worth the extra $$ - The noodles are okay but have more bite to them Chicken karaage: - While it had good bite and texture it lacked a lot of flavour - I found some of the pieces too big - The mayo tasted like plain hellmans not at all like the yuzu mayo the menu says Combo meal: - No noodle substitutions were allowed even if you’re willing to pay the extra cost - Rice was mushy - Wakame salad was a little slimy - Takoyaki was also a little underdone - Ramen had the same notes as mentioned above Service was just okay. Greeted promptly and sat promptly but as soon as it started to get a little busier it was kinda oh well attitude? People who sat after us were served their bills sooner and left sooner. Was never asked about another drink or if anything else was needed. We understand busy is busy, but it wasn’t packed inside and we were very clearly ready to go.

Hard to find a place that just does good ramen this is it. Lots of places have other food and ramen on the side, here they do great ramen - order the standard one you get chicken and pork as well as egg and they also have a 1/2 price off appetizers happy hour. Great Vietnamese coffee too ( pictured iced) free parking in the back. Nice servers.
John H — Google review
Lots to say, but in short, try a different ramen restaurant. I sampled a ton thanks to their meal set and was VERY underwhelmed. The miso ramen is boring. The broth is thick hot water with almost literally no flavor, and there's definitely no harmony. It's like the broth was made using boxed stock/broth. They say there's a 12 hour in house broth cooked daily but it isn't working well. You know how many ramens and stews taste better as the flavors settle and sink in? That doesn't happen here. The chicken karage is solid but heavy on the breading. You get more crispy skin than chicken which isn't ideal if you're hungry. Or, you know, paying for chicken. The vegetarian gyoza are fine but nothing special. The bottoms look charred but taste soft, almost like the color was painted on - I know it's not, but it still looks that way. Then there's the vegetarian ramen... It's bad. It's bad enough that I can call it the worst vegetarian ramen I've tried. Truly no flavor and it's so unremarkable that I'm struggling to describe it. It's corn, chives, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and noodles floating in hot water. You will absolutely need to add salt and spice. You'll also notice that what you receive in both size and color doesn't match the menu photos. Look at the Monthly Combo in my menu photo. Best example is that the salad I was served was 1/4 the size and also missing tomato and cucumber as shown in the photo. Save your money, skip this spot.
Michael B — Google review
We were a bit disappointed about our order. The ramen was too salty for our liking, and noodles were overcooked. The chicken karaage tastes fine, but the meat was too dry. The only order we like was the Cho Ichi bun. Their prices I think are high for the quality and taste of food that they are serving. Although we acknowledged the great service and their efficiency, especially to the staff who handled us during that night. She was so nice and very accommodating. Parking here is not a problem.
Anna B — Google review
Amazing place for every occasion. Me and my mom came in for some quick dinner and it was truly an experience. The second we stepped in we were greeted by a waiter and quickly shown our table. Our waiters (Ashley and Juan) were super kind and very accommodating. While we waited for our food, we admired the cozy atmosphere which was very comforting. Our food came super quick and was super fresh. My mom ordered the original ramen and I ordered the spicy one. SO DELICIOUS? The broth was amazingly flavourful for both of them, the proteins were so tender, the egg was so soft and melted in my mouth and oh my god the noodles were delicious. Please come here if you are ever craving a delicious and fulfilling bowl of ramen!
Emma V — Google review
I've come back to update my review, as it's time I came back here to check on how Cho Ichi Ramen has been doing since opening. While the food may be fantastic, it doesn't make up for the lack of service. They've fallen victim to their own success and are simply too busy to tend to their influx of guests. They can still make a good ramen, but their service suffers because of this. We didn't come during peak hours, when we went they had one server in to tend to the whole restaurant. It took 20 minutes for the server to make it our way and welcome us at the table, another 20 to get food, and it's taken nearly 30 minutes to get our bill as I write this. The food is unfortunately not worth the lack of service, I can't recommend coming here.

Food was good, service was swift and efficient. It appears this place has a lot of followings as the diners seem to know the owner pretty well. The Butter Fried Chicken was good but my favourite was the Deluxe Fried Rice. Very smokey and full of layered flavours. The Bean Curd with Beef Stew Hot Pot had a very rich flavour profile. I feel bad leaving this review because the waiter was nice, but the food was really bad. The crab rangoons weren’t drained of oil at all and mostly had broccoli in them. The vegetables on the chow mein were in giant pieces and the sauce tasted off, kind of like those liquid cat treat things (I’m not trying to be mean but it was really bad). Made me feel sick so I stopped eating it. The chicken was cut up haphazardly and just thrown in a deep fryer, so it was still edible but very bland. The water tasted off. We didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to embarrass the staff in front of some other guests that had just come in, so I don’t know if they would’ve offered to comp it but I honestly just wanted to leave ASAP.

The last 2 times we tried the butter chicken. Both times, it’s not as good as before. I used to enjoy their butter chicken and I heard the management changed, hence the difference. Ordered chow mein too and it was bland.

New Hong Kong is a Chinese restaurant that stands out for its exceptional customer service and unique culinary offerings. This establishment is known for its friendly staff and incomparable food, setting it apart from any other dining experience. It's hard to put into words what makes this place so special, but once you've tasted their dishes, you'll understand why there's no comparison. For those new to the restaurant or seeking variety, the beginner plate offers a fantastic assortment of flavors.
Great authentic food from a restaurant that has been open for over 55 years. It looks closed from the outside. They are doing takeout only since COVID. You can call in advance with your order to get them to start making it so it's ready when you arrive. Very affordable and filling.

Delicious dim sum. Friendly staff. Still not open for dining, but they are planning to reopen sometime. We always get the beginner plate, which has shrunk over the years. However, it is a bargain at $7.80! Not a huge jump from $5 about 20 years ago. Next time we will add extra shrimp kow (used to be 4 in the beginner plate, but is 2 now).

This eatery specializes in authentic dishes from Mainland China, particularly known for its hand-pulled noodles that have been a staple long before they became trendy across the city. Diners rave about their rich and flavorful braised beef noodle soup, as well as other standout offerings like stir-fried lamb with cumin and stewed pork burgers.
Absolutely delicious Northern Chinese food. The iron wok chicken is outstanding and an enormous portion -- easily enough for three or four people. Hand pulled noodles perfect texture. Bok choy perfectly cooked. Nothing over salted.
Emily R — Google review
We had a good dining experience at Golden Loong, the hand pulled noodles have that nice chewy texture to it and the chilli oil adds that fragrant and a bit spicy kick to it, mapo tofu was also good though a tad salty when it was not as hot but perfect with rice, the lamb with pickled veggies in sour broth is perfect in this cold weather, pork bun would have been better if the pork was not so sloppy and the bun should be a bit more toasted on the bottom but otherwise good as well, cucumber in chilli oil is a perfect accompaniment to all of these as it cools down and refreshes the pallete. We would definitely come back and try out the other dishes, highly recommended!
Richard O — Google review
Authentic Chinese food from the northwest of China. Good fast service and fair price.I love the Xi’an cold noodles and the stir fried green beans. The green beans is one of my favourite dishes anywhere and anytime. If you like spicy food, this is the place I will recommend. I can’t eat too spicy food so just ask for light spicy level.
Emma G — Google review
Seemed very authentic, really neat how you can see the kitchen staff making the noodles. The dish that I ordered was very bland and just a ton of noodles. Very little pork and very little bok choy. That dish was recommended by the server but it needed more variety. Would like to go again and try a different dish.
Riley F — Google review
A great place to go for some spicy noodles. They were made fresh to order and were delicious
Quinn M — Google review
Got the stewed pork burger for 7.58$. It was delicious and the service was great. Will be back to try the other options.
Amin M — Google review
The food here is very tasty and authentic. I had the Ribs and Seaweed soup; it was great! It tastes nice and healthy. Had a little taste of a cumin dish with their handmade noodles; that was tasty as well. The staff were great and very kind. Although they do use too much soap when washing the floors, so it's a bit too slippery if you're worried about falling. The prices seemed a bit high, in my opinion, but very reasonable for a group to go eat out to eat.
Timiny C — Google review
The pros : good communication and good service , food is fast . Cons : too much spicy but this is on our ! You can ask them to lower the levels of spicy 🥵 The tofu and preserved eggs dish has a strange flavour ( not our tastes) Overall good experience with good friendly Servives! We will come back and try the rest of the menu .

Chinese restaurant
Double Greeting Chinese Snack House has been a beloved spot in Winnipeg for over 50 years, known for its comforting noodle soup dishes like beef brisket and wonton. The Shanghai fried noodle is highly recommended, and the rice roll with Chinese doughnut makes for a perfect ending to the meal. It's considered one of the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants in the city, serving traditional Chinese dishes such as chow mein, congee, and brisket noodles.
The wonton soup goes perfectly with the long doughnut. It is on a bit higher price side compared to other Chinese/Asian restaurants but totally worth it. Their fried rice and noodles plates have a bit more carb-to-meat ratio but overall still very flavorful. Both times we went they were really busy but the service and food still came out reasonably quick. No complaint at all.
Em — Google review
One of the best hole in the wall restaurants! I’ve been going here for 30+ years and the taste never disappoints. I might have to say their hot sauce is one of the best in the city, pairs well with everything on the menu. Their beef brisket is tasty and so tender. The Shanghai fried rice is a staple! Don’t let the small place and outdated decor fool you, they have some of the best soups in the city!
Maria D — Google review
The menu offers a selection of congee, noodles in soup, rice rolls and much more. Very good congee and noodles. the Lo mein come with a bowl of soup which you can dip the noodles in and it will be tasted even better. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, everything tastes good.
Emma G — Google review
I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant and feel the need to share it. I walked in with a takeaway coffee — my mistake, and I fully understand the restaurant’s policy. A male staff member approached me and reminded me about it. Im ok with that. But just a few minutes later, a young female staff member came over and began raising her voice at me in front of everyone. She didn’t ask or explain — she scolded me loudly and publicly, making me feel completely embarrassed and disrespected. To be clear: I had already been reminded once, respectfully. There was absolutely no need for a second confrontation — especially one that was rude and aggressive. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and unacceptable. A calm, respectful approach was all that was needed — instead, I was humiliated over something that had already been addressed. Also, to be honest, the food here is just average — nothing special. With that kind of service and forgettable food, I honestly don’t see any reason to come back or recommend this place to anyone. Good service is not just about enforcing rules — it’s about how you treat people. And I was treated with zero respect.
Khôi B — Google review
Great place to go if you're in the mood for delicious, un-fussy food. Love the broth they use for their noodle soups, but I haven't had anything here that I did not like. During my last visit, there was a mix-up with my order pick up times but the host was very kind and apologetic. And the restaurant threw in a few extra goodies to make up for it. Their staff members are also lovely. Highly recommended.
Alexis B — Google review
Shrimp dumpling soup was our favorite, special chow mein very nice, crispy noodles delicious! Pork bun for dessert also very yummy ! Will be back.
Jordon C — Google review
This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The older female server was shockingly rude and dismissive — especially toward Asian customers — despite being Asian herself. Her blatant favoritism toward white customers was disgusting and unacceptable. The service was appalling, the food was bland and forgettable, and the place felt dirty and poorly maintained. Avoid this place at all costs. Absolutely disgraceful.
N W — Google review
I ordered a takeaway from her. It was cold when it was delivered. I have been checking the delivery map. The delivery man has been waiting here. During this period, he also called to inquire. The shopkeeper was very rude. There was no apology. I will never patronize again. If there are zero points, I will give it to her.

ordered dinner from here, it was amazing. very good portions for a good price!

The food was absolutely horrible and they tell you it’s one type of meat and the food shows up with a completely different cheaper meat that does not look like meat.
Sundas K — Google review
Food was great with decent vegan options. Portion size was also large. They did commit the cardinal sin of Chinese takeout/delivery: no cutlery! I would order again though.
Spencer R — Google review
I’ve been getting take out here for many years. Family visiting from out of the country would always want Dragon River when they got here. Their food is always fresh & well cooked. The sauces are flavourful & I’ve never gotten a bad dish.
Frosty — Google review
What a pleasant surprise. Ordered through skip, and our order came 45 minutes late but the food was still hot. I really appreciate that it was either remade or at the very least reheated. The food was great. Dim sum tastes homemade and doesn't feel like it has filler. Will definitely order again and go to the restaurant myself to pick up so I can thank the owners properly. Would recommend.

Was pleasantly surprised when we decided to order this using a discount on Uber. Ordered sweet and Sour shrimp, chow mein, lemon chicken, ginger beef, and dry pork. Everything was amazing!!!! Egg roll was a bit of a let down compared to the rest of the food. Most if the time when I try a new chinese restaurant I am consistently let down. It was so nice to get good chinese food for once!!! Will be ordering again! New fave.

If your looking for a review to tell you to eat here or not this is the one! Ordered for the first time last night and YUM, flavors are so good. Tastes like authentic home-cooked with LOVE food. We even got a free dish for ordering over 50$. Plus the young gentleman working the front has the greatest hospitality and service. Will recommend to everyone!

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Winnipeg, FU LIN Chinese Restaurant has been delighting diners since the 1970s with its authentic North Chinese cuisine. This hidden gem boasts an inviting atmosphere adorned with elegant lanterns and cozy wooden tables, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal or special occasion. The menu is brimming with must-try dishes like har gow, siu mai, and xiao long bao that promise to tantalize your taste buds.
Although service was a bit slow, the food was really good! The chicken noodle soup was good, and was a large portion for the price. I really loved the chicken chow mein - it was a little greasy, but the flavor was delicious. We also ordered the cabbage and pork dumplings that were super tasty!
Melissa F — Google review
Some Chinese food is not meant for Chinese people. The fried rice with pork sauce: using chopped up hotdogs is not pork. If hotdogs had been in the picture of the food in the photo, I would not have ordered it. The wonton noodle soup: if I wanted instant noodles to be used with the soup, I would’ve made them myself and saved some money. (Cantonese) Tong yen mmm ho sik hai nee dtoe.

Great for real Chinese from a real Chinese chef. Highly recommended for great noodles, noodle soup, stews and casseroles and of course outstanding sir fries. Lots of traditional and unusually dishes from Northeast China.

This is one of those places blending into it's environment. You probably went by it a hundred times not knowing. 5 years in this area and i now just ate here. What a fool i am. Never again will i order elsewhere. So fresh and amazingly tasty. Super friendly. P.s. you'll need a translator...that being said..you know you're getting great authentic food.
CSpray717 — Google review
Been a few times and the food has been great every time. Tried the bbq most recently and it was so good! The cucumber salad was refreshing and flavourful, the braised pork rib stew was delicious and the meat melted in your mouth. The staff were friendly and suggested items for us to try. We tried the bbq lamb skewers and they were perfectly cooked and crisp. I’ve recommended the hand pulled noodles to everyone I know because they are to die for. The steam twisted rolls are a sleeper hit, seemingly reminding everyone of a dish from their childhood. At the end of every meal I start trying to think of who I know that I haven’t roped into going yet so I can introduce someone else to this easily overlooked gem.
Patrick W — Google review
Amazing flavours and a great variety of options! A staff member helped us choose a barbecue lamb skewer and it did not disappoint. We ordered braised pork rib stew and it is by far the most juicy, flavourful ribs I’ve had in my life. Definitely will come again!

*** MUST GO - THE ONLY PLACE IN WPG FOR BEST AUTHENTIC NORTH CHINESE SKEWERS *** I was craving Chinese meat skewers for months now & found this place via google maps search I was little skeptical going here, saw past reviews about this restaurant being well 5 stars years ago before then saw the recent reviews that were given a one star, I wasn't sure who to trust so I went here with a Toronto foodie friend of mine & he gave it the foodie stamp approval! PROS - the only north chinese restaurant with the best beef, chicken, lamb skewers! - authentic North Chinese food, doesn't get better than this 🥵 - cumin chow mein is to die for - we ordered one wrong dish due to language barrier but it still ended up being phenomenal! - food well balanced portions of spicy, flavorful & deliciousness! - vintage interior - tons of menu items to choose from! - staff is friendly, but you'll definitely need a translator to speak chinese to order CONS - limited seating, small space inside & only has one door to the entrance from outside, you definitely will walk by it - residential or main street parking only - outdated restaurant sign so you'll definitely drive right by this place will be coming back to try the rest of the types of skewers, hot pot, moo shu & other traditional dishes! HAD NO COMPLAINTS, MOUTH DROOLING AUTHENTIC NORTHERN CHINESE FOOD - MUST GO
Christian N — Google review
The first time I came here I wasn't as impressed. The second time was better. The first time we got the hot pot with pancakes on the side. I was not a fan of the pancakes. Very mediocre. The stuff inside was fine. The dumplings were good! For skewers.... The lamb skewers were the best. The beef skewers second for me. The chicken skin was fine but we were expecting a drier crunchier skin and it was more limp and moist. For something different we ordered the ox throat skewers. It was bland and didn't taste like much, however the point is dip in the sauce that was very good. It's spicy and gives a tingle. We also did an egg noodle dish that was tasty. You can taste a hint of vinegar that helps cut the fat I'm the dish. Street parking is available

Restaurant
Glory Dim Sum 点盛祥 offers a variety of dim sum options, with some standout dishes such as the shrimp rice roll, beef tendon, and pork dumplings. While the shrimp dumpling has good flavor, the wrapper is thicker than ideal. The seafood dumpling has a strong white pepper taste that may not appeal to everyone. On the other hand, BBQ pork buns and bean curd rolls are recommended for their delicious flavors.
This Dim Sum restaurant was great! The food was delicious and there are a lot of options in the menu! The service was great too. I totally recomment it!
Jesus — Google review
Wouldn’t say this is the best dim sum but they do a few things very well. The shrimp rice roll, beef tendon and pork dumplings are some of the best in the city. The shrimp dumpling isn’t bad flavor wise but the wrapper is thicker than it should be and lacking the bamboo shoots that some better dumplings possess. Seafood dumpling has a lot of white pepper flavor which may not be to everyone’s liking. BBQ pork buns had a nice flavor. Bean curd rolls were great. Soup dumplings were unimpressive. Meat inside was extremely dense and lacked flavor, especially since no ginger and vinegar were offered with it. Nice new alternative to the downtown dim sum establishments. Would return. Service is by carts. Two price points: regular $4.29 (most dishes) and $5.99 for their “special” dishes.
L. L — Google review
After not being able to order the deep-fried squid, I was offered an alternative of deep-fried shrimp roll. I was very disappointed to find that the deep-fried shrimp roll came as three pieces and all three had a moldy-tasting flavour even though they looked normal. I was very unhappy with that, otherwise, the other food was ok.
Moon L — Google review
I grew up on dim sum, and I've had great dim sum in LA, Portland, Honolulu, Vancouver, and a couple places here in Winnipeg, including Garden and Kum Koon. Glory Dim Sum had the freshest dim sum I've ever had! Dim sum is traditionally served from carts and I definitely miss that style, but this place made me appreciate the advantage of ordering dim sum from a menu. Everything was clearly made to order and served piping hot, including the jian dui (sesame seed ball dessert), which I have NEVER had this fresh. The jian dui might have been the highlight of the meal—the texture was so perfect. Recommendations: the vegetarian rice roll was incredible, with superb texture and perfect seasoning. Soup dumplings were so so, not quite as juicy as expected. The lo mai gai (sticky rice with meat steamed in lotus leaf, my favorite dim sum dish) was comparable to most places (that is to say, very good—I've rarely had bad lo mai gai) but the fact that it was so freshly made bumped it up a notch. The fried turnip cake was also wonderful, though they forgot to bring it to us and we had to ask after it. The jian dui is a must try. Looking forward to trying some of their other desserts next time, as many were out of stock.

Great dim sum. Lots of options and good amount of food. Food was nice and hot when it was served.
Lo R — Google review
I’ve tried a lot of dim sum places in Winnipeg and to be fair, this dim sum place was not as good as I expected. I’d love more variety in the menu. The siu mai was pretty hard and some fried dish weren’t hot. My only favorite dish was the chicken feet.
Katherine P — Google review
After seeing this place on IG I was so excited to try it. So we took my mom her for her birthday and after our experience I wish we stuck with our usual fav (Tang Dynasty) . The service was non-existent. After they sat us down it took them 30 mins to get us a menu (I had to ask), we had to ask for waters 3x. I am one to usually forgive poor service if the food is good but no luck there. The dumplings were large but flavourless, the Chinese donut rice roll was too hard to even bite, the tofu with seafood had no flavour and the sauce was gelatinous, and beef ball looked pink. I’ve been enjoying dim-sum for decades and this is the worst I’ve had! Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!
Rizza R — Google review
Such a cute place. I really enjoyed the food. The spring roll, soup dumplings, shrimp dumplings and noodle rolls were great. The sticky rice and the custard buns awesome too. I really want to go again to try the noodle soup. Envied the people around us slurping away.
