Park
Nature & Parks
Park Sonsbeek is a vast expanse of parkland and gardens featuring an 18th-century mansion, fountains, and a water mill. It offers beautiful cycling and walking paths in the surrounding area of Arnhem. The park overlooks the city from a hilltop, providing an ideal spot for picnics. Additionally, visitors can enjoy lunch at The Stadsvilla Sonsbeek located within the park or explore the Watermuseum at its base.
This park combines the forest with the metro and the Great landscape all at once. A great for a walk or cycle, even a bit of romance is fine. You will meet with positive-minded people here. The place to come to. Highly recommended 👌
Nameer K — Google review
Wonderful park that gets quiet when you go deeper, and you can also walk the dog without a leash there. Usually you'll be able to spot some swans and in spring many birds are giving their hatchlings swimming lessons.
Rogier S — Google review
Properly one of the most beautiful city parks Western Europe. Sonsbeek is undoubtedly Netherlands and Arnhem's most famous park, just a five-minute walk from Central Station and the city center.
Bernhard H — Google review
A beautiful park to walk around and not far from the Central train station too.
Cindy H — Google review
What a beautiful park! It's simply lovely and such a delightful place to spend time. Arnhem is such a friendly city, and this park is just a quick 10-minute stroll from the very centre. You can't help but feel happy being here!
Mina D — Google review
waterfalls add to its beauty. The terraces planted with flowers of various colors are enchanting. It’s a peaceful, quiet, and clean park. We didn’t explore the whole place, but you can also have a meal at the café near the entrance.
Mustafa A — Google review
Beautiful place. Love to walk here
Roshan R — Google review
Great park, as a kid I have been visiting this park pretty regular, now I visit it with my son. It has a nice little waterfall, you can walk through a tunnel beneath the water. It has Deers, in the weekends they have all sorts of activities.

National park
Nature & Parks
The National Park De Hoge Veluwe is a stunning natural reserve that spans an impressive 13,300 acres of diverse landscapes, including forests, heathlands, and sand dunes. Once the private estate of the Kroller-Muller family, this park now serves as a sanctuary for wildlife such as red deer and wild boar. Visitors can explore over 42 kilometers of designated cycling and walking trails that wind through picturesque pine forests and open sandy areas.
This national park is great for all kinds of visits, from family visits to solo visits and even vacation. There are plenty of free facilities for you to fill your day with excitement. You can bring your own bike or rent a free bike at the location. It is very accessible by car and there are plenty of bike in each park entrance for you to be using. You can park in a parking lot in every entrance and only paying €4.75 for a whole day! You may encounter different scenarios of wild animals, I encountered a wild boar. If you have a children, you can go to one of the playground near the large hub in the middle. You don’t need to worry about peeing there, as there is a lot of free to use bathrooms for you to enjoy in the park, as most toilet needs to pay to enter in Europe. I strongly recommend that you should bring your picnic accessories with you to picnic, as there is plenty of green grass and good view for you to picnic on.
Avery Y — Google review
Spent the whole afternoon here, biked the whole national park loop, took us about 3hrs including stops for pics and deer viewing. Scenery is super nice from lush forests to dunes and dry grasses (Safari feels!). White bikes are free! One size only for adults, good enough for me (5ft), all bikes only with footbrake :D
Gin T — Google review
The park is very beautiful, with several types of landscape, forest, veld (heather fields), dunes, lake. We did not see any wildlife, but we were not there very early, so probably not the best hours. The free white bikes helped us travel through the park - the bikes are quite basic, but well maintained and it is very welcome that the park made it part of the experience. All in all, we spent a great day at Hoge Veluwe!
Thomas V — Google review
Beautiful park with a variety of ecosystems. Very well maintained with a network of hiking and cycling paths. The restaurant at the main entrance had delicious meals. Basic bicycles wit child seats are free to use and need no booking. They also had tandum bicycles, bicycles with a wheelchair in front and electric bikes to rent.
Marika B — Google review
I was really surprised by this place which became one of my favorite at all. I didn’t expect such a beauty. The nature was so various! The dense forest, lakes, so many different trees and plants, or sand dunes… Views on all of this was truly stunning. One day is definitely not enough to thoroughly explore this place, it is so huge! You can find, after relaxing in and enjoying the wild forest, many branches where to stop and admiring the surrounding or just rest. Toilets are available as well (of course that not on many places). When i returned, I felt so replenished, so well… thank to this beautiful place!
Klara D — Google review
It is one of the best national parks with great cycling routes and museums inside the park. The greenery is utterly stunning and quite beautiful. The cafes inside offer quite good food options as well. You can get a bike inside the national park which makes the exploration quite easy and fun. Also, if lucky, one can spot deers too. Worth every penny!
Sai S — Google review
We visited the park on a sunny day, and it was nice. The free white bikes (with pedal brakes) are available at the main entrances and the museum, and cycling around was a fun way to explore. It’s easy to cover quite a bit of ground, and the landscapes change as you go, so it doesn’t feel quite boring. We didn’t see many animals, just a deer or two and some birds, but there are spots where you can sit and wait. We weren’t actively looking for wildlife, though. One thing to note is that you have to pay for the park entrance if you just want to visit the Kröller-Müller Museum, which some might find annoying. The museum itself was nice, and the sculpture garden is worth checking out. If you can, bring your own food or picnic as there are places to sit and eat. If you’re leaving through the Hoenderloo entrance, grab an ice cream from IJs van Co. It’s a sweet way to end the day.
Anjali G — Google review
Huge nature area with 40 km of cycle tracks plus loads of walking trails. Bikes are included in the entry fee. Quite expensive to take the car in but it is 3km from the entrance to the central visitor centre . Not crowded at all and open until 10pm in June and July with the restaurant serving until 9.30pm. Well worth a visit.

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Burgers' Zoo is a remarkable destination that offers visitors an immersive experience into the world of wildlife, showcasing animals in environments that closely resemble their natural habitats. Spanning an impressive 45 hectares, this expansive zoo features diverse ecosystems including a safari park, indoor tropical rainforest, and even a seawater aquarium. Each exhibit is thoughtfully designed to cater to various rare species from around the globe, making it not just a zoo but also a conservation-focused sanctuary.
Not a massive fan of zoos but I think this one is done very well, and for the right reasons. The different sections felt very well done, you immerse yourself into the various climates of where the animals live. The information about the various wildlife was also well spread and accessible. I also think the information about the elderly elephant is handled appropriately. A decently large walk if you want to visit everything, which speaks well to the amount of space the animals are given. The animals don't appear as distressed as I've seen in other zoos.
Hubert M — Google review
This is a wonderful zoo, one of the best I have visited in Europe. The forest in the middle of the park is amazing and very diverse in terms of plants and animals, and there's also a waterfall. A lot of animals had newborns, which was very cute. The sea zone was very beautiful, of course limited in size as it is not the main focus of the park (if you like water animals, make sure you visit the one in Barcelona). Downsides: too many people which created crowds, and no staff around the park to help.
Scarlett O — Google review
Such a beautiful and fun zoo! Would definitely recommend for adults and for children. As an adult that likes to go to zoo’s that are not just for kids, this is a great pick! A full day is needed to visit here and be prepared for different types of biomes, this is the most interesting ! There are restaurants located around, and I would recommend the Bush restaurant! The food is quite pricy for what it is.
Taya M — Google review
I went their with my wife and daughter( 2 years old). The park has huge car parking (paid) with electric car chargers. Overall the park is huge and very well built. There are enough benches to sit and observe. The observation decks are very well positioned, and the safari restaurant has amazing views of the African safari lands. Their is great variety of food options, even for kids. The food was lekker. Overall the entire experience was just amazing.
Himanshu Y — Google review
This was a wonderful zoo experience. One the rare “cageless” habitats and it was wonderful to see the animals roam around in rather large habitats. Beautifully designed, and aesthetically pleasing. Parking costs 9 EUR and approx 29 EUR for a single ticket for adults. It can take somewhere between 3-4 hours to leisurely see all exhibits
Gaurav R — Google review
Always nice to go here..! Is calm and peaceful… The animals are well taken care of and monkeys are my favorite! Mangrove is my favorite place to visit… It a nice funny cute and a great zoo to visit
GJ — Google review
It was okay. It's a large area where you can walk. But some animals were hard to see (Chita, the lions), and some places were closed off completely, so we didn't see any animals there. There's a nice big restaurant on the premises, and some good souvenirs.
Viktoria E — Google review
It is an interesting Zoo which offers animal as much nature space as possible. With the map you can explore all different parts of the zoo. But with the open nature it also creates some challenges, it might be sometime difficult to trace where the animals are, which brings down the experience slightly. Quite some food choices inside the canteen and plenty of paid parking space inside as well

The Netherlands Open Air Museum in Arnhem offers a captivating journey through Dutch heritage, showcasing traditional buildings and transport exhibits. Visitors can immerse themselves in the country's history, with guides dressed in period costumes bringing the past to life. Spanning 44 hectares, this living museum features a diverse collection of historic structures from different regions of the Netherlands.
It was worth the visit, the place is huge and every nook and corner has something to offer. Beautifully managed surroundings, family picnic is a great option, kids of all ages and even adults can easily find things to amuse them. History is depicted and preserved in a very nice manner.

Incredible experience! So much amazing history to discover and many interactive exhibits like the weavers and the blacksmiths. The grounds are stunning and expansive. You can tour the grounds on the trolley which is super fun for kids. There is an entire section of the ground dedicated to kids activities. The restaurant and Cafe was really nice with many vegan options including pastries! The gift shop is very nice with many good Dutch gifts.
Evan G — Google review
In my opinion the best museum in the Netherlands, bar none. Well worth the ticket price and whatever the train costs coming here. The entire museum is extremely well maintained. Facilities are unbelievably sanitary. The food served in the "restaurant corner" of the museum is reasonably priced and mouth-watering good. The fries are a must try. The exhibits offer a detailed look into history, with content written in both Dutch and English. The experience is thoughtfully divided into sectors, each containing exhibits from different time periods. Historic trams run frequent headways in a circular route around the museum. These are free to board and a wonderful way to have a look around. Of course, the museum is 100% walkable. 10/10 experience. The day went by in a flash - will be back.

The Netherlands Open Air Museum in Arnhem is a fantastic destination for families with children. The open layout gives kids plenty of space to run and explore, and there’s something exciting to discover around every corner—from old windmills and traditional farmhouses to vintage trams that take you around the museum grounds. It feels like stepping into a living storybook of Dutch history. What really makes it special for children is how interactive and hands-on everything is. There are live demonstrations of old crafts like weaving, blacksmithing, and even bread baking—many of which kids can try themselves. Throughout the museum, staff dressed in historical clothing bring the past to life with friendly explanations and fun activities. There’s also a playground area and child-friendly exhibits that keep little ones engaged and curious. The museum is very well-organized, with clean facilities, family-friendly paths for strollers, and several places to eat or picnic. It’s the kind of place where both kids and adults can learn, play, and enjoy a full day outdoors together. If you’re visiting the Netherlands with your family, this museum is an absolute must-see!
Mehmet Y — Google review
Lovely place in Holland. If you have the museum card and you go with your family, this is a great place to spend the day at. The nature is beautiful, the tram is fun for the kids, you could see farm animals and enjoy the different family activities. I love the Dutch concept of having open air museums where you can see the history of the country.
ALMUDENA S — Google review
Beautiful museum about Dutch history and how people were living in the past century. We visited during a busy weekend but because the size of the park it does not feel crowded. A tram can be used to travel quickly from one location to another. Not only the buildings are in perfect condition, but also the landscape, the gardens, the trams etc. are well maintained. Definitely worth a visit.

Sights & Landmarks
The John Frost Bridge, named after a British officer and rebuilt in 1948, holds historical significance for its role in the Battle of Arnhem. Visitors can take a walk along the Rhine river bank to reach the bridge, passing by the first Airborne Memorial with informative boards and a viewpoint. Nearby, the Slag of Arnhem / Battle of Arnhem Info Center provides insights into the bridge and battle.
What a beautiful town!! Historical too
Francis M — Google review
Fantastic trip here to see a monument of legendary status! There is a great little visitors centre just along the bridge, with excellent information about the area and bridge. This is free, but donations are gladly accepted, so be good with the ol' tip jar! If you're staying anywhere local, this is definitely worth visiting. We didn't stop in the town but looked nice and typically Dutch.
A B — Google review
Wonderful site to visit for anyone interested in World War II history or that is a fan of the movie "A Bridge Too Far." The Arnhem bridge was the bridge the Allies fell short of taking in Operation Market Garden in September 1944. The current bridge was named in honor of the British Lt. Colonel John Frost of the British 1st Airborne Division who led a small force of 740 men in a valiant attempt to take the bridge. German forces at the bridge proved much stronger than expected and American and British reinforcements were delayed by unexpected German resistance on the road to Arnhem. After four days of fighting, the British force at the bridge was overrun. The movie was not filmed here at the bridge because the buildings had changed so much in the ensuing years that the location no longer resembled its appearance in 1944. The bridge in the film is located at Deventer several miles away. A great site to visit for the history buff!
Bill D — Google review
Great piece of history and well worth the visit, you get a real sense of what went on in this place, way back on the 17'th September 1944. There is a good museum that is free to enter and very informative, with a small display and good loos. Definitely worth a visit if you in to your WWII history as it is a beautiful place to visit even if it's a stroll down the river to check out the local bars. Please give me a like for the review many thanks Marcus 😃
Marcus S — Google review
A must visit location if you have any interest whatsoever in World War Two and the British Airborne Division's attempt to shorten the war by capturing this bridge. Although the original bridge was destroyed later in the war, this second replacement bridge is near identical. I was actually surprised how high and large it is. The bridge is very busy with traffic but the pedestrian paths are fine. In my opinion, this bridge should be visited in conjunction with the free to enter "Airborne Museum at the Bridge" museum which is a few hundred metres away on the northern banks of the River Rhine. Memorials to the brave British and Commonwealth troops who fought the ferocious battle at this bridge in September 1944 can be found dotted around the bridge, the river banks and Arnhem itself. I also strongly recommend visiting the Airborne Museum Hartenstein. Oosterbeek which is only a short bus ride from Arnhem Central bus and railway station. The contribution of the British, Commonwealth, Polish Parachute Brigade, the Dutch , American and the German occupiers is covered in detail there. "Lest We Forget"
PW — Google review
Bridge stands as a monument to those who fought and died in operation market garden although the third bridge since the original it looks identical in every way. Airbourne museum is full of history and worth a visit
David A — Google review
Best known as the "Bridge Too Far" from a tragic battle in WWII, the bridge stands as a reminder near Arnhem, Belgium. The cemetery is a reminder of that battle in 1944 and the high cost of war. Definitely worth a visit if you are anywhere in the area. Make it a part of your next trip. Thought-provoking and educational.

The Airborne Museum at the Bridge is a historical museum that provides a detailed account of the Battle of Arnhem, showcasing artifacts and conducting interviews with Allied soldiers. Housed in Hartenstein, which was once the headquarters for the British 1st Airborne Division, this museum offers a remarkable collection of military memorabilia from Operation Market Garden. Visitors can immerse themselves in videos, photographs, and personal accounts to gain insight into the significance of this pivotal event.
For a small museum it was surprisingly good. On the main floor, at the view out the windows towards the bridge, there is a video doc told from the perspective of Dutch, English, and German participants. I was so enthralled I forgot my backpack and had to go back the next day to get it.
Mark P — Google review
Great location near the John Frost Bridge, free entry during our visit though donations welcome. Staff were very helpful & fluent in a number of languages. Has a few items & tales from Operation Market Garden along with a rolling narrative downstairs, which explains the battles in and around Arnhem/Oosterbeek. If anything it's a bit small so doesn't take many visitors for it to feel a little claustrophobic.
Jim K — Google review
Tells you the story of the Battle at Arnhem Bridge briefly in 3D, on screens narrated by a British, Dutch and a German person. Downstairs there is a short film that shows the positions of the different forces throughout the battle. There is a lift for Disabled people. Also a small gift/book shop with good views of Arnhem Bridge. Drinks are available. The Museum is run by Volunteers and is free to look round, but donations can be put in the Collection Box inside.

This is the actual bridge but the actual museum is further away, situated in the allies main base during the war. However the little one at the bridge is very good for a visit.

This is basically a small museum acting as an outpost to the main Airborne Museum at Hartenstein. Its free to enter and they have a short audio visual display downstairs re Market Garden. If you are visiting the physical John Frost bridge then it's worth popping in to visit.

On Friday 10th of October 2025 we were unable to enter from the West Riverside as it was blocked for repaving. We walked around the long block and came in from the north - free museum - First watched their movie in the basement. It’s about four minutes describing the Allied para troopers attack which may have led to the eighth months of hunger winter for Netherlands - and then read the descriptions on the ground floor. The guy or female are helpful to explain anything and a good view of the reason for the battle the only bridge that could carry heavy equipment across the Ryan the Arnhem bridge right there.
Ultimobile — Google review
A small but very important satellite museum right at the actual bridge. The volunteers running it are very helpful. As you walk in, they describe the scene at the bridge in 1944 for you to have context. One can sit next to the river and quietly absorb the true impact of what 10 000 men must have endured. All the bravest of men.

Nestled in the vibrant city of Arnhem, the Airborne Museum Hartenstein stands as a poignant tribute to World War II's Battle of Arnhem. Set within the historic Hartenstein Villa, this museum immerses visitors in the gripping narrative of Operation Market Garden. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, featuring an array of artifacts and personal stories that bring history to life. One highlight is the Airborne Experience—a captivating interactive exhibition that transports you into the heart of battle through dramatic recreations and multimedia presentations.
Absolutely worth visiting if you are in the area. It's a really good museum and the diorama display in the basement is really well done. Definitely get the audio headset. The grounds are also very nice. The Airborne Cemetery is also a very moving place and it is only a very short drive away.

A fantastic museum. Loved the Dakota experience! Even saw an AFPU photographer manakin which was great to see as my journey to Arnhem was to Jump into Renkum as an AFPU photographer myself. I look forward to returning for the 82nd anniversary and will visit again. See photos of Manakin and myself in AFPU uniform. Go easy on the dummy jokes! 👀

We visited the Airborne Museum on Saturday and had a great experience! There weren’t many people, so there were no queues and we could take our time exploring. The museum is very well organized and informative, telling the story of Operation Market Garden and the Battle of Arnhem in an engaging way. Inside, there are authentic artifacts, uniforms, weapons, personal stories, and photographs that give a real sense of what happened during the battle. One of the highlights is the immersive light and sound show, which recreates the experience of the fighting, it’s really well done and helps you imagine what the soldiers went through. After exploring the exhibits, we went outside to the small café, which serves food and drinks.. perfect for a short break. There’s also a tank outside, great for taking pictures. Overall, a very interesting and moving museum that’s well worth a visit if you’re interested in WWII history.
Duangrat W — Google review
This is a fantastic museum and great place to go for military buffs or people interested learning more about history. The audio tour by Anthony Beaver is excellent and works very well with the exhibits, it really brings the place alive. A really interesting mix of technical and strategic issues faced with the Operation, and some fascinating personal account from soldiers (on both sides) and civilians. A brilliant immersive video upstairs gives a great overview of market garden, too. The immersive experience in the lower basement is fantastic and is an emotional rollercoaster. I spent about 3 hours here, but you could definitely stay all day if you did every exhibit on the audio tour.

An excellent museum telling the story about operation Market Garden and "A Bridge Too Far". The Arnhem experience in the basement floor is very good and the audio guide works well.

Excellent museum that tells the story of Arnhem. So much to see and experience, especially as the building was used as the Headquarters during the Battle. Surrounded by beautiful grounds and monuments commemorating battle. Very good shop and cafe outside.

I visited the Airborne museum at Hartenstein for the first time in Sep 2025, during a motorcycle trip from the UK. I booked in advance and the staff were helpful in changing my visit day by email. The entrance to the museum itself is accessed from the "Klein Hartenstein" restaurant so if you go into the car park of that premises which is only accessible from the main road and it is a short walk less than 200 metres to the museum. Although the building itself is relatively small there is plenty to see on the inside, with a clearly signed layout to follow and see the museum. The Airborne simulation which showed a glider borne landing which starts in a plane carriage and leads onto various simulations of battle scenes from Arnhem with lighting and sound is well worth a look. Unfortunately this one was a flying visit, I'll be back.

The Airborne War Cemetery is located a 20-minute walk away from Hartenstein and houses the graves of almost 2000 soldiers and airmen who fought in the Battle. It marks the frontline between Allied Forces and Germans during WWII.
Visited on an early Sunday summer morning (11.08.24). Such a beautiful cemetery, very peaceful and immaculately looked after. Only the sounds of the birds to be heard. The summer flowers were also beautiful and a wonderful contrast against the white headstones. The shadows cast by the stones were particularly emotional to see for me for some reason. Certainly recommend stopping by if you happen to be in the area. In the municipal cemetery opposite there are also 9 Commonwealth War Graves. Lest we forget 🕯

A very impressing cemetery to visit, and to see how many soldiers are killed in action for our liberation
Hubert V — Google review
This tranquil British Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery contains the remains of 1,684 British & Commonwealth servicemen , 79 Polish servicemen and three Dutch who fell during The Battle of Arnhem in September 1944. I've never experienced such peace before, the only sound being birdsong. It was quite remarkable and stopped me in my footsteps. The cemetery is immaculately maintained. The Commonwealth servicemens' gravestones bear regimental badges, names, personal details and a family chosen inscription at the base. They are very moving. I was amazed by how many visitors of all ages there were here, even midweek. Each person seemed wrapped up in their own thoughts as they surveyed the headstones. A visitor book can be found behind the small metal door with a cross upon it, in the entrance building beside the gates. This book bears testimony to the people from all over the world who come to pay their respects here. Sadly, 243 burials remain unidentified. The Netherlands Army has a specialist body recovery and identification team who still try to put a name to all these poor individuals in order to allow closure for the fallen and their families. They deserve enormous credit that they still persist in their endeavour 80 years after the battle. In my opinion. this place of rememberance should be visited by as many people as possible. so that we never forget that they gave their today for our tomorrow. "Lest We Forget."

I have come to this war cemetery since the age of 11, my Grandfather Sgt Austin Francis is buried here with many other brave men who fought and fell for our Freedom. It is a place of peace and allows me to reflect on what it cost to allow our todays. The commonwealth war graves commission keep this cemetery immaculate, not a headstone out of line or unreadable. The groundskeepers are a credit to keeping the place looking so well and show the respect our men resting deserve. If ever you find yourself near to this memorial cemetery and your own head space is struggling with the world today then grab yourself a coffee and come and sit here, it will help you think clearly and allow you to untangle your thoughts with the tranquil sounds of just birds signing between the wind in the trees.

As with all Commonwealth War Graves Cemeteries, this merits 5 stars. Well kept beautiful, peaceful place. This place is special. Not just to the Commonwealth and Polish Airborne forces, but to the hundreds of other allied servicemen who lay here. It's also special, when you see the respect that the local Dutch people hold for our fallen. The annual flower laying by Dutch school children is a special thing to see. Flowers at every grave laid by a local schoolchild. It's amazing to see that the Dutch have not forgotten. Truly humbling. Thank you Arnhem, Driel, Nijmegen, Groesbeek, thank you Netherlands.

If you're looking at the history of operation Market Garden then you need to visit this war cemetery. This brings all the information in the museums together. At the end of it all it's about the young lives from around the globe and from different beliefs that were lost. I war there are no winners, just losers.

Castle Doorwerth, located approximately 15km west of Arnhem, is a restored medieval castle with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Surrounded by picturesque grounds and a moat, the castle offers scenic views and trails through the adjacent forest. It played a role in historical events such as the Battle of Arnhem, making it an intriguing destination for history enthusiasts. The castle also houses exhibits that showcase its fascinating past.

I love this castle. Even thought it's probably not the most beautiful castle in the region but it has it's vibe and it's very educational. I would love to come back when my son is older so he could enjoy it more. I would recommend to visit especially if you have a museum card. P.S. There is a very beautiful forest near by with very nice tracking possibilities.

This is a charming spot to visit! We enjoyed a lovely picnic outdoors, soaking up the summer weather. There's also a museum to explore, and the surrounding area is one of the greenest in the Netherlands. Plus, it's pet-friendly, which is a great bonus!

Located approx 20 min by car west of Arnhem and on the bank of the river Rhine, Doorwerth Castle is worth a visit. Ample free car parking only about 5 minutes walk from the castles entrance. The castles rich history covers more than 700 years. Once inside the castle, the route is well marked and easy to follow. The rooms are well laid out, covering a wealth of information, covering military, social history, and nature, and make sure you visit the art display. Not suitable for wheelchair and people with walking disabilities as you have to navigate the route up and down many narrow and uneven stone stairs. The small cafe serves some very tasty cakes. If you intend to have a meal, make sure you acquire a menu while queuing as you will find no list of food at the counter. If you have time, make sure you take the short detour to the river Rhine.

A very nice experience with the surrounding walk paths and the castle tour. The history is of course the most interesting part and how the castle has been part of history. You can get a laminated guide “book” in English, which was immensely helpful. The “privy” back in the day was not very private, but I guess very convenient to have it in the living room. Take a detour and check it out and have a nice walk.

The drinks and the building itself are fine, but the parking was horrible. It is all on the grass. It had rained during the event, so it was one big mud pool and very difficult to get your car out. But the event itself was lovely! Smaller than what I'm used to, so view-wise, great.

A location is nice even for big concerts. The events are well organized. I've never left a place that fast and good organized like in Arnhem. Shuttlebusses and the people where exactly where they were needed at the right time.

Mostly it was a good experience, I came by bike and had no problem with parking it. The ventilation system was working well, it was packed, but still felt the air moving. The problems are with the local payment system which is pointless, you have to get another card to pay with, thankfully the prices are still in euros. Good luck getting a drink or going to the toilet right before the main show or after it.

Went for linkin park 2 days ago. I don't understand why they just don't do it at Ziggo Dome. Gelredome has bad acoustics, they are not made for concerts imo. Not only that, they are not prepared for crowd control. Which wouldn't have happened in Ziggo dome. I've waited for the bus to arnhem central for 30-45 mins because the "crowd management" people did not make a line for the bus queue. Overall, I wouldnt go here anymore. It's such a waste of money to go to a concert where the sound system is poor quality. This is the first time I went to a concert but didn't buy any drinks because of the long insane queue and stupid gelredome wallet 😒 I would not recommend going here for concerts. This is my view on section 121, row 10, seat 73
Emilia L — Google review
We went to a concert and decided to go on time to enjoy the support act. The time we went earlier was spent on: standing in line in front of the entrance parking lot, in line to buy a stupid Gelredome wallet, in line to enter the venue, in line to pee (not enough toilets for woman), in line to get some overpriced food and beer. Not too mention the time it took to get out of the venue and the time to get out of the parking garage (1,5 hours). Not an enjoyable experience at all. Luckily the band was awesome
Tineke K — Google review
It's a great venue for concerts. The temperature got a bit too hot though. Entering the venue, getting food and drink, and going to the toilet is a very smooth process. However, leaving the venue is still pretty frustrating. Expect to wait at least 30 minutes.

Koninklijk Tehuis voor Oud-militairen en Museum Bronbeek is a former royal palace turned museum located in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The museum focuses on Dutch East Indies colonial history and features exhibits such as cannons, soldiers' uniforms, weaponry, and military equipment. Additionally, it serves as a home for elderly soldiers and commemorates a special time period of Indian history. The stunning building is surrounded by parkland and offers an amazing location for activities like mountain biking.
Bronbeek Museum is located in a former royal palace built in the early 19th century. In 1845, King William III expanded the palace and donated it to the Dutch state in 1859. The museum was opened to the public in 1966. It has a permanent exhibition on the history of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL), which was the Dutch colonial army in Indonesia. The artifact storage is very neat and well-documented. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are also temporary exhibitions. The route to the Bronbeek Museum can be reached by train from Arnhem Central Station to Arnhem Presikhaaf Station. From Arnhem Presikhaaf Station, you can walk to the Bronbeek Museum. Besides the train, you can also take bus number 103 from Arnhem Central Station to the Bronbeek Museum.

Great museum of the Dutch colonial history. As an Indonesian, it is interesting to see our shared history through the Dutch's perspective. Stories in the museum are delivered in a concise, informative way year-by-year. I highly recommend this place, especially to fellow Indonesians! Ticket prices are also considered not expensive (especially if you have a museum kaart ;) ). After you explore the museum, consider to explore the surrounding park to see some commemoration monuments.
Tombayu H — Google review
Very good museum to get to know a bit more of Dutch history. Very afordable prices for the Dutch average. Very friendly personnel. I totally recomend it.
Leorelis V — Google review
Interesting Museum run by the Dutch Ministry of Defence covering their colonial history, mainly focusing on Indonesia. Presents a balanced view of history and does not attempt to justify or make an apology for colonialism. Although similarly it does not take extensive measures to frame dutch actions as wholely bad which is also understandable. Of note, they do state the high cost in human lives but leave the moral implications up to the visitors to decide which is an adequate step. Overall a very interesting experience even if you have prior knowledge on the history since the narrative presented is different but not insulting. Exhibits within the museum have English captions so dont be put off by the lack of English in the outdoors areas. Although getting the captions for them in English is a bit clunky since you'll need to carry around a information book which are on stands around the museum.

Nice little pub with friendly staff. They have very good heaters outside which makes it perfect to sit outside even on a cold day. On my second visit we sat inside and had a few drinks and had the sharing platter which was the perfect amount of snack food for 3 people! The gluhwein was nice, quite strong and came with a chocolate biscuit. The service wasn’t amazing but decent for a pub. There are QR codes on the table which you can scan to get the menu online where you can then change the language or even order online and get everything delivered to your table. The toilets were clean.

Food and Atmosphere was fine. We had 2 dishes that we couldn’t finish and asked to pack them up for take away. But the server threw it away. The Kröller-Müller Museum, established in 1938, is a renowned art museum housing an exceptional private collection of late-19th-century and early-20th-century paintings. It is considered the third most important art museum in the Netherlands, featuring a notable Vincent Van Gogh collection with around 90 paintings and 180 drawings on display.
We arrived a bit late, but still managed to have a quick look at the precious collection. Although the exhibition space may not be as refined and diverse in design as the Van Gogh Museum, the collection itself is highly impressive and well worth seeing. The layout is clear and easy to follow. Outside, the vast sculpture park offers a perfect harmony between art and nature.
CY Z — Google review
The museum has the second largest Van Gogh collection in the world. There are many paintings of him. There is both closed and open air areas where you can spend a whole afternoon. Also nice cafe and restaurants. Recommended.
Murat Ö — Google review
As my friend highly recommended this museum, I decided to visit it from Amsterdam. It wasn’t too difficult to get there. When you arrive at the train station in the city where the museum is located, you can take a connecting bus directly from the station. After getting off at the final stop, just cross the street and wait at the bus stop on the other side. The bus driver mentioned that buses run twice an hour, but from my experience, you might end up waiting for as long as an hour. :) The museum itself was very nice and not too crowded. You can take your time and enjoy Vincent van Gogh’s paintings in a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The food at the restaurant was quite good — I had a hamburger, and it was tasty. Most other visitors seemed to be ordering soup, just for your information. The outdoor garden is also well known. There’s nothing particularly special about it, but it’s a pleasant place for a walk.
Lunar K — Google review
Great experience overall but entry fees to national park is separate to get to the museum which then comes out to be a bit above 26 euros combined. Free bikes to go around the national park. The Kröller Müller museum is nice as well with a vast collection of Van Gogh. Other noticable works for Paul Signac, Monet etc. Although the museum could be a bit more immersive. Overall a great daytrip in Netherlands

I had the chance to visit the most impressive and fascinating museum I’ve ever seen in the Netherlands — the Kröller-Müller Museum. There are incredible artworks of Vincent van Gogh, Picasso and many other painters and amazing sculptures. Sincere thanks to the museum’s management, and to Helene and Anton Kröller-Müller, whose vision and passion made this remarkable place possible. Please make your plan for whole day, not only for museum but also cafe inside and outdoor in the forest.

So much more than a museum. Obviously the main draw to this remote location is its important collection of paintings and sculptures. But the setting is what makes it such an outstanding visit. Deep inside a huge park, you can and you should choose to reach the museum from the entrance by the white bicycles freely available to all. If the weather is nice this short (about 20 minutes) ride gets you in a jolly mood. Power up with the small but tasty menu of desserts and small plates in the restaurant. It took me 5 hours to enjoy the place.
Nikos P — Google review
Nice museum but it's a pity that you have to pay to enter the forest reserve/Park whatsoever. I understand if you had to pay a couple of euros for the care of the place and for the free bikes. But 13,40 is definitely an overkill. Pityy

Located in the old post office on Jansplein, 't Taphuys Arnhem offers a delightful dining experience with great value for money. Let Stay For A Day recommends favorites like the Black Angus carpaccio sandwich, croque Taphuys with chorizo and serrano ham, Pulled Pork burger, and scrambled eggs with avocado, Trappist cheese, and Spanish pepper.
A great place for a massive range of craft beers from multiple different countries. I didn't try the food on my visit but looked nice on others plates. There are 100 self serve beer taps and you can have as much or as little as you like paying my millimetres served. You can buy a card for €2 (like a bank card) and load it with any amount of credit that you like by topping up at the bar. The card is refunded when you don't want it any more (or you can keep it for next visit). There is a small element of quantity over quality but enough quality beers are available to work through, from all styles and strengths. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit and the staff were helpful showing me how it worked.

Beers are lovely, friendly staff. However I thought the food could have been better. Its also unclear whether any of the mains come with sides. When you order ribs you really only get ribs. Would love to opt for a smaller serving size with a small side. Nothing big but maybe like half the ribs with a small salad would be a great addition.

Today, the wine options at the restaurant I visited were quite diverse and truly exquisite in taste. The chicken dish was also delicious as I expected, and the service speed was quite satisfactory. It was a bit surprising that cash payments were not accepted, but having the option to pay by card certainly expedited things. Overall, I was very pleased with the service provided at the restaurant, and I particularly enjoyed my wine experience. I highly recommend everyone to visit this restaurant.

Really loved this place. Paying for a refillable tapcard with some credit on it. Okay, this was an utterly sad experience. The (€10!) sandwiches we had for brunch were scantily spread and sparsely seasoned. What on the menu was advertised to be a truly lovely treat, tasted like what I imagine to be prison food at most. The (€5!) glass of 'fresh' Orange juice tasted like bottled juice from a slightly more fancy brand. The service was meager, it took very long to have our order taken and our sad sandwiches to be delivered, and afterwards to get the opportunity to pay and get out of there a.s.a.p. This wannabe fancy establishment is an imposter in the restaurant business. I suggest they stick to serving fancy cocktails at night. Kudo's on the Nice plates and the Nice mayonaise, and the Nice crunchy fries!

Sabelspoort, also known as Sabre Gate, is a beautiful historic gate in the city of Arnhem. It stands as one of the few remaining historical landmarks in the area, having been restored after being heavily damaged during World War II. Despite its historical significance and medieval charm, it is unfortunately obstructed by a poorly welded circle of scrap metal in front of it.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Arnhem, Rozet stands as a cultural beacon where history, language, and creativity converge. This multifaceted venue is not just a library filled with an impressive collection of art books; it also offers ballet lessons and hosts a dynamic cultural heritage center featuring rotating exhibitions. While the exhibition space may be modest, it's always worth a visit when exploring the city. Locals regard Rozet as Arnhem's premier cultural hotspot.
We love going to this library with my wife and son. Especially my five year old son loves it here. The book and game section reserved for children is very good. He also has a lot of fun on the slide inside. With the free children's membership card, you can borrow many books for up to four weeks.

well i'm sitting here right now and i must say that the library is really big and it has a lot of books. I'ts definetly not the best place for studying, when i was just studying for my exams the security sirens went off atleast 5 times. Childeren are running everywhere and adults are literally screaming. So it's definitely not a great place to study in. But there are a lot of places wheerw you can sit or study. But it's mostly busy so i would recommend coming on work days or early in the morining on satutdays. So overal if you are just coming here to get books than its okay. Would definitely not reccomend comming here if you need some time working in silence.

I don't truly get it, I thought library is supposed to be kept quite... I love the library itself. The facilities it offers, the way it looks, the cleanliness, the fact that when you reserve a working/study spot you also can get a complimentary coffee or tea and at the same time, the reservation fee is also quite cheap (€2,50). But all these seem to be not worth it, because the library is quite noisy and most of the times, it is when kids are there -- even when their parents are with them. The library staff do not even bother to warn or educate them that this is a library, nor the parents! Sometimes, even the parents yell to their kids from afar as if it is normal to do so in a [library]. Same goes to some group of students who are in the study/work area. They chat and laugh loudly and again, as I experienced it, the library staff do not give them a warning. Not to forget, adults who speak loudly in a call... ** I do hope the staff will be stricter about this, because then this library would be a more comfortable place to study or work at :)

We spent a lot of time here whilst in Arnhem. We went for lunch hoping for an Irish breakfast. They don't serve any English/ Irish food. As you enter this modern yet cozy restaurant, your senses are immediately awakened by an array of colorful decor and enticing aromas. We joined the Mexican Table tonight (first Wednesday of the month) and boy was everything DELICIOUS. Authentic Mexican food prepared by chefs Erika & Patrick: WOW! Cocktails were lovely, so were our dinner companions. Staff attentive and enthusiastic, we had a great evening. Thanks!

Really nice food. I had the nachos with chicken and the Mexicandog. The nachos were 8 euros, a bit expensive for the small portion I got. But it was nice. The bread of the Mexicandog was nice crunchy and the sausage was a bit spicy so that was nice. I had a sangria as a drink, I can definitely recommend the sangria. There were oranges in it. Very nice place! Especially nice when you want to sit outside, there are nice chairs.

Delicious food! Beautiful presentation. Excellent margaritas (but buy the medium one with the little pitcher; one glass is not enough). Friendly, attentive wait staff. Service exceeded my expectations. But be aware that you are in the Netherlands, not a traditional Mexican place. My steak fajitas were fantastic, but not authentic at all. I was seated and waiting for 25 minutes for the entree waiting for chicken fajitas, before they told me they were out of chicken. Really? They didn't know they were out of chicken and did not start cooking my food until I had already been there almost a half hour???! This is the only reason they didn't get a five star review.

Hi,I hope the message finds you well. Hi Owner of the club or so called manager. We came down to have fun in your club also not from here and your security is so rude talking to customer anyhow all because he needed a tip. He keep saying it’s full for guys to come in and letting ladies and guys tipping them in. That’s so rude and disrespectful we choose to be there not him calling us and we deserve enough respect. This shouldn’t be allowed in a club to have fun. Many thanks.

WOMEN BE ADVISED THIS PLACE IS SCETCHY! I'm sure this can be a really fun place to have some drinks and dance but right more there are some serious safety issues. I was told I could come in alone as a woman or wait in the line with the men to enter at the same time as them. Obviously I opted to enter with my group rather than alone. During the wait in the line we watched countless groups of women allowed to skip the line and what appeared to be bribery or dealing happing between the security guards and groups of men to get entry into the venue. The overall experience at the entrance was more than enough to not want to enter. This venue does not feel safe for women.

Visitors may witness locals effortlessly navigating narrow streets on roller skates with household items strapped to their backs. Embrace the whimsical atmosphere and pack lightly as you immerse yourself in this delightful tradition in Arnhem.

Pretty popular among the 18-25 year old alternative crowd. Loud music, good for dancing, less so for talking. Crowded on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, though people generally only start coming in after eleven P.M.
Jaap Z — Google review
I really recommended coming here on wednesday. Lots of people, great vibe and stronger drinks are quite cheap. Let's not even begin about the type of music genres. If you can think of it the probably play it.
Duncan B — Google review
Very nice bar. I like it. Have a smoking room. You can enjoy there with some games with a friend. And after midnight it's turns to discko.
Denitsa A — Google review
Good for vodka woensdag (vodka is half price on Wednesdays) but the average age here is 19.

Great place to be on Wednesday, lots of atmosphere and cheap shots. Music is usualy pretty good

When you step into Korenstraat, you'll be greeted by the lively Mick OConnells Irish Pub. The street is lined with various clubs like Aspen Valley and Loft, as well as hidden gems like the popular Manhattan. The nightlife in Aspen Valley Arnhem is conveniently concentrated in one area, making it effortless to navigate and explore all that it has to offer.
When me and my friends and we are international students thought to go to this nightclub We were assaulted by these human monsters and they are the security secretaries and everything is bad in this bar. I am shocked by this treatment in the Netherlands I would not advise anyone in gold to go there.
Frp M — Google review
I am from Ukraine. I can say that I didnt expect to see such rudeness from security in the Netherlands. I thought such terrible service could only exist in Eastern Europe! The security guards are roosters who have no sense of respect for visitors. definitely i will choose next time more friendly club or bar.
Andrej M — Google review
Ladies and gentlemen, this place has the worst security guards ever! Especially the bold guy who sounds like from Eastern Europe, I asked him nicely if he could do the entrance stamp in the right hand and for him that was enough reason to not to let me in. Just because I asked that! I’m sure the owner does not care about the reputation of his place.
Abdulrahman A — Google review
Security guards are very rude! We had been at Aspen Valley more than half hour with a multinational group! Security guards came where we were dancing and insisted that we need to leave our bags, whereas many other people had their bags on too...they stand next to us and harassed us until we left the place! Horrible experience! I do not recommend Aspen Valley to anyone...at such a beautiful city ,what a shame...
Buket E — Google review
Not the best choice in Arnhem. Had an ok night over here, not the best music and a very young and ordi crowd with lots underaged people. Staff was very unfriendly and unprofessional, especially the girls in the cloakroom who did not manage to find back my jacket at the end of the night. Would recommend going somewhere else, especially for students who like a more classy atmosphere!
Eppe Z — Google review
Really bad place! The guards are extremely aggressive and rude to customers. I got out the bar to get my friend and after that tried to enter back because my stuff and other friends were still inside, the guards stoped us and told us that they won't let us in, I explained that all my stuff are inside and gave them my ID card to show them my age, but they took my card and pushed me. They didn't want to give me back my ID card. I tried asking them why they took my card but they grabbed me and bruised my arm. We had to go to the police so I can get my ID card and my stuff from the bar. I highly recommend not visiting that place... Except you're not looking for rude staff and guards to ruin your night!

Aspen is the worst place anyone can visit in Arnhem, Netherlands. People working in this restaurant only appreciate dutch crowd and they harass or hurt the people who are not dutch. They usually push out the people who are of a different nationalities and. It is usuall for such Hulligans to get out and hide beneath the shade of the dutch police. It is shamefulll to live in a city where police support the people who suppress and disobey the dutch regulations. I would not suggest this pub to any person as they usually punch you or push you as if they have the right to do anything with the customers

If you're looking for a lively and vibrant spot in Arnhem to enjoy some nightlife, the square known as Korenmarkt is the place to be. This bustling area offers a variety of small bars, clubs, and cafes where you can unwind and have a great time. It's also home to Dollars, a popular venue that hosts performances by bands. Whether you're in the mood for grabbing a bite or sipping on drinks, Korenmarkt has plenty of options for you.
THE place in Arnhem for a bite or a drink. Many cafe's and restaurants in one place.

(Translated by Google) I think the "old" Korenmarkt, with its raised terraces, was much more charming. I only go to the Korenmarkt when there's something to celebrate, like on September 3, 2025. Vitesse got its professional license back, and that was cause for a fantastic party.

Plaza Arnhem is a delightful spot that many locals frequent, especially after enjoying a stroll through the nearby Sonsbeek Park. This vibrant venue boasts an inviting atmosphere and often features great music, making it a popular choice for those looking to unwind. With its positive vibe and smooth transitions in tunes, Plaza Arnhem is definitely worth a visit for anyone seeking a lively experience in the heart of the city.
Nice music the only club with good transitions. The reviews r before COVID so is irrelevant anymore. Good vibe worth more customers

(Translated by Google) I wanted to come here with my group of friends to have a nice evening. However, this was quickly resolved because the security guard refused entry to one of our group because he was wearing sweatpants. Then someone else in our group stood up for him by saying that this security guard was also wearing pants that looked like sweatpants and was subsequently refused. In all the times I've gone out I've seen people wearing sweatpants everywhere and they've never been turned away. When I tried to ask for reasons, I was waved away and they moved on to the next customers. Scandalous actions by this security guard and without proper substantiation.

The next time I was turned away with a friend because only regular customers were allowed in. (Original) Racistische club. Eerst werden we niet binnen gelaten omdat we met een groep (4 jongens en 2 meisjes) waren. Zelfs een Nederlandse klant heeft toen geroepen dat jullie racisten zijn. (Translated by Google) Once inside, hang up your coat, it has now been almost an hour and along the way you have been groped about 3 times by North Africans, the staff makes false promises, is very short, not at all stress-resistant, unprofessional and very aggressive (wardrobe lady). The big fat man at security also kept shouting around that he was going to hit random people because he wanted to sleep. A special evening. Never again!

(Translated by Google) It's incredible that they wouldn't let me in with the excuse that I'm over 25 years old. Whose head does it fit in? Local people have told me that the music is bad and the drinks are bad and expensive. I don't recommend it at all. A relief that they didn't let me pass.
