Vibes here were immaculate. You enter past the UNESCO stone sign and up the stairs to the right is this cafe tucked away. You take your shoes off and put on one of their offered slippers and order at the counter or take a seat and press the call button when you're ready to order. Many drink options, I for the iced hazelnut latte and matcha latte both with soy milk because I'm vegan. So grateful when a place offers soy milk, it's my favorite! The coffee was strong and the drink was delicious. The matcha one was surprisingly a bit sweet but that's ok for me. Inside is so fun with many options for seating, a couch, chairs, stools. So fun!

We loved the ambience of the shop and it's right beside the station. The bottled cheesecake we tried was hella tasty and I loved the little bottle it came in.

Visit of Nikko itself is a great experience. And you can make it even better if you visit this cake shop. Coffee is better than one would expect from the coffee machine they have and the cakes are delicious! The cheese cake is so delicious!! Creamy on the inside and sour on the outside. The yoghurt drink’s size is big! And the texture of it is same as the cake but drinkable. Strongly recommend this shops cheese cake and yoghurt drink. It only cost round ¥1110. Hope this helps

My husband and I tried to sit down for a slice of cake and coffee here. They would not let us buy a slice of cake. When we bought a whole cake they refused to let us go upstairs to eat it. The cheese cake itself is a prepackaged, frozen, piece of cardboard that was apparently shipped from Denmark. Do Not Go Here!

They cheese cake is delicious. They offer whole cheese cake in large and small sizes. The taste, it’s delicious, except for the frosting: it’s too sour. But I agree it’s their unique recipe. It doesn’t spoil the rate, just adds a sour note, that I don’t like on my cheese cake. Also the dine in option ends by 5:30 PM.

Curry and Omurice sets were heavenly! Staff was very attentive and courteous. Would recommend the cafe for a satisfying meal when visiting Nikko.

Nikko Coffee has a great vibe to it. The food is delicious. We had the lunch set (meal, drink and cake). The galette and the omurice were both very good. The cake was a nice treat, too.

It's best to order a set menu, which includes a main course, dessert, and a drink of your choice. The staff is polite and very helpful. You can also buy coffee on-site, which they roast and grind themselves. I recommend it to anyone looking to unwind after the attractions of Nikko.

We loved the esthetics of the place and the slow brewery concept of taking the correct time to prepare your optimal tea or special coffee. I took an Irish coffee and it was perfect! My husband a tea with a cake combo and it was delicious. We find the place a bit pricy but the proportions of the cake and tea 🫖 pots are in equilibrium. The girl that served us spoke very little English and wasn’t too friendly but maybe I should read her as just shy.

We came here thinking it was the Nikko Coffee that serves good matcha however this place doesn’t have it on their menu. The food was overpriced and not great. The curry sauce was good but we got 3 small pieces of meat only. Staff seemed not very happy. Forced to get a drink at least with your meal and cannot swap it for dessert so I got all 3 but the chocolate cake left more to be desired sadly. Wouldn’t come again. Save your money!

Owner is very friendly and welcoming. She is the only one in the cafe who cook and make coffee for us with love😋. Love the yuba with brown rice it's so healthy with no oil. Cafe latte just so so. Quiet and peaceful ambience in the cafe. Price is not cheap but most restaurant and cafe here are around this price.

There are two omurice rice options, one with a demi glace sauce and the other is tomato based. We ordered one of each. The tomato-based sauce was on the sweet side, but the demi glace sauce was more savory and the meatballs it came with were quite tender and flavorful. Get that one! It's only bar seating and we went before closing, so no wait and service was quick. The pickled daikons were fresh and delicious. It was a very satisfying meal.

This was the first time I ever tried omurice and it was sooooo good! I didn’t know what to order and the chef was very friendly and patient and recommended the specialty omurice with the curry option. I love curry so I said yes please. He expertly prepared the dish while I sipped on some lovely red wine. In perfect timing, the dish was presented beautifully and eaten with great itadakimasu 🤗 very yummy and highly recommend going!

Chill bar with lots of Tapas to go with your drink! The owner recommended a Nikko local brew-I Ro Wa. I ordered the Shabu Shabu pork, grilled pork, yuba, croquette, and the seasonal cherry blossom Omurice with cheese on top! Everything was tasty, with my favorite being the shabu shabu pork!! The owner seems to really like hip hop and r&b :) lots of Beyoncé, Neyo, etc. I’d visit again!

Quaint, near the shrine and wonderful food. We did not get the omurice this time as we were not that hungry but we got the picked radish, fried/sautéed chicken and the cheese wontons (made with mozzarella) and it was delicious. Lovely place to rest and relax without a lot of people. We will come back and try the omurice which is supposed to be excellent.

I also loved how they offer complimentary tea to have with the manju. I was in Nikko for 2 days and had the manju 4 times. 11/10 would return.

Strange food for me but its tasty. The outside is crispy and salty because the salt they sprinkle at the top. The filling is not so sweet. Its perfect balance between sweet and salty.

Lovely hot fresh tempura red bean paste "bun" with a cup of free hot tea. A constant queue here. Benches to sit on in front of the shop. And ya, don't feed the pigeons.

I am not lying when I say the fried manju was probably one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. This salty, sweet, crispy and soft treat was delicious. Made even better on a cold and rainy day in Nikko. Only regret was not buying two, as the owner was closing up when we went back for more. 10/10

This manju is the best ever, I can visit Nikko again and again just to eat this. It has a lightly salty and crispy outside texture with a sweet red bean filling inside. They serve it warm too so perfect during the winters.

Their famous beefstew is awesome! Eating while viewing the chuzenji lake is priceless!

Overpriced food that is not the greatest quality. We ordered the beef stew and mostly got fatty bits and very few meat pieces. Pity as it’s a nice spot. The drinks were pricey too. We paid 7200 for 2 drinks, the stew and the naan hotdog.

Great little coffee place after wandering around world heritage site for a few hours and needed a break before heading into the museum. Pizza toast set 1270 was very tasty, fresh and hot and just what I needed. Small and busy on Saturday but good table service.

Good place to rest up but one very expensive place to rest up. Coffee goes up to 700-800yen. Their lemonade soda is like 900yen…. With barely liquid in it because there was a lot of ice. But again, the place is pretty nice to rest up. Just be wary of the high price. Apple pie was good though. As well as the ice cream.

They also had at least 8 other flavors but we only got to try the original, matcha and their in house flavor. Truly a lovely experience having the pudding on their outdoor section whilst enjoying the views of the mountains.

Easy to pop in and grab a pudding on the way to/from the train stations. We tried the Nikko and strawberry puddings (rated #1 and #2) and as soon as we were finished bought a couple more jars to go. Very delicious and easy to eat! A good snack with lovely packaging. Recommend trying them out if you're in town!

Super cute, a lot of fun and delicious pudding with so much creativity to it. There were so many different flavours, but I had to narrow it down to 2 so on this outing I had the coffee and original pudding. The matcha would have been very interesting. When I came there was a line but it goes very quickly, waited in queue for about 10 mins (came an hour before closing time which probably explains it) Very delicious, not overly sweet but still has great flavour and wonderful presentation.

They have a foreign girl who speaks good English & fluent Japanese - was easy to order and understand the flow of things. Tried quite a number of flavours - think we ordered about 8 jars total for 5 of us. One that stood out most to me was the ice cream & original pudding. Ice cream was very creamy & not overly sweet, and the pudding after finishing the ice cream was a delight. I'd recommend it! Don't forget to swap your used glasses for an empty one. Very cute to take home.

The original nikko pudding was really nice, soft and smooth. The strawberry one is so so, too eggy and the sauce is too sweet. I wish I bought the original instead of this. The shop is always busy and quite small so it is hard to sit and eat there. They do provide the ice pack if you take out and need to travel somewhere. Packaging was super cute though! A lovely restaurant that serves decent coffee and food. We enjoyed the toast with cheese and beef curry with rice. The restaurant also offers a breathtaking view of Lake Chuzenji as you dine. Price-wise are decent too.

A perfect way to start your day of exploring lake chuzenji if you arrive early and don’t want something heavy for breakfast. The view from inside is amazing as well. Had the Aoi Gozen for lunch and it was quite the treat, especially after wandering around Ueno Toshogu Shrine. The meal was beautifully presented and just the right size, featuring a variety of vegetarian tapas like pickles, tofu, and agar, all paired with chestnut rice and a soup. A delightful dining experience! However, the restaurant's layout was a bit cramped, with tables packed too closely together. It made getting in and out a bit of a challenge, especially for those seated further inside. I was in the middle, so it was slightly easier for me, but I couldn't help but think about anyone needing to make frequent trips to the restroom. It could definitely be a hassle. So, while the meal itself was enjoyable, the seating arrangement could use some rethinking. Giving it a 3.5-star rating for the great food but less-than-ideal space management.
