Perched at an elevation of 1834m, The Eagle's Nest was originally built as a mountain retreat for Hitler and has since been repurposed into a restaurant with stunning panoramic views. Accessible only by a special shuttle bus from the Kehlsteinhaus bus station, this historic site boasts a rich World War II history and was once used by top officials of the Third Reich regime.
Awesome place to see the views of the mountain range and the village below. Only has a little bit of the history to read to say how iconic it is. Overall Great place to visit, definitely a must see if not for the view alone.
Stephen D — Google review
Expensive but worth the trip! The bus is a little confusing, but you have to take the city (838) bus to the Dokumentation station and then buy a tour bus pass to get to the top. 838 drops you off and picks you up from the same area. Convenient! Costs around 11.50Euro for round trip from the main station to the tour station. Keep your ticket for the return. Can also just buy a one-way ticket. We went middle of October. Snow was VERY slippery (and wet) so bring good shoes or walking poles. Was cold but not super cold. Thumbs up if this review helped you! :)
Colton W — Google review
We were surrounded by clouds going up the mountain, but once we went up the elevator, it was clear skies and beautiful. The house is a restaurant which i did not go to. You can climb a little bit of the mountain and take breathtaking pictures.
Debbie D — Google review
Great experience and amazing views!!! If you go when there is snow, expect no treatment on paths could be very treacherous. Would do it again for sure!!! Restaurant was very good also, would eat there again. You need to park then take a bus up to elevator.
Jim S — Google review
A must to go ,the special built buses will take you up the narrow path and the scene from the bus on the way up is something one must experience for themselves. Everyone will be guided into a tunnel where a lift will take you all the way up to the Nest. U will be able to have some snacks at the coffee house when u reach the top.
DFW N — Google review
Amazing….it was even better than I imagined. There’s a restaurant there that also doesn’t gouge you on prices. The trip up on the bus is an event in itself, followed by the short walk up along the original entrance tunnel and into the same original gold coloured lift. Incidentally the lift holds over 30 people! Then when you get out you are above the clouds and it’s epic. If you are near there, I would highly recommend it
Ritrka — Google review
This is a very cool place to visit. It’s great that such a historical place has remained largely unchanged since construction. Even if you’re not interested in World War II history, the site offers fantastic views assuming the weather is cooperative. We had a nice lunch in the restaurant and I hope to visit again with clearer weather.
Shawn S — Google review
A very good experience. The bus trip up and down is excellent, it makes you appreciate the work involved to create the road in such a short time period. The views from the top are just phenomenal.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Salt Mine Berchtesgaden offers a family-friendly tour of a 1500s salt mine, featuring miners' slides, a salt lake, and an illuminated grotto. Once owned by Berchtesgaden's princely rulers, the mine now welcomes visitors to experience its rich history. The hour-long tour includes a ride on a miniature train deep into the mountain, where an enormous chamber reveals the mining process.
Good activity to do with kids and you can also explore the salt mine also. Perfect vacation here. However, taking a photo inside is not allowed but it not a problem😊 Tips: No need to wait if you buy a ticket in advance in order to choose the entry time before enter.
Ppemi B — Google review
The tour starts with a traditional railway into the mountain. Inside the mountain you can see and learn some interesting about the salt mining. The guided tour includes two times very cool slides from one to another level and a short crossing of an underground lake by boat. Recommend to buy you tickets online. Parking means extra costs unfortunately.
Öht — Google review
The tour of the salt mine was very well organized. Unfortunately, taking photos and videos is not allowed. We went down some sections using slides, and there was also a boat ride on an underground salt lake, accompanied by beautiful light shows and music. It was a very touching experience for me. I highly recommend this program to anyone visiting the area.😊
Marta A — Google review
What a great experience to make this tour in the salt mine. There are timeslot entries and once you are inside you get an overall to put on. Then you board a small train that brings you inside the mine. When you get off you take two wooden slides down to the level where the guided tour starts. That slide was big fun for most of the visitors. With the tour you make a long walk with regular stops at interesting locations where you get information from the guide or via the audio guide in your own language. There is even a small boat ride over a salt lake with a light show when you are crossing. At the end you go up again with a lift, hop on the train and back to the entrance. The salt in the mine was formed over 200 million years ago, during the Triassic period, when a shallow sea as part of the Thetys ocean evaporated and left behind thick layers of concentrated salt. Over millions of years this salt was covered with rocks and with the forming of the Alps moulded and squeezed between rock layers With the tour you can see those layers in the walls and you can taste the salt. The salt is now extracted using wet mining where large quantities of water are pumped in the layers via drill holes. The concentrated salt solution (brine) is then pumped to a processing plant to be turned into salt for all purposes. In the shop you can buy this Alpine salt and more.
Seimen B — Google review
We didnt go in. It is a tourist trap. Tickets are expensive 25€ and ~32€ with some combined tickets, 50minutes guided trip. Its beyond me why there has to be amusement parks in saltmines. Torda salt mine was enough, also for a fragment of this price, and you could stay there as long as you wanted. Which is great for lungtherapy. Western countries are so kapitalistic they would even make air as a privilege... Basic human necessities like peeing is already an expensive privilege in most part of germany. No I dont have coins, No I dont want to buy the cupon down in the overpriced shop, tankstation or whatever. It is rare to find free toilet in germany. Their store: (Their tablesalt is slightly cheaper in the nearby stores.) +They have iodized salt with selene in the merch store. - They have iodized salt with extra fluoride. I remember fluoride was the main experimental material in the soviet era, they poisoned the water source of an entire village, it turned out it is causing people to become paranoid and an intense drop in their IQ. For pregnant women it is highly recommended to avoid it. It also causes tyroid problems and the dissolvement of calcium from the bones into the bloodstream. Im strongly against this. It is just a scam that is good for your teeth. It is against your brain. Its not something advised to put in your food, but it is already in the tapwater... Which may explain the behaviour of society nowadays. The fact they still successfully mistyped my name in their answer also just convinces me we did the right decision not going in... Just because the government, the authority, the american FDA approved something as food and somebody got bribed to bend over the lobbying, it wont make things healthy or beneficial for the people or their health. Tobacco, sugar lobby, hidrogenized ultraprocessed plant oils, fluoride..etc.
Bea K — Google review
Interesting history of Salt mining combined with family fun (cart, slides, boating) in 1 hr. You can park the car for 4 euro on the parking on the other side of the river and road. Beware when weather is bad you need an umbrella to get to the entrance
P R — Google review
Really good enjoyed it, audio guides for us English people, was good fun really enjoyed it, the slides were nuts lol 😆 really hoped to have picked up a visitor guide book showing the caves and things as photos weren't allowed and I don't recommend even trying it. But they certainly like their salt.

A salt mine located in the middle of a beautiful mountain landscape. The water in the river is crystal blue. The tour in the Salt mine is impressive/fun for old and young. You're driving 600 meters with a little Train inside the mountain.

The Rossfeld Panorama Strasse is a picturesque mountain road that spans 15.4 kilometers along the high alpine terrain, offering breathtaking views of the Berchtesgaden Alps, Dachstein Massif, and Salzkammergut. It is the highest panoramic road in Germany, reaching an altitude of 1,600 meters with winding hairpin turns.
A wonderful winding road leads both up and down through the clouds. 😍 Absolutely stunning! The road can be reached by bike, car, or bus. However, there is an entrance fee for this section, depending on the mode of transport. For a car it was €9.50.
Marta A — Google review
The view from the top is amazing! There's a small cafe and restroom at the top of the pass. Around €9.5 entry fee for the pass!
Vivek P — Google review
Driving along the Rossfeld Panorama Street was absolutely unforgettable! The road is smooth and well-maintained, offering breathtaking views of the Alps at every turn. It’s a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, with plenty of photo spots to capture the stunning landscapes. Whether you go in summer or winter, the scenery is magical and worth every moment. Truly a must-see experience for nature lovers and road trip fans!
Johnny S — Google review
Magnificent view. In my opinion might be better than Eagles Nest. Eagles Nest is probably too high with too much clouds blocking the view. Took the public bus up instead of hiring a car. Interval is 2 to 3 hours but we managed to spend the time just walking around viewpoints. Along the way uphill, able to see the mountainous view gradually. Bus ride on 19 Oct 2025 costs only €2 to and fro trip. Well worth the $.
Kengcho C — Google review
Wonderful drive, it's really a toll road that brings you up the mountain and down again in a loop. The views from the road are absolutely gorgeous! Head up early to watch the sunrise, shoot timelapse photos of the clouds etc. It's also the location for many scenes from The Sound of Music.
Lone A — Google review
We stumbled across this on the way back to Salzburg from Eagles Nest. A must do if you have a car. Great drive and fantastic views. Opening scenes of the Sound of Music filmed up here.
G G — Google review
The views from here are the best in all of Germany. An amazing and unforgettable experience, and because of the small entry fee, there wasn't much traffic
Nika K — Google review
It's a beautiful drive for a small fee with a couple of photogenic stops, a small café, and can be comfortably combined in a day with a trip to the Eagle's Nest. The loop can be done in an hour or a bit longer. Most seem to drive clockwise, as we did. It's not the Alps' most stunning drive but very pretty.

The area features five downhill skiing areas, including Obersalzberg, Gotschen, Hochschwarzeck, Rossfeld, and Jenner. Visitors can also enjoy ski touring in the Alps. The Jenner peak at 1874 meters offers unparalleled views of the Watzmann and Konigssee.
We drove with Jennebahn during the promotion. It was the longest day and shortest night. So we got back in the valley during night. It was really special. Stuff was friendly and professional. Cabins clean.

Scenic lake view from top, you need to hike a bit for it but it’s not that long. Has two stops I’d suggest you go to second one and to the top.
Shiza S — Google review
The view is simply incredible, but in my opinion, the price is too high. We paid 82€ with a visitor card discount.
Kristina S — Google review
The cable car ride up the mountain was really beautiful. You've got views of the Bavarian Alps all around, and you pass over cows grazing on the mountainside with their bells ringing to create an almost idyllic scene. It did cost us nearly $100 for just two people to ride the cable car up and down the mountain, so that was a little steep (no pun intended). Once we got to the top, there are lots of trails to hike. We took the one where you can best overlook Lake Konigsee. Spectacular views! Really beautiful!!
Kelly L — Google review
Decent cable car. I find it a bit pricy to pay 50e to go to the peak and back. But the views are stunning
AllPhoto P — Google review
The views from the top are beautiful, but we’ve been to other funiculars where the views can be even more breathtaking. It’s not worth to buy the ticket online, there was almost no waiting queue for the ticket office when we went today (13th August, around 11h00?) and that way they can take your Guest Card for a small discount. It’s expensive nonetheless, but we wanted to have this experience. However, you will not see the lake from above if you stay at the panoramic platform, even on the very top. You have to hike the trail, with uneven stones and no protection (you can easily fall off the trail… and really hurt yourself!), and it can be a workout especially if it is hot. So, not recommended for people with limited mobility. I believe this should be more clear for those buying the tickets to go up, as it can be a disappointment if you don’t want or simply can’t hike the trail that will lead you to the panoramic views with the lake. Also, we parked at the same big parking lot you use when you visit lake Königssee, but couldn’t understand if you could actually park near the funicular station or not (even though Google Maps says you can drive up to there, I believe you have to park at the big parking lot and walk to the station as we did).
André M — Google review
Great views. If you want to hike down from the very top, it takes over 4-5 hrs. It is very difficult to walk or hike down on the steep slippery gravel. So, you might need a round trip ticket.
Michael H — Google review
It was the loveliest day to take the cable car up to the top of the mountain. While rather pricey, the views were worth it. I would definitely suggest buying the trip up to the summit about 1800 m. It’s around 42€ per person. But if your accommodation provides you with a guest card, you will get 4€ off typically. the round trip takes approximately 20 minutes each way. We got to see a lot of skiers ⛷️ on the way up and down!

Located north of Berchtesgaden in the stunning Alps, Wallfahrtskirche Maria Gern is a picturesque pilgrimage church that has stood for centuries despite harsh weather. This baroque church was constructed during the Reformation and offers breathtaking views of the Watzmann massif. It's a prime spot for photographers, especially in the morning when the first light hits the mountains. Visitors can also enjoy hiking trails in the area, with one leading to a beautiful gorge. While St.
The most popular and rewarding trail is the one from Maria Gern to Kneifelspitze. • Distance: 7.5 km (round trip) • Duration: 3-4 hours (round trip) • Difficulty: Moderate This trail offers some of the best views of Maria Gern with the Watzmann mountain in the background. As you ascend, you’ll get various perspectives of the church framed by the surrounding Alpine landscape. The trail leads to the summit of Kneifelspitze, a popular viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the entire Berchtesgaden region, including the church below, the Watzmann massif, and even the distant Salzburger Alps. At the top, there’s a small hut (Paulshütte) where you can take a break and enjoy refreshments while taking in the views. You can start the hike directly from the church, making it convenient to explore the church before or after your hike. The path is well-marked and starts with a steady incline through forested areas before opening up to alpine meadows as you approach the summit. The trail is manageable for those with a moderate level of fitness, but the ascent can be challenging in some sections due to the elevation gain.
Y. T — Google review
Absolutely charming little church in a beautiful picturesque village. Absolutely worth going the short distance out of your way to see this beautiful place of worship. Be sure to go inside as it's even more beautiful.
Debbie M — Google review
A very beautiful view there with the Watzman Mountain on the background. From this point there are hiking trails uphills to the Kneifelspitze restaurant with a great panorama view. There’re also some other trails too. On a nice day, it may be tricky to find the parking place.

Divine beauty! Wallfahrtskirche Maria Gern in Germany is a true gem nestled amidst breathtaking Alpine scenery. This pilgrimage church captivates with its picturesque setting and stunning Bavarian architecture. Whether you're seeking spiritual solace or simply admiring its ornate details, Maria Gern offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The interior exudes tranquility, while the surrounding landscape adds to the sense of peace and reverence. A visit to Wallfahrtskirche Maria Gern is an enriching experience that leaves a lasting impression on all who venture here.

Gasthof Neuhaus is a historic restaurant located in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany. It offers traditional Bavarian cuisine and draft beers within a 16th-century building, complete with a charming beer garden for outdoor dining. The menu features authentic German dishes such as pork knuckle, Bavarian duck with orange sauce, red cabbage, and potato dumplings. Vegetarian options like potatoes, pumpkin soup, and knudels are also available.
Had a wonderful time at Gasthof NEUHAUS! It’s great to see the lederhosen tradition still going strong here. The beer was fantastic, and it was even better to enjoy it while looking at the stunning mountains from the terrace. The fries we ordered were crispy and delicious, a perfect snack to go with the drinks. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere of the place is fantastic – cozy, traditional, and welcoming. A perfect spot for a relaxed meal and drink with a beautiful view. Highly recommend it!
Wesley R — Google review
Excellent restaurant, full of traditional options and even more vegetables than most German menus. Pork roast and burger recommended from what we tried, but the home made bacon and caraway sauerkraut is excellent. Was also very excited to see palatchinke on the seasonal dessert menu, an uncommon and excellent dish with very high quality ice cream. Like most restaurants in the Berchtesgaden area, also beautiful scenery to sit outside, though also looked nice and cozy inside.
Erich B — Google review
We stopped by here without planning to have a full meal — just wanted a small snack and some drinks — but the place was so inviting we couldn’t resist ordering some German food. And we’re glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious, and the waiters were incredibly friendly and attentive. The location is perfect — right in the old city with a beautiful mountain view that makes the atmosphere even better. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a proper meal, this is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy.
Ditti K — Google review
Nice ambience! The indoor area is very crowded, but outdoor seating is available. We didn’t have a reservation and still managed to get a table. The food portions are huge 😅. I had read reviews saying the portions are big, but they are even bigger than other Bavarian restaurants in Germany. The dessert cake portions are also very generous and the daily cake (plum cake?) taste very good with cream. Prices are reasonable and the food tastes good. The crispy duck with orange and red cabbage is really tasty. The roasted pork was a little dry, but it comes with sauce so it was okay. We weren’t sure how to enjoy the side potatoes—maybe mixed with something? Septi is very friendly and helpful. She checked on us during the meal, and her smile made us feel very welcome. We wanted to pay with Amex, and she even changed the payment machine so we could—so sweet of her. “Terima Kasih, Septi!”
Monica W — Google review
Authentic Bavarian restaurant with generous portions and delicious food! The pork knuckle was crispy outside and tender inside — perfect with an HB beer. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Outdoor seating is nice, though there might be a few flies when it’s warm, so indoor seats can be a better choice.
Steven C — Google review
The food here is amazing. Had the pork schnitzel and pork knuckle, both were so tasty. Highly recommend getting dessert too, absolutely delicious. Get service as well.
Rebecca F — Google review
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Ne and my wife split the 1/2 pork knuckle and the Bavarian duo (2 pretzels with flavored creek cheeses and butter) and it was SO much food, but both very delicious. The inside is a typical Bavarian interior, which we loved, but opted to sit on the patio despite it being a little chilly. They have furs to sit on and blankets to use if you get too cold. Great view of the mountains from the patio and the service was very attentive and helpful.

Schloss Berchtesgaden, once a medieval monastery and later the summer residence of the Bavarian royal family, is now home to a permanent collection of rare family treasures. The fine Renaissance rooms showcase sacred art, including wood sculptures by renowned late-Gothic artists. Visitors can explore two weaponry rooms displaying hunting tools and rifles from the 19th century, as well as enjoy the beautiful rose garden on the grounds.
Highly recommend to visit such a nice palace! Rich in art, architecture variety and so many nice decorative pieces presented there. The guide schedule is online, foreign languages are on printouts, even better: you have time to discover details while others were just listening to the guide speaker:) Shame, that photos are not permitted inside, so many great things to remember.

Beautiful little castle home to the remaining former Bavarian Royal family. It is situated in the town square of Berchtesgaden. We did really enjoy this beautiful and quiet small town during our tour to this place.
SS H — Google review
Very nice castle with lots of interesting details, but the guided tour moves on way too fast, with guide filling the airspace and instantly proceeding to the next step. This despite of the request to give more time to look around. Because of this hurry a couple of nice experiences were left seriously lacking. There's so much to see inside the castle that it's very annoying if you are forced to just run through. I guess she was just obeying the Orders. A disappointment because of the haste.

The locals were also incredibly friendly and helpful. It's a great place to visit if you want to get away from it all and relax!

Nice and neat southern German town in the beautiful Alpine setting. Dozen od coffee shops, restaurants and stores with local products, semi precious stones (belief in the power od crystals that reaches to pre-christian times is obviously still alive here among some members od local community) and Schnaps (sort of brandy) infused with berries, pine needles od apricot aromas. Some terrific examples of late middle-ages "buerger" architecture as well as picture perfect small town castle placed at the outskirts of town. A bit enigmatic frescoes at the gallery opposite to the castle commemorate soldiers fallen in two twentieth century wars. Town has certain sinister reputation, but instead of trying to decipher it I would rather suggest spending some time on the magnificent Koenigslake some 6-7 km away.

The hiking trail through Almbachklamm was well-maintained and easy to navigate, suitable for both novice hikers and experienced trekkers. The path included a series of wooden bridges and staircases that provided stunning views of the gorge and its many waterfalls. Along the way, informative signs offered insights into the geological history and natural features of the area. Entrance fees is 11€ per person

Short but Stunning Gorge Walk Almbachklamm is a hidden gem and well worth a visit if you're in the Berchtesgaden area. The walk takes about 15–20 minutes one way along a beautiful, well-maintained path that winds through a narrow gorge with a river running below. You walk mostly on bridges and footpaths above the water, with several small waterfalls and crystal-clear pools along the way—absolutely stunning views all around. The path is very organized and safe, suitable for most fitness levels, and it's an easy yet rewarding experience. There’s a small entrance fee (between €2 and €4 per person), which helps with the upkeep—and it’s clearly well invested, because everything is clean and in great shape. It’s a peaceful and refreshing stop if you’re exploring the area. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone looking for a short scenic hike in Bavaria.
Mario K — Google review
Very cool! Was there while raining, which was really an advantage, because it was not too crowded. You can either go up and down same way besides the river and waterfalls, or go down an alternative route. We took alternative route, was very cool! 20€ for family, parking for free.
Öht — Google review
A very nice waterfall to visit. A very enjoyable route for a hike. A very easy route. About 3 hours. .
Yosi R — Google review
The gorge (Klamm) itself is amazing, but it’s overcrowded, which makes it difficult to walk, stop, and truly enjoy the beauty of nature.
Ammar Z — Google review
Wonderful hike in the gorge. We had time only to walk halfway (45 min one way) to the waterfalls.
Josephus P — Google review
I loved this place so so much!!!! I can't wait to visit again. The water was so blue and it was a really good walk.
Katelyn L — Google review
The entrance is easily accessible by car and public transport. There is a parking lot near the Kugelmühle (marble mill), which serves as the starting point for the gorge walk. The trail is well-marked and maintained, making it suitable for families, though parts of the path can be steep and slippery, requiring sturdy footwear. The hike is approximately 3 km one way and takes about 2-3 hours round trip, depending on your pace and the time spent admiring the scenery. The trail winds through the narrow gorge, with bridges and staircases providing safe passage over the rushing Almbach River. You will be treated to numerous waterfalls, rock formations, and serene pools along the way. Various vantage points along the trail offer stunning views of the gorge and surrounding landscape. The interplay of light and water creates a magical atmosphere, particularly in the early morning or late afternoon.

(Translated by Google) The center was busy, but I didn't have to wait long to receive poor service. I wanted to ask about the city tour and a cave, and it was clear that both of my questions were annoying. The customer service representative just wanted me to leave and made a point of being rude to make it happen quickly. A shame, because the city is lovely and the tour was really cool. Jakobine is great. (Original) O centro estava cheio, mas não precisei esperar muito para ser mal atendida. I liked it very much, ery children-friendly, very nice children pool-area. Clean, affordable, a little too crowded, maybe. The staff from the entry were extraordinarely polite. All in all, a positive experience.
Karina A — Google review
Nice place but lots should be renewed. Menu in restaurant without pictures is horrible stuff, should look what another people eat )) but nice place to spend time
Dyadya V — Google review
Well organised, the kids love it. Very busy! Take care in the rapids with those who can't swim well. It gets very busy and I didn't feel it was safe at times. My daughter who is a good swimmer, got trapped under someone for a short time as people keep stopping on the entrance where the rapid gets stronger. I think the numbers in the rapids need managing and the layout amending also for safety. Someone may end up drowning in there. Pools are lovely and warm. The steam rooms were fab. Love the swinging chairs. It is a family spa so not a place to relax but to have fun.
Katie B — Google review
Small but precious. It doesn't have an overwhelming number of attractions, but everything is very nice and clean and it's very nice to stay for a day. My kids had tons of fun, as it was not too crowded and they used the water slide all the time, without any wait.
Thorsten H — Google review
What a great facility! Took my three kids to spend a day inside due to inclement weather. Five pools inside with relaxing areas as well. Lunch was convenient and reasonably priced (cost more than entry for 4+ hours with one adult and three kids.) Water temperature could have been slightly warmer, but it was a great day. My youngest two wore themselves out on the water slide (fun!!) for hours.
Roy J — Google review
Very nice place but the handrails and other metal elements inside the pools were dirty and oily, and a few diffusers of hot steam in steam room were broken and just dripping drops of hot water onto body. Bathrooms could be cleaner as well. Besides that, there is a chilling room, outside pool, smoking areas all over the place, and a restaurant.
Patrycja J — Google review
This isn’t a real hot spring, it’s just salt water, and the spa facilities can’t be operated by yourself—you have to wait for the scheduled times for them to turn on. The experience wasn’t very good.
Isawesome T — Google review
Front desk staff wasn't very helpful, especially since it was obvious we had never been there, but the multiple warm pools were very nice, esp the one half outside. Highly recommend for children too! Lots of play areas for them.

Chapel
Kirchleitn Kapelle, nestled against the stunning backdrop of the Watzmann massif, has become a beloved landmark in Berchtesgaden and is one of Bavaria's most photographed buildings. It offers a great spot for capturing night shots and provides a peaceful retreat from the town where visitors can relax on benches while admiring the breathtaking mountain views. Accessible without special gear, this picturesque chapel also offers an idyllic setting for weddings.
This small yet charming chapel is one of the most photographed locations in the area, thanks to its stunning setting amidst the Bavarian Alps. It is situated on a hill that offers panoramic views of the surrounding valley and the Watzmann mountain, the third highest peak in Germany. The view from the chapel is particularly stunning during sunrise and sunset when the light casts a golden glow on the landscape. The area around the chapel is characterized by rolling green meadows, dense forests, and traditional Bavarian farmhouses, creating a postcard-perfect scene. It is accessible by several hiking trails, the most common route is a short walk from the nearby village of Ramsau, which takes about 20-30 minutes. This trail is relatively easy and well-marked. For those looking for a more extended hike, there are trails that connect Kirchleitn Kapelle to Hintersee lake and the Wimbachklamm gorge, which offer varying levels of difficulty and provide an opportunity to explore the stunning natural beauty of the Bavarian Alps.

a modern chapel built on the top hill and gaves you a very beautiful panoramic view of the town and green surroundings.

Beautiful place to spend a little time appreciating what you have. A little walk to it from town but nothing unmanageable.
MJ M — Google review
Great spot to get away from the town and enjoy the view. If you enjoy relaxing and admiring the mountains this is the place for you. I could have spent hours sitting on one of the benches. There's a place to park near the chapel to enjoy the view...very limited or you can take a short hike up. Definitely worthwhile.
Riccardo C — Google review

Beautiful place. Spent my 30th birthday here. The apartment was clean, tastefully decorated, and well equipped (everything a couple needs to cook and eat together). The hosts were communicative and helpful. The bread was 5/5. And the views are just out of this world. Thoroughly enjoyed losing ourselves up the path behind Salzburgalm that leads up into the mountains.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at what can only be described as the best rental apartment in all of Germany. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home thanks to our incredible hosts, Benny and Svenja. Their warmth, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality made our stay unforgettable. The apartment is spotless, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully designed to offer both comfort and style. Waking up to a breathtaking view of the mountains each morning was a dream, and evenings spent relaxing in the hot tub or unwinding in the private sauna made our stay feel truly luxurious. Benny and Svenja went above and beyond in every way—providing great local recommendations, checking in to make sure we were comfortable, and adding thoughtful touches that made our experience extra special. If you're visiting Germany and want a place that offers both heart and high-end comfort, look no further. We can’t recommend this gem enough and are already dreaming about our return. Thank you, Benny and Svenja, for creating such a magical retreat!

We came here after a visit to the Eagles nest (only 7 minute drive), and had one of the best evenings in a long time. First of all the restaurant has an amazing view and terras looking down the hills and village of Berchtesgaden (nice sunset). The food was even better then the view: fresh, home made in wich you can taste the passion and amazing flavour combinations. I highly recommend the chefs menu. The place is run by a sweet and genuine couple who clearly know what they are doing and understand food and hospitality. Pricing wise its super worth your money, not expensive at all for the high quality and hospitality you receive. We will definetly come back!!

What a venue! With the best hosts possible in Svenja and Benni who were fantastic at helping us organise our wedding. The venue was absolutely perfect and couldn’t have wished for a better day. Benni and Svenja put us in contact with some exceptional caterers. The views and scenery were sublime. Shout out to all the servers as well who were friendly and always keeping everyone hydrated ;). The rooms for all of our family were fantastic, so much so we are already planning a separate trip to stay again and so are other members of the wedding party. Excited also to now try their new restaurant. Thanks again for everything ❤️

As an American traveling all over Germany for 2 weeks, I can absolutely say the 4 days we stayed in Salzbergalm were the highlight of our entire vacation! Absolutely incredible rooms, beautiful views and it’s very easy to navigate to and from there, with plenty of parking. Thank you so much to the owners for giving myself and my family a trip we’ll never forget. The Wilshire/Callahan families.

The facility is situated on a high point above the town and the view is very impressive. The apartment itself is large and very functional. It feels new and well furnished. If you suffer from light in the morning, be sure to close the windows external shutters. The kitchen is fully equipped as well. There is a large supermarket just below the hill, 3 min from the apartment by car. The BF could be a bit more varied but that's a minor point.
