Italian restaurant
Union Restaurant is a cozy gastropub that offers Italian-influenced farm-to-table cuisine in a bright, brick-walled setting. The menu focuses on fresh ingredients and features dishes like roasted beets salad with thinly sliced radishes and cara cara oranges, as well as mussels and guanciale in a delicious broth. The restaurant's polenta is highly recommended and the small plates showcase top-notch ingredients in simple yet artful preparations.
so glad i was able to return here on my recent trip to socal. i had been dreaming about having the squid ink lumache again for TWO YEARS, and it was just as delicious as i remembered it tasting. so rich & creamy, and i love the acidic flavors mixed in from the lemon. the noodles in this dish have a perfectly chewy texture too. i also had the chance to try the campanelle, which was fantastic. the service here is wonderful, but their pastas (all made in-house) are the most standout to me. their noodles hold sauces & flavors so well, making the dishes such a joy to eat. i’m already dreaming about the next time i’ll get to enjoy the squid ink lumache 🤤

Union is a must to try if you are around Old Pasadena — and honestly, even if you are not… it’s worth the drive !! It is easily one of my top favourite spots in town 💫 The service is always great, the staff is incredibly friendly and the food is very delicious 😋 You can feel there’s a lot of thought and care behind every dish. As a foodie, I love when a meal gives you that feeling—like every ingredient was purposefully chosen and beautifully prepared ❤️❤️ The menu changes every now and then that’s why my pictures are from two different visits. They are using fresh seasonal food so just another reason to go as often as I can 😂😂

This is a great restaurant for gatherings with family and friends. We went on a Monday evening and had made an online reservation, so there was no wait when we arrived. The hostess at the front was very nice, and we were able to get a seat outdoors just like we hoped. Our server was patient and took the time to explain the menu, even recommending a delicious appetizer. We ordered two pasta dishes: One was squid ink lumache and the other was a name ends with Pepe. Overall, everything was really good. The portions were on the smaller side, which was actually nice because it allowed us to try more flavors. The drinks were also well-made — the house-made Italian grapefruit soda was especially refreshing. All in all, we’d definitely come back to try other dishes next time.
Irene H — Google review
We’re a party of 8 and ordered 4 appetizers, 5 pasta dishes, and 1 main dish. It was a little too much for our group, but to be fair, half of the party doesn’t eat much in general. I loved almost every single dish we ordered. Each of us had our own favorite pasta, and 4 out of 5 pastas had their own fan(s). That really shows how good their pastas are, an 80% hit rate! You almost can’t go wrong with any choice; it all comes down to personal preference. Our server was excellent and very helpful with recommendations. We couldn’t decide on our fifth pasta, and the one she suggested ended up being my personal favorite. It had butternut squash and pine nuts. Yummmm! Will definitely come back again!

Love the concept of shareable Italian so that dinner is a sampling of many dishes and Union did not disappoint. A fantastic range of flavors and homemade pasta - worth visiting again.
Chris D — Google review
Union is a gem! The pasta was incredibly fresh, the flavors were authentic, and the service was top-notch especially waitress Chase. Cozy atmosphere and the olive oil cake is a must-try. Would dine here again!
Sheena M — Google review
I went for dinner on a Monday night. No reservation but I didn't have to wait. I ordered the mushrooms and the squid ink pasta. The musrooms came out quickly and the plate was very hot. I really enjoyed the mushrooms they had amazing flavor almost meaty. Unfortunately it took 35 minutes between my appetizer and main plate to came out. There was no follow up by the server. This was disappointing- at least provide me an update. The squid ink pasta had a nice flavor, a good amount of lobster and the pasta was al dente but it wasn't served very hot. So mid way through eating the dish it was Luke warm. Eating Luke warm pasta is not ideal, but i still enjoyed it. If the service would improve I would be more inclined to return.

I see why Eater rated this one of the best restaurants in Pasadena. Our waitress was lovely and the food was very good. We had the Brussel sprout salad, bread with pickled vegetables (excellent), meatballs (my husband really liked them and I saw a lot of tables with them), the lobster pasta and the pork ragu pasta. I very much liked the pork ragu. I was happy to have followed the Eater's recommendation.

Italian restaurant
Bakery
Brunch restaurant
Mi Piace is a bustling, modern restaurant offering Californian-Italian cuisine with patio seating. For over 32 years, this local hot spot has been serving authentic Italian dishes prepared in its award-winning kitchen and famous bakery. The interior, designed by renowned American designer Tony Chi, exudes an upbeat vibe inspired by trendy Manhattan. The menu features upscale dishes like fresh pasta, pizza, and lasagna, including customer favorites such as fresh baked focaccia bread and spaghetti alla carbonara.
The Caprese Burrata was a refreshing appetizer, I enjoyed the ratio of tomato to burrata. The Fettucine Alfredo Tartufo was so delicious, 9/10! The wider pasta noodles paired really well with the cream sauce, which was flavorful and not too heavy like other versions of this dish. But the portion size was a bit smaller than expected. Perfect for one person, but if you want to share dishes or are hella hungry, I’d recommend ordering two. The Farfalle Salmone Vodka was also very tasty. The smoked salmon was very salty, but if you eat it in small bites with pasta, the flavors balance out well. Solid 8/10! The open kitchen adds to the ambiance, but the restauraunt itself was quite dim. I think an addition of candles or mini centerpieces would really enhance the atmosphere. Although the service was a bit slow and difficult to get attention, the restauraunt was so busy and we didn’t mind too much. Shoutout to the one chef who went around asking how everyone’s dinner was. Gave him a fistbump and he kindly gave us a tiramisu on the house. Which was bomb!!! Perfectly balanced flavors and sweetness. Would come back just for that dessert. Overall, would definitely recommend this place to anyone craving some authentic italian.

Food is good. The bread was our favorite with the escargot. I had the shrimp scampi. The menu said it came with 4 shrimp, I only got 3. Service was not that good. We had to wait a long time for the waiter to come back to us regarding our check or dessert. We felt it was overpriced for what you get. We wouldn’t go back. There’s no parking. It’s on a very busy street.
Gail C — Google review
Delicious pasta..really enjoyed pollo lasagna, calamari, spaghetti and meatballs, and pizza. Ambience is nice and service is great. Little pricey but you come here to enjoy fresh pasta! Dessert was good but skip apple pie, some odd herb thrown in and it just threw off the whole taste but great chocolate cakes. Enjoyed our midnight fantasy and velvet panache. Also recommend making a reservation, gets pretty packed and lounge may get crowded.

Had dinner here celebrating my bestfriends birthday. I can not say enough good things about this place. Food was AMAZING!! Service was IMPECCABLE!! Drinks were STRONG!! The owner very graciously game us complimentary desert. I spent a couple hundred but it was worth every penny for every delicious bite.
Catherine G — Google review
We came here for a business meal. Ordered the escargot but it was unnecessarily smothered in oil n herbs that u couldn’t even taste the delicacy. I have had better tasting ones. For main course, I ordered the steak as medium but they sent it as well done. I didn’t wanna return it in front of my business peers but for $74 they should know how to cook a steak. It’s not that difficult. Even the garnishing looks cheap n unnecessary for a high class restaurant like this. Disappointed that my meal was sub par given the prices and other reviews.

Found this restaurant in 2021 and have been going ever since for business lunches/dinners, birthdays, dates, and even late night last minute meals. The owner, Armen, is great and always greeting us as we pass by or while we are eating. The host/hostess are always accommodating to the last minute changes when able, and the waiter, waitresses, and bussers are all very kind.
Matt M — Google review
Great bar, food and service. The bartender made an excellent perfect Manhattan for me to start. Use 100 proof rye whiskey which gave a bit of a bite to the cocktail. For dinner I had the mi piace salad which had a nice light dressing to it and wonderfully crisp lettuce. For the main course I opted for the mi piace version of cioppino. That was the best sauce I've ever had for a dish like that and it had just the right amount and variety of seafood. The Chianti we had was great. The service was attentive and friendly. I will be back!
Rick D — Google review
Mi Piace has been a solid choice in Old Pasadena for over 25 years, and it shows. Came here with a friend for dinner after FIFA Club World Cup game Monterey vs River Plate. Service was smooth. Staff was attentive but not overbearing. Interior feels upscale without being stiff. Good for dates, small groups, or casual business dinners. Prices are fair for the area and the quality. Expect $25–$40 per entree. You come here when you want something reliable, well-prepared, and with good service. I’ve eaten here more than once. Never had a bad meal. Would recommend for both locals and out-of-towners.

Fine dining restaurant
Grill
Bar
Parkway Grill, an upscale restaurant in Pasadena, has been serving Californian cuisine in an elegant and art-filled setting since 1984. The dining experience at Parkway Grill is a blend of casual sophistication and elegance, complete with a grand piano. Specializing in Regional American Cuisine, the restaurant uses a seasonal, market-driven approach to cooking that incorporates diverse influences and classic French technique.
My recent visit to The Parkway Grill in Pasadena was truly exceptional! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the elegant atmosphere and sophisticated décor. The dim lighting, crisp linens, and refined ambiance set the tone for a special evening. But what truly stole the show was the incredible cuisine. We indulged in the succulent lobster, which was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The portion was generous, and the presentation was stunning. And don't even get me started on the desserts! The decadent chocolate cake was rich, velvety, and utterly divine. Each bite was a masterclass in texture and flavor. Throughout our meal, the service was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Our server expertly guided us through the menu, offering spot-on recommendations and ensuring that our glasses were always full. Overall, I highly recommend The Parkway Grill to anyone seeking a refined and indulgent dining experience. With its exceptional cuisine, elegant atmosphere, and top-notch service, this restaurant is sure to impress even the most discerning palates.

Service is absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere is also lovely. It’s clear why this restaurant is a popular choice for celebrating special occasions. The food, however, lacks a little bit of the wow factor you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Still a great meal, though.
Keanan B — Google review
Our second time having dinner here! Definitely a special place to bring your loved ones and enjoy a meal together. Service is impeccable and they make you feel welcomed. Our waiter and his team were attentive, courteous and genuinely hospitable. The staff, the food and the elegant atmosphere all made for another memorable experience for us!
N S — Google review
Fantastic on all metrics. The food was perfectly prepared and delicious, and the interior design and ambiance is next level. Perfect for date night or any special occasion. The staff are great and super friendly. I wanted to step out during dinner to watch the Falcon 9 from Vandenberg, and they were very accommodating. Parking lot is valet only. Overall highly recommended!
Shawn S — Google review
Absolutely delicious food with 16 of us in a side room. Sadly and this was the only bad thing, there were 16 of us, and two other groups, four and 8, so loud when alcohol is involved. Ok, so now the service, AMAZING waiter, staff. Food danged good. The beet salad, refreshing, and the Tiger shrimp, amazing, although my scallops were a bit dry, perhaps frozen before? The branzino, $56, boneless, poached, and delicious. Old fashioned was good. My Hubby's martinis perfect with earrings. His rum cake, not rum cake, and a little dry. My desert, the lava cake, was dry in the center, however when I told the waiter, the kitchen sent a brand new one with the proper lava! Delicious. Overall a good dining experience. $360 for two of us maybe not, but good enough.

I've been dining at the Parkway Grill for decades. I hadn't been there in a while and it's good to know that it's still as good as ever. Great food, beautiful setting nice service. The mushroom encrusted scallops were exceptional.

Very nice place with excellent service. Food was excellent with great choices of wine and drinks from the bar. I never turn down the opportunity to dine here. I've been here with a small party and a big party and the food and service has always been excellent. Valet service is available and I highly recommend using it.

Lucky Boy is a popular local spot in Pasadena known for its charbroiled burgers and breakfast burritos. The restaurant, with two locations, serves up a legendary breakfast burrito that has gained quite a reputation. This behemoth of a burrito is filled with home fries, breakfast meat, shredded cheddar, and scrambled egg all wrapped in a tortilla. It's available all day long and draws crowds from across Los Angeles.
My buddy told me about this place. We got their famous breakfast burrito. It's freaking huge and awesome! The only thing that could make it better would be some jalapenos inside of it. They have an awesome seating area. This place is great. You can sit inside if you want. I want to try their pastrami sandwich.
Gregory K — Google review
Originally opened in 1961, this spot is most famous for their breakfast burritos and burgers. They specialize in quick, casual, large sized to-go orders, however, there is an area where you can eat inside at one of their many booths. I have been here a few times and every time, even if there is a line, I never have to wait long for my order. There is a large free parking lot attached so parking is really easy and plentiful. They have a very large menu with all sorts of different options on it, but for this most recent visit, I got the Double Cheeseburger with avocado and loved it. The patties are really well seasoned, and they threw a ton of avocado on it which I loved. It’s just a really great comfort food option and really hits the spot when you’re in that mood. I also ordered a bowl of their Chili, and really liked it. It’s one of the better versions in the area and I would recommend if you are a fan.
Zan L — Google review
Super yummy little spot! I think this is an old, iconic location in Pasadena. It's a burger stop, but they have a wide range of sandwiches as well as burritos and a couple other assorted items. It has a diner sort of feel to it, with both inside and outside seating. I went with my family and we each had something different and then shared zucchini and regular fries. Great flavors, everything came out fast and service was friendly! Prices are very reasonable and if anything the portion sizes are rather large. Most of us took half of the food to-go. Fun place to grab a quick bite to eat! Would go again and try something else.
Maika R — Google review
Had a wonderful Lunch with friends here! Atmosphere was incredibly cleaned, staff was respectful and full with joy while working. Definitely coming back soon with my group again. First time trying Lucky Boys and didn’t disappoint. Prices are reasonable, and great portions and size.
Isaiah G — Google review
This place slaps hard because where else are you getting a giant pastrami sandwich with thick cuts of super flavored, juicy, well-seasoned pastrami and fries? I've been to a lot of places that sell pastrami, and this is the first place that is worth the $14. Delicious! Oh, and my husband got the turkey melt but ate it too fast for me to take a picture, so I guess that was also delicious.
Rozalynn F — Google review
The food here is as good as it was when I first visited over ten years ago. Portions are large and I struggled to eat half of my double cheeseburger as I added a side of onion rings to my order (made it through about a third of those). The place hasnt changed which is a large part of its charm. The food came out quickly and the staff was very nice. Can't recommend it highly enough.
D A — Google review
Came here with family after a long day in the LA area and we were passing by. This place stays open late and their food was delicious! I was surprised by the variety of foods they served and how good everything was! Will make it a point to stop by here when passing through the area.

Lots of patrons. Quick service. Their burgers have plenty of lettuce, onions, pickles, avacados and tomatoes. The meat gets lost in the burger. All the other flavors you can taste.

Sushi restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Restaurant
Osawa is a popular Japanese restaurant located in Old Town Pasadena, known for its chic blond-wood-accented space and authentic cuisine. The restaurant is owned by a husband-and-wife duo, executive chef Shigefumi and Sayuri Tachibe, who offer a fusion of traditional and modern Japanese dishes. The menu features an array of small Japanese plates, classic Bento boxes, rice bowls with Udon noodles, and beef curry.
You can count on Osawa to deliver fresh, high quality, sushi every time. It’s got great ambience and the service is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I’d recommend a reservation because it’s super popular. I had a reservation for my bday last month and still had to wait 45 mins and rush through eating since they were closing soon. I’d definitely just plan ahead. This place is worth it. I haven’t found better quality sushi than this place!
Alexandria V — Google review
Absolutely delicious! Probably one of the best sushi I've ever had. I'd recommend sitting at the bar so the chefs can personally make suggestions and you would get to see the masters at work.

OMG WOW… JUST WOW… We came here on a Wednesday and it was still popping while so much in this are was dead. Incredible ambiance and AMAZING FOOD + SERVICE. Heavenly. I can only imagine how popular this place gets because the food is so worth it. And thee servers have guidance one what to order as well. Highly recommend. Do not miss.

Exceptional food, the freshest fish, brilliantly crafted desserts, and heartwarming hospitality from the whole team. Lots of thought put into all the details and side dishes, with subtle, elevated takes on even the simple classics (I really loved how they did the eggplant.) So good I had to cancel my other reservations and eat here twice in one day. A Pasadena gem I’ll look forward to visiting again.
Linda C — Google review
This is a MUST! Make sure to get a reservation, it's small and packed! It's a testimony to their craft. The food is so delicious, the staff and service were unmatched, and it's honestly one of the best sushi dining experiences I've ever had. There was no bad choice. I can't wait to go back.
Megan Y — Google review
We haven't gone for a while but went recently during brunch. Without any reservations, we lined up as walk-ins, seated immediately as we were the first guests. Something new to try...mini crabs, still alive when we ordered them. Though they were small after quick flash frying, they were delicious. Besides the crabs, all dishes ordered were fresh and delicious! Thanks to Sho and all servers, they were attentive and pleasant.

Bakery
Old Sasoon Bakery is a charming Middle Eastern bakery in Pasadena that has been serving up delicious Armenian and Mediterranean baked goods for over four decades. The bakery offers an array of treats, including zaatar-crusted flatbreads, soujouk-filled beorags, and jingalov hatz bursting with dill. While the bakery recently added an indoor dining room, their sunny sidewalk patio remains a popular spot to enjoy freshly baked bread and pastries along with a cup of coffee.
We always go here when we are visiting Pasadena. The food is delicious, the service friendly, the prices reasonable, and the atmosphere is casual. They did a recent expansion, creating a larger indoor dining area in addition to several tables outside. Be adventurous! You'll be in for a treat
Sander W — Google review
My husband and I found this amazing place today near our house, its food is delicious, prepared at the moment and the flavor is genuine, the prices are very acceptable and the atmosphere is unique, for breakfast, lunch or something in the afternoon, it surely became our favorite place
Caro C — Google review
The food here is lovely and the service is top notch. I stopped by on the way to work and ordered a khachapuri with soujouk and a spicy cheese roll to go. The patio was lovely, so I ended up starting my breakfast here before leaving and the purveyor came out with hot sauce and napkins after seeing me through the front windows. They are very attentive and informative when I asked questions. The bread is out of this world and the serving sizes are on the larger side. Great stop for a quick on the go breakfast or larger savory orders. Inside is clean and the patio has shade covers.

I’m in Pasadena for the first time for a conference and I’m always tired, BUT a friend and made an effort to wake up early and walk almost 3 miles to Old Sassoon for breakfast. BEST. IDEA. EVER. Amazing bakery and super lovely people. If you are ever in the area for a conference, vacation, or any reason: make this a stop! I got the Khachapuri with extra veggies, a coffee, and a lovely pistachio baklava. YUMMMMMM!

Great place! Very clean and nice ambiance, friendly and patient staff, delicious fulfilling and affordable food. We two had the khachapuri with soujouk (soft bread loaded with cheese and a runny egg), a shableh (cream filling, must try!), a pistachio baklava, a sahlab (thick milkshake). Will go again to try others.

Howlin' Ray's Hot Chicken in Pasadena offers a more convenient and enjoyable dining experience compared to its original location in Chinatown. The new spot boasts ample parking, efficient staff who provide wait time updates via text, and a lively atmosphere with a beer and wine menu accompanied by hip-hop music. Additionally, the area around the restaurant is filled with diverse dining options, making it an exciting destination for food enthusiasts.
Phenomenal. I think I've never seen a better fast food restaurant execution. From giving our umbrellas against the heat while you wait to super friendly, attentive and upbeat service. Plus, the food is absolutely incredible. One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Well worth the wait. I'll be back.

Southern food is becoming popular, and this place is no exception. The line tends to get long. We waited about 30 minutes to order and had to wait additional 15 minutes for our food to be ready. We ordered The Sando in mild, collard greens, a solo waffle, and a solo wing. Everything was very yummy except for the collard greens—I found it a tad too salty for my liking. While the food and service were good, I found the place to be too loud to have a normal conversation without raising my voice. I would just make my food to go next time.

We waited in line for over an hour which was expected. But after you've stood in it you realize the restaurant is intentional with that pace. Regardless the chicken is very good, and the seasoned fries are excellent. The mild spice is quite mild here. I'd like to try the medium spiciness but I don't know how long I'm willing to wait for it. The staff is really stoked to work there and try and create a bar/club environment, but for fried chicken. It's kinda fun

Been wanting to try this place for around 8 years, so glad me and my family were able to finally try it today! 1st off the customer service is wonderful. The workers were so sweet and helpful. One even brought me a stool while we waited for our food and as I held my toddler. And the sandwich’s were the best hot chicken sandwich’s I’ve had. It was a fun experience overall. It is a bit chaotic and busy inside, we took it to go.

Visiting from New Jersey, I had to see what all the hype was about and Howlin' Ray's completely delivered. The chicken is perfectly crispy, juicy, and seasoned with incredible flavor. The sandwich is outstanding, with the slaw, pickles, and sauce balancing the heat beautifully. Even the fries and comeback sauce were top-notch. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the food quality was excellent from start to finish. I've had great chicken back home, but this place truly stands out - definitely worth the trip and the wait. This place is a must whenever I come here!

These guys have been #1 in LA for years and for good reason. Their chicken sandwich was one of the biggest I've eaten and seasoned perfectly. I got an extra tender because I was hungry when I ordered, but had to save it for later. The fries were amazing as well. The best part was the staff though. They were all super friendly and attentive to anything you might need. Would definitely come more if I lived on this part of the city. So if you live on the Eastside, don't ever bother with Dave's. Come here instead.

More Comfortable Experience Than Chinatown Location, But Expect Twice or Three Times the Wait. Food is out of the equation because we already know this is the BEST Nashville Chicken Sando in LA, no discussion. Same high quality you expect, same prices, BUT atmosphere is a lot better. Being able to sit down in an actual restaurant instead of benches in a shady chinatown mall makes the experience so much more enjoyable, but comfort comes at a price, this is a very lengthy wait, which I half expected. About an hour to 90 minutes in line may not be what you’re looking for. I personally will sacrifice the time if I have it for a better dining experience but I can’t say it’s for everyone. Also, lovely staff, nobody rushed you out when you were eating, they did their rounds and made sure everyone was doing alright. Great customer service.

This place is amazing!!!! Great atmosphere, attentive staff, great bartender, and tastey food! Pizza wise, we ordered the Mushroom Party, the Padre, and the Margherita, even just the crust was good. For apps, we tried the deviled eggs and the bacon wrapped dates. So good. This was our 1st time here, and we'll definitely be back!

A Hidden Gem for Deviled Eggs While The Luggage Room is known for its delicious pizza and other offerings, their deviled eggs are the real show-stopper. Perfectly cooked, creamy, and packed with flavor, these little bites are a must-try. The friendly staff and excellent service add to the overall experience. Delicious GF pizza. Sooo many gf options for other food. Cocktails are half off on HH which is awesome! Will definitely be back! Everything shown is GF with the exception of the English muffin they make there.

The Del Mar Salada at The Luggage Room Pizzeria was fresh and full of flavor. The seafood was incredibly tasty, and the dish had an authentic, well-balanced taste that made every bite enjoyable. If you love fresh seafood, this is definitely a must-try. I highly recommend it!

The ambience of this place is nice and the guy who was our server was great HOWEVER the food was not worth it at all. It was bland. Not tasty. I never say this in reviews but it really did suck. Great presentation but no flavor. I have no clue what the hype of this place is except maybe the architecture but other than that do not waste your money on the food. We ordered the Margherita pizza, mac n cheese kids meal, guac and chips, deviled eggs, tuna appetizer, and the salmon plate. The pizza was not bad but not great. Needed more seasoning. The mac n cheese lacked salt. It was so bland, I had to put salt in it. Even the boxed mac n cheese is better than this. The salmon plate my boyfriend had was extra fishy in his opinion and was not spectacular. The tuna appetizer was okay. The guac and chips were decent. So beware and do not eat here unless you like bland food and a bill of $100+ to go along with it. The server was the best thing from this restaurant though.

First time here, heard nothing but good things. Parking can be tricky, it is connected to a parking structure as there really is no street parking, they just combined with the restaurant next door so the entrance was a little tricky to find initially, but worth it. Not a long wait for a Friday night which was great, family friendly with kids there, someone even had a dog on the patio. Full bar. Tons of history for the building, amazing staff, friendly and helpful. Good size menu, portions were a little small, but tons of flavor and great recommendations from the staff. Would recommend and return.

Great group of restaurants with a fantastic happy hour and weekend mimosas! The pizzas are very original with fresh and delicious combinations. Cocktails are well done, well served and refreshing.
Rafael G — Google review
There is an underground parking lot that the restaurant can validate the parking. I have been coming to Luggage Room, and just realized that the Luggage Room is combining with the restaurant and the bar next door. There were complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookies at the waiting area. They also share the same menu. I was seated at the bar, and ordered a gladiator pizza, and side of fries. The cookies were soft and tasty, but it could be a little more towards the salty side. The pizza is a thin crust, but the dough was a little tough to chew. The fries was flavorful. Server was friendly and services were fast! I came here for pizza, but the pizza was not too impressive, so 3 stars.

Cafe Santorini is a Mediterranean restaurant located in Old Pasadena, offering a charming rooftop balcony and an indoor bar. The menu features classic seafood, pizza, mezes, and grilled kabobs with various protein options. With its string light-covered terrace, the cafe provides a delightful ambiance for enjoying dishes like fried smelts and oven-roasted halloumi cheese. This long-standing establishment has been serving patrons for 25 years and is known for its attentive service across three floors of dining space.
It’s always a wonderful experience at Cafe Santorini. Jessica was our server and she was delightful! A great smile goes a long way to make the food taste great! 4 men, 1 being a boring vegetarian! I split the chicken kabobs and the beef kabobs with one of my friends! Perfect combination! I wish they would expand their menu to include Greek classics but that was yesteryear! A wonderful lunch on the patio! The atmosphere is so pleasant and the noise level is as expected in a great Greek Restaurants!

This restaurant is on my top 3 of all LA. I have brought at least 67 new families to this restaurant. All 250 times I’ve been here I’ve gotten the Calamari, Bruschetta, Large greek salad extra cheese, and the absolutely mouth watering Farfalle con pesto /pollo and add shrimp. Nothing better than this combo in all of LA. I went back recently and then again today only to find out 2/4 of those items changed. Not necessarily for the better either. The salad no longer has lettuce, i under the traditional (Horiatiki) does not have lettuce, but its always had lettuce and now without the lettuce the plate is 50% smaller yet the price is the same. Then the worst part that broke my family’s heart, was changing the farfalle to paccheri… dont get me wrong, the paccheri is good but it comes with like 12 pieces. The farfalle was a lot more filling and was absolutely perfect. I literally had to go to Mi Piace after to eat again because the portions were not filling like before. I understand there is new ownership and the sons are taking charge and I commend them looking for change, but for all thats good in this world, please put that lettuce and farfalle back.. some of the other regulars said the same. I love this place but really hope some miracle happens so the farfalle gets back. Ironically i went in to record another video for my social media food page and out of respect held back. Hope to come back to the amazing food that was always here and hope to be to adjust this review to the 5 stars it deserves and to re-write this whole thing.

I came for a Thursday evening dinner with my wife to be and our families (party of 12) and we had a great time here. We sat outside on the patio which had a very nice look to it along with outdoor lights. The servers Dennis and Martín were super nice and very diligent. I was quite dehydrated so I was chugging water but they promptly refilled my water which I do appreciate especially on a warmer and humid evening. For the food, we got the sample platter for the table which was pretty good. But gosh the lamb shank was marvelous. It was so tender, I just scooped it off the bone with my fork. I also had a spicy sumac margarita (not pictured), it was a delicious cocktail. Overall I had a pleasant experience here. I appreciate the atmosphere, the service, and the food. If I am in the area again I would definitely come again.

Stop by here to have a quick dinner after my appointment in Pasadena. I basically googled the place and checked it on open table then booked it. It was on a second level which I wasn’t expecting, but not a problem at all, and I was received well by the receptionist. She offered if I wanted the Patio, but since I was alone, I opted for the inside table, which was fine because it was more quiet. Steffi, the table server was super nice in spite of being very busy serving the patio area as well. I had the grilled octopus for my starter, and I’m so glad it was one of the best octopus I’ve ever had. For Dr the portion was pretty generous so I ended up just ordering the Mediterranean salad. It was really good. But I needed some kind of bread to eat those lemony tangy flavors of both the octopus and the salad, and so I asked Steffi for some bread I guess just to lessen the acidity. She responded sure you can have some, but we charge for it. And at that point, I didn’t care cause my food was too tangy to be eaten by itself. I figured for three bucks I can pay for bread that used to be a gratis in most restaurants I go to. And I’m not a person that would nickel and dime everything but because it kind of is weird to be paying for bread in a restaurant like this place. I made sure I checked how much they charged the bread that they served me. Much to my surprise I was charged six dollars for the bread. You’ll be the judge if it’s truly worth the six dollars. I took a picture of the bread in here. Ambience was good and quiet because I was inside there was only one other table with a couple eating next to me. I looked outside on the patio. It was almost full, and the ambience was really nice also as well. There is paid public parking across the street which was $10 for me for the whole time I ate. Would I go back there? Probably will if I will not be alone because I felt I wasted so much by dining alone. For example, I wasted 4 slices of the bread because I only ate two slices, and barely finished half of the big bottle of the Pellegrino sparkling water which I wish I was told they only had one large bottle being that I was alone.

Getting to the second floor could be a little tricky. One needs to know which door to use for the elevator. The food however is pretty good. The serving size is sufficient. We also had an excellent server.

Came to Café Santorini for happy hour with my brother and started with the grilled octopus and Santorini garlic fries. Both were delicious and our bartender Eduardo was amazing. We moved to our patio reservation once our friend arrived and ordered a pitcher of red sangria. At $65, it felt overpriced and not worth it. We would skip it next time. We ordered the grilled octopus again so our friend could try it. Also got the pear and walnut salad and the burrata. Both were fresh and full of flavor. For mains, we had the steak and frites with an incredible au poivre sauce, red curry seafood risotto, and beef brochette with hummus and pita. Dessert was a hit. The tiramisu was one of the best I have had. Service from Samuel and the rest of the staff was excellent. I have been coming here for over 10 years and the food is always consistently great. Parking can be tricky but there are paid garages nearby. The balcony patio is perfect for fresh air and a great spot for a first date. Inside can get loud so not ideal for a quiet conversation.

A really nice visit featuring an incredible rooftop patio and wonderful service - thank you Frankie. The SANTORINI MEZZE TASTING was top notch. really great. Here is the problem - I ordered steak frites medium rare and it arrived well done. not medium well. brown inside well. Also over seasoned which is hard to do for me. It was truly unacceptable for a fine restaurant. In good company so it would have been a scene to return but should have been.

Hamburger restaurant
Restaurant
Pie 'n Burger is a classic diner that has been serving up traditional American fare since 1963. Despite its laid-back atmosphere, this joint takes its pies and burgers seriously. The menu features griddle-cooked patties topped with a secret house-made sauce, along with a variety of pie options including meringues, seasonal fruit pies, and classic flavors.
Grade A (93): Burger is great, pie and shake are great, the coke is old time, syrup plus carbonated water and that works. Just a warning, it's cash only, but they do have an ATM machine there.
Diran A — Google review
I finally tried Pie-N-Burger and had mixed feelings. I ordered the cheeseburger combo, added fries, and shared a side of onion rings. The burger itself was phenomenal—juicy, flavorful, and the grilled onions were a great touch. Unfortunately, the fries were bland and could’ve used more salt, and the onion rings were just okay—nothing memorable. We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM with a group of seven (including three young kids) and had to wait nearly 45 minutes for a table. Despite waiting, they weren’t able to seat us together, and we ended up eating at separate tables, which was disappointing. The restaurant has very limited table seating—mostly bar stools—so it’s not the most kid-friendly setup. Other downsides: very limited parking (maybe 15 spaces total) and it’s cash only, which caught a lot of people off guard. They do have an in-house ATM, but it’s still not ideal. We didn’t try the pie, but it looked good. The burger alone makes it worth trying once, but overall, between the long wait, seating issues, and cash-only policy, this place was a one-time visit for our family.
Chandler B — Google review
Fun atmosphere. The burger is fine, nothing particularly special. Fries too. The oldie concept of burgers and pie is nice. But only 3 stars because they are woefully behind in offering gluten free options (no bun and no pie) and they still use the money laundering approach of cash only. For a burger that doesn’t taste any better than In n Out, charging $18 seems ludicrous.
Cory E — Google review
First time here and it will definitely not be the last. Burgers are made fresh daily never frozen. Such amazing pies from seasonal to daily. They still make their sodas classi dinner style. Berlin our server was a blessing in disguise from providing such great service to a down to earth experience.

What a Gem. Local Diner in the heart of Pasadena. Just like the name, Pies and Burgers are the main attractions. Homemade pies and cakes are the bomb. We had the Hamburger combo, burgers with all the fixings and a side of your choice. They have many choices on pies and served with a generous serving of vanilla ice cream or homemade whipped cream. We ahead the strawberry pie with whipped cream. Not overly sweet on both and the crust was crispy and fluffy. Sit at the counter which runs along the entire restaurant or few tables along the walls. Services were excellent and very attentive.
Betty M — Google review
To keep it simple, they do pies and burgers that taste absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend this place for anybody looking for the good old American comfort food classics in the Pasadena area. Pricing is a bit higher than other similar establishments but more than makes up for it with the generous portions. The atmosphere still looks unchanged from when they first opened in the 1970s. Be sure to bring cash if you want to avoid the ATM fee in the diner as they do not take card.
Joey C — Google review
This place looks so old school; it's unique. The waitress was super nice, as was the rest of the staff. The burger I got was OK, but I've had better for $15, honestly. They only take cash, but I like that.

If you are in the area and need a burger, this is the place. Wide selection of fruit and cream pies. Cash Only! This is a small place with tables bolted to the floor. Long counter. Not for big groups. A very local and loyal clientele. A step above in and out, but with pie!

The Arbour is a charming restaurant located in Pasadena, offering a relaxed and stylish atmosphere with a rustic touch. Owned by chef Ian Gresik and his wife Nancy, this farm-to-table eatery prides itself on serving Californian cuisine using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The menu features a mix of classic dishes like sea bass with asparagus and innovative creations such as the spicy beef chili. The restaurant's inviting front room provides a refreshing ambiance during summer and a cozy fireplace for winter evenings.
All around amazing restaurant. My only note is the dinner rolls are a little dry. Good but not as good as a restaurant of this caliber should be rolling with. The experience is otherwise perfect. Nice layout, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Open kitchen. Duck was tender. Tagliatelle with braised short rib was perfect all the way around. Strong blue cheese of you like that. Walnut for a good crunch. Our waiter gave Mr a birthday dessert which is primo. Cheesecake and ice cream with a delicious brown sugar graham crumble and toasted marshmallow topping.

I took my brother and boyfriend here for their birthdays (both have bdays in March), the service was amazing and the food was even better! We got the spinach artichoke pasta appetizer and I could have had that and the Caesar salad (which was also amazing) for dinner. My bf had the wild mushroom risotto and it was perfectly cooked. The bucatini and the tuna were also on point. The portions are large so the price it’s reasonable for quantity AND quality. They even gave each of them their own amazing ice cream cake (pictured, and yes the sign is made from chocolate :-) 10/10 would go there again if we ever make it back to Pasadena or close by.

I celebrated my birthday at The Arbour in Pasadena yesterday, and it was such a memorable experience. From the warm atmosphere to the beautifully presented dishes, everything felt special. We started with the crab pita and prosciutto toast—both were fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For mains, we shared a spread that felt like a feast: the Mediterranean seabass was delicate and perfectly cooked, the seared yellowfin tuna had a wonderful balance of texture and flavor, the black pepper crusted chicken was juicy with just the right amount of kick, and the 12 oz New York steak was tender and satisfying. Each dish stood on its own but also worked beautifully as part of a shared table. To end the night, the pineapple sorbet was refreshing and light—a great way to wrap up a rich meal. The service was attentive without being rushed, and they made the birthday dinner feel extra special. Pasadena has a lot of dining options, but The Arbour really stands out for both quality and atmosphere. I’d happily come back again for another celebration—or even just a nice night out.

Went here to celebrate my mom's anniversary and it was perfect! A cozy seating, an attentive server, and delicious food rounded out the night. We tried the prosciutto and peaches toast appetizer (10/10!) & the Mediterranean Sea Bass (10/10) & the short rib special (9/10). We finished with coffee and the pineapple sorbet and the vanilla panna cotta with rhubarb and strawberry topping. Our server was attentive and polite, giving us space to make sure we enjoyed our privacy, but he was close by to ensure our water was refilled and our table was cleared. I would definitely return here again, I can't wait to see what other seasonal pairings they come up with. This spot is great for a date night, anniversary or girls fancy night out. And there's lots of shopping nearby too!

Quite delightful experience for me. The food was alright (not as mind-blowing as we’d expected), but it was decent. I had a duck as an entree and felt like it was under seasoned and texture was not as tender - I usually like it more charred and crispy on the skin. The dessert was pretty solid in my opinion, drinks were also on point (top quality French wine selections). I really enjoyed the ambiance here, seems pretty upscale and classy though I’d hope the food could be more elevated for this type of location in Pasadena.

The shrimp penne was good, would recommend to pasta lovers. I was disappointed by the steak, the NY steak was too simple and I hardly tasted any flavor. The only thing that carried it is that it was made correctly. The staff was great, very attentive and accommodating.

Food and service was outstanding. Beautiful decor as well. Standouts were the prosciutto toast, so delicate and tasty! Loved the sea bass, ribeye and filet. All cooked to absolute perfection. Leave room for bread pudding too, soft, warm, melts in your mouth. The caramel sauce was out of this world! Will be back.

I loved the food and atmosphere, the customer service was present but overwhelming! I felt rushed, guy was coming to the table every five minutes, waiters needs to learn to read body language!, we were there to bond over drinks and food! Sushi restaurant
SUGARFISH by sushi nozawa is a celebrated local sushi chain that offers traditional rolls and sake in a chic and intimate setting. Co-founded by legendary sushi chef Kazunori Nozawa, the restaurant is dedicated to serving strictly traditional Nozawa-style sushi, emphasizing simplicity and purity in the dining experience. The establishment prides itself on offering high-quality expertly prepared sushi to fully savor its flavor and texture.
We came to Sugarfish Pasadena to celebrate my daughter's birthday since she had been wanting to visit after trying the LA location. When we arrived, they told us the wait would be 30 minutes, but we were pleasantly surprised to be seated in just 15 minutes. From the moment we sat down, the service was amazing. Our waitress Kat, server Paul, and the entire team were attentive from start to finish. They promptly brought out waters and took our orders with care. We all decided to go for the omakase and ordered: 1. TRUST ME ($30) 2. THE NOZAWA TRUST ME ($39) 3. DON'T THINK. JUST EAT. ($59) Everything was absolutely delicious! The Tuna Sashimi with ponzu and chives was a highlight, as were the Albacore Sushi with ponzu and chives, Salmon Sushi with toasted sesame, and the rich Toro Hand Roll. Other standout pieces included the Lobster Sushi, the melt-in-your-mouth Toro and flavorful Eel, Japanese Yellowtail Sushi with lemon, Chutoro Sushi, New Zealand Sea Bream Sushi with citrus salt, Hirame Sushi with yuzu ponzu, and the Blue and Dungeness Crab Hand Rolls. Each bite was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The restaurant was cute, very clean, and the restroom was well-kept, which added to the overall great experience. The service truly elevated our time there, and the attention to detail made our celebration even more special. If you're looking for top-notch sushi and impeccable service, I definitely recommend Sugarfish Pasadena. Sugarfish is always a solid choice. They don't take reservations so there is always a bit of a wait but the Pasadena location is great because there is a nice courtyard you can wait in! We did take out today and their take out box is so cute too! Fresh sushi and they have a little sauce guide on the box. There is a paid parking garage right behind the restaurant but you can find free street parking on green street or cordova if you're willing to walk a little
Sam L — Google review
SUGARFISH isn’t just sushi—it’s a minimalist love letter to fish, rice, and precision. No frills, no dragon rolls drowned in sauce—just clean, honest, ridiculously fresh cuts that make you rethink everything you thought you knew about sushi. I went with the Trust Me box (pro move), and from the very first bite of tuna sashimi, it was game over. The warm rice melts in your mouth. The albacore? Silky. The toro? Criminal. Every piece lands with that quiet confidence only chefs who really know their craft can pull off. Service is efficient and respectful—they don’t oversell or interrupt, they just let the fish do the talking. And it speaks volumes. ⚠️ Warning: After SUGARFISH, grocery store sushi will feel like a betrayal. Minimalist decor, quick pacing, and consistent execution. Perfect for date nights, solo indulgence, or anyone who believes sushi is a lifestyle, not a trend.
Grig T — Google review
Sugarfish Pasadena is simple, sleek, and all about letting the sushi shine. The Trust Me menu is the way to go — a curated selection of fresh, high-quality nigiri and rolls that consistently hits the mark. The vibe is casual but polished, service is efficient, and while it’s a bit pricey, it’s worth it for a reliable, no-fuss sushi experience.
Ryan M — Google review
For the price I'm paying, I was thoroughly disappointed. This place is consistently getting raved as a go to premium sushi spot but I honestly can't see why people, who have had good sushi would consider coming here to eat after trying once. First, due to it being hyped up for being a good spot, the wait time, if you missed the opening for the day, is long, as it is a small restaurant with an omakase dining style. You cannot make any reservations ahead of time, so if you really wanted to try this place out, either wait roughly an hour or two, or order to go. I believe this place would rather consider itself as a rendition of sushi, as it breaks a few conventional norms. The sushi rice is overly warm, to the point it was separating from itself. If I picked up a nigiri, I don't expect the piece to disintegrate when grabbing it. The service was mid at best, given their positioning in the market. I would never expect for an omakase style set course, to have servers come up and ask, can you finish the last piece up, so that they can just take the now empty dish up. This gave a feeling of, I'm being rushed to eat and go. Also, as shown in the pictures, I somewhat expected some form of plating, or at least nicer looking plates, given the price tag. Everything was just a generic white square/rectangle plate, it really degraded the experience. Overall, after finally trying this place once, I can now say I am pretty reluctant to come again on my own accord. For the price you're paying here, you can get better quality of handwork and sushi with little price variance.

This is real sushi. High quality fish that is buttery, fresh, & melts in your mouth. My friend treated me here for my birthday lunch, & she said the sushi at sugarfish is like a "party in your mouth". The experience lived up to her high praise. We ordered the "Trust me", which is like a set menu of dishes. And it was reasonably priced $35. The sauces served with some of the sashimi were perfect. The seaweed of the hand rolls had the right amount of crisp & salt to it. I left satisfied & full. Delicious. The restaurant is a bit small. We didn't have reservations. So, we opted to eat at the bar rather than wait 30 minutes for a table. Since it was my first visit, the server at the bar explained the menu, & how he recommends eating the dishes. Highly recommend if you love sushi.

Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery, located in Pasadena, is a charming dining destination housed in the former horse stable of the Pasadena Fire Department. The restaurant offers a lush outdoor patio with ceiling fans to combat the local heat and a grab-and-go market. Vanessa and Thomas Tilaka Kalb have designed an interior that exudes bucolic charm, complete with unique floral plates for their elevated American comfort food offerings such as Hot Dish and Pimento Cheese Omelet.
Went for brunch and it was an excellent overall experience. Started with a cheese board that was delicious. For the mains we split the tater tot casserole and the sticky toffee pancakes. It was a perfect sweet and savory combination. The casserole was an amazing combo of flavors and textures and the sticky toffee pancakes were incredible, but not ridiculously sweet. Definitely going back to try other items on the menu.

I’ve had their “Tommy Salame” before. It was adequately sized and normally priced for the quality you’re getting. This time I got the “Chicken Parm Sando.” I would say it was truly overpriced for the quantity you are getting. $21 for a small 6 inch sub makes no sense even if all the ingredients maybe organic or better quality. I would have priced that at $16 maximum because I know their overhead costs may be on the higher end. I just was expecting a bigger and more filling sandwich for that hefty price tag. Overall, it tasted great and homemade which I appreciate. However, it was a bit too acidic per my preference leaving me with some heartburn. I also got the $4 “Rye Brownie.” It had a more dark chocolate flavor and the texture was more wet like fudge rather than pillowy softness. I also experienced some heartburn from that. I wanted to purchase a tiny box of a single serving chocolate covered honeycomb but it was priced at $20. I mean online the “Honeymoon” brand sells it $12.50 each. I just found everything on their shelves from chocolates to jams priced double or triple what you would pay for elsewhere all to appease their rent and salaries. I really like their dedication to quality and freshness. And it’s truly an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. They just need to work on adequately pricing their food and products according to the market.

Food: I’ll mention my three favorites here to keep it shortened. I enjoyed the spinach and leek dip very much, the chips were delicious - crunchy, light, and airy with great flavor from whatever oil they fried it in. The dip I loved, the cheese flavor was strong and it was easy enough to get onto a chip. I liked the potato dumplings (gnocchi not dumplings) the sauce was very creamy, and Parmesan, and the bits of broccoli added a nice soft texture. I loved the crunchy pieces of bacon on top. The lettuces salad was also great, crisp, fresh greens meet with sweet dates, sweet dressing, and sliced almonds to make a delicious salad. Service: We had a reservation for 7:30, but we were seated at 7:45 instead, and the hostess was on the phone talking to another customer for about 10 minutes. Why have reservations if they can’t be on time? Our server was nice though and the food came out fast. Atmosphere: I liked how it was part store, part restaurant. The cheese displayed in the front made for a welcoming entrance. The left half had tables which made it look like a restaurant, while the other had wine for display and other items, making it like a store. Overall: Really delicious food and cute vibe, the service just fell a little short for me.

We had a wonderful brunch experience at Agnes! The cheese board was definitely the highlight, offering a great selection of cheeses with enough variety to keep things interesting and never repetitive. It felt like the perfect way to start the meal. Since it was brunch, we also ordered toast and salad. The crème brûlée toast stood out it was sweet, indulgent, and quite filling, almost like having dessert for breakfast. On the lighter side, the Babé Farms Lettuces salad was beautifully done, with fresh mixed greens paired with Aries cheese, smoked almonds, and dates, all tied together with a mustard shallot vinaigrette. The combination of crunchy nuts and sweet dates made it both refreshing and satisfying. The atmosphere of the restaurant is another big plus. With exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and a spacious patio, it feels open and stylish, yet still comfortable and welcoming. The way the dining room, bar, and market space flow together makes it feel unique and versatile. I also appreciated how extensive the menu is there are options for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, which makes it a place you could easily visit again and again for different occasions. On top of that, the drink selection is varied enough to complement any meal. Overall, Agnes is a spot that delivers not only on flavor but also on ambiance and versatility.

I’ve never met Agnes… but she’s got style. This place is such an interesting blend of modern ambiance and interior design. Natural light, brick walls, a crackling fire. And amazing cheese and wine of course. My friend and I were the only two in there and I bet it’s quite the spot in the evening. I’ll be coming back.

Wonderfully indulgent food. Atmosphere isnt as cozy as we had hoped (back patio was closed) but the staff was so kind and thoughtful on our anniversary (giving us a free champagne toast) and the food was so yummy. We weren't drinking beyond the champagne but the meal was 10/10 for cheese lovers.
Alison P — Google review
Three of us took a friend for her 30th birthday based on a recommendation. However, it didn't live up to the hype. We went on Saturday night, 7:30 p.m. reservation. We got seated about 10 minutes after our reservation time which was expected. A server offered to take our drink order within a few minutes. Then another one went up to our table for the same purpose only a few minutes after the original order. With one vegetarian in the group, we attempted to order a mix of entrees that offered something for everyone. The Cheese Board was too small for four hungry women who had just gotten massages. The Crispy Tater Tots tasted just like any other, minus the crispy. The Beets and Pears was meh. The Grilled Cauliflower wasn't available but they made it with broccolini and that was okay. Unfortunately, there weren't any distinguishing seasonings or flavors that stood out. The carnivores ordered the fried chicken and skirt steak. They said it was good. We each one cocktail which didn't wow anyone. While we asked the server for her assessment on whether she thought we had ordered enough and she said it was a lot of food. It wasn't given the family-style service and small portions. There was a long delay between each order, including our drinks. We found ourselves done in between orders as we looked toward the kitchen area hoping to see a server with one of our orders. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we asked to see the dessert menu which was very unimpressive (root beer float, some kind of bread pudding, sorbet and some chocolate taco). We assumed that they would bring some kind of dessert for the birthday girl but no such luck. She did, however, get a birthday card as soon as she sat down. I would recommend this if one wants a light meal with loud ambiance in a restaurant-deli ambiance. I will not be returning for a light meal nor a dinner as the food and service were nothing spectacular, especially for a tab of $326.72.

From the beautiful patio space and thoughtful color schemes, to the friendly wait staff, I thoroughly enjoyed my evening out at Agnes. The s'mores taco was chef's kiss! What a lovely place for a quaint dinner with a friend in Old Pasadena. Thanks!!

This establishment is perfect for a special occasion, business dinner, or nice night out. I highly recommend Arroyo Chop House!

Everything what you expect from a steakhouse was provided to the best customer satisfaction. From, the atmosphere you can tell it’s a place to have enjoyment, but can also be quiet or be loud as you want. The service was absolute amazing, hands-down! From the very beginning to the very end, our wages paid attention to detail on everything we ordered provided drinks with our meals and even asked us for recommendations. Onto to the food everything was so delicious except for the tomahawk unfortunately, this was more on the medium than medium rare, which was totally unexpected given, the prestige Arroyo Chophouse is.

The filet mignon was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. We shared several sides and not one missed the mark. The truffle mac and cheese was rich without being heavy. The garlic mashed potatoes were velvety smooth. The Brussels sprouts had just the right char with crispy bacon for balance. Even the asparagus had a nice snap and vibrant flavor. The garlic sourdough bread came out warm and fresh, and I started with an espresso martini that was spot on. Our server, Christopher, was exceptional. He recommended a beautiful glass of Cabernet that paired perfectly with the steak. He was attentive without being overbearing and really elevated the experience. For dessert, we had the chocolate soufflé and they surprised me with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and raspberry drizzle to celebrate. A thoughtful touch! The service, ambiance, and food were all on point. Whether you’re celebrating or just craving a great steakhouse experience, this is one of those places worth coming back to. Easily five stars.

The atmosphere and the lobster mashed potatoes are really good. Mash the lobster mashed potatoes have really good flavor. The atmosphere was very elegant. I ended up getting the petite filet mignon and it could have used a little bit more flavor but overall it was good. The service was great. The prices were typical for an upscale restaurant. The drinks were nice and strong.

Always a great dining experience. The steak is undoubtedly top-notch, but believe it or not the sourdough bread is worth the trip alone. Shout-out to Steph at the bar. I have known Steph for many years, across various restaurants, and she has always been a kind, funny, authentic, charming, welcoming, gregarious, fantastic, lovely, honest, charming (I think I already said that), warm, professional, knowledgeable, attentive, fascinating, hilarious, and great staff member (and person!). The Raymond Restaurant in Pasadena, CA offers a romantic dining experience in a charming cottage with a garden patio. The restaurant's ambiance is subtly romantic and soothing, housed in a lovingly restored California bungalow. The menu features refined steaks and seafood, including Long Island roast duckling, softshell crabs, rack of lamb chops, and medallions of beef. For brunch, the restaurant offers a diverse selection of dishes such as the Classic Raymond Curry and the Raymond Cheeseburger.
We had brunch at The Raymond on a Sunday before going to the Pasadena Showcase House event. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was classy and nostalgic, and the food was tasty. I highly recommend the cocktails, I had the Old Fashioned. If you’re with a group, definitely get the pastry board which is a sampling of all of the pastries that they offer. The Short Rib tacos were very tasty. Everyone on my party enjoyed their meal and the atmosphere, go check it out!

Nice hidden gem. Pretty comfortable even you sit outside the patio in summer time. Since there is many plants among the outdoor table area. Service is Good. Food although not surprisingly but not bad at all.

Food: The calamari was good, it was little bit too spicy for me, and the rice paper was a little oily but still yummy. The bread and butters were great, they swap out the flavors every day, and we had smoked cheddar and cranberry orange, I really enjoyed the cranberry orange one, it was bright and sweet and buttery. The kale salad was also good , the perfect dressing and the perfect toppings. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and it was very flavorful. The chimichurri was delicious and very fresh tasting. The Mac n cheese was good, but needed a better cheesy flavor, it was a little creamy and not cheesy. We had three desserts, the lemon dessert, the chocolate pot de crème, and the chocolate bread pudding. The pot de crème base was great, rich and creamy, but the olive oil sea salt in the whipped cream didn’t hit the mark. It threw off the flavor for me. The bread pudding was great, I think that because the chef used fresh bread not stale bread it elevated it to a new level. I’m not a big bread pudding fan but this was good. The lemon dessert was the best of them all, the perfect tartness, and it was silky smooth and just melted away in your mouth. The blueberry sauce was just divine and a beautiful color. Service: Our server, Ginger, was great, she was kind and helped us with some items on the menu. The food came out so fast, she hadn’t even left our table yet and the salad was at our table. Atmosphere: I thought it was cute and cozy. We sat outside and the light that came in was beautiful. It was perfect for when the sun was setting because it wasn’t too warm, and if it got cold they had heaters. Overall: Great food, great atmosphere! I recommend!

We had a really wonderful night here. Our reservation was for 10 PM, but we showed up a bit early—around 9:15—without realizing the kitchen had already closed. Still, the staff was incredibly kind and went out of their way to seat and serve us anyway, which honestly made our night. The food was amazing. We had the crudo, salmon, tagliatelle, and semifreddo for dessert—every dish was delicious and clearly made with care. The flavors were spot on and everything was beautifully presented. On top of that, the service was just exceptional. Friendly, attentive, and never rushed, even though we were there so late. The space itself is also beautiful—really warm and cozy with a touch of elegance. We left super happy and will definitely be coming back soon. Big thanks to the team at The Raymond for making it such a great night!

The service at this restaurant is really good and the drinks are great But the food is really average to me If they could make the food tastier, this could be a five star joint to me Because I really do love the outdoor seating and I love the attention to detail in terms of service But besides the fried calamari, none of the other dishes really wowed me The ribeye is definitely not worth the money We ordered medium well and it definitely came out well done . It tasted not as good as my own cooking, which is weird cause I’m not a really good cook. The short rib was also a bit on the dry side. The Chilean Seabass is just kind of average too

I recently visited Raymond Restaurant and had a mixed experience. The food was tasty, especially the flavors in the Rueben sandwich — however, it was too greasy, and the meats inside had too much fat, which made it a bit heavy and hard to enjoy fully. The service was decent, with staff doing their best to be friendly and helpful, but things were noticeably slow, likely due to what seemed like a shortage of staff. Overall, there’s potential here, but a few adjustments in the kitchen and on the service floor would make a big difference.

Super neat atmosphere with the remodel of an older house. Service was excellent. Cocktails creative. Everything we got for food was amazing, in particular the chimichurri in the steaks and the tater tots with very tasty sauces that elevated them to the next level, perfectly crispy. My steak was slightly underfired and they fixed it properly and promptly. Love the patio, it was very nice atmosphere to converse.

Nick's Restaurant is a modern American restaurant with an elegant, contemporary design. The menu features delicious comfort food and unique cocktails, making it the perfect place to enjoy a nice meal with friends. This establishment is sure to impress anyone who visits!
We were taken to Nick's Southlake Avenue restaurant by some friends that we were visiting. They said that they frequent this establishment extremely often, and their food is good. We were seated in the front area, which was extremely light and airy. We were able to have a good conversation with limited amounts of noise. The menu is extremely diversified with prices in the moderate to high price category. Our servers were attentive and good. They periodically came by to check to see if we were enjoying our meal. The food came out in a very timely manner, and we were very happy with the presentation and the quality of the food. This is an establishment I would consider visiting again.

The service was excellent, but I did wish they provided restaurant-quality paper napkins, and not ones from the restroom. The atmosphere was nice. But, the food was okay. To our disappointment, the pork rib was chewy, and did not fall off the bones as expected. However, their margherita pizza and salmon were good. Our overall experience was not bad.

Please get a reservation if you are able. The wait was 1 hour - 1.5 hours unless we sat at the bar—we sat at the bar with no wait. We sat at the bar since the wait was long. The staff was kind and accommodating. I have a peanut allergy and they made note of it for the chefs and serving staff. I had the ribeye melt and the nonalcoholic mule. Exceptional!

I passed by this years for many years . It has absolutely no appeals but finally came here for the first time and I was blown away how nice it is inside. As matter of fact, I thought it was just a little restaurant but it was huge inside. It is actually 2 floors! And the food? O g! Best Cioppino ever!! It is huge! The seafood is cooked to perfection.. Chilean sea bass melts in my mouth!! Butter cake was good but is not amazing like Mastros!! Devil eggs was excellent!!

I am so impressed with this restaurant! Walking in the ambiance is lavish but welcoming. We were seated near the kitchen so I was able to see all the beautiful dishes come out. My table ordered the fried asparagus and ahi fried rice for apps. Loved them both. For entrees we enjoyed the veggie burger, the prime rib dip and the katsu salad. Everything was amazing! The katsu salad had a very large portion of chicken and the sauces were delectable! We had no room for dessert but the 8 layer cake would have been my choice. I can hardly wait to go back to try more menu items.

My first time here for a company dinner. The shrimp taquitos were crunchy and flavorful. The Chilean sea bass was fresh and juicy, but it was a bit salty to my liking.

Incredible experience Friday at Nicks! Where do I begin. We walked in w/o a reservation and both hostesses were lovely and seated us quickly. The restaurant was gorgeous, clean, and bright. The kitchen is exposed behind glass so it was a joy to watch just how hard the chefs work. Our waitress, her name escapes me sadly, because she was incredible, was super attentive, and very kind. Everything from the chilled Jules Taylor Sauv Blanc, the incredible Caesar salad, Fried Chicken dish, Chilean Sea Bass, and the tables Sourdough boule was to die for. Lastly, I can’t forget to mention their Lemon Cake!! I am still dreaming of that HUGE slice of light and citrusy lemon cake. Enough to feed 4 and absolutely mouthwatering after a heavy meal of fried chicken. Well done Nick’s! I only wish we had one here In Az! 10 Stars!!!!

Restaurant
Lunasia Dim Sum House is a spacious restaurant located in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, offering traditional Chinese dishes and chef specialties. This eatery serves up an array of delectable dim sum, a Cantonese tradition featuring small savory and sweet bites served with tea. Diners can enjoy hand-prepared favorites like pork siu mai and shrimp hargow, as well as larger servings such as Hong Kong roast duck. The menu also includes fried treats and desserts to cater to all tastes.
This is my absolute favrite dims place in SoCal. the food here is amazing and high quality and its super clean and incredible flavors. the service is great and I hope they open a location in OC its a long drive but totally worth it.

Pretty decent!! Fast servicing, food authentic, wait wasn’t too long. Only disappointment was that most dimsums weren’t served in the baskets. Main dishes portion is huge.
Helen C — Google review
Please avoid this place at all cost—it’s absolutely horrible. Honestly, I should’ve just left when I saw the paper cups. This was the worst dim sum I’ve ever had. It either has a questionable or zero taste, with a weird, slimy texture. Everything falls apart, sticks to the paper, and just feels wrong. I tried one of each and left it all there. I’m not even going to mention the service, atmosphere and the waiter dropping cups and showering us with the drinks.
Oxana Z — Google review
Decent dim sum spot with generous portions. I did not expect it to be that coming. It was somewhat annoying that you had to use electronic ordering. The tea and food was good. The dumplings were well prepared.I did not like that they used paper cups. Thankfully everything else was glass or porcelain.
Jasmin H — Google review
We had lunch today at this restaurant. We ordered a fried chicken which came late that we needed to follow-up, it was dry and salty the chips which was included was not crunchy. I am not sure If we were served a re-heated chicken because it was so dry and tough. We also ordered a scallop dimsum, fried rice, macau custard which tasted average. The only thing that we like was the shrimp dumplings. We will go back to Pasadena next friday but we will definitely not go back to this restaurant again.
Chris L — Google review
Every dim sum and every dish is delicious! Price is reasonable. We would love to come back again. Highly recommended.
Lin G — Google review
Food was good, but ordering was a nightmare and so was settling the check at the end with a larger group. They have you order individually on your phone via QR codes without giving you confirmation of what was ordered, and then don't let you split the check (which seemed like it defeated the whole point of ordering individually), leaving us with an uncomfortable situation of trying to even everything out through the whole dinner and thereafter. We never received our soup dumplings after ordering over 2 hours before they closed, only for them to cancel them "for us" when they were closing the kitchen at the end of the night. We were given multiple dishes without being told what they were, only to find out nobody at our table ordered them. Overall, extremely confusing process, very little service to check in and/or clarify what we were receiving, and a terrible bill pay process at the end. We can get the same quality of dim sum at other places without feeling as though we were an inconvenience or burden to the serving staff. We won't be returning and we regret tipping well.
Angela R — Google review
This is my first time at a dim sum restaurant, and I was impressed. The speed at which they bring you your food is unbelievable; you'd think they had it waiting on a shelf before you walked in! Even though some of the food was a little too edgy for my simple Caucasian tastes (jellyfish, chicken feet), I would absolutely return. The variety and prices made it a great place to go with friends and do a "family style" sharing of small plates.

Alexander's Steakhouse in Pasadena, California is a high-end steakhouse that combines classic American steakhouse fare with Japanese flavors. The restaurant offers a luxurious dining experience with a focus on serving top-quality meats, including Certified Angus Beef and 28-day dry-aged steaks, as well as imported wagyu beef. The menu features a variety of dishes that blend Asian influences with traditional steakhouse offerings, such as tobiko-studded fried rice and Chinese chicken salad-inspired wedge topped with rock shrimp.
I don't usually write reviews, but Alexander's Steakhouse inspired me! French accent server was so kind and not pushy at all. Everything we ordered he supported us without pressure to order more. We were there for my husband's bday and they made it special with a bday card, cheesecake dessert, and champagne! Our bone in ribeye was perfect! Everything was delicious. Service was perfect! It was our first time there and so glad we tried it! How can you go wrong with cotton candy! Yes please! We will be thinking of more occasions to come again!

Among the many steakhouses in Los Angeles, Alexander’s Steakhouse has always stood out with its distinct identity—and it’s my personal favorite. From the ambiance to the service to the dishes themselves, everything is impeccable. It’s exactly how I imagine an old-school romantic date night would feel. Nestled right next to Pasadena City Hall, the atmosphere is elegant and refined, with a dining experience that feels like a ceremony. I truly felt like I had stepped into a classic film as the leading lady. While it’s a traditional upscale American steakhouse, the menu pleasantly surprises with refined Japanese influences. Here are a few unforgettable dishes from that evening: Uni Toast This was so good I’m seriously considering coming back just to take two orders to-go for lunch. Easily one of the top uni toasts I’ve ever had. Uni + wagyu is a winning combo, but the real star was the toast—layered, rich, and full of umami. Beef Tartare A literal work of art. Stunning presentation, and the taste? A solid 10/10. Kobe Wagyu The highlight of the night. No words needed for the satisfaction that comes from perfectly marbled Kobe beef. The six types of finishing salts were such a thoughtful touch. Maine Lobster Tender Boston lobster paired with a yuzu butter sauce—perfectly balanced and refreshing. Beyond the food, the cocktails we ordered—Make You Look and Blood & Flowers—were absolutely gorgeous (almost too pretty to drink). Even the complimentary bread was served with three kinds of butter, and we were surprised with handmade marshmallows at the end. Every single detail met the high standards of fine dining. Whether it’s a first date, anniversary, or birthday dinner, this place never disappoints.

Came here for our 5 year anniversary a day after valentines day. They still celebrated the valentines holiday which was nice. I booked reservations a month advance and only early dinners reservations were available before 6pm or after 8pm. Just goes to show you how good and popular this place is. Ive always heard good things from the one in the bayarea so wanted to take the wife here Everything from the hostess, the service, the waiter, food runners and such were magnificent. Fabian our waiter, sorry if i mispelled his name, was fantastic. Alexanders were giving out roses to each customer + they gave us a congratulations card for our anniversary Now on to the food, We ordered cavier, never had it, but wifey wanted to try. It was very delicious with options to add what you want on the blinis Chef have us 2 samplings of a cucumber pickle with gochuhang and black garlic emulsion. Was good but not my cup of tea The 3 types of bread and the 3 butters were delicious I forgot the names of it all but it was sort of a bone marrow honey, sea salt european butter and a semi cheese one. The honey butter was delicious and so was all 3 breads Wife got filet mignon and ingot the australian wagyu filet mignon. Both had chive butter ontop and i ordered a side of peppercorn sauce. Wife rarely likes peppercorn but she loved this one. I agree. The steaks were very tasty and cooked to perfection. I got mines medium rare n wife got medium. We had a side of the mash potatoes Which was pretty standard but still delicious We ordered soufle apple and creme brulee Both were sweet but not overly sugary They gave us complimentary strawberry cotton candy, cheesecake with blueberry compote and bon bons fark chocolate with side of fruit tarts Wifey loved the dining experience and the flavor of the food. Nothing felt similar in terms of flavor profile and the staff definetly made the wife feel special. Would come back even if its not a special ocassion

The food was out of this world too, stunning and delicious. The A5 miyazaki wagyu steak was the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. I got the omakase, and it was super worth it. This one dining experience makes up for a year’s worth of eating out. If you have the privilege of dining here you will not be disappointed, and will remember it for the rest of your life.

What a phenomenal experience! Across the board everything was excellent. The best service you will ever come across. Extremely professional, kind, and knowledgeable. The food was out of this world. We were first brought complimentary fresh bread and butter, an amuse-bouche, and champagne. We ordered the Mac and cheese along with the ribeye. While we did order the Australian Wagyu ribeye, we were brought the normal ribeye. We didn’t know until we received the bill. The normal ribeye was so amazing I have nothing to complain about! Incredibly juicy with every bite, perfectly cooked to medium rare, and had a great crust and flavor. We finished with the crème brûlée which was a bit too coffee flavored for us. They also bring everyone chocolate and strawberry gummy drops and cotton candy which was a strange but welcomed twist! All around, this restaurant has THE BEST steak I’ve ever had. We will be back!

Cocktail bar
Tapas restaurant
Magnolia House is a stylish establishment in Pasadena, CA that offers an eclectic menu of small plates and a focus on mixology at its bar. Families often visit after events at the nearby Rose Bowl, drawn by the Mediterranean cuisine featuring grilled meats, seafood dishes, pastas, and family-style appetizer platters. The happy hour specials are particularly popular with $5 draft beers, glasses of wine, well drinks, and house sangria.
This place is a must-visit in Pasadena. The service is always awesome, and on our most recent visit, our server made the experience even better. They were so friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the menu, offering great recommendations and making us feel really taken care of without ever feeling rushed. The food is fantastic, with a creative menu that has something for everyone. Everything we tried was fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The cocktails and wine list are impressive, and even their coffee drinks are top-notch. Whether you are going for brunch, lunch, or dinner, this spot never disappoints. I have been here a few times now, and every visit has been consistently great. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a place that delivers across the board.

I’ve always wondered why this restaurant is so busy every night — and now I finally know! The Pear Blossom cocktail was bubbly and slightly citrusy with just a touch of sweetness. The light fragrance of pear made it both elegant and refreshing. The Albacore Tuna Crudo was outstanding — crispy fried onions on top and melting, juicy albacore underneath. The balance of sweetness, mint, and cilantro made each bite so flavorful and refreshing. Pairing it with the Pear Blossom was absolutely perfect. The Brussels Sprouts were also a pleasant surprise — the mix of feta, cilantro, and the unique sauce gave it a North American–Middle Eastern flair that worked beautifully. Sorry I dug into the brussel sprouts before I could take a photo! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well thought out. Definitely worth checking out!

Their house burger was nice and juicy. Fries were also delicious. Their house sauce that come with the fries can stay or leave. Overall the experience satisfied our hunger. Staff was super helpful and attentive. Will definitely be back

When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly host. So, I initially thought that the dining experience would be pleasant. But contrary to my expectation, the service wasn’t all that great. Getting a simple sauce took some time. The lady who brought out our food just ignored our request. So, I asked our server who asked the host to bring it out. This was frustrating! In addition, the burgers that we ordered were not cooked as we had requested but were prepared well-done. So, the patties were a bit dry. Also, I couldn’t believe the burgers didn’t come with anything else—no pickles or greens. So disappointing! The only thing we really enjoyed were our cocktails.

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant many years ago, returning several times during its early days. I once knew the original owner, and from the very beginning, it stood out—not only for its exceptional food but also for its consistently warm and attentive service. Over the years, the space has beautifully evolved, with thoughtfully designed expansions that elevate the overall experience. This past weekend, I revisited the restaurant after quite some time, meeting up with friends for a long-overdue gathering. The service was impeccable, the food just as delightful as I remembered, and the entire evening was made all the more enjoyable by the ambiance and company.

Cute spot for after work drinks or weekend spot. The drinks are always great. The menu is small but mighty. Happy hour is a must if you can make it.

The burger needs a pickle or more acidity. Its such a heavy dish. And the albacore crudo tasted mushy. Not the best dishes but Im willing to order something else next time. Vibe and service is amazing though.

Mexican restaurant
Maestro Restaurant is a sophisticated modern Mexican eatery and Mezcaleria located in a charming Victorian building in Old Town. The restaurant offers a rustic yet refined setting with banquettes, where patrons can enjoy modern Mexican cuisine and mezcal cocktails. The interior features clean lines and exposed brick walls, creating an understated backdrop for the vibrant and complex flavors of the food.
Maestros restaurant delivered an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. We kicked off our meal with the hand-made guacamole served with crispy fried banana chips, a fun and flavorful twist on a classic appetizer. The queso fundido was rich and perfectly melted, paired beautifully with the soft, freshly made tortillas that added an authentic touch. For our main course, we enjoyed the arrachera, birria, and green chicken enchiladas — each dish bursting with flavor and clearly crafted with care. The arrachera was tender and smoky, while the birria had a deep, comforting richness. The enchiladas were bright and zesty, striking a great balance with the other plates. Every bite reflected quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. To finish, we shared the Tres leches carrot cake, which was nothing short of spectacular — moist, spiced just right, and soaked perfectly in that signature creamy blend. The entertainment throughout the evening added a vibrant energy, and the staff was impressively attentive, making us feel truly welcomed. Maestros is a place where great food, service, and ambiance come together seamlessly.

Solid 3.5. Good service but not great. We tried DineLA menu for the first time. Food was interesting but lacking depth. Maybe I’m too used to street taco 🌮.. I think Mexican food tends to be saltier. Calamari was my favorite because I thought the sauce was a very Chinese chili 🌶️ sauce 😂

Went for brunch and it was absolutely delicious. Service was great. Cocktails were perfect! I really enjoyed the French toast. The chilaquilas were just as good. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the cocktail menu.

This restaurant is a true hidden gem. The ambiance is stunning...outdoor dining surrounded by warm lighting and a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. I usually visit on Thursdays when the mariachi band performs, and the live entertainment is top-notch, adding an authentic and joyful touch to the experience. You can see the pride of ownership in every detail, from the quality of the food and drinks to the service and entertainment. Everything feels genuine and thoughtfully done. For busy professionals, this place is a perfect reminder to slow down and enjoy life’s finer moments. It’s more than just a meal, it’s an experience worth making time for.

We really enjoyed the food here. The esquites were probably the best I've ever had, and the bone marrow is a fun touch. Drinks are creative and very good. The service was very friendly and attentive. The place is very cute, but the acoustics are just awful, and the noise level was deafening. It honestly made it difficult to converse and enjoy the meal. My wife ordered a diet coke, and requested a refill. We were charged $8 for a fountain diet coke ( 2x $4 ), which is ridiculous. Server never mentioned they charged for refills, but it's just tacky to charge so much. Ultimately, the food would get me to return, but take-out might be the way to go.
Jon N — Google review
Great atmosphere and friendly waitresses.Mariachi night is a must. The food disappointed though. It lacked flavor. Presentation was nice but the green enchiladas needed more seasoning. Calamari was decent. The side of chicken and beans for my daughter's cheese quesadilla were flavorless; it lacked salt and flavor. The arranchera meat also asked flavor....it seems as though all items needed salt unfortunately. Definitely not worth the price. The Mariachi sings great though. I can see this place more as a hang out spot to drink and listen to Mariachi, NOT to dine in.

Just an excellent experience all around. The atmosphere was a tad loud but I’m really reaching to find a flaw. Food and service were both impeccable and cocktails were awesome too. Special shout out to best carrot cake ever.

Came on a Friday night in a group of 4 and we were seated outdoor! We started with two appetizers and a few drinks, and I've gotta say, the appetizer portions were bigger than we thought. So we ended up only ordering two main courses and a dessert to share! What we ordered: 1. shrimp and octopus ceviche: refreshing but probably needed more acidity, it lacked flavor 2. Grilled octopus 3. Arracherra (medium rare): I enjoyed the plate. 4. Mole confit 5. Tres Leches carrot cake -So Bomb!!! The biggest complaint would be their online reservation system, make sure to ask for indoor seating when you do the reso (the new online system will automatically put the reservations to outdoor seating) And even though they had heaters on, it was still very cold! However, the service was on point. A big shout out to our female server, who was attentive and sweet. She knew that we were there for a bday celebration, so she included 4 complimentary glasses of champagne for the group to enjoy with the dessert Overall, we enjoyed our visit!

Carmela Ice Cream is a charming ice cream parlor in Pasadena that takes its craft seriously. The shop offers a variety of unique and artisanal flavors made with organic dairy and seasonal ingredients, setting it apart from typical ice cream spots. Visitors are drawn in by the enticing aroma of freshly made waffle cones and stay for the complex flavors like brown sugar vanilla bean, strawberry buttermilk, and lavender honey.
I met this amazing hand crafted ice cream company at a local event in Los Angeles and fell in love with their ice cream. I finally had the spare time to visit their location. Staff was more than professional. I definitely recommend this location! Can't wait to come back for more!!

It's my benchmark for young Ice cream shop. Great quality ingredients you can taste..i can feel the passion of ice making artisan, She highlights the ingredients taste profile. My summer go to is Buttermilk strawberry and Mint with cocoa nib. Very consistent product season after season. New addition of sorbet is great with additional of a hint of rose. The great thing of this shop, small artisan ice cream that source ingredients are the key foundation. It's very refreshing that someone actually care about how ice cream should taste like..Kudos!

Carmela Ice Cream is a great little place for a fancy treat! My wife loves this place and comes here often with her friends. Now I understand why. I had the Orange Vanilla Bean Sorbet and my wife chose the Spiced Apple Sorbet. Food joy activated! The flavor satisfaction experience makes this treat well worth the price point. Fun Facts: -Carmela Ice Cream was founded in 2007 by folks who had never made ice cream or owned their own business. -The ice cream and sorbet are handmade with seasonal farmers market produce. -After starting their business in downtown LA the Pasadena location opened in 2011. So, if you are looking for a treat, give this pioneer in the artisan ice cream business a try soon.

Fresh flavors like brown sugar vanilla and mint cucumber keep me coming back. The waffle cones smell amazing from down the block. Parking on Washington is usually okay. Scoops are creamy and not overly sweet. Staff are upbeat even when the line stacks. A perfect neighborhood treat.
Kris E — Google review
Stopped by Carmela Ice Cream and found their offerings to be decent, though not the best in the area. I felt the different flavors were quite similar, with nothing particularly special or standout about them. Was hoping for a richer flavor profile. If you're in the neighborhood, it's worth a try, but temper your expectations.
BK — Google review
Generally good ice cream. The Lavender Honey tastes more like vanilla, but has a very fine and light taste. The Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean has a great vanilla bean taste, but I missed the small black grains from the vanilla bean, which makes me conclude that it contains artificial flavor only. It is also a little bit too sweet for my taste. The Dark Chocolate with Cocoa Nibs tastes rich in chocolate and the cocoa nibs gives it a nice crunch. I really recommend to opt for the waffle cone as it features a delicious buttery, rich French like flavor. Cute little shop offering a few baked goods as well.
Jasmin H — Google review
The ice cream was a little pricey but it was really really good. My only complaints are the price and the softness off the ice cream. My daughter wanted to taste test one and he put it on a spoon and handed it to her and as he handed it to her it slipped right off onto the floor. I was only going to get ice cream for my kids but when I tasted my son’s fresh mint ice cream cone I walked back in and bought me a cone. The cup was really small. The cone I think was worth the price. We parked in the front of the store. There were only 2 parking spaces on the street. The guy was a little slow at getting things and it took a little while. I would go back. The store was fairly clean. The floor was sticky, my shoes stuck to the floor and when we wiped up the ice cream my daughter dropped the napkin turned black. Everything else looked clean though. I would like to try other things they offer. We will see if we are ever back in Pasadena.

Little Flower Bakery is a charming cafe and candy kitchen located on the outskirts of town, offering a delightful mix of baked goods, confections, and eclectic fare. The cozy space invites guests to savor bakery classics like almond croissants, daily scones, and blueberry bran muffins alongside unique treats such as sea salt caramels. This gem in Pasadena also serves up hot and cold sandwiches, rice bowls, salads, and breakfast options for a satisfying dining experience.
I think I have a crush on Little Flower. I don't live in Pasadena, so I came across it one day and decided to try it out due to the good reviews. It is such an adorable little place, and despite being right off the freeway, it some manages to maintain it's quaintness and peace even that close to the 134. The pastries are what makes it shine. I am addicted to the almond croissant. it is flaky and although it has a generous dusting of powdered sugar, it still manages to not feel overly sweet. It is absolutely delish as was the cinnamon roll with pecans and raisins and the shortbread. I also had the scramble with fennel and sausage and I LOVED it. They have a subtlety that isn't too heavy handed with just a touch of parmesan cheese. My aunt got the Green Goddess salad and loved it and the quiche and strata were awesome too. The strata was remarkable with brocolli, tomato, the perfect combination of veggies and cheese, hearty and filling and such a generous portion my mom and I split it. They also have a wonderful assortment of candies, sauces, honey and beans. Little Flower has definitely become one of my go-tos that I must visit whenever I am in Pasadena. I highly recommend it.

First time here. Impressions: Cute looking little cafe, with too much going on. Merchandise is cool and interesting. Coffee is okay. Pastries are sweet, presentation needs improvement, it didn’t taste fresh to me. The brownie is technically good, but it needs more body. The chocolate sea salt cookie wasn’t crunchy or chewy, a NO for me. The chocolate cake with coffee buttercream felt like it was made out of a cake mix from the store, and the buttercream did not taste good. It needs work, buy it has potential. Less items and more precision its needed. Quality over quantity. More creativity would help as well.
Nicolás T — Google review
A great staple cafe with fresh food and baked goods. Also a go to spot for knick knacks and quick gifts. They are known for their candies and marshmallows but it holds an eclectic collection of items. The place is small with limited seating but it is a cute place to get away to.
Julie H — Google review
While the cleanliness of the shop and the convenience of the little store inside for ordering are positives, my experience at this brunch spot was somewhat underwhelming. The setup, where you order first and then find a table, can be a bit chaotic, especially during busy weekends when tables are hard to come by. Although the food was decent, it didn't quite meet my expectations, and the service left something to be desired. Overall, while it's an okay option for brunch, the mediocre service and hassle of finding a table mean that I won't be returning in the future.
R M — Google review
I came for caramels and left with a full breakfast. Their breakfast burrito is simple and perfect—eggs, bacon, and the right amount of salsa. The house marshmallows are dangerously soft. You can watch them package candy behind the counter sometimes. It feels like a neighborhood kitchen that also happens to make incredible sweets
Anderson B — Google review
We adore this place. It’s more than just a bakery and a café. It’s a great pitstop at the top of Eagle Rock just off 134/210 on the edge of Pasadena, for any time of day or reason. It’s also throwback to better times, when unique gift shops would have seasonal displays and gift ideas for the holidays or any occasion. We pop in for fresh baked goods, lattes, and tea. We also stock up on their homemade sea salt caramels. They are about to decorate for Halloween this week and I can’t wait to see all the goodies! One surprise little treat I just enjoyed: a baked apple cider doughnut with chunks of apple. It was delicious! Their brownies and cookies are also great.
Matty G — Google review
A small café with handmade caramels and a breakfast burrito that’s sneakily excellent. The patio is compact but sunny in the morning. Street parking can be tight; I usually find a spot on San Pascual. Coffee is solid and the pastry case is dangerous. Staff are kind even during rush. Great stop after a Lower Arroyo walk
Daniel M — Google review
So, so disappointing... My husband and I came here for several early dates and have such fond memories of going here. We loved this place and really wanted to continue to cherish it (it's just so darn cute!). However, recently we've only had disappointing experiences. The quality of food has really gone down, flavor isn't anything to write home about, prices have gone up, and worst of all: the staff seems to have such an apathetic attitude at best and are outright rude at worst. We came here for the nostalgia on an anniversary, and left feeling so disappointed and with a sad flavor in our mouths, literally and otherwise. I think it's time to retire coming to Little Flower after all. :(

Koko’s Mediterranean Cafe, also known as Medi Cafe, has been a favorite lunch spot in Pasadena for over two decades. The unassuming cafe-style interior offers familiar Middle Eastern dishes like chicken shawarma with seasoned rice, hummus, Greek salad, and pita. Vegetarian options such as falafel plate lunch and stuffed grape leaves are also popular. The quality of ingredients is top-notch and the prices are unbeatable.
This is the best Mediterranean food I’ve had in the Pasadena area. Extremely delicious and you can taste that they use quality ingredients. Very friendly owner and staff and quick service! Fair prices for the quality and amount of food they give you! My favorite is the chicken and beef kabob plate and the falafel but I’m excited to try more items 😊

Great fast service. Delicious lamb plate. My new favorite Mediterranean spot in Glendale/Pasadena area. Highly recommended.

So I'm leaving a dated review. I grew up in love with this place. It was my go to whenever I lived in Pasadena. The business was booming, fresh and fast. The owner who passed away God rest his soul. Was firm but always kind to me. The new current owner is like his father but I hope he hasn't strayed to far from the path. When I see the prices it saddens me. They are very high however, the food was fantastic with lines out the door at lunch. TBH I'm surprised that they never created more because I would easily invest in the same model in my hometown. Anyway no negative just lots of love.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Koko’s Mediterranean Cafe for over a decade, and it continues to impress me every time. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the service is always friendly, and the food—consistently fresh and flavorful—is what keeps me coming back. My go-to favorite is the beef kabob plate. The meat is perfectly seasoned and grilled to tender perfection, served alongside fluffy rice, crisp salad, and a generous helping of hummus and pita. It’s a comforting, satisfying meal that hits all the right notes—hearty, healthy, and delicious. Over the years, I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu, but I always find myself craving that beef kabob plate. Koko’s is a true local gem, and I’m grateful to have it as a longtime favorite.

In Short, Great food, great price, must try. With a few more details, It’s a small spot in Pasadena, close to all the office buildings on lake, but the flavors inside are huge. Person taking the order was the owner so it is personal and very well looked after and they will always take care of you if you have any request. Great bang for your buck. Chicken shawarma plate had a decent amount of protein. I opted to switch the rice with more salad. Hummus was good and sauces were good too. Very satisfying lunch. Come get some.

I’ve been coming here for years for the beef plate beef kebab. The food is great. The salad is also top-notch as well as the nice air conditioning dining area for those hot days. If you want you could even sit outside in the patio either way it’s an all-around good experience and a good place to eat good healthy food

Awesome spot been going to for years! Quick, tasty, and affordable Mediterranean food. Wraps and plates. Recommend the lamb kebab and chicken kebab plates! A line can form, but they move fast! Parking lot is busy, but you will find a spot…there is high turnover. Large work lunch crowd m-f. The included sauces are amazing. Especially the garlic white sauce. Pita included. Can modify the house salad for hummus or tabouli! Small outdoor covered seating area. Dog and kid friendly. Small seated area inside not dog friendly unless service. Highly reco this spot!

I decided to try this place for the first time, and I purchased a chicken shawarma wrap. I was completely turned off by the taste. You would think they would at least put some type of sauce in the wrap. It was dry and tasteless. This is my first and last time coming here.

Colette Pasadena 人生如戲 is an upscale Cantonese restaurant located on the Pasadena/Arcadia border. The menu features a mix of familiar and innovative dishes, such as crackly chicken skin stuffed with shrimp paste, saucy beef bits under crispy vermicelli noodle pancake, and stir-fried chayote with minced pork and pickled olives.
This place is a must-try! The Honey Glazed Crispy Whole Shrimp is absolutely wonderful! The shrimps are impressively big and fresh, with a perfectly crispy coating that gives way to juicy, tender meat. Every bite is a delightful balance of sweetness and savory crunch. The Black Pepper Diced Beef is another standout—tender, flavorful, and coated in a rich, peppery sauce that packs just the right amount of heat. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for family gatherings or even a cozy date night. Plus, the free parking is a huge bonus!

Food was flavorful and presented very well. Our favorite was the fried shimeji mushroom. So tasty! The area was nice and quiet, lots of parking spaces. The place was clean and the servers were all very attentive and friendly. It was great restaurant all in all but it was a bit pricey for me, we actually ordered some of the cheapest items. Some of the items actually shocked me how expensive it was. I’m not from the area so maybe it’s regularly priced for Pasadena?

We like the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The service is really attentive and friendly. I loved the Jasmine tea, very fragrance and good. Most of the dishes were delicious except the Cha Sui was too lean and dry. The lamb chop was cooked perfectly. The shrimp paste with chicken skin has a nice texture, very bouncy. The batter of the fried oysters was crispy and thin, good contrast with the juicy oysters. The portion is not big, so you can order more variety of dishes. It's a good place to bring out of town visitors and celebrate special occasions.

This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Pasadena. If you love Cantonese food with a little twist, this will be a great go-to place to try out some great dishes. Dumpling restaurant
Dan Modern Chinese in Pasadena offers a unique dining experience, serving traditional Chinese dishes like dumplings and noodles in a mid-century modern setting. The restaurant has gained attention for its pork and blue crab dumplings, which are considered the best in Pasadena. While there may be a wait for a table, the delicious food makes it worth it. Dumplings hold special significance in Chinese culture, especially during Lunar New Year as they symbolize wealth and prosperity.
I keep coming back for the veggies. The green beans and the seaweed with tofu is the best. Their knife-cut noodles with mushrooms have this fantastic smoky flavor—though the portion is a little small. Thankfully, you can swap in brown rice if you prefer. The Salt & Pepper Tofu is a standout—crispy on the outside without being overly breaded—and the Spicy Pork Dumplings are just the right level of heat. Pro tip: Parking is easier across the street if you’re cool with a short walk. Downside: They can be a little understaffed at times
Mabel C — Google review
I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. The food was excellent. I ordered a little of everything to try. They don’t have their own parking but there’s a parking structure right behind and paid street parking available. They’re located in the same shopping area as Sugar Fish and Philz Coffee. It’s very clean inside and they do have a few outdoor tables. Personally I feel the dumplings are a bit pricey, but relevant to Pasadena. Their fried rice was very tasty. I’d prefer the popcorn chicken with more seasoning and without their dipping sauce. The mapo tofu didn’t over power the taste of the crab. I’d definitely order the noodles again. The crispy dumplings were pretty much perfect.

I typically order takeout, but the restaurant is nice as well. xlb is great, three cup chicken and dan mein (any meat) noodles are also favorites. Pea shoots or snow pea leaves are amazing sides. Fried rice solid. Honestly i haven’t had a dish that wasn’t excellent, and service/staff is friendly and attentive. Can’t go wrong!

We absolutely love coming to Dan Modern Chinese! The dumplings here are consistently outstanding – we're particularly fond of the pan-fried chicken dumplings and the vegetable dumplings (which are delicious both steamed and pan-fried). One suggestion that would make our dining experience even better: it would be wonderful if Dan Modern Chinese could offer a "Dumpling Flight" option for small parties. We'd love the opportunity to sample some of the other tempting varieties on the menu, like the chili oil dumplings, crispy dumplings, and the pork and shrimp options. Having a tasting portion of several different styles would be perfect for adventurous diners who want to explore the full range of your dumpling artistry. The food quality is exceptional and the service is always excellent (our waiter Evan was great(. We hope the restaurant will consider this suggestion – it would be a fantastic way to showcase the incredible variety and skill that goes into each dumpling style. Highly recommended!

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We had a reservation and called ahead to see if we could arrive an hour earlier, and they graciously accommodated our request on short notice, which we were very grateful for. The restaurant was clean, and the prices were relatively affordable, especially for the area. My team visited for dinner, and although we ordered a variety of dishes, everyone agreed that the food was excellent and the service was outstanding.

Seafood market
Pasadena Fish Market is a no-frills, counter-serve eatery with limited seating that offers a variety of fried fish and traditional Jamaican dishes. It's highly recommended for its diverse menu, including Jamaican fare, fried chicken, and other delicious options. In addition to their seafood offerings, they also sell the popular Slap yo Momma seasoning for those looking to spice up their home-cooked meals. For those seeking healthier options, grilled fish and shrimp are available as well.
A nice fish market offering lots of fresh seafood and Jamaican cuisine. The fish are very fresh and cooked to order. They are mainly takeout and only have a single table in the corner for dining in. The Tilapia was delicious and not fishy at all. The Jamaican curried goat was also very tasty and satisfying. The owners are friendly and welcoming. Best to order ahead and takeout, since they cook things to order it can take around 15 minutes.

I ordered 3/11/2025, 2 dinners. One was red snapper, rice and Mac and cheese, other was catfish, greens and Mac and cheese. The food was cold, Mac and cheese was not looking good, tastes like it was there a long time. Greens 😞, the fish was hard around the edges and overall I got sick eating the food, will call them at 10 am to complain Called and supposedly spoke to manager, nothing done. She Transferred me back to person in store. Could not understand anything she said. The man in store claim the food gets cold while waiting for pickup. That was not what I called about, the food was not fresh and he was making excuses. Never going back. If I was you check your food before you leave. It might be food that was left out or bad. 😞

I love the food their it always perfectly cooked every time I go. That's a lot of years, not expensive. You have to give this a try. I believe you will love it as I do. I got the red snaper , greens, and rice with peas.

Food here is amazing! I ordered the Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat and was NOT disappointed. The flavor was deep and the spice was PERFECT. I have a really high spice tolerance and for me the food had a perfect amount of heat and flavor. I can't wait to try the other menu items!

I ordered their oxtails and the portions were huge. I got Mac and cheese side and that was delicious. The ox tails were fall of the bone tender and super flavorful. It was busy during lunch time even on a weekday. It was enough food for two meals.

Got to know this little Jamaican place through a friend, even though they don't have the best customer service, it is fine with me. Because the quality of their foods are amazing. My wife loves the Jerk Chicken, the amount of spices are perfect. Their catfish is very good too, no fishy taste/smell whatsoever. I plan to try their other dishes, such as their shrimp, chicken, etc... Last thing, their prices are still within the reasonable range, especially during this inflation period.

Fo real no cap. This place is the business. Southern and Caribbean flavors that'll have you right. Big variety of fresh fish at a reasonable price and portions are nice. I highly recommend Pasadena Fish Market if you got soul and love comfort.

OMG don't sleep I REPEAT Don't sleep on Pasadena Fish Market it's the best fish spot I have been too in a very long time. I call it my fix I start going through withdrawals when I go to long without it. They have a great variety of different kinds of foods besides fish like Jamaican dishes, fried chicken and other amazing tasting dishes. I'm telling you if you sleep on this spot you will regret it. Also they sell the Slap yo Momma seasoning which is 💣💣💣💣💣 for your cook at home meals or to add a little something to those bland meals that we buy from other establishments. They also offer grilled fish and shrimp instead fried for a healthy alternative 😋😋😋😋

Sichuan restaurant
Sichuan Street Food, also known as 当代川菜, is a popular spot that draws crowds eager to savor its authentic Szechuan cuisine. Despite the small size of the place, the wait is worth it for a taste of their flavorful dishes. However, some diners have expressed dissatisfaction with the plastic utensils provided. The restaurant in Pasadena has garnered praise for its variety and quality of dishes, along with commendable service from bilingual staff.
This is a small Chinese restaurant that feels authentic in its food and atmosphere. There are some interesting dishes (such as bullfrog and kidney) that I have not been brave enough to try even though I’m Asian. But we have tried the stir fried green beans, orange chicken, diced chicken with spicy chiles, fried shrimp with salted egg yolk, and their homestyle fried noodles (my kids’ favorite) and everything tasted good. If you like spice, this is the place to go, but if you don’t like spice, you can usually order dishes with mild or no spice. Prices are reasonable. The staff are not overly friendly, but attentive enough and get the job done. They play cooking videos from Vietnam on the TV that my kids love.
Vicky P — Google review
The service here is excellent, asking for serving room temperature water, which suits the Asian preference and is gentler on the stomach compared to ice water. I ordered the cumin lamb and dry fried string beans, and was impressed by how quickly the food arrived. The dishes are authentically Sichuan, packed with flavor and expertly prepared, although it’s a bit on the oily side (which is pretty much expected). I chose the 2nd hottest level and it is indeed spicy. Watching the chefs work with the huge wok fire was a treat— it’s thrilling to see traditional Chinese cooking techniques in action, utilizing high heat for a short cooking time to perfect each dish.

This Sichuan restaurant in Los Angeles is amazing , you can even choose your spice level! The chef’s skills are top-notch, and every dish gives me that warm feeling of being back home. I came a bit late today, so the bullfrog was sold out, but luckily they still had pork kidney, which was fantastic. Great service too , highly recommended!
Loud C — Google review
Amazing Chinese cooks. I ordered a fish dish 304 and a veggie/preserved meat dish 511. The fish is fresh and cooked just right. The preserved meat in the veggie dish is also good quality and a bit sweet. Both dishes are flavorful and NOT salty. Amazing food! Lots of Chinese customers as well.

We decided to try this restaurant in Pasadena because of its impressive 4.9 Google rating, which is rare for any restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype. As the saying goes, “the higher the expectation, the greater the disappointment” — and that was true here. Both dishes we ordered, the Sichuan Dry-Fried Green Beans with Beef and the Stir-Fried Lamb with Cumin, were bland and lacked any spiciness. We even found ourselves questioning whether this was truly Sichuan cuisine. It’s hard to understand how this place has such a high rating. We will not be returning, and for anyone who wants to try it, I’d strongly recommend lowering your expectations before going.
H. J — Google review
The Sichuan food here is absolutely phenomenal! Folks are hardworking, absolutely worth visit! The spicy level is Sichuan level though, be mindful of that when you pick your spicy level:D

Love this place. A humble little Sichuan restaurant. I go here if I want solid Sichuan food but don't want to drive all the way to SGV.

Super authentic and delicious Sichuan cuisine hidden away in a tiny space. One of my favorites in LA! Everything tastes homemade from scratch and made with love and care. They also adjusted the flavor to fit the modern palate, reducing the sodium and grease for a clean aftertaste. All of their dishes are great, and the Bullfrog collection & Pig Trotter Soup are exceptional. Service is quick and efficient: the servers are very responsive and understand the customers’ need well. Highly recommended

Nestled in the realm of affordable gourmet dining, Rice & Nori is a delightful spot where you can indulge in an array of mouthwatering dishes without straining your wallet. The menu boasts popular items like Crispy Stuffed Chicken, Salmon Yuzu Miso Onigiri, and Blue Crab Lotus Leaf Wrapped Sticky Rice. With a vibrant interior and ample seating options—including outdoor tables that welcome both kids and dogs—it's perfect for a casual meal or quick bite.
Great place for a quick bite to eat in or for take out. Their onigiris are FRESH! Parking/Environment: There’s a dedicated parking lot. On a Sunday early afternoon, it didn’t seem too packed but we just parked in the 10 minute spots since we only ordered take out. There were high and low seating indoors and some outdoor patio seats. Food: Aside from their onigiris and hand rolls, they also sold Japanese snacks and drinks. We ordered Spam & Egg Musubi ($4.25), Salmon Yuzu Miso ($4), Spicy Lobster Shrimp ($5.50), and Spicy Tuna Mayo ($4). They were sooo good and hit the spot! Wish I ordered more.
Pauline S — Google review
Pretty nice spot here! We enjoyed the salmon handrolls, and salmon nigiri. There is a parking lot, and some street parking. Cool interior with plenty of seating. There is also about 4 outdoor tables. Kid and dog friendly outside. Salmon was tasty, and everything was fresh. We also got the eggplant ohnigiri. That was solid, but mostly rice… staff was nice, and it was a fun spot for a quick bite! The menu was a bit confusing; the combo seemed higher pricing than the items individually.

One of the best onigiri restaurants of all time. Highly recommend the yuzu salmon. Tastes incredibly fresh
B T — Google review
I def recommend getting the 3 Handroll set for a filling lunch, very worth it as you get 3 handrolls (1 premium), your choice of sashimi, and edamame. I got the Spicy Eggplant Onigiri, Negi Toro Handroll, and Blue Crab Handroll. My favorites were the handrolls. I thought there was too much rice for the onigiri and it wasn’t spicy at all. The handrolls were pretty big and enjoyable. The restaurant is bright and clean.

Delicious Onigiri Just so fantastic, totally worth it
Wil — Google review
The reviews are right, the onigiri and hand rolls are delicious. The service is super quick as well. The seasoning is perfect and the rice is molded well, as in you can taste each grain of rice rather than places that crush the rice to death. They make it perfectly here. The nori does get soggy if you take out, but that's to be expected and unless you want a crispy bite, it's perfectly fine. The crab handroll was amazing, by far my favorite. I would definitely go again.
Melissa M — Google review
The onigiri ratio was way off—too much rice and not enough of the filling. The musubi fell apart for everyone that ordered one in my group because they had been made waaaay in advanced—the nori was super greasy and obliterated. The miso soup was meh. The hand rolls were ok at best but again had way too much rice and not enough filling. $90 and we walked away hungry. Definitely not going back.
Haiyen S — Google review
Amazing Onigiri and handrolls! We had the handroll set of three with bay scallop, Uni cheese (don’t miss this one!) and spicy salmon. All excellent. We also ordered onigiri- bacon and avo, salmon and tuna.. salmon was our least favorite. Also seaweed salad is perfection and please don’t skip the lychee lemonade!

If you're in search of an elevated dining experience, Pez Coastal Kitchen is a must-visit. This stunning restaurant boasts a modern tropical ambiance that perfectly complements its focus on seafood and seasonal California cuisine. Helmed by the talented husband-and-wife team, Chef Bret Thompson and Lucy Thompson-Ramirez, Pez Coastal Kitchen offers an array of expertly prepared dishes featuring cured, smoked, and dry-aged seafood.
We passed by PEZ and were drawn in by the restaurant’s lovely ambiance, so we decided to walk in. We ordered oysters, seafood pasta, scallops, and dessert — everything was delicious, no misses at all. The dessert, a citrus olive oil cake, was especially unique with its refreshing sweet and tangy flavor. The elderly gentleman who served us was very attentive and kind. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with plenty of comfortable sofa seating. Overall, we were very satisfied — it’s a great spot for a date or a casual hangout with friends.

This is a beautiful restaurant with a modern tropical ambiance. I’ve enjoyed their food from Happy Hour to dinner as well as for brunch and Dine LA. The food is delicious and nicely prepared. The dinner plate presentation can be a little busy. I do not recommend ordering the seafood tower though; the lobster and crab were overcooked and quite chewy. Overall, dining here is a great experience! Kudos to Chef Brett!

New restaurant in Old Town Pasadena. Used to be the old Slater 50/50. Decor was cute! It's the second Saturday being open. Almost brand spanking new. Which explains the feeling of not being as polish in decor or service. Service was friendly enough. Foodwise, plating was photogenic. Taste wise, it was alright. Nothing mind-blowing or memorable. I think it's likely because it's a new restaurant and they are still finding their rhythm 🤔 **Came back on 5/1/2024. Service was more polished, and decor was more put together. Enjoyed the experience.

This was our first and last visit to this restaurant. Our waiter, Daniel, provided excellent service, offering detailed explanations and recommendations for each dish. The atmosphere was pleasant, but unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. While the Ahi tuna was enjoyable with its delicious sauce and vegetables, the spaghetti was excessively oily. Despite being hesitant to send it back, my fiancé did so with his seabass, which was also overly oily. He then opted for a Caesar salad, which turned out to be overly cheesy. Despite the beautiful setting and wonderful staff, we were ultimately disappointed with the food quality.
Naira S — Google review
A really great place for dinner, the atmosphere is just lovely! My partner and I shared the bread service, oysters, the scallop entree, and the olive oil cake dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious, the oysters had zero grit, the scallops were cooked so perfectly, and the broccolini was brilliantly crisp. The olive oil cake dessert was very good, but a little more intense than we anticipated, by all means, very delicious, but we weren't prepared for such a bright citrus dessert at the end of our dinner. I look forward to trying more menu items, though it'll be hard not to just keep ordering those scallops. This place will definitely be on our list for date nights.

Rodney's Ribs Food Truck is a culinary gem nestled in Pasadena, serving up some of the most mouthwatering barbecue since its inception in 2014. This beloved local spot specializes in an array of smoked meats, including meaty racks, rib tips, and spare ribs that are cooked to perfection. Patrons rave about the juicy brisket and tender ribs that practically fall off the bone.
Lordie, that brisket is heavenly and the ribs are bomb! Brisket is marbled with a perfect crust, ribs so tender! Went lunchtime on a Tuesday, got a lb of brisket and some ribs for meals at home. Rodney’s a super-nice guy and a pleasure to talk to. Grew up local, cares a lot about the community, and makes some kick-ass barbecue! We’ll be back soon! 🙌

It was authentic! There’s just something special about when small business owners pour their heart and soul into what they do—and you can taste the difference! We had the ribs and brisket—yum, yum, and yum! We also enjoyed the potato salad and collard greens (they had already sold out of the other sides, which tells you something!). Everything was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. A big thank you to Rodney and Andre—the Dynamic Duo! Your love for food and your passion for sharing it with others really shines through. My husband told me, “You need to write a review!”—and he gave it 10 out of 10 stars (and he’s pickier than I am!). We’ll definitely be back.Until next time! ~ Sandra

The ribs are delicious, the only reason I don't give it 5 starts is because they ran out of brisket, which apparently is very popular. Tuttie's tips were really good but if you eat a lot, and from this place you probably will, I recommend Rodney's Dinner instead. Furthermore, the hot link is a must!

Delicious, worth the wait & worth every penny. Easy ordering easy payment and super friendly service. Came here just because it was bbq near where we were and we will definitely be coming back. The brisket sandwich was tender and tasty and enough for two huge servings. The rib tips were huge & so tender and tasty.

Amazing barbecue food truck that specializes in ribs. We ordered Rodney’s dinner that came with 5 juicy, fall of the bone ribs and 2 sides, as well as 2 extra ribs a la carte. The food was very tasty and satisfying. The ribs were drenched in sauce but surprisingly not uber sweet. The beans and potato salad were great complements to the ribs.

Hey Rod it’s Alex, the ribs and brisket were f*****ng bomb! I’m glad I Finally had a chance to stop by and try it! The brisket was perfectly juicy, soft, and tender. The ribs were soft and just came right off the bone 🍖! I’m often smoking ribs and Tri-tip at home, so I don’t typically like getting smoked bbq from anywhere else because I know what Home-smoked done right tastes like. Now that I’ve tried your truck, I know where to get good barbecue that tastes better than at home. 👍🏽 will definitely recommend to friends and family! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nestled on a charming tree-lined street, Racion is a delightful gem that brings the essence of Spanish Basque cuisine to life. This cozy eatery focuses on sustainability and local ingredients, offering an array of small plates perfect for sharing. The menu, crafted by Chef Shane Alvord, showcases a creative fusion of European traditions with Asian influences and California's fresh produce.
I love tapas. I love Spain. What Racion is what I call Cal-Pas. Cal-Pas meaning California-style tapas. The experience is upscale feeling, but, don't let that stop you from dining here. I saw someone stroll in in a t-shirt and shorts. The service is very attentive and super friendly. Our server was very professional and knowledgeable in the dishes and also the wine. She was well trained and able to answer all my questions. chicken croquettes - **** beef tongue - **** sangria - **** seasonal short ribs - **** wine from Jumilla region - **** All dishes were outstanding -- four stars out of four! Weekday night and the place was about 1/3 full. Atmosphere was bright, clean, and not too stuffy. Service was attentive. However, there was a long wait time between dishes. Food was well prepared and had great flavor. The small plates seemed to be more refined than other Tapas places I've been to. Portions are small, but the free bread is excellent. Lamb meatballs: 4/5 Squid ink pasta: 4/5 Squid stuff with duck: 4/5 Cured salmon: 4.5/5 Spanish custard with pistachio: 4/5 Free bread: 5/5 Sangria: 3/5 Parking: meh (it's old town Pasadena)

DE-licious! The food is delicious, but the portions are tiny. Tiny, but very impressionable. It has been a few weeks since I feasted on TWO portions of lamb meatballs and I have yet to stop dreaming about them. The sangria is very smooth and equally delicious. Do yourself a favor and order a carafe. One glass is simply not enough. Despite the delicious, bite-sized pieces of heaven. One of the real reasons I love Racion is because it is economically-sustainable restaurant. I love supporting small businesses who pay their employees fairly. It is a win-win. GREAT food and a wonderful atmosphere.

Although I can't say that Racion is the best tapas I've had, I am definitely giving this place a thumps up. Racion is great in that it's authentic but with small flares of fusion incorporated in some of the dishes. I also love the relaxing yet slightly romantic ambiance. I was at Racion with a large party so I got to try a lot of dishes. I especially enjoyed the Squid Ink Pasta, the Manchego Cheese Plate. Braised Octopus, Chicken Croquettes, Crispy Prawns and the Conserva aka Charcuterie Plate. The Braised Octopus especially stood out to me. The octopus was amazingly tender and delicious. It was interesting to see crispy fried prawns and langoustines in X.O. sauce since those are something you would expect to see on an Asian restaurant menu. I really enjoyed the prawns but did not care of the langoustines. They have a small wine by the glass selection but a big wine list by the bottle. Most if not all of their selections are Spanish wines. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on all the wine options they offer along with the dishes. She was very good at describing the flavors and texture of each dish. She was also very patient with us since it's our first time there in answering all of our questions. The dishes came out in reasonable amount of time in a nice progression. I would recommend this place for a visit. It is located on Green, a little away from the bustling of the main portions of Old Town Pasadena. You can either find free street parking after 8pm or park on the structure on Delacey, which is 90 minutes free.

Amara Cafe & Restaurant is a cozy Venezuelan spot that offers South American fare such as arepas, cachapas, and Spanish churros. It's a great place for a hearty breakfast or a full-fledged meal. The cafe also serves artisanal Venezuelan dark hot chocolate that is thick, creamy, and rich in flavor. For those with an adventurous palate, the hot chocolate can be enjoyed Aztec style with added chile pasilla for a spicy kick.
We tried the trio plate and the Llanera Cachapas with pork and Madrid style churros. 5/5 on everything. Guava lemonade is nice and tart and cuts right through the richness of our dishes. Just the comfort food I needed this weekend. Trust the hype on this one. Also, the lovely woman working the register this morning is amazing.

Amara’s Cafe is a Venezuelan cafe that makes mornings feel special. I stopped by around 8 a.m. and immediately loved the calm, relaxed atmosphere with no crowds and no wait. It was the perfect time to enjoy breakfast with good coffee. I ordered the Galipan cachapa, a traditional Venezuelan dish that is basically a sweet corn pancake cooked until golden and folded over with salty cheese. The plate came with flavorful black beans, fluffy scrambled eggs, tangy sour cream, a bright green salsa, and tender shredded meat. It was a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and creamy in every bite. For a seasonal touch, I had the pumpkin latte which was smooth, spiced just right, and not too sweet. As an added surprise, they brought out a complimentary plate of churros with chocolate. The churros were crisp and warm and the chocolate sauce was rich and glossy, a perfect way to end the meal. The service was just as good as the food. The cashier was welcoming and gave excellent recommendations that made it easy to choose dishes worth trying. Overall Amara’s Cafe delivers authentic Venezuelan flavors with a relaxed modern cafe setting. The food is thoughtful, the service is warm, and the morning ambiance is calm and inviting. It is definitely a place worth visiting again.

Drinks we had were good. Food is ok. Dessert was very good! Small space inside. Some outside seating by the walkway. Structure parking. Elevators were not working. Had to use a few flights of stairs.

Always a pleasure eating or just getting coffee at Amara. A great staff, super tasty food, and a great location. Can’t be beat. One of my family’s favorite places in Pasadena.

The food is delicious! I highly recommend their guava and cheese pastry and their lavender matcha latte. It actually tasted like lavender! If you want a quick breakfast or a chill place to get some work done then this is the place. The employees are also very nice!

Takeout Restaurant
Pasadena Sandwich Company is a family-owned and operated deli with offbeat decor and hearty portions. Sandwiches are made to order and can include signature combinations or be customized to your taste. The deli is open Monday through Saturday, and seems definitely worth checking out!
Great sandwich place, old school, impressed. I had the Virginian (pastrami/turkey on rye). Fresh bread, very good meats and generous serving. For $5, you can add a very small serving of potato or macaroni salad and a medium drink. The potato salad was a little dry and tasteless. Free drink refills. Parking is limited, and the available dining area is small, but OK, if you arrive after lunch time. Recommended.

Above the counter here, there is a plaque dating from March 2015 congratulating Pasadena Sandwich Company on 20 years of operation. So I guess they have added another 10 years to that, making it 30 years. I am not surprised -- at the shop’s longevity, I mean. The quality of the food here, not to mention the friendly staff certainly merit a 30 year run in Pasadena. This was my first visit and I did not know what to expect, but I looked at their menu online prior to the visit and saw that they served genuine Reuben sandwiches. So that's what I ordered. My sandwich arrived on gently toasted delicious rye bread with corned beef mounded high on the bread, Swiss Cheese, sauerkraut, plus mustard and horseradish per my preference for this classic. Sorry folks, I just can’t hack Russian Dressing on anything, particularly an innocent sandwich. Alongside there was a pickle spear, the way it should be. I also picked up a bag of chips to gnaw on with my sammich. Sadly the only thing missing was a cold Pilsner beer.to wash it down. Oh, what a lovely sandwich it was: juicy, flavorful, redolent with pungent sauerkraut and mustard.. I have not had such a splendid Reuben in years. While he was preparing my order, the friendly fellow behind the counter asked if I like spicy stuff (I had asked for spicy mustard and horseradish.) “Yes,” I replied, “Love it.” “Well I have some Ghost Pepper cheese here, I’ll put a slice on your plate so you can try it.” Wow! This place just vibrates on another frequency compared to what I am used to. The sandwich was huge, everything about it spoke care into the universe and I knew the minute I tasted it I would be back for more.

First time at the spot. Recommended by a Pasadena native. It was friggin’ fantastic! As a sandwich connoisseur (yes, I said it) this restaurant was head and shoulders above most sandwich shops. We arrived at the shop just after the lunch rush which was accidentally but perfectly timed. There is construction going on in the pass through hallway that the shop is connected to but still open. Parking wasn’t a problem either. The small shop had bar, pub, and table seating. We were able to walk right up to the counter and order our sandwiches: two turkey supreme on squaw and a New Yorker. (Note: they also sell deli meat by the pound if you want to make your own at home sandwiches.). I love a sandwich shop that offers squaw or brown bread. It is my all-time favourite! The woman who helped said it would be about 15 minutes so we had a seat. They were done with our sandwiches in about 6 minutes. Once home I am happy to report that my sandwich had no condiments or sauces on it as I requested. Yes, I’m that person. I was stunned to see how thick the sandwich was but I am not complaining. We each devoured half of our sandwich and were stuffed. The turkey supreme was SO DARN GOOD! I can’t remember the last time I had a sandwich that I couldn’t stop thinking about but this one definitely fit the bill. Well done, PSC!

I was out Pasadena way, and I always ask the locals where to eat. My client recommended the Pasadena Sandwich Co. I really liked the look and feel of the shop and the service was prompt and friendly. I opted for the "trust the cook" option on the menu as that's always the best and most telling place to start when trying a new restaurant. I was not disappointed. It was a mountain of meat and bread. I thought it was quite tasty and a good value for the price. The only critique is that the pastrami was a little more stringy than I would've preferred but not so much so that I removed it. If you're hungry in Pasadena, give this shop a shot

Genuinely, a real treasure of Pasadena. About 9 years ago I went to a job interview where the interviewer INSISTED we went to PSC, and I've been hooked ever since! I wish I had discovered it sooner in life :) John, the owner, goes above and beyond. We recently ordered catering and it came on time, the food and fixings were perfect, and our family was thrilled with how packed the sandwich was. John even called to check if everything went well. Liz Lemon on 30 Rock once said "All of humankind has one thing in common: the sandwich. I believe that all anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich" - and this place truly embodies that philosophy. Don't eat at a Subway, or a Jersey Mike's - no. Pick a local family owned business that provides quality food at reasonable prices. Eat here. You won't regret it. And if you do you probably don't like sandwiches anyway!

These sandwiches were delicious and so filling. I highly recommend the Virginian and be brave with Trust the Cook. The fries were crispy and delicious with ketchup.

Small hard to find shop with limited parking. Limited hours. Not to mention it was crowded during lunch hours. With that said they have amazing customer service. More importantly, they have incredibly huge, and tasty homemade sandwich. The food is worth having to deal with all the downside of coming here.
Wilson W — Google review
Now this place knows how to make one he'll of a rueben sandwich. It was meat packed and the bread was fresh. I do wish they would have added a little more thousand island, but that's OK. :) I wasn't a fan of their potato salad, but that negligible when you consider how perfect of a sandwich they give you. Staff even came out at one point and gave some fries on the house. The atmosphere was also very cute. I'll be a repeat customer moving forward! It's a little hole in the wall, but it's worth the search.

Bone Kettle is a trendy restaurant located in Old Pasadena, offering a unique dining experience centered around Indonesian cuisine and slow-cooked bone broth. Chef Erwin Tjahyadi, with his background in fine dining and Southeast Asian influences, has curated a diverse menu featuring shareable appetizers, complete rice plate lunches, and noodle soups made with the restaurant's signature 36-hour simmered bone broths.
Came here for brunch/lunch with a friend. It was my first time visiting, and will definitely be back. The Eggs Benedict plate was one of the best I've ever had (maybe the best - and I would know - eggs benny is one of my fav meals👌)! My friend had the fried shrimp and loco moco.. both also perfection. The drinks and service were also wonderful and kind. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside, but the interier looked nice and modern. Thank you for the great food, and kind, and patient service.

Bone Kettle: A Flavor-Packed Gem in Pasadena From the moment we stepped into Bone Kettle, we knew we were in for something special. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance, sleek, modern, and warm with attentive staff who make you feel like a regular even on your first visit. But let’s talk about the food. The star of the show? Their legendary broth slow-simmered for 36 hours, rich, silky, and layered with flavor. Every spoonful feels like a masterclass in depth and technique. Every dish is beautifully plated and thoughtfully prepared, showcasing Southeast Asian flavors with a refined twist. The appetizers are equally impressive, and the craft cocktails hold their own alongside the bold cuisine. Prices are fair for the quality, and portions are satisfying without overwhelming. You can tell the team here takes real pride in their work. Bone Kettle isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. Highly recommend for date nights, foodies, or anyone who wants to taste something extraordinary in the heart of Pasadena.

It's been a while since I've been here, but I recently came for the Lao New Year Pop-up event, and do NOT regret it! Food was AWESOME! Sure, it's from the regular menu items, and from what I remember, that was still good! Definitely worth taking your date here regardless!

The food was made well but nothing jumped out as amazing. The broth is what they are known for and it lives up to the 36hrs of work they put into it. The garlic prawns were a great share plate. The lunch combo was worth its price.

Good food and excellent service! The fusion of Asian flavor and traditional western flare was blended nicely. My Pistachio latte was delicious and I was hoping for latte art bc that’s the norm now. lol Street or structure parking Bill incl a 20% service fee which is not a tip.

Food wasn’t bad, I came in for LA Dine in. I got the beet salad that was pretty good and the chicken wings. Then we got the brisket broth that was good I only like the broth, the noodles were strange like it was from a package. I didn’t try the sandwich it looks greasy so I brought it home.
Yen B — Google review
They automatically add a 20% service fee (you can ask to remove it, but there’s no other way to tip—this replaces a traditional tip). The food was solid: we had the beet salad, drunken noodles, and fried rice, all worth ordering. Don’t skip the yuzu lemonade; it’s excellent.
Vikas K — Google review
We had a wonderful experience at Bone Kettle for our family dinner! We booked a semi-private space for 18 adults and 5 little ones (all under 3), and from start to finish the staff went above and beyond. With so many kids, it took a while to get everyone settled, but the team never rushed us—they gave us plenty of time before the food started coming out, which was a huge relief. Even as the restaurant got busier later in the evening, we always felt like our group was being taken care of. The fun music in the background even had our toddlers dancing, which made for a joyful atmosphere. The planning process was simple and efficient thanks to Thea, who helped us customize a menu perfectly suited to our group. Bone Kettle provides sample menus, but we loved how flexible they were in letting us mix and match dishes from their regular menu. Everything came out smoothly, right on time, and most importantly—it was all delicious! The small plates and appetizers were true standouts. I also really appreciated the transparency: for large parties there’s a 20% service fee, but the food prices were exactly the same as the regular menu (no hidden markups). At the end of the night I wanted to leave an additional tip for how wonderfully they handled our big group, but the servers and manager kindly declined. That gesture alone spoke volumes about their integrity and hospitality. All in all, Bone Kettle gave us an unforgettable evening—delicious food, amazing service, and a welcoming environment that made our whole family (including the kids) feel at home. Highly recommend for larger gatherings!

Italian restaurant
New American restaurant
Hippo is a California-Italian restaurant located in Highland Park, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere with beautiful bow-truss ceilings and warm wood touches. The menu features contemporary American & Italian fare prepared in an open kitchen, with a focus on California/Mediterranean dishes using market produce. The restaurant is known for its housemade pastas, grilled meats, and seafood. The dining room has an airy ambiance with beamed ceilings and an open kitchen as the focal point.
Happy hour at Hippo turned out to be the perfect introduction to this exceptional Italian restaurant. The carefully curated menu offers diverse and inventive dishes that showcase both traditional Italian influences and creative global inspirations. The standout dish was undoubtedly the Indian-inspired striped sea bass - a masterful fusion that perfectly balanced bold spices with the delicate fish. The complex flavor profile created a truly memorable dining experience that would alone warrant a return visit. Their pasta offerings showcased authentic Italian craftsmanship. The spaghetti delivered classic comfort while the Duck Ragu demonstrated their skill with richer, more complex flavors. The Brussels sprouts offered a perfect complementary side with their savory depth. No meal is complete without dessert, and the brown butter cake provided a sophisticated sweet finale to our culinary journey. The beverage program deserves special recognition - particularly their rosé selection which impressed even a self-professed rosé skeptic. Their cocktail menu offers equally thoughtful options. Beyond the exceptional food, Hippo's service and pacing elevated the entire experience. The server guided us through the menu with knowledge and enthusiasm, while the kitchen's timing ensured each dish arrived at the perfect moment. Hippo successfully balances sophistication with accessibility, making it ideal for everything from casual happy hours to special occasions. This restaurant has rightfully earned its place among the must-visit dining destinations in the area.

Came for a Friday nite dinner with friends, 90 percent of what we got was fabulous, leaving me wanting to order the same thing over and again, great starter menu. My friend who ordered the steak has to send it back but I loved my striped bass. The cauliflower was our favorite and my 7 years old nephew licked the plate of the duck ragu…. The sea scallops were so tender and scrumptious!

Celebrating my mom’s birthday at Hippo. Everything was wonderfully scrumptious and flavorful. Burrata was refreshing and creamy. Duck ragu and broccoli ravioli with clams were pleasantly tasty. Main dishes were chicken thighs and striped bass and both of them were phenomenal. Especially, the chicken thighs that perfectly cooked so they were very tender, moist, and juicy. Birthday girl had to get her cake so we finished our meal with warm dark chocolate hazelnut cake. Many thanks to our server. His name is Alejandro. He’s very kind, nice, and attentive.

Totally enjoyed dinner with my mom last night. As much as I wanted to give a perfect rating, I must say that the inside of the resto can get very, very loud. It was somewhat difficult to have a conversation without asking them to repeat what they were saying. Regardless of that, the service was decent and the food is AMAZING. At first, my mom and I thought the pasta serving was too tiny but we got full eventually and left the place with happy bellies.

Good foodie place. Sort of a refreshing take on American Italian. But also sort of a Californian restaurant. The food is rich and interesting, but sometimes with dishes like this I get a "flavor fatigue" and need to drink a lot of water to reset. I REALLY liked the shaved brussel sprouts. They were so much better than a traditional salad
Andrew G — Google review
The food was delicious. The chicken plate was nice and spicy with soft potatoes, super savory. The hippo bread was made fresh with a butter cinnamon spread that made them taste like cinnamon rolls! The duck ragu was meaty and filling. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the duck was flavorful. Could use more cheese, but that's just because I love cheese. The dessert was mouthwatering basque style cheesecake which was thick and creamy throughout and accompanied by some blueberries and whipped cream. We also had the Kentucky butter cake which had soft moist exterior texture. Had a nice buttery salty taste and the lemon curd added the perfect amount of brightness to the dish.
Wally — Google review
The hippo rolls were excellent. Our favorite item that we tried. Also had the prosciutto. For mains we had the tortellini duck ragú and broccoli rabe ravioli. The flavors in the dish were excellent. I used the bread we still had to dip it into the ravioli sauce. For dessert we tried the warm strawberry cake and the Kentucky butter cake. I enjoyed the strawberry one more. Nice anniversary dinner.
Tom T — Google review
Food looked good but both the salad and pasta were so salty that the taste of the other ingredients was completely overwhelmed. I was hungry so ate the pasta and my tongue and stomach are burning hours later. When I pointed out that the four people who tried the salad found it too salty to eat, nothing was done except the half-full dish was taken off the table but not off the bill, which was kindly paid by our friend.

Love this place. Super cute but can get busy. I usually just order ahead and take it to go, but it’s a nice place to hang out and there is seating inside and outside if you choose to dine-in. They also sell honey (obviously lol) and other local goods. Great coffee + food! Friendly staff.

Very cute coffee shop with great tasting coffee. I added cinnamon to a vanilla latte and it was very tasty. They do have some indoor and outdoor seating but it was quite busy with a line when I visited around 10 am on a weekday. Despite the size of the line they got through the orders fairly quickly and it didn’t take as long as I anticipated. They have a lot of unique lavender and honey combinations of coffees to try out.

Very cute little coffee shop that had a great menu and lots of additional things for your eyes to wander over, like the local honey. This is a great place to chill, meet your friends, and have a quick bite while you read. The staff is very thorough, super charismatic, and very knowledgeable about their craft. I'll definitely continue to visit this spot while I'm in town. Be warned, bring a fully charged laptop/phone if you plan to do any work here. And bring and open appetite to try something new!

Very cute spot ! Gave me hipster vibes . The line was always long . They had a lot of staff helping out working inside so we didn’t wait too long for the coffee . Their pastries I think are from other vendors and not baked in house but they were tasty . We ordered a brown sugar latte and salted caramel latte. I appreciate the 8 ounce option.! The coffee itself is pretty good. Not as strong , but I just read that they use clutch coffee, which is probably why I’m not a huge fan of klatch! Although they did make a pretty decent cup of coffee!
Nikki A — Google review
This place is fairly small and can get packed quickly. They have some seating inside and a very small outdoor patio. There’s a parking lot next to it, but that fills up fast since it’s for all the businesses on that corner. The coffee and toast were good but pricey. They recently increased their prices due to inflation, and it’s $8 for a normal-sized cup if you’re getting alternative milk.

Dumpling restaurant
Shandong Dumplings is a traditional Chinese restaurant with two locations in California, one in San Gabriel's Hilton Hotel Plaza and another in Old Pasadena. The owner, Ashley Yu, originally from Shandong province, has been making dumplings and crepes for 20 years. Despite some challenges with staffing due to high rent costs, the owner is known for her kindness and passion for food.
I know this place doesn’t have a good service, but the owner of this restaurant is a really kind and friendly person. She can’t hire more waitresses and waiters because the rent for this place is too expensive and she needs to spend more money on paying the rent and the cook. So please understand her situation. She’s been making dumplings and crepes for 20 years, she’s really passionate about making food. This is a traditional Chinese restaurant that really worth to go.
Etheria H — Google review
Don't be fooled by the negative reviews. The food here, considering the location, is pretty decent. Dumplings are juicy and noodles are Q (if you know what that means!) You could find better food if you drive to San Gabriel, but let's be honest that's another 20-40 minute drive round trip and sometimes you just don't want to waste your time on that commute. Best part? They have fresh garlic at the table that perfectly compliments the dumplings.
Sharn K — Google review
Best lunch value in old pas...thus far . In the couple of months I've been working here, this is the best bang for your buck place for lunch. For less than 10 bucks (before tax) you get a choice of noodles (of 4) or fried rice, hot and sour soup, cold appetizers, and 5 pieces of pot stickers. As for the food itself, the noodles, soup and appetizers were all great! The pot stickers were mediocre which is surprising since this place is supposed to be a “dumpling house”. Perhaps their steamed/boiled ones are better. It seems they just fried the boiled ones to make pot stickers but that is, if you know your dumplings, a no no since their skins need to be of different thicknesses and filling of different flavors (boiled needs more flavor to accommodate the flavor loss due to boiling and skin thicker so filling wont fall out as easily from cooking, pot stickers need thinner skins so that theyre more crispy and less flavor intensity since its not getting boiled out). Server was nice but i could see service being slow if it was more crowded (usually quiet when ive been). Overall 4.5 stars but rounding to 5 for the sheer value. Place is also clean looking( for a Chinese restaurant). Edit: Went back again and was pleasantly surprised that the pot stickers are now thin skinned and crispier (as they should be). Full 5 stars

House special beef noodle soup is the bomb. Enough to share with someone. Dumplings are also good. I like the celery pork dumplings.

Better than I expected, given the look of the place. Dumplings had good flavor. A touch too doughy, but still within a good range of density. Excellent spicy beef and noodle soup. Seems pretty authentic in terms of flavor and overall atmosphere. Service was a bit on the rough side, but that is also authentic.

ShanDong Dumplings offers authentic Chinese dumpling and noodle eats in the outskirts of Old Town Pasadena. Just a couple blocks north of Colorado, this location is much more convenient for Pasadena residents than having them drive out to San Gabriel Valley. Aside from flavors, their casual prices just as similar, which is surprising for a business established in Old Town. I had their Pork and Celery Boiled Dumplings and their House Special Spicy Sirloin Noodle Soup and found them both to be accurately delicious. As full disclosure, my visit was during their soft opening period, so there were limited menu choices, even though it didn't compromise my dining experience. Service was average, but had no complaints. Decor is a bit cheesy but at least comfortable, so it didn't feel like a hole in the wall.

Such a cute little mom and pop shop. Super nice staff that are super helpful. The macaroni and cheese is amazing. Jalapeno in the crust. So it has a little kick to it. But no too much. Went in during off peak hours so there was plenty of street parking right in front. Only one other person eating there so service was quick. Ordered their popular chicken po boy dish and the service was amazing. Friendly staff and they were enthusiastic. Food was alright. Huge portion, filling. Not too flavorful but the sauce makes it. UPDATE: VERY SAD TO SAY, went there for lunch today, 9-19-2019 to find out that this was their last day in business. Such great food and great people, hope to find them again in their next chapter. Always love eating here. Great chili is always on the menu, but there are several items that rotate that are delicious. Not just savory, but great desserts too. Updated: went again today. The short rib biscuits and gravy was off the hook! Took back some amazing desserts for the office.

Really liked this style of comfort food. I had the "fried chicken po' boy sandwich" and "fried Mac and cheese" both fantastic! Small to tiny location. Maybe 10- 12 people can eat inside at a time. It's next to the Ice House comedy club on a one-way street. I parked on the street and had a hard time finding a space.

Had a great meal here. Saw the place on tv and had to stop in while visiting the L.A. area. Was greeted upon entering the restaurant. The cashier asked if I had been there before and I expressed I had not. He briedly went over the menu and his favorites. I went for the popular chicken poboy!!! Food arrived timely. Looked great. Tasted better. The owner even came out at the end and chatted with us. It was towards closing time. Just a great experience all around. Some key tips. If you get the PO boy ask for a small dish...its too much chicken to pickup and bring your appetite. Place is not huge so large groups [5 or more] I would suggest ordering togo.

My mom found out this place that has been here for 5 years! It is amazing! The staff is dedicated, helpful, generous, and thoughtful. But, the food is even better! I have never had better fried chicken (juicy, crisp on the outside, light and flavorful batter). It is kettle fried in small batches so prepare to wait ~7 to 10 min because it is also made to order. Which is why it is insanely delicious! The gorgonzola potatoes salad is brilliant. I usually hate potatoe salad but this is amazing. The tacos ended up beating out the fried chicken in my mind for best thing I had... which insane because the fried chicken is the best I have ever had (admittedly I did not grow up in the South). Plus, the mushrooms in the taco blew my mind. So just come here and get anything on the menu and enjoy the family style food and environment.

I'd almost describe the place as a boutique restaurant - it's small, and the menu is always full of oddly enticing items. The food is always good - last time I was here was several years ago (for unrelated reasons), and today didn't disappoint. I had the "roast beast" and it was meaty, tangy, and crunchy deliciousness. The fried chicken is also good, if memory serves.

We tried B&C when they catered a friend's party. Delicious! We love this place. They forget stuff kinda often. Today I had the beef rib tacos, and it only had sour cream and onions on it. They also forgot to bring out our sides. Last time we ordered takeout, and we didn't get our biscuits. The food is great, the service is friendly but forgetful... If they can fix that, I'd give them five stars.

Sushi Enya in Pasadena is a local chain that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere along with a variety of Japanese staples, including their comically large specialty rolls. The restaurant provides modern Japanese fare with an American twist, making it stand out from typical sushi spots. With its semi-elegant yet family-friendly ambiance, Sushi Enya caters to both intimate dinners and casual gatherings.
Bar seating is great experience but you can’t order cut rolls only sushi sashimi and handroll which is great for us anyways. They have interesting/unusual menu such as squid tempura. Sushi comes in interesting flavors.

Guys, what’s with the chip-thin rolls? Honestly, it feels like a cheap marketing move to make you think you’re getting more for their overpriced sushi. Both rolls were completely overpowered by sauce. The service and atmosphere were great, but I wouldn’t come back. There are much better spots at this price point.

Super Sushi place in Pasadena. The food quality is super high and so are also the prices. I am guessing this is how it is nowadays. I was visiting from Europe and was still surprised how I paid 40 USD for 2 small items and a desert. So if you have something to celebrate where you will not take a second look at the prices... this is ideal for you. Great place, great service and super food quality. 1 Star removed due to the price tag.

Sushi Enya in Pasadena is the kind of place that reminds you what real sushi should taste like — clean, fresh, and beautifully balanced. Every piece felt crafted with intention and precision, from the texture of the rice to the perfect temperature of the fish. I went in expecting a solid sushi experience, but Enya completely exceeded that. The fish quality was top-tier — buttery, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth fresh. The rolls were artfully presented and balanced in flavor rather than overloaded with sauces. You can tell the chefs truly respect the craft. The atmosphere is refined yet relaxed — dim lighting, minimalist decor, and a calm energy that lets the food speak for itself. The staff were professional, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they serve, which added to the overall experience. In short: Sushi Enya is easily one of Pasadena’s standout sushi spots. It’s not just about eating sushi here — it’s about appreciating it. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi lover or just getting into it, this place will raise your standards.

Delicious sushi. Every single piece was delicate, fresh, and melted in my mouth. Skip the rolls, the nigiri are the real stars of the show. Putting a fresh new shine on authentic standards. (Almost too fresh--I wanted the mackerel to be more salty and fishy.) Their daily sake recommendation was so tasty too--bright and warm without being sweet.

Some of the best oysters I’ve had in LA! Overall good place, and I definitely recommend it. It’s pricy, but so worth it. We chose to sit at the “bar”, which meant we weren’t able to order sushi rolls. But getting to see the chef prepare your food in front of you is a great experience!
Marilu P — Google review
If I could give 6 stars I would! This is by far the best nigiri and sashimi I've ever had. It's clear there is an uncompromised level of care and sophistication with the ingredients they use. The types of fish we ordered I've had dozens, if not hundreds of times before, but they have never tasted as good nor had such a delicate texture. While the menu is relatively pricey, its evident you are getting exactly what you pay for with each and every delicious bite. The Maki was also delicious and expertly prepared. A massive roll skillfully packed and cut into 15 thin, perfectly bite sized pieces. Service was fast and friendly, and they have an omakase menu by the sushi bar (where if seated, you can't order Maki rolls). A definite must try for any sushi/ seafood fan.

Float Pasadena is a charming retro storefront located in the picturesque Burlington Arcade alley, offering indoor-outdoor seating and a cozy ambiance. The cafe specializes in gourmet sodas and classic sandwiches made fresh to order. Guests can indulge in the namesake floats, including traditional root beer floats with artisanal root beer and San Gabriel Valley's own Fosselmans ice cream.
As soon as you open the door to this small coffee and sandwich shop in the Burlington arcade, you are greeted with friendly personnel and great aromas. There was both a coffee and sandwich menu available. We ordered an Americano and a cooling iced latte. There were some tables available near the service counter as well as some tables outside in the Burlington arcade itself. It was close to lunch so it was starting to get busy. I ordered one of their popular Chipotle bacon sandwiches to go. I was asked some questions about condiments that I preferred. The sandwich was incredible and a great value. Enjoyed the second half the next day and still tasted great. Great service, look forward to trying other of their popular sandwiches.

Excellent sandwich, highly recommended. This is a 2nd edit: We are back to Pasadena on June 11, 2024 again to attend the commencement on June 14. It is a very exciting experience to come back to Float again that my son likes most when he was here during summer of 2019. The food is the same high quality and excellent taste.

Float is a Pasadena staple in the lovely Burlington Arcade. The environment is pretty and inviting, good to catch up with friends or meet someone over lunch, soda, coffee/tea, or ice cream. Their menu has a good mix of sandwiches, drinks, and treats. The caprese I had was straightforward and tasty, iced tea refreshing and tart. I recommend a visit!

Float is a niche sandwich and ice cream float shop in an outdoor mall in South Pasadena. The area is cute and spacious to sit in. The actual establishment itself is small but inviting. They make excellent sandwiches, but be sure to order before the kitchen closes. They also specialize in floats, hence the name. If you are feeling game, pick the Float's choice, where you pick the root beer or cream Soda of your choice, and they do the rest. It was an accident finding the place, but sometimes accidents can make for the best finds.

Walked in with a smile and said Hi to the cashier, didnt say Hello back and treated me as an inconvenience! Then kinda tossed the coffee i ordered on the counter. I wanted to try the sandwiches too but decided not to because of her attitude. No idea what i did to offend her when i walked in but wont be going back

Fresh pastries, and hot beverage. Deliciously made hot chai tea. The owner has a great sense of humor. I had to purchase one of the awesome sauces to take home. They do have free WiFi. This cafe is small but a lot to offer. Light music is playing while I enjoyed my drink and pastries. The first 90 minutes is free parking. They’re is a lot of outdoor parking.

I ordered a latte, and while it was nice, the coffee tasted very light—even though it had two shots.

Quiet Lunch spot, wheelchair accessible, good for all ages, great coffee, delicious sandwiches, easy to Park area. I highly recommend this place. I had a sandwich called the Italian float and it was very good. I also had a chai latte that was iced and I had an iced vanilla latte, both were very good and very well made. I'm very picky about my coffee and I thought this was very good. Not too acidic like Starbucks.

Ginger And Spice Noodle & Grill is a cozy counter-serve cafe offering a variety of Vietnamese fare, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and breakfast options. The restaurant has its roots in the Iskenderian family's Mediterranean food business in Beirut, Lebanon since 1962 and has been serving classic dishes in California for decades. With locations in Glendale and Pasadena, among others, it has become a neighborhood favorite.
We stopped by Ginger Spice and Noodle after a fun morning right next door at the Southern California Children’s Museum — and it was exactly what we needed! The staff was kind and welcoming, even with two slightly tired, slightly wild kiddos in tow. The food came out quickly, which we really appreciated, and everything was delicious. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and casual — a great little escape after the energy of the museum. It’s rare to find a spot that works so well for both adults and kids, but this one nailed it. Definitely adding Ginger Spice and Noodle to our list of go-to places whenever we’re in Pasadena. Bonus points for being just steps away from the museum entrance!

First off, this place needs a serious cleaning. Floors are sticky, seats are torn, dust everywhere! Everything white is dirty. Food was meh. I ordered pork chops poate and what they brought me was 1 thin porkchop. They sliced it up without my permission to spread it out and make it look like a lot. Totally not worth the money and the flavors were ok. Nothing special to make me return and spend over$30. Be

This is a hidden gem for those who love a little kick in their meals. I tried their hot chicken wings, and they did not disappoint. The spice level was just right – enough heat to get your taste buds tingling without overpowering the flavors. It’s a small, no-frills spot, but the food is so good.

I love this place. Feels like a family owned business, so we try to support them whenever we are in town. My go to is a custom vermicelli bowl, or veggie pho if it’s colder out. Love the food, and friendly service. Oh, and you’ll know you found the right spot, because the essence of their pho broth will be wafting out the front door when you go by. Don’t skip it!

Pork Banh Mi was excellent. Spicy!!! Bigger than I thought it would be. Getting that and side of chips for $12… might as well go here than support the people that are killing you at subway. Beef Pho was very flavorful. Good for a cold day. Egg rolls were crispy and hot. This is a good place. Curious about the spaghetti they have listed on the menu… I won’t try it.

Found this place while strolling Pasadena on a Saturday. It is family owned and the owners are very nice, service is fast too. Decided to dine in and ordered pho, fried rice, shrimp spring rolls, and the mango boba tea. The pho was delicious, it has a good authentic flavor and could feed 2 people. The spring rolls were okay, not bad not extra food. But they were nice and fresh. The peanut sauce that came with it is amazingly good. It has a tiny spicy kick to it. The mango boba tea was good as well. The chicken fried rice is a good huge portion. Definitely will be coming back.

Boiling Point Concept is a delightful counter-serve chain that specializes in Pan-Asian hot-pot soups, offering a chic and relaxed dining atmosphere. Guests can customize their experience by selecting from an array of flavors, meats, and vegetables to create the perfect hot pot. The seafood and Angus beef are popular choices among patrons, while others enjoy the option of lamb or adding noodles for extra texture.
I like how the tables here turn over fast, compared to other restaurants nearby. People come in, order goes in fast, food comes out, people eat, and leave. Food is good, their fiber jelly at the end is a good touch, the restroom is clean. The workers here are very nice and they pay attention to their customer's needs. They refill the water, and the broth even before you ask them.

Decent pre-prepared hot pot. But the service was sporadic which left a strange atmosphere. A lot of people looking for the service team. Would recommend just going across the street to Chong Qing YaoMei Hotpot for a better time.

My favorite place for late dinner or lunch. *I wish the meal looked great and beautiful like the graphic photos in the menu and posters. In general, I always have had great experiences here in terms of service and taste of the food and drink.

TERRIBLE MAINTENANCE, TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE EVERYTHING. I can’t believe what happened when I walked into this restaurant today. I arrived at 2:45, placed my order immediately, and was told there was no rice. When I asked how long it would take, they said 30 minutes. That was already unreasonable, but since I was there, I decided to wait. After waiting 20 minutes, the waiter came back and told me it would be just 10 more minutes. Then, after waiting a full 30 minutes, the waiter returned again only to say the rice was still sitting in water because the worker FORGOT TO TURN THE RICE COOKER ON. Absolutely unacceptable. Never coming back.
Elise L — Google review
Glad I went there went they weren’t busy. The tables are so close together. I hate having to listen to someone else’s conversation or talk over them. The food was tasty, although the amount of meat included was less than I expected. When it comes to hot pot, I prefer a “build your own” option. The highlight for me were the desserts, reminiscent of my childhood. I understand why people still like this place, but I prefer to go down to Alhambra or El Monte.
J C — Google review
The quality of the meat is questionable. They got both our orders wrong. Charged dinner prices during lunch hours. Bathroom was filthy. Parking is difficult. Anthony our server is why they are getting 2 stars. He was friendly, attentive and hard working. I'm sure there are better places. I did like the individual hotpot since I'm a germ phobe.

This is a chain Taiwanese hot soup restaurant that serves various Asian inspired flavors. It’s best to dine on a cold day since the soup stays super hot from the burner. The portions were generous but the broth was lacking in flavor and the brown rice was mushy. The service was fast and efficient.

If you're looking to add a sweet twist to your Pasadena adventure, Miss Cheese Tea Cafe is the perfect late-night destination. This charming cafe specializes in hand-crafted desserts and beverages that are sure to satisfy any dessert lover's cravings. While their decadent milk teas and delightful Taiwanese drinks are popular, the real highlight here is their airy souffles, which come in various flavors like mango and Nutella.
Cute tea place. Came here twice while I was visiting LA. I ordered their grapefruit tea soda to just try and wasn't the biggest fan of it. I'm sure their other drinks are better. But I really enjoyed their souffle pancakes on my second visit. They were nice and fluffy. The one caveat is it takes a while to make, so my boyfriend and I didn't get our orders together. It took a while to get the second order so we shared the first one while we waited for the second. The environment is pretty nice, and they have some fun games you can play while you visit.
Jamie L — Google review
I tried their royal milk tea with boba and popcorn chicken. Unfortunately both items were mediocre at best. The milk tea tasted watered down from the first sip and although the boba was chewy, it lacked flavor. The popcorn chicken tasted ok by itself, like it was lacking seasoning; eating it with the sweet chili sauce made it better. The cafe inside is quite large and the atmosphere is nice since customers can play games at their tables. I’m not sure if I’d visit again as there are better options around the area.

This was our first time having Japanese souffle pancakes outside of Japan so we were excited to see what we could get here in Southern California after a pretty amazing experience in Kyoto a few years back. Generally speaking, the food was good in a kind of okay atmosphere. They were out of a bunch of things on their menu (including Japanese Omelet and the Air Fried Plant-Based Popcorn Chicken Bowl) which we were really excited about trying...and glancing at the menu today a few weeks after our visit I see these items are still listed as "out of stock." In fact, their menu has 11 items listed that are "out of stock" so maybe they never really have them and should just take them off the menu to not disappoint folks hoping for some of these uniquely Japanese offerings they list. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired...it's a small space with some cute things to do (like a little pool table) but it does feel a little run down and a bit of a departure from the "clean and cute" vibe you'd expect from a place bringing you Japanese culture. Also, the staff (who may also be the owners) seemed unhappy...never a smile or any kind of indication they were happy you were there. Despite all that the food came out quicker than expected and it was all good. The souffle pancakes were, of course, the star...they may not have been as beautifully presented as what we had in Kyoto, but they tasted good and were VERY fluffy. I thought the Ooling Cheese Foam Tea was good and reminiscent of what I've had at other Japanese-style (yet sans fluffy pancake) bakeries around town. We don't live in Pasadena so probably wouldn't make another special trip to have this and we definitely wish they had more of the "out of stock" items that still exist on their menu...but if you're nearby, and you've never had Japanese souffle pancakes, it's worth stopping in.

First time at Miss Cheese and I ordered a brown sugar dirty milk w boba (that wasn't very sweet but drinkable). They also forgot to put the boba in the drink but quickly added boba once i asked. My wife orderd a Oreo Matcha Milk Tea and said "it could be better" (based on all other times she's gotten the drink at other places) Food wise we ordered a small popcorn chicken and boy is it small. 8090 in arcadia gives you much larger portions for a dollar more (although no air fry options). Tastes okay and there are different seasonings available as an add-on. Also ordered a smoked salmon w egg cheesy rice waffle. Wife said "it's so so. The waffle is a little too crunchy on the outside but the sauce is very good as well as the salmon". The taiyaki was great. On par with Koko roll in LC or With Love, in Alhambra (by bopo). Food takes 15 to 20 minutes to come out. There's so much to do. Books to read, games to play, street fighter 2, and wifi + plenty of seating. There is also a single use restroom. I'm not saying don't come here but unless you really really really want souffle or a place to cool off in the AC & play uno before catching the metro...just go to TeaSpots by PCC (or one of the other 4 boba joints next to it). If you only want a drink, just go to TPumps.
Montrell T — Google review
This place was delicious, the milk tea & boba were good and we also had fish waffles in Nutella as well as pizza flavor. Additionally we had the strawberry soufflé & the chocolate lava soufflé. The soufflés were amazing super soft & fluffy. Not too sweet but just the right amount of sweetness. The one thing I wasn’t expecting was the total of $65.00 for these items. That did catch me a bit off guard.
Roxana S — Google review
Drinks and desserts were good. Staff were all nice, a bit pricey though compared to other tea/dessert places but worth it. Upon our return, we saw that they added some fun stuff for patrons to play with like game boards, mini pool table, books to read, electronic games, etc. The only thing is, the place doesn't smell as fresh as before. It feels like when you leave, your clothes will smell like some of the fried food that they offer.
Æbîlēne H — Google review
I've been wanting to try this place for so long. The pictures all look so amazing. I ordered the chocolate banana souffle. Let me first say it was very good. But I didn't realize just how light and airy the souffle is. It's so fluffy that it almost disappears when paired with something as dense as a banana. I think next time I would try the Nutella and hope for more balance in the dish. The store itself is very nice and clean. You will have to wait quite a long time for a souffle if that is what you are there for.
John K — Google review
Overall, I’d give this place a 3. Only because all the soufflés were undercooked and it took an hour for everything! I had ordered the Matcha Lover, which had tasted nice but the middle was just a no, because it tasted like egg batter it was quite mushy too. The pancakes came with barely enough Matcha sauce, I was just eating pancakes… I could’ve went to McDonald's and got a couple of hotcakes. Honestly, It is overpriced we spent $180 for only 5 people! Why are pancakes $20? They should only be $15 tops. I was looking forward to this, we drove for an hour and 15 minutes. Totally not worth it. I’d say the games had taken some time off and the atmosphere was cute and fun. If you were looking for a better café with delectable food, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you like undercooked pancakes and have extra time to wait around.

Guests can savor delectable breakfast tacos or anytime tacos made with their signature house-made flour tortillas. The Frito Pie in a Bag is a popular choice, complemented by an array of refreshing alcohol-free cocktails alongside the booze menu.
Stopped by HomeState in Highland Park and really enjoyed the experience. We tried the chips & queso, the Fort Worth, Pantera, and Tijuana tacos—all delicious and packed with flavor. The atmosphere was great, and the service was excellent; the staff was welcoming and attentive throughout. I ordered the Cookie Milk Iced Coffee, which unfortunately wasn’t my favorite. But the team handled it wonderfully—they immediately offered to swap it out for another drink or give me a refund. That kind of kindness and professionalism goes a long way. Overall, a really good spot for Tex-Mex with friendly service and a laid-back vibe. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Highland Park!

I tried their new beef taco, as well as the chicken, potato, and brisket. I really wish that I can say they are great, but I cant tell. I received my order after 20 mins, after I asked about my order, and it turns out my order was sitting on the counter for a bit. The tacos where soggy and just slightly warmed. It made the experience, a bad one. The flavors are there, Im sure if my order would have been given to me at the correct time they would have been good.

Yeah, it’s pricey as others have said. But good value, tacos are meaty, drinks are strong, service is fast and accommodating. You can buy 3 tacos somewhere else for the price of one here, but the one here is thick and you only need one. Same with the Margs, one and you’ll catch a buzz. You don’t need 3 surgery lemonades like other places to reach your happy state. Food, drinks, service is consistent and when it’s not any comment or complaint I’ve ever had is rectified immediately and professionally. That’s all a customer wants, value, consistency and issues addressed. Home state delivers. I think the HLP one does it better than most, the staff there is aces and the patio is a good hang.

The tacos and food are tasty and made fast. The hibiscus limeade is $5 but free refills. And it tastes very good. The brisket is quality meat (not fatty) and shredded so easy to eat on the taco or brisket loaded queso ($10) w chips. I wish the loaded queso w brisket were more filled with pico de gallo bc it was mostly cheese and a little brisket. The tacos are good especially bc the homemade flour tortilla is very good (chewy and toasted w butter). Seating is convenient on picnic tables. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Great vibe and lots of Vegan options. Street parking only. The place is super close to highland bowling in the same side. Love that they give you drinks and water in glass cups. Oh and their homemade tortillas are also sold in a bag for $8.

Chicken & Brisket Taco + Modelo for $20+ is ugly. Tacos were bomb. Price could be cheaper. It's bittersweet honeslty. I trust the cooks because they're my people (Latino/Latina) pero price wise too much. Not bad for Tex Mex but could be better as far portion size which was weak. Like if I'm paying 5 or 6 bucks for 1 taco hook that shit up. Overall 7.1 out of 10.

Los California Tacos is a popular taco truck located in Pasadena, known for its delicious and budget-friendly tacos that keep customers returning. The menu offers a variety of flavorful meat options such as Asada and Al Pastor, served with quick and friendly service. This late-night spot has been a favorite since 1979, offering an array of proteins including beef tongue and head, with the al pastor being a consistent crowd-pleaser.
This was the whittest taco place i ever been in, but it didnt dissapoint. This was my first time coming to this spot after dancing. I got some cabeza tacos, and even though the tacos look pale, the flavor was elite. Not a lot of taco trucks know how to cook the cabeza well. But this spot is definitely a favorite. Theres no seats, and tables, that was one only complaint, but I highly recommend them.

Good flavor. Fast service. Very small street tacos..two bites and it's gone. I am not exaggerating about that two bites thing. So if you are down for a $1.25 a bite then this $2.50 a taco is for you. I left hungry and went to Tops for a burger and the best fries around.

This is probably one of the best 🌮 taco I have had in this neighborhood. The price, the food, the staff. All ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tony W — Google review
My first visit here two weeks ago was good. Ordered a sampling of five different tacos for the family served on plates. The staff was really attentive with two windows open and each pair serving food ans handling transactions. The tacos were good although the sauce had begun to soak through the tacos by the time I was working through them making it into a delightful mess. My second visit here unfortunately wasn't that great. One window was opened serving food while the second window handled the payment in cash. The tacos were wrapped in foil and by the time I got home, the corn tortillas had started to break apart making it very difficult to enjoy. With a large orders of 21 tacos, I was expecting a better meal with the family. I found the meats to be much drier on this visit and the quality of the meats not so good. So maybe I'll have to give this some more thought on my next street tacos cravings.

The food was delicious!! Wouldn’t have expected it from a coffee shop, but one of the best breakfast spots I’ve been to in a while. To be fair - cold brew here is pretty solid and I’ve visited many times before but just had a hilarious interaction that will make me think twice about returning. Ordered a black cold brew with no ice because I have an early flight and wanted quality am coffee. Person at register told me it wouldn’t be filled to the top. Hm… how weird… but fair warning I guess. Tipped her a buck and moved to the counter. I get my coffee and it’s barely half full… and I’m an optimist! Lol, I thought she meant… maybe an inch of room at the top… but hard line at half full. Asked for clarification and while the baristas were super polite and friendly, even offering to fill it up the rest of the way for an additional $1.75 my flabbers were gasted. Lol? This is $5.50 worth of coffee apparently typically crammed with lots of ice. Here’s the thing, I would have spent way more money over my lifespan there than the 15 cents worth of product they would have lost out on by filling that to the top. What a silly hill to die on. Can’t speak to anything else at Civil but I can tell you that when superior choices like Kindness and Mischief or Jane are available in the neighborhood, there’s no reason to come here for cold brew.

Really disappointed to find out this place doesn’t have WIFI?! Drove 15 min to get here, took forever to find parking, order my $8 Matcha, I pull out my work items and computer and I find out NO WIFI! Really?! 2025? Definitely won’t be back. The staff was really friendly though and the space is great. But whose idea was No WiFi?

really delicious coffee and great outdoor seating area. inside area is definitely geared more as a work space. their food looked good too, but did not try

Very cute , cleanly, friendly coffee shop. I loved the mission statement at the entrance made me want to come in. We ordered the Figueroa and a vanilla cold brew and chocolate croissant. The coffee was good and if you’re a huge coffee fan you’d like it.

Tea house
Cafe
Coffee shop
Nestled in Pasadena, California, Motto Tea Cafe is a modern teahouse offering a chic and relaxed space to enjoy hot drinks, boba, and Japanese soufflé pancakes. The cafe's location on the edge of Old Pasadena makes it a convenient stop for visitors heading to the nearby convention center. Known for its genuine and natural ingredients, Motto Tea Cafe is popular for its fan-favorite dish - the Motto Boba Souffle Pancakes.
The ordering from a screen is a little annoying. Having to pay a tip before getting and experiencing your meal etc is annoying. When it asks you what is your table number, there is a tray for them in between the order machines. Your order number they call out is different than your table number. Nice quality cups, the taro milk tastes just like milk and isn't mixing as I rotate the cup, had to open and stir it, still not too flavorful and just okay The Oolong Tea was very good. The cake was good. The 🥞 pancakes🥞 were AMAZING.

Finally had the opportunity to try Motto Tea Cafe. We had the mango matcha drink and mango Souffle Pancakes. The place has nice covered outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. You have to use the kiosks to place your order which was pretty easy and had plenty of options. They made our drink pretty fast. The Souffle Pancakes took about 30 minutes since they are freshly made which is typical for this dish. I appreciate that they had a sign advising of the wait time. The cups used at many of these types of places for these drinks are cleverly designed to be tall and concaved to make it look like you are getting a really huge drink...which you are not. I added an entire tiny cup of water when we were about 75% done and it filled it up more than half way. Don't get me wrong, the drink was absolutely delicious and looked amazing! The Mango Souffle Pancakes were delicious as well. The white sauce was not sweet but creamy. The mango sauce and fruit added the right amount of sweetness and the drink more than satisfied our sweetness cravings. Overall great experience.

Very skip-able. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. I thought it was odd that a pancake place isn’t open for breakfast. The flavour of the pancakes was overly eggy. The service was lacklustre (eg you tip for service but when they bring you the dish you have to get silverware yourself?). The Nutella mouse was good and boba is great!
Laura I — Google review
We ordered original and crème brûlée pancakes, cheese coffee and some boba drink. The while experience was average. The crème brûlée pancakes were yummier than the other things. I’d say try it but nothing exceptional.
Sandy V — Google review
Tasty souffle pancakes and delicious drinks We got it during their happy hour, so we got a few dollars off Also, keep in mind that the souffle takes a while to get it served. Since it is fleshy made, it takes a bit. The wait didn't disappoint, though, They do have a really good variety of drinks with boba, so I definitely recommend it specially during a hot summer
Juan B — Google review
My friend and I just finished Catcon and found this delicious place to go for brunch. I got the mango soufflé pancake and my friend got the crème brûlée pancake. Very light and fluffy. I recommend trying the white peach lemon jasmine bliss.
Violet M — Google review
So soft and delicious! It takes a bit of time to prepare, but it’s definitely worth the wait. I had the cream pancakes and they were absolutely amazing. Highly recommended!

We love Boba and Japanese Soufflé and can attest this stuff is legit. The best Japan/Taiwan level bobaflé in LA!!!

Sandwich shop
Coffee shop
Restaurant
Fiore Market Cafe is a small, eclectic cafe with a small front garden and weekly live jazz. The cafe is inspired by the slow pace and locally-grown food of Italy, and their bread baking classes are a classic. The sandwiches and salads are great, but the side salad is disappointing.
Look no more for the best gourmet sandwiches in LA. Homemade and loaded of real ingredients. Its noticeable that they spent hours in the kitchen preparing and cooking for us to enjoy their food. From early in the morning when they bake their fantastic sourdough loaves and pastries. Those 20 minutes when the food is being craft to order, seem eternity to who has ate here before. Especially knowing that what you are going to get, is the same that you remember eating before.
Nicolás T — Google review
Their turkey sandwich with house-baked bread is legendary for a reason. The bread is warm, salty, and slightly chewy—basically a blanket for roasted turkey. The garden patio is shaded and quiet even at lunch rush. They sell loaves to go, but they sell out, so come early. Service is relaxed but attentive

I have loved this little spot for more than a decade and have missed it since moving away from California but it was a number one on my list of places to come on a visit back. The quality has remained the same, and it did not disappoint! I went with my go-to short rib sandwich and it was all I remembered it to be! My tummy and tongue are so happy ❤️

Food: 8.1/10 (Sooo good. I dream about that sandwich) Service: 8/10 (Memorable!) Atmosphere: 6.8/10 (Right off a busy road but otherwise charming) Coffee: 7.2/10 (Lavender Iced Latte) I literally dream of that sandwich often. I am not always able to get down to Fiore for a nice sit-down sandwich, but I always want to. The coffee was really good too. Please go and try a sandwich, it may change your life.
Christopher V — Google review
I neglected to get a pic of my sandwich before which will speak for its self. My only complaint is that for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks it was $52. Was it a delicious sandwich, absolutely.
Anthony M — Google review
We ordered the Asian chicken salad, ice tea, and it came with their home baked bread and we ate in their patio. Delicious! So, I ordered to go too.
V. M — Google review
Very fresh tasting ingredients, prompt service calming atmosphere to sit and have a great lunch. Full size sandwiches are a generous portion
Laura P — Google review
Great cafe for all things bread and chicken. The bread is homemade and quite good. The chicken is also roasted on site and used in a variety of dishes. I'd highly recommend any of their sandwiches or chicken dishes because of this.

Europane Bakery offers a delightful selection of French-inspired sandwiches, salads, and breakfast favorites, as well as an array of baked goods. The bakery provides communal seating for guests to enjoy their meals. Customers can also take advantage of the outdoor dining space when weather permits. Additionally, Europane Bakery is known for its generous portion sizes and delicious pastries and sandwiches. Guests can indulge in savory muffins with hard-boiled eggs at the center or opt for the popular open-faced egg salad sandwiches.
Staff friendly and nice. Location convenient and bakery clean and welcoming. Wish French bread was better. Had sandwich on Fr bread and found the crust to be hard & touch, difficult to bite into...not crispy crust with soft interior than I am use to. Bought a loaf of brioche and a couple of pastries to try Will update review once we have tasted them.

Iced americano w oat milk was perfect! Unfortunately everything else was not. We waited 30 minutes for their bacon wrap, cup of black bean soup and a tuna melt. Had to ask waitperson for an update since we saw others getting their food. She was kind, apologized and said chef was new so he’s slow. Yet, those that ordered after us received their food (much more food than our order) quickly within 5 minutes after sitting down. :/ $10 Bacon wrap was a fluffy but overcooked egg omelette, and pieces of bacon. $15 Combo of sandwich and soup: Black bean soup pureed smooth but not flavorful. Tuna melt on sourdough, dry Space was clean, casual vibe, sat outside in patio for cool breeze. Indoor dining was quiet but stuffy and warm. Best thing was the iced americano, hence the 3 stars.
Sherri M — Google review
Cute place. Quiet. Warm in the window table area. Coffee is really flavorful. There are dairy and sweetener options, lots of yummy looking foods. A little pricey when you add the dairy alternatives. The staff is friendly and the decor is really beautiful.

One bagel costs more than the bag they bought it for- an extra dollar for cream cheese. Not good service, takes forever. One wants to support local businesses but the quality and experience is so lacking. Why is everything so expensive and bad
Allison B — Google review
I was in town for a convention looking for a quick breakfast and this place was pretty solid! Got a nice quiche lorraine w side salad and a strawberry lemonade. Love how close it is to the convention center and quick service too.
Jennifer R — Google review
Went biking and needed lunch. Decided to try this place out (heard a lot about it and had their macarons before). There is a bike rack that held about 4 bikes. The outdoor dining space looks nice (but it was too hot for today’s weather) but we ate inside the nice AC room. If you order more than $20, you get a free 12oz coffee. Ordered the chorizo burrito and Mediterranean chicken sandwich with tomato soup. The chorizo burrito was good but wished they had more than Chulula hot sauce. The chicken sandwich had great flavor and wasn’t dry at all! The orange wedge was a good extra. After eating, you leave the dishes in a bin near the door. It’s a nice environment and great for studying or working. Would come back!
Jessica Y — Google review
This place is absolutely fabulous - I would give it six stars if I could! They are obviously taking great care in the food they prepare - everything was delicious, from the pastries we tried to the breakfast sandwich. The place itself was spacious and full of light. Nice coffee too.
Fabien M — Google review
I was looking for a great coffee spot and remembered going here in the past. I ordered a hot latte with almond milk and it was on point. Perfect temperature and just the right amount of coffee flavor. I nice cup of Joe to start the day. I’d definitely come back here and try their other menu items including their food offerings. Parking is limited to street.
