Juice shop
Nestled in a narrow lane leading to the ancient Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi, Blue Lassi Shop is a popular spot for locals and international tourists alike. The shop's unique appearance with blue walls adorned by thousands of photographs and handwritten notes adds to its charm. For over three generations, this establishment has been serving up around 80 varieties of thick, creamy, flavored lassis in traditional earthen pots topped with fresh malai and rabdi.
If you're a Lassi lover like me, you owe it to yourself to try this blue lassi shop. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! I highly recommend this Lassi shop to anyone looking for a refreshing and delicious drink. The ambiance is unique and cozy, the staff is friendly, and the Lassi is top-notch. Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or tangy, this shop has got you covered. The Lassi is made with high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the freshness and authenticity in every sip. The flavors are well-balanced, and the sweetness level is just right.

No tourist can miss this spot! Easy to reach from gate 4. Just ask anyone about this place. Do try the dry fruits lassi. Remember to go with an empty stomach, as the lassi is combined with thick Rabri and dry fruits on top. The place is full of stories, go sit and talk to the owner, lovely old man. Take a photograph of you (passport size) to stick it on the wall.

Blue Lassi in Varanasi is a small but famous shop hidden in the narrow lanes near Manikarnika Ghat. It’s known for its rich, creamy lassi served in traditional clay cups, topped with fresh fruits, nuts, and thick malai. The place has an old rustic charm with walls full of photos and notes left by travelers from around the world. It’s a favorite stop for tourists exploring the gallis and ghats of Kashi. The lassi is delicious and refreshing, especially after walking in the heat, though the shop is small and often crowded. Still, the taste and atmosphere make it one of the must-visit spots in Varanasi.
Sagar S — Google review
Honestly one of the best lassi I’ve ever tried. Recommended are the mixed nut lassi (with saffron, nuts etc) and the mixed fruit lassi. Both probably not suitable for those with nut allergies given the kitchen setup. Either way, it’s super fresh, super tasty, and reasonably priced (120 for most expensive lassi). Staff are nice too - told us it’s been there for almost 100 years and is family run! Also decorated with a load of passports photos which you can add to yourself.
Matt — Google review
It’s hyped by food bloggers, nothing great about their lassi. Tried their mixed fruit lassi and it tastes like fruit salad mixed with curd. Tried their rabri lassi and it was some dried and thick milk, doesn’t taste great. Rs. 120 a glass is not worth, you will get much better lassi at nearby places and price is also better around 70 a glass, altogether it’s a hyped or paid promotion by food bloggers.
Jitendra K — Google review
Over hyped place for Lassi. No such vibe is there for which you would go. Stuffs are good & friendly. We tried mixed fruits, Mixed dry fruits & plane Lassi. Taste is OK. I would recommend plane Lassi "Malai marke". Situated in typical varanasi Gali towards Manikarnika Ghat. Follow Google map or asked anyone. Open in 10 AM. Don't go for early morning. Recommended but Most Recommended one.
Anirban B — Google review
The blue lassi shop is in the street of kachauri gali , on the way to manikarnika ghat. The shop is located very close to Manikarnika Ghat, but do keep in mind that space is extremely limited — there’s barely enough room to stand properly, Though seating facilities are there , which is very limited. As I heard they offer many varieties of lassi but currently they are offering only two kinds. So one things for sure they don't offer varieties of lassi all the time. On the wall of lassi shop pics of many tourist are pasted. What the surprising part is that they don't show the menu. It was mention Rs 40 for lassi. They charge Rs 50. It's their starting range. Very frankly in Varanasi one can find better lassi then this in same price. This place is overhyped. Neither ambience is good nor there service. In fact there is no parking place. My final recommendation there are better option are available in varanasi.
Manish U — Google review
One of the best lassis I’ve had so far very delicious and served quickly. A must-try Mix fruit lassi! 🥤 All the walls are painted blue, giving the place a very authentic and vintage feel. Loved the unique concept of the passport-size photo collection really adds to the charm! 💙

Deena Chaat Bhandar, located in Varanasi, is a must-visit for anyone who loves chaat. This place is renowned for offering some of the best chaats in the city and is known for serving its customers with the same quality and fare as VIPs or Bollywood celebrities. With over 200 years of history, it's famous for its Aloo Chaat and Chuda Matar.
Super food, one of the best in town... The Aloo Tikki Chaat was simply amazing! The tikkis were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor, not greasy at all. The chutneys were a delightful combination of sweet and tangy, and the toppings were fresh and plentiful. I especially loved the balance of flavors in each bite – a perfect mix of spicy, sweet, and savory. Definitely a must-try for any chaat lover!" Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food,"
Aakash A — Google review
Good vibes, fun times to enjoy some good chat here. Tried Palak patta chat, Tamatar chaat, Tikki Chole, Kulfi Falooda, Gulab Jamun - everything was great ! Not as crowded when we went and found a seat quickly. Service is quick. Atmosphere is one that you should enjoy eating with the crowd and the honking of vehicles. Good spot for some family and friends time.
Ajay A — Google review
I recently ordered a few items from Zomato, which claimed to be prepared using desi ghee. While it’s possible that desi ghee was used, the quality of the ghee was not up to the mark. I can say this with confidence because the difference in ghee quality becomes very noticeable once the food cools down. The overall taste of the dishes was quite basic and lacked any distinct flavor or richness; honestly, you can find a similar taste at many local eateries and even street vendors in Varanasi. Another point I noticed was the excessive use of sweet chutney in every dish. While the chutney itself was fine, its generous application tended to overpower the main flavors of the food. It would be better if the chutney was provided in separate small packets, allowing customers to use it according to their personal taste. In terms of presentation, the food was delivered properly, and the packaging was acceptable, but the culinary experience didn’t meet expectations. Overall, considering taste, quality, and presentation, I would give the food an average rating of 5 out of 10. I hope the restaurant can improve the ghee quality and adjust the seasoning to make the dishes more balanced and flavorful.

📍 Location & Hours Address: D-47/184, Near PDR Mall, Luxa Road, Godaulia (Rama Pura) area, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh 221001 (or 221010) Opening time: from 2:00 pm onward in the afternoon. Closing time: around 10:00 pm (approx) according to some sources. 🍽 What to Try They are famous for their tamatar chaat, a speciality of Varanasi and this shop in particular. Other popular items: golgappe (puchka), palak-patta chaat, tikki-dahi, choora-matar. Example pricing: tamatar chaat around ₹60, golgappa pani (12 pieces) around ₹60, etc. ✅ Why It’s Good Long-standing establishment: started by Deena Nath Kesari selling chaat on a mobile stall decades ago. Highly recommended by locals and visitors. For example, users say: > “Love Deena, the tamatar chat is life” Vegetarian-friendly, with indoor seating and take-away options. ⚠️ Things to Note / Tips It can get very crowded, especially in the evening, being a popular spot. Arriving a bit early may help avoid waiting. Parking near Luxa Road / Godaulia may be tricky given narrow lanes and busy traffic. While the main attraction is the chaat, some reviewers feel other menu items (e.g., dahi samosa, tikki chole) may not always meet expectations. 👍 My Suggestion If you’re in Varanasi and want an authentic local chaat experience, Deena Chat Bhandar is a strong choice. Best time to go: After 4 pm when they open; try going early evening to beat the worst of the queue. Must-order: Tamatar chaat + Palakpatta to get a nice mix of unique local flavour and classic street food.

We have been in Banaras for first time, so wanted to try all the famous chat places. First we have tried Kashi Chat Bhandar. It's nearby to that place. Little disappointed than the reviews about chat and taste than Kashi chat bhandar. Also Little Unhygenic in terms of insects flying in humid season. Tried below items : 1. Kulfi Falooda : Best item in taste and freshness. Very nice kulfi Falooda to eat. 5/5 2. Palak Patta Chat : It was good but the one in Kashi chat bhandar was better. May be because of making in bulk is the reason. 3. Bhalla papdi : Disappointed. It was ok. Have tried way better Dahi bhalla papadi chat at many places ( Pune, Delhi and Other places in UP). Price : 4/5 Taste : 3/5 Recommended to try different items. Thanks.
Arun — Google review
I liked the Tamatar ki chaat here better than the kashi chat bhandar. Paani puri is also nice especially the water of Panipuri. Quick service, seating area for 15-20 people, staff on their toes.
Aditi G — Google review
The best chat bhandaar in Varanasi. You might see 500 more people at Kashi Chat Bhandar but this is the real deal where locals come to eat. Pro-tip: At any chat place in Varanasi take the base item i.e. tikki, samosa etc. and the chutneys etc. separately. Else, you can't really taste the real thing..
Mohit S — Google review
A good old typical snack joint which is well-maintained. I tried their Tomato Chaat, which was delicious, but didn’t enjoy the Paani Puri as much. The Puris had become somewhat soggy and lacked flavour.

Kashi Chat Bhandar is a renowned food joint in Varanasi, known for its delectable chaats and savory snacks. The 60-year-old establishment offers over a dozen varieties of chaat, including palak patta chaat, aloo tikki, golgappe, dahi ke batashey, and dahi badey. However, the standout dish is the signature tamatar ki chaat cooked in ghee for hours with boiled potatoes and special gravy.
From the crispy aloo tikki to the tangy dahi bhalla and the spicy, sweet, and sour explosion of their mixed chaat, every single item is crafted with an almost artistic precision. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients, the perfect balance of spices, and the generations of expertise that have gone into perfecting these iconic dishes. Their most famous and must have chaat is tamater chaat. A Must-Visit Spot for Street Food Lovers! Kashi Chat Bhandar truly lives up to its reputation as one of the best places for chaat in Varanasi. The flavors are absolutely amazing – tangy, spicy, and perfectly balanced. I tried their Tamatar Chaat and Palak Patta Chaat – both were bursting with authentic taste and freshness. The place is usually crowded, which is a sign of its popularity, but the service is quick and well-managed. The staff is polite and helpful even during rush hours. Hygiene is well-maintained compared to many street food joints.

Kashi Chat Bhandar is a famous and long-standing street food shop in Varanasi, known for its authentic and delicious chaats. It is located in the bustling Godowlia area, a short walk from both Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Dashashwamedh Ghat. Famous Dishes: Tamatar ki Chaat: Often cited as the shop's signature and most famous dish. The chaat is renowned for its unique and authentic flavors of Banaras. Aloo Tikki Chaat: A highly-rated potato patty chaat. Palak Patta Chaat: A crispy and flavorful chaat made with spinach leaves. Other offerings: The menu includes other varieties like mixed chaat, dahi badey, and sweet options such as kulfi falooda and gulab jamun. Dining Information: Seating: The shop is a small, straightforward street shop with limited seating, so many people stand while eating. Payment: Kashi Chat Bhandar is known to be a cash-only establishment. Atmosphere: Despite the crowds, the lively and simple atmosphere is part of the overall experience.

First day in Varanasi and first thing we did is eating chat in the evening at Kashi Chat Bhandar. It is located near Godoliya chowk, you need to walk on foot in this area. Its very crowded area. Let's come to chat : We have tried 1. Tamato Chat : It's first time we had this taste and it was delicious. Different flavour of mashed potato, tomato, masala..sweet, sour taste. Crispy chips of potato and simple tadka on top of it. 2. Alloo Tikki Chat : Normal taste, I have tried more tasty tikki chat in North(Delhi and other places in UP). 3. Palak Patta Chat : It's very tasty chat. It's very flavourful. Crispy palak pakoda and then magic of tasty chutneys. Rs 60-80 per plate chat. Taste : 4.5/5 Price : 4/5 Highly Recommended. Thanks.

This restaurant wasn’t what I expected initially. Huge crowds outside and a flurry of people. Yet we found a table immediately (as lots of people takeaway). Table was wiped down quickly, simple chat menu on the wall. Really tasty small bowls of chat (most for around 60rupees). Tamatar was a little spicy but amazing! Pani puri was so good too, as was the gulab jamun. If you want quick, good and cheap food - go here!
Matt — Google review
One of the renowned place for chat in Varanasi. Place is always jam-packed in the evening. They have both sitting & take way facility. Price is OK. There is no parking facility. They only take cash. We tried Tomato chat & pani puri. Both were good in taste. Quantity is OK.

Kashi Chaat Bhandar is one of the most famous shops in Banaras, you will know this by looking at the crowd here. There is no doubt that their Aloo Tikki Chat is very famous but you can get the same taste or even better taste in many other shops in Banaras, their Rabri Faluda was good, you should taste it. I guess Overhyped Bana rakha h yaha h

Kashi Chat Bhandar Here’s a detailed overview of Kashi Chat Bhandar, a famed street-food spot in Varanasi — useful if you’re planning a visit. 📍 Location & Basics Address: D-37/49, Badadev, Godowlia (or Godowlia Road), near Girja Ghar Chauraha, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, 221001. Area: Godowlia cross-roads, a bustling part of Varanasi’s old city, close to major ghats and temple areas. Opening hours: Approx from about 4:00 PM to around 10:30 PM (some sources mention from 11 AM) — though crowd builds up more in the afternoon/evening. Nature: Primarily street-food style; many items to eat while standing, some limited seating upstairs. 🍴 What to Try – Specialty Dishes Tamatar Chaat: A signature item here, made with mashed tomatoes, spices, toppings — something local to Varanasi and this shop is noted for it. Aloo Tikki / Aloo Chaat: Totable for its crisp texture + chutneys. Papdi Chaat, Dahi Puri, Golgappa (Pani Puri): Popular street-chaat forms here. Chura Matar, Palak Patta Chaat: More items if you want to explore beyond the usual. 👍 Why It's Worth a Visit It’s one of the older well-known chaat shops in Varanasi, giving it local authenticity and street-food character. Location is convenient if you’re exploring the old city and near famous spots, so it fits well into a food-walk or sightseeing day. Vegetarian friendly, affordable, and gives a flavour of “real Banaras street food”. ⚠️ Tips & Things to Note Crowded: Expect a crowd, especially in the evenings. Waiting time and bustle are normal. Some folks online say the hype is big. > “Kashi chat bhandar is literally overrated …” Standing space: Seating is limited, mostly standing or informal arrangements. If you want more comfort, try to arrive a bit earlier. Hygiene: Standard for busy street-food in Indian old city lanes — pick your time and be comfortable with street-food conditions. Time your visit: As you might be doing sightseeing (e.g., near Kashi Vishwanath Temple) it might be good to visit mid-afternoon or early evening before peak rush. Try their unique items: Don’t just go with familiar chaat: the tamatar chaat is the standout here. Payment & menus: Many items are very affordable. The menu is mostly chaat & related savoury snacks.

Pros: - Chats are simply mind-blowing. Best ever. My personal favourite destination in India for Chats - Tamatar Chat, Palak Chat & Kulfi, a must have - Decently clean dining area - Staff is courteous - Food served is fast, fresh and low on masala - Decent pricing Cons: - Parking is an issue for 4Wheelers - Very popular joint so getting seats isn't easy - Dining area/space is small

Lovely place to sample some Baati Chokha, along with well prepared side dishes. Very quick service, even though the menu is limited. Especially, the ambience alone is worth visiting the place for. The way they have restored / preserved artifacts from a typical rural setup is awesome. They also have a very good handicraft store in the ground floor. Definitely recommended.

Baati Chokha Restaurant in Varanasi is a popular place to experience authentic Bhojpuri and Banarasi cuisine in a traditional village-style setting. The star dishes are litti-chokha, baati with ghee, chokha of brinjal or potato, along with curd, chutneys, and desi sweets. The ambience is rustic with mud walls, charpoys, lanterns, and folk art, giving visitors a taste of rural Uttar Pradesh. Food is served on leaf plates, enhancing the earthy feel. It’s loved for its homely flavors, reasonable pricing, and cultural vibe, making it a must-try for anyone exploring local food in Varanasi. I love the interior and style of serving. That is the immediate attention from the entrance to the dinning hall, was the wooden and bamboo interiors. Crowded and busy - - people taking selfie, family photos, some resting on khatiya and mostly dinning with confidence. Even we enjoyed the blend of village style serving with modern food flavours. For a family of 6 (actually 9), we had such a wonderful experience that we don't want to miss to recommend our friends and relatives. Yummy and delicious food, clean and tidy, but crowdy family restaurant in Vanarasi.

If you’re craving real, unadulterated local flavors in Varanasi, Baati Chokha is a must-visit. What sets it apart is the food from scratch — no processed shortcuts, just pure authenticity in every bite. The baatis have that rustic, smoky charm, the chokha bursts with fresh flavours, and each dish feels lovingly crafted. Hospitality is warm and genuine — we were personally attended by Rohit Gupta, who made us feel right at home (see his photo below 👌). In a city of many flavors, this place stands out as a true gem. 5/5 — absolutely worth the visit.

Baati Chokha: The Authentic Taste of Varanasi Baati Chokha is a traditional and highly popular meal from the Purvanchal region, with Varanasi being one of the best places to experience its authentic preparation. It's considered a must-try for anyone visiting the city, known for its healthy, hearty, and smoky flavors. What is Baati Chokha? The dish consists of two main components: 1. Baati: These are small, round dough balls made from whole wheat flour. • Filling: They are typically stuffed with Sattu (roasted gram flour), which is spiced with ingredients like green chilies, onions, coriander, and ginger, and mixed with mustard oil and pickle masala. Some variations include Plain Baati or Paneer Baati. • Cooking Method: The unique flavor comes from traditionally slow-cooking the baatis. They are often roasted directly over a charcoal fire or cow-dung cakes, which gives them a distinct, smoky, and charred aroma. After roasting, they are typically crushed and generously dipped in pure Desi Ghee (clarified butter). 2. Chokha: This is a spicy mash served as the accompaniment. • Ingredients: The mash is usually a mix of roasted and mashed potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant (brinjal). • Flavoring: It's seasoned with salt, mustard oil (which imparts a pungent flavor), finely chopped green chilies, garlic, and coriander leaves. The complete meal is generally served with a side of dal (lentil soup), green chutney, and sometimes curd and pickle. The Famous "Baati Chokha Restaurant" There is a popular chain of restaurants in Varanasi that specializes in this cuisine and has become a landmark for visitors seeking the traditional taste. The ambiance often reflects a rustic, village theme to enhance the authentic dining experience.

It has two sections — one for à la carte and another for thali. We went to the thali section and tried the Baati Thali. They served two types of Baati — one stuffed with sattu and another with paneer. Both were quite heavy yet absolutely delicious. The chokha, cooked in mustard oil, had a perfect smoky flavor, and the kheer served afterward completed the meal beautifully. A must-try place for authentic local flavors in Varanasi.

Felt like a wonderful introduction to Kashi as this was the place we directly went from the airport, after landing. The staff were really friendly and polite and answered our questions regarding food and their culture. They even showed us how to eat each dish, and left us with very clear directions to the places we wanted to explore, and the things we needed to avoid. The Manager deserves special praise.

Prasiddha Chachi Ki Kachori is one of those timeless Banarasi gems where food is served with both flavor and love. Started in 1915, this humble spot has been feeding generations, and the warmth of the owners is as memorable as the food itself. What immediately stands out is the creativity in its setting. Old oil tins are cleverly repurposed into seats and tables, neatly covered with mats. It adds a rustic charm and makes the experience feel uniquely local. We had kachori with aloo sabzi and hot jalebis, all of which were excellent. The kachoris were crisp and hearty, the sabzi full of flavor, and the jalebis fresh and perfectly sweet. Everything is reasonably priced, making it as accessible as it is delicious. Located just near the famous Pahalwan Lassi, this place is a must try if you want a taste of Banaras beyond the tourist trail. It is not just about eating, it is about being part of a tradition that has carried on for more than a century.
Banashree B — Google review
They are well-known for their kachori sabji with jalebi. The quantity is good. The kachoris are too tasty, crispy endings and the sabji is made of pumpkin and aloo with hing ka tadka. You will get jalebis as well-you need not ask for jelebis seperately-you are automatically served the plate. The kachori sabji and jalebi are freshly served-all are garam garam. Superb experience. Have it with kulhad chai-it will taste heavenly. Outdoor seating is their main highlight.
Ramya I — Google review
Prasiddh Chachi Ki Dukan in Varanasi is a name often hyped by food bloggers and influencers, but sadly, it doesn’t live up to expectations. The jalebi is a must-try, crispy and sweet, but beyond that, the experience is underwhelming. The puri-sabji is just okay and definitely overpriced for its quality. The place lacks hygiene and basic seating—visitors are made to sit on makeshift setups using empty oil containers. If you’re concerned about cleanliness, it’s best to skip it. Traditional Varanasi food seems to be losing its charm, replaced by commercialization and inflated prices. Even popular spots like Fine dining serve only average foods now. This place reflects the broader disappointment one might face in Varanasi’s once-celebrated street food scene. A visit here might leave you more frustrated than fulfilled. Varanasi deserves better, and so do its visitors. Not recommended for those seeking quality, hygiene, or authenticity.

Prasiddh chachi ki dukan is at lanka. Its new location is the same, it just shifted opposite to its previous location. Kachauri sabji and jalebi available in the morning shift. Samosa, loung Lata, boondi, bread pakoda, cutlet available in the evening. Rates are as follows Kachaudi 4pcs Rs 60 Jalebi Rs 200 per kg Other snacks are rs 15 Samosa is Rs 10 Here no sitting facilities, in morning they Make limited temporary arrangement. Taste is average , one can get such taste many places in Varanasi. This place is overhyped. Hygeine is comprised here. Parking is always a problem here.

The famous Chachi ki kachori shop shifted to new location very next to old location. The owner is very humble and ready to provide good service to customers. You have to seat outside on bench to eat. The seating arrangement is available till 10 am till neighbour shops are closed. The hot kachori and subji are very good and testy. You can a avoid Jaldbi.

The kachori here is delicious, especially with the great hing flavor. However, I wasn't a fan of the jalebi. For better jalebi, I recommend going to Pahalwan Lassi shop, which is directly across from this place.

Chowk is a popular dining spot in Varanasi that offers both à la carte and buffet options. The friendly staff are accommodating and the food is not only delicious but also beautifully presented. While prices are on the higher side, they are reasonable. One of the highlights is their all-day breakfast menu featuring items like tea, coffee, pancakes, and French toast. The indoor seating area provides a pleasant ambiance for enjoying your meal.
The place has both ala carte and buffet. Nice people and they will accommodate your requests. The food is tasty and nicely presented. The prices are high but not very high. They serve all day breakfast as well, which I found v good such as tea, coffee, pan cakes, French toast, etc. I will recommend a buffet here more than anywhere else in Varanasi. There are some seats outdoors but I think food isn't served there. The inside seating arrangement is nice. Try local Varanasi dishes here both veg and non veg here.

Brown Bread Bakery Varanasi is a popular organic cafe with a Ganges-view roof garden and a cheese counter. It offers eco-friendly fare and a mouthwatering selection of breads, rolls, pastries, pizzas, and Tibetan dishes. Located conveniently on Dashaswamedh Ghat, it provides the perfect setting for fine dining since 1984.
I came here almost every day during my time in Varanasi – and after a while, it truly started to feel like home. The food is absolutely delicious. The rooftop has such a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere – a perfect place to rest, read, or simply enjoy life above the city’s chaos. Everything is very clean, and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. You can really feel the care they put into the place. I’ll definitely come back – this spot holds a special place in my heart. Thank you, Brown Bread Bakery, for being my little sanctuary in Varanasi!

Food was really nice but the first time I went the service was painfully slow. Second time it was very quick so maybe they were having an off day. The chili Gouda sandwich was so nice. Also the crepes are unreal - I had the lemon sugar and it was so good.

This is not just a place to have breakfast — it’s a project with real meaning and purpose. Everything here is part of a collective effort to support, to collaborate, and to help build a better world. That makes any experience here different from your average restaurant. That said, the food is great, the service is excellent, and the care they put into everything is truly heartwarming. A solid 10 — projects like this are the ones that help us all move forward as human beings.
Laia G — Google review
Brown Bread Bakery in Varanasi is not just a cafe; it's an experience that begins long before you step inside. This review is for those who are prepared for the pilgrimage to find this hidden gem, as it is a place of stark contrasts—the challenging, grimy exterior gives way to a charming, welcoming interior. The Journey In: A Test of Resolve Be forewarned: reaching Brown Bread Bakery is an adventure in itself, and a navigation app can only get you so far. Tucked away in the dense, narrow, and often confusing lanes of the Bangali Tola area, it is completely inaccessible to any kind of vehicle. My cab driver dropped me off a good 500 meters away without any prior warning, leaving me to navigate the labyrinthine alleyways on my own. The streets leading to the bakery are a significant deterrent—unhygienic, cluttered, and with a distinct feeling of being unsafe, especially for first-time visitors. The initial impression of the cafe itself, a small and unassuming entrance, does little to inspire confidence. The First Impression: A Hidden Oasis However, the moment you pass through the doorway, the entire narrative shifts. The atmosphere inside is a complete and utter transformation from the streets outside. The ground-floor cafe is cozy and modest, but the real star is the rooftop restaurant. Climbing the stairs, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the holy Ganga, a perfect backdrop for a meal or a moment of reflection. The ambiance here is serene and inviting, a true oasis from the city's chaotic energy. Adding to the charm is the knowledge that this establishment is part of a social enterprise, supporting vocational training for local underprivileged individuals—a wonderful cause that makes every purchase feel more meaningful. The Culinary Experience: Hits and Misses My food experience at Brown Bread Bakery was a mixed bag, with some items being absolutely stellar and others falling short of expectations. The Best of the Best: The coffee is nothing short of amazing. Rich, aromatic, and expertly brewed, it was the perfect remedy after the arduous journey. This is a must-have for any visitor. The garlic bread was another standout. It was perfectly toasted, generously slathered with flavorful garlic, and had a satisfying crispiness that made it a sheer delight. The Breads and Sandwiches: This is where the bakery's performance was a bit disappointing, especially considering its name. While the sandwich itself was "okay," the bread used was noticeably stale. Similarly, the specially-made breads, which one would expect to be their signature, were a little chewy and lacked the freshness and soft texture that fresh bread should have. This was a clear miss and something that could be easily improved. Service and Staff: A Resounding Success Despite the mixed food quality, the one consistent positive throughout my visit was the staff. They were incredibly nice, friendly, and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Their helpful demeanor and genuine warmth made the experience pleasant and welcoming. Their service was prompt, and they were happy to answer any questions, which is a significant plus in an environment that might feel alien to a foreign traveler. Final Verdict Brown Bread Bakery is a place that requires effort to reach, and it’s a place that will challenge your initial perceptions. The journey is difficult, the surroundings are not ideal, and the quality of their namesake breads is inconsistent. However, the reward is a beautiful rooftop view, a truly fantastic cup of coffee, and some of the best garlic bread you'll ever have. Most importantly, you are met with the genuine kindness of a staff that makes you feel at home. It’s a hidden gem, and while it may not be perfect, it is a cafe with heart. If you are prepared to look past the challenges and are looking for a unique, authentic experience with an incredible cup of joe, Brown Bread Bakery is well worth the trek.

Visited this cafe for good vibes and food but had a terrible experience, so dont waste your time. The food was legit inedible for humans maybe animals also. Ordered burgers which had stale bread and were deep fried. The burger tasted like it was expired. Tried pasta which was even worse. No taste no flavour just tomato puree. Lastly tried pancake which had diluted watery nutella and was undercooked looked like aata dough. In short dont visit for food. The rooftop view is still fine crawling with lizards. Even the washroom’s had no working flush or basic hygiene.

It is near Pandey Ghat, close to Dasaswamedh Road. It’s known for its calm atmosphere and rooftop view of the Ganga River. The place is simple but cozy, with a friendly vibe. You can enjoy both Indian and Western food like pasta, sandwiches, burgers, cakes, and fresh bakery items. They also have organic and vegan options. Pros: Tasty bakery items and many choices Peaceful rooftop with nice view Friendly and polite staff Supports local social causes Cons: Service can be slow sometimes Some dishes are average Prices a little high compared to local food Bit noisy due to nearby streets Overall: A lovely spot for breakfast or a relaxing evening. If you like quiet cafés and homemade-style food, Brown Bread Bakery is a great place to visit in Varanasi.

Loved the vibe here with nice background coffee shop music. Sat downstairs but they have a rooftop as well. Baked goods (particularly cinnamon rolls) are great, good coffee, plus their mains are great too! Good spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Plus their profits go to supporting a school for disadvantaged children, which makes everything even better.

Bread of Life Restaurant I recently had the pleasure of eating at the Bread of Life, Varanasi and it was an experience to remember. Fish Curry The fish curry at Bread of Life was a revelation. The flavors were beautifully balanced, with just the right amount of heat and spice. The fish was cooked to perfection, tender and flaky, and the sauce was rich and aromatic. It was clear that a lot of thought and care had gone into creating this dish. I also ordered cookies and apple pie. If you ever find yourself in need of a place to eat, I highly recommend the Bread of Life restaurant. The hospitality, comfort, and especially the food will leave you wanting to come back for more! 🍽️🏨

A friendly little place with a mighty menu. New Bread of Life was recommended by our hotel a few doors down. We thought, “Why not?” since we could almost fall out of our hotel’s lobby into the restaurant, and we were feeling particularly lazy about battling scooters for walking space to anywhere much farther. I wasn’t looking for the best paneer butter masala I’ve ever had, but I found it here. Perhaps this is blasphemous, considering the dish’s Delhi origins. I did have it at one of the places in Delhi that is believed to have invented it; theirs was good, but not as good as this, in my opinion. New Bread of Life’s chef is definitely their secret weapon. His fried rice is excellent. We had the corn soup flavored with ginger—also excellent. We tried the fresh-baked apple pie—excellent. We liked everything enough to return multiple times over the course of our week in Varanasi. The owner and staff really give you the feeling they’re happy to have you as their guest—this is while you’re sitting there eating, for a pittance, some of the best-tasting dishes anyone has possibly ever prepared for you.

The best Cheesecake in India! Happened to just enter this establishment as I was walking towards Assi, as the name Bread of Life reminded me of a wonderful bakery in Manali. I'm glad that I did. It was the best cheesecake that I had in India, the owner was so polite, the ambience was old school. I totally recommend this establishment.

This restaurant was so good that I had to revisit this place multiple times. The food here was amazing, economically priced and the portions were enough to satisfy 1 person. The best part about this restaurant is their staff, very friendly and professional. I really enjoyed talking with them. And the owner was an absolute gem person. After having some chat with the wonderful owner, I got to know that his family lived in Bangladesh (East Pakistan) and moved to India post or pre partition. Quite a fascinating story it was. And regarding the food, I tried their Chinese dishes, chana masala and roti, apple pie and hot chocolate & lemon tea (not available on the menu, but owner customised it personally for me), and their fish fry. All of them were excellent. The food is freshly cooked, so there is a big wait time, so you gotta have patience. And the old wooden chair and table ambience gave me the vibes as if I'm sitting in a Parsi or Irani cafe.

IG: whereiswendy Went to visit this bakery a few times for breakfast and brunch. It’s a cozy old place that looks like it’s an old house converted into a bakery/restaurant. The menu is simple. We ordered a vegetarian dishes, fried rice and tandoori roti. It was really tasty! The food itself was delicious, but the portion was very small for the price point. If you come here starving, you’ll have to order two or maybe three dishes. The bakery part of this shop had very few options, not sure if they bake on a different day of the week, but they only had brownies cupcakes, cookies and the apple pie. I ordered the chocolate cupcake and again, super! They even warm it for you. The owners were really sweet, helpful and cheerful. Always had a big smile on their faces. Very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I would recommend this and would love to visit again.

The Ram Bhandar, located near Thatheri Bazar in Varanasi, is a charming eatery known for its traditional snacks and sweet treats. Despite its unassuming appearance, this compact establishment offers a delightful breakfast experience. The shop's specialty includes Ghugni and Gol Kachori, which are served with black chana-mashed potatoes curry garnished with radish, carrot, and coriander.
Very tasty authentic banrasi kacori and jalebi. Better visit this place between 7:30 am to 9:00am to avoid being get stuck in the rush. Taste is too good price is reasonable.

Just overhyped and overpriced tried the badi kachori sabzi and jalebi. The jalebi was good but the kachori sabzi did not like it. The shop opens from 7:30 to 11 am in the morning when you will get the kachori. The place is overcrowded as it is hyped you have to stand in a queue to take the token number and place your order they have a sitting area but only 4 to 5 people can sit and rest have to find your own space on the street. There is a wash basin and water dispenser. Would not recommend to anyone.

This is the original The Ram bhandar at thatheri bazar, chowk. It's an old shop. Badi Kachauri , choti kachauri, jalebi , gulab jamun etc. are available here. Kachauri sabji and jalebi is most famous here. Kachauri sajbi costing Ra 70 for 2 pieces ,and jalebi Ra 600 per kg. Everything over here is of pure desi ghee. Extra sabji are given on request. In my opinion this place is over rated or over hyped. This place is overcrowded. Other alternatives are available at an economical price. Limited seating arrangement only four to six people. Parking is big issue here. Here tourist are more than local. No glass available for drinking water. Means lots of area of improvement. This place is over rated.

I visited Shri Ram Bhandar and tried their poori sabji (badi kachori). The taste was nice..the sabji was flavorful and well-cooked, and the pooris were thin, light, and not too oily, which made the whole meal feel satisfying without being too heavy... The service was and the staff was polite. One thing to keep in mind that the place is usually crowded, so it took around 10 or more minutes to get my order..But considering the rush, the service was still quite okay and the staff handled it well.. Overall, it was a good experience..definitely worth trying if you’re in this area of Varanasi and looking for a tasty, filling breakfast…

Crazy crowd. Overhyped a bit. At the level of some of the other vendors serving Kachori plate in the area. More than that, Jalebi is what I found good here. Had to wait a good 30 mins for getting one plate. Was it worth it. Probably not when similar serving I would have got to some of the near places that also allowed me to sit in peace and eat. They are good in taste too but it's just the crowd kills the craving.

Well I visited this place after all the good reviews by the Youtubers but to my dismay, the food wasn't good. I didn't like the taste of the Kachodi. Its difficult to hold the food and eat as the place is overcrowded all the time, located in a narrow lane with bikes and cycles passing by. There are few seats inside. I don't understand the hype of this place though but may be its just not suitable for my taste palate.

Om Shree Ram Bhandar is a popular food joint in Varanasi known for its delicious Jalebi and Kachoris. The shop serves freshly fried, crispy kachoris and sweet jalebis made from Desi Ghee. The flavor of the kachoris is delightful and pairs perfectly with the sweet jalebis. It's famous for its Aloo Kachori, a stuffed and fried snack ball, served with chana or aloo palak.
An Average Chaat Experience at Om Shree Ram Bhandar, Varanasi. I recently visited Om Shree Ram Bhandar in Varanasi, known for its street food offerings, particularly chaat. While the ambiance and service were decent, I found the taste of the chaat to be fairly average compared to the vibrant flavors Varanasi is famous for. The ingredients seemed fresh, and the portion sizes were generous, but the flavors lacked the punch and balance of spices I was expecting. The chaat felt a bit bland, and it didn’t quite live up to the standards of some other iconic chaat spots in the city. Overall, it’s a decent place if you’re looking for a quick snack, but if you’re in search of an unforgettable chaat experience in Varanasi, there might be better options to explore. Hopefully, the flavors improve with time, as the place has potential.

Om Sri Ram Bhandar is a popular sweet and snack shop in Varanasi. They sell many different sweets and snacks. Jalebi and Rasmalai are their most popular sweets. They also sell Sabji-Kachori, different types of chaat, Dahi-bada, and Golgappa. The shop is small with very little seating. A few tables are put outside when it's busy. The food is tasty, spicy, and reasonably priced. Vehicles can be parked on the street for free. The shop is not wheelchair accessible. They accept cash and digital payments. It's a good place to try the flavours of Varanasi.

One of the famous outlets in the city offering the famous Kachori (Puri) baaji, choti kachori, Jalebi and a variety of sweets. The outlet is filled with people all the time and the service here is very quick. The dishes are pretty tasty and not too heavy on your tummy. The jamoon here was good with a very soft texture on the inside and easily melts in the mouth.

Overhyped for local food items. In ₹50, I got two puris with sabzi. While I ordered two plates, I didn't feel it deserved a total of ₹100. I am not complaining about taste. To be honest, the sabzi has really been delicious and looked good in taste and color. But as a local, it is three times of what I pay just close to the shops at its neighborhood in Nadesar. I hope they will charge fair price for locals. Only then, I can hold courage to come again and again.
S S — Google review
We tried the pani puri, priced at ₹50 for just 5 pieces—which felt like a rip-off, especially given the underwhelming taste. You’ll find far better at half the price from local thelas. The papdi chaat was decent, with the papdi being the standout element, but nothing memorable. I’ve had better ones for under ₹50. Lastly, we tried the malai puri rabdi, which the shopkeeper claimed is a Varanasi specialty. The flavors were interesting and it was fairly enjoyable, but again, overpriced at ₹90. Overall, not a great experience—especially for a spot that seems to thrive on hype more than flavor.

In addition to the popular malaiyyo, Kachori Gali offers an assortment of street food options such as chaat and blue lassi.

Nestled on the tranquil banks of the Ganges at Assi Ghat, Pizzeria Vaatika Cafe is a charming eatery that seamlessly combines Italian flavors with an enchanting ambiance. This humble yet time-tested joint offers a delightful array of wood-fired pizzas and delectable apple pie, all prepared with utmost care and expertise.
I found this place through Youtube. Located right at the heart of Assi Ghat, it offers amazing views of the river. The cool breeze touches your face while you enjoy the pizzas and pastas. The quality of food is amazing. The price is reasonable. There's one downside, the washroom is extremely dirty there. The staffs should take care of that.
S H — Google review
Good food with breathtaking views of the Ganges. We had a pizza and a pasta and both tasted nice. However, we found a hair in the apple pie which they promptly replaced. The second time too, same story, after which we dropped the idea of having apple pie altogether. The whatever little portion we had before the hair, tasted delicious though. Finding a seat during peak hours can be difficult, but we didn't have to wait long as two sweet English ladies agreed to share their table with us.
Kuheli G — Google review
Nice place to hangout with friends & family. Would not recommended for senior citizens or any one having walking problem, reaching there is difficult. Place is really good for food. There is limited seating area, that's why one has to wait for 10-20 mins for getting a table. Behavior of staffs is really good, well managed. Liked there pizzas & mainly Apple Pie with Ice-cream. Price is OK. No parking available. Situated just beside Assi Ghat. Follow google map or ask anyone to reach. One can visit this place just after Assi Ghat evening aarti. Highly recommended.

We went for breakfast . It was not crowded, mind you it gets pretty crowded in the evening. One has to wait for 2-3 hours. Food was very tasty. We ordered special their famous Apple pie with icecream. It was freshly baked, very soft with little hint of cinnamon. We also tried there homemade ravioli pasta which I personally didn’t like It was worst & quantity was also less compared toprice Only issue we found and also discussed it with the owner was cleanliness and more maintenance of the property. A very recommendable place if you are visiting Assi Ghat only for apple pie
Dr. J — Google review
Totally worth all the buzz - this cafe did not disappoint! Their wood-fired pizzas were baked to perfection, but their apple pie with ice cream - it's seriously to die for - a must try dessert here. The ambience is calm and cozy, the staff were super nice and quick too. But the cherry on top is the view - sitting by the Ganga and enjoying pizza and apple pie makes it a complete experience. Definitely recommended - no second thoughts!

If you're at Varanasi and find yourself near Assi Ghat, Pizzeria Vatika Cafe is an absolute must visit. Nestled right on the Ghats with a serene view of the Ganges, the atmosphere here is both peaceful and vibrant a perfect blend of traditional charm and relaxed cafe vibes. While their pizzas are quite popular, the real standout for me was their Apple pie with vanilla ice cream. It's honesty one of the best I've ever had. The pie is freshly baked with a butterly, flaky crustand warm spiced apples that taste homemade and comforting. Paired with a generous scoop of smooth vanilla ice cream, it's a dessert that hits every note: warm, cold, sweet and slightly tart. Note- The waiting time is a lot(20-30min) so be prepared for that. Overall 5/5 for everything Highly recommend- especially for dessert lovers ❤️

Nestled in the lively Lanka area of Varanasi, Bana Lassi is a beloved destination that has captured the hearts of both locals and international travelers alike. This charming spot is famous for its hand-churned lassis, which come in an impressive array of flavors like Pomegranate Coconut, Pomegranate Coffee, and even Pomegranate Museli. Each glass is served in traditional kullhads, enhancing the experience with their thick consistency and delightful sweetness.
I was there during October and though weather was supposed to be 25-28°c, it was not... Sweat follows you like your shadow. Bana Lassi is the place where you can hide from it for a while. Cool & cozy place, surrounded by natural bamboo made interiors and nice mattresses with side pillows to chill. 2rooms, one for non-smokers and the other for smokers (not joint lovers). I had Banana Lassi, Pomegranate Lassi and Papaya Lassi. All of them specially the first one is the best. They use homemade yoghurt in making Lassi. The the best part is Sona (elder brother) and Akash (younger one, who makes most of the Lassi) are incredible for conversation. Smart, cordial and well educated. No wonder they earned fame in a short time.

Canton Royale Restaurant offers an upscale dining experience in a heritage space with colonial ambiance. The restaurant serves a mix of Indian and global cuisines, including Cantonese, Mexican, and Mediterranean dishes. Housed in a historical building that has been transformed into a modern-day traditional spectacle, the opulent restaurant features regal interiors reminiscent of the days of the Kings. While some reviewers found the food to be average, many appreciated the elegant decor and ambiance for group dining.
Everything is royal likee a place and wall painting are fully furnished and painting 🎨 of famous and old kings were hanged amd services on table is loved 😍 just awesome and almost all of them are of good behavioural staff
Ayan A — Google review
This review is a continuation of my main review on this hotel, where this restaurant resides. This restaurant has 2 sections: the ground floor section (where the main restaurant is) and the first floor section (where the breakfast buffet was held). In order to get to the first floor, one has to take a flight of stairs, which (as I saw) was a real struggle for the elderly people. It would've been convenient for them had the buffets been held on the ground floor. The food, however, was delicious and prepared very well, and good care was taken into displaying a spotless cutlery across tables (I am very particular about culinary cleanliness). They had a large variety of dishes on the menu from various cuisines, and good potion sizes were served. The breakfast buffet had a decent spread, and I especially enjoyed their "green glow" juice. It was so delicious! And healthy too! Actually, their entire breakfast was wholesome and fulfilling in every way, so it just set the right mood for the day, and that's something I really appreciated after dining here.
Tejaswi S — Google review
Canton Royale Restaurant offers a mixed but ultimately decent dining experience, characterized by a pleasant setting and commendable service, though the food quality can be inconsistent. It's a place with great potential, but one where you have to order carefully to ensure a truly satisfying meal. A Pleasant Ambiance and Excellent Service Upon entering, the first thing you notice is the good ambiance. The restaurant is well-lit and has a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere that feels like a welcome escape from the bustling streets of Varanasi. This pleasant setting, combined with the good service and cleanliness, creates a very inviting environment. The staff are attentive and polite, making sure you are comfortable and that your needs are met, which significantly elevates the dining experience. Even before the food arrives, the attention to detail is evident. The menu card is very nice looking, well-sorted, and tidy. It's a pleasure to browse and gives a great first impression of a well-managed establishment. A Tale of Two Tastes The dining experience begins on a high note with a delightful complimentary offering. The complimentary papad and chutney are definitely worth going for. They are a great start to the meal and are both fresh and flavorful. The absolute standout of the entire meal, however, was the lemon rice and curry combination. The flavors in this dish were nothing short of amazing—the rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked, and the curry was rich and harmonious. It was a clear testament to what the kitchen is capable of and is a dish worth visiting for. Unfortunately, not all items lived up to this high standard. The mushroom panini was just okay; it lacked a certain punch and came across as quite bland. It felt like it was missing key seasonings or ingredients to give it a more robust flavor profile. Even more disappointing was the Elaichi shorba, which was way too watery and tasteless. It completely lacked the aromatic warmth of cardamom and had the consistency of a thin, unseasoned broth, making it a definite miss. Final Verdict In conclusion, Canton Royale is a restaurant with a lot of positives. Its pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and a beautifully presented menu make it a good spot for a relaxed meal. However, the quality of the food is a bit of a hit-or-miss affair. If you stick to the recommended dishes like the incredible lemon rice and curry, you're likely to have a great experience. But be prepared that not every item on the menu may live up to your expectations.

*A Royal Experience in Varanasi* Canton Royal Restaurant in Varanasi is a hidden gem that offers an immersive dining experience, transporting you back in time to the era of royalty. The moment you step in, you're greeted by the majestic ambiance, reminiscent of a bygone era. The evening live gazal performance adds a touch of elegance, making it an ideal spot for special occasions. The Maharaja and Maharani thali are absolute must-tries, showcasing the best of Indian cuisine. The food is delectable, with both veg and non-veg options being pretty tasty. However, one minor drawback is the veg biryani, which could benefit from a lighter hand with the rose water. Despite this, the restaurant's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. The heritage decor and exceptional service make you feel like royalty, and the food is satisfying. Whether you're a food enthusiast or just looking for a unique experience, Canton Royal Restaurant is a great choice. *Rating:* 4.5/5 *Recommendation:* Maharaja and Maharani thali, veg and non-veg dishes (except veg biryani!) *Ambiance:* 5/5 (live gazal performance is a bonus) *Service:* 5/5 (attentive and courteous staff) If you're looking for a royal dining experience in Varanasi, Canton Royal Restaurant is a great option. Just be mindful of the rose water in the veg biryani, and you'll be in for a treat!
Shakyasingha C — Google review
This place seriously needs to address some deep rooted issues with its staff and overall service quality. From the bar to the restaurant to the general staff, most seem poorly trained and lack even basic hospitality etiquette. I’ve had multiple unpleasant experiences here in the past - rude, arrogant, and at times downright discriminatory behavior from their staff. Because of this, I had stopped visiting for a few years. Recently, I decided to give their restaurant, Canton Royale, another chance - and unfortunately, it confirmed that nothing has changed. The person serving us clearly had no interest in doing his job properly. He didn’t bother to greet back when I greeted him. When I asked where the main course section was on the menu, his response was dismissive and arrogant - pointing at it rudely and saying that it is right there, instead of answering politely. When I asked for food recommendations, he responded in an uninterested, almost irritated tone - saying “it’s up to you.” I even asked whether the chicken dish had a thick gravy, and his response was, “You can see when the food comes.” Absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant of this supposed standard. When the food did arrive, he simply dumped the dishes on the table and walked away, without offering to serve or even asking if we needed help. Meanwhile, I saw other tables being properly served. Throughout the meal, he never checked back once to see if we needed anything - I had to keep flagging down other staff members for even the smallest requests. To make things worse, I had ordered drinks before the food, but they only arrived after we had nearly finished eating, that too after repeatedly asking and reminding them. It’s clear that this staff member either hates his job or has absolutely no training in customer service. Sadly, this wasn’t a one-time incident - I’ve faced similar behavior at their bar and restaurant before. There’s a clear pattern of discriminatory treatment, not toward foreigners, but toward fellow Indians or anyone they don’t perceive as “worthy” of good service for some odd reason. Ironically, they seem to be nicer to foreigners - although this particular staff member was the worst of them all. To top it off, the food itself is below average - nothing special, definitely not worth the poor experience that comes with it. There’s a shocking lack of basic hospitality training across the staff. For a place that calls itself a reputed hotel, this level of service is disgraceful. Surya Palace management seriously needs to retrain their staff and teach them what genuine hospitality means. You’re in the service industry - start acting like it. I won't be returning back!

Cantone Royale offers an exceptional dining experience in Varanasi. The restaurant’s sophisticated decor creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, ideal for both casual and formal dining. The menu features an impressive variety of dishes, from traditional Indian cuisine to international favorites. I highly recommend the Chicken stroganoff and the Baked chicken — both were expertly prepared, with bold flavors and perfect seasoning. Perfect place for having continental food in Varanasi. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who were quick to accommodate special requests and provide recommendations. Pricing is reasonable for the quality, and portion sizes are generous. Overall, a top-tier choice for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable meal in Varanasi.

The Great Kabab Factory, located at the Radisson Hotel in Varanasi, offers a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian kebabs. Guests can opt for individual kebabs or indulge in a platter to sample different flavors. The menu also includes an array of Indian breads and delectable desserts.
The starter were great, we enjoyed it a lot but our mood got ruined when they served the main course, it was to much spices mixed together, couldn't eat had to left it. The deserts were also great, the staff were good and fast but as it start getting crowded they got slower or else everything is great, would recommend going.

It was a truly frustrating dining experience at Kabab Factory last night. Our group was there at restaurant, eager for a nice meal, but the food is just mediocre and the service leaves much to be desired. The staff is bustling around, overly attentive to overseas customers, while we sit there feeling overlooked and neglected. Meanwhile,we try to get the waitstaff's attention, but they seem too busy with other tables to notice our needs. Our requests are ignored, and it feels like we're practically invisible. I suggest restaurant need to pay attention on food taste but a lot more on its Services.

They say this is a 5 star establishment but I really don't believe them. THEY DO NOT HAVE VALET PARKING/ INDOOR PARKING ffs. The place has a good vibe but ofc they serve to a wide variety of customers and there are tables with 10-12 seating which ofc leads to a lot of noise at times. The food is decent enough, drinks served are good too, the service is prompt. Did I mention THEY DO NOT HAVE PARKING/ NOT EVEN VALET ffs. They'll make you park your car yourself on roadside beside walls which are places for people to pee. So you park your car and BAM you step into pee with its smell in the environment.

Extremely horrible experience. I went to Kebab Factory at Radisson in Varanasi. The food was served cold and didn’t taste fresh. And can’t even talk about how pathetic the service was. The floor manager during that time was someone by the name Sachin. Main course after multiple checks was served after half an hour and that too cold. Horrible horrible experience.

These guys are ruining the name & brand value of The Great Kabab Factory. preferred for extra hot and spicy food, they had cooks prepare our food to suit our palates. The food was delicious, especially the fried fish, chicken tandoori, veg platter, tikka. The meal also came with naan, paratha and rice.

Café Café Varanasi is a serene retreat located in the midst of one of Varanasi's bustling streets. The café offers window seats perfect for observing the lively scenes outside, and serves good quality coffee. Their menu features delicious pancakes with a resemblance to French flat crepes rather than fluffy American ones. Visitors praise the outstanding ambience, warm hospitality, and top-notch food and drinks quality at this café.
A lovely, clean and modern cafe. We stopped here on our way to Assi Ghat. The service was excellent a d the waiters were polite and kind. We enjoyed a cappuccino, an americano, maple syrup pancake and honey banana pancake. The coffees were hot and delicious and the pancakes were large, tasty and fresh. Nice air conditioning too which is always a winner!

Don’t recommend at all, ordered four quick dishes it took an hour for the guy to make it. Cold coffee was watery, club sandwich for rs 250 was not even worth it. Hardly had any vegetables and were just two small pieces of bread. Pancake was so eggy. All of this took more than an hour for the guy to make. There were not many people. Just three tables including us. Still took so much time. And all of this costed us somewhere around 850. There are better places. Please avoid to save your time and money.
Palek G — Google review
I had a cappuccino and the banana honey pancakes for breakfast. Both were decent but not worth the price of ₹500. I was a little bit shocked it cost that much, and the quality didn't meet the expectation unfortunately. Cappuccino tasted ok but was a bit watery and the pancakes could do with more flavour. It was doused in syrup which didn't actually add much flavour. Atmosphere was non existent when I was there, maybe it's busier on other days? The shop attendant was pleasant and lovely though.

Very friendly staff. Chill vibe. Tasty food. Delicious chai and chai macchiato. Worth the visit while in Varanasi.

A small quaint cafe located at assi crossing, usually filled with foreigners. We tried cappuccino and vegetable sandwich. Cappuccino was really great, however the sandwich portion was very small, I'll advice the owners/manager to use larger sandwich breads. If you're looking to have a nice coffee near assi Ghat , then cafe cafe is the place to go. However there are better options nearby to fulfill your food cravings.

This cafe is amazing! Great quality coffee (the best I’ve had in India so far) and great atmosphere. I had the banana honey pancakes and they were great as well. Such a nice spot would highly recommend. Enjoyed it so much we came back twice!

We visited this cafe twice while in Varanasi! My husband got a egg sandwich and I got scrambled eggs, toast and Americano the first day. The second day we got French toast, egg sandwiches and iced Americano. We are visiting from America so it was nice to taste something that reminded us of home. The staff was very attentive and polite. The dining area is a little tight, the first day we shared a table(didn't bother us)but the second day we had the place to our selves. We visited around noon both days. To save someone the trouble: We went to this cafe AFTER stopping at terracotta cafe (short walk away) Terracotta Cafes espresso machine was not working and they only had 3 breakfast items, that were not customizable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND CAFE CAFE VARANASI!!

What’s not to love about Café Café Varanasi!? The ambience, hospitality, and quality of the food/drink is seriously outstanding. Manish’s warm smile and genuine kindness was unmatched in comparison to every other Café that we have visited in our 3 weeks being here. Not to mention the coffee beans are sourced from top-quality growers vs. the generic Nescafe used by the majority of other spots in the area. Lastly, as a western tourist, any shop that opens prior to 10AM in India is a major win. 100/100 experience at Café Café Varanasi and definitely recommend to anyone thinking about it.

The Wife On Leave is a vegetarian restaurant in Varanasi that offers great food and amazing service. The menu has a variety of dishes that are perfect for both vegan and meat-eating customers. The atmosphere is family-friendly and the staff is friendly and welcoming. There's even free wifi available!
My favourite place❤️ Best service, best food, quality experience and top notch hospitality. Its been almost 3-4 years that we keep visiting this place. One of the gentleman named 'Arish' is one of the best employee and have always made us feel as a valuable customer of WOL

"The Restaurant "Wife On Leave" was a fantastic experience! The food was exceptional, with each dish bursting with flavor. We especially loved the Tandoori Fish in Curry, the Batloi meat was good just like homely, which was perfectly cooked and presented beautifully. The fresh mango Kulfi is highly priced but was good. The staff was incredibly over attentive and friendly, making us feel welcome but a little irritated a family wants its own time together as well. The ambiance was cozy and charming, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Overall, it was a great place, and we will definitely be back!" The people as one should be very careful if you are vegetarian and always must recheck your orders and the bill to check as well is also an intelligent idea.

"I recently visit this resturant and really liked this place, and the food was delicious too! I tried here Sanghai Paneer and Tandoori Thin Crust Pizza, both of which were tasty. The staff's behavior was also very good, and the ambiance was also good. The food presentation was impressive as well. I even found some great spots for taking photos. Overall, the prices were reasonable, but some things seemed a bit pricey to me."

If you're looking for a place with a charming ambiance and delicious food, Wife on Leave Restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed dining experience. The food, on the other hand, is truly a treat — full of flavor and crafted with care. The only downside is that the portions are a bit small, which makes the meal feel slightly overpriced. However, the great taste and cozy vibe make it a worthwhile choice for anyone looking to enjoy quality food in a nice setting.

Very good food and ambience ... Staff very helpful and friendly.... Tried their Tandoori Chicken ... it was juicy and sizzling.... Mango Kulfi was waaao .. Not to forget - Chicken Mumtaaz is definitely a must have !!! Blood Orange and Cold Coffee were a delight Full marks

Owners very rude and eogistic. It used to be a very good restaurant with good vibes. But last time I wenther3, the owners were dining at 1st floor and they had shutdown the floor just so they could have private dining. We had to order lunch below where the workers were repairing the ac so whole experience was ruined. There was still plenty of space upstairs butthe owner forced everyone to dine below. Is this how they treat their customers? What kind of power play is this? Their non-veg food used to be good by now it sucks, the chicken is very dry, the mutton kebabs will cause stomach problem. Veg food is still okay to eat. Really upset with their owner's behavior.

Neelu Kachori Bhandar, Dashaswmedh Road, Varanasi Visited: Sunday, October 12, 2025 (around 7 AM) Rating: 4.5/5 The place was already buzzing with locals, which says a lot. The kachori was crisp, fresh, and full of flavor, that perfect mix of spice and warmth that makes Varanasi mornings special. Simple place, no fancy setup - just pure taste and tradition. Worth waking up early for! Everyone should try it at least once. 🌞✨

This is a roadside hole in the wall with the most amazing street food Kachori’s I’ve ever had. Very flavourful without using onion and garlic (jain friendly). Very sweet owner and this place is three generations old. Don’t miss its a classic.

I tried Neelu ki Kachori in Varanasi, and the taste was simply amazing! The kachoris were served hot and fresh, perfectly crispy on the outside with a flavorful, spicy filling inside. They paired it with a delicious sabzi that complemented the kachori so well. The flavors were authentic and truly reflected the essence of Banarasi street food. The stall may look simple, but the food speaks for itself. It’s very popular among locals, and you’ll often find a crowd waiting to get their share — which itself is proof of how good it is. The prices are very affordable, making it a perfect breakfast option in Varanasi. Overall, Neelu ki Kachori is a must-try for anyone visiting the city. If you love authentic street food, this place will not disappoint you.* 🥙✨

Baba Thandai is a must-try in Varanasi, known for its delicious and authentic taste. Located near Godowlia Chowk, this hidden gem offers a variety of lassi including kesar pista lassi, served with complimentary 'siddhi' or 'bhang' or 'Thandai.' The friendly owner ensures a pleasant experience in the small but clean shop.
Classic old school Thandayi shop. I tried both bhang and no-bhang versions and the taste was good. The bhang version did not get me high at all and that means they put a very moderate amount and won’t increase the quantity unless you specifically ask them to. Please have one and wait for effects (~30 mins) before downing another one. :)

“I recently visited Baba Thandai, and it was a great spot to relax and enjoy some unique drinks. Their special Thandai is definitely worth trying! Overrated. I tried because of someone's vlog. But it's just like very normal drink. Very much diluted. Very very diluted. 90 ruppes for a glass is too much. It should cost around rs.40

It is o.k. It is at basphatak, godowlia. Old shop littile bit inside from main road, but baba thandai board is visible. Two Gate One small for advance token receipt. Other for delivery. It is a very small place so always feel crowded. But in 5 to 10 min you will have it. Thandai cost rs 80 but they give a token of rs 70 might be old receipt. So price are more than token receipt. According to shopkeeper quantity will same full glass of thandai. Taste was awesome, very nice price is also high for same. So its not only special shop for thandai in. Varanasi other option are also good

I never had thandai in my life but I heard that if u in Kashi you better have this nd I love the flavour nd the texture

This felt more like badam milk than actual thandai — thin, watery, and overly sweet with sugar syrup. Definitely not the rich, spiced flavor you expect from proper thandai. If you’re looking for bhaang, maybe it’s worth it, but for taste alone, it’s disappointing. Also, the shop doesn’t accept UPI — cash only, which is inconvenient in today’s time. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re specifically going for the bhaang.

I highly recommend this cafe for breakfast. It has a good range of western breakfast choices if you want a change from local food. The coffee is outstanding. I like this place because there is no loud music, no one will force you to order immediately as soon as you sit, and there is no compulsion to leave as soon as you are finished eating. It feels like a place where I can sit and enjoy at my own pace. They also have some clothes and other things on sale. The staff are friendly and very competent.

If you're in the mood for a delicious and popular snack, head over to Chachi Ki Kachori, also known as Auntys Kachori. You can find this renowned spot at Lanka chaurah, where they serve up mouthwatering kachoris and jalebis. Be sure to arrive early though, as these treats are so popular that they often sell out by 11 am.
Absolutely spectacular street food eating experience. Very crowded. Freshly prepared. Very tasty & delicious. Served quick and hot. Once you've paid and collected your order, you find yourself a sitting space on the other side of the road - sit on a wooden plank, and use an empty tin canister as yr dining table. Extra curry may be supplied to you right there at your seat. Business hours from about 06.00 AM till 10.00 AM
NILAY S — Google review

Been here post a suggestion by ChatGPT about famous street foods in Varanasi. You get better kachodi at a normal tea shop than this. Salty empty kachoris and watery chutney. Hiegene : absent. Not maintained plus no place to sit. Dalda containers are seen stacked. So beware of the oil you shall be consuming.

The kachori here is delicious, especially with the great hing flavor. However, I wasn't a fan of the jalebi. For better jalebi, I recommend going to Pahalwan Lassi shop, which is directly across from this place.

Assi ka Diljeet Cafe, formerly known as Varanasi Diljeet Cafe, has relocated to Assi Ghat from the Galis of Bangali Tola. The cafe is home to two adorable indie dogs and offers delicious parathas in a vibrant setting. Situated on the rooftop, it provides picturesque views of the city. This locally-owned establishment exudes a cozy ambiance and serves authentic Indian cuisine that evokes a sense of being at home.
We visited this restaurant in November. We were tired of looking at reviews of restaurants and wanted something a local might frequent. We asked a fellow traveler if she had any recs and Assi ka is what she suggested. It was exactly what we were looking for. Full of locals and full of delicious food! From what I could gather from talking to the waiter this place is female run and owned, another plus for us. From the moment we walked in after climbing a small flight of stairs and removing our shoes we were completely charmed. We were so warmly welcomed. Now onto the food! We got the Diljeet Special Thali and it was delicious. From the looks at the other patrons, everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. We probably spent two hours here just enjoying our food and relaxing. This is a place you can even hang out in and chill with some tea. Excellent music available, requests are welcomed! I highly recommend this place.

Found the cafe on Google during my visit to Varanasi. The place is very close to Assi Ghat and the moment we entered the cafe we liked it instantly especially because of the sitting arrangement which is super cozy and comfortable and gives you the feeling of home. The staff is polite . The view from the window of the cafe is lively especially in the evening or night. I liked the handwritten menu card 😊 yes the food taste can be improved and adding a few non vegetarian items to the menu would be an added advantage. Also if a corner can be arranged for hand wash or a small basin in the toilet itself could be very helpful. Overall a great place to chill out. 👍

Laxmi Chai is a popular and reliable spot for tea lovers in Varanasi. Their chai has a rich, satisfying flavor that hits just right, especially in the morning. The white butter toast is simple but perfectly crisp and comforting — a classic combo that pairs wonderfully with the tea. The place has a local vibe, often buzzing with regulars. It’s not fancy, but it delivers on taste and consistency. Just a bit more cleanliness or seating comfort could make it a 5-star experience. Still, highly recommended for a quick and satisfying tea break in the city.
Jitendra M — Google review
Good place to have tea, overall you get real vibes of varanasi at this shop. Very old and traditional way of making tea. Malai toast with tea is worth trying
Amjad K — Google review
Another highly recommended place to visit, only if you are a fan of bread topped with white butter and sugar or bread toast with white butter and chat masala combined with Chai or coffee. Finding the shop is difficult but leave the first two shops as you start entering the lane and go inside the lane to the original shop. Nostalgic feeling for older folks who have grown in bread makhan chini but the new gen will not understand the hype.
Shashank S — Google review
Laxmi Chai in Varanasi felt quite average, without living up to any hype. The chai, priced at ₹15, seemed expensive compared to other local options, and the butter toast at ₹40 was similarly overpriced. Overall, the experience was just okay, with nothing particularly special to make it stand out.
Vishal Y — Google review
So there will be a confusion of which one is the original Laxmi chai wale as there are two. We ordered from both the shops, the malai and butter toast and chai, both the shop orders have similar tastes only, not much difference. But suggestion is to ask locals which one is legit.
Monika M — Google review
Popular instagram chai spot specialized in malai toast and tea, but I was extremely disappointed with the offering and the location. The tea shop is inside a very narrow lane and has a waste water running in between. Even after so much fame from instagram, the owner ignores basic hygiene and health measures. The shop employees conduct themselves as if they dont need customers and are slightly hot-headed, which i didn't appreciate, neither did I appreciate overly priced basic butter toast and ok tea. Their Malai toast feels like a scam. In the name of Malai you get what is a coating of milk. Overall, if you must fulfill your instagram to-do list in Varanasi, have a visit yourself, but I'd find other hidden gems who serve better quality, quantity, and priced malai toast and tea.
Sidharth J — Google review
Malai toast tastes good but bit overpriced. Chai is awesome.

If you're on the hunt for an authentic taste of Banaras, look no further than Raja Ram Lassi in Thatheri Bazaar. This charming shop has been serving up delicious lassi for over 50 years, offering a nostalgic experience that locals cherish. The lassi here is crafted from fresh dahi or curd, expertly churned and generously topped with a rich layer of malai, creating a creamy delight that's simply irresistible.
Best lassi in Benaras one can have. Mild sweet well blended with malai topping on it. I’ve tried several places being a foodie but, this place is awesome! Check local people around for his name!! Non tech savvy person so, I initiated to share my view for his savoury.
Priye C — Google review
My dad used to enjoy lassi from this shop in his childhood, and now I feel lucky to savor the same amazing taste today!! Must visit.
Isha P — Google review
It's a 50+ year old shop. The person running this is very humble. The lassi prices were reasonable and the quantity was satisfying. The location shown on google Maps is incorrect, the correct location is it's on the same street as ram chat bhandar. I tried editing the location, but google map doesn't give a damn and continues to misguide the tourists.

On the streets of Banaras/ Varanasi, you can find some hidden gems. This is one of them. The malai lassi is yum! A bit sweet for me

Ultimate taste with little smoky flavour as the milk boiled on firewood

Overly overrated pro max! The sellers attitude is as bad as his lassi. It’s such a vague and normal lassi.
Arjun A — Google review
Having lassi here from the past 20 years and frankly speaking this is the best and authentic banarsi lassi unlike others cheating customers on the name of different flavors! Do try when in varanasi!

This bustling eatery serves up piping-hot samosas that are deep-fried to perfection and filled with a delightful mix of spiced potatoes, often complemented by additional ingredients like carrots and peas.
Tastiest samosa’s in India! Quite a unique taste.

Nestled at the entrance of Bangali Tola Street, just a stone's throw from Dashaswamedh Ghat, Purshottam Idli Corner is a hidden gem that has been delighting locals and visitors alike for 27 years. At first glance, it may seem like an unassuming small window, but the irresistible aroma wafting through the air will guide you right to it.
In one word we can say 'perfect' taste what anyone want from South Indian food. Here shop owner is very friendly in nature and supporting. Here there are two timings, one is 8 am to 11:30 am and second is 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm. He provides medu Vada with sambhar and coconumt chutney in morning shift and in evening you'll get all food with only coconut chutney. Speciality of it's coconut chutney is that he made it in his own special way with many ingredients like coconut with daal, chilly, ginger, mint and many other things for increasing taste of food. I have eat south Indian food at many places like Thanjavur, tiruchirapalli, Andhra, Udupi, Thiruvananthapuram, kanchipuram, but the taste of it's idli corner is special and unique in India. Every tourist who visits varanasi, should eat at least 2 pieces of idli here... This is at top 5 food places of Varanasi in my list. It's well known in locals of Varanasi for it's delicious and tasty south Indian food.

Pahalvan Lassi Bhandar is a must-visit spot for anyone exploring the vibrant streets of Varanasi. As you wander through this bustling city, you'll find lassi shops at nearly every turn, making it easy to indulge in this refreshing drink. On my way to Brijrama Palace, I hopped into an auto rickshaw that whisked me away to what locals claim is the best lassi in town. The experience was delightful!

When exploring the vibrant streets of Varanasi, one cannot miss indulging in the delightful Benarasi Thandai. This refreshing drink is a staple at numerous street vendors, available from dawn until late into the night. Served in traditional kulhads, it’s often garnished with rich Rabri and infused with a fragrant rose essence that elevates its flavor profile.
