Stunning waterfront spot in Halifax with a beautiful ambiance. The seafood was top-tier — our seafood stew was full of flavour, the oysters crisp and fresh, the salmon tender and cooked just right. Service was beyond good; Costa was attentive and the whole team came across friendly and professional. The wine list deserves mention: a nice selection, well matched to the seafood. On the flip side: it isn’t cheap, but you do get what you pay for. It has a bit of a “tourist destination” feel, and the interior can get lively (and loud) in peak times; if you want a more relaxed meal, consider an earlier slot. Dessert: the butterscotch cake was rich and a bit too sweet for my taste. The Greenhorn cocktail was a strong pour — good but didn’t quite hit the flavour mark for me. Overall: Highly recommended for a special dinner, celebration or when you want scenic dining with good food and fine service in Halifax.

I had wonderful experience here along with my wife. We came without reservation to celebrate our anniversary, and we received a nice service. We sat down outside around 6pm so we would be able to enjoy the sunset. We got jumbo shrimps with garlic for entries and they were delicious and a couple of glasses of wine After that we tried the Spaghetti with Fruti di Mari and the Diavola. We loved so much the food and specially the service. In the end we ordered a dessert and they put a lovely message to make the ocassion more special.

Our favourite place to eat in Halifax. Staff are so well trained and friendly it’s refreshing. But the cuisine…wow! What a dining experience. I can’t believe they can serve so many people at the same time and yet we feel like one chef in the back personally prepared my plate. Everything was perfect, nothing over cooked and presented as if they had nothing else on the go. We loved the scallops and the halibut! The deserts are all homemade but the pistachio gelato is something you need to try even if you think you’re too full, try it anyway. Right on the pier as well so you can walk right after.

The food we had was faultless! It was delicious, beautifully presented, and the wait staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful. No wonder this restaurant is a hit! It was my daughter's birthday vacation and they surprised her with a sundae brought out in a tall glass, on a plate with Happy Birthday written on it. See, it's the small things that count!! lol It's a good thing I don't live in Halifax, because I'd be at this restaurant far too often!! Well done, Bicycle Thief!

We had been recommended this place by a number of people and had tried to get a table the first time we were in Halifax but couldn't make it work. We were heading back through a ND thought we would try again and made it work and am so glad we did. The service was perfect and our server was delightful. I really appreciated that she asked about allergies and issues from the outset as many places do not cater and we have someone in our family that has a lot of difficulty due to allergies. The space was well set up and felt intimate while also being quite open. We ordered a few appetizers to share and out mains and the food was all excellent. Had the tuna tartare and would highly recommend. Would definitely recommend a reservation but it is worth the wait.

Located just outside the waterfront, reservations are recommended or you would sit at the bar. Nevertheless, the food was amazing! I had the seafood cioppino and it was loaded with seafood, the bread it came with was great too! Pasta and calamari were also delicious. They also gave us their homemade foccacia and while it was good, it would been even better if it was warmed. Definitely a worthy spot to check out in Halifax.

Took my family here for dinner. The service was great. The food was ok. We started with an octopus appetizer and the flavour was just ok. It was nothing to race about. My partner ordered a risotto with scallop. The risotto was too aldente. My daughter ordered a crab tortellini and it was also too aldente. The sauce was terrific. Had a great taste of lemon. I had Linguine Fra Diavolo Sautéed Jumbo Shrimp. My pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce I thought was not spicy enough.

Amazing experience! Food was delicious, I left super full. The drinks were really good, mine was a little small for the price. The server was funny. We had a spot in the sun on the patio. Had to park way down the road, that’s the worst part. It was a great evening. This spot was recommended to me. I would definitely go back.

We had the Snow Crab Dip and Lobster Pasta, and both dishes were amazingly delicious! The service was top-notch, and the lady who served us was so kind and friendly — she greeted us with a smile every time and truly made my day better. Unfortunately, I forgot her name, but she made our visit extra special. It was a superb experience overall, and we’ll definitely be coming back! 🦀🍝💙

Great place with friendly staff and outstanding seafood dishes. I had the seared haddock with hodge podge, and the mussels with fries — both were simply amazing. The staff were attentive and welcoming throughout my visit. I was tempted to try their “Crobster Roll,” but decided not to, as it’s a mix of lobster and crab sold at the same price as a traditional lobster roll — which felt a bit misleading to me. Also, note that their menu changes depending on the time of day, so some of the signature dinner dishes aren’t available during brunch. Despite those minor issues, I had a really nice experience overall and would definitely recommend this place!

This place was recommended to us by friends in Halifax and wow are we glad we went. Our waiter Sheldon obviously enjoyed working there and gave excellent service and recommended other places in the area as well. The other waitresses and bus staff helped each other out with ease and without being asked, and also seemed to enjoy working there. Food came out of the kitchen quicker than I expected after ordering and was hot and arguably the best restaurant food I’ve had. I am always a fry dipper in ketchup but these fries were ruined by the ketchup, they are so good on their own. My burger was large and fresh and obviously real meat with such a delicious pairing of sauces and flavours. My husband’s steak was cooked to perfection and tasted so fresh and beefy, and the roasted broccoli had the most perfect crispy florets and seasoning. The atmosphere on the patio was quietly lively and felt private at our table at the same time. If you are in Dartmouth/Halifax this place is a must.

This spot was recommended to me by a friend and it definitely did not disappoint! A spot for great NS seafood. The crobster roll was loaded with NS snow crab and lobster! I loved the canteen chowder and it was full of seafood and haddock. Such a fun and delicious spot in Dartmouth!

Enjoyed the famous crobster roll and it was delicious. The crab and lobster go very well together especially with the truffle aioli, grainy mustard and dill which packs a lot of flavour. I savoured every bite but ate it so fast I almost forgot how good it was. Would love to go back again.

Went there today with 5 friends. We ordered Haddock burgers with fries and 2 friends had the special which was an open face beef sandwich with mushrooms and cheese. We all enjoyed our meal and agreed that the bun didn’t really work with the haddock. It was a bit soggy at the end. The fish was excellent and I ate mine without the bun. For dessert I ordered the Pavlova since it’s my favourite and I’ve never seen it on a menu. Delicious. Did not disappoint. Another lady ordered the carrot cake as it’s her favourite. (Not the first time here for her). When I visit Dartmouth again, I will definitely stop in again.

One of my favorite meals of all time. Everything was excellent, from the service to the drinks to the food to the atmosphere. From the moment you walk in you can tell this place is a cut above others in the city. We ordered 2 smaller plates, 2 medium, 2 pasta dishes, drinks, and dessert. It all came out to about 215 dollars, which is great value given the quality. The highlights for me were the romaine salad and the cherry tomato dish - unbelievable ingredient quality. 5/5, 10/10, best in the biz.

We came here for dinner for two and had a really nice overall experience. The food was fresh, well-presented, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Each dish felt balanced and thoughtfully prepared. Our favorite was the cod with chanterelles and the carrots with crab — a great mix of flavors and textures. The ahi tuna tartare was good too, though not quite as memorable as the other dishes. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the meal. The drinks were excellent — complex, well-crafted, and full of flavor. The Heat Check was fruity and refreshing, while the Coronation and Tuckamore were a bit heavier but still very enjoyable. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. It’s a small, busy spot, so making a reservation is a good idea. Prices are on the higher side and portions aren’t very large, but the quality makes it worthwhile. If you’re quite hungry, it’s best to order a few dishes to share. Overall, Bar Kismet offers great dining experience — fresh food, great drinks, and warm, attentive service. We’d be happy to come back.

I visited Bar Kismet last month and had another wonderful experience. I’ve also dined here in September 2021 and 2022, always enjoying the cozy patio, a variety of creative dishes, and great conversations with the staff. This time, I sat at the bar and was once again blown away—the food, ambiance, and especially the team were exceptional. It’s clear the staff love working here, and that energy shines through in every interaction. Even though it’s a seven-hour drive from Bar Harbor, Maine, I always make it a point to come back—and I absolutely will again on my next trip in late September. Bar Kismet is hands down my favorite restaurant in Atlantic Canada, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Lots of greenery that created a charming lightly forested vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. From the menu the main highlight was the tonnato melt that was very flavourful, the other dishes were more average but still tasty. Menu here changes from time to time. Reservations highly recommended, slots are only open for a few weeks in advance.

Yasemin is the bomb.com and Bar Kismet is amazing! Everything we ate was so good, the Tuna Tartar lives up to the hype. So freaking yummy, the best restaurant in Halifax for a reason. If you have the opportunity to go, you gotta do it, 10/10 cant wait to come back

THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. I had a very delicious birthday dinner here and the service, although slow to serve at times, it was overall friendly and welcoming. My favourite part of the restaurant was how nicely decorated it was with variety of different plants. The dim lightning created a nice, chill ambiance. I highly recommend the black cod as a main dish, the morels absorbed most of the butter that was used to cook this dish and it complimented the subtleness of the fish very well. All the seafood dishes were a hit for me and my spouse.

Tuna tartare was the best I've had, and I've had many. The char was a solid choice if you like nutty sauces and Bok Choy. Raw scallop was nice. The Seabuckthorn cocktail was smooth and fruity. The meringue dessert was a bit disappointing. The solid meringue wafer makes it difficult to eat in a small cup, would be better if it was smaller pieces. It was also just not that interesting compared to the rest of the meal. Service was friendly and helpful for wine recommendations for my dishes. Retro music was great for the vibe.

After returning to the Press Gang for the first time in over 15 years, we were excited to relive our fond memories of the "The Drill" tasting menu. This time, we opted for a la carte, starting with oysters and a main course. The oysters, at $3.75 each, were more expensive than we've seen in Toronto. We ordered 16, which were just okay. We also found it odd that we weren't offered bread, and the amount of lemon provided was stingy. The by-the-glass wine selection was quite limited. For our mains, we ordered the halibut and the tenderloin, both of which were overcooked despite our request for medium. While the ambiance was as wonderful as we remembered, the service was inconsistent—at times overly attentive and at others, completely absent. Overall, we were a little disappointed. We spent 300$ for 2 ...👎💲💲💲

The Press Gang Restaurant & Oyster Bar made for a perfect Halifax night out. Tucked into a historic stone cellar, it feels warm and intimate the moment you walk in. We started at the oyster bar—sparkling-fresh East Coast oysters with classic mignonette and a squeeze of lemon—then moved on to beautifully executed mains (think buttery lobster and a perfectly cooked steak). Cocktails were balanced, service was attentive without hovering, and the pacing let us linger and enjoy. It’s a special-occasion spot that still feels relaxed and welcoming. Pro tip: book ahead and arrive a little early to grab a seat at the oyster bar before dinner.

Dined solo at the bar. Sampled a dozen oysters and they were fantastic. Fresh, briny, sweet and tender. Also had the Seafood Risotto which was excellent. The seafood is placed on top of the risotto so it’s cooked fresh and retains its flavor and texture. Both bar tenders were wonderful. Could not ask for a better meal. Will bring my wife next time I’m in Halifax.

Food is not bad, just too much butter and cream for my taste. Price is high for what you get. Service was good, although the mains took longer than expected to come out. Uniquely designed restaurant in a historic building.

I had an amazing dinner at this restaurant and bar! I ordered the lobster, jumbo shrimp, and scallop risotto, it was absolutely DELICIIIOUUUS and you could really taste the freshness of the seafood. They also have a great and varied menu, plus an oyster bar that looked fantastic. The barmaid was super friendly and attentive, I told her the type of alcohol I liked and a bit about my taste, and she took care of the rest. The drink she made was a real delight 👌 Definitely a place I’d recommend and would love to come back to!

Absolutely highly recommend this restaurant. Staff was extremely attentive. Very knowledgeable on the whole menu. Including drink selections. The chowder was absolutely delicious. I had the Tide and Stride. The steak was absolutely perfectly seasoned and cooked. The bacon wrapped, lobster stuffed scallops were absolutely to die for. It will definitely be a staple for every time i come back to Halifax.

Made a last minute reservation and was pleasantly surprised! Our menu selection was fresh oysters, seafood risotto and steak & scallops. A nice selection of local wines as well.

Do yourself a favour and take a step inside. This place looks very unassuming from the outside, to the point that it’s nearly hidden, but it’s well worth your time. First off, the service was top notch. Everything was perfect. I mentioned in my reservation we were coming for a birthday and new job celebration, having asked for nothing more than a candle or something small like that. The staff went well beyond my expectations in many ways. Our server (Oliver?) was an absolute gem as was everyone else. The service was pleasant all around. The food was top notch as well! Phenomenal cocktails, I’ll definitely be coming back to have a taste of the rest of it :)

Exquisite! Gio is a pinnacle of fine dining in Halifax. If you are looking for a magical evening (where cuisine, service, and atmosphere come together in perfect harmony), this is THE place. We choose Gio as our fancy/splurge restaurant for our 25th anniversary while traveling through Halifax, and it did not disappoint! Our server, Molly, was exceptional. She was friendly and fun without being overbearing and gave us wonderful feedback and recommendations on the menu. The ambiance was beautiful with the perfect lighting. We shared the asparagus appetizer - delicious! For entrees, I had the pork chop with mashed potatoes and stone fruit mustardo which was very good - I loved the sauce so much! My husband had the vegan dish of bulger and veggies which was surprisingly elevated, beautiful, and tasty. We shared two of the desserts, both of which were fabulous - they even wrote "Happy Anniversary" on the plates in chocolate. We would definitely return!

Oscar is one of the best and most professional waiters I’ve ever encountered. The atmosphere was lively without being too loud, and the food was excellent—especially the dessert. Overall, a fantastic experience

Recently visited here for my birthday, spoke to some folks before hand about accommodating our dietary restrictions (vegan and gluten free). They were lovely and thoughtful, the chef seemed more than happy to create some ideas off menu to ensure our needs were met. The food was delicious and service was attentive. Would definitely visit again. It is so hard to find upscale vegan dining in Nova Scotia, and that much harder for gluten free so this was really special. Would definitely recommend. ♥️

My partner recently took me to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and let me just say.. they DID NOT disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff and our waiter, Oscar. Oscar was friendly and very professional. He did a phenomenal job explaining each item on the menu and making suggestions. It was clear that Oscar is a foodie and passionate about food and the pairings. He made it his mission to ensure we had an amazing dinner. He was meticulous in pairing our meals with the perfect wine and even took the time to explain why he recommended each dish or wine pairing. He asked the right questions to make the perfect recommendations and he was warm and welcoming the entire night. We were even wowed to find out that not only was he our waiter, but he also doubled as the bartender making the most amazing, delicious and refreshing cocktails. If I had a business of my own, Gios would be in a tough spot because I would hired Oscar in the spot lol. The food was amazing. Literally everything we had was 10/10. The appetizers were delicious.. to the point that some dishes like the snapper left us eager for more! We ordered almost a little of everything but my favorites were the parpadelle pasta, the wild boar and red fish. I absolutely loved the flavors in the pasta and the pesto was amazing. The boar was perfectly cooked and the portion was perfect and quite filling. The fish was well seasoned and absolutely delicious. I will absolutely be back to Gio because I have that burger on my mind and I’m yearning for more. Thank you for an amazing dinner & special thanks to Oscar for being the most amazing waiter I have ever experienced. It’s clear you are passionate, love food and take the time to learn and understand the menu in depth. The restaurant is absolutely lucky to have you on their team!!!

Wife and I ate dinner here last night and it was the best meal of our lives We started with oysters, mixed green salad with nuts and goat cheese and a beet medley. My main was the Cornish hen - it Was cooked a perfection with a sticky coding making the outer skin delicious sauce over top to dip was incredible. She had the strip loin with barley. The steak was charred to perfection cut in the centre and serve so you can see your choice of crookedness. It was accompanied with a short rib, croquette, and the barley was also delicious. Even the coffee was picture worthy this place is top shelf atmosphere was great. Service was great. Five star for sure.

We visited The Highwayman for a double date with friends visiting from Montreal, and it was the perfect spot to catch up and enjoy a night out. Our server, Rob, was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the evening. The food came out quickly and everything we tried was delicious. The mushrooms were my personal favourite—definitely a must-have for any mushroom lover. While the desserts were good, the savoury dishes were definitely the highlight of the meal. It is on the pricier side, but I felt it was well worth it for the quality, service, and experience.

I love this place. I went for drink and tapas which is their specialty. I tried martini which was good and two different tapas. One was the potato which is so delicious. The sauce is creamy and full of flavor. I also tried sourdough bread with tomato which is good but it’s something really simple and a safe option maybe. The best part is their san Sebastian or basque cheesecake which is just wow. The vibe is also really good and they give you a card with your bill which is really cool.

We visited this restaurant the day we landed in Halifax on what would be the start of a week-long trip around NS and NB. The food was SO GOOD that it dominated our conversation around the table and we couldn't stop talking about it for the rest of the trip. It could have been that we were in a haze from our flight, but I choose to believe the food was simply that good. I ordered the charred carrots as well as seared the scallops and porch belly (see photos). Others at my table ordered fresh oyster platters and a roast beef(brisket?) dish. All of it was phenomenal. Our trip had us flying out from Halifax as well, so we had hoped to book another reservation by e-mail (our party size had grown to 7) but sadly never heard back in time. Granted, we e-mailed only the day before, so perhaps nobody was checking the inbox on weekends? I've been home for several weeks now and I'm STILL thinking about Highwayman so figured its time I leave a review. If I'm ever back in Halifax I will absolutely be eating here again!

This delicious tapas restaurant is the perfect spot for a date night or group outing as long as you like to share! The server was friendly, responsive and the food came out fairly quickly and not all at once. There wasn't a single dish we disliked though some we loved. They also were very careful for my allergies. Highly recommend making a reservation and parking can be a bit of a challenge.

Came here around 4pm for happy hour and it was almost empty so it was nice having the space to ourselves. Reservations were showing as booked out around that time too but there is likely seating not listed online. Got the seafood & snack platters which was a nice way to try a little of everything, it came with half a dozen oysters too and you can mix and match different types. It’s not a large space so it probably gets full during busy periods.

We loved this place so much we came back a second time after our trip of the Maritimes. From the selection of quality cocktails to the awesome service and choice of late night bites and dessert, we were hooked. The Thirst Aid Kit was my go to cocktail and we thoroughly enjoyed their wines, basque cheesecake and the tomato bread was divine. Travis our mixologist and server added to the evening and it was a perfect way to finish off an incredible trip across the East Coast of Canada - Thanks Travis! Thanks Team!

Tried Highwayman in the evening, so I had a chance to try some things on the after 10 menu. The oysters were a great start! They had some from Nova Scotia and P.E.I. I also tried the garlic shrimp. The garlic/wine they cooked it in was a little strong with alcohol but overall a good bite. The cocktails were very tasty and fun! My 2 favourites were the one pictured with a scoop of mango sorbet and the coconut-matcha cocktail. Both packed a punch and had alot of flavour! Would recommend for a fun night out with friends or date night!

Decided to give this place a try for brunch, but didn't have reservations. Fortunately we were able to get in. Our table was right at the entrance, so the occasional blast of cold air when the door was opened, but not too bad overall. We were informed the food would take 30 min, but it came faster than that. Service was good, except they came to check on the first few bites before I had the chance to try it and I had to ask for a bill when we were clearly finished for some time. I had the burger which was delicious, but be prepared, it's not a light meal and with all that cheese it was quite greasy. Ended up using a knife and fork. Spiced fries were really good. My wife had the hipster toast, which she really liked. A sharper or serrated knife would be a good idea to bring with that meal, however as it was also challenging to eat . Very nice decor, with a view of the harbor from most tables.

We had breakfast at Drift. The ambiance and food was top notch. The salmon eggs Benedict completely blew our mind. The flavours were very rich and complex. We also ordered the Monte Cristo breakfast, which is a combined French toast and ham sandwich. The cappuccino also had a very rich flavour and it reminded me of a hot chocolate with extra dark chocolate! This also tastes very good. Everything from the presentation of the food, the ambiance, and the service was top notch.

Drift was easily one of the most memorable dinner spots during our time in Halifax and for good reason! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, with a sleek modern/chic interior and a beautiful outdoor patio. We were lucky to be helped by the hostess (I forgot to get a name!), who was so kind and helpful in getting us the perfect outdoor seating. I kicked things off with the Purple Mist mocktail. The lavender x lemon flavour came through nicely and was refreshing. We were also kindly given a complimentary appetizer to start. I can’t remember exactly what it was, but it was a unique burst of flavours and textures. A bit sweet and salty, a touch of acidity (maybe umami?), and a hint of earthiness. A really fun way to start! The Maritime Oysters and Atlantic Salmon Tartare appetizers were beautifully plated, tasty, and fresh. For my main, I had the Nova Scotian Hodge Podge, and I absolutely loved it. Rich, comforting, and well seasoned—I nearly licked the bowl clean! The Pecan Butter Tart Sundae was the cherry on top. It was cold, nutty, buttery, fruity, and just the perfect sweet ending. Our server, Piper, was also seriously amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and professional, making the whole dining experience feel special from start to finish. If you’re looking for a refined dining spot in Halifax with great east coast food and top-tier service, Drift is a must-visit.

At 4:45 immediately greeted with a “We don’t serve food until 5:00pm”. Off to a bad impression from the start. I had the burger with the fries. The fries were good. The burger was very bland with no taste. I would recommend skipping that. Not sure what the gravy was…some kind of paste perhaps?!?! My wife had the wings. They were very dry. I tried one and the taste was something I’ve never tasted in chicken before. The ice water was warm…not sure how that happens. The Pepsi and the ketchup were the best part of the night.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. The atmosphere and decor are amazing. Very nice looking restaurant and very pleasant to eat there. And not noisy like some other popular restaurants around. The food was very good. The only reason I didn’t give full stars is because we felt that perhaps there could be a few more choices for entrées. Otherwise, great food, and we will be back.

Amazing service, ambiance and food! The lobster and shrimp cake is a must and you can’t sleep on their Maryann’s brown bread. The pork belly and scallops were also incredible and if you love a good cocktail you need to grab a drink. The margarita was perfect!

It was date night for my wife and I last week so we decided to try Drift and they didn’t disappoint. Beautiful location on the waterfront. The service was first rate and they offered us a free sample from their oyster menu once we sat down. I had the scallops and pork belly and my wife had their take on the jigs dinner. Both were absolutely delicious! We will definitely return on our next trip to Hali!

A touching story about how the Hadhad family started their chocolate factory. Food: 5/5 - delicious chocolates by promoting peace with one chocolate at a time. It would be ideal if they spread their mission throughout Canada. They have a great variety of chocolate combos such as chocolate with Nova Scotian wild blue berries or chocolate with PEI potato chips. A unique way to promote chocolate. Service: 5/5 - cashier was friendly and helpful Atmosphere: 5/5 - a cool vibe to the place that’s inviting with a beautiful decor. There’s even seating inside to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with a selection of pastries and cookies. If you’re in search of unique and tasty souvenirs especially for chocolate addicts, this is a must visit!

Love the selection of chocolate ! My favorite dark chocolate orange was sold out. But I enjoyed the dark chocolate with blue berries (twice in one day). Cute sayings!

So many choices! Great gift idea and fun to look through all the different flavours and fun packaging. Also love that so many of their products are linked to local charities. Note: if you go to the immigration museum of Canada, you’ll see a feature on the Syrian family that started this business. Love supporting businesses that start with a foundation of passion for building and supporting community. I got the Tiramisu bar, Golden bar (with crunchy bits and cinnamon- my fave) and what about your fadder bar (milk chocolate and potato chips). A great treat to bring back from my trip to Halifax and share with my family.

This place is so cute!! It has a very inviting atmosphere. The chocolates are DELICIOUS!!! I got a huge bag and I‘ve enjoyed every one I‘ve had thoroughly. They never miss!! There‘s also seating outside if you get one of their drinks or ice cream! Lastly, the staff are very nice and always willing to answer any questions :) would recommend to anyone in Halifax!

Try before you buy! They have no samples. We spent $10 for 4 small pieces of chocolate. I'm glad we did. We were going to buy these chocolates as gifts but personally found the quality to be less than stellar for the price. However, your experience may differ as some people seem to like them. Our son-in-law is from Switzerland. In our humble opinion, there is no comparison with the chocolate he brings back from home.

Lots of rich chocolate to choose from. Fresh made items and lots of candy bars. The staff was very helpful. We got the Dark Chocolate with wild blueberries and it was absolutely delicious.

Good chocolates. Appreciate the history of the place. We got the mix and match box. I wish I bought a bigger box.

Our flight back to Toronto was scheduled for 10 PM, so we decided to make the most of our last evening in Halifax by having dinner somewhere near the Prince George Hotel. While browsing for nearby restaurants on Google, we came across this spot and thought it looked promising—so we decided to give it a try. As we walked in, we were surprised to discover that the building actually houses two different restaurants. Since we didn’t have a reservation, the hostess offered us bar seating upstairs at The Five Fishermen, which we gladly accepted. The ambiance upstairs was warm, stylish, and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing dinner. We were served by a cool and friendly bartender who made us feel right at home. We decided to start with two appetizers, followed by our main courses. Everything we ordered was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. I’m a huge fan of seafood, and this place definitely delivered on flavor and quality. To top it all off, the staff surprised us with a sweet gesture at the end of our meal in celebration of our anniversary. It was a thoughtful touch that truly made the evening feel extra special and memorable. If you’re in Halifax and looking for a nice spot to enjoy a quality meal—especially if you love seafood—I highly recommend checking this place out. The service, food, and atmosphere were all on point, and it was a perfect way to wrap up our trip.

We had high hopes for Five Fishermen, and while there were definitely some highlights, the overall experience didn’t quite justify the price. First off, the atmosphere is lovely—refined but not stuffy—and the service was wonderful throughout. Our server was friendly and attentive, which really helped set the tone for the night. We originally wanted to try a couple of cocktails, but the prices were sky-high, so we stuck with beer instead. Thankfully, the beer selection was solid and went well with our meals. I ended up ordering the burger, mostly because the steaks were way out of our price range. That said, I was pleasantly surprised—the burger was excellent. Super juicy, with a delicious aioli and tomato jam that really elevated it. My wife had the vegetarian risotto, and while she enjoyed it once everything was mixed together, the base risotto itself was pretty bland. Not a bad dish, but definitely not worth what we paid for it. If we weren’t on a budget, we might have been able to explore more of the menu—and maybe that would have changed our impression. But as it stands, this one’s a 3 out of 5 for us. Nice place, but just too expensive for what we got.

I had the Five Fish Experience and the oysters — both were absolutely outstanding! The oysters were large, fresh, and delicious, and their mignonette was divine. The Five Fish meal was generous and perfectly prepared. What truly made the evening unforgettable was the service. Laura went above and beyond — I’ve never felt so well attended to. The hostesses were also wonderful and welcoming, even taking my coat upon arrival. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. The Five Fishermen definitely did not disappoint!

The Five Fisherman was the first choice on my restaurant list for Halifax and it definitely did not disappoint. The location itself is beautiful - very elegant inside with multiple floors and a classy yet maritime aesthetic. Server was outgoing in an unintrusive way and did an excellent job - bringing things promptly, answering questions, and checking in periodically. The meal itself was great! Had the "Fish Five Experience" which seemed like an obvious choice, as well as a lobster mac & cheese, with some oysters to start. The raspberry mignonette was rather unique and totally delicious - I have a feeling that oysters in the future will always be a bit underwhelming without this delicious addition. Overall loved the meal, definitely a 5/5 experience and would happily visit again if I return to Halifax.

We had a date night here on Wednesday. We just wanted some lobster before leaving the city and this restaurant fulfilled that wish. Our server Alishia was amazing. Her wine recommendation complimented our meal well. The lobster Mac and cheese was tasty and so was the mash that came with the lobster dinner! The lemon loaf 6 ways was quite interesting as a finisher to our night.

Wow, what great service! Laura served us on our vacation in Halifax and treated my partner and I to a special experience. The dinner here was amazing the fisherman dish with Risoto and crab cakes as an appetizers was amazing. Will definitely be coming back on my next stay.

This is more than just about great local food and drinks! In May I visited Halifax for the first time and the local friends invited us to The Wooden Monkey. We were an international group that felt welcomed. The staff was fun. The story of this restaurant with its beginnings made me see how the local community can transform tragedy into support, legacy and connection. You'll find a unique blend of history, sustainability, entrepreneurship and love for community in relics, decorations or pieces of furniture. In challenging times their story stands true to resiliency and culture that goes beyond time. If I won't be back I'll still be touched by what's possible where we are.

This place was lovely. The vibe was cozy and welcoming. The staff were super friendly and easygoing. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, they found us a table and made us feel really comfortable. Our server was amazing, very helpful with the menu and just had a great attitude.The food was great too. My daughter had the grilled fish with potatoes and tartar sauce, it was just $10 and honestly way better than what you’d expect for that price. I had the mushroom soup of the day, and it was fresh, light, and full of flavor. Overall, just a really warm, relaxed place with good food. We’ll definitely go back.

Love everything about this place. Cool vibe, supporting local product and lot's of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options! Staff is very welcoming and extremely nice (Thank You Alice). After a long day at the beach, there Vegan donair sandwich with chickpea salad hit the spot. Full of flavour and for a person that’s not a fan of the sauce I have to admit it was pretty damn good. I ordered the lentil burger with a beet salad. The lentil burger comes on a pita and the bottom was soaked in liquid from the beet salad so I couldn’t pick it up. If you order a burger or sandwich with a salad you may want to ask for them to be on separate plates. Also the lentil patty was a bit dry and crumbly. I wouldn’t get it again.

We recently held our civil ceremony reception at The Wooden Monkey, and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the staff were incredible. They were attentive, professional, and genuinely kind. Everything ran smoothly and all of our guests felt comfortable and well taken care of. The food was exceptional, and they were very accommodating with creating a reduced menu for us! The space itself was cozy and welcoming, and the perfect atmosphere for an intimate gathering. The evening was exactly what we hoped for! We will highly recommend the restaurant for private events!

Henry House was my introduction to fish & chips, and it remains as good as that first time. A nice venue with indoor and outdoor seating, good service. The fish is soft like butter inside that great batter, and the tartar sauce is amazing (dill is the secret ingredient….shh). I will continue to return every time I am in Halifax!

While visiting the Halifax Public Gardens I asked a local where my wife and I should go for dinner. (I was looking for a place the locals go to.) He recommended Henry House. We were not disappointed! Pub fare well above average, price that I consider to be reasonable and attentive service. I can see why local go to the Henry House.

Wow! Sunday night visit. Amazing attentive service. Food was delicious! Artichoke dip. Burger & fries. Chicken tikka masala & rice. Fish & chips. Beer on tap. All superb! Ended off with house made butterscotch pudding, lemon cheesecake, crème brûlée. Yum!! We loved it so much we came back on our last day in Halifax. Thus time we ordered lunch; minestrone soup, lobster cheese corn fritters and club wrap. Did not disappoint.

I really enjoyed the lamb shank — the sweetness was just right, not too much. The patio was cozy with a great vibe, and it’s dog-friendly. There’s also a free parking garage behind the restaurant!

Great British food restaurant in a historic heritage building. food was great, tasty beef&kidney pie with flavour of wine and black pepper. But it's quite hot during the summer days with no AC and barely ventilation.

Visited my old watering hole after a few years away. Food, drinks and service were as great as I remembered. I've always been partial to the old British pub vibe downstairs, but the upstairs dining room and patio are both excellent as well. The selection of in-house brews is reduced these days (the Peculiar is always worth a try!), but there are plenty of fine local beers on the menu now to make up for it. Give Henry House a try! You won't regret it.

I ordered the fish that was very tasty with a crispy batter. The Caesar salad was the highlight for me and I’ll probably order it as a main next time. My Dad absolutely loved his seafood chowder. My husband had the Reuben sandwich and fries. He had me try both and it was the best Reuben I’ve tried in a long time. The staff was beyond friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend for a great pub experience in the city.

Came here TWICE in my 3 night trip for a conference. DELICIOUS gluten free buns. I had a Reuben with seasonal beer salad (which was THE BEST with the fresh candied pecans and dried blueberries), and the Craic burger with Spice bag fries. The sumac and curry hints in that spice blend were so impactful but not overpowering. I am already planning a trip with the family in summer 2026 and going to bring them here for sure!

Stopped here for some snacks and drinks and it was fantastic! The Blarney Chips were delicious, and after having several chowders on our trip so far this was by far the best! Drinks were good too, and there was a ceilidh happening while we were there and the music was awesome! Service was also spectacular, over server was very quick. Loved our experience here!

My party of two was actually forgotten about and we watched others get seated and served after us, but keen observers will note the 5 star rating. It was just a busy night and the staff was so apologetic and kind (they even gave us a free app) and it was water under the bridge. But more importantly, the food was amazing. The french onion dip, guiness stew, cocktails, and the smoke burger were all delicious, especially the dip. Great staff, great food, great music, highly reccomend.

First off, we came for food, not for drinks. The ambience and service looks like it would be a great place for drinks. However, the food was pretty bad. The Irish Stew was undercooked (beef and potatoes) and sour. The seafood chowder was also way too salty.

The food was very good and our waitress Sally was very friendly, attentive, efficient and professional. We will definitely be going back the next time we visit Halifax. Not expensive for everything we had and very generous portions.

Unfortunately we were overcharged for our meals. Also for our non-alcoholic drinks. The waitress took our bills as soon as we started to pay for it so we didn't even have a receipt to look back on and see what was charged. We did tip even though we were missing all of our gravies. Usually it's a fun place to go but we had two birthdays and left leaving feeling very frustrated and hungry.

This is a more upscale restaurant and reservations are encouraged. First off the service was impeccable and the ambiance quite nice, including the dishware. As for the food: we were 4 people and 3/4 had amazing meals. They were accommodating of all our dietary restrictions, both celiac and allergies. One of us ordered the steak which came out cold but they immediately replaced it. Even the second time the steak wasn't quite the cuisson ordered but at least it was warm. The appetizers were all fantastic so were the desserts. If it weren't for the one main. This place would have gotten a perfect score. I would give it 4.5 if I could award half points.

This little gem of a restaurant serves drool worthy locally sourced seasonal fare that will make your mouth water. They offer a true culinary delight! The restaurant is cozy and chic and the owner and staff are warm and welcoming as well as generous with their knowledge and work with other local businesses. We went to Edna for Mother’s Day and had a fantastic experience. My mother is Celiac, and the staff were very careful and accommodating, which we truly appreciated. Everyone loved the food and drinks, and we had a lovely evening together. My partner’s steak was served cold, but the team handled it quickly and brought a new one without any fuss. The tuna was my personal favourite dish of the night—absolutely delicious!

I was visiting Halifax while working, decided to take a walk on my lunch break and stumbled upon this restaurant! I vaguely remember the driver who took me to my hotel mentioning it being loved by locals and didn’t think much of it since then. When I went on my walk k didn’t realize how close I was and decided to give it a try since I had some time. Boy oh boy am I glad I ever stopped in! This place was amazing. I was greeted by friendly staff and sat immediately, the sever was very attentive and provided great recommendations. It was only my second time having gnocchi and I don’t think I could ever eat another gnocchi dish again, it was absolutely amazing! My only negative thing to say is that I didn’t get to go back and have dinner! Definitely recommend to try this place out!

Our server was by far the most informed and attentive I have encountered in a very long time, unfortunately her name escapes (but she is only there in the evenings). We started with the Burrata, delish. I had the Braised Short Rib and it was amazing, sure didn’t need a knife for the beef, it was so tender. My friend had the Seared Scallops. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant for both the outstanding service and excellent meal…did I mention the presentation of each dish was stellar. Definitely on my return list.

This place was highly recommended by friends. Totally exceeded expectations. The ambiance is relaxed and non-pretentious, service is great and the food is by far one of the best I’ve had this year. The chef must have an incredible palate to come up with his delectable creations. We started with oysters both shucked and baked. They were very fresh and the baked oysters were perfectly cooked, not overdone. The mackerel special was very delicious and well balanced with complex flavours while not overpowering. We finished with the chocolate torte - what a great way to end the evening. I will return.

I swear I’ve written a review before so let me just summarize: this year I’ve been here for 2 dinner’s and most recently brunch. Brunch scones: 2 chocolate chip scones (with the small cheap chocolate chips) was crispy on the outside but tasted like a soft cookie on the inside so it felt off to put maple butter and jam on it. 1/5 as a scone 3/5 as a cookie Salmon Benedict: eggs came poached hard, even though I requested soft. It was Luke warm (probably why eggs were hard) served with very little hollandaise on the thinnest slice of baguette I’ve ever seen (it was cracker thin), it came with two small crispy hash brown type things that were amazing and a salad with a great citrus dressing. My husband had the fish cakes that did arrive hot, were tasty, with more hollandaise than me, and same potato and salad. I was a bit upset with my salmon Benedict but the rest was okay 4/5 I had two other dinners: one was not good (had the zucchini blossom appetizer that was the oiliest thing - literally 1 fried blossom came on a bed of oily seeds/nuts, it was gross) I can’t remember what else I ordered but I was upset 2/5 And the first meal this year was great, I only remember the fried oysters were amazing, everything else was good (their little appetizer special and mains) 5/5 If only my last two visits were as good as the first. Not sure if I’m going to come back again

Our first meal in Halifax came just up the street from our Airbnb. What a fantastic surprise: the food was excellent, the presentation excellent, one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time traveling. A must stop if you are visiting the city. Reservations maybe required.

We live here since 9 months ago ne I wanted so much to try this place. It’s done and we will come back again: the food is excellent and so tasty! The place and the service are very pleasant.

Hamburger was good, but fries were obviously frozen, had that yuck taste. Trout was great, potatoes absolutely delicious, but portion size way to small. Great wait staff, neat locale, but too loud to hear well. Could be a 4.5 star restaurant, stop it with the frozen fries, not fooling anyone.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is amazing .. I love that you can see the old front of store wall in the windowed in area we were in. Food was really good and our server was absolutely fantastic. The menu was a little on the pricey side.

Top-notch food. Some of the best I've eaten in Halifax. I had a potato leek soup, which was very good, although I could have done without the pickled mustard seeds. One of my baguette slices was toasted beyond edibility but that was quickly corrected. My entree was a short rib, which was very, very rich. It was served with hasselback potatoes covered in a delicious sauce, and a broccoli cooked with olive oil, lemon, and salt. They were the best-tasting broccoli I've ever had, and one of the highlights of the meal. My wife had halibut with "French gnocchi" which she loved, too. I had a few bites of the gnocchi and it was creamy and delicious.

Took my sister here for a birthday lunch. The place has a nice ambience and creative menu. They're vegan friendly and I got a really nice falafel bowl. I also got some triple cooked fries and they were to die for seriously. Other people in our party got the burgers and the risotto. The risotto had quite a big piece of char fish. Two main problems: parking is very, very difficult... if you have a reservation you should probably try and be early in case you need to drive around a lot to find a spot. There's a lot across the street but you have to call a number and leave a credit card, which we weren't prepared to do. Secondly the portions are a bit small, but the prices are pretty good.. I would probably get an appetizer next time.

There are a few out of the way gems that we happen upon every-so-often. This is one of them! We’re in Halifax for a wedding tomorrow, staying close by and saw this place as we walked by, twice. The food was very good, the server was excellent! But be warned...we were told that the menu changes often, though I’m sure it will just as good as what was on the menu when we ate here. The wine recommended was first class, at $75/bottle it sounded expensive, but when I looked it up on the internet, found that it retails for over $88. (They have less expensive wines on their list but this one sounded so good from the description that we had to get it). It DID NOT disappoint! A bit noisy at times, but well worth the visit.

Got the Fish and Chips and it was delicious. Owner has a friendly personality and great service which made the experience exceptional. Also there is a great outdoor seating to enjoy the North End neighborhood. Would definitely recommend.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this fish and chips restaurant. The food was outstanding,perfectly crispy batter, fresh, flaky fish, and golden fries cooked just right. Every bite tasted like it was made with care. On top of that, the customer service was just as impressive. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. It’s rare to find a place that delivers both amazing food and top-notch service, but this restaurant does it effortlessly. Highly recommend to anyone looking for the best fish and chips around!

Visiting area, ate here twice for dinner. Haddock and chips were great , batter is crispy and not too oily, fries made freah and perfect. Tartar sauce made in house and tasty, one of the best ive had. Seafood chowder just right , tasty. Coleslaw also made in house and tasty. I like Gahan house fish and chips and this was less greasey and crispier , good colour on batter. If i lived in area i would make this my regular stop for seafood. Only two workers and both were friendly and easy to have a conversation with. Definitely coming back whem visiting.

Their portion sizes for the calamari are very small for $18. I was in disbelief when I opened the box and saw how many pieces there were. When I asked one of the employees why it is so small, the owner yelled from the kitchen “You ordered an appetizer, thats what you get. I gave you that much for a reason”. When I asked him for the reason, he went to the back of the kitchen This place will definitely go downhill if this owner is still here. The owner needs a reality check.

I worked next door years ago and remembered they had great fish n chips. Went back with half my family (just my youngest son) and the food was great. Fish was a bit small and not many fries considering the price. But we loved the food. 2 stars because of the extras they over charge for. And I believe that is why they are not busy. $4 plus for a can of pop .50 cents or $1.50 for tater sauce with the fish. $2. A tiny cup of cole saw. I might go back but I would pre prepare before with tater sauce and drinks. Might of been $14 plus tax for 3 cans of pop and tater sauce and 2 small coleslaw.

I only had one night in Halifax and wanted to try some fish and chips. I ordered a single piece, but the server kindly brought me two—each with a different batter—so I could try both options. Great service, very friendly, and delicious food!

Café Lunette was a lovely dinner spot during our time in Halifax. The interior itself was stunning, elegant, and chic. Overall, a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. We started with the Steak Tartare and French Onion Soup, both of which were delicious. The portion sizes were also just right and everything was seasoned nicely. For my main, I went with the French Onion Burger. I liked the concept and was excited to see how they’d bring their signature soup flavour into a burger format. The meal was pretty solid, but it didn’t really capture the same magic as the soup we had. The fries were a touch salty for my taste, but still enjoyable. We were served by David throughout, who was friendly and professional. We definitely felt taken care of from start to finish! Overall, Café Lunette is a pretty spot near the harbourfont with great service and nice French-inspired dishes.

I came with my family for brunch. The place is beautiful, the service was ok, and the food was nice. The four breakfasts were delicious. I have only two complaints, first I asked for a Mimosa and the amount of prosecco is very small, I corroborated it when I saw how it was prepared for another table. Second, the waiter tried a few times to avoid our table. I am not a brunch person, but the experience was nice.

Beautiful place! The food was great, ordered the 2 course for $41 French onion soup and steak frites. The fries were delicious as they are fried in duck fat and the dip was so good too. I was only disappointed with the baguette…. It was too small. Sliced fresh baguette would be better than these hard mini ones that you can barely butter. And the star of the show is the butter for the baguette in my view! Would love to come back. Also my friend got the Cherry Sour cocktail and that was beautiful and delicious also. Well done. Too full to try dessert. We came for a birthday and the server was kind enough to spilt the bills for us to pay for our guest. They even gifted our friend macarons for her birthday at the end! We loved our experience here. Thank you.

Wow!! What a wonderful place. We enjoyed their happy hour food: beef tartare, oysters, French onion fries and cocktails. Delicious 😋 The decor is amazing. The place feels fresh and cozy. Service was A+. Will be back for sure on our next visit to Halifax.

This was the best experience my husband and I have had for breakfast, and possibly ever. We were just visiting for the afternoon and wanted something simple and to have a nice seat. This cafe did not disappoint. The environment was absolutely adorable!! Everything meshed so perfect down to the baristas striped shirts. My husband experienced the best roast beef sandwich of his life and almost a week later, has told over five people. Unfortunately, we will likely never be back due to only being there traveling but I can not recommend enough. We will remember forever.

Went here for evening desserts, here’s what we ordered: - crème brûlée - was pretty good - golden chai latte - had too much spices my sister couldn’t drink it - mezcal sunrise mocktail - was good but I guess mezcal is just not my cup of tea - dacquoise - pretty mid - banana eclair - pretty good. Overall, it’s a beautiful spot for pickmes like my sister Mariia and I, but the desserts and drinks were quite mid. I feel like for this price & kind of spot I would expect something more tender and sophisticated than this. So it felt quite pretentious like 90% of restaurants on the waterfront I feel like Pane e Circo is a good example of a nice chic cafe that is not pretending to be what it’s not, and the food& drinks are actually supreme. Anyways, it was ok, but we wouldn’t come back

Visited this restaurant with my family and my dear sister Daria. It’s pretty, however, lights are kinda dark so you most likely won’t get any pretty pictures from it. The desserts were okay, I especially liked the cream brûlée, but for its price of 12 CAD there was objectively very little of dessert. The drinks are a different story. I ordered a golden chai latte, and although I was well aware it is a spicy drink with a lot of cinnamon and other spices, I could not drink it. There were too many spices that I got the impression that they stupidly put two tablespoons of cinnamon and a bunch of other spices. It was too much and I drank water for the rest of the evening instead of the drink I ordered. The waiters were not very nice, it almost felt like they didn’t really care about the customers and didn’t even try to hide it. Overall, this place is quite overpriced and isn’t worth it. Although, if you want to check your date for stinginess, please, go for it.

I’ve eaten here twice and both experiences were absolutely incredible. The dishes are so beautifully and thoughtfully composed. Ingredients are second to none. The kitchen’s attention to detail, execution, timing of courses and overall quality is truly impressive and so appreciated. Service has been delightful. Both servers were the same both times and just as kind, welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu, drinks, wine and describe the dishes perfectly every time. Halifax is lucky to have this incredible gem of a restaurant. The Ostrich Club would stand up beside some of the best restaurants in every major Canadian city. It’s a privilege and a pleasure to enjoy a meal here.

The Ostrich Club has levelled up! Moira Murray (from Top Chef Canada) is in the kitchen and the food is fantastic. We were there with a group last night and ate the whole menu and asked for seconds. The food is so well balanced and there are little surprises on every dish. Top notch. Chef Murray is matched perfectly with Lindsay Jones' creative and fun cocktails and Alana Steele's seemingly endless wine knowledge (she will tell you where the glue for the label came from and why it's relevant)

Friendly, efficient service. Pretty decor. Good music. Got the tuna crudo, the BBQ chicken (boneless), and the tortelloni, and everything was delicious and well presented. had three excellent cocktails off their Mean Girls menu, the On Wednesdays we wear pink, the Get in Loser, and a boozy October 3rd. All well balanced.

Another excellent experience at Ostrich. Wonderful atmosphere and the service is top notch. Alana looked after us and did an excellent job pairing interesting wines with our food. We came close to eating the entire menu and not one miss!!! This is one very talented chef! She turned simple corn into a thoughtful and delicious dish. Love everything about this place!! If you haven’t been, go!!!!

First visit. Food was good. Some dishes better than others. Dumplings and scallops were excellent. Beef tartar was salty and would pass. Overall food is ok. Service is so so and drinks are nice but over priced. We order several dishes. Had some cocktails and a few glasses of wine but the price paid seemed quite high vs the meal. Glad we tried but probably wouldn’t go back for the price vs value.

Was nice to stumble on this place for Sunday Brunch. My meal came with included Mimosa. However, when I ordered a Croque Monsieur I was expecting the Traditional French open Sandwich. I received a Ham&Cheese Sandwich. Perhaps the other dishes are more Traditional French Cuisine. The Pomme Frites were excellent.

Absolutely the best dinner we have had in a long time. The atmosphere is incredible but the food will leave you speechless. We had the shrimp for an appetizer, lobster risotto and scallops for dinner and finished with their famous lemon curd ice cream. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the prices were more than fair! Would highly recommend! May just see you there!!

Gosh it’s so kitschy and charming in here. Don’t expect to be taken to France - It’s Canadian food for sure. We had the steak which was perfectly cooked and the blackened haddock was very nice too. I certainly think some of the food could use a level up. The baguette was disappointing. Drinks were nothing to write home about. The lemon dessert kinda tasted freezer burned. But hey, it’s cute in there & the service was absolutely top notch.

Le Bistro by Liz never disappoints. Service is excellent. Love the lemon parfait pie - light and refreshing - ate it too quickly and forgot to take a picture. I rarely order soup at restaurants as I find them usually very salty. The onion soup here is perfect! For the entrees, they do give you value for your money. We have yet to try every single item on the menu. Can’t wait to go back.

Food was amazing, the best hollandaise sauce of my life! Service was fast and friendly, food got here really fast too (within ten minutes at 11:30 on a Saturday). Interior is so cute, really feels like a little terrace in Paris. Definitely recommend. You also get a free mimosa or Caesar with brunch, so eggs Benny and a mimosa for under $20 is amazing!

This was my first time eating authentic Chinese cuisine and honestly will never be going back to fast food again. Every bite was flavourful and amazing. Atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting. It was a high end fine dining meal without the high end prices. Everything we ordered was excellent, you must try the pork belly.

This place is FANTASTIC!! The food is incredible and such high quality. We ordered from the non-throwback menu because I had read that the chef was very innovative. He did not disappoint. We especially enjoyed the beef ribs and the tacos with Peking duck. Everything presented beautifully. The wait staff was very friendly and the chef came out to make sure we were enjoying his food.

Celebrated my 50th bday here and it was very special. From the service to the incredible food (best Chinese in the Maritimes) to the amazing service. Chef Ivan even greeted us after the meal. I was just blown away by the attention to detail. We will support this place for every special occasion!

Vegetarian options can be challenging to find and are often quite bland. Absolutely not the case with the Crispy Tofu Steak and spring rolls I enjoyed this weekend. Rich in flavour and well presented, I was very pleased with my meal and look forward to trying other options on the menu. While waiting for my meal I heard another table discussing how good their food was too. This restaurant is a little gem located in Rockingham on the Bedford Highway. If you are looking for something new and flavourful, I encourage you to dine with them. You won't be disappointed.

The Orient is Halifax’s best kept culinary secret. Chef Ivan is the authentic deal for top notch meals. Professional presentation and his mixture of flavours are simply divine. His meals are a cut above any restaurant in eastern Canada, bar none. This is the place to go if you want to experience world class food at a reasonable price. With your new menu you’ve raised the bar yet again. Kudos Chef Ivan.

I dined at The Orient for the first time last week. We had an absolutely fantastic experience—the service and the food were both excellent. We ordered several dishes to share, and every single item was delicious. It was so good that I literally can’t stop thinking about it—I can’t wait to go back.

Worst lobster roll I’ve ever had and I’ve had many. The garlic lemon sauce was so overwhelming and the lobster itself was chopped into tiny pieces. The roll fell apart as it was so saturated with sauce. You couldn’t taste the lobster just the sauce. Horrible. Fresh. I don’t think so. The server said it came out of the freezer and it tasted like it. Steer clear. Definitely never going back.

If you love ❤️ Lobster 🦞 rolls then you came to the right place. Holy moly I ordered the half and half and it’s was heaven in my mouth 👄 yummy 😋. Better than Pikes place lobster roll in Seattle. Highly recommend you get your hands on this when visiting Halifax.

Extremely friendly service. Lobster roll was pretty good but it was the cheapest of my vacation by far so it evens out! Staff were superb and pleasant. Nice little area to dine in near the cruise ship. Definitely recommended! 🤩

This isn't going to be an overly detailed review but we've eaten 8 lobster rolls so far on our maritime adventure and I'd put this one in the bottom tier. I had the "fancy" version (warm with butter) and it was maybe a big soggy, and just not as enjoyable for some reason. Maybe it was just the different style that I didn't enjoy as much - can't put my finger on it. It was also one of the most expensive (if not he most expensive) lobster rolls we've had on the trip.

My gf just got back for the East Coast and i was so excited to come here and try this (i’m from Ontario) one of my first stops was Dave’s in Halifax to get a lobster roll and i was so disappointed i wanted to cry lol i opened a very pathetic lobster roll and slim pickle.. i sent my gf a pic and she showed me hers and OMG the difference. Mine looked like the people didnt even care and i wish i got my money back or had them re do it. Will try my luck at a lobster roll again in PEI… probably not Dave’s though.

Yeah, it’s an expensive lobster roll but it’s in a prime tourist spot so that’s to be expected. As someone who grew up in an area with a lot of lobster, I can confidently say this lobster roll is great! Nice buttered bun, right amount of mayo (just a bit), and fresh oceany flavor. And the chips- way better than they have to be! Not sure why it has such a low review score, it deserves much better.

Great little bar I visited on my Halifax trip! Staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the oysters and cheese board (on happy hour!) were so good! My server Audrey (Aubrey?) was kind and professional, could easily tell the mood of people sitting at the bar and give them as much or little attention as they needed. Great vibes, great drinks, great food, great service!

Great wine bar and restaurant recommended to us by curated food tours, I had the gnocchi which were absolutely spot on, it's one of my favourite childhood dishes, there is an excellent choice of wine by the glass we had the white Rioja. It would have been 5 starts as the services as very good, the noise level was fine initially however the music was turned up twice, restaurants and bars are social places were people come to talk, music is fine it's just the level. I would go back

Stopped in for a glass of wine with friends to get the evening started. They have wine flights which is the perfect way to try a few wines and see what you like. The atmosphere is cozy and moody, and feels nicely tucked away despite being on a busy street corner.

Went in tonight to have a glass of wine with my partner, we spent roughly $15/glass on a 5oz. glass of wine. While it was a nice spot, I wasn’t expecting to share the table and personal space with mice… when I brought it to the attention of our server, her only response is “we are aware. We have pest control on twice a week, but doesn’t seem to do much since winter is upon us.” Glad I didn’t order food.

I can’t believe I haven’t heard about this place sooner. I absolutely love Mappatura. The service, atmosphere, and food are all top notch. This is easily the best Italian I’ve had in the city, and even if it wasn't, the staff are so lovely I’d be happy to return any time. We had the perfectly crusty on the outside soft on the inside bread (which is from LF bakery), the perfect Caesar salad, the wildly delicious calamari (must try), and the equally delicious tagliatelle and carbonara for our mains. Also finished with the lemon tart, which has for me the perfect little crust that’s just enough. It’s hard to find a place like Mappatura which has such a great reputation that can both meet and exceed the expectations. I’ve found a new favourite and can’t wait to come back and continue exploring the menu. Extra shout out to the sincerely lovely staff there - it was such a genuinely warm, and welcoming atmosphere. Kudos on the exceptionally friendly and attentive service - it’s so rare these days and so greatly appreciated on a night out. We’ll be back soon.

Amazing! First, the service was so good. We went for a small girls night and our waiter understood everything we needed. She had a lot of knowledge about all the options on the menu. I had the lemon drop martini all night at her recommendation! The food was awesome. The calamari was my one of my favourites in Halifax. It stands out because it is saucy! The pasta (Tortelloni) was super creamy and packed with flavour! I’m still obsessed with vodka sauce so I love having it any chance I get. All the dessert were amazing! We all got a different one to be able to try. The lemon tart was my definitely my favourite! I would highly recommend!

The team of servers Dani and Salome are incredibly efficient , professionally sweet and friendly. The bartender is the owner!! Drinks were amazing as the owner’s vision of what it is to wk as a team! The atmosphere was so nice in the food was absolutely incredible. It’s one of the best Italian restaurants at Halifax downtown. This is the closest thing that you will get. I ordered the Vongole little neck clam. The clams were so juicy and the coming out of it was sub-lime. My dad ordered the chicken and it was also so juicy the crispy bread on top was cooked to perfection. Nonalcoholic options and their Italian soda, which they make the syrup themselves is also so unique every single time. Overall for any occasion, whether you’re with your family friends are on a date night.

Cozy and bright little space. Went there as the sun was setting. Gorgeous natural light and they light candles as it darkens. The staff were very courteous and attentive. Best calamari I've ever had. The mocktails are delicious as well. Highly recommend.

My girlfriend took me out to a surprise dinner at Mappatura. We were given a wonderful greeting as we entered, offered a couple of tables to pick from and asked if we wanted our coats hanged. We were promptly asked if we wanted a drink, given the spritz special and meal of the day. We had the bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and Caesar salad as an appetizer, which were both delicious. Then we were explained the wine by the glass and ordered our mains. The timing on everything service related was impeccable. We took the gnocchi and pasta a la vodka, both were absolutely gourmand. The service is some of the best in town, the food was stunning and the atmosphere perfect for a romantic date. I would recommend to anyone!!!

We just finished an incredible dinner at Mappatura. We were looking for some delicious Italian, off the beaten path and we found it! Menu was thoughtful and well put together. The space is cute, trendy and cozy but not stuffy at all. Our server Maggie was fantastic, attentive and helpful with not too much hovering, with some great suggestions when asked. The price isn’t cheap, but is standard for good food these days, and about what I expected based on the amount of food/drink we ordered. 10/10 would come again.

My Montreal smoked meat sandwich was incredible! Such big portions, you will not walk away hungry. Finished it off with a cannoli. Satisfaction guaranteed!

the most recent time i visited was for a date, and my usual order of spaghetti and meatballs with a greek salad as always was delicious! the waitress even seemingly noticed i was running low on sauce with my noodles and gave me a small bowl of it for free which i thought was very sweet. this is a wonderful place with a lovely atmosphere (which i value a lot as someone with sensory issues), a great selection of items in the market section, and the service is very efficient. if my italian grandparents were still alive, i definitely think they would've loved it here

A great little shop where you can find a taste of Italia with fresh cheeses and sauces, pastas and coffee and even red Italian wine! We didn’t try the trattoria but it smelled so good! Prices seem reasonable for what we needed (except the San Pellegrino…).

Amazing Italian market and restaurant. Don't sleep on the real locally-made burrata! Cannoli and pasta and espresso and chicken Parm all have been amazing. I just wish they'd have an outdoor patio year-round to have amazing meals outdoors.

Is it $12 for a sandwich…. Yes… Is it worth it.. also yes! This place has an excellent selection and every sandwich I have tried has not disappointed. Their selection of sweets are tantalizing but I have resisted the urge to splurge. Friendly staff, clean store. Only downside a little slow for service even when there is no line ups.

I drove 1500 km to Halifax for the much storied King of Donair and was not disappointed! I give the donair of my dreams a good, solid three thumbs-up!

Heard lots of good things about this place. And honestly it was a pretty good donair. I enjoyed the poutine way more as it had more of a savory sauce as the OG item is more of a sweet sauce. I think that’s what makes it a donair over a donor😆. I’m not really sure. Either way I was not unhappy I made the trek on my quick cruise stop. I would defenitly love to have that poutine again if was in the area!

My boyfriend brought me here as he grown up here. I tasted a Donair for the first time and I must say it was exceptional. The sauce was very great. Also, I strongly recommend this place and my boyfriend was in heaven.

Boyfriend has always wanted to try this place since watching Trailer park boys. While you wait for your food theirs lots of photos of famous people who have visited King or Donair. The place is super hot you sweat while ordering and waiting for your food. We ordered two Donairs no tomato or onion , extra sauce . The lady who took our order repeated it back correctly , however the younger lady helping her piled a crap tun of them on and I seen the other lady waving at her and speaking in their language. The lady who took our order then used tongs to take them off and I still ended up with two pieces of raw onion. You don’t need to ask for extra sauce because they put a lot on. Boyfriend loved the sauce i however found it a bit too sweet and it kind do threw me off . Meat was tasty and they put a lot on.

Over priced frozen food! $18 for a small dry cardboard pizza with no flavor. Frozen pizza is better and 1/3 the price! Donair egg rolls are again very very dry flavorless with no meat. For the donair they asked if we wanted "the works" on it and we said yes, so you'd assume there would be more then just meat and sauce...!?! Pouting was OK but small. 2 donair egg rolls Small pizza Donair Poutine and drink For $70!!! Price is gross and so is the food!

Such a great spot for grilled meat! We tried beef and lamb chops, both yummy, just a little lighter in flavor. The tomato-based sauce that came with it was AMAZING!! So rich and tasty and I wanted to take it home 😍 The rice had some spices in it, which my friend didn't like. Hoping we can maybe swap it for plain rice next time if we get a set meal.

My office used Chef Abod's Catering for a business dinner in Halifax. We ordered the Atlantic Salmon meal with salad, the Tofu kebabs, and dinner rolls, and each item was EXCELLENT! Both the salmon and tofu were incredibly well-seasoned, had such rich flavour, of course, with a Middle-Eastern flair. They also threw in some complimentary grilled pita bread, which was DIVINE. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the meal and most people asked who the caterer was, to which I was glad to give this wonderful company's name! I highly recommend Chef Abod's for any catering needs at a reasonable price range.

We came on a summer Saturday evening and the place was packed, with dozens waiting. As a group of 2, we were able to be seated after a 15 minute wait. Inside had a colonial charm, but it was hard to appreciate with so many customers. We ordered two appetizers and two mains, and spent $90 after tax and tip. Service was great, and the food came out in a timely fashion. The fried clams were absolutely scrumptious; perfectly breaded, no oil residue, with a light but flavorful tartar sauce to accompany. The lemon wedge was extremely juicy and fresh, and was cut for ease of squeezing. The best fried clams I’ve had in all of Atlantic Canada, and could easily hold its own to the best fried clams Maine, USA can offer. The fried taters were extremely tasty and interesting; they didn’t look like potatoes at all. It seemed like it was first baked, then sliced and fried perfectly. The garnishes and sauces chosen for the dish paired with the potatoes excellently. The halibut in the Dutch Mess was cooked to perfection. The cream sauce wasn’t heavy, and did not mask the fantastic tastes and textures of the halibut or wilted greens. The molasses brown bread that came with the dish was also very good; most places that serve brown bread have it come out way too wheaty and malty. Compared to the rest of the dishes, the Fried Chicken Sandwich was nothing special. That is, it was still very good, but everything else was just that amazing. A must visit when coming to Halifax!

Had a lovely time at the Narrows! Wanted to come to this place after hearing raving reviews about it from multiple locals and decided to pay a visit. The atmosphere of the place was extremely cozy and the visuals were beautiful. You can tell the interior design was picked with intention. I decided to order the deviled eggs (with the white anchovies [$4 addition]) and the bologna sandwich. The deviled eggs were salty and vinegary, but also creamy at the same time. The bologna sandwich was lovely, and the pickles and raw onions complemented the sandwich perfectly. The server attending to my meal was very kind and welcoming! Would definitely come back here again.

Had heard great things about this restaurant and gave it a try when visiting Halifax. Walked in and there was wait - host wasn't sure of wait time, but this is busy restaurant and hard to predict. We had 8 groups waiting in front of us and we were seated in around 40 mins. The food is really as good as people say it is. DELICIOUS! I've never had better fish and chips. Crispy and perfectly seasoned. The ice cream and tart dessert was mouth melting. The Lake City cider was delicious. The servers and host were great and constantly on their feet in what was an insane rush for a Wednesday evening. The decor is beautiful - the inside of a house decked out as a restaurant! Everywhere you look there's something new to see. You can tell a lot of care was put into this place. Word of advice- no one picks up the phones (likely because they're busy) but just wanted to mention that. All in all - amazing experience and cannot recommend enough !!!

We were those people; arriving two minutes before the kitchen closed and submitting orders. The staff were all extremely kind despite that, and the bartender makes a strong drink! Honestly, the fish and chips was the best fish I had out of our entire Halifax trip, so we were even happier they still served us dinner. The batter on the fish is light, super crunchy, and not very greasy at all! HIGHLY recommend. Also, the building is absolutely gorgeous, the atmosphere is a winner.

THE HYPE IS REAL! This place has the best vibe and staff, but the food is also a slam dunk. There are multiple local maritime ‘square dinners’ to choose from, which I had a difficult time doing. The waiter recommended I try the Dutch Mess, and I’m glad I did, as it was delicious! We waited about 20 minutes for a table at 6:30 PM on a Friday, which is to be expected. The place is large inside, however seating is in various areas between 2 and 6ish seats per table. I wish there were more homey pubs like this all over - Halifax is lucky to have it.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch of fish and chips, shrimp roll, along with the deviled eggs and beef croquette. The pub is within an 1890's era heritage house, with an atmospheric ambiance. Our server Hope was friendly, professional, attentive and efficient. A superb dining experience at this popular restaurant. Highly recommended!

Luckily, since I was alone, I didn't have to wait too long. （sit on the chair) I ordered a double neat Long Highland 14y- it tasted wonderfully of chocolate with a hint of smokiness 🥃. The food was delicious; I ordered a lot and felt full at the time, but I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it - maybe my digestion is just too efficient! The service was excellent and very attentive. I really loved the atmosphere here and will definitely be coming back often."

came here by myself on a Saturday night and was able to make a last minute reservation. Every single staff member is kind and attentive to service. I felt incredibly well taken care of. I ordered a noche de tia, with the elotes and the mushroom birria tacos. 💯 food was served very quickly. My sole “complaint” is that I think glassware should be a little cleaner, but it didn’t alter my overall experience.

Everything we ordered tasted very fresh and made with care. Not one of those places that just deep fries or microwaves the best that Sysco can sell. Service was quick and our guac came within a couple minutes of being ordered. We tried a couple different tacos and they were all fantastic but if you’re very hungry you will have to order a bunch of different plates ($$$) or go hit up cows for some dessert ($$) to feel full. The drinks from the bar are very quick (which we loved) but a warning that the music is kept at a very…energetic…volume and it might be hard to hear your dining companion(s).

If you love, like or want a margarita get your bottom over here! Bar sofia has one of the best margaritas Halifax has to offer, they nailed the spicy to fun ratio. Absolutely delicious! The restaurant pays homage to different latin cultures beautifully with their fusion of foods such as the bravas Brussel sprouts. We had a hard time deciding what to order as everything sounded spectacular! We only tried appies for food, they were yummy, however the toppings for most the appies we got are around the same. The atmosphere is fun and colourful, right at the heart of the new waterfront. This restaurant is in the waterfront so there is parking nearby in the big lots. You might just have to walk a little bit. Plenty of sitting inside and in their patio!

The food was all DELICIOUS. The guacamole was the freshest we’ve ever had. The service was amazing, everyone who waited on us was beyond fantastic. The environment here is intimate but fun, lively but private. Super cute and an amazing place for a date. We’ll definitely be back anytime we’re in town.

The place is amazingly decorated and nice music as well, however I got a really long hair in my food. And the waitress was salty about it . When I showed it to the waitress she seems more annoyed than apologetic. She first asked me if it was there before? (For context I have a buzz cut so basically no hair, specifically not long and I was wearing a hat. ) Then she asked me- “so do you want a dessert or something?” I was like- eeeh no thanks, I’m grossed out at this point, I would like the check please.

A couple of times a year....one mushroom makes an appearance....the shy and tasty Chanterelle. It can only be forgaged...and one restaurant in Dartmouth, Oxalis, makes a take-home meal worthy of such an auspicious moment. It is called a Boxalis” Dinner Pasta Kit: a cozy, house-made dinner for two that brings the forest to your fork. Each dinner kit includes: – Freshly made tagliatelle for two – A portion of fresh chanterelles + ready-to-heat chanterelle cream sauce – House-baked focaccia with compound truffle butter – Tiramisu to share All you need to do is cook the pasta, sauté the mushrooms, warm the sauce, and enjoy. My husband and I went to Oxalis for our anniversary, and I can honestly say it was the best dining experience of my life. I’m not someone who settles for basic food — I’m a true food lover, and I’ve tried many places — but nothing has ever come close to what we experienced here. The tasting menu was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was composed with such care, and the flavors complemented each other in ways that felt both surprising and perfectly harmonious. Each bite was memorable, and by the end, we both agreed we had never eaten food this delicious before. The menu may be on the expensive side, but it was worth every single dollar for such a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The service was just as remarkable. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, checking in often enough to make sure we were comfortable but never interrupting the flow of our evening. Meeting the chef at the end was the perfect finishing touch — it was clear how much passion and artistry goes into every dish. This dinner wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. Oxalis set the bar so high, I don’t think anything else will compare. Absolutely remarkable.

Great service and a relaxed, casual vibe. We ordered the chef’s menu along with a few other tempting options. The unexpected treats from the chef between courses were a delightful surprise and truly impressive. I highly recommend saving room for their dessert. Some reviews mention the restaurant is overpriced, but I have to disagree. If you’ve done enough cooking at home, you’ll recognize that these dishes are far more than just good presentation—you can taste the time, effort, and skill that go into creating such well-balanced combinations. To get the same level of food and service in better location like downtown Halifax/Toronto/Montreal, you’d easily spend more. One small suggestion: please consider adding window or door screens. We did end up with a few mosquito bites by the end of our meal.

If you are looking for a special place to go in Dartmouth, this is it! Oxalis is a lovely spot to fine dine, nice atmosphere, great food, impeccable presentation. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

I had been surprised when dining here, I’ve heard good things. My husband and I were brought to the patio seating, it was beautiful and I love the aesthetic outside, very Dartmouth. Nicely secluded (and I believe dogs are welcome). However, do not wear heels. As a heels wearer, I’m used to the hills and potholes, but I was not expecting to walk on gravel and also be seated on it. I would guess no one was, it had looked like even the servers didn’t have the best footing in it. The chairs are comfortable though and they offer blankets to keep warm if there’s a chill. We both decided to get the four course meal and started with the picnic. As a starter, it was delicious. It looked a little different than I had seen afterwards and had been curious about some of the cured meats and where it came from (Sobeys multipack?). I loved the four course dinner, it’s a taster of everything else on their menu. At 106$, it was a great amount of food for me! I was full. The only things I didn’t care for was the cucumber soup, as a chilled soup, it was great, but I was already a little cold and it was a little too salty. The presentation was great for all the dishes! We loved the salmon pops, those were fun. The past was divine, if you love a mushroom pasta, that’s one to try (It’s no mushroom ravioli! 🐀✨) it had chanterelles and so buttery. Perfect. I did find the beef a bit salty, but that may be preference or just how it turned out that day. The dessert was extra sweet and delicious, the syrup poured over it was a nice touch but a little overboard and over powering near the end of it. It kind of made everything turn into slop and a wet mess. Not a bad thing, maybe I didn’t eat it fast enough. Overall it was a great unique experience and delicious. Our server was great, he was super sweet, accommodating and made us feel well kept! He had dropped good knowledge on the yummy food and made sure we knew what was what. 5/5 ⭐️! They recommend you have 2.5 hours for the course and also offer wine pairings, which maybe I’ll save for another time. I’d love to go back and see what changes they have for the fall. It’s a unique place and they have some seating inside and upstairs in the building, the front bathroom did feel a little messy, the water kind of sits on the sink area.

So far, this has been the best restaurant we’ve tried in Nova Scotia! Every dish was bursting with flavor, and the meat dishes were perfectly moist and tender. Overall, it was an outstanding dining experience.

This place is such a cozy little 🕳️ in the 🧱. Food was homey, loved the spiced hot chocolate, and just the general vibes of like a little home kitchen. Would recommend giving them a try, it was outside my normal cafe/brunch vibe, but I'm glad I tried something different. Unrelated, as soon as I stepped outside, a ladybug promptly lew into my nose and I could hear it buzz and take its last feeble little bug breaths inside my brain before I hastily blew my nose, coughing and spluttering in front of this homeless guy staring at me. Anyways, that's not the reason for the 4 stars, service was just a little short, still enjoyed my time ✌️☮️

Just finished an amazing lunch here and cant wait to come back. Mexican tacos, tacos Guatemala and pupusas were all next level. Left with some Inca Cola and dark ketchup from their pantry. Looking forward to trying brunch!

If you're craving something different than the usual eggs Benedict then this is one of those gems that you shouldn't miss out, it's a small place but don't be fooled. It's got a big heart and the atmosphere and the people that work here have always been awesome. Ordered the hot fruit tea, coffee, the qasadila and more. Highly recommend it and would definitely be coming back.

One of the best Korean fried chicken around town! We (a family of 3) order the all-flavours chicken box and it lasts us for 2 meals. It doesn't come with rice but you can always make your own rice or order some of theirs. Great flavours! Our favourite flavours are the Korean Chilli and Honey Garlic ones. But the box comes with 2 other options as well - the Original and an Onion/Vinegary option.

We went to Halifax 3 weeks ago and were craving Korean food after having eaten seafood the first two days. We chose this place since it had good reviews but quite frankly it was not well deserved based off the experience we had. Service was lacking. The lady at the cash didn't event greet us. Food was also served in a take out container even if you're dining in. Water is also self serve. They didn't have the item I wanted so we only ended up ordering the bulgogi rice bowl. The dumplings were good, rice was a bit hard but since the dish was so oily, it soften it up. The onion to beef ratio was about 80:20. It also didn't really taste like a regular bulgogi dish and I've been to many Korean restaurants. Def was a bit disappointed.

While the food was tasty, the portion size has drastically decreased since I ordered last time! At least be honest and mention the decreased portion size on your Uber Eats account. Tried this place for the first time after hearing good things, but was really disappointed. The pizza looked great, but it was completely overpowered by oregano. It was so heavily seasoned that it drowned out any other flavour… all I could taste was oregano. It honestly felt like someone spilled an entire container of oregano on the pizza. Unfortunately, it ruined what could have been a great first impression. Would not recommend.

The pizza is always fresh, always delicious and if you buy it by the slice then you get one as big as your head! Not to mention that the staff are the sweetest people around. You won't regret giving them a try, and if you do then give the Chipotle a go for dipping - it's absolutely delicious!

I am a regular at Jessy's pizza because they offer a vegan cheese substitute and it's close to where I live. I will no longer be going there because last night my partner picked up a pizza from them and when he opened it there was something baked into the cheese of the pizza... An elastic band.

Had a fantastic dinner here! The oysters were fresh, paired with caramelized diced onions(I think? ) The carpaccio was a highlight—silky and rich, with hints of foie gras and a delicate jelly that added both texture and depth to the flavor. The balance was just right, making every bite enjoyable. The beef tartare on shrimp toast was a pleasant surprise, with a slight spicy kick that added complexity. For mains, the scallops stood out—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and complemented by just the right amount of creaminess. The chef’s special sirloin was good but didn’t quite match up to the scallops. The only downside was the portion size—it leaned on the smaller side. Beyond expectations overall, and definitely coming back!

Here for happy hour. The halibut cheek & cauliflower really hit the mark for me when paired with theie featured cocktail of the day. Great atmosphere and views.

Came here for dinner for their Dine Around! It was $40 for a 3 course meal and was delicious. From their service to ambience to food, everything was perfect. Our server was attentive and recommended some delicious drinks (Shake Your Tail feather). Would love to come back and try more on their menu!

Loved Peacock! The space is gorgeous, our server was attentive, super friendly and gave terrific recommendations, and all of the food was amazing! We had the oysters, focaccia, burrata, grilled beet salad, the scallops and the tonnarelli. Every plate was presented nicely and delicious. Highly recommend!

Did not know what to expect -- restaurant looks like someone's home after a scenic but mysterious drive winding around the bay -- but the food was creative and presented flavors I've never tried before! The intimate dining experience was also really peaceful and welcome, though I wish the pauses between courses were not as long. Portions were perfectly sized and the nasturtium and halibut were particular highlights, and we left feeling like we had really gotten a taste of summer.

Lupin food tasting was amazing and worth the wait. The space is quaint, though I would not want to sit at the table at the entry door or washroom. The server seemed nervous or rushed and it was hard to understand what they were saying, we were able to revert to the menu to learn about each course. While we went late in the season, the blankets were appreciated to stay warm inside. The jelly jar was a lovely gift.

Very special dining on the Eastern Shore. We had the 7-course menu, and the portions were perfectly measured to enjoy each plate. The presentation of each plate was exquisite and the flavours / freshness was top notch. Service was also wonderful, and ambiance was delightful. A great place for a special night out.

Save your self and please do not go here. I had chole bhature and panner sandwich and now me & my husband both are sick. Our stomach is upset I didn’t even finish my sandwich because it is smell so bad.

First time tried Adda and it surprised me. Simple setup, but the food speaks for itself. The dosa was crispy and fresh, and the chutneys tasted legit. Reminded me of my home back in India. Prices are very reasonable as well. Would definitely visit again. 10/10

Been here a few times now and it’s always consistent. The biryani’s my go-to — tasty and filling every time. Staff are nice and it never feels rushed. Glad there’s a spot like this downtown.

Great presentation, good taste, slightly more expensive for the large butter chicken (~$15 for the large). The butter chicken was spicier than other places around Halifax and there was a stronger taste of cardamom. The dish took around 10-15 minutes but came out piping hot, which is a good sign and came with poppadom. A few seating available but not sure which party is responsible but table may not be super clean. Would come back and try the other dishes recommended.

Small place but big on flavor. I got the butter chicken bowl and it was perfect comfort food. Nothing fancy, just good food made right.

No nonsense, delicious sushi!! Some of the best in the city honestly, small restaurant so try and go early!! A bit pricey but worth it for the quality of fish.

Feels like a low end sushi shop when I walk in but the food was amazing. I had omakaze for takeout and it was fresh and good. My kids had udon and salmon terriyaki, both were very good. They use traditional ways to make the broth and your taste the fish in the soup. The only not so good feedback was the tempura roll that came with the omakaze has too much mayo and rice.

I visited from montreal and was happy I found this sushi place. I ordered various items and found all of them to be extremely delicious. The service was very warm and friendly !! Its my favorite part about visiting halifax! 🥰

This is a real Japanese sushi restaurant. Food is excellent, with beautiful presentation, and service is superb. Chef Shige's wife is always courteous and kind. If dining in, make sure to have reservations, as this location has only around 20 seats. But I noticed they are always busy with takeout.

The best Sushi in Halifax! You can have authentic Edomae sushi which is provided by Japanese chef here! There is also Canadian style sushi. Sushi which is made by Shige-san is not just a dish. It's kind of an art I guess! Definitely come back to this place :)

Got things to dine-in and take out. The sashimi are fresh! Personally i think it’s a little bit expensive. The food are good and the waitress is very nice and caring. Ps the salad for the meal set is literally 4 pieces of veggies hahahaha. Very cute small portion of salad.

A small space with amazing food and great staff. If you dread the thought of crossing over to Halifax because of the traffic I am here to tell you it is worth it for the food. I have waited over an hour in rush hour traffic just to make it here. The chicken burgers are the best I've ever had. Make sure to follow them on socials as there is a different special burger every week. Their fries are amazing and seasoned perfectly. The mac n cheese is delicious. Just overall great food with friendly staff and a cozy environment.

Best fried chicken sandwiches in the city IMO. Mac and cheese is solid, as well as their Brussels sprouts. Brussels sprouts don’t travel super well, better to eat in store vs to go. I usually get the Nashville unless their special is looking good. Orders are usually pretty quick, they do a great job of takeout

It's been over 21 days, and I am still waiting... very poor customer service. Chicken was overcooked, coating wasn't even... fries were very greastly, soggy, and ice cold. Very expensive trash.

I’ve came to Chkn Chop a few times over the years, I absolutely love their poutine, my 2nd favourite in the city. Their portion sizes are huge. Sometimes the poutines a little too salty to my liking though. No pepper & salt shakers at the tables, only mayo and vinegar. On this visit I saw a Reddit recommendation saying this was the best Mac and cheese in HRM. Maybe I just had a bad batch but it was lukewarm and didn’t have exceptional flavour. It was still good though. I’ll be back in the future for more delicious poutine in the future!

First of I love the spot on the harbour! They have two menus the downstairs one i would say is more casual and the upstairs is more upscale. We came here our first night in town and tried the down stairs menu for some fish and chips and we thought they were phenomenal. It was the perfect amount of batter on the fish and chips the fries were not salty at all it was done crisp to perfection! The upstairs menu we came back and tried and for the price I would say is not worth it, the seafood Quattro was absolutely overpriced in my opinion it did not come with a lot and the lobster was basically all shell except for that one claw and barely had anything on the tail. The salmon was tiny and but they were delicious I have to say! Over all I do think try other dishes and pass on this one. Their desserts that we tried are so good and the oysters were amazing. For sure our highlight dishes for the upstairs. Our servers for both up and down were both so kind and so attentive they made sure we were well taken care of.

Really beautiful spot with amazing scenery if you happen to get a seat outside by the water. The service was not very good. No quality checks on the food; which is unfortunate. We started with bacon wrapped scallops...hands down the star of the show. Very expensive BUT definitely delicious. My guy ordered the blackened salmon. It was tasteless and a waste of money. I got the maple curry pasta. I was extremely disappointed. There was almost no chicken or vegetables in it. My niece got the fish tacos and they were phenomenal according to her... however the crispy fries that came with them were a huge disappointment. All in all, we would not recommend this spot nor would we return. There are plenty of spots along the harbour you should take your dollars to vs spending them at this joint.

We had to try Salty's after hearing about it from friends. We ate in the restaurant upstairs and we were given a great table with a beautiful view of the water. Overall the food was okay but the atmosphere and service were great. Rob was very kind, bringing us 7 oysters instead of 6 because they were a little smaller. When he came back he asked who got to eat the extra one, and when we told him I ate it, he brought an extra one out for my partner 😂. Really nice touch and helped make our night more enjoyable! Recommend the seafood platter but wouldn't recommend the lobster linguine personally.

We were fortunate to have Erica as our waitress; she was exceptionally sweet and attentive, adding a personal touch to our visit. Despite calling on the same day, the restaurant graciously accommodated our party of 12, which was impressive. We were seated upstairs, where the view was simply fantastic. Our group ordered a variety of dishes, and each one was delicious and beautifully presented. The highlight for me was the margarita, which was among the best I've ever had—I only wish I had ordered a second one! Overall, this place is highly recommended for its amazing views, great service, and delicious food. We'll definitely be back!

The food was good and tasted fresh. I enjoyed the crab cake, which I recommend, followed by the lobster linguine. I tend to prefer a more parmigian- type sauce, but the butter cream sauce was pretty good. My server was excellent, and the view upstairs was serene. A very nice dinner.

We were craving fresh seafood and this place have the best selections. Open bar and wide variety of drinks. Service was fast and friendly. We had raw scallops, little neck and cherry clams. Very good. The fish and chips is also very good. Best of all the whole lobsters were very fresh and perfectly cooked. Must try when in this area.

I can't say enough good things about this place! Stopped in for the first time on a whim during Buskers with my dog, as they offered a pet friendly patio. Great view for people watching and not crowded at all. I appreciated the dog rules posted so everyone knew what was expected of them. Ordered the lobster roll with a Caesar salad. BEST lobster roll I've had in ages!! Generous amount of lobster, fresh, cold, well seasoned mixed with mayo on a warm, soft bun. Caesar salad was the perfect size and tasty. Great service as well! I can't wait to go back again.

We had a great time at Waterfront Warehouse on the Halifax waterfront during our Maritimes trip. The place has a fun and casual vibe, perfect for hanging out and sharing food with friends or family. We ordered the watermelon salad, which was super refreshing and light. The lobster fries were rich and full of flavour, and the lobster rolls were fresh and tasty. The scallops were the star of the meal—cooked perfectly, tender, and full of flavour. We also tried the fried calamari, which was crispy and not greasy at all. Everything came in generous portions, which made it great for sharing. The service was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. Sitting by the water added to the experience, and it was just a really enjoyable meal overall. If you’re visiting Halifax and want good seafood in a relaxed spot, this is a solid choice. I’d definitely come back.

I had the fish and chips and I couldn’t fault it. My wife chose the tuna poke and it was delicious and large enough to satisfy even the hungriest diner we also had a stood fresh clams which were fresh and in my opinion tastier than oysters. You must try the molasses bread with whipped maple butter. The beer selection was also great. Wow. Best meal in every way. Great servers.

We had such a great experience here! The servings were very generous, so it’s definitely worth the price. On top of that, the service was impressively fast and friendly, which made the whole dining experience even better. Plus, it’s just a short walking distance from the Broadwalk, making it super convenient to stop by. Highly recommend for anyone looking for tasty food, big portions, and quick service!

Waterfront Warehouse is a good option to go to if you’re looking to eat somewhere with a more laid back vibe. Their servers are friendly & do come around often. They also have a ton of seating so walk ins didn’t take long to get seated. They also have a good variety of options on their menu, but being on the east coast meant choosing all their seafood options. We of course had to get their oysters & the server was knowledgeable on the different oysters given. We also ordered the lobster poutine which was a 9/10. It was very good but not as much lobster in it as I thought. The fish & chips was a massive portion and the fish was so fresh! The batter was light & didn’t drown out the fish itself.

Sophia our server and Krista the Manager are THE BEST!!! We were visiting Halifax for a conference and a group of us decided to head over for some dinner. There was a very small issue with one of our meals. Sophia was very helpful and apologetic. Krista was brought alerted and she came to our table immediately to tend to our friend. The port of Halifax in general is an amazing place to visit. Many different dining options and beautiful views of a very busy harbour. The Maritimes museum on the boardwalk is well worth a visit as is the immigration museum at Pier 21. Parking for the farmers market and pier 21 is available at lot D across the road. Parking cost is 12$ per day but you can also choose the hours you wish. Pay by debit or credit card at the provided terminals which are well marked. The lots are patrolled and tickets are issued for non payments or over hours .

As a vendor it is awesome, love meeting new customers. There is a great variety of fresh and cooked goods along with homemade artisan products for all ages. A great opportunity to come and support local while having a uniquely wonderful shopping experience. All the vendors there are fantastic!

The Halifax Seaport Market was enjoyable to visit, lots of friendly vendors, good local products, and a nice waterfront atmosphere. I liked it overall, but I was expecting it to be a bit bigger with more variety. Still worth checking out if you’re nearby, especially for a quick stroll and a bite to eat!

I've been to NovaBunsik and had such an amazing BBQ chicken bun I've ever had! This BBQ chicken bun tasted like something from a fine dining restaurant, and the ingredients inside were incredibly tender and delicious. My son even ate two! The staff here made their own sauces, which really enhanced the flavor, and some other menu which we tried were excellent as well.

What a lovely place! 100% recommended! Always love travelling and stopping at the farmer's market of that place. Couldn't taste everything, but our highlight was the egyptian food! So so good! Oh, and the fruit with melted chocolate and toppings :-)

We went on a Sunday, and definitely found some stuff that was great, but it was a lot smaller than anticipated.

Friends and I popped in for dinner to check out the pizza oven deliciousness we've been hearing about. We found a table on the patio easily on a gorgeous summer evening and quickly ordered up three pizzas to share - the BBQ chicken, the pork one and the pepperoni one. My fav was the BBQ chicken but the other two were a close second. One of our group also ordered three oysters which she thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely a great dinner spot!

The lobster dinner was incredible. The mussels were huge AND delicious. The lobster had delicious flavour. The place was clean and, even though we came late in the season, the atmosphere was still great. The team there is also very down-to-earth and puts in all the energy to make the experience awesome. I didn’t have a lobster supper, but attended the DFA1979 show on July 31 and had a great time. Very cool venue with fantastic sound, DFA are a loud band and I’ve seen them before with a less than stellar mix, this show sounded crystal clear, security was quick to attend to a few folks who were getting pretty rowdy and pushy, nothing you don’t see at other rock shows, but good to know they were looking out for the folks who were there for the music. 10/10 no notes

It was my wife's birthday and she loves 🦞 and so I did a Google search and find this place. The reviews were good and the trip wasn't too long so I surprised her. The place lived up to the online ratings. Wonderful people, great atmosphere and 5/5 food experience. Reese (hope I got the spelling right) welcomed us in and we had a wonderful evening together eating lobster, having tea and cider. They have a kids meal part of the menu and even though it's small it will keep the kids busy while you Chow down. Will I be back? most definitely. At least once a year for my wife's birthday. May be the start of a tradition? And finally there was a lady there who had her 98th birthday and the whole building sang her a song. Was good to be a part of that experience! Pro tip : this place fills up fast during lobster season. Reserve your spot ahead of time.

What a great way to end the day after hiking Cape Split. It is their 89th year!!! Super friendly service, delicious salads, fresh mussels, those fluffy soft rolls, and of course the lobster, finishing with lemon cake and chocolate brownie. Glad we were able to enjoy the experience before they finish the season.

You should go for the live music at least ones Lots of great bands play on Saturday nights. All are welcome from the age of 19-99. The new addition they added outside is beautiful. Always a fun night.

Enjoy some lunch on the deck at the Shore Club, had pizza from there wood fired pizza oven. Had the barbecue chicken pizza and it was so yummy! Will be back again for sure.

I stopped by Two if By Sea cafe, and while it was a hip spot, I left feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The cafe itself is trendy, but seating is limited, so be prepared to grab-and-go. I ordered an iced matcha latte, but unfortunately, it didn't blow me away. The flavor was just average, and I've had better matcha lattes elsewhere. On the bright side, the croissants were a highlight! They're huge and flaky, and the almond croissant was perfect for me since it wasn't too sweet. However, I have to say that the plain croissant didn't impress me as much - I've had better ones from Costco (and you can't beat the value there!). The Nutella and raspberry danish were just okay - nothing special. Overall, I'd say Two if By Sea cafe is a solid choice if you're in the area, but it's not necessarily a destination worth seeking out.

A really nice cafe, got there just when they were bringing out their fresh batch of pastries and man they are huge. The provolone croissant was bigger than my hand and the chocolate croissant was also very large. Loved the outside seating and their food and ambience.

🛑 BEST CROISSANTS IN CANADA! 🛑 if you are visiting Halifax do yourself a favour and cross the bridge into Dartmouth and go try these croissants! Best you’ll ever had! Won’t regret the trip over! You’re going to want to go back to visit Halifax only for these croissants! Don’t forget to pair them with a Cafe Moca, they’re great as well! Hint, go early! By 1:00 pm or so, they could sold out!

We really enjoyed the coffee and the numerous varieties of pastries. We had the pain au chocolat and a everything croissant, and it was delicious. The vibe was also very nice, we sat upstairs with all the paper plates with art on them, we had a good time looking at the drawings! The americano is great, will go again!

Not really sure what the hype is about. The croissants are too dense, the flavor is good but croissants are supposed to be light and flaky. These were far from it. We have tried the prosciutto cheese one and almond croissant. Wouldn't purchase again but their coffee was good and people nice. Also, there is pizza place upstairs - definitely recommend it

You will not find better croissants. The problem is choosing which one. The pain au chocolat is deliciously and generously filled with milk chocolate. The Everything Bagel flavored croissant is amazing as well, filled with cream cheese. This time around I had the special, which was a pumpkin cheesecake croissant. A bit sweet, but oh so good. The seating isn't super comfortable, but if you can snag a table by the open window it's nice. Very busy spot.

Such a cool little spot. Coffee was fantastic, staff was so friendly. Hands down the best chocolate croissant I’ve ever had. Definitely adding to our fav world coffee list!
