Tapas restaurant
San Chez A Tapas Bistro is a vibrant and casual eatery that specializes in Mediterranean, Spanish, and Latin American cuisine. The restaurant offers a variety of small sharing plates and tapas in a fun, laid-back atmosphere with colorful decor.
Pricey for the portion that you get, but the taste is worth the trip! The goat cheese appetizer paired with the baguette was so simple, yet so good. Definitely a must to start the meal. Also recommend the peppered steak with the tortellini. It was cooked perfectly! Least favorite was the ahi tuna. Couldn’t taste much jerk and was not a fan of the chunky carrots. Definitely will be back to try more!

First visit to Grand Rapids—impressed w service, drinks, and food here. Liked the atmosphere except music was a little bit loud. Loved their fresh salad w red grapes, blue cheese, and honey toasted cashews. My friend and I really loved the small plate dishes! All were great!
D H — Google review
Stopped in for dinner while visiting from out of town. They were debuting a new menu the night we came. We tried several of the new dishes. Everything was delicious but the acorn dish really stood out. The service was friendly and efficient as well. We really enjoyed our time here and would return!
Brett S — Google review
Had a great time! The food was great, service absolutely top-tier, and there are truly options for everybody! I had multiple dishes pictured, but my absolute FAV was definitely the empanadas. I would order them all on their own to-go! They blew me away! I suggest grabbing a few dishes, as it is a tapas restaurant, so you should come with a family style dinner mindset! (Which I personally love) Also, I shared a video of the introduction they give when they bring over your paella/tapas dishes. He was so kind and well-spoken! I just thought it was the sweetest thing. 12/10, will be back!
Gabby J — Google review
The chef creates uniquely yummy food, but the price is high. They have a unique presentation. The food is hearty and very satisfying. The kitchen does a great job with the pork. The steak dish is a full meal. Also, the shrimp are well taken care of and slightly delightfully sweet. They offer a scrumptious chocolate peanut butter dessert.

San Chez Bistro is beautiful inside and out. Their staff is knowledgeable about allergies, and they have a guide to the major allergens that tells you what is safe to eat (green), what you can eat with modifications (yellow), or what you can't eat (red). If you need a modification, it tells you what modifications need to be made. The food was delicious, I had the vieiras y tocino which is seared scallops and pork bełly. I also had a side of gluten free bread which came with a delicious dipping sauce. My mom had the Queso De Cabra which is baked goat cheese, tomato sauce, and garlic toast. The waitress did inform us that it could be made gluten-free by using the gluten-free bread but she went with the garlic bread instead. The decor inside the restaurant is beautiful and even in the bathroom there are many murals which make it an enjoyable experience wherever you go 😆.

Brunch or tapas. You can’t go wrong. I’ve been when everything was perfect. Only once I’ve been when a couple items are less than par. Overall, we are usually very happy when eating here.
Jenessa — Google review
This was the first time I've been to San Chez! My friend Teresa told me about this restaurant and we finally got a chance to go there together. We had two different types of shrimp dishes, on steak dish, pork belly, potato balls, dates filled with goat cheese, we gave the bartender free reign on rum drinks 🍸, and one very large beer! Everything was amazing. The wait staff was attentive, and we also had her bring dishes when we picked out the main protein part. She made so many amazing choices for us. We had one person in our group who has some dietary restrictions, and the chef even came out to talk to us about some options. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I really want to come back. I even tried absinthe for the first time.

Situated in a renovated building on the west side of the city, Butcher's Union exudes historic charm and provides comfort through its offerings of quality meats paired with an extensive whiskey selection.
Beautifully decorated, delicious food, friendly staff!! Luke waited on us and he was so nice and helpful! The salmon and Wagyu New York Strip was delicious. My espresso martini, while very strong, was also delicious. The chocolate mousse cake melted in my mouth it was so good. A definite try if you’re in the area!

We went here for a friends 30th birthday and loved the whole experience. We were able to reserve a table for 6, and the host was super helpful when we called ahead asking about bringing decorations and a cake! Food was excellent and service was fast and attentive! My husband got the burger and I got the shrimp scampi. Both were amazing!
Amelie F — Google review
Thank you for the great time I had tonight! First time in Michigan and for my first stop I was not disappointed. Trendy food choices eclectic drink menu and the atmosphere was just delightful. The regulars at the bar spoke highly of this place and made our minds up for us on our first dishes here. I had the wagyu sirloin which was recommended along with the prime rib which was also ordered. Food came out quickly and it was crazy busy for a Monday night with at least one party waiting at a time for any table, bar or patio seat to open up. I can see why this place is so popular and I know why I'll be back.
Albert S — Google review
Place was packed and we snagged a chair at the bar while waiting for a table. Cocktails were delicious. We met Bruce, a regular who gave us recommendations for food, which were all delicious. Everything was excellent and it was obvious by how busy it was on a Monday night. Love the water in empty bourbon bottles. Will definitely be stealing that idea!
Erica B — Google review
Oh my. Our first time won't be the last! The food was incredible, scallops and meatloaf, but the staff. The best!! Friendly, helpful, and so thoughtful. If I had one complaint it's that the music was a bit too loud. It made conversation a bit of a challenge. But that's a minor detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
Vicky S — Google review
Great atmosphere, staff was very friendly. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was amazing. Ordered the 14 oz Ribeye and definitely one of the better steaks I've ever had. Highly recommend this place.
Phil M — Google review
Amazing drinks, food, staff, and atmosphere! I got an espresso martini and my fiancé got the pink lotus. The tajin on the rim of the pink lotus was so good! The whipped feta served with focaccia was perfect. The pistachios and chives went so well with the spice of the n'duja vinaigrette. For my main I got the 8oz grilled Wagyu Sirloin with a red wine reduction, crispy onion flakes, jacked potato gratin, and garlic green beans. Absolutely amazing! It was my birthday and they gave me 50% off my meal. My fiancé got the 14oz ribeye with crispy yukon potatoes, grilled asparagus from Visser Family Farms, served with garlic butter, béarnaise, and chives. For dessert we got the chocolate mousse cake coffee with crème anglaise, chocolate hazelnut brownie, chocolate ganache, hazelnut praline crumble. The hazelnut praline crumble went so well with the richness of the chocolate. Everything was truly delicious and the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating.

Butcher’s Union was a fantastic experience! Conveniently located on the west side of downtown Grand Rapids, it's a popular spot so keep in mind that parking can be limited, and you might need to walk a short distance. We visited on a Saturday with a reservation and were seated in the beautiful atrium room. The atmosphere was lively and bustling, which added to the energy of the night. The food did not disappoint! I highly recommend the whipped feta appetizer, so flavorful! We also tried the Wagyu beef tartare, salmon, pork shoulder, and the burger. Every dish was exceptionally well prepared and delicious. The garlic aioli with the fries is a must try. The cocktails were also top-notch, perfectly crafted and definitely not watered down like you find at some other places. All in all, a memorable dining experience. We'll definitely be back! ✨👌

The Green Well is an eco-friendly gastropub in Grand Rapids, offering a diverse menu and a selection of local and European beers. It was one of the city's first gastropubs and has since become very popular. The restaurant is known for its Pig & Fig appetizer and Truffle Fries, as well as dishes like the Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich, BBQ Pork & Polenta, and Green Well Double Burger.
I had my first brunch experience at The Green Well, and it definitely won’t be my last. The service was warm, welcoming, and attentive. I ordered the Pork belly Benedict with potatoes, and it was outstanding. The pork belly was rich and flavorful with just the right amount of crisp, and it paired beautifully with the perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise and sautéed onions. The potatoes were golden and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Everything came out hot and beautifully presented, and the entire experience felt both relaxed and elevated. Highly recommend The Green Well for anyone looking for a top-notch brunch spot with great food and excellent service.

Friendly, retro infused diner/bar with a slightly elevated menu. Delicious food with a small menu, which I think helps restaurants do their dishes exceptionally. Fresh ingredients and a lively atmosphere make this a great spot to visit just a few minutes outside downtown Grand Rapids. I would easily give this great spot to grab a bite and a drink 5 stars, if only they had one or two more vegan/vegetarian friendly options. Would absolutely recommend this place for a date, casual visit, or to hang out in the bar area with friends. Thanks for the great food and cool atmosphere. Would love to come back and dine outside once the weather improves!
Matthew N — Google review
High quality food cooked perfectly. I tried the roasted dry rub airline chicken with broccolini and salad. It tasted delicious and perfectly cooked. My wife ordered the salad with chicken and said it was great. My daughter tried the lasagna and it was outstanding. The noodles were homemade and the sauce very excellent. We highly recommend the dishes we tried. Our server, Cooper, was on point regarding efficient attention. The patio was the perfect place to have dinner. It was next to a small park and had trees sheltering the sunlight. One note, credit card use has an extra fee.

When first walking in, the host was very friendly and quickly got us to our seats. It was busyand it was oddly quiet but quite nice. The restaurant was very clean and the wait staff was amazing. Food: We ordered the smash burger and it was perfect. There was no oily mess and it wasn't comically topped with ingredients. The fries that came with it were a nice mix of soft and crisp and came with a delicious Dijon aioli dipping sauce. The meatloaf was moist and sat on a generous amount of creamy mashed potatoes. It was also paired with some semi sweet carrots that went nicely with it. The top of the meatloaf had a nice crust and right amount of ketchup (maybe?) And had a great sweet smokey flavor to it. I recommend both dishes. I will be revisiting this place plenty a time in the future!

Nice place to go on a Tuesday night - not too crowded at all. Outdoor seating was more full. The food was flavorful and they had a good selection of appetizers, drinks, entres, and desserts. Our waiter was very down to earth and helpful.

Cool little place! Loved the vibe here, and awesome service. Great food and cocktails!

Update This place is really worth a visit. We recently visited and would recommend the Al Pastor bowl and the Autumn Harvest Spaetzle. The fried rice from kids menu is great as well. Previous review: This is truly a gem in Grand Rapids. We went here for a lunch on a weekend and were seated in the patio. The place is laid back and quiet. For appetizer we had the street corn dip. The dip was tasty and the torilla chips were great! For main course, we ordered the green well curry with tofu ( was pan seared) and the Nashville hot fried mushroom. Both had very distinctive flavors that we really enjoyed. In the end it was really hard for us to pick one dish that we enjoyed the most as everything we tried was really good.

Dinner before a show at the Wealthy Theatre on a Saturday night. Restaurant was busy, but no waiting for a table in their nice area outside…this was after 7pm. Service was excellent and our food came out quickly. Really enjoyed our meals. Menu offered an excellent variety. Lots of interesting ingredients and great flavors. Prices were reasonable IMO. We’ll be back

Fine dining restaurant
Bistro Bella Vita, located in downtown Grand Rapids, offers a warm and airy atmosphere with a focus on farm-to-table Mediterranean dishes. The restaurant prides itself on delivering an exceptional dining experience with top-notch service, whether it's a casual meal with friends or an elegant chef's table dinner. The culinary team creates authentic recipes using fresh, natural ingredients sourced from local farmers.
Of course! Here’s a casual four-star review you can use for Bistro Bella Vita in Grand Rapids: Five Stars - Great Food, Great People, and Allergy-Friendly Too Really solid spot in downtown Grand Rapids. Bistro Bella Vita has some amazing food—especially their pastas and pizzas, which are definitely worth the trip alone. The pasta is always cooked just right, and the flavors are on point. I also highly recommend checking out their weekly specials. I’ve tried things there I normally wouldn’t order, and I’ve never been disappointed. One thing I really appreciated is how well they handled food allergies. The staff was super accommodating and made us feel totally at ease, which isn’t always the case at restaurants. The atmosphere is really nice—comfortable but still has that “special night out” feel. And the servers are excellent: friendly, knowledgeable, and just genuinely nice people. All around a great place to grab dinner. Will definitely be back!
Randy P — Google review
We stopped here to grab a cocktail and sit outside since it was so nice out. We were greeted quickly and our server with the beautiful curly hair was really friendly. She helped my sister pick out a cocktail based on her preferences and gave us some recommendations. We didn’t eat any food because we just had lunch but I’ve heard their martinis were good so we wanted to come check it out. Both our drinks were delicious! I’m a sucker for a drink with a house made shrub! We gotta come back next time to try their food!

Wow! We had an overnight in Grand Rapids and found this restaurant while walking around downtown. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat without feeling “stuffy”. We chose to sit outside for our dinner, and the patio seating was perfect for the amazing weather that early evening. Our server was friendly and offered suggestions and made us feel welcomed. We ordered the bruschetta to split and it was delicious! I opted for a simple meal for dinner and the Margherita pizza did not disappoint! It reminded me of the pizza I had while in Naples, Italy. The dough was light and flavorful with just the right amount of sauce and cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese (forgot to snap a pic!) and she loved it! I tried a bite and the sauce was amazing with a hint of spice. Price is on point for the quality and amount of food you receive. Highly recommend!
Courtney C — Google review
The kale salad and prosciutto pizza were delicious! The beef brisket and black spaghetti dishes were well cooked but needed just a touch more salt and pepper to bring the flavors to life, but the server brought the grinders and we fixed that up in a jiffy.
M G — Google review
I took my mother here for mothers day dinner. Everything was delicious. The black pasta with seafood, and the risotto rocked. Our server Kylee was awesome. We will definitely be back and request her again. Go here. You won't regret it.
Carlo P — Google review
We made a targeted stop here specifically for the bar program, and the experience was truly top-tier. The ability to grab a seat outside on such a beautiful day was a bonus, but the service quickly became the highlight. We were greeted instantly, and our server—who had the most beautiful curly hair—was genuinely friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. She served as an excellent mixology consultant, expertly guiding my sister to a cocktail that perfectly matched her flavor preferences. The drinks themselves were delicious. As a cocktail enthusiast, I was particularly impressed by the drink featuring a house-made shrub—a sure sign of dedication to a high-quality, inventive bar program. We didn't sample the food this time, having just come from lunch, but based on the stellar reputation of their martinis and the quality of our cocktails, we are already planning our return trip to fully explore the dinner menu. This spot offers high-end execution with a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.

We were at your amazing Bistro on Oct.5 with our son & granddaughter. Our wait staff was Lane & he was wonderful. He suggested a beautiful white wine for me (I'm Canadian) & it paired wonderfully with my meal. I wish I knew the name of my meal; it was just so delicious! It was a pasta wrapped in a circle with a delicious meat sauce inside & seated on a tomato-based sauce. Best pasta dish I ever had. If you know the name of the dish, please tell me. We all enjoyed our meals, filet minion, trout & a chicken dish, along with appetizers & tiramisu & crème boule that my granddaughter & I shared!!! I can't wait until we can return to the Grand Rapids area to enjoy another meal there! Wish I had taken pictures, but everything was so good, I didn't think of it!

The Electric Cheetah is a quirky and popular diner known for its unique concoctions and homestyle American comfort food. The restaurant offers a variety of craft root beers and features wacky dish names like The Great Cornholio, Porker in a Pot, and Orgullocida. Visitors can enjoy Sunday brunch with an open kitchen environment, offering dishes such as Fried Chicken and Toasty, Electric Cheetah Macaroni and Cheese, Classic Caesar, or the Diablo Sandwich.
Very cool vibe, the disco bathroom was a fun touch! Tegan the skanky vegan was a great option, filling and delicious. The menu is fun with lots of options. I loved that there were vegan options for kids. The vibe is causal and cozy. Our waitress was kind and timely.

What a great place!! It’s a pop back to the good ole days. From scratch cooking, great vibes and the only place you can where using their restroom is super fun. Well done! Wish there was one on the east side of the state. Our server Robin was personable and attentive to make sure we enjoyed our meals and the experience. Thanks so much. We hope to be back soon.

The service was great. Had the autumn sangria and that was really tasty. My hubby had the brown ale special and he really liked that. I got the fried chicken pickle Mac. The fried pickles were ok, had better, but loved the cheese curds and chicken! The Mac and cheese could use a little more flavor but it was still really good. My husband got the Mac burger and he also said it could use some more flavor. We would definitely be back

Best mac and cheese I’ve ever had. I’m mostly vegan, rarely eat dairy, but this….next level delicious. I’m pretty sure they took this one off the menu :( chipotle ketchup on top. They do change the menu frequently which I think is a good thing! Tried a vegan “tv dinner” as well which was amazing. Everything has been great. Slightly pricey but can’t complain too much with how great it is.

Electric cheetah is one of those restaurants in Grand Rapids that you can go to and almost everyone will find something that they really like on the menu. I highly recommend checking them out for lunch and looking at their combination menus. We got the pick four which we were able to pick from various sandwiches, salads, soups, and sides. Great food, great prices, great quality.
Sen S — Google review
Great eclectic take on classic American foods! I had the leftover meatloaf sandwich. What a surprise to the tastebuds to get the funky lamb in there with the bitter complexity of brussel sprouts, and the smokey heat of the chipotle ketchup. My wife had the classic grilled cheese with added texture and flavor of a tomato and pickled red onion. Reasonably priced for the area. Great service. FABULOUS decor. Seriously, they spent some good money well on the design of that place. Will be back for sure.

So in one of my trips into GR I searched healthy food restaurants in the area and this place popped up. Glanced at the menu and grabbed my friend and headed over. Started out with a little wine and a Thai salad. Thankfully my friend and I like splitting food because the salad was huge and absolutely delicious. Honestly when we finish they had to rip the plate away from us before we started licking it. Lol. Not really but I think you get my point. Then I got the iconic fried chicken tv dinner meal and my friend got the Ruben. Absolutely wonderful. I won't leave a review if im not happy with my stop and im so happy to have stopped here. Fabulous. Keep it up.
Silver T — Google review
Had the brisket Mac and cheese, was pretty decent, could have been a little more cheesy for me. I was hoping for a few different root beers, but they had been busy the previous couple of days and were out of most of their root beers. Apple spice cake was delicious and the monster cookie was really good.

Located in the heart of Grand Rapids, The Chop House Grand Rapids is a popular and upscale steakhouse known for its elegant ambiance and top-notch service. This renowned dining destination offers a menu featuring premium beef, expertly prepared seafood dishes, and indulgent sides. The plush chophouse is adorned with elegant gas lamps and also boasts a dessert and cigar bar. While the prices may be on the higher end, it's an ideal spot for those seeking a sophisticated dining experience.
Everything we ordered was out of this world amazing! The prime rib was perfect, asparagus was delicious, and we loved the crème brûlée! The service was outstanding, and ambience very nice.

I chose this restaurant for my birthday and we started with the wrong foot. My sister made a reservation and the hostess didn't have it on their system, so we just had to wait for a couple of minutes while they prepared our table. Once the restaurant door closed it made a loud noise and that was part of our soundtrack every time a customer walked in. 😳 Rather unpleasant. The venue was dark and the music was gloomy. I started with the lobster bisque and it was perfection, so good! I tried the lobster bites and they were a tad too salty for me. For main course I ordered the beef Wellington with mushrooms and mashed potatoes on the side, it was nice. Drinks were delicious and the 6 desserts I tried were amazing. Probably the best desserts I've had in town. The service was good. I'd suggest to take care of the musty odor coming from I believe the carpet on the lower floor I noticed on my way to the bathroom, which was impeccable.

I have lived all over the country and have eaten in fine dining establishments from coast to coast. This was probably the best service I have ever had. I'm here to tell you, it is an experience! The wait staff are complete professionals at what they do, with detailed knowledge of their delicious menu. They present the food in a choreographed manner that was just delightful to witness. The atmosphere is what you'd expect - dimly lit, tastefully decorated modern dining room. The food was delicious. My steak and lobster were both perfectly seasoned and cooked. The scalloped potatoes were to die for, I would come back just to eat those! All in all, a wonderful dining experience. Do remember this is obviously a very expensive place, think $300+ for two people. But worth it to splurge every so often if you can, I think! Highly recommended.

The Delicious Spot for a Special Occasion or Business Dinner If you're debating whether to eat here, just do it. I visited on a business trip and it was a standout dining experience. Here's a quick guide to making the most of it. What to Order: The star of the show is the 16oz Australian Wagyu steak—it’s an incredible cut of meat and cooked flawlessly. For starters, the piping hot cheese bread is a must-have, and the calamari is a great choice for sharing. The Atmosphere: This is a fantastic choice if you want an intimate setting. The noise level is moderate, making it ideal for quality conversation. It strikes a great balance between being upscale and comfortable. Best For: • Date Nights & Anniversaries • Important Business Dinners • Celebrating a Special Occasion The service was excellent and very attentive. While there are plenty of dining options in the area, this place delivers a premium experience that is absolutely worth the price. Highly recommend.

My husband and I came here for him to try Beef Wellington and to celebrate our anniversary. I thought it was sweet they had flower petals on the table for us. I did not like how dark it was, but it wasn’t horrible. My husband said the scallops were amazing, the beef in his beef Wellington seemed not to be seasoned and the peanut butter dessert he got was delicious. I enjoy the lamb, a pumpkin martini and the espresso cake! Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. We also liked the tablet menus that you could tap the item to see a picture and information on the items. Absolutely recommend for anyone questioning trying!

I really appreciated the friendly and attentive service — the staff were excellent, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. However, I was a bit let down by the food. The steak lacked depth of flavor and wasn’t as tender as I expected. As someone who has had extensive experience with Wagyu in Asia, I was particularly excited to try it here — but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The texture was limp rather than melt-in-your-mouth, and there was more sinew and gristle than I’d expect from a high-grade cut. For the price point, I was hoping for a more memorable dining experience. Still, it’s a pleasant spot if you’re looking for great service and a vibrant setting.

Probably the best textbook steakhouse in downtown GR. Steaks were spot on, service was both entertaining and professional, and it nails the dimly lit old timey steak time atmosphere.

MDRD, located on the 27th floor of the Amway Grand Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids, offers breathtaking views of the city skyline. The restaurant's modern Spanish cuisine and lavish cocktails are complemented by its sleek design and personalized service. With tiered seating, private rooms, and a balcony for eight, MDRD provides an upscale dining experience.
We had a lovely first visit. It was as expected after hearing nothing but high praise since they first opened their doors. We planned a birthday celebration, noted on our OpenTable reservation and received well wishes all throughout our service. We were seated in a private space overlooking the city and were treated with respect and welcome! The food is all top notch quality and flavor and preparation and presentation! All of these details made our first visit an outstanding memory, especially for a milestone birthday of a deserving family member! Our service was wonderful and pleasant and easy going. We appreciated being treated to a high-end experience with a comfortable approach. (We were sure to wear the appropriate business/casual specified on our reservation confirmation but did notice on our way out that other patrons wore more casual attire. I applaud the openness but always like to know how to feel most suitable. Overall, we were definitely glad to not be surprised when we arrived and felt our occasion warranted a dressier vibe.)

Quite the dining experience in Grand Rapids. The view was incredible - and the restaurant is designed to give almost every seat a view (very impressive!) Tapas style dishes were extremely flavorful. Perhaps not fully authentic but not in a bad way - their twist on Spanish food is quite a good take. Drinks were fantastic as well. Definitely will go back - albeit likely for a special occasion.

Best views in Grand Rapids. I absolutely loved this very chic restaurant. The flamenco reserva drink was so refreshing. The food presentation was a surprise. Very beautiful and explosion of flavors in your mouth. We really enjoyed the appetizers, we ordered the wild boar empanadas very tasty. We absolutely loved the spiced ginger carrots. So flavorful with a hint of spicy in it. The pepino salad was a nice surprise if you love pickled foods. The only reason I gave a 4 rating was because the Wagyu steak lacked flavor. The limon dessert Wowww what a fun experience! so delicious!!! Overall we had an amazing experience and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Very romantic. Our reservation was at 7:00 p.m. so the Sun was shining very strong on our table. They do have shades if needed. Our waiter Jeff was so knowledgeable. He explained every single entree with every detail. He did a great job. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. We ordered a nice bottle of tempranillo overall our bill was not a shocker. About $300 for the spanish amazing experience. Worth every penny.

An unforgettable dining experience! From the moment we walked in, everything at MDRD felt special—elegant ambiance, stunning city views, and impeccable service. The food was outstanding—every dish beautifully presented and bursting with bold, creative flavors. And the dessert? Absolutely divine. It’s the kind of place where the entire evening feels like a celebration. Can’t wait to return!

It's a really amazing place. I took my wife here for our anniversary and our server Brandon was amazing. The food was delicious, and we were both ready to explode from how full we were. They had our table ready and it even had a very nice hand made sign that said happy anniversary. Amazing place.

One of my favorite restaurants to celebrate a special occasion. Food, service, and views are always great. Menu changes often though. I am sad they got rid of their beef tartar tapas and dry age ribeye steak entree. This time around we ordered the pork belly tapa, patatas bravas tapa, octopus tapa, waygu steak entree, and pork chop entree. It was a lot of food for two people so we had leftovers.

Founders Brewing Co is a renowned craft brewery located in Grand Rapids, offering a spacious hangout with views of the brewing facilities and serving delectable sandwiches. The company has experienced remarkable growth over the years, becoming one of the largest craft breweries globally with distribution in numerous countries and states. Known for their popular All Day IPA, which is the top-selling session IPA worldwide and ranks fourth among all IPAs, Founders Brewing Co continues to expand its reach.
Founders Brewing Co. has a very nice taproom. The menu is fairly broad and includes salads, bowls, skillets, burgers, and platters. For those with celiac, they have gluten free options highlighted on the menu. Mentioned this to Hannah our waitress and she found the recipe had changed and made an alteration to our order. Also vegetarian options highlighted on menu. The beer selection is good as you would expect. Music a bit loud and not to my taste, but not a huge problem. Waitstaff very attentive. Great place for a meal.

Breweries are not my go to thing but I tagged along because my husband and dad wanted to go. Everything got the “I want to return” ratings… the beers, the food (looks simple but flavorful) , the service, and the atmosphere. Highly recommend, especially if it’s your first day in the city visiting.

WOW this is an amazing brewery. They do all the brewing on site. The outdoors seating is so nice with great views. If you like sports they have plenty of televisions to watch your favorite team. You definitely have to make a trip here to see how beautiful this place is. The brussel sprouts were amazing. We had a great time and a great server.

Most breweries can make a good beer. A lot of breweries can make one great beer. Very few can make several really great beers. In my rankings, Founders is #1. This location is first-class all the way! I was a little surprised - you're not gonna drink on the cheap, but really the prices aren't bad for quality of beer and environment that you're getting. I very much wish I lived closer. One question: My receipt and Google Maps do not agree on the street name. When did the street get renamed, and why?

Stopped in while out of town to visit as a bucket list item. Great place! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, great food, kind and efficient staff, and of course excellent beer! If we lived in the area we would be here a lot!

This is one of the best Brew Pubs I have visited. The Dirty Bastard Scottish Ale is excellent. The building is huge and has a wide selection of seating indoors and outdoors. There are 3 bars. I enjoyed the fried cheese curds.

When in Grand Rapids it is a must to go to Founders. This is large restaurant with good service and beer. Lots of merchandise if you want to buy something. Parking is a little weird with having to drive by the place and down another street. I really liked the beer flights to try all of different beers.

Very nice place, it is a little higher in price, but it is all craft beers so it's to be expected!! The people were very kind and even offered a sample of what I was looking at to drink before I actually ordered it so that was really nice!! You can sit inside or outside, but can still be out of the direct sunlight which was super nice!! The place is done up very nicely!! I look forward to going back and would definitely recommend it to others!!

Best restaurant I've been to in quite a while. I had to order a pizza for an appetizer because it looked so good coming out of the wood fire oven. I'll come back for the pizza alone, but the rest of the food was amazing. Will return more than once.

This place is an absolute gem! I love unique places and this is as wonderful as it gets. The atmosphere is stunning especially with the local musicians which gave it a relaxing environment. Kevin was absolutely amazing and laid back, very knowledgeable about what’s on the menu let alone what his recommendations were. Loved the lighting and the murals on the upper parts of the walls. Very cool and different. I didn’t read into the history but from what I’ve experienced I’m not surprised that it’s doing very well. The food was delicious as I had the poet stout, yum and the reuben which is by far the best I’ve ever had and actually was recommended by Kevin. All in all it was absolutely an amazing experience and will definitely come back. I highly recommend The Old Goat for the best drinks and food. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for such an amazing dinner experience, cheers!

The Old Goat is great. We stopped here for a late dinner and didn't have to wait too long for a table. The atmosphere inside is really inviting, and some outdoor seating is available when it's nice out. We enjoy the live music, but it can be difficult to hear/speak over for some guests. This time, I tried the Beef Biscuit Bourguignon, served in a hot cast iron dish, and it did not disappoint. I also really enjoy the Hot Honey & Jalapeño Pizza.

Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant Wealthy Street district, Donkey Taqueria is a lively Mexican eatery that has transformed a former service station into a culinary hotspot. This charming venue boasts an impressive selection of tequila and offers a delightful array of Mexican classics, including mouthwatering street tacos, fresh guacamole, and sweet churros. Whether you're stopping by for lunch during the workweek or enjoying brunch on the weekend with their refreshing margaritas, there's something to satisfy every palate.
No complaints here. In fact, I've only got good to report after my first visit. The atmosphere has a hip, downtown vibe. The service was friendly, prompt, professional, and helpful. Between an appetizer and two taco options, I can confidently say the food is on point. Plenty of outdoor seating for the warm months is clutch as well.
John R — Google review
The place is really lively. We went on a Saturday night and had about a 20/30 min wait. We were seated inside, it's pretty close seating inside. The bar seems to be the main attraction. This place would be very good for singles trying to mingle. Its all plate or alicante food. The burrito i had was decent and the best thing was queso. Its very popular place but just not my scene.
Kymmie L — Google review
This is an extremely popular spot with great atmosphere, but I had a notably bad experience. The service was subpar, mostly i think the waiter must have been having a bad day because he was lowkey rude and clippy the entire time. Asked for a recommendation on something and he was like “idk it’s fine”. I counted my money wrong and tipped him around 50% on accident which i only bring up cause if he he reads this, it was NOT because of you or your service which were horrible, but I guess I hope you appreciated the tip. FOOD: it was bad. Our appetizer, the street corn style cheese dip was basically flavorless. It was BEGGING for salt and got nothing. We surmised that maybe the employee in charge of salting food must’ve been out sick. The chips were middling. We only got four tacos. The potato taco? Mushy potato cubes, not salted, basically flavorless The pork belly tacos? In desperate need of salt and sauce. The cubes pork belly itself was middling, like they were warmed rather than cooked to order. The best taco was the brussels sprouts, weirdly, and that was because it actually had some sort of sauce on it. The agua Fresca I drank was good, but it only served to remind me of all the incredible Mexican restaurants in Wyoming like 10-15 min away. The atmosphere is good though. The prices are fine.

Yes to Donkey Taqueria. It’s such a vibe! The decor inside is festive and there’s plenty of outdoor seating for those sunny days. 🌞 The staff is super kind and welcoming, and the food hits. The chips were perfectly crisp, the guac 🥑 was fresh and flavorful, and the drinks were so tasty. My friend got the ensalada and raved about it—fresh, well-balanced, and full of flavor. Definitely coming back for the food, the energy, and the whole experience. A must-visit when you’re in Grand Rapids! 🌮🍹✨

We love this place so much we had it catered for our wedding! It was so easy to order what we wanted and to have it delivered to the venue. We got the taco bar and it was even better than what you get in the restaurant! Was blown away! Would highly recommend for a wedding, defo a crowd pleaser.
Marian M — Google review
This place was actually recommended by a friend who came into town with me. We both decided to go get some food and it was such a lovely day we decided to sit outside. The inside is a nice modern atmosphere but earthy feel at the same time. With a nice long bar that extends in an l-shape around the inside of the building. Outside there's a nice seating area with gravel underneath your feet and several different ways of sitting with either bench seating or circular tables with a standard stools. They did have a nice cover over most of the outdoor area to keep you out of the sun or the tables had sun umbrellas to help and that was why we chose to sit outside. Our server Claire was amazing and made sure that our food and drinks were not only on time but delicious as well. The menu isn't vast but it's also not super expensive either. The ingredients were definitely fresh and most ingredients if not all are made in house which is a tough find these days. My two tacos and one drink was under $20 which is amazing for the service and the atmosphere that was provided. I strongly recommend this place for a lunch or dinner atmosphere with a friend, partner, or family.

We ate outside and loved the atmosphere. We both got the special which was delicious! Other items on the menu are also very good. I have friends from out of town who want to eat here when they visit.

Chips and queso were amazing very well done, little bit of spice but not bad at all. I had the burrito and it was pretty good, I would order again. The menu doesn't have any chicken tacos and I feel like that is a real miss tbh considering how many other types they have. Overall good experience would good back would try again. Update 2025: The chips are still amazing and the shrimp tacos are amazing.

This charming wood-and-stone-trimmed establishment is renowned for its Michigan beers and delicious burgers. The cozy atmosphere, created by dark paneling on the walls and an original Art Deco mahogany bar, adds to its appeal.
Awesome dive bar in downtown GR. Close to Van Andel so it’s perfect for drinks and food prior to a game or show. Service was great and very friendly. We asked for other dive bars in the area and all 3 servers were quick to suggest places and make conversation

The place is amazing with fire pit ! Cottage burger was fantastic 👌🏾 Little disappointed with no availability of fish or chicken corn dog. $17 for 2 strips of chicken and calling it a burger wasn’t nice ! Lady taking our order wasn’t attentive , overall , not the right time for us.

Went here for lunch with a friend. It was ok. A little over priced for what I got. Potatoes were very bland. Just chunks that were over roasted. Didn't taste like there was much seasoning. The sandwich was fine. My friend really liked the beef stew. I do like the atmosphere here. After we asked for the bill it took about 10 minutes to get it, which wasn't great. Their burgers are really good here though.

I dropped by for a quick dinner on a Thursday evening, and I was happy with my meal. The place has been in business a long time, and the interior is cozy with a nice old bar. The staff was friendly, and the prices weren’t too bad considering how things are these days. I got the cottage burger (an olive burger variant) along with a cup of the chili blanco. Both were excellent. The whole place had a nice warm feel. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the area and you’re looking for a comfortable meal.

Delicious! We went for a late lunch on the first day of fall. We sat comfortably on their patio and had fabulous service. The burgers we ordered were cooked exactly as requested (medium-rare), the tots and cottage fries were addictive and drinks were nice and strong. The entire experience was perfect and we're looking forward to going back!

Very dark inside which I I enjoy if you have trouble seeing or wear glasses, you may need to use your phone flashlight to read the menu. Me and my wife stopped in for lunch. We got the cottage burger and waffle fries plus a Coke. I was surprised when my bill came out to $52.. the waffle fries tasted like they had the flavor of bad oil and in my opinion the burger was not that great. The burger patty was small. I enjoy good food and don’t mind paying fort it but when I left here, I felt like I was robbed.

Amazing, moody pub vibe with excellent decor and year-round heated solarium! Excellent service and food. Breaded fried fish was packed with flavor (not grease!) and served with a craveable dill tarter sauce - seriously, we were fighting to dip our fries in that stuff. Also tried: French dip, wings, and Winnie Cooper and would get all again. Super find, thanks for being excellent!

Went for lunch with a coworker. Our waiter he did take our order but there was another woman that ran our food & seemed more on top of it. Tables are also close together. The food was good, fresh but the seasoning or cheese is this case was much. Truffle fries were amazing. Portion size to price didnt match well. All in all not a bad restaurant but not some place im going to explore again.

Traveled from out of town and was looking for a good quick bite. The waitress was extremely nice and attentive. Got the fried pickles for an appetizer and would highly recommend. First time at The Winchester we split the nachos, which are small but flavorful. I enjoyed a burger and my girlfriend had the tikka masala, she was not overly impressed with the tikka masala. They have an expansive selection of beer and drinks. I would like to come back to try more of their menu.

Only came for drinks so we didn't get to experience the food. Nice large outdoor space to sit. Service was on the slow side, but that's what we were in the mood for anyway. Good experience overall. Update: Finally got a chance to try the food. Not great, not bad, worth a try. The Brussels are decent, and the French dip was flavorful but a bit small. The atmosphere is great, certainly will return and try some other dishes. The happy hour mule is good for the price. Consistent with my original review, service was pretty slow, but not terribly. Update 2025: Really liked the food we had this time! The burger is really good and reasonably priced. The chicken tenders though.... So good. Fries and chips just average but plenty good enough. Service was much improved as well, Jen H. was really great!

Absolutely wonderful experience! Went with my sister and got two appetizers, two entrees, one cocktail, and one dessert and were just barely able to finish. Awesome Michigan BBQ Shack. We both ordered the Burnt Ends Combo, with Pimento Mac and Cornbread Muffin. The food was delicious, well prepared, served hot, and overall great. The staff greet you when you come in, and they seem genuinely friendly and happy (a huge positive sign!). Staff - Very Friendly and Efficient Cleanliness - Clean establishment; Kitchen looks great! Price - The Combo is the way to go. Right on point for a BBQ Shack. Seating - Limited by design. Portions - Solid 1/2lb, I was stuffed. Parking - Plenty. Location - Great area! Based off this initial visit, I definitely understand how they won "Best MI BBQ" this year. We will definitely drop in again when we pass through!

Oh this place is delicious 🤤. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was like butter melting in my mouth. The ribs on the counter looked fantastic and my two buddies ordered sandwiches that looked fantastic. They both loved their orders. I was a little bummed they were out of Mac & cheese when I ordered, but my buddies got some and were gracious enough to share with me. It was fantastic. The counter lady felt bad for me missing out on the Mac so she let me try the stew and I also got tater tots. The tots were amazing in their crispy texture and flavor. The stew mixed with their horseradish sauce was good. A little heavy for my tastes but still good. Definitely come try some BBQ I think you'll be pleased. The place was busy and very small inside so perhaps plan to eat outside or order and go if you're going at a busy time.

The Sourhern Belle sandwich was a party on my pallette with brisket and peminto Cheese with, who knew, collard greens all 4 making a great combo with the chill brisket as a sude.

So glad we found this spot easy parking for down town and the food is amazing definitely get the burnt ends or brisket
Steven W — Google review
Went here for the first time for lunch. We got the sloppy Scott and half pund of brisket, as well at potato salad and corn muffin for sides. Very good BBQ doesn't need sauce but is complimented by good sauce, and that is how Two Scott's bbq is. Brisket was practically falling apart it was so tender. Highly recommend the sauces as well. This is a legit BBQ joint, when they run out, that item is done for the day. They do have some seating indoors and on a nice day, there is a spacious outdoor shaded seating area. They also have a old style root beer on tap that was really good. Very pleased with everything.

Two Scotts Barbecue in Grand Rapids, MI, is a carnivore's haven, and my recent visit left me craving more of their mouthwatering delights. I challenged the gentleman taking my order - "I'm from Texas. How proud are you if your brisket?" Undaunted, he replied "oh, we're pretty proud of it!" I ordered it and the star of the show was undoubtedly the brisket – a carnivorous masterpiece. Each bite delivered a symphony of flavors, and the tenderness was beyond perfection. He had good reason to be proud. Accompanying the brisket were the forkable baked beans, a delightful twist to the traditional barbecue side. The mini-diced mustard potato salad added a zesty kick that complemented the meat exquisitely. The sauces were a revelation – the Mustard-based Dog Sauce and House Sauce were impeccable, elevating the barbecue experience to new heights. Beyond the delectable dishes, the service at Two Scott's Barbecue was a standout feature. The team exuded enthusiasm, showcasing a genuine passion for serving top-notch barbecue. Friendly faces and a jovial atmosphere created an inviting dining experience. It was evident that the staff took pride in delivering not just food but an overall enjoyable time. In conclusion, Two Scott's Barbecue is a gem in Grand Rapids, offering a carnivorous feast accompanied by exceptional service. If you're a barbecue enthusiast seeking a memorable dining experience, this spot should be at the top of your list.

What a fun and delicious dinner. We went here for our anniversary. We ordered the tasting for two. Everything we ordered was delicious! The service was outstanding, explaining every dish thoroughly. The bread was so light and tasty. We ordered the bluefin tuna crudo, sturgeon, grilled octopus, lamb, and the Mississippi pot roast. Had a carrot cake flavored dessert. All so unique in flavors! Definitely recommend coming here for a special dinner!

My girlfriend and I came in from Chicago to try the tasting menu. We loved every dish, especially the scallops and the strawberry rhubarb dessert. I felt like it was a great fine dining experience that definitely competed with some of the best I've had in both Chicago and Detroit. The menu rotates so we're both looking forward to coming back again soon

Phenomenal meal. At behest of the wait staff, we did two tasting menus for a group of four - essentially got to try all but a few dishes and they were all incredible. The flavor, balance, presentation, and arrangements were all carefully thought through. The drinks (cocktails) we're also incredibly crafted. A thoroughly enjoyable meal.
Jimmy S — Google review
The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They let us know that the menu changes weekly. They told us all of the specials, and what everything is. Everything we had was very delicious! My favorite was the pumpkin cheesecake, second would be the fried mushrooms!

Phenomenal experience. My husband and I just went for the first time, and WOW! We decided to participate in their "grove for two" experience and it did not disappoint. I will be thinking about this food for awhile. Beautiful ambiance, great drinks, and our server was excellent. Will absolutely be coming back in the future for other special occasions. Highly recommend.

Grove is hands down the best restaurant in West Michigan. The detail and care put into every dish and the entire dining experience is impressive. The scratch made menu that seasonally rotates keeps us coming back! All of the staff are attentive, know the menu in & out, and really make the meal enjoyable. It's hard to find great food and good service these days, but it's guaranteed at Grove! Pictured; cheesecake & rhubarb cake, 14 day dry aged duck breast, soft shell crab, tune crudo & beef tartar
Alexis R — Google review
We had an amazing time at grove. We did the 150$ tasting option for 2 which is a great deal. One of my favorite meals I have had in GR. Will have to come back with more people to try the entire menu.
Denise W — Google review
Came here for our anniversary dinner and I was impressed! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and bent over backwards for us. Answered all of our questions and even told us what kind of wine glasses they use (they were huge and hold 23 oz of wine!) I didn't dislike a single food item. We actually couldnt decide what we liked best. I think I landed on the pasta but everything tasted delicious. Then the DESSERT. I still dream about them. So, TLDR go to the grove, grab a glass of wine, get the tasting menu and you will not be disappointed!

Nestled in the heart of Grand Rapids, Real Food Cafe is a classic diner that has been delighting locals for over twenty years. With two convenient locations in southeast and northeast areas, this bustling eatery serves up an extensive American menu featuring fresh ingredients prepared daily. Hot waitress...serving up excellent food. Well worth a stop if you haven't already visited. We had breakfast 😋. Did I mention the hot waitress?

I’ve visited this restaurant several times, and my overall rating would be a solid 4/5. Each visit has been enjoyable, with a few highlights and minor areas for improvement. Parking: Parking is street-based, but I’ve usually found a spot without much trouble. While this may vary depending on the time of day, it hasn’t been a significant inconvenience. Wait Times: The wait times are generally reasonable, especially when I visit after 11 a.m. I can’t speak to the experience earlier in the day, but later visits have been smooth and hassle-free. Service: The staff are friendly overall and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. On several occasions, they’ve gone above and beyond by offering pastries to-go when we’ve dined close to closing time—a thoughtful touch that’s much appreciated. Food Quality: The food has consistently been fresh and served quickly, which I value. Their chocolate chip pancakes are a standout item and a personal favorite. However, I do wish they offered flavored lattes in addition to flavored black coffee, as this would elevate the drink options. Overall Experience: This restaurant combines good service, fresh food, and a friendly vibe, making it a spot I would recommend to others. While there’s room for small enhancements—like expanding the drink menu—it remains a reliable choice for a satisfying meal.

Our order was $50 and it could’ve been better. Sausage and gravy wasn’t good. Then noticed my California Benedict was saturated, in that sauce that SHOULD be in a separate container. Like, come on… Not only that, English muffin wasn’t even toasted and it was spoiled. Didn’t eat NONE of it. You’ve got avocado with that California, why mix the two like that? It’s too much and should be customers dipping choice. Sauce was nasty anyways.

Real Food has a nice homey feel to it, and has nice bright pastel colors adding to its diner feel. The staff is friendly and attentive, and prices aren’t too bad. I had the monster omelet during my visit and it was delicious. I could smell my raisin toast coming before I saw it, which was nice. This is my first visit to this location, but I’ve been to Real Food’s other locations in the past. It’s always been a great place to grab a bite to eat.

The best biscuits and gravy I have ever tasted! The service was phenomenal, Sophie was top notch and very diligent in serving our party of ten. I'll be back! I clicked on the biscuits and gravy side, but I had the full meal which comes with two eggs. The sunny side up was cooked perfectly.

What happened to the quality? Real food cafe used to be good and our go to place for breakfast, but now the quality has gone down. It’s disgusting and I will not be back. There are better options out there.

Great little Cafe I found while working nearby! Warm greetings followed by Prompt service. It was ordered and on the table within 10 minutes. I ordered a Philly steak and cheese Skillet with Tomatoes instead of toast. It was cooked perfectly

Sundance Grill is a popular spot with two locations in Grand Rapids, offering a quiet atmosphere and an extensive menu. The 28th St. location has been a favorite among brunch lovers since 1985, serving Southwest-inspired American favorites like Churro Pancakes and Bacon & Chorizo Tacos. Additionally, the downtown location provides stunning rooftop views, making it an ideal place for a romantic dinner or even a proposal.
Got to Grand Rapids and was hungry so my Girlfriend and I looked up something to eat. We had our kids with us so honestly we were looking for french fries. We read the menu and saw fries and also was walking distance from our hotel so off we went. We got there and we were the ONLY people and seated. The gentleman that was our server was so friendly and helpful. They had a huge kids menu too. The kids wanted pancakes but stopped serving breakfast at 3pm it was 3:15, so he asked if the chef would mind, the pancakes were made!! The Chef name Coach came out to talk with us as well he was kind, warm and engaging. My girl had her food custom made and they didn't blink an eye. The food SLAPS so hard!! Love was truly put in it and we could feel it. The kids ate all they could as well. Needless to say GO HERE!! The staff, food and overall environment is fantastic.

Great place I recommend if your in the area for breakfast wasn’t very busy. Service was great. Our waiter did a very good job explaining everything and going above and beyond. I don’t remember his name, but he almost seem like an owner or something. Their food was great decent priced we had breakfast there. Some of our crew got the mimosas and they loved them. I suggest going out of your way to visit this place. Sorry my pictures aren’t the best.

Perfect place for a casual Sunday breakfast after Saturday night festivities. Easy walk from all downtown Grand Rapids locations. Free street parking on weekends. Usually no / minimum wait. Service is attentive. Cinnamon rolls are enormous. And the BLT Bloody Mary allows you to eat AND drink your breakfast at the same time! Enjoy a diamond in the rough!!

I came here today for some drinks. Me and my wife got a small pitcher of prickly pear margaritas. The menu price was 23 and got the bill noticed it charged 26. Didn’t want to make it a big deal over 3 bucks but I said something just to understand the pricing and the waitress told me it’s because we got a flavored margarita. that didn’t make sense because the classic margarita was 19 and the prickly pear was 23. so the manager talked to me about it and he rudely just said i guess I’ll have the waitress give you 3 dollars back and walked away. No apology.

This is an awesome tex mex spot for breakfast and if you are a fan of savory breakfast I highly recommend checking them out. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I got the avocado toast and my fiancé got the chorizo biscuits and gravy. Both were excellent and I plan to return next time we are in Grand Rapids. Their cinnamon roll is VERY large and we ended up eating it for 2 days of breakfast afterwards, so be warned! Highly recommended.

15 mins after being seated we never had a server to come take our drinks nor food order. After a few more minutes of waiting, a server finally showed up to take our order and drinks. 15 mins later, still no drinks or food and server was MIA at this point. Flagged down another server to see if she can find out where our food and drinks are. With an attitude, she asked if we even checked with a host before sitting down. The entire experience was unprofessional and snooty. First and last time there indefinitely.

Restaurant
Yesterdog is a beloved local hotspot in Grand Rapids, known for its classic hot dog offerings and vintage-style eatery. The restaurant has gained widespread recognition and numerous awards for its delicious hot dogs, which are affordably priced. Visitors can soak in the nostalgic atmosphere while enjoying their meal and admiring the hundreds of pictures adorning the walls. Yesterdog's popularity extends beyond Michigan, with patrons from around the world proudly sporting their Yesterdog t-shirts.
Came here on my last night in GR and I don't regret it! I got one of each type of hot dog (besides the veggie dog), and it was a flavorful experience. The best ones were the ones with chili in them. The restaurant is fast casual - they quickly take your order and they make everything in front of you. My friends all said it was the best place in town to get hot dogs, and I can't say they're wrong!
An P — Google review
Classic hot dog joint that is well worth the money you spend. - Cheddardog - $3.80: Simple chili and cheese dog, but oh so good. The bun is great quality. The dog is fresh and juicy. The chili was fresh and good, but a bit liquidy and sloppy. The cheese was just right. It was served on a plastic glove, which was odd. My son and I both agreed it was well worth the price. It is a no brainer. The value is phenomenal. No wonder this place is famous. - Service: Immediate, fast, and helpful. They were to the point, but still asking questions to be sure I didn’t miss anything (chips and drink). They did not pressure at all, were super helpful, and kind. The dog was ready almost before I paid for it. - Atmosphere: Old diner feel. Has a lot of graffiti and carvings on the walls. There is a very old vinyl jukebox. It looks like it still works, but I cannot confirm that. It has the feel of being worn and tattered with age, but still fully functional and kept up very clean. The neighborhood is a bit questionable. I don’t remember there being music played, but it could have been. - Conclusion: I think most of Grand Rapids would agree with me. You need to visit this place once if not make it a regular hang out. It’s worth it. Visited on a Friday at 9pm.

Ok so I heard a lot about this place! A staple in East Grand Rapids forever! Has a rich history on the wall, stories and people’s lives! Many people grew up here! I did not. The atmosphere and decor was cool, vintage and you’re able to scribble your name or whatever and add to the history! Nice! The Hot dog toppings, chili and Kraut, pickles were good and welcomed, being different. The quality of the hot dog itself was HORRIBLE! I’m just being honest! Small and not flavorful. I am glad I tried it and had the experience. I even left my Mark! But the mark it left in me was not one I will be experiencing again! Try it once for yourself, maybe you grew up on it and that’s what you expect from a hot dog! But not for me! Best of wishes to the new owners! I met them! Nice people and I am sure they will have continued success since their following is established, just not for or from me! Unless a hot dog change is in the future!
Alpha E — Google review
Hands down the best chili dogs I've ever had. I love the nostalgic decor. It's too bad people have carved their names in the tables and walls over the years. But they have left it that way and it has become a part of its history.
Sherryl D — Google review
Haven't been here in 6 or 7 years. Thought I would come back here with a dear friend. The man that took our order was rude to my friend & to me. Cockey attitude! The hot dogs were barely cooked & small. The hot dogs aren't that good. Their hot dogs are enough to feed a small child, not adults. Have to pay for parking just to eat there, too, outrageous. Never used to have to pay for parking. It's not worth it. We won't be back. I had to come home & eat cause I was still hungry. Not the same as it used to be years ago. Brought some cheddar dogs home for my husband. He didn't like them either & noticed how under cooked they were, too.
Carol M — Google review
Yesterdog is a staple in Grand Rapids! They have the best chili dogs you’ll ever have! The service is quick and the food is delicious. There was no line when I ordered and before I paid my food was ready! Just know you need cash, they don’t take debit cards. Even Obama has been here, check it out!
Michaela T — Google review
Ok… there is something odd about giving this place 5 stars- all they sell is like hot dogs 5 ways, ultra dog, yesterday, dog, cheese, dog, veggie dog, plain dog, fries and pop…but here’s why that works. Whatever they do to the hot dog… just taste freaking awesome! I personally have them place LIGHT toppings on because the dog is small, not beefy and big. The toppings make the dog! This place is full of nostalgia and the staff are super cool. Very fun to talk to and they like their job, I assume they must be paid well and owner must be super respectful of staff because all the employees have always been kind complementary of the owner in full of Yesterdog pride. I am told this is a landmark. Looks like it inside. It’s not modern, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Definitely check this place out sorry I don’t have any pictures my sons and I ate the dogs before we realized it! I’m telling you these little dogs are magical!

Love this spot for date night! All of the appetizers are amazing but the crab rangoon dip is definitely a favorite. We always end up ordering multiple of the crouching tiger specialty roll because it is THAT good. The restaurant is typically full on weekends so I would recommend making a reservation, however, typically you can make an online reservation 30 minutes to an hour prior to when you want to eat and they were able to seat us immediately. Service has always been great, but plan on 1 to 2 hours for dinner just because of the time it takes to make each of the rolls. The quality of the food is definitely worth the wait. Best sushi restaurant in Grand Rapids hands down!

My husband and I went here on a Monday evening and it was lovely! My husband got a specialty roll and I got Salmon nigiri and gyoza. The sushi was good quality and flavorful. They also had some speciality lemonades and I tried the Mango flavor. It was delicious! Our waitress was kind and answered all our questions. Our food took about 25 minutes to come out which was a downside to our experience but overall we had a great time. We sat outside on their deck which was nice. I would recommend this place to anyone in GR!

The Mitten Brewing Company is a popular craft brewery and pizzeria located in a restored Victorian-era firehouse, offering a unique blend of old-time baseball decor and delicious food. Since its opening in 2012, this vintage baseball-themed brewpub has become a staple in Grand Rapids, attracting locals and visitors alike.
A great brewery in the Grand Rapids area. We have gotten beers before so it was nice to finally go to their brewery and get some beers on tap. All the beers are good and they have a few absolute knockouts. The sour mango and Belgian spiced red come to mind. They were phenomenal, we took a 6 back of the mango to go. We did a flight and a specialty pizza. The pizza was really good. We wanted to try the pizza flight but there were only 2 of us so we're going to come back with friends for that one. The staff were really friendly, we got there right at open and within an hour it was packed. Our server was great. She helped with the pizza and beers. The decor is also awesome, completely themed in baseball. I can't recommend Mitten Brewing enough!

We stopped here before a ballgame in Grand Rapids MI. Great Detroit Tigers and baseball Memorabilia and displays. Decent sized seating indoors but the patio was great. Did not feel crowded outside. Our pizza was very good. Beer selection is also good. Tried a couple of great beers...I recommend the 84. Would definitely stop here again. They only have street parking, then I saw a sign about parking somewhere? after I had parked a couple of blocks away.

The ambience at this place is top notch if you are a Detroit Tigers fan!!! One of the coolest designed restaurants I have been to! It’s in an old Fire Station and has all kinds of old Tiger and fireman memorabilia. They have flights of both beer and pizza, which is so awesome! My first time getting a pizza flight! They also have a Detroit style pizza, which was very good. The beer flights come in a really cool Michigan shaped holder. All the beers were good. The “Peanut and Crackerjacks” beer was such a tasty and unique brew, so I would definitely recommend trying that one for sure! Our server, Megan, was super nice and did a fantastic job with our party of 9. We got the cheesebread and The Big Show pretzel appetizer and both were very good! Would get both again. All in all, just a great place that is definitely worth visiting!

Woah… that crust! And what a neat concept for a pizza. Lemon ricotta, hot honey, pepperoni, and spinach. This pie is definitely worth driving out of your way for. Not only that but the place has a really neat themed “timeless” baseball collection feel.

Was passing through Grand Rapids on the way to Muskegon to catch the Lake Express home to Milwaukee and stopped for lunch. First off the place is clean, inviting and has a great vibe. The baseball theme is AWESOME and they do a great job with it. The service was awesome. Our server was polite, clear, smiled and had patience. Just top notch. We ordered a Detroit style pizza and it was FANTASTIC. Delicious, fresh, hot out of the oven. The sauce was delicious, the crust was delicious and perfect and all the ingredients were fresh. I had a flight of beers with a focus on IPAs and Lagers. All the beers were good with a couple a bit above average but didn’t feel any of them were grand slams. Go to the Mitten and you won’t be disappointed.

STOP TURN AROUND GO BACK TO THE MITTEN!! All of us were in heaven. The wait for a table was worth it! What an amazing atmosphere. We had a blast. The pumpkin spice latte beer was the best. Even I drank it. I don’t drink but it was so good. We were in pizza heaven. The pizza flight idea is the best. I love it. I’d drive from Detroit just for the pumpkin spice beer and pizza. Love it. So so good. We haven’t laughed so hard at dinner in the 7 years we’ve done our beer tour. DON’T MISS THE MITTEN!!

Boho-Cozy-Industrial - this place is a total vibe! Great wood-fired pizza & beer, the smell will hook you just inside the door. The Friend of the Devil was better with every bite: building subtle heat, never overpowering, like a fuse that leads to the *pow* of tangy goat cheese. We ate everything. Excellent service to boot, love the art & lighting, thanks to all for an excellent experience! *One note for taller or larger patrons: at least one of the booths against the mural is incredibly tight, infringed further by a pipe along the wall. A Fun, Tasty Evening at Harmony Brewery Harmony Brewery in Grand Rapids is a cool spot on Lake Dr SE. It’s not just a brewery but a welcoming bar and restaurant too. The place has a nice, laid-back feel that makes you want to stick around. On a recent visit during an open mic comedy night, it turned out to be a great spot to enjoy some laughs with a small, lively crowd. Trying their beer was a refreshing moment. It’s crafted well and makes a good sip while you settle back and take in the scene. The pizza here, cooked in a wood-fired oven, is something special. It has a crust that’s just the right kind of crispy, and the toppings are generous without being too much. Even though the menu doesn’t have tons of options, what they do have is done really well. The drink choices are interesting too, consisting of their own brewed beers, giving a good mix of standard and something a bit different. The folks working here are quick and friendly, making sure everything’s good without being in your face. Spending a Friday night at Harmony Brewery was a really nice experience. It was chill, fun, and left a good feeling to think back on.

5.0/5.0 THIS IS THE 1ST EVER PERFECT 5.0!! 11/20/2023 This pizza is the exact pizza you think about when you dream about the perfect pizza. It's AMAZING! The cheese bread is just as highly rated as the pizza. It's a MUST try!! Add the balsamic, and it takes it to a new level! My ONLY complaints are the cheese bread only comes in 1/2 an order.. then the salad is 16$ and I can get the same salad for 10$ at a local pizza place. But, besides the price and quantity, this is the absolute most AMAZING food I've ever had locally!!

Delicious pizza. Good beer, but… We are tired of giving them chances on customer service. Some of the staff are very nice, but more often than not it seems we are not appreciated and welcomed in. Most times the hosts & some servers are not attentive. They can do better. This place should be 4.5+ stars!

Pros Service: There were two people working. They were decently busy, and the two were hustling! But they were happy to take the time to give local recommendations. They were happy we were there. Beer: Decent. It wasn’t our favorite in the area, but certainly enjoyable. Atmosphere: Super relaxed and chill. It’s in a cool little space. Cons Seating: We sat at the bar and the seating was uncomfortable. Overall: I really enjoyed this brewery.

We stopped in here on Saturday afternoon and I had the PCHERRYDACTYL which was amazing. I love a sour beer and this one had the perfect cherry hint. I had the MOTHER NATURE’S RETURN sandwich which was the perfect mixture of sweetness with the dried cranberries. I especially like the caramelized onions. They had a roasted red pepper tomato soup on special for the day and these two paired great tougher. The patio was full however we sat in the back room which was so bright and warm from the sun, our server was attentive and cheery. Great location for lunch and to enjoy some delicious beers!

Asian fusion restaurant
Rockwell Republic is a vibrant gastropub located in the historic Heartside District of Grand Rapids. This trendy hangout offers a blend of Asian and New American cuisine, featuring dishes made with locally sourced ingredients and regional farm produce. The stylish two-story setting boasts high ceilings, exposed-brick walls, and an elegant screened-in lounge for outdoor dining. Guests can indulge in succulent steak, freshly made sushi, handcrafted cocktails, craft beers, and wines.
We came here for dinner but they weren’t serving what we wanted so we ended up just getting a drink and an app this time. The service was also taking a longer time than usual. Perhaps we will visit again soon, but everything was just a little off on this visit, EXCEPT FOR THE RANGOONS which are always delectable.

I want to start by saying the service was beyond exceptional. I will go back for that if nothing else. Thankfully though they are more than their service. The atmosphere was incredible with a live jazz band playing at a volume that allowed you to have a conversation with those with you, but also very much enjoy their playing. Made for an outstanding evening. I have mixed feelings with our food. We went with sushi and it was good. Very flavorful, but nearly impossible to eat as almost every piece fell apart just trying to get it off the plate. Getting the very large pieces in your mouth was just not an option without using your other hand to catch half of it and stuffing it in all caveman style. Overall we really liked the place and it certainly sits near the top of our list for return trips to Grand Rapids.
Scott V — Google review
We visited for your first date night service. Food was good, needed more seasoning. We had the charcuterie board, steak, and scallops. It was very bland/simple. Mashed potatoes were dry. Cheese plate was good, minus the turkey. Apple skillet dessert was good a bit runny, would have preferred a thicker sauce. Overall the experience was great and we will definitely do it again.

Went here for the first time. We were lucky enough to be there during happy hour. I got a Raspberry Margarita and Blackberry Perrin. We got sweet potato fries and the shrimp ahi roll. The food was SO good. The sushi was definitely in my top 3!! The server is extremely good at his job. Never wrote anything down, but our orders were always exactly correct. Can't wait to go back. The only slight downside is that the tables are close to each other, and the walkway is a little tight. I am very fluffy though. ☺️

Fantastic food and drinks! They have a decent amount of indoor/outdoor seating. Rockwell Republic also has some great deals throughout the week. They do tend to get pretty busy and can often have a long wait time, but are well worth it. We’ve always had fantastic service and are always excited to return.

Excellent place all around. Ordered the guacamole and a sushi roll both on happy hour and both were excellent. Service was impeccable. Our server Shane was always in communication with us while he was in-between serving other customers. He was also extremely friendly and helped us with finding places to go around town! Great place to start out our Grand Rapids trip.
Alison C — Google review
Food was wonderful and fresh. Takeout portions are smaller than dine in but overall the quality is top notch. All of the food was delicious. Only complaints are that we ordered the 3 taco meal and only received 2 tacos & that we asked for crostini and naan and received crostini and chips with the beer cheese dip. Also thankful that they were one of the few places that kept their normal hours in the mist of this water situation.

Luna is a trendy Mexican restaurant located in Grand Rapids, offering a modern ambiance and creative cocktails. The menu features must-try items like the Cerdo and Al Pastor Tacos, along with delicious Prickly Pear Margaritas. Luna combines Mexican cuisine with local West Michigan ingredients, creating a unique dining experience in the heart of downtown.
From out of town and don't get to explore GR much, walked past this place early and decided to come back for dinner. Cool place, service was welcoming, astute and attentive. Props to Sadie. Highly recommend the salsa flight, definitely enough for 2, and the pico was super fresh....we asked for seconds. 3 tacos each...Asada was the favorite, but the Shrimp and Pastor are not to be missed. Honestly the chorizo taco needs to be mentioned as well. Get them all. Go wild. One thing, and this is important...they give you caramelized onions (different, but nice touch) and pickled red onions on the plate with your tacos. BEWARE. My spice tolerance is high enough but the red onions got me good. Pickled reds aren't usually spicy, so my fault...I threw a bunch on my tacos. Just saying it would be nice for a heads up on the 10/10 heat level on those bad boys. Way spicier than the "hottest" salsa on the flight! Luna, if you read this, don't change a thing. Just let us know beforehand. Whatever, still loved the experience here. Will be back.

One of the best restaurants in Grand Rapids for some Mexican food. Great service, amazing food and very good margaritas. 10/10 recommend going here. They have the best chips and the salsa flight is highly recommended.
Felicia E — Google review
So I do have to say this place is really nice the staff was very friendly the food was very beautiful when it came out homemade salsas were delicious and I actually enjoyed my food quite a bit although my wife and my dad did not care for it too much. The homemade dessert was very tasty as well. Not knowing if it was connected or not all three of us did have to use the bathroom quite a bit after this restaurant unfortunately we didn't eat anything else that day. I assumed it was not from this place because everything was very fresh looking and high-end. I also feel that it's kind of pricey for tacos just because I believe that tacos should be a cheap meal because they're very cheap to make. But overall I think this place does a very good job.
Dark O — Google review
Great margaritas! Service is friendly and the building is nice and clean. We didn't get a chance to try the food this visit, but will definitely return to do so. If you're thirsty, don't hesitate. Update: Visited again this time for food. The chips & guac is a huge portion, so it is well worth the cost. The tacos were good too, maybe just a bit on the dry side but still yummy. The only downside is it can get pretty loud inside when it is really busy, but thats not a problem at all!

You gotta order that NY Strip Steak, superb ! Couldn't be happier with the portion, freshness, and the taste of the food.

Our experience was mixed, I typically love Luna but last night must have been a one off. Made a reservation for 9 PM, and got a text at 838 stating our table was ready and we had 5 minutes to confirm/ arrive before our reservation was canceled. Weird. Going in, the staff just seemed to want to get us in and out. We literally were told for both our drinks and food that the bar and kitchen was closing, and were asked if we wanted to order anything before they did close. Mind you again we were still 15 minutes early for our 9 PM reservation when they close officially at 930. Overall it was just rushed. The server was kind, but you could definitely tell they were ready to go for the night. Additionally, we ordered a flight of margaritas and while they were tasty, the sizes have definitely shrunk significantly - for the same cost. I love Luna and the food, but i believe you should not offer a 9 PM reservation if thats the experience. Will just have to think twice about the timing of our dinner at Luna.

Good food. The mixed drinks are served well and the bartenders do a great job, both with their mixing and their attentiveness. Overall, a good atmosphere, but likely better for groups larger than 1-2 people as it's not an intimate setting.

Good food and atmosphere. It’s got a cozy, dimly lit classic bar vibe. Definitely the spot for soccer games. The food can be a bit slow, so if you go during your lunch hour I’d recommend putting your order in quickly. The pit boss wrap is so good. Update: Unfortunately this place has done a major menu change, and not for the best. We’ve tried out the new menu twice now and were disappointed both times. Most recently we tried the sticky chicken sandwich… it was honestly the worst chicken sandwich we’ve ever had. Just downright gross. They’ve also scaled down the portions. Wont be back to this one.

We came down to GR for a food show and decided to check out this place as it was right down the street from our hotel. Em was our server and she was absolutely amazing. And she made THE BEST smoked old fashioned hands down! Check out this place. We didn’t eat this time but we will be back for sure!

COULDN'T KICK US OUT FAST ENOUGH The waiter kept revisiting our table, eventually clearing two of the four setting while the rest of us were still eating. It was annoying enough to inspire me to write a review. Half the tables were occupied,, and it was only 6pm. When the waiter returned to our table a few minutes later, we had to ask him if they had any deserts. Even though it was only 6pm, he told as they were out of everything except for vanilla ice cream. We got the message. I'm not sure what was really going on at this place, but we will not be returning.

My girlfriend and I went in for a few cocktails around 6pm today and we sat all the way in the back near the window, The section didn’t seem blocked off when we arrived, and there was a sign at the host stand that said seat yourself. We sat for about 10 minutes and nobody noticed us so I went up to the bar and ordered our drinks and got a few waters. I offered to wait for the drinks, but the bartender said she would bring them out to us. I returned to my seat and then waited another 10 minutes and it was around this Time a waiter approach our table saying “Oh hey I didn’t even see you back here” Not a hey or a hello, but greeted as an inconvenience for sitting in the back is what it felt like. I explain I had already ordered the drinks and he persisted. We re-ordered them and he said they weren’t put in the system yet. At this point, we have waited 20 minutes for cocktails, which wasn’t that much of an inconvenience because we were just hanging out socializing. The restaurant didn’t seem busy. We waited another 10 minutes, and then I went to approach the bar and my waiter stopped me and said the bartender was making our drinks right now. I approached the bar and so did my waiter and I explained to the both of them if they didn’t start making my drinks yet I would just leave Because I wasn’t trying to wait any longer. The bartender seem flustered and responded with “ You can leave if you want, it’s not skin of our backs.” I told her I would wait for the drinks which by the way weren’t started at all. I returned to my seat and my girlfriend and I decided to leave it was at that moment walking out that I had seen my drink starting to be made. We will not be back and I don’t recommend this place. The service was atrocious.

The Søvengård is a trendy Scandinavian-inspired destination in Grand Rapids that offers a unique farm-to-table dining experience. It's more than just a restaurant; it's a collaboration between local business owners, the agricultural industry, and the community. The menu features authentic and distinct dishes made with fresh, seasonal produce sourced locally, ensuring a sustainable and ever-changing dining experience.
Dining at The Sovengard was a a delight. We enjoyed a beautiful evening outdoors in their thoughtfully designed garden setting — a nice mix of relaxed atmosphere and Scandinavian charm. The food was excellent from start to finish. I had the VÄRMLANDSKORV, a traditional Swedish sausage, which was rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The rainbow trout was another standout — fresh, perfectly cooked, and paired with creative, seasonal sides that really elevated the dish. Service was friendly and attentive without feeling rushed, letting us enjoy the meal and surroundings at a comfortable pace. If you’re looking for unique, high-quality food in a relaxed outdoor setting, The Sovengard is a must-visit.

I haven’t been so impressed with the totality of a GR restaurant in a long time. Visited once previously before they moved locations, but it was many years ago. Hostess immediately offered to let us sit outside when we requested, even though It had been pouring beforehand and nobody else was seated there. We declined, as not to be a bother. Service was pleasant and attentive, but the setting shined brightest. Atmosphere was awash with natural light, bright flooring, and colorful walls. Open, but still somewhat intimate. Had open-faced shaved beef sandwich. Wonderful, and so is their extensive tap list. I didn’t venture into the spirits. (My only critique is that the cocktails didn’t say what specific spirit they contained.) The Bridge St corridor has blown up in the best possible way, and even though this is a little further down the road, it’s 1,000% worth your time and money . Please support the is great GR business.

This place is incredible. We went for brunch with two small kids, and the service was so accommodating and friendly. They really went above and beyond. The food was spectacular, and the restaurant and garden area are simply stunning. This place is a gem. We'll definitely be back! We made a reservation, but there were open tables (which was surprising, since in most other cities the brunch line would be wrapped around the block for a place like this).

Had a FANTASTIC time at Søvengård's Oktoberfest Late Night! This review is a little late but I had such a good time. They seem to host monthly events that each have a unique theme with music, competitions/games, and unique drink and food options! I sampled a few of their beer options as well and was very impressed, their Haus Lager is very refreshing and easy to drink, while they also had a Finnish Farmhouse Ale on tap that had hints of juniper berry and was very unique. I also had to get some Oktoberfest märzen and Weissbiers of course. I was a big fan of the live polka band as well. It really added a nice touch while not being too loud that I couldn't hear others talk. Overall, very fun event with excellent food, staff, and ideas. The fact that they focus on fresh local ingredients is the cherry on top. Will absolutely be back.

Great atmosphere inside and out. Had few drinks and appetizer. Got sat out of order. Followed a large group that we signed in before. Frustrating especially when they realized it and said nothing. Enjoyed the awesome patio. But had a good experience and drinks. Would recommend checking it out.

Great Saturday brunch. My wife and I stopped in for a late meal and we're thrilled with the food, service, and ambiance. Biscuits and gravy were very good, breakfast patty melt and potatoes were incredible. Will definitely be back to try out the dinner menu.

Beautiful and cozy interior. My son was leaving for a semester in Asia and wanted a dose of something he would not have access to while there. Sovengard was his choice and his belly was beyond happy. He got the full Scandi and loved all of it. Biscuits and bread were both A+. My brunch hash looked beautiful but the vegan eggs were undercooked (IMO) and there were vegetables I don’t associate with breakfast in the mix (green beans, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots). I love all of the ingredients individually but not with eggs. Giving them total credit for this being farm to table brunch and focusing on locally sourced and in season on this one. I will probably try this restaurant again but for dinner.

Beautiful ambiance, wonderful hand crafted food, attentive staff, the Sovengard isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience. Great brunch menu. Our party had the crab omelette, Waygu steak and eggs, and the grain bowl. Everything was so tasty. The restaurant was fairly busy on a late Sunday morning but wait list was easy and definitely worth it.

I sat at the bar with my friend during my visit to Littlebird. The service was great, and we were able to sit down right away at the bar. I had a Division Bell to drink, and it was smoky and full of orange flavor from the Aperol. The beef tongue pastrami we shared was delicious and unique, and the blue cheese ice cream really amped up the flavor. We both had the squid ink tortelloni, which was also fantastic and filled with a sea urchin mousse. The sauce was to die for. Littlebird provides an elevated experience while still staying down to earth. It’s a great place for a nice night out.

Excellent dinner. Knowledgeable staff, fun wines, and the dishes were an immaculate yet playful flavor of considered, intentional ingredients. I’ll be dreaming of the chicken two ways for days to come. We live on the west coast and this tops any place we’ve been to in years out there.

Can here for lunch with my daughter. As a vegetarian it can sometimes be hard to find diverse food offerings. The Littlebird was a fantastic choice with lots of options. I ordered the Roasted Potato Hash. This dish was perfectly balanced. Everything was fresh and the flavors distinct. With each bite you could savor the different vegetables in the dish. The mushrooms were fantastic! The kimchi added a mild amount of heat with certain bites and did not overwhelm the dish. I would absolutely order this again. Highly recommend this restaurant for great atmosphere and fresh dishes!

Our recent late Sunday morning visit confirmed this establishment's dedication to elevating the brunch concept. While the room was predictably vibrant and busy, testament to its popularity, the management of the waitlist proved smooth and efficient, making the short anticipation well worth the investment. The culinary offerings were exceptional, moving far beyond standard fare. Our party thoroughly enjoyed a diverse selection: The Crab Omelette offered a delicate richness, showcasing fresh, quality seafood perfectly integrated into the eggwork. The Wagyu Steak and Eggs was a standout, providing a luxurious depth of flavor that speaks to the quality of the cut and precise preparation. Even the Grain Bowl, often an afterthought, was executed with sophisticated flavor and textural complexity, providing a thoughtful contrast to the richer plates. Every item was impeccably tasty and demonstrated a commitment to superior ingredients. This is not merely breakfast; it is a refined culinary experience, and a definitive stop for those seeking a premium weekend meal.

UPDATE: M-kay, if you love pastrami, this is the right place to go. Next time, I’m going to try them all! As for the main dishes and dessert—proceed with caution. The service keeps being awesome though. Thank you to THE STAFF! Stop reading this — just go. P.S. Left some space for the ice cream. (The atmosphere was ruined because we were seated outside and some bikers were blasting their “cool” music way too loud.)

I visited Littlebird primarily interested in the company of my friends and not so much where we were eating. Next time I come it will be with intention, as the food was fantastic! My dish and the bits I ate of others were all great (both lunch and breakfast dishes). Definitely give Littlebird a try if you're on the fence. Update: I came back and had another great experience. Littlebird also ruined donuts for me with their Buttermilk Donuts and jam. As someone without much of a sweet tooth, they were probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. Give them a shot!

Assorted food vendors. Prices are pretty inflated at most places we visited. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the walleye fish and chips meal and the smoked salmon from Fishlads. I enjoyed the boneless wings from the Juju Bird and Brian was friendly. I would definitely skip tacos from Tacos El Cunado. No one was present and I ordered myself on a kiosk. The girl came back after and I asked to add lettuce and tomatoes to the tacos and she said okay. Luckily I looked before leaving and it was only beef in a tortilla. I ordered 2 tacos at 4.00 each and chips and salsa and guacamole for an additional 3.75 and somehow my order was over 17.00 . Food below subpar. I would also skip the lemonade at the Chewie Bitez as it tasted of fake powder lemonade definitely not fresh and ran over $17 for 2 without having any Boba in them, the huge brownie was also days old( dated) and extremely dry. The chocolates from Loves ran $3 per tiny piece but my kids really wanted to try them. Although they were beautiful they were extremely over priced for the quality and size. The kettle corn from Dorothy and Tony's was very good.

The Grand Rapids Downtown Market is a lively food hall with a mix of local vendors and more commercial offerings. It features a cheese bar with a good variety of cheeses and a large selection of wines, making it a great stop for cheese and wine lovers. The market also includes a bakery, various food vendors, a spice shop, and a place for handmade soap, offering a nice mix of specialty items. However, some visitors might find that the market leans a bit more toward commercial products than expected, rather than purely artisanal or locally crafted goods. Still, it’s a fun place to explore, grab a bite, and shop for unique ingredients or gifts.

Its a wonderful location. You can get great foods, wines, spices and more there. A couple bakeries, some restaurants, a wine store a cheese store, a butchery and a fish monger are all some of the things available inside. The prices can be pretty steep in some of the places, particularly with the fish, but thats more or less, the nature of the beast on the whole. Vendors were all great and service with a smile.

I tried this place a couple times a long time ago and never felt the need to go back. I noticed they have boat noodle on their menu so I went in today. The flavor and quality of food is much better than in the past. I could tell immediately that the broth was made in house and you can smell the spices, like star anise, right away. The broth is a lot sweeter than I was expecting but squeezing the lime into it balanced it out and made it much better. I definitely want to go back and try their pho and other dishes. Service was good and friendly.

Best Thai I have eaten in Grand Rapids. The service was very good and the food came out quickly. The atmosphere is basic but spacious. The prices are very reasonable especially for being down town. My wife loved her yellow curry and I had a huge bowl of duck pho with broccoli, and noodles. Served with jalapenos, bean sprouts, mint leaves and lime on the side. The broth was fantastic with lots of tasty duck meat and perfectly done broccoli. We can't wait to go back and try other dishes. Oh and the crispy chicken egg rolls came out hot and we're outstanding.

The pad Thai was white! The noodles sat in a clear broth almost like a shallow soup. I’ve never had a Pad Thai like this before. There was clearly no tamarind. There are different Pad Thais, some brownish, some reddish, but never white! It tasted pretty good as food but not at all like a Pad Thai. I actually googled Pad Thai in Thailand just in case this was a regional variant but none looked like this. Strange.

Pretty lame dishes. Got through Uber eats. The cashew chicken was a tiny portion and very over salted. The Kaoh soi I’m pretty sure was ramen noodles and had hardly any chicken. There was also no sauce. Just noodles. Big bummer
John F — Google review
The sesame chicken used to be my favorite meal in Grand Rapids. Overtime the quality has significantly decreased. Chicken has been extremely tough and dry. Today I had requested that they cook it a bit less this time and the waitress told me it comes precooked ….seriously? I’m not sure why the precooking is necessary. I would much rather wait longer for fresh chicken especially since you can taste that it old. Again today the chicken tasted like it was old and the texture was like beef jerky. The rice also is different than I remember it being years ago. Seems like instant rice. Such a shame. I used to eat this all the time and I would rave about it and recommend people to go there and now I couldn’t even finish my meal and I felt like I wasted my money. I wish they could spend a few more minutes to cook the chicken fresh and use some better rice. I would love to return if they can make these improvements.

Steak house
Bowdie’s Chophouse in East Grand Rapids is a top-notch steakhouse known for its delectable steaks and carefully crafted non-steak options. The restaurant offers a sophisticated and inviting ambiance, making it an ideal spot for special occasions or a memorable night out. In addition to its elegant decor and plush seating, Bowdie’s boasts an extensive selection of top-shelf whiskeys.
Out of all of the high-end steakhouses in Grand Rapids, this is by far the best. We started out with the shrimp bisque, and it was excellent. I ordered the filet and it was the best steak I have had in my entire life. My husband isn’t a huge steak person so he made the mistake of getting salmon. It was good, but it was salmon that you could get at any restaurant. Get steak if you are coming here. The filet was 10 ounces and seasoned perfectly. It literally melted in my mouth. We also got Brussels and bellies. They were fantastic. I forgot to add that they start you off with bread and butter and it is very good. It was my birthday so I got something chocolate, but I can’t remember what it was. It was a slice of rich chocolate with ice cream on top and chocolate syrup over it. I wasn’t hungry enough for too much, but I knew my husband would gladly eat what I didn’t. I am not a big chocolate person, but it was good and my husband said it was amazing. Service was fantastic from the time we entered until the time we left. As far as the cost, it is expensive and you should know that and expect that when you come to eat here, but there our ways to make it a little less expensive. They have steaks that are large enough to split and the appetizer is also big enough to split. Overall, we had a great experience and we will be back. For us, this is a once or twice a year treat. We were just there at the end of December and I’m already ready to go back again, but trying to wait a little bit. Go now if you love steak and you haven’t been!

Overpriced and disappointing. The menu was limited and unclear, the so-called Tomahawk steak was just beef with a bare bone on the side, and the atmosphere was dark and airless. To top it off, the waiter even asked if I wanted to take the bone!. Definitely not worth it
Mehmet Y — Google review
Drinks were strong and steaks were prepared to melt in your mouth, juicy, tender perfection. The sides are sharable so make sure to get some for the table. I am not always a big fan of rare/raw beef, but tried a bite of my friend's beef tartar and was pleasantly surprised. The bone marrow is a must. Needless to say, all the dishes ordered were very delicious.

Easily one of the best steakhouses in the country, not just Michigan. Steaks and sides are always cooked perfectly. The service is always 5 stars. Highly recommend

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic meal for our 18th anniversary. We started with the Escargot, which was delicious! Then we moved on to the Tomahawk for Two! They say it's for two, but it's large enough that we had 4 meals from it. It was just as delicious when we had our leftovers! The sides of Creamed Spinach and Au Gratain Potatoes were the perfect compliment to our Tomahawk! We had a special, to us, bottle of wine that we brought in. There is a $25 corkage fee, which is understandable. Somehow, we still had room for dessert and thank God we did. That might have been the best dessert we've ever had! Don't pass on it! Our server, Manny, was top notch! He truly made us feel special and was there whenever we needed something! Thank you, Manny, for a wonderful experience!!!

Absolutely top drawer restaurant! Pricey? Very! Worth it, definitely. Seafood Tower was superb. Various steaks were magnifique! Take two Omeprazole before dining here. Service was so excellent that I can’t even describe it. It must be experienced to appreciate. Best way to describe the service is to call it anticipatory. They knew what we wanted or needed before we did!

When we arrived, we first sat at the bar for a few minutes while they made our table. We sat down after a short wait and got our food order in. We had a great night! Our server and bartender, Mitch and Adam, were pleasures and had great banter with us all night. Our food was so tasty and we enjoyed every bit of it. Apps, drinks, dinner, and desert were 10/10 delicious. Add the great atmosphere, friendly staff, and overall experience, I would highly recommend checking out Bowdie’s on your next night out.
Stacy R — Google review
We went here for our anniversary dinner and the staff was so gracious. The food was great and out server recommended some awesome dishes. We both had steaks which were cooked perfectly. The lobster mac was pretty good, although we are not a fan of that particular pasta. The cocktails were great and there were plenty of options. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. We will absolutely go back.

Nestled along the East Beltline near Woodland Mall, Anna's House has been a beloved family-owned gem in Michigan since 2002. This vibrant eatery prides itself on using fresh, local ingredients to craft a diverse menu that caters to all dietary preferences, including gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. Whether you're craving hearty wraps, crisp salads, or juicy burgers, there's something for everyone at Anna's House.
Food is always great. The service is always wonderful. I'm grateful for options for vegan and gluten free. Took a friend here visiting from california.Who is gluten free and vegetarian, i am vegan, so this was able to accommodate both of us and provide lots of delicious options. Our server was outstanding and the manager came by the table and talked to us before we left. He was very friendly and informative, it looked like he was checking in on all the tables to make sure they were happy, which is always nice to see This is one of my favorite spots for brunch/ breakfast!

The food was excellent! I really appreciated that the menu clearly marked both vegan and vegetarian options, which made ordering super easy. I tried the avocado toast with egg and fruit, and it was delicious. The place does get very busy, but since I was dining solo, I was seated quickly. Overall, great food and friendly service!

Food and service were good. This place is popular!!! I would highly suggest checking in online and then again when you get there. Good for Vegan/Gluten free eaters-lots of options and menu is clearly marked. Servers are knowledgeable about gluten free (ours was at least) and they have separate kitchen space for gluten free food.

Anna’s House in East Beltline serves up a nice meal. The restaurant can be crowded at breakfast or lunch, so reservations not out of the question. The cinnamon rolls come from a different part of the kitchen than other dishes, so can come out first. Good selection on the menu with plenty of breadth. Food high quality. The egg sandwiches are cut in half and very tasty. Service is friendly and attentive. If you’re on the mailing list, be aware of the regular $5 off coupons. Worth the trip.

A fantastic breakfast and brunch spot🤩 Heaps of vegan, vegetarian and Gf options, as well as the usual omni food. The vegan pancakes, vegan hashbrown and vegan eggs had a great tasty and healthful flavour. Not oily, not salty, not sweet. Tasted real ingredients, it was a really nice brunch spot! The breakfast lasagna was also really good (according to my companion), I didn’t taste it. It had a tonne of spinach and mushrooms, again real ingredients. Absolutely delicious and fantastic! I am excited to come back to this place and try more vegan foods here. The coffee was lovely, and juices were fresh, and a nice surprise - didn’t have a half a cup of ice to save on the ingredients (well done management 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼) Wheel chair accessible

They offer tons of gluten-free options, which was such a nice surprise! We went right at opening (6 AM), and our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. The waffle was decent, , and the place itself is absolutely charming. I’m from Massachusetts, but if I lived in Michigan, I’d be a regular for sure!
Brittaney J — Google review
The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant. The serving staff are friendly, and the food tastes good. I had the eggs Benedict, which was decent. However, the side of fried potatoes was cooked a bit too crispy, making them feel slightly hard.

I have been traveling into this area for a while, and never come across this restaurant. Someone local recommended it for breakfast, so I met here with a colleague and found the service was exceptional, the atmosphere was also great, and the food tasted fresh and with flavor. I liked it so much that I returned for lunch, and had the same experience for a different meal and even different a server.

Vivant Brewery + Spirits is a captivating brewery housed in a renovated chapel, offering tours and a pub serving craft beers and French cuisine. The establishment's medieval monastic theme is evident throughout, with stone work, chandeliers, communal wooden tables, and stained glass adding to the ambiance. Guests can savor popular dishes like Duck Confit Nachos alongside their signature Farm Hand French farmhouse ale or Triomphe Belgian IPA.
I’m stingy with 5 stars. Andrew & Jason at Vivant earned it! This is your neighborhood ‘Cheers’ experience. I was visiting Grand Rapids and put in ChatGPT if I was Anthony Bourdain, what restaurant should I experience. (See actual prompt below) Vivant was #1. Loved the Shadow Raven: bourbon aged English style stout beer (8.2 ABV), Pulled Pork Mitraillette and Bavarian beer hall vibe. ME: Act as Anthony Bourdain and tell me the top three places to visit and eat in Grand Rapids Michigan CHATGBT: If I were channeling Anthony Bourdain, exploring Grand Rapids, Michigan, I’d seek out places that embody authenticity, character, and a deep connection to their community. Here’s the #1 spot that captures that spirit: 1. Love this gem on beautiful Cherry Street! Stopped in today (July ‘25) to hang on the (dog-friendly!) patio and have a few bites. I enjoyed the catfish sandwich with fries and my friend had the nashville fried chicken sandwich with a side salad. The catfish sandwich with remoulade was very tangy & tasty and the slaw on the chickens sandwich added great taste and texture. I love this place and come in several times a year - 4 stars only because the prices are a bit high for essentially upscale pub food (although for a great product). I’ll be back again, just have to save a little to splurge on their patio!

this was our favorite place for the beer weekend we did. The service was excellent. We sat outside and the beer was excellent. We also has some smoked old fashioned and I think they may have been the best we ever had. The owner came out at one point and offered to do a tour which we did. He really gave us the backstory and enjoyed the service. We had the duck nachos which is their most popular item on the menu.

A charming brewery set inside a former church. We ordered two beer flights, truffle fries, poutine, and a bowl of pickles. The beer list had a solid variety, though a few we wanted to try were unavailable. The ones we did have were enjoyable. The fries and poutine were good, fairly standard. The pickles, while tasty at first, got too acidic and started to burn after a while. Service was friendly, the atmosphere was great, and prices were reasonable. I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in the Grand Rapids area.

This was our first time here but it will definitely not be the last! From the time we walked in, our hostess Mary went out of her way to make us feel welcome and accommodated. Our server Em was efficient and attentive without being overbearing. She knew the menu inside and out, and graciously answered all our questions. The bartender Andrew helped my husband choose a beer that would fit his taste. The food arrived quickly and was delicious! The atmosphere is charming. Just an all-around pleasant experience.

Brewery Vivant was a delightful surprise. The atmosphere in the converted chapel is truly unique, and our server Elsie made the experience even better. Elsie, is an absolute gem – attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and beer selection. We relished the Duck Nachos Confit and Hearty Jamaican stew. the rich, flavorful and tender meat were incredibly satisfying. Their Farm Hand and Tropical Saison beer was outstanding, and the flight let us sample even more of their excellent brews. Highly recommend Brewery Vivant for its food, beer, and one-of-a-kind ambiance. Ask for Elsie – you won't be disappointed!!

Rose's on Reeds Lake is a historic establishment in Gaslight Village, East Grand Rapids. This long-standing restaurant offers an array of Mediterranean, Italian, and casual American cuisine. With its charming outdoor patio and large windows providing breathtaking views of Reeds Lake, Rose's sets the stage for an intimate and romantic dinner.
First visit to Rose's yesterday evening, definitely will return. Beautiful view from the bar while waiting for our table. Short waiting time great bar service and selection. After being seated our waiter Danny was attentive but not intrusive, offering great menu advice and conversation. The courses came out quickly and prepared well. The mussels were AMAZING 👏. Overall a lovely meal and evening.

Roses is located in gaslight village next to the boat launch. The scenery around the place is absolutely beautiful. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Open the kitchen so you can see them cooking. Coat hooks on the ends of every booth. They have an inclosed patio, which also has ceiling fans to help when its hot. The restaurant is stunning. Now the food, it did not take our breath away. My friend got the mac and cheese, and she said it's the worst she had ever had. It didn’t have a cheese flavor to it. It's more like butter and light herbs. My angel hair pasta was good for the most par. It had cured meat in it tho and wasn't the best. Kids portions were small like maybe 5 yr old small. The deserts were fantastic tho.Overall, it was a nice experience, but the food just wouldn't get us back.

Always a great place to eat. Kay, our server was beyond EXCELLENT in all the ways; thank you Kay! Waited at bar until a table opened up outdoors. We kindve felt invisible for a good 10 Minutes however. Took a lot to get a drink even tho there were only 4 other ppl sitting at bar. Bar backs too busy making/pouring drinks for restaurant I'm thinking. More help, or at very least, quicker acknowledgement of our presence would have made all the difference. Bartenders seemed very stressed.

First time going here. The food was great. It was surprising the kids chicken tenders only came with two. The wall eye was great, the atmosphere & service were great. There were ants on the windowledge behind my seat but they didn’t interfere with me. The creme brûlée was really good too. It’s right on the lake so it’s fun to go walk around after. Would definitely go back.

Terra GR is a locally-owned restaurant located in the old Kent Records building in Eastown. It offers a stylish and rustic dining space where patrons can enjoy farm-to-table dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The menu features wood-fired pizzas, craft cocktails, and Michigan craft draft beer. The restaurant is known for its seasonal offerings such as spaghetti Bolognese, seared scallops, and braised beef shoulder.
Terra made for a nice, more upscale dinner for a friend and me. They have some creative, Italian style dishes and lots of nice drinks to choose from. I went with a cocktail I can’t name in polite company, and it was delicious. It stuck me as something somewhat like a tiki-style drink in a rocks glass. I had the corn risotto and my friend tried the casarecce pasta. We both thought the food was superb. The corn risotto wasn’t too heavy, and it had tons of fresh corn flavor. The scallion ash was a surprisingly good topping. The decor was modern and the staff was helpful without being overbearing. This would be a great spot for a nice night out or just a pleasant meal with friends or family.

The gnocchi with short rib as light and pillowy, melt-in-your-mouth tender, the salmon perfectly balanced, and the Margarita pizza a wood-fired delight. We went for brunch to celebrate my son‘s birthday. They had printed happy birthday on the top of the menu, which was very sweet. We had the brunch menu items. Hair of the dog bowl was too spicy for both grandmothers. The rest of us thought it was fine, but you may want to get the sauce on the side so you can control your own spice level. The tiramisu French toast was amazing! There wasn’t any espresso flavor to it so I don’t know why they called the tiramisu french toast but nonetheless, it was amazing! The cocktail called the Benson was also very good. They have a lovely outdoor patio, which we did not sit on, but looked really nice. Also, there is a parking lot behind it and they do validate parking or at least they did for us on a Sunday. Our waiter was not very good, but some of the other Waitstaff seemed better and were very helpful.

I can see why people give Terra five star but since I ordered the wrong items. It is a 3 stars for me. 1.corn risotto taste exactly like cream corn from a can, with lime juice. $26. Chef did a good job making the risotto but the flavor was a shocker. I prefer regular risotto. 2. Lamb meatball, is just lamb kafta shape in meatball shape. I thought it would be Italian meatball since most items in the menu is Italian. If u come here, just get pizza and pasta. That's what everyone getting and they look good. Don't try to explore outside of that.

You don’t come along fine gems like this very often so you are doing it wrong if you don’t come here when you’re in GR. Fantastic brunch menu and I’ve been told that the dinner is just as amazing! I had the Margherita pizza and can say with confidence that it was one of the top three Woodfire pizzas I’ve ever had. The sauce is robust and really sets it apart. Everything is made in house, even the fresh mozzarella on my pizza. The decor is modern yet simplistic is the vibe and you have an open kitchen view of the chefs working their magic! Absolutely phenomenal service and experience from start to finish.

Madcap Coffee Company is a modern and minimalist cafe that has become a favorite among coffee enthusiasts in Grand Rapids. With experienced baristas who are skilled at creating intricate latte art, Madcap takes its coffee seriously, tasting thousands of bean varieties each year to select the best ones for their cafes. You can even purchase their Roasters Choice bags in-store or have them shipped to you.
My mom and I visited this Madcap location on a Wednesday morning and it was lovely! I wasn't too busy and we were able to find a table easily. The staff were friendly and efficient with our order. I got an iced mocha that was the perfect balance of chocolate and espresso. My mom got a chocolate chip cookie that she really enjoyed. I loved all the plants that this location has as well, it really made the place feel homey! Great spot in Grand Rapids!

I think I’ve found my favorite coffee shop! I’m in from out of town staying around the corner. Searched for a local coffee shop and found Madcap. Loved everything about this shop! The person at the counter took the time to converse which I always appreciate. There is some limited outside seating which was nice. Plenty of inside table and counter seating. A great place to sit with family/friends to converse, or to sit and get some work done. Open and comfortable space with a minimalist approach to decor. Let’s the coffee equipment shine! Also, take the time to look at the decor remnants at the top of the back/brick wall. Beautiful! Oh, and the latte was terrific!! They roast their beans locally!! Pastry assortment was not huge, but tasted great and displayed well.

They have great roasting processes which produce phenomenal beans. This location has pour over brewing method which is a must in my book. They also do espresso drinks. If you are looking for a damn fine cup of coffee Madcap is a must. I highly recommend checking them out and I definitely will be back.

Fish Lads is a must-visit for those in search of fresh seafood and premium meats. Additionally, nearby stores like Old World Olive Co., Spice Merchants, and Carvers offer a variety of flavor-enhancing items perfect for home cooking. If you're planning a dinner party, Aperitivo is the place to go for cheese, charcuterie, wine, and beer. As for dining out, Fish Lads offers proper fish and chips that are highly recommended.
The best perch I've ever had! We stopped into Downtown Market, while taking a day trip into Grand Rapids. It was our first time here, and we immediately noticed the display cases of fresh fish and decided to check it out. The made to order menu wasn't extensive, but seemed focused on quality over quantity. Ordered the Yellow Perch fish and chips, along with the Clam Chowder. The bread is served from another stall over called Field and Fire, it was delicious. Everything was made to order, so out came out piping hot and fresh. The perch was incredible! Perfectly crunchy, seasoned and the portions were good size. The fries were a little salty, but not off putting. The clam chowder was hearty and the bacon added an extra kick of flavor In between Fish Lads and Carvers is an oyster bar where you can sit and enjoy ordered food. It was a great spot to people watch. They also have a small area for tinned goods and seasonings Highly recommend for supporting a local fishery!

Channeling seaside fish deli energy into in the Midwest! I think they do a great job. A few hiccups with the order, but all was well in the end. My friends loved their food as well.

Fair friends. When the salmon run on the grand passes you by. And not-a-one will take your fly. Head up the stream and around the bend where a fish sammy will your heart mend. Knock off the mud from your waders before You enter the hall and head your self toward the back wall. There chowder and chips and fillets await and all steaming hot, your hunger to sate.

Horrible! The lobster was over cooked with oil instead of real butter. So sad, My Mom wasted her money splurging and it was like chewing rubber. I wouldn’t give it a star at all but it won’t let me leave a review without it. So disappointed.

It was a dreary, rainy, cool day for a good hot bowl of soup, and Fish Lad's Clam Chowder Soup did not disappoint! The Clam Chowder Soup was a creamy chowder with wood smoked beans in it and came with a couple slices of bread. This is a perfect fall soup! This was my first visit here and I look forward to trying other things as well.

Disappointed after many good visits. I’ve been to Fish, Lads several times before and always enjoyed the food and service—especially the shrimp ceviche, which was typically served with a side of tortilla chips upon request. However, my most recent visit left me genuinely frustrated. I arrived about an hour before closing, and the person at the counter was extremely dismissive and unaccommodating. Many of the menu items were refused with no explanation other than “we’re not doing that now.” When I politely asked for a small portion of chips to eat with my caviar, I was told I could only have them if I purchased a fish taco. This felt unnecessarily rigid, especially since I’ve been given chips before without issue. I drove over 90 minutes to get here based on past experiences, only to be met with hostility and a clear lack of customer care. I understand policies may change, but the attitude and tone were disappointing. I hope this was just an off night and not a sign of where things are headed.

Palace of India presents a diverse selection of delectable Indian cuisine, crafted with care using both traditional methods like the tandoor and kadhai. Their menu encompasses a wide range of dishes from various regions in India, showcasing the vibrant flavors and colors that characterize this remarkable country. Patrons can indulge in an array of options, including vegetarian fare, succulent tandoori and chicken specialties, as well as enticing entrees featuring lamb, goat, and seafood.
I only had an appetizer, paneer barbecued with onions and peppers and a Marsala tea. A perfect and filling lunch with good heat, flavors and portion. Service was attentive and cordial. They were able to answer my questions about finding southern Indian in GR. Guess I’ll need to road trip! Perhaps slightly more attention to updating folders that the receipts come in—they seemed so old and worn and the tables given a new paint job. The brilliant blue napkins were stunning however. I will be back.

Not as Good as It Used to Be We visited Palace of India during our recent trip to Michigan, having had a great experience there two years ago. Unfortunately, this time the food and overall experience didn’t live up to our previous visit. Last time, the owners personally took care of our table, and the food was exceptional. This time, while the food wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t as great as we remembered. We started with Paneer Tikka and asked our server if we could get Nimbu Pani (lemon water), which isn’t on the menu. At first, he said it wouldn’t be a problem, but after speaking with the cook, he came back and told us they didn’t have lemons. This was confusing since they served lemon slices alongside the Paneer Tikka. It felt like they were making excuses, which didn’t sit well with us. For the main course, we ordered Dal Makhani, Malai Kofta, and Matar Paneer. Out of those, only the Dal Makhani was really good. The other dishes were okay, but nothing special. We also ordered the bread basket, and to finish, we had an order of Gulab Jamun, which was decent. Overall, Palace of India is still a good spot in Grand Rapids, but it’s not as impressive as it was two years ago. The food quality seemed to have dipped, and the service was a bit inconsistent. Hopefully, they can get back to the high standard we experienced during our first visit.

Amazing experience from beginning to end. Whenever we order takeout, the service is smooth and very polite. The food is perfectly seasoned, the chicken is always tender and juicy, and the naan is hot and fresh. We’ll never go anywhere else for Indian!

Great food! I got the veggie dish with peas and mushrooms in a tomato based sauce; I usually get the aloo Gobi but would highly recommend the latter. My girlfriend got one with shrimp and like many other peoples experience there were only a few shrimp in the entree (although they were pretty large shrimp. We also ordered 2 apps, a beer and nann bread. I was very full when I left and the bill was $58... Pretty standard with my dine in experience at Indian restaurants.

Deli

Sandwich shop
Nestled in the heart of Grand Rapids, Two Beards Deli is a delightful spot that has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. This charming deli boasts an impressive menu featuring around 90 sandwiches, including 17 creative grilled vegan options inspired by famous personalities from both real life and fiction. For instance, you can savor The Woody Harrelson, which combines vegan bacon with fresh veggies and chipotle veganaise wrapped in sundried tomato goodness. Another standout is The Dr.
The sandwiches here are delicious. I had the King Leonidas for dinner, and it was great. The deli meats and cheese paired well with the other ingredients, and it was toasted to perfection. This is definitely an excellent option if you’re in the mood for a sandwich. The staff was friendly and they had an interesting selection of drink options. I’d definitely consider eating here again.
Mateo G — Google review
The food is delicious but if you order late and add additions you’re paying extra for don’t expect them to be met. I’m not real picky but if I’m already paying $21 per sub I would expect there to be a sufficient amount of cabbage added to both orders that I paid for and any (instead of none) spinach that I paid for. You could barely see the cabbage and zero spinach
T M — Google review
The food has great flavor, but we were hoping for larger portions. There were a Lot of things to choose from! You can definitely accommodate every type of eater.
Barbara A — Google review
2025 Pros: new point system tied to phone# Cons: sandwiches have increased $4.50 (about $17/ea) and quality/quantity has decreased We visited and ordered 3 sandwiches. Three sandwiches (no sides or drinks) will set you back $55. Even taking into consideration rising costs, this is a bit too much for me. Also, it was really disappointing bc it seems as though the amount of meat/filling has notably decreased. It’s such a cool business and I don’t like to report negatives -but it was already a bit pricey so we didn’t visit often -now, sadly, we probably won’t return. If you look at my old vs new pics, you can see the difference in the sizes of the sandwiches as well as the prices these past 6 months. 2024: Pros: great sandwiches Cons: a kind spot for the houseless to drink beverages and use the bathroom -which, unfortunately, ends up in them also asking for money (repeated x2) making the experience a little awkward. This time around we tried The Anchor and The Hulihee. They were fantastic! Although we did end up changing to takeaway. It is very kind of Two Beards to open their bathrooms and give out beverage cups and a place to sit for the houseless. This said, erratic behavior on top of being asked multiple times for money (once outside and once inside) or to buy sandwiches (x1 same folks came inside and sat next to us) made the experience a little uncomfortable. I truly hate to sound like a Karen. And I hope this doesn’t come off as such. In my experience, saying no or yes results in multiple interactions and I just wanted to eat my sandwich without having repeated further interruptions that provoke my own anxieties of either guilt from saying no or feeling pressured to purchase more and more donated items if saying yes. Original review: OMGosh. O. My. GOSH! One of the top 5 sandwich places of my LIFE! I got the Randy Savage cold sammich; my hubs got the Klingon hot sammich. We were both GROANING. So many choices, it was hard to decide -but I don’t think you can make a bad choice here. We will definitely be back soon to try more!!! Staff were hella friendly and the deli had a fun rockstar vibe.

I don’t get the hype… ok food, insane prices for what you get. This was $30… like what?… plus a 20+min wait while there was only 3 other customers in there. But they did have 3 employees trying to hang t-shirts which I’m assuming was very important.
John E — Google review
Everything a modern downtown sandwich shop should be. Fun decor, the smells of all the fresh meat being cooked, a menu with fun named sandwiches that all look amazing. The sandwiches are served wrapped in a lot of paper and you’ll need it because what I got was so juicy and delicious I wolfed it down and got the grease all over the place. 10/10, would recommend to anyone. two beards goes right up in the top of my list for places I want to eat at when I’m back in Grand Rapids.
Daniel S — Google review
An incredible variety of sandwiches located in a fun, upbeat, and hip downtown location. You’ll likely appreciate the amount of options available, including vegetarian and vegan, even if the amount of choices can seem overwhelming at first. These are wrapped sandwiches, so sometimes the presentation can be a little off, but as long as that doesn’t bother you, you’ll likely enjoy your meal. The staff members are always quite friendly. Be forewarned that even though the restaurant presents as fast casual, you probably will have a bit of a wait compared to a chain like Panera, especially during peak hours. But it’s only because this place is quite popular and each sandwich is made with care. It can also be a bit pricey as a lunch spot, especially if you’re adding on chips, drinks, or desserts. I personally think that added cost is worth it, but some might disagree.

Deli
Schnitz Deli is a classic deli with three locations in Grand Rapids, offering nearly 25 different sandwiches and a 'create your own sandwich' option. The deli is known for its traditional and unique deli sandwiches, with the Brooklyn Reuben being a personal favorite. The menu also includes daily rotating soups that are a perfect pairing or standalone meal.
These sandwiches mean business. They are huge. Could easily split this with someone. They are delicious. I really enjoyed the Chicago Ruben, potato salad and banana cake.
Kelly O — Google review
Disappointed by my most recent visit to Schnitz. I've been getting take out here for several years. Normally their sandwiches are huge, made to order and packed with meat which I enjoy. However today's sandwich barely had any meat on it nor did they put any sauce on the bread. So I basically had dry bread with like 3 slices of meat for lunch. I can't even try to excuse this by saying it was due to the lunch rush when I ordered at 1:30pm and the deli was quite chill when I arrived to pick up my food.

Great Sandwiches at Schnitz Deli Schnitz Deli in Grand Rapids is a popular spot, especially during lunch. It’s a place where you order and pick up your food at the counter. It’s always busy, but the staff is friendly and the line moves fast. People love the sandwiches here. They pile the meat high and put it between really tasty bread. The sauces and extras they add are yummy too. It’s just a really good, big sandwich that makes for a great meal. It’s easy to see why folks like to come here. The food is straightforward but really good. It's the kind of place you might find yourself going back to over and over because you know you're going to get something delicious. The sandwiches are made with care and you can taste it.

I have been recently introduced to Schnitz Deli. The past three days I have had the most amazing sandwiches I have found. It may be a small unassuming looking place but the food that comes out of the kitchen, makes it a must stop if you enjoy tasty eats. I have enjoyed the Tuna Melt , the Black Russian and the Ranchers Roast Beef sandwiches. The simple sandwich that has the huge appeal of a three course meal. I most definately say if you like to eat something that is reasonably priced, tastes great, makes you happy to have eaten it and makes your day better. Stop and sample some of the great food offered at Schnitz's Deli.

Evan’s Double Dip: Corned beef and pastrami were tender and delicious. Didn’t need the extra slice of bread between them. Tuna Melt: meh tuna salad and too little cheese. Friendly staff. Crowded at lunchtime.
Jonathan E — Google review
The corned beef was like processed deli meat. It used to be perfect right off the brisket but not anymore and we paid for two full sandwiches and we only got one fall and one half and the manager said she owed us $1.06 then called me back and said She knows that they’re right because their meat is always Wade over $1.06

One of the Best Deli’s in Grand Rapids!! I went here with my family for a quick bite to eat and it was great! Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar offers a diverse menu of Southern comfort food with a modern twist, complemented by craft beers and cocktails. Whether you're there for brunch, lunch, or dinner, the experience is like being at a family gathering enjoying from-scratch dishes such as shrimp and grits, famous fried chicken, and poboy sandwiches. Located in downtown Grand Rapids, it's known for its revival of Southern cuisine rooted in the Carolina Mountains.
During a recent business trip, I had the pleasure of discovering a charming southern kitchen nestled in a cozy neighborhood. My brunch presentation of each dish was meticulous, from the vibrant, perfectly plated Brussels sprouts appetizer to the succulent mountain flank steak, cooked to perfection. The spectacular food was complemented by the serene atmosphere of sitting on the spacious patio, surrounded by lush greenery under a clear, blue sky—truly an ideal setting. The service was exceptional—attentive without being intrusive, with staff members genuinely welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. I washed down my meal with a refreshing cold brew, which was expertly brewed and served icy cold. Given the memorable experience and the quality of the food and service, I would eagerly dine here again—absolutely, in a heartbeat.

I'm Russian, came here from the west coast recently and I love to try a little bit of everything wherever I go. Fried green tomatoes were absolutely amazing. I've personally never cared for grits previously and this was a delicious match up. Poblano chicken soup did not disappoint, I ordered a second cup. The chicken itself I would personally rate a 6/10. The sauce was good and the preparation was good but, I will personally try the boneless though next time. I myself am not the biggest fan of chicken. The bartender had honest feedback and did not steer me nor other customers wrong! The honesty was refreshing, the service was on point, and the food was worth a Sunday evening outing. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

If you want southern food in Grand Rapids, this very much should be a stop for you. Every dish was fantastic, but I think the greens was my favorite. Deep smokiness to them, cooked to soft but not mush, bacon grumble without any gross bits. Really a superb dish. The bourbon glaze on the meatloaf was a complex masterpiece of blended flavors. Highly recommend. Service was awesome, pleasant, attentive without being pushy or interrupty. What all service in a dinner place should be like. Atmosphere could stand some help. Just felt incredibly commercial and didn't really match with the food and service. Give them a try it's worth it

We were looking for a late lunch spot and as soon as I saw Tupelo Honey, I knew we had to eat there. We were seated immediately and greeted by Charles, our waiter, shortly thereafter. We ordered a flight of mimosas and pimento cheese dip for appetizers. Both were excellent, the flight would have been better had things been chilled. My partner ordered their meatloaf with blue cheese grits, I had their fried chicken and garlic parmesan roasted potatoes and the kid had their cheeseburger and fries. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good service and food. Charles was beyond good as a server and this always makes a meal better

We have been meaning to come here for a long time and now wish we had sooner! The food was so flavorful and was served quickly. Loved the outdoor seating options and chill atmosphere. The only downside was that they don't do anything special for birthdays.

We stopped into Tupelo Honey for lunch and had a great experience. Our server, Fuchsia, was incredibly sweet and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. We couldn’t resist trying the “Biscuits for a Cause” with blueberry jam, and they were an absolute treat—fluffy, flavorful, and a great way to start the meal. Their weekday lunch special is a great deal: half a sandwich and a side for $12.95, available Monday through Friday until 3pm. I went with the chicken pecan salad sandwich paired with the chicken poblano soup, and the combo was perfect—a little sweet, a little spicy, and super satisfying. Highly recommend for a relaxing and delicious lunch in downtown Grand Rapids!

We came in on a Friday night for dinner. We were seated right away and greeted by our server, Ryan. He was super attentive and friendly! The food came out hot, fresh, and in record time! The Brussels sprouts appetizer was fantastic! And the espresso martinis we had for dessert were 10/10!
Sarah P — Google review
I read really great things about the franchise and we were looking forward to it. Sadly we were disappointed. The fried chicken was tiny, poorly presented and dry (overcooked). Collard greens, dry, brussel sprouts overcooked as well. The chicken poblano soup was nice a bit bland for me. I added hot sauce and enjoyed it. The Ashville chicken sandwich was large, attractive but again sadly bland. No spices, a side of saracha honey kept it passable. The favorite part of the meal was the fried green tomatoes! A dash of salt and perfect! Service was good and the drinks were fine! Great location too.

Fantastic place! We were able to park in the garage right by the restraunt which was nice. Nolan is a great host and made us feel welcome. Ashleigh was our waitress and helped us decide what to order. I had the Kata Roll and Oh My Gosh! It was heavenly! Bob got the poutine and said it was the best he has ever had. We got the crepes to go and they were also amazing. I love my margaritas with the mango popsicle. We will definitely be back next year when we are in town for the amazing John Ball Zoo Latern Festival! Thanks for a great experience!

DIVINE! And yes, I meant to do that on all caps. Do yourself a favor and stop in if you can. I'm only in town once a year for a conference, but if they're open, I'll only eat here. It's the most delicious international street food outside the actual street where it comes from. This review is very long overdue as I've been here for lunch and dinner probably a dozen times now, but I guess I can just combine all my experiences into one. This time, I had the poke bowl (salmon, tuna was 86) for lunch, and for dinner, the spicy Thai soup, kapusta burger, and elephant's ear for dessert. Their stout was also very good. And for lunch today, I had my favorite - the (slightly) spicy chicken satay with thick noodles, and peanut sauce with peas/edamame and red onion. The staff is always so attentive, and with the high ceilings and cozy decor, you always feel welcome and valued customer. I'll be back next year! At least times! 😁

I passed this place a hundred times and didn't go in because I thought it was a high-end restaurant. But my son wanted to go, and as it turns out, it's a phenomenal international street food restaurant! What??! I had the Singapore Curry even though it has tofu in it (which i don't like), and my son had the Schnitzel - both delicious, I even liked the tofu! We also tried the chicken satay skewers and the Rangoon dip, which were both fabulous. I had a mocktail called 50 shades of earl grey that was divine. Service was quick, staff friendly, and the place was clean. Will definitely go back!

Really a good place to eat. Food was on point and delicious. I had the jollof rice, a south African dish. It was tasty with the right amount of spices, nothing overwhelming. For drinks the Golden Hour I would highly recommend. Atmosphere was cheerful, wait staff all pleasant and helpful. Location of this restaurant is also really good. Easy to get in and out. Definitely on our list for another visit when we are in GR.

First time checking out Roam and couldn’t be more impressed with my experience! The global cuisine concept is so clever and gives you a great variety of different options within your meal. The Hash Balls, Singapore Curry and Mango Sticky Rice (all pictured) were to die for. All of the staff, especially our server Allie (Ally?) were delightful! Allie was very friendly, informative and definitely sold us on the Pink Pony Club cocktail that she created! (Also pictured, and delicious!) Thank you Allie for making our experience that much better! We will definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu!

Field & Fire is a bakery that prides itself on crafting European-style breads and pastries using organic ingredients. Their offerings include rustic European style breads, authentic French pastries, croissants, cinnamon buns, muffins, and other natural fermentation method-made breads. The bakery uses 100% organic flour and grains while also incorporating locally sourced items whenever possible.
Every time I visit the Downtown Grand Rapids Market, I always buy bread and/or other treats from Field & Fire. Absolutely delicious bread and baked goods. I highly recommend this place. If you are in the Market, be sure to pick up goodies from this great spot!

Greatest place around to get bread! Love their pastries even more. however they are much better when reheated if they’ve been out rather than eating after buying. I would love to see if they could, one day, be able to reheat them behind the counter at the bakery so I could have them right then and there. Please for the love of bread— BRING BACK THE RIGHTEOUS CROISSANT! I loved that one! Never have craved a croissant like that before.

This is a lovely spot to visit at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market. The gal today was very friendly and enthusiastic about the breads she was selling. She told us all about the sample bread, Righteous Seed, which is a darker bread with poppyseeds along with sesame and fennel seeds, Oh my! YUM! We decided to to shop a bit and then get a loaf on our way out, since there were several loaves left. When we came back, there was only a half loaf left but it was better than not having any! We shall be back!

They are located inside the farmers market. They recently moved to a smaller station at the front. We visited in the afternoon on a Wednesday. We got an Apricot pastry, ham and cheese, and a loaf of bread. The person running it was extremely nice and friendly! Gave us ideas on stuff to do around town. Will definitely be back!

I love their croisants and love their bread. But I don't like flies... In this photo there are 2 big flies comfortably sitting on pastry and there are about a dozen little fruit flies that are everywhere. I have seen these flies here on several occasions in August and even asked their workers why there were flies sitting on the pastry. It seems people working there are chill and relaxed about insects at their bakery. I guess the workers feel compassionate for the hungry insects... But if seriously, I hope they can fix this, I would be glad to get back one day! They need those blie light zappers killing flies. I haven't seen any!

Restaurant
One Twenty Three Tavern, located in the entertainment district of Grand Rapids, offers a hip and industrial-chic dining experience with elevated sandwiches, burgers, mains, and craft cocktails. The restaurant is part of the Studio Park complex and provides a unique twist on classic American dishes. Guests can enjoy dining outside in heated tents or greenhouses while also having access to outdoor entertainment such as movies and sports games.
The Tuesday Smash Burger special was good. If you are reading this just after I posted it, know that the prices are fluctuating and may not be accurate. - Smash Burger - $15: The two high quality smash patties about 4oz each (my guess). They were well seasoned with an emphasis on pepper. The pepper was not sharp, but it was deep. The cheese was great. The toppings were well balanced, though I might have added a touch more. The lettuce texture was particularly wonderful. I asked for no pickle and the waitress recommended getting the fancy sauce on the side since it is pickle based (good call). The Nantucket brioche bun was AMAZING (as usual). I’ve had Nantucket bread at multiple other restaurants and look for them now. It was soft, full, and kept the burger together well. - California Garlic Fries - $3 extra: Slightly smaller cut, deeper pepper flavor, a tad too much salt for my tastes, but overall the fries were amazing, cooked perfectly, and hot all the way to the end. There was a generous amount of fries, too. It made the $3 extra worth it! - Old Nation | Oktoberfest: Came free with the Tuesday special for the Smash Burger. - Tuesday Special: According to the website, “Every Tuesday, get our Classic Smash Burger and a brew for only $14.” When I asked about this, it was actually $15 and said that the website was not updated. I just checked the website again after and it was still listed as $14. I was charged $15 + $3 for the fries I asked for. They stick to their prices even when you correct them. They also had pierogies on the menu and I’d like to try them sometime! - Service: Very attentive, positive, and helpful. She caught that I did not care for pickles and recommended getting the fancy sauce on the side (she was right). We did not wait long for anything and our burger arrived in less than 15 minutes. Overall, great service! - Atmosphere: Higher class, clean, organized, but plenty of people were in street clothes. The lighting was darker, medium loud, but plenty good for private conversation. There were booths, but mainly only larger ones. There was also a bar, taller tables and chairs as well as standard high ones, - Conclusion: Good burger. I like pepper, so it was enjoyable for me. I think the prices were fair for the quality, service, and pleasant atmosphere. I’d recommend them. Visited at 7pm on a Tuesday.

Nice dinner last night before a show a few blocks away at Pyramid Scheme. Place was about half full so quick seating, enjoyed the smash burger/fries/beer tuesday special (great deal) with crab cakes. The burger was fantastic, fries came out lukewarm and pretty oily but very tasty (fries might’ve made in advance for the special and maybe the fryer wasn’t hot enough?). Friendly & quick service was nice. I’d go back again for sure but hoping for hot/fresh fries next time.

We really enjoyed going to One Twenty Three Tavern prior to our movie. The Parm fries are phenomenal!! I also really liked my the Fried Chicken sandwich. If you are looking for a place to grab dinner prior to a movie One Twenty Three Tavern is a great place to stop by. I would recommend and will probably stop back in before a show at celebration cinema.

Delicious meals, friendly staff, tasty drinks. The apple and brie grilled cheese was PHENOMENAL. This place is absolutely worth walking a little bit away from the more hoppin' part of downtown; we waited three minutes for a table when other restaurants were estimating 30 minute waits. Felt like a hidden gem! Found accidentally, but we will certainly be back!

The food was excellent and the service was fantastic despite the dinner rush. I ordered the apple and Brie grilled cheese with garlic fries and was very impressed with the unique flavors. It was a substantial serving and was very decadent. Though there was a long wait for a table, I managed to score a seat at the bar and the bar tenders were excellent. They were efficient, friendly and offered some helpful suggestions. One Twenty Three is conveniently located downtown and right next to the Canopy by Hilton Hotel. It's also walking distance to the Van Ansel Arena. I highly recommend a meal here.

Started off a little rough and certainly did not appreciate the upsell on fries when they made it sound like a choice but really it was $3 extra. The food was great though
D H — Google review
The food was ok, not great. We all loved the garlic fries, everything else was just meh. However, the service was great and the vibe of the restaurant was really cool.
Brandy T — Google review
The absolute best dining experience I have had. Drinks, food, atmosphere and service were 110%! I couldn’t recommend more and cannot wait to be back, well done. Drinks are pictured but the food was to die for…. The spinach artichoke dip was incredible same with the mahi mahi tacos and Brussel sprouts (ask to put a kick of spice of you like some spice and they will). pictured is the Strawberry spritz!

American restaurant
Leo's Coney Island On Tap is a popular chain diner offering a wide range of American comfort food and Greek specialties. The cozy atmosphere and excellent customer service make it a great spot for lunch meetings or casual dining. The menu includes breakfast served all day, making it convenient for any time of the day. With efficient service and a nice drink selection, it's an ideal place to grab a quick meal or enjoy some drinks before an event at the nearby Van Andel Arena.
The food was okay. The salad dressing really didn’t taste as good as I thought it would but the food was fresh! The chili dog was amazing!

This place has decent food for the price point. We have only ever ordered take out from this location only and never been to another one of their locations. Staff and service is always friendly. There is something for everyone on their menu. I love the classic gyro (pictured) and my wife gets the buffalo chicken gyro with curly fries(also pictured) and loves it as well. The curly fries are similar to those of a popular fast food chain "R-B's". Also pictured is the cony island dog with cheese and extra onion, and an order of mozzarella sticks. Oh, and they have the good restaurant style ranch dressing as well! We have come here for takeout many times and we will continue to do so as long as the food quality and pricing stays consistent. I would consider it one of the best gyros in town.
Chris M — Google review
Everything outside of food was palatable including friendly hostess. Same cannot be said for unappetizing Campbell's tier tomato soup and 'speciality' dog with cold shredded cheese and even colder appeal. Total miss on both but damage was only $11 including tasty coca cola
FD D — Google review
Very consistent menu with all the other Leo's Coney Island's we've visited in the past in the Detroit area - excellent. And the bonus here is to have a beer also!

We were in town for a wedding and staying nearby, so we decided to stop in for breakfast. To our surprise, we were the only customers there on a Saturday morning. Our waitress recommended the breakfast pita, and it was fantastic—she definitely knew what she was talking about. We also had a mimosa made with a sweet wine, which was a delightful way to start the day!
Jessica P — Google review
Love coming in to grab some mozzy sticks with a west side coney, absolutely delicious. The mozzarella sticks especially hit the spot and I tend to be picky about those. The staff are super friendly but I always make sure to go out of my way to grab a bite to eat when Gabby's on schedule because she is the MAN. Super fun and bubbly energy, it's a nice pick me-up when my day is going a little rough. The service and atmosphere is so comfy and fun so you got a loyal customer on your hands :)

We stopped by briefly for a quick drink Aug. 15 2025 between 17:45-18:00 for a wine and whiskey. I only put the date because I didn’t get the chance to get anyone’s names but the two ladies who served me plus the gentlemen I spoke with briefly to use the bathroom were the most kind people! To everyone: GO HAVE A DRINK THERE OR EAT SOMETHING EVEN IF ITS 10 MINS LIKE I DID. They are amazing. Our first time downtown there and we had a blast. Thank you to the staff and the cute little area to play games.
Annika L — Google review
Came in yesterday for lunch with a co-worker. We worked through right up the street at an insurance firm so a lot of us frequent this place. I ordered a coney dog combo and my coworker ordered a chicken tender salad. I personally thought the hot dog tasted weird, I only took two bites and decided not to eat more. After cashing out and getting outside my coworker said all of a sudden her stomach was hurting and we walked back to work and I was like I think I’m fine. We got into the office and within 20 min of sitting down I had to go to the bathroom profusely sweating, heart racing, and puking and diarrhea. After too much time in the bathroom I came back out to my desk and my coworker came up to me letting me know she was super sick now and she ended up having to go home. I did as well that is how sick we both got. I called the restaurant to say I think we got food poisoning and the person who answered the phone said “food poisoning doesn’t come on that fast” like ummm are you sure you took the necessary food handling and safety courses? Either way we both couldn’t eat the food we ended up taking in to go boxes as we were not risking eating more contaminated food. Personally I will not be eating here again and I made sure our whole team knows how sick we got after eating here. I would assume you will lose a good chunk of customers from this as we are a rather large company. Please check your expiration dates, certify safe food handling and storage of food to ensure you are not serving bad food.

Describing Cygnus27 as an upscale latin american restaurant, the establishment is perched atop the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan and offers guests a menu of globally inspired dishes that are sure to tantalize. Chef Werner Absenge prepares each dish with love and care, resulting in mouth-watering fare that is perfect for any occasion. My husband and I stopped in for brunch on Easter, and oh man, it was amazing. They had a little bit of everything from French toast to eggs Benedict along with an omelet, crepe, and meat carving station. Additionally, the dessert spread was out of this world. Everything was almost too pretty to eat. Also, don’t forget to try the mimosas! We will definitely be back.

I loved my visit here. My wonderful son-in-law and daughter took me here for my birthday in October. Loved everything about this restaurant. The view is fantastic, the food beyond delicious, the dessert so yummy, the service amazing, and the place is clean, clean, clean. Even the stainless steel in the restroom was shiny and finger-print free. Gotta love that! I enjoyed the view. I had a hard time trying to decide what to order because there were so many delicious sounding options. I watched several other diners having their meals served at they were all presented so neat and nice. I did opt for the Roasted Rack of Lamb. This was mouth-watering delicious. Every bite better than the last. It came with purple roasted potatoes but I really enjoyed the grilled radish. So good. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the dessert I tried but it was so beautiful when it was placed on the table I didn't want to destroy it with my fork. I posted a picture so you could see how lovely it looked...and it tasted even better. The fun part was the little gold foil on top that was actually edible. At the end of the meal we were served a little cookie in a cute dish. I loved the entire experience I know this is a restaurant I will come back to. Yes, it was a bit more expensive than some places, but I feel it was totally worth it. If I could dole out 10 stars, this restaurant would deserve it. Thank you Cygnus27 for a great evening.

Wonderful service and the food was delectable. Anna our server was so much fun and was excellent. The gluten free bread and butter was so YUMMY!!! The chef this the cucumber salad made a goat cheese with coconut milk and that was delightful. If you are looking for a place to try some new, different, and outside the box...look no further. We had the cucumber salad, Spanish meatballs, duck empanadas, blue corn crusted calamari, and the dessert was the cholcolate sphere. Looking forward to eating here again.

A truly great experience with a very impressive setting that features unique views of the city and region as the weather was great providing perfect visibility and a stunning sunset. The staff was excellent, especially our impressively knowledgeable server. Her excellent and unbiased descriptions were very helpful. The food was absolutely amazing, from the duck empanadas and civiche through the paella mixta and scallops enters. All perfectly prepared with very authentic flavors and textures. The chocolate sphere and limon tarta was a perfect finish. Highly recommend.

Flea & Street Markets
Fulton Street Market, established in 1922, is a vibrant outdoor market that brings together local farmers, producers, and artisans year-round. It offers an abundance of fresh produce, artisanal foods, and handcrafted goods while creating a direct link between consumers and regional growers.
Lovely experience! Local artists selling their wares, delicious trucks, and little coffee spots. This made for a nice Sunday post-brunch stroll whilst sipping some yummy hot apple cider. Will be back!

Wow!! Just wow!!! The rainbow of colors from all the flowers & produce was unreal!! What a neat market!! Wish we had something like this at home!! Special place!! Check it out!
James V — Google review
Fulton Street Market is a very clean and well organized Farmers Market. I didn't spend much time looking at the flowers or the crafts sections (though there were a lot of them), but there were plenty of quality options for me to get the fresh peppers (and several varieties), tomatoes, and onion to make my spicy "fall" chili! 🍂 I was also able to get some fresh new spices to work with, and check out the many options for buying raw honey! (I will be back for the honey!) They're open year round, but during the warmer months, they're open 3 days a week, which is awesome! I definitely recommend checking it out!
Andy S — Google review
Lots of fun and tons of wonderful artists. So much to look at. I suggest getting there early to get a parking spot close to the market. I definitely plan on going back again as it was a nice way to spend a few hours on a Sunday!

August 2025 - We are from Pennsylvania and went to the market 8/23. There is NO question this is the best farmers market we have ever seen before. They have so many small farms there its really not funny. The selection of home grown products is absolutely incredible. Other markets should use this market as the gold standard. Please keep up the great things you are doing.

The Amway Grand Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton is a luxurious hotel located in downtown Grand Rapids. The newly renovated Celeste Salon & Spa offers a range of beauty and wellness services, with indoor and outdoor relaxation spaces, steam rooms, saunas, and access to the hotel's pool and fitness center. The hotel boasts traditional rooms with scenic views and complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as five restaurants for dining options.
Lovely views, beautiful food, and everything you need on-site. Plus who else has lighted steam resistant mirrors in their bathrooms? Also very quiet because the rooms are so well-insulted. Staff are super nice. Valet treats you like royalty. Nice decor. Beds are so comfortable! It's all very fun and highly recommended.
Rachel B — Google review
This is a great hotel. My wife and I have stayed here several times over the years, mostly for work conferences. The location is perfect for shopping of exploring different restaurants downtown. If you are a runner or like taking walks along the river front, this is a perfect spot. I highly recommend the river view rooms for the view of the sunset alone. The rooms have small bathrooms and the towels were not as plush as would have expected, but the view is amazing.
Daniel M — Google review
The bars and restaurants within this hotel are incredible and the service matches, don’t get me wrong. The valet service was also one of a kind and helped us with a special circumstance to accommodate. But the great service and accommodation ended there. Be careful of what room you book. Most don’t come with anything often considered to be standard: no microwave, no ice bucket, no refrigerator. I can expect all of these things at a basic holiday inn for $200/night, so I definitely didn’t expect to not have them at a hotel I paid $400 for. Lastly, we ordered food to be delivered to the hotel. We got back from our event too late one of the nights to eat within the designated restaurant hours (understandable! It was a Tuesday.) The food got delivered but we didn’t get a single notification of such from the front desk; not even a phone call. It wasn’t until we called the place of business we ordered from that they told us it was delivered 15 minutes prior. When I went and asked the front desk the gentleman informed me it was “my job to check on that”. Still feel like he could have picked up the phone to call. Overall, not what I’d expect at all from such a beautiful and amazing looking hotel; especially for the price.
Kelli B — Google review
This is a nice hotel in the heart of downtown. There is plenty of places to eat and enjoy yourself in the immediate surroundings. It is a short walk from the Ford Presidential Library, and about a 10 minute walk from Grand Rapids New Holland Brewing location and other unique shops and dining locations. The rooms are descent sized, clean and quiet. We stayed in room 2181 which had nice floor to ceiling windows on two walls with a nice view of the city. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with plenty to do, this is a fun place to try.
Travis M — Google review
I have been staying here with my wife for a long time. Customer service quality has let me down lately. Valet is awesome. Front desk is not polite and condescending. Cant take towels from pool to rooms is very Cannot order drinks to the room. No late check out each time i ask for one. Edited, (reason at the end of review): Spa never answer phone calls. I cant say this enough but nobody can beat Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria (I know its part of Hilton). But at least Amway should try to beat JW Marriot across street customer service. Lastly, General Manager refuses to call me to discuss these issues. Edited 10/15/25 “The General Manager reached out to me on the very same day, and I could really sense his genuine concern about how I was treated and the poor service we experienced. It’s clear that he cares deeply about his customers and is committed to making things right. I appreciate his efforts and look forward to returning soon”.
Victor H — Google review
This is a nice hotel and it's right at the heart of the city. You can easily walk to the local hot spots or can a short ride. The rooms are a bit small for my liking and in an antique style. Everything this else, amenities, service, etc. is great. I would come back again.
Aaron P — Google review
I've stayed at the Amway twice now for GrandCon and it was a wonderful experience both times. The rooms are always clean and I love that they have a complimentary refrigerator because of all the delicious restaurants in the area. It's a gorgeous place and I just love being in that building. Highly recommended. Next year I'll try to take pictures and update.
Nicole L — Google review
Disappointing and Unaccommodating Stay We stayed here while attending a convention and had a really disappointing experience. First, we were not given the room we requested, and when we asked about it, staff told us all those rooms were already taken due to a busy week. Then, the hotel bar was completely closed off for a different private convention, and when we tried to order drinks to take up to our room, we were told we couldn’t because we didn’t have a seat in the bar area even though we were unable due to another scheduled event. It felt unwelcoming and poorly managed, especially for a well decorated hotel that regularly hosts conventions. We expected much better hospitality and communication for paying guests, and have had a great experience in the past. Would not recommend staying here if you’re attending an event and expect to be treated fairly.
