Fine dining restaurant
El Celler de Can Roca is a chic bistro in Costa Brava, run by the three Roca brothers. The restaurant has received numerous accolades and is known for its inventive variations on traditional Catalan recipes. It offers multi-course tasting menus with dishes like oyster with anemone sauce, garlic sand, tender walnut, and seaweeds.
I went here for lunch today with my friend. I booked for today, 12:30, a year ago. All I can say is that it’s worth the wait. The food and the service exceeded my expectations. I’m very happy with my experience and my friend can say the same. We even got the chance to have a photo with Joan Roca. He was also there when we arrived and greeted us (and I assume other people who followed).
Charriz B — Google review
Michelin guide from 1983 states that a 3 Michelin star restaurant can boast of “Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey. Superb food, fine wines, faultless service, elegant surroundings... One will pay accordingly!”. We did that *special* journey to Can Roca almost one year ago - and all this time I had mixed feelings about writing the review of 3 out of 5 for a Michelin 3* restaurant. The truth is - superb food was there. The chefs still do have something to say. The signatures (like the olive tree) are awesome. As well as fine wines (please please if you decide to visit, spare those extra €€ for a wine pairing - you will be surprised how well thought is the interplay of food and wines). The desserts by Jordi Roca are very playful and you will feel his vibe of an “enfant terrible” - on top of that, petits four are being served from a lovely dessert trolley (our portions of chocolate were really generous and the kid even got some to take away). So why 3 out of 5? The service and the attention to special asks. One of us called well in advance before the visit asking if there are dishes with fresh vegetables and if those could be changed for something else. When we arrived, the ask was repeated. We had a long profound conversation on if that person really, but really can’t eat the very wonderful fresh veggies the chef was preparing. We reconfirmed that definitely not and asked again if he could get some alternative. A lady said that she would do her best and disappeared - later on we were served by other people. To our surprise our friend got absolutely the same dishes as everyone else. With no disclaimer, no excuse. C’mon, we all know that some chefs are very sensitive in terms of customization - I respect that, but if it’s the case, it would be great to let clients know in advance. As a result, our friend had to miss 3 dishes. Obviously, when it’s a 17 items course, 3 is not a big deal and we didn’t say anything, I’m very well aware how stressful the service might be even without complaining clients. But when we were asked if we would come back - we said yes only out of politeness. If 3* stars are considered “the Mount Everest of fine dining”, maybe we’ll climb Kilimanjaro next time.

I don’t know what I can say that has not already said about this place. This was the last dinner of our European summer trip this year. We were lucky to get off the waitlist. Rented a car just to drive 1hr from Barcelona to dine here for dinner. 3* mean it’s worth a trip just to go and dine. I would agree as it was worth that trip and drive: the epitome of 3*. The food, hospitality and service are beyond words. It’s so many course but they were all so tasteful and fun; we didn’t want it to stop. All this success and the Roca brothers are still so humble; each one gracing us with their presence that evening. The wine pairing is a must, but next time, I’m taking a deep dive in their expansive list of thousands of bottles. Expect a 4hr meal, at least. They deserve their accolades and I can’t wait to go back.

I am not sure it’s possible to create a more complete, delicious meal from start to finish. This was so much better than almost every other fine dining restaurant I’ve been to. Not much else to say. So perfect in every regard from the food to setting to service.

2025 "Festival" menu - extraordinary tastes and preparations. Very large quantity of food--surprisingly great value in the context of fine dining. Particular highlights: alcoholic drink/wine program, as well as the brioche bread variations.

An Ode to Culinary Perfection – El Celler de Can Roca Redefines Fine Dining Dining at El Celler de Can Roca is not simply a meal—it is a meticulously orchestrated performance, where every element resonates with artistry and soul. Nestled in the tranquil heart of Girona, this temple of gastronomy transforms dining into an immersive, almost transcendental experience. The Roca brothers have mastered a rare alchemy: combining groundbreaking innovation with an unwavering devotion to Catalan heritage. Each dish on the tasting menu tells a story, seamlessly weaving local traditions with bold global inspirations. The journey is as intellectual as it is sensory—expect whimsical nods to world travel, poetic homages to memory and scent, and presentations so beautiful they border on sculpture. Every plate is an interplay of texture, temperature, and taste so harmoniously composed it feels like a culinary symphony. Highlights like the evocative Memory of a Turkish Perfume are not just flavors—they’re emotions, evoking nostalgia and wonder in equal measure. Seafood dances with precision, aged meats sing with depth, and desserts arrive as if they were dreamed by an artist, not a chef. The service is world-class: warm, instinctive, and deeply human. The staff’s storytelling elevates each course, and every detail—from timing to table choreography—is perfectly considered. The wine program, curated by Josep Roca, is nothing short of legendary; his pairings amplify the experience into something ethereal, where every sip feels curated for that exact moment in time. El Celler de Can Roca is not merely one of the best restaurants in the world—it’s a destination where food becomes poetry and hospitality becomes art. The experience is intimate yet grand, playful yet profound. It is worth every mile traveled, every moment anticipated, and every memory it leaves imprinted on your soul. For any true lover of cuisine, this is a pilgrimage—a reminder that dining, at its very best, can move you.

A Culinary Masterpiece – El Celler de Can Roca Exceeds All Expectations Dining at El Celler de Can Roca is not just a meal—it’s an unforgettable journey through flavor, innovation, and artistry. From the moment you arrive in the serene surroundings of Girona, you know you’re about to experience something truly exceptional. The Roca brothers have created a restaurant that flawlessly balances avant-garde creativity with deep-rooted respect for tradition. Each dish is a carefully crafted narrative, merging Catalan heritage with global inspiration. The tasting menu flows like a symphony: inventive, emotional, and utterly precise. Expect moments of pure wonder—like the famous "memory of a Turkish perfume" or dishes inspired by world travels that still feel deeply personal. The presentation is breathtaking, often resembling modern art more than food. But this is no case of style over substance—the flavors are bold, harmonious, and deeply satisfying. Whether it’s the perfectly aged meats, delicate seafood, or whimsical desserts, each course reveals the team’s relentless pursuit of perfection. Service is impeccable—warm, knowledgeable, and never intrusive. The staff anticipates every need while explaining each dish and wine pairing with passion and clarity. Speaking of wine, Josep Roca’s legendary wine cellar is a treasure trove. The pairings elevate the meal to another dimension entirely. El Celler de Can Roca deserves every accolade it has received—and then some. It’s a rare restaurant where gastronomy becomes emotional, even poetic. Worth every bit of anticipation, travel, and cost, it’s an experience that lingers in your memory long after the final bite. A must-visit for any serious food lover. Simply one of the best restaurants in the world.

Located in the basement of Girona's casino, Divinum is a top-notch restaurant known for its artfully presented seasonal dishes. The dining room features a beautiful brick ceiling that exudes elegance and attention to detail. The restaurant is run by Laura Tejero, a skilled sommelier, and Joan Morillo, an experienced head waiter. They bring their expertise from renowned establishments like El Raco de Can Fabes and Rossini.
Was able to get a reservation for same day easily while traveling and saw the venue while sightseeing in Girona. We tried the tasting menu. Everyone at table must order this. It was pricey but worth the money. I was too full by the last two deserts. There were so many courses and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend!

Dining Experience at Divinium in Girona – High-Level Service but an Uneven Culinary Journey During our recent vacation in Girona, we spontaneously decided to visit the Michelin-listed restaurant Divinium. We were fortunate to get a table despite booking on short notice. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a sleek and elegant design, though the atmosphere felt silent somewhat stiff and minimalist. It’s possible this was an intentional aspect of the experience. We opted for the smaller tasting menu at €110 per person, as the larger menu (€130) would have taken an additional hour beyond the two hours for the smaller menu. The restaurant also offered a wine pairing for around €70, which we found to be an intriguing option. The visit ended up taking nearly three hours despite choosing the smaller menu. The service was exceptional, marked by attentiveness and professionalism. The staff ensured our glasses were always filled, the table was cleaned between courses, and small details like folding the napkin when one of us went to the restroom were much appreciated. One small area for improvement would be the clarity of the explanations of the dishes in English, as they were sometimes delivered quickly and weren’t always easy to understand. As for the food, the dishes were generally interesting and flavorful, with innovative presentations. However, we felt that some dishes lacked that final touch to feel truly complete. One dish, the "Duck with pear," was unfortunately a disappointment for us. It had a strong iron or metallic taste and a grainy texture (it was a type of pâté) that made it inedible for us. The server offered to replace the dish, but we declined. As a kind gesture, we were later served two extra desserts, which we appreciated. The menu started off very strong, with the brioche bread and the smoked eel being highlights, but it lost some momentum towards the end. None of the desserts stood out as particularly memorable, though they were perfectly acceptable. They did impress with very nice plating and presentation, including an effective use of dry ice. A very nice touch from the restaurant was that after the meal, we received personalized, gold-colored pamphlets listing all the dishes we had eaten that evening, along with the date and the names of all the staff who worked that night. This was a very stylish and memorable touch that we will truly appreciate. Despite some inconsistencies in the culinary experience, it was overall an exciting and good experience for the total price of €245 (including food, cava, and sparkling water). We truly appreciated the high level of service and the creative cooking at Divinium, even though there is room for improvement.

Came here to enjoy the “small” tasting menu which I took with the wine pairings. The appetizers were superb including an eel tartlet with lemon foam and a cod tartlet with red pepper gel. The mains were hit or miss. The snail with onion and anchovy was delicious. The egg yolk cured in salt and sugar and finished with a celeriac cream was strange. The cream was tasty but the egg seemed a bit overdone as it stuck to the teeth. The codfish was well prepared but overall the dish was quite salty. The strawberry and cream dessert was both delicious and beautifully presented. The professionalism of the staff was fantastic. They really worked as one team. The decor seemed sterile for a Michelin but maybe that was intentional? Not to my liking. I thought overall the meal and the pairings were well worth the price. Be prepared - 3hrs from start to finish.

It is a must experience to have if the 1 star Michelin restaurant is affordable for you. We had the "Menu Esencia", a fantastic explosion of flavours. Thoroughly enjoyed it and I thoroughly recommend it. The only thing I believe could be better, my opinion, is that the restaurant decoration could be much warmer and welcoming. I did find it slightly cold, which I guess is because they want the food and service to be the main focus of attention, nevertheless, if it was a bit warmer and welcoming space, it would definitely be a 5 star all round!

Truly a memorable experience. From the service to the tasting menu, everything was executed with intention and finesse. I cannot wait to come back.

What an absolutely amazing evening! If you have a penchant for viewing food as a form of art and relishing in a culinary theater, this is undeniably the place for you. We decided to go for the small tasting paired with wine, and let me tell you, it turned into a delightful marathon of flavors that stretched nearly three hours. Every single bite was like a symphony of taste explosions. While the interior exudes an elegant ambiance, it did take us a brief moment to fully embrace the brightness of the lights. Nevertheless, once settled, it contributed to the overall charm of the place. We can't recommend it enough – a truly remarkable experience for those who appreciate the fusion of artistry and exceptional taste in their dining adventure! A true gastronomic restaurant!

Café le Bistrot is a Girona classic that has maintained its iconic status since the late '70s. The restaurant exudes a French ambiance reminiscent of authentic Parisian brasseries and offers a range of dishes, including Catalan meats and cheeses, pancakes, and housemade desserts.
At 22 Euros the 3 course lunch ( plus a glass of wine) is hard to beat... Especially given the number of dishes you can chose from with each course... We were able to get a table at 2:30 and even then the place was still packed with locals who know a good thing. My wife's excellent grilled steak ( 3 Euros extra ) took top prize. She also liked the onion" souffle" . My baked cod was pretty good but the cheese cake was delicious. We paid another supplement of 5 Euros for a whole bottle of the house wine. This is an excellent opportunity to try homestyle Catalan cooking. Reservations highly recommended... 3 generous courses and a bottle of wine for 2 of came to Euro 50. That's pretty good in this day and age , especially for a good meal.

The location is really superb! It is like in a movie! Big plus that it is open till 00:00. But the food was not tasty at all. I ordered fish with peas purée and sweet pancakes with strawberry. Fish was very greasy and almost no spices, and puree was tasting like raw flour…when I asked to add some salad with vegetables without onion (but any kind of vegetables including cucumbers etc) I got a strange plate of peas and carrot with no spices. Pancakes were tasteless too, only strawberries were fine lol. The waitress with black hair (Bushere / Bu) was the only one serving me (she seems to be the only one working here normally) other waiters (around 3 of them) were ignoring me even when I looked at them. I was waiting for any waiter to come for 20 min to take my order… and before I was not given any menu, u had to ask for it. Moreover, another waitress (black woman) was super unpleasant with her behavior, the way how she brought me glass of water and took my dishes was very disrespectful. Additionally, normally you shouldn’t wait in the restaurant too long for waiter to come and ask if you need anything else / or you want to pay. Here I waited forever, no one really came back to me to check. Restaurant doesn’t have English menu. The smell inside the restaurant is not good - a strong smell of detergent like bleach (on tables). I hope this place will reconsider the staff and will make it a good spot for visitors not only because of the location. I expected tasty food how it should be and standard service but instead I got neither of this. Sad.
Yaroslava B — Google review
The terrace and location could not be beaten. The servers were lovely also, translating the Catalan menu, and taking the food back. But the food was underwhelming. I ordered the steak with duck liver pate, medium rare. But it came fully cooked through. I sent it back, and this time there was a little pink on the inside - still not right. The pate was delicate and couldn’t be tasted on the steak. I would avoid this dish.
Jay K — Google review
This place came highly recommended. Food is very competent and service is decent. We each had to order a set and seating on the terrace was not available, which might have been a more of a highlight. All in all no regrets eating here. Great value for money.

The scenery is amazing, service was very good, and the food is such an experience. I would highly recommend to try the “pates” that they have, it was the best I’ve had in Spain

We had lunch at this place and were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is very cozy, and although the outside terrace, which is usually picturesque, wasn't available at that time, we were comfortably seated inside. Opting for the daily menu turned out to be an excellent choice. The dishes were exceptional: the pumpkin soup was velvety and delicious, and the grilled meat was simply amazing. For dessert, I ordered cheese with honey, and to my delight, it tasted exactly like the Russian "творог с медом." Overall, it was a great experience!

Simply superb find in the heart of Girona. It’s a high end restaurant with classics roots and a playful and well-honed modern technique throughout. We went for a recent lunch last minute and were thoroughly impressed by every single delicious dish and the staffs superb attention to detail. It was wild mushroom season so they had several specials highlighting the bounty of the area. All were great, but the baby squid was as good as it can possibly be! Wonderful and dense wine list focused on local producers at very reasonable prices . Overall a bit expensive but worth it for a top of the line meal on a very relaxed and professional setting.

A true culinary treat. Well deserved Michelin rating. From start to finish, every bite was an delightful experience. The staff is friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The courses are well portioned and the explosion of flavors continues to excite the pallet with each well crafted plate. The restaurant is well decorated with excellent art that gives a relaxing but sophisticated feel. A meal not soon forgotten.

It’s an unforgettable meal at Massana. 15 beautiful, decadent and refined dishes. Nothing too fuzzy just great local ingredients that a lot of care has been put into. This is old school fine dining in a beautiful setting. The staff is very attentive and the sommelier recommended beautiful wines. Well deserved Michelin star.

Wonderful experience of the tasting menu- visiting solo and was very well looked after, particularly by Edward who gave fantastic education on the (mainly Spanish) wines to accompany the food. Family-run affair and feels all the more special for it. Highly recommended. Chocolate dessert probably the best I have ever eaten and that’s coming from a chocoholic!

What a great discovery in Girona. Recommended by friends and did not disappoint at all. Great combinations of flavors (meatballs with squid for example), marinated mussels gave a new expression of the seafood. Combined with great service, passionated sommelier and good wines made it superbe evening!

I love Michelin 1* restaurants as they have the quality of a Michelin star but tend to experiment more than the higher stated restaurants. Masan’s did not disappoint! We opted for the pris fix menu and the matched wines. Note there were 15 courses and 12 wines and each pour was a full pour. We especially loved that the wines were all Spanish wines and one craft beer. Each course was excellent and both pleading to the eye as well as palate. We are addicted to the green gazpacho and their wonderful foie gras presentation. But the duck was by far the star as it was prepared perfectly and was sliced so thin and the pears made it perfection. Definitely worth the side trip to Girona for this meal and look forward to returning.

La Fabrica Girona is a popular spot known for its mellow brunch, vegan snacks, and specialty coffee. The venue, created by professional cyclist Christian Meier and his wife Amber, has become a must-visit for many cyclists in the Girona region. The former carpentry workshop is now filled with antiques collected by the couple on their travels. With bikes adorning the walls and outdoor seating available, it's a great place to relax and enjoy delicious food and sensational coffee.
We stumbled upon this absolute gem while exploring Girona, and we were so impressed! Despite arriving at peak time with two families, the staff managed to seat us right away and provided excellent service throughout. They also catered brilliantly for the vegan family in our group, nothing was too much trouble when going through the menu, which was excellent to see. We ordered quite a lot, and every single dish was genuinely delicious. Portions were generous, and the prices very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Even the coffee was fantastic. I rarely give 5-star ratings, but this was a superb experience from start to finish. Highly recommend visiting La Fàbrica…well done to the team!

I think the café is great. The food is fantastic; I had a bagel with avocado for breakfast. The latte tasted great, highly recommended! The atmosphere is great, it's very cozy to sit outside on the small square and enjoy the sun. Inside also looks really cool, super quaint. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. You don't need to book in advance, you just need a bit of luck.

Randomly found this restaurant with a high rating in Girona. And that was really surprising. The place has a nice story over the owners, really nice to know about them. The food was not just delicious but is really pretty, the atmosphere is cozy warm and unique. Is just like a dream restaurant I always had in my head. I really recommend it.

Delicious food, friendly service and a lovely atmosphere to enjoy it all. We loved the chia bowls! My husband said the coffee is superb and I loved the rooibos tea that I enjoyed with the delicious cinnamon bun. I want to come back to try a bagel sandwich or avocado toast, which look amazing.

Never had such tasty, wholesome, vibrant, and breakfast/brunch. Unlike any place i've ever been. Indoor area is really cool with lots of plants and a moody eclectic decor. The outdoor seating is on the stone stairs outside and is a lovely spot. I visited twice. Once just for coffee and croissant seated outside, and once for a proper last day of holiday breakfast with my wife. Had the breakfast bowl (think warm porrage meets coconut milk chia pudding but with a huge variety of fruits, seeds and edible flowers), and the avocado sourdough toast with frid egg (this had juice tomatoes, micro salad sprouts, sweetcorn and was just a real wholesome colourful plate). The really helpful descriptive glossy menu was more like a descriptive sales booklet with photos. There are also a few pages dedicated to the team and explaining the coffee roasters and the bread guru there - this gave me a sense that they care about values and quality ingredients - the proof of which really was in the eating 😋. I actually cant wait to go on and in about this place to friends... they'll love me lol. Will be back

Excellent breakfast/brunch old-town cafe. International-friendly, broad selection of dishes and baked goods with lots of local sourcing. Cheerful, multi-lingual staff are very helpful and attentive. Source, roast, and proudly serve their own coffees. Leans into cycling theme (it’s Girona), but adds some fun organic homey feel.

The best breakfast I had in a long time, if not ever. Staff makes sure that you have a good time, all smiles and very friendly. English is almost primary language here. All ingredients are local and fresh (on display at the counter) and the coffee is great - the founder couple started 2015 (10 year anniversary this year) with a coffee store (cf Coffee Mafia). We ordered delicious bagels, and fresh bread and even my small one loved the crunchy bread crust (unusual) and avocado topping. I was hammered by the taste of tomato, olive paste, balsamico, burrata bread and would highly recommend this. The love to detail shows in the dishes and every small design aspect of this superbe location. We sat inside as outside was all packed on a Sunday morning. But the bike-themed interior makes for a pleasant sit so you can spare some sun during your memorable stay.

First off, this place looks amazing and has a very cool decor and atmosphere. The food is also on another level - I wish I could visit again and again (but sadly I was in Girona just on a short trip). Vegetarian and vegan options available ❤️ The food is not only presented beautifully, but also tastes amazing, and the staff was very friendly and lovely (we didn't have problems communicating in English). The dessert (cake) was delicious too! Zero complaints! wish I had a bigger stomach

Tapas bar
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Girona's Old Town, Zanpanzar is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Basque cuisine without breaking the bank. This lively taverna boasts an impressive array of pintxos—small bites served on crusty bread and topped with various delicious ingredients. You can sample local favorites like garlic prawns, cod omelette, chorizo, and ox cheek terrine at your leisure since no reservations are needed.
Absolutely amazing. I love pinxtos and they have it down to a perfection here. We couldn’t stop going back for more. Every bite was bursting with flavor. My favorite Girona restaurant. I will be back!!

Cod omelette was surprisingly tasty. They have lots of meat options but limited vegetarian or fish tapas (the ones they have are nice but a bit oily). Loved their bread, very soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Nice staff too and cozy atmosphere. Would recommend to share dishes with more than 2 people as the portions are quite big.
Dalila A — Google review
A simple and quite rustic place that opens at 7 PM. The pintxos are creative, tasty, and also have a bit of a rustic feel. The atmosphere is relaxed and very pleasant. I ordered a beer, and the idea of a “small beer” got a whole new meaning – it was really small :-))) Overall, I was very happy, but I have to admit I expected a little bit more. But that’s more about my expectations than the actual quality of the food

We were in girona for a few days and walked past this place a couple of times and it looked great so we decided to go for our last night before leaving girona. It was was gorgeous and felt welcoming and as we had not eaten this style of food before the man working at the bar was lovely and explained everything to us. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and it was fun watching the new plates as they came out of the kitchen. Everything looked and tasted fresh and we thought the combinations were creative and worked perfectly. It is such a fun concept and the place had a very friendly vibe, all the staff were lovely and it felt warm and very relaxed which is just what we wanted. Definitely a highlight of our trip and I wish them much success and will be recommending them if I know anyone coming to Girona!

I have never posted a 1 star review before, but after last night's experience I feel I must. This place used to be great. Great food, friendly service, cool vibe. We had been here a couple of times since the new ownership took over and thought deterioration of quality of food and service was down to getting the place up and running, but clearly it is getting worse instead of better. We (party of 2), came in, were seated and given menus and then ...nothing. Waiters took orders at other tables, served drinks and food to other parties, but never even came to take our drink order. After 20 minutes of trying to get someone to take our drink order we got up and left. As we were leaving, suddenly they all appeared and wanted to know what was wrong. Obviously, since we were never served my comments about the food aren't based on last night's experience, but on the last time we were there, about a month ago, when we both commented that the food was OK, but not as good as it used to be. Less variety on the menu, and not as well executed as before. This used to be a place we always took visitors... it's a real shame it has changed for the worse.
Ami V — Google review
Change of ownership did not diminish the quality of food we expected and received. We visited as a couple from England on Sunday lunchtime & Tuesday evening. The owner told us that it was a “soft opening” until the kitchen became more established (& then would include à la carte). Pinxas & nice wine satisfied our requirements with a good choice of flavours on tasty bread bites. We enjoyed both red rioja & dry white wine. You need only choose the flavours that suit, the cocktail sticks are counted & you pay accordingly. 4 glasses of wine & 10 pinxas: €40.40. molt bé!
Stuart H — Google review
Great little place for Pintxos, grab some from the bar and save your sticks, $2 per stick it seemed, they also do a small selection of tapas you can order from a menu, great selection of nibbles.

Nestled in the heart of Catalonia, Casa Marieta Restaurant is a charming establishment that has been delighting diners since 1892. With its inviting ambiance characterized by wooden beams and stone walls, this upscale landmark offers a cozy setting to enjoy traditional Catalan cuisine. The menu features an array of homemade dishes that pay homage to local ingredients and time-honored recipes.
A pretty restaurant serves local dishes in a beautiful square. We were early in this area for lunch and enjoyed their best seats in terrace. Their food is well presented and full of local flavor at a reasonable price. Service is good. Beer is nice. The indoor decoration is in a traditional vibe. The entire dining experience here is very good. I must recommend this and visit again when in this lovely city Girona.

The paella is really good and not very expensive, about 14 euros per person. The wine is also good quality and reasonably priced, about 9 euros a bottle. Really pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is also very beautiful and historical to see inside, I recommend it very much!

Great food and service. It was lovely to taste authentic Catalan food. Would definitely recommend. It could just do with some music in the background.

While exploring this charming small city, our tour guide recommended a few local spots, and we decided to try this restaurant. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection, and the service was just as impressive—friendly, attentive, and professional. A wonderful dining experience all around!

Outstanding flavours and dishes - simply delicious- we chose the snails and the Suquet fish dish - outstanding and highly recommend if you love the warmth of garlic enriching the snails or the seafood dish. On the pricier side but soooo worth it
Nomiki G — Google review
We went to the place near closing time and it was the best paella we had in Spain and the entire meal was the best meal we had in our entire euro trip for 16 days spanning france, Amsterdam, Brussels and Spain. The paella has seafood on top and the rice had veggies and meat mixed which was delicious. The chocolate dessert was also amazing. Loved every bit of the meal 🙂. Service and atmosphere gave 4 stars because we were seated at the end near the kitchen whereas we could have got a better seat when most of the restaurant tables were available. Nevertheless our service lady was amazing and she deserves a thumbs up. And will remember this place for the food really. Dont miss this when in Girona!

It was absolutely divine! Granted, we had to wait 15 min before getting a table, but the menu is varied, the prices are decent and the food itself was fabulous (especially Traditional Roast), so it was totally worth it. Not to mention the wonderful Mirela, who was kind enough to wait on us in an extremely polite and attentive manner. Thank you for the amazing experience!

Very good traditional catalan dishes. Good value dishes. Good service. Mostly locals, very little tourists eating there. I loved the “fideuà” or “fideus a la cassola” with pork ribs meat and seafood; great flavours. The extra cold beer on tap served on a frozen glass is another must.

Ice cream shop
Rocambolesc Gelateria is a vibrant and whimsical ice cream and candy store located in the heart of Girona. Founded by the Roca brothers, who are also behind the renowned El Celler de Can Roca, this confectionary shop aims to bring the delightful desserts of their world-famous restaurant to a wider audience. The gelateria offers an array of ever-changing ice cream flavors such as caramelized baked apple, coconut and lavender, and cherry and lime sorbet.
best ice-cream in town! Loved it! Super smooth balanced taste, perfect cone - crunchy texture, great taste. I had cookie toppings, also perfect! Purrfection! Have no pic because it disappeared too quickly. Recommend!
Ieva L — Google review
I came in with pretty high expectations, which is probably why I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. At the time of my visit, there were just four flavors available. We tried baked apple and strawberry with maracuya. Don’t get me wrong—the ice cream was definitely enjoyable—but I was hoping for something a bit more exceptional. Pricing is fair: €4 for a standard cone and €4.90 if you want to add up to three toppings. They also offer topping suggestions that pair well with each flavor, which is a nice touch. They had some boxed ice cream options too, shaped creatively and with appealing flavor combos. I didn’t try those this time, but they might be worth checking out on a future visit.

Had Rocas ice-cream for the first time. Bought vanilla and chocolate jars. 4 people got sick right after eating it at home. Diarea and vomiting. I guess some one didn't clean the machines well enough after going to the toilet. Well it can happen. But what me surprised me more after the bathroom runs, when I threw out the ice-cream into the sink, it took a hood 2 minutes to dissolve with warm water. When I looked at the package, I got it. Make in March this year and good to eat for 7 months. So a bunch of E number ingredients were added to the ice-cream. As well as milk powder. Didn't expect that from a few big Michelin star chefs. Same stuff that Haagen dazs and other brands sell. Disappointed and my stomach still aches
Davy — Google review
When you are in Rome do what the Romans do. So we did. So I've heard about 3 brothers, one is owner of this gelateria, other has some michelin ⭐️restaurants and one is sommelier. I've had much better ice creams, not much to choose and if you respect your self and ice creams as a culture some of toppings are ridiculous (like some candies and marshmallows, cookies and blueberries (not the real from woods but bigger tasteless versions) To say something more about ice creams; 6 flavors, from the machine (Taylor or CARPIGIANI who knows, everything is covered in wallpaper). So, I eat icecream in Mexico- Heaven on earth, the best one in Firenze- when I feel down I think about it and feel better, but even one in Fontana di Trevi full of rude tourists and with "I Puffi " flavor is better. Even I cornetti are pretty bland. 3 stars bc none of us did have any stomach issues . And girl who works there is very nice.
Sanja P — Google review
Randomly came across this shop while roaming around Girona and got to know that it's pretty famous and the chef has a star too. Loved their unique flavours. Personally loved their coconut and violet gelato.
Abhishek T — Google review
First of all the ice cream was worth the wait, expect a long cue tho. Nothing special ice cream taste wise, but the toppings and the look of it is a 10/10. Sadly i have to give it 3/5 stars due to the insane terrible customer service. The lady was very slow, even tho the cue was long and more people kept coming. She kept checking in the mirror and didnt take it into consideration that everyone was waiting impatiently. People literally started leaving the cue. She approximately took 5min PER icecream and was also quite rude. Would never go again just based off this attitude. A complete no go when working as a person on a food counter.
Maja L — Google review
More like 3.5, as the chocolate was excellent. The sorbet was too sweet and all the sweet nonsense that they offer to add to the gelato makes the whole experience feel cheap. If you need a bunch of toppings added to the gelato, the gelato is probably not all that good to begin with. Reminds me of places in the US that only cater to children

This french restaurant features a vintage blue truck as its main attraction, with various marketing materials, often amusing billboards and seats that are like movie theater seats all inside a space that emulates an old car. The crepes here are very light and tasty - it's definitely worth checking out!
Nice crepes with buckwheat dough. Vegan and vegitarian options. Sweet crepes also extensive list.

Not sensational but good food. A crepe is more a snack than a full meal. City center prices. Very lovely staff. The restaurant inside is very beautiful.

I came super early, we were only two in the restaurant. The waiter took 10 mins to come to my table to take the order, I just don’t want to imagine when its full. Dishes were served quickly then, it was good — per my french standards — but then again had to this time call the waiter myself for the dessert, which I eventually didn’t ordered because I was triggered by the more than average service. It’s shame.

Great galettes and crêpes! (Galettes are made with buckwheat flour and savory, whereas crêpes are made with wheat flour and sweet.) Crêperie Bretonne is a small chain with origins in Britanny; they currently have one restaurant in France and four on Spain. The "Bergère" galette (with champignons, onion, goat cheese and bacon) is delicious. Cute interior decoration, referencing the restaurant's history. My only criticism is the spotty service.

Restaurant Mimolet offers a bright and wood-filled space where they serve contemporary dishes with global twists. The a la carte menu features an array of fish and seafood options along with choices for meat lovers. While the vegetarian options are limited, the restaurant is known for its artfully presented dishes made with high-quality ingredients.
Spectacular lunch. We chose a 5 course testing menu. Everything was really good, except the artichoke (a bit cardboard like taste, perhaps not in season yet?). Everything was beautifully presented and in sufficient quantities. Very pleasant ambience and great service too. No hesitation to recommend.

Amazing restaurant with great service, delicious and nicely presented food, great selection of local wines. We had the 5-course tasting menu and it was a fantastic experience. Their cocktails are impressive, for both the visual and the taste aspects. Highly recommended.

This was the best meal we had in Girona - just super quality - highly recommend the pickled oyster and any of the rice dishes. Wine was also incredible as you'd expect but the red by the glass was the best local wine I had!

1. Food. Beautiful presentation and high quality ingredients. Most of the dishes were delicious. Prawns ceviche was tasty. My favorite dish was squid tagliatelle with onion soup, it was incredible. I wasn’t impressed with tuna tataki, I felt like tuna was frozen before, i might be wrong , I didn’t like combination of Japanese fish broth and tomatoes. Lamb was extremely tender, melting in mouth, tasty creamy cheese, but for me this dish was a bit heavy and fatty. Absolutely delicious sheep cheesecake, loved the texture. 2. Service is polite and friendly, although there is a room for improvement. We didn’t enjoy when waiter picked up my husband’s plate and made fun of how clean the plate is and we felt like it was inappropriate, waiter made us feel uncomfortable. My husband ordered wine, but waiter didn’t ask if I want one and started pouring, may be I’m pregnant and I want only water, I was expecting that he will ask me first. Besides those things service was quick, dishes were served with a small time gap, every dish had a small presentation. 3. Space. It’s cozy inside, beautiful interior, nice warm light. Although our table was moving all the time, it was unstable, furniture might need some fixing. When we were leaving there was absolutely no staff in a dining area. We got dressed, but there was no one to say good bye to. We stayed for few minutes and just left since no one showed up. I would eat here again and try other dishes

Pretty astonishing. The experience started off very pleasant and understated and then the quality of the food and service just helped the meal to become an experience. We had the 5 course menu (with extra oysters)and all were on point. 3 bottles of excellent wines too.

Incredible experience, would love to go again. We had a 6 course surprise tasting menu for dinner where we had to guess the one ingredient that was present in every dish! The chef came out and spoke in both Catalan and English so all guests were included in his explanations. Really fast and friendly service and the food tasted incredible. Drinks were very reasonably priced and we really appreciated the local art that has been put up. Overall a great experience and I would thoroughly recommend visiting!

Julie B — Google review
Best meal and dining experience of my life as of yet. The dinner 7 course tasting menu is amazing value (36€), and each dish is magical: artfully crafted and masterfully made. It is obvious that much attention for detail and creativity went into each of their courses. Very unique how it is a “surprise” tasting experience, where the chef comes and explains the dish after you have eaten it. I found myself eating mindfully and with curiosity while trying to identify all the ingredients that went into the dishes. I usually try to reverse-engineer dishes while trying them to see how I can cook something similar at home, but here I was simply awestruck by the complexity, the sheer number of components to each dish, and all the ingredients involved. I also loved how most of the dishes were vegetarian/plant focused; really showed just how flavourful food can be without meat. It has a small interior dining area and feels like you are given more attention and care. They take into account any dietary restrictions as well. I now dream about the unique amalgamation of flavours I had experienced here. I could continue raving about this place but I must calm down. This was truly a culinary adventure.

But, you'll be rewarded with very intelligent way of cooking and serving your meal. The chef has thought of everything for you, and he's offering 6 different types of surprise menus. You only need to relax and trust his expertise to thoroughly enjoy every serving. Some are even misleading you, such as mushroom soup which is served like cappuccino in a cup. Can Roca, located in Girona, is a renowned restaurant founded by the parents of the acclaimed Roca brothers - Joan, Josep, and Jordi. The Michelin-starred establishment has been ranked as the best restaurant in the world on two occasions. Visitors can expect generous portions of Catalan cuisine with a focus on quality and flavor. While some patrons have noted that breakfast options are limited to sandwiches before 1pm, others have praised the delicious coffee.
It's the Roca Family doing traditional cheap and tasty Catalan classics in trad environment. In short we had 4 plates of food each of the card and 500ml of wine for 18euros each. The food was tasty and very generous portion size. Well worth a visit.

Highly recommend! We came for lunch and got a 3 course meal + wine for 17 euro. Food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and let us store our bikes in the courtyard while we ate.

We are completely confused. This restaurant is well-reviewed and the owner has published two cookbooks, so our group of 4 were all shocked to be served what could most accurately be described as hospital food. The starter salad was not fresh and not seasoned. The vegetable of the day was overcooked boiled potatoes and green beans with no seasoning. The soup of the day was as thick as glue, and again, under-seasoned. The fresh hake was deep fried and overcooked. The "steak" was a cheap cut, maybe 3mm thin, and looked like something that would be served at a prison. We sat at the restaurant looking at online photos from positive reviews, wondering if we had shown up on the chef's day off. We do not speak Catalan, but when our waitress came to clear our plates, and saw that we hadn't eaten some items, she made it clear that she understood why. We had a dozen items. The pork cheek was decent. The ice cream was fine. The crema was fine. Nothing else. This was easily the worst meal we had in a MONTH in Catalonia.

We spent a night in Girona during our 2 wks in Barcelona so that we could do the whole Roca experience. I had the one ⭐️ Michelin Esperit Roca booked for dinner so for lunch I wanted to try out the parent’s place and where the Roca Brothers honed their skills. Away from downtown and just past El Celler de Can Roca was a humble looking restaurant. The minute we sat down I noticed Josep Roca Junior dining with the senior Roca! 17€ for a 4-course meal with a bottle of wine! You can’t beat that. Meal was simple yet filling and other than the lamb dish that I had, I enjoyed the rest of the meal. Nothing to write home about but this was paying homage to the Roca parents and being able to see the wine chef Josep and his dad which meant a lot!

Tucked away on a quaint street near the cathedral, El Pati is a charming family-run restaurant with an eclectic atmosphere. The mismatched furniture, colorful tablecloths, and fairy lights create a bohemian vibe that's perfect for a relaxed dining experience. The reasonably priced set menu offers options like watermelon and mint gazpacho, jamon and figs on toast, and cannelloni with apple aioli, along with vegetarian and vegan choices.
I definitely recommend it! We had a LOVELY lunch here for such a good price, 19,50€ with wine included. The menu is small but the food was amazing, local, each dish was done really well, from the start to main, such good portions that we couldn’t eat desert... Great service as well! Restaurant L'Alqueria is a stylish eatery located in Girona, offering a variety of rice dishes including paellas and fideua. The restaurant's origins can be traced back to a small village on the Valencian coast, where the founder Marola developed her passion for cooking. The menu features around twenty gourmet paella options, five fideua dishes, and a dozen soupy rices alongside appetizers, meats, and fish.
Lovely place with formal efficient great service. Cracking authentic food of the region but if you are British don’t expect this to be like the stodgy stuff we get back home. It’s refined and proper and lovely. Tomato salad: get it! Incredible.

They refused to serve me and my wife. Told us that they only work under reservation, which is not what their site tells us. Beside the restaurant was half empty lasting about an hour to close, how was it fully booked? We were discriminate
Rafael C — Google review
We were basically not allowed into the restaurant when we did not have reservations and they are "fully booked". The restaurant was not even half full. Similar to the review from 3 weeks ago, we sensed the eyes and tone of discrimination from the lady. Do not recommend, there are better restaurants around Girona. Edit: in response to owner, the eyes of your staff and the amount of people inside with just less than 2 hrs of closing do not lie. We've been to several very busy restaurants in Europe that are fully booked and they would still try to accommodate us in any way possible, not just straight up reject - basically it does not make sense. I think this in itself says something. Thank you. Edit2: I'm not sure why there's so much defensiveness about this if you believe you did nothing wrong. I am just stating what I've seen and informing others what I've experienced. Like I said earlier, I am also not the only one that have experienced this similar situation. Whether other customers believe what we say and come to your restaurant or not is up to them, neither of us can control that. That is what reviews are all about. Respecting reservations and keeping professionalism that way is a good thing, other restaurants do it too and I am not saying that its bad. Each restaurant run differently and we as customers have little to no say in how you operate. Thanks for the quick response.

Service was unbelievably bad. If I could give zero stars, I would. Lady was so unenthusiastic and hard to get hold of (nobody attended our table for 15 minutes despite multiple attempts to get their attention). It might be the worst service my wife and I have had in the last 10 years. We asked for bread, which didn’t arrive for 30 minutes until we reminded her and then she brings two small slices for two people. Being polite and assuming they had ran out (why else serve such pitiful portions), we didn’t ask for more. Turns out it’s 2.7e each and we should know to ask for more. Hard to put into words the general uncomfortable feeling of disdain we felt, although I have seen another reviewer who felt similarly so we aren’t alone. Food was pretty poor. Paella was burnt (I know what good paella is, and how it should be sticky/brown, but this was turned into carbon..). I suspect we were just unlucky near the end of service as other portions looked better.
J C — Google review
Best paella ever and my favourite restaurant in Spain. I have been to Spain a couple of times and had great paellas before. Yet L’Alqueria is special. Not only do they cook with ingredients so fresh that you can taste it, but they cook the rice so perfectly that they are not only slightly burnt for flavours and texture but at the same time moist, almost creamy in the interior of the grains. We had the seafood paella and black paella. The seafood paella is bursting with deep shrimp flavours and you can smell the umami even before having the first bite. In contrast to the savoury umami of the seafood paella, they cook the black paella with scallion roots which pairs wonderfully with the fresh squid for maximum natural sweetness. Pure genius. We also ordered the beef fillet, iberico ham and a bottle of red wine recommended by the waitress. Everything is priced so reasonably that I can feel the owner of the restaurant is truly hoping their customers are able enjoy good food and wine freely. I made the reservation via WhatsApp and got prompt and friendly response. The team also shows professionalism and passion for food when I asked for food and wine recommendations upon arriving the restaurant. I read a few negative reviews saying that they discriminate certain customers. As an Asian, I feel no discrimination but only love and respect for their food. The team deserves to be proud of what they are doing - serving the best paellas and letting people from around the world know how good paellas can be. Visit L’Alqueria and I believe you will feel just the same as I do. :) (Remember to make a reservation!)

One day in Girona/Spain so a pealla is a must and oh boy they did not disappoint. Had a great pealla in a pan on the table for the family to enjoy. Steak tartare was also great, the quality of meat was perfect. Fried cot and ansjovis as starters where also pretty good.

The menu features reasonably priced items, with main courses ranging from 8 to 14 euros and desserts under 5 euros. The restaurant boasts a well-curated wine selection at affordable prices. Situated near the Stone Bridge, Vintages is highly recommended for its excellent combination of food and wine.
We have been to many nice restaurants in our two week stay in Spain and this was by far our favorite. The food tasted fresh and was delicious. They had a tomato salad that had many different types of organic tomatoes that were beautiful and tasty. We were also very well treated along with our baby. Would highly recommend this place.

Amazing restaurant. The team was super attentive and the recommendations were great. Wine list was perfect and the food was very tasty. Favourite dish was the beef cheek cannelloni.

We were visiting from the city of Barcelona, and we would make the visit all the way to Girona for this dinner again. This restaurant was such a delight to have dined at! Not only were the wait staff lovely, the food was mouth watering. The duck in red wine sauce was cooked to perfection and my partners pork dish melt in your mouth. The mussels were also so lovely we had to dip some bread into the sauce! Delightful, thank you to everyone at Vintages for the wonderful dining experience. We will be back!

Amazing experience: we were visiting Girona and looking for something local/special for dinner. My partner stumbled upon this small, very unique restaurant and made the reservations for that night. We knew it was going to be good as the owner seemed quirky and had a sense of humour…. We were there by 8pm and excited. The place didn’t disappoint. The service was great. The Owner was fantastic in the service. I ordered octopus and my partner ordered steak. The best octopus I have had so far. The seasonal salad was amazing. The dessert and drinks were perfect. Thank you VINTAGES for a memorable evening.

Stumbled upon this charming little restaurant in the heart of old town Girona. The food was AMAZING and the proprietor was so informative about the food and wine (he spoke perfect English). The wine list is *very* extensive with good wines from the region. We highly recommend this quaint little place.

A fantastic place to go to if you like fantastic food and a great selection of wines. A must go in Girona, where you can have a relaxed dinner from a chef who's clearly passionate about the food. We had a starter from the menu, two of the off-menu daily dishes and two desserts and I can't recommend it enough.

Pizza restaurant
The Italian restaurant La Tagliatella has a quick, friendly service and offers some interesting pastas. Some people were not impressed with the pasta, but found the pizza to be very good.
We went to the Dali museum and this restaurant was recommended as being the best in town. It sure was conveniently located so we gave it a try. Service was great, attentive without being overbearing. Space was decorated cute. Food was fresh, delicious, and did not disappoint. The salad has a great mix of greens and they did not skimp on the seafood, fresh, tasty, and plentiful. J said this was the best pizza she ever ate. The rest of us thoroughly enjoyed our paired pasta with sauce of our choice. Everything was delicious! There is a parking garage across the street. Meals were large that I now have a midnight snack or lunch tomorrow. Our to go bags are even cute!
Julia P — Google review
First of all, the food was pretty average. The pasta, in my opinion, was a little undercooked and hard. The majority of the flavour came from the tomato sauce and salt; couldn't really tell there were other ingredients aside form the texture. The staff were helpful, but not exactly friendly. No one smiled, the waitress tending to my table seemed grumpy or fed up. They took my order and swiftly left without a thank you, a smile, or anything, I felt a bit off. The restaurant itself though has a nice atmosphere, as in, there's a nice aesthetic to the decor and layout but not much else. Overall, I'd rather have gone to a smaller and more local pasta place, I would have got more authentic tasting food and friendlier service.
Musharraf — Google review
The entire experience was amazing. The food was really good, but the sauce/pasta tasted a bit too sweet for some reason. I ordered their new pasta with truffle, some other things and served in a pizza dough. My other family members ordered a pizza margarita and their new “pie” pasta (I don’t remember the name of it). The service at the beginning was quite slow, but I think that’s due to the fact it was very busy that day. In general it’s a pleasant experience, definitely worth a try if you want to try some delicious Italian food.
Karina : — Google review
After a busy day and evening we had a verily late dinner and La Tagliatella was open and busy. It is a large restaurant- though it looks small from the outside, in Girona. The service is excellent. We ordered the pepperoni pizza which was excellent . The crust is thin and flaky and the cheese is exquisite.
SD R — Google review
We liked the pizza very much, but we did not like the pasta. It smelled like uncooked eggs. sangria was nice. tortellini was also nice. The venue did not allow dogs inside. We had to sit outside and the ambience was not nice either.
İzel — Google review
The service is fast and efficient, but the food could be greatly improved. I did expect the carbonara to be the American style carbonara with cream and bacon as opposed to the authentic Italian carbonara, but was not expecting an insipid milk soup with tasteless bacon bits.

High end Japanese restaurant. Great menu midweek for 25€ (starter + main + dessert + tea or water + coffee). Would be great if wine or beer were included in the menu, but they aren’t. Some of the staff were great, but one hostess was either having a bad day or much less friendly. The quality of the sushi and food was fantastic. Portions were of perfect size. Interestingly they do not have any vegan milk options for coffee (simple improvement to add some). Recommendable overall!!

Excellent little coffee shop in ‘old town’ Girona. Very popular with cyclists. Coffee was excellent! One of the best we have had on this trip - in fact, the first time we went we both ordered a second coffee as the first was so good. I also tried my first Catalan pastry here, a xiochu, which was so delicious it was the first of many! Service and presentation was also great and the cards they give you with Catalan phrases is a really nice touch.

One of the best coffee shops I’ve ever visited. The service was warm and genuine, the coffee was excellent, and the space itself felt calm and comfortable. I couldn’t help but smile when I received my coffee. It arrived with a printed note: a thoughtful phrase in Catalan on one side and a piece of philosophy on the other. A beautiful touch that perfectly captured the spirit of the place.

Probably the best specialty coffee shop in Girona. Located in old town. One recommendation, they should write the date of roasting on their bags. Without it, you can’t know if the optimal periode is over. 12€ for 250gr.

A restaurant worth the wait! I’ve arrived at the restaurant at 1200 but the kitchen opens at 1300. The waiters are polite, patient and willing to communicate with me with their limited English. The food served here is undoubtably delicious! Had a chocolate croissant; it’s crispy on the outside and soft in the inside and overall not too sweet. Strawberry salad with goat cheese is also applaudable, it’s very refreshing! My main dish was bbq pork ribs, the meat is very tender and the potatoes are well seasoned. Finally, on to the dessert; the cheese cake with berries, has a very rich cheese flavour. Overall, the service, the gourmets and the atmosphere is very recommended!

Amazing dining experiences are still possible, and this time we came across one whist passing through Girona Arriving quite late for lunch, close to 14h45 we were still welcomed with open arms, and seated at one of the only 12 tables. Quite a warm interior design with proper lighting and loungy background music The restaurant manager (owner?) explained the menu to us (at that time there wasn't a printed menu and not needed either) and from the three course menu we selected the white large beans with sausage, a creamy soup, followed by leg of rabbit and slow cooked lamb and finished off with a cheese cake and creme brulee The food was served in a timely manner, with for each serving the food explained again, which was quite remarkable The food was exquisite and well presented and it explained why this venue was still packed when we entered it for a late lunch Even more amazing was the bill, which was only Euro 28 for two three course menus, beer and wine as well as two coffee Definitely a venue where we will return and highly recommended for those after a local cuisine culinary experience at an amazing value for money

Cal Ros is a charming restaurant located in the Barri Vell of Girona, offering refined Spanish cuisine in a rustic-chic setting with stone walls and wooden beams. Situated on Carrer de la Cort Reial 9, under the Roses arches, this establishment has a rich history as it was previously an inn and a meeting place for merchants and traders. In August 2017, the restaurant came under new management led by young chef Marc Fiol.
We happened upon this traditional Catalan restaurant in Girona. There are no menus in English so it took us some time to order. All the dishes are small shareable and you are advised to order 2-3 per person. Everything we ordered was good and we enjoyed this little spot. I should have taken pictures of the food as it came out, but I kept forgetting.

We came for lunch and got the 3 course menu with wine. We felt some of the dishes were overly rich but overall the dishes were good. The duck we had was fantastic and was complemented well with a apple pure with fruits and vegetables. The desserts were also great and we would recommend the souffle.

Good food, really.poor service. Put into the back round with the only other English couple, served last, took 30/40 minutes to take an order (half full restaurant), 1 of 5 dishes missed when serving, when receiving the bill it took 15-20 minutes to get the card machine.

The croquettes and the bread were really good… however, the main dishes were a disaster. The veal was not edible and had to be returned, the fish was not nice either and the lamb chops were tiiiny… really think that it is overpriced but perhaps the small starters are a good option instead.

The best tapas we’ve had in Girona. The place was not nearly as busy as other restaurants but that will change soon. The homemade cheesecake is absolutely incredible.
Brian H — Google review
The food was excellent — clearly the chefs know what they’re doing. But the service was absolutely unacceptable and ruined the entire evening. One of the waitresses was visibly high, barely able to function or speak coherently. Another woman who was serving dishes reeked of alcohol, which was shocking in a professional setting. Even worse, a man who seemed to be part of the staff was loudly joking and laughing like he was in a bar, not a restaurant, disturbing every single table around. It felt chaotic, unprofessional, and honestly a bit unsafe. This is not just bad service — it’s a serious management issue. Until that team is completely changed or properly supervised, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Café Savoy, established in the 1930s, was a favored gathering spot for the upper middle class and renowned Spanish artists and writers. So I stayed at the Peninsular Hotel and Savoy was their "local lunch" location. I was alone that day so I thought about trying the daily menu (since its closed at dinner, could only eat there during the day, wich is strange). I entered the restaurant and asked a place for 1 person; the lady who attended me looked around and seemed not to care really where I decided to seat, since there were so many free seats. I sat next to hotel inner exit, a table with room for 4, yes, but then again, I asked where could I seat before. Not 2 seconds later when I still had my bag on my hand, another lady comes by me, asks me: 1. What was I doing there 2. If I was to lunch and if I was alone. I said I was alone for lunch, and she points me to another table. So ok, I changed table. Then, I asked the menu with beef and potatoes. For a high-level restaurant such as Savoy, I was expecting better. The beef was dull and the fried potatoes a bit normal and nothing special on them. If not for the sauce, I would have not eaten so much. The dessert, was a small apple crumble that was not bad at all, but was just too tiny. Overall, I spent 14€ in a meal that did not compensate the money. For 10€, one can eat better elsewhere and still have a better service and employees talking to us with some degree of respect.

Mercat del Lleó is a traditional indoor/outdoor market in Girona, offering a glimpse into the local diet and culture. It's located near Placa de Catalunya and features numerous stalls selling fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, fish, olives, and more. This market provides an authentic experience away from touristy areas and is ideal for picking up supplies for a picnic lunch. Visitors can find fresh produce, baked goods, quick bites, and even options for vegetarians.
Fresh friendly people. The real Spain. We bought food to cook and was delicious. We recommend the fresh pasta.
Henry G — Google review
Highly recommended for buying local specialties, it is full of people from the city doing their shopping. There are butcher shops with small kiosks that have their own production of salami and other cured meats. They also have the option of slicing Iberian ham or salami and sealing it in vacuum-sealed bags so it can be transported to the airport.
Pasquale F — Google review
A really nice local market with fresh produce. Vegetable stalls are mostly on the outside of the market, and the rest of the stalls selling meats, seafood, bread, and cheese are located inside. The price is really cheap compared to supermarkets for food that is so fresh. There is a small Cafe at the side of the main entrance. We bought some really nice olives at 1.40 euros for 200g, and a piece of aged tuna for 10 euros. The market is just a 3 minute walk from our apartment, so we'll be going back to get some Jamon for sure.
Ivan L — Google review
Interesting market with all kinds of meats, fish, fruits, vegetables and many other types of food products. Everything looked great. If you are looking for fresh produce or just to look around at the amazing quantity and quality of FOOD, this is the place to visit.
Fearocious — Google review
Mercat del Lleo is a small traditional indoor market in Girona. It's a bit out of the way from the old town city centre, as well as the main attractions in the city. Thought I'd stop by to see if there was any interesting local produce. There's a good range of fresh fruits and veg, baked goods, quick bites. Even vegetarians would be able to find something decent food to eat. Nice market and feels more authentic that one aimed at tourists, but I wouldn't go out of the way though.
Macedonboy — Google review
Although smaller than markets in Barcelona, it make up for its size by quality and well priced shops. The cafe in the market is a great place for breakfast
Brendan D — Google review
I love this market. Everything is fresh. From meats to fruits. I wish I can cook with these fresh ingredients while travelling. If you can do, definitely do it.
Danial K — Google review
One of the best local food markets in Girona. They have everything from fruits, vegetables to more specific products. Everyone is nice and helpful, and it’s amazing to start the weekend here to browse around.

Casamoner is a popular bakery with several sister locations in town. They specialize in organic, artisanal breads and offer a variety of cakes, tarts, quiches, and savory cocas. The place also serves well-made traditional Spanish food for lunch. Customers praise the fresh and tasty flavors of the food and appreciate the reasonable prices.
Very delicious! The Xuxo with Crema Catalan was the best. The one with whipped cream was also nice, but the one with berries was a bit less flavorful. The organic drinks were a nice add-on and tasted great.

I had the cream puff but wouldn’t recommend it. 2.20 Euro each.

Even though it was under construction the place ran very smoothly and the food….AMAZING!!!! The xuxos (tye traditional girona pastry) are very delicious i had the traditional crema one and i also had a pistachio croissant (i liked the photo below) it was delicious
Isabela N — Google review
This bakery, pastry shop, and bistro is very convenient. There is a small indoor seating area where customers can enjoy their purchased food and drinks. The toilets are clean and free to use. We tried the focaccia, cheese rolls, tiramisu, and red velvet cake, all of which were delicious. The establishment also offers take-away options and serves freshly brewed coffee. The service is good and the staff are kind and attentive.
Jiri K — Google review
Great coffee quality but we wanted to try famous xiuxos, they were not fresh and not delicious as I expected. Bathroom was a disaster.
Elham G — Google review
Our guide at Free Girona Walking Tour recommended xuixos and even though I don't really eat sweet stuff, we decided to try and bought an original and an orange one to try. The original feels like a donut with custard cream and it was not too bad. The orange one with chocolate drizzle was a little more unique and tasted better. Coffee was not bad too.
Marie T — Google review
Xuixos are amazing... the most fresh, lightest, fluffiest cream ever... had to go in to buy more for the road.. very good coffee. Sandwiches were really tasty as well
Buğu T — Google review
We stopped by Casamoner while exploring Girona for a day. They have a lot of different xuixo flavors and we tried a traditional crema xuixo. The pastry didn't seem very well filled. It was a lot of air in the middle. Overall, we thought that xuixo was OK.

Cúrcuma is a charming tapas restaurant located near Girona Town Hall, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere to enjoy classic Catalan cuisine and local wines. The menu features traditional dishes like pa amb tomaquet, patatas bravas, crispy croquettes, mushroom cannelloni, confit duck dumplings, and baby squid with soy vinaigrette. Guests can end their meal with the signature homemade cheesecake paired with a local dessert wine or a mini gin and tonic.
We went for lunch and enjoyed every dish! I definitely recommend this place, the food is very tasty, they preserve the flavors and use good products. They also have vegetarian options. Good wine. Great atmosphere. Good price. Centric.

Lovely restaurant, tucked away in a small lane but well worth it when you find it. Fantastic tapas with a different twist to the usual tapas, great wine too. Really friendly & helpful staff. Highly recommend this restaurant with a great ambience.
Helen B — Google review
The food is good, done properly, but lacks an intense flavor, which drives you to order the same dish a second and third time or that forces you to remember that dish for two or three days (how it should be); there is a lot of education in food but also a lot of shyness in the flavors. Cute restaurant. Clean bathrooms. Excellent customer service.
Mirko — Google review
Had an amazing lunch here! It’s a little hard to find and at least on a quiet weekday in January seemed like it was closed. My favorite thing was the duck dumpling with poma pruna and it was so heavenly I ordered more. Also got canelo, txipironets, magret tximitxurri, espatlla xai ginebro poma, and the mother’s cheesecake. Marc was such a nice server and our entire lunch with wine was less than €40. Amazing value for a charming lunch.
Shaye — Google review
Very good food, nice and friendly staff. Portions teeny weeny, though! Maybe not ideal if you're famished but ideal if you want a nice chat over a bottle of wine.
Craig T — Google review
Great place with super friendly staff and owner. Superb tasting menu at 25 Euros is highly recommended. Also three course lunch for 10 Euros is a bargain. Really a must go

Enjoyed my first visit. No doubt what is on the menu. Grilled meat and plenty of it. Mind you we shared a plate of grilled vegtables and they were good too.
