Hotel
Casa Gangotena is a sophisticated and elegant old-world property located in the historical center. The hotel offers haute dining and a cozy bar, making it the ideal place for an exclusive breakfast experience with French, Italian, and Art Deco-inspired decor. Guests can enjoy a complete buffet breakfast with a variety of options to choose from. The hotel's interior architecture is captivating, featuring murals, Egyptian marble columns, and paintings from the Quito School of Art.
My family and I were in search of a hotel after the original hotel we had booked would not answer the phone or open up to us. It was very late at night when we arrived and no other hotels were open or had available rooms. Our uber driver took us to Casa Gangotena and they were kind enough to open their doors to us and help us in a room. They were very helpful, the room was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. But overall it was their service and hospitality that stood out. Fernando helped us out greatly and we are so thankful to him for all he did.

Beautiful hotel with fantastic staff. Lovely restaurant with a great breakfast. Staff patient enough to allow us to practice our very basic Spanish.

Amazing hotel ,first class all the way! Beautiful building, great amenities and restaurant. Location is great, I was afraid it would be real touristy but the whole neighborhood had a great local flair. Loved it!
Craig D — Google review
We were here for 3 nights and it was excellent! The location is fantastic, right in the center of everything. The staff was amazing, ensuring all our needs were met and a smooth check in and transport process. The breakfast was great along with the food at their restaurants. They had one of the best bars I have ever been to. Their cocktails were creative, delicious and perfectly balanced. The price is high but it is worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and book a stay here if you are in Quito!
Craig L — Google review
Absolutely the best hotel in the Quito. Fantastic location in the heart of the old town, great for sightseeing as all the main attractions are within walking distance. The rooms are amazing. Especially the rooms on the second floor that overlook the whole San Francisco square - you get to watch all the hubbub of the square, the charm of the church, townspeople going about their daily trade, flocks of pigeons and even the volcano in the distance on a clear day. All from the comfort of your hotel room. Breakfast is fantastic too. Definitely get that as part of your room. They offer delicious coffee (served bougie with pralines), ala carte dishes , pastries, fresh fruit and anything you could want for brekkie really.
Lisa C — Google review
We tried only the restaurant and the rooftop. Have to say food is fancy/good but honestly I was expecting more vibrant flavors, based on the fame of the place and its location. Interesting plates and the way they were presented but left something missing flavor wise. RoofTop has an awesome view of the surroundings, in particular San Francisco and the square. During the day the sun can be really harsh and late in the day it can become really windy, so go prepared with the correct outfit for the time you're gonna spend there. It's pricey so ask if you can enjoy only the rooftop experience, if you are into views and landscapes more than in flavors experiences. Metro station is one block away, literally.

Scenic spot
Cafe Mosaico is a must-visit spot located on the Itchimbia hill in Quito, offering an unparalleled view of the city. The interior is adorned with vibrant art and decor, creating a welcoming ambiance complemented by live music. This restaurant boasts a diverse menu featuring Greek, Ecuadorean, and American cuisine to cater to various tastes.
Even if the food was bad the view alone would make this worth a visit. However, the food was amazing and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We had different burgers and I inhaled mine it was so good. Enjoyed a local drink called Canelazo which was also great. Did I mention the view? Amazing and so much fun to see the city light up as the sun went down. Highly recommend this place to anyone.
Teakeyman — Google review
So I came on a rainy night bcuz I heard the hamburgers are so good. And I was not disappointed.... I love the onion rings and potato circles ! They had delicious ketchup too. My burger was cooked perfect medium and juicy. The rain stopped and the view was better ( but the rain was cool too? Also I love the doggies greeting me when I walked in
Boston I — Google review
Not only was the food and presentation delicious, but the view is amazing as well. What sold me though, was their desire to help stray cats & dogs. They help adopt strays via donations and you can bring your dog! The vibes were incredible. Menu available in English for tourists. You can “adopt a friend” for only $10, you get a stuffed pet to color and decorate with a card that tells you about an adoption story. My heart left happy.
Haley J — Google review
Excellent experience, as always. This was my 5th visit to Mosaico and it delivered on all levels. Excellent service from Leo, our waiter, and delicious food and drinks. So glad I decided to to bring my wife here. We loved it!
Ryan D — Google review
Great food with an amazing view of the city. They also let my dog inside with me. The canelazo was perfect.
Odessa W — Google review
This place is amazing for the views if not for everything on the menu. It can be a bit cool at night, right near the railing. But the lights of the city are magical from this viewpoint. The soup was pretty good, but our party really disliked the chicken wings
Brian S — Google review
Great view of the city from the balcony. The food is generally good with the traditional Ecuadorian lamb dish being the most flavourful. The sharing platters are very generous with onion rings, carrots, grilled meat, dipping sauces, etc. The staff are very friendly and service was quick. There was a bar downstairs with live music on Friday night.

Cafe
If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Old Town Quito, make sure to stop by Café San Blas. Nestled conveniently at the intersection of Jose Antepara and Vicente Leon, this cozy eatery is a haven for those seeking healthy and delicious meals without breaking the bank. With a delightful menu featuring fresh artisanal dishes, including mouthwatering pizzas, hearty pastas, and vibrant salads, there's something to satisfy every palate.
The restaurant is family owned by Sylvia and her daughter, the fettuccini was amazing & probably the best tiramisu I have ever had in my life. It came to around $11 which is so reasonable especially given the high quality. I also felt very much at home here, it felt like being at a family house, a local experience
Leah D — Google review
Great pasta, nice salad but only average Pizza. A real Italian Pizza you get across the road at Convergenzia. I would come again for the pasta.

Best food I’ve had in Quito and I’ve been here a month. Good prices. Such fresh bread! Try one of the sandwiches ahhh yummy
Rae B — Google review

Amazing pizza. Such good value. I will be back. Silvia is the best
Florence E — Google review
This place is excellent, the pizza is outstanding and the people are extremely nice. We bought 3 personal pizzas between two of us and they hit the spot perfectly. If I could give them more stars I would. Sorry no photos. Too hungry.
Stiofan H — Google review
What a great place to eat Italian food. It was amazing. The moment you come true the door you already feel the warm atmosphere. It feels like you walk into an Italian restaurant somewhere in a small town. The staff is very friendly and it feels really authentic. The prices are low and the food tastes great. A great place to have dinner.

Rincón de Francia is a delightful gem in Quito that transports diners straight to the heart of Paris with its exquisite French cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on classic dishes, such as the rich Boeuf Bourguignon and velvety lobster bisque, all presented with an artistic flair. Seafood lovers will be enchanted by their grilled fish offerings, while those seeking a taste of South America can indulge in ceviches or Spanish omelets.
Wonderful food and service, but the place was not full and needs maybe some live Music! They have 25% off Thursdays with Produbanco cards, an excellent benefit.
Daniela Q — Google review
A classic restaurant. The place has not changed at all, it has the same decoration It is rare to find a restaurant that exhibits works of art by national authors. The menu has classic dishes: onion soup, bisque, duck terrine, escargots, a good selection of fish and lobster. It's a shame that there is no duck. I had a sea bass with capers, it was slightly salty but rich and the portion was quite large than average for other restaurants. The service was not bad but not wow either. The selection of wines is very good and they have affordable prices as well as the cocktails.
Mireya C — Google review
This is very nice "old fashioned "restaurant with good service. Food was nice. The only thing, not like others, it wasn't including IVA 15% and service charge 10%. They were clearly asking for tip on the top of it at the bottom of the bill. The restaurant is on the expensive side. Otherwise we did enjoyed our dinner with lovely music in background.
Nina M — Google review
Overpriced. Also, in addition to prices in the menu they add IVA 15% and service 10% on top of it. I didn't seen such fraud with IVA anywhere in the world, prices always includes IVA. Include service fee by default is totally disrespectful to your clients.
Kirill F — Google review
Hands down one of my families favorite. Always good quality food and service. I ordered the Mejillones and Filete de Robalo al Meuniere. And shared the crepe Suzette. delicioso!!
Jenn F — Google review
Had a lovely dinner here last week. This is a very old school classic French restaurant, which I prefer over fusion. I had their escargots as appetizer. Buttery with the right amount of parsley. I ordered the frog legs (not on the menu but I requested it) as my entree. They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Finally, I had the strawberries with sweet cream as dessert. Overall, I was satisfied. Food was tasty and my server was friendly and accomodating. I will return.
Ed F — Google review
I stopped by for dinner on a weekday and found I was the only person dining- it was a bit uncomfortable. There were staff sitting around watching videos on their phones with the volume up which was annoying. The wine selection by the glass is poor. The French Onion Soup was nice and I had a chicken dish which was OK.
Hannah G — Google review
When I told the staff that I found a hair in my food, they first told me it was the seasoning. However after showing them the hair a second time, they were accommodating and did not charge me.

Hotel Plaza Grande Quito is a luxurious downtown hotel located on Plaza de la Independencia in the Old Town. The colonial architecture of the building perfectly complements the neighborhood, and guests can enjoy moonlight horse-drawn carriage tours to explore the area. The hotel offers 15 opulent suites decorated in classic Ecuadorian style, featuring dark wood furnishings, heavy drapes, and marble bathrooms with hydromassage tubs.
Excellent hotel in the heart of historic Quito. Customer service was outstanding on every level during our 5 night stay to 10/4/25. Restaurant is very good with a fabulous breakfast menu. Great way to experience all things local while enjoying the modern comforts of a top class historic hotel. Highly recommended.
John N — Google review
I walked in with a group of 11 people and they said come back in an hour we will call you when your table is ready. We came back and they erased our phone number and name. We were confused why another large group went in front of us. Also, the staff was arguing back at us and the service seemed very nasty. Will never be going back or give my money to those people. Customer service was the worst.
Jocelyn A — Google review
I’ve just spent the last 5 nights at Plaza Grande. Is it a unique stay? Yes! Is it value for money at US$340 per night…. I don’t think so. You’re really paying for old world charm rather than luxury. The room was comfortable but lacked some basics like a stocked minibar/fridge as an example. You’re in the centre of the old town which has its perks such as beautiful views and access to lots of tourist locations. There are some considerations out of the hotel’s control that did impact the stay: at 5:50am EVERY morning, the cathedral bells start tolling. There is also a lot of street noise as the President’s office is 10m away and every police escort beeps its horn or sirens as it goes by. The bathtub is also a bit of a death trap so be mindful if you have accessibility requirements. The service here is lovely but I probably wouldn’t stay here again and thankful that I used my credit card points to cover this hotel cost rather than my own cash.
David M — Google review
Fantastic service! No parking right at the hotel, so check with them first—but staff helped us park nearby for just $0.19/hour, very reasonable. Since we had an early flight, Alex and the team kindly packed us a breakfast - sweet fruit, tasty sandwiches, everything perfect. The room was just as nice as expected, plus free wine! Everything went smoothly and we couldn’t be happier.
Di C — Google review
Wonderful and attentive staff. Excellent location in the heart of the historic center, within easy and safe walking distance to top colonial churches and museums. Great restaurants within two block radius.

Chuta Madre is a charming eatery that offers breakfast, lunch, and light dinners. This quaint restaurant features a rooftop area with breathtaking panoramic vistas of the historic Colonial city. The cuisine is delectable, with small yet delightful portions and impeccable presentation. The service is exceptional, making it an ideal spot for enjoying a refreshing beverage. One of the main highlights is their crusty bread, which accompanies all their dishes and can also be purchased separately.

A lovely cafe serving breakfasts, sandwiches, delicious pastries, and varieties of homemade breads. The upstairs patio overlooks all of historic Quito. Service was great, as was my $7.50 breakfast!

I recently returned to the USA and finally found some time to write this review for Chuta Madre. I visited this cozy little spot for the second time while in Quito, and it did not disappoint! I arrived around 9 am, and although it was quite busy, with about a 20-minute wait, I didn't mind at all. The staff were incredibly polite and friendly, which made the wait more than bearable. As for the food, I tried their bread and avocado toast, which were okay, but the real star was the pistachio croissant—wow! The filling was absolutely to die for! Major kudos to the pastry chef for crafting such a delicious and memorable treat. I'll definitely be thinking about it until my next visit. Highly recommend stopping by Chuta Madre if you get the chance!

Sweet little bakery & café with an amazing view over the old town and Panecillo. Fresh bread, juices, coffee and - if you're lucky - sunshine. Friendly service and great music.

Incredible view, super good food and friendly people. The croissants were amazing (even by french standards), as were the breakfast plates. Would recommend this to everyone.

I’m so glad I found Chuta Madre online while I was looking for the best breakfast places in Quito. My two teenagers and I enjoyed a lovely atmosphere with amazing views of the city and a delicious and healthy breakfast. We tasted the lomo sandwich, the champiñones bruschetta and the best of day breakfast. All choices included fresh sourdough. The lemonade sandía was perfect! And a flavorful capuccino made our first visit to Chuta Madre unforgettable. Highly recommend this cute, warm and tasteful space in the Historic center.

This boutique hotel is one of the best stay I had in my life, and I travel frequently! The staff are super friendly and as helpful as you could imagine. Anything they can help you with they will. Great decoration with luxurious and European style in a historic building~ The garden is beautiful and the small restaurant attached is superb! Amazing service for Xmas Eve for us. The room service were so detailed oriented and careful, with a nice touch of fun. Free drinks and dessert at check-in! Great furniture and view of the city. The location is also relatively close to old town and Crystal Palace. Overall amazing stay and highly recommend!!!

Reposting a review from my trip in 2018. This is by far one of my fav hotels of the year, especially for the price. I have probably stayed in 150 nights in a hotel this year alone worldwide. In Quito, there is just a lack of good hotels that are reasonable. There are a few that are int eh $450, and then it drops off like a rock unless you want to stay in the middle of no where. Most people will say stay in Mariscal. Sure, if you're 20 something or a backpacker looking to be out at a dirty bar all night. If you're not that young anymore and want it to be comfortable there are about 2 choices that are still in areas that make sense that would be worth of a 4+ star rating and are not going to cost you $500+ after tax. This one and Hotel Grand Plaza. Occasionally, you can catch a break on these two. I chose this one after having lunch and previewing the room at Hotel Grand Plaza. They are both super nice. But I liked that this was even more of a boutique when it came to the common areas. There is a gorgeous backdoor park that is perfect for reading or relaxing. The Library upstairs is a great place to sit down, have afternoon tea with little cookies and read a book. The lobby is just gorgeous. This is the place you stay if you want to be in a "rich friend's mansion." It feels nothing like a chain and everything is quaint and adorable. Clean goes without saying. But their dog Princesa is the cleanest white dog I have ever petted. Seriously, my hand did not even smell after petting her. She has a fabulous personality. Breakfast is basic, but adequate buffet. There are a nice selection of breads and cereals. They make eggs to order. But I really only cared about the adorable birds they have in a cage that just make the whole experience so wonderful. They are very into chocolate as another individual pointed out. It is a chocolate scent when you enter, chocolate soap, a chocolate on your bed, etc. I love it. If you hate it, maybe then you stay at Hotel Plaza Grande. If I was doing a romantic trip, I wouldn't think twice. This is definitely the spot. SOOOO charming. I was by myself. I still loved it. I have been writing and I could have stayed here all day and just wrote, either in the garden, the dining area, or in the library. Soooo great. Seriously.Show less

We have used the Mansion del Angel for our Galapagos tours since 2005. It's owned and operated by a distinguished gentlemen who trained at Swiss hotelier schools. Small, boutique - plenty of attention to detail.

We can't claim any credit for finding this place because it was chosen for us by a tour company but I echo the compliments of other reviewers. Gorgeous rooms (always including the most beautiful bouquets of roses), good food with generously provisioned breakfasts and, above all, very attentive, friendly and helpful staff.

Cyril Boutique is a renowned spot in Quito, offering exquisite French pastries and chocolates. It's a haven for dessert and chocolate lovers, featuring a variety of signature creations that tantalize the senses. Whether you're craving fine pastries, cookies, or cakes, this boutique bakery in Carolina Park has it all. The freshly baked bread and unique macarons are not to be missed. Additionally, visitors can enjoy excellent coffee on the covered terrace or take their favorite treats home.
Cyril Boutique offers an excellent experience with high-quality bakeries that are truly enjoyable. The service is perfect, attentive, and professional. For Epiphany, we had the chance to try their galette des rois, and it was just like the ones in France—authentic and delicious. Their coffees are also very good, making them a perfect accompaniment to the pastries. Additionally, we tried a small lemon tart, which was delightful and perfectly balanced in flavor. While the prices are a bit high, the quality justifies the cost, making it a delightful treat for special occasions or simply to enjoy fine French pastries in Quito. Highly recommended!
Guerric P — Google review
We go to Cyril often, it’s the best French patisserie-boulangerie in Quito. Everything they do is excellent, from a big variety of bread and viennoiserie, to perfect chocolate truffles, fantastic macarons in many flavour combinations, cakes for special occasions and well-made ice cream. One of my favourite rare treats are the delicious cannelés de Bordeaux, which I was surprised to find there. We find ourselves visiting Cyril at least once a week for a nice treat. I will definitely recommend a visit if you’re looking for good bread or excellent patisserie

Wonderful atmosphere, amazing and hospitable employees. The croissants are the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world! Their chocolate selection left me in awe! A must go for any visitor to Quito!

Yum. I could spend a lot of money here. We came to get dinner (yes, we had breakfast pastries for dinner) but there were so many things I wanted. Beautiful mini cakes and quiche if you want something savory. Delicious sounding macarons and many chocolate figures (animals, instruments, etc).

Good service overall. The waiter accidentally wrote the order wrong but they went above and beyond to fix it and also gave us some complementary alfajores. The almond coffees were very good and the pastries were delicious too.

One of my favorite places in the city and of course a high quality pâtissière. Even French people visit it! The macaroons are awesome and I’ve never felt disappointed by any of the desserts. The Mayan chocolate is a must-try

Small, limited outdoor seating, it was cold and their outdoor heater wasn't working. Decent coffee and pastries

La Casona de la Ronda Hotel is a charming 18th-century house turned into a spectacular hotel with 22 rooms surrounding a beautiful central patio. The original facilities have been updated to offer modern conveniences while maintaining the authentic atmosphere of Quito's colonial center. The hotel's Spanish colonial heritage is reflected in its locally hand-carved furniture and rustic interior courtyard. Guests can also enjoy a cozy top-floor library lounge with views of Panecillo Hill.
We were incredibly impressed with our stay! It was my best friend, myself, and my 5 month old daughter. The staff was absolutely fantastic and willing to help with everything. The breakfast was amazing and the lunch/dinner was some of the best we had I. Quito! The room was spacious and quiet. My only complaint was that the AC had a light that wouldn’t turn off lighting up the entire room, needed to sleep with an eye mask. But overall we loved it!

This is a fabulous historic boutique hotel in an excellent location for walking and exploring old town Quito. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds and linens were comfortable and very nice. The bathroom had nice amenities and a luxurious shower. The hotel restaurant was delicious and had traditional Ecuadorian food as well as some pasta or pizza to satisfy a child or picky eater.

Boutique hotel in the middle of Quito's famous La Ronda street. The service is top notch and the restaurant serves good dishes. Note however that most of the rooms have no outside view windows (the windows face the inner courtyard).

Stone built colonial mansion converted into a hotel. It is different from the identikit hotels of Europe and can accurately be described as a boutique hotel. It is located on a narrow cobbled street in Quito old town, where neighbouring streets are quite lively and very Ecuador! Breakfast are healthy with juices, fresh fruits, eggs, omelettes and pastries. The streets of Quito can be risky if you take a wrong turn so get local advice and stick to a route. Avoid going out wearing a lot of bling and jewellery. Overall though Quito was different and fascinating!

Loved this hotel in the historic district of Quito! It's really beautiful. Every room is different, and all 3 that our group of 6 had was great. Comfortable, pretty, huge bathroom, plenty of storage space, outlets, and good Wi-Fi. And there are 3 common areas that are inviting and relaxing to hang out in. It's very reasonably priced, and the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. And they speak very good English as well. This trip we also stayed at the JW Marriott in Quito. That hotel was also very good, but much more modern and upscale, and it's in a very unappealing part of Quito, though not a far walk to more appealing parts. La Casona de la Ronda is right smack in the middle of the bustling historic district, close to nearly everything, and while having fewer upscale amenities than the Marriott, it has way more charm.

Very nice boutique hotel. Walking distance into the old town part of Quito - although it's also quite close to a fairly rough area which we were warned to keep away from (hence only 4 stars for location). Our room was spacious and very comfortable with the biggest bed I have EVER seen in any hotel. Staff were friendly and there was a great lounge where free coffee, tea and fresh cake were laid on each afternoon. This meant that more often than not guests congregated in the lounge and made this one of the most sociable hotels we stayed in during our recent holiday in Ecuador and Peru.

Lovely room, enormous and comfy bed. No lift, but this is Ecuador, and it is not a modern hotel and is located in Old Town. Had some excellent food there in the evenings, breakfast included made to order omelette to accompany the buffet. Ideally, we would have spent at least one, if not, two more nights there.

You won't regret your stay here. The rooms are spacious and beautiful with lovely oak furniture. My room looked out to a beautiful interior garden with abundantly tall plants and a mural you'll want to see and love. You'll also like the fact that the hotel is within very close walking distance to the old center. Both breakfast and dinner were consistently delicious. Also, the staff go above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable and safe. For example, the front desk was sure to check my walking routes to make sure my GPS didn't lead me through any unsafe side streets. I cant think of any reasons why I wouldn't return. Great hotel.
