Nordico Coffee House, located in Tamarindo, is a laptop-friendly cafe with a minimalist Nordic design and a relaxed atmosphere. It offers a variety of artisanal coffee, specialty drinks, and delicious breakfast options. The cafe is known for its stable WiFi, cool temperatures, and favorite items like acai bowls and smoothies. Nordico brews everything from Americanos to cold-brew lattes and ice cream-infused affogatos.
Was amazing experience at this coffee shop. The view is unmatched. It overseas the three roads that get together right in front of it and all the action is happening in front of it. Staff was super friendly and the options for coffees are almost indefinable. Wi-Fi sucks a little bit, but can go around. A lot of gluten-free options. Super chill place.

Great place to eat a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Western options also available. Does offer cocktails and speciality coffees. Staff all speak English really well and are very kind and friendly. There is an inside and outside seating . The patio lets you have a nice view of the city. Good was delicious . I ate here at least 5x while in Tamarindo.

This little cafe in Tamarindo is one of the few where you can find outdoor seating on the terrace, and indoor seating with AC. The decor is classic coffee shop with Pura Vida vibes. There is a lot of seating so you’ll never have to worry about finding space to enjoy your meal or work on your computer. The menu isn’t exceptional, but there is something for everyone—I really like the açaí bowls and breakfast menu. They have a great selection of coffees which is the most important of all! If you are looking to work here, they have great WiFi but it does get noisy so keep that in mind if you have meetings. It’s a great cafe and definitely recommend a visit!
Samantha N — Google review
Don’t miss this gem of a coffee shop on the second story of the Tamarindo busy strip. It has a great view for sitting outside people watching or getting stay inside for shade and quality air conditioning. Best coffee in town and the consistency stayed the whole vacation. Not to mention the food is so fresh with great portion sizes. The staff are all polite and in great spirits.
Jenna K — Google review
Pour over coffee is great! Dylan made a good recommendation between Peabody and black honey. The dessert was okay. I wish they have cakes. But overall, good place for coffee!
Bernice D — Google review
Nordico has become my go-to spot during my extended stay in Tamarindo. Over the past several weeks, I've found myself returning again and again - and for good reason! The coffee here is consistently excellent, and what I really appreciate about the staff is how intuitive they are about their customers' needs. They're incredibly friendly and welcoming, but they also know when to give you space to work or just enjoy your coffee in peace. The second-floor setup is perfect - you can choose between the air-conditioned interior when you need a break from the humidity and want to get some work done (the WiFi is reliable!) or grab a seat on the balcony for some great people-watching while overlooking the main square below. There's something really enjoyable about sipping your coffee and watching Tamarindo come to life from this vantage point. Whether you're looking for a quick caffeine fix or a comfortable spot to spend a few hours, Nordico delivers on both the quality and atmosphere. It's clear why so many locals and visitors alike keep coming back. Highly recommended!
Anthony D — Google review
I had such a great experience at Nordico in Tamarindo today thanks to Dylan, the barista. He was incredibly welcoming, took the time to explain the different kinds of drip coffee, and made me feel right at home. Our conversation was a pleasure, and his kindness and professionalism really stood out. I’ll definitely be coming back — thank you, Dylan! And they allow your pups on the outdoor balcony!

Very quiet place with a quaint atmosphere. Sat on the balcony with a nice soft breeze, and the love of my life sitting beside me, couldn’t have asked for a better morning!!!

Café Tico is a charming tropical coffee haven nestled just off the main road, boasting a delightful outdoor patio enveloped in lush greenery. This cozy spot not only serves up exquisite coffee sourced from local Costa Rican farms but also offers an array of delicious food options that cater to all tastes. Whether you're craving a traditional Costa Rican breakfast or refreshing fruit smoothies, Café Tico has something for everyone.
Here's a short review: Found a breakfast haven in Costa Rica! We loved it so much we went back twice! Fresh, delicious food, generous portions, and creative dishes made our mornings unforgettable. Quick, attentive service and a warm atmosphere made us feel right at home. Highly recommend for a fantastic breakfast experience
Evelyn G — Google review
Everything was wonderful. I ordered the divorced eggs, chicken was a little over cooked but the sauce helped, I also loved the hot sauce. My boyfriend got the rancheros eggs and he said it wasn’t bad but wasn’t the best. Freshly squeezed orange juice was great as well
Stephanie H — Google review
Such a great and authentic cafe! The breakfast was absolutely delicious—fresh and flavorful. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. The service was just as impressive—warm, attentive, and so friendly. Perfect spot to start the day. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a cozy atmosphere, great coffee, and a seriously good breakfast! 🍳
Ashley A — Google review
They offer an array of selections that appeals to all eaters, vegetarians, carnivores and vegans. Our server, MariLu is extremely attentive, kind and honestly like Family. Their organic (real fruit, not processed syrups) smoothies are the best. The most difficult part is figuring out what to order. We took a fruit smoothie to go, because it was too hard to resist.
Lissette M — Google review
Came here for our last breakfast in Costa Rica, and right off the bat we loved just how cute this place looked. Starting with some fresh hot coffee and OJ and we ordered the breakfast tacos and the Tipical breakfast. The tacos were definitely the way to go, the Tipical was good, but honestly lacked a little seasoning and wasn't particularly exciting at the end of the day. But one hidden gem is their got sauce they had on the table, just a small little unlabled jug that was quite hot but delicious, I was tempted to steal it and bring it home with me! The woman running the place was incredibly sweet and attentive and would be one of the reasons I'd be happy to comeback to Tamarindo and try some more of their coffee specials!
Tom G — Google review
Came here this morning to get a smoothie and the banana espresso one was absolutely amazing! The service was amazing and definitely recommend it, won't regret it! The owner was a total sweetheart considering I was dealing with a lot this morning, so decided to come back for a breakfast. Muchas gracias de nuevo, pura vida! 🙏🏽🇨🇷😭

We had an absolutely amazing breakfast here. The milkshakes and coffee are delicious too. Definitely a hidden gem of Tamarindo.

Amazing little spot in Tamarindo! We accidentally stumbled upon this gem while checking out the tours available in the area. Jay, the owner is awesome and puts so much passion into his cooking, and it shows! He and the staff are so friendly and take pride in making you feel at home. Our family during our 12 day stay in Costa Rica made this our regular go-to for breakfast. Some of the items we highly recommend: (vegan options available) Poached eggs on toast with fresh avocado spread and tomato Bacon and scrambled eggs smoothies Poor Man’s Breakfast Cafe Americano Espresso Frozen Banana Pancakes Fresh fruit Breakfast tacos (veggie option, this was my absolute favorite) Homemade Simple Syrup (served with coffee) Homemade salsa on the side is to die for!! (Check out the online menu for details) Service- Excellent Ambiance- quaint little place nestled in town surrounded by the jungle life and local vibes, casual and chill, family oriented Price- great for the service and fresh food! Will miss this place when we head back to LA! Thanks again Jay for the amazing food, hospitality, and sharing your local contacts for things to do while we vacation! Pura Vida!

Sol Bakery is a newly established bakery in Tamarindo that has gained popularity since its opening after the pandemic. This European-style cafe offers a wide range of delectable pastries, egg dishes, and sandwiches for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. It is an excellent choice if you're seeking something distinctive and flavorful to eat while in Tamarindo.
Sol Bakery was a delightful surprise...and easily one of my favorite food finds in Costa Rica. It’s a small, no-frills bakery, and yes, it was definitely warm inside the day we visited, but oh my goodness was it worth it. The almond croissant I had was truly out of this world; crispy, buttery, and perfectly filled. I’ve traveled through Europe and had a lot of pastries, but this one might just take the cake (or croissant?). The iced coffee was refreshing and served with a cute little flower that made me smile. We tried a few other pastries and were equally impressed. I only wish we had found this place earlier in our trip because I would’ve gone back every morning. A must-visit if you’re anywhere nearby!
Angela C — Google review
I wish I had more time in Tamarindo so I could come by this spot more. Has everything you could ask for in a bakery and cafe. Pastries are so delicious - the cinnamon bun may look overly decadent but it is SO good. The dulce de leche croissant is also a killer, I wish I could get that back in NYC. The quiche was super dense and delicious. Their iced vanilla matcha latte - on point! Their beef tacos are super juicy, I also really liked the shrimp tacos. They're always super friendly and there's plenty of seating. Loved coming here after a good surf to refuel.
Shirley L — Google review
We tried 6 different baked goods and they were all delicious! Highly recommend! If you see something you want, better get it because they did sell out of cinnamon rolls the first day that we went. The cookie was perfectly soft on the inside. The mud pie was soooo good! Same with the dulce de leche croissant 🤌😋
Leia B — Google review
I loved these breakfast tacos!! The French toast was also very appetizing and of course breakfast/brunch isn’t complete without a mimosa! A must visit in Tamarindo.
Sean L — Google review
The smell of the bread from the bakery is divine! The food is wonderful, and the service is even better (Gracias Arnoldo!)! Live music at night too in a chill, relaxed atmosphere.
Michel P — Google review
Stopped here to grab a coffee & snack. We actually had a street vendor recommend this place as having the best coffee around & here wasn’t lying. They also had the flakiest crescent rolls. The atmosphere was really charming
Glenn J — Google review
Highly recommend for taco Tuesday, when all tacos are $3 along with drink specials. Tacos are generously filled and delicious. Cozy, intimate outdoor space, with live music on our visit. Worth noting the only food served on taco Tuesday menu is tacos and chips and guac.
Eric P — Google review
We ordered the French toast and the omlette, both delicious. The house made ice tea was delicious! And we saw the Bakery bring out fresh chocolate crossiants and were able to grab a warm one, it was huge and perfectly flaky!

Waffle Monkey is a delightful beachfront cafe in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, offering a unique blend of delicious waffles and the tropical beauty of the shoreline. With its cozy setting along the coast, patrons can indulge in an array of waffle creations while taking in stunning ocean views. The menu boasts classic toppings like fresh fruits and whipped cream as well as inventive combinations inspired by local flavors.
Quick service. Great waffles! Had the ham & cheese savory with an egg and husband had the chicken n waffle. Big serving size, gluten free options
Kelsey E — Google review
Waffle Monkey in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, was so yummy! It felt a little indulgent, like dessert for breakfast. It was so tasty, both the savory and the sweet ones. Met some really sweet people while there from Arizona. I rated it lower on atmosphere, because since it sits on one of the public beach access walkways, its atmosphere wasn't as "clean" as it might have been if located elsewhere. However, that's not to discount its vibe, nor speak to the cleanliness of the kitchen. (I have no direct knowledge of the kitchen.) The vibe is very much aligned with the vibe of Tamarindo. Takeaway: Great treat or breakfast!
Elisia F — Google review
I’ve come here an embarrassing amount of times on my trip. The staff are friendly and you can’t beat a yummy breakfast with a view! The chocolate lovers, nuts about chocolate, & chicken and waffles are all very yummy. Great place to go if you have a waffle craving 🤤
Brynn — Google review
This place is delicious! I completely understand the obsession. My wife and I got waffles, frappe coffee and a side of bacon. A bit pricey but the food and views are so worth it.
Cassy — Google review
Waffle Monkey made the food list simply because of the name. Tried it for breakfast on day 3, and I thought it was incredible. We had the Waffle Monkey and Chicken and Waffles with a slushy (passion fruit/strawberry mix). Oh, we also had a side of bacon. Everything tasted great (except the chicken). The chicken lacked flavor (my opinion). Waffle tasted great, bacon was very crispy, bannans were fresh, and slush was very good, too. The Atmosphere gets 4 stars because it's outdoor eating, and I don't care to eat outdoors with the flies and bugs...that's just me. Highly recommend this spot while in Tamarindo. They are open from 7am to 3pm.
Mellanies S — Google review
We were really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, the atmosphere made us uncomfortable. While we were dining, a person wearing a MAGA hat walked by, and the owner and his son (Australians living in Costa Rica) along with the neighboring Forget Me Not Beach Boutique owner loudly praised them. It felt inappropriate and made the environment feel unwelcoming. We won’t be back, and I will share this to everyone to make sure people know. Too funny being an immigrant business owner in Costa Rica while supporting fascism and discrimination among those who are working for you, living amongst you, and who welcomed you into their country (their Latino workers).
Claudia L — Google review
Yummy waffles right on the beach in Tamarindo. The waffles were nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My waffle was fantastic and the bacon was slightly crispy, but not over cooked. My sister and husband had the cheese waffle and didn’t like them so much. My parents had the chicken and waffles and loved it! The serving sizes were fairly large. The seating is down the alley way to the beach. There were four tables by the counter that seated two or three people each. Overall, good place for breakfast. We are going to the one at Flamingo Beach in a couple of days, if that tells you anything.
Amber S — Google review
The sandwiches were both so good! The meat and the bread were both such good quality. The cookies n cream waffle (added Nutella) was amazing, the ice cream it came with was super thick

La Bodega is a popular spot in Tamarindo, offering all-day breakfast with fresh, local, and organic ingredients. The eatery serves traditional Costa Rican breakfast platters like Gallo Pinto along with coffee and fresh-squeezed juice. Additionally, it offers scrumptious sandwich specials for a midday meal or light evening bite. La Bodega is known for its cozy atmosphere and locally sourced food made with love.
Off a busy and dusty street on the outskirts of Tamarindo, this is one of our favorite eateries in Tamarindo. We had different sandwiches and they were all good. The coconut chicken uses dark meat and it has a hint of tamarind that makes it stands out from other local chicken sandwiches. The shrimp avocado sandwich was also tasty with excellent buns. It’s located a bit back from the busy street, but it is across from Banco Nacional just in case you can’t find it. Service is excellent and you definitely should try this place out. Update: Today I had an opportunity to try chef’s latest creation: kimchi chicken sandwich. The sandwich was full of flavors, the chicken was fried to a perfection and of course the homemade buns were excellent. By the way, all entries come with a drink and we recommend the passion fruit juice.
Big C — Google review
Excellent quality food with wonderful service! After 20 days all over Costa Rica this was one of our favorite meals. We had the smoothie with fresh fruit (6 kinds), organic Greek yogurt, pure raw honey, chianti seeds and homemade peanut butter. Cold and very filling on it's own. We shared the Ensalada Especial with chicken. Que Rico! A cool relaxed atmosphere outside on their shaded deck.
Vincent F — Google review
We enjoyed a sandwich which also included a beverage and a side of home made plantain chips. Everything was excellent. The chips were delicious with a taste of fresh lime juice. The bread was home made and truly superb - like a super soft foccaccia. The beverage we chose was passion fruit juice ... so good it's addicting. The sandwich had fresh lettuce, tomato and grilled shrimp. The split our meal onto two plates so we could share. This lunch meal won't be forgotten. La Bodega restaurant is simple, unpretentious and absolutely excellent.

A great place to grab some breakfast and coffee. My boyfriend and I had a great experience here - good vibes, good food. We spoke with Richard for some time and it was so lovely getting to know more about him and connecting over our shared interests. Everyone at La Bodega was so friendly and made sure we were having a great time. I got the omelette with sausage and my boyfriend got the breakfast sandwich with sausage. Both delicious. Make sure to try the hot sauce, it's fabulous. Not to mention, the prices here are great and the service was exemplary! It's a bit further off the main road but still very easy to get to. Would love to come here again. Wishing you all the best.

I ordered take-out here. While I was waiting I had a nice conversation with one of the employees and also got to see the monkeys crossing their bridge and playing in the trees. The breakfast sandwiches were tasty. I recommend trying the one with the trout if you’re adventurous.

La Bodega is a sweet spot just off the main strip in downtown Tamarindo.. I stopped in on this rainy morning for a coffee but ended up grabbing myself a breakfast sandwich.. The owner was there and he was not only helpful but super friendly too.. Their prices are surprisingly low and the food amazing.. The latte that I ordered was perfect and even though it was raining I was able to enjoy my food outside on their cover d deck.. While waiting for my breakfast I checked out their selection of local food and health products and even though I didn’t have much money on me, I plan on grabbing some when we I return with my family for breakfast.. A great spot for a great cup of coffee, give La Bodega a shot next time you’re looking for a pick me up in Tamarindo..

Breaking Bread is a popular bakery and cafe located near a skatepark, offering an open garage concept for guests to relax and enjoy freshly made breads like challah, buns, and baguettes. The menu also includes delectable iced lattes and chocolate croissants. This beloved spot is perfect for breakfast or lunch before heading to the beach. With its welcoming atmosphere, it's an ideal place to savor smooth espresso-based drinks alongside freshly baked pastries and breads.
I had the most incredible sandwich on the tastiest fresh bread. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was incredibly delicious. The pesto and chicken and crunchy bread all fused together to make one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. There’s not a ton of seating, but we didn’t have to wait. We will definitely be back.
Dave E — Google review
My wife, son, daughter-in-law and their two young children sadly only discovered the joys of Breaking Bread 3 days before we left Costa Rica. We ended up coming all 3 of those days. What a hidden gem! We’d thought it was just a gimmicky play on words of our favourite tv series. It was so much more. We had the french challah toast (best we’ve ever had), Heisenberg Bowl (amazing), shakshouka (fabulous), delicious smoothies (refreshing and not too sweet), frothy lattes, creamy cappuccinos and Ice moccacino (my fave). We also indulged ourselves on their decadent homemade banana bread, challah, croissants and focaccia. Then for our flight home, we picked up Cuban and Spicy Tuna paninis. Wow! The owners and servers were incredibly generous and friendly, especially Anat. Great BB coffee beans and souvenir tees, too. Mucho gracias, Breaking Bread.

This place was just up the street from our accommodations in Tamarindo, so my husband and I stopped in for breakfast. As huge fans of Breaking Bad, we couldn’t resist the clever pun of this restaurant. We shared the shakshuka, which was absolutely amazing! It was served with warm, challah bread and was the perfect portion for two. We also had delicious iced lattes. They have some delicious-looking pastries as well, so we may have to go back before we leave!

Such a great spot in Tamarindo! I had a cappuccino, a cinnamon stick roll, and a tuna sandwich on fresh sourdough — everything was super tasty. The coffee was definitely the best I’ve had around here, tasty, foamed and creamed to perfection. They are known for their bread that they bake on the spot every morning. Go early so they won’t sell out. The staff were super friendly, and the owners, Anat and Oren, are so nice. You can tell they really care about what they do. Definitely coming back for more, and highly recommended.

Great place! The atmosphere and decor is so welcoming and chill. They're also dog friendly! Great food! We literally came here almost every morning we were in town. Fresh ingredients and plenty of options! Great staff! They were all so welcoming & gave us a great suggestions on where to hit up the beach! We loved it!

Loved everything about this cafe! The food was delicious (have to get the Baja Bowl… that cilantro dressing omg…!), and the energy of the place was just so good—bright, welcoming, and full of friendly faces. You can tell people love being here, both staff and customers. A total feel-good spot. We ate here majority of our visit, breakfast and lunch, SO GOOD!

Cha Cafe is such a cute place! The atmosphere put a smile on my face. It was cozy and comfortable. The menu had a lot of options and I decided to get breakfast. I ordered breakfast burrito which, was one of the best I’ve ever had. The smoothie I ordered was yummy and fresh. I also had a mimosa which was a great way to start the morning. The dogs at the cafe were sweet and came to hangout by my table. Inside the cafe there is a little shop where you can buy teeshirts, sun glasses, hats, and other items. I purchased a hat and I’m obsessed with it. The owner of Cha Cafe was super friendly and gave us a lot of great tips about how to move to Costa Rica. I can’t wait to visit Tamarindo again - I’ll definitely dine at Cha Cafe.

So, here’s the scoop from our Costa Rica trip: my friend’s wife lost her bag with some goodies inside, and we thought it was gone for good. But guess what? They hit up Cha Cafe again—and BAM—they found it! Turns out, they had been waiting to see if our friends came back, and lucky for us, they did. CHA CAFE, you’re the real MVP! After hearing that epic story, we had to go check it out ourselves (first time for us), and man, we’re so glad we did. Met Valeria—she’s super chill and helped us order like pros. The food and coffee? Absolute fire! The vibe at the cafe is so laid-back and cool—perfect spot to kick back. If you’re anywhere near, you gotta swing by. Can’t wait to come back! Peace out until next time!

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would!! First off, the physical space/atmosphere is light, bright, welcoming and inviting. They are dog-friendly, which I’m crazy about, and our group was greeted with a warm welcome. Valeria was our server (and I believe she’s also the pastry chef / part of the ownership), and she was INCREDIBLE with her patience, explanations, menu recommendations… and even gave us suggestions of where to go for other things in Tamarindo. The coffee was out of this world - highly suggest getting the maple latte! The avocado toast was amazing, the plantains spot on, and we got a piece of banana bread to go, which is evidently the most popular baked good! The prices are also very affordable, especially considering everything is homemade and/or organic! This is a must-visit spot in Tamarindo, and we’ll definitely be coming here MANY times during our trip!

What a beautiful hidden gem! So glad we found it, just sad we only found it 4 days into our stay in Tamarindo! Amazing coffee, the service was outstanding, the breakfast bagel was mouthwatering! Owners were so welcoming! We will be back again! Thanks for finally giving us a decent breakfast ❤️

Cha Café is such a gem in Tamarindo. The ambiance is amazing bright, modern, and relaxed, making it a perfect spot to either sit and enjoy a meal or grab something quickly. The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the overall experience. The food is fresh and flavorful making it an ideal place for a casual bite. But what really stands out is the coffee it’s exceptional. You can tell they put care into every cup, and it’s easily some of the best coffee I’ve had. Whether you’re a coffee lover or just looking for a good spot to eat, Cha Café is definitely worth a visIt.

Just your average mid-day cafe. Food didn't blow me away, but wasn't bad. Just something to take the edge off when you're hungry. The smoothies were pretty good. A lot of adorable dogs though!

If you find yourself in Tamarindo, make sure to stop by Tamarindo Coffee Roasters for an exceptional coffee experience. Established in 2017, this charming café is dedicated to serving high-quality Costa Rican coffee sourced directly from sustainable farms. With a diverse selection of flavors like Organic Honey, Pura Vida Blend, and Ocean Level Espresso, there's something for every palate. Although it's slightly off the beaten path, the inviting atmosphere and friendly staff make it worth the trip.
Excellent coffee. I had a black espresso and it was tasty! I bought a couple bags of beans to bring back to Canada. Cute shop and great service.

This is a great coffee shop. Not for the over-hyped marketing like a Starbucks. It is a great coffeehouse because they know how to select and roast coffee beans. They may have made the finest cold brew I've tasted. The coffee itself is a gear shift beyond the wonderful Costa Rican beans. Try it yourself and be amazed. I took a lot of it home for personal use and gifts for family.
Mike B — Google review
Best coffee in Tamarindo. Don't leave without a kilo or two of the Pura Vida blend. I get some ground for immediate use and take beans to grind later. I know that it's going to be a good morning when I wake up and brew a few cups of the best smelling and best tasting coffee available. Even when I am far away, coffee from Tamarindo Coffee Roasters reminds me of how much I love Costa Rica.

Nogui's Restaurant is a popular spot known for its great food and amazing beachfront setting. The menu offers a variety of dishes made with local ingredients, including breakfast croissants, coyote eggs, omelets, avocado toast, fruit sandwich, and lobster scramble. The restaurant also boasts incredible seafood options and happy hour specials on drinks. With its long-standing reputation in Tamarindo, Nogui's has become a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists alike.
This beachside bar/restaurant in Tamarindo is a hidden gem! They have several seating options in shaded areas offering the perfect view of the ocean, it’s a great spot to relax. The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. Enjoying delicious drinks while taking in the stunning scenery makes for an ideal experience! I’m sure the food would be of a good quality as well but I’d only gone for happy hour. Would recommend to others in search of a good bar, especially their frozen cocktails!
William S — Google review
Came here on back to back nights, once for dinner and once for just a little night cap. We decided to sit outside right on the beach, which I think is the go to move as long as the weather is nice enough. For cocktails we started with some happy hour strawberry daquiris, followed up by a caipirinha and Congo guaro. A little on the stronger side the first night but still delicious cocktails. I also tried their tropical old fashioned which was a fruity take on a classic favorite of mine that I would gladly recommend. My girlfriend got the beef tenderloin casada and I got the Arroz con Pollo, both were excellent Costa Rican classic choices that were so flavorful and great sized portions. We got the creamy jalapeño sauce on the side for the casada, but the meat was so flavorful it didn't even need it (but it was an excellent dip for fries!). Lastly for dessert wee got the banana split and the pineapple pie, and I was skeptical at first about the pie, but I am so sold, truly one of my favorite pies I've had and perfect with vanilla ice cream. Our server was the same woman both nights and she remembered us! She was incredibly sweet and took great care of us, and was part of the reason why we decided to come back.

We found Nogui’s early in our Tamarindo trip and instantly fell in love. The location is perfect. Right on the beach, with a great mix of sun and shade to keep you comfortable while you eat. The fish tacos became a regular lunch for us. Delicious. Everything we tried was great, but those tacos stood out as some of the best we’ve had. The service is fantastic. If you’re in Tamarindo, Nogui’s is a must-visit. Great food, great vibes, and an awesome view on the beach.

If there are any vegetarians or vegans in your family or group of friends, definitely order the vegan charcuterie board. Fantastic assortment of flavors with traditional Costa Rican ingredients -- cashew paté, peach palms, green papaya, yuca, corn tortilla and more 😋 Service is always sloooow, so don't go if you're in a hurry. Go when you have plenty of time to relax, turn off your phone and enjoy the gorgeous view 🤩

Tucked away from the main street, Utopia Bar & Restaurant is a hidden gem serving French cuisine in a wooden hut. The open-air bakery offers a spacious and inviting atmosphere to enjoy delectable treats such as chocolate almond croissants and ham and egg croissants. The courtyard is praised for its beauty, providing a peaceful setting to savor the mouthwatering baked goods, breakfast options, and smoothies.
My wife and I stopped here for a quick breakfast and it was very good. I had the continental with a chocolate croissant and my wife had crepes, both were delicious. They also make a great cappuccino!. _____ UPDATE: So good we had to go back. The savoy crepes are the best thing I've had here in Tamarindo and I've had some great food here.

Stopped by for breakfast and picked up Croissants for the family. Coffee, Omelette were delicious. The Croissants were out of this world. My daughter gobbled down the Chocolate Croissant before I could try it. The Chocolate Almond Croissant was the best I ever tasted. Overall a great experience

Best pastries in town. Utopia is open all day with breakfast lunch and dinner. The staff are very friendly. Our favorite stop for croissants and other French-style baked goodies. The big domed dining area lends a tropical character to the experience. No A/C here, but most of the time with the big fans and open-air style it is not missed.

The pastries and crossiants are AMAZING. A real French bakery in CR, what a treat! The chocolate almond crossiants were absolutely excellent and super fresh (made that morning)! So glad I found this place! He has to import certain ingrediants straight from France. What a treat. Merci Beaucoup!

The best bakery in town!! I’ve had Utopia’s croissants and pastries at the local night market many times but we finally stopped in for breakfast before leaving town.. What a treat!! The food was delicious and it was brought to the table just minutes after we ordered.. The waiter was super friendly and we had a lovely conversation with him before we left.. The vibe of the restaurant is very cool, covered from the rain but still open to the outdoors.. If you’re in Tamarindo and looking for a simple meal, a great cup of coffee or an amazing and authentic French pastry, Utopia is a great choice.. Give them a try.. You won’t be disappointed!!

So first off, I am an American but I have lived in France for 5 years for half the year. This place is hands down some of the best French food I have had not only here but even in France. It is really so good. The macaroons are amazing, the pasta is delish, I almost ordered a second plate from pure gluttony. The staff is so sweet and welcoming. The design of the space is really intimate and hip. I just am counting down until 4pm so I can go back today! Thank you guys for giving me a little piece of home in paradise. See you soon!

Nestled in Tamarindo, this cozy café offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for leisurely mornings or afternoons. With a tempting selection of pastries and breads, it’s an ideal place to indulge your sweet tooth while sipping on expertly brewed coffee. Patrons have enjoyed the stunning beach views from the café, making it a picturesque location to unwind.
Got a vanilla iced latte and it was good! Great flavor of coffee. I think the service was decent, nothing to write home about, I only am giving 4/5 for service just cause I think it could’ve been a little more friendly and enthusiastic, but really, no complaints. The coffee was really good.
Corinne L — Google review
My experience was kinda weird. As a person who relays a lot on google reviews I couldn’t find this place but since I’ve walked so many times in front of it I’d to give it a try. The coffee shop is really cozy with this amazing view to the beach. The prices are similar to most places in Tamarindo, so be prepared to pay $4,5 for a cold brew americano. To drink I got a regular cold brew and an almond croissant with chocolate which was really good. The only bad thing about this places is the small variety of it’s menu. Although the size of the place wouldn’t really allow them to offer more options. All the other reviews, which are really old, recommended the banana bread but it seems to me that the shop got renovated or changed owner cuz when I asked for it they had no idea what I was talking about. To sum up, I liked this coffee shop and I do recommend you to give it a go. Everything was good but nothing astonishing for me to rate it a 5 star.
Federico T — Google review
I went to go order a matcha today (I usually go to cha cafe, sol cafe, or nalu) The barista was super rude. she made the matcha and asked me to try it to see if it needed more matcha. I tried it and it tasted like milk with ice, and the color was still white. So, I told her yes please add some. After she added it the color and taste were the same. It was disgusting tasting honestly. I had paid $11!!! ($6-$7 anywhere else in town. After I expressed my concern that I just paid $11 for a matcha that was white and tasted like milk on ice the barista rolled her eyes, was clearly annoyed, and then told me there is nothing she can do because her boss isn't there. Then I asked if she can call or text the boss and she was even more annoyed and told me "well you asked for extra stuff like vegan milk and vanilla." im not quite sure what that had to do with the fact that the drink tasted so gross. I left the drink on the bar and said keep the $11 and walked away, was not going to sit there and argue. I never write reviews but people should know that there is wayyyy better cafes in tamarindo with happy employees and delicious quality drinks.

The best meal we’ve had in Costa Rica so far. We started at the W in Playa Conchal and this place had much better drinks and much better food… night and day difference. Fantastic cocktails and surprisingly good ribeye… given that every cow I saw on my drive in Costa Rica looked like it was starved.

Our recent visit to Bistro Langosta was a delightful and memorable experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by Steven, the friendly and hospitable host, who set the tone for the warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. The vibe was relaxed and the ambiance made us feel right at home. We started off with the tuna tower, which was a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. The fresh and bold flavors left us impressed, and the presentation of the dish was stunning. Our main course, the shrimp milk coconut curry, was equally delicious, with perfectly cooked shrimp and a balance of spices that blended beautifully with the creamy sauce. The service at Bistro Langosta was excellent, with the staff being knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to accommodate our needs. Steven, our host, was attentive and made sure our glasses were always filled and that we were enjoying our meal. The manager Gabriel also stopped by to ask how everything was, showcasing their commitment to customer satisfaction. Overall, our dining experience at Bistro Langosta was fabulous. The combination of delicious food, a great margarita, and exceptional service made for a memorable evening. Topped off by excellent live music. And a welcome from the charming owner who clearly treats his staff like family. What more could you ask for. We would highly recommend BL to anyone looking for a classy and delicious dining experience away from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo. PART 2… And it was so good we had to come again. Greeted so warmly by all. This time tried the steak preceded by a salad with pear and goats cheese that was described as “the best pear and cheese salad I ever had’ by my other half. Fantastic live music to boot. So talented were they at corralling the crowd that at one point we found ourselves salsaing. However nothing could match the skills of manager Gabriel who proved to eclipse us all on the dance floor. Awesome experience. Thanks again Bistro Langosta.

Recommended to try from a local. We went for a coffee and breakfast. Unfortunately they were only serving the pastries when we first arrived. I tried a chocolate croissant with a coffee. It was a soft style chocolate and very soft croissant. It was unique and delicious. The coffee was Italian style and GREAT. When breakfast started to get served it did look and smell very good. I hope to return for a PIZZA!! Owner was very engaging and nice to speak with!! The outdoor seating area is a great place to chill and relax with your coffee or meal.

Masa Madre was honestly my favorite place in Tamarindo. First of all, the owner and every person who works there, are fantastic. It felt like I was eating at a friend’s house. The food and coffee are delicious. The croissants, fresh bread, and all the baked goods were perfect. I also had avocado toast with eggs for breakfast one day, a big, fresh salad with chicken for lunch another day, and multiple pieces of pizza for dinner during the Tamarindo night market. All soooo good. The owner is from Italy and everything tastes authentically Italian. I especially loved the pesto. I also saw that they offer private chef services. That would be a treat! Don’t miss this beautiful place, off the beaten path, with wonderful people. Thanks for taking care of me, Masa Madre.

Visiting Tamarindo, we were in search of bread for a meal we were cooking at home. Went to Masa Madre - they baked the bread and had it ready for us the next day. The biggest standout, they suggested they would be willing to meet us after hours to meet our day's time constraints. When we got there, they offered an additional loaf on them. Great break, and great service!

Masa Madre is exquisite. A small place just off the main road of Tamarindo, it boasts a gorgeous patio populated with greenery and I ate some of the best pesto I've ever had. The pizza is divine, the service excellent, and the craft beer from Brothers of Ale is fantastico. Can't wait to visit again!

We asked the guys at Pimiento Verde where we could find a great loaf of bread and they sent us here.. I am so glad we found this place!! Honestly I’ve had some of the best bread I’ve ever had at Masa Madre.. The owner and his bakers are super knowledgeable and I enjoy the conversations I have in this shop every time I go.. You have to place your order a few days in advance because their bread is made fresh for you.. Just choose the bread you want (my favorite is rosemary & oregano sourdough) and get your name on their calendar.. I always grab a few croissants or whatever pastries they have left when I pick up my order.. I haven’t tried their quiche yet but they look delicious.. They don’t have any gluten free options here, so just be aware of that.. They also carry some serious local coffee beans and serve espressos while you hang out.. Seriously I can’t recommend this place more..

They provided a refreshing air conditioned setting, and if you want to cool off with a refreshing drink try a mango smoothie or caramel frappe! Free WiFi is also a perk of this great café. There’s a second location in Brazilito which proved to be just as good as Tamarindo.

This spot in Tamarindo is a real find. They serve up homemade dishes that are just delicious, and it's all run by a family. The best part? It won't break the bank like some other places around here. Plus, their coffee is top-notch! You've gotta try their breakfast burrito—it's huge! And their chicken sandwich? Oh man, it's so tasty! Every bite and sip here is like a little adventure in food. Trust me, you won't be disappointed when you find this place. It's not just a meal; it's a whole experience of good eats and friendly vibes.

I got the Tico Panini and a Banana/Mango smoothie. I've tried a lot of food in CR and this is honestly a top 5 spot for me now. The panini was so good with a perfectly balanced flavor. I know good food being Cajun and from the southern US-- so I write this review with confidence and still half my panini to go! Pura Vida!

Great little coffee shop in Tamarindo. I went there three of the six days of my visit and I am fully hopped up on cafe frio. The cinnamon roll is AMAZING (but go early because they’ll sell out—don’t say I didn’t warn you). Staff is great and service is wonderful—cozy place to sit and enjoy your food or coffee!

This is an excellent little Cafe in Tamarindo. They have a big menu with many options for hot and cold drinks, caffeine or non-caffeinated beverages, smoothies and food. On the first day in Tamarindo I tried their lemonade blended with basil and it was so refreshing and delicious. It was the perfect drink for a very hot day. The next morning my husband and I tried another trendier looking cafe down the street called Nordic or something like that and the coffee was TERRIBLE. Having learned our lesson we came back to this charming cafe and we got two delicious hot lattes and a banana chocolate muffin to enjoy in our hotel room just ahead of an afternoon storm. My husbands latte was delicious and I got myself a tea (which is my preference over coffee). As a tea drinker, I am a snob, and this place only carries Lipton for black tea. I consider Lipton to be my last choice tea, but somehow this little cafe made me eat my words. They made me a tea latte with a Lipton tea bag and steamed milk and dammit if it wasn’t the best tea latte I’ve had in awhile. I was so grateful to them for giving me a nice cup of tea on a vacation to a country known for coffee. This cafe also has friendly service, a menu translated in both English and Spanish, air conditioning, free water, they accept credit cards, they have plenty of tables. Lastly, the baked goods are so wonderful. If you have an early day and want to grab a little quick breakfast or you are feeling snacky this is the perfect place.

Favorite place to grab espressos in town. Also, the Tico panini is one of my favorite quick meals in town. Staff is also very helpful and friendly. Must check it out when you’re in Tamarindo! Ready..? Go!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Tamarindo, Pan Del Mundo - Artisanal Bakery is a true treasure for anyone who appreciates the art of baking. Owned by the talented French artisan Evelyn, this bakery is renowned for its exceptional French baguettes and delightful croissants that are perfectly flaky. The selection here goes beyond just bread; their chocolate bread and chicken curry sandwiches are also crowd favorites. Each item reflects a commitment to quality and craftsmanship, making every bite a memorable experience.
We enjoyed delicious dark chocolate pastries several times. We went back probably three times. They look like they had other sandwiches that might be good but we did not try any.

If you’re seeking an authentic artisanal bakery experience in the heart of Tamarindo, look no further than Pan Del Mundo. During our collaboration with them for video and photography, we had the opportunity to visit both the bakery and the laboratory. It was a deep dive into their exceptional craft, where a passion for quality baking meets a diverse global influence. From the moment you step into the bakery, the delightful aroma of freshly baked breads fills the air, inviting you to explore their offerings. The team is professional, warm, and pays meticulous attention to every detail. Their selection of breads is nothing short of impressive, offering a wide range of international flavors and techniques. From French baguettes and croissants to Mediterranean-style loaves, Latin-inspired breads, and beyond, Pan Del Mundo beautifully blends baking traditions from around the world. The laboratory is a true hub of creativity, where each ingredient is carefully selected and every product is made with precision and passion. Whether it’s the dough, the baking process, or the presentation, each product reflects their commitment to quality. Every bite offers a unique experience, showcasing both their craftsmanship and global influence. Pan Del Mundo is the perfect blend of French baking excellence and international bread-making traditions, all infused with the freshness and vibrancy of Costa Rica. If you’re in Tamarindo, it’s an absolute must-visit for anyone eager to taste high-quality, diverse baked goods crafted with professionalism and love. We are proud to have worked with this extraordinary bakery and highly recommend Pan Del Mundo to all food lovers looking for something truly special.

Cute Italian style eatery. The BEST Italian coffee in Tamarindo. The fresh bread is amazing as is the pastries and sandwiches. I almost don’t want to tell you about the Chocolate Almond Croissant because when they sell out for the day ITS OVER. The baked goods are so delicious people will call and reserve when they are on the way to make sure they don’t miss out!!! They have a little parking lot right out front that is free so parking is convenient. Make sure to check out the Instagram for more photos.

This bakery is an absolute gem! The selection of freshly baked breads, croissants, and baguettes is outstanding. Everything is made with such care and quality – you can really taste the difference! The croissants are perfectly flaky, and the bread is always fresh and delicious. Whether you’re grabbing a quick snack or picking up a loaf for the day, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves authentic, freshly baked treats!

A great little bakery that started to accept credit card now. The focaccia was good and were it’s croissants. The parking lot in general is pretty open, except for today when the farmers market was in session so there were a lot of non-plaza customers parking illegally in the lot. I had a real difficult time backing out of the lot after picking up our breads. It closes on Sundays and Mondays.

Fantastic Italian bakery. The focaccia was amazing—perfectly baked with a great texture and flavor. The cappuccino was excellent as well, rich and smooth. On top of that, the lady working there was wonderful—super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Incredible almond croissant. I keep thinking about it. We also tried the banana bread and carrot bread. The ambiance is wonderful especially if you keep walking to the back.
