Gardens
Cairns Botanic Gardens is a must-visit destination in Cairns, offering guided and audio tours amidst a remarkable collection of tropical plants. The garden provides numerous picturesque spots for family photos, capturing genuine emotions against the backdrop of lush greenery. It's also an ideal location for professional headshots, showcasing a tropical paradise setting. Additionally, visitors can explore the Cairns Aquarium nearby, home to diverse aquatic wildlife from the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforest.
Beautiful trees and plants along a winding pathway with a pretty lake. Has toilets, cafe and information centre. It has an area for music and bands to play. They have a market the last Sunday of the month, which I attended. There were varied locally made things to buy and also street food to eat. All in all a great place to visit.
Jan W — Google review
Beautiful gardens. Great place to go for a walk and enjoy the sights it has to offer. You can stroll around at your own leisure. Lots of amazing plants and flowers to take a photo of. You can even sit in the grass areas and enjoy a picnic.
Daniel O — Google review
The Cairns Botanical Gardens are a must-visit for anyone who enjoys botanical gardens or is spending time in the area with kids. The variety and beauty of the plants on display are simply stunning, and the gardens are so well maintained that every path feels like a new discovery. We especially enjoyed the scenic boardwalk and the lookout over the lake—it’s peaceful and offers a lovely view of the surrounding nature. The nature playground was a hit with the kids, and there were plenty of great spots to grab a bite or relax with a picnic. A perfect blend of natural beauty and family-friendly amenities!
Michael S — Google review
Tropical rainforest style botanical gardens with gorgeous rustic paths running alongside rivers winding their way through the gardens. A space of tranquility and calm, you will be sure to leave this place feeling calm, rested, and rejuvenated.

Very nice lots of exotic plants - We spent three hours here. It was very pleasant- cool in the rainforest shade out of the hot sun. Nice lakes to walk beside where we saw several turtles, 9 inch fish. Scrub turkeys, some other birds and ducks.
Ultimobile — Google review
Great way to spend an afternoon in the beautiful botanical garden. Amazing bird sound as you wander through the gardens. Loved the variety of flowering plants
Kathryn D — Google review
Beautiful spot. Friends of the Gardens run tours at 10am Mon to Fri and there's a bird tour Tuesdays at 7.30am! Look out for the Friends of the Garden visitors centre as well as the council run visitors centre - lots of awesome souvenirs in both, with Friends of the Garden very decently priced.

Cairns Botanic Gardens is a pleasant place to visit with a cozy little café and clean restrooms. It’s a peaceful spot with some nice walking paths and tropical plants. However, compared to botanic gardens in larger Australian cities, it’s relatively small and doesn’t feel as well-maintained. Worth a quick visit if you’re nearby, but not particularly impressive overall.

Cairns Aquarium, which opened in 2017, is a unique attraction dedicated to showcasing the diverse habitats and species of Tropical North Queensland. With over 16,000 sea creatures from 10 ecosystems and 71 habitats, it offers an immersive experience for visitors. The aquarium features tank-based exhibits created by Advanced Aquarium Technologies (AAT), including a Turtle Rehabilitation Centre. Guests can enjoy daily talks and animal presentations as well as interactive experiences like the Marine Life Encounter tour.
We had such a great experience at the aquarium. It is not only a place to see sea lives but also a venue to learn about the natural history of the surrounding area. A lot of animals and detailed information on them are available. Highly recommended for all ages.
Victor L — Google review
Fantastic set up, loads of different creatures. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful aquarium and worth every cent. Before we entered we thought it was a bit pricy but once we were inside we definitely got more than our moneys worth.
Keri K — Google review
AMAZING 🤩 The Cairns Aquarium is a great place for all ages it has lots of fish, lizards and snakes. The tickets are a bit pricey ($58 for adult pass) but they are the money's worth. Make some time for a good hour in the aquarium and exit through the gift shop afterwards. If you get in at opening times there is not much of a wait but after that you can be waiting for a half hour.
Liam M — Google review
Excellent display and presentation. Check the map for special feeding times etc. Take your own water for drinks. It's close inside, if that sort of thing affects you. Lots of photo opportunities. Good restaurant nearby.
Susan D — Google review
We did the Twilight tour and if you want to see the aquarium with a guide and be the only people in the aquarium, this is the way to go. We had 9 people plus our guide, Marine Biologist Neve, and she showed us everything! We learned a ton and got to ask as many questions as we wanted. There are plenty of fish and of course the sharks and rays, but also so many reptiles. And everyone has a great name. My fave being chopsticks the enormous 4 meter snake.
Aidy A — Google review
One of my favorite aquariums in Australia! My highlight was the Predators of the Reef tunnel with sharks and rays swimming overhead — amazing to see them up close. The aquarium takes you on a journey from rainforest rivers to the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea, with over 15,000 animals across different ecosystems. I loved the shark talk and all the different presentations, which make it both fun and educational.

Night toor was amazing! Felt like we had the place to ourselves. The exhibits are really great and our guides Cameron and Ruby were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic! Thanks a lot guys!

Great experience at the Cairns Aquarium. Location : Centrally located, walking distance to most accommodations in the city. Curation : plenty of local sealife. Very suitable for children, my 3 year old niece had a ball. Recommend getting tickets in advance so you can skip the queue.

Crystal Cascades is a natural paradise located in the heart of serene wilderness, just 15 kilometers west of Cairns. This breathtaking series of cascading waterfalls flows into natural swimming pools, creating a picture-perfect scene surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of nature. The area offers wonderful paths and trails for exploration, as well as picnic areas for relaxation.
Crystal Cascades is stunning. Clear water, rainforest all around, and plenty of spots to swim, relax, or explore. The walk is easy and peaceful. The water is cool and so refreshing! Great for families, friends, or just a solo nature fix. Bring swimmers, a picnic, and a sense of adventure — you’ll love it here. Perfect for a hot day. We loved it and can’t wait to go back! 💧🌿

Beautiful rainforest water holes Safe as to swim Plenty of places to venture and pick a spot to yourselves. Plenty of picnic areas. Toilets in car park and are very modern + change rooms. Plenty of parking.
Gavin W — Google review
Been in the region for years, but sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate what’s in your own backyard. Lovely 1.2 klm walk each way to the viewing platform. Slight incline; wheelchair friendly the whole way. Stayed strong and didn’t indulge at the ice cream van. Not sure of the hours but was there on a Saturday afternoon in October.
Murray W — Google review
Great place to get into freshwater. Also the rain forest is beautiful.I feel this place is under rated as there are no commercial outlets around. You get to see nature at its best in this place. Must visit for all tourists. Also the water was crystal clear. There are public toilets at the car park. There is no place close by to buy food, it would be better to carry food if you are spending time by getting into water. This place might get slippery when it rains. It's accessible till the viewing platform near the main Falls. There are barbecue and picnic places on the way.
Shishir J — Google review
Beautiful spot. You do have to walk uphill a bit, but in my opinion, it’s quite an easy walk. And we saw so many turtles in the water 🐢.
Iduna B — Google review
Clean toilets and nice paved walk up to viewing platform of falls. Was steep and little slippery so better to walk in good shoes. Plenty of lower pools to choose to paddles and explore rocks.
Alexander W — Google review
Easy walk to waterfall 1.2km uphill, paved all the way. Three swimming spots in total. Beautiful area, cool water. Car park with toilets. Free entry.
Fiona H — Google review
Beautiful 10 minute walk to an amazing swimming hole with a waterfall! The place has public toilets and a built pathway to the waterfall where you can swim. Place is clean and parking is good, busy but there's always spots free. Free entry, kid friendly, family friendly. Its not hard to find and you can drive straight there, 10 minutes from redlynch shopping centre

History Museums
Cairns Museum, located in the former School of Arts building, offers a captivating journey through the history of life in the tropics. The museum showcases a diverse collection of objects, photographs, and archival records that chronicle Cairns' evolution from early Indigenous occupation to its development as a bustling port town and tourist destination. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring items such as sugar cane wagon wheels, World War II ration cards, 1960s swimsuits, and even stuffed cane toads.
We had a 30 minute stop at the museum as part of a day tour with another company. James was assigned to us - and what can I say - he was A - M - A - Z - I - N - G. I could have stayed all day with him - he was informative, funny, kind and inclusive. I highly recommend that anyone who visits Cairms - they should visit this museum and learn what the city is all about. It is an incredible history. Thank you James, in particular, for making our short time with you so wonderful.
Lori T — Google review
Lovely little Museum in the heart of Cairns. Great history displays on local area, indigenous displays. Building of the Railway etc, lot's of info on individuals who made up Cairns history. Nice open veranda area upstairs with a breezy view of Cairns streets. Worth the visit, very reasonable price for entry. Recommend!
Debbie L — Google review
We went to the museum this afternoon. Our guide James displayed a remarkable depth of knowledge about the history of Cairns. From the indigenous arrival 60,000 years ago to the relevant tribes of the area James named the current groups and some of their customs. In 1860 it all changed. Arrival of the white man in an international gold rush. James covered the complete history of the area through the Kanakas, to various relevant development phases up to present day. All this explained through an excellent array of historic displays. I encourage visitors (and locals too) to spend an hour gathering some local colour from this top establishment Find it in the green building corner of Lake & Shields St.

Very disappointing.. def not worth $15 .. smallest most expensive museum i have ever been too ... didn't know backpacks were soo important to cairns lmao .. do not recommend wasting you $$ here

Really excellent and informative museum. Sensitively and professionally curated with a wide range of stories, objects and photos. Gives a real flavour of and insight into the complexity of the past of the area and all its people. Would recommend.

Great museum, we learned lots of things about the area. Loved the terrace, shame there isn't small coffee shop on it.

Barron Gorge National Park, located near Cairns, is a riverside park featuring lush tropical rainforests and trails that lead to stunning waterfall and gorge views. The park offers half-day tours due to its proximity to Cairns, providing flexibility in pick-up times. Visitors can enjoy high-adrenaline activities with provided safety equipment and guides for a thrilling experience amidst the natural beauty of the park.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stunning Natural Beauty at Barron Gorge! Barron Gorge in Kuranda is absolutely breathtaking! We’ve been there twice now, and it’s just as impressive each time. The combination of lush rainforest, rugged cliffs, and the powerful Barron Falls makes this place a must-visit for anyone exploring Far North Queensland. The lookout points provide spectacular views, especially after heavy rain when the falls are at their most powerful. The boardwalks and viewing platforms are well-maintained, making it easy to enjoy the scenery. The Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic Railway offer incredible perspectives of the gorge, and driving up to the lookout is a great option too. We love how peaceful and untouched the area feels, despite being a popular attraction. The surrounding rainforest is full of wildlife, and the sounds of nature add to the experience. Both times we visited, we were blown away by how majestic it all looked. If you’re in the Cairns or Kuranda area, Barron Gorge is definitely worth the trip. Whether you’re a nature lover, photographer, or just someone looking for a beautiful place to visit, this spot has it all. We’ll definitely be back again!

I had a couple of hours spare so I went for a drive feom Cairns. It is not far and I wasn't expecting much. But I have to admit it is a little breath taking. Photos do not do it any justice. I would l9ve to see this is the wet seasin
Mathew F — Google review
The park is lovely with a nice easy walk but the falls were a bit Barron! Not a lot of water seen but can imagine how impressive it would be after some heavy rain.
Pamela R — Google review
It's always great hiking in a national park but we found signature for the Barron Gorge lookout confusing, and weren't the only ones. We got there in the end, doing approx 4km which helped burn off breakfast.
Andrew R — Google review
Such a beautiful spot. The walk ways are very easy and well maintained. The views are incredible 😍
Morgan J — Google review
You need waaayyy more time in Kuranda but the travel to Kuranda in the gondola is next level. Would love to see the waterfall in the wet season

Embark on a journey through time and nature with the Kuranda Scenic Railway, an iconic vintage train ride that connects Cairns and Kuranda. Dating back to 1891, this historic railway offers a glimpse into the challenges faced by pioneers who built it, including hand-cut tunnels and harsh conditions. As you traverse through lush rainforests, catch sight of cascading waterfalls and the breathtaking Barron Gorge.
Beautiful place to visit with family, partner, or friends! You can walk, eat at one of the many restaurants, and take the scenic railway to Kuranda. Along the way, you'll stop at a lookout point to take in the stunning views. Once you arrive in Kuranda, you'll have plenty of restaurant options to choose from. You can also stroll around, and be sure to visit the butterfly sanctuary. It's a truly beautiful place! One tip: be sure to buy your tickets in advance, as you'll have the option to choose your transportation. There are two options: you can take a bus to a designated point, then board the railway, or take the railway for the return journey. The train ride offers breathtaking views, making it a great way to cap off your day. Highly recommended!"
Stephy M — Google review
Great train ride, good views and at the scenic locations the train even slows down to enjoy the views! The combination of train ride and the gondola is not cheap, but its an unique experience with a rich history.
Sander V — Google review
We took the railway up and the cable car down. It was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed the commentary about the railway and the views. It was well organised and there were clean restrooms and a cafe at the station while you wait for the train. Everything ran efficiently and was well organised. We highly recommend this experience A+++
Party T — Google review
We took the railway up, and the skyrail down (2 ad + 2 tweens). It was a stunning trip up to Kuranda. The landscape is beautiful. The handouts are great, and it was really nice to follow along with the map, corresponding to the audio voice over at points of interest. There was a brief stop at Barron Falls to allow a better view of the waterfall. A truly lovely experience.
Danielle Z — Google review
A wonderful trip to Kuranda. We were fortunate to get Gold pass at the last moment. It was very relaxing with drink and morning/afternoon tea service. Very comfy lounge seating. Would recommend 👌
Julie C — Google review
Lovely train ride from Cairns to Kuranda with stunning views. So much history & very informative. Journey takes 2hrs one way. I paid $85 for a return ticket. I had to reschedule my booking multiple times, which wasn't an issue. Definitely recommend booking in advance.
Nga M — Google review
A truly spectacular and scenic journey! The Kuranda Scenic Railway is a must-do for anyone visiting Cairns. The old-school train carriages are charming, and the ride through the rainforest is breathtaking. The views of Barron Falls are incredible, and it's amazing to see the engineering of the track. A perfect way to experience the beauty of the Wet Tropics.
Santosh B — Google review
A lovely experience. If you want to do the sky rail as well then your best option is to take the sky rail up to Kurando and book both through the sky rail site and add a bus transfer to the lower sky rail station. Then you can stay on the scenic railway all the way back to Cairns station. The trip itself was 100% scenic with some amazing corners in the tracks and views of several waterfalls. The trip back to Cairns takes about 1.5 hours. Cheers and enjoy

Cairns Esplanade Lagoon is a man-made saltwater pool located in the heart of Cairns' CBD, offering a safe and jellyfish-free swimming experience. Spanning 4800 square meters, it features different areas for various activities such as lap swimming and family fun. Lifeguards patrol the lagoon during opening hours, ensuring safety for all visitors. The adjacent foreshore boardwalk provides picnic spots, birdwatching areas, free barbecues, and fitness equipment.
Free public pool in the middle of the city centre, with a view of the coastline. The pool varies in depth so perfect for toddlers and kids, and then up to all ages. Goes up to 1.55m which was nice if you’re coming with family or a group of people. The water is warm so that’s also a perk. There’s a few lifeguards around as well, but obviously they’re not babysitters so make sure to look after your own kids for everyone’s safety.
Kat T — Google review
I visited on a Sunday, and the place was lively with people of all ages, from small children to elderly couples. By around 1pm, more and more people had arrived to sunbathe, and it got to the point where there were hardly any spots left to sit. Still, the pool itself wasn’t too crowded, and it was a very comfortable and relaxing experience overall.🏊‍♂️ While sitting by the pool and chatting with a friend, we noticed an older man across from us staring in our direction for nearly an hour. As we were getting ready to leave, he suddenly approached and said he was going to teach us how to swim. We politely declined, saying we had to go, and he walked away. To be honest, it didn’t leave a very good impression, and I would suggest being cautious if someone like that approaches you. It seemed like he was specifically targeting people who looked like tourists. Frankly, it felt like he may have had other intentions, possibly just wanting to touch someone. Other than that, there were no real issues with the place. Some people say public pools can have an unpleasant smell, but I didn’t notice any urine smell at all The depth of the water goes up to 1.55m in the deeper areas, so you can comfortably submerge up to your neck, which made it even more enjoyable.

Loved comming here on my holiday. Such a great way to have free fun. There are toilets and showers and if you are travelling solo like me or you need somewhere to put your stuff you can use the pay lockers.

Beautiful one day, perfect the next! 🌴✨ The Cairns Esplanade Lagoon is absolutely stunning — crystal-clear waters, great facilities, and such a relaxing vibe. Perfect spot for a swim, sunbake, or just taking in the tropical atmosphere. A must-visit when in Cairns!
Dylan S — Google review
A large, free saltwater swimming lagoon right on the Esplanade. It’s well-maintained, has lifeguards, public toilets, and showers. Even if you’re not swimming, it’s a nice place to walk past or sit near. We visited in the morning when it was quiet, and the view was amazing! It’s open Thursday through Tuesday 6 AM to 9 PM and on Wednesdays from noon to 9 PM - per the website when I wrote this review.
Green K — Google review
Awesome like the best of a beach and the best of a pool all put together. Make sand castles without the waves crashing up and knocking them down. Walk into the pool with sand at your feet. Plenty of cafes and shady grass spots around to. Plus it has a manned life guard tower
DJ W — Google review
I didn't know the lagoon existed until we walked the esplanade and came across it. It is remarkably clean and well maintained. The surrounding grass and boardwalk are is also well maintained, there are bbq facilities and even powerpoints for charging devices. There were 2 life guards on duty every time we were there. The toilets were clean, however the showers needed to be cleaned when we were there. It's fantastic to have such good facilities free to the public. It was better here than at the Novotel where we were staying.
Danielle Z — Google review
The Cairns Esplanade Lagoon is hands down one of the best public swimming pools I’ve been to! It’s a fantastic place to cool off, especially with the tropical heat. The location is perfect—right on the waterfront, offering stunning views of the Coral Sea. The pool itself is huge, well-maintained, and has plenty of shallow areas, making it great for families with kids as well as adults just looking to relax. One of the things I love most is that it’s completely free! It’s rare to find such a high-quality public facility at no cost. There are lifeguards on duty, which adds a layer of safety, and the water is always crystal clear. The surrounding area is also great, with BBQ facilities, shaded spots, and plenty of seating for those who just want to enjoy the atmosphere.

Cairns Night Markets, located in the city center opposite the Esplanade, is a bustling indoor market open every night of the year. It offers a wide variety of products including local souvenirs, arts and crafts, exotic fruits and vegetables. The food court is a major highlight with its affordable Asian-inspired eateries and cheap drinks from the bar. With over 131 stalls, visitors can shop for locally made goods such as textiles, artwork, daily items, and handicrafts.
Cairns Market Night is located right in the heart of the city and comes alive, especially at night. It’s an excellent spot for dining, with a wide variety of restaurants and food stalls offering something for everyone. The market also features several shops, making it a great place to browse and pick up souvenirs. One of the best parts is its proximity to the beach, just a few minutes’ walk away. A perfect evening might include enjoying a delicious dinner at the market, followed by a relaxing stroll along the beach. The only challenge can be parking, as it tends to fill up quickly in the evening. Still, the lively atmosphere, food variety, and nearby beach make it a fantastic place to hang out and unwind.

Fairly small market with a number of food choices. Lots of small items for sale with some interesting shops to see. Ended up getting some small souvenirs to bring back to the kids after spending about 30 mins here. Half an hour to an hour is probably as much time as you can spend here as it is not a large place, but worth visiting if you are in the area.

The Cairns Night Market was a fun and lively experience! It’s the perfect place to wander in the evening, with a great mix of local stalls, souvenirs, and tasty food options. I enjoyed browsing through the variety of items — everything from handmade crafts to tropical-themed gifts. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with friendly vendors and a nice mix of tourists and locals. The food court had plenty of choices, especially if you’re in the mood for Asian cuisine or sweet treats. It’s not a huge market, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Cairns and want to soak up the local vibe after dark. A great spot to grab a bite, pick up a few souvenirs, and enjoy the night energy of the city!

Cairns Night Market is the place to explore locally made art, clothes, and food. Plus you can buy plenty of souvenirs. You can also stop for a massage or get your tarots read. It’s a great mix of options all in one place.

The size of this sporty and amazing little town will bring you to to the night markets every now and then maybe more than a couple of times in the day. If you crave for some great food and you would like to taste some grateful Lilliput of desert scrapes bubble tea.
Irawati J — Google review
In general it is a nice place to visit when in Cairns, but what they sell is just overpriced souvenirs. The food court was nice though, many options available, mostly Asian food though. This place might get busy in the evenings. There is an ATM in this market if you need cash.

Touristy spot with some local and handcrafted goods and different mostly Asian foods, but disappointed that many of the goods made in china. I did get a t shirt for $10 but passed over the Chinese made jewelry and kitsch touristy items.

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway offers a unique way to experience the ancient rainforest in Tropical North Queensland. The 7.5km cable car ride takes you over the rainforest canopy, with opportunities to explore two rainforest floor stations along the way - Red Peak and Barron Falls. The journey provides stunning views and a chance to spot electric blue Ulysses butterflies.
Skyrail Cairns was an unforgettable experience! The views over the rainforest were absolutely stunning, and the entire journey was peaceful and relaxing. We felt very safe at every station, and the information provided along the way was clear and helpful. It made the experience even more meaningful and educational. The shops at the stations were fun to browse through, and the photos taken at the end turned out beautifully — a lovely keepsake from the day. We truly enjoyed every part of the ride. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cairns — it’s a must-do experience!

I 100% recommend doing the skyrail. I did it there and back and WOW such amazing views. You get if at two stops between the start and finish and you get the most amazing views of the rainforest and the waterfall. I also fully recommend getting of at karunda and exploring the town, it was so beautiful.

Amazing experience gliding over World Heritage rainforest with stunning views of Barron Falls and the canopy. The mid-stations with boardwalks and ranger talks make it more than just a ride—it’s educational and memorable. Diamond View gondolas are worth it for the glass floor. It can get warm in the cabins and busy at peak times, but overall it’s a must-do when visiting Cairns.

We took the railway up & the skyrail down. Excellent experience - a definite highlight of the holiday. Staff were friendly and efficient. Spectacular views. Great gift shop. The stops were great to make it a full experience and provide great views of the falls. It works very well, being able to get on and off, with staff talking you through the process each time, and keeping it running smoothly.

Take the train up and Skyrail down. Book in advance. Hop off the Skyrail on the way back to see the waterfall from the other side ( better view). 8am to 1pm was more than enough to see everything. They will say you must be there 30 minutes before train’s departure, but look 10-15 is plenty.

Another great trip while in Cairns, scenic rail to the Karunda village, aboriginal experience, cruise down river on army ducks, then the amazing trip down on the skyrail. Highly recommend this day trip. It's a long day but we'll worth it.
Bruce M — Google review
An experience well worth the cost and time… Left from the base terminal at the earliest (8:30 am) time available…} Possibly the best time to go - to beat the crowds, especially during peak season (School Holidays in July)… Stopped at each location along the considerable ride and worth each one…. To smell and hear the rain-forest is worth it. The staff were so accommodating and attempted were possible to seat people for the best possible experience… Give yourself at least 1/2 a day to experience both the Skyrail and Kuranda.

Rusty's Markets is a lively and bustling marketplace located in the heart of Cairns. Open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5 am, this enclosed market has been a weekend staple since 1975. With over 180 stalls offering a wide variety of goods including fresh produce, apparel, gifts, and flowers, it's a great stop for budget-conscious travelers.
Most of tropical fruits and vegetables are available. Friday is the best day for buying fresh fruits and vegetables. Worth to visit. They got good Vietnam’s coffee and different smoothies and fresh fruit juice. Worth to try the coconut shell fruit salad.

It’s a pretty small but cute market. The main deal is fresh vegetables and fruits that look amazing. There are a couple of stands for vintage objects and books and then food such as Thai, Korean, Indian, etc. It’s definitely worth it to go and have a look but don’t expect anything huge. You can look at everything in 20 minutes.

Walked over at 7am on a Sunday morning - some places in the market were not open yet. There was so much fresh produce- fruits and veggies - farm fresh and priced were very reasonable.

Great variety of fruit and vegies available in this market , price is quite reasonable. Market is crowded with a lot of stalls and food choices . Food however did not come up to our expectation and quite pricey.
Mia D — Google review
This market is a nice place to buy fruit, and the pre-cut mango was sweet and delicious. However, there isn’t really a proper place to sit and eat inside, and most stalls sell the exact same fruits at similar prices, which was a bit disappointing. It’s worth a visit if you have plenty of time, but I wouldn’t call it a must-see.

Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park is a sprawling Indigenous cultural center in Cairns, offering homestyle meals and a buffet. Located near the popular Cairns Esplanade, it's a great attraction for families with its nearby restaurants, picnic areas, and BBQ facilities. Visitors from California enjoyed the interactive dinner show featuring traditional tribal dance and fire making. The park offers an immersive experience where guests can learn about Aboriginal culture in Australia's rainforest.
It’s a great cultural experience. They’re friendly share their knowledge. Especially, have to join the cultural creations and Indigenous Guided Bush Food Walk, traditional weave and Jewellery making, painting a boomerang and guide on a tour of the parklands learning about native plants, Finish Bush Food Walk having a taste of native fruits jam with bread and billy, it’s very delicious. Keep up the great work on sharing your culture!

This was a great cultural experience. Learned about the aboriginal culture in Australia’s rainforest. Everyone was very friendly and excited to share their knowledge. Can easily spend an entire day there, but half day is sufficient. Make sure to check schedule to be able to visit the shows. We paid a little extra for the cultural creations and were able to make a bracelet/necklace and paint a returning boomerang that we got to bring home. We were able to throw boomerangs and spears in an open field which was a lot of fun. For lunch, we got a tasting plate for 2 which had a great selection of Australian food (kangaroo, emu, crocodile, prawns, etc.). A must see for anyone wanting to learn about culture in Cairns area. Keep up the great work on sharing your culture!

Highly recommended experience with lots of different fun activities including spear & Boomerang throwing. The dance show was amazing as well. Special shout-out to the very friendly staff and guides!
Ramzi K — Google review
Very interesting. The guided tour lasted 2.5 hours approximately with different stations. Our favourite being the boomerang and spear throwing (although we would have liked to throw more than 2 spears and 3 tries at the boomerang throwing, guessing this is because of the size of the last tour at 2pm for the day). We were disappointed that the boomerang painting was only at 11:30am. Also our guided tour didn’t do all the things promised in the brochure, we didn’t do the face painting or traditional oven demonstration and guessing other items listed were all done in the dance. None the less fun, informative and friendly staff. The cafe had delicious food for lunch as well.
Toni M — Google review
This is a fun experience. The dinner show was fabulous. They interact with the audience. Our overseas visitors from California really enjoyed themselves getting involved in traditional tribal dance and fire making. Giving us all facial paint was also fun. The buffet food was fantastic. We planned it that we attended after catching the cable car down from Kuranda as it is located not far from there. Altogether a great experience and highly recommended.

I have a great interest in Aboriginal culture and this place blew me away. There is many displays to look at including a dance performance and guided experiences to take part in including boomerang & spear throwing, learning about bush foods and their rituals. There is a variety of experiences that are offered as extensions which I did both the creative experience & bush tucker & medicine walk which included lunch ($30) and afternoon tea.

We visited the tjapukai theater in the afternoon. After entering you see the hall where there is an exhibition of various things used by the aborigines, there art and culture. Then you enter the theater. Where a group of aborigine dancers welcomes you. Their leader was very funny and won over the crowd. They narrated their culture and traditions, their musical instruments and the importance of making fire using traditional methods. They were also gonna display the throwing of boomerang, but as it was raining heavily outside, they couldn't. But they displayed marvelous songs and dance of their culture. They also got the crowd involved, as their song had a nice rythm and beat to it. Has to say tjapukai theater is an impressive show.👌🏼👍🏻

Nestled in the heart of Cairns, Saint Monica's Cathedral stands as a remarkable testament to both art and spirituality. Known for its breathtaking stained glass windows—boasting the world's largest themed collection—these masterpieces narrate stories from creation to the historic Battle of the Coral Sea. While it may not initially catch your eye, this Catholic church reveals its charm gradually, inviting visitors to explore its serene interiors and rich history.
Wonderful Easter Saturday night vigil at St. Monica's Cathedral, Cairns, North Australia. After the Battle of Coral Sea destroyed Australia's North Coast, St Monica's was rebuilt with 56 glorious ceiling to floor stained glass windows of the Creation. Last is the "Peace Window' of the wreckage which covered the Pacific after the war - that it never happen again.

A church with extremely beautiful stained glass that illustrates the creation and revelation story that's seems materialistically accurate. Highly recommend going there! If you are interested in reflection whilst looking at the stained glass, I highly recommend buying the calendar - it has reflections for each window (from the book of Job)

Rosanna B — Google review
What a lovely church and glorious stained glass windows, depicting creation from a Biblical, scientific, and Australian/ aboriginal perspective in a manner that focuses on nature and wonder. Approaching on a quiet, sunny Monday afternoon, I could tell from the blowing curtain at the entrance and open doors on both sides, that the breezes and views would be wonderful. This is a church so please be respectful and remove your hat and allow church members to use their church. It is very generous of the cathedral to open their house to the public and be so welcoming and available. Some ugly tourists came in while I was there and proceeded to walk up on to the pulpit to take pictures and stood in front of people obviously praying, ugh. I was lucky to arrive with some local school children and the start of the 30+ minute non-preachy and informative audio presentation, definitely with doing if you can arrange the timing. I am not a Catholic but was very impressed by the message and the glory of our world and Creation presented here - definitely one of top things to see in Cairns IMO.

Located in a restored 1936 government building, Cairns Art Gallery is the only visual art museum in Far North Queensland. Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2005, the gallery has been dedicated to documenting and presenting the history, heritage, and contemporary culture of Australia and the world through visual arts, craft, and design. With four exhibition spaces showcasing around 30 exhibitions annually, it features national and international artists with a strong emphasis on local and indigenous works.
The Indigenous artwork is beautiful and the accompanying artist introductions informative. I would recommend that people attend this exhibition, which is on until September 2025.

The art gallery is very small but worth the visit. When I went, a whole floor was closed since they were getting it ready for an exhibition so I could not see much. It’s enough to have a little cultural experience in such a small location. The shop is very nice, lots of books and aboriginal art work.
Joel M — Google review
Went with my 9 year old daughter as she loves coming here to see the new and free art exhibitions in cool air-conditioned comfort as do I. As locals, this exhibition was so beautiful with Indigenous art work, with our favourites in "The Loft". The video of the female elder recollection was beautiful and transported me to her childhood in the Mungalli country up here. The artwork added to that and my daughter was visibly entranced. We love the Art Galley and make it a ritual. Great for kids as well as adults as well as tourists and locals. The photos attached are the ones my daughter took. She asked to take them as she loved the work. Every exhibition is beautiful and wonderfully showcased! ❤️😊

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stepping into the Cairns Art Gallery was like walking through time — a peaceful and inspiring highlight from my recent cruise visit. I was instantly struck by the building itself, a beautifully restored 1936 heritage landmark that once served as the Public Curator’s Office and Government Savings Bank. It carries a quiet grandeur that reminds you how much history and heart live within Cairns. Inside, the experience is deeply calming and beautifully curated. Every exhibition feels intentional — from contemporary collections to breathtaking Indigenous works that speak to the spirit of North Queensland. The gallery invites you to slow down, reflect, and really take in the artistry and stories that have shaped this region. What I loved most was the stillness — the sense that art, history, and soul all meet under one roof. Whether you’re an artist, a dreamer, or simply exploring Cairns for the first time, this gallery is a must-visit. It’s a timeless little sanctuary that captures the creative heartbeat of Far North Queensland.

We did the Koala and Wildlife Park and the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, but wee unable to get tickets for the Army Duck Tour as we booked fairly last minute and there were a lot of tour groups present. The Wildlife Park was small but nice, and the combination of activities made for a great day out. The Panagirri Aboriginal Experience included demonstrations of didgeridoo playing, spear throwing and some dances, as well as getting a chance to throw a boomerang. All guides were very nice and explained what they were doing, but a bit more history and explanation of why would have been interesting. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area!!

We went as part of a tour group. It was an overall great experience. Lunch was good and staff were friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the Koala photo experience was too short and transactional. We paid $41 for a single photo and the entire experience with the koala lasted no more than 10 seconds, just enough for the staff to snap a picture. It may be better if the group can have a closer look at the koala with some commentary? The experience felt too impersonal and only focused on the picture alone. Other than that, it was great. The Army Duck tour guide was educational and funny. We enjoyed it.

All the three experiences were great. Aboriginal dance, boomerang and their history was the best. It was great to experience the army duck. Animals were great for my kids. Amazing nature conserve and education centre, we visited as part of a tour and after 5 hours wished we had more time still. Great aboriginal demonstrations and very accessible viewing of the animals of Australia. We had an awesome guide for the DUKW tour who gave us loads of information on many indigenous plants on the tour. After all that we wandered around to read the information signs for the many trees and plants they have there. We really enjoyed our visit there.

Food at the buffet was delicious with many good options. We really enjoyed seeing koalas, crocodiles and kangaroos and could tell that they were well cared for. Every staff member we encountered at the park was polite and helpful. The Aboriginal dance performance was wonderful and the performers were very friendly. They even taught us how to throw a boomerang, which was a memorable experience. The army duck tour was both fun and informative. We learned about the different plants in the rainforest. Our driver, Rhys (if I remember his name correctly), was fantastic! His sense of humor and commentary made the drive engaging. He shared many interesting facts, which made our experience even better. We will be coming back!

Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome, situated atop the Reef Hotel Casino, is a popular tourist destination in Cairns. The sanctuary houses various animals such as reptiles, birds, marsupials, and tropical fish. Visitors can engage in interactive experiences like feeding carnivorous birds or enjoying exclusive encounters with koalas. Additionally, guests can opt for a Private Wildlife Experience to tour the park with a wildlife keeper and interact with three animals of their choice.
This was a great way to spend a few hours with the kids. We got them in time to do the tour with one of the staff members. Stephen was very informative and took the time to answer all of the kids questions. We also took in the reptile show, which was very interesting for the kids. They got a chance to touch a snake and blue tongued Stink. The kids for a chance to do all of the ropes courses, building walk and the rope drop. They very much enjoyed it. We also did the Koala hold, which the kids enjoyed. But it was very short, about 30 seconds. Would have been nice to spend a little longer holding the animal.

My daughter and I had such an amazing time. This place was fantastic and reasonably priced for a Cairns activity. The staff were all great and as a 6 year old, my daughter loved the Mid and High Zoom. Please don’t close this place. Now we have found it we want to return often.

After many years we have revisited the Wildlife Dome, one place you don’t want to miss when you visit Cairns! Unfortunately I read in the local news that they are going to close this beautiful place 😢, what a loss for Cairns and the visiting tourists. Yes it has become a bit outdated but where else in Australia can you see wildlife up close on the roof of a casino!? The last time we visited, both my wife and I were ambulant, unfortunately my wife is now wheelchair bound which makes visiting a lot of place more difficult, despite all the wheelchair ramps etc - believe me I speak out of experience. Upon arrival at the roof top, staff were quickly to assist us so we could enjoy our outing to the Dome. All staff we came across during our visit were so friendly and helpful, just fantastic and that despite the impending loss of this attraction. If you can go and see this attraction before it’s too late and don’t forget youngsters will have a ball doing the Zoom activities.

What a fabulous place. Enjoy walking through the roof top looking at the wildlife and chatting with the keeper or if you want to test you skills try the zoom walk, Ropes, ladders and skywalk your way around the purpose built skills and ability course. We received a booking as a Christmas gift from a family member as we are visiting from Harvey Bay and I was a little nervous with One of my children being autistic and not knowing what to expect however we all absolutely loved it. the staff were amazing and we will be coming back again to do even more adventures climbing even higher. We especially loved how the wet weather outside does not affect the attraction experience. Definitely a must do attraction. ♥️ The Baker family

Palm Cove Beach is a stunning destination with palm-fringed coastlines, luxury resorts, and a rich historical significance dating back thousands of years. It offers a tranquil setting for swimming and fishing on the jetty. The beach is backed by an esplanade lined with palm trees and cafes, creating a picturesque atmosphere for visitors. In addition to its natural beauty, Palm Cove features a luxurious village with boutique hotels, fine dining restaurants, and fancy cocktail bars that cater to tourists from around the world.
Beautiful beach at Palm Cove. Cleanliness is next level. Plenty of beachside bbq’s that are cleaned daily. Swim within the flags though as the area warns of stingers and crocodiles 🐊 🪼 The Esplanade shopping strip has wonderful restaurants to choose from. Weather was perfect, absolute paradise!
Frantastic F — Google review
It's a lovely long beach for a walk patrolled so safe to swim within the flags but oh so windy on the day we went. We had coffee and cake just across from the beach. Everywhere is so busy different from the Ellis beach vibe.

Beautiful beach good for swimming and surfing. Lifeguard watch area for safe swimming. Kids and enjoy playing in water and also some play area on the beach.Parking a bit difficult on the beach but can get spots at the side streets. And also there is a place for shower and change.

Military Museums
The Australian Armour & Artillery Museum in Cairns, Australia is a top destination for those interested in military history. The museum showcases a wide range of exhibits dating back to the 1800s, with a particular focus on WWII artifacts. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of armored vehicles, cannons, and tanks while learning about the country's military heritage. Additionally, the museum offers an immersive experience that allows guests to gain insight into combat equipment and historical significance.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Incredible collection — so glad we've got 3 days to see it all! We visited yesterday and are already planning to go back tomorrow. The 3-day ticket is perfect — there's so much to see, and you don’t want to rush through it. The museum is huge and very well organised. Tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery — all beautifully restored and displayed. The variety and scale of the collection are truly impressive. It’s great for all ages. Whether you're a history buff or just curious, you'll find something fascinating. Highly recommended — give yourself plenty of time to take it all in. We’re so glad we did!
Marie C — Google review
What an impressive collection! If you're a history buff or just enjoy learning, I can highly recommend visiting this museum. You can get up close and observe machinery and weaponry that have survived for hundreds of years. So much to see, and several experiences such as the shooting gallery and Humvee rides available to observe or participate in (get there early!) There is a play area for the kids, and a well stocked gift shop. Be prepared it is quite warm inside the very large shed, so stay hydrated.
Bonnie B — Google review
Well worth a visit if you’re into this type of boys toys. Everything is well laid out and the information boards are informative. There are special activity days and also you can book rides on a couple of vehicles but check first. Another busy attraction is the rifle range downstairs
Dennis H — Google review
Awesome collection of armour/tanks. Been following their YouTube channel for awhile now and was keen to visit. Must see if you are into WW2 Tanks and history as well as more modern armour. Warning, a large collection and so much to look at just don't take a partner that is not as interested in it as much as you are...lol. I needed more time to read the descriptions and take reference pictures for my model kit set growing collection.
Warren R — Google review
Definitely worth every penny. Really admire the love and care that went into keeping everything in pristine condition. The displays are well layed out and the shop has plenty of things you can buy for memories. Easy parking and there are clean public toilets on site.
Hai B — Google review
I was expecting it to be great and it was even better than that! A must-see fir any fans of artillery, the military, war history and memorabilia. I recommend paying for the top tier shooting range package.

Amazing ! Had a great day . Driven around in a Humvee was great fun. Used a couple of guns on the range, all done very safely . Lots of historic vehicles and a really good gift shop .
Sean C — Google review
If you haven't been here then you should definitely put it on your bucket list. This is one of the better collections of Armour and artillery pieces in the world. To maximise your time and experience here I would recommend to come to Ausarmourfest where you can ride some of the tanks and get to see some truly rare pieces of history in motion. Ausarmourfest was well organised and executed we all had a ball and took away some life time memories with us. Thank you to all the staff who were friendly and very helpful plus answered any and all of our questions. keep up the great work and good luck with the maintenance and clean up after another epic event.

We recently attended a cocktail masterclass at Wolf Lane Distillery as part of a team-building activity, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The team looked after our group of 20 (a rather lively bunch) with professionalism, patience, and a great sense of fun. The venue itself was excellent—well-equipped, stylish, and perfect for this kind of event. The staff were friendly, engaging, and clearly experts at what they do, making the experience both educational and entertaining. If you’re looking for a unique and well-organised team-building activity or just somewhere different to have that afternoon beverage, I highly recommend Wolf Lane Distillery. A top-notch experience from start to finish!

A quiet sedentary afternoon sipping away on a paddle of Wolf Lane's finest. The Navy strength... it's strong, delicious, and delightful with soda. Keeping it simple, I recommend a dry gin martini to follow... there's a limited but eclectic choice of cocktails and mocktails. The highlight is the friendly, polite, and skilled bar staff. Tash is exceptional, a credit to the Wolf Lane team!

We had a great evening here trying a number of different cocktails (my favourite was the dragonfruit one!) - and then came back the following day at 10am for a distillery tour as we had some time to kill before a flight. The explanation of the distilling process was great... we learnt a lot about gin! We were also impressed that they were able to accommodate us for a tour with no warning, at 1 minute past opening time! We walked out more knowledgeable and with a purchased bottle or two in tow. We look forward to visiting again when next in Cairns, and to purchasing their delicious-sounding Christmas Pudding gin online later this year. 🍻

Cairns Wake Park is a lively destination that offers a variety of water activities suitable for all ages. Visitors can enjoy waterskiing, kneeboarding, and wakeboarding in the man-made freshwater lake. The park provides beginner equipment and also hosts kids club sessions during school holidays. Additionally, it features floating slides, trampolines, and challenging obstacles for an exciting experience.
It was a fantastic experience for a first-timer. My husband purchased the two-hour session. After a brief safety video, the first-timer is required to successfully kneeboard around the course, avoiding all the ramps. This took at least an hour to learn and required considerable upper body strength. After switching boards, Sam assisted by placing the board in the water until the standing position was mastered. Sam was very encouraging and invested as an instructor. Although my husband didn't manage to complete the course while standing, I highly recommend this experience. We also purchased the delicious chili nachos from John at the snack bar. We highly recommend this as well.

Really great experience here with a somewhat challenging group! The staff were all very friendly and clearly enjoyed their work. The coaches were patient and helpful for our group of English language learners. Even the locals were friendly, encouraging, and helpful with us. They definitely have a good community going! They were also accommodating as we changed our sessions and session lengths multiple times. The prices are reasonable (almost cheap!) compared to other similar activities.
Blake — Google review
tl;dr unwelcoming, hidden costs, do not recommend My friend and I are moderately experienced boat wakeboarders, but it was our first time trying cable. We booked a 2 hour pass on advance, and were told to come whenever we liked. Upon arrival, we were flat out ignored by the staff for about 10 minutes. Eventually, once we were acknowledged, we were shown a short safety video which did little to explain anything. We were then given a life jacket and helmet, but were not told anything about where to find the rental boards. We looked around for a bit and eventually found them. They were pretty much just planks, and did not even have bindings meaning there were difficult to stay in. Additionally, we were informed that we were not allowed to try the obstacles, as we did not pay extra to rent a "pro board". This meant that we were constrained to get dragged around on flat water for 2 whole hours. To add to this, when we asked if we could ride doubles (a very common request, and there were many others doing it), we were denied as it is a feature reserved for members only. That brings me to my final qualm. We were the only non members, and most of the members were aggressively unfriendly, often cutting in line and being generally disrespectful. A member took the handle I had in my hands off me, as he wanted to go right then. Many other young kids were pulling downright dangerous moves, jumping in the water right in front of the starting dock as I was about to go. The cable operator did nothing to discourage this, and all the parents of the young kids were drinking by the clubhouse. I was really looking forward to trying cable wakeboarding, but was thoroughly disappointed. I strongly advise against going to Cairns Wake Park. It was a bad experience and not worth the money.
Joel O — Google review
Really enjoyable experience. Short briefing video and set up with helmet and lifejacket then your free to get on the cables. Start with 1 lap on a kneel board to show competence then free to use on of their wakeboards. Cable operator was really friendly and willing to offer useful advice on how to improve. Vibes of the place were great with all staff and other visitors being super chill and friendly. Price of the session was also very reasonable at $60 for a 2hr session.
Andy R — Google review
We had my grandson's birthday party there. Such a lot of fun for the kids with all the inflatable play equipment. My only complaint would be that there were a lot of kids parties and way too many children for the amount of supervisors. As much as we tried to watch our kids constantly it's not possible without help to be across the whole area they cover. A beautiful day all in all
Anne W — Google review
Had an amazing time here on my birthday and was happy with the amount of time we got for how much it cost! I would have appreciated a little more help around starting as it was my first time and I had no idea what I was getting into. Fortunately I love board sports so got the hang of it after a 3rd attempt but the people I went with struggle the whole 2hr so more teaching would have been nice! Otherwise, I had a great time and would highly recommend it ✌️
Semisi F — Google review
The price is rather cheap, especially if you manage to catch a deal via bookme.com.au outside peak hours. They have many interesting obstacles. The park is well maintained. The staff was very helpful. The rental stuff was in decent shape and it matched my size rather well.

Fishing enthusiasts can head to the designated jetty at the southern end of Cairns Esplanade for a day of fishing and barbecuing facilities.
Had a wonderful week in Cairns staying at the Marlin Marina. Booking was easy, the staff were super-friendly and helpful and the marina location is fantastic - easy walk into town and nearby outdoor recreation areas (including a great swimming pool and bbq areas). I was able to have parcels delivered to the marina office for collection when I arrived and there are loads of bars, restaurants and boating tours just off the pontoons. Not the cheapest marina - but well worth it.

We went to Dundee's restaurant while we were at Cairns Marlin Marina. There are so many different sort of food place, from a quick snack, brewery to 5 star .The kids can have fun in the figtree playground or look for crabs at low tide. The tour boats also leave from there to go to the reef. It is a easy walk for disabled people and many places to sit to take in the scenery. There are many interesting things to read aswell along the walk way.

Beautiful bay, the marina itself could do with better signage as it is a long walkway to get to boats. The marina terminal staff are not well informed when it comes to ferry transfers that they do not work for. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Hot Air Balloon Experience! What an incredible experience! From start to finish, everything was so well-organized and enjoyable. I don’t know why I have never been here before. Such a nice creek & walk, so many hidden & private spots to swim. The walk to the falls was very nice & relatively easy. The falls were nice also. This place would get very busy during warmer months. Come early as there are not many carparks

Good solid walk through the rainforest with a nice view at the Rock. We actually got a glimpse of a cassowary which was nice… we heard some crunching in the distance and spotted it shuffling behind some bushes. There are some reasonably steep inclines but good solid path.

One of my favourite places to go to swim all the time. Also super safe even when it’s been raining heaps and great place to start the Douglas Track from. Lots of spots to swim so you don’t have to hang with others if you don’t want to. Waterfall at the top!

Fairy Falls is a hidden gem near Crystal Cascades in Cairns, Australia. It's a picturesque waterfall with crystal-clear water, located in lush woods. To reach it, take the dirt track from the top of the carpark instead of the main entrance towards Crystal Cascades. The falls are often considered a local secret and offer a beautiful spot for swimming and cooling down.
Beautiful place. How can you not give nature 5 stars?! Easy walk and didn't take 30 minutes as suggested despite stopping along the way. Refreshing swim. Would be careful when having young kids due to the current.
Yvonne — Google review
Beautiful falls. It was not very difficult to get Fairy falls unless going the wrong way. You should use your ear to catch water sounds & it's only 300m without steep climbing. When you meet a fork, take the riverside. If you are on a steep path, it means wrong way. It was good short exercise even if I went the wrong way. Less than 600m to the upper falls with a steep & slippery path. The upper one wasn't as good as the lower one, but beautiful also. The wrong way continues to somewhere, but I couldn't follow it after about 700m and turned around. Good parking & toilets.
Wataru T — Google review
It was really quite difficult to get to the top of the fairy Falls but once you are there, oh my God, it’s amazing. It is worth a hard work to get there.

Somewhat hidden, but beautiful. No maintained path, you have to climb over some stones to get there.
Christoph S — Google review
If you want made to the top, get good shoes and lot of passion. Not worthed for us, especially up there, very steep and risk of falling down, not stable trail.
Marco — Google review
Nice secluded waterfall! Access is via Crystal Cascades car park. Follow the small trail with the warning signs. 10min walk, climbing over boulders required!
Grant J — Google review
Absolutely amazing, only 2 people when partner and I went, Walk is a bit rocky
Jayde O — Google review
It is not a famous waterfall and not many people go this way. There is a notice that there are stinging trees, so be careful. I started my walk late at dusk. You need to go thorough bushes and walk / climb through tree roots. After a while you will have a steep incline to the rocky mountain. I read another website which says not to take the ride up hill but walk in the creek. But it was too dark and there were fallen trees on the creek so I gave the walk up and returned. Hope this will help someone else to reach the waterfall. My advise is to start early with good shoes but be prepared to take them off or walk in water with them if needs to. It might not be safe for young children as well.

Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises offers an unforgettable experience to explore the Great Barrier Reef. Located just 27km offshore from Cairns, Green Island is a stunning coral cay within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park World Heritage Area. Visitors can enjoy pristine white-sand beaches, lush rainforest, and crystal blue waters. The cruises provide opportunities for snorkeling, fish feeding from a glass-bottomed boat, and even offer options for families with young children.
Most amazing time with big cat green Island cruise & team. The team are outstanding, happy to help & go out of their way to make you feel included. The cruise is a full day we had a family of 6 & a infant, everyone was full from the buffet lunch & everything was beautifully timed. I would recommend bringing something for shade & something to snack on if you don't have a good breakfast before hand.

I loved every second of it. The Great Barrier Reef has been on my bucket list for a long time, and I finally got the chance to come to Cairns to see it. I was told scuba diving on the outer reef was the best to do, but most tours required a scuba licence or gave a lot of training time and little scuba time. This tour offered the outer reef with a marine biologist whilst still snorkelling as an additional option. We were blessed with good weather and calm waters on this day. It was awesome. As a beginner snorkeller, this tour was perfect. I gained confidence in the morning snorkelling in shallow waters and seeing beautiful fish and some colour. Then, I went out to the outer reef with the biologist in the afternoon, and I was blown away with what I saw and learned. It was stunning and a real experience of the reef. In my opinion, the time was just enough as a new reef explorer. 1 hour is quite a while snorkelling in deep water if you're not used to it. I would love to do it again, though! Also, by hanging on the pier after the last session, I saw 4 turtles, 3 black tipped sharks, and jumping fish! That was a reel bonus. I don't know if that's common, but the opportunity to catch something swimming by in crystal clear water is there as well. The buffet was awesome to boot. I highly recommend the tour. There are hidden markets and a beautiful walk on the island too that are part of the resort, I think. And Green Island itself? It is an absolute gem. A natural beauty that I'm so glad to have visited and explored.

I recently did a day tour to Green Island with Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The staff were friendly, professional and full of helpful information about the reef and the local wildlife. I particularly enjoyed Anzac's marine biology talks on the way to Green Island and back. The boat was comfortable and well-maintained, making the trip smooth and enjoyable. When we got to the island, the staff assisted us onto the glass bottom boat and submarine, both with unforgettable views of the fish, turtles and reef. Once on Green Island, the scenery was breathtaking. The tropical rainforest is breathtaking. There was plenty to do. Overall, this tour exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cairns who wants a memorable day exploring the Green Barrier Reef and Green Island!

We took the half day tour and it was perfect for my family. We picked from a mix of glass bottom tour, semi sub, and snorkeling. For beginners, a half day gives you enough time to snorkel at both beaches on Green Island + the semi sub. Alternatively, you can do the glass bottom boat + semi sub if you’d rather not swim. We saw turtles, sting rays, and hundreds of fish on the semi-sub; saw fewer fish with snorkeling. Thanks for a great day!

My wife and I had a great time with the crew visiting Green Island. Highly recommend the full day tour with snorkeling of the reefs, the glass boat and adventuring around the island. Crew on board were friendly and knowledge and helped us feel safe.

We booked the full day Green Island Tour and had a fantastic time snorkelling. No shortage of turtles and we were even lucky enough to see whales. The professional young team on the boat went out of their way to make the experience enjoyable for everyone. Although the vessel is on the older side, the amenities, including toilets, were spotless. The bar also has reasonably priced drinks, such as Corona beer, for $9 per bottle. Drinking water is free which is an added bonus.

The crew were awesome. We did go on a day when it was quite windy but if you sit down and enjoy the ride it’s nice. We were given our snorkelling gear when we got on the boat so we had to hang on to them the whole time. Next time we will get our gear when we get to the island. The buffet lunch was a good feed just b4 our snorkelling adventure.

We had the best experience with Green Cat Green Island Reef Cruises. It was our first time trying snorkelling, we booked our experience with a Marine Biologist, and it is so far the best experience I've ever had. A big shout out to Jordan, she was so amazing and made us so comfortable, showed us around and explained so well. The lunch was amazing, good options for vegetarians and kids. Overall, I'll highly recommend them for a trip to Green Island.

Waterfalls
Barron Falls is a stunning 250-meter waterfall located in Barron Gorge National Park, North Queensland. Visitors can take a scenic trail to reach lookout points offering breathtaking views of the cascading waters from the Barron River. The area is part of the oldest tropical rainforest in the world, providing an enchanting experience for nature enthusiasts.
Barron Falls – Absolutely Majestic! Arriving at the Barron Falls lookout after the scenic train journey was a truly awe-inspiring experience. The anticipation built during the winding ascent through the rainforest, and then, suddenly, you're presented with this powerful and breathtaking natural wonder. Even from the viewing platforms, the sheer scale and force of the water cascading down the Barron Gorge is immense. The mist rising from the base creates a dramatic atmosphere, and the roar of the falls is something you can feel as much as hear. It’s a fantastic reward after the scenic railway trip. The different viewing areas offer varied perspectives, allowing you to appreciate the falls from multiple angles. The signage provides helpful information about the geology and ecology of the area, adding another layer of appreciation to the experience. The brief stop here as part of the Kuranda Scenic Railway journey is perfectly timed to allow for some fantastic photo opportunities and a chance to truly soak in the natural beauty. It’s a stark reminder of the raw power of nature and a definite highlight of the entire Kuranda experience. Whether you visit during the wet season when the falls are at their peak flow or during a drier period when you can see more of the rock formations, Barron Falls is a must-see. The accessibility provided by the Kuranda Scenic Railway makes it an easy and unforgettable addition to any Cairns itinerary. Don't forget your camera – you'll want to capture this incredible sight!

Walked around Mossman Gorge. The rainforest circuit track took about an hour. It is not wheelchair or pram friendly or for people that cannot walk up hill over rocks and on uneven surfaces. However, there is a shorter walk with a path and suspension bridge that is easier for all.
ROCHELLE D — Google review
A nice little walk through the bush with little peeks of the falls motivating you to keep moving. Absolutely breathtaking views, and nice and cool even as we're heading towards summer.
Joshua H — Google review
Visit Karanda via Skyway or historic train and return vice versa to get the best views! 100% recommend the day trip.
Susan D — Google review
Absolutely stunning place. Would recommend for anyone and everyone to visit in their lifetime. It’s a great walk but is also accessible to everyone regardless of physical ability.
Leo — Google review
Two views, one unforgettable waterfall! We saw Barron Falls twice — first from the Kuranda Scenic Railway, then later from the Skyrail Cableway — and both were absolutely stunning in their own way. From the train, you get a dramatic, close-up view of the falls thundering through the gorge. On the way down with the Skyrail, the panorama opens up, and you see the full scale of the landscape from above. Two totally different experiences — both breathtaking! Don’t miss the boardwalk lookout stops. This waterfall is a true highlight.
Marie C — Google review
The waterfall is beautiful. The walk to the viewpoint is easy and takes about 10 to 15 minutes. If you have a drone, you can take great pictures, as drones weighing less than 250 grams are permitted in that area.
Pasindu R — Google review
Breathtaking, well worth a visit even on a cloudy day in June when the waterfall is not as full as at other times of the year. Great tracks to walk down and take photos.

For those seeking an exhilarating ride, the Minjin Jungle Swing provides an opportunity to soar through the rainforest at high speeds.
We had our wedding at Skypark, and it was absolutely beautiful! As you can see from the pictures, the venue exceeded our expectations and turned into the perfect spot for our special day. Initially, we didn’t expect it to become such an amazing setting for a wedding, but it truly was. The staff were incredibly supportive and kind throughout the entire process. They helped us so much, and we are beyond grateful for all the assistance and care they provided. The venue was stunning, and the service was exceptional. Thank you to the entire team for making our day unforgettable!

Fun thing to try. Prices are pretty good. Staff are friendly and helpful. A lot of stairs to the top, gets the heart pumping. Probably wouldn't do it again. Nobody mentioned the free Tshirt, luckily one staff member told us about it on the way out.

I booked the Big Swing for my mother and I on her birthday this week. The big swing was absolutely amazing! We ended up booking a tandem bungee but I was a bit nervous and my mum ended up doing a solo jump. Very entertaining watching everyone jump & swing. The staff are very friendly. I was very happy with the footage of our big swing. I received a voucher for my bungee jump. We will be back sometime soon so I can complete my first bungee. Thankyou for the great day! My mother very much enjoyed her birthday.

Another awesome experience at Skypark. This places was the reason we came back to Cairns. Great facilities, a bar and a hot food available. Staff were super friendly, they're inclusive and accommodating to everyone of all ages and abilities. My son had a great time bungy jumping for his birthday. We bought tickets in advance for simplicity's sake, but you can purchase them there too.

Ocean Spirit Cruises offers catamaran rides to Michaelmas Cay, where visitors can enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving in the shallow waters and reefs. The company operates three large motorized sailing catamarans that sail daily to Michaelmas Cay, Upolo Cay, and Oyster Reef. Additionally, one of the boats hosts evening dinner cruises.
I would highly recommend this day trip to Michaelmas Cay. The coral was spectacular and there were so many fish and turtles. Kid friendly, my 7 year old had a great time. Massive thanks to the guy in the little boat that found a turtle for us while we were snorkelling which we were able to swim over to. Big bonus was the amount of people, with number restrictions it meant you weren’t on a boat with 200 people. Also being able to relax on the Cay and see thousands of migrating birds was pretty cool too. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and there was heaps of it. If you can afford the extra $100, hire the GoPro so you can capture all the moments in the water

Loved exploring the Great Barrier Reef with Ocean Spirit. They catered to everyone’s swimming / snorkelling abilities & felt super safe snorkelling around the reef as they had crew in little boats watching the snorkeling area to ensure everyone was safe. The catering was delicious on the boat as well. Would highly recommend booking with Ocean Spirit if you are wanting to explore the outer areas of the reef.

Magical day out on the catamaran at Michaelmas Cay. It was the highlight of our week in Cairns. Not as crowded as some of the other trips and lovely to have the option to get off the boat on the cay. Definitely recommend slathering on the sunscreen as there is no shelter on the island but the snorkelling was the best I have done with loads of coral and variety of fish. We swam with a turtle too! The food was abundant tasty and fresh and the staff were all friendly and knowledgeable.

Absolutely epic day on the Great Barrier Reef aboard Ocean Spirit!! Beautiful boat, very spacious and stunning reef. Loved being able to go onto the Cay and check out all the birds too. Matt, Nico and Scotty put in the extra and made our day on the way home ;)

This was the best reef cruise I have been on. My daughter and I loved the marine talks given by the marine biologists on both the way out and in. The cay itself was beautiful. The water was crystal clear and the snorkeling was amazing. There was plenty of food all day. Awesome day out.
Karlie O — Google review
We had only one day in Cairns to get to see the reef and lucked out with our choice. Weather was a little poor which inadvertently worked for us as it made for a smaller group on our boat. The breakfast and lunch served on board was excellent, and the crew friendly. Gorgeous vessel with plenty of seating indoor and out and sparkly clean restrooms. The marine biologist was an amazing addition to the day, I was amazed at how quickly she was able to identify the things I would show her in pictures from the reef. Additionally, the semi sub is a must do addition to this tour. My wife, who isn't a swimmer and does not snorkel, got to see the reef up close and personal thanks to this awesome addition. The cay itself is beautiful with plenty of great snorkeling and bird watching to do. All in all I would recommend this tour.

Myself and my partner went on a trip to Michalmas Cay yesterday - the boat and crew were terrific. Even the captain was so friendly towards everyone. The bar staff, the sea boat, the crew on the cay and even docking - all smiles and chatty. Food was absolutely delicious, such good quality and afternoon tea was divine. Served with complimentary Prosecco. A terrific day out for any group!

Nestled in the scenic Yorkeys Knob, just a short drive from Cairns' bustling CBD, Blazing Saddles Adventures offers an exhilarating escape into nature. This unique attraction is set on a working cane sugar farm and features both ATV (quad biking) and horse riding experiences. Perfect for adventurers of all skill levels, no prior experience is needed as comprehensive training is provided on-site. Visitors rave about their time at Blazing Saddles; many have returned for repeat adventures!
Did the ATV (quad bike) and Horse ride package. Man I'm going to sleep well tonight! Picturesque country with plenty of native birds, butterflies and you beaut Brumbies. Nestled in amoungst cane fields 15 minutes from Cairns it feels miles from anywhere and even comes with a billabong complete with salt water crocodile. I rode a horse called Peter who loyally followed the leader Lolly and was very patient with me. The ATV was dusty and muddy so ladies, forget about looking pretty, you're going to get grubby! Muck in a enjoy the ride! Michael took us through lots of mud, cane fields and rough terrain. It was my first time and I'm not embarrassed to admit I'm a bit sore now. It's a pretty full on day and I'd recommend long pants and long sleeves for going through the cane as well as being out in the sun. (sunscreen was provided). I'd also recommend a cap and sun glasses. All loose items such as mobile phones, car keys etc are left in a secure lock box at reception. Totally recommend leaving everything behind as one lady did lose an item on the horse ride. Most days a photographer tags along so you can immerse yourself in the experience and get the most out of it. Michael took pics today as well as guided the tours. It's a really full day and I'd totally recommend it for families as well as corporate functions. The staff are great, the horses are gorgeous and the disconnect from mobile phones etc and just being outside is fantastic.

Highly recommend! So much fun! Great views, lovely staff, and awesome activities. The ponies are smart and docile. Riding an ATV is super! Both activities are safe and interesting. It was raining a little bit when we were riding the horse, but that made the views even better. The grass, bush, and lake are so beautiful. And when we were riding the ATV, it was muddy but that's where the fun is. Don't miss it!

Loads of fun. Got on the first morning run before it got to hot. Great mix of fields to go through with dusty parts to slide out and muddy bits to flick mud around. Bring a change of clothes for when you're done and some sunnies or goggles for the ride. Helmet provided along with sunscreen and bug repellent. Some gumboots and old sunnies available if you get in early.

I highly recommend this place. When you think you have nothing to do in Cairns while it’s raining 🌧 this is a must for horse riding. They pick you up and take you out to the range and the horses are all ready for your ride. Doing this in the rain was such a unique experience and our tour guide was so lovely. At the end you can buy photos taken of you during the ride. Must do!

Highly recommend Blazing Saddles for everybody to try! My brothers and I did the quad biking experience, and we enjoyed it so much, we went back a second time 2 days later! The staff are brilliant to deal with, the experience is amazing, and the staff are quite accommodating to your needs. If you want to go slow, they're very patient, will help you out and keep you guided. If you want to go faster, they'll be there to give you a brilliant experience, all the while keeping you safe. Thank you very much guys!!

Surrounded on two sides by majestic fig trees (elastica and benjamina) and fronted by swaying palm trees and a small green lawn for a picnic or reading, this is a lovely library for the city. Inside the historic city council building is delightfully quiet with many tables and seating areas, free restrooms, some free handouts on city walks, a display case from international sister cities, and a pretty stained glass window. One of the best libraries I have been so far. I was backpacking and chose to work from here. The facilities are really helpful to all the people here. Staffs in general are very warm and helpful. They pay attention to detail very much and even if you are doing a meeting offer you with earplugs.(I appreciate this proactiveness) Very clean space, huge, free wifi, meeting rooms, desks with electric plugs, space for kids to play, Water refill station, clean toilets, also lively. Love the music that is played at the last 30 mins ( very soothing) Best place to read books/spend time/working when in Cairns City. They are located very close to lagoon. Easily accessible.

Great little library - perfect for a place to sit and use your laptop for a bit. Really nice old building with a big tree outside with a colony of bats (which can be a bit noisy and smelly but interesting!). Went on a holiday to Cairns but was in a backpackers hostel so this is a much better place to check emails and do some writing and internet surfing compared to the hostel room.

A fantastic resource sadly being misused. During the three visits I made to this library, I heard people swearing, using the phones on loud speaker and several people who looked possibly homeless who were after a cool place to sleep with some also needing a bath and possibly cough medicine. A real shame as I know people need help but not in a library! Lovely old building and friendly staff..

Sugarworld Adventure Park in Cairns is a family-friendly amusement park with a variety of attractions for all ages. The park features body, mat, and raft slides, as well as an interactive aquatic playground for kids. In addition to swimming pools and a 9-hole mini-golf course, the park offers endless hours of fun. While it may not be as large as some other waterparks, it still provides great entertainment for kids aged 6 and older.
This is really a nice family park where the whole family can enjoy an outing, BBQ, a playground for the kids and a water world to enjoy. There are plenty of fruit trees of which you can eat the fruit and the nuts on the nut trees. The beautiful peacocks run wild around there.
Peter T — Google review
If you’ve got kids and you’re looking for the ultimate summers day out then Sugarworld is the place to be! It’s not exactly cheap, but honestly, for a full day of water filled fun, it’s great value. Heads up parents just spectating, you need to pay to enter as well so you may as well jump in and enjoy yourself with the kids! Between the splash park, smaller pools, and the 3 epic super slides, everyone is guaranteed a day of laughter and excitement. For families with older kids over 10, just keep in mind the smaller splash area and little pools are off limits for them, which leaves mainly the super slides and mini golf to keep them busy. The super slides are definitely a hit though (if you can survive the constant trek up there!) There are heaps of shaded areas and picnic tables, which makes it super family friendly, and I love that there are lockers available if you’re planning to jump in the water yourself (can’t comment on prices as I haven’t used them myself). The bathrooms were also impressively clean for such a big and busy park so big tick there! Mini golf adds a bit of extra fun although we found it a bit tricky for the littlies with some steep slopes and sneaky creeks ready to constantly swallow those golf balls. Still, most kids seem more than happy to spend their time on the slides anyway! Now, a few things that DESPERATELY need some love and attention to take this park from good to amazing… 1) The cafe wait times and staff attitude… Every single visit, it’s been 30+ minutes just to order, and then more waiting for the food. The line moves slower than a turtle in thongs, and the staff always seem… less than thrilled to be there. A little more efficiency (and a few more smiles) would make a world of difference… not to mention it would likely boost your sales too! 2) The pathway up to the red super slide… Ouch! The exposed aggregate surface is brutally sharp and rough on bare feet. Please, please, please consider resurfacing or matting it next off season. 3) Super slide safety… This was a HUGE one for me and I deducted a whole star for this one. When the traffic light system isn’t working at the top of the red slide, then there absolutely needs to be a lifeguard up there to manage turns. Without it, it quickly turns into chaos, and that’s not safe for anyone. Parents shouldn’t have to police the line with other people’s kids. Honestly it got so dangerous I took my little man off of that one. Despite these hiccups, Sugarworld is still a fantastic day out and a solid summer favourite in our household. We’ll absolutely keep coming back, I’m just hoping a few tweaks can make it the five star experience it’s so close to being!

I loved the mini golf, it was the best I've ever played in. One slide was closed when we went Food was ok They need to put a bit more Work into some walking paths It was a good day out They did follow rules

Rude staff. Pay too much for what they provide, when Townsville Water Park is free. Charging Adults that don't swim. Ridiculous. Highly do not recommend.
Celia G — Google review
It states children under 10 must be supervised at all times but parents cant go down the slides with them on splash mountain. So means younger children cant go down splash mountain slides as they are suppose to be attended. Well they arent supervised if they are going down slides by themselves. Hmm.

Amazing place to spend a day or half day. Waterslides are fun specially with kids between 6 years and older. Almost all slides are safe and you do not need to worry about. Please don't expect too much as it is not a waterpark like Gold Coast. Very economical as you just need to spend 61$ for a family of four including big slides. Also greenery and park is very good. My kids loved it and me and my wife too.

Lovely day out with the family My sons 14th birthday with mates in the school holidays. We packed our own food for a picnic but there is a kiosk there for hot food and drinks... A multi area water park which caters for the young and ' not so young A great day's fun for all!!!

We love Sugarworld - the slides are fun and the lines are never too long. Mini golf is a good laugh and there are lots of shady spots to relax too. It’s great that you can bring your own food to have a picnic - the kiosk is great for hot food and ice creams. The big public park outside is worth a visit too.

A stunningly beautiful and modern theatre! Always enjoy performing there with the Music Of The Night show. The Cairns Regional Council should be very proud of this spectacular performance space.

We went to see ELO , they were ok , bar service was efficient not too long waits, you can pre order prior to arrival if needed . Great atmosphere, seating & view comfortable

Not bad of a place to watch performances at. My only issue is being charged $50+ to watch the schools eistedford. Understand the centre needs to make money and that price is reasonable for performances like singers and the likes but $50 odd for two adults to watch their kids perform for eistedford was a bit steep

Went yesterday. Had a great time with skipper Andrew and deck hand Taco. The vibes were great and Andrew helped us find a bunch of fish. They were very inviting and helped me and others reel in some nice fish. They gave everyone a go and made sure no one went home without a catch ! Definitely recommend. Coming back 100%

Can not recommend enough! Definitely the best day you'll have in Cairns, just be sure to pick the weather! Fantastic experience from start to finish. Lisa, the booking agent, is absolutely wonderful to deal with and makes everything so easy. The meeting point at the Pier Cafe is perfect to grab a relaxed breakfast, and if you're like me - an extra snack for the ride out! The crew are very skilled and look after you well, ensuring your line is always ready to go and your fish are processed, marked, and stored on ice. Everyone was catching so many fish, they were so busy! They also serve a beautiful fresh lunch halfway through the day, then prawns and fruit for afternoon tea. Excellent vibes all day, music playing, beers on ice, and so many laughs with the crew. Massive thank you to the Skipper Andrew and the Deckhand Connor for a fantastic day.

Went out on Blue Waler on 07 June with my mate Graeme. What a great day we both had. Some really great fish brought on board. The skipper Logan and his crew DV where extremely helpful and attentive. I'd definitely recommend these guys to anyone regardless of there level of experience

My son and I had an amazing day out with Cairns Reef Fishing. Great service (always helping if we got snagged or re-rigging when the sharks figured out where we were), great food, and most importantly, great fishing. I would highly recommend a day out with these guys if you’re around the Cairns area and want to get on the fish. We then cooked our fish (that they gilled and gutted for us) on the BBQ in the hotel. A delicious finish to a great day.
Andrew S — Google review
I can not recommend going out with these guys enough. They're professional, fun, and know their stuff. Nothing but heaps of fun and a family kind of feel with our crew (sorry mate I can't remember your name so no slab for you 😂) their food was so delicious and fresh. If you want to do a reef charted in Cairns, book with these guys

Chris was nothing short of a fabulous tour guide!! He was very knowledgeable of every area we went to. The timing between each step was perfect. You had a chance to taste the various cultural foods and drinks, shop at different shops, so beautiful scenery. He played super fun music on the way home after our ice cream stop. You can’t help but sing along. If you’re on the fence about going on this outing, I would highly recommend crossing over. It’s well worth it!

Absolutely stunning day out. So much variety of foods and drinks. Very different experience for us. We would never have found these out of the way places on our own. A tour is only as good as the fellow guests and the tour guide. Bridget was the best ever. Seriously, what a personality and its not easy to talk for almost 10hrs and retain the interest of all on boars who played their part and interacted so well. We saw a lot and learned a lot. Palm Cove Watersports offers a variety of water activities such as jet skis, paddle skis, kayaks, and beach games like soccer and volleyball. One of the highlights is the 30-minute first light paddle where you can glide over fringing reefs and enjoy fresh fruit and juice on Double Island. The website is user-friendly, with prompt responses to email queries. Visitors highly recommend the canoeing trip to Double Island for its abundant wildlife.
Sunrise kayak tour was the best. Small group. Two hour tour. Out to double island and had a look around, which was awesome. Brad has lots of information about the wildlife and sea life which he explained about on the way. It’s the best tour I’ve ever done. Watching the sun rise and it being so quite out on the water that time of day. So strongly recommend any of his tours and will definitely be back when in Palm Cove again.

The kayaks are great and it’s a very enjoyable experience out on the water at first light . Thanks Brad

Did the kayak turtle and ray tour and saw everything we expected to see! Really interesting and sad to go onto Double island and see the wreckage of a once beautiful resort. Circled the island and had undisturbed views for miles. Triple, double and single kayaks available
Helen B — Google review
Apart from an aging Kayak that constantly veered to the right this was a spectacular experience for sunrise. Calm seas and clear skies made for an exceptional visual experience.
Jamie S — Google review
My partner and I had the best experience with Brad on the Sunrise Kayak Tour with Palm Cove Watersports. Brad was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the islands, the sea life, coral, birds, and even the ships out at sea — pretty much everything! The sunrise was absolutely stunning, and Brad made sure to stop at the perfect moments for photos. The pace of the tour was really comfortable, with plenty of stops — relaxing rather than strenuous. We were lucky enough to see turtles and dolphins around Double Island, and Brad even took us for a short walk on the island spit where we scanned the water and spotted more turtles swimming as we looked back towards Palm Cove. We’ll definitely be back next year for another tour — lots of laughs, great company, and a truly memorable experience. Thanks so much, Brad! 🌅🛶🐢

The most fantastic day out! We enjoyed the Daintree, Mossman Gorge, & Cape Tribulation Day Trip with Jim and could not have asked for a better day. Jim was the most lovely, funny and informative tour guide I have ever met. Swimming at the gorge and finishing off with ice cream was my highlight. The lunch was beyond expectations and the most beautiful tropical fruits we have ever had - added bonus learning about what we were eating from the lovely owners. The only fault was the crocodile express boat tour, we didn’t see any crocs and the croc tour guide was inexperienced. Jim went above and beyond to show us extra hidden treasures and finding cassowaries. Will be recommending Discovery tours to all my friends and family and hope to book again our next holiday!

What a great day with lots of amazing experiences - Mossman Gorge, lunch at the Daintree, Daintree River croc spotting, World Heritage listed Daintree rain forest and Cape Tribulation. It was a long day, but our guide Ester was AAA amazing making an almost 12 hour day so much fun. Highly recommended
Craig B — Google review
On our recent trip to Cairns, we chose to do a trip with Discovery Tours Australia to Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, we were not disappointed and so glad we took this trip. The drive to the rainforest was great with our driver and guide Laurence doing a great job in showing us points of interest and sharing some valuable knowledge about the local area and history in sugar cane production. Laurence has a real passion for his job and goes the extra mile in making his passengers' experience memorable. After a quick stop in Port Douglas, we stopped at Mossman Gorge to explore the natural beauty it provided. We were given some time to swim in the crystal clear waters, which is an experience I will never forget. Throughout this, Laurence was giving us information about Mossman and lots of interesting facts as well as having a laugh with us all. Next, we were off on a Daintree river cruise where we were lucky to spot lots of flying foxes roosting in the trees and a couple of crocodiles along the river banks. Again, this part of the trip was informative and gave us lots of unknown information on the area. Lastly, we went to Cape Tribulation, which is the only place on earth where two Natural Wonders meet. The Rainforest literally meets the Great Barrier Reef, and it is as stunning as it sounds. We spent a fair bit of time taking photographs and walking the shoreline. On the way back Laurence continued to answer all the questions we had and chat to us all about the day, even with a small mishap with a tree falling over on the road everyone was in good spirits and it was dealt with very swiftly and we were on our way again without too much delay. This trip was an unforgettable part of our Cairns experience and one which we can not recommend enough. Laurence made the day very enjoyable. He is an asset to Discovery Tours Australia.

We had such a lovely tour of the Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge with our tour driver Mario! We learned so much, about the area, the national parks and all the wildlife we passed. I could listen to a podcast from Mario his voice was so relaxing and engaging!! The tour was packed full of sights and accommodating stops, we loved it but still didn't feel rushed. The size of the tour group was perfect and the bus was clean and comfortable. We passed a few other tour groups and knew we made the right choice with Discovery!! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting for the first time and even those who live in the area but want to learn a bit more. Thank you Mario and all the lovely team at Discovery Tours!

We did the day tour with Matt. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this stunning area. The pacing of the tour was good with enough time look around. The crocodile cruise was a highlight, we saw many crocs. I recommend taking a quick dip in the creek! Oh, and don't skip the ice cream!

Booked a day trip to the Daintree from Cairns. What a great trip. The female tour guide and bus driver made it such a fun trip. She was very professional and fun, and the sights we saw included Port Douglas, Mossman Gorge, and of course the Daintree and crocs. It's a fun filled, packed day!!

7am-7pm full day tour, crammed full of activities and sightseeing! Our guide Mario was knowledgeable, very approachable and friendly. He knew heaps about the areas fauna and flora. He picked us up from our accommodation in Cairns in a 14 seater comfortable bus. Delicious and interesting lunch was provided, we were lucky to see a crocodile this time of year on the river cruise part of the day. Was so nice to sit back and relax while watching the scenery and learning about the area while someone else drove. Just bring an umbrella/poncho as it was raining and we weren’t prepared. But definitely worth the money!

Booked the day trip tour to Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation, and Port Douglas from Cairns. Laurence was an top notch tour guide from pick-up to drop-off,l; our group learned a lot about the region, had some laughs and, as a solo traveler, I had some experiences I will never forget. I would recommend this to any friend and would book another tour with DTA without hesitation. Money well spent.

A great river that runs just North of the city of cairns. There are some great fishing spots along the river at caravonica and Stratford as well as fishing at the mouth at Machans beach. No swimming though as the river is inhabited by salt water crocodiles.

Had a lovely day out snorkeling. The boat ride was fabulous. Saw loads of fish. Went on the morning trip just as well as when it was time to leave the tide was really low. So where we were swimming a few hours before you could only walk.

I had the best time of my life. Guys you should go once in your life in great barrier reef. You can do so many things and staff are very lovely aswell❤️
Sabita S — Google review
We had a fabulous half-day trip to Green Island. We made our booking directly at the terminal/booking office about 30 minutes before the 1pm ferry was about to depart. The booking process was easy, and details were well explained. The ferry ride over was smooth. We were booked on the 2:15pm glass bottom boat; the lady who led the tour was knowledgeable and informative. She explained the fauna well and her style was engaging. The half day tour provides enough time for a leisurely stroll around the island which takes about 30 minutes (more if you stop to look at things). Instructions throughout the tour were clear, especially reminders about returning to the ferry by 4pm in order to catch the 4:15 ferry back to Cairns. All in all, it was a well run operation, things were on time and progressed smoothly, and staff were welcoming and helpful. Our party consisted of three adults, including one person in their late 80s. The tour was comfortable for a person who doesn't walk more than 5-10mins. There is the need for some climbing of stairs. Recommended that you bring your own food to Green Island; catering options are limited to fast food or restaurant food. I'd definitely recommend Green Island Tours.
Amanda S — Google review
Having done the outer reef and green island tours I was really hoping this tour (based on reviews) was worth it. Positives: My kids (17 and 12) and I loved it. Staff were amazing, snorkelling was better than the other two tours and we saw several turtles. the lunch was great And drinks for purchase cheap. I would go again. Beautiful island, LOVED IT!!!! Negatives: The only improvement would be the transport, we were on the bus for an hour before we even left cairns for the boat which was then another hour away, we also were on the bus for 2.5 hours after the long day coming back which was a bit of a nightmare. I would recommend having a few drop off spots rather than going to every hotel. I think everyone on the bus (including the driver) would agree. A very very long day. Otherwise loved it, next time I’ll drive to the boat.
Mike A — Google review
If you want to have a great day out and are in the Cairns area, I highly recommend this. The full day trip to Green Island is awesome! I paid extra for the lunch buffet, and it was good. I also added the seni submersible to the package, and it is worth the extra money. It was my second time going and won't be my last. I rate at 5/5 ⭐️
Michael W — Google review
Unfortunately there was a note when we arrived that the tide was very low for snorkelling. Wasn't a good day for snorkelling which is very disappointing with children. There should be a choice to choose another day when the tide is low. The glass bottom tour was a great experience.

We made the tour to green island and snorkeling at the pontoon. This was fantastic and we had a lot of fun. Excellent organized. But the start of the tour wasn't good. We had a reservation but had to get the blue ticket at the counter where all tried to get a ticket. This can be much better organized. The crew was very friendly and helped wherever they could.
