Glacier
Mer de Glace, which translates to "Sea of Ice" in French, is a massive glacier located near Chamonix. It features an ice cave that allows visitors to see and touch ancient ice from within the glacier. The cave is a manmade attraction excavated for tourism each year. As you descend down the stairs to the cave entrance, signs posted along the way indicate the historical height of the glacier, providing insight into its shrinking size due to changing climate conditions.
The amount of glacier knowledge you will gain on this visit and the beauty you will see is what makes this worth it. Just don’t think about all the stairs and enjoy the journey.
B. B — Google review
Beautiful and wonderful. Please protect our glaciers, it’s so sad to see they are melting so fast. They are the resources that give us fresh water. And it’s the nature that we have to protect in every aspect. Loved to be there and I am sure that you will enjoy too.
Gayan R — Google review
To the glacier viewpoint by train then by gondola to the glacier. Also suitable for smaller children. The glacier melts quickly and the experience in the glacier is special. 💜The speed of the ice melting is shown in the video. Buy ticket on internet⭐️
Irma G — Google review
Magnificent and impressive glacier located in the French Alps. The atmosphere showcases the grandeur and power of nature, making a trip to Mer de Glace a must see when in the area.
Tongz N — Google review
From Chamonix you can take the little red train from the Mer du Glace train station. The train will take you up the mountain for 15-20 minutes and during you’ll see the greatest scene of Chamonix and the mountains surrounding it. When you arrive you can enjoy a snack or hot drink at the cafeteria and you may buy a souvenir from the shop. If you look down from the balcony you’ll see the sea of ice Mer du Glace and you’ll be mesmerised by the beautiful scene of the mountains especially the one with the pointed peak. Then you can take the téléférik down where it will take you half the way and then you have to go down the stairs for almost 580 steps where you’ll see a beautiful dug ice cave. The cave is dug on a yearly basis and it’s a little adventure that deserved to be experienced. You have to know that there is a danger of avalanches, and you have to climb back the 580 steps. The last train to take you back to Chamonix go on 16:30 so watch out the time.
Ziad K — Google review
Didn’t find it very exciting or educational. However in a clear day it would be well worth the views. I think my favourite part was the gondolas. Probably perfect for families and kids as it’s more safe than the winter sports
T S — Google review
Amazing experience! We took the train up to mountain and visited the ice cave. Highly recommend!
FZ — Google review
Bittersweet experience. I went up to the top station of the rack railway thinking I would enjoy the scenery and the views from the high ground above Chamonix and the valley, and it was certainly worth it. However, I was very negatively surprised that tunnels are continually being made into the glacier to allow tourists access. I am surprised that in the current context of rising temperatures and lack of snowfall, no measures are being taken to mitigate the disappearance of the glacier, but that on the contrary, they are constantly drilling holes in it in order to continue charging tourists for entry. It is very sad that economic exploitation prevails over the conservation of the site.

Aiguille du Midi is a 3,842-meter summit in the Mont Blanc massif, easily accessible year-round via cable car from Chamonix. The area offers a range of activities for all types of travelers, from visiting the highest gourmet restaurant in town to embarking on adventurous experiences like climbing Mont Blanc or taking a helicopter ride over glaciers.
Absolutely amazing, once in a life time. Unique weather at 8 am, 4 degrees Celsius. At this altitude you are slow when you walk on the terraces.
Irma G — Google review
Just out of this world experience. The views are absolutely stunning. The facilities are amazing considering the height. Multiple decks for panoramic views. Do keep in mind that the oxygen level will be low and some might feel a bit dizzy. Once in a life time experience,
Saqib S — Google review
Your amazing ride starts in the center of chamonix, there you will take the most thrilling cable car ride if you life. With the best views, grass that turns u to snow, and trees that turn into massive cliffs. Aguille du midi is a must for everyone. The views at the top are truly out of this world and make you seem so small. Would recommend to everyone visiting chamonix. Give out of five stars
Itay R — Google review
Excellent view of the Alps from here. We were fortunate that the sky were clear. The view is better than the one we experienced in Jungfraujoch.
Chris L — Google review
Wow!!! Just stunning. Exceptional views 360. Will do again. Review will not do any justice. You just have to go. Nice cafe as well. Stairs from elevator to cafe was a bit of a drag in the thin air. Wife’s lips turned purple from lack of oxygen. Be aware of the signs.
Olav H — Google review
Absolutely astonishing views from the top. A must visit location in Chamonix!! It's pricey but worth each cent. Turnaround ticket for adult is 95€. Check the webcam before to make sure that it is sunny on the top as the weather differs alot and clouds in the valley do not mean clouds on top.
Alexei O — Google review
Incredible view . The beauty is breathtaking. You can see the highest peak in Europe from afar. Many people paragliding here. It is a must-visit place in life.
Kenny Y — Google review
If you're looking for a place that makes you feel both tiny and infinite at the same time, Aiguille du Midi is it. From the moment the cable car lifts you out of Chamonix, you're not just gaining altitude — you're entering another world. The ride itself is jaw-dropping: in just 20 minutes, you ascend from 1,035m to a dizzying 3,842m, passing glaciers, jagged peaks, and views that look like they were painted by the gods. At the summit, the panorama is surreal — Mont Blanc looms majestically, and on a clear day, you can see into Italy and Switzerland. The highlight? Le Pas dans le Vide — a glass box suspended over a vertical drop. Step in if you dare, and prepare for your knees to wobble while your Instagram explodes. Facilities are surprisingly good for such altitude: there's a café, viewing platforms, and even an elevator to the upper terrace. Just remember to dress warmly — the air is thin and crisp, even in summer. Whether you're a mountaineer, photographer, or just a dreamer, Aiguille du Midi is a must-see. It's not just a viewpoint — it's a spiritual altitude adjustment.

The French Alps are absolutely stunning—towering peaks, charming villages, and unforgettable views. We took the cable car to Mount Blanc, every moment feels magical. A perfect escape for both adventure and peace. in the first stop (fist level) there is a small restaurant where you can have some cheese cakes coffee and local beers 🍻

The ice cave is definitely worth a visit, The views are stunning, and the food is quite good and reasonably priced. If you plan to visit the ice cave, be sure to wear a jacket, as you may get wet.

Lac Blanc, nestled in the French Alps near Chamonix, is a pristine alpine lake offering breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, including Mont Blanc. The 8.5km trail to the lake begins at the top of La Flegere cable car and leads hikers through steep terrain with switchbacks. During summer, the trail is adorned with wildflowers, enhancing its picturesque beauty.
Challenging hike - 600 m elevation gain. Easier options are available for non advanced hikers. You can have a pint of IPA in the end ☺️
Dino B — Google review
I took the cable car to the top and walked toward Lac Blanc. It took about two hours to hike up, and on the way down I went in the opposite direction, which was a more difficult route with many rocks. In total, it took five hours to complete the hike.
Bella N — Google review
Beautiful enough in the rain, though I'm sure it would've been even nicer on a sunny day. A shame it was rainy, but glad things cleared up enough to capture a few relatively clearer shots. A good visit on our last day of the TMB!
Jonathan C — Google review
Lovely lake, deep turquoise waters with a mountain backdrop. + Nice point to hike to from Chamonix town. Stunning scenery on way up/down - coming up through the trees and opening onto the exposed mountain. + Easy enough to do in a day hike. Lots of trails to do a loop so you walk a different way to/from. - No swimming in lake.
Matthew — Google review
Beautiful place, awesome hike, better to do it in the morning, less people around.
Ewa B — Google review
Probably the most popular hike in Chamonix, because it's very easy and very beautiful. If you start the hike from the Index arrival point elevation gain is less than 100m. As a result there is always a lot of people. Try to start as early as possible to avoid the worst crowds and better light for pictures. Swimming in the lake is strictly forbidden!

Bossons Glacier, situated in the Mont Blanc massif in Chamonix, France, is a remarkable natural wonder known for its imposing icefall and impressive crevasses. Visitors can access this enormous mountain glacier via hiking trails or a chair lift that takes them to a chalet with a restaurant at an elevation of 1,425m. The glacier offers breathtaking views and hikers can take a 2.
Hiked from the bus stop around 8.5km, 4 hours, 1,600 m. ascent, we will see the fantastic view.
Junlawat K — Google review
Took the ski lift at bossons and ended up at the cute refuge, and the start of the TMB la jonction path! Don’t attempt this path on a foggy day or if you’re not prepared!!! When I got up to the start, it was too foggy to undergo the hike, but there was a quick 10min path to the left behind the refuge where you get to learn a little bit about history, see a photo time lapse board showing the glacier retreat and gets you to a view point for the glacier itself. Definitely worth it to come by and check it out!
Carrie L — Google review
Go for it, as long as it’s there. Amazing. For example: use Chairlift, then 1.5h walk towards glacier = amazing view and relatively close. Even with Children no Problem, easy walk and worth it
Mat H — Google review
Incredibly blessed to hike up to the high viewpoint- incredible views and relatively easy hike. We went with two young kids under 8 years old and we took 2hrs17mins hiking up the +/-5km with a lunch stop and rest moments along the way. We are from the Netherlands, so we are not accustomed to mountain hiking.
Bronwyn W — Google review

Le Brévent is an alpine summit standing at 8,284 feet, offering hiking routes accessible by a cable car that provides breathtaking vistas of Mont Blanc. Visitors can take the gondola lift up to Planpraz and then embark on a steep hike to the top of Le Brévent for stunning views of the surrounding glaciers. While weather conditions may impact visibility, reaching the summit offers an incredible perspective of Chamonix Valley and the Tour de Mont Blanc.
Reached the top station on Le Brevent after two cable car rides. Really recommend to go on a clear day so you can see the whole southern mountain range of Chamonix including Aiguille du Midi and ofcourse Mont Blanc! For better photos, may consider going in the afternoon then you can have the sun behind you but not the mountains.
Mato S — Google review
Amazing views of Mont Blanc! Cable car was a bit pricey, but worth it for the experience.
Denys M — Google review
Le Brévent is one of the most renowned and accessible spots to enjoy a panoramic view of the majestic Mont Blanc. This location offers a truly beautiful experience for visitors, combining convenience with stunning natural beauty. For those arriving by car, parking is available at the paid «Parking du Brévent», where an 8-hour stay costs EUR 10.- as of August 2024. From there, your adventure begins with a cable car ride to Planpraz. I recommend continuing on to Le Brévent for the full experience. A one-way ticket to «Le Brévent» costs EUR 26.-. Planpraz: The first stop, is a must-see. From here, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Mont Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi, and other nearby summits. It’s a perfect spot for photography or simply taking in the grandeur of the Alps. From Planpraz, hop on the cable car to Le Brévent, where you’ll be rewarded with one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Mont Blanc. The scenery from this vantage point is unparalleled, making it a highlight of any trip to the region. If you have time, consider dining at the restaurant "Le Panoramic" at the top. The food is good, and the views from the restaurant are just as impressive. However, it’s advisable to book in advance, as it’s a popular spot. For those who enjoy hiking, there’s the option to descend on foot from Le Brévent to Planpraz. The hike takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes, offering more incredible views along the way. Once back at Planpraz, you have several options to return to Chamonix (Parking Le Brévent): 1. Take the cable car: back down for a quick and easy return. 2. Walk the short path back: which is a bit challenging and takes around 2 hours. 3. Opt for the longer walk, which takes about 3 hours but is less difficult than the shorter path. Le Brévent is a destination that perfectly combines accessibility with awe-inspiring natural beauty. Whether you’re there for a quick visit or a full day of exploration, the views and experiences offered here are truly unforgettable. For the courageous and well-trained, there’s also the option to do a round trip from Chamonix to Le Brévent entirely on foot. This challenging hike offers an immersive experience with the stunning Alpine scenery, but you should be prepared to spend at least 7 hours on the trail. It’s a demanding journey, but the rewards of the breathtaking views along the way make it well worth the effort. Enjoy 😎🧘‍♂️🙏☀️🏔️
Ryan G — Google review
Really beautiful look at Mont Blanc and Chamonix. The mountain trip to Brevent peak is accessible, but quite long and requires endurance. Also, in the summer time there are a lot of people hiking different paths on Brevent Mountain.
Andrei E — Google review
Amazing views of the Mont Blanc massif on a sunny day. Watch the webcam before heading up, to make sure it's clear. Better light in the afternoon. For less than 40 euro (paid 36 euro for Sep 15, '24) the ChamSummerDeal offers unlimited rides to Brevent&Flegere/L'Index on a chosen date, whereas 40 euro is currently the regular price for just one R/T to Brevent. A similar deal is available in winter.
Globe T — Google review
The view is amazing but we were hiking instead of taking cab and it was quite long way. If you decide so take a lot of water

Les Grands Montets in Chamonix, France is a renowned destination offering world-class skiing and stunning mountain views. With slopes suitable for all skill levels, it attracts both beginners and experienced skiers. The area's cable cars provide access to a high mountain landscape with exceptional views of the Argentiere glacier, the Aiguilles Rouges, and Mont Blanc. Since its opening in 1963, Les Grands Montets has been a key factor in Chamonix's popularity.
Great place to ski. Some good challenging runs and amazing views. It is in the shade most of the day so choose a warm day and by late morning you can find places in the sun.
Adam P — Google review
Open bowl skiing above tree line with steep reds. The views of the other Chamonix ski resorts and valley from the top was breathtaking. The skiback to the base was long and steep, great to finish your legs off at the end of a long day. Enjoy!
K O — Google review
It's fairly large, but the tram is down for a while which focuses people onto the other runs. Some hike it. The snow was packed and icy and the slopes were uber crowded. Great views, though. The restaurants and such are nice with lots of food options and friendly staff. I felt the ribs were a little tough, but had good flavor. The vegetables were perfectly done.
Ron G — Google review
At the moment a great start for touring. Alpine Skiing is okay, but missing the lift to the top… Can’t wait for the new lifts to open and bring us straight to the top!

Amazing chalets, with great restaurant. Wonderful view of Mont Blanc
Elaias K — Google review
Fantastic ski resort with many exciting technical courses. Hope new snow will fall shortly. The slopes were very hard but the weather was so nice.
A D — Google review
Excellent ski resort for intermediates but not many runs. Off piste is broad, but so well used it’s practically bashed. Runs are short, you could probably do top to base in less than 30mins. I would recommend Grand Montets for the views and if youre into rock climbing, otherwise you’ll likely be bored after a couple hours and asking yourself “why didn’t i go Megeve?” Good fun.
Yorkie 7 — Google review
Best place when there is lack of snow due to its high altitude and north facing pistes. Bring your yellow googles because even on a sunny day, there is no sunshine until afternoon.

The Tramway du Mont-Blanc, also known as TMB, starts at Fayet (580 m) and reaches Nid d'Aigle (2372 m) after a 12.4 km journey. It provides access to the starting point for climbing Mont-Blanc via the Royal Route, while also offering a safe way for families and contemplative individuals to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the high mountains.
Stunning views of the Bionnassay glacier and the valley below! A very relaxing tram ride (approximately 45minutes one way)! This is the start of the “Royal Route” to ascend to Mont Blanc’s peak. You can see many well equipped mountaineers making their way up! Aside from marvelling at these mountaineers, you can very easily walk over to the refuge, grab a coffee or a beer and then hike close to the Bionnassay glacier! I was lucky enough to see a mountain goat or ibex galloping through this mountainous area! If you are not hiking you don’t need to bring a lot of gear! In mid September I just wore a windbreaker (AR) jacket! Anyways, I would highly recommend you coming up to this station before noon so that you get ample time to explore, enjoy the scenery and secure a good return train time!
Carrie L — Google review
The Tramway du Mont Blanc is a slow but very scenic train that takes you up to the Nid d’Aigle at 2,372m. The ride gives amazing mountain and valley views, and it’s a great start point for hikes or just to enjoy the panorama. I would suggest to buy 2-3 day pass which gives access to multiple ropeways and trams, you still need to book a slot for this tram in advance
Nilay S — Google review
Takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to go up, it’s a very scenic ride as long as clouds don’t get in the way. The top station has a washroom and potable water in the ticket office building. The restaurant is about 5 minute hike away from the station with beautiful views of the nearby glacier.
Edwin — Google review
A must do experience if you’re in the area. The tram (in early August) was quite busy, but had seating for most. You need to book your return train when you get to the top. There’s a nice little restaurant within 5 minutes walk at the top with great views of the glacier and valley
Rachel P — Google review
Tram was a bit crowded, but the view from the tram and the final destination was incredible.

Bart R — Google review
A must experience. You can take the train from different station to this high-altitude amazing old station.
Maghsood S — Google review
What a trip! The view is spectacular trom the tram and when walking at the top. Recommend the right side on the way up and left on the way down. Give yourself at least 3 hours at the top, you’ll want to climb further and go to the ridge and over towards the glacier. For the parking there are 3 main areas to park (P1 -P2-P3)

Really super day, but we are keen walkers and wildlife watchers. Daughter loved seeing the animals in their natural habitat. The only thing I would say is that it isn't very clear that the bus doesn't run on a weekend and it is a strenuous walk up to the park from Les Houches.
Wanderinggecko — Google review
The 4th visit, 1st time with the Family and they loved it. We managed to see most of the animals. The walk from parking to the park is very steep and may be ling depending how crowded it is and if you have elders or children.
Yazeed A — Google review
One of the best activities in the area! I really enjoyed the hiking trail, and the animals are absolutely beautiful. If you’re an animal lover, you’ll definitely enjoy it. It’s also very kid-friendly. 💙 Note: It’s best to drive all the way to P1, as the hike to the entrance is quite long.
Yusa Z — Google review
Doesn’t worth the entry fee. Limited number of animals. It’s fare to say that they charge for the view. The view to Month Blanc is great. Beautiful scenery. There isn’t even a decent bench to sit and have a snack.
The B — Google review
Really lovely place to walk around and see the animals, we didn't see everything but we did see Marmots which my children were very happy about. There are a few places to park but it's quite a walk from the car parks up the hill to the entrance - try and park as close as you can, don't stop at the first place you see. When we visited in the afternoon, we drove as far as we could up the road and found a spot in the top car park - if we had taken the first slot we saw, we would have over 1km to walk up which, with 2 small children, would have been painful. You need to reserve online before going - you pay when you get there , The views of the surrounding area are fantastic. There's a cafe and gift shop, all over priced as you'd expect...

I was in Chamonix for 8 days and think that here’s the highlight of the trip. Stunning views and wildlife in combo. Fantastic! Remember to reserve in advance

Mountain cable car
The Panoramic Mont Blanc cable car offers an incredible journey from Chamonix to Courmayeur, Italy, providing a breathtaking aerial view of the snowy landscapes. The trip begins with a ride from Chamonix centre to l'Aiguille du Midi and then continues on the cable car for an hour-long scenic crossing to Pointe Helbronner in Italy. The weather conditions can be unpredictable, but the experience is truly unforgettable, especially on clear days.
This is THE best attraction in the Alps (maybe Jungfraujoch comes close, at least comparable). For 30 minutes each way you fly over the mighty glaciers of the White Valley enjoying the impressive views from a comfortable cabin. The alpinists going to climb the Mont-Blanc look ridiculously tiny from this height compared to the mountains around them. In all once in a lifetime experience, that you will remember for a long time.
Gleb — Google review
Visiting the Aiguille du Midi summit at 3842 meters is absolutely breathtaking, both literally and figuratively. The views over the Mont Blanc massif are surreal, and the entire experience feels like stepping into another world. For many, this is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and yes, the steep ticket price is worth it for what you get in return. That said, visitor should be aware of an important and potentially problematic detail regarding the return journey. On Sunday, July 20, 2025, the staff on site were extremely strict about the mandatory 90-minute stay at the summit. No early returns were allowed — even in cases of discomfort or mild altitude sickness. We witnessed a person clearly struggling who asked to descend early after an hour, but they were firmly denied and told to wait for several cabins to pass before being allowed to go back down. This police is not communicated clearly in advance, and it can be stressing for those who are sensitive to altitude or simply don’t want to stay that long. While crowd control and logistics may justify a minimum time slot, there should be more flexibility and compassion in exceptional cases. At the very least, this rule should be communicated more transparently at the time of booking and boarding. In short: the summit experience is unforgettable and highly recommended, but go in fully prepared, hydrate well, and don’t expect to leave early if things get uncomfortable.
Emiel W — Google review
The best cable car ride youll ever experience. It stops 5 times on the way and swings at least 10m up and down. It runs on a single rope over multiple kilometers long valley. The rope swings maybe 300m down from the pylon. One of the pylons is floating - a rope between two peaks acting as a pylon. And you can see people trekking below you. It is completely wild ride and something you can not experience anywhere else.
Thrust V — Google review
Cable car to the viewpoint. Modern, large, panoramic. Just driving it is a great experience. We are accompanied on the trip by a staff member. There are about 30-40 people in the queue.

The best experience of our lives. The views are breathtaking. Best value for money. It's so quiet when you are up there with plenty of time to take photos and videos
Andy B — Google review
Breathtaking, truly spectacular ride over the Glacier du Geant with views over its crevasses, seracs, supraglacial ponds, and views over to the Mer de Glace and to the summits of Mont Blanc, Mont Maudit and Mont Blanc du Tacul. Potentially the most beautiful cable car ride on the planet enabling you to experience a summit and glacier world that is otherwise only accessible to mountaineers. Nice intimate cabins with 4 seats and windows that can be opened. Every segment reveals a new incredible view. Friendly and professional staff. Can be closed to new riders spontaneously when strong winds start setting in but we were lucky to enter before the closure (going from the French side at Aiguille du Midi to the Italian side at Punta Hellbrunner. Returns are always served (in our case from Italy to France), however at slower speed (which was fantastic for taking photos).

For a price 78 euro per trip per adult there is no resources to have a proper cleaning sevice? This is very pitty because the views are nice, but the maintenance is very poor.

Glaciorium is a new exhibition center where visitors can delve into the evolution of glaciers. The site offers informative displays, videos, and a short film to educate guests about the history of these natural wonders. Additionally, there are hiking trails nearby for those interested in exploring the surrounding area. While it may be smaller than its predecessor, Glaciorium provides an opportunity to view historical photos and gain insight into glaciers before venturing down to the Ice Cave.
A small museum which tells all about glaciers: the formation, shapes, parts, levels of the ice, characteristics, the history of Mer de Glace and other important glaciers worldwide. Worth visiting.

It is a small ice cave, but the difference is that it is blue. There is an introduction to the formation, shape, and characteristics of the ice in the ice cave. Although the ice cave is smaller, you can take a small train to go up. The scenery along the way is very beautiful and worth visiting.

Pretty nice ride, fun for kids and adults who are young at heart. Located in an amusement park with other attractions. The track was well built and maintained, the ride is just a few minutes long, it does get fast if you don’t break so it can cause nausea. The price is high, like everything else in Chamonix, we thought a fair price would be 6-7 Euros. But at least the prices are displayed clearly, can be bought from a machine with a credit card, and there’s a discount if you buy multiple rides. Enjoy :-)

Exciting ride and not too crazy wait time. Suggestion: don't buy too many rides at a time otherwise you might stuck with waiting too long to use all the rides you have bought. We end up coming back the 2nd day to finish the tickets we bought.

Musée des Cristaux - Espace Tairraz is a small museum tucked away in the Chamonix valley, showcasing an impressive collection of minerals and crystals, including smoked quartz and pink fluorspars. The museum also features a captivating mountaineering exhibition that delves into the history of early pioneers and their record-breaking feats. Visitors can enjoy educational activities such as cultural exhibitions and family-friendly options like yoga and swimming pools.
With a huge collection of rocks along with a cheap ticket, the Crystal museum is a must visit for anyone in Chamonix. Though all the explanations are in French, you can decipher most of it and you honestly don’t need to be able to read it to have a good visit. There are a few large pieces of quartz that are open to being touched. With a hotel discount, adults are €5 and kids are free. Without a discount, adult tickets are still only €7. They offer a large French and international collection of beautiful and unique minerals, including a little exhibit for rare treasures. Overall an amazing place for any type of person, and it will broaden their interest in minerals and geology.

I’m a bit of a rock geek, so this was up my alley. Very cool selection of gems and crystals. Only downside is there was no other language description of anything. I know, I know… it’s in France, but as a main tourist town where most things have translations that was a little disappointing. However it was good value, and I got the gist of it, the displays were very good.

We visited the museum on a rainy day and weren’t disappointed. Unquie stones and crystals from all over the world. It made us proud to see a vast collection of stones from Pakistan. This local history museum in Chamonix is a great place to learn about the city's history and explore interesting displays about Mont Blanc mountaineering, winter sports and culture. It has two floors with various rooms that are well-maintained and interesting to look around. The admission price is reasonable, and it's a great spot to spend an afternoon when it's rainy outside!
If you’re interested in Alpi story, this place is a good choice, it’s open also in Sunday, and low prices for the tickets. It takes about an hour or more, you could find some nice poster and old ski related stuff, you can also enjoy some puzzles game for kids.

Great museum, really informative and enjoyable to look around - and perfect for when it's rainy! Reasonable entrance price, a few different rooms to look around. Would definitely recommend when visiting Chamonix!
Beth L — Google review
Most of the first floor of this building (the end near the river) has been under renovation for two years (based on the giant sign out front near the river) & the place above the construction site on the second floor is rented as an Airbnb. The surrounding renovation isn't disclosed in the rental. So the building security isn't standard, among other things, and there are likely additional safety issues since the floor is held up by temporary steel supports. It's beautiful architecturally and really central in Chamonix and has been going on for years, so even people who live near Les Grands Montets know about this renovation, but apparently the real estate agents just a few blocks away are oblivious.

Great experience to travel up on a lovely train with out if this world views (try and sit on the left for best views). This is a wonderful place to visit! There are two restaurants, a gift shop, and access to the ice cave, which you can reach via a cable car and stairs — and the cave itself is extremely impressive. Along the way, you’ll see signs showing where the glacier used to be in previous years, and it’s truly eye-opening and sad to witness how much it has shrunk over time. There’s also a small museum about the glacier and several hiking trails that start from here, making it a great spot to spend a few hours exploring. The Mer de Glace is absolutely breathtaking, and the surrounding area is beautiful, peaceful, and tranquil. You can easily reach this site by train from Chamonix. Highly recommended!

Absolutely stunning views whichever way you look, 2 nice cafes & a gift shop, at the summit with 2large viewing platforms. Easily reached on the mountain train (train du Montenvers)You must take the cable car down to the Mer de Glance & the ice caves to marvel in their beauty. There are approximately 170 steps down once you leave the cable car, but they are in numerous small staircases (10/14 steps each) with numerous landing/walkways connecting them. Well worth the effort don't miss the experience.

Lovely experience I would definitely recommend, included in our ticket was a lovely scenic train ride up the mountain, access to the cable cars and entry to the glacier ice cave. On top of the mountain is a cafe a restaurant and gift shop. There are toilets and seating. Elevators for accessing the cable cars, please note that from the bottom cable car to the ice cave entrance there are many steps. Inside the ice cave it is carpeted so you won't slip. I would say it's good value for money and definite 'must do' when in Chamonix.

Amazing experience. The ice cave has been carved out and has explanation posters every several feet so that you know exactly what you’re looking at. To looks at the blue ice walls and know that it’s thousands of years old is amazing. Quite an unforgettable experience.

Since we bought the multipass, it's free to visit the ice cave. You need to take a train and then a cable car then walk down many metal stairs to arrive at the ice cave. You saw how the glacier retreated due to global warming. You have a solid evidence to support using green energy.

The cable car ride up provides stunning views and various activities, making it an unforgettable experience for both adults and kids.
Amazing hike in June. Refugios were all good, towns were amazing to stop over for an extra day, Not as grueling as everyone says. Got lost once in a storm, but found our way out. Went during the pandemic and practically had it ourselves! Did it in 8 days.

The total journey of TMB is about 170 kilometers, passing through France, Italy and Switzerland, and circumnavigating the White Peak, the highest peak in Western Europe. Bailangfeng Special Zone is about 4810 meters. TMB will not take you to climb Bailangfeng or any three-thousand-meter-high snow peak. Instead, it will take you around Bailangfeng on the surrounding slopes or mountains. The maximum height in the north is about 1000~2600 meters. There is no plateau mountain peak. The basic walking itinerary is about 11 days, and the trail will take you through small towns, mountains and gorges in the mountainous areas of an autonomous region. The daily itinerary is from one small town or mountain hut, over the 2,000-meter gorge on the border, and then down to another small town or mountain hut.

What a beautiful hike! Start at the plan de l’aiguille and end at the Montenvers train station. The hike is around 9km and is not too difficult. I’d say it can be done by most people with average fitness.

One of the most memorable hikes of my life!! Took my wife and I about 8-9 hours to complete the 15 km loop starting from Grepon/Montenevers, and we're met with such amazing views. We started the loop clockwise so the first bit was through the forest, but once you reach the refuge you'll climb near the peak of the mountain and was the most scenic parts of the journey. Incredibly worth it!!
Andrew T — Google review
Awesome near full day hike with amazing views over chamonix and the surrounding mountains. This took me around 6 hours with stops from the start to the Montenvers train station to make the final train back down (€30 single) (you can also walk down but save the knees after a long day). I would recommend a good level of fitness and gear can be minimal in nice weather. Expect around 1300-1500m total ascent over 15km. I would also recommend the fairly short detour to Lac Bleu!! The start of the hike is in the back corner of the aiguille du midi car park (€10 ish for 24h) and starts with a straight 1100m of ascent to the refuge (stop for food or coffee!). It flattens out a lot after that and is pretty well marked the entire way but I would recommend a map or offline map on your phone. The ground is uneven most of the way so don't come unprepared, there is little to no shade after the refuge so wear a hat and glasses on a sunny day.
Dan R — Google review
We took the cable car up to Plan de l'Aiguille. I was hoping to taking in some views on the way up but they make sure there is absolutely no space to even move so try and get straight to the glass if you want see any views. It had snowed a day before we went up so the paths were not at all visible but luckily we bumped into 2 locals who had done the walk a few days earlier so we just followed their footprints. It was very quiet probably due to the weather conditions and only saw 4 people on the whole walk which made the whole experience so much more surreal. Found the walk quite easy but had to go at a reasonable pace due to the snow. We took the Montenvers train down to Chamonix. A wonderful experience in the snow.

Pointe Helbronner is a must-visit alpine summit, standing at 11,358 feet and offering breathtaking valley views. Accessible by cable car in a popular ski area, it provides stunning vistas of mountain peaks and features a glass wall showcasing local gemstones. Visitors can enjoy quality coffee at a charming cafe while admiring the peaks. Despite potential cold temperatures at the observation deck, the various platforms offer spectacular views even on cloudy days.
MUST VISIT ONCE IN A LIFETIME!!! Beautiful view one of the highest peak of Europe, and the highest of Italy and France!!! 11th Peak in the World!!! Beautiful Panorama and astounding atmosphere... For those who are scared, it's not a big deal... The only thing we felt as a group is lower oxygen intake but not much more... The shelters are so good organized you don't feel like you are outside on one of the 11th peak... We wen to the restaurant downstairs and it isn't so overpriced Like you can take a Brioches with Cappuccino at 4 Euros!!! Even in Milan You can't get an offer like that... We ate typical Salumi and cheese with hot chocolate... Great Great Experience!!! So yeah you can also visit it in every season and in March they also open the way to the France, You can come with your ski and do ski alpinism or throw yourself with the Paragliding with any problem. The price to reach the peak is only 45 euros per person...

Duuuude! It was amazing. The dizziness from 30% less oxygen than 20 minutes ago, the view, the cold, the... did I mention THE VIEW!!?!? Worth every cent.

Breathtaking view from here. Amazing experience. One of the best experiences and things to do. You must visit it. Highly recommended. Never forgetting this feeling

A breathtaking journey to the highest peak in the Alps on the Italian-French border Starting from the Italian city Courmayeur, a charming town 1,300 meters above sea level, I began my ascent via the Skyway Monte Bianco. I purchased a round-trip ticket for €63.5 at the main station. Punta Helbronner (3,467 m): The final destination was magical. The temperature dropped to around 1.8°C with a light wind, making it refreshingly crisp. From here, a 92-meter below a tunnel leads to a ski station and an open-air restaurant. I made my way to the top terrace—what a view! Standing above the clouds with 360° views of the Alps was an indescribably beautiful and humbling experience. Highly recommended for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone craving awe-inspiring scenery #SkywayMonteBianco #PuntaHelbronner #MontBlanc #AlpineAdventure #Courmayeur #ItalyTravel #MountainViews #ExploreItaly #AlpsExperience

Breathtaking panoramic views of the highest mountain in Europe. Even though I was there at a pretty cloudy day, view was just one of its kind. I was disappointed that the triple cable car was open only one way to France, and nobody could return (because of different regulations).

Wonderful day trip in summer up this mountain via cable car. Don't miss the Refugio and the area covered in snow beside the Refugio.
Alan G — Google review
Stunning views of mountain peaks, an entire glass wall dedicated to local gemstones alongside a view of Mont Blanc and a lovely little cafe where you can sip quality coffee while you admire the peaks! Even though during my visit there were quite a few clouds, the various platforms and views from this height were spectacular. It does get cold at the top observation deck (since you are standing around) so I would recommend an ultralight down! To get around the observation decks (external) you do need to do some stairs, but the building (internal) itself with the cafe and viewing areas is fully accessible! From this point, you could pay for the additional trip on the Mont Blanc Panoramic cable car that takes you over to Aiguille du Midi! I would also recommend going early- so you get fewer clouds and crowds!

Nestled in the heart of Chamonix on Rue des Moulin, Restaurant Le Cap-Horn is part of a trio of eateries owned by well-known local restaurateurs. The restaurant's spacious layout features various cozy corners adorned with maritime decor and Antarctic references. Despite being located in a landlocked area, the menu focuses on seafood infused with French and Japanese flavors. The rustic-chic ambiance and a lively atmosphere make it an ideal spot to savor innovative dishes while enjoying the terrace.
This is our fourth season coming to Chamonix and our fourth season coming to Le Cap-Horn It cannot be missed 😀 The food, the view, the smiling professionalism, it all contributes into a wondrous tradition Today, we were even able to meet the chef, Frederick, who took the time to come to our table, a super fun surprise and treat (almost as good as the ribs 😅) Thank you Le Cap-Horn and we will see you next season!
Aleron K — Google review
This is our third time dining at Le Cap-Horn, but our first having dinner as our usual reservation was for lunch. Have always dined in big group, group of 10 and dinner was now for a group of 7. Food standard is always there , no complains, we ordered kids meal (grilled fish, steak patty, fried chicken), soup, katsu, tacos, ribeye for adults While we did not order sushi, one sight that was observed, sushi was not made fresh, the sushi chef actually took pre made sushi (already wrapped in seaweed on the tray) from the fridge and served it to the customer. The only sushi that is freshly made seems to be the sashimi.. the fact that the sushi counter is open kitchen concept, it’s shocking to see this sight. Still giving 4 stars for food, as other than sushi the rest of the food we ordered is perfect. Service When we arrived, the restaurant was not busy, it got busier during the night. Service wise, could have been better. One of the wait staff who was helping to serve our meal came with the food and as only the main was served we asked if the dish comes with rice, his response was “yes it’s coming, I only have two hands”. To a simple question, he could have just responded with “it’s coming”, the last sentence was totally unnecessary. Atmosphere- love the atmosphere, still a clean and charming place
Jenny S — Google review
The restaurant has a nice interior decor and atmosphere. The service is good. The food is delicious too. Despite all things nice and beautiful, my vegetarian option i.e. a green curry didn't have rice with it. When I asked about it I was asked to search in the curry for a couple rice things which is new to me. I had to ask my wife to share her rice with me. Curry was anyway delicious. And so was the fish dish my wife had.
Vijay J — Google review
This was our second visit, and once again, the ambiance, service, and food did not disappoint. I chose the restaurant for its extensive and varied fish menu, and it lived up to expectations. The service was professional and attentive—so much so that I blamed my partner for the stonking hangover the next morning. However, my mother rightly pointed out that the wine was simply too delicious, and it was the attentive waitstaff who ensured our glasses were never empty. We ended the night with some scrumptious desserts. If you dress up or wear a simple t-shirt and jeans you won't feel out of place. A great night and a slightly fuzzy morning!
Tamar S — Google review
“The food was absolutely delicious, and the overall ambiance was wonderful. The staff were extremely helpful, polite, and always cheerful. We tried the salad, calamari, and Asian chicken — each dish was exceptional. I’ll definitely return; highly recommended!”
Deemah S — Google review
Le Cap-Horn exceeded our expectations on every visit. We were so impressed that we ended up going multiple times during our stay, and each time was a delight. The food was exceptional, with a menu offering a wide range of delicious options. The drinks were top-notch, perfectly complementing the meal. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. One dish that stood out was the duck. It was cooked to perfection, tender and flavourful.
Tsenka G — Google review
Very SLOW service. We waited for 40 mins after placing our order and no food came. The server assigned to our table didn’t care about our table at all and didn’t notice our food wasn’t coming. It was another server who noticed us being a bit impatient and checked our food for us. The food tasted ok however the portion was quite small, in particular, the fried noodles. And the quality wasn’t good - as evidenced by some of the noodles being stuck together, which wasn’t something i would expect from a bowl of noodles that cost EUR25. And to be honest, if they charge EUR25 for a bowl of noodles which tastes at most mediocre by Asian standards, they could at least offer a larger portion. Overall it’s a tiring and overpriced experience to eat there and I would never come here again if i return to Chamonix.
M C — Google review
I was fortunate that my last dinner in Chamonix was at Cap-Horn. Upon walking in, I knew I was in for a great meal. First of all, the decor was eye-popping. I needed 30 minutes more to explore, especially the bottom “Les Caves” floor. It was rustic yet luxurious/glam (and has quite the crowd at night). All of the food looked amazing (especially the seafood) but we went with the Asian-inspired dishes and they did not disappoint. Shrimp and Truffle Gyozas, Salmon and Shrimp/noodles were devoured. The tuna roll was simple but with the most unique sauce. Highly recommend! And again, the decor 😍😍

Perched at an altitude of 3,842 meters on the Aiguille du Midi, Le 3842 is renowned as one of Europe's highest restaurants. Accessible only by cable car, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-capped Alpine peaks. The restaurant provides a unique dining experience with locally sourced ingredients and a menu that changes with the seasons.
Happened to get in because another party canceled. So glad we got to eat here. The menu board is full of locally sourced ingredients for you to try in prix fixe fashion. The melon and prosciutto salad was delicious as well as my truffle pork chop.

An experience to grab lunch 3,842 meters high! We spent quite some time on top of Aiguille du Midi so it was only right we reserved a table to eat while on the mountain. The space is small and they fill up quickly so you’ll need to make reservations beforehand. My husband ordered a local beer and I got a red wine. We did the soup, meal and dessert combo, and very much enjoyed everything.

We had an unforgettable experience at this restaurant! We enjoyed a three-course meal – from the starter to the dessert – and everything was absolutely outstanding. The beef and lamb dishes were especially remarkable: tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The service was both professional and warm, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The setting itself is simply breathtaking – to savor such high-quality cuisine at 3842 meters altitude, on a mountaintop, is beyond words. We were truly amazed that food could be this delicious in such a location. A heartfelt thank you for this wonderful experience! Definitely 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very very dirty tables and actually the entire facility on the cafétéria area! My jacket sticked to the table when I laid my arms on it. Sales lady was bored and unfriendly. We asked info about some products and she was just adding them to the bill without answering us. They can't serve a cake on a plate with proper cutlery or hot drinks on a proper mug. Everything is disgusting and dirty!! La tarte (cake) was served on a napkin with a very fragile wooden spoon, impossible to be used. Take some hospitality lessons from your Swiss neighbors! Prices as in Switzerland.

These French fries were amazing and the thought that I could just comfortably eat them while looking around Mont Blanc was incredible.
S C — Google review
Despite our expectation that restaurants on this altitude usually offers more of the view than the quality of the food, we were blown away by how superb the food was. You must order a combination of courses in this restaurant, either 2 course or 3 course, at an understandably higher price. We ordered two sets of 2-course meal and paid around 90+ Euro plus one normal drink. Went for 1 starter, 2 main course and 1 dessert. The local snails plus the sauce were excellent, while the veal was one of the best we ever tasted. The fish was also fresh and the apple pie with ice cream was just the perfect finishing touch. The quality of this restaurant is one of the best I've tasted and if you're visiting Aiguille du Midi, you must visit this restaurant both for the experience and food. Service was also excellent. Loved it.

We had lunch here and it was absolutely amazing. The food was made with local ingredients & recipes and very delicious. Our server was so wonderful. He made our day even more joyful. Merci beaucoup!!!

It may be expensive but totally worth it if you can afford it. The views alone are worth it but the facilities at the top are fantastic too and the cable cars are brilliant . We thought 2 hours at the top would be too long but it turned out to be not enough time and we wished we'd had another half an hour. It was around €62 return for adults and €52 for a child. Well organised system with time slots for the cable cars rather than having to stand in massive queues. Lots of different look out points in all directions at different heights, educational areas, a little cafe, souvenir shop. You can walk out into a glass box suspended over a drop off which is very cool if you're not afraid of heights! Loads of mountaineers to watch, they're crazy!

A great place to get hiking advice, with maps available to take with you. Unfortunately, the machine for collecting pre-booked cable pass tickets wasn’t working, so we had to go to the Aiguille du Midi station to pick them up instead.
Hila — Google review
As expected the place was super busy and from the entrance you can find leaflets and brochure with various activities that you can do on the mountains. We tried to get informed while queuing but in the 6-7 minutes looking trough them I couldn't find the info I needed and when my turn came I got the answer in 30 seconds 😁, and with a smile on her face. Since we travel a lot with the kids you couldn't help noticing (small or big) places for kids to entertain while waiting, ( tables with books for coloring) so this is a big plus from my point of view. So overall feeling is positive, one suggestion, it depends also on the day of the week and of the season of course, would be to supliment another person, like this speeding the que 😁. Regardless, everything around you is so spectacular that you quickly move on, and enjoy your stay. I hope you will to !

I visited Chamonix-Mont-Blanc last week! Its a scenic place with breathtaking views of the Alps. I took the cable car up to Le Brevent, 2525m high, to have lunch at Le Panoramic bar and restaurant with great views of Mont Blanc. Awesome experience. The staff at the tourism office were very professional, however, my country was not part of the countries listed in the visitors record form. So i could not make an entry in the visitors log to show i had travelled from Ghana for this wonderful experience and it was definitely worth the journey. I look forward to visiting again. :)

I was highly disappointed in my experience. I was able to purchase a bus pass but other than that was provided no information or direction. The only information I was able to gather was from the brochures that were near the front entrance. Did not feel as if they cared whether anyone came to visit or not. An overall very frustrating experience.

There is a difference when compared to the other cathedrals in France, which often feature elaborate Rococo design. The architecture of Paroisse Saint Bernard du Mont-Blanc is more subdued and emphasizing simplicity and serenity. The peaceful atmosphere and the harmonious balance of its structure create a calming experience.

The church in Savoyard baroque style. It is quite simple and you won’t see stunning artwork inside, however, it is a serene place and a cool refuge on a hot day. The place is quite historic stemming from XI, however, multiple reconstructions did not keep much of the original church.

The Via Ferrata des Evettes in La Flégère Chamonix-Mont-Blanc offers a secure way for beginners to experience the thrill of mountain climbing. Originating from the Dolomites, this form of climbing was initially used by Italian soldiers and has now become popular among children and beginners. The area around Brevent-Flegere, particularly the Evettes area, is known for this extreme sport.
Incredible experience!!!! Loved every minute of this adventure. We took the La Flegre lift up and hiked the 1/2 hour to the start. There were some challenging spots and once you start you can stop. Everything was very doable but difficult in some spots. If you are an adventurer I say go for it.
Tony M — Google review
Its an okay ferrata. Probably not the most interesting one in the area but its okay. Good ladders everywhere. Nice place to take a break. Though it is exposed and for the first time it might be a bit tough if you are afraid of heights. Bridge at the end is okay. But its very long and the sight it opens is mediocre at best compared that you can hike around and get a better sight. Looks way more impressive from the pictures that for what it is. The route is well marked except the final exit after the bridge. I also did like funny name plates along the way.
Antanas O — Google review
Super nice via ferrata a bit difficult to find but keep looking 👀 right up the path leading to it it’s a bit hidden at least we missed it the via is well worth a detour and can be done by everyone well equipped. It offers 2 nice tibetian bridges.
Gilles F — Google review
This is a great, short and exciting Ferrata! Our 12 and 14-year-old girls did it with us and were delighted. Some steep climbs here and there, may be an exposed corner at times, but nothing felt very difficult. And the bridge is a total reward at the end! We had a great family day out. We took La Flegre cablecar up, then approx. 30 min walk to ferrata. The Ferrata itself, I would say, took us an hour, but you want to hang around the bridge and watch the different emotions of people approaching the bridge :) Some poop their pants; some take to the extreme of hanging on the rope with one hand. Anyhow - it's a super nice one! Then, another 30 minutes down to the lift. And to mention the view of Mont Blanc!
Agnese V — Google review
Very nice ferrata. Requires some experience and strength in arms but no technical difficulies. Not for beginners and children smaller than 1.4m There is an exit before last bridge however I recommend to try it.
Marcin S — Google review
This is a typical approach and via route. I really enjoyed the 2hr walk up though at the top of the cablecar the signs to the via are not readily apparent. You can go directly to the via without getting to the cablecar drop point. The via is marked by the end, the long wired crossing. You can opt out but if you don't , you will find it hard to find the route back to the cable terminal. One could even be stranded in the labyrinth of boulders. The finale crossing was worth the hike but as I crossed I spotted two wires supporting the foot wire are broken. This adds sway to the crossing which is not threatening but dangerous. I'm not sure how to report this.
Humi D — Google review
Fantastic via ferrata! We rented equipment from Intersport. This via ferrata gets quite high and can be quite challenging to climb. Pointe des singes is probably the most fun where you walk across a rope. Incredible views! Don’t miss it.
Jane N — Google review
Stunning little via ferrata. Take the Flegere lift and walk to it or hike from Chamonix (about 2h of easy hiking in a forest and on ski slopes). The ferrata is easy, we saw many beginners and teenagers (only issue with children would be their height because of the bridges). There are two bridges but exits before both of them. Total of 1.5h - mostly because of the amount of people.

The Compagnie du Mont Blanc operates an aerial cable car that takes visitors to the renowned Chamonix-Mont-Blanc ski area. Surrounded by towering peaks such as Mont Blanc at 4,810m and Aiguille du Midi at 3,842m, the area offers breathtaking views and diverse hiking opportunities. Visitors should be prepared for varying weather conditions due to the high altitude.
Absolutely amazing experience, the views are incredible. To experience this truly is on another level. Even in hot weather it gets cold at the top and there is snow and ice yet an hour before I was in 90 degree heat, very strange haha. It is not a quick visit though, so if you have to get back in time for your bus or coach then book your visit to the mountain and give yourself several hours because once you are up there you cannot just get back down, so allow plenty of time. This is a place that everyone should experience at least once 🏔️

Absolutely amazing experience. The high price was worth it. The views were incredibly stunning. It will be cold on the top no matter what the temperature is on the cable car base. There was plenty of snow on the top in August. Once in a lifetime experience.

This whole experience was amazing and absolutely worth the ticket price. Although it was a cloudy day, we still had amazing views of Chamonix and Mont Blanc. I am not a mountain climber, so taking two cable cars to reach 12,600 ft above sea level was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. The views from the terraces were breathtaking and the exhibits were really interesting. I’ve always heard about how breathing thin air impacts your body, so experiencing it first hand was really enlightening too. We stayed at Aiguille du Midi for a few hours and were sad to leave at the end of the afternoon.

An unforgettable paragliding experience in Chamonix with ParagliDream 🤩 I had the chance to fly with Nico and Juliette from ParagliDream, and it was simply magical 🪂! The paragliding flight facing Mont Blanc offers breathtaking views over the mountain range, the Bossons glacier, and the Chamonix valley. The team is professional, friendly, and truly passionate, which immediately makes you feel safe and relaxed, even for a first flight. The takeoff was smooth, the weather perfect, and the flight absolutely sensational between the mountains and the clouds. I even got to try a few fun maneuvers, pure happiness! I highly recommend ParagliDream in Chamonix for a tandem paragliding flight or a discovery flight in the mountains. It’s a local school with a personal touch, focused on safety, good vibes, and sharing their passion for free flight. An experience everyone should try at least once in their life! 😃 Thanks so much 🫶 See you soon 🤩

Incredible experience up in the mountains. Unfortunately it was very cloudy and cold the day we visited but it was our only opportunity. I would advise only visiting when the weather is clear as you'll get more out of it. P.s. dress warm 🥶

La Maison des Artistes, also known as The Jazz Bar, is a historic villa in Chamonix that has been transformed into a vibrant cultural hub. Originally built in 1926 and formerly known as Villa des Amethystes, it now houses an intimate bar with a stage where visitors can enjoy stand-up comedy, jazz sessions, concerts, DJ sets, and live bands. The venue offers a creative drinks menu featuring unique cocktails like the dirty pickle martini and blueberry mint julep.
Great place with live music, talented musicians and good bar! We went there a couple of times during our stay in Chamonix, including a lively New Year party. We had great fun. The place is also beautiful outside, surrounded by a nice park area and gorgeous mountain views. Not sure if they always have food but there was a food truck available when we were there.

I came in the to ask nicely (rather than just sneak to the toilets) if I could please wash my hands because a bird had pooped on me, the lady told me ‘for customers only’ twice, even after I explained (also there were zero customers there at all). I won’t forget how petty and unfriendly the staff here is. Zero compassion and not worth spending your money here. Merci!
Judith W — Google review
The bartender was disrespectful against my friend who was trying to order a water and a beer. I have no idea why? Also the owner of the bar seems to be really defensive against negative reviews and tries to cover up the bad behaviour of its employees by fake answers to below than average reviews.

Bad service. We wanted just beer but they weren't friendly to my friend who doesnt speak French. They accused him of drinking own beer as he had just 5 min ago ordered that beer from them.

Brilliant venue especially every Tuesday night as it was Latin American music & there would be 2 girls doing the dancing on the stage, so if you're like me & can't dance to that music then they would help you get into the groove. Open till 2am & they had different nights on also like reggae music too but i can't remember what night they had that on but an amazing place with amazing people...

Nestled at the base of the stunning ski slopes, Les Grands Montets Hotel & Spa is a luxurious 4-star Alpine-style hotel in Chamonix. The hotel offers traditional rooms and rustic-chic suites, along with fantastic amenities such as an indoor pool and hot tub. It's ideally located near the Grands Montets ski area, cross-country ski trails, and hiking paths, providing guests with easy access to outdoor adventures.
We had no idea how perfect his hotel would fit our family. Quiet and quaint, with a relaxed but local atmosphere, not too dramatic or snobby, amazing views! Awesome steam room, spa, indoor pool and relaxing area, bar is open until 10:30, staff is great. WALKING DISTANCE to the lift and rentals. Our room was great, with a cool loft above for our daughter.

We stayed for one night only during our TMB hike. Luckily, we had a short day and arrived early, allowing for some time to enjoy the spa! What shall I say? It was fantastic! And yes, the rooms were nice (duplex with two bathrooms), the staff was friendly, and the location was perfect! Highly recommended!
Harald K — Google review
Stayed 2 nights during our TMB. Very nice hotel with a "woody" cabin feel to it. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Really quiet during the night for good sleep. Had a wide breakfast spread with good food. 15 min walk to the closest supermarket (which is not too far but something to consider if arriving after a long day of hiking). They also had a nice looking pool and spa which I sadly didn't have time to try.

We had an incredible stay at Les Grands Montets over UTMB week. The breakfast was amazing, location had easy access by bus to all of the hikes, activities, and Chamonix centre. All of the staff, facilities, and rooms were excellent! I could not recommend it enough.

We stayed here for 1 night while walking the TMB and had a FANTASTIC stay. Wonderful spa but what truly made it were the staff - so welcoming and friendly, from housekeeping to Pierre behind the bar, to Freddie and Suzanna on reception, thank you for your brilliant service.

We were hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc and arrived tired and yes, a bit disheveled. But, we were greated as if we had just gotten out of a limo from Paris. Reception staff were exceptional, the room was fantastic and I am still dreaming about all they offerings at breakfast. We would highly recommend Les Grands Montets Hotel and Spa. We are planning to return to ski sometime in the next winter.

Waterfall
Nestled at an altitude of 1233m, Cascade du Dard is a charming 20m high waterfall offering breathtaking views of the Aiguilles Rouges, the glacier des Bossons, and the majestic Mont-Blanc. Accessible from Chamonix, it's a short 45-minute hike through dense forests that provides a sense of wilderness just moments away from town. You can also reach it by parking near the Mont-Blanc tunnel for a quicker walk.
Great small hike that can easily be done with your kids and/ordogs! We started on the trail by the highway, so our loop was 4 km with 207m of incline. There is also a parking lot nearby to make it more convenient if you'd rather drive here!! Super accessible for people of all ages and abilities. A few people were disappointed since they thought the waterfall would be taller or more majestic, but coming from the Canadian Rockies, I still thought this waterfall was just beautiful!! 10/10 would recommend seeing this beauty.

Great waterfalls once you get there. ‘Mostly flat’ and ‘a nice walk’ was how we had it advertised but the incline was a little steeper than that! Pretty much straight up and straight down (see photo for average incline). I’m not the most seasoned hiker but it was definitely more than we (and many of the people we passed) had bargained for!

Tourist information center
Tourist Office Les Houches is a must-visit for travelers seeking adventure, mountaineering, outdoor sports, and nature exploration. While tourist offices may not be on everyone's radar, this office proved to be extremely helpful in a tricky situation when a hotel booking fell through. The friendly and English-speaking staff went above and beyond to secure accommodation during the high season. Visitors also found the office to be welcoming and valuable for tailoring their stay with recommendations for activities suitable for kids and dogs.
Excellent service. Thank you.
Pawel — Google review
Really helpful and welcoming. English speaking to a very high standard and our visit here at the start of our trip was well worth it. We’d been to the Chamonix Valley before, but never in the off season and never with our dogs. The guide recommended loads of things for us to do which were great for kids and dogs and didn’t rely on the lifts, most of which were closed. Many of these things we’d not heard of and which are now firm favourites for us. Worth a visit and a good way of tailoring your stay!
Gary L — Google review
We ended up in a tricky situation where our hotel room booking had been cancelled due to construction work, and the hotel booking website had not forwarded us the memo... so we showed up to a completely abandoned hotel with no idea what to do next. Thankfully the Tourist Office could come to the rescue. The very friendly staff did their best to contact the hotels in the area, and managed to secure us a room despite it being the high season. We never could have done it without them, merci beaucoup!
Carl E — Google review
As always with Tourist Office, very good experience. The lady was very kind and took the time to explain the different activities and hikings (in case of good AND bad weather), printed out all the programs and opening scedules, proposed the discovery hikings for kids. You can see, she is professional, knows the aerea, reacts the tourists wishes and speaks with passion and love about this beautiful region. Thank you!

The reception wasn't helpful and instead referred me to a website. The building is nice, sells guides, maps etc. and has a free toilet just around the corner. Mountain cable car
Panoramic Mont-Blanc, also known as Funivia dei Ghiacciai, is a summer gondola that crosses the French-Italian border, connecting Aiguille du Midi and Skyway Monte Bianco. The 5km journey over the Geant glacier offers exceptional views of crevasses, ice falls, and the Mont Blanc range. The cable car has 4 seats and provides a 360-degree view.
Once you reach Aiguille du midi buy your tickets at the counter for this panoramic trip there. It is not cheap but it is definitely worth it! It is 30 mins each way and it was absolutely stunning! The cable car has 4 seats you reach Pont Helbronner in Italy. The trip is a must-do!

SAJID — Google review
(Translated by Google) It's an unmissable experience! Everything is well-managed, with departure and expected return times that aren't entirely binding. During the August period, there are many tourists eager to experience this, as in the winter season, and organization is essential. The funicular cabin is consequently packed—like sardines, to put it mildly. But on the other hand, the reward is an exceptional and unforgettable view!
Guido F — Google review
Just amazing!
Ioannis P — Google review
(Translated by Google) The view is clearly beautiful, assuming you visit on a clear day. The cable car is modern, and the cabins rotate 360° during the ascent and descent. However, the time you can stay at the summit is limited, and if you want to extend it, you must do so in advance by booking and paying for the restaurant or taking the other cable car that passes over the glaciers and leads to France (this one is open a few weeks a year). However, if you're an average-sized family, you'll have to expect to sell a kidney, perhaps the head of the family, to do all this. (The time you can stay at the intermediate station is unlimited.) Aside: it's absurd to find people in beachwear and footwear at over 3,000 meters and see them struggling to walk on sleet or ice. These people should be given permission to pass through the gates and access the routes to the surrounding peaks and glaciers. It is recommended not to leave the designated areas; what appears pure white is actually a glacier that, depending on the conditions, can be more or less slippery and hides deep crevasses.

SARL Chamexpress.com offers convenient and comfortable transfers from Chamonix to Geneva airport. Travelers appreciate the punctuality of the small, cozy buses that arrive on time for early morning flights. The online booking system is user-friendly, allowing passengers to secure their tickets in advance with ease. Customers also praise the company's effective communication, making it a reliable choice for future travels between these destinations.
Dreadful. We were told with 36 hours notice they couldn't pick us up from Les Contamines as booked, but we had to find our way to a completely different village about 10km away with barely enough time to get to the airport. No apology, they were not willing to pay for a taxi which was the only way to get to the new pick up point. We cancelled and hope we get a refund
Val K — Google review
This was the worst shuttle experience I have ever experienced. I was travelling for a weekend with my 13-year old daughter and it cost me an additional EUR450 to find alternative transport last minute. The bookings of my shuttles were wrong in spite of very clear information. The arrival shuttle offered on the day before my trip was a 3 hour wait at the Geneva airport. Then the pickup from the hotel was booked (again the night before) for 5:45am for a 4:30pm (16:30) flight! In both cases, I booked private transfers on the day. Furthermore, every attempt to communicate and obtain better options or a refund were blatantly refused. It was a real shock.
BJ W — Google review
Paid for a service that is worse than taking public transport for a fraction of the price. From Chamonix to Geneva, the pickup time was 6 hours before the flight. We then waited 1 hour of a bigger bus at the bottom of the valley that didn’t go directly to the airport and stopped several times. The cheaper and better alternative is using a regular bus and then the free buses that move around Chamonix
Raúl P — Google review
These people are scammers. They dropped us in a strange location, and refused to take us to our hotel, and we were left in the cold to try to find a taxi. This is despite booking a door to door service and providing the hotel address ahead of time. The trip also took hours. I wish I had booked a better transfer.
Yasmin 1 — Google review
I do not recommend this service. They only send you the departure time about 20 hours ahead of time. In our case our train was departing Geneva @ 1:30PM. They gave us a pick up time of 6:55AM, for a 1 hour trip. There is nothing better they getting to the train station or airport 5 hours ahead of time. I strongly recommend you download the TrainLine app. They list all buses from Chamonix to Geneva. They leave almost hourly and cost half as much. DO NOT USE. We canceled our reservation, for the obvious reason above, and were told no refund because we didn’t cancel 24 hours ahead of time. Canceling with 24 hours notice is difficult when you are only notified of departure time 20 hours in advance.
Matthew S — Google review
This was the absolute worst airport service we have ever experienced. Despite booking ahead months in advance, the driver showed up over an hour late - in other words, too late for us to make our flight. What's more, they had the audacity to refuse to refund our pre-paid reservation. Sham Express would be a better name.
Adam U — Google review
I travelled on Saturday, 4th March 2023 I paid over £500 for a return transfer for 5 people from Geneva to Morzine, leaving Geneva at 12.00. When we arrived, I went to the desk as instructed at 12.00 and was told that the car was not ready yet but would be very soon I checked back every 10 mins each time saying the car would be there very soon, but the car did not arrive until after 12.40. When the car did arrive, the airport team said we would be compensated as it was so late. However, when I followed up to ask for this compensation, I was told that this was not the case, and they cited the small print of their terms and conditions , which essentially says they can be as late as they want and do not need to issues any form of refund or compensation. At the airport, the Chamexpress desk area was very busy and disorganised, with many people waiting and complaining about delays. I will not use the service again and was very disappointed.
Patrick J — Google review
Despite being the only people in the transfer, they refused to collect us from our accommodation (3 mins drive from the pick-up spot) and changed the departure from 6.35am to 5.15am, meaning we got to the airport over 4 hours early. Do not recommend.

Lake
Lacs Noirs, located near the Brevent and Plan Praz lift stations in Chamonix, offer a quieter alternative to the popular Lac Blanc. The hike to Lacs Noirs provides breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and features dark-colored lakes that contrast beautifully with the rocky landscape. Accessible via lifts, this hike is recommended for those who enjoy a bit of scrambling over rocks and want to avoid crowds.
We were looking for the top hikes in Chamonix. We are in good shape and ok with a bit of scrambling over rocks. We try to avoid crowds as we enjoy it less. Somehow everyone sent us to Lac Blanc but we found it way too touristy so we continued to Lac Noir and... That's exactly what we love! The view of the mountains along the trail is breathtaking and the lake is magical. In end of July it's still covered in white. My suggestion is to take the lift from Les Praz to l’Index (around 2400) via Flegere. From there via Col de la Gliere towards Cornu. There were some points full of snow that were a bit tricky to pass. Come with poles! When you reach the Cornu ridge head to Noir. Amazing spot for lunch. Afterwards you can go down to Chamonix after a good beer or coffee in Altitude 2000 cafe. Don't miss this hike! It's gorgeous. By the way another must-do hike is La Jonction. Enjoy!
