Nestled in the charming historic district of Old Sacramento, The Underground Tasting Room offers a delightful escape for wine enthusiasts and casual sippers alike. This multi-winery tasting venue showcases the exceptional offerings from Twisted Twig Winery and Fenton Herriott Vineyards, both celebrated names in El Dorado County winemaking. Owners Chuck and Yvette create a warm atmosphere that invites guests to explore an impressive selection of wines while indulging in gourmet foods and custom gift baskets.
Awesome tasting room value if you buy a bottle. Wines are from now from Fenton Herriott, which I heard is a change. Out of the 5 I tried: the Meritage was the most complex, the Ruby Syrah was the smoothest dessert wine, and the Jane Way was the best "mid-afternoon" standalone fruity wine for a broad audience and what we ended up purchasing a bottle of.
David P — Google review
Absolutely loved the knowledgeable staff! Every single drop was incredible, so wonderful we joined their club.
Mega H — Google review
The weather was warm when we were in town so this was a nice break from the heat. Great selections of wine.
Russell P — Google review
The prices of the wines offered here are quite pricey. However they offer splendid varietals and blends. It costs $12.50 for 7 wines to taste mix and match. $5 OFF if you buy a bottle. The server manager was quite knowledgeable and nice. I liked the Zinfandel and Cab Franc the best both 2015 vintage. They have food available if you reserve ahead.

First time here. My friend and I went before valentines day. Had cute decor set up for the occasion. The wines were okay. Only thing that had me give two stars was the locks to the men's and women's bathroom were broken so anyone could of walked in on anyone. Luckily my friend was with me. For this reason I most likely won't be coming back.
Laura G — Google review
I have an update about the tasting room… I joined or I thought I did. Come to find out the young man that took our membership, left the job… So me and a few other people were never members. So when I didn’t get an email nor a text nor nothing in the mail, I went up to the tasting room 2 weeks in a row, no one was there, and then I called, to be told someone would get back to me and they never did. I am now glad I did not become a member, because it looks like they have to find someone willing to stay and work that area. It is still a cool spot to sit with a friend or a book and have a glass of wine. I still went and had a glass of wine, and bought a bottle to go…
Diane O — Google review
Fabulous experience! Owners Chuck and Yvette are very gracious hosts. This is an adorable little tasting room on a lower level of Old Sacramento. It has the brick and old oak look of the Gold Rush era, with the refinement of a Napa winery. Fascinating and tasty gift jams and cheeses adorn the surroundings. The tasting bar is cozy and comfortable, and the Twisted Twig wine is wonderful. My wife and I favored the Petite Syrah. My wife does not like wine but she loved this vintage! If your ever in the Old Sacramento area do yourself a favor and visit this place, and tell them Patrick sent you :-)
Patrick P — Google review
Had a wonderful tasting with Evette. Had 7 different wines and left with 4 bottles purchased. Both wineries had super unique styles and my favorite was Petite Syrah. Absolutely worth it!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Sacramento, Bailarin Cellars Winery & Tasting Room is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts. Since relocating to downtown in December 2018, this charming winery has become a go-to spot for sampling exquisite wines crafted from Sonoma County grapes. Specializing in small-lot Russian River Pinot Noir, Bailarin offers an impressive selection that includes award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Syrah.
Nice way to escape a hot summer day. Spacious and cool inside with a calming affect that contrasts the sights and sounds of often noisy Downton K Street. Sunset Sips Wednesday promotion was a delight and happy hour half off select glasses on Wednesday and Thursday is a nice addition. Hope to return with friends in tow.

Basic. Was let down as ratings was great. Staff friendly, and no hard sell. Chocolate flight is a novelty but at least offered some flavour. Grapes from interesting parcels. Ok prices for a flight.

I came here for my bday. 3/14. Made reservations but it was a rainy day wasn’t too busy. Great service the blonde lady attended to us. I ordered the wine flights & mix plate. They have an array of wines. I chose the red wines. Lovely place & the atmosphere was dark & nice for a rainy day.
Cristal E — Google review
Came here with my friend for a girls day had had a great first time experience. They explained the wines very well and answered questions we had. Such a hot day but very relaxing. Their charcuterie was great. Love the little jars of jam!
Laura G — Google review
Bailarin is by far the best wine in Sacramento. Their wine maker does great work and makes their wine in a traditional French style that you would see in the region of Burgandy. They have a great variety of Pinot Noir which is their bread and butter. I signed up for the membership because it was so easy and no sign up fee. The membership will likely cost me $150 2 times a year (April and October shipments). The tasting room as beautiful as well and has a great ambience with pleasant staff, that are very knowledgeable. It’s a great entertainment space and when I asked about having a party there they were more than welcome to host something for me and my friends. They even said they have a private party room downstairs. They also told me that they are starting a new wine and cheese pairing event but immediately caught my interest and will definitely have to check out in the future. They also have a espresso bar (delicious espresso) and made hot chocolate for kids.
Tim H — Google review
Cynthia & Neil were fantastic! I felt welcome immediately when I arrived. Being on a business trip, it felt like a wine tour without having to travel outside of the city to get it. They shared a lot of info about their local wine. Absolutely stellar wine flight with their mixed board!
Nathan W — Google review
I'm from the Atlanta area, and was out in Sacramento on a business trip. I was lucky enough to get brought to here by a local who knew one of the owners before it was even open to the public. I was very impressed with the exposed brick wall design that contrasted well with the silver bar. Oh, and the wine was delicious tasting was a perfect way to get the night started before going to a Kings game (my favorite was the 2014 Suacci Pinot)! Can't wait to go back when they have the full food menu available too, plus see how it has evolved once it is fully open and operational!

Joined as a member about a year ago and love all the benefits. Great staff and is always my go to place before going to the Kings game.

During my recent visit to Lucid Winery & Event Venue, I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful staff members, including Michael, Jerome, and Kevin. The experience was enriched by a knowledgeable guide who helped us appreciate the tasting notes of their delightful wines. Kevin, one of the owners, even took time to engage with guests in a fun and creative way.
Jerome is amazing. What a great place with wine on tap in abundance. We were able to go in and do a tasting and just connect to the place and the area by trying a winery that’s based in Sacramento and allows you to experience California. Definitely worth the visit especially with mead on the menu 😊

From the moment we stepped into "The Library" at Lucid Winery in Sacramento, we knew we had found the ideal setting for my graduation party. And what makes this even more remarkable? I booked the venue sight unseen! It was a leap of faith that paid off in the most wonderful way, exceeding all expectations and making for an unforgettable celebration. The ambiance of The Library was captivating. There were lots of antique books, with natural light from the skylights; it felt both elegant and inviting. The intellectual charm provided the perfect backdrop for guests to mingle, celebrate, and create lasting memories. It offered a unique and sophisticated atmosphere that truly elevated the entire event, and I was so relieved and delighted that it was even more beautiful in person than I had imagined. What truly set Lucid Winery apart was the exceptional staff. From the initial planning stages to the last guest departing, their friendliness, kindness, and attentiveness were simply outstanding. They went above and beyond to cater to every single guest's needs, anticipating requests and ensuring everyone felt comfortable and well-cared for. Whether it was ensuring drinks were flowing, assisting with any setup, or simply offering a warm smile and helpful hand, the team at Lucid Winery made us feel like truly valued guests. Their dedication made the entire party seamless and stress-free, allowing me to fully enjoy my special day with loved ones. Considering I hadn't seen the space before the event, their proactive and supportive approach made all the difference. I'll definitely be back to Lucid Winery, not just for future events, but to explore their wine selection and soak in the wonderful ambiance again. The positive energy and great service made such a strong impression, and I can't wait to return and experience more of what this gem in Sacramento has to offer. Thank you, Lucid Winery, for a truly magical graduation celebration – you made my "sight unseen" gamble a resounding success!

Absolutely loved Chef Mat and his passion for food and history. His enthusiastic energy really makes the class. Making gyoza seemed so intimidating, but Chef Mat made it so easy and reassuring to a home cook and they were delicious!

Lucid is a "must see" if you are in Sacramento! Jerome is a masterful host/ guide to a one-of-a- kind wine tasting experience. He curates the tasting to the individual and not only explains the wines, but narrates the story of Lucid for which the customer is the key ingredient. The space is large and funky-- filled with books, records, plants and other curiosities. There are numerous comfortably arranged tables that hold numerous diverse events according to Jerome. Walking into Lucid, you feel the comfortable community vibe that they have cultivated along with their delicious, interesting wine & "chaos" products!! We loved it all!

Cozy and beautiful set up. The type of place to sit in, have a cute social gathering & create some local memories. Safe atmosphere friendly culture and educated staff that made being here fun. My absolute recommendation wait they also had books to read or buy!! I’m a reader so I advocate for the people to tune out of these phone sometimes reading/watching social media post for hours try read a book or magazine in those times. Great Books, Great Wine, Great Time.
Trayvon C — Google review
I love this place! Their wine is delicious, and it's got a great chill vibe. They're open later than other wineries, so we were able to stop by one night after our event ended to keep our night going. Attended a fundraiser for a non-profit there recently -- they're generous with their support of local organizations. Highly recommend supporting this fabulous place!
Katie H — Google review
Lucid Winery is a total gem! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and so much fun. Ben was absolutely amazing — so knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience even better. The wines were incredible, each one unique and delicious. The wine slushies? Out of this world — seriously a must-try! And the sangria… wow, it was absolutely delicious and perfectly refreshing. If you’re looking for a fun, welcoming place with amazing drinks and great vibes, this is the spot. Can’t wait to come back! 🍷✨

As one of Sacramento’s Top Realtors, I recently hosted a client appreciation event at Lucid Winery in Midtown Sacramento - and I can confidently say the experience could not have been better. From start to finish, the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional, and they made sure everything ran smoothly. A special shout-out to Ben, our server for the evening, who went above and beyond. He not only ensured every one of my guests received top-tier service, but he also took the time to thoughtfully explain the incredible selection of wines Lucid offers. Speaking of wines - Lucid has an impressive and unique variety, from bold Merlots and Cabernets to rich dessert wines and even Mead sourced from local honey farmers. Every pour had a story, and every sip reflected quality and care. The vibe at Lucid Winery is relaxed, welcoming, and full of charm. The space itself is located in a beautiful, old-style brick building that’s filled with unique character and modern flair, making it the perfect backdrop for any gathering. Whether you’re planning a special event or just looking for a relaxing evening with great wine and even better company, I highly recommend Lucid Winery. It’s truly a unique and special place in the heart of Midtown Sacramento.

New American restaurant
The Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento offers elevated, seasonal American cuisine in a sophisticated setting with the option for outdoor seating. Guests have praised the exquisite food and professional, charming service. Meanwhile, Scotts Seafood on the River is a waterfront restaurant and wedding venue that boasts picturesque views of the Sacramento River. With numerous accolades and in-house catering services, it provides event spaces to create a dream wedding location tailored to your vision.
Service was great, drinks were great, food was good. The cesar salad was so good, the lobster mac and cheese was decadent and delicious. The tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly, mashed potatoes just needed a little more seasoning as well as the vegetables. The strawberry/pistachio tart was great way to end the meal.
Candi D — Google review
My girlfriend and I wandered in here and we are glad we did! Wonderful food, amazing atmosphere, and fantastic service defined our night out at The Firehouse. Very cool building with tons of history! We'll definitely be back when we are in town again!

I love photographing weddings at Firehouse in Old Sacramento! The moment you step into that romantic private courtyard, you just know it’s going to be a magical night. It gives so much privacy and can make even a larger event feel intimate. The historic charm of the venue gives every photo so much character, and being just steps away from so many gorgeous spots in Old Sacramento makes getting beautiful shots a total breeze. And can we talk about the food? Seriously, it’s amazing...guests (and photographers!) are always raving. The Firehouse team is fantastic, making the day feel effortless, fun, and full of love. If you want a wedding that’s beautiful, delicious, and full of memories, this place is an absolute dream.

Fantastic time celebrating our anniversary here. All staff were incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive to my dietary restrictions. Food was great, and we went overboard on the amazing desserts! Will definitely be back for another special occasion. It feels like Italian time here… some length between courses so just be patient and enjoy your company and the meal as it arrives.

Absolutely wonderful, entire experience was amazing! Food was remarkable and the service was excellent. Very attentive, welcoming and informative about the menu with great suggestions. Food was rich in flavor and paired wonderfully with all the bold flavors. The atmosphere was very relaxing and calming a perfect place to enjoy great company and an excellent meal.

We really enjoyed our food and experience here. Server was on point. I forgot to ask his name. We ordered the Chilean sea bass & New York steak. The soufflé is a must try! Wife really likes the wine. I’m more of a 2 buck chuck kind of guy where I can’t taste the difference 🤣.
AyV U — Google review
This place was absolutely everything we hoped it would be. We tried the pork belly for an appetizer and it was wonderful. My wife had the Caprese salad and I think 16 oz aged ribeye. The portions are well worth the cost. The black garlic butter is a perfect compliment to the steak. The atmosphere is laid back but the wait staff and dining room are very formal. Our waiter James was very friendly, polite, smiled a lot and was a great help with our dining experience. We will be back for sure!
STEVEN S — Google review
Upscale restaurant with excellent service and atmosphere. Loved the appetizers and dessert the most. The souffle was the absolute best. People dress up but I saw some in semi regular clothes so no worries as long as you're not scuffed up, I reckon. This IS the kind of place where they put the napkin in your lap for you.

Restaurant
Ella Dining Room & Bar offers a refined dining experience with a focus on New American and French cuisine. The elegant and contemporary space includes a patio for outdoor dining. Known for popularizing bone marrow in Sacramento, the restaurant's crosscut marrow bones are roasted in a wood-fired oven until caramelized and served on hot salt, creating a luscious and sophisticated dish.
What a beautiful way to celebrate my 37th birthday! We were seated in a charming, cozy spot and taken care of by an incredible team--Martin, our server of the decade, and Shane, an amazing sommelier, made the experience unforgettable. The service was seamless; everything we needed was already at the table before we even had to ask. We were seated next to a lovely family, one of whom had previously worked there. They were celebrating her father Dane's 65th birthday and even generously shared a glass of 1990 Stags Leap with us! such a special moment of community and connection. It was my first time in Sacramento, visiting all the way from Milwaukee, and Ella's made it an unforgettable experience. Full of warmth, love, and incredible hospitality. Highly recommend!

Ella’s is one of those rare spots where comfort food meets refined cooking in the best possible way. The truffle risotto is pure decadence—rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of truffle aroma. It’s luxurious without being overwhelming, and every bite is deeply satisfying. Then there’s the fried chicken—crispy, golden, and incredibly juicy on the inside. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into the seasoning and execution; it’s easily some of the best fried chicken I’ve had anywhere. The wine list is small, but that’s part of the charm. It’s clearly curated with intention, offering thoughtful pairings that elevate the meal without overwhelming you with choices. Every bottle feels like it has a story—and the staff is more than happy to help guide you to the perfect match. Ella’s strikes a beautiful balance between approachable and elevated. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again.

There's a reason this place has high ratings. It's the real deal. The food was amazing! The staff was fantastic. We had a company outing here and they did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place and am certainly looking forward to eating here again.
Joseph S — Google review
My coworker comes here quite often, although she'd never been during Happy Hour, which is what we had gone for. It was my first time here, and I was pretty excited considering how much I've heard of this restaurant. We had ordered more than half of the Happy Hour menu options, which they have quite a large selection to choose from, and all of which were very delicious. I've attached the photos along with the dish name in the description so you can see how beautiful the presentation was for each option. The only thing I didn't much care for were the onion rings, as they were a pretty average option considering everything else we had eaten. My dessert of choice was a cocktail, which I tend to be a sucker for when one of the ingredients is chocolate liquor. The staff of the restaurant were both welcoming and attentive, as well as the valet staff being efficient and courteous. The only thing that was a little unpleasant was having to witness a physical altercation of some unhoused individuals while eating our meal. Although the surrounding environment may come across as off-putting, I would still come back for another meal for a special occasion.
Enmeth G — Google review
Ella is one of my favorite downtown restaurants. I had dinner here and everything we ordered was creative, seasoned well, and delicious. This time I decided to stop in just for Happy Hour. It was a bit Hectic as they were hosting another party in the bar area. After work this place fills up fast. The servers were busy busy this evening. The beef tartare was tender and so yummy, the oysters were on the high end for Happy Hour pricing but still was fresh and sweet, the Caesar salad the dressing was on point. My friend’s burger came out really late but my Manhattan was nicely chilled and smooth. Overall the food did not disappoint, the service was slow, the location was perfect for us but hard to find parking for some who are not from the area. Definitely a really good stop for a nice fancy dinner, or drinks at the bar and Happy Hour has many options on drinks and food. Don’t forget to follow me @Only1Christinelu

Made a reservation a couple weeks in advance and it went off without a hitch. Enjoyed our 1st anniversary dinner Best duck ever! In the notes for the reservation I had requested a special dessert. They came through with a special treat that made the night. Thanks to the great staff and crew at Ella for making our experience a great one.
Anthony T — Google review
This is a beautiful restaurant however the staff is poorly trained. Dishes were cleared awkwardly in an intrusive way while somehow being inattentive throughout the rest of the meal. The duck was seasoned and prepared well however the appetizers and other entrées were either underseasoned or severely over seasoned. Not quite the experience you would expect for a higher end restaurant.
Michael G — Google review
Santa Barbara Buck with Artisan Cheeses Sweet Corn Soup Tenderloin Hey Jupiter, an intriguing tequila piece, Honey Roasted Peach with pistachio ice cream and a dirty forty year old tawny which I think costs more than my hotel room. It is a little funny being a visitor and listening to local power leaders complain about Texas gerrymandering at the bar while they longingly approve of the same legislature's work to stop consumers' right to redress in courts. It's also funny to hear them complain about their board, interns they're forced to take on but who are unqualified, etc. The restaurant itself is fine. Hostess is a little extra despite not being ready to seat. Amelia at the bar was amazing, but it felt like she never had much individual time because they cut the cocktail server early so the bartenders could "make money." If you're cutting staff and then end up slammed - BTW it's a theatre opening night - so.eone made a staffing error. Kitchen was good. All the food was great, well prepared and presented. Unsure of how and when to recommend as I was surprised we cut staff before 6:00PM.

A standout dish is the veal sweetbreads, expertly prepared to creamy perfection and favored by local chefs. Since 1996, this fine-dining establishment has been a beloved fixture in Sacramento's dining scene. The menu features elegant dishes like scallops and duck confit ravioli as well as halibut with seasonal vegetables.
The food is excellent and affordable. Rosa was our server, and she is very friendly and efficient. Owner and culinary icon Rick Mahan came over and greeted us. It was a super birthday dinner.

This place is wonderful. I came here for date night with my husband tonight. All the servers/hostess were extremely friendly and polite. We had the herb fries, foccacia bread, duck and pasta special. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Even my espresso martini was delicious. It's a great date night or special occasion spot to come to. I'll be back for my birthday. Highly recommend!

Elegant and classy atmosphere as well as friendly and classy hostesses. The food was extremely pleasant, flavorful and filling. The wine selection was fabulous with the servers being very knowledgeable yet fun with the recommendations. A very great place for romance and romantic/special occasions. A little pricey but definitely made my visit special.

The food is so good here that if you learned there was better food out there you wouldn't care. This place has made me lose respect for the michelin star rating system because it's ridiculous that this restaurant with this level of consistency and quality has not gotten a nod. You're never guaranteed a good dish at any restaurant, but if you get a good one here, you'll probably remember it.

I wasn’t going to write a review until my husband was hit with the most violent food poisoning I’ve ever encountered… don’t worry I’ve added videos for clarification. The best part of this experience was the server and her amazing attitude. Very attentive wait staff. As for the food, it was not what I expected to say the very least. Oysters, good if you like overwhelming onion flavor. Potato gratin, tasted like it was from a box with Parmesan crusted on top. Steak tartare was the most balanced & best thing we had. Steak, so lemon-y and pink I was concerned if it would make my dog sick. Risotto, first time ever trying this and I couldn’t believe they would serve something so awful, it tasted like watery rice mixed with bad seafood. I’m not one to leave horrible reviews like this but after the hell my husband endured after eating at this restaurant, I feel obligated to tell the truth. It’s. Not. Worth. It. (Also, if you have a weak stomach don’t listen to the videos)
Karli — Google review
I have to say that overall, I had a positive experience at this place. You'll see from my pictures and the one video that the interior of the restaurant is pretty spectacular! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the decor chosen by the owners. I actually visited this place for the first time on a date in December 2023! So yes, this is an old review that I never got around to writing. With that idea in mind, I must be fully transparent and honest about my complete experience. The food left a little to be desired for my taste. :-( I'm being honest about that. After all, eating is probably the most important reason for visiting a restaurant, yes? I received an order of large pasta noodles with what appeared to be remnants of ground beef or sausage scattered about in the meal. In other words, and you'll see from my picture, there was barely any sauce or meat in the dish! That was unfortunate. I was mostly disappointed because of the price that my date and I paid for the meal! They are pricey as hell! LOL and frankly, I would not have minded the price that we paid if the portions had been larger. And that's the other issue: the portions are quite small at this place. Expect to spend a lot of money but not get much for what you pay for. That's the reality of it. I am always fully honest in my reviews, and this place, even with their high ratings, does not get the benefit of my lying to keep their reviews hi. I'm sorry. You're probably thinking to yourself, "If the food wasn't so great, why give them four stars?!" Well! That's easily answered: it's because of the customer service we received! Our server was very friendly. I gave him a note about the food that I ordered, and asked his opinion about the matter. I guess it was more of a complaint? My date had the same problem. The server basically explained to us that it was a standard measured amount for the proteins. It's how they did things! They literally measure out the amount of protein one receives, and that iscthat. Aside from that, the server was really fantastic. Also, there was another gentleman at the bar who gave us a free drink while we waited to be seated at our table. He was FANTASTIC!!! I had wished he could've been our server. We did have a reservation in advance. So, the decor, the customer service, and especially the cleanliness of the bathroom are the reasons to visit this establishment! I was quite surprised with how clean the restroom was. That's why they got four stars. If the food had been spectacular, I would have given them five stars! If you look at the breakdown of the star review I gave them, you'll see I gave them two stars for the food, but five stars for everything else. Will I visit this place again in the future?Hmmm, maybe or maybe not. I'm not sure, to be honest with you.

Really great dining on the patio. Was pet friendly and was offered a water bowl as well! Food was excellent. Especially enjoyed the Steak Tartare with the pastry! You'll have to find street parking for this, we were lucky to find one right at front.

The food was great. For the first time in a long time none of us were disappointed in our meal. Our server (Whitney) was very, very good. My youngest step-daughter even made a comment about how good the service was.

This restaurant has been there since the 1960's! It was our #1 favorite for atmosphere and service. My husband is from Italy and it surprised us both that our waiter was from Italy 🇮🇹 😄 And they were able to chat in Italian! So cool! Andrea was our waiter and he was the BEST! I recommend you request him! They have AUTHENTIC ITALIAN dishes. The seafood was amazing and the only way to have a pizza is woodfire oven! After eating AUTHENTIC Italian pizza you will never want to go back to American style!

Lovely ambience. Our server was pleasant, quick and courteous. Our group came on a Sunday night with reservations. They validate parking at the Wells Fargo parking structure. Lots of parking meters within the vicinity too. Parking is free on Sundays. . Ample servings and good flavor. I loved how my pasta had much seafood in it.

Sat at the bar as we had no reservations, and it was very busy due to a local concert. Server was definitely overwhelmed, but he hustled and made sure everyone was getting their drinks and meals. Ended up having dinner here because the menu looked phenomenal, and the meal did not disappoint. The Beet Salad was great and the pasta dishes were perfect. If in the area, this is a great place to stop by and enjoy a meal.

Came in for dinner and had the pleasure of being helped by Whitney. Whitney was polite, easy to converse and connect with, and showed excellent knowledge of her specials and menu. I ordered the grilled salmon special, which was balanced in its salty flavor and complimentary sides. The Colombian to drink resembled a Paloma. And the vulcano cake for dessert, which was PHENOMENAL with their vanilla ice cream

Firstly!! HUGE shoutout to Judith who made the impossible happen. I needed a Pvt room for 23 people 1 hour before we were wanting to arrive. I don’t know how she pulled it off but our room was ready for us when we got there. Second shoutout to our waiter Andrew, who knocked our socks off with the way he handled our group, absolutely amazing. My next business visit to Sacramento will definitely include this restaurant driven purely by the level of service we received. Now to the food …… OMG the calamari was the best I have ever tasted. The wines were fabulous and my entree was phenomenal! Their chef is so gifted. If you ever visit Sacramento please put this on your restaurant plan. Well done guys 10/10 on everything you did

Located in the Handle District, Aioli Bodega Espanola offers a traditional Spanish dining experience with a menu featuring tapas, paellas, and raciones. The restaurant also provides an extensive selection of craft cocktails, beer, wine, and refreshing sangria. One of its specialties is the zarzuela de mariscos, a seafood stew loaded with various delicacies. Guests can enjoy their meals on the charming outdoor patio or in the warm indoor dining room adorned with flickering candles.
Absolutely fantastic experience at Aioli Bodega Española yesterday afternoon! My wife and I enjoyed a delightful selection of tapas and some wonderful wine. The food was truly excellent – bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. What really stood out was the exceptional service we received from Omer. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and made our experience even more enjoyable. We also loved the relaxing atmosphere of the outdoor seating area. It was the perfect spot to unwind and savor the delicious food and drinks. We highly recommend Aioli Bodega Española and can't wait to return!

This has been my go-to lunch place for years! How can you top the lunch special where you choose from the fish, stew, or pasta that starts with a soup and ends with a dessert? Recently, I had a late lunch and had the restaurant to myself. It was magical. I highly recommend taking the time for yourself to treat yourself every now and again to some alone lunch time. So worth it. Especially here.
Jennifer H — Google review
A couple of weeks ago, we finally visited Aioli Bodega Española in Sacramento, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The weather was perfect, so we grabbed a table in their relaxing backyard patio, which felt like the ideal setting for a slow evening. We began our meal with a pitcher of sangria and two tapas: Patatas Bravas, which are crispy potatoes with just the right amount of kick, and Pinchos Morunos, spiced skewers of meat. Both were delicious. We also ordered the soup of the day, which was warm, flavorful, and gone far too quickly. For the main course, the three of us shared a Paella Valenciana. Although it is technically meant for two, it turned out to be the perfect size for the three of us—just enough to satisfy without leaving us too full to enjoy dessert. We finished with a creamy flan, and I ended the night with a strong espresso, just how I like to cap off a good meal. The food was excellent across the board, and the service matched it—friendly without being rushed. The entire evening had a relaxed vibe, making the experience even better. As a little extra context, Aioli Bodega Española has been a Sacramento staple since the mid-1990s, run by Aziz Bellarbi Salah and his family. Their focus is on traditional Spanish dishes, especially tapas, paellas, and of course, sangria. It’s no wonder that the restaurant has endured for so long; it feels like a place that’s truly woven into the fabric of the neighborhood.

Decent Spanish style tapas that verge into Mediterranean meze at times. Not always the freshest ingredients (shrimp had obviously been frozen for some time). Good selection of wine and excellent suggestions from the staff.

We had such a lovely experience here for our team celebration lunch. Yolanda took good care of us, made helpful suggestions, and ensured we enjoyed ourselves. Every dish (we sampled alot of the menu) was delicious, and they had a large vegetarian and even vegan selection. Don't even think about skipping dessert. We will go back. Thank you for the wonderful time.
Nancy C — Google review
The experience was pretty average overall. The food was regular — nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. Presentation left a lot to be desired; the plates, cups, and cocktail glasses felt more like a casual café than a Spanish restaurant aiming for a quality dining experience. The menu was quite limited, with many items feeling repetitive. While the prices aren’t extremely high, they don’t match the quality you’re getting. One real highlight was the staff — friendly, attentive, and professional. Unfortunately, even the tablecloths were just paper covers, which didn’t help elevate the atmosphere. Not terrible, but definitely not impressive.

Restaurant
Dawson's Steakhouse is a refined dining spot located in the Hyatt Regency Hotel, serving modernized steakhouse favorites and artisanal cocktails. Since its establishment in 1988, this downtown gem has been a beloved choice for over 25 years. Nestled within the prestigious Hyatt Regency, it caters to both hotel guests and locals seeking an upscale dining experience.
This place is great. This is the second time we’ve been. The steak is wonderful. And you can share one baked potato. It was huge. We couldn’t even finish half of the baked potato between the two of us. And then I had the deconstructed strawberry shortcake which blew me away. I highly recommend Dawson’s.
Chachilove67@gmail.com M — Google review
Very good option when downtown for dinner with excellent menu selections and fantastic bar menu. Bread service with sea salted butter and fresh sourdough was great. Crab cakes and carrot cake with best in class! Enjoyed the NY steak and sprouts but did not stand out like the other items
Will C — Google review
I recently tried Dawson’s because I heard good things. My wife and I spent date night here on a Friday night at 8:30. The place looks nice and service was friendly. Unfortunately, that was the best part of the night. We spent $420 for 2 people and my review is based on that price. For that price, I expect to have a good meal, and this wasn’t that. We received bread and butter promptly, but there was a coffee bean in the butter. Not disqualifying by any means, but a data point for the night. The bread was bland, kinda cold and seemed like a sourdough multigrain. Mediocre bread isn’t disqualifying, but just another data point. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco, and it was served with filmy, dirty glasses. My wife noticed it right away and asked for new glasses. The service was adequate/average for a mid tier steakhouse, not exceptional, but not bad. We ordered the Crab Cakes to start. I liked the crisp of the crab cake, but the flavor wasn’t great. It tasted mostly of Old Bay and I couldn’t really distinguish the crab or crab flavor. We are used to crab cakes from another local steakhouse and they are infinitely better and cost less. Also, the hummus and pico de gallo seemed to be what they were relying on for flavor and taste. Side note, all the extra hummus/pico from the crab cakes did go nicely with the bread from earlier. Crabcakes - 2/10, have had better crab cakes from the frozen section. For our meal, my wife and I both ordered the Ribeye (medium rare for me and medium for her) and added on the Lobster tail. We also had the bacon/bleu cheese jam, whipped potatoes, and mushrooms for accompaniments/sides. The ribeyes were overcooked and tough. These are supposed to be Prime steaks, but they were not good. There was not a stitch of salt or pepper. It seems like they rely on the sauces/crusts/sides to provide flavor. I cooked Choice NY strips for my kids before coming out and I would have rather had that. Ribeyes - 2/10 - Not even salting steaks before cooking is an unforgivable sin. The Lobsters were bland, like they were just boiled and put on a plate. Seasoning was lacking and a little color would have made it better, a little sear or grill or something. My wife didn’t even finish it. Lobsters - 0/10 Carnival Cruises has better Lobster. We got the potatoes, the mushrooms, and the bacon and blue cheese jam. The potatoes were whipped decently, but average at best. Flavor was just meh. The mushrooms seemed like they were boiled, I expected more of sautee and a little color. They were also just meh. The bacon and bleu cheese jam didn’t add much and isn’t really necessary. Very forgettable. Potatoes - 5/10, Mushrooms - 3/10, Bacon/Blue Cheese Jam- 6/10. We did get dessert (we weren’t going to at this point because of how things were going) and the restaurant gave them for free because I guess the time got away from them and the kitchen was closing soon. This was a nice point. I ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter Molten cake and my wife ordered the Apricot Pistachio cake. The Apricot cake was light and airy, but the flavor felt basic and muted. The Molten cake was great because I’m a sucker for peanut butter. Apricot Pistachio cake - 5/10. Chocolate Peanut Butter Molten cake - 9/10 - This was the highlight of the night. All in all I was very disappointed with this meal for the price, but also just in general. Even if I spent half, this still wouldn’t be a good review. TL:DR - Overpriced, bland and underwhelming with a nice atmosphere and decent service.

Okay, if you're advertised as high end, charging high end prices, I would expect your steaks being high end. This is not the case. I was disappointed with this place. I would rate it as average, on par with places like outback steakhouse. I got the rib eye, medium rare, it took them way too long to get it out, steak was cold. The taste was ok, and yes they did cook it medium rare. Overall I would rate it as average. Totally not what I was expecting from an 80 dollars steak. This place is not comparable to Mortons or Ruth's Cris. Their crab cakes were too salty. On a positive note the server was super nice, the lobster tail add on was delicious, and their cocktails was pretty good. In summary I would recommend Outback steakhouse over this place, you'd probably enjoy it more and pay a lot less!

What can I say? It's a high end steakhouse that definitely justifies its price tag. One of the best steaks I've had the pleasure of eating. Thanks for being a great place for my pops and I to enjoy a great dinner!

AHHHH this place was so expensive! For the crab cakes, they were super small for $28! Didn’t even taste thaaat great for the price 😔 A better price would have been like $8 :/ The seafood cioppino was a whopping $69, but it should have been like, hmm $40 🙃 The chicken was okay, but it wasn’t anything life changing. And ughhh for the cauliflower steak? I’m so mad that on the menu, for all the ingredients listed, they didn’t even put the cauliflower and the bell peppers in there, so it was so misleading and made me think that there actually was some meat in this dish 🙃 And this plate of veggies came up to $28??? What the heck 😭 I was so mad that I wanted to tell the waiter to take it back and let me order something else, but I manned up and ate it like a kind customer 😔 Food also took a while to come too. I never wanna come here again 💀 However, they had some really great customer service! 😊 The waiter was patient with us and had a great aura! Him and the other workers walked by often to make sure we always had enough water, bread, care and etc!

Delicious food at a good price! I really enjoyed their Gnocchi and loved the pesto-ey citrusy sauce which tasted so fresh. The dishes are also not as expensive as other Italian places so I was pleasantly surprised! Update: We came back for dinner two more times and enjoyed both meals! I like how they adjust their menu with the seasons. I had the Gnocchi again and this time around it had a pumpkin sauce and pumpkin seeds. Very delicious!

Nice, upscale restaurant. The meals were presented beautifully. Fritto Misto was good but not for the non-vegetable eaters. Potato Gnocchi was well prepared however not a fan of the lemon brown butter. The lemon flavor spoiled it for me. The Radiatore was a winner.

Loomis 8/9 weight fly rod because he knew I wasn't using it anymore, so I told him.."You can have it, but I want a dinner from Piatti Restaurant in exchange" He agreed to the exchange providing I bring it to Sactown, and hand deliver it! What a deal...I drive from Napa to Sactown, give him a $1100. Fly Rod and he gives me a Piatti dinner. Well, we used to have a Piatti up in Yountville, and there's one in Mill Valley that's hard to get in and out of...So, you know what..it is a good deal! But, I thought he'd at least take me there instead of grabbing a couple of to-go dishes and eating them at his kitchen table. Piatti is every bit worthy of a two hour drive! ☆☆☆☆☆

The Frasinetti Winery is a family-owned and operated winery that has been in operation for over three hundred years. The restaurant side of the business has been around for almost forty years, and offers an Italian dining experience that is perfect for enjoying a wine pairing with dinner. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and one of the four Frasinetti brothers came over to greet us during our visit. The food was excellent, and the service was fantastic.

Saturday, 1/29/2022 - Went to Frasinetti's Winery & Restaurant for the 1st time. This restaurant is right off Florin Road in Sacramento, CA by the train track. A little hidden gem in the city right in this residential area. They are open Thursday- Saturday from 5pm to 8pm. They only serve clam chowder on Fridays. Upon arrival: Pros: 1) there were a lot of parking 2) place was beautiful 3) we went into Frasinetti's winery shop by accident. Very cute little shop. I didn't get a chance to browse as we had dinner reservations and we were already 30 minutes late to join our fun crew. 4) restaurant is the building with the Frasinetti's old truck next to it. 5) as you enter the front doors to the restaurant, there's a bar in front of you. Bar is open. Lots of table. 6) we got the room to the left of the bar reserved. There is 2 private bathrooms in that room through a separate door. Very clean private bathrooms. 7) table, chairs, plates, bowls, utensils, cups were all clean. Our servers was very nice and professional. We were a large group, and I'm impress how patient she was with us. 8) server made sure our water cup was filled. Water tasted good. They checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. 9) all the foods were tasty and food presentation was great. 10) drinks were good. 11) tables with 8+ people, there's is a 19% gratuity added to your tab. There's a $4.00 split plate fee as well. 12) the other women's bathroom had 2 stall. It was very clean as well. 13) the restaurant was so cute and clean from what I was able to see. 14) they were so nice, they brought extra small plates and forks for us so that we can do 2 of our birthday cakes. 15) they even provided to-go trays with lids and boxes for us. 16) plates were petty large. We did a lot of food sharing since it was large portions. Cons: 1) my friend was one of the ones that ordered her steak right when we got there. She was the last to get her plate. Actually, they forgot her order. After everyone got their plates, she had to ask our waitress where her plate was at. She had to remind our waitress what she ordered. 2) one of my friend's drink, I think lemon drop, wasn't strong. Very light, she said. 3) they can only take 2 cards and split it once. 4) Conclusion: I really like this little hidden spot. May not be hidden for some. But it was for me. Cute restaurant, good food, service good, nice workers. Try this place if you haven't yet.

The food was delicious, the wine was excellent and the service was top notch. The wine tasting was complimentary with a dinner reservation, which was an added bonus. Liked the wine so much that we purchased a few bottles to take home. All in all, it was a great place to share a meal with good friends and a nice bottle of Chianti. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because they left out the chicken in one of our dishes. Our server quickly rectified the mistake and was very efficient and courteous. Will definitely be back!

Spent the morning walking through while waiting for a flight. Area was lovely to walk around, and we enjoyed the short history bulrups. Along the corners. They were informative , but Short Which kept me from feeling like I was reading a novel. Down side to be there in there early in the morning shops were not open yet. However, there's a lovely coffee shop one could get breakfast at to kill time while you wait to shop.

Great history area. Loved the authentic, old train that you can ride on! The California train museum has so many beautiful restored locomotives and train cars that you can walk through. Also. I found the United States mail train to be extremely interesting! I did not know that the post office used to operate trains for the mail!

The Old Sacramento Waterfront is such a gem. It's full of charm, history, and great local energy. Whether you’re walking along the cobblestone streets, browsing through unique shops, or watching the river roll by, there’s always something to enjoy. One of my favorite stops is The Atrium It’s an absolute must-visit! It’s a creative hub filled with local art, sustainable brands, and friendly makers. You can shop for beautifully handcrafted pieces, sip and paint in their cozy art space, or explore the gallery to see inspiring work by local artists. It’s the perfect mix of relaxation and creativity and a wonderful way to support Sacramento’s art community. If you’re spending a day at the waterfront, make sure to carve out some time at The Atrium. You’ll leave with a full heart, maybe a handmade treasure, and definitely a smile.

We stopped in old Sacramento on our way to Lake Tahoe and had lunch and walked around the town. It was a wonderful experience. The little town was so cute and great little shops. Definitely worth stopping here one of the best capitals I have been to. It was a great way to break up the trip and had a wonderful time.

I went down to try to do a little fishing close to the docs where fish sometimes will feed on the the bait fish that hang out there. But I would say do to the rise in homelessness docs and banks alike were totally inexessable. Seen the coolest fire boat while down there. this was probably the coolest looking fire boat I ever have seen !

A great place to take your family or out-of-town guests to relax while exploring the Capital City's history. It's a magical feeling to drive a modern EV imported from Vietnam over a brick road built in the 1800s for horse-drawn wagons. My wife and I enjoyed walking along the boat docks from the Delta King to the other side of the golden Tower Bridge. There are many shops, waterfront restaurants, and even the California State Railroad Museum if you love old trains.

We walked around in the middle of the night so as you would expect it was an eery feeling but also very peaceful at the same time. It's actually pretty great that they have security securing the place. What's really needed in this area is a public restroom that is open during the nights

Visitors praise the winery for its welcoming atmosphere and friendly owners who host special events and tastings. I’ve been here a number of times and always have a wonderful experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. The wife and I just tried the chocolate and wine pairing and it was a great experience. It’s fun to see how the wines change with the chocolates. The wines overall are delicious.

It is ALWAYS our pleasure to stop in for a quick taste or 2 when picking up our wine club selection. Big Matt is always happy to see us and share a tale or 2 about the winery and/or the harvest, etc. We love being Dirt members and we enjoy the wine every time!
Corinne P — Google review
We have never been disappointed, nor has anyone we have invited to join us to indulge in this wonderful wine. Their Alabarino sells out fast due to its perfectly balanced flavors. Can't pick just one red wine but the Old Vine is a must. Love Erin and Matt for always making us feel at home when visiting. Rod too.
Quvina C — Google review
We had a fantastic visit with Three Wine Company. We thoroughly enjoyed the wine along with talking wine with Erin and the entire staff. We were sorry to miss the annual "Duck" Paella Party and hope to be in town for the next event!
