Sabarmati Ashram, also known as Gandhi Ashram or Satyagraha Ashram, is a significant site of Hindu spirituality located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It served as the residence for Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi. The ashram is renowned for being the starting point of Gandhi's famous Dandi March.
Sabarmati Ashram is a must-visit place, rich in history and peaceful in its surroundings. Everything inside is described in great detail, which helps visitors truly understand the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The place is very well maintained, clean, and thoughtfully organized for visitors. If you’re visiting for the first time, I recommend parking your car right in front of the Ashram entrance instead of on the highway. This saves you from a long walk and makes the visit more convenient. Also, try to plan your visit in the evening so you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Sabarmati River along with the calm atmosphere of the Ashram. Overall, it’s a serene and informative experience that connects you to an important part of India’s history.
Jani P — Google review
Nice place for history and architecture lovers. You can learn about freedom struggles. Another thing which i noticed was related to no. of activities which were taken up by Mahatma Gandhi, It is really difficult to manage so many things by one person, I am sure he had an able team which was able to support him throughout. Some of them were mentioned in the Ashram, you can visit to know more details. Also, there is no entry fees
S K — Google review
I really don’t know whether to put a 4star or 1star, anyway, as a place known by one of the most influenced personality ever, providing 5 star. The place, you will feel like an old clean compound, where the great asabarmati pass by. I reached whe it was quiet calm, very less crowded, neat surroundings. But the government could do more. They can put a Khadi store there for outsiders, can have a stall of fresh juice, can have a ‘Goshaala’ where you get pure ghee.. government could do much more, but presently it is at outskirts of a big city with less development reached. Anyway worth of a single visit.
Nandhu K — Google review
I recently visited Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram and it was a very peaceful and meaningful experience. The place has a calm atmosphere and you can actually feel the simplicity with which Mahatma Gandhi lived. The museum inside is well maintained and displays his personal belongings, letters, photographs and important moments from India’s freedom struggle. Walking around the ashram gives a sense of history and inspiration at the same time. The view of the Sabarmati River adds to the serenity of the place. It is not just a tourist spot, but a place that reminds us of Gandhiji’s values and way of life. Definitely worth visiting.

Gandhiji's Sabarmati Ashram, located on the banks of the Sabarmati River, is a must-visit for anyone interested in India's independence movement. This serene was Gandhi's home from 1917 to 1930, and it's where he planned the Dandi March. The ashram's museum showcases his life, with exhibits on his philosophy, letters, and personal belongings. The peaceful gardens and tranquil atmosphere make it a perfect spot for reflection. A visit here inspires and educates. This place was really helpful for the students and the people who are interested in the history of India. Inside the ashram there is art gallery of the independence movement. There is a small museum there which exhibits the different verities of charkas. The ashram was well maintained and clean.
Nihad U — Google review
I recently had the chance to visit Gandhi Ashram with my fellow Local Guides, and it was a truly memorable experience. The moment you step into the premises, there’s a deep sense of peace that surrounds you — it feels like stepping back in time to the era of Mahatma Gandhi. The museum is incredibly well-maintained, and walking through it while reading the display boards and admiring the oil paintings really gives you a glimpse into Bapu’s life, values, and struggles. Every corner of the Ashram carries a sense of calm and inspiration. It’s not just a historical place, but a space where you can reflect, learn, and feel connected to something much bigger than yourself. If you’re in Ahmedabad or anywhere nearby, this is a must-visit spot — not just for history lovers, but for anyone seeking a peaceful and meaningful experience.

The best quiet place in Ahmedabad where you can find peace and is best for visiting. A place you must visit with your family at least once. Here are a few suggestions based on places known for peace and family visits: * Sabarmati Ashram (Gandhi Ashram): Offers a very serene and peaceful environment, steeped in history. It's a must-visit for families. * ISKCON Temple / Akshardham Temple (in nearby Gandhinagar): Spiritual places often provide a great sense of calm and are beautiful for a family visit. Akshardham is particularly known for its grand architecture and peaceful atmosphere. * Sarkhej Roza: A beautiful and peaceful architectural complex with a mosque and tomb, surrounded by a water tank, offering a tranquil escape. * Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary / Thol Lake Bird Sanctuary: Slightly outside the city, but these natural spots are excellent for peace, nature, and a family outing (especially during the migratory season). Translation: "The quietest place in Ahmedabad where one finds peace of mind and is best for visiting. A place you must visit with your family at least once."

One of the cleanest and well-maintained places I have been to. I had an industrial visit here. This ashram shows the life of Gandhi in an extensive way. Lot of trees in the premises. Must-visit.

From boating and tethered balloon rides to a zoo, children's park, amusement park, and natural history museum along its shores, there's no shortage of entertainment. The lake also features an artificial island called Nagina Wadi accessible via a walkway.
It was just amazing enough. Kankaria Lake . Located in Maninagar area of Ahmedabad City. Originally built as Hauz e Qutub in 1451. The circular area around the lake is a promenade with various entertainment options. . A lakefront is developed around it, which has many public attractions such as a zoo, toy train, kids city, tethered balloon ride, water rides, water park, food stalls, and entertainment facilities. The Lakefront is revamped during 2007-08. There are a lot of entertainment activities you can enjoy. There are different stories against the naming of the lake, but whatever it is the name Kankaria is related to Hazrat- i- Shah Alam. Kamala Nehru Zoological Garden or Kankaria Zoo is a prominent place of attraction indeed. You can spend a whole day here as there are lot of activities/amusement available. Kankaria Carnival is an annual week-long cultural festival organised in last week of December since 2008. The festival include art, dance and music performances, social awareness programmes, games and activities for children. Entry Rs.10 per head. Closed on Mondays. Open: 4.00 am to 8.00 am for joggers. 9.00 am to 10.00 pm for general public. ****

Kankaria Lake is a lively, family friendly spot with Balvatika, fun rides, boat activities, a zoo, and evening lights. Perfect for kids, walks, and local snacks fun for a full day out!
Yusuf P — Google review
Absolutely loved it. The lake is very beautiful and amazing. It has few entry points but not all of them have parking option available. There are so many activities to do in the lake. Lots of food options. Lots of amazing activities. The train is very amazing, it gives you a one round about tour of a lake. In addition with that, it has flower garden, fishes to see and joy to experience.

Great place for a fun outing with family or friends! Kankaria Talav has something for everyone — toy train, zoo, kids' play areas, food stalls, and a beautiful lake view. It's clean, well-maintained, and lively in the evenings. Best to visit during sunset for a nice walk around the lake. Good spot for kids and couples too!

Kankariya lake is a beautiful Park for children. Here lots of people come. Lots of swings and sliders for kids. A toy train which is an attraction for visitors. 10 ₹for adults and 5₹ for kids

We must be thankful to Lt. King Ahmedshah for building Kankariya for the people of Ahmedabad. Thanks to Our beloved PM Modi for giving the vision to Government of Gujarat and AMC for developing this as a public spot. One of the best place for family picnic and kids gonna love this too.
Farhan G — Google review
Kankariya Lake is a beautiful spot in Ahmedabad, perfect for family outings. The scenic views, boat rides, and zoo make it a must-visit. However, if you’re seeking peace, avoid festive times like Satam Atham Mela, as it gets crowded with a lively Marwadi crowd. While the energy is fun, it can be overwhelming. Overall, it's a great place to enjoy nature, but timing is key if you prefer tranquility!

Jama Masjid, a stunning yellow-sandstone mosque, was built in 1424 by Sultan Ahmed Shah I in Ahmedabad. It is not only the city's but also the country's most popular and beautiful mosque. The intriguing history of its construction and the materials used are interlinked with its stunning architecture. Adjacent to the mosque lies a mausoleum where Sultan Ahmed Shah I, his son, and grandson are buried.
Jama Masjid is a stunning architectural marvel and a must-visit historical landmark, the mosque showcases beautiful Indo-Islamic architecture, with intricately carved stone pillars, grand arches, and a vast courtyard that exudes serenity.
Krish K — Google review
Sometimes we come across architecture that we do not expect. A few months ago, I had this feeling when I visited Akbar's tomb in Sikandra. Yesterday, when I visited the Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad, I had a similar feeling. The Jama Masjid, built in 1424 AD during the reign of Ahmad Shah I (1411 AD - 1442 AD), the founder of Ahmedabad city, is a unique example of the Gujarati provincial style of architecture. The Gujarat style involves the use of decorated arches and minarets, jaalis, chhajjas and chhatris. These have been used in a very elegant manner in the Jama Masjid. The mosque is mentioned in the book Mirat-e-Sikandari by Sikandar Ibn-e-Mohammad Manzoo. The mosque is built of yellow sandstone with the main prayer hall at the western end of a wide courtyard and pillared corridors on the other three sides. A large tank is situated in the middle of the courtyard. The roof of the mosque with 15 domes rests on 246 pillars. The pillars are not very decorated but the Qibla wall and the front wall of the mosque are decorated in a wonderful way. There were two tall minarets on both sides of the main entrance of the prayer hall which fell in the earthquakes of 1819 AD and 1956 AD. Now only the lower part of them remains. The tomb and grave of Ahmed Shah is situated as soon as you exit the eastern door of the mosque. There are three graves in the main chamber of the tomb which belong to Ahmed Shah and his sons. Other graves are also present around the main chamber. The tomb is a great example of architecture in itself.
Rajiv R — Google review
This 600 years old Mosque is a piece of art you must not miss, if you are in Ahemdabad. Focus on the sculpture to find such diversity and craftsmanship. There is no restrictions.
Sohini D — Google review
ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும் dt 22-03-25. Do Not Travel to Gujarat from March to July, the heat is very very very High. Ladies can enter the Masjid but are not allowed inside the prayer hall of the masjid. Read about this Masjid in the internet, so it was very happy to see it in real. It is in the old city of Ahmedabad, and the driver told us, that it would be good to visit this Masjid before 10 am. After that the market opens and there will be heavy traffic. Built by Ahmad shah in 1424 A.D, who is the founder of the city of Ahmedabad. The mosque is very beautiful to look at. As you stand at the small entrance from the road you can see how beautiful is the plan of the mosque. There is the prayer hall, and then a large courtyard, which is covered on all 3 sides by corridors. As you go into the prayer hall you can notice the 15 wonderful high raise domes resting on 260 pillars. The buttress on either side of the main arch and as you enter the main arch the pillars are all beautifully carved. They have put a green sheet to protect the people who come pray from the sun, but that sheet is definitely spoiling the beauty of the Masjid. They also say that this Masjid had lofty minarets similar to the jama masjid in Delhi but it collapsed in 1819. we enjoyed the construction of the mosque and came out since we didn't want to be in the way of the people who were coming in to say their prayers.
Kalyan S — Google review
A stunning and historic mosque with beautifully carved stone pillars that rise impressively high. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the mosque and admire the intricate stone carvings throughout. The mosque is massive and can accommodate thousands of people at once. It’s truly a must-visit place if you’re in Ahmedabad!

*🌟🌟🌟🌟 Jama Masjid – A Majestic Heritage Monument* Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad, built by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1423, is a stunning example of pre-Mughal Islamic architecture. The mosque showcases intricate carvings, grand arches, and a peaceful ambiance, blending Islamic, Hindu, and Jain architectural styles. It is not only a place of worship but also a significant historical landmark, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Ahmedabad. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and architecture lovers alike.

The Calico Museum of Textiles, established in 1949 by Gira Sarabhai, is a dedicated showcase of India's rich textile heritage spanning five centuries. Located in Gujarat, the museum offers a comprehensive display of Indian fabrics and weaving techniques. Visitors can explore an extensive collection featuring painted, printed, woven, resist-dyed textiles from different regions and time periods.
This museum is situated in shaibag in old Ahmedabad. You have to do pre booking if you want to visit there. There are two timings for booking... one is at 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM and the other is from 2.30 PM to 4.30 PM. The museum is very well maintained. staffs are very well behaved and helpful. It has a large collection of art from textile to idol and knitting elements. The atmosphere is also very good. It is full of greeneries. Though the guide was a little strict overall I will say it was a nice experience. It is just 2.5 km away from Sabarmati Ashram. Those who are coming to see Sabarmati Ashram I will recommend everyone to visit here once.
Nilachal C — Google review
This place is awesome and wonderful! 🤩 I visited it in January with my boyfriend, and we had so much fun. When we entered the gate, it felt like stepping into a new world. All the staff were kind and helpful. I loved the ambiance, and the service was excellent. The guide was really good at telling the history of everything. I also liked the tea and the peanuts they served at the end of the tour 🥹 Such a memorable experience! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ahmedabad — don’t miss this place! Nb: It’s prohibited to use cameras and phone or taking any pictures inside the building.
Itszadw — Google review
I for one enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Unlike what others have said I found the process of registering for the tour quite straight forward. We turned up at the museum and were politely turned away and told we had to register for the tour. Registered for the next day and received an email immediately. The guide was knowledgeable and also was able to keep the flock together and complete the tour in the allotted time. The tea and boiled groundnuts at the end of the tour was a welcome gesture... specially as it was a free tour! Kudos to the museum for a well kept and tastefully done display.
Viji R — Google review
I had a very disappointing experience with the security staff at the Calico Textile Museum. When I said I came to visit, he kept questioning me in a rude manner (“Which museum? What museum?”), and after unnecessary back-and-forth, he simply said it was not the time to visit. When I asked for guidance on how to see the museum, he pointed to a wall and told me to read the board. The same behavior was repeated with another family, who even recorded a video of it. This kind of treatment towards visitors is very unwelcoming and leaves a poor impression of such a prestigious institution. The museum itself may be worth visiting, but the management should seriously address this issue with their staff.
Ajay A — Google review
The hidden gem in Ahmedabad that’s a must-visit for anyone interested in Indian textiles: a remarkable museum showcasing an exquisite collection. Housed in the former residence of Shri Ambalal Sarabhai, this museum requires advance booking through their website, as they limit entry to about 20 visitors at a time. Words can’t fully capture the beauty and depth of the collection—you simply have to experience it firsthand. Our tour guide, a delightful lady with a great sense of humor, made the visit even more enjoyable, and I’m deeply grateful for her insights. Note that cameras, phones, and large bags are not permitted inside.
Sam P — Google review
This place is absolutely amazing and fantastic! 🤩 When we walked through the gate, it felt like we were entering a whole new world. All the staff members were friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the service was top-notch. The guide was excellent at sharing the history of everything. What a memorable experience! I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Ahmedabad — be sure not to miss this spot! Note: Taking photos or using cameras and phones inside the building is not allowed.

I had a wonderful time this afternoon listening to our guide's stories of how everything was made over 200 years ago. The museums housed in a group of very old houses and full of atmosphere. The work on show is simply beautiful. You must book and entry is through Gate 1. All bags and phones must be left at security.

Beautiful jain temple. Photography is not allowed inside but there are all the 42 gods of Jainism and the main statue is of gold. Architecture is beautiful 😍 Do spend some time here

Visited last week. One of the wonderful temples with jain architecture. It was mesmerizing to see the detailed carvings in the limestones. The surrounding walkways arches were built beautifully. Also the place was well maintained. Overall it's a peaceful place of worship. Photo not allowed inside the premises.

Nicely carved Jain temple in the heart of Ahmedabad. As is usual in Jain temples, the ambience is calm and facilitates meditation and silence. Some construction is still going on, so some debris is there near the construction area. Well worth a visit for the visual beauty & the peaceful ambience. Quite a large temple, photography is prohibited, which is always a downer for me.

This is one of the must visit places in Ahmedabad. The temple walls are covered with beautiful and artistic carvings. The history behind the construction of the temple makes it even special and interesting. The place is well maintained and is worth a visit for some peaceful time.

The Hutheesing Jain Temple in Ahmedabad is truly a masterpiece of architecture, devotion, and history. Built in the mid-19th century, this marble temple stands as a symbol of faith and dedication. The moment you enter, you are greeted with intricate carvings, beautifully sculpted pillars, and a serene atmosphere that instantly brings peace to the mind. The craftsmanship here is extraordinary — every detail on the walls, domes, and ceilings speaks of the unmatched skill of artisans of that era. The temple complex is not only a place of worship but also a living gallery of India’s rich architectural heritage. One of the highlights is the Manastambha (tower of glory), standing tall and gracefully carved, symbolizing victory of the soul over material desires. The pathways, marble flooring, and arches reflect both beauty and tranquility, making it a perfect spot for inner reflection. The temple premises are well maintained, calm, and filled with positive energy. Visitors are expected to maintain silence and respect the sanctity of the place, which adds to the divine experience. Overall, Hutheesing Jain Temple is not just a religious site but a cultural jewel of Ahmedabad. Whether you are spiritually inclined, an admirer of heritage, or simply someone who loves peaceful places, this temple is a must-visit.

Built in 1848 by a Jain merchant, Sheth Hutheesing, this temple is dedicated to the 15th Jain Tirthankara, Shri Dharmanatha. Crafted primarily from white marble, the temple is a marvel of design, with its delicate carvings, domed ceilings, and latticed windows casting intricate shadows that shift beautifully with the daylight. The sacred chants that gently echo through the sanctum enhance the divine ambience, encouraging reflection and inner calm. The temple’s courtyard, adorned with 52 smaller shrines, creates a feeling of being surrounded by layers of devotion. Monks and worshippers move quietly, and the scent of incense lingers in the air, reinforcing a deeply meditative mood. Despite being a popular tourist attraction, the sanctity and serenity of the temple are remarkably preserved. What truly sets Hutheesing Temple apart is the way it combines the spiritual and the aesthetic. The fine craftsmanship is not just art—it’s an expression of faith. Whether you’re religious or simply in search of a tranquil experience, the temple offers a moment of stillness and connection that lingers long after your visit. In a world full of distractions, the Hutheesing Jain Temple provides a rare and beautiful pause. It is not just a place of worship, but a space where one can reconnect—with self, silence, and the divine.

Sabarmati Riverfront is a popular destination in Ahmedabad, offering a variety of activities for visitors. On the western side, you can enter from the Sabarmati Riverfront Flower Park, while on the eastern side, there's access to the Sabarmati Riverfront Market. The area features numerous swings, sliders, and seesaws for children aged 1 to 10 years old. The equipment is well-maintained and free to use.
The centrepiece of the Riverfront would have to be its two-level promenade. It provides an uninterrupted walkway for pedestrians that is a whopping 11.4 km long. The lower level of the promenade, which is accessible to the public at present, is close to the water level and is constructed in a way that serves cyclists and pedestrians alike, at the same time providing adequate access to water. It also has a large number of amenities that include but are not limited to elevator access, regular seating arrangements for the public, public washrooms, boating facilities and a total of 31 Ghats constructed at regular intervals to ensure the smooth continuation of all traditional cultural activities involving the Sabarmati. The upper level of the promenade is still under construction, with plans of housing other public features at the city level. The riverfront is just over 10 km long and some of the features it provides include walkways over the river, breath-taking gardens, exciting amusement parks, golf courses and water sports parks. That’s not all; it provides a stunning view of the river, if you choose just to take a walk along the serene river. The promenade is full of health-conscious citizens of Ahmedabad as they finish a quick jog along the river. The fresh air and exercise provides a welcome relief from everyday life that will begin soon after the jog. It’s safe to say that the Sabarmati Riverfront provides one of the most exclusive and satisfying experiences if one chooses to visit Ahmedabad.

Sarkhej Roza is a captivating mosque and tomb complex that beautifully showcases the Indo-Saracenic architectural style, completed in 1451. Nestled amidst a serene landscape featuring a tranquil lake, this historical site reflects the rich Islamic culture intertwined with Persian influences and elements from Hindu and Jain traditions. Often hailed as the Acropolis of Ahmedabad, Sarkhej Roza stands as a testament to the city's heritage during Sultan Mahmud Begada's reign.
Sarkhej Roza is truly a must-visit place, especially for Sunni Muslims. The complex carries a rich heritage and deep history that makes it stand out among the iconic sites of Ahmedabad. The mosque here is very beautiful with intricate architecture, and the Roza itself is peaceful and inspiring. The entire place reflects Islamic art, culture, and spirituality. It’s not just a religious site but also a heritage landmark that gives you a glimpse into history. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore heritage, architecture, and spirituality together.

★★★★☆ - A Magnificent Historical Complex with Some Practical Considerations Sarkhej Roza is truly a hidden gem of Ahmedabad with its breathtaking architecture. The complex houses beautiful tombs of kings and queens, showcasing amazing historical significance. I was particularly impressed by the grand and picturesque lake that enhances the serene atmosphere of this ancient site. The architecture is fascinating with its unique stylistic elements. The open courtyard provides a wonderful space to appreciate the intricate details of the structure and offers great photo opportunities. The exquisite lattice work and carved pillars throughout the complex are truly mesmerizing, especially when sunlight filters through. Important note: You must remove your footwear before entering the complex, which can be uncomfortable as the ground gets very hot and dirty. I strongly recommend wearing socks as mentioned in the guidelines. Also, avoid visiting during rainy days as the experience will be compromised, and extremely hot days can make the visit unbearable since you'll be walking barefoot on hot surfaces. Despite these minor inconveniences, Sarkhej Roza is definitely worth visiting for its historical significance and architectural beauty if you plan your visit during comfortable weather conditions.

Sarkhej Roza is a historically significant tomb complex with stunning Indo-Islamic architecture, but it’s sadly not well maintained. The entrance lacks the presence of a protected heritage site, and the overall upkeep doesn’t do justice to its legacy. It deserves better maintenance and stronger promotion to attract the attention it truly merits.

It as a peaceful and serene place, appreciating the intricate details, exquisite craftsmanship, and tranquil surroundings. The site is also noted for its historical significance and the artistry displayed in the latticework and calligraphy.

Sarkhej Roza, located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is a stunning architectural complex that beautifully blends Islamic and Indian styles. Built in the 15th century, it serves as a mausoleum for the revered Sufi saint, Sheikh Ahmed Khattu Ganj Baksh. The site is a serene retreat, characterized by its elegant domes, intricately carved pillars, and expansive courtyards. Visiting Sarkhej Roza feels like stepping into a tranquil oasis, away from the city's hustle and bustle. The intricate latticework and exquisite calligraphy reflect the artistry of the period, making it a photographer's delight. The peaceful atmosphere is perfect for contemplation and reflection. One of the highlights is the large water tank, which enhances the beauty of the surroundings and offers a serene spot for visitors to relax. The combination of historical significance and architectural splendor makes it an important cultural landmark. While it can be less crowded than other tourist spots, this adds to its charm. Sarkhej Roza is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or spirituality. It’s a place that invites you to connect with the past and appreciate the rich heritage of Gujarat.
Pathan N — Google review
Located just 8 km from Ahmedabad, Sarkhej Roza is a majestic 15th-century architectural complex nestled in the quiet village of Sarkhej. Revered as the "Acropolis of Ahmedabad", this site draws parallels to the Parthenon in Athens, not just in scale but in spiritual and architectural grandeur. Commissioned by Sultan Ahmed Shah for the esteemed Sufi saint Sheikh Ahmed Khattu Ganj Baksh, the complex houses his serene tomb along with royal mausoleums of Sultan Mahmud Begada, his queen Rani Rajabai, their sons, an open Jama Masjid, a historic water tank, and a library-museum preserving ancient coins and manuscripts. The experience begins with a short walk from the parking area through arched stone gateways marked with history. Inside, one is greeted by massive sandstone pillars, cool marble flooring, and open courtyards. Despite the festive buzz of Eid, the complex retained a sense of calm and reverence. What stands out are the stone-carved walls, intricately decorated with Arabic-Indo geometric patterns—symmetrical, artistic, and beautifully weathered. Each section holds its charm: The royal tombs of Begada and his sons lie under richly carved domes, though sadly, some areas show signs of neglect. The tomb of Sheikh Ganj Baksh was active with local devotees in prayer and Quran recitation. A modest library and museum nearby, though disorganized, showcase old currency, documents, and artifacts. The once-grand 17-acre water tank, visible through lattice balconies, now lies dry, used only during the monsoon. It was originally built to support gardens and local needs. Unfortunately, the complex lacks signage and proper maintenance. Still, the place leaves a strong emotional and historical impression—a powerful reminder of Gujarat's rich spiritual and architectural heritage. Sarkhej Roza is not just a monument—it is a silent, crumbling manuscript of history, faith, and forgotten glory.

ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும் dt 22-03-25. Do Not Travel to Gujarat from March to July, the heat is very very very High. Visited this famous well known mosque. Ladies are not allowed inside the mosque. Mosque is quiet small and compact, but highlights the beauty of the indo islamic architecture. Built in the year 1572-73 by an Abyssinian (person from Ethiopia) called Sidi Saiyyed, who served under the then sultan. This mosque is well known for the wonderful intricate carvings in stone and their unique semi circular tracery windows, depicting the tree of life. Paper cutouts were made of the carved screens from which two wooden replicas were made and these are now in museum in London and New york. The driver was telling us that this mosque is still in use as the emblem of the Ahmedabad municipality. The grave of sidi saiyyed is inside this mosque. The mosque is in a congested area, hence parking is out of the question. Definitely worth a visit to admire the wonderful jalli work in the windows.

Adalajni Vav (Rudabai's Vav): Sculpture, History and a Poignant Love Story Adalajni Vav, also known as Rudabai's Vav, is a magnificent and historic Vav stepwell located near Gandhinagar in Gujarat. It is not just a water storage structure, but a masterpiece of Indian architecture and a living monument to a poignant love story. 📜 Synthesis of History and Architecture 📜 Construction: The construction of this Vav was started by Rani Rudabai in the late 15th century, around 1499. She started its construction in memory of Veer Singh Vaghela. After the death of Rana Veer Singh, Sultan Muhammad Begada of Gujarat completed the construction of the Vav, as Rani Rudabai had set a condition for marrying him. Architectural Style: This Vav presents a unique fusion of Hindu and Islamic architecture. The influence of Islamic style is clearly seen in the carvings of Hindu-Jain sculptures. Structure: The Vav is five stories deep and is called a 'Jaya' type Vav in classical terminology, because it has three main entrances. Its structure underground is so amazing that even on hot days, the temperature inside the Vav remains about 6 degrees Celsius lower than the outside temperature, which is a great testament to this ancient engineering skill. 🎨 Sculptural Intricacy The carvings on the walls and pillars of the Vav are its main feature. These sculptures not only depict the depictions of gods and goddesses, but also scenes of daily life: Women making butter. Women applying makeup. Scenes of dance and music. A small sculpture of the Navagrahas for protection from inauspiciousness. A Kalpa tree carved from a single stone and a jug of nectar from a potter. 🪙 Entry fee is ₹25 for Indian citizens and ₹300 for foreign citizens Commentary: "We as a nation must ensure that every tourist, local or foreign, who visits such ancient sites understands the importance and sanctity of this place. Don't litter anywhere. As conscious citizens, it is our duty to spread awareness and promote the message of 'Clean India, Clean Monument'." The Adalajni Vav is a shining star in the rich cultural heritage of Gujarat and India, which bears witness to the grandeur and engineering prowess of the past.

I visited Manek Chowk in Ahmedabad during a corporate trip. It’s near Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate and famous as a late-night food market open until 1 or 2 a.m. We went there because most of Ahmedabad closes by 8–9 p.m., unlike Delhi which stays lively late. Honestly, the experience was underwhelming. The area is crowded, but there are only 8–10 food carts, mostly selling the same items like bhaji pav, pulao, kaju pulao, small pizzas, and some South Indian snacks. Everything is served on plastic chairs and tables in open air, and hygiene seemed low. The only highlight for us was the jamun fruit shots they were really fresh and tasty. Overall, if you want a full dining experience, I wouldn’t recommend it. But if you just want to experience the local late-night food vibe in Ahmedabad, it’s worth a quick visit.

Rating: 1/5(As can't give zero stars) Tried Mysore Masala Dosa, Manchurian Noodles, and Cold Coco — would rate them 1/5, 1/5, and 3/5 respectively. The dosa was a disaster — dripping with oil, almost fried. Someone, a decade ago, probably decided to fuse sweet curd/lassi with masala dosa, and people just went along. It’s honestly the murder of authentic South Indian food. Sambhar was just average. The noodles tasted like ₹10 roadside fare — overly salty, with small-length noodles. The Manchurian was extremely dry, halved pieces resembling soy chunks. Every food outlet seemed to serve the same mediocre stuff, just under different names. And the crowd — chaotic, overcrowded, barely space to stand.Even Fish Market is less noisy then this place. Prices are also overhyped and unjustified for the quality offered. For a tourist, I’d strongly recommend skipping this so-called “iconic” Manek Chowk. Ahmedabad has better and cleaner places to enjoy local flavours.

Must visit during the day time and at night. Totally two different experiences. During the day, walk around shopping and exploring the old city, explore Jama Masjid and Rani Hajiro. At night the street turns into a food court.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Museum, located near Shahibaug Post Office and right in front of the Circuit House, is a must-visit place for those who want to explore the history of the Iron Man of India. The museum beautifully preserves and showcases the life and contributions of Sardar Patel through rare historical photographs and documents, many of which may not be found anywhere else. However, the place does feel like it has been losing its charm due to limited maintenance, as also shared by the staff. With proper development, this site could become a significant stop for history lovers and tourists alike. It truly deserves more attention and care. Accessibility is decent, as BRTS Bus No. 15 is available to reach here. Overall, a historically rich place that needs more preservation and promotion.

The museum beautifully preserves the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Housed in the historic Moti Shahi Mahal built by Shah Jahan, the ambience itself is royal and peaceful. The exhibits are well-curated with photographs, personal belongings, and interactive galleries that truly bring his journey to life. The 3D sound and light show is a highlight—it narrates India’s history in an engaging way. The place is clean, well-maintained, and very informative for both adults and children. Perfect spot to learn, reflect, and feel proud of India’s freedom struggle POV: Take cash to there to collect the tickets . No permission to take photographs from inside

Very nice museum, similar to the one at Statue of Unity. They’ve preserved every detail about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life. The museum is clean, well-maintained, and the area is peaceful and calming. Photography isn’t allowed inside, but it’s still worth the visit for the knowledge and experience.Monday closed.

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Ahmedabad is a truly enriching experience for anyone interested in Indian history and the life of the "Iron Man of India." Housed in the beautiful Moti Shahi Mahal palace, the memorial expertly blends historical significance with modern interactive exhibits. The museum is well-maintained and provides a comprehensive look into Sardar Patel's life and his pivotal role in unifying India. The surrounding gardens offer a peaceful and calming atmosphere, making it a great place for a reflective visit. The 3D laser show is a definite highlight, providing a powerful and engaging narrative of the independence movement. However, a notable issue that detracts from the experience is the problem of rainwater leakage. During my visit, it was apparent that the auditorium and some areas of the museum were not immune to water seepage during heavy rains, which is a concern for the preservation of the building and its contents. While the memorial is a must-visit, this particular maintenance issue should be addressed to ensure the long-term integrity of this important historical site. Despite this, the memorial is an excellent tribute and well worth the visit for its educational and historical value.

Jhulta Minar, also known as the Shaking Minarets, is a fascinating architectural wonder located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Situated within the Sidi Bashir Mosque complex, these minarets are renowned for their unique shaking phenomenon. When one minaret is shaken, the other starts shaking on its own despite being connected by intricate arches and corridors. This perplexing optical illusion has puzzled visitors for centuries and remains an unsolved mystery to this day.
A true architectural wonder! Jhulta Minara Masjid, also known as the Shaking Minarets, is a fascinating historical site in Ahmedabad. The unique feature of the minarets—where one shakes and the other vibrates—is an incredible mystery of ancient engineering. The intricate carvings and Mughal-era architecture add to its beauty. Though access to the minarets is restricted, the mosque itself is a peaceful and well-maintained place. A must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts!

All praise is due to Allah, who blessed us with Masajid as beacons of light and guidance. 🌿 “Allah opens the door of knowledge for His servant, and through that knowledge, He raises him to wisdom and success.” This unique historical Masjid stands as a symbol of faith and beauty, with its remarkable architecture that reflects devotion in every detail. Its arches and domes are not just stone, but stories of iman and ihsan, reminding every visitor of Allah’s greatness. May Allah preserve His houses of worship and fill them always with prayer, peace, and remembrance. 🕌✨

Historical place. Bibi masjid known as Jhoolta minara (shaking Minar) masjid built by king sultan of Gujarat in 1455. Beutiful masjid having unique facility to pray ladies in the masjid. There is a mesenin floored area with separate entry gate for ladies prayer area. This type unique facility is in 5 to 6 Masjids of Ahmedabad. All these masjids were built by the same family kings of Gujarat.

A Lively Yet Relaxing Experience Reviewers frequently mention the perfect blend: relaxing ambiance of the park + energetic market and street food vibe . A visitor shared: > “Law garden is the best place for Shopping, Dinner and playing in the garden... Dresses, footwear, dupatta, chaniya choli… Also food zone was good.” Morning or daytime visits offer a calmer setting—ideal for those who prefer a stroll without the crowds . 3. Law Garden is a quintessential Ahmedabad experience: a peaceful urban oasis by day and a cultural spectacle by night. With its traditional crafts, colorful fashion, tasty street food, and festive charm, it's a must-visit for both locals and tourists. ** Tips for the Best Visit**: Go early evening (around 6–8 PM) for a balanced experience. Bring cash, practice your bargaining skills. Stay alert—watch your belongings and stay cautious due to CCTV issues. The Patang Kite Museum in Ahmedabad is a modernist building designed by the renowned French architect Le Corbusier. It houses a collection of rare and patterned kites, making it India's first kite museum and the second in the world. The museum was established when Shri Bhanubhai Shah donated his extensive collection of kites to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
Located on Bhagtacharya road, Kocharab, Paldi at Ahmedabad, the kite museum is a nice place, especially for kids to see first hand the beautiful art of kites. Gujarat is synonymous with kite flying during the Uttarayan festival. During this time of the year, the sky is rendered colorful with kites flying all over the sky in unimaginable sizes, shapes, & color. Irrespective of caste, creed, or religion, Gujaratis fly kites during this festival. The museum is located within Sanskar Kendra, designed by Le Corbusier. It is mentioned that the thought of setting up such a museum came to Sri. Bhanubhai Shah when he gave away his collection of kites to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, which also incidentally manages the place. The museum also has display of several historical aspects of kite flying since the ancient times. It's astonishing to read about the different types of kites from other parts of the world & how this art has evolved over the ages. The museum is easily accessible by different modes of transport. Overall, a beautiful place to visit with kids. 👌👌🇮🇳🇮🇳

3 stars because it was closed and I have no clue What's inside. However I was able to spot some beautiful old rock art. Again these beautiful sculptures were very amazing to look at but there was no history or details written anywhere around. All we can do is imagine what could it have been in the past. Maybe if they do some more work on it, I will prefer going there again.
Simran S — Google review
Designed by Le Corbusier to exhibit the history of kites and its making. Its combination of brick and concrete creates a softened look which contrasts with the Brutalist Tagore Hall opposite the museum. Currently, the museum is closed due to a major need for restoration, as it is quite dilapidated, due to the concrete planters breaking off or having been pulled for safety reasons. It was poorly made at an early stage, so it wasn’t able to last long.
Cherry J — Google review
Maintained quite poorly, the shelves don't seem to have been cleaned for a long time. The place is quite dark, inadequate & improper lighting system. Managed inefficiently & needs lots of improvements to prove to its claim of being 2nd largest kite museum in the world(1st one at Japan).

Kite flying day is only festival which follow the dates every year. Other festivals follow the movement of sun and moon. No it does not meant it is not festival belongs to India. Science City Ahmedabad is a must-visit destination for science enthusiasts. This museum offers an engaging experience that promotes scientific curiosity and learning. With 13 main sections featuring state-of-the-art facilities, visitors can explore various aspects of science in an entertaining and educational manner. The newly added Aquarium and Robo Museum are particularly impressive, showcasing captivating installations and displays that captivate the imagination.
Loved my visit to Science City! I booked my ticket through the app—it was super easy and showed options for combo passes and single entries. I chose Combo 1, which cost around ₹345 per person and covered many key attractions (the app even has a built-in map that shows where to go next). I’d suggest reaching around 12–1 pm, especially since it’s a huge complex and there’s quite a bit of walking. If you’re not up for too much walking, they offer golf carts for a small fee—definitely useful. Highlights for me: • Thrill ride—a fun, must-try experience. • Aquarium—absolutely amazing, especially the shark tunnel and penguins. • Robotics gallery—great learning experience, interesting to see all the robot displays. • Plant section (Life Science Park)—so many species, really peaceful. • Nature Park—incredible, but huge—I couldn’t cover everything in one go. Perfect place for kids to learn and explore—blend of fun, science, and nature. Highly recommend visiting!” ⸻ Why This Works • Personal & clear: It sounds conversational and easy to read. • Actionable tips: Mentions buying via app with combos, timing advice, and golf carts. • Highlights variety: Covers rides, aquarium, robotics, plant section, and nature park. • Inviting tone: Emphasizes it’s great for kids and families.

Science City is a great one-day adventure spot. The Aquatic Gallery is amazing if you love sea creatures, especially fish, as you’ll easily lose track of time here. The Robotics Gallery is decent, but more fun for kids than adults; the staff is a little bit do the work, but they may better explain the science thing and insights. The Nature Park is peaceful and perfect for a walk and spending time with loved ones, with a refreshing natural vibe. Clean, well-maintained, and good facilities. A must-visit if you’re looking for an educational yet fun day trip.✨

The science city is very huge. You need an entire day to completely see each and every place. Starting from tickets, if you are just a casual visiter; just buy 50 rupees entry tickets and avoide buying packages. You can buy tickets for each and every activity that you want to do from inside. They have GPS system for navigation in the science city. They have QR codes for map which you can scan and have a guide over your visit. They have so many good places but some of them are not in working codition like when i recently visited, the Hall of space had so many instruments not in proper working condition although we had fun. Food court of amul is very good. Cleanliness + Good Food. Some of the activities are overhyped but some are quite good. Nature garden is very good for kids. It has giant chess models but they are broken. Was not able to visit each and every place but it was very happy visit.

Science City of Ahmedabad caters full day fun activities of different types. This is one of the must go places in Ahmedabad with kids. Science city provide variety of amusement areas such aquatic gallery, robotics, nature park, astronomy etc. out of all, aquatic gallery is most visited and liked places for kids. Ticket: there is option of standalone ticket also, however, combo ticket suits the best. There is option of golfcart inside the premises. Ambiance of astronomy is also good. There is cafeteria also inside science city, which provides delicious meal as well as snacks at affordable price.

Science City, Ahmedabad is an excellent place for kids! The aquarium was amazing — with a huge variety of beautifully displayed fishes, almost matching the level of Singapore’s aquarium. The musical fountain show and the astronomy section were also wonderful. We had limited time but still enjoyed it a lot. A must-visit for families — kids can learn so much about aquatic and marine life while having fun! 🌊✨
Natasha J — Google review
We took the kids to Science City, and they had an absolute blast! It’s a great spot for children, full of fun, interactive science activities that keep them busy and curious. However, it was really hot when we visited. There’s hardly any shade or proper seating, which makes it tiring for adults. They should definitely add more trees, shaded areas, and benches for visitors to rest. It is a bit far from the main city, but Ahmedabad’s traffic is usually light, so getting there wasn’t a big hassle. Parking is ample, which is a plus. There’s only one small food place inside, and honestly, there are more food options available outside the premises. It would be great if they added more choices for snacks and meals inside, especially for families spending several hours there. Overall, the kids had a wonderful time, but adults might find it less interesting and a bit exhausting. Take your kids, let them enjoy, and be ready for a hot day!
Suresh M — Google review
I had the chance to visit this amazing place back in 2012 during a school trip, and it still remains one of the most memorable experiences of my childhood. From the moment we entered, there was a sense of excitement and curiosity — everything around felt futuristic and full of wonder. The entire setup was designed to spark interest in science and technology, and for students like us, it was both fun and educational. One of the highlights of the visit was the 3D movie experience. Watching those visuals in 3D for the first time was thrilling — it truly felt like we were part of the action! The science behind the effects was fascinating, and it made learning feel so effortless. The movie hall itself was well-maintained, and the staff guided everyone with enthusiasm, making sure every group enjoyed the show. Another unforgettable part was the Space Shuttle and the entire space-themed section. The realistic models, astronaut suits, and simulations gave a glimpse into how space missions work. It felt like stepping into a real space center. For a student, seeing such technology up close was inspiring and made me appreciate the world of science even more. Apart from that, there were so many interactive exhibits — from energy zones to robotics and communication technology — all designed to make complex topics easy to understand. Each section had something interesting to try or watch, keeping everyone engaged throughout the day. The outdoor areas were also great for relaxing between visits to different pavilions. I still remember the joy of exploring with friends, taking pictures, and talking excitedly about what we learned. The entire place had a perfect blend of fun and education, which made the trip truly special. Even after all these years, that visit still stands out as one of the best educational trips I’ve been on. It was not just about sightseeing — it was about experiencing science in a way that stayed with me long after the visit. A place that truly ignites curiosity and makes learning an adventure!

There are 3 major labs to visit, Aquarium, Robotics, Astronomy... The ticket price for each is Rs. 200, but you can take the combo for some savings. I visited Aquarium and Robotics labs, the aquarium lab is nice with a wide variety of fish and marine culture, I would recommend it to visit. The Robotics lab is waste of time, all the robots are very basic, that too many didn't function as expected. Waste of time and money. You can try the Astronomy lab instead of it. The best thing was IMAX 3D screen, don't miss it at all, it's the largest IMAX screen not only in India, but in complete Asia. Truly exceptional experience.

Rani no Hajiro, also known as Mughalai Bibis Tomb, is a historic tomb complex in Ahmedabad that dates back to the time of Ahmed Shah and other Gujarat Sultanate rulers. This elaborate structure is adorned with intricate mother-of-pearl and metal work and serves as the final resting place for the queens of the empire.
I recently visited Rani no Hajiro in Ahmedabad, which is a great place for shopping. You can find beautiful traditional clothes, jewellery, and accessories at very good prices. After shopping, I went to Manekchowk, which is very famous for street food. I tried Mahalaxmi Bhajipav, sandwich, and the popular gotala dosa. everything was delicious! The place is full of energy at night and perfect for food lovers.

“Rani no Hajiro: A Hidden Gem in Ahmedabad” Rani no Hajiro is a beautiful yet underrated historical site tucked away in the bustling Manek Chowk food area. It’s a hidden gem surrounded by local residences and the lively old bazaar, offering a unique blend of history and everyday life. What Makes It Special: • Intricate Architecture: The beautiful windows with intricate carvings and neglected yet charming structures give it a timeless aura. It’s a treat for architecture enthusiasts and photographers. • Hidden Location: The site is well-hidden and not overly crowded, adding to its charm as a peaceful escape amidst the chaos of Manek Chowk. Things to Note: • Neglect and Maintenance: Unfortunately, the structures are not well-maintained, and the surrounding area can feel a bit neglected. • Accessibility: You can’t take your car here—it’s best to park on the main road and explore the area on foot. Walking through the narrow lanes of the old bazaar is an experience in itself. • Ask for Directions: Don’t rely solely on Google Maps. It’s better to ask locals for directions, as the area can be tricky to navigate. Tips: • Combine your visit with a stroll through the old bazaar and enjoy the food and vibe of Manek Chowk. • Be prepared for some walking, and take your time exploring this hidden slice of Ahmedabad’s history. If you’re a lover of history and hidden treasures, Rani no Hajiro is worth the visit despite its challenges. It’s a glimpse into the city’s rich past amidst its thriving present!

Rani no Hajiro: A Hidden Gem for Unique Accessories (with a Caveat) Rani no Hajiro in Ahmedabad might not impress you at first glance. The historical monument itself appears somewhat shabby. However, look beyond the exterior and you'll discover a hidden gem for unique women's accessories. Treasure Trove of Trinkets The area surrounding the tomb is a haven for budget-friendly shopping. Here, you'll find a variety of shops selling everything from stunning handcrafted accessories (starting as low as ₹50!) to beautiful dupattas and chaniya cholis. The selection is truly impressive, and I personally found myself drawn to the unique pieces, ultimately leaving with a collection worth ₹2,000. I would again reiterate my stand- Google should remove star rating for religious /historical places. Because you can not rate and compare them, it's different than hotel, food items, shops, restaurant. Rani no Hajiro is located in old Ahmedabad, It is known as Mughalai Bibi's Tomb or Tombs of Ahmed Shah's Queens, in simple words it's a tomb complex. I must say architecture is really good, with fine pillars and craving on walls and windows and even pillars. But unfortunately this place is not preserved properly, it's in very poor condition few people have encroached inside and outside of complex, kids playing cricket inside, people sleeping at entrance, How will tourist come to such places ??? no attention and proper information displayed by ASI despite the site is around 500 years old. It's shocking. We need to preserve our history we can't change it. Even if we don't like it. Must visit for all. If more tourists come may be ASI will pay more attention, Best way is to charge 25 Rs as a entry ticket.

Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad is a must-visit destination, offering a variety of attractions and activities. The iconic Sabarmati Ashram, located on the river's shores, is a significant historical site where Mahatma Gandhi spent several years. It now serves as a museum showcasing objects related to India's fight for independence. The riverfront promenade features parks, boating facilities, zip-line amusements, and markets.
Narmada river front is an absolute beauty. It seems like we are in a European country. Best time is to visit in evening or after sunset and take a stroll here. They are provide rented bicycle, scooter and even stakes to enjoy with friends and family. Amazing place and a must visit for everyone coming to visit Ahmedabad.

I went to Sabarmati Riverfront early in the morning during my exam days, and it turned out to be a very relaxing experience. The place is calm, the sound of the river waves is very soothing, and the cool morning breeze makes it even better. Ahmedabad can be quite hot, so visiting this place in the morning felt really peaceful. There’s a metro station around 2 km away, so it’s also easy to reach. The main riverfront area is open 24/7, but if you want to visit the Atal Bridge or garden area, they open after 9 AM. There are trees all around, and you can even find bicycles nearby to ride, though they are a bit costly. Still, it’s a good experience, especially for visitors from outside the city. Overall, a great spot for a quiet walk or just to sit and relax in the fresh air.

The riverfront is very beautiful and it is very peaceful during non-peak hours. I visited during early morning hours and I saw people cycling and jogging on the promenade. The river was very calm and greenery was lush. The infrastructure developed by the government there is very well maintained. The walking space is huge and very picturesque. The long riverfront offers ample space to exercise, cycle, run and walk. The place is also clean and not littered by plastic. I also saw a river cleaning boat gathering trash that was thrown in river during early hours.

The area is well-maintained and clean, with seating arrangements and walking paths along the river, making it ideal for spending time with family and friends. You can enjoy the breeze, watch birds, and simply relax while taking in the scenic views. e Sabarmati Riverfront is a major urban revitalization project in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, that transformed a neglected riverfront into a public recreational space with parks, gardens, promenades, event venues, and improved infrastructure. The project, which began in 2005, created public riverfront land by channeling the river, enabling year-round water management, reducing pollution, and providing a space for recreation, public events, and improved traffic flow. It features a two-level promenade, cycling paths, and public seating, and has become a venue for events like the International Kite Festival.

Amdavad Ni Gufa is a renowned art gallery in the city, known for its contemporary and cavernous design. The space was designed by the celebrated architect Balkrishna V Doshi and features artwork by legendary Indian artist Maqbool Fida Husain. The gallery's unique cave-like structure makes it stand out among modern architecture in India, with interconnected domes supported by tree-like pillars.
A unique underground art gallery with a very creative and peaceful vibe. The architecture is unlike anything else dome-shaped, cave-like, and beautifully lit. Showcases modern art in a truly unusual setting. Worth a visit if you’re into art, design, or just something different in the city.
Kirtan S — Google review
Not far from Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum is this interesting sculptural dome-like structures sticking out from the ground. It reminded me of Gaudi’s famous buildings in Barcelona. Beneath this structure is an art space for events and exhibitions. Unfortunately during my visit, there was nothing going on. It’s still worth checking out since I was already at Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum. About 10 minutes walk. Note the opening hours between both places to plan your visit. Entry is free when I was there.
Victor K — Google review
The Amdavad ni Gufa was built during my final years at CEPT, a time when it captured the imagination of every student. Its cave-like form was mesmerizing, not just for its concept but also for its unconventional construction techniques, particularly the use of ferrocement. Colleagues who had worked at B.V. Doshi’s office shared fascinating insights—Doshi, the visionary Pritzker Prize-winning architect, would often sketch directly on-site, and the team would build from those sketches. The steps leading to the Gufa’s entrance, they say, were first marked directly on the ground, constructed, and only then documented into drawings. The shimmering china mosaic domes were a source of fascination for students. It was commonly referred to as the "Doshi-Hussain Gufa," though originally named "Hussain-Doshi Gufa" before it was dedicated to the people of Ahmedabad and rechristened "Amdavad ni Gufa." At the back, a door and pathway evoke images of Indus Valley Civilization structures unearthed at Lothal and Mohenjodaro, with a ramp descending into the earth. The intricate designs on the door grills add to its enigmatic charm. A building with no defined purpose—simply a place to sit, read, and reflect. M.F. Hussain had painted spontaneous, sketch-like figures on the interior domes, though nothing substantial. Some of his cutout drawings remain, adding to the ambiance. Children are particularly enthralled by the mysterious structure. For years, they were allowed to play atop the domes, but recently, this has been restricted to preserve the aging china mosaic. A marvel of architecture, the Gufa stands strong—though perhaps in the near future, it may require thoughtful restoration to preserve its legacy.

Nice place to hangout with friends. It is a unique and the most weird place that I have ever witnessed. There is as cafe then there is an art gallery and then we have this mini cave like thing! 😂 Well I was just a visitor to Ahmedabad, and I have no clue what exactly that place was or should be called! Others can let me know for the same!

I visited Amdavad ni Gufa out of curiosity, and while it was interesting, it didn't totally blow me away. The architecture is unique - like an underground art cave - and it's cool to see something so different in the middle of the city. The combination of B.V. Doshi's design and M.F. Husain's artwork gives it a lot of cultural value, and it's great for people who are into modern art or unusual spaces. The place felt a bit under-maintained, and there wasn't much context or information about the art inside. It's a quick visit - maybe 20-30 minutes - unless you're into taking photos or sketching. Also, the lighting inside can be too dim to properly appreciate the artwork. The area around the Gufa is nice though, with a chill café and a creative vibe thanks to nearby students and artists.

The campus is nice. It's gate opposite to Gujarat University gate. I heard that it is designed by M F Husein. As I could read, only children are allowed . I stayed there in the campus for whole day. It remain closed for 3 consecutive days. From outside it looks artistic.
Bharat D — Google review
The Gufa is one helluva tourist spot and because of this, a lot of people come to visit and the place inside isn't well ventilated. This makes the space so hot and humid it's impossible to stay inside. Don't know if that's how the space was designed or being maintained in. Sad but still hoards of people come to view and eat in the cafe. Toodooloo

Art Museums
The Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum, located within the LD Institute of Indology, is a treasure trove of ancient and medieval Indian art and artifacts. Visitors can marvel at Jain, Hindu, and Buddhist deities crafted in marble, bronze, and stone.
During 1956, Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Institute of Indology was established with the joint efforts of Shri. Kasturbhai Lalbhai, a wellknown and prominent Ahmedabad based industrialist, and Jain Acharya Muni. Punyavijayji. Muni. Punyavijayji donated his personal collection of illustrated and un-illustrated manuscripts, bronzes and cloth paintings at time at the establishment of Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Indological Institute. With the passage of time the collection grew more and more prominent which created a need for an exclusive display of the artifacts. Thus, in 1984 a new building adjacent to the L.D. Institute of Indology was built by internationally acclaimed architect Shri. Balakrishna Doshi. The L.D. Museum was formally inaugurated by Shri. Brajkumar Nehru, the then Governor of Gujarat in 1985. Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum is open from 10:30 AM in the morning till 5:30 PM in the evening on all days except for Mondays and public holidays. For group visits, the museum has to be informed earlier and can take a guided tour. There is no entry fee to visit Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum. This houses a significant collection of Jain art, including sculptures, scrolls, manuscripts, and miniature paintings. Its architecture, designed by renowned architect Balkrishna Doshi, is notable for its integration of modernist and brutalist elements, with a focus on natural light and ventilation. The Lalbhai Dalpatbhai (LD) Museum in Ahmedabad, India, is a case study in museum design and its connection to the preservation and display of cultural heritage Overall a very enriching experience. Must visit.

A Hidden Gem of Art & History in Ahmedabad! The Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum is a must-visit if you're interested in Indian art, sculpture, manuscripts, or architecture. It's located inside the Gujarat University campus and offers a peaceful, well-maintained space with free entry. What stood out most were the ancient sculptures, beautifully preserved Jain manuscripts, and rare miniature paintings. The coin gallery and wooden artifacts are also fascinating. The place is Quiet and uncrowded. Extremely clean and well-curated. If you are lucky, you might find some peacock 🦚. I was told that there were Free guided tours available (ask at the desk) No photography in some galleries, so check signs. Whether you're a history lover or just curious, this museum offers a deep dive into Gujarat's artistic and spiritual traditions in a peaceful setting. Definitely worth a couple of hours!

I took my time to slowly walk and admire the beautiful historical collections of ancient arts and statues at this unassuming grey concrete museum. There were hardly anyone there except the workers when I was there. I was told no photography on the lower floor but fine on the upper floor. Hopefully I’ve heard the security guard correctly due to our communication barrier. There is a wide range of sculptures of different styles of Indian heritage. My favourite part of the museum is a wide collection on Gujarati Jaina style paintings with early manuscripts painted on palm leaves. Entry is free.

Kamla Nehru Zoological Garden, also known as Kankaria Zoo, is a wildlife park located in Ahmedabad. Established in 1951, it spans across 117 acres and is home to over 450 animals, 2000 birds, and 140 reptiles. The zoo features albino animals and endangered bird species. Visitors can also enjoy attractions like an amusement park, children's park, toy train, and balloon safari within the premises.
I had a great time visiting Kankaria Zoo in Ahmedabad! The zoo is well-maintained, with a good variety of animals, including lions, tigers, leopards, and many exotic birds. The enclosures are spacious, and the zoo is clean and organized, making it a great place for families and kids. The location near Kankaria Lake adds to the overall experience. However, I noticed that many visitors were not following zoo protocols—some were disturbing animals and throwing garbage around. The zoo staff needs to be stricter in enforcing rules to ensure a better environment for both animals and visitors. Despite this, it's still a great place to explore and learn about wildlife! The kamla nehru zoological garden it's mind blowing zoo I really like this zoo here Lion tiger leopard elephant jackal deer sea horse different species of birds etc are all found here. It is very fun to come here with family as there are many activities for small children too. Tickets are only ₹50 and entry gate is 3 Kankaria lake is also located next to the zoo and a mini train is also found there.

The zoo is spacious, clean, and well-organized with a good variety of animals and birds. From majestic lions and tigers to colorful parrots and playful monkeys, there’s so much to see. The enclosures are well-maintained, and most animals appear healthy and active. It’s a great place for kids to learn about wildlife, and the information boards near each enclosure are helpful. The environment feels safe, and ticket prices are very reasonable. The zoo is also part of the larger Kankaria Lake complex, so you can enjoy multiple activities in one visit. A perfect spot for a fun and educational day out! Highly recommended when visiting Kankaria.

Visited Kamla Nehru Zoological Garden, Ahmedabad on the weekend. The entry ticket is just ₹50 per person, which makes it very budget-friendly. The zoo is spacious, green, and well-maintained with a good variety of animals. Saw the crocodile basking in the sun and the tiger in its enclosure – both were amazing sights! 🐊🐅 Walking paths are shaded and family-friendly. Affordable ticket price. A good outing spot for kids and families. Suggestion: Information boards for animals could be updated, and more drinking water points would make the visit even better. Overall, a great place to spend a few hours in nature and learn about wildlife.
Omkar G — Google review
The zoo is good but it needs maintenance. Many of the animals cages were old and in bad condition. You can see lots of animals and the surrounding greenery is amazing. You can even hear lots of birds chirping and if lucky you can even spot a peacock in open. They go have big coolers for animals to have some cool air.
Binal H — Google review
-Impolite staff (ticket checking person especially) -Bad smell everywhere -Animals does not seem like happy and comfortable -no proper route or guidance for paths (there is map but no clear indication of where to start and where to go) -Poorly maintained infrastructure -Guide and tell people how to behave with animals. There were so many people teasing and making noise to animals. There should be someone who could maintain civic sense among visitors. My suggestion - free all these animals to their natural habitat. They should not be in cage. Human don’t have to see animals for sale of entertainment. If that is not possible at least maintain and take care of them properly. Hope management take note of this and improve. And consider improving the image of this such important tourist attraction of Ahmedabad.
Tilak T — Google review
It's a very large zoo with the evolution of the world 3D designs made up on the wall of the museum-at the entrance. Entry ticket is Rs.50 per head. Very green and neatly maintained. Worth the hype.

Kankariya Zoo is one of the most beautiful and well-maintained zoological parks in Gujarat. The place covers a huge area with plenty of greenery all around, making it a perfect spot for families, children, and nature lovers. There are a large number of animals and birds to see — from majestic lions and tigers to playful monkeys and colorful birds. The zoo is clean, spacious, and provides a pleasant environment to spend quality time close to nature. The walking paths are well-marked, and the overall management of the zoo is impressive. It’s a great place for both education and recreation, as visitors can learn about wildlife while enjoying a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by trees and gardens. Suggestion: One small improvement could be made for the elephants — during my visit, I noticed that water was not available near them and they were tied with a steel chain, which didn’t seem comfortable. Providing a water facility and more freedom for movement would make their living condition much better. Overall, Kankariya Zoo is a must-visit attraction in Ahmedabad for its huge area, variety of animals, and lush greenery.

Nice Darshan of all deities. Needs little disciplined arrangement on Saturday as there is heavy rush to offer prayers to Kashta Bhanjan Dev. A divider needs to be placed for Gents and Ladies devotees in addition to a guard. At times, people just rush from the crowd without queue to offer bhent and oil to Hanumanji. Bai Harir Vav in Ahmedabad is an ancient underground stepwell dating back to the 15th century. It is named after Dhai Harir, the superintendent of Sultan Mahmud Begada's harem. The stepwell features elaborate carvings, cascading steps, and cool waters. Visitors can admire the intricate motifs and ornate columns as they descend into its depths.
Beautiful and historic stepwell with impressive architecture. The intricate carvings showcase amazing craftsmanship. It’s a peaceful spot perfect for history lovers.Could use better maintenance in some areas, and the signage is limited, making it a bit confusing to navigate. Facilities like restrooms are minimal.
Vidula P — Google review
This ancient wonder was probably built to access underground water table is an understatement. It is no mean achievement to go five to six stories underground and build something like an ornate mall-like structure in an era absolutely devoid of heavy machinery, earth movers and electricity. A treat to the eyes stands here built just purely relying on human ingenuity and hard labour. It truly is one of the architectural wonders and marvels. It is nice to see it's well preserved and also maintained despite the dense population surrounding it. It would be nice if the water in the well is used regularly so that it doesn't become stagnant and murky.
RAKESH M — Google review
The Dada Harir Stepwell, also known as the Bai Harir Stepwell, is an architectural masterpiece tucked away in Ahmedabad. The dual naming can be a little confusing but they both refer to the same incredible structure, built during the late 15th century by Bai Harir, a noblewoman and patron of architecture. This stepwell is a beautiful example of how simplicity, symmetry, and craftsmanship come together to create something timeless. The design is extremely well thought out it is symmetrical, geometric, and harmonious with carefully carved pillars, corridors, and stairways that descend deep into the earth. During my visit, it had just rained heavily, so the steps were a bit slippery so it’s something to be cautious of if you're visiting during or after the monsoon. But that didn’t take away from the experience at all. In fact, the moisture added a certain mystique to the already atmospheric structure. What really stands out is the sheer precision with which it was built. Every detail feels intentional, from the angles of the steps to the proportions of the pillars. It’s a great example of sustainable water architecture from centuries ago, yet it still leaves you in awe today. Whether you're a history buff, a photographer, or simply someone who appreciates thoughtful design, this stepwell is absolutely worth a visit. Just make sure to wear good footwear if it’s been raining!
ASWATHIII R — Google review
A truly mesmerizing experience! I was completely amazed by the way Bhai Harir Vav is built. The stepwell goes deep underground with such perfect symmetry and incredible stone carvings that it feels like a masterpiece frozen in time. The craftsmanship, the arches, and the detailed designs on every level show the brilliance of the builders centuries ago. Standing inside, you can feel the coolness and admire how thoughtfully it was designed for both utility and beauty. An architectural wonder and definitely one of the must-visit heritage gems of Ahmedabad! Just beside the vav, there is a beautiful old mosque that perfectly complements the heritage charm of the place. The stone work and calm atmosphere inside the masjid make it worth visiting along with the stepwell. It adds another layer of history and peace to the experience.

Bai Harir Vav, also known as the Bai Harir Stepwell, is a stunning example of Indo-Islamic architecture located in Ahmedabad. Built in the 15th century, it served as a crucial water reservoir during a time of drought and showcases remarkable engineering. Highlights for Visitors: Architecture: The stepwell features intricate carvings, pillars, and arches, highlighting the craftsmanship of the period. The detailed stonework and geometric patterns are particularly impressive. Historical Significance: It reflects the engineering ingenuity of the time and is a testament to the importance of water conservation in arid regions. Photography: The unique structure, especially when illuminated by sunlight filtering through the arches, provides excellent photography opportunities. Photography not permitted inside the mosque. Atmosphere: Bai Harir Vav offers an environment, ideal for exploration on non crowded days. Tips for Visiting: Best Time to Visit: Early morning or late afternoon is ideal for pleasant weather and better lighting for photos. Access: Be prepared for many stairs, unsafe ledges and uneven surfaces, as it's a stepwell with multiple levels. Many restrictions in the mosque area. Respect the Space: As a historical site, visitors should maintain decorum and respect the site's integrity. Entry is free although a person inside asks for "tips" apparently. Beautiful architecture. Much of the stone work is still fully intact. The mosque alongside alos has amazing stone carving. Its a bit away from main sites and the location isn't the best, but definitely worth visiting. One of the few places to figure Sanskrit with Persian and Islamic motifs with images of hindu gods and bells. Free to visit. Lovely place in the bustling city of Ahmedabad! It's a place not known by many. And probably that's good because there is little crowd there. But wait, it is crowded by lot of llangurs. Probably the most I have seen at any place. The architecture is beautiful and it has 5 storey to it. We could only go till the 3rd storey beneath the ground.

Teen Darwaja, a remarkable stone gateway dating back to the 1400s, was constructed by Ahmad Shah and is steeped in legendary tales. This iconic site serves as a starting point for an enchanting walking tour that meanders through Ahmedabad's historical heart. The journey takes you from the Calico Dome to significant landmarks like the Sidi Aiyed Mosque and Bhadra Fort, culminating at the exquisite wooden haveli in Lakha Patel ni Pol.
Constructed by Sultan Ahmad Shah I, the founder of Ahmedabad, between approximately 1411 and 1415 . An outstanding example of Indo-Islamic architecture, it comprises three majestic arches: the central arch spans 17 ft (≈5.2 m), flanked by two side arches each 13 ft (≈4 m) wide, all towering 25 ft (~8.25 m) in height Originally roofed, the terrace was opened up following restoration in 1877, creating an elevated platform where rulers held court, reviewed troops, and welcomed dignitaries Positioned on the east side of Bhadra Fort, it once served as a grand entrance to the royal Maidan Shahi courtyard In 1459, the young Sultan Mahmud Begada, barely fifteen, bravely marched out with just 300 horsemen through the gateway to quell a rebellion of 30,000 nobles, demonstrating valor and strategic finesse The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation notes Teen Darwaza as a distinctive heritage symbol—and even features it in its official emblem In 1812, Maratha governor Chimanaji Raghunath engraved a powerful decree on one of the arches, in Devanagari script, affirming that daughters have equal right to ancestral property. deeply moving legend tells of Goddess Lakshmi (wealth and prosperity) attempting to leave the city, only to be stopped by Khwaja Siddique Kotwal, the watchman. To prevent her departure, he sacrificed himself, prompting her to stay—and ensuring Ahmedabad’s prosperity In his honor, a lamp (akhand diya) has been burning continuously for over 600 years, tended by his descendants, as a symbol of devotion and unity temples. “There has been a lamp which is 'Akhand Diya'… lit in remembrance of Khwaja Siddique.” Check My YT Channel - BPS Chauhan VLOGS for Travel & History

ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும் dt 22-03-25. Do Not Travel to Gujarat from March to July, the heat is very very very High. The cab driver took us to this wonderful historical landmark in Gujarat. It is called the Teen Darwaja, one of few Darwaja in Gujarat. There are many historical wonderful doors (gates) in various parts of north India, namely "Buland Darwaza". "Roomi Darwaza", "Kote Gate" "Delhi gate" etc but none in south India. Teen Darwaza was built somewhere in the 1411-1442 period. The buttress on either side of the main entrance is beautifully carved and adds wonderful touch to the Dwaraja. We felt very happy that we were able to see something built in a different time period. It was so nice to see that the Darwaja still stands so strong and wonderful even though it was built some 600 years back. It is present in the old Ahmedabad area and in a very congested market area, but we were lucky because the driver took us before 10 am before the market opens. Though we read but could not see the eternal lamp which is being lit daily in the teen Darwaja, as a symbol of a legend associated with Goddess Lakshmi and it is being done since last 600 years by a Muslim family. They say there is an inscription by Maratha governor Chimnaji Raghunath has been inscribed on Teen Darwaja, which declares, equal rights to women in heritance of ancestral property. One of the most iconic monument in the old Ahmedabad, city and definitely a must visit if you are in this area.

When you walk to the other side...you find RATANPOLE shopping market with more than 1500 shops selling vide dresses,, materials, sarees and specializes for wedding collection. The night glare is awesome.

Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kalupur is a vibrant Hindu temple located in the Old City of Ahmedabad. This 19th-century temple is dedicated to the Hindu deity Nar-Narayan Dev and features intricate wooden carvings depicting auspicious symbols, mythical animals, religious icons, and historical events. A very peaceful and divine place to visit. The temple architecture is beautiful and well-maintained, offering a serene atmosphere away from the city’s noise. Sitting here instantly brings a sense of calm and positivity. The devotees and staff are very humble and helpful, making the experience even more special. ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும் dt 22-03-25. Do Not Travel to Gujarat from March to July, the heat is very very very High. Basic dress code is a must to visit this temple. Right from the time we started the trip we were telling people that we wanted to go this Swaminarayan temple in kalupur, since we read a little about this temple and seen some wonderful photographs of this temple in the net. We visited this temple early in the morning on our onward trip, wow wow wow, everything about the temple was simply beautiful, wonderful, awesome. The wonderful gold plated 3 Sanctums, the beautifully decorated arches inside the temple, the wonderful spires on top, the huge arched entrance gate, the courtyard with pigeons moving around and most importantly the way every one was singing the wonderful bhajan like song in the morning. We didn't understand the language, but we were kind stunned to see each every one who was there singing the bhajan and that too by heart. Damn... that was simply awesome. It was so different and nice to see how the locals prostrated infront of each of the 3 sanctums so many times, that we also started to do it, along with them. The visit on our onward journey had such an impact that we wanted to visit the temple again, so in our return trip back to ahmedabad we requested the driver that we wanted to visit this temple again and he happily took us there. It was something so emotional so touching so wonderful for us. Don't know much about this sect of Hinduism, apart from the fact that this sect was founded and head by Shri Swaminarayan ji and this temple kalupur was the first temple that was built under the direct supervision of Shri swaminarayan ji himself in 1822 A.D. Temple construction is very different from that of the south india, but we noticed the 3 sanctums were facing north. They do have separate enclosures for men and women to pray. Definitely a must visit temple if you are in Ahmedabad.

Abhi T — Google review
Stepping into the Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple, also known as the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, is like entering a realm where spirituality, history, and architectural brilliance converge. As one of the most revered temples of the Swaminarayan Sampraday, this sacred place holds immense significance for devotees and history enthusiasts alike. Having visited this temple multiple times, I am eager to share a detailed account of its grandeur, traditions, and unique features. Historical Significance: A Legacy of Faith The Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple holds the distinction of being the first temple ever constructed by the Swaminarayan Sampraday, established under the direct guidance of Lord Swaminarayan Himself. The foundation was laid in 1822, and the temple was consecrated in 1825. What makes this temple even more special is that it was built during a time when constructing such grand Hindu temples was rare under British rule. The temple stands as a testament to the devotion of the followers and the divine vision of Lord Swaminarayan. The intricate carvings and the majestic structure reflect the Maru-Gurjara architectural style, reminiscent of ancient Indian temple designs. The use of Burmese teakwood, intricate stone carvings, and the stunning Haveli-style craftsmanship make it a masterpiece of religious architecture. The Temple Layout: A Blend of Devotion and Discipline One of the most striking aspects of the temple is its well-organized structure, designed to maintain sanctity and discipline while accommodating thousands of devotees. 1. The Main Temple (Brahmasthan) – For Men and Brahmin Priests The central shrine houses the murtis (idols) of Lord Swaminarayan, Radha-Krishna, Dharmadev-Bhakti Mata, and Harikrishna Maharaj. The Brahmasthan (main sanctum) is where the Brahmin priests (Brahmacharis and Sadhus) perform daily rituals, including Mangla Aarti, Shangar Aarti, Rajbhog Aarti, and Sandhya Aarti. - Men’s Section: Male devotees can enter the main temple area to offer prayers and witness the rituals up close. - Strict Discipline: The temple maintains a no-shoes, no-phones policy inside the sanctum to preserve its sacredness. 2. Separate Temple for Women – Ensuring Comfort and Respect Understanding the need for privacy and convenience for female devotees, the temple has a separate shrine exclusively for women. This is particularly helpful when the main temple is crowded or when Brahmacharis (celibate monks) are performing rituals, as women can still have a peaceful darshan in their dedicated space. - Women’s Worship Area: Located adjacent to the main temple, this section has beautifully adorned murtis where women can sit, pray, and participate in bhajans without restrictions. - Balanced Tradition: This system ensures that while the main temple follows strict monastic rules, women still have full access to worship in a respectful environment. Other Notable Features: 1. Nar Narayan Dev Temple: Adjacent to the main shrine, this section is dedicated to Nar-Narayan, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, symbolizing the ideal Guru-Shishya relationship. 2. Gadhada Temple: A replica of the original Gadhada temple where Lord Swaminarayan performed many divine acts. 3. Akshar Bhavan: A spiritual center where discourses and religious gatherings take place. 4. Annakut (Food Offering Hall): The temple serves prasadam (sanctified food) to devotees, especially during festivals. Festivals and Daily Rituals The temple comes alive during major festivals like: - All the Major fests Observed by Swaminarayan sect - Diwali - Holi (as per Vaishnav traditions) - Annakut (New Year’s Day) Daily rituals include Aarti ceremonies, kirtans (devotional songs), and scriptural readings that create a deeply meditative atmosphere And my last point would be hygien outside the temple It's bit off Avoid eating outside temple You might get sick Area smells really bad

Adalaj Ni Vav, also known as Adalaj Stepwell, is a 520-year-old architectural marvel located in Gujarat's Adalaj. Constructed in 1499 by Queen Rudabai in memory of her late husband, Rana Veer Singh, this step well features a spiral stairway leading down five levels adorned with intricately carved pillars and arches.
5 star for historical place. 3 star for government and local body for conserving our heritage. Good try but still improvement needed. Doesn't have dedicated parking, but easy to park 4 wheelers nearby. Negligible entry fee is there. You can purchase offline as well as from indian archeological website. Good garden space to sit and chit chat with friends & family. Visited In: October, 2025 Thanks for your time.

The Adalaj stepwell or 'Vav', as it is called in Gujarati, is intricately carved and is five stories deep. It was built in 1498. An inscription in Sanskrit establishes the history of the Adalaj stepwell found on a marble slab positioned in a recess on the first floor, from the eastern entry to the well. It is in the typical style of the Gujarat sultanate, built in 1499 in the reign of Mahmud Begada. In the 15th century, Rana Veer Singh of the Vaghela dynasty, a Hindu ruler, reigned over this territory known as Dandai Desh. His kingdom was a small one. It was subject to water shortage and was highly dependent on the rains. To alleviate the misery of his people, the Rana began the construction of a large and deep stepwell. Before this project could be completed, his kingdom was attacked by Mohammed Begda, the Muslim ruler of a neighboring kingdom. The Rana king was killed in battle, and Mohammed Begda occupied his territory. Rana Veer Singh's widow, a beautiful lady, known as Rani Roopba (or Roodabai), wanted to commit suicide and join her husband in the afterlife. However, Begada prevented her from giving up her own life and proposed marriage with the dowager. She agreed to a marriage proposal on the condition that he would first complete the building of the stepwell. The Muslim king, who was deeply enamored of the queen's beauty, agreed to the proposal and built the well in record time. Once the well was completed, Begda reminded the queen of her promise to marry him. Instead, the queen who had achieved her objective of completing the stepwell started by her husband decided to end her life. She circumambulated the stepwell with prayers and jumped into the well, ending the saga of building the well in tragedy.

My go to place whenever I drive past Ahemedabad. Been regularly visiting this sandstone marvel since last 25 years. Had discovered this gem during my Wind Turbine Project near Jamanagar which required visiting Ahemedabad, Rajkot and drive to Rajasthan via Ahemedabad. Built in 12th century by Solanki dynasty. The decorative motifs all over, intricately carved Jharokha at entrance is now closed for the visitors. It was always fun to get into that and take pictures. This visit I was fortunate to have met Shri. GOSWAMI the knowledgeable guide who first guided me through this well compounded Archaeological site. He explained to me various Jatak stories, engraved in the सभा मंडप along with Ramayana depictions. A lady giving birth in a squatting position was an eye opener to advanced medical awareness of those times. A Cafe and a hotel bang opposite the main entrance are the new additions over last two decades. Also a light & sound show around 7pm. Must visit for all who love and want to learn more about Indology.

The place is nice, but there are some issues that need attention. There is a strong smell downstairs, which makes it uncomfortable. The main concern is the toilet facilities. The toilets are not maintained properly — they smell, and they are not cleaned, and have no water or light inside the main toilet. All three toilet flushes are also not working. If tickets are being charged, then proper facilities should be provided. Toilets must be cleaned regularly, have working flushes, and be equipped with basic necessities.

Located 19 km from Ahmedabad Junction, the Shri Maa Vaishnodevi Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site in Ahmedabad. Built in 2007, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Vaishnodevi and replicates the original temple in Jammu Kashmir. Situated on the Sarkhej - Gandhinagar highway, it features small caves and a man-made hill made of sandstone.
Entry Fee: There is no entry fee to visit the temple. The Shri Maa Vaishnodevi Temple in Ahmedabad is a prominent Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Vaishnodevi, a manifestation of Goddess Durga. Located on National Highway 147 (also known as Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway), it's a significant pilgrimage site in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Here's a summary of its key features: Replica Temple: It's a replica of the original Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to offer devotees a similar spiritual experience. Architecture: The temple is situated on an artificial hillock, simulating the mountain environment of the original shrine. This circular hill is built of yellow sandstone and features intricate carvings and sculptures of various gods and goddesses. Layout: Pilgrims journey through a man-made cave to reach the main shrine at the top of the hill, replicating the experience of visiting the original temple. Significance: It's a popular destination, particularly during the Navratri festival, attracting large numbers of devotees who seek the blessings of Goddess Vaishnodevi. Dress Code: While not strictly enforced, it's advisable to wear modest attire that covers the upper arms and legs as a mark of respect.

A well-constructed temple in Ahmedabad that tries to simulate the tunnel through the rock pathway as in the temple at Katra. Here one has to literally crawl through the tunnel in some places which is a humbling experience. Just like in Katra, you are given a coin. Phones are allowed, but they must be switched off, else the security guard will do it for you! There is one restaurant at the entrance within the complex where one can get hot freshly prepared snacks and two or three shops where packaged food and beverages are available.

1. Visit Overview We visited the temple recently and it turned out to be a truly uplifting spiritual experience. From the moment we arrived, the sacred atmosphere, the surrounding nature, and the calm inside the temple combined to give a sense of peace. The temple grounds are well-kept, the staff and volunteers are welcoming, and the overall vibe is one of reverence and tranquility. 2. Timings & Access The temple is open for darshan from early morning — around 05:00 AM. It typically stays open until about 09:00 PM in the evening. There is a midday break in many sources (for example, temple closes from ~12:00 PM to 4:00 PM) in some seasons. Because you visited recently, you may want to confirm current timings on-site or via the temple’s official information, especially on festival days. 3. Facilities & Visitor Comfort Water facility: As you noted, there is drinking-water provision which is a big plus — especially in a place of pilgrimage where many visitors arrive. Food court & Prasad Ghar: The temple complex has a dedicated food court (for general meals) and a Prasad Ghar (where devotees receive blessed offerings). This clearly adds to convenience and makes the visit comfortable for families and groups. Atmosphere & scenic views: The surroundings are scenic — green, open and peaceful — making it not only a place of worship but also one where you can walk, reflect, and enjoy views. Maintenance & management: Cleanliness, organised queues (if any), and helpful staff add to the good impression. 4. Sacredness & Must-Visit Qualities The temple is clearly a must-visit for anyone in the area seeking a spiritually charged environment. The devotion, the architecture, and the ambiance work together. Because you noticed both good facilities and a holy vibe (not just touristy), it makes it useful for both serious devotees and casual visitors alike. The combination of nature, devotion and practical visitor amenities (water, food, prasad) means it scores on multiple counts. 5. Practical Tips for Visitors Arrive early in the morning if you prefer less crowd and more quiet time. Wear respectful attire — modest, comfortable for walking, especially if the terrain requires a little climb or walking path (as is common for many temples). If you intend to stay for a longer period or for meditation / reflection, check if there are sitting/meditation areas or quiet corners — the scenic surroundings here support it well. – Since there is a food court and prasad hall, you may plan your visit so that lunch (or mid day) is covered on site rather than searching outside. Carry a small water bottle or refill from the facility to stay hydrated. Check for any special event days, festivals or aarti timings if you wish to attend a special ceremony or get a more immersive experience. 6. My Overall Recommendation I would strongly recommend visiting this temple. If you have a few hours or a half-day free, carve out time for this location. You’ll walk away feeling spiritually refreshed, grounded and calm. The good visitor facilities mean you don’t have to compromise comfort for devotion — and the scenic setting means you can take a few minutes just to sit quietly and enjoy the surroundings.

Vaishno Devi Mandir in Ahmedabad is built in 2007 and is dedicated to Goddess Vaishnodevi. This temple is a true replica of the original Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu and Kashmir and is a significant pilgrimage site for devotees in Ahmedabad, offering a similar experience to visiting the original temple. There is no entry fee for entering into the temple. People can visit the temple anytime between 5 am in the morning and 10 pm in the evening. This is near the Vaishno Devi Circle, Near Nirma Institute, Khoraj Cross Road, Sarkhej Gandhinagar Highway Located 14 to 18 kilometres from the Ahmedabad city centre, Vaishno Devi temple can be easily accessed via self-drive or cab or 🛺 auto rickshaw which normally is a 30 minute ride spanning 16 to 18 kms. from Ahmedabad city center. The auto charged me Rs250 one way to the temple. The temple is a replica of the original Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir and is well-managed. The journey to reach the main deity involves caves and irregular rocks, providing an adventurous experience. It gives a feeling of visiting Vaishnodevi Katra. The way up to the main deity involves crawling through cave-like passes, making it difficult for elderly people with knee or back pain to visit. If you are a 4XL person, you may find it challenging to pass through narrow paths. Refreshments, cold drink facilities, parking space, and prasad stalls are available. Overall a good experience.

It was a smaller version of original Maa Vaishnodevi Temple, which is located near Vaishnodevi circle, Ahmedabad. The temple has rest room and food court as well for the outsider people. Free temple parking is also available exactly in front of the main gate of the temple. For going there you must go inside the service road, not possible to go from the main road.

This is a very holy temple. Today, I visited the Vaishno Devi Temple with my family and felt truly blessed. The temple has changed a lot over the years, and its atmosphere feels different now. However, I like all the changes and was happy to receive blessings from all nine forms of Maa Jagdamba.

Hindu temple
Nagardevi Shri Bhadrakali Mata Temple, located within the Azam Khan Sarai palace, is a centuries-old Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Bhadra Kali. The temple houses a black stone statue of the goddess and is believed to be the protector of the city. The tranquil atmosphere within the temple walls is filled with prayers and rhythmic bell sounds, creating a serene energy.
Bhadrakali is an important goddess, mainly worshiped by Hindus, and is a form of Kali. She is considered to be the auspicious and fortunate form of Adi Shakti or Durga, the supreme mother who protects the good, known as Bhadra or Bhadra Bhagavathy. She is worshipped predominently in the South indian state of Kerala and Nashik. In Vaishnavism, Bhadrakali is among the many epithets of Yogamaya, the internal potency of illusion of the supreme preserver deity, Vishnu. In Shaivism, she accompanies Virabhadra, a form of Shiva, as manifestations. The name Bhadra comes from Sanskrit. In Sanskrit, "bhadra" means "auspicious" or "fortunate". Another interpretation traces the name to the Sanskrit root word (Beeja akshara) "bha" and "dra". The letter "bha" signifies "delusion" or "maya", while "dra" is used as a superlative meaning "the most" or "the greatest". Together, "bhadra" may mean "maha maya" or "great delusion". According to Tantra Rahasya, the feminine form of the divine (devi) arose from the north face of Shiva, which is blue and with three eyes. According to Kerala traditions, the events described in the Markandeya Purana associated with Bhadrakali (her slaying of the demon Darika to liberate the universe from evil) took place in Kerala, near Madayi in the Kannur District. She is seen to protect the honour of women and to bestow all spiritual knowledge. According to legends, the Sanskrit poet Kalidasa is believed to have gained mental consciousness due to the divine will of Bhadrakali.

ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும் dt 22-03-25. Do Not Travel to Gujarat from March to July, the heat is very very very High. We didn't even know that there is a Bhadrakali temple here, the driver took us to this temple, and he told us that this is a very ancient temple and a very powerful temple too. We felt very happy and blessed that we were able to set foot inside this temple and also pray to Goddess Bhadrakali mata. They say that this temple was built by the marathas after they defeated the mughal ruler here (not sure if it is the right history). Temple faces east, Bhadrakali mata faces east. Temple is in the old city area and is sort of in a fort or near a fort and a very crowded market place, so parking is totally ruled out.

It's one of the oldest temples of Ahmedabad, people blessed by Nagardevi Bhadrakali here. This is must visit place if you are coming to Ahmedabad. Congested area, four/three wheeler parking is difficult to find out. The Temple committee should work on outside cleanliness and devotees facilities.

Located inside Bhadra Fort, this ancient temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, the guardian deity of Ahmedabad. Believed to have been established during the Solanki dynasty in the 12th century, it holds great religious and historical significance. The temple is a key part of local culture, especially during festivals like Navratri. Recently, the Bhadrakali Nagar Yatra was revived after 614 years, highlighting its enduring importance.

Nice temple located near bhadra fort Bhadra Fort is disappointing as a tourist spot. The fort itself is just a massive entrance with nothing much to explore inside. However, the area outside the fort is bustling with a street shopping market, mainly catering to women. The market is huge but has its downsides. The worst part is the pricing—there's no scope for bargaining, and the prices are unreasonably high. Considering the rates, it's better to invest in branded items instead. Parking is another major issue. Cars have no chance here, and even for bikes, managing to find a spot is a struggle. Overall, it's not worth visiting unless you want to visit Bhadrakali Mata

Indroda Park, located near Gandhinagar in India, is a lush and exotic destination that offers a variety of attractions for nature enthusiasts. The park boasts healthy flora and fauna, including cute animals, birds, and insects. Visitors can explore the zoo, amphitheater, and event centers for academic research. The park's dinosaur museum is particularly popular due to its vast collection of fossilized dinosaur eggs, bones, and footprints.
Indroda Nature Park is a perfect spot for a one-day outing with family and kids. The park is clean, green, and well-maintained. The Dinosaur Park is the main highlight with life-size models and fossil exhibits – very educational and fun for children. The zoo section has a decent variety of animals like deer, crocodiles, birds, and reptiles. There's also a peaceful botanical garden and shaded picnic areas. The walking trails and riverside views are relaxing, and the atmosphere is close to nature. It’s both informative and enjoyable. Do carry your own food and water, as food options are limited. Overall, a great place to spend 3–5 hours amidst nature.

Also, the Dinosaur park is great too for anyone interested. Good parking space, On spot tickets worth Rs..30/person and parking is Rs.30 too. A different world altogether once you enter the main gate.

It is a very nice place for family and friends. You can go inside with just your bag, they don't allow you to take any snack packets, it is for cleanliness and hygiene. It is very green and beautiful too. There is parking and some food but there is no store or shop, there is only a fruit and juice shop. There are lots of peacocks there which are very beautiful. It is very nice to visit there in winters because in summers it is hot and sunny and there is a lot of humidity too.We had a great experience. Everyone should go there.

Title: A vast park for a full day of walking, with a great dose of nostalgia! I have fond memories of visiting Indroda Park as a child, and it was fascinating to visit again as an adult. The park is absolutely vast, so be prepared for a lot of walking on its big trails, which is great if you're looking for exercise. The main draw is the variety of animal sections. The dinosaur statues are still the most iconic part and great for photos. The reptile house is quite impressive, and there's a good section for various mammals. The one part that felt a bit small was the bird section; there weren't as many as I'd expected. There's also a little garden area to sit and relax. It's a great place to spend a good portion of the day, especially with family. Just be prepared for the paid entry tickets and the separate paid parking. It's a classic spot in the city. A nice bonus: there are spots right outside the park to get fresh corn and juice, which is perfect after a long walk!
Sahiiil22 — Google review
The Park is divided into two parts on the banks of river Sabarmati. The western part is known as Indroda Nature Park and the eastern part of the river Sabarmati is known as Wilderness Park. The zoo at INP has animals like leopard, spotted deer, sambar, bluebull, blackbuck, chinkara, jackal, four-horned antelope, crocodile, porcupine, about 180 birds (42 species of birds in the aviary). The Park has about 65 birds which build their nests every year in the wilderness of the park. In the snake park, there are number of venomous and non-venomous snakes.

We love the drive-in experience here! It's so cool to watch movies from your car. We brought our own chairs and had a great time. The only downside was the low picture contrast, which made it hard to see the first 45 minutes of "War 2" since it was a night scene. Otherwise, it's a super fun and unique way to watch a movie!

We have seen so many movies there and it's iconic cinema in Ahmedabad's history But nowadays it's situation is very deteriorated and gutted no toilets are there no food in resturant speakers are tornrd and crashed very much bad condition in cinema. No one is coming there you can see hardly 4-5 cars in theatre where 800 cars used to be there at one time and we took leave after intermission because we can't see anything on screen and hear dialogues properly. Don't go there it's waste of time and money.

Tickets : 80rs/- -> Unique experience of watching a movie in an open-air sitting. Affordable tickets. Option to bring your own food and drinks. Family-friendly environment. Cons are 1) Half of the balcony area's chairs are broken. 2) Somewhat disturbing sound system.

Needs improvement as now a days many movies are coming with dark backgrounds and such movies are not clear in contrast on an outdoor screen. Such prints need enhancement. Also, cleanliness needs to be improved as there were mosquitoes there. But apart from that I would recommend people to visit as it gives a unique experience of an outdoor Cinema screen which is quite a rarity in India.

The Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum, located within the Lalbhai family's former residence, is a treasure trove of diverse art forms. The collection includes Tibetan Thangkas, Company School portraits, Bengal School modernist paintings, as well as works from Persian, Mughal, Deccan, Pahari and Rajasthani schools. Additionally, visitors can admire pre-independence painted postcards and various forms of art such as stone, metal, wood and Bidri.
One of the most extraordinary art museum experiences I’ve ever had. We stumbled upon this place so luckily they could fit us in for the 12 PM tour, but do be sure to book ahead. There are two spaces - the Indigo Gallery and the Hertiage Collection. For the Heritage Collection you must take a guided tour as they keep the lights off most of the time to protect the natural dyes. The Indigo Gallery you can explore by yourself, works well before or after your tour of the Hertiage Collection. Our tour guide was truly fantastic, very smart, kind and an amazing communicator. I learnt so much and it helped to pull together all I have seen in India so far. Both collections were full of stunning world class work, and tucked away in beautiful grounds. It’s nice and cool with some AC and lots of fans inside so a good thing to do during the heat of the day. No photos inside, you have to lock up your bags etc and then hold onto your key for the duration of your visit. A must visit while in Ahmedabad.

I recently visited the Indigo Museum ( kasturbhai lalbhai museum ) and was truly impressed by the creativity and craftsmanship on display. The entire collection is centered around the use of indigo pigment, and it's amazing to see how artists and sculpture artists have used it as their main medium to create such striking pieces. Though the museum is small, each artwork is thoughtfully curated and visually stunning. It offers a unique perspective on indigo as not just a dye, but as an artistic expression. A hidden gem worth visiting if you appreciate art, history, and innovation. Only downside? No phones allowed inside, which was a bit of a bummer for me since I love capturing what inspires me. But at the same time, it forced me to slow down and really take in the details. Definitely worth a visit if you're into art, textiles, or just want to see something different!

Just beside the Calico Museum, this museum is located in the Shahibaug, Ahmedabad. The museum, which is segregated into 2 portions. One is a beautiful bungalow considered as heritage house of Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai restored and turned into a museum which consists of family's collections of antiques. The antiques integrated into the everyday decor. The museum also consists of Indian sculptures, bronzes, manuscripts, paintings, drawings, miniature paintings, woodwork, bead work, and ancient and contemporary coins, which have used in ahmedabad. The main building, a colonial house built in 1905, showcases over a thousand years of Indian art. The selection on display reflects the eclectic nature of the collection. It seeks to balance art historical merit with personal favourites while retaining the essence of the family home. The paintings on view are from a range of traditions and styles, with paintings from the Persian, Mughal, Deccan, Pahari and Rajasthani schools, Tibetan Thangkas, Company School portraits, modernist paintings from the Bengal School, and painted postcards from pre-independent India. Art in stone, metal, wood, and Bidri covers a span of more than a thousand years. In the adjacent building, the Claude Batley house, built in the 1930s, space has been created to house temporary exhibitions, retrospectives of artists, and display of works by young artists. Leaving the beauty of the older building untouched and unmarred, a glass gallery, unique and distinctive, has been added to create extra display space. The complex also has a small amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 250 that can host small performances, musical soirees, talks, and discourses. Thus, with different and changing events being planned throughout the year, we hope to create a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere to draw people for a cultural treat. The white building against the green looks refreshing. The other one is the Arvind Indigo Museum. The museum will serve as both a repository of indigo dye-based objects and a space for artists and makers to explore the applications and uses of indigo across various mediums. Its ultimate aim is to make indigo relevant to contemporary art and craft practices and to thereby revitalise indigo cultivation practices. Overall, the visit to this museum was very much knowledgeable indeed to get a better view of artistically contrasting exploration. For this showcasing this beauty, you will get a proper guide with vast knowledge of the building museum. It is better to book via mail or telephone prior to visiting this place, which doesn't levy any costs for a visit.

As one of the city's heritage gems, it provides a unique contrast to the bustling pol area with its narrow lanes and crowded streets.
The design of the statue is amazing with Kavi Dalpatram sitting ,having the book in his lap and one leg folded. The statue is made from bronze and weighs 120kg. Another exciting feature of the statue is one empty shoe on the floor. It is used for community gatherings.

Dalpatram Dahyabhai Travadi (21 January 1820 – 25 March 1898) was a Gujarati language poet during 19th century in India. He was the father of Nanalal Dalpatram Kavi, a poet. He led social reforms in Ahmedabad, and wrote articles against superstitions, caste restrictions and child marriage. He dealt with the problem of widow remarriage at length in his poem, Vencharitra. In tribute to Dalpatram's work, AMC and citizens of Ahmedabad proposed a memorial at the site of his house, which was destroyed in 1985. With very few references or photographs available, it was very difficult to recreate the house. References were taken from the memories of residents and the architectural design of surrounding houses to create a memorial in the form of facade of the house and statue of Kavi Dalpatram in 2001. In 2001, the memorial became a part of Heritage walk of Ahmedabad. The design of statue was debated before they came up with the idea of Kavi in sitting posture with a book in his lap. The statue is made of bronze and weighs 120 kg.

It is one of the best place of Heritage ahemdabad. And as it is situated in pol area which is generally very crowded, less space to move around. Here you find open place and sitting are either side of it, where you can do any kind of function related to heritage or whatever. Here, you will feel the sense of Dalpatram and heritage of ahmedabad. Here are some of the glimpse of our function, which we did on the day of World heritage day and we performed a Street play on Save Heritage.

The Siddi Bashir Mosque stands out as a unique gem in the realm of religious architecture, particularly when compared to more traditional sites like the Jama Masjid. This mosque is renowned for its remarkable shaking minarets, affectionately referred to as Jhulta Minara. A fascinating phenomenon occurs here: when one minaret is shaken, the other responds with a mesmerizing vibration. Park
Nagina Wadi is a charming manmade island nestled in the heart of Kankaria Lake, offering a delightful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Accessible via a picturesque concrete walkway lined with trees, this garden-themed park invites visitors to explore its lush greenery and partake in various amusement activities. The serene atmosphere is complemented by scenic boat rides on the lake and an enchanting musical fountain that dazzles at night with vibrant laser shows reminiscent of those found in Singapore.
Beautiful and more serene, closer to the lake part of Kankaria Lake. You can either walk around the Kankaria Lake to get to Nagina Wadi or enter from the gate closest to it. Beautiful both ways. Has a bit of the old architectural remains which add to the charm. Good spots to sit in solitude or talk to friends. The highlight is the light and sound show or laser show. Though it last only about 15-20 mins, it's a good attraction. The show timings are in the photo. More than the laser bit of the show, the lighting and fountains are more beautiful.

I visited on a hot Sunday afternoon, so in general except for a few courting couples (entry ₹3), and a few water fowl, there was nothing to see. All the food and water stalls were closed. The place requires a lot of maintenance. It isn't very clean. It is a 15th century construction by a ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. It's promotional literature says: "It is a stunning island garden that symbolises the city’s rich cultural heritage and love for leisure. If you’re looking for a perfect weekend getaway near Ahmedabad, this jaw-dropping attraction with its lush greenery and pleasant surroundings is ideal."

Visited Nagina Wadi during my trip to Kankaria Lake and really loved the overall vibe. The walkway to the island is peaceful, especially in the evening when the lights start coming on. The musical fountain show was surprisingly good — colorful lights, water effects, and music all synced nicely. It’s a great spot to just sit and relax away from the crowd. The place is clean and well-kept. Definitely a good place to visit if you're at Kankaria, especially with family or friends. Go in the evening for the best experience!

Nagina Wadi Kankaria Lake The lake is located in the Ahmedabad district of Gujarat. This lake was built by the founder of the Delhi Sultanate “Sultan Qutb-ud-Din’ in the 15th century. The architecture of this place is the perfect blend of Mughal and contemporary styles. The Nagina Wadi is accessible via a tree-lined walkway that extends from the lake’s periphery to the island. The pathway of Nagina Wadi, adorned with fountains and decorative lights, creates a magical ambiance, especially during the evening. Main Attractions at Nagina Wadi: Musical Fountain Show: A spectacular evening show with water jets, colorful lights, and music. Garden Walkways: Peaceful paths lined with palm trees, benches, and seasonal flowers. Light Tunnel: A vibrant LED-lit tunnel walkway connecting the mainland to the island. Food Stalls: Enjoy local Gujarati snacks like bhel, pav bhaji, and ice gola. Boat Rides: Pedal boats and motorboats available from the lakefront. Entry Fees & Timings: Nagina Wadi Access: Free with Kankaria Lake general ticket. Musical Fountain Show: Rs.30– 50 per person Kankaria Entry Ticket: Rs.10.00 per head. Timing: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM (Closed on Mondays). ***

Went to Nagina Wadi inside Kankaria Lake the other evening and honestly it was such a vibe. First thing the walkway along the lake is really nice for a slow stroll or some jogging if you are feeling active though do not expect a marathon the whole thing is small but sweet. I spent a good ten minutes just staring at the fountain and when the laser show kicked in wow it looked so nice on the water. I swear even my phone camera struggled to catch how pretty it actually was. Tried the toy train too which is super cute and I ended up feeling like a kid again. Then I thought why not go for the speed boat let us just say a little splash here and there but totally worth it. Boating around the lake is calm relaxing and a great way to forget the city noise for a while. The evening has this nice peaceful energy even with kids running around and families everywhere you still get small quiet corners to just sit and breathe. Only tiny complaint some spots could do with a little more lighting at night but nothing that ruins the experience. Overall really well maintained safe and the perfect mix of fun and calm. Ended up spending more time than planned just walking watching the lake and enjoying the breeze. Seriously five stars from me and I am definitely going back soon.

good place for family weekend and hanging out with friends. for the entry you need to pay ₹10 and note that food items from outside the lake is not get enter by security guards. there is also a butterfly garden for ₹10 rupees but don't vest your money for it because there is nothing new or amazing there. also there is entry for centre of Lake is almost around ₹70 rupees. there was a game zone available for kids and many more fun activities out there. if you want to spend time for whole day so I sujest you to go there.
