Dover Castle, located on England's eastern flank, has a rich history dating back to the Iron Age. The castle boasts medieval underground works and war-time tunnels that offer captivating views and tours. Originally fortified in the 1st century, it was later modified for artillery warfare by Henry VIII. The Napoleonic Wars saw the addition of a network of tunnels with gun positions and casemates dug into the cliff.
We visited on a Sunday. The castle grounds are huge. There are 3 different sets of tunnels you can explore, two of them with a guide and the medieval tunnels to explore on your own. We spent the whole day there. Very interesting. Lots to see and explore. Good cafe for lunch. Highly recommend.

Absolutely a fantastic place to visit oozing with history. The site is large so allow plenty of time. It's also hilly and within the castle there is a lot of stairs. The tunnels under the castle were fascinating especially if you have an interest in WWII. Though they date back to the late 1700s. Tours are run at regular intervals and the staff are extremely knowledgeable. All staff were helpful and nice. We were able to park on site but I imagine school holidays could cause an issue sometimes. There's is a carpack for disabled drivers much closer and on a flatter level near the castle itself. Plenty of toilets dotted around the grounds and a cafe and ice cream van as well as one serving hot drinks and snacks. Small p.ay area with climbing equipment for children. Great views over Dover and the port. Also visit the Saxon Church that is within the grounds.

Was a wonderful visit, went there with a friend of mine and we explored everything the castle had to offer. Under the castle there are some interesting tunnels with a lot of interesting stories. You will learn a bit about the war and the importance of the castle in the past. It's worth the money.

You could easily spend a whole day here visiting the various sections of the large site. Of special interest to us were the Secret War Tunnels. It is a 30-minute tour with an informed and entertaining guide. (Unfortunately no photos allowed.) There is no extra fee for the tour. It is included with your entrance fee. There is also a tour of the hospital tunnels which we didn’t have time to take but would have been interested to see. We also enjoyed seeing the castle which is furnished in replicas from the period which we didn’t expect. Again, the attendants were friendly and informed. On a nice day there are lovely picnic area to enjoy.
Sheryl S — Google review
I am pretty sure this is my first time here. The castle is well done and there's free car parking 5 minutes away, members can park inside we were on day tickets. Had to queue about 30 minutes for the WW2 tunnels but otherwise easy to move around. The NAAFI restaurant was shambolic, either short of staff or disorganised. It was the only negative of the day for me.
Ian B — Google review
Nice day out. Arrived around 12:30. Was directed where to park by attendants (parking was free inside the castle grounds). Went first to the tunnels (operation Dynamo) rescue from Dunkirk. 40 minute guided tour which talks about the build up to WW2 and the rescue operation from Dunkirk. We queued for about 15/20 minutes. They let a group in about every 15 minutes. Then we went to the cafe. I would advise taking a packed lunch. Had a hotdog, a sausage roll and two drinks (can and a carton) came to £17. Then we went to the siege play park which is okay. All castle attack/defend based but alot of it is broken, has pieces missing or doesn't work. We then went inside Dover castle. This is done quite well. There was also a 20 minute show on in one of the rooms for the kids. Halloween themed and was quite funny. The kids enjoyed it. We then visited the second set of tunnels (underground hospital). This runs every 30 minutes and has a capacity of 30 people on a first come, first served basis. You follow the journey through the tunnels of a downed pilot. Again, this tour was quite good. All in all, we spent 4 hours here and it was well worth the visit.
Michael D — Google review
There is so much to see here - definitely plan enough time! I would recommend buying tickets online, if you can. If not, you can drive up and park, then walk inside and purchase tickets in the gift shop in the main castle area at the top of the hill. The grounds are really well maintained and the staff is so friendly and helpful! The various tours close early, so be sure to hit them first, then tour the rest at your leisure. We started at the top, toured the tunnels, then went and did the two tours at the bottom before making the trek back up. (I would recommend this route) There is a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes! The views are incredible and there is so much to see. The only thing we weren’t a big fan of was the gaudy colors of the decorations in the main castle - they reminded us of a children’s play set - but that’s just our opinion. It definitely didn’t dampen the experience! There are ample restroom facilities located all around the property. It seemed like the kind of place that might be difficult to maneuver in a manual wheelchair, but we don’t use a wheelchair so there might be accommodations we didn’t see. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
Shaela C — Google review
What a history, what a place, what a view from the roof. Pet friendly only in the garden. No pets allowed in closed spaces such as wartime tunnels or museums, shops or anything else. The personnel attitude towards the small companions were great with one exception: the gentleman wearing glasses at the entrance of the part where we go to see the rooftop.

Dover Museum and Bronze Age Boat Gallery is a historical treasure trove located in the iconic port town of Dover. The museum showcases the rich history of the area, featuring rare prehistoric artifacts and archaeological exhibits dating back to ancient times. Visitors can explore the Roman Painted House, artillery forts along the coastline, and take a walk on the River Dour Trail to delve into the town's fascinating past.
🌈 Nice day starting at the Dover Museum and Bronze Age Boat Gallery, then Dover Castle and continuing my way with these beautiful views of the White Cliffs of Dover, until reaching South Foreland Lighthouses.
M M — Google review
It is a good museum that ellaborates on Dover's Roman and prehistoric history alongside some other exhibits peppered in. There are some fun interactive objects which are fun for children. Perhaps the best presented and most interesting exhibit is the prehistoric bronze age boat which is used to elaborate parts of that time period. I do wish there was some more modern objects and they could have been related back to the older history. However if you want to learn about Dover's history through the millennia than this is a good shout.
Taha K — Google review
Pleasantly surprised by the amount of items and information in this museum. We didn't have much time before our parking ran out but decided to take a quick look as it was free to enter. It's spread over several levels which can be accessed by stairs or lift. The bronze aged boat is a true marvel and well preserved. Each floor of the museum is full of interesting things, so much more than we were expecting, even the corridors and staircase has something to look at. We will need to go back and spend more time exploring 20 minutes wasn't anywhere near long enough! The staff are lovely and helpful. There is a gift shop with a range of items. If you are in Dover it's well worth a visit!

Genuinely enjoyable experience, loads to read and even touch! I love an interactive museum that's suitable for autistic & adhd people. 3 floors & 2 awesome taxidermy animals (i won't spoil the surprise which). The Bronze Age Boat is a must see!
Katie — Google review
Fantastic little Museum! See a well-preserved boat that's around 3600 years old, and a comprehensive history from the time the Romans landed in 46ad to modern times. Countless artifacts on display from every era. We'll worth a stop, and admission is free.
Richard H — Google review
We were delighted with the Dover Museum. The first floor is primarily concerned with the history of Dover through the ages, with dioramas and model figures illustrating people’s dress of the time, starting with the Stone Age. Most of the relics on this floor were replicas, with the originals being at the British Museum - something a lot of museums have in common. The second floor was for temporary exhibitions, this one being displays of models, miniatures and some toys from the past. The third floor had more on the history of Dover, and a separate section devoted to the Dover Bronze Age Boat, a wooden boat from about 3000 years ago that was discovered during highway construction. The government didn’t want to pay for proper analysis, so a large team of conservationists retrieved as much of the boat as they could. Having been buried in silt and water, the parts they found looked in reasonable condition, but the wood would disintegrate if any stress was put on it. They cut it into pieces, soaked the wood in a polyethylene glycol (PEG) solution to stabilize the wood, and then sent the pieces to a separate facility that freeze-dried them. Another team decided to reproduce the boat using (mostly) bronze-age tools and methods (I say mostly because they did use a chain saw to fell the tree). This let them learn more about how the boat had been constructed. Both the original and the copy are on display. The museum also has extensive displays on people who swam the English Channel (or claimed to, in some cases.)
Steve L — Google review
You can't help but be impressed that bronze age sailors created this ship. The display is very good. If you go to the museum start upstairs with the ship. Give it your attention while your mind is fresh. You will be wowed.

Really nice free museum- very informative. Can easily kill an hour and show you some of the roman history of Dover. Helpful and kind staff.

The Dover Transport Museum, located just a short drive from Dover town center, is a delightful attraction for visitors of all ages. The museum showcases an impressive collection of vintage vehicles including cars, buses, locomotives, and motorbikes. As you wander through the spacious halls, you'll encounter replicas of historical storefronts and signage that span various eras from the early public transit systems to modern-day transportation.
Very enjoyable visit, lots of interesting exhibits, boys loved the model railways3

Children had the best time. It is bigger than it looks and we happily spent 2 hours here. Tickets are valid for a year so we will definitely be back. The gift shop is small but the prices and quality of items is fantastic. It's mostly run by volunteers who really genuinely care and that means that everyone is happy to talk to and help guests. Overall, it makes for a good little day out.
Robin P — Google review
A great place for nostalgia. Really good exhibits with knowledgeable staff around to guide you. Lots of things for kids to do. Coffee and cakes were good. Coffee was surprisingly tasty and sponge cake was one of the best in a snack bar. Well done staff. Tickets are valid for a year, so I will be back........ definitely!
Roger L — Google review
Whilst a small museum it's bigger than it looks. Lots of vintage things set about and well displayed. Place is run by volunteers all of which were friendly and nice as well as being passionate. Cafe was accommodating for gluten free and didn't make a fuss so that was also a nice touch. Some exhibits could do with a slight revamp to bring in the fresh blood but despite that it was still a cracking little museum worthy of going to visit. If you're into your vintage nostalgic cars and bikes or even just the walking back through time this is something right up your street. Really enjoyed my visit. Thanks to the staff

If you just want i little family day out, this is the place for you. Brilliant museum with old vehicles and trains and much more.
Debbie — Google review
One of the most exciting and friendly places to go if you are into history or love classic cars, trucks and bikes. Fantastic volunteers and staff, friendly atmosphere and café inside. One time ticket purchase gives you access for a year, sometimes there are events held like the classic bike show last weekend! It was excellent.
Callam T — Google review
Excellent surprisingly large museum, well presented with fascinating range of exhibits. The enthusiasm of the team is infectious, and the cafe definitely worth a visit too. Their collections are displayed with informative notice boards, and presented such that you can readily access sections that are of most interest to you. Outside there is plenty of space for specialist marque clubs and events, which added further interest and value to us on the day of our visit.
Anton G — Google review
My family and I visited back in November and again today, as initial entrance fee is valid for the entire year. This is excellent value for money, and the volunteers have done an amazing job to make this place look great. My 2 year old daughter absolutely loves this place. Even if your not particularly into motor vehicles, this museum is still an absolute gem. The museum displays include vehicles of all kinds, shops which you actually walk into and upstairs. Our favourite sections were being allowed upstairs on the double decker tour bus, model railway (which is huge) and when it's available- using the fire engine hose to knock down targets! Well done to all the volunteers that make this place such a great day out.

Samphire Hoe is a 30-hectare nature reserve located between Folkestone and Dover, created from the material excavated during the construction of the Channel Tunnel. It offers stunning views of the White Cliffs of Dover and provides opportunities for walks, picnics, angling, and dog walking. The site is bursting with wildlife, birds, butterflies, and wildflowers. Visitors can enjoy two miles of flat, traffic-free walking trails along with peaceful surroundings amid beautiful scenery.
A great place for a walk - we took our dogs and they enjoyed it too. Yes, you pay to park, but £2 for a whole day is a bargain. The cafe is closed indefinitely, according to a crude sign, so don't expect to be fed and watered. We loved the views and the closeup contact with the white cliffs.
Peter C — Google review
It’s a really nice place for a summer’s day walk , however be prepared to take a pack lunch as the cafe wasn’t open when we went. Definitely somewhere to go before exploring Folkestone sea front where there has been a lot of work done to make it more family friendly.
FLOS 5 — Google review
Nice place in Dover with beach, rock pools and a coastal walk. Parking available but it does get full pretty quick so it’s just a case of your luck on the day. Small cafe on site but you’re better off packing food if you plan on staying for the day. You can catch fish there too so if you’re coming with kids bring your nets!
Sami R — Google review
A short wait at the traffic lights and we were allowed to enter the tunnel Single lane for cars and quite steep. Car parks well sign posted. There is a cafe and toilet facilities. Parking can be brought in small sessions or £2 for the whole day. Amazing views of cliffs and coast. Several looped footpaths and dog friendly too. Dogs must be on leads as there can be grazing animals. We'll Def be back for a longer walk
Kev W — Google review
An excellent place to reconnect with nature. Start at the blue watch house, read the poem on the door and explore the inside. Then follow the path and notice the wildflowers and the buzz of the bees. It's a pollinator haven. If you can, go down to the beach, it's particularly nice at low tide. Practicalities - there are decent bathrooms, a small exhibition space and picnic benches. Parking is £2in cash, you can also use the RingGo app.
Micha N — Google review
We definitely enjoyed this easy coastal walk at Samphire Hoe. This was our second option after failing to find a parking space in Folkestone! I’m glad we decided to go here instead. The views are amazing! Some people can walk along the Sea wall where you will find couple of people fishing in that area. Others can follow the gravel path to the the beach. We did the latter. There is an area along the beach further down (toward Folkestone) which I think is a nudist beach - we didn’t go as far 🙈 but overall, it was such a lovely place for a quick walk with beautiful views. Samphire Hoe is part of the Geo Park together with the white cliffs of Calais in France. We had binoculars with us, so we saw those white cliffs across the English Channel. We also spotted some butterflies and birds like cormorants and probably some starlings.
Faith 2 — Google review
An Absolute Must-Visit! A true hidden gem with a dramatic entrance through a cliff tunnel leading to stunning sea views. Parking is a bargain at £2.50 for the day (free for disabled visitors) and can be paid by coin or the RingoApp, with free WiFi provided to help you connect. The main trail to the beautiful shingle beach is scenic and full of wildlife but can be uneven. For easier access, a separate path from the overflow car park is available but has a steep final hill. With toilets and picnic spots on-site, it's perfect for a simple, wonderful day out. We loved it!
Alan H — Google review
Beautiful short ish walk. Several routes avaliable on nice track paths or you can choose the flat and easy sea wall option which is wheelchair accessible. Car parking is £3 for the day which isn't bad and there is a cafe for snacks and hot drinks. Not much seating once you head off. Beautiful Cliffs and stoney beach once you get to the end. There is a hidden spring close to the bottom of the cliff on the beach but you have to traverse the stones to get there.

The Eight Bells is a cozy English pub located in the town's shopping precinct, offering a wide range of reasonably priced food and drinks. The pub features a long bar, ample seating, and a raised restaurant area. It also has an enclosed outdoor seating area with views of the town center and St Mary's Church. The name 'The Eight Bells' is derived from the church bells opposite the pub. The establishment hosts two beer festivals annually as well as a summer cider festival.
Nice place, cosy and relaxing. Staff are always around and happy to help, the food is good as well and the beer selection also includes lots of choices.

Great staff, quick table service via app orders. It was full pack because one of the busiest pubs in Dover. Friendly atmosphere. Bit noisy but all depend on your mood how you get it. Like traditional interior look.
Win T — Google review
Really enjoyed this pub. A wide variety on their food menu. Order on line or at the bar. Small and large portions are available. A good variety of local draft beers on tap. Plus plenty to choose from in their can/bottle selection. Friendly service as they let me taste a couple of the beers on tap. Also a large and clean restroom for patrons. A good experience while visiting Dover.
Jeff S — Google review
Myself and my wife came here for breakfast before travelling home. Although it was busy, what we ordered came out quicker than we expected. My wife was impressed with the fancy coffee machine, that dispensed cold coffee, having had 4 cups before I had even finished my first latte. (She drinks decaffeinated.) Friendly staff - Daisy was extremely helpful and attentive throughout our visit. Located very close to a car park. All the food that came out was freshly cooked and well presented on our plates. If/when we were to come back to the area, we will 100% be coming back again. Other branches/locations should follow their example, as this was such a good experience overall.

Stopped in here after driving down from Liverpool on our way to Germany (31/7/25) Arrived at 10pm and were greeted by a smiling, polite and very helpful young lady whose name I forgot to ask. We ordered food and drinks and took a seat in the quiet but friendly atmosphere. Food arrived quickly and was delicious, hot and well presented. A lovely short (and alcohol free) visit before our ferry. Absolutely nothing negative to say, very happy customers.

The Eight Bells is everything you want from a Wetherspoons and more. Great atmosphere, plenty of space, quick service, and prices that make you wonder why you’d go anywhere else. The food and drinks are always spot on, and the staff keep things running smoothly even when it’s busy. Honestly, I wish this was my local – I’d happily drive 5 hours just to spend an evening here. A proper gem of a pub.
Will M — Google review
What a lovely Wetherspoons.. The staff were super friendly, attentive, talkative, polite and very nice. (Especially, the man and woman behind the bar, who I think said they had known each other 9 years) they were so welcoming, to the point before heading home we had to return for another drink. We were so surprised to see a pint of Doom Bar for £2.10 and free refill Tea/Coffee for £1.04. The ladies toilets were up a couple of stairs and clean. The overall bar was clean and as with most Spoons a little dark inside. The bar was clean with a great display of drinks. There were some great pictures and frames etc on the walls. We also tried the new Mozart White Chocolate Cream Liqueur.. totally recommend this drink. All in all a lovely Wetherspoons, we would definitely visit if back in the area. The ales poured & settled well and tasted great. We could not have asked for more.
Star N — Google review
We visited the 8 bells for a Sunday brunch, they serve breakfast from 8am to 12am - breakfast deals are really cheap compared with the rest of the menu, totally worthy. We chose a vegetarian breakfast, mushroom Benedict and one coffee, as coffee allows refills we shared it. It was 10,81£ for 2, and portions are good size, so we recommend it, also a lot of other vegetarian options (sweet and savoury) and some vegan options, which I always appreciate. Quality of the food was good, nothing surprising but considering the price it met the expectations. Only negative point for me is that decoration is kind of dark and with low daylight and I prefer brighter places, but that’s something personal. Service was quick, although you need to order at the bar, but the they bring the food to the table.

What a lovely hidden gem. In town for 1 night and was recommended to eat here. Tucked away the place was super busy but staff were coping. No drama. Pizzas were great and hot, made to order. Great local ales on offer and staff were super friendly. Would return

Great place. Plenty of craft ales and excellent pizzas. Only thing that let it down - there was only one staff behind the bar. It took ages to get drinks every time.

Cycled from London today and planned to catch a train back. Without thinking, I ordered two pizzas and two amazing stouts (highly recommend if you love a good stout! 🍺). Then reality hit — we were short on time! ⏳ The team went above and beyond, rushing our order and even throwing in a pizza cutter so we could enjoy our food on the train. A+ hospitality and super tasty pizzas — absolute legends! 🙌🍕

used to be amazing, feels like it’s lost its way a bit? their own beers always seem to be sold out, and it’s only really generic branded beers available now sadly, pizzas still look good

Absolutely great find in Dover. The beers were smooth and the pizza was excellent. Brilliant value for money, quick and friendly service. You can also ask to get your favourite pints to be put in cans to take away. Dog friendly 🐶 Highly recommended!

Wonderful place. Real dilemma... They have a huge range of beers (cask and key keg) and normally I would work my way through a goodly number of halves. However, the first, 3.5% Dover Pale Ale is as fresh as you like and utterly delicious. Stick or twist? That’s the question. So many beers to try though...

The Phoenix Railway Social Club is a working men's social club with a cheap membership fee that is lively due to its large dancefloor, making it great space for larger parties. The club also has a parking area at the rear, an outside drinking area and a large screen for TV sports. There is also a darts skittles pool table and bingo on Thursday nights. A new play park is under construction and will open later this year.
Went to the club for a 30th birthday. Birthday girl looked like she was having a good time. And of course that's the important part. Food was plentiful. The drinks from the bar are an excellent price. It's just a pity about the smell. There is such a strong smell of mold in there....couldn't see any anywhere though. Will definitely go again and pop outside when I need to. Oh and there's bingo on ,on a Thursday. Happy days

The Louis Armstrong is a Kent-based performing arts pub which boasts regular live music on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as jazz on Sunday evenings. They serve real ales and cider, with a range of hearty home cooked meals available every Wednesday. As always, friendly staff and fantastic beer make this one of the top pubs in the area.
Lovely building which has recently seen refurbishment and restoration to the exterior - once again a fine looking local pub hosting a variety of live music entertainment and in particular, Jazz on a Sunday evening. Update 2023 - once again the pub is starting to look shabby .. which is a shame.

Comedy night with London based performers, Canterbury Tales, decor steeped in Jazz history of pub. Friendly and accommodating staff. It's my go to pub as a single lady.

I visited here today (Monday 18/09/2017) at about 13:30. I could see the TV was on...but despite trying both doors...I found them locked...no one answered them to allow entry? Won't be back. Luckily, 100m away is a fantastic pub, who actually open when they say so.

A CAMRA pub in the Good Pub Guide, so expect good ale. There are normally four ales on tap, plus a couple of lagers. Cider is available both on tap and bottled including various fruits. Wednesday is home cooking night with good main meals for £5 and ale reduced to £2.50 (both correct at time of review 2017). A renouned location for music every weekend. Sunday night is always jazz night, Friday and Saturday have a varied mix of live music.

Sweet sounds from great bands. User friendly rocked me last night and the band tonight were just getting started but i had to go. If you want a night out in Dover then i recomend The Louis Armstong 😀😀

Legendary pub music venue in Dover. Some great bands appear here, like Hey Rudi, although the stage is not in the best location. There is a good range of well kept local real ales available.

OK little pub. Went there on a live music evening and it was packed to the rafters!!! Left early as it was really to busy to move or stand in comfortably. Probably much nicer on a quiet evening.

Cullins Yard is a unique nautical restaurant and boat bar located in an old converted shipyard in Dover marina. The restaurant boasts a rich history, featuring original fixtures from Cullins Yard, World War memorabilia, and intriguing sculptures. With an eclectic menu catering to all tastes, the establishment prides itself on serving quality fresh food prepared with daily supplies from local butchers and fishmongers.
Beautiful place! Cullins Yard has an amazing setup—truly one of a kind. You can feel the heart, effort, and rich history poured into the venue the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is something special and can’t be replicated. The service was excellent; we were served by a tall gentleman (unfortunately we didn’t catch his name), but his attentiveness stood out. The food was great overall—though the dessert looked better than it tasted. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the venue and would happily return.

You can’t come to the United Kingdom and not stop at a proper British pub! Culling Yard is a classic sea port pub. Great atmosphere, good food and the beer and drinks are spot on. I always have to get a pie, chips and a pint anytime I make it in. Cullins delivers! If you’re walking around by the Dover Sea Front, do yourself a favor and wander over for lunch or dinner and a drink. You won’t regret it. The service is great and the pub is perfect!

3 of us came here for lunch on a weekend. This place is decorated in the most amazing way, its like a museum! Love the indoor seating, there's also lots of seating outdoors. We shared fish and chips and a side of veg, all delicious! I can imagine this place being so cosy in the winter too so good for all year round! Will definitely stop by again when I visit Dover.
Naomi — Google review
We’ve always been a fan of Cullins yard its atmosphere, it’s got a great outdoor area and the inside has enough to keep the eyes and mind busy. The offering of beers is good with nice European beers. The only flaw is the service and the portioning of the food. We had a bit of a ritual of when we are in town that we would go there sit in the sun and order fish and chips. The Cod is good but the sizes vary from order to order on our most recent visit we ordered the large Cod, when it showed up it was slight on the small size and the not many chips mostly hidden under the fish. The salad was tired. We highlighted to the waiting staff that there wasn’t much chips, they responded with that’s the portion. As we finished up we saw three customers food being delivered to their table the sheer size difference was very much noticeable we prompted the waitress to how could ours be considered a large when the one that just went past us had a larger considerably meatier piece of fish. She then gave us a response that was so undefinable that we couldn’t follow. What we considered might not be large by other large might be small. It was very hard to give a response to the waitress because it it didn’t make any sense what she said. The waitress continued by saying she couldn’t comment on the size of the portion as she didn’t make the dish. That in all honesty is an undermining the situation and shows a complete disregard for service. We all know waiting staff doesn’t cook the food and a simple we are sorry that you didn’t think the food portion size was not good enough and relaying to the kitchen/management would’ve gone a long way and would’ve been the end of the situation. It’s sad because overall we love cullens yard next time we will go for drinks only. I’ve included pics of our fish and the gents next to us fish.

Wonderful in every way. They had a brand new menu with excellent vegan options. Service was warm and prompt. The view is serene and scenic. Vegan meatballs were lovely and the portion size was generous. Highly recommended for vegans in Dover!

The Rock Rose is a family pub in Whitfield, Kent. Offering real ales and other alcoholic drinks as well as a restaurant, the pub focuses on delivering merchandise which is ethically sourced. It frequently holds special offers such as curry nights, pie nights, fish and chip nights and steak nights, all of which provide great food at good value. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a pleasant evening out.
Service was outstanding, incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delivered quickly and looked and tasted outstanding. The spicy burger was huge and packed with flavour and the skin on fries were crispy and melt in the middle. And the burger sauce made everything taste a hundred times better. The meals were affordable and the pitchers tasted delicious and were a good deal. The Salted Caramel Cookie Brownie was gooey and decadent with a light vanilla ice cream on the side, a good portion size and a delicious dessert. A great thank you to our server, Ryan, who made us feel welcome and maintained an upbeat attitude throughout the experience.

Food is good, very good. I am a huge fan of the burgher so I order it most of the time. Is a cosy place, when you seat there you will just lay back and relax. Even when the place is full is never too loud and you can have a normal conversation without shouting. At list twice a month we are there and just enjoy a nice meal and some chill. Service is always fast and the staff is always smiling and nice. Strongly recommend this place.
The D — Google review
The carvery at The Rock Rose offers excellent value for money – the food is well-priced for what you get. The choice of meat is cooked beautifully, tender and flavourful, and there’s a good choice of vegetables to go with it. The atmosphere is welcoming and family-friendly, and staff are generally friendly and helpful. At busy times (especially Sundays) there can be queues and the quality of some sides like roast potatoes can vary a little, but overall it’s a solid and satisfying carvery experience that’s well worth a visit.
Chris M — Google review
Was a nice quiet evening. The only issue to me, it's an self order place lacks the personal touch of a waiter or waitress. The bowls for the starter were rusted, and in contact with the food, a bit of a food safety issue. In general, the food was average, not enough sauces on the plate, but it tasted ok. Would go again but wouldn't be near the top of any list as a must go place.

Visited this evening it’s my third time to this establishment. As someone who runs a chain of country pubs, in high recommends The archer is a fabulous restaurant and bar. Great banter and friendly staff is always a plus. We will be back. Thank you Morgan ❤️❤️❤️ please don’t let me order as much next time 🤣 legends

Don't know what's happened to the Chinese food lately but today's was awful. It was like everything was chucked in the same uncle benz sause and frozen. I've never had a chop suey that came in gravy. And in all the food the meat was almost a slimy congealed texture. The chicken balls were just mushy and ineadable. Previously left a good review but after this experience will unlikely to try again. Sorry but I know you can do better.
Oliver — Google review
Weird situation here. Pub in front and Chinese restaurant in back. Suspect separate ownership. But they lack coordination. Chinese restaurant has no drink menu but they serve drinks from the pub. What kind of beer do you have? They have no idea. Ordered starter and entree. But entree comes first. This happens a lot at computerized chain restaurants but my order was given to the woman who seemed to be the owner here so no excuse. Would have knocked them down another star but food was somewhat tasty. Although Chicken Chop Suey was really just chicken with chinese onions and bean sprouts. But it filled me up and no major disasters.

Nestled in the heart of Market Square, The Elephant and Hind is a vibrant pub that has been a cornerstone of the Dover community for nearly 300 years. This lively establishment was formed from two historic pubs, the Walmer Castle Inn and Duchess of Kent, creating a welcoming atmosphere filled with music and camaraderie. With glass doors that open onto the square, it seamlessly blends indoor comfort with outdoor charm.
After struggling to find a dog friendly pub serving food midday, we were warmly welcomed and sat on a nice quiet table away from the bar. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating! The chef even came out and the service was so friendly and personal. I couldn’t recommend it enough. The Texan smash burger and chocolate fudge cake were excellent and well priced. The dogs had many treats brought out from the kitchen staff and the whole experience was so enjoyable and warming. Thank you to Sam, Daisy and Matt.

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, cheerful, and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious – full of flavor and beautifully presented. We asked our server for recommendations for both vegetarian and chicken dishes, and they gave us excellent suggestions that turned out to be just perfect. Everything we tried was spot on! What made the experience even better was the service. Our server was incredibly kind, joyful, and attentive. They made us feel right at home with their friendly attitude and really enhanced the whole dining experience. It’s rare to come across someone who clearly enjoys their job and goes the extra mile to make guests feel special. The National Trust - The White Cliffs of Dover is a must-visit destination offering stunning views of the English Channel and France. This iconic landmark, known for its historical significance as a natural defense for Britain, has become a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can explore walking trails along the cliffs, visit the visitor center with a coffee shop, and even take boat tours from the Marina for another perspective of this breathtaking site.
Amazing trail well looked after by national trust. Decent parking (paid per car). We had a beautiful sunny day when visiting with light breeze, so perfect conditions to walk to lighthouse and return. Stunning views over the canal and the Dover harbour. The trail is not too hard and is an absolute must to visitors in this area.

You can't book the weather but it will make or break a visit. Luckily for my visit it was clear and dry. France was visible through rain showers passing up the channel. Breathtaking walk along to the Fan Bay tunnels which are well worth a visit. Interesting tour led by knowledgeable volunteers.

White cliffs is an amazing place to visit, not necessarily you need to be super fit. Just take your time and enjoy the scenery. Amazing and breathtaking. (Especially the stairs if you decide to walk trough the Port😅) but if you want you can go with the car😊

Iconic & legendary site The white cliffs of Dover appeared in so many movies that I was really happy to see them with my eyes directly. I was not disappointed. The majesty of those cliffs is quite impressive. It is overall a beautiful area to walk around and get some amazing sea views. Not sure about those who saw the French coast, we could not. Maybe the day was just to dark? Those cliffs are gorgeous & we enjoyed our time here, the views on the castle are also great from here. I also recommend coming early as if you do, you will have the place for yourself. Note there were toilets available. Lat but not least, the parking was great but slightly challenging as you have to somewhat climb a bit with you car to reach it. Highly recommended visit!
Paul V — Google review
This was a bucket list of mine for a long time and it was well worth the wait. Do note: to get to the top you need to book a taxi because taxis are not always easy to find neither are Ubers. We were dropped off right by the cafe and gift shop. From there you begin walking along the chalk white hills with stunning views of the blue sea. The land is vibrant green with flowers and butterflies and birds. It is well preserved by the National trust and hats off to them for a job well done.

Stunning! The view of the white cliffs is breathtaking. Amazing trail to walk if you got more than one hour to spare. We got additional view of the Dover port also which is interesting too. No ticket needed, only pay if you drive and park your vehicle there.

Amazing walk at sunrise! Gravel trails are wide, even and extremely well marked. Can walk the trail all the way up to the lighthouse and then loop back around. Parking lot is triple leveled and actually open even before "opening" hours if trying to go at sunrise. Toilets at the cafe were very well kept and cafe had lots of fun gifts, great donation library and sweet little cafe. Lots of tables and spots to sit outside and look at the water. Awesome way to spend most of the day!

Our taxi dropped us off at the far end of the hike at the light house and we walked back to the visitor center. Absolutely stunning day and experience. Takes about an hour or two (with exploration/lots of pausing) to do the hike. There's a defined crumbled rock path and smaller trails leading along closer to the edge of the cliffs.

First time visiting this lovely 4 star hotel on the clean pebble beach front. The Dover Marina spa hotel has a few trendy restaurants on site. Unfortunately The Chophouse restaurant is closed for renovations. We enjoyed a nice evening meal and a few cocktails from the bar on the terrace patio area, which were lovely. Staff here are attentive, friendly & can't do enough to help, especially Dennis & José who made sure we were comfortable and everything correct. Other outstanding staff with explimarly impeccable customer service skills worthy of mentioning is Cha from the Churchill Bar and restaurant & chefs Daniel Kingsley. The afternoon teas dainty presentation is impressive. Fresh & tasty selection of cakes, finger sandwiches & a fresh clotted cream & jam scone which turned out to be quite filling! See attached photos. We stayed four nights in room 116 a very comfortable & spacious room on the first floor. We appreciated the air conditioning throughout during the current heatwave. There was an issue with the bedroom AC not working on day 3 but it was quickly repaired. On day one there were fire alarms going off which meant lifts didn't work so we had to walk up a couple flights of stairs with our luggage! Only two tiny lifts and old staircases so tried to avoid the lifts during check-in and checkout times. I had two rejuvenating relaxing 60 min spa massages over two days, from Katie & Donna who gave professional treatments. Check out Groupon first for afternoon tea & massage special offers as unfortunately booking spa offers directly worked out more expensive for me by £20+! Sadly their steam room was broken the whole time I stayed (closed due to heatstroke!). I was disappointed as steam room was my first preference. Just a short stroll to the town centre, on flat streets no steep hills good for those with less physical mobility. Limited chain stores, all basics covered. Overall, a nice first staycation experience. I will be returning! Thank you 😊 🙏

Very nice welcome and professional service from Rob. The bar area is elegant (for Dover standards). Rose wine (£28 per bottle) was actually quite good. Nestled in the charming village of Temple Ewell, just a stone's throw from Dover, The Fox Inn is a delightful English pub that truly embodies the spirit of community. With its picturesque beer garden featuring a gentle stream and ample seating, it’s an ideal spot for families to unwind. Kids can enjoy the play area while adults savor real ales and traditional pub fare.
I've been going to The Fox since I was a teenager 40+ years ago so it holds a special place in my heart. Although I've now moved away from the area, it's always nice to pop in when I can. My most recent visit was typical: a great pint of well-kept ale, a delicious plate of ham, egg and chips and a lovely catch-up with the owners Steve and Alison. It's the perfect village pub if you ask me. Long may it continue!

The Blériot Memorial is a stone monument located in Northfall Meadow, near Dover Castle, commemorating the historic crash landing of French aviator Louis Blériot. In 1909, Blériot made history by completing the first flight across the English Channel in a "heavier than air" aircraft. The memorial is built in the shape of Blériot's plane and stands as a tribute to his pioneering achievement.
Not that much to see, but a well thought out and will kept memorial to fhe first cross channel flight - nothing sorry of a miracle at the time. Never knew it was there until I spotted the sign and had to make a quick stop. Doesn't take long, and shouldn't be missed. Free to park, and free to visit

A well maintained memorial to Louis Blériot's successful flight across the channel in 1909, situated at the place he landed. There's some seating and an information board, though no other facilities. It's only a few minutes walk from the free parking area below Dover Castle.
Andrew T — Google review
Absolutely stunning hike to the Bleriot Memorial! The trail offers breathtaking views along the way, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination. The memorial itself is a fascinating piece of history, and the surrounding landscape adds to its charm. Highly recommend for both history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts!

Great place to stop at on the walk between the White cliffs and Dover castle. Really cool bit of aviation history
Jezzaftw — Google review
Floor plaque for Bleriot where he landed his plane after crossing the channel. Its located in the Dover castle overflow car park behind the castle. Nothing there apart for a information board and a seating area.
Rob — Google review
Quite difficult to find from the road and the memorial is small but nice. The car park is quite big with a good view of Dover Castle
Jonathan E — Google review
More a woodland walk than a museum, but a lovely and tranquil place. The memorial is small but interesting. The main reason to come here is on a hot sunny day when you want some fresh air and plenty of shade. There's loads of parking and it's only busy when Dover Castle has an event on and they use it for overflow parking. Otherwise it's nice and quiet and you can wander around, appreciate nature and just relax. It's not a big place, so you won't be here that long, but it's a nice way to spend the time.
Perfect R — Google review
The memorial is well presented but the surrounding area is completely overgrown(and different from when Bleriot flew in, so you cannot see the relative location of the site). The footpath to the memorial was blocked by a fallen tree which we picked our way round. When we visited the car parking was nearly all blocked by a film crew's marquees etc. The information provided about Bleriot is interesting.

Dover Town Hall is a historic building with a rich heritage dating back to 1203. It is currently undergoing restoration, offering visitors the chance to witness the conservation team at work in a conservator's lab. The building has been praised for its stunning architecture and historical atmosphere, making it a popular choice for events such as weddings.
Such a stunning building and beautifully renovated! I am pleased to have captured the reopening of Maison Dieu and cannot wait to work at this venue again. It has wheelchair access throughout most of the building, which is lovely to see at a historic building.
Nastia P — Google review
A beautifully preserved medieval building steeped in history. The recent renovation has tastefully preserved the hall's historic features while expanding access and improving the visitor experience. We did a loop around the two larger rooms. You don't need to spend any more than 15 minutes here but we spent nearly an hour! Staff at the front desk were very informative and friendly, even going so far as to show us a 3D virtual tour of the building pre-refurb. As it is only a 10 minute walk from Dover Priory station, it is a must see for anyone visiting the White Cliffs.
Max M — Google review
Great attraction, really well renovated. You will not spend too long here but it is worth a visit. I am told they plan to open a cafe in the future.
Andrew P — Google review
What a hidden gem. Room upon room of history, set in a grand architectural background. Former kings and queens stood here, and used up to modern day council chambers and courts. And you can even stay to savour full immersion.

Excellent and well worth the diversion. Far better than the museum down the road. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who were happy to share details or leave you on your own. Just like a modern "experience" should be.

The Lord Nelson Riverside Bar is a lovely pub with great food and a beautiful setting. The inside is stunning and the outside decking is great for enjoying the warm weather. Unfortunately, there were some issues with the beers that meant some of them weren't available, but luckily they have a great selection of other drinks. Overall, this was an excellent stop on our travels and I would definitely recommend it to others.
That was the best Sunday roast I've had in a long time! Thank you 👍 All home cooked, beautiful flavours, the food was absolutely delicious. Fully recommend a visit 10/10.
Joanne H — Google review
That was so delicious. I had the Sunday roast with beef, it was so good. The red cabbage was spiced perfectly with star anise, the beef was sliced delicately and tender, potatoes roasted by a professional and a huge fluffy Yorkshire pudding all covered in gravy. I’m so full and satisfied. I tried a chip of my wife’s fish and chips and wow, I love this place. You can sit outside over the river and dogs are welcome. The service was spot on, I just can’t say enough of how great everything was. It’s a definite 5 stars plus more if I could give them.
David M — Google review
Had a lovely Sunday roast and enjoyed a few pints on the outdoor patio. Highly recommend for an afternoon pint in the sun.

Passed by on a walk to the castle from the cruise ship terminal. Love to see the English Pubs and their coats of arms and thematically this would be the place for me as I have long respected and admired Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson. Sadly it was not open when I passed in the morning and I was too tired on the way back after trudging around for hours.
Graham T — Google review
Had a really nice meal at the Lord Nelson off the back of a recommendation from a local friend. We popped in before a party in town for a drink and some food and it didn't disappoint. My partner had the fish and chips which had a light crispy batter and amazing mushy peas and tartare sauce. I had the sea bass with crushed potatoes and caper butter which was amazing too. We had a side of the calamari which came with a dip and side salad which added to this excellent starter. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Definitely recommend trying this lovely little bar and restaurant.
Tom F — Google review
Table of 10 all had great food. I personally had the sea bass and swapped the new potatoes for mashed potato. No quibbles more than happy to do so. The sea bass was phenomenal. Crispy on the skin and succulent fish. The best sea bass I have had. I would 100% recommend.. portion sizes are perfect. 10/10 Small menu but something for all. Enables the food to be top top quality
Sam W — Google review
Visited this adorable pub/restaurant after a huge walk to the castle and cliffs. We got a table straight away. So far, the best fish and chips I've had in the UK, also the best Mushy Peas I've ever had (and I don't like mushy peas all that much). The server (I'm so sorry whoever was working that day- Thursday 22nd May, around 7pm, I didn't catch your name), was amazing and very attentive. If we find ourselves in Dover again, we will definitely return.

Buffers Sandwich Bar and Coffee Shop is a small but delightful spot that offers a variety of tasty options. From customizable sandwiches to perfectly cooked eggs and bacon, this place has something for everyone. The menu also features an ever-changing selection of cakes and desserts. While the seating is limited, the friendly service and excellent coffee make it a great choice for a quick bite or takeaway. With reasonable prices and high-quality food, it's no wonder why visitors keep coming back for more.
Excellent food made by the most charming lady! Three of us got either an egg and sausage or an egg and bacon sandwich, and we all loved them! Soft bread, delicious sausage or bacon and freshly fried egg - all for a reasonable price. Plus, we had a delightful conversation with the lady as she fried the eggs for our sandwiches. Bring cash or go to the cash machine around the corner like we did. No card accepted.

Best place to get your lunch or breakfast from if you like to decide what you want in your roll or sandwich. Propper coffees as good as Costa just doesn't Costa as much. And the cakes are 👌

Just the kinda place I needed it to be. Inexpensive with high quality food. No complaints; really liked my sandwich. Plus, banter with the lady at the counter was fun.

Having walked past this place on my way to the station for years, I finally went in the other day and it is just brilliant. The lady who runs it is lovely and she made me the best tuna salad roll - really quickly. The coffee is excellent and nothing is over-priced. Not walking past there any more if I can help it :-)

It's a decent little sandwich place that does good bacon butties etc. in the morning and nice coffee. It is very small with no seating, so is really takeaway only. They might have some seats out in the better weather. Food is pretty decent and excellent value. The lady who served me was friendly and pleasant. Would recommend.

Nestled in a vibrant area, Les Fleurs stands out as a beloved bar and pub among locals and travelers alike. This charming spot is conveniently located near various eateries, including those serving traditional Turkish dishes. Guests often rave about the welcoming atmosphere at nearby hostels that offer cozy accommodations with private bunk beds featuring curtains for added privacy. The facilities are well-maintained, providing clean bathrooms segregated by gender—a detail appreciated by many visitors.
Stayed in the hostel! I planned to arrive at 10pm but my bus was an hour late. The owner stayed up for me without notice and was so friendly and efficient. The place is super cool! Clean and comfortable. Fast wifi, big washroom and shower that was clean and very homey. I would stay here for the atmosphere alone but the great service and amenities are the icing on the cake :))
Kailey B — Google review
Seems beautiful from the outside, but it's very much a hostel in a cramped old building. It does the job, as the beds were good, but the shared bathroom was not a good experience. Pretty sure the person that checked us in was drunk/high af.
Calin L — Google review
Didn't visit the bar, just stayed at the hostel above. Here I was warmly welcomed and shown around. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and private with a curtain. Each bed had its own lamp but unfortunately no socket. There were sockets distributed in the room. There was fast free WiFi throughout the house. The bathroom was big and clean. Overall I had a wonderful undisturbed stay. I can only recommend!
Jan S — Google review
Stayed at the room for one night, Jeff was so kind and the style of the rooms and bathroom has such character! Cozy like a home, clean, kitchen access and quiet.

Landlord was super friendly and welcoming our room was clean and inviting for a super price. The bar was welcoming but unfortunately, as like most smaller pubs, was quiet which is unfortunate as the landlord is a welcoming chap as is the staff who work with him would have loved to try the food but having my 6 year old who got hungry on our journey down was forced to stop en route but maybe next time.
Luke P — Google review
Arrived much later than our planned 2330 hrs time but still received a warm welcome. Managed to find a space for our bicycles too. A comfortable bed and organised facilities. It would be good to stay a bit longer next time. Bring ear plugs - it is in the middle of Dover.

Lovely and clean hostel with seperate bedrooms for men and women. Free use of lockers. Cozy bunkbeds with curtains for privacy. The city center and castle are within walking reach. If you're seeking for an affordable place to stay for the night, this is a good choice.
Luxterias — Google review
Lively friendly pub, a proper drinking pub. They don't serve food but I arrived on a darts match night so the landlord haf laid on pizza & they generously invited me to tuck in. I'd already eaten but it was a much appreciated gesture. The hostel was pretty good, generous sized bunk beds with clean sheets & a curtain for privacy. The shared bathroom shower was a good size & clean. As a place to catch a few hours kip before catching a ferry it was perfect, especially considering the price. Great value, definitely would use again.

WOW!!!!! We LOVE this place! The food was amazing!!! Not your average pub food, this was ELEVATED pub food that could have come from a 5-star restaurant!!! And the service was very friendly and helpful! Our table had the fish and chips, mushroom risotto, house burger, bangers and mash, and the pan seared duck breast. I like duck a lot .. and this was THE MOST TENDER duck I have EVER EATEN, it was delicious! And the bangers and mash were excellent .. all the food was excellent!!! For dessert, I truly and honestly licked the bowl!!! I'm not big on sweets but the chocolate cremeux pistachio sauce honeycomb ice cream dessert was probably the best dessert I've EVER eaten! No joke and not exaggerating. At the time is this review, they were serving their Autumn Menu. All around the room we are in had people's times and dates of their channel crossing, we meet 2 people who had swam there channel! I hope that we will be back in Dover someday, I would love to go back and eat there again! ... and of course the beer was excellent too!

We came here for dinner on the recommendation of a local that we met on our train ride. She was spot on. The atmosphere was comfortable, the staff was friendly, the cider was delicious and the fish and chips were amazing! My husband and I who don’t eat large meals shared one and we were glad that we did. My only regret was that we did not have enough room for the toffee pudding.

One of the best Sunday Roasts I have ever had:) I have planned a day trip to Dover Castle and this is my lunch break stop - Roasted Pork Belly is amazing with the crispy skin and tendered juicy fat. The side is surprisingly good - normally the roast will be with roasted veggie but the cheese cauliflower amazed me!
Kitty C — Google review
The pub was warm and cozy, the Staff absolutely friendly, despite having plenty to do, they were always smiling and looking if everything was alright. Some Minor mishap with the dessert (Timing went wrong and my friends arrived earlier than mine) was no big Deal with everyone doing their best to bring it out as fast as possible. The food was absolutely delicious and arranged beautifully. I highly recommend this place!

Such friendly and helpful staff and customers. My mother in law and I came in in a panic as we needed to find a place to stay last minute as our planned place had fell through, and we found a very friendly place where everyone sprang into action to help us find somewhere nice and safe to stay. Thank you to everyone that helped us ❤️❤️

Typical old style local pub. The two good beers had run out so had to make do with an Amstel, don't know if it was just where I was sitting but the pungent smell of the toilets was drifting towards my table. The barmaid was fairly friendly and by the sound of it was run off her feet which probably explains why my arms were sticking to the table as there probably wasn't enough time to clean them. Maybe on a different day I would've had a better experience?

Being disabled, diabetic, walking with a stick and other ailments. I desperately needed the toilet and so I went in here and asked if I could use the toilet. Yes some landlady or barmaid said, but put some money in the charity box. I was upset by this. People should think 🤔

googled things to do in dover as we were there for the night before going on to calais the next day as foot passengers.this pub had great reviews so we sought it out. when we first walked through the door i thought we were in somebody's front room, small place with a couple of tables and some easy chairs, no bar. was greeted by the owners who fetch your drinks once you have made a choice from the menu on the wall.there were just over half a dozen people in, 4 were fellow travelers from the midlands and the other 3 locals, everybody chatted and laughed together for the entire time we were in the pub, it was a completely new experience, the owners and their daughter were also lovely. if you're in dover for a night and you like a decent pint and a chat, this place is a must.

As I mentioned above, businesses with history, football and so on in general do not deserve to "die" like this!... Today, the seventeenth of September, I was here. It is an amazing business that has passion. I'm not a native Dover, nor an Englishman, but I can at least recommend this wonderful establishment full of noisy and good-hearted Englishmen. ME: I am sitting on a comfortable bar stool, upholstered. My "ritka" (it's mean a "BUM") is fine... I will order a beer AND ASK PERMISSION to take pictures of the premises. I don't even answer, so the barmaid immediately starts calling the owner (+)... Within 114 seconds, the owner is downstairs, where I dream of announcing, finding out how things are going here, and last but not least, praising his staff. Beauty to do with such people. No food served here, card payment over £5, free billiards for all "drink them". Beautiful surroundings, full of LIVERPOOL.... Beautiful, safe, clean premises. Parking behind the building, on the street. Beautiful, gentle.. .Just kidding... Because the beer is so harsh that you need another one. And that's just fine, for this establishment.! I recommend 5 out of 5!!!

Stumbled across this by accident as we got very lost in the area. Craig and his wife were brilliant hosts had a few drinks lots of laughs, really felt welcome 😄 made our evening complete. Drinks good prices locals were friendly they even called us a cab to get us back to where we were staying and shots were an added bonus. Thanks Craig couldn't have done more for us and made us more welcome. Anyone nearby must visit won't get better hosts anywhere. Jeff and Jen (Essex)

The Staggered Inn is a charming micro pub located in Kent, offering a wide selection of locally sourced ciders as well as beers from different regions. The establishment also houses the Dovers Breakwater Brewery & Taproom, which not only serves as a brewery but also features a wood-fired pizza restaurant. Visitors praise the friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by the host, Jay, and appreciate the character of the small yet inviting space.
Popped in for a swift 1/2 of the local ale and ended up staying a lot longer than anticipated! Decor is beautiful and when you look around its all stag themed (Which is clearly synced with the name of the pub) Amazing selection of ciders too and all reasonably priced. A warm friendly welcome from both landlord and landlady when she popped in later on with homemade sausage rolls which may I add were to die for!!!! Will be back for sure
Dana E — Google review
Cracking little micropub tucked away on the High Street, about a ten-minute stroll from the train station. Got a genuinely warm welcome from the fella behind the bar (wish I’d caught his name) — proper friendly. Inside, there are four or five tables by the window overlooking the street, plus a few stools at the bar. Out back, there’s a sunny little beer garden with a handful of tables — perfect spot to relax. The cider selection was top-notch: at least six different choices on tap. I had a pint of raspberry followed by a pint of mango — both just £4 a pop. When I commented on the price, the barman smiled and said, “I know what you're going to say. It's cheap.” Spot on. There were also several IPAs on offer, if that's more your thing. All in all, a proper gem — well worth a visit.
Jeremy P — Google review
Lovely welcoming micropub with a selection of three cask ales available. They cater for cider drinkers too but I came just for the beer. The beer is very reasonably priced. At £4 a pint it is cheaper than the two other pubs I visited. I will come again on my next visit to Dover.
James C — Google review
Jay is a friendly, old school landlord who knows his craft and has a great range of exceptionally well kept ales and an even longer list of local ciders. My good friend, who lives in Dover, has been telling me for ages what a great little pub this is and I wasn't disappointed when he finally took me there. I just wished I had this kind of place on my doorstep.
Paul N — Google review
A truly welcoming place! The landlord and landlady are lovely, the drinks are out of this world, and the venue is beautiful. Plus, it's dog-friendly! Highly recommended.

Clock Tower Square & Marina Curve in Dover is a modernized harbor area offering stunning views of the seafront, harbor, castle, and town. The iconic independent Pedaler coffee shop at the Marina Curve provides a relaxing atmosphere with occasional live performances. Visitors can enjoy live music on Sundays during summer months and explore various dining options. The area also features a promenade, pier, and views of the Western Heights from Clock Tower Square.
Well kept waterside space with an attractive clock tower and impressively long pier. Sculptures and memorials in the area honour Dover's maritime and military history, and there are good views back to the famous white cliffs. This area has seen welcome regeneration in recent years, and is now well provided for with public toilets and a refreshments stall.
Andrew T — Google review
Reviews of Dover's Clock Tower Square and Marina Curve are generally positive, highlighting the beautiful views and pleasant atmosphere, but some reviewers suggest the area could be more vibrant. The area features cobbled paths, flower beds, and classic street lights. The Marina Curve, part of the Western Docks Revival project, aims to attract shops, bars, cafes, and restaurants, offering a variety of dining and entertainment options.
Rajib S — Google review
I have to say a good name for this area would be the curve of disappointment... Dover really missed the opportunity to make this area big for the jubilee weekend. It was advertised as having live music from 1 till 4 but no sign of any music at all. There are about 4 little kiosks there but not a lot else, so much wasted space! This area really could be as big of a success at the harbour arm in Folkestone with the right planning. I really could imagine live music being a regular thing on the weekend with different outdoor areas for people to enjoy. It's a clean kept area, just think it needs more love and use from its towns folk.
Moondust S — Google review
Clock Tower Square & Marina Curve offer stunning views of the deep blue sea and endless sky, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere. From this beautiful waterfront location, you can gaze into the distance and admire the majestic Dover Castle perched high on the cliffs, standing as a timeless guardian over the coast. The combination of historic charm and natural beauty makes this a perfect spot for relaxation and sightseeing.

I can't recommend these guys enough! I've been to a couple of their events and everything is awesome. Their grounds are well kept and beautiful. All of the staff are lovely. It's very well organised. The lastest event we went to was the Easter one and there was so much to do, we purchased the tickets for the children at £10 each (there was cheaper tickets available) and £5 for me. This included an egg for each child, petting zoo (cutests animals ever), book corner, crafts, challenges (im probably foretting stuff). Then there was extra things to pay for like rides, bouncy castle, gel blasters and they were all very decent prices. The food options they had put me in my element, i think i tasted everything they had. Me and the children had such a brilliant time, I'd never miss an event there now!
