Overall, an enjoyable place with delicious ice cream. There is no seating and the ice cream melts quickly when eaten outside. However, to be expected as I’m there at the end of summer. The flavours were very intriguing and many options were available. There is a toppings station next door where you can add toppings of your choice on the ice cream (1 per every scoop). We weren’t offered samples and I believe they don’t do any. While we lingered outside eating, the staff member brought little sample cups of tea and offered them to us. Great service.

What a beautiful place for tourists to buy souvenirs back. The overall concept is interesting where they focused on confectionaries packed in book/CD/nicely drawn design boxes to create the atmosphere of back to the old days. A little pricey for the items but somehow you just have to buy a few back for your friends. We tried a cup of tea which the staff took time to create it. The tea taste was really good with flowery smell and taste. The tapioca pearls were soft. A nice touch to an unsweetened tea. Next visit, will go for the ice cream. Be prepared to stand to savor them.

I always enjoy a nice stop whenever I visit Taichung. Grab yourself an ice cream to cool down in summer. They have lots of really interesting flavors to try, there’s something for everybody. You can also get free toppings when they calm you to get your order. Miyahara itself is an architectural beauty itself too. I stop by just to admire the beauty of the building itself. There’s also lots of nice souvenirs to bring back too. Cookies, fruits, cakes, nuts, candy and much more. The staff are very friendly and can answer all the questions you have.

A Hogwartz-like sweets shop which attracts more visitors than any other shops nearby. It’s pretty cool as you visit but all the items inside are pretty overpriced. There’s a second floor where you can dine in for an afternoon tea or ice cream. Note the minimal spending per person for the sit down restaurant is NT500, including children. We wanted to try the ice cream since that’s what we came for, but the line was wrapped around like you are in Disney. As we were about to give up hope, we heard a staff was walking around the line to offer to-go ice cream tubes (1-serving size). I mean, it is definitely not as fancy as ones you’d get from the counter but we thought for the time we’d saved, it’s worth a try. We got the strawberry, caramel chocolate and mango. They were all delicious! Give it a try if waiting in line isn’t your thing.

Eye Scream is located behind Miyahara Café, in the same building. The building is right on the riverside, the color is red. Although there was a fairly long line, it moved quickly. As soon as you enter, you pick your ice cream flavors, pay, then choose your toppings — and you’re good to go. The shop looks large from the outside but is actually quite small inside. Ice cream is available in single, double, or triple scoops, and you can also add waffles or a sundae. Toppings are free, but the variety is impressive — not your typical ice cream toppings. There’s a wide selection of ice cream flavors. I went for the Miyahara Special and wanted to try something with coffee. I tried three flavors: • Raisins Mascarpone – This one was good. The raisins added just the right amount of sweetness and tangy taste, and the mascarpone gave it a nice savory balance. Additional NT$10, part of the Miyahara Special. • Honey Cheese – My personal favorite. It had the perfect balance of sweet and salty, making it the tastiest of the three. Additional NT$10, also part of the Miyahara Special. • Tiramisu – This one costs an extra NT$20 and had a strong coffee flavor that made it quite bitter. Personally, I didn’t enjoy it, as I think desserts that are too bitter lose their enjoyment. For toppings, I chose rum raisins and pumpkin seeds. Both were great — the raisins weren’t too dry, and the pumpkin seeds were still crunchy. Despite being free, the toppings were generous. After getting our ice cream, we left right away since there’s no seating available. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to bring the ice cream into Miyahara Café either — you can only stand about 2–3 meters from the entrance door. For that price, I think they should offer some seating, some benches at terrace/semi-outdoor would make a big diffrence. Especially since ice cream isn’t something you can take home — it has to be eaten right away.

Miyahara is probably one of the most well known attractions in Taichung. This is a place selling ice cream, tea and merch. There is a flavour for everyone and if you are not interested in eating, you can still get a bubble milk tea.

Whenever in Taichung, this is a must visit destination. Visited a few times, always enjoyed the experience. From the ice cream parlor to browsing through their souvenir merch to lunches / tea time on the 2nd floor. There's plenty of history here and an immersive experience. The food is actually quite good. Not your typical tourist traps.

Excellent food! They catered to our request without allergens. They have a good variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes. One of the best Indian restaurants!!! If I go back to Taichung, it would be to just eat at this place!

The ultimate comfort food. I adored their palak paneer curry with naan (no photos because I devoured it before remembering). Plating presentation was also on point. Look at how beautiful this lamb shop was presented. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking to have authentic Indian food in Taichung.

Food is tasty except fish curry, that one is too plain. As for their service... Since we were around the time to leave (maybe in 20 mins), when we pressed the bottom to ask for adding water, no one came :( And the weird thing is, some of their waitresses or waiters can't even speak Mandarin. Esp you open a restaurant in TW, no Mandarin offered lol.

Our group had a lunch there. Nice clean welcoming place, very nice interior. All Veg Non Veg food taste, variety was really good. Only one suggestion, they need to improve their tandoor starter item preparation, need to roast properly, I gave this suggestion to the manager also, otherwise rest was really mouth watering tasty. Strongly recommend that Indian restaurant you may believed in the foods and services while you eaten, experienced. Pumpkin soup, Hit Masala Milk Tea and Mix Tikka are my most favorite meals at here. Last, enjoy your meal with your family or friends in the future.

Indian food! Curiously, their branding seems to have more English than Chinese Their naan and rice was good. The plain tassi tastes like plain yogurt, which makes sense. The samosas were very filling Apparently if you give them a review, you get a free dessert as well, which is very nice of them

This place never fails. We usually go to the one at Tianmu but just realized there is the original shop near our hotel. What a treat! We came here for breakfast to try their special breakfast set. I love their hot tea. Simply smooth and warms you up instantly. How I wish I can have the same back home. We ordered our usual, the collage noodles, Dan Dan noodles, shrimp siumai, stir fry sweet potato leaves and tofu skin with enoki. Overall was good. But somehow I prefer ten ren’s dishes. Maybe my taste bud affected due to my flu. It was still a good experience. Am glad we managed to make it here for a nice treat.

Nice decor and plenty of seating when we visited. Would be great if the menu had pictures for non-native speakers. Food came out fast and looked good. Side dishes were tasty, noodles were just okay, but the bubble tea and drinks were really good.

I was very excited to try Bubble Tea at the origin place of its creation and when I arrived to Taichung, it was one of the only places open until later in the evening to visit. I ordered the small classic Bubble Tea, Chili Sesame DanDan Noodles, and the fried Radish Cakes (I was so hungry, I ate them before I could take a picture). The standout dishes were the sesame DanDan noodles and radish cakes. I actually felt quite disappointed in the bubble tea - it is expensive and contains more ice than tea which does not match the price point. I also felt that it had less flavor than the tea I have bought at 50 lab or in the night markets which was only 55NT compared to 120NT. I would recommend clarifying how much ice or sugar you want in advance to ensure that the quality is to your liking. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really peaceful and lively. There were posters depicting the history of the creative tea-making process and guided courses on how to make Bubble Tea at home. I recommend going for the aesthetic and historical experience - do not get your hopes too high for the best boba of your life. Night stalls are the best for this!

Their milk tea is served in pint glasses, as if they are selling beer. As a result, my insulin level had a wild day. They also offer small hot dishes/ snacks that honestly taste better than their milk tea. Minus point for the long queuing time even on a weekday.

Much better than we expected! Service fast and clear. English menu available. Food is gooood! We tried a few dishes and drinks. The food worth more than the drinks, IMO. Walkable from train station, 15mnts.

We had original milk tea with pearls and brown sugar milk tea, the pearls are soft and chewy. The butter toast and the other snacks taste great. We like the ambience at the basement.

Came here around 6pm and had a queue of around 15 minutes wait time. The restaurant itself is quite tidy and if you happen to sit next to the right side of the restaurant. There is some bubble tea trivia which is quite fun to read. As for food, we ordered various dish, all came out quite good. I really like the sesame dandan noodles. Veges and the fried chicken also pretty good. The main star of course is the bubble tea and it has really good flavour and the boba is small size which apparently they kept to the original recipe. It doesnt get stuck in the straw at all. Overall experience very good, we will definitely be back if not this branch, then some other branch.

The place looks nice ,but unfortunately the food isn't great. My friend had a burger that looked ok , but 3 of us had steaks and they were absolutely foul . 2 of us ordered ribeyes and I'm not even sure that's what we got . My friend ordered medium and it looked like it was still alive. Mine was like chewing bubblegum. The fat wasn't rendered and it was unbelievably tough. I'm sure there are lots of good places to eat steak in Taiwan , but this definitely isn't it.

⭐ 1 Star — Because zero stars doesn’t scream loudly enough If culinary disappointment had a capital city, Hot Shock Americano Bistro would be its downtown. I placed an order at 13:30 for a 17:30 pickup and very clearly requested that the food be freshly prepared at 17:15. What I received instead felt like someone had reheated leftovers from a week-old staff fridge. Let’s start with the chicken cheese gratin pasta: the smell alone was enough to make me question my life choices. It had all the charm of a hangover-induced accident in a back alley—overpowering, sour, and offensive. The taste? Even worse. Like curdled cream and despair. Then came the beef burger, which deserves a eulogy, not a review. The bun was rock-hard, stale, and had a musty odor, like it had been on tour with a traveling circus. The patty? Dry, crumbly, and tasted aged—but not in the good, artisanal way. More like forgotten meat defrosted in a microwave apocalypse. Finally, the fried fish burger. I wish I could un-eat it. The fish was dry, rubbery, and tasted like guilt. Honestly, the fish would’ve been better off staying in the ocean rather than ending up in this disgrace of a sandwich. I rarely write reviews, but this experience was so appalling it felt like a public service to warn others. Hot Shock Americano Bistro served me a masterclass in how not to run a kitchen. Avoid this place like you would a bad Tinder date: run fast, and don’t look back. PS: to add insult to injury, after telephoning the establishment to lament about my sheer disappointment. Hilary, the staff member I spoke to assured me the owner would give me a refund that never materialized.

Haven't been to this place before. The environment was nice, clean. My friend and I took the roasted chicken and spaghetti with dinner set which consist a soup and free flow drinks. The food to me I think was nice even though the spaghetti about over cooked. Overall I quite like this place.

Food are great and staff are amazing

It’s really American, the food and the exterior+interior design. There are hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, drinks (alcoholic and non), desserts, etc. All dishes are fine and taste rlly nice with great service as well. Would def come again.

Tiramisu, tomato soup, ketchup and service were very good. Rest… mediocre. Appetizing looking salami pizza had weird sweet flavor to it, double beef burger was slightly burned and the grounded beef had some additions to it that just didn’t sit right. Atmosphere and service really nice though. It’s not a bad place, but there are many better ones.

Honestly, this is not my cup of coffee. The soybean taste is so so. Char Kuey is not really what i expected. Other dishes are also so so. The best is the place is big and comfortable. Overall, foods not really recommended.

Recommended by a local guide as the go to place to experience traditional breakfast and snacks. Really wasn't disappointed. Long queue that was fast moving. The signature soy bean milk with the distinctive burnt taste is to die for. Lots of signature dishes that really deliver.

We always stop by here every time we visit Taichung. They serve various Taiwanese traditional breakfast. Another local gem. Plus they’re open super early in the morning.

20 years of operation! Most of service crew are senior citizens. Good and friendly service. This is authentic local soya bean drinks. With a bit of over burn taste, which is their signature. There are many variety of fried “dim sum” and Xiao long bao. 10 of us visited on a working Monday 11am. Not pack and fast service. We finished all dishes we ordered which were almost all the dishes.

Being a big fan of scallion cakes, I've high expectations of this place. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the smell of fried eggs and onions and fresh flour, causing us to hasten our pace to find a seat. We ordered most of the available items and loved every single one. However, our personal favourite was the egg and scallion folded pancake.

This distinct flavour may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you appreciate a hint of smokiness in your soymilk, you're in for a treat. One of the highlights of my visit was the egg pancake. It was a delightfully fluffy and savoury companion to the soybean milk. The balance of flavours and textures was spot-on, making it a perfect choice for breakfast or a snack. The beef noodles are another standout item on the menu. The rich and hearty broth complements the tender beef slices, creating a satisfying dish that embodies the heartiness of Taiwanese cuisine. If you're a fan of beef noodles, this one is a must-try. Unfortunately, not every item on the menu lives up to the high standards set by their soybean milk and beef noodles. The fried fritters (油条) and Taro Cake, while flavorful, are disappointingly oily. This excessive oiliness tends to overpower the other flavours, making these options less appealing.

Just comments 4-stars since as my point of view the waiters ought to keep smiles till closing the door but they haven’t. Moreover, waiters had not explained the ordering rule so as to help first-coming tourists make the order easily. Except these service manner, the food is delicious, the relaxed atmosphere prevails surrounding this place. No wonder this famous place attracts plenty of customers included tourists and students. I would recommend this restaurant. 推推！

Never eat cos wanna find a place to drink. But nice vibes. Chill n easy. Young crowd likely from the uni here. But good place just to drink and hang out.

This bar had good reviews so we wanted to check it out. The food is GOOD! However, I have a few complaints- 1. TERRIBLE customer service: The “non” smoking section has smokers very close (the table next to ours) from the restaurant next door. So I lost my voice while just waiting for my food. When we asked to be reseated (in Chinese) because of the excessive smoke, we watched the staff seat newcomers at tables (or leave tables completely open) that opened up and deny our requests repeatedly until we asked for a refund. 2. The restaurant ran out of food by 10:30pm. We had to wait for an hour. 3. This restaurant requires vaccine passports. So if you don’t bring one, you can’t order food or sit at one of their tables to wait for it.

Best Yakitori place I know from Taichung. Selection of meats is great. Service is very polite and helpful so it's easy for strangers to come here and have a go. Lovely meat, beer towers and live music (from 7pm?!) What else do you need?

A simple and yummy food affair. For the price point, the spare ribs and chicken are really delicious. Best to select the set meal that comes with white rice top with preserved olive. Recommend to try this in Taichung.

Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. Specializes in their fried chicken. I found the food tasty but not something super special. Chicken was seasoned well and perfectly crispy with a very moist centre but not much different to the night market fried chicken down the street. The cucumbers are quite nice to cut the grease of the chicken and rice pairing, it gets difficult to eat so much friend chicken with rice in my opinion. The specialty kimchi was too sweet and nothing too special. The new marinated egg was tasty, but you can get a similar egg at seven eleven for half the price that tastes the same if not, more flavourful. The A Cai was stir fried very well, perfect amount of seasoning, spicy and Wok Hei. Miso soup is miso soup. Tastes like any other restaurant. Overall, we waited 20mins on a Tuesday at lunch time. It was worth it but I wouldn’t necessarily be craving it again.

I came here for the lunch and everything is good. The food taste well, hot & suitable for a raining day. The atmosphere in the store seems cozy, full of table but not too noisy. The price is ok as well, we have the bill of 800 TWD for 5 people

Ate here on our first day in Taichung and this Michelin Bib did not disappoint. Me and my boyfriend were struggling since they do not have an english menu but the staff helped us so much. Loved the crispy chicken thigh and leg as well as their beef stew. The veggies were also refreshing.

Great quality for the price, clean environment and friendly staff. Not much more you can ask for when it comes to local Taiwanese food. The pork chop was crisp yet juice, the stir-fried vegetables were fresh and had a nice wok-hey depth to them. There was a short wait when arriving at 12:30pm but the line went fast and I was eating by alittle after 12:45.

None of the staff speaks english but theyre really helpful! The batter is just divine. I would say that their pork chops and chicken are seasoned very well but the batter they use to fry takes it to a whole another level. I prefer the chicken compared to the pork cause the chicken skin part with the batter is just crazyyyy

Michelin Stars Restaurant. Really need to try this one. Pork Katsu, Chicken Leg Fried, Fish Thick Broth Soup are their main favorite menu. Sauteed vegie also recommended Kailan. Their chili oil is quite spicy and fit with the menu. Better to reserve first. Always long que.

The chicken was good, taste good, juicy wings, flavor was great !!!!! But it was an hair on our take out pack. Me and my wife thought the hair was stocked on our way home. But we triple checked it, the hair was definitely sticked on the tape in the first place.......(pls check the photo) Please, no more hairy guy serve us delicious chicken!!!

I’m not eating here again. The food is good, but why are the crew like that? They’re so rude — we weren’t even done ordering and they already took the menu from us! My companions were asking questions but they were met with attitude, even raising their voices. What kind of behavior is that? Or maybe they’re like that because we’re not Taiwanese? We came here to experience the food, not to experience such terrible attitudes from the staff!

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant because I had heard good things about the food. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed disinterested and inattentive. We waited quite a while before even being acknowledged, and when we finally were, the attitude felt rushed and unfriendly.☹️ It’s disappointing because the food was actually decent, but the lack of basic courtesy and professionalism from the staff really overshadowed the whole experience. Hospitality is just as important as the menu, and unfortunately, this place missed the mark.😔 I hope management takes the time to improve staff training—this place could be great with the right team in place.

I won't be coming back here again! The staff have bad attitudes! As soon as you enter, it's like they're already angry! When you ask a question, they answer you angrily! And at first, they were even banging things around! Terrible service!

All the dumplings are nice and juicy. Shrimp pork were the highlight. The ones with soup inside them are all good. Sticky pepper pork rice is pretty good, but definitely tastes like a Fastfood Version. If you had a good one from a market, you know what I mean. Curry soup is kind of a cafeteria concept. It's not bad, just a fun soup for kids I guess. To summarise, come for the dumplings.

Excellent Shanghai steam bun and fried bun! Very juicy, so becareful when you bite into it. The clear noodle soul is a best combo to go with the buns.

For having six years of Michelin star ratings, the food is very average when compared to other restaurants of similar credentials. The food doesn’t have any special taste and I feel like you can get this food anywhere, so I’m not sure why the rating is so high.

The restaurant famous for the dumplings. We ordered 2 kinds of the dumplings, pork and leek/veggie. Both of them are really tasty and flavorful.

Simply amazing! One of the best pan fried buns (生煎包) I've had. Super juicy and super crunchy. Their steamed dumplings are good too. Their curry soup looks mild but actually packs quite a punch! Not the spicy kind but definitely flavorful. Price is slightly high if you compare with streetside pushcarts, but definitely reasonable for a restaurant. I would prefer them over the more famous Ding Tai Feng. More homely and less oily as compared to the more commercialized latter

When we lived close to this place, this was our stop for XiaoLongBao once a week. Now we go eat there whenever we get a chance, to get our fix of small and normal size dumplings. Little tip: try their home made SuanMeiTang (plum juice) or the RouZhongZi. All super delicious. Setting is cute and food is authentic.

I like their braised trotter & pork hock. The sauce used is not too sweet yet savoury enough. Meat so tender till falls off the bone. Their lu rou fan & rou zao mian xian also nice. First time in Taichung and glad I managed to eat here.

As of 10.56am on a Weekday when I was there, there were already at least 6 People in Queue.  Not Tourists mind you, but Locals. Staffs are Very Friendly and Polite.  When I was taking photo of the Order Chit, one of the Staffs even took the Initiative to pass me a Even Bigger Menu that has Pictures of the Actual Dishes on it. 魯肉飯 Braised Pork Rice = TWD30 (S$1.50) 鼎旺豬腳 Braised Pork Trotters = TWD90 (S$4.00) Due to Text Limit Constraints, I won't go into details describing every Ingredient here. Conclusion and Closing Thoughts At the Price of TWD30 (S$1.50) for the 魯肉飯, it was Affordable, but you need to have Realistic Expectations that the Taste of this Dish is not going to blow you away.  If you break it down, its just a Small Bowl of Rice with 1 Tablespoon of Chopped Up Braised Pork Belly lum with Braised Sauce. In fact, the More I ate 魯肉飯, the More I felt, this probably originated as a Poor People Food.  I can totally see its Origins as People in the Past who couldn't afford to buy alot of Meat, so instead just buying some Cheap Meat Scraps, Braising them and eating just abit of them paired with Rice.  I'm not sure if this is the Exact History of how this Dish came about, but it really sure feels that way due to how little Meat there was. At the Price of TWD90 (S$4.00) for 2 Pieces of 鼎旺豬腳 Pork Trotters, they were Tasty, but I didn't feel it was Particularly Affordable since there were only 2 Pieces of it. As Good and Soft Melt in the Mouth as the Pork Skin, Fat and Meats were, there were not alot of them actually. I thought just 2 Pieces of Trotters felt kindda Expensive for the Price. I like this Place, the Food is Tasty, Staffs are Friendly and Polite and I have Zero Issues with it. I just feel it is really not necessary to take the Time and Effort to really come to this Particular Eatery just to eat it.  I feel this tastes just like any 魯肉飯 out there.  A Good Tasting 魯肉飯, but ultimately still just a Regular 魯肉飯. A definite highlight of our trip to Taichung. Singapore has pig’s trotters as well. Done differently. But the ones here are uniquely delicious. We ordered the trotters, the sliced pork, a noodle and a classic lourou fan. Absolutely delicious. There are so few seats around, but I guess that adds to the vibes. While the exterior has taken a modern, renovated twist, they have managed to retain enough of an old school feel to the place. Would come back just for this.

I ordered pig trotter 便當 and it came with tofu and bamboo shoots. I was about 1.5x the price I tried at another stall in 台中. Taste-wise was alright, not too salty. Rich in collagen.

A popular pig trotter rice restaurant, meat cooked so well it falls of the bone. Staff was really friendly and helpful. All dishes we ordered were delicious and affordable. Highly recommend!

This is a great place for a plate of pork knuckles, a side of cabbage, some tofu, and a bowl of the famous wheat noodles in sesame oil. It gets extremely busy during lunch time, so go early or go late, and you can get it to go or to eat there. The pork feet are delightfully fragrant and juicy, the tofu and veggies are for extra nutrition, and the noodles are for fun.

4.5 stars. Famous braised pork spot in Taichung with lines forming before they even open. Braised pork Flavour: SS, 9/10 Texture: SS+, 9.5/10. Skin, fat and meat were all different textures but equally delicious Value: S+, 8.5/10. ~$140 for a small plate though it is quite heavy so more may not have been better Lu Rou Fan: S+, 8.5/10. Overall very good. Shop is cozy, bright and air conditioned. Food is hot and fast and delicious. Come for lunch around 12:30pm, almost full but no queue, quite some customers ordering takeaway.

do you like bones? do you like bones more than meat? more bones than fat? more bones than the soft pork skin? then here's the place for you, theyre pork knuckle has more bones than a grave yard, they used to be better than this but that was years ago. This was disappointing, not goin back PS I know pork knuckle is really boney, and you enjoy eating the fat and skin, but here, they barely have any at all. there's so many better places for pork than this check my other review..

Good quality, large portion size & fast, friendly service. Also, as an added layer of precaution against covid, they've switched all plating and utensils to single-use versions. A thoughtful touch.

Wow! Great food, extensive breakfast and brunch menu, fast and efficient service, very fair prices, and nice ambience! We tried the mixed sausages breakfast, hazelnut coffee, macchiato coffee, French toast breakfast, mango smoothie, and panna cotta. What else? They also have outdoor seating in a cozy, tree-covered setting. Note: They serve large portions! Just roll us out the door!

Amazing service and quality. Now probably my favourite restaurant in Taichung. Best breakfast in the city. Salad is huge and delicious, also the burgers are great. Great for kids, too.

Very warm and kind bistro. Very comfort and easy before enter baseball stadium. Especially their bred and appetizer doing just so fine! Yum yum! I won’t tell you too much about other dishes cause they serve your visiting for relax.

This is a Western-inspired Taiwanese brunch cafe with outside seating and a comfortable setting. My test breakfast is always a Benedict as it gives me the parameters I'm looking for. I like my muffin and bacon to be crispy which they weren't, the salad lightly dressed which it wasn't, the potatoes crsipy which they weren't, and my eggs to be free-range or organic which they weren't. Also, the prices are between NT250 and 350 which is not cheap. That said, the eggs were delighfully runny, the Hollandaise had a nice flavor and texture, and I was definitely full and feeling quite satisfied. My suggestion to the owner would be if you are doing well and your customers are happy and come back, don't change anything except try to get better quality eggs which is easy these dasy. If business is not that great then try to improve on some of the things I mentioned. I will check back in a few weeks.

I ordered Egg Benedict dish. Poached egg is too hard, not tender. Hollandaise sauce is not authentic, Canadian bacon is ok. Overall it is very different then what I normally had in New York.

Olimoto is a Taiwanese take on American food. Everything comes with a bottomless drink, so my wife had Sprite and I had lemon ice tea. The ice tea was pre-sweetened. You also get a fresh fruit shake, which was good. My wife had the Australian Farm Breakfast, which came with a chicken breast and ham. She liked it a lot and was very full when she finished it. I had the Mixed Sausages Breakfast, which came with four kinds of German Sausage. Some of the sausages did not differ that much from each other, but there were four distinct flavors. I was also happy and quite full. We would eat here again and might before we head back to the USA.

This place serves good food overall. And their service was very good, very attentive waiter and waitress. Enjoyed our meal there. We ordered set meal for 2. We enjoyed 梅菜扣肉 the most. Soup is warm and hearty. Pudding dessert paired really with the espresso shot.

A casual lunch short stay in Taichung surprisingly visited this mansion with history since 1929. Building used to belong to a wealth gent with 3 wives all under one roof, but different sections…. Now converted to authentic Tai Wan cuisine, love it! All dishes in small portion dishes abled us to sample many dishes all new to me except the succulent roast chicken, braised pork knuckles, both delicious, no wonder this place Michelin recommended! After lunch we stepped to next room the coffee lounge used to be the third wife’s quarter, tranquil & relaxing…. This place really worth visit if you visit Tai chung🥂🥂

High-quality Taiwanese food with a slightly modern take. The service was super friendly and took their time to explain the menu thoroughly. As a single-diner, it can be difficult to find good Chinese food options because you often need to dine in larger groups. However, here they have a great option to make any Main dish into a set meal (teishoku-style) that comes with seasonal side dishes, soup and a beverage. They also have some smaller dishes that add-on well to the set meal in terms of quantity and price in case you’re hungry or want to try a few more things. For me the real star was the service though, some of the best I’ve received in Taiwan.

Finally had the chance to visit this restaurant in the West District. I was served by a lovely waitress named 晴晴, who was friendly and attentive throughout my meal. The ingredients of the day were exceptionally fresh and perfectly suited to my Cantonese taste. I was very impressed by her thoughtful food recommendations and overall service. The dishes were delicious, and I even ended up ordering an extra dessert because everything was so enjoyable. Overall, I’m very happy with the dining experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality food and great service.

Fantastic: fried egg tofu. Tasted like a plate of phenomenal agedashi tofu. Good: Taiwanese sausage (I personally felt it was fantastic), Black garlic chicken soup, stir fry duck with pineapple Average: Stew egg, shrimp and seaweed. It was really quite bland. Overall, an enjoyable meal.

Shin Yuan was fabulous, staff was great service was impeccable and the food was perfect each dish had its own unique twist to it. Beef was flavourful, chicken taro such a wonderful blend and the soups was amazing

My husband and I first meal upon reaching Taichung and well choice made. Very juicy piping hot chicken when served.. they provide u gloves so you can eat it with your hands which tastes so much yummy eating this way .. lol Eating the chicken dipping in the salt and pepper condiments just enhances its taste. Must try! Ordered their cabbage dish which looks plain and normal BUT the cabbage so so fresh sweet and crunchy! Helps cleanse the oilyness from the chicken . Recommended place 👍 Do note their chicken size is quite big and I find it well suffices 2 person. So take note not to over order if it's just a party of 2 or so ..

Clay pot chicken is flavored and succulent. Highly recommended for any chicken biters.

This is a great place for a dinner with friends or family. The signature dish is a Longan wood-roasted chicken that's fantastic and fun to eat after the server rips it apart at the table. But also the bamboo soup, the pork knuckle, the grilled prawns, the chicken oil bamboo, the fried squid, and the breaded fish are delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the service is efficient. Expect around NT5000 to 6000 for 10 people.

Famous for firewood cooked chicken. Bamboo was nice but the Squid was too dry. Lots of seats. Parking available.

Nice Korean restaurant. There is a upstairs for more dining space. Good variety of food at reasonable price. Tasty and and nice. Very near to the museum. So can pop out of the museum for a bite and then continue on with the tour of the beautiful museum.

It is reasonable price, delicious, big portion. It is a small restaurant but fulfilling with good quality. Highly recommend especially the hot pan fried rice. I can eat 2 more 😅😅

At the entrance, they have the menus and markers for you to place your order. Don’t be fooled by the cramped interior, there are more seats upstairs. Waitress then directs you to a table. You basically check whatever you want and then hand the sheet to the waitress. Food comes in like 15 min top (maybe cuz it’s not busy hour?🤷🏻‍♂️) The lady was nice enough to warn me the army stew is a little spicy She also was a bit worried I didn’t understand her (likely because I was a bit tired and zoned out haha). All in all, the lady at the counter seemed caring enough, but wasn’t like a hen over her chicks type. Army stew: mediocre Has a Taiwanese twist to it Could use a stronger soup base instead of plain water Ramen tased Korean Bonchon didn’t quite taste on point Fried chicken was good (the juice bursted out of my mouth Fries were good and crispy too

0 Star for food! The taste & smell, is nothing like a Korean Tofu stew. The stew came out looking like they order 1 soup and watered it down & split it into 5 soups. my soup was light orange. “Korean Dried Chicken” Chicken was not crispy at all Fries was soggy as well all the sauce that is supposed to be on the chicken is in the bottom of the box.. photos on the menu looks very authentic - but their food comes out completely different to the photos on the menu. Extremely deceiving. (see pics)

Reasonable prices Business is good, so be prepared for waiting for like 15-20 mins to get ordered dishes served to your table during peak dining hours.

Went there by myself and when the staff heard that, she was like “Only one person?” Not sure what that tone was abt but the food is great and the price is fair. 👌🏼

Food was generally tasty. However, service was disappointing. Two dishes took more than 30 mins. Had to go to counter to ask about the dishes for 2-3 times. Soap was served but no bowls and spoons were provided. Again had to go find the staff to bring them over. In the end, restaurant gave 10% discount for the poor service. It was a good gesture but still spoils the entire experience.

Is open court yard, feel ok for summer night with fan blowing, remind me of my childhood. They are Michelin rated. Is decent, it's Ok, but just that they have dish that need to call ahead, it was last minute decision so only was able to order the Chicken. Tank baked chicken it was good, but it was not hot, and skin was not crispy, but admit the white meat was juicy not dry. Another famous dish the shrimps with yogurt sauce, dish in my mind that can not go wrong was cold and oily. Don't they just fry in hot oil and put sauce on.....should be lukewarm..not cold..the soup was ok, but not hot...or maybe they don't want the guest to feel hot so everything is lukewarm or cold? Service was great just maybe I had a higher expectations for dishes, or I didn't order the right one??

Perfectly grilled chicken with skin golden brown while the meat tender and juicy. Do remember to call to reserve both the seat and the dish.

Chicken is juicy (meat chunk is thicker than the usual hao da chicken) and fresh and the batter is delicious. They don’t cut for you though. However dropping two stars because: 1. The shopkeeper saw my review and the board says 5 yuan discount with a review but still charged me 75 yuan 2. The balance of spices is not good. No wonder most people took original. The pepper given is too much and everyone chokes.

Meat must have been soaked in a sweet sauce. Definitely worth a try if you are a fried chicken fan.

Delicious chicken fillet that i ever taste, but to get the chicken we must wait around 5-15 minutes, but fair enough for the taste of the chicken! Will be back here next time!

So excited to try, after all the YouTube hype, but as I’m finding with a lot of the food in Taichung, it’s too sweet. The brine and the batter have too much sugar for my taste. Stars for tenderness of the meat and crunch to the batter.

This is one of many Japanese grill places in this city serving fast, delicious, reasonably priced, and fun food. The soft shell crab, the soft bone chicken pieces, the burdock, and the silk melon noodles are probably my favorite items but most dishes are quite yummy. I didn't care for the beef tongue as it didn't look nor taste very good but I'll give it another try on my next visit.

I had an amazing experience! The ambiance was inviting, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I ordered the sesame tofu and it was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The dessert was a delightful finish to the meal. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere. I can't wait to return!

Although the place was an enjoyable experience. There were a lot of yellow flags that happened while we were there. It was difficult to communicate with all of our party, because it was so loud, the service providers attitude were not the greatest, and the food quality itself was not up to standard to the other branch that we had visited.

Came here from the reviews and the reputation. This place is renowned for their poultry meat (goose, duck). We first thought that this place will taste authentic, delicious and fragrant, but frankly, it’s worse than we thought. We expected that this place’s flavors will not be that strong, and although it is, when eaten everything together it just tasted like hospital food for patients. Bland, no seasoning at all, and EXTREMELY OVERRATED. There are much better places with better taste than this. Therefore, Not worth it for a Michelin gourmand.

We came here because it is on the Michelin list. We ordered the goose dry noodles, the roast duck and the rice. The rice was absolutely cooked to perfection. I’m not a huge fan of meat on the bone so the duck wasn’t for me, but my kids liked it a lot. Very friendly owners and nice family vibe.

This is a small Taiwanese restaurant in a small street, not too crowded but a bit busy. The owner is very cute, you just need to show them the picture and they will bring the exact dish you want. The food is delicious, try the roast duck (hope it's roast duck haha) it's delicious with rice. I will be back!!!

This hole-in-the wall restaurant in an alley in central Taichung is the best!! The smoked goose is to die for. Their blood cakes are also very good. I'm also a huge fan of their sticky rice and bamboo shoots. I am personally not crazy about their soup noodle but my mom likes it. It's brewed with Chinese medicine so if you're not into it, don't order it. It's not a fancy place and it's family run, but the boss lady is super nice. We eat here at least 2 or 3 times a month. It's inexpensive and delicious. Oh, no English menu so be prepared for that.

We ordered both the original and garlic flavors, but found both to be quite salty. However, for 90 NTD each, the generous portion of clams made it worth the price. While we wouldn’t go out of our way specifically for the clams, we’d definitely buy them again if we happen to be in the area.

Is a must visit for me everytime I fly to Taichung. My friends and I can never share this food. We even sometimes ordered 2 boxes for each person. Their clams very fresh even though is cool down as we bought take away back to our hotel. The staff are friendly and nice to recommend. Can eat on the spot with hands as there is a sink beside their stall to wash hands. Very good clams pls keep it up the freshness.

Bought shaoxing prawns and original flavour clams..both were super duper delicious. Would have eaten very night if we had know it so delicious. Noticed the vendor being very attentive to other customers, by giving cup carriers to customers. Wonderful!
