This cocktail bar should be Top 50. They make fantastic drinks and have a funny creative menu. I had the Gin Basil Smash and it was delicious. I liked it so much I came back the next day to try their gin & tonic menu. The bar itself has a chill, hipster vibe playing late 90s rap. Each cocktail is crafted with care and tastes delicious. Unpretentious and you order at the bar. If you are in the area, highly recommend to try a few of their cocktails.

Super cool bar, with super cool employees! And the cocktails they serve, are ones I have never had before. Very very tasty! And a fun gimmick is, you can ask for a Polaroid picture, wich will end up in the bar somewhere. A nice little memory :)

We went cocktail hopping on the streets of Bergen so tried numerous spots. This one emerges at the top easily. Best Old Fashioned I've had in a while. Amazing vibe, courteous staff and open until late. Go there!

A hidden gem hidden in a corner set back from the main tourist thoroughfare. Dark band ambient with a 'speak-easy' feel to it. Talented barman serves a wide range of excellent cocktails at dizzying speed (or perhaps the dizziness was caused by the cocktails themselves!). Highly recommended for a chilled drink at the end of the day.

Would have been good but the male bartender with his hair in a bun and no facial hair was an absolute douche. I asked him if there was any amber type beers and he told me to go somewhere else if I wanted "beer" whatever that means. Though they have 10 beers on tap and I was simply asking what types they are. Then he also told me I can look at the menu myself after I showed him they did indeed have an amber type beer. Thanks for the hospitality BUDDY.

Great atmosphere, really cool and chilled out. Not too loud. We had delicious G&T's. There's certainly was 'No Stress' until we had to pay, but that's Norway for you.

Eclectic cocktail bar serving fun spins on the classics. Located in downtown Bergen very close to the ward and fish market. The staff is friendly and the space has edgy cool kid vibes. The cocktails are a little bit on the sweeter side, but still delicious. Great spot to stop by for a drink or two before or after dinner.

Great beer and record store, we sat outside and drank a few fantastic beers. The selection was massive and very well rounded. They are on untapped so you can figure out what they have in before you get in. Highly recommend you stop by for a pint.

The mead was superb there are three types I recommend having one of each - you maybe tipsy leaving but happy The reindeer steak was amazing, the combination of flavors were complex and well balanced. The meat was cooked to perfection and not a step more. The desert were both enjoyable

Traditional Norwegian food, with great local beers on offer too. I had the mushroom casserole as it was the only vegetarian option - nice earthy savoury flavours. The brown cheese mousse for dessert was fantastic! Everything came quickly and the service was fast - a bit too fast for me, especially given the high price, I would have liked to slow down and savour this a bit more. The restaurant is popular and very busy, but has a lively atmosphere. A tiny bit underwhelming for the price, but probably more exciting if you're a meat-eater

This was amazing food. Traditional Norwegian dishes with what felt like a modern feel. Every morsel was tasty. My husband and son had the meatballs. I had the fish pie. Very tasty. Great atmosphere in the restaurant. Casual and comfortable. Staff were friendly and entertaining ☺️ I would agree with other reviews. The value of this food for the quality was better than other restaurants we saw around.

Great value for the price. The whale steak was amazing, the lamb stew incredibly tasty. The fish soup was nice but nothing special. Everything was beautifully presented, especially the reindeer cured meat. Really pleasant service. Would come back!

Unique place run by volunteers. Lots of things going on every week, definitely worth a visit. Reccommend buying tickets in advance, it can get very crowded in more popular events.

Great place for techno parties (the Sista Cave Raves are legendary), but they usually host rock bands. Also good dancefloor on the weekends if you like pop/club music.

We had an amazing full Tasting menu here and impeccable service. The food is mind blowing- extremely well thought out, perfectly made and arranged. From the very start of the snacks inside of the stunning bar, to the Tasting menu inside of the beautiful dining room everything was a symphony of service and food. As it is with tasting menus it’s hard to describe it in detail. So the best way do describe it is “innovative & delicious”. Having had a good selection of dining experience like this across the world, I simply don’t understand why Bare has “only” one Michelin Star. It deserves at least two. As a side note - we had the non alcoholic drink pairing (a first for me) and I highly recommend that. It was innovative, truly matched the dishes and it was delicious!

Michelin star restaurant in Bergen. Over 10 types of foods from the bar area to the restaurant area. The decoration of their foods was amazing although each portion can be tiny. It took nearly 4 -5 hours in total to finish so we left a little bit tired. This is not just for filling stomach but rather a food show. Service is great but could be better.

We had shorter tasting menu in 07/2022, food was great and wine pairing superb, service was friendly and not too formal, they even send some Finns from kitchen to serve us some of plates. Only "downside" was, i needed to ask few times non-sparkling wines, as they forgot it, but fixed it with smile on face.

Its Michelin star is deserved. The food tasting menu is delicious and creative. The wine list is solid, somewhat overpriced. The food service is artistic, quite slow, but the wine service is chaotic and not well organized. The common impression is positive. To my mind, the restaurant is a good option of high-end cuisine in Bergen.

Great experience. All the courses we had were excellent, using primarily local main ingredients and making them shine. Also nice use of pickling and ferments. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The wine selection is broad ranging from DRC to Radikon and Mother rock.

Me and my friend had 10 courses and a bottle of wine + cocktail and we had a WONDERFUL time here! Foods were perfect! My 1st goes to Norwegian eel, then salmon nigiri, oyster, and matcha crème brûlée 🫶🏽🫶🏽 I am a very detailed person, and what I recognised here is that their service is top tier(I’ve been to too many fine dining, including Michelin star and their service is at the same level as 3 star in Paris) So, it is more than “worth the money” I’d definitely come back here again.

All good. Went in the evening around 7pm on a Thursday. Fish dishes were good and fish cooked well. Pleasant atmosphere, not stuffy, relaxed and chatty, it felt good. Order at the bar hence the lower stars for the service.

Amazing Place. The Cod was outstanding! We had a little miscommunication issue on my behalf and I ordered a shrimp plate that I was allergic to, but immediately was taken care and offered options. The service was friendly the second we walked in. We felt very welcomed. Great Spot! Definitely worth a try!! If I am ever back in Bergen this will be my first place. Great Job!

The number one best beer selection I have found on our travels. About 50 differing selections with good information displayed on each. Also fabulous staff that are very willing to help one decide on a brew. Limited outside seating but great views inside of the active street in front. This will be remembered in my fond memories of Bergen.

A great selection of beers and a friendly bartender. The venue is informal and relaxed. A good place to try out different brews without overpaying like you'd risk at a hipster bar. They also sell the unique bar name glasses for 25kr, very cool.

The only bar in this city which has a great draft beer selection! 5 stars!, must visit if you are looking for draft stout and dark beer. Prices are also considerably less than in other places . You also should try ginger with Nordic berries

Just spent a couple of very pleasant hours in this pub with friends. Great Norwegian beers and ciders, and the pub tender was very nice. It’s a good place to spend time in after a walk in the hilly streets of Bergen.

Apparently this is where the locals go to drink, as it's cheaper than most places. It's a really chilled out cool little bar just a short walk from the popular harbour/quay area. People are friendly, chatty, bar staff are helpful, the music is cool. All good.

Barkeepering good and fast. Nice cozy Location. But a little bit unfriendly to tourists. We order 2 beer and i was transporting it behind the fence to our table outside ,because it was pretty narrow with many other guests in the outside area. The one and only gay bar of Bergen. Not bad. Not too pricey. The downstairs is cozy and quaint. The upstairs is mostly Latin dance tunes. Wish they did more 80s and 90s nights. All in all it’s fine. Solid 3 stars.

A fantastic Gay bar in Bergen. A very friendly crowd of mixed ages. Dance club upstairs, and we heard ABBA - that song! Loved it. Highly recommend you visit and so easy to chat with the locals.

Wonderful visit to Grieg's house. Beautiful location and a spellbinding piano recital. Highly recommend if you're a fan. Be aware it's a 25 minute walk from the tram stop.

We had the most amazing time. We even attended a piano recital on Grieg's Peer Gynt. This place is brilliant. However, the food is very expensive. ( More expensive than anywhere else we visited in Norway.) Eat somewhere else, but this is a definite visit.

Amazing experience. Unfortunately they were renovating the villa so we didn't get to go inside, but the grounds are beautiful. We lucked into being there when we could catch a recital. It was amazing to witness a performance of five of Grieg's pieces just up the hill from his composing hut, looking at the same landscape he did while composing them.

As a classical musician I needed to come to Grieg's house to see where so much wonderful music was written. It is in a beautiful setting on a lake and must have been very serene in Grieg's time. Sadly there is now a busy road nearby and neighbouring houses and the serenity is diminished! The museum is not very large, but had a very informative exhibition of photos and artifacts with excellent commentary in English. There was a film about Bergen/Norway set to the music of Grieg, but it was just a travelogue and I would have preferred a more in depth film of Grieg's life. Sadly the house was being renovated inside and out, so photos of the house in its natural setting weren't possible, but we did go inside and it was definitely worth the visit with excellent commentary from the guide. The composer's hut was very lovely as are the surrounding gardens. The house is about a 10 minute walk from the carpark. We went in mid April and it wasn't too busy, but it may be worth buying tickets online, as we did, to make sure you get on a tour as numbers are limited to 12. There is a cafe (larger than the museum) but it was only serving drinks. A bit underwhelming as a museum, but still good and a must for all classical music lovers.

Well worth visiting even if you are not a classic music buff! Lovely old, well restored house (and outside toilet), with stunning views. Next door is the Museum and grass covered roofed Concert Hall. Watch the short video of Norway done to Greig’s music, that’s must.

Classic students place where to hang out with your friends! Cheep beers (if there is cheep beer in Norway!) Quick and kind service behind the bar. Good thing they are one of the places that close latest at 2:30! Some selection of beers and if you like more cocktails ask for Odd he will fix you something tasty that you will not regret!

Nice prices. Nice place for students and grownups, with newspapers and bar games. One of their bartenders presented me 'Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout', and it instantly became my favorite. Definitely a winner! :)

Wonderful old bit of history! The pubs cellar is the original from the 1300's which is well preserved. Upstairs we were greeted by a friendly publican who was happy to share some of the history of the pub and offer recommendations for a drink.

So glad to have found this perfectly cozy spot right in Bryggen. An unassuming place, which is just what I look for in a bar. Friendly locals, and Ruben was very hospitable to us both nights we came here.

Hidden in an alleyway off the wooden Bryggen houses, this roomy bar is quite the hidden gem. Dark couches and chairs give the room a warm glow and cozy atmosphere. The chairs and couches are large and roomy. Perfect for relaxing with your favorite whiskey or beverage of your choice. Charming space and definitely would recommend and hope to return someday.

Baklommen was our favorite bar in Bergen. It feels like it could have been a tavern 300 yrs ago. The bartender Ruben was very kind to us and took great car of us. 95% of the customers were locals but all are welcome. High recommend the Fjellbekk cocktail.

Sure, it's a unique location and the room certainly has potential, but when were there it felt a bit like we walked into somebody's private gathering instead of a welcoming pub-buzz. One had to squeeze past other's seating to get around and it all felt like the furniture was there by accident. So personally, not a fan, but for someone who wants a beer and doesn't like bars/pubs and prefers a bit of quieter mood, good choice.

- paid 310 NOK (£26) for 2 bottles of beer (average IPA), pretty certain I’ve been conned as a “tourist”, but we know how much 1 good draught beer costs here and it’s not even close to £13, let alone a bottle - “cocktail bar” on the sign, if you ask you’ll be told it’s “just a name and we don’t actually sell cocktails” - only thing on tap was a local pilsner (sh1te) - felt about as welcome as a traveller looking for a mortgage

Among the top 5 in Bergen. Built in the Hanseatic era, their floor is NOT water leveled. No pool, air hockey or building house of cards will ever be possible here. Highly recommended! Their Chesterfield furniture makes you really relax, and you won't think about leaving before the book is read. :)

We popped into this bar for some cocktails, not knowing much about gin. Our waitress, Martine, treated us to an outstanding time -- she had a passion for gin and whipped up some amazing G&Ts. If you're looking for a good drink and personable service, make Ginial a stop!

For a gin bar its pretty surprising that when i ask for a dirty martini, that during the mixing the bartender tells me they dont have olive brine.... but the dry martini i got was okay

Bartender was rude. When we're about to leave after staying for hours there, I went to the toilet. The bartender stopped me, and tell me to ask him first before going to the toilet in a condescending tone. He said I have no manner by going to the toilet myself He was nice at first when we came into the bar, but i guess when he noticed we were leaving anyway, he revealed his true self.

Cozy atmosphere, its part of Royk BBQ restaurant and little surprised they didn't sell even small food dishes this side of restaurant. The Main BBQ place was booked out, so at least 8 customers i counted were told sorry, & left without stopping. Lost money.

Quiet compared to the local rowdy bars, with great vibe...

It is not only one building, but few. Some of them are located on the same street, one (Troldhaugen) is pretty far from this place, but also included in price. Buying the ticket you will have small brochure, where are places are marked. Depending on season, something can be closed. From all I could see on this street, only one part of the exhibition was interesting. It is the main KODE building, where you can find some norwegian artist, which were very talented. There are couple of works of Munch as well. All the rest is modern art, which I totally cannot understand.

Got reprimanded in the very first room for simply pointing at a painting — not touching, not even close. From that moment on, security followed us through the entire museum, making it impossible to relax or enjoy anything. If you're that concerned about proximity, maybe consider making your rooms larger or adding protective glass over the artwork. We came to appreciate the art, not to be treated like a threat. The heavy-handed approach completely ruined the visit. Won’t be back.

When I bought a ticket, the staff who was guiding me gave me the leaflet she had used taking notes on. I asked why she gave me the leaflet she had used. She said it was because she had to save the paper. She didn't even ask me if I was going to use an audio guide. After using the leaflet as a notepad, only visitors are told to save the paper. Her good impression of Bergen and Norway was ruined in an instant.

I'm an art buff so I quite enjoyed this building of the KODE complex featuring Norwegian painters. Edvard Munch is featured prominently, as well as several Romantic painters such as Dahl. The ground floor of the building itself was quite pretty, with some murals and furniture from the area. I looked into one other KODE building that was open while I was there (the sculpture gallery) and while they did have an interesting exhibit in one space, there was literally only one exhibit open in the whole building. Despite the closure of some buildings/wings, it's a nice place to enjoy a rainy afternoon.

Collection of 4 museums, to be honest I’ve seen better museums, but for Bergen I think it’s very good, “Last Dance” installation looks very magical, however knowing why it was created may change your vision on this installation. Other museum is about sound design, quite popular direction now, however not for everyone. Other two are paintings by famous like Edward Munch, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky and not very famous artists. Mostly avant-garde artists, however there are many works made in different styles. A lot of Norwegian artists. If you have couple free hours in Bergen, after visiting some other attractions it’s a nice place to visit. Tickets cost 150 NOK for adults and 100 NOK for Students. You can buy them in place and one tickets is for all 4 museums

It was completely unclear to me how it all worked with the various buildings, as well as the link with the Kunsthalle. Saw some great items and many so-so things. When I went to this last big white building I could hardly find the entrance and no-one there could tell me if there actually was an exposition. Toilets & lockers in need of modernization.

Every year the town of Bergen gets together and creates an unique gingerbread city. This year, the exhibition is open until 31 December. The many rooms filled with gingerbread cookie models smelled and looked amazing. There were also mobile elements such as toy trains and ferris wheels. The only detriment is that all the signs and directions are only in Norwegian, however it is easy to translate and the staff can definitely communicate in English.

Stave churches are a unique bit of architectural and ecclesiastical history. We had been to stave churches in North and South Dakota, USA and certainly did not want to miss the ones in Norway. This is a small church but well worth your time!

Genuinely beautiful restored church on outskirts of Bergen. Easy to get to from the centre of town via tram (number 1). Staff are informative and willing to answer questions!! Toilets available for free if you buy a ticket, or 30kr if not.

An impressive building totally made of wood. Although it is a rebuild, the original old church was set in fire and this is an exact copy. Very nice to see how they build those churches so long ago. It is a steep climb up the hill, but worth the effort.

This is such an iconic and interesting church. Definitely worth checking out. I think they actually have tours of the inside as well but it was closed when I went.

This a beautiful church that was rebuilt based on painting and/or picture from the general public. So this is a close reproduction of the original. Regardless, it is an awesome place.

This was a big disappointment… the church it self looks lovely but only for the people with money. The fact that the church is a replica makes it less impressive. It's simply not real. Besides, you have to pay 85 NOK to get in. Just to clarify, the church itself is almost as big as a bedroom, so you can be back outside in five minutes. I think it is a lovely tourist attraction but but don't go all the way for it! The price is just insane…

Restaurant was fully booked but they let us order dishes from the tasting menu at the bar. A beautiful place to "snack" before our dinner. Everything was beautifully done, made us wish we got res to try the full tasting experience but this was pretty exceptional on its own. Every staff was super knowledgeable and attentive! Got to meet chef Christopher as well, what a cool dude!

4 months later I’m leaving a review because of how memorable Lysverket was and how much I appreciate the staff and food. I severely injured a birth defected ankle hiking Trolltunga at Norway and their food made me temporarily take my mind off the pain. Our last night at Norway before returning back to United States, my partner and I decided to visit Lysverket. We had no expectations - we were just looking to do something special before our departure on a whim. Majority of the trip, I was barely able to walk around with severe pain using a rental car to minimize activity on my foot. I been to other Michelin Star restaurants, but the food at Lysverket absolutely blew the other restaurants food by a long shot. My partner and I were childishly licking our plates of food trying to ensure no one saw us just going absolutely ham on their food. While tasting their food, I was able to forget about the pain and those few minutes I was able to forget about the pain really meant everything. Four months later and my ankle is just now healing and oddly I still think about this restaraunt and the experience there. The staff were really down to earth, attentive and really took the time to talk to us and listen. They were just really chill people with immense talent. I met the chef, his cooks and staff. What ended up being a spontaneous decision on a whim to make the last night special, ended up being one of the most memorable days of vacation I’ve ever had. I left a generous tip because I appreciated them so much, but weeks later I kept looking for their bill and they never charged me. I don’t know why, maybe it’s because I was limping around and because I messed my ankle up on vacation at Norway. But I wanted to say to the people who were working that day and we met - thank you so much.

While not every course hit the same high note, the warmth of the service and the genuine enthusiasm from the kitchen more than made up for it. An experience that felt both intimate and thoughtfully executed.

We had a truly wonderful dinner—the food was incredibly creative. The overall flavor profile leaned toward the sour side, but each dish had elements that either contrasted with or complemented it in really surprising and delightful ways. The only thing that felt a bit off was one of the male servers. He seemed like he might be having a rough day—he avoided eye contact and rushed through the dish explanations. We wouldn’t call it rude, but it did make us feel a bit uneasy. That said, the rest of the staff, especially the girls, were absolutely lovely. You could really feel their warmth and passion for the food in the way they presented each dish.

We came to Lysverket with great anticipation. It was my birthday, and as passionate food lovers, we were hoping for a truly special evening. Sadly, the experience fell far short of expectations, both in terms of food and service. We had made the reservation for our family, including our two young daughters. During the booking process, we specifically asked if the restaurant could accommodate children, and were assured that a menu could be adapted for them. However, while the adults were served their fourth course, our children still hadn’t received their first, a complete disregard that left us disappointed and confused. In any fine dining setting, such a lack of attention to all guests, especially children, is hard to justify. The service overall felt cold and unengaged. Our main waiter came across as indifferent, even slightly arrogant, with no real interest in making us feel welcome. The first course we were served was surprisingly poor, and unfortunately set the tone for the rest of the evening. Even the better dishes that followed were forgettable, lacking finesse, identity, or any memorable flavor profile. We did not opt for the wine pairing, but we did ask for a recommendation for the best glass of red wine by the glass, what we were served was uninspiring and did nothing to elevate the meal. The atmosphere was equally disappointing. The music was loud and intrusive, completely out of place for the type of experience Lysverket seems to be aiming for. Even the restroom was unkempt, with music blaring to the point of discomfort. In the end, what should have been a joyful birthday dinner became a disappointing memory. We genuinely wanted to love Lysverket — and gave it every chance to impress — but left feeling that the restaurant is relying too heavily on its reputation without delivering the experience to match.

The fish soup changed our lives. Thank you to Alison and company for giving us such a beautiful experience. The kitchen was very helpful with questions I had. We felt very taken care of and enjoyed our night thoroughly. ❤️

The team at Lysverket knocked it out of the park. All I will say about our meal is that I have zero criticisms and thousands of compliments. Most of all, I loved this restaurant because the humans acted like humans. No pomp or pretense. Just pure good vibes—from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. It’s the kind of thing you get when good people work incredibly hard and do it for all the right reasons. The pizzas are cooked with the toast machine ( a machine like toast machine :) i cant understand how people have good comments about the pizzas. I think there are not that many options. Pretty small place. We were sitting by the door and enjoying the dusty shelves. Ventilation is extremely poor. They make pizza there (even though I wouldn't call it a pizza after I saw what they were using to "bake" it). So if you have a milk protein allergy you will not enjoy sitting there for long. Too much smell. Not a bad smell particularly, but I would rather not smell what other people were eating. Good selection of wine though.

Great little hidden place. Probably walked passed it hundreds of times and didn't know what I was missing. Very small selection of delicious pizza, they're also willing to customise them using whatever ingredients they have. Fantastic charcuterie boards with great cold meats and amazing cheeses. The wine menu is very impressive and they import the wines themselves so staff are very knowledgeable. Decent range of prices on the wines too.

Didn't try the pizza, but sat down with a small group of friends and we shared a bottle of good rosé. The place is hidden, so you have to know about it too get there, so the place isn't all that crowded either. But it seems there are seating opportunities for several large groups. The selection of wines is very good, and the owner seems to have a good passion for wines and that helps with having a good conversation. This is a place I'll return to. With friends.

Small but cozy place to hang out with friends and enjoy good food and wine. Very crowded, but that speaks to the quality of the food and drink. Of particular interest was their white pizza, which is made with a sour cream based sauce, and was delicious. Very cool place to go!

A major hidden gem off the beaten path. Mostly locals with their dogs. The food was wonderful. I had the Skagenröra hard cider and the mixed berry ice cream. Everything was fantastic. The ice cream was one of the best I've had. With fresh mixed berry preserves and a shortbread mini waffle cone. The “Skagenröra was large, with fish roe and fresh cherry tomatoes. Perfectly seasoned and lots of seafood. Healthy portion but not too big.

Wondered around streets of Bergen and accidentally found an amazing place for food. Tugged away in a neighborhood away from tourist places. Crew were polite and helpful and the food served was surprisingly great. Wasn't sure what to expect but having tried I would recommend this place. Ordered Norwegian meat and vegetable soup which was warm and nice (especially it was a cold day) and Prawn and crab plate (was plentiful and fresh). Overall a fantastic dining experience for lunch.

Meat soup was large and delicious "guy food", and the crab and prawns was served cold and fresh. You order from the bar first! Prices were high, but we expected that. The place was full at 7P, people were friendly. This is a small place in a residential area that is open late and I recommend it.

Best pub I found in Bergen with a good selection. Its about a 5-10 minute walk up the hill from the downtown area and 20 minutes from the bus/train/tram. Worth a stop for sure. Very good vibe.

I paid NOK 75 in cover charge and had just entered the bar to enjoy a nice ending of the evening with my colleagues with some karaoke. I ordered an IPA in the bar and the bartender placed my glass partly on top of a built up ledge of the bar counter. This resulted of course in my beer falling over and spilling all over me and the bar. All good, accidents happen. When I asked the bartender to top off my beer, she said that I was not the first this had happened to but that she would not fill up or replace my beer. I would have to talk to the boss the next day. 1. Horrible customer service 2. Even worse design of a bar counter, and the bartender caused this. I have lived in this city for 50 years, and this was probably my second visit here, due to a bad reputation in town. I will never come back!

If you want beer, they have it. We stopped in for a beer in the afternoon and it definitely has an interesting vibe. There was a guy asleep on the table behind us. 😀 I'd imagine this place gets "interesting" in the evenings!

Staff is ok and it has a good location. Unfortunately the security personnel is not friendly. Bathroom is very tiny and not the cleanest. The customers are usually regular drunks.

Not entirely sure of the food or drinks as we didn’t stay once we saw the prices for some of the games (see image). It had a good atmosphere though, and the staff were friendly. There was trivia from 7pm Tuesdays and music bingo I think on Wednesdays. Not sure about other days. To play billiards, it was 4kr/minute, or 240/game. That’s about 20€, or about 15x I’ve paid for a game in living memory. Though there seemed a few people enjoying a game of shuffleboard and billiards, that price made us leave, sadly.

Got here relatively early as ran out of things to do in Bergen and the thought of playing some pool for a bit was welcomed, but it was very expensive as they charge per minute. I would expect that if it was busy or peak times, but when there is hardly anyone else in the bar (and I mean a handful of people not even playing pool), the price should be cheaper. Overall though, it had a good variety of activities (darts, table tennis etc) and could see it being fun in the evening when busier, but the high price for playing games was extortionate.

One of the best places in Bergen to hang out with your friends for beer and games. Food is good and not so expensive. Beer tastes good. Sometimes you can get great deals on snacks and can get good quantity for lower price. Although it's very spacious but gets crowded during weekends.

Not exactly as I expected. Maybe it was the white table cloth that stuck out like a sore thumb, maybe it was but two whiskey cocktails listed on the menu with a Manhattan made with actual cherry liquor and tasted like an over the top sweet dessert wine. Both soups that we ordered were very good. They do not serve pizza at all (that is a 4 year old pic online).

Nice restaurant but understaffed. Went there twice during our stay in Bergen. The 2nd time we left without ordering anything as it had been 40 minutes and no one even looked in our direction. We are always patient and courteous when dining out but the restaurant was not very busy and the staff seemed almost annoyed when anyone walked in during both of our experiences. The first night was busier so we were understanding but after a 2nd poor experience we took our business elsewhere

Better known as Terminus Whisky bar, Bar Amundsen is the place to go in Bergen if you are thirsty for some whisky! Looking like a high class bar from the 1930’s with smooth jazz playing in the background the bar sets the perfect mood! And the whisky selection is excelent! Let me put it this way: they have a ladder in the bar that they need to access the entirety of their many bottles of whisky!

Excellent and diverse whiskey selection with prices that were fair compared to US equivilancy (when I can even find some of these rare bottles over there). Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely one of my favorite places in Bergen. Staff was professional and friendly.

Hands down the best whisky bar I've ever seen. I would give this place ten stars if I could. We were fortunate enough to get a couple seats at the bar and let Simon take care of us for a couple hours. After asking a few questions about my tastes and what I was looking for, he guided me through four incredible glasses (Glenrothes 18, St. Magdalene 28 distilled in 1982, Rosebank 21 distilled in 1990, and a Bunnahabhain 36 distilled in 1974). They have an absurd selection including older vintages, many independent bottlings, and closed distilleries. Simon was adept at suggesting unique, delicious pours, and, incredibly, the bill didn't break the bank. The price for the four pours (and a glass of prosecco) was less than you could ever find a glass of any of the last three whiskys in the states (if you could even find them). Truly a wonderful experience for anyone who appreciates whisky. After drinking over-priced beers and wine most of my stay in Bergen, I wish I would've just come straight to Amundsen.

Visiting this attraction was definitely an experience. Located on the outskirts of town, the setting felt a bit unusual and slightly out of place. The concept is clever, but it leans toward the cheesy side, and I had expected a bit more based on the online photos, which make it look more impressive than it actually is. Admission was around $30 per person, though I later learned that a Bergen Card offers a discount, which would’ve been nice to know beforehand. Upon arrival, they provide warm poncho-style coats and gloves, which are absolutely necessary. because you’re essentially stepping into a giant freezer. The ice sculptures are creative and change periodically,. Unfortunately, some were broken during our visit, likely due to wear and tear from guests. Adding to the disappointment, the machine that makes the signature ice glasses was out of order that night, so we missed out on that part of the experience. The bartender did mention the drinks were larger as a result, which was a small consolation. Drink options were fun, but don’t expect too much as they are on the light side. I also agree with other reviewers, in that the staff could bring more energy and enthusiasm, which would go a long way in enhancing the overall vibe. All in all, it’s a quirky stop that’s worth checking out if you’re curious, but temper your expectations.

Its a nice place. The staff are very kind too. Depending on the package you buy you may have a drink included but you can buy more. Before entry you are given a big coat and gloves, ready for the cold. The room consists of ice sculptures and walls. The drinks taste amazing too. The staff are very kind too. If you like this place I would also recommend the one in Stockholm as its designs change annually.

From the outside it doesn't look like anything fancy.. but getting into the building, staff was great. Service was good. You can opt for just the welcome drink, or upgrade to the welcome drink and a drink of your choice on the menu. You are given the proper gear (heavy coat and gloves) all included in your ticket price. Once inside, it us just super. I recommend.. you can get out to warm up if u need, and then head back inside as many times as you want. Loved the experience

What a fabulous place! You're only in for half an hour. It's kept at a cool minus 5 degrees. The ice sculptures are amazing. Whem you go in you are given fleece lined heavy ponchos and gloves to wear. An alcoholic or non alcoholic drink is included. We went as part of a city tour. This was in Bergen. Worth going for the experience.

Visited as a cruise excursion so didn't have a great deal if time here. I would have stayed a lot longer, it was fantastic definitely a tick on my bucket list. The staff were fantastic and so welcoming. If you get a chance to visit not only this city but this ice bar you are very lucky indeed.

A fantastic fish soup, probably the best I’ve ever had. Althought it’s hard for me to give five stars for the plating choice. The soup was served in an old plastic bowl that needed to retire probably a couple years ago at this point. The plastic on the walls of the bowl was coming off, the bottom was all scraped. A shame to ruin such a delicious dish and the freshness of its ingredients with an old and ruined bowl, also considering the price paid, not cheap. Guys, throw the bowl away! The atmosphere was cozy and I could sit there with my computer for a while.

We ordered the pasta from daily special, made with potato and with unique flavor, the toasted almond thins gave it another layer of complexity, very well cooked. The fish stew has a southeast Asian twist, you’ll like it if you like Tom yum soup. The bread and butter was surprising good, the butter is airy and fluffy (possibly made with pesto flavor?). All in all, we enjoyed all dishes ordered. Great location and view with reasonable price!

My home away from home! I visited every night I was in Bergen and had the best time! A very warm and friendly atmosphere, made so by Frederick the smart, friendly and welcoming bartender. I played chess with the locals and made new friends who welcomed me to their circle and I ended up rooting for their local football team, got great cycling advice. It really made my trip to Bergen special and memorable and looking forward to returning to my new Cheers bar!

Biskopen has a good beer and ale selection, great atmosphere, and friendly bar staff. There are only 2 things that stop it from being 5/5 and that's that the decor is getting a bit tired and it doesn't open before 6pm which can make after work beers problematic, but other than that this place is great and I recommend it.

This place is a really cute bar with a chill, vintage vibe, one of our favorite places in Bergen. The owner is super friendly. Good selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. They just got a pizza oven and we tried the margherita pizza which was really delicious. It was a thin crust pizza with fresh quality ingredients, just as good as Italy!

Lampemannen is a cozy little bar with a really fun and unique vibe. The theme of lamps everywhere might sound quirky, but it works and gives the place a warm atmosphere. The drink options are solid, with a good variety to choose from, and everything we tried was well made. A nice spot to relax, enjoy a drink, and take in the unusual but charming décor. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in Bergen.

Our whole family enjoyed it, and we spent at least 2–3 hours here. From the outside it may seem like there isn’t much, but inside there is a lot to see, and you also need to go down to the basement levels… There are also two cinemas – one smaller and one larger, set up like a real movie theater. The marine life on display is very extensive.

Really nice aquarium, three floors for the fishes, penguins in a quite small habitat (for so many), two seals, and two otters that we didn’t get to see😢 even tho the place was nice I don’t think it was worth the 800kr for two adults… it wasn’t really a wow experience that would make me want to come back tbh

Great experience for the kids and elders alike. Nature’s aquatic beauty showcased beautifully for all to appreciate and learn at the same time … amazing experience .. penguins and sea lions playing and swimming around are surely an added bonus … not to forget the crocs and the other big reptiles ..

Nice aquarium based attraction. Can be busy when cruise ships are in town. Worth a look at a reasonable price, good to see the penguins, sea lions, otters, crocodiles and loads of other sea crearures

Nice experience. You can see penguins, otters and marine lions in their habitat, and many other kinds of fishes and reptiles. Animals seem in good condition and the staff take care of them

Tge restaurant serve different kind of sausages. I noticed in the previous days that there were lines in front of the restaurant, the staff have a nice and supportive character to serve food, the employee explained to me that there are several different types of sausages, including reindeer meat sausage and the other lamb meat sausage as well as sausage pork. The employee advised me to try reindeer meat sausage by adding berry sauce and mustard sauce with ketchup with caramelized onions, and it was a very unique and delicious experience. The prices are very suitable for the experience. I highly recommend trying the place because it was very special.

It’s a great sausage for a very fair price. Convenient, tasty, and fast. The reindeer sausage with lingonberry jam and fried onions is delicious. I came back a second time to get one for a quick lunch. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s a very good hot dog for not too much, at extreme convenience.

The hype around this place is greatly deserved. They have a huge selection of options and everything is fantastic. The food is fresh, warm and delicious. The staff are kind, friendly and helpful. If you cannot choose - I'd recommend a traditional reindeer hot dog with jam, mustard and fried onions. With working hours until 3-4am, you can definitely grab a snack after a long night out.

We had seen reviews of this iconic sausage stand on you tube and online and wanted to give it a try. We asked for the best seller and we got the reindeer sausage with berries,fried onions, mustard and ketchup. It was delicious. The service was super friendly and there was only a very short wait when we were there( 11.30am). It would have been nice if there had been an awning to stand under to protect us from the rain. We ended up standing outside the convenience store across the street. This is a definite must try when you are in Bergen. Enjoy!!

Definitely a must try if you are visiting Bergen. Was hesitant to try the reindeer hot dog at first but still went ahead to order anyway. It wasn’t gamy. The toppings that consists of jam, fried onions and mustard combination went surprisingly well. It was a delightful snack!

Went here on the first day of my 3 day Bergen stay and liked it so much that I ended up going there on the next 2 days as well. Highly recommend their chilli cheese sausage hot dog. The lamb sausage was outstanding as well.

Gotta check out this famous hot dog stand and it did not disappoint. The line moved quickly, and the reindeer hotdog itself was really. I loved the crunchy fried shallot on top. Definitely cannot miss if you’re in Bergen.

Just besides of the famous local fish market and we enjoyed the creamy fish soup there at Bjerck! The staff are all warm hearted, the atmosphere there is quiet and comfortable.

We had a table right in front of the window. The view is amazing. I had the vegetarian version of the Classic brunch board and my boyfriend had The "Bergenser" brunch board. We both really liked it. The price is reasonable by Norwegian standards.

I got the 3 course menu, the starter was saltier than I’d like and the dessert was ‘t anything special, but the main was incredible! We got a table right next to the window so we had an excellent view of Bergen which was very pleasant.

We are a little conflicted about what to write down in the review. There were some great things. My halibut was super tasty. My sisters cod was not warm, and the vegetables were cold and hard. Pitifully, we did attempt to flag down a waiter, but he didn't do anything about it. The dessert didn't match the description. Service was slow. Expensive.

If you’re looking for a lunch spot with a view in Bergen, Bjerck delivers on location—but not on value or pace. The food was fine, but the service dragged and the prices felt inflated. My partner and I came in for lunch and ordered the chicken Caesar. It was decent—nothing standout, but fresh and well-prepared. The issue was timing. Service moved slowly, and our server seemed stretched thin. It looked like they were handling too many tables at once, which made it hard to flag someone down when we needed anything. The wine pours were small, and each one cost more than $16 USD. My salad ran about $28. At those prices, you’d expect a more polished experience or something memorable. This wasn’t that. It felt more like a view-premium than a food or service one. To be clear—nothing was terrible. But for a quick lunch, this felt too slow and too expensive. If you’re short on time or watching your budget, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Had a corner table with the view towards Torget and Fløyen. We where 7 people that had a range of dinners and everyone where pleased with the food and service. Personally I shared the Kveitekotelett with on other. That in itself was a bit too much cooked and lacking salt to my tast (no salt on the tables) so just a bit underwhelming. On the other hand I had their Tiramisu as dessert and it was perfect, higher than my expectations, coming from someone that always chooses it when available. I will come back, but go for a more secure choice for main course. Call / order ahead for a window table.

Supposedly the oldest intact building in Bergen Norway. I recommend visiting late afternoon or early evening on a clear day so that the western-facing facade, which is the main entrance, is getting full sun.

Just a beautiful church with a really peaceful ambience. Day one there for almost an hour, and apart from the inevitable people coming in talking loudly and on the phone, had a very nice time of reflection. This was my favourite church on my Scandinavian jaunt.

Beautiful church inside and out. The art is very intricate and the organ was really a sight to see. Tickets were around $13 Canadian. Definitely worth it to go inside for a look. Small gift shop with some post cards of the church and hand made soap. Overall would recommend as a stop during your trip. We did the apart of a self guided walking tour!

Št Mary`s church is the oldest existing building in Bergen. To judge by its architectural style, it was probably built between 1130 and 1170.

We came in at 5:00 PM, which is a bit early for dinner there, but we had been traveling all day and had not had lunch. Thomas could not have been nicer and let us be the first guests for the evening in the dining room. Service was fabulous and dinner delicious. We had langostinos for a starter and my friend had the wolf fish and I had the green risotto. We came back the next evening for a drink in the bar in front. Also excellent.

This is my honest review of the restaurant Colonialen Litt in Bergen, Norway. This restaurant, located in the heart of Bergen not far from the fish market, offers a truly unique concept. It blends a restaurant and bar with an artist’s residence and library, creating an atmosphere that feels both creative and relaxed. Inside, you’ll find artistic touches and frescoes, while large windows give you a view of murals on nearby buildings. The service was extremely friendly and welcoming, and the semi-open kitchen allows you to watch the chefs at work. We especially enjoyed the small lobster-like crustaceans served with toasted bread – very simple, but delicious. Other dishes we tried included salmon with potatoes, vegetables, and a light sauce; pork with a piquant sauce, mushrooms, and vegetables; and another fish served with broccoli and vegetables. To finish, we had a creative take on lemon tart, which was refreshing and well executed. Portions are on the smaller side, and prices are somewhat on the slightly higher end, but the overall experience – with its artistic setting, warm service, and tasty food – makes this a place worth visiting if you are in Bergen.

No reservation on a saturday, such a tourist move (that’s on us). Three of us if you include our baby boy so yeah of course fully booked but the very kind hostess offered the sofa - which I can really appreciate. Thinking in function of the restaurant and customer experience. It was great. Good atmosphere, vibrant and young staff and no nonsense good food. We will be back in Bergen, and we will be back in Litthus!

Tried their bubbles tasting with 6 types of sparkling in around 1,5 hours. Great selection so you a really got around to try. Entertaining and educational sommelier. Was a bit speedy for my taste, but not a rush.

By far the most delicious gastronomic experience in Bergen. Such delicious and creative food with plenty of tastes and textures, and such amazing service. The visibly open kitchen with chefs cooking in front of your eyes - speaks for itself. This restaurant for sure deserves many Michelin stars!!!!

Had a business lunch, and the waiter is not very responsive. Food is simple for lunch but decent, thus 4 stars. Their egg benedict looks great, but unfortunately I went for the mussels. I make better mussels so it didnt impress me much. Interior is not great, but if you like rustic style it is fine. Therefor only 3 stars for ambient and interior and 2-3 stars for service.

Museum about maritime, particularly boat models & boat history (primarily Norwegian boats/ships). There are also sections that describe life as a sailor, ship salvages, and a 'funny' history of England attacking Dutch merchant boats in Bergen harbour. They have a cinema too which played history about Viking ship and burial when I visited. It's a small-medium museum, takes about 1 hour if you like boats, <1 hour if you don't like boats. This museum is all about boat models and replicas. They have locker service free of charge.

Primarily interested in the Viking ship exhibition and really enjoyed the short film and excellent scale models of the Viking vessels they had. The museum is a good size, not taking to long to walk around.

It was small, clean, and a decent history of the fishing industry. The 2nd floor is mostly models of ships across the ages. My husband liked it, I was bored.

This museum is very cool, there’s a huge variety of artefacts and models to suit a wide range of interests. It wasn’t too busy either, with plenty of space to read about the exhibits, take pictures, and generally enjoy the place. Excellent English language access, and a very cool app to enhance access.

The museum covers the maritime history of Norway dating from BC 7500 to modern-day shipping and the importance of Bergen in global shipping. The museum is well laid out in a linear history. There is a short movie on Viking ship/burials highlighting several archeological sites. All displays are in Norwegian and English. Up to 2 hours or more if you love to dive in and read everything.

For a thorough look, you should count two hours for this interesting museum. The entry ticket is a bit expensive (150 kr for adult). The exhibition is arranged in chronological order, and contains a lot of beautifully detailed ship models. The staff are very nice.

A very beautiful park with a great variety of plants, nice statues and a pond! It’s a quiet place to sit and enjoy the view and surrounding nature.

This garden is simply beautiful and makes a relaxing walk in the park. It features fountains, playgrounds, benches, and even grilling sections. There are many up and down hills, making it a great place to walk, but there are also plenty of benches to take a break. There’s an ice cream truck (stand) with a small seating area.

Beautiful park in the sentre of Bergen. It is a very old park and that can be seen in the size of many of the trees. Bring your children and play in the park, watch the birds, relax on a bench.

Bergen Kino is the best movie theatre in Bergen. Excellent selection of movies - ranging from blockbusters to unknowns. Staff is really nice. Seats are newly renovated and generally spacious.

KP1 is a fantastic cinema hall with luxurious adjustable and heated seats. Lean back, enjoy a great film or rest your eyes looking up at the 🌟🌟🌟🌟 ceiling.

Beautiful view over Bergen's harbour, especially for sunset. The food was fresh and affordable. After dinner we went to the cinema - cozy with comfortable seats. Great place altogether. Lots of art and small artisans.

A cultural centre located in an old sardine canning factory. Visited on a weekend during Summer and the place is uncrowded. The restaurant has a panoramic view of the harbour but food at the restaurant did not look appealing. There is an outdoor bar stocked with a large variety of drinks. There was an abstract & bizzare art performance taking place outside the building during our visit. Expect 15-20 mins walk from the city centre.

An old sardine canning factory a little away from central Bergen. It has been re-purposed as an arts complex and has live bands as well as its own cinema. I liked the building in its own right and its location on the edge of the fjord. There’s a cafe there too.
