Tokyo Tower, reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower, is a significant landmark in Tokyo and Japan. It was opened in 1958 and celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2018. Standing at 333m tall, it offers observation areas at 150m and 250m high, providing stunning views of Mt. Fuji, Mt. Tsukuba, and the entire Tokyo metropolis.
Absolutely loved our visit to Tokyo Tower! The views are breathtaking—on a clear day you can see all the way across the city, and the sunset-to-night transition is pure magic. The staff were friendly, the lines moved quickly, and everything felt clean and well-organized. The main deck has great photo spots and helpful signage in English. Bonus: there was a special car promotion happening today at the base plaza with sleek display models, mini demos, and fun photo ops—an unexpected treat that added to the vibe without crowding the experience. Easy access from the station, plenty of cafes and souvenir options downstairs. If you’re in Tokyo, make this a must-do!
Da D — Google review
Absolutely worth the extra ticket! The Sky Deck gives a breathtaking open-air view of Tokyo — you can feel the breeze and see the city lights. It’s especially beautiful around sunset or at night when the skyline glows. The staff are friendly and help keep the experience smooth and safe. You can see landmarks like Roppongi Hills, Rainbow Bridge, and even Mount Fuji on a clear day. It’s peaceful, romantic, and unforgettable — definitely one of the best viewpoints in Tokyo.

My wife booked us in for a pickleball game UNDER TOKYO TOWER! I didn’t know they did this… it was a great experience! On the roof-top of the building directly beneath the tower. There were two courts and an attendant managing thins. She provided our rackets and balls + took some photos at then end. We had the kids with us so they were helping referee our games. There were some photo spots on the room and vending machines, so they kept busy for the hour… There was also a bar / restaurant up on the roof but unfortunetly it was not open. Would have been nice to be able to head there for a biru after the match! Next time…. All in all it was a great experience, staff were helpful and it was a very cool day seeing a unique side of a historic landmark of the city. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻

Tokyo Tower is an iconic symbol of the city, standing at 333 meters tall. Its design is inspired by the Eiffel Tower, featuring a striking red and white color scheme. Visitors can access observation decks for breathtaking panoramic views of Tokyo, including sights like Mount Fuji on clear days. The tower also houses a variety of shops, restaurants, and an aquarium, making it a versatile destination. The surrounding park is lovely for leisurely strolls. Overall, Tokyo Tower offers a unique blend of history, culture, and stunning views, making it a must-visit for tourists.
Eldor S — Google review
Visiting Tokyo Tower at night was an incredible experience. The tower’s warm orange glow against the evening sky is truly stunning. The observation deck offers breathtaking panoramic views of Tokyo’s city lights. The place is clean, well-maintained, and easy to access. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Tokyo! 🗼
Mharz — Google review
We were here last night and the experience was exceptional, a once in a lifetime must see wonder. As Japan, in general bring in the ring of fire and Tokyo in particular this structural icon of Tokyo with stood earthquakes. The top deck experience for me spiced up the experience. As it gave a different perspective being 252 meters above, with its cool IG picturesque effect.
Flp C — Google review
Absolutely stunning views of Tokyo, especially at sunset! We paid for the upper floor, and it's well worth the extra cost and should be booked in advance. The main floor is a little crowded, and features a cramped shop and various brand-related events. This whole area becomes pitch black at night, with glass or glow-in-the-dark floor areas, and is overall a great way to experience the area. However, if you have a time-slot for the additional floor you can line up at another elevator (note your time STARTS at the time listed, not "must arrive by" as the email says!) to go higher. This includes a brief promotional video, a professional photo (printed on a small promotional leaflet as you leave), a small drink, but most importantly a mirror-filled observation deck. From this deck you can see miles and miles in all directions, with the city's drastic appearance change during sunset providing a unique perspective. Whilst it can be quite crowded, people typically move on after taking their selfies so you can stare in peace. It's even possible to see mt fuji sometimes! Upon exiting there's a strange small mall at the base, selling various mementos and snacks, with the exit hidden away and requiring careful sign following.
Jake L — Google review
Amazing view! I visited on a Saturday night after dinner, walking from Roppongi Station and taking photos of the tower from several different angles. It’s beautifully lit up at night, and if there’s fog, it adds an extra layer of magic for those chasing the perfect shot. There was no queue late at night for the observation deck—perhaps because of the rain or simply the late hour. Around the area, you’ll find a few food trucks, a small Family Mart, and souvenir shops on the second floor. Take a stroll before buying anything, as there are plenty of interesting items to choose from. For photos, make sure to walk around the tower—each angle offers a unique perspective. Personally, I think nighttime is the best time to visit for stunning shots.

Roppongi Hills is a bustling commercial complex in Minato City, featuring the iconic 238-meter Mori Tower and a wide array of amenities. This area is part of the Special Zone for Asian Headquarters initiative, aimed at attracting foreign companies with various incentives. The complex houses offices, restaurants, art museums, movie theaters, and TV stations.
I visited here during Christmas, and the illumination was absolutely beautiful — rows of lights stretching for kilometers. The event was lively and very crowded, but the festive atmosphere made it really enjoyable. The weather was also perfect at that time.

Such a pity that I discovered this place on my last day in Tokyo. Am really not a mall rat but i do like the way this place was made. While most shops were still closed when I explored this place on a Sunday morning, I am sure that Roppongi Hills not only offers shopping but culture as well. You would be able to fund a personal spot just to absorb how magnificent the city pf Tokyo is!
Patrick T — Google review
Roppongi is a great area. It’s probably where the people earning the most in Tokyo live, very high end apartments and a bit more space and less crowds. Mitsuoka mage brand new vintage cars, the red car is a Yaris remade, amazing craftsmanship and style. I want this car, it looks a bit like a jaguar. Great area and check out Teamlabs Borderless, incredible.

I visited the Mori Building for the Sou Fujimoto exhibition at the Mori Art Museum on the 53rd floor. It was incredible, and I highly recommend going before it closes on November 9, 2025. Attached are new projects on going and its description is at the bottom of each photo. You can google them. A visionary architect. Sou Fujimoto promotes community, connections via building architecture with essences of openness, amorphous and many many which are integrated with the nature.
Grace B — Google review
Roppongi Hills is a well-designed complex that combines a shopping center on the lower floors, office spaces in the middle, and museums and observation deck at the top. Its thoughtful architecture and beautiful design make it a pleasant place to explore on foot. Located on the 52nd floor, the Mori Art Museum is definitely worth a visit. The current exhibition showcases the work and vision of Sou Fujimoto - highly recommended

Nestled on the third floor of Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, the Suntory Museum of Art has been a cultural gem since 1961. Showcasing over 3000 pieces, this cozy museum celebrates the fusion of traditional Japanese art with modern life. The collection includes exquisite lacquerware, textiles, paintings, ceramics, and glassware. While there are no permanent exhibitions, visitors can enjoy special themed displays throughout the year.
super fun curation, very irreverent and thought-provoking. really like that they show a different dimension of japanese art. it’s also located in tokyo midtown so you can do some shopping before/after.

Exhibition on a small collection of Emile Galle, mostly glassware in the 1880s. Quite interesting. Weekend lunch time was crowded.
K. T — Google review
Located in the building of Tokyo Mid Town, the museum has about 2 floors of exhibition. Mostly, they are those prestigious artifects involving people's everyday's life, including trunk, ceramics, glass and room separator, aligning with the fundamental concept of "Art in Life." I like the Western Kings on Horseback as this masterpiece is an early example of western-style painting in Japan. The painting refers to an image on the margin of a world map published in Amsterdam, magnified, colored, and finished in this large format. The kings are said to be, from the right, the King of Persia, the King of Ethiopia, and Henry IV of France. The identify of the figure on the far left is disputed, with the king of England. This piece also represents how Japan connected to the outside world and how miraculous it survive through the Tokyo bomb in WW II.
Anima T — Google review
Love the latest exhibition (More and More: Unsettling Japanese Art)! The museum provides English description and makes Japanese art very approachable. Highly recommended. They do rotating exhibitions (no permanent exhibits), so check out the website in advance to check if it’s up your alley.

Museum is on 3F in shopping mall. It was hard for me to find it but at last I did find it. There is lot of boxes and ceramics and clothes and paintings. It’s pretty dark but I like it. Good atmosphere but not so many places to sit. Enjoy your visit.
Dušan — Google review
Nothing impressive in terms of installation and architecture. The collection is interesting yet small, and it doesn't offer anything new that can't be found in larger institutions like the Tokyo Art Museum. Navigation is quite challenging, as the museum is located on the third floor of a shopping center. Additionally, there is nothing particularly impressive in terms of installation and architecture.

Observation deck
Tokyo City View, located in the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, offers a stunning panoramic view of Tokyo from its indoor and outdoor observation decks. Standing at 238 meters above ground level, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the cityscape, with the possibility of spotting iconic Mount Fuji on clear days.
Looking for a tower for a great view of Tokyo, look no further than Tokyo City View at Roppongi Hills. For me this is the beat high viewpoint in the city. It's not a tourist trap like Sky Tree and has a bit more about it than the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building North Observation Deck. We paid about 4,000 Yen for entrance fee and it certainly was worth it. It didn't have crazy crowds of people and you could enjoy the space and the views without the madness of SkyTree. Before buying our tickets a lady showed us a clipboard with images of what the view would look like as it was cloudy and wet. This is great to prevent any disappointments at the top. There were a few art exhibits taking place at floor 52, which was great to explore in-between admiring the Tokyo skyline. If you are looking for a quieter observation deck to see Tokyo's skyline, this is the place for you!
Antzarmy — Google review
Visiting Tokyo City View was a really nice experience. The observation deck offers panoramic views of Tokyo with floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the entire level, giving you multiple angles of the city. I booked my ticket for 5pm, which I highly recommend—it’s the perfect time to watch the transition from daylight to sunset to night. Seeing the city gradually light up, with the Tokyo Tower glowing in the distance, was definitely the highlight. If you’re into photography, this is a great spot with plenty of opportunities for stunning shots. That said, it’s mainly a sightseeing experience, so don’t expect much beyond the views themselves. Overall, a beautiful way to take in Tokyo’s skyline, especially if you time it for sunset.
Eugenio C — Google review
Amazing! Best view in Tokyo if you ask me. Went up at 4pm for sunset at 4:45pm. Staff very friendly and views were amazing. Able to walk around on the floor to get different views, including Tokyo Tower and Mt Fuji (on a clear day). Highly recommend this viewing platform above others.
Michi S — Google review
Had one of the best sunset views in our lives here. We were able to see Mt Fuji and the Tokyo Tower. It can get a little crowded, but we managed to grab some seats and enjoy the view. Definitely won’t forget this evening!
Immanuel E — Google review
One of the best place to view Tokyo Tower and take beautiful photos of it and with other landmarks, like Rainbow Bridge, Sky Tree, Haneda airport, even Mt. Fuji when the weather is good. It’s also easy to walk in and buy tickets as the spot, and not too crowded, unlike Shibuya sky where you must book tickets weeks ahead. I happened to find the Fire bird exhibition is on when I visited - another bonus for me. Unfortunately the deck closed at 10pm and in order to wait for the classic Tokyo Tower light during public holidays, I couldn’t go here for night pic, but it’s equally breathtaking during the day.
Rulo — Google review
A nice city view from 52th floor. Entry price is 2,000 yen. Not so many people even on the weekend, and had a relaxed time there.
Linn T — Google review
Nice experience. Enjoy the wonderful birw of blue sky with mountain, if you are lucky enough and the weather is good.
Grace H — Google review
Buying tickets is a breeze and redeemed on site. Came around 7pm with excellent views of Tokyo tower and other parts of Tokyo Good value overall and there’s a 360 degree view Less people than Shibuya sky which is a big plus

Azabudai Hills, a newly completed landmark in the heart of Tokyo, is a visionary project by Mori Building that integrates offices, residences, medical facilities, commercial spaces, and an international school. The complex includes the towering Residence B and Residence A which blend lush greenery with contemporary design to create a serene urban oasis. The main building, Mori JP Tower, offers an observation floor on its 33rd level where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Tokyo cityscape for free.
This is a very nice shopping area with many different luxury shops as well as nice markets, cafes, and restaurants. There is also the teamlab museum (get tickets early/in advance!), a Starbucks, and lots of areas to sit and relax. They also seemed to be showing outdoor movies and likely have many other activities throughout the summer. Definitely worth checking out and exploring or going for lunch or coffee.

Interesting development in Minato. The architecture creates a more walkable, neighborhood like experience. High end shops, and many cafes and restaurants. The market is quite good, with a great selection of fresh foods, and restaurants and pop up experiences. Definitely recommended for an afternoon stroll.
David B — Google review
Very lovely area to have a walk and hang out. There are all booths that sells soft cream. Malls with delectable chocolate shop. Also if you do visit the area, don’t forget to check out the sky cafe and bar at the tower to check out the beautiful city view of Tokyo and get a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the distance. And a really good view of Tokyo Tower just beside. Sunset time will get you the gorgeous breathtaking sky view!
Asra A — Google review
Polished and architecturally impressive, but it’s still finding its buzz. The buildings and gardens are beautiful, and the whole thing is impeccably designed, but it felt a little too calm for a place that’s meant to be a new cultural hub. Worth a look, but I’ll be curious to see how it settles into itself over time.

Zōjō-ji Temple is the main temple of Jōdo-shū Buddhism and features ornate buildings dating back to the 1600s. Situated in Tokyo, it offers a unique experience as it stands at the beginning of modern Tokyo Tower, showcasing a blend of ancient history and contemporary architecture. Originally founded in 1393, the temple was relocated to its current location in 1598.
Visited the temple three times during my trip to Tokyo. The temple in itself is rather serene and majestic, which is perfect for worshippers like myself. Given the temple’s relationship with the Tokugawa shogunate, the temple grounds also houses the tombs is several Tokugawa shoguns. Be sure to be here early so that you will be able to enter the grounds of the museum at B1 which is simply breathtaking and the grounds of the Tokugawa tombs.

Spectacular Buddhist temple just in front of the Tokyo tower 🗼. At some times you can see the monks doing their services. This place was very calm and quiet despite central location. I recommend coming here for moment of reflection.

Zojo-ji Temple is a must-see if you are visiting Tokyo, Japan. An incredibly beautiful temple, with an interesting cultural history behind it. The temple grounds are large with nice green areas, several statues and a general calming atmosphere. I went here during the day and evening. Considering that Tokyo Tower is at the back of the temple, you should see the temple at night, to see the wonder that hides behind the temple.
Robbie T — Google review
Zojo-ji Temple is such a beautiful and peaceful spot right in the middle of Tokyo. You can actually see Tokyo Tower rising behind the temple—it’s such a stunning view and makes for the perfect photo moment. The temple grounds are quiet and well-kept, and there’s this lovely mix of history and calm that makes you want to slow down and just take it all in. We got our goshuin here and even picked up a goshuincho belt, which was such a nice surprise! Definitely worth a visit if you’re exploring the area—it’s a perfect blend of culture, history, and those iconic Tokyo vibes.
Jane G — Google review
Important temple for Tokyo (Edo), very close to Tokyo Tower (NB - not Skytree). Peaceful, a great place for meditation (at least early in the morning, at 9-10 am, as not many visitors were around when I went there). The famous Tokugawa family had their cemetery here (not Tokugawa Ieyasu, but 6 other shoguns)
Japonaisseur — Google review
Quiet. Free entry. A bit creepy with all the small Buddhas in the garden of the temple. They are the guardians of the dead children. It is a highly spiritual place. Beware of the many mosquitoes in the garden. It seems Tokyo has an increasing mosquito issue across the whole city. Walking distance from Tokyo Tower.
Lora O — Google review
This is a really cool temple in the middle of the Tokyo metropolis. The juxtaposition between modern and traditional is fascinating and beautiful. I was lucky to witness a local family participating in a religious ceremony for their children at the temple, and it was very beautiful. If you are in the area, this is a great way to spend your time in this neighborhood.

We had a guide on arrival in Tokyo and he was fabulous - this was one of the places we visited with him It’s very central in Tokyo and well worth a visit - it has a large area of gardens that it’s located in and also has a great little tea room where you could get an ice team or drink Be prepared to do lots of walking as even if you take the train you still need to walk to the station - note there are lots of steps ! The little statues represent the children who have passed and who are being looked after in the after life - very sweet

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Rainbow Bridge is a stunning suspension bridge that spans Tokyo Bay, connecting Shibaura Wharf to Daiba. Opened in 1993, it serves as both a transportation route and a beloved landmark for the new Tokyo Bay area. The bridge features vibrant nighttime illumination powered by solar energy and offers a walking route along its 1.7 km length.
The Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo is a stunning architectural marvel and a must-see attraction. Spanning Tokyo Bay, it offers breathtaking views, especially at night when it's beautifully illuminated. Whether you're walking, driving, or taking a boat tour, the bridge provides a unique perspective of the city's skyline. The pedestrian walkways are perfect for a leisurely stroll with picturesque scenes, making it a favorite spot for both locals and tourists. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tokyo!
Pragash Y — Google review
This is definitely something to see the bridge itself looks stunning specially at night when the lights turn on, do keep in mind that if it's not a holiday, the lights will only shine in white or purple. Otherwise, if it's a holiday, it will be a rainbow color. I recommend taking pictures of it or watching it from the Statue of Liberty.

I was staying in Odaiba, and walking across the promenade of the rainbow bridge was an amazing way to get to the Tokyo tower. The bridge is a great design and is a real focus point of the surrounding area. It's great to look at it, but if you get the chance, I would definitely recommend walking across.
Steve — Google review
Beautiful! Walking across was breathtaking both day and night. It fills the senses with awe and gratefulness at both the formidable power of nature as well as man’s attempts and progress at taming it, or “bridging the gap,” as they say haha. I loved walking around this entire area and I feel it’s best explored on foot, alone with your thoughts. If you’re feeling like a stroll to or from Tokyo, definitely recommend checking it out! Would love to come back one day.
Ben S — Google review
The Tokyo skyline featuring Tokyo Tower and the Rainbow Bridge is one of the city’s most iconic and photogenic views. By day, the skyline is a striking mix of modern high-rises, Tokyo Tower’s bold red-and-white structure, and the elegant sweep of the Rainbow Bridge connecting Odaiba to central Tokyo. By night, the scene transforms into a dazzling spectacle — the bridge glows with shifting colors, Tokyo Tower illuminates the skyline in orange light, and the surrounding skyscrapers sparkle, creating a vibrant, almost cinematic atmosphere. For photographers, Odaiba offers some of the best vantage points, particularly from the waterfront or from the decks of nearby shopping complexes. Long-exposure shots across the bay capture the shimmering reflections on the water and emphasize the dynamic contrast between the stillness of the harbor and the pulsing energy of the city. Sunset is another magical time to shoot, as the fading sky behind Tokyo Tower and the bridge softens the cityscape into rich tones of gold and blue. Wide-angle lenses work well to encompass both landmarks in a single frame, but telephoto shots can isolate the tower, the bridge, or individual high-rises for a more dramatic effect. The combination of engineering brilliance and urban beauty makes this skyline view one of Tokyo’s must-see experiences. It’s a place where tradition and modernity meet in light, color, and form, offering photographers endless creative possibilities.
Paul P — Google review
Year 2016 the color of the lights of the rainbow bridge is like a rainbow its very beautiful, but my 2nd and 3rd visit is different from now the color isn't a rainbow color but somehow the bridge is still beautiful and amazing view.

Hamarikyu Gardens is a public park located on the site of a 17th-century Shogun villa, featuring an Edo-period style layout with a pond. Situated along the Sumida River, visitors can enjoy views of Tokyo Skytree from nearby Sumida Park and take a short walk or cruise to Hamarikyu Garden and Odaiba Island. This garden was meticulously designed over time by successive shoguns, drawing seawater from Tokyo Bay.
Great park, right next to the seawater. In fact the ponds inside are full with sea water drawn directly from the bay area. You can enjoy the piece and awesome trees and plans for a nice walk. Don’t miss it out if you enjoy a small escapes from the urban area, I will define it as a green paradise in the middle of sky skyscrapers. Plus you can find some pretty cool stamps on the entrance

One of my favourite gardens in Tokyo, we visited it during a non-busy period of the year. It was delightful. Enjoy your matcha at the tea house facing the pond.
MD N — Google review
What a splendid place to spend the afternoon! Strolling the grounds, exploring every nook and cranny. I spent a few hours here one spring afternoon after eating a great omakase lunch. This was the perfect place to burn off some extra calories, wandering the paths. It was an equally enjoyable place to enjoy a nice little siesta underneath one of the many trees that provide shade in this beautiful park. If you’re into green spaces, I highly recommend a visit! Can’t wait to come back 🤗
Ben S — Google review
Beautiful traditional gardens that used to be the falcon hunting grounds of the Shogun. Compared to Shinjuku Gardens, Hamariku has more beautiful water features, including bridges and a tea shop over water. There's something to see in every season - plum blossoms in February, cherry blossoms in March, wisteria in April, as well as a season flower garden planted with rotating varieties year round. The garden also hosts seasonal and cultural celebrations. The garden tends to be quiet most days (certainly compared to Shinjuku Gardens). The open picnic areas are recommended for families with kids looking for a place to run around in the grass.
C Z — Google review
Lovely gardens by the water. You can tell it’s being taken care of and the admission fee is definitely worth paying (300¥ per person). There are many benches you can sit on, paths you can walk on, lovely bridges across ponds and some traditional tea houses offering matcha and sweets🍵 It feels so calm and is the perfect place to escape rushed Tokyo, in Tokyo🧚

For such a relatively small park, it has pretty much everything that makes up a good park. Ponds, small islands with bridges, meadows, woods, and flowers. A wonderful place.

An amazing tranquil location within the city of Tokyo. Next to the sea so often has sea vessels blowing across it. The ancient gardens are kept in amazing condition. Well worth a walk around. It was 36 Delicious when we visited and we enjoyed the quiet and peace it gave us. It was fantastic in July. I imagine it is great throughout the year. Do visit if you have time. Saw many butterflies there.

The Tsukiji Outer Market is a bustling hub of fresh seafood and local delicacies. While the wholesale fish market has moved to a new location, the outer market continues to attract visitors with its wide variety of seafood, sweet treats, vegetables, and pickles. In addition to food, visitors can explore knife shops and kitchen supplies. The market also features restaurants where guests can sample delicious dishes. It's a popular spot for tourists seeking an authentic culinary experience in Tokyo.
So many things to eat and shop here. I loved the variety of food! Tried lots of different dishes and everything was delicious. Even lined up for the sweet egg, and it was totally worth the wait of everything. Such a fun foodie spot to explore.
Jureeporn Y — Google review
Definitely not a cheap venture it is still a must try experience. It's just hard to know what to get and from where without knowing a local. The sashimi choice is phenomenal as is the stalls offering everything from giant grilled scallops, sea urchin, fresh oysters and Okonomi-age which is my new favourite street snack. Best to walk the market (it's not huge) then decide what you like the look of and at what price and then go back to eat. The Whale Sashimi was nothing like I'd tasted before - an acquired taste that was best described as the kangaroo of the sea! And I opted to try the Tuna Sashimi from Sushizanmai as price vs value was the best. However, if you are a sushi aficionado looking for a top-tier experience it is a little less “magical” than the smaller, specialized sushi shops or high-end omakase spots. I loved the Mitarashi Dango and I prefered the hot Tamogayaki on a stick better than the cold pre-prepared options. The Wagyu Beef Tacos from Wagyu Jyu Jyu was also a win and are a tasty, budget Wagyu fix — not as luxe, but worth it for the salsa onion. To wash it all down do not go past a Muscat Grape Smoothie, my newest addiction! And a hidden gem are the Pork And Chicken Dumplings from Suga Shoten and as an added bonus are one of very few that take card.
Regaleatsmelb — Google review
An absolute paradise for food lovers! The freshest seafood you can imagine — I tried some incredible tuna that just melted in my mouth. The market is full of colors, energy, and amazing smells, with stalls offering sushi, oysters, grilled scallops, and all kinds of snacks. Don’t miss the delicious ice cream — perfect after a seafood feast! Great place for photos too — every corner is full of life and color. A must-visit when in Tokyo!

# 🇯🇵 Tsukiji: Early Morning Charm Meets Tourist Traps Tsukiji is rather worth an early morning visit—there’s something quite authentic about the old Japanese atmosphere that lingers in the narrow lanes. However, do tread carefully. Establishments charging 5,000 yen for a single beef skewer? That’s what one might call the textbook definition of an “intelligence tax” aimed squarely at tourists 😅 A reliable rule of thumb: Stick to spots where you see Japanese locals queuing up. If the clientele is entirely tourists, well… your wallet will thank you for walking past. 💡 Quick Tip Early mornings offer the best atmosphere, and following the locals never steers you wrong.

Tsukiji Fish Market is a historic market in Tokyo that has also become a popular tourist attraction. Fortunately, they still have a market selling fish, in addition to restaurants and shops selling souvenirs. Additionally, the food and drinks at Tsukiji Fish Market are very reasonably priced. All the stores and restaurants are bustling, with hundreds of customers lined up outside. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning to Tsukiji Fish Market next time I visit Tokyo.
Michael W — Google review
Arrived around 9 30 and felt I was late as the place was so crowded. Lots of food options especially seafood which all looked nice and fresh. The egg omelet place had the biggest queue. I couldn't face seafood so early in the morning so opted for a quiet coffee at the end of the main road and a mooch. Lots going on here and worth the trip out.
Bronz — Google review
If you’re a big fan of seafood, this is the place for you for fresh sushi and assorted seafood dishes. Unfortunately the Tsukiji Market is closed on Wednesdays. There are other food choices such as waygu beef, strawberry mochis and ramen. A nice place to visit and enjoy seafood from the many local seafood places. It’s about a 10 minute from Oedo Tsukijishijo station. We took the train from Shinjuku station. Worth a train trip.

The National Art Center Tokyo is a large, modern venue in Roppongi that showcases temporary exhibitions of both Japanese and international art. The building's unique facade contrasts with the surrounding architecture, embodying Kisho Kurokawa's architectural concepts of natural materials and adaptability to surroundings. With its wavy glass exterior, the museum spans 14,000 square meters and hosts works from renowned artists without maintaining a permanent collection.
Beautiful art exhibits & amazing architecture. Well-maintained and organized art center. Sadly, the library was closed when I visited but I was still able to enjoy my time. Lots of seating, clean restrooms. The Art Exhibit during my visit was free. There are restaurants inside that are available, but quite expensive and limited options. Overall, this Art Center is a definite must-see!
Bea S — Google review
The National Art Center, Tokyo is such a beautiful space — the architecture alone is worth the visit! We went for the Shinseisaku and Bulgari: Kaleidos — Colors, Cultures, and Crafts exhibitions, and both were incredible in their own ways. The Shinseisaku Exhibition had an amazing mix of contemporary Japanese art, each piece so expressive and full of life. The Bulgari: Kaleidos Exhibition, on the other hand, was pure elegance — stunning jewelry and timeless design everywhere you looked. Each exhibition has its own ticket, but it’s absolutely worth it for the experience and curation. We also stopped by the café featured in Kimi no Na wa, and it was just as beautiful as in the film — a calm, light-filled space floating in glass. The perfect spot to take a break and soak in the atmosphere. Everything was well organized, and the overall vibe was inspiring from start to finish. Definitely a must-visit in Tokyo, and I’d love to come back for future exhibitions!
Jane G — Google review
The National Art Center in Tokyo is an architectural masterpiece in itself. With its strikingly futuristic design and spacious, light-filled interiors, the building feels like a work of art. The natural light streaming through the massive glass curtain walls creates a warm, tranquil atmosphere that enhances the entire experience. One of the center’s unique features is that it does not have a permanent collection, meaning every visit offers a new and different exhibition. When I visited, a contemporary art exhibition was on display. Though the themes were complex, it offered fresh perspectives and left a lasting impression. The open layout, seating areas, and calming café inside the building also made it a perfect place to reflect and unwind after exploring the art. Even on a rainy day, it’s a great place to visit, as you can stay completely sheltered while enjoying the space. The building’s design has a near-futuristic vibe—so much so that it felt like a location straight out of a sci-fi film, perhaps even something from Star Wars. It reminded me of the kind of pavilion I imagined as a child when dreaming about the Osaka Expo I never got to attend. And even if you’re not there for a specific exhibit, just visiting to admire the architecture and enjoy a coffee at the café is satisfying in itself. Best of all, admission to the building is free. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking to enjoy art, architecture, and a peaceful escape from daily life.

Amazing museum in Tokyo. Various exhibits that each deserve their own full day of observation. Highly recommend breaking the day up between exhibits so you can fully absorb the art. I will definitely be visiting again!

It’s not essential to buy a ticket online as you can go in and buy ticket at any exhibition that you like. The architect inside itself is beautiful, and the atmosphere is great! I had some cake and tea at Salon de Thé ROND and it was delicious!! The coffee also appears in the movie “Your Name”. Highly recommend <33
Huong N — Google review
The National Art Center, Tokyo The architecture is absolutely stunning. Even if you don’t visit an exhibition, it’s a lovely place to relax at the café and soak in the unique atmosphere of Tokyo. I imagine it would feel even more charming on a rainy day. Highly recommended!

We came here near closing hours so we just explored the building. In-house cafes were almost closed too, but riding the glass elevators was nice for the sweeping view of the whole place.
Astrow T — Google review
Dropped by the National Art Center today. The exhibitions on display were more on the beginner side—felt a bit like student works—but the building itself more than made up for it. The architecture is stunning, with a spacious, immersive atmosphere that’s worth experiencing on its own. I’m planning to come back to try their French restaurant next time—it sits at a high vantage point with views that pair perfectly with a good meal.

Situated in the Mori Tower within Roppongi Hills Mall, Mori Art Museum offers a captivating experience for art enthusiasts. The museum's location on the 52nd and 53rd floors provides breathtaking views of Tokyo. Showcasing international contemporary artwork through rotating exhibitions, it boasts an impressive collection ranging from Middle Eastern art to cutting-edge video installations. Visitors can also enjoy the panoramic vistas of Tokyo while savoring a drink at the Mado Lounge as the city lights up at night.
One of the best museum exhibits I’ve seen in a long time. Every room was laid out so well and and made you want to go deeper. I learned a lot, left inspired and feel like I really got to be immersed in not just the architecture but the mind of the architect.

One of my more beloved art museums. Their exhibits rotate quite regularly, which is impressive. The artist selection is always at the forefront of modern art and looking into the future. So you will find a lot of topics relating to the digital and technology. Spaces are always well curated. Staff lovely and the entire museum seems very organised. Themed meals are super cute too.

The Mori Art Museum, located on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills, is a fantastic place to visit. I went on a Sunday morning and was pleasantly surprised - no lines at the ticket counter or entrance. The current exhibition focuses on the work and vision of Sou Fujimoto. The first gallery showcases an impressive array of architectural models, crafted from a variety of materials and styles, creating a visually stunning display. It's a remarkable exhibition—highly recommended !!!
Gaby G — Google review
A very nice, high-end museum on the 52nd floor, so the views alone are spectacular. You can also book a combined ticket for the museum and the rooftop platform - though it was closed during my visit. Still, the museum itself is well worth seeing, and several rooms offer stunning city views. I checked out the Fujimoto exhibition. I struggled a bit to follow the “red thread” through the show, but it was still engaging. The museum’s setting provided a beautiful frame for the exhibition.

The Mori Art Museum (MAM) is a contemporary art museum on the 53rd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower in Tokyo. It is currently showing the exhibition "The Architecture of Sou Fujimoto: Primordial Future Forest" If you are interested in city design, buliding and architecture. There are lot of miniature models and old scratches. It is worth to visit, if not then save your entrance fee. The staffs are helpful and guild you in and out.

Caught the AI/digital exhibition while I was there, surprisingly thoughtful and well put together. The curation balanced tech and concept nicely, without tipping too far into gimmick. Finishing with that sweeping city view never gets old. Always a bit of a mixed bag here depending on the exhibitions, but when it hits, it really works. 🤌🏼

Tsukishima Monja Street is a food lover's paradise, offering a wide array of battered and griddled monjayaki pancakes with various toppings. This area is renowned as the birthplace of monjayaki, a beloved local dish in Tokyo. With over 70 restaurants to choose from, visitors can indulge in this unique dining experience where they can cook their own monjayaki on hot plates at their tables.
❇️ Tsuki-shima Island. 🟧Very interesting. ************************************** ● We saw school kids about 7 to 8 years old coming home to Tsukishima island alone - unaccompanied by parents. They are so highly independent. ✅️Amazing. ●Tsuki-shima island. Japan has a lot of strange and interesting places along with interesting eats. This is one of the interesting eats and interesting places. There are approximately 80 restaurants along the street and they serve a sort of pancake type dish that's fried on the table in front of you or you fry it on the table in front of you. The first time I suggest you ask the restaurant staff to help you out but after that, once you know how to do it and what it's all about then have fun. A friend of mine told me to make sure I hit this street and try the dish/experience. Indeed, it was interesting. Personally, I would suggest you skip the Monja dish.....go to the slightly thicker dish that is very similar. The dishes are usually something like shredded cabbage with a protein and a batter that is fried on a cook surface on the table top. It's still an experience one way or the other and I'm not sure how to rate this. It is not Gourmet dining but as an experience, high four star seems appropriate but definitely try one of the restaurants on the street

Now, if you are stating in Ginza and have a craving for Monja - head here on the bus! Charming street filled with about 80 places to eat - the smells will lead you to the one that is right for you! Yes, you have to make your own dinner - but that's the fun of it, right? Careful - some shops have smoking permitted.

We made a stop here to try monjayaki for the first time before heading to kidzania. Chose to dine at Daruma Monjayaki shop just opposite the Monja street information center. You can always get a guide map from the information center as they have a list of all the shops along the street or make a reservation online before hand. We were short on time so we chose whichever was closest but it was nothing short on experience. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful with ordering. They’ll cook for you on the spot so you can just sit back and relax. Was surprised at the side of it and wondered how can my daughter and me finish it but we managed to finished every bit of it! Will be back again on our next trip to explore more!
Jasmine — Google review
It’s a unique and cool sight to see so many restaurants in close proximity, all competing with the exact same food. No guarantee you can get into any single one, but walk around and you’re sure to find a shop without too much of a wait where you can get some authentic monjayaki.
Jacob N — Google review
Too quiet as a tourist street. 20% of the shops are still closed (probably due to COVID). Very few people walking down and /or eating there. However just before I left, look whom I bumped into! I met the symbol of this island! What a luck!
Flying Q — Google review
Revisiting Tsukishima after five long years has been like flipping through the pages of a cherished photo album, where each memory is a savory delight. The process of cooking Monjayaki is almost ceremonial: you start by artistically arranging a circle of crisp cabbage and your choice of toppings on the hot griddle, a mosaic of colors and textures awaiting transformation. The 'Monja' mixture, a medley of flour, water, and dashi, is then ceremoniously poured into the heart of the cabbage ring. The trick to achieving that perfectly gooey consistency lies in the patience of letting it simmer and blend with the medley of ingredients, stirring with tender care until it reaches the desired thickness. For a nostalgic culinary journey, the ‘Ebi' (shrimp) Monjayaki is a must-try, with its succulent seafood melding into the savory batter, while the 'Cheese' Monjayaki offers a gooey, stretchy experience that pulls at both the heartstrings and chopsticks. And as for Okonomiyaki, the classic 'Buta' (pork) is a timeless choice, with layers of tender meat and batter topped with a dance of bonito flakes, a performance of flavors and textures that's as much a feast for the eyes as for the palate. Eating at Tsukishima is not just a meal; it's a hands-on dive into the culinary arts, a place where every sizzle on the griddle marks the rhythm of a city that's alive with flavor and history. So here's a tip for the perfect Monjayaki: let the ingredients tell their story on the griddle, guiding them gently, and they will reward you with a taste of Tokyo's soul.

The State Guest House Akasaka Palace, also known as Geihinkan, has a rich history dating back to 1909 when it was originally built as the Crown Princes Palace. This elegant Western-style building in the Neo-Baroque style is Japan's only one of its kind and holds significant cultural value as a designated National Treasure. Today, it serves as an official facility for welcoming dignitaries from around the world and plays a key role in Japanese diplomacy.
Akasaka Palace is a nice 2-hour visit, with adult tickets at 1500 Yen and children at 500 Yen, just a 5-minute walk from Yotsuya Station. Photography inside is not allowed, and if you bring a water bottle, you must drink from it to prove it’s not toxic before entering. The security is more thorough than at airports. While the interior of the palace is interesting, the backyard garden with its beautiful fountain and stunning Japanese landscape was the highlight. It’s not a must-visit in Tokyo, but a great place to enjoy the history, architecture, and serene surroundings.
NG B — Google review
The palace is still in use as State Guest House hosting reception events for world leaders visiting Japan. The architecture and interior design are very westernized but with a lot of Japanese subtleties engraved. We got audio guide to better understand what to look into for each room in the palace. The tour to visit Japanese Annex requires advanced reservation. The garden outside the building has a nice fountain. It's very worthy visiting and way less crowded than most tourist attractions in Tokyo

The monumental splendid guest house is well conserved and open to the public for a visit and you can enjoy afternoon tea here as well. I am impressed by the interior design and intricate stone cravings. The arrangement of the visiting route is smooth and the staff and volunteers are so helpful and willing to share the history and their experience. NO PHOTOS TAKING INSIDE. The picturesque and serene garden is well-maintained and a perfect retreat from the busy city life. I had an enjoyable afternoon here. Highly recommended ✨

I had an excellent experience here and I highly recommend taking the guided tour at the Japanese Garden as well as visiting the Main Building! The architecture and the arts were stellar - so many things to learn and delight. The guided tour requires advanced reservation though. I wish they offered more hours options instead of just 2 on weekend for English speakers. Also, staff members were polite and courteous. Although security was strict, they made us feel at ease. I would definitely return to enjoy my time here.

📍Asakasa Palace, State Guest House ¥1500 entry fee adult It was awesome! Photos/videos not allowed inside, but it’s cool coz you get to focus on the intricate details, the vastness of each room, high ceilings, pristine white walls and gold trimmings. We had fun exploring each room. Outside, you can film around the property and the grand fountain. There were tables and chairs in the front lawn during our visit. You can bring bottled water, and they’d make you take a sip/drink from it before allowing it in. No food allowed. Some groups were in a guided tour, but we just came on our own.
Astrow T — Google review
Prepare to be transported back in time to the early 1900s when you step inside. Be warned, there is a lot of security and cameras here as it is a national treasure and is used for political meetings. As with the recent incidents of ill mannered foreign tourists I understand the precautions. The guesthouse architecture is amazing to see, honestly I enjoyed being in there and the gardens more than the palace. No pictures allowed of the interiors of the buildings.
Tadius M — Google review
Unbelievably breathtaking. This palace was built based on both Versailles and Buckingham Palace as a model. The front indeed resembles the former the rear, with fountain, the later. You can’t take photos inside but it’s beautiful with marble from Italy, artwork from France. It’s now the guesthouse for foreign dignitaries and was used for the G7. Highly recommended
Alun E — Google review
It was my first time here and I was left in awe after my visit! They don't allow smartphones and/or photos inside the building which makes sense. I hope they leave it that way as it adds to the mystery and charm of the place. The architecture and overall design was heavily European-inspired. It felt like a version of the 'Palace of Versailles' in Asia. Wished there were more information guides available in different languages. I went with my brother and he is pretty fluent in Japanese so we could ask questions but if you do not know any Japanese and is very curious, it might be a challenge. I also got a free postcard after I answered a short survey as a foreigner. 🙂

Nestled on the 40th floor of the iconic World Trade Center Building, Seaside Top Observatory offers breathtaking 360-degree views that are simply unforgettable. This scenic observation deck is conveniently connected to JR Hamamatsu-cho Station, making it easily accessible year-round. Visitors can marvel at stunning sights like the majestic Tokyo Tower and even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji on clear days.
Amazing views from the seaside and Tokio tower. Surprisingly it was almost empty when we visited it. There are plenty of tables and sofas to sit down and enjoy the view. Sadly there is no bar at the top, only a vending machine, i would recomend going with some snacks to sit and have a relaxed time with the cityscape as a background.
Hernán M — Google review
We visited this observatory on top of the World Trade Centre for a bird’s eye view of the Tokyo Tower. Turns out the panoramic view we expected was not to be as an adjacent building almost denied us any view of the iconic tower at all. Thus, a small crowd was camping at a corner of the observatory that offers the best view of the tower. That said, the observatory was decked out with comfy chairs, tables and light music so it was a really good place to chill. Barring the obtrusive building on its south side, the views of the city on the other 3 directions were great and watching the trains go by every few minutes was pretty fun. At a height of 152m, this observatory is way lower than the skytree but that’s actually not a bad thing as we are able observe the ground level more easily.

Great place to stop by and take elevator to top observatory. The entrance to elevators are a little hidden within the building they call the aworld Trade Center. When you get to the top, there is seating along the windows around the whole bldg. Best to head up there for sunset. In one corner you can peer directly down in zōjōji temples while the Tokyo tower standing boldly above it. On other corner you can see the railway system as well as a garden park nearby and boats in the bay.

A relatively cheap (600 yen) view of Tokyo from atop the World Trade Centre building. You can get a nice view of Tokyo Tower and some of the Odaiba area.

Great observation deck with a fair price. Best moment to go : during the sunset. Or during a shinny day. Great place to spend time, drink coffee and relax.

Very cool observatory. The view may not be the best but I’ve never seen another observatory with this much seating and a lounge vibe. Not busy during the day either. Only ¥500 admission, 20% off for AAA/JAF members. Overlooks the harbor and the Rainbow Bridge.

Nice view @ a cheaper price then Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree. More relaxing environment and not as crowded
Jesse L — Google review
Very good view at Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Bay(Rainbow Bridge), not so crowded as other observatories(Shibuya Sky, Mori building) 600 yen is a very good Price for that view

Daiba Park, located on the historic Odaiba Island, offers a serene escape with views of Tokyo Bay, Rainbow Bridge, and stunning sunsets. Originally built as a defensive fort to protect Tokyo Bay, remnants of its military past can still be seen in the park. Visitors can explore the old gun battery and ammunition storehouses while enjoying a leisurely stroll through the tranquil surroundings. The park's proximity to Rainbow Bridge makes it an ideal spot for capturing picturesque photos of this iconic landmark.
Some people will find this a long walk round from the Malls, especially in the heat of a blazing summers day. However, you can find shelter along the road, rather than along the beach front where there is no shade at all. A brolly would definitely be beneficial. The park is where the remains of a couple of canons are located. Good view of the Rainbow bridge here.

Loved having a promenade in Daiba park, it was very enjoyable. Quite a big park, the view is stunning of the bridge, sea water and city. Very nice sitting areas with the view, some bending s machine available around, and coffeeshop not too far around to grab something and get to sit picnic and relax there . Would definitely come back to Daiba park 🏞️

Small park with a beautiful view on the city and the nearby bridge The park is just a short walk away from the beach and usually only sparingly visited. The nature in the park itself has grown without much human intervention but there is a nice artificial green space in the center. The main reason however to visit the park is due to it providing a perfect place to get a good view on the surrounding area and the nearby bridge.

Daiba Park is a quiet park located in the north side of Daiba. It is far away from the nearest train station (Odaiba-kaihinkōen Station) and takes around 10-15 mins to walk from the station to this park. The park has a relaxing atmosphere and it is perfect to have a morning walk. As it is located right next to Rainbow Bridge, it is also one of the best positions to take photos of the bridge. If you like historical sites, you can find Gun battery and explosives storage inside this park. You can also see a line of Sakura from the bird’s island (鳥の島) in spring.
Javin Y — Google review
First shot was taken on the edge of Daiba Park almost directly under the Rainbow Bridge. Tokyo Tower, a lattice tower whose design was inspired by the Eiffel Tower, is the 2nd largest tallest structure at 332.9 meters (1,092 ft). A beautiful symbol of Tokyo that has been around since 1958. The second shot was taken from the beach looking towards the shoreline. Tokyo Rainbow Bridge connects Minato Ward, Tokyo with the Odaiba waterfront development district—a man-made island sitting in the middle of Tokyo Bay. The bridge uses solar panels during the day to “paint” the bridge in red, white, and green every night. The sun had just risen at the time this shot was taken. Streaks of light were able to break through the clouds and shine on the high-rise apartment building in the distance. The third shot, taken during blue hour, is of Tokyo Tower as viewed from Daiba Park, part of the waterfront development district—a man-made island sitting in the middle of Tokyo Bay. The fourth shot is a view of Rainbow Bridge from Daiba Park. The park is actually an island that was built in 1854 as one of several batteries built for coastal defenses after the arrival of USN Commodore Perry in 1853. Remnants of stone cannon pedestals, ammunition storehouses, and barracks can still be seen at the park. Check out my Pix4Japan YouTube channel for the video I took of the waterfront areas of this destination!

Great little island park just near odaiba - There is not many people here which is good if you want to escape from the jungle of people that is Tokyo. You can walk from odaiba station or if you come by car there is parking near by. There are no lights at the park so at night it's dark.

Very nice and secluded location for photographers. Loved every minute I was there. Air was clean and the scenery was breathtaking. I spent 3 hours there taking photos of the rainbow bridge. Will visit again in spring or winter.

A fantastic place for taking stunning photographs especially during sunset. The Liberty Statue, the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Bay were a mix making a perfect picture. Strolling around the park leisurely. Jogging and even meditating would be nice activities.

Restaurant
L’Effervescence is a renowned two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Japan, currently ranked 26th on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list. Chef Shinobu Namae combines French culinary techniques with fresh Japanese ingredients to create inventive dishes with philosophical titles reflecting his commitment to nature and the environment.
L’Effervescence is an extraordinary dining experience! This three-Michelin-starred restaurant masterfully blends Japanese precision with French elegance, creating dishes that are both innovative and deeply rooted in seasonal flavors. Every course is a testament to the chef’s artistry, showcasing beautifully composed plates with the finest farm-to-table ingredients. The flavors are delicate yet bold, with a perfect balance of tradition and modern creativity. The service is impeccable—gracious, knowledgeable, and perfectly attentive without being intrusive. From start to finish, L’Effervescence delivers a truly unforgettable culinary journey. A must-visit for anyone seeking world-class dining in Tokyo!

First time at a 3-star restaurant. The service and ambiance was top tier, as expected. The staff was beyond welcoming and kind, not just polite but making sure they could do anything to enhance our dinner experience. Restaurant was dark but there was a moderate spotlight at each table to ensure good visibility. The courses were all good, the duck and grouper were my favorites, as was the dessert, but all in all, a fantastic dining experience.
Ghazanfar A — Google review
We had a wonderful experience at L’Effervescence, the restaurant. Every bite was like a flavor explosion that took us to a whole new level. As we stepped into the restaurant, we were immediately enveloped in a sense of hushed elegance, where the lighting was soft and the minimalist design made the whole experience feel like a retreat from the chaos of the city. The chef’s passion and creativity shone through in every dish, and you could taste the love and care that went into each one. The outstanding dishes that stood out the most were: Salad > Chapter II: Harvest Journey This was truly a masterpiece. With 62 types of ingredients, each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures. The freshness and crispness of the ingredients shone through, and the way each component complemented the others was nothing short of divine. Fish > Chapter IV: Across the Ocean A masterpiece! The super-chilled, aged grouper was marinated to perfection and grilled to bring out its tender texture. The Japanese spiny lobster Américaine sauce added a rich, creamy element, while the parsnip purée, pickled celeriac, and chrysanthemum flowers added a delightful contrast of textures and flavors. The lemongrass oil brought everything together beautifully. What truly stood out was the freshness and oceanic flavor that came through in every bite. The fish had a tender yet satisfying texture that made each mouthful a delight — a truly outstanding dish that showcases the chef’s skill and creativity. Duck > Chapter V: Catching Fire The other standout dish was the wood-fired Kyoto duck breast, served with a rich red wine sauce and sautéed red onion in white wine sauce. The duck breast was cooked to perfection, tender, medium-rare, and melt-in-your-mouth. The skin was crispy yet delicate, without being too crunchy or soft. It was a masterclass in texture and flavor , simply wonderfully tender. Every element was individually distinct, yet harmonized beautifully, creating a truly unforgettable culinary experience.

Highlight of our Japan trip. From start to finish, in terms of food, it was phenomenal. Every course was so tasty in its own ways. Loved all of them, but my personal favorite was the 63 ingredient salad course and the grouper course. Service was friendly and fun, but yet professional and formal. The som helped us picked a great bottle of orange wine. The tea ceremony at the end of the meal was also very poetic. Definitely will come back again!!

Easily one of top 3 stars restaurant i've ever eaten ( i have been a fan of them since they was 1 star back then in 2019). The service, ambience, curated japanese local ingredients and food execution was on another level.

L’Effervescence is a Michelin 3-star French restaurant in Nishiazabu, Tokyo. Hidden quietly next to a temple, the restaurant looks like a modern mansion. The contemporary design of the dimly lit main dining room is serene and elegant. Servers are professional, attentive, and welcoming. Yuki-san and Takumi-kun are especially helpful and accommodating. Online reservation is straightforward. There is only one omakase menu for dinner (JPY 36,000/person), which is mainly composed of seafood, meat and produce from Japan. The evolutionary Japanese-French cuisine is delicious and full of surprises! The Kyoto Nanatani Duck Breast main dish and the Duck Thigh Ravioli simply rock your palate. Who would think of combining 56 kinds of Japanese vegetables and fruits to make a salad dish?! Mixing your own “Matcha Latte” in your mouth is the definition of evolutionary for sure! Even the final cup of drip coffee does not disappoint!
XO H — Google review
Everything was perfect. Nothing extravagant. No caviar, no foie gras. The chef used all Japanese (organic) ingredients, even their olive oil, cheese and wine. I can really feel the chef deeply respects Japanese farmers. Every dish is made from simple food combinations yet it tasted complex. Service was superb. The servers were friendly, one of them knew I went to volunteer at a japanese organic farm, and he recommended a farmer's market in Tokyo for me to visit. The restaurant work culture must be very nice too as they even showed me pictures of the restuarant staffs visiting farms to pick fruits, and holding kelp harvest workshops. They even publish a sustainability report for the restaurant. They even give out souvenirs for us to choose, which are all local produces the restaurant uses. The experience is very worth the price, I would def save money to dine again when I visit Tokyo
Melody F — Google review
The service was excellent, and the restaurant was very accommodating of my girlfriend’s vegan dietary needs, which we really appreciated. The first three courses were fantastic, with some dishes being finished or prepared right at the table, adding an interactive and enjoyable touch. However, the remaining courses were unfortunately underwhelming. While there are many things the restaurant does well—especially the attentive service and creativity in the opening courses—for a 3 Michelin star restaurant, we had hoped for a higher level of consistency throughout the entire meal.

Premium Sake Pub Gashue in Ueno is a hidden gem for sake enthusiasts and those looking to learn more about Japanese sake. The bar offers a wide selection of sake from all over Japan, allowing guests to sample different types and even try cold and warm varieties. The relaxing space is designed to reflect the sacred role of sake in Shinto ceremonies, providing an ideal setting to unwind and meet new friends.
What can’t I say about this place. The owner is so passionate about Sake that you can’t help but be entranced. The selection of sake is amazing and he goes into such detail that you can’t help but become a fan of sake. Their selection of food is also fantastic to pair with the drinks. This is a must visit if you’re even mildly interested in sake or drinking in general. The restaurant vibes are great as well! Can’t wait to visit again!

We had a fantastic sake tasting experience at Premium Sake Pub Gashue. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, and the owner was a gracious host who spoke perfect English, which made everything so much easier for us. We learned a lot about sake, sampled several unique varieties, and loved the thoughtfully paired appetizers. The selection is extensive, and the atmosphere is welcoming. We’re so glad we spent an evening here—and we’ll definitely be back!

If you're planning to try sake tasting in Tokyo, there's no better place to immerse yourself than Premium Sake Pub Gashue in Ueno. We opted for the sake flight paired with food, and it turned into an incredibly rich and memorable experience. The owner personally guided us through the tasting, sharing a deep wealth of knowledge about sake. He introduced us to a wide range of styles—from traditional to non-traditional, including aged varieties—and explained how temperature can dramatically change the flavor and texture. We learned how to appreciate the subtle combinations of aromas and mouthfeel that make each sake unique. What began as a tasting flight quickly expanded into an exploration of 11 different types of sake. The 90 minutes flew by, and we left not only delighted by the flavors but also with a newfound appreciation for sake’s complexity and versatility. If you're in Tokyo, don’t miss this hidden gem. Gashue isn’t just a place to taste sake—it’s a place to truly understand and fall in love with it. An unforgettable experience.

We had an excellent time at the pub having the Sake Tasting Experience with Sake Chris. As two novices to Sake, Chris took us through the history of Sake, the process for making it and understanding the various grades, all whilst providing us with 7 different Sakes alongside a food pairing prepared by the Pub. The experience lasted around 2 hours and was great value for money, we would absolutely recommend to everyone! Chris’ expertise and passion for Sake comes through loud and clear, and we have a newfound passion for Sake as a result! The variety of tastes and the precision of the food pairing was excellent and clearly showed the time he had put into the course and the great relationship he has with the Pub. Following the Sake tasting, which was in a private area, we were treated to some extra Sake from the owner on the house. He was very welcoming, we look forward to coming back to the pub for a few drinks and some food again.

Fantastic little gem. I generally don't like hard liquor but this changed me into a sake lover. The place is small and cozy. The owner, who speaks English very well, will take you through a sake journey, very informative, entertaining and at a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and the service is top notch. Only criticism I have is the giant TV that I think they should get rid of, it distracts ftom the atmosphere. Invest in making it more cozy I think. We actually ended up coming here twice, bringing some of our friends the second time around. I highly recommend visiting the pub and doing the sake flight. Chances are very high that this will be one of the highlights of your .trip

Incredibly fortunate to have found this phenomenal yet unpretentious little sake gastropub in Roppongi. Had a guided sake pairing dinner with an extremely knowledgeable expat (Chris Hughes) who showed us the range and depth of a variety of Japanese sakes. Food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommended.

Very informative and fun place to learn about Sake. The host Keku-san was so friendly and explained everything. Pizza restaurant
The Pizza Bar On 38th, located inside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Nihonbashi, has gained recognition for its unique approach to pizza-making. With a focus on creating an intimate and personal dining experience akin to sushi or kaiseki, the pizzeria offers elevated pies with distinctive bases made from a special dough ratio and fermented for two days. This results in exceptionally crisp and airy crusts that set it apart from traditional Neapolitan pizzerias in Tokyo.
This was my second visit to Pizza on 38th, and since my last visit the menu has changed to an Omakase format. Initially, I had some reservations about this, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and creativity of the menu. The chefs noted my dietary requirements and accommodated them thoughtfully by substituting ingredients while still providing high quality, locally sourced proteins. The chefs were extremely knowledgeable and prepared some of the best pizzas I have ever tasted. Each course was presented with care and precision. The difference in quality is evident. The flavours are vibrant and the freshness of the ingredients truly elevates the entire experience. I look forward to returning on my next visit.

We were lucky to get a pizza omakase reservation for lunch on our next to last day in Tokyo and it was an overall really great experience. Some people might be divided on whether this is worth the money because it’s just “pizza” but really that’s just simplifying the meal too much. Yes, it is multiple courses of pizza but the ingredients are the highest quality, uncommon and generally the flavor combinations are going to be different than any other pizza you’ve likely had before. I only deducted a star because I feel not every pizza course completely landed with me although most did. Plus, with their farm to table approach, the menu rotates every month and a half so I think definitely worth trying in at least two seasons of the year to see how it compares.
Michelle P — Google review
I wasn’t too sure what to expect especially after the sort of price I paid for this for 2 people. I have to say I very impressed after it. I enjoyed the whole selection of pizzas. The dessert I got was only ok though. I’m also not a big wine drinker so I asked for the cocktail menu, but there was only 3 options on it. I can’t remember what I ordered but it was tasty. I expected the main chef Daniele to make at least one of the courses, but all the pizzas were made by the sous chefs. Both sous chefs were very good so I can’t complain, just would have been nice to get a bit more time with main chef because that’s who I saw on all the social media post. Very happy over all.

I finally had the chance to dine at The Pizza Bar on 38th, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. This restaurant is extremely difficult to reserve, but the effort is more than worth it once you’re seated at the counter. The Pizza Omakase was a truly outstanding experience—the craftsmanship, creativity, and quality of ingredients were exceptional. Each course felt carefully curated, with flavors that were bold yet refined, and the balance of textures and toppings showed real artistry. It’s not just pizza, it’s a world-class culinary experience. The setting is intimate, service is impeccable, and watching the chefs prepare the pizzas right in front of you adds to the excitement. Without a doubt, this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Tokyo. If you’re lucky enough to secure a reservation, it’s an absolute must-try.

What a wonderful experience! My husband and I are from NY and enjoy Brooklyn pizza, but this Omakase style pizza course was spectacular. Just 8 customers including us (with my sister) were at the counter with two chefs and one assistant, and it was nice at-home setting. Course was including appetizers, 6 different kinds of pizza that shared, and dessert. The ingredients were from farms across Japan and Italy as fresh they were. Chefs made fresh pizzas in in front of us and stove baked right away. My favorite one was tuna with fig. The flavor was amazing as combination of two ingredients. Fantastic crews and entertainment with excellent foods. They were also very considerate and accommodating to food allergies if any. My sister has allergies from certain fruits and chefs were replacing with alternative only for her plate! (thank you!!) Omakase menu changes monthly as seasonal fresh ingredients. I highly recommend to anyone who loves and enjoys pizza.
Masae S — Google review
Visit 04.2025 Given the top pizza world rankings it holds, it was personally a disappointment. I will try to be objective. The price is just not worth the whole experience. The place is on the 38th floor of a fancy hotel, the ingredients I’m sure are top notch including Wagyu and truffle, but for 22,000 yen the taste profile is disappointing. For context I love pizza, and have had many American and Neapolitan styles and during a previous trip to Japan was mind blown by Pizza Strada, another top rated pizza restaurant in Tokyo. The course was an appetizer, 8 slices of pizza, and dessert. The style is not Japanese (soft thin crust). The dough is crunchy/hard, and they put way too much ingredients on each slice, with the taste having an identity crisis. I wasn’t sure what I was tasting and there was no harmony. They pride themselves in a specially prepared dough which I didn’t find that flavorful. The best slice for me was the margherita where the taste was simple and straightforward. This was a classic example of breaking the wallet for the fame and high end ingredients without the taste to back it up. If you want to cross off a top ranked pizza restaurant on your bucket list, go for it. If you want an honest good tasting pizza meal without breaking the bank, definite skip. I’ve enjoyed pizzas more at local joints that are 1/10 the price. I feel the taste is more for western people (I’m from Canada) than Asians and Japanese. Again if you want an idea of simple peak-tasting pizza, Pizza Strada is a great example.
Yang H — Google review
An experience to be remembered. I got very lucky on the wait list and recommend everybody else try when they are in Tokyo. It’s definitely an experience not to pass on. The pizzas were perfection. Quality and respect to the ingredients are evident. Will Definitely try to make this happen again

Gen Yamamoto is a unique cocktail bar in Azabu-Juban, offering an intimate omakase-style experience with one man tending to eight seats. The menu features meticulously crafted cocktails made from locally sourced fruits and vegetables, such as hassaku citrus paired with Marc de Champagne and kiwi with soju and matcha. Each drink is stirred and measured by eye, then served in exquisite glassware alongside carefully selected flowers.
Amazing experience well worth the time. If you love cocktails this is like the top tier sushi bar equivalent where everything is hand crafted in front of you with the same level of skill and care. Great to experience with up to 8 people.

This place might not be for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. And reservation was easy, even though I live in Europe. If you want traditional cocktails - this isn't a place for you. But if you are looking for something new and special - you should definitely visit Gen Yamamoto. The cocktails were great, albeit unorthodox, and the barman was nice and professional. At first, I wanted to try 4-5 cocktails. But every drink was something special and every time I heard the ingredients I couldn't believe that this drink would taste good. But every time I was proven wrong. So I decided to go until the end - to the 7th cocktail. And it was the best of them all. Just some of the ingredients that were used: mashed potatoes, wasabi with pineapple, garlic brandy. One of the best drinking experiences in my life.
Felix M — Google review
Gen Yamamoto was a very unique cocktail experience. You have the option of choosing 4, 5 or 7 courses. 7 is a cool 10,000 yen. Yamamoto-san speaks English quite well and provides a course by course description similar to dishes being brought out from the kitchen at a Michelin restaurant. Every cocktail is prepared in plain sight as you would see at an omakase sushi restaurant. Nearly every cocktail is a blend of fruit or vegetables and one spirit. Yamamoto-san used Finnish whiskey in two of the cocktails, as well as sochu and brandy. My favorite was the tomato, lemon juice and whiskey blend. The smoky whiskey and fresh tomato juice complimented each other harmoniously. I’m trying to recreate it at home and the tomato jam seems to be the one missing element. You need to make a reservation over the phone starting from a week out. I asked my hotel concierge to call but Yamamoto-san requested to speak with my directly since he speaks English. There were two tourists from China and one from New York. Neither party stayed for all 7 courses, so I was the last one there. I will say that some of the reviews complaining about the lack of spirits used are valid. Yamamoto-san uses less than a shot of alcohol per cocktail so you end up getting more fruit and vegetable juice than a bonafide cocktail. That said, I still enjoyed the creativity behind each cocktail and left inspired but still needing more drinks. So I wandered into the neighborhood to find Bar Melt, which is a new bar with patrons smoking houkas but quality cocktails that have considerably more alcohol in them. Bar Centifolia is less than a block away from Bar Yamamoto but was closed that night. Tokyo Confidential is also very close by. Here are my tasting notes in the order that they were served: 1 - Yuzu and Sochu 2 - Strawberries and Daikon / Sochu 3 - Kiwi/Marc Grappier Brandy made from Pinot noir 4 - Soy Milk / Fava Beans / Palo Single Malt Whiskey from Finland 5 - Pineapple / Japanese Whiskey 6 - 🍅 Tomato/Lemon/Tomato Jam/ Benromach Whiskey 7 - Quince / Wasabi / Kyro Finnish whiskey

Gen Yamamoto is one of my favorite bars in Tokyo. It’s not your typical bar—you won’t find a Negroni or an Old Fashioned here. Instead, the experience is curated through a tasting menu of 4, 6, or 7 cocktails, each crafted with seasonal ingredients and a special selection of spirits. Every glass is a piece of art. The cocktails are delicate, precise, and thoughtful—you won’t get drunk here, but you’ll leave with a lasting impression. I recently visited and had a brief chat with Yamamoto-san, who told me the bar has now been around for 12 years. I don’t even remember when I first visited, but every time I return, it feels just as special. His glassware and ceramic cups are always stunning, and though I’ve always been curious about what happens to the old cups when he changes the menu, he never sells them. My favorite cocktails are always the ones with tomato. Typically, when you ask for a tomato-based cocktail, you get something resembling a Bloody Mary—but not here. Yamamoto’s tomato cocktails are unlike anything else, layered with such unique and unexpected flavors. The menu evolves with the seasons—summer brings brighter, more acidic drinks, while winter offers starchier, even warm cocktails. Every visit is a surprise, and every time I bring someone new, it becomes a one-of-a-kind memory for their trip. Even after 12 years, Yamamoto-san hasn’t lost his touch. His craft hasn’t declined—in fact, he continues to create and innovate, making each visit as special as the last. If you're looking for a cocktail experience that goes beyond just drinking, this is the place. Don't expect to get drunk. This is not a place for alcoholic beverages. Always make a reservation.

I wish I knew in advance how bad the place is, so I would not waste my time calling for a reservation but also pay all this money for juice served as a shot! Nice atmosphere, but these is not an alcohol tasting experience! There are way better bars in Japan!!!! BIG NO from me!!

Well crafted cocktails made with seasonal ingredients and the utmost care. You can choose 4-7 cocktails (don’t worry, all of them are quite small) husband and I each had 6 and honestly could have done 7. Everything we had was delicious and interesting. Gen Yamamoto takes great pride in what he does and it shows. While stoic and serious about his craft, he is also welcoming and is happy to answer any questions you have. Highly recommend that you make a reservation here for a unique omakase cocktail experience. FYI no food, just cocktails. My only complaint was that it was very quiet. Could have used some music.

A minimalistic experience with a host that makes you feel right at home. The drinks were simple and seasonal. They had between 2-3 ingredients. So each flavour was clear and easy to recognize. We went with 6 drinks and I only disliked one of them. The rest were really great. The atmosphere was relaxed and Gen was kind and welcoming. It is a great drink omakase experience.

I will never forget the kindness and humility of a person who is so capable of treating his ingredients with so much care and attention. Calling his beverages “juice” would be like calling miso soup “soybean water” — such reviewers have missed the idea. A week later I am still stuck by how understated such a special environment was.

Sky Lounge Stellar Garden is a top-floor lounge located at the Prince Park Tower hotel in Tokyo. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of Tokyo Tower and the cityscape, especially stunning when illuminated at night. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea, cocktails made with seasonal ingredients, and a selection of wines while taking in the iconic landmark. The lounge features "pair seats" by the windows for uninterrupted views of Tokyo's celebrated symbol.
I love places with a view, and Sky Lounge Stellar Garden on the 33rd floor in Tokyo is truly spectacular. The breathtaking panorama of the city, with Tokyo Tower glowing in the distance, creates an unforgettable atmosphere. The drinks were nicely made, the food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. Everything was spotless, making it the perfect place to relax and soak in the beauty of Tokyo. A must visit for anyone who enjoys great views, good vibes, and an elevated experience!

Absolutely amazing views of Tokyo Tower at night — truly one of the best vantage points in the city. The atmosphere is elegant and perfect for a special evening out. It’s quite difficult to secure a reservation, but once you’re there, you’ll see it’s absolutely worth the effort. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a sophisticated night with breathtaking scenery.

Great atmosphere, very spacious. Its on the 33rd floor of the Prince Park Tower Hotel. Pricing: Seats at the bar are for free. Seats on the second row cost 2000 yen per person. Window seats are 3000 yen per person. Cocktail prices range from 2000 yen to 3000 yen. It can get pretty busy in the evening, also on week days. On the weekend there might be a waiting time, so its recommended to make a reservation. Night view is amazing. Service is great and absolutely professional.
Deniz G — Google review
This is a place for drinking and quiet talking at night. A 2000 yen table charge per person is applied to seats in no-window zone, otherwise 3000 yen will be charged. Changes of seating zone is not allowed. Walking around in the lounge to take pictures of the Tokyo Tower is not allowed, either. This is definitely not a good place to take pictures for Tokyo Tower because the grids of the windows will cut the tower into half, at least. Price of drinks is higher than other lounges.
The L — Google review
Great atmosphere at this place. The prices is however higher than usual. We took the tower drinks which were great, but also a mojito which tasted very flat and watery, we thought something must be wrong with them and decided not to drink them and asked for something else. With the language barrier we managed to what it looks like get them off the bil and order instead two glasses of sparking wine, when paying we still had to pay for the Mojito's and I didn't bother anymore with correcting it. As a tip, don't wait for the front seats, it's a great view in the back also.
David O — Google review
Amazing view but unfortunately only suitable for locals as they have no international attitude at all. Not allowed to walk around in the bar, not allowed to stand beside your friends at the bar, laughing is somehow forbidden too I guess. Beautiful but very complicated and boring. Excessive politeness is not a key to success
Jan I — Google review
All the negative reviews almost made me cancel my reservation but I am so glad I didn’t. The view is beautiful, the service we received was really amazing, and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. We received a discount by signing up for the prince seibu club (free sign up - so worth it!) we had a set menu with an app, main, and dessert, it was all you can drink in the 2 hour seating limit. This alone made it well worth it!
Jo J — Google review
I booked twilight plan with Seibu member discount (11,000++) discounted about 4,000Yen. Register before you pay! It worth! At first i thought it's toooooooo expensive for the plan but end up it worth my money. I keep drinking many alcohol for 2 hours. The plan also comes with food. Appetizer, sandwich/2 small side dishes , dessert. I really enjoy it with close-up view of Tokyo tower. And for the service, maybe i was lucky i met with a good waitress.

Sushi restaurant
Sushi Yuu, located in Roppongi, Tokyo, offers a traditional sushi dining experience known for its extensive three-hour meal. The menu features a variety of dishes such as sake, sashimi, crab and uni rolls, fried ayu fish, and grilled octopus. The restaurant is conveniently situated near public transportation and allows bookings up to a month in advance. With only ten counter seats available, guests can enjoy watching Chef Daisuke meticulously prepare each course while engaging with them.
SushiYuu is an excellent choice for anyone looking to experience high-quality sushi in Tokyo (especially for foreigners). The entire staff is fluent in English, making the experience welcoming and accessible. They are also happy to answer any questions about the menu, ingredients, and preparation, which adds a great educational aspect to the meal. For those new to this level of sushi dining, this is a fantastic place to start. The chefs are not only skilled but also open to sharing their craft, making the experience engaging and memorable. I highly recommend reserving a spot in advance to ensure seating at the counter, where you can watch the sushi master prepare each piece with precision. The Omakase meal is 23,000 yen (excluding drinks), which is well worth it for the outstanding flavors and top-tier sushi quality. An unforgettable dining experience, highly recommended!
Malkiel C — Google review
So good I went twice! Daisuke is a wonderful sushi master and host. You’ll find that many people come here from word of mouth. Recommendations from other friends around the world. You can now add me to that list of advocates. This is an omakase restaurant so you’ll be served by Daisuke himself over multiple courses… who will make his way around the 12 seats or so. There are a couple of private rooms I believe, but the counter is where I’d recommend you sit. You’ll then get to interact with Daisuke and the other patrons. As for the food, all of it is fresh from that morning with every single piece and course being better than the last. The core items (like tuna) will remain the same but they will mix it up depending on what is fresh that day. The drinks menu is Japanese and thorough… no menu per se, so just ask. I had beer, whisky high ball and hot sake… all good! Price wise… it’s omakase so not cheap. With the number of courses, the quality and the service I’d still consider it great value. I’ll return when I’m next back in Tokyo!!!
Bobby S — Google review
From start to finish Daisuke delivers an outstanding experience. We learned about and tasted many different types of sushi and the dessert was delicious too. I will be sending all my friends to his restaurant for sure. Daisuke is the man!
George S — Google review
I went here during my Japan trip in April. The food was phenomenal, the explanations for each dish were lovely, the atmosphere of the place was great. I was able to make quite a few friends during this tasting as I was alone. I looked around for a while searching for a good omakase and I am beyond happy I chose this place, will definitely go back. The drinks were lovely and I loved trialing the different Tunas.
Tiarn — Google review
Spellbinding sushi experience! The food and atmosphere are exactly what you are looking for when you’re thinking about really good sushi. Daisuke is Chef/Owner/Host and he delivers again and again. Bring a solid appetite as you’re going eat well. Try some saki and the Suntory Masters Dream beer that is really good. Daisuke will handle the rest. If you’re going with a mixed crowd, vegan, or finicky sushi eater- don’t worry you will be catered to and made most welcome by this master sushi Chef and his group. Really delivers here. Enjoy a night out here you won’t regret it.
Tim S — Google review
We came here on a recommendation from a friend and were so glad we did - this is the best omakase we had on our trip and the most delicious sushi we've ever had. There is a LOT of food, so please come hungry. The staff is all very friendly and fluent in English, so they took time to explain all the dishes and origins. The highlight was definitely the tuna prepared four ways from leanest to fattiest - super delicious and so interesting to learn a bit more about tuna! *Unfortunately, we came here after a horrible case of food poisoning a few days ago and were just recovering - this was actually the first post-food poisoning meal we could have and I was still feeling a touch nauseous so I wasn't able to eat a much as I normally do, which I felt super badly about (so sorry, chefs!). However, they were very kind about it and made smaller sushi bites for me (as you can see in photos). This just means we will NEED to come back next time we are in Tokyo!
Hugo K — Google review
I’m aware that there are better and more expensive omakase places, but I really enjoy the whole experience here. I like the diversity of the sushi they have here, and the tuna and yam was interesting. The owner is really attentive and friendly. We came as a group of 3, when I said I would like no wasabi and one of my friends said he wanted less wasabi, the chef immediately made it accordingly. The overall experience is great, and it’s definitely a must try if you like omakase. Reservation (can be weeks in advance) is a must.

HIGASHIYA GINZA is an elegant and upscale shop that offers a modern take on traditional Japanese sweets and tableware. Their specialty lies in wagashi, which are Japanese confections made with ingredients like rice flour, pounded fruits, and red bean paste. The shop's small, spherical creations have a unique texture that dissolves on the tongue, offering unexpected combinations such as matcha and raisin or chestnuts and brandy.
We reserved a pairing menu that include five variety of japanese sweets and teas. This menu provides us to try best 5 pairings in their place.I had epic harmonies in our months which we have never tasted before.No.2 and 4 parings were special, no.2 is ginger and honey white bean paste sweets,no.4 is pumpkin and cream cheese sweets, these combinations took me a new world in a very good way.You can purchase those sweets at their store. Must reserve when you visit HIGASHIYA GINZA.

The decor was amazing and we were so impressed with the attention to detail for everything from service to design. The tea they offer were also great. We also love some of the dessert they offer. The food was not that special I. It’s say. However, it was a nice experience and we enjoyed it. Note that you are only allowed to take photos of the dishes on your table and not the atmosphere. Guess you will have to go see to enjoy it yourself. Highly recommend if you want to see some amazing decor.

HIGASHIYA in Ginza is a place where you truly feel harmony. Every detail is filled with a sense of aesthetics, from the interior to the presentation. The wagashi look like little works of art, capturing the seasons and the breath of nature. The atmosphere is calm, almost meditative, which makes it easy to savor every flavor. I loved how tradition and modernity blend here so naturally and subtly. It’s more than just a confectionery—it’s a unique experience that stays with you.

Amazing! We wanted to find a true Japanese tea experience before our departure tomorrow. Fantastic choices of matcha (I'll add other pictures shortly), tasty small bites (the citrus and persimmon ones were my favrites). Service beyond anything we have been used to, extremely informative and detailed. Plus.. the reason why I'm posting pictures of the interior is that it's so incredibly beautiful. All those furniture pieces... jaw dropping. I'm normally not posting any bathroom pictures but also that private room... amazing. 10/10. A must go and must see.
Ruud N — Google review
A hidden gem among the bustling streets of Ginza. Higashiya Ginza is a meditative experience. I felt relaxed, welcomed, nurtured and energized through the sacred art of tea. The masterful execution is evident in the distinct flavor of matcha. It wasn't as bitter as the ceremonial quality I've tasted before. The matcha is grown in Kyoto and it was subtle, smooth and refreshing. The selection of sweets was divine, each bite of wagashi paired perfectly. Attentive staff were present and not rushed. It was an elegant experience that one can only appreciate in Japan. Sorry you hipster cities but execution in Japan is on another level, the service is unmatched. If you're in the Ginza area you definitely want to stop by. Reservations are encouraged but we were able to get a table as walk-ins. There's also a gift shop to purchase a selection of teas and sweets.

TOKYO Whisky Library is a sophisticated and elegant lounge located in the heart of Omotesando. The opulent space features brick walls, dark wood, plush sofas, and multiple chandeliers, creating a luxurious ambiance. With over 1,000 international varieties displayed on backlit library shelves, it offers an exceptional introduction to the world of whisky. Renowned mixologist Michito Kaneko crafts exquisite cocktails based on classics like the Old Fashioned.
July 24, 2025 Spectacular ambience with whisky stacked up from floor to ceiling like a real library. The moment I entered the bar, I was dazzled by bright chandeliers and the gorgeous interior. Since my companion and I were not in the mood for strong, straight whisky, we opted for whisky cocktails and we were just as pleased. I got a vanilla velvet and he got a honey old fashioned. The vanilla one was light and airy, while the old fashioned tasted stronger with a honey aftertaste. Drinks are between ¥1,800-2,100 for a cocktail after tax. The menu comes in as a catalogue with so many varieties of whisky and lots of explanation in English and Japanese. Be prepared to be overwhelmed with so many choices. Got seated almost immediately as 2 people for a table at 9:30pm on a Thursday night. Prompt and very polite service. Truly a premium experience.

We had an amazing dinner here, with exceptional service for the whisky tasting. Excellent for a special occasion & for whisky lovers! Delicious cocktails and many unique and rare bottles made for a truly one-of-a-kind evening!

This place is absolutely beautiful. However wonderful the ambience, the drinks were not as good as expected. There is no doubt there is a wide wide variety of whiskey however we enjoy cocktails. We enjoy very Spirit forward cocktails and our drinks were nothing special in spite of the hype and price. Two of us had the pasta of day and both of us found it very dry, but we ask for extra olive oil on the side and that made it edible. Definitely do not recommend their fish and chips as that was very disappointing.

Didn't have food so can't rate the food. Overall, the atmosphere was relaxing and a tremendous range of whisky's. This place is on my bucket list and definitely did not disappoint. Thr bartender was knowledgeable - said slightly peatty and must be Japanese. He got it straight away. A must go place if you're a whisky lover! And no... I didn't get the hikibi 30.... ,,😔

Unquestionably the best selection of whisky, with the best service, and the best atmosphere I've ever experienced. Highly knowledgeable, skilled, and kind staff. Recommendations from their staff of rare bottles were absolutely fantastic and beyond all expectations. Pricing on most pours were extremely generous given the rarity of the bottles. I wish I could give it 10 stars out of 5.

If you have any interest in whisky then this is a must visit location when in Tokyo. The library is hidden on the second floor of the Santa Chiara Church in Minato-Aoyama. I’ve been on numerous occasion over the years and the library of whiskies from all over the world available just keeps getting better. New, rare, collectible or made specially for the TWL .. everything is up for tasting .. at a price . For those that want to try a range from famous distillers there are a good selection of whisky flights The food menu is also is of good quality in both its variety and quality. Nothing to match their whisky selection but much more than a bar menu. The service is top notch whether you are local or speak only English. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone who has a few hours to spare in Tokyo!

Very cool space, and free which is always nice. Theres plenty of different displays to look at and the descriptions are in Japanese and English, as are the interactive sections. Some of the old advertisements are gorgeous, and I would definitely buy reproductions if they sold them. I spent maybe an hour and a half here, well worth it.

This is a lovely rather small museum that has very interesting content about advertisement in japan since the early ages. And surprisingly it is free which is rare in Tokyo. On the seventh floor, the beer kitchen offers a Western-inspired food menu to pair with their craft beers. The brewery's multifaceted location honors Tokyo's neighborhoods with its diverse range of brews.
Amazing atmosphere. Delicious beer. We sat on the patio on the first floor, which is somewhat rare for outdoor seating in Tokyo. The food menu was sneakily delicious. • The Jalapeño poppers come individually in glass cups with their own dip… insane!! So good. • The fries sound boring, but pair with the unique in-house sauces! • Buffalo wings not the type buried in sauce… but also not the mini weird ones often found in Japan. 100% recommend! However, danger if drinking 8% beers at noon like I did…

Stopped by the bar side for a beer since I had time to kill before an appointment. Tried the rose beer which was light and refreshing, not too strong. The staff was friendly and spoke a little English, I didn’t have time to try any food but the options sounded tasty. Seems like they make a lot in house, pickles and kimchi etc. I’d come back to try their other beers and food!

Came for a few beers and a bite with a work colleague on a Thursday early evening around 6pm. Place was empty - didn't change when we left at 9pm. We had a few beers (shinjuku pale ale, some hazy session and a hazy ipa) all were decent, food was ok - nothing to write home about but also went well with the beers. It's pay as you go on first floor (they also have resturant on 7th floor same bldg) which is cash or card. Overall decent - had a terrace which is nice I guess on cooler month.

Yakumo Saryō is a stylish and minimalistic restaurant located in the quiet residential streets of Meguro, Tokyo. It offers an authentic Japanese breakfast experience with simple yet perfectly balanced dishes such as miso soup, pickles, fish, and tea paired with wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets). The venue has a zen-like ambiance and provides dainty multi-course meals along with tea pairings.
Situated in southwest Tokyo, between Meguro and Setagaya, away from the tourist trails, this is a place that exudes Zen everywhere and in everything, perfect for enjoying a slow and traditional Japanese breakfast and tea or matcha service. The food and Japanese sweets (wagashi) are refined and the service very elegant and traditional.

Finally made the trip from central Tokyo. Beautiful setting, tucked away from the bustle of Tokyo. Staff seemed distracted (upon arrival, during service, and upon paying the bill). Breakfast and tea were tasty and portions felt appropriate. Unfortunately no one seemed passionate about their job and the element of omotenashi I’ve grown to love and anticipate was definitely missing. I’d return with a friend for a different meal service and season, but perhaps not again solo given this experience and the effort made on a rainy morning to arrive there.

Had a truly unforgettable experience doing the tea ceremony at Yakumo Saryo. Saki was beyond sweet and professional. She went above and beyond to make our experience memorable and was an amazing host. The best tea and matcha I have ever tasted. Will definitely be back!
Anthony E — Google review
Never had tea like this tea. A beautiful compound, mid century but classic, felt timeless. We sat alone at a kind of bar for lunch (for most of the time we had the room to ourselves). The first green tea — gyokuro — was pure umami. Served through four steeepings. First two in a thimbleful. Intense, but not in the usual way one would think of intense tea - light but almost electric on the tongue with a very long finish. Third time a cherry leaf was added, last time iced, stirred, like a cocktail, neat. Food also great, moist morsel of saury, rice balls with sea bream, some very nice sake, the wagashi, but this tea, the matcha and hojicha that followed, were the stars. Extremely attentive service, as one might expect (some English but not much, which was sort of reassuring). Beautiful serving pieces and decor - see especially the antique tukkuri. Ethereal.

From the moment you walk up the steps to the entrance of this restaurant you’re immediately transported into a world where simplicity meets elegance and modernity. We came here for traditional Japanese breakfast and tea pairings. The food here is simple yet contemporary, complementing the architecture and decor of the restaurant. Shimbashi DRY-DOCK is a charming, nautical-themed bar nestled in Shinbashi, Tokyo. This cozy hangout boasts a unique ambiance with captain's wheels for beer taps and portholes in the doors, evoking an authentic maritime feel without being over-the-top. While cocktails are not the focus here, the bar takes pride in its meticulous serving process for Asahi Super Dry, touted as the most delicious in Tokyo.
Get shipwrecked in Shimbashi! I found the dry dock quite by accident, walking under the train tracks in a quieter area of Shimbashi. Located next to a bike parking area it would be very easy to walk straight past this spot and never know it existed. Naturally it’s nautical, and you can get your first taste of this by peering through the portholes to see if there are any free spots! Upon entering it is like being in the galley of a ship; it’s tight for space but that’s part of the experience. I was lucky enough to get a spot at the downstairs stand-up bar and had some good banter with the bar crew; they’ll help you select a beverage that suits your palate. Really fantastic brews, and a cool tap set-up built into the helm. The Dry Dock rocks!

Small bar under the train tracks. Standing room only on the first floor with tables on the 2nd. Good beer and fried chicken.

One of the most unique izakayas I’ve been to in Tokyo. Ot is literally set up as a boat, and if you go upstairs, it literally feels like you’ve been transported out to sea. It’s kinda trippy. It’s worth going just for that feeling, but the good news is everything I tried was fantastic. They are known for their super cold Asahi draft beer, which I highly recommend. Then there is the food. The buffalo wings actually had a nice authentic buffalo sauce, the fried chicken was tasty, and the fried calamari good. But the two clear winners were the mustard pork and the omurice, which I’m already thinking about due my next visit. Service was fast and funny friendly. It’s a small spot so there is a time limit, but I never felt rushed. Add this one to your list for surd.

What a cool little bar based on the theme of a boat, with a clever name. This place is known for their special pour of Asahi Super Dry (as seen in this video), it’s quite entertaining. He pours it with no head first, then nothing but head, then a quick dunk in water to finish it off. Is there a difference in taste? I did find it refreshing and less carbonated than usual. Really cool spot to check out if you’re in the area and craving a nice cold beer.

Great little bar in the corner of Shimbashi station. The technique used by the bartender can make a huge difference in how your beer turns out. Highly recommended. You may find them on Japan By Food as well. The fried chicken basket is a great pairing with the beer too!

Asahi perfect pour and super delicious. So much different from other place and worth a visit. I always visit this bar whenever I have a trip to tokyo. 9 years from the first visit in 2014 Still the best Asahi in the world Chicken fried (Kara-a-ge) is also a great beer pairing

Ningyocho Imahan is a renowned 120-year-old establishment that serves top-grade Japanese beef in an elegant setting. Guests can enjoy the star attraction, Kuroge Wagyu beef, prepared at their table in a sukiyaki hotpot with endless top-ups of beef and vegetables. The attentive staff ensures a pampering experience as they anticipate every need. Additionally, visitors have the option to purchase Kuroge Wagyu beef from the Imahan butchery located nearby.
The best sukiyaki I've had in Tokyo, thank you to the staff for the great service! A very nice dinner! The wagyu beef is really delicious, I will eat it next time I go to Tokyo! The service, price and ingredients are all in line! They also gave gifts to the children.

Imahan is a popular spot for sukiyaki, and I recommend making a reservation in advance. The restaurant has a beautiful traditional Japanese atmosphere. The set menu is on the pricey side, but the quality of the meat is excellent, and the staff are very polite. That said, considering the overall cost and experience, it’s probably not a place I’d return to.

Love the food. We ordered the best quality beef set menu. Beef was so delicious and every day they have different wagyu beef. If you look for old fashion style high level restaurants, must come to try. Suggestions book 1-2 months in advance. Will be back for sure

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, which we had hoped would be one of the highlights of our trip to Tokyo. We made a reservation in advance and paid ¥17,600 (¥19,360 including tax) for the Top Quality Beef Sukiyaki Tsuki Course for two. This was quite expensive for us, but we were willing to pay for what we expected to be an exceptional dining experience with top-tier ingredients and service. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the opposite. We were left alone in a private room for long periods and had to wait excessively for our food. The appetizer course went smoothly. However, despite clearly stating in our reservation that my husband has food allergies—including an allergy to otoro (fatty tuna)—we were still served a dish with about four pieces of red fish. I had to eat it in his place. (If you have food allergies, I strongly advise double-checking with the staff before dining here.) Later, the staff brought in raw beef and then left the room. The meat and a bowl of cracked raw egg were left on the table for over 10 minutes. No one returned until I pressed the call button to say we were ready. Only then did someone come in to start cooking. After finishing the sukiyaki, the staff told us they would return to prepare fried rice with the remaining egg. Instead, we were left again—with empty dishes, leftover egg, and a hot pan—for over 40 minutes. I even asked a staff member to refill our water (since there was no water jug in the room), but we were simply left there waiting. Eventually, we felt we could not waste any more time and decided to leave. We did not get to complete the full course, and the level of service we received was nowhere near worth the nearly ¥40,000 we spent. Although the staff offered to serve dessert at the end, it did little to make up for what was, unfortunately, the worst dining experience we’ve ever had.

best sukiyaki resto (not overhyped) from appetisers to desserts, everything was so delicate beef quality 💯💯 definitely worth trying if you’re in tokyo!

We enjoyed the food here. Ordered kid’s lunch box and sukiyaki lunch course. Food is great and service is awesome!
Ethan H — Google review
Came to enjoy sukiyaki with co-workers. Everything was amazing. From the traditional service to the amazing food. The beef just melted in my mouth and the coating of raw egg made it velvety and creamy. The veggies, which were picked during to being in season, was a great pairing to the meat. The last course of rice with lightly cooked eggs was elevated when the waitress told us to pour the remaining raw egg into the rice. I could have eaten at least 2 more bowls of rice!
Wook K — Google review
Very good service and nice traditional vibe. We ordered the ¥5000 lunch sukiyaki and ¥2700 kids version. We sit in a private room and a lady with kimono cooked for us for the entire time. The food was tasty and the portion is big. We were so full and satisfied for the experience. Highly recommended and I’ll come back next time.

If you are into the classics, this is the place to go. Rarely, and I mean rarely, have I encountered a bartender to not only eyeball pours for cocktails, but also do them perfectly and this man…he’s it! His 20+ years of experience truly shine with both his signature cocktails and the classics and every drink I had was very delicious. He’s incredibly talented and he made my whole entire day with his kindness and overall service. I highly recommend a visit here and definitely try a whiskey drink as he has a great curated selection.

Like other reviews said the bartender is fantastic. my husband and I went this Saturday, tail end of golden week and for some reason the bar was dead. We were the only ones there, So I am glad we gave this guy our business. Everything was a delicious work of art. Specialty Cocktails on the menu were priced from 2000Y-2900Y this may not me "cheap" but typical for the area. There is cheaper for standard drinks for about 1000Y-1600Y. I would definitely check it out if you are thinking about it or trying to find a fantastic intimate bar in roppongi.

Shinagawa Season Terrace is a prime example of 3D urban planning, a collaborative effort between the Tokyo Metropolis and four private companies. The lower levels feature an array of shops, dining options, and conference facilities. Adjacent to the building is a sprawling 3.5-hectare green space that transforms with the seasons. This development seamlessly combines business advantages with community-building elements, making it a valuable asset to the local area.
I was there to visit Kojima Productions. For those who are looking for the same thing, lemme help you. Once you arrive in front of this building coming from the Main Street , you will face the escalator, take it upstairs and you will find the Ludens statue hiding somewhere on your left. Now if you are looking for the Merch, stand in front of the statue with it being behind you. On your 2 o’clock you will see a glass door with « Shops and restaurants » above it. Enter from that door and you will find a staircase on your left, go upstairs and you will face a huge black and white sign that lists all the offices in the building. Now, facing the sign , enter the glass door on your left and then immediately turn right, walk a little bit and you will find a « Famima » shop on your right. Congrats you got there bud. Now if you need cash to buy all that juicy merch, there is an ATM just next to the store. Enjoy.

A complex containing meeting rooms and restaurants. The entrance looks nice. As far as I can recall, there are only stairs at the entrance which is followed by escalators. I also needed to take stairs after escalator, to reach to the meeting room. Persons with wheel chairs should check with the facility before visiting there.

Let's be honest, I was there for Kojima. There's some nice merch in the food/gift shop on the first floor (one bookcase worth including small figured and t-shirts) and the suit of armor outside. What a great little spot for a drink!!! Six of us wandered in off the street at about 1030pm and staff quickly shuffled around and made some space so we could all sit together. Service was exceptional, and staff were so polite. Their English was great too so we had no troubles ordering. All in all - excellent.

HC C — Google review
I had originally heard about Star Bar from Bar Times Tokyo many years ago, so I knew I had to visit them during my next trip to Japan. They did not disappoint with delicious cocktails and their signature Ninja Ice (completely see-through especially when viewed from the side). While I speak Japanese, the head bar tender at the Ginza location also speaks English quite well, so you should have no trouble communicating. The atmosphere is well-suited to the quality of the drinks: calmly-lit and in the basement of a unassuming building on Namiki-dori (literally translated, the tree-lined street), it has a speakeasy feeling to it. Highly recommend.
Bret — Google review
My boyfriend and I love these types of cocktail bars and Star Bar was one of the best we've been to in Japan. Normally the cocktails on bar menus are too sweet or fruity for us, but there were lots of interesting and stronger options and each one was worth the price considering we've spent the same at tourist establishments with mediocre drinks before. If you're looking for just a vibe it might be a little expensive, but if you really appreciate quality cocktails, this place is worth going out of your way for. No reservations so you just walk in and try your luck. We loved this concept bc we don't speak enough Japanese to book in advance, and we never know when we'll be done with things so it's hard to be on time anyways. We went around 9pm on a friday night and got a table for two, then were moved to the bar when seats became available. This is a place where you want to sit at the bar - not a table! Then you can watch them making the drinks and get a view of the gorgeous bar setup during your visit. The staff are very attentive here and we appreciated the service! They noticed that I was giving my boyfriend the side olives, so gave me crackers instead. They were also courteous enough to change our seats as mentioned above, without us even letting them know. I was also waiting for the bathroom for a little while, and the staff came to open the door for me because I mistakenly thought someone was in there the whole time, which was dumb of me but smart of them to catch! Lol

Koffee Mameya Kakeru is a coffee shop in Tokyo's Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, known for its wide variety of beans and dedication to showcasing the multiple possibilities of the same coffee bean being interpreted into different kinds of drinks.
This was my favorite experience in Japan. I’m not much of a coffee drinker but my wife drinks it religiously. Thought it’d be fun to do a omakase tasting menu. I WAS RIGHT. The ambiance was amazing. Staff provided me insight to how each dish/drink was made and the thought process behind it. Made me really appreciate coffee! My wife got the seasonal tasting coffee menu, and I opted for the cocktail menu. Loved the setup and would recommend this omakase experience to anyone.
Ricky L — Google review
Reservation only. Been wanting to come here for awhile. Unfortunately, it rained on the day we went which made it difficult, but was well worth it. We got there early, but they didn’t seat us until our time. Waiting area has no seating. I would expect a place of this caliber to have something for you to do while you wait. Each reservation gets a dedicated server/barista so your mileage will vary. Ours was great. She made it so fun and enjoyable. Her English was good for us to enjoy the time together. A couple others joined in when we had something fun to share. They all wear lab coats that make it seem very polished and serious, but they are all friendly people. You can order individual cups of coffee of which they have a wide range of beans prepared as a pour over. Much like their other location in Ometesando. The highlight here though is their course menu. They have three. One seasonal coffee, one classic coffee, and one cocktail menu. We got their seasonal and it did not disappoint. It’s pricey, so if you’re looking for value, it’s not the place. If you’re looking for an experience, it’s a great way to spend a few hours. Awesome place to take a date who likes coffee. I love coffee, so I ordered their most expensive bean as an additional order and they were shocked. They don’t sell a lot of it because it’s about $40 a cup. Only one of the baristas were allowed to do the pour so it was fun going through the whole experience. The coffee was also great, though I probably wouldn’t be drinking it on the regular. Awesome time, and thankful for the wonderful staff who made it a great experience.

Absolutely unique and incredible way to experience coffee. Delicious. Our barista/scientist was knowledgeable and kind, and made the best cups of coffee I've ever had. The food pairings for the omakase were also unique and delicious.
Johnny A — Google review
This is not your normal coffee shop. They call it “experience store” and it is for good reason. This is basically a coffee tasting experience where they bring about 4-5 types of making the coffee, with a pairing of a small dish to go with it. They will also explain each process well in English, along the notes and the idea behind the companion dish. Reservations are definitely needed, as they have specific timeslots that need to be adhered to.
Kenny C — Google review
Great experience buying coffee. Please remember that you have to pay for the cup of coffee you get to try. Barrista wear lab coats and are quite professional. They do ask for your preferences and they help you narrow down the different types of coffee’s you should try. Get there early because there is always a line and they can only help three costumers at a time.
Ileana T — Google review
This coffee tasting/omakase experiences was one of our favorite activities! My wife and I are absolute coffee addic--lovers I mean, and getting to do a fancy coffee tasting as opposed to the normal alcohol ones was such a treat. They have several sets to choose from. The barista we had was super nice and knowledgeable, telling us about every type of bean he was preparing for us, as well as about the different styles of preparation. Each drink was paired with a specific bite of food that either enhanced the drink, or the drink enhanced the food. These are just tastings by the way, so don't come here hungry and ready for an entire meal. We bought several bags of coffee as souvenirs to brew at home, of which they tell you the ideal way to grind and brew it, with directions written down and a tiny sample bag of how coarse/fine the beans should be ground. Definitely recommended if you are a coffee aficionado like us!
Khoa N — Google review
This coffee experience was on another level! The coffee scientists have mastered every detail, from flavor to pairings. Definitely something I’d do again when I’m back in Japan. They also have dairy free tasting course!!
Isaac C — Google review
Make sure you reserve in advance. It’s a beautiful setting in a quiet neighbourhood. The baristas were lovely and talked us through each course of the tasting menu which was super interesting and fun, but I’d only do it if you actually like coffee (maybe that’s obvious sorry). Otherwise there is an à la carte menu to choose from. Very relaxing environment. Great for the coffee fans!

Such a vibe! The bar has a warm and cosy feel, the choice of records was great, drinks are delicious (and very well priced) and seeing “Grandfather” working the bar was very sweet. Love an atmospheric spot like this.
Hannah S — Google review
We stopped in here at 17:30 and waited about 5 mins for a seat at the bar. Staff are so helpful and prices are very good. The man playing the vinyl records was so cute and said he had over 2000 records. They are all lined up on the wall and the decor is very cool in there. He thanked us when we were leaving and gave us some coasters and branded matchsticks ! We should have stayed all night 10/10!
Becca M — Google review
Great gimlets. Attentive service. The music choice was okay, soft rock. Smoking is allowed inside, something to know if that bothers you. Uncomfortable seating. A little difficult to find with google maps. It is downstairs off the street level.
Jordan N — Google review
What a fantastic atmosphere at Grandfather's. We were made to feel welcome by not only the staff but also a local patron who showed us how we could choose music to be played. Great cocktails and good value considering the special place it is. If you like things the way they used to be (that smokey 60's - 80's feel) this is the place to visit!
Kim G — Google review
This was truly one of the most magical and memorable experiences I’ve had in Tokyo. The music and the atmosphere was wonderful. And so were their tiny martini glasses.. You can spend hours here having a nightcap and day dreaming. It’s a must visit for sure.

Geronimo Shot Bar is a lively and rowdy establishment located in the vibrant Roppongi area of Tokyo. It's known for its high-energy atmosphere, free entry, and frequent complimentary shots. The bar has a cozy ambiance with friendly staff and regulars, offering an extensive selection of reasonably priced drinks. Decorated in a North American Indian theme, it's popular for its impressive decor and extensive shot menu.
Having visited their sister bar, Hero’s, in Singapore, we knew we were in for a good time. Every expat I know has a story about this place and it’s no surprise that it holds up to its reputation. Good times.
Timo S — Google review
Geronimo isn’t just a bar, it’s a survival test. You go in for a drink, you come out with stories, new friends, and maybe a dart in your hand. Legendary spot where the night always lasts longer than you planned. Ozod (the most handsome guy) and Clayton are the best bartenders who you definitely should meet when you are in Roppongi
Thayna K — Google review
Great drinking bar in Roppongi. Friendly bartenders, welcoming atmosphere.
Michael S — Google review
Geronimo holds a special place in my heart. Between the friendly bartenders, cheap drinks, creative shots, and energetic sing alongs, this is the perfect place to start or end a night out. Hell, if you decide to spend your entire night here, you won't regret it.
Jake L — Google review
Pulled up with my team & immediately started vibing to the great music selection from our amazing bartenders, Maui & Mayumi! We took fire shots, banged the drum a couple times & had a blast! Best bar in Roppongi!
Taylor S — Google review
Lovely shot bar and friendly staff. They do have a branch in Hong Kong too. Try to best the score board, but be prepared to get absolutely hammered.
Tom H — Google review
A staple of the Roppongi area in Tokyo! It’s a guaranteed party with very attentive and friendly staff. So many shots… Worth the walk up the stairs!
Dan S — Google review
Had a great night here! The staff were the best, Maui even gave us tips for the rest of trip in Japan. The drum was lots of fun. Would rate it higher if I could!!

Japanese restaurant
Sougo is a Japanese restaurant that offers modern interpretations of traditional shojin (vegetarian) dishes. The menu features colorful and seasonal Japanese cuisine available as a course or a la carte. Guests have praised the smooth reservation process and professional, attentive service. The Kaiseki Lunch Course is particularly recommended, with each dish thoughtfully explained upon serving. Chef Nomura and his team provide a memorable culinary experience, offering Michelin-quality food and service.
Absolutely fantastic vegetarian restaurant. They only offer tasting menus for dinner and we chose the 7 dishes + 1 dessert option. Every dish was delicous and the portions were small but filling. The different textures in the courses and the food presentation was outstanding. At the end, they also give you a cute chopstick case and they let you keep your chopsticks and napkin. That was a really cute touch to the experience. Really fun to sit at the counter and watch them make the food.
Anna K — Google review
I am NOT a Buddhist Monk, so I may be biased but I felt like I was robbed of $200 and my appetite when I visited here last night. I did the Zen course, the food was beautifully present but it had no flavor whatsoever (especially no salt). For the dessert we were offered a fruit - yes a fruit. Why would someone pay $$$ to eat a fruit for dessert which could be had for under a dollar. Very disappointed. The best things about the place were the welcoming chef, sake and presentation of the food. I feel this is way over priced as I had lunch at a Michelin star French restaurant in the afternoon the same day for half the price with mind blowing food.
Abhishek S — Google review
11000 yen per head Quite disappointing - Taste: average yet unfortunately nothing is too impressive. The final dessert (sorbet) is basically a ball of quite big pieces of ice chuck. Chefs are rather “clumsy” which is quite rare in all the omakase I have been to. Example: they 100% spilled some soup on the kitchen table when they pour from the big one to the serving cup. They dropped certain ingredients on the kitchen table (which I believe it’s clean?!…) and picked it back up and put right into customer’s cup. The head chef kept wiping hands on his apron, grabbing menu and then touch the food directly. It’s not professional. Not quite acceptable for this price they charge
Karen — Google review
What a fantastic Shojin vegan restaurant in Tokyo. We got the 12 course vegan Shojin meal. Be warned the portions are filling with soup and rice, so come hungry! There's also a smaller menu choice. We had no issues eating it all though as the quality, flavor, creativity and playing were all 5/5. Every course was delicious highlighting a modern, fine dining experience of the traditional vegan Japanese Buddhist diet. The wine was great too. Service was lovely and hospitable. The restaurant is a little hard to find on the 3rd floor and up and elevator. A must eat experience for awesome vegan food in Tokyo.
Susanna S — Google review
This is a pure vegetarian, Buddhist-inspired restaurant. In the evening it is a tasting menu with the option being either 7 or 9 courses. The food is interesting and beautifully presented. However we found very little engagement from the staff and a rather dull atmosphere. Would not return.
Googlebox 2 — Google review
Some of the best food during my trip in Japan. I am picky about meat, so having vegetarian options that are full of flavor was such a delight! Highly recommend the curry. Service was friendly, seating was comfortable and private. Desserts were top notch! I got the sampler which was fun to try things I wouldn't normally order.
Stella W — Google review
Fantastic Shojin ryori kaiseki meal. I enjoyed the house made sodas and highly recommend the ginger-ale. Each course was plated by the staff and chef in front of us. Some highlights were the burdock root sushi, braised daikon, and the most custard-like persimmon. It was great to talk with the chef and understand how he got into cooking Buddhist vegetarian cuisine. Highly recommend
Shaun W — Google review
The restaurant has the atmosphere and feel of a high-end experience, but unfortunately is lacking in any taste whatsoever! I have had several meals in Tokyo for less than half this price point, which I would rank very high in favourite meals, perhaps ever. Unfortunately, Sougo, or at least the Buddhist menu, was bland *especially* compared to past experiences dining in actual monasteries. There was nothing extraordinary to merit this price point at all, in fact, much the opposite. All style, no substance. If you're a foodie looking for quality, I would turn your attention elsewhere.

Code name MIXOLOGY akasaka is a must-visit spot for cocktail enthusiasts. The bar offers experimental cocktails and molecular mixology, creating unique flavor combinations. It's popular among the hip Japanese crowd and features an extensive whisky selection. The visually stunning cocktails are a feast for the senses, and the attentive staff provides excellent service. While it may be small, making reservations in advance ensures a memorable experience. Additionally, patrons praise the delicious food offerings at this top-notch cocktail bar.
Great spot with decent cocktails, though the flavors were a bit strong for my taste. Excellent presentation and service. Heads-up: there’s an 880 yen per person cover charge from 16:00-23:00, which I missed initially. Ended up being 40% of my bill—would’ve ordered more drinks otherwise!
D F — Google review
I don’t usually leave Google reviews, but I had to for this bar. Hands down the best bar in Tokyo—maybe even all of Japan. They have super creative drinks, so if you’re into trying something new, this is the spot. Our bartender, Kaoru, was amazing. He really listens to what you’re looking for in a cocktail and puts his own twist on it. He made us several original drinks that weren’t even on the menu. Both the menu and off-menu cocktails were incredible. If you like spicy cocktails, you have to try one with wasabi gin—it’s next level. Also, it’s not too hard to grab a seat here, which was a bonus. We’re so happy we found this place on our last day in Japan—just wish we had more time to come back. This is a must-visit when in Tokyo!
Ozge C — Google review
Go to this bar if you wanna have a good time. The vibes are classy and fun at the same time Bartenders are extremely attentive and would even give us custom drinks based on our preferences if there was nothing on the menu we liked. Our bartender was Aki and he was an awesome guy. The popcorn also had a unique twist to it that had us ordering multiple rounds.

I was lucky to arrive before the busy time and got to enjoy a lovely dinner with outstanding cocktails and even better service. The team takes great pride in their work and I am thankful to have been able to experience a little of their craft.

Really loved this bar, great service and amazing unique drinks. I had a couple, including the Roquefort colada which was my favorite. They've got a small gin distillery in the bar as well, make a lot of unique gins, got to taste the blue cheese & wasabi, which were both very true to the flavor, quite tasty.

Went to this place with my colleagues and we all loved the drinks. We all ordered two drinks, the first one is from the menu and the second one is a special drink they made based on our conversation. They have a great collection of food-infused alcohol! All the mixologist here are very kind as well.

Absolutely superb experience. the most elevated cocktail experience we have seen. Each drink is served in a unique vintage glass. The staff are very attentive and give an excellent service. You have to witness the care in which they make each drink. Sublime!

Stopped for a drink before our dinner reservations across the street for a birthday dinner. First time having a martini and a Jack Rose. Both were great. Going to the sento after Korean bbq. Wish me luck

It’s a really cool place located in Omotesando. I’ve never been to such a nice bar like this before. The bartender makes the cocktails from fresh fruits, which have a completely different smell and taste compared to those cocktails that are made by prepared juices. The glasses are beautiful and gorgeous: some of them are more than 100 years old!!! The interior is very nice, woody style. I’m sure you will like this milieu. The lavatory is also cute, cram and tidy. According to the bartender, weekdays are busy compared to weekends. Highly recommended!
Sandy J — Google review
A memorable experience! Nice setting for a quiet conversation and an amazing drink. We only shared our preference and the waiter returned with custom cocktails for us. They were outstanding! I can't wait to return.
Chris S — Google review
Very unusual bar hidden in a back street of Omotesando the ambience is excellent and the selection of cocktails available is outstanding all made by a very friendly and helpful bar team. Will go again
Jim S — Google review
Beautiful bar, exquisite ambience. And no smoking allowed which means it even smells great too. The glassware is spectacular. Classic drinks seem to be the best option here, and are well made. "Take the A train" was a lovely well balanced original, but overall stick to classics which you can be sure will deliver solidly.
Andrew B — Google review
Very cool bar, they clearly take their work very seriously. Coming from NYC, we weren't expecting it to be so formal, most cocktail bars back home are not so introspective. This was our fault for A) not doing more research before showing up and B) not reading the room when we arrived. My friends were too loud, so were asked to leave after the first round of drinks. That one martini I had though was absolutely amazing. Definitely worth the visit, just remember to keep it down.

Bar La Hulotte, which means "owl" in French, is a cozy and rustic watering hole located in Azabu. It has gained attention for its unique atmosphere that combines rough stone, warm wood, and subtle lighting. While it's not a trendy spot for dates, it's perfect for solo visitors looking to enjoy a quiet evening with fine cigars and expertly crafted cocktails by the master bartender.
I as whiskey person drank 5 courses of Omakase cocktails by one of the greatest bartender, Kawase san. It bloomed one special night with the beautiful scent. I miss that night.
