The Palace of Versailles, also known as Chateau de Versailles, is an immense 18th-century palace adorned with gilded apartments and the famous Hall of Mirrors. The palace's indoor spaces are intricately linked to its gardens, all designed to glorify the monarch. Construction began in 1661 and was completed by 1682, with subsequent revisions made by French monarchs over the centuries.
This palace is iconic and a must visit while visiting Paris! This palace is so grand and huge that you start to understand why the French Revolution took off while walking around. This palace is very magnificent and gorgeous. There is so much detail put into the architecture, the paintings, garden, and rooms. You should buy tickets ahead of time while coming here and plan to spend the majority of your day here. Be aware of the massive crowds, they can be really big and you may feel like a packed sardine in some of the rooms here.

The Versailles Castle is a beautiful building with stunning views but if you only have a little time in Paris this is not a must see. The inside has some stunning rooms with beautiful furniture and paintings. The view of the garden from the second floor is exceptional. The gardens and lakes are a really good choice if you’re visiting with your family. The only downside of the palace are the giant crowds in the rooms and by the toilets, so you have to be patient. The tickets were about 60€ for adults and 0€ for children (Attention! The garden is not free for children, it’s 10€)

Versailles is such an amazing place to visit. We her comfortable shoes as there is a lot to see we loved seeing the gorgeous interior of Versailles and actually ate at the restaurant for breakfast so we can get skip your line tickets, which were definitely worth it. Then visiting the gardens was beautiful too definitely recommend taking the little train out to the petit Trion and Gran Trion and the little village with all the animals or you can always rent golf carts.
I P — Google review
We went to see Palace of Versailles as a group. The place is beautiful. The gardens are equally impressive and massive; renting a golf. We rented a golf cart, it was well worth the money to explore comfortably. We made reservations in advance, we waited around 20–30 minutes to get inside. Everything was impressive. The negative part is the crown inside. But once in the garden it was so much better.
Paul S — Google review
This was one of the most impressive places I have seen with my own eyes! I have a landscape engineering degree and the palace gardens were often referred to in books, by teachers and were always a source of inspiration. I’m really glad I got to see them in real life. My partner proposed on a boat on the canal, it was all very romantic (I said yes!). The palace interior and expositions were also quite impressive, I was in awe the whole time.
Alina L — Google review
It’s a beautiful place. Don’t have enough words to describe it. So instead j will provide some tips. Order your tickets online. They form two big lines for the 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 etc and another for the 9, 10, 11. Show up 1/2 hour earlier and they will still let you in. Be ready to pay for audio guide(€9) and a cart-train ride(€8) to the lake at the end of the gardens. From were you will have to pay another €5 to take you to the homes of the king. Or rent a golf cart for 4 passengers for €40/ hr. Bring a water bottle and snacks . Or be ready to walk a lot. They also have a couple of restaurants near the lake if you prefer. Be ready to walk a lot and spend at least 5 hours inside the palace.
Francisco M — Google review
Crowded. Some of the Madames quarters were closed off. However, the history is magnificent. We did not have time for the gardens so that was disappointing. If you are a history buff, you will love it. It was beautiful, but the parts we actually gotta see were not that much considering such a huge complex. However, it's worth it if yiu have time to fit it in. My expectations were higher than what we actually saw.
Lisa H — Google review
Obviously, Versailles is an amazing monument to the human pursuit of beauty and conspicuous consumption. This needs no further comment. I knocked a point because Versailles fails a bit as a museum. I have no issues with the signs being mostly in French (it is easy to translate them with a smart phone), but there weren’t enough informational signs in general. Often the signs were about the art on the walls, which while interesting, were not what I came to Versailles to see. I think to really get a good idea of how the actual palace was used and how that evolved over the years, you either need to go to the gift shop first and buy a guide book or pay to have a guided tour with a tour company. The audio guide may have given me the information I wanted, but the apps audio tours were also a touch disappointing, so I wouldn’t count on that. ON THE OTHER HAND, the gardens were worth the trip. Gorgeous. Beautiful. No notes. And here the audio on the app told me the sorts of things I wanted to know about the construction and design. The gardens were also less crowded once you stepped off the main thoroughfare. I highly, highly recommend seeing the gardens.

The Hall of Mirrors is a lavish 17th-century gallery located in the Chateau de Versailles, designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. This ornate hall features arched mirrors, chandeliers, oil paintings, and gilded sculptures, creating a grand atmosphere for royal celebrations and masked balls.
Hall of Mirrors is the most famous and beautiful room of Versailles palace. It runs along the palace main wing on the first floor overlooking the gardens. It is lavishly decorated in mirrors (as the name says), gilded statues and marvelous chandeliers. Beside its beauty the room is known as the place where the peace treaty was signed ending the WWI. We've been lucky being there on a cloudy Jan day just before the closing time with very few people, having it almost to ourselves (see the pics)
Dejan B — Google review
An excellent example of art of opulence, and how it's blending of the paintings, frescoes, sculptures, and mirrors makes this a grand section of the palace. Word of advice, go to the far end of the hall to get a better photo opportunity
Adie K — Google review
It was magnificent. I didn't know where to look because each part was breathtaking. It was the most crowded room after the king's chamber.
Nora S — Google review
Hall of Mirrors is the most elegant & glamorous room in the Palace of Versailles. The sight this hall creates when sunlight peeps through windows & lighten up the hall with intricate pieces of arts & mirrors is just magical. The ceilings are also covered with intricate arts.
Himantha A — Google review
After seeing this I considered a complete renovation and redecoration of my own slightly more modest abode. But then I realized: I don't want to live that life, I want to live my life. Plus, remodels are a complete Pira.
Eric R — Google review
Nothing prepares you for the Hall of Mirrors. You step in and it’s pure gold, light, and grandeur — a place so over-the-top it almost feels unreal. The chandeliers catch the daylight pouring in from the arched windows, reflecting across 357 mirrors. And that ceiling? A heavenly opera of painted glory and divine ego. I had seen a million photos of it before visiting, but standing inside it hits different. It’s not just a room, it’s a statement — about wealth, power, ambition, and the sheer audacity of French Baroque.
Axel — Google review
Nice mirrors, terrible hospitality — they made my buddies (Müller and Bell) sign some papers here...another friend of them with cute mustache didn't like it and joined politics in Germany..!
Nitesh — Google review
The Hall of Mirrors has seen so much. It was where the Treaty of Versailles, that ended WWI and arguably started WWII was signed. It was where the German Empire started in 1871. It was where Kim and Kanye hosted their rehearsal dinner here back in 2014, arguably the most important historical event that took place here to date. The thing that stuck with me the most though on the tour here, was when the mob of peasants marched on the Palace of Versailles in 1789 and saw themselves for the first time in these mirrors. Obviously they had seen their reflections in bodies of water here and there, but this had to be the first time they’d really got a good look at themselves. That just completely blew my mind. It sent me into a full existential crisis. It got me thinking about life back then compared to now. What would life be like if we could never see ourselves? Probably much better. We’d never really worry about whether we look good or not. I’d get so much time back in the day. Could be way more productive. But then I realized I’d more than likely be a peasant, getting shafted by the French government left and right. You’d only know what they want you to know. You’d just be busting your ass on the farm all day, giving loot to the government and getting damn near nothing in return. But maybe I’d be happier? Life was so much simpler… and I am happiest in the simple times, when I’m not worried about what I could be doing to push my tech sales career forward. Who knows. I go back and forth all day. I’m eternally grateful to be born at the time I am, but maybe I’d be happier with life being so much simpler? Everything involves some sort of sacrifice. See what the Hall of Mirrors did to me? Sent me down this crazy spiral smh. IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

The Gardens of Versailles are a vast 17th-century ornamental palace garden, covering 800 hectares of land. They feature orange trees, canals, statues, and fountains. Visitors are advised to explore the secretive gardens and groves on the left and right sides for hidden spots and sculptures. The Orangery's parterre is also worth visiting in summer to see various trees spread out in the French formal garden.
What a magnificent garden !!! wish we had more time to explore it and enjoy the view . There was quite a long queue for the golf cart rentals, and a driver’s license was required. The cost wasn’t cheap either: €42 per vehicle per hour, plus €10.50 for every additional 15 minutes. Instead, we opted for two tickets on the hop-on, hop-off mini train, which turned out to be a great choice. The ride took about 50 minutes for a full lap around the garden and was a wonderful way to see the grounds. It’s definitely worth coming back just to spend more time in the gardens and at the Grand Trianon.
Matthew — Google review
Beautiful gardens with a very easy to understand map to get around! We were disappointed to see most fountains were off, aside from the 3 that are part of the Musical Gardens display, but the beauty of the well-kempt grounds made up for that! A nice plus was being able to being our supplies to have a picnic spread in a designated area.
Marlene R — Google review
Visiting the Gardens of Versailles and the Grand Canal was an amazing experience. The scale and beauty of the gardens are truly stunning. Designed by André Le Nôtre in the 17th century for Louis XIV, they show the king’s wish for order, balance, and perfection. Every path, tree, and fountain is carefully planned, making the entire space look 1st-class and top-class amazing from every angle. Walking through the gardens, you can really feel their history. This is where kings, queens, and courtiers once strolled, surrounded by sculptures, flowerbeds, and water features. The fountains, some of which still use the original water system, are breath-taking when they are running. The symmetry and precision of the layout make the gardens one of the most impressive examples of classical French design ever created. The Grand Canal, stretching more than a kilometer, is one of the most superb parts of Versailles. It was used for boating and royal events, and even now, you can rent a small boat to enjoy the calm water and perfect views of the palace. Standing there, looking back toward the palace, you understand why the Gardens of Versailles are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The combination of the gardens and the Grand Canal makes Versailles not only one of the most beautiful palaces in the world but also home to one of the most remarkable landscapes ever designed. It’s a place of harmony, history, and elegance—truly breath-taking to visit. Mame sure you have a suitablr footwear on as there is a lot of walking around through the grounds.
Przemyslaw K — Google review
We spent nearly two hours strolling through the garden, and it was a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Despite the summer heat, the shade from the trees, the coolness of the water features, and the lush greenery made the experience thoroughly enjoyable. The fountains, each uniquely designed, added unparalleled elegance, while intricately carved marble statues dotted the landscape. Some sections of the garden feature patterned lawns that create breathtaking views from the tops of wide staircases. As you walk along the path, the distant view of the palace adds to the grandeur. Overall, it was a lovely and leisurely walk through an opulent garden, beautifully maintained and rich in detail.
Sandeepa D — Google review
These Gardens are absolutely spectacular, but make sure you wear comfy shoes as they literally go on for miles. Thankfully, we took the train that took us around and dropped us off at different places. Otherwise I can’t even imagine. I will say we spent a whole day here at the palace in the gardens and I would definitely come back to explore the gardens anymore because I feel like we didn’t see half of it.
I P — Google review
Gorgeous manicured gardens, with sprawling mazes and beautiful fountains and statuary. You can blissfully wander for hours, finding new alcoves and statuary. It can get very hot with limited shade in some areas. I recommend bringing a hat or umbrella for shade. The fountains only run on the weekends, and the crowds were about the same when we were there on a Thursday and then the following Saturday.
Demetria R — Google review
Here's the deal: If you are doing the ride all the way to Versailles, just pay to see the gardens as well. The palace is gorgeous, but it is only made more impressive thanks to it's MASSIVE gardens. Take into consideration that if you do see the gardens, Versailles will basically be a full day trip for you, so if you really are running around trying to see everything in Paris and are dying to see Versailles, I would say to skip Versailles entirely and just come on a second trip, since the gardens are actually worth it. Think this: if you do both the palace and the gardens, your time will go up to 3-4 hours total in Versailles, maybe more if you walk all the way to Marie Antoinette's residence. Considering the ride there and back, you will end up using around 6 hours, instead of 3, if you only did the castle. Long story short: the ride there alone makes the gardens worth it.
Humberto B — Google review
The Gardens of Versailles are absolutely breathtaking — a true masterpiece of royal grandeur and elegance. Walking through these magnificent grounds, you can truly feel the majestic spirit of the French kings and queens who once roamed here. Every corner is adorned with lush greenery, exquisite sculptures, and perfectly manicured flowerbeds that tell stories of a regal past. A little tip: renting a golf cart is definitely worth it to explore the vast gardens with ease and soak in all the enchanting views without getting too tired. Did you know that the gardens span over 800 hectares and include over 50 fountains, many of which are powered by a complex hydraulic system designed in the 17th century? A marvel of engineering and art combined! If you love history, beauty, and royal charm, this place is an absolute must-visit!

La Flottille is a classic French brasserie located in Versailles, offering traditional French cuisine in a charming setting. The restaurant overlooks the Grand Canal and provides a peaceful atmosphere for visitors to relax and enjoy their meal. With both indoor and outdoor dining areas, guests can savor their food while taking in picturesque views of the canal and the chateau. Additionally, La Flottille caters to groups with a maximum capacity of 200 people.
After visiting the palace and gardens, we had lunch at La Flottille, where we had reserved a table when buying our Versailles tickets - i do recommend it. The service was absolutely top-notch – 10/10. Our waiter was extremely kind and attentive can even say one of the best ever. Alongside our meal, we enjoyed a bottle of excellent wine and a truly delicious dessert. A perfect way to relax and recharge after hours of walking. Highly recommended if you’re spending the day at Versailles!
Sebastjan S — Google review
Our recent dining experience, based on a pre-arranged set menu, showcased satisfactory food quality. The French fries were particularly well-prepared, exhibiting a desirable balance of crispness and texture. The fish and sausage dishes were acceptable. Service was adequate, and the restaurant accommodated a sizable number of patrons. The establishment's central location proved convenient.

We were able to walk in for lunch without a reservation but it was late after 13:30. We were seated on the patio which was lovely except for wasps. The food came out really quickly. I had the Onion Soup and it was great. My family had fish and chips and it was good. The bar inside is really beautiful. It was a nice relaxing lunch to break up our walk to the Trianon estates.

It's a perfectly located restaurant in the garden of versailles by the lake. What more do you want? Amazing French restaurant offering interesting meals at a reasonable price. The waiters seemed so hectic and was a bit hard to watch and also hard to get their attention but when we do, they are amazing. Loved every minute here.

Damn incredible vibe, food and staff. Unexpectedly high quality for inside a tourist attraction. Definitely come here for lunch on your Versailles visit you won’t regret it,

Excellent place for a delicious lunch near Versailles! Staff is friendly and service is quick. It can get extremely busy at lunch, so I recommend arriving earlier than 1 pm to secure a table if you don't have a reservation. There are tables inside and outside near the lake. Highly recommend sitting outside when weather permits!
Lauren C — Google review
The place seems interested only in the flow of tourists, not in their experience. The service is rushed, lacking professionalism and attention, and unfortunately, the food does not meet expectations. An experience focused more on quantity than on quality.

Petit Trianon is a restored estate in Versailles, once the retreat for various royals seeking respite from palace life. Originally built for Louis XV and his mistress, it was later gifted to Marie Antoinette by Louis XVI. The neoclassical chateau and landscaped gardens offer a glimpse into the lives of French monarchy.
The visit to the Petit Trianon was a truly special moment. It's fascinating to discover this place which, for Marie-Antoinette, was a genuine escape. You feel a more intimate and personal atmosphere, as if you're stepping into her secret world, far from the pomp of the court. The charm of the building, the elegant simplicity of the interiors, and of course, the walk through the gardens, creates an enchanting interlude that beautifully contrasts with the rest of the Versailles estate. It offers such a different perspective on history a more human, almost personal, one.
Nass E — Google review
The gardens surrounding the site are well-maintained and add significant aesthetic value to the environment. The buildings themselves complement the landscaped areas, contributing to an overall pleasant and inviting atmosphere. One notable issue observed is that the fountains are currently not operational. This represents a significant lapse, as the absence of functioning water features detracts from the intended experience and diminishes the visual appeal of the grounds.
Goran Š — Google review
5/5 ⭐ – Petit Trianon, Versailles A beautiful part of Versailles and a much calmer experience compared to the main palace. The Petit Trianon is elegant but more intimate, giving a better sense of how the royals lived day to day. The surrounding gardens and pathways are peaceful and perfect for a relaxed walk without the overwhelming crowds. Historical details inside are well preserved, and the atmosphere feels authentic. Easy to combine with a visit to the Grand Trianon, and both give a fuller picture of Versailles beyond the palace. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy Versailles at a slower pace.
Kareem A — Google review
A very nice place to visit. Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon are next to each other. I walk from the Versailles Palace all the way to them took me 45 minutes but there is a shuttle also that you can take it's on the tight side of the Palace. 5€ one way and you wait around 10, 15 minutes to come.
G R — Google review
The Petit Trianon is one of the most interesting places to visit at Versailles. It’s smaller and more personal than the main palace or even the Grand Trianon, and it has a very special atmosphere. The building was originally constructed in the 1760s for Madame de Pompadour, the favorite of King Louis XV, but it’s most famous for being later used by Queen Marie Antoinette. Marie Antoinette made the Petit Trianon her private retreat. She came here to escape the strict life of the royal court and to spend time with a small circle of friends. Inside, you can see beautifully restored rooms — the bedroom of the Queen, dining room, music salon, and other private chambers. The decoration is elegant but much simpler than in the main palace, with delicate furniture, light colors, and floral motifs that reflect the queen’s taste. Outside, the gardens are one of the highlights. Marie Antoinette had them redesigned in the English style, very different from the formal French gardens of Versailles. There are winding paths, small bridges, streams, and the famous Hameau de la Reine — a small “village” built to look like a rustic countryside hamlet. It’s fascinating to see how much effort went into creating a place that felt natural and simple, even though it was made for royalty. The Petit Trianon is about a 20 minute walk from the Grand Trianon, or you can reach it by the petit train that runs through the park. The visit takes around 45 minutes to an hour, especially if you explore the gardens and the hamlet nearby. I found the Petit Trianon to be one of the most peaceful and human parts of Versailles. It gives a real sense of who Marie Antoinette was beyond the image of a queen — someone who wanted a bit of privacy, nature, and beauty in her own space.
Przemyslaw K — Google review
Marie Antoinette’s Estate, located within the expansive grounds of the Château de Versailles, is one of the most enchanting and historically rich destinations in France. A serene and thoughtfully designed retreat, the estate offers visitors a deeply personal glimpse into the private world of France’s most iconic queen. Unlike the formal grandeur of the main palace, Marie Antoinette’s Estate—including the Petit Trianon, the Queen’s Hamlet (Hameau de la Reine), and the surrounding English gardens—was conceived as a secluded escape from court life. It stands as a testament to the Queen’s desire for simplicity, nature, and intimacy during a time of political and social complexity. The Petit Trianon is a neoclassical gem, modest in scale but rich in detail. The interiors are remarkably preserved, reflecting Marie Antoinette’s refined taste and preference for elegance without excess. Each room is meticulously decorated and gives insight into her personal life, far removed from the ceremonial rigidity of Versailles. The Queen’s Hamlet is perhaps the most distinctive part of the estate. Built in a rustic, pastoral style, it was designed to resemble a working village with cottages, gardens, and a functional farm. While romanticized by some and criticized by others as out of touch, the Hamlet is undeniably picturesque and unique—a rare architectural fantasy grounded in 18th-century ideas about nature and rural life. The gardens and pathways that link the estate are beautifully landscaped in the English style, offering a relaxed, natural atmosphere in stark contrast to the rigid geometry of Versailles’ main gardens. The setting is peaceful and reflective, inviting leisurely exploration and contemplation. Visitor facilities are well-maintained, and the estate is accessible either by foot or via the Petit Train shuttle from the main palace. Guided tours and informational signage offer valuable context, and the site is clean, organized, and professionally managed. In conclusion, Marie Antoinette’s Estate is a must-visit for anyone seeking a deeper, more nuanced understanding of the French royal legacy. It adds a layer of humanity and introspection to the Versailles experience, offering not just architectural beauty, but emotional and historical depth. This tranquil estate captures both the grace and contradictions of its most famous resident, making it a memorable highlight of any trip to the region.
THE R — Google review
There isn't a whole lot to see in the actual building here but it's really the gardens and everything outside that is worth it. There's many walking trails and easy to get lost but don't give up. Going to the Queen's hamlet is definitely worth it as is the Temple de l'amour. There's some very large trees nearby that are just epic as well.
James — Google review
So interesting to see where Marie Antoinette actually lived away from all the hustle and bustle of Versailles. It’s very small and easy to tour and I felt like you could really take your time here and look at the room thoroughly without feeling like you were rushed.

La Table du 11 is a stylish restaurant located in the Cour des Senteurs, Versailles. The restaurant offers creative and modern dishes prepared with local and seasonal ingredients. The Cour des Senteurs itself has been transformed into a tranquil courtyard featuring trendy shops, a tea room, and La Table du 11. This urban promenade leads to the oldest quarter in Versailles and the famous Potager du Roi (the King's kitchen garden).
Table 11, a one star Michelin restaurant and recognized by Gault & Millau, was my favorite dinner in my 1 week stay in Paris. Just 10-ish miles outside of the city and located in a quaint corner a few blocks from Versailles is a must. I ordered the 7-course tasting menu and each dish was fantastic, bright, balanced and beautifully presented. I wanted 2-3 glasses of wine to pair with my dinner and the Sommelier created a pairing that paced well with the 7-courses. The staff were extremely helpful, attentive, and worked together like clockwork. Pro-tip: book a 1930 reservation to make the last train back to Paris

They only have two options - 4-courses and 7-courses. Given the small portion, I’d recommend the 7-course one if you’re hungry. They have wine pairing too. Food is awesome and impressive! Love the sweetbread and the dessert. I’ll come again if I visit the city.

Exceptional food and service. One of the best restaurants I've been in France. Well worth the Michelin Star. I had the 4 course meal at lunch and for me thought it was about right. But if you are hungry, might choose the 7 course.

Not only the best restaurant we’ve eaten at in France, but the best restaurant we’ve ever eaten at. First off, the staff and service were phenomenal. They were on point. Loved the minimalistic environment and the small details like the plate ware. Presentation of the dishes were all beautiful. We did the tasting menu. Every single dish was amazing. We were always excited to see what the next dish would be. We also had a hard time picking a favorite! Also the wasabi butter? I hate wasabi and that was the best damn butter I’ve ever had hahaha. They were very accommodating to our English speaking as well. I would hands down go back here. Absolutely worth every penny. Thank you! And sorry for rushing out so fast, we had to catch a train!
Kassi Z — Google review
The dish was extremely delicious. I’m always depressed about how normal chef cooks fish, because I come from where fish are delicately and deliciously cooked. At this restaurant the fish was surprisingly deliciously cooked . I wondered why this restaurant stays bib groumand, not michellin star. The interior and every small items are all chic. Maybe this is because of the staff? Though I enjoyed the meals very much but I didn’t feel as comfortable as in the other luxurious restaurants. This is a shame. The price is rather generous than michellin star restaurants.

We stumbled upon this place on the way to get coffee, we took a chance and asked if they had any spots for lunch and they did! We were shocked a Michelin star restaurant was willing to seat us without reservation. Food was incredible, service was good (not great - they are not personable and only come around to grab plates). They add an amuse bouche and chocolate truffle to every meal. PS if you don’t specifically go out of the way and ask for your bill you will never got it

As someone new to this kind of dining let me just say, don't be intimidated! The staff here were incredibly helpful and nice. The menu has only a few things each day including vegetables and herbs from the garden of the chef. Our experience was either a 3 or 5 course meal to select from and you can choose a wine pairing to go with it. The prices were incredibly reasonable for this type of establishment and the food was insanely good. Every detail is thought of and the wait staff ensures a top notch dining experience. Make sure you get a reservation because this place can book up fast! We even got to shake hands with the chef after our meal. I highly recommend this place!

Grand Trianon is a stunning architectural gem designed by Louis XIV as an escape from the opulence and chaos of the Palace of Versailles. This pink marble and porphyry palace, along with its marvelous gardens, served as a retreat for the royals, including Louis XIV and his mistress Madame de Montespan. The strict guidelines set by Louis XIV were meticulously followed during construction.
It is worth the visit, so rich in history, and so delightful the decor, it transports you to a time that time in history, and allows you to envision the way of life for the most exclusive members of society. Every room, so intricate in its decor, so incredibly beautiful decorated. The collection of art is also extensive as are all the chandeliers that also date back. I recommend making the trip, and certainly experiencing the rooms, halls, the art, the gardens, the fountains, all of it, as part of the Palace of Versailles complete experience!

Grand Trianon was absolutely stunning. Love the pink facade and all the marble. It is very grand and would be an attraction on its own. Don't forget to walk out the back to see the gardens and the lake. It's a lot less crowded here and you can really breathe and enjoy the scenery.
James — Google review
Very much worth visiting. It is much less crowded than the main palace, you can actually breathe here. Also it is really beautiful and has an interesting history. I definitely recommend visiting the grand Trianon! Also the treaty of Trianon which partitioned Hungary after WW1 was signed here!
Tadeusz G — Google review
Definitely suggest coming out to see the Grand Trianon. The gardens were beautiful, especially the flower garden that was blooming like crazy still in October. The interior is also very pretty and since it’s on such a much smaller scale, it’s easier to get to really look at everything.

Included in your ticket to access the palace. We enjoyed the grounds as it was much quieter and less crowded. Nice to walk around and step back in time.
Blake E — Google review
The Grand Trianon is a smaller palace located inside the Versailles estate, to the right of Grand Canal. It was built in 1687 by architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart for King Louis XIV, who wanted a quiet place away from the main court. The building is known for its pink marble columns, elegant design, and large windows that look out onto the gardens. Inside, you can visit several restored rooms, including the Mirror Room, Louis XIV’s bedroom, the Empress’s Apartment, and Napoleon’s rooms from the early 1800s. The furniture and decorations reflect both the 17th-century royal style and the later Empire style used by Napoleon. The gardens around the palace are beautiful and peaceful, with symmetrical flowerbeds and views over the Grand Canal. It’s much less crowded than the main Château, so you can take your time walking through. It takes about 20-30 minutes to walk from the main Versailles Palace, or you can take the petit train that runs through the park. The visit usually takes 30–45 minutes. It’s a great place to learn about how French kings and later Napoleon used Versailles not only for ceremony but also for private life.

This part of the palace of versailles, I spent a day here with my wife. We had been looking forward to this vist and we where not disappointed, there is so much history here to look at and take in from the hall of mirror to the wonderful garden's the only downside side is a day is not enough time to see everything.
Paul K — Google review
I really enjoyed this part of the Palace of Versailles estate. The garden in the back had some stunning flowers and the rooms were beautiful. Parts of this were unmatched elsewhere in the area. It was a bit of a walk from the main palace and I was tired by the time I had made it to this area... in hindsight, I would have split my visit up into multiple days separated by visits to some other sights in between. This is something that you really should see, and you should give it more energy than the remnants of a day already filled at the palace and gardens.

Notre-Dame Market, located in the heart of Versailles City Centre, is a historic and vibrant gourmet market offering a wide array of local delicacies, fresh produce, and artisanal goods. Established in the 17th century by King Louis XIII, this bustling market features both indoor and outdoor stalls where visitors can sample patisserie treats, local cheeses, seasonal fruits and vegetables, spices, cooked chickens, and fantastic street food.
Versailles DO THIS - go to the market, buy cheese, wine, pastries or whatever you love and do a picnic by Grand Canal. You will need to rent bikes or a golf carts or better yet do a bike tour. A great experience, much better to see all of Versailles than just the palace

Love the market, great, fresh produce. But walk around, as there are really large price gaps between stands, for similar products. So whenever you come to Versailles, visit the market, but try to be early
Fr A — Google review
Visited on a Sunday morning. Lively market, highly recommended especially for the grilled chicken, pies, and macchiato from the mobile coffee shop. The Notre-Dame Market in Versailles (Marché Notre-Dame) is one of the most vibrant and historic markets in the Île-de-France region. Located just a short walk from the Palace of Versailles, it dates back to the time of King Louis XIV, who established it in the late 17th century to serve the growing population of the new royal city. Today, it continues to be a beloved local hub for fresh produce, artisanal products, and a taste of authentic French market culture. Set in a charming square with arcaded buildings, the market consists of both indoor and outdoor sections. Inside the covered halls, you'll find a wide range of goods—from fresh cheeses, meats, seafood, and baked goods to fine wines and prepared dishes. Outside, colorful stalls are filled with fruits, vegetables, flowers, and local specialties. The market is busiest on Tuesdays, Fridays, and especially Sundays, when it becomes a lively gathering place for locals and tourists alike. Beyond shopping, the Notre-Dame Market offers a cultural experience. The friendly vendors, the smell of fresh bread and herbs, and the bustle of people create a true French atmosphere. It's also a great place to pick up picnic supplies before visiting the Palace gardens or simply to enjoy a leisurely morning exploring Versailles like a local. Whether you're looking to try regional delicacies, buy high-quality ingredients, or just soak in the charm of a historic French market, the Notre-Dame Market is a must-visit spot in Versailles.

Oh my goodness! This market is a dream for anyone. Whether you are a tourist, a chef, or anyone just passing by, the market is crazy to visit. They have many shops selling meats, cheeses, vegetables, desserts, and fish. The indoor stalls are arranged around a ring of buildings, so it's easy to walk around. I, especially, thought the dessert shop was mouthwatering. It's a shame I didn't get a chance to try the desserts. Next time...

Nestled in the heart of Versailles at 24 Rue de Satory, Le Baradoz is a delightful pub that beckons beer enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. With an impressive selection of around fifty beers, including a variety on tap, this cozy spot offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for unwinding after exploring the nearby gardens and palace.
We went in for a drink late afternoon my wife had a glass of Rosé and I had the Baradoz Lager which was very nice. The barman was exceptionally nice and tolerated my lack of the French language. He helped us let a bumble bee escape from the window. Worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.

In a country of wine this is a legit beer bar. Several beers on tap they weren't the same few you find all over France. Including one that was a true IPA brewed right in France. Many other craft beer selections available in bottle as well. Then usual French Bar snacks available. Staff I encountered was accommodating and forgiving of my very limited French. Recommend to beer geeks passing through Versallils!

Love love love this place! I came here after spending the afternoon in Versailles. We grabbed a table outside and had some beer and a platter of meats and cheeses. The beer was good and the platter was absolutely amazing and a good amount of food! It was fun to people-watch during rush hour from the outdoor tables too. It surprisingly didn't seem very touristy despite being so close to the palace.

This is a superb bar with an outstanding manager. We went to this bar to watch my team. The owner had a technical glitch and was worried I would be disappointed so he offered to drive us around Versailles to find the match. He then bought us drinks as an apology! I was just reminiscing about my visit there years ago and how I had the best little lunch there. I had a little sandwich, a little cake, and Versailles sparkling water. That sparkling water is still my favorite and I wish I could get it here. The restaurant itself wasn't fancy but I was only sitting there for a minute before we were all evacuated for a terrorist threat. We walked down so many flights of stairs and I was enjoying my sandwich so much I was completely unconcerned. I ate the little cake outside in the courtyard and thoroughly enjoyed being evacuated with my yummy sandwich, little cake, and sparkling water. I hope I can go back again someday. How funny that I would enjoy the food in a museum so much. I love Versailles and I loved that lunch.
Katherine S — Google review
Versailles is a very busy place, and the restaurants available within the castle grounds can be incredibly pricey for the common tourist. We went to this cafe because we weren't incredibly hungry and just needed to recharge from our walk around the Trianon Domain before heading inside the chateau itself. Let's start with the atmosphere. There's a line of course, and it leads to a small section of baskets. Pick one up if you intend to take goods from the cooled shelves. There are sandwiches, drinks, desserts, and small snacks. Though it's a bit weird if you're buying alone since if you leave your spot in line to fetch food, it's a little awkward to go back to your previous spot and already be taken over by someone. There needs to be a more solid pathing between falling in line and going to the cashier. The service was alright at best. The first time we got our main meal, the two cashiers were chatting away as if they didn't have any clients to tend to, and we waited for a while just to pay for a cold sandwich, a slice of cake, water, and espresso - which grew cold due to the cashiers taking their sweet time. The second time around however, I bought 'goûter' menu and got a better cashier who was attentive and more welcoming. When you get your order, you will need to find a spot to sit in one of the three rooms to the right. Otherwise, just order to-go so you can sit outside the castle walls and enjoy the weather while eating. As for the food... Very average. The mini sandwich I got had a braided brioche bread which was way too dry. Could use a bit more sauce and more variety in filling. Only ham, cheese, and salad were available. There are larger sandwiches, soup of the day, and quiche of the day.

Ore - Ducasse au château de Versailles offers inventive high-end French cuisine, including brunch and high tea, in a stylishly revamped palace pavilion. The restaurant's name is a reference to the Latin word for mouth and a nod to the preferred color of French monarch Louis XIV, reflected in the interior design and cuisine presentation.
Ore: After a long day exploring Versailles — with the gardens still left to see — we wanted to sit down for a proper meal instead of grabbing takeout. We found this beautiful restaurant right inside the palace, and even without a reservation, we were welcomed with warmth. The food was exceptional — from the burrata with bread to the exquisite desserts and flavorful pork sandwiches. A truly memorable fine dining experience.

They were nice to find us a table without a reservation. The table overlooking the gold gate and square was nice. Food was good (onion soup, leeks/eel, lamb and pasta dish with truffles) were all prepared very nicely. Drinks came out slow and a tad sweet on all 3 different types of cocktails.

A beautiful establishment in the heart of the Palace of Versailles. The greeting was beautiful and menu explained to me. It was a great experience. I have never tasted better food. The eggs were light and fluffy. The food was extraordinary. I would definitely come again, and share the experience with others.

Well we were in the Versailles Palace as I have made my booking with Ore as Angelina had a long queue. I was kind of scared with all the reviews complaining how they have been overcharged and the food was blend — that was all wrong, the food was delicious and we have a great service tbh. We got the lunch special with a starter and main and ordered another plate to share. W e picked the “Beans and Mint Velute” for starters and agreed to pay +10Euros for the “Lamb Breast with Jus” — both were delicious but the main dish was phenomenal. We also ordered a Burratina to share, it was good but nothing spectacular. All in all we probably had one of the best lamb dishes in a long time and the velute starte was refreshing on a hot day. We were promptly seated to our table even thought we arrived 30 minutes prior to our booking and the service was pretty solid - contrary to what other people have said. Our experience at Ore was a really good one. I wouldn’t go back all the way to Versailles to eat here but I wouldn’t definitely come back if I am visiting the palace. Thanks for hosting us.
Cem Y — Google review
The restaurant inside Versailles Palace looks magnificent, with glittering plates, golden ceilings, and all the royal charm you could imagine. Then the illusion falls apart. The staff handle table setting and clearing with shocking roughness. Chairs are dragged unbelievably harshly, plates are slammed onto tables, and the whole routine feels rushed and untrained. Some staff were sweating heavily, wiping with hands and immediately touching the next. Other guests frowned and exchanged looks, clearly uncomfortable, but no one intervened. The manager just stood there, indifferent. From the kitchen came a constant clatter of dishes and glasses, destroying any trace of calm. The setting looked royal, but the execution felt like a noisy cafeteria. The croissant was the only redeeming item. The egg seemed baked directly in the bowl, the sausage lacked presence, and the tea came from a paper bag. The so-called priority access simply means cutting the line from the side, without explanation or guidance from staff. Do that unknowingly and you will almost certainly cause trouble. Calling this a perk feels absurd. Ducasse name has simply fallen. No disappointment, no surprise, just the clear realization that this is an experience no one needs to have.

Eating inside the Palace of Versailles is an amazing experience, and you definitely pay for the incredible location. However, the food quality doesn't quite justify the price. What was truly disappointing was the extremely slow and almost rude service. Plates were practically thrown down. Go for the unique setting, but don't expect top-notch food or service.
Simone A — Google review
The food was overpriced and of subpar quality (lamb was oke but the chicken real bad). The place and ambience were also below average, especially for a restaurant located inside Versailles. (Don't let Google Images fool you!) To make matters worse, we had to wait over an hour for our main courses to be served, even though the restaurant wasn't crowded and we had made a timed online reservation in advance. The waitstaff were unresponsive; I had to walk to the waiter station three times in the last 15 minutes to ask about my dish. Each time, the waiters kindly apologized and said they would check, but they never returned with an update on how long we would need to wait. I made three trips to the station: first, to inquire about the delay; second, to get a response; and third, to cancel our order because I wanted to explore other parts of the castle, and we wouldn't have enough time now. It was during this last trip that they rushed back to inform me it would be just five more minutes. An hour long and the foods weren't even great. 0 stars.

Really excellent lunch and a great value. You can choose 1 main dish (served in individual cast iron pots) and 4 sides (savory or dessert). My main was confit lamb shoulder with truffled mashed potatoes and it was outstanding. The meat fell apart under the fork, the sauce was rich and meaty, and the mashed potatoes were a perfect match. If you see the peas offered as side dish, get them. It has an intense fresh pea flavor, like putting springtime in your mouth. Just lovely.

We had a delightful experience here. The gentleman who greeted us was super friendly and helpful; I appreciate him for taking the time to explain how it works in English. Essentially, the decision for a customer to make is do you want to pay 1) 17 euros for one main course + 4 glasses or 2) 26 euros for all-you-can-eat? The glasses consisted of cold side dishes (eg salad) and desserts. Note: drinks are not included. If you choose option 1, a soup will count as 2 glasses and 2 macarons as 1 glass. Bread is included for free. For the main course, there were 4 options including a plate of the day (fish, in my case), veal, some pasta, and I think a chicken dish. There were probably 6 options each for side dishes and desserts. Food was delicious and I would definitely come back again when I am next in Versailles!

Sisters' Café is a charming American eatery that invites you on a delightful culinary road trip. Nestled in Versailles, this cozy spot features an inviting terrace and a vibrant interior, perfect for enjoying classic American fare like juicy burgers, tender pork ribs, and fresh salads. The menu also boasts delicious Mexican quesadillas and the must-try cheesecake.
Leaving this review while still sitting at a table here. As an American, this was such a wonderful spot to get an AMAZING burger. From start to finish, service and food was a 10/10. Can’t wait to visit again!

Somehow, this place made me love burgers. Usually, I don’t even buy them because there is too much salad and sauce, and it just annoys me. But here, everything is done perfectly. The top bun is toasted from the inside, and inside there is bacon, cheese, and beef. They are not too salty or too bland. The bacon gives exactly the kind of flavor you want to feel when you bite into it. The burger is easy to hold without worrying about everything falling apart or needing to wipe your hands nonstop. The vegetables are served separately, so you can add them if you want or leave them out. We asked for ketchup and mayonnaise on the side. I will definitely come back. Somehow, everything matched exactly what I want in a burger. The hash brown was a bit too greasy, but it’s easy to ignore. I liked everything, the taste and the way it was served.

My family stumbled upon this American fare restaurant while looking for Petit Trianon. We ordered two burgers, a club sandwich and a chicken quesadilla; everything was hot and very tasty. Service was quick and attentive, we were served within 10 minutes of ordering.

I only enjoyed the cheese cake and i felt its properly made . The brownie bite was too dry . The pancake was good. The chicken fajita had too much indian curry flavor its not real tex mex fajita and the tortilla wraps were not real ones nor the chips . Maybe i should have sticked to their burgers ? The waiters were very friendly and service fast .

Sister's Cafe is a small cafe serving good, beers and cocktails near Palace of Versailles. The cafe setas are mainly outdoors. There's Sunday brunch available. Service was good but food was average. The atmosphere is nice as there's lot of tourists in this area visiting palace and the seating outdoor on main road is nice.

We found this on our last day in Versailles, ate here lunch and dinner. Hamburgers are excellent, and the Club Sandwich is the best I have had in my 60+ yrs. Excellent BLT. Excellent coleslaw and fries are good too And they have good sundaes. Highly recommend.

We tried to get in on a Saturday night but it was too busy. We booked the next night and it was great. The burger was juicy, the meat wasn’t packed too tight, you can tell they are homemade. The waiter was great, he helped us figure out the kids food so they would like it too, they loved ever mouthful and we left with takeaway milkshakes. The drinks were just ok, but go here for the food and just order the burgers. Lovely.
Daniel L — Google review
Sorry about this comment but the food was tasteless, the hash brown was too dry and charred. The kid menu is ok for a kid under 5y, my 8yo was still hungry after finishing his dinner. However, the staff was nice and the service ok

La Petite Venise is a charming restaurant located in the heart of the Palace of Versailles, offering an elegant dining experience with cobblestone floors and exposed beams. It's a perfect spot for a romantic rendezvous, family meal, or gathering with friends. The restaurant's bucolic setting between the Grand Canal and the Fountain of Apollo creates a pleasant atmosphere for visitors.
No wait, servers spoke good enough English for us to communicate and were attentive. The Veal was well cooked, the sauce was good and the tomatoes that came with it were amazing. The Gnocchi was very tasty, very tender gnocchi and an excellent pesto spinach sauce that was light and flavorful. Really tasty dish The Giadina was a chocolate mousse dish with a bit of pastry chips. I am not familiar with the dish but it was excellent Overall the food was extremely good, especially considering it is at Versailles, would definitely recommend eating here.

A great place to eat when visiting Versailles Palace. Beware that it is about a 15-20 minute walk from the Palace through the gardens. The food was excellent. The service was a little slow but this didn’t affect our enjoyment. The converted barn is charming with many of the original features. An expensive but satisfying experience.

I love it. We spent the whole day in Versailles so food option within the palace grounds is the best for us. Chose this place. It’s a bit more expensive but the food is spot on! The limoncello was also very delicious. It’s not overly sweet, it’s just right. I would recommend this place for lunch in Versailles.
Soren M — Google review
We visited today since lunch was included with our passport et dejeuner ticket at Versailles. We had such a lovely meal! Our meal included an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert, as well as coffee or tea. We decided to add on a bottle of wine as well. I didn’t expect much from a restaurant at Versailles but we were soooo pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was beautiful. The presentation of the food was the best we’ve seen so far in Paris and not only did the food look amazing but it was also delicious. Service was wonderful, the best we’ve had in Paris area so far! Roxane was our waitress and she was amazing! She was so kind, attentive, and her work ethic was top notch and even though there were a lot of people dining she made sure everyone’s experience was great. The rest of the staff was also very sweet, willing to take our picture and greeting us and saying good bye. We had such a great experience. Merci beaucoup!

I highly recommend making a reservation at this beautiful restaurant inside of the gardens at Versailles. The pasta with mushrooms and truffles was delicious, and the ambiance was perfect for discussing our day at the palace. The restaurant was full by 12:45 PM.

We had a wonderful time and we would absolutely visit and eat here again! The service was very professional. Give lots of time to get to the restaurant. The grounds are very large.
Melany C — Google review
TLDR: If you have ~ 1.5 hrs to kill come here sip on a sprits eat good food and enjoy the calm cool atmosphere of this place. A beautiful hidden patio on the grounds of the palace. The food was above average but the wait was far below. We visited towards the tail end of the lunch service, just before 2 pm (14:00hr) , we waited ~30 min in line and another 15 before our order was placed. Was it worth the wait? Given the limited options around I guess so. For what it’s worth I did lick my bowl clean of its sauce. The truffle cream pasta did not disappoint and is a big recommendation!
Ryan S — Google review
This was part of the tickets for the palace. However, getting to this place by foot requires a bit of effort. Could use a few more signs for the foreign visitors like us. Though the ground staff were very helpful. They were plenty around and ready to assist. We were given a set meal option but were able to upgrade with just a few Euros. We opted for the orange apple ginger juice, the fish with bacon and fresh peas, and chicken with cabbage white sauce. I wasn't expecting something great, but the dishes were superb even though the service was a bit slow. The juice was refreshing. The ricotta and asparagus soup were delicious. Fish was perfectly cooked, flaky, and moist. Perfect with the crispy bacon with the peas. The chicken was seasoned well and tender.

A very charming cafe with outdoor seating next the the weekly market away from the crowds of Versailles Palace. Service was professional and quick. Prices are reasonable to high but the quality is of the food is very good. The Thai soup, fish, and risotto were excellent. Bread and wine selection were ok. Trio of desserts and coffee was a nice conclusion to the meal.

The Gallery of Coaches, situated opposite the Palace of Versailles in the former royal stables, is a captivating display of opulent and historic horse-drawn coaches dating back to the 1600s. The collection features grand ceremonial Berlin Coaches used for significant events such as Napoleon's marriage and King Louis XVIII's funeral. Crafted by skilled artisans including sculptors, embroiderers, and metal workers, these ornate vehicles showcase exquisite craftsmanship.
This museum has an excellent collection of horse drawn carriages, visited during the weekend and I got to see and learn about the old methods of transport that were used by the powers of both royal, imperial and presidential rule. A complete enjoyable visit to this place, and glad we came at the right time after our visit to the Palace of Versailles.

A great little "bonus" that came with our tickets to Versailles. It's just across the road and only takes 10-15 minutes to walk through. Very cool to see various carriages, coaches and sleds that were used and had such history to them!
Tyler L — Google review
Interesting and for free! The stables and carriages of the Kings are very impressive. They have sledges and baby carriages, too. Also a funeral carrige is on display. A carriage with eight horses shows ow impressive and big the carriages were. Most of the cars were produced for the wedding of Napoleon. They really travelled in style. When you look to the luxurious interior of the carriges. Really great that no entrance is charged. #parisforfree

Cool place, especially if you are a big fan of history of transports. An amazing place where to come to see the most iconic and beautiful French coaches (where the coaches born apparently) and where there is the beautiful Napoleon coache. Have a look, you can buy it togheter with the Versailles ticket for a few euro extra. On my opinion, a curious visit to do
Mircea D — Google review
I liked the fact that this gallery is located in a different building than the palace itself. That means that it doesn't attract many visitors, just the ones that are really interested in this exhibition. I also liked the fact that for every coach there was info on the occassion and the date it was used. If you beleive this review has been helpful for you, please don’t forget to press the 👍 button. Thank you.

If you are visiting paris and versailles palace precisely you must not miss on paasing by the gallery of coaches it’s a very fun experience looking at the huge carriages wwith their detailed decorations and stories download the guide to the palace from the app provided on the website and you will find a chapter explaining all about the gallery, because it’s a bit far from the palace you’re not gonna be allowed with the audio guide provided from the palace there because you technically are going to go out from the palace.

We stumbled upon this museum after seeing the line outside Versailles....crazy long! This is a treat to see. If you have children, this is a great place to introduce them to art of engineering and skills of artistry. These coaches are elegant and real eye pleasers. For a place in the gardens of Versailles, it's quite cheap. And I don't mean the price, but I'm talking about the quality. The food is fast food grade (not the best kind of fast food), and it's overpriced (but it's probably normal for where you are). You'll go there because it's the only place you have, but in other circumstances this place will not have clients. The service is quite fast.
Ciro R — Google review
Wait in a long line for precooked food for take away or limited seating. Coffee from the machine was just OK. Crepe was made earlier and reheated for 10 seconds. The best part of this place is a shaded place to sit and you can use the toilets outside without having to make a purchase.

After a long walk in the park, we stopped by for a quick lunch around 5 PM. Unfortunately, despite the extensive menu, only 2–3 dishes were still available, which was a bit disappointing. What we did have was quite tasty, but the limited options were noticeable. It seems they prepare everything in advance and mostly offer pre-packed takeaway meals, so it’s probably best to visit earlier in the day.

Stopped by the bar for a beer after visiting the palace. The staff was very nice and the atmosphere was great. I'm not sure going to the bathroom after a few drinks is recommended. L'Equilibre - Bar à vins et Tapas is a charming spot that recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. The warm ambiance, with its exposed beams and bricks, invites visitors to stop by for a drink or a bite to eat, whether it's just for a quick moment or an entire evening. The menu offers a delightful selection of wines from around the world, as well as beers from the Landes region and various flavored rums.
We visited early January. It was Zero degrees outside and remarkably locals sit outside drinking wine. We managed to find a spot inside and enjoyed a very nice Alsace Riesling. The food was simple but very tasty. There were additional tables upstairs but we did not venture up there. This wine bar has friendly and attentive staff, a small but good selection of wine and plenty of mood. It was good value for money considering what we had. There were plenty of other tapas options to explore.

After a day at Versailles, we were in need of a glass of wine and some food. Tapas are always a good option and L’Equilibre was the perfect spot for a light meal before dinner. Set up like a traditional Spanish Tapas Bar, the menu is on chalkboards. You order at the bar and they bring it to you. A selection of wines, beers and some mixed drinks are at your disposal. It’s situated on a small pedestrian street, so you can sit outside and watch the happenings around you. Friendly staff. Quick service. And delicious food and wine options are at your disposal. Definitely recommend this for your dining pleasure.

Bar and tapas in a quaint alley. You order and pay everything at the bar, get a number, and you take your own drinks to the table but food will be served to your table. Staff were friendly. But the food isn’t really tapas food nor tapas size. It’s more appetiser food or bar snacks. Limited menu but good taste. Reasonably priced. Place wasn’t the cleanest but still ok.

Musée Lambinet is a municipal history museum located in an elegant mansion constructed in 1751 for Joseph-Barnabé Porchon, a contractor for Louis XV. The museum showcases over 550 items including ceramics, musical instruments, furniture, and paintings by artists like Alfred Sisley, offering insights into the history of Versailles. Originally the residence of the Lambinet family, it was bequeathed to the town as a museum.

I love these little museums off the beaten track. Small and quiet but still interesting. Lovely collection of paintings and objects. Peronally I loved the period rooms. It gives you a good idea of what these houses looked like in the past as most of the wood panelling is still in tact. Definitely recommended when in Versailles.

Fantastic museum, learned so much about the history of both Versailles as well as France. Beautiful artefacts, furniture and art. Very well curated and narrated. A hidden gem!
Hannah C — Google review
A well-presented little museum which is an alternative (or accompaniment) to the palace. Has a variety of exhibits and takes you through the history of the town. The main text in each room is also presented in English - which is handy as I don't understand much (any) French!
Christopher N — Google review
Not very well known museum in Versailles ville. An eclectic art and furniture family collection which befits the era. Very well documented events for the French Revolution and a portrait of Miss Charlotte Corday who murdered Marat for the right reasons. Coupled with a visit to the Musée Picasso in Paris, good to see the portrait of this unusual killer. Then the events which saw Napoleon’s rise etc are also very well documented. Building itself is in need of further care as a strange scent emanates from the wooden structure but a really great place to visit to understand French history and the history of Versailles.

A gem of a place. Quaint little 18th century chateau where you can learn a lot about Versailles!
Maya P — Google review
Nice small museum. The signage is only in French so if you do not read the language plan to just enjoy the paintings and items for their beauty and historical interest. Enjoyable apartment setup as it looked in the 17th century. Friendly staff. Three floors with creaky stairs. Well worth the 5 € entrance charge. We spent about one hour at the museum.
Jennifer K — Google review
So glad I skipped the gardens at Versailles to see this lovely museum. It's bigger than it looks and will transport you back in time to 18th century France. I loved the authentically squeaky hardwood floors. Practical info- No English translations. Give yourself an hour.

The café provides takeaway services from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 am and 3 pm and also offers delivery through Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Close to the palace and a great place to start off the day. The food was so delicious and priced greatly. Love the amount of seating and space. The person we mainly dealt with she was amazing and super nice!! Would totally travel back out of Paris just to come eat here again.

This cozy place exceeded all our expectations! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The coffee was top-notch, rich and aromatic, clearly made with care. What truly made our visit special was the amazing service. The staff especially Audry were incredibly friendly and attentive, and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Even though they didn’t have to, they kindly offered us a special deal that made our visit even more enjoyable and memorable. It’s rare to find that level of genuine hospitality these days. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, fantastic coffee, and service that makes you feel like a valued guest. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Delicious breakfast. Unusually the poached eggs were served cold (tasted good despite this). The waitress was very helpful (once she had warmed up).

Really nice place. From just walking past I had no idea there was upstairs seating. Upstairs is super cute with a warm, cozy vibe. The staff were very nice and accommodating (my french is terrible). The Italian croque was delicious (I love pesto) and the fruity, oil and vinegar dressing on the salad was very delightful. The latte art was cute too! I highly recommend this place to sit and have a chat with some coffee or a nice, light meal.

Very kind service and good food. I'd like to thank Audrey in particular (hope I remembered the name correctly) for pointing out an option to purchase a brunch menu after we finished our meal, which saved us a decent amount of money (the point being she did not have to do that and would actually have less work if she did not). We did not leave a tip because we happened to be short on change but we will happily return next time. Thanks once again!

- The carrot cake was way too dry it was obvious that it was not made recently may be not well conserved … anyhow at least not made within last 24 hours - Service was too poor we had to wait 30 minutes at least until passing our order. (I precise the issue was not with the newely recruited person it was with the blonde with glasses who completely forgot about us, the new girl placed the order and tried to make it quick as possible ..anyhow ) - The tables were weirdly sticky

Les Biscuits de Madame Georges is a popular and charming cafe located in the center of Versailles, close to the market place. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly. It's advisable to make reservations in advance as it can be difficult to secure a table on short notice due to its popularity among locals and tourists.
I visited after seeing reviews saying that hot chocolate and cheesecake were delicious. The store was cute and lovely, and the chairs were soft, so I sat comfortably and ate. The hot chocolate was rich and thick, and the cheesecake was sweet, so I enjoyed it. I think it's perfect for windy and cold weather like today. I think it's the best when you need a sugar charge.

Simply excellent. This gem is nestled on a charming alley, radiating a cozy ambiance that instantly embraces you. The service, courtesy of the wonderful attendant, is exceptional. She was really attentive. Her recommendations for pairing drinks with their delectable cakes and sweet offerings were spot-on. I opted for a hot chocolate paired with a freshly baked banana chocolate pudding. What a delightful combination—kudos for the recommendation! Every detail screams homemade, and the flavors are exquisite. For those with a sweet tooth, this is your haven. A truly delightful experience.

What a lovely and peaceful place to take a tea and eat a cake in the center of Versailles, close to the market place (Place du Marché). The decoration is beautiful, the atmosphere very cozy and the staff very friendly. All cakes and cookies are made locally, everyday in the morning. We have enjoyed the unique and delicate taste of their gluten-free and dairy free chocolate cake, a complete success!

A must go when you’re in Versailles. I tried one of their herbal teas with morninga and I really liked it. One of my friends got the rooibos chai tea which she loved. We also tried the spéculos (like gingerbread) cheesecake and it was so good. I want to come back to try the hot cocoa (my friend had it and really liked it) and basically all their other desserts and teas which looked good.

Cozy little French pub with an impressive beer selection and friendly staff. I was drawn by the impressive list of couscous options, which are only served during the day. I had skipped lunch and was very hungry. However the portions were so big I couldn't even finish! I'm guessing they've got a North African cook as the couscous was amazing! The pub was frequented mostly by locals and students- everyone seems to know each other and are friendly with each other. This neighborhood is full of bars and restaurants and would be a fun place to hang out into the evening.

I’ve been to several bars in Versailles and it’s difficult to pick a winner. To my mind, this one wins. A good range of well priced beers (lovely Goudale) and heaps of atmosphere. This corner of the square can get rowdy with students, so some may not like that. Evenings they have sharing platters (more during the day).

We got there really late after driving from Germany, many places didn’t have food but they said the chef can make me a burger. I said yes no hesitation, one of the best burgers I have ever had. Was cooked perfectly rare, had tomatoes, cheese, and the best special sauce. I then got a mango marg, amazing 20/10 would return and the chef was so sweet❤️

The Apollo Fountain, completed in 1671, is a stunning masterpiece located at the end of the Grand Canal in Versailles. The fountain features a gilded sculpture of Apollo, the Greek sun god, rising from the water in his chariot. This symbolically represents the king's power during the Baroque period. Surrounding the fountain are intricate sculptures and water features that add to its magnificence.
Nice fountain as part of the grounds at the palace of Versailles. You can access the fountain without tickets to the house, although I would recommend also getting tickets. The grounds are beautiful to see, and, in my opinion, even prettier than the palace itself. Would highly recommend visiting and trying to coordinate your visit on a day with nice weather.
Nicholas E — Google review
The Gardens of Versailles dazzle with endless surprises: hidden groves, 50+ ornate fountains (each uniquely sculpted), and razor-sharp symmetry across 800 hectares. Rent a golf cart (€38/hour) to navigate faster or rowboats (€18) on the Grand Canal. The Apollo Fountain, a golden centerpiece, epitomizes the Sun King’s grandeur. Allocate 3+ hours—exploring every path is impossible! Pro tip: Buy the Passport ticket (€28) combining palace + gardens; entry to the gardens alone costs extra during fountain shows (€10.50). Crowds peak midday; arrive early to savor the geometric perfection in peace. A must for art and history lovers, but wear comfy shoes!
Edgar M — Google review
Beautiful fountain, it was nice to see it in person finally. It's a million times better in the sunlight! Too bad it's off most of the time. The pool itself has fishes and ducks.

Versailles, the epitome of grandeur and opulence, needs no introduction. The garden fountains of Versailles are a symphony of water and artistry, mesmerizing visitors with their beauty and magnificence. From the moment you step into the meticulously manicured gardens, you're transported to a world of splendor and extravagance. The sheer scale of the fountains is awe-inspiring, each one more elaborate than the last, adorned with intricate sculptures and cascading water features. The pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the Grand Canal, a masterpiece of engineering and design that stretches as far as the eye can see. Watching the fountains dance to the rhythm of classical music is a truly magical experience, evoking a sense of wonder and delight. But it's not just the fountains that captivate; every corner of the Versailles gardens is a work of art in its own right. From the perfectly pruned hedges to the meticulously maintained flower beds, every detail has been carefully curated to create a sense of harmony and balance. As you wander through the labyrinthine pathways, you'll stumble upon hidden groves, tranquil ponds, and charming follies, each more enchanting than the last. It's a place where time seems to stand still, allowing you to immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world.Visiting Versailles is more than just a sightseeing experience; it's a journey back in time to an era of splendor and excess. Whether you're a history buff, a lover of art and architecture, or simply seeking a moment of tranquility amidst the chaos of modern life, the garden fountains of Versailles are sure to leave a lasting impression.

Stumbled upon this place accidentally! They have the longest draft beer menu we saw in France. Also their cocktail was pretty good. It also had a more pleasant local feel to it compared to a lot of options that are closer to the palace. Their food option is cheese and charcuterie, which we did not get, but we saw that they were slicing the meet fresh in store, which is super nice. We came across this little place after walking around Versailles for the day. It is a lovely bar with a great range of 20 beers and a couple of Normandy ciders. They also had a happy hour. I almost would give a 5 stars as I really like the bar. Wide selection of craft beers, local and international. The bar has a lot of space and nice vibe. One thing to notice: ***paying by card with a minimum of 15€.*** I was slightly disappointed 2 times with the fact that they cannot serve some saucissons or something after 23:00. Which I thought was a real pity. You would sell so much more with a bit of snacks! Those sausages don't need to be "cooked" at all. When I ordered they just said that the kitchen is closed. Just a slight disappointment there as I have had many experiences where they can just give you a sausage and a knife so you do all the cutting yourself. (Better for everything really)

Wine cellar
LA CAVE DU 11 is a cozy spot where you can enjoy virtual aperitifs with loved ones on Zoom or HouseParty. While the table and bistro of 11 are supporting healthcare workers, the cellar, led by chef Jean-Baptiste Lavergne-Morazzani, offers a selection of wines paired with Basque charcuteries and Corsican cheeses.

Very good advice on wines, and excellent service… (Original) Excellent à tout point de vue! Cuisinier très sexy, son dessert caramel très gourmand ! N’hésitez pas une seconde. (Translated by Google) Zero!! Non-existent service, random, amateurs!!!! Total disappointment for a very high price!! Run away unless you like being mistreated!!! When will we see restaurateurs who know how to do their job!!! What's more, we were caught in the street because they don't communicate with each other; we had already paid in cash!!! UNPROFESSIONAL (Original) Nul!!

It looks good, but u have to have a reservation even though there were plenty of empty tables inside and they only serve outside past 8pm!

(Translated by Google) A beautiful place, with a unique atmosphere overlooking an exceptional courtyard! We always have a pleasant time there. Special mention for the croque-monsieur, generous and tasty, which is worth the detour in itself. An address you absolutely must know.

(Translated by Google) A truly pleasant and friendly welcome, a short menu but everything is well-prepared and delicious. And of course, excellent wines, even by the glass. (Original) Un accueil vraiment agréable et sympathique, une carte courte mais tout est soigné et bon. Et bien sûr des vins excellents même au verre.

(Translated by Google) Excellent address for tapassiettes and natés in Versailles! We came from Paris to dine there and we were not disappointed! The little brother of the bistro and the gastro offers a very wide choice of natural wines under the good advice of the sommelier and a menu that is as original as it is affordable and refined. We tried the chef's new plate, with a tuna carpaccio revisited with orange, everything was excellent! The whole team took great care and even offered us a tour of the cellar with some explanations. If we lived in Versailles, we would be there every week! Merci encore 🍷

(Translated by Google) Very poorly received!!!! We ask the waiter for the card. Answer: “My menu is there” while showing us the cocktail table, then he leaves. ...Limited for one bar! Then we make our choice, we ask for information on the cocktails, it's impossible to get any. “You need to speak louder, I don’t understand anything you’re saying to me.” I won't have the time to tell you about the quality of the cocktails, because we didn't stay. In any case, I advise no one to set foot there, given the quality of the welcome!

(Translated by Google) New owner for 4 months. Very attracted by the "Jean COCTEAU" style decoration, the decor is really very nice. We were very well received. The boss is very nice, very open and attentive to the customer. The mulled wine is excellent. I highly recommend this bar, and I can't wait to go back to try the restaurant for dinner. Cisco

(Translated by Google) I don't usually leave comments on the Internet, but this was too much. The service is so terrible it needs to be reported 4 servers on the terrace... not one to take care of you, they prefer to laugh among themselves than take care of the customer. 15 minutes before a waiter takes care of seating us 15 min wait before they decide to clear the previous table 15 min wait before taking order ....45 min we start to get thirsty 10 minutes later...ah, it's finally the aperitif 15 min later....starter and dishes are mixed...dishes missing... Dishes served without cutlery, no bread, juxtaposed tables not cleared A joke... and when you ask 3 times for bread from 3 different servers, 3 times for cutlery, 3 times for all the missing items (carafe, bread, butter, etc.), there is enough to drive you crazy....Conclusion we canceled the following dishes... IN SHORT to avoid even if there is beautiful sunshine, instead look for another terrace with REAL service. PS / that day we were not the only ones to suffer this nasty experience, we even hesitated to settle down seeing the annoyance of certain customers...
