Palmaria is a 1.9-square-kilometer island located off the coast of Portovenere on the Italian Riviera. The island features Mediterranean vegetation, old military buildings, and cliffs with caves. It is part of the Porto Venere Natural Park and attracts visitors from all over the world. One of its popular establishments is Locanda Lorena, a renowned restaurant that has welcomed celebrities like Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, and Roberto Benigni.
Beautiful island just in front of Portovenere! It's so easy to reach using a ferry from Portovenere pier which costs 2.50€ each way! On the island there's a few restaurants/refreshment and it's perfect for a beach day or for a hike day (if I'm not wrong you can do the whole island in 2 hours). There are beautiful landscapes and breathtaking view points! On top of that, you can also spot wild goats all around the island ;) highly recommended! A great and quieter alternative to Cinque Terre!
Vins P — Google review
Unfortunately didn't get enough time to complete the walk around the island. Being October the ferry times were not as often as it would have been in the summer or spring. Definitely will come back.
Regina M — Google review
I like this island very much. The ferry boat takes people to Terrizzo but the rest of the island is not crowded. Palmaria is quiet and it has got fantastic views on Portovenere and the surrounding sea. The trekking around the island is nice and relaxing. There are goats walking free on the paths..they have horns but don't be scared, they are nice!

Antica Osteria del Carugio is a charming rustic-chic restaurant located in the quaint streets of Porto Venere. The attentive waitstaff are knowledgeable about the food and wine offerings, adding to the overall dining experience.
Skip the tourist traps by the water - this is the real deal!! The pesto pasta was SUBLIME! Their scampi pasta AMAZING! and their steamed mussels, no words to describe 🤤🤤🤤 walk up the terrace and try for yourself!
Jonathan S — Google review
Had a lovely 3 course dinner with the bruschetta, mussel pasta and a lemon cake! Local ingredients, quick service and good food. Because of the location, lots of people walk by and so sitting outside is less calm than inside.
Michaela K — Google review
Had dinner here two nights ago. The service absolutely lovely! The pesto pasta was delicious and the wine was excellent. Highly recommended!
Ana D — Google review
Really great and relaxing atmosphere for a romantic dinner with my wife. You can tell all ingredients are good quality and locally sourced. We had the olive oil and bread (sounds simple but is very good quality) and anchovies. Of the main dishes, our favorite was the testaroli. The waiters were very kind and even showed us a video of how this unique dish is made.
Ömer K — Google review
Had a great meal here so don't quite understand the middling rating. We stuck with local delicacies and weren't disappointed. Service was friendly and the atmosphere local, a mix of tourists and Italians. On our way home, glancing at the fussily plated options at the fancier options further down the street, we felt fully satisfied we'd made the right choice at Carugio!
Annie ! — Google review
This little restaurant offers a super charming atmosphere. You can tell from its style that it’s got a lot of character. The staff is very efficient and welcoming. The food is very testy: anchovies filets are a must try, the best I had ever had. As main I had octopus with potatoes and olives, very good!

Pizza restaurant
Il Timone is a popular Italian restaurant located in a vibrant setting with chevron wallpaper and a charming patio. It offers classic pizzas, traditional Ligurian specialties, and affordable set menus. The restaurant is known for its modern interior and delicious dishes, including chickpea farinata and focaccias. Visitors can also enjoy an excellent view of the water from harbor side tables with advance booking required.
I just loved it, charming decorated, delicious food for a reasonable price in comparison to other places. The chef showed up at my table too to verify my order and if everything was up to standard. Ver y attentive. And the waitress was adorable, funny girl. The location is perfect, right across the ferry pier. Amazing
Esteban M — Google review
It seems that your experience depends on what you order. The prosciutto plate, minestrone soup and calamari were well liked by our group. The rest- pastas, pizza, chicken, mussels, were not very good. First, most plates had little flavor. Even the deserts were literally flavorless. I had to salt the pizza, but the pesto and cheese were good. The chicken plate for nearly $30 had only 2 dry chicken legs. Even after complaining about a few items the owner did not offer any discount or refund. We wish we asked our hotel concierge for recommendations first.
Mariah N — Google review
Really bad pizzas. I didn't ask for any of those ingredients. The french fries were so dry and inedible. She said "roast potatoes were not on the menu" but then it's better to say no before receiving them. I won't go back never. Very bad experience!
Jasmeen 0 — Google review
1 star because there is not option for 0 stars. We ordered 6 pizzas for takeaway. First of all, the size of the pizzas was for babies, not at all a standard italian pizza. Secondly, 4 out of 6 pizzas’ ingredients were wrong. Fries (patatine fritte) instead of the ordered oven baked potatoes. Salad leaves instead of rocket (rucola). Pickled onions instead of standard onions. No or little ham and zuchinis on a “ham and zuchinis” pizza. When we called the owner/manager she said that they don’t have the ingredients we requested, but she didn’t tell us at the moment of the order. 6 pizzas for 79€, we don’t care about the price if there is quality, but in this case, please just stay away from this restaurant if you are italian. (It’s just for tourist who eat doesn’t know shit about italian food).
Gagandip S — Google review
We came thinking the menu looked good. It’s definitely a tourist trap and I do not recommend coming, we’ve had such good experiences with food here near La Spezia but this has been the worst. They change the plain flat dry bread they bring at the table 5€, the food doesn’t have taste and the portions are too small. I usually don’t give bad reviews but this was way too much.
Sofia O — Google review
This was an unexpected surprise! Il Timone truly captures the culture of Italy. Their food is made masterfully and with so much love. The service is friendly and welcoming. Also, it is a beautiful view on the water. Thank you ❤️

Have enjoyed this restaurant twice so far during our Porto Venere. There is an excellent view over the water from harbour side tables, but an advance booking is required to get one of these. We've both eaten the daily seafood pasta on both visits, along with a selection of secondi including stuffed sardines, fritto misto and the seafood soup. All have been extremely tasty. The wine selection is also excellent and we've received great advice from the head waitress on both occasions. We plan on returning again. Highly recommended.

Absolutely delicious!! Had lunch here after a friend recommended it and I do not understand how the Google rating is only 4.1/5. Honestly, this place deserve 4.5 and above. Location is lovely, staff was extremely friendly and most importantly, all food we had was incredibly delicious!!!
Laura B — Google review
Great food and good location, but it took a long time to be served and the staff was clearly a lot more service-minded to Italian speakers and locals than tourists. I had a seafood pasta and got a great wine recommendation for a local wine.
Michaela K — Google review
We had the Crudo Mare for starters. Very fresh and tasty! And the best meal we have had in Porto Venere is the Mixed Seafood Spagetti! Very fresh, pasta was al dente and the sauce was perfection! Romantic atmosphere and good service.
Pevon H — Google review
Very good, but there are better restaurants in Italy. The salted sardines with burrito appetizer was tasty, so was the spaghetti pomedoro basilico primi.
Jan S — Google review
The food was excellent! Unfortunately we and the table next to us were constantly swarmed by wasps. We asked to be reseated to another table, but were refused. It’s unfortunate because the food was excellent and the atmosphere would’ve been pleasant if it weren’t for all those wasps. We wanted to stay for desserts, but ultimately decided against it because of the wasps. I wanted to have a nice meal, not constantly fight a battle against an evil swarm the whole meal. We hardly had the time to enjoy the food, as we kept getting up to avoid being stung. They offered no discount for the inconvenience. It’s a shame. Hopefully their wasp problem will be taken care of soon. In the meantime, beware.

I booked this restaurant for a bachelorette party dinner. Food was delicious and staff was so kind and sweet. Every local people we met told us to go there, also prices are absolutely reasonable. Location is perfect, would 100% recommend!

Food was okay, but it was very slow. Seems they are really lacking of staff. Been to northern Italy for 2 weeks, been to 2 restaurants everyday, the Coperto of this restaurant was the most expensive - 5 euros per person , including kids. Even a Michelin restaurant charges 3 euros per head, some restaurants don’t count my two kids at all.

Ferry service
The Maritime Consortium Turistico Cinque Terre - Gulf of Poets offers a delightful experience for travelers exploring the stunning coastal region. Visitors can embark on a scenic walk to Chiesa San Lorenzo, Chiesa San Pietro, and the fortress while enjoying picturesque views. The ferry service to Cinque Terre provides an excellent way to witness the beauty of the area, with comfortable boats and reliable schedules. However, it's important to note that occasional changes may occur due to sea conditions.
We walked to the Chiesa San Lorenzo, Chiesa San Pietro, and to the top of the fortress. Caught a ferry to Cinque Terre for 39 EU.

Total chaos and incompetence whe. It comes to directing people. Put up a few sighs, make a actual line if you don't want people trying to get on a boat en masse. Use some common sense. Shake my head. Always ask 2 staff members your questions. You usually get 2 different answers.
Brian M — Google review
Boat service from here is fine, but it helps to be creative when returning as some of the other ports are very crowded/inaccessible so advise to try a hybrid of boat+trains if you want stress/queue free visits to the 5 towns.
Alex V — Google review
Horrible services, we do not recommend this company, be very carrefull. You dont know till the departure time, if the boat is going or not. Information phone number is not working, nobody is picking the phone. So the only way how to realise if the boat is going or not, is waiting in the port. We lost one day of our holiday because of this company. NEVER MORE.
Martin P — Google review
Excellent way to see the area! Very good service and nice boats.
Mattia P — Google review
Payed 33€ to see Vernazza but did not got time to go off board because off a motor problem. That really sucks! Now waiting in Monterosso to go back to Portovenere. Total rip off!!!!

Located on the small island of Palmaria, Locanda Lorena is a charming restaurant accessible by boat from Portovenere. This hidden gem offers exceptional regional pasta dishes and grilled fish with stunning views of the marina. The restaurant also doubles as a hotel for those who wish to extend their stay. Guests can expect impeccable service and an unforgettable dining experience in this breathtaking location.
This is just a review of the restaurant, we did not stay at the hotel. We went to this restaurant recommendation of a local. It was absolutely fantastic. Everything about it - the food, the setting, the service, the transportation to the island - was memorable. The portions were generous and the seafood was all delicious and cooked perfectly. Very reasonably priced too. We had our kids with us and the staff was so gracious and kind to them. We ordered just a simple bolognese for our littlest kids who might not appreciate the seafood and the waiter brought a huge amount of pasta and said ‘just one portion’ with a wink as he set it down. I would highly recommend and will definitely return!
Elizabeth H — Google review
It was an absolutely amazing experience! Great welcome, great service, and fabulous food. I love the boat service, which was equally a friendly service.
Monique R — Google review
This restaurant is on the island of Palmaria and has really great and local food. The “muscles” are top notch and the pasta dishes have great depth in taste and the portion is quite good. The pasta with pesto is a must try. Highly recommended if you’re traveling in Porto Venere or are close to 5 terre
Luca D — Google review
The only good part of the experience was the boat ride, which was timely and enjoyable. Upon arrival, the staff didn't want to serve us. I believe this was because we don't speak fluent Italian, although we can otherwise get by. The waiter was extremely rude and impatient and did not even want to serve us from the beginning. The steak was undercooked, the unknown fish was overcooked, and the shrimp and lobster still had all it's shells on, so it hurt to take it off. The people/staff who worked there laughed at my wife when she asked for something to crack open the shells. After all the food was finished, one of the day felt nauseated. If I could give this place 0 stars I would, but Google rating only allows from 1-5 stars.
Sabino K — Google review
Amazing place, great staff and service, great food. Can’t wait to go back.
Erik S — Google review
Great food and service! Tucked away from the main tourist traps, this genuine restaurant did not disappoint. We had a quick lunch where we found a good selection of pasta which was cooked well and tasted great. Would happily eat here again if I visit Porto Venere again.

A Venetian boat will take you across from Portovenere. One of the most delicious meals of our trip. The mixed seafood antipasti were excellent, we loved our pastas, and the grilled fresh fish was simple yet perfect. We loved the very friendly hospitality and service above it all. Time it with sunset for a romantic dinner.
Emily K — Google review
We went to the restaurant and not the hotel . From what I tried in portovenere, this is the best by far. The place is nice with a good view over the portovener. We found the taxi boat that carried us to the other side. We ordered different dishes. From the basic pasta to the grilled fish. Really enjoyed our food. At the end, we got to know that it was recommended Michelin in 2018

Trattoria della Marina • da Antonio is a charming restaurant located near the main square in Porto Venere, nestled under colorful houses at the beginning of the harbor. It's an ideal spot for a romantic dinner, offering exquisite seafood dishes and a variety of other options. The menu features locally caught oysters, stuffed mussels with delectable sauce for dipping bread, and flavorful mussels spaghetti.
We decided to visit our friends, Marta and Hugh, in Portovenere, Liguria. It was a beautiful, sunny day on 16 September 2024, not too hot, with just the perfect temperature. For lunch, we chose to dine at Trattoria Della Marina, da Antonio. We enjoyed a lovely dish of fresh fish. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time for dessert, but the view from the restaurant is stunning, offering a breathtaking landscape. The food was freshly prepared, delicious, and we didn’t have to wait long. A truly wonderful experience - thank you!

A good restaurant with nice atmosphere. The service was good and the lasagna was delicious. You can sit inside or outside which is nice on a chilly evening.
Suzi D — Google review
The food was tasty, nothing wrong with that. Everyone enjoyed it. Just beware of the extra 2€ per person BREAD FEE and 3€ per person SERVICE FEE so prepare to pay 5€ more per person than normal. I don't respect hidden fees. Wait time was on the little longer size but that's fine to me.
Sun S — Google review
I dined out this restaurant tonight and experienced really poor service. The waiter forgot our menu and served the dish after 40min later without apology. It is located in the main entrance and the price looks reasonable. But it’s not true. They charge 2 euro for dried bread per person. Only the olive oil quality is decent. Over priced for every dish. Moreover small portion is plus. Not recommend.
Sujin L — Google review
Poor service. Took 20 minutes to get the menus. Another 20 to get two drinks out of 6 that we have ordered. We never got the as a matter of fact. The food came after around 50 minutes from placing the order. Considering that we ordered two steaks cooked till medium you can see in the photo the state of the meat. Not only that I was not seasoned, unevenly cooked, very veiny and tasted like a shoe it was not enjoyable at all. The waiters didn’t take any feedback into the account. I don’t know why there were so many people, I guess it was a tourist trap. Never again. Highly discourage anyone from eating here. Oh, also when we were ordering we could hear people at the other table who were complaining about the time and quality, however decided to give them a shot. Bad luck.

Grotta di Lord Byron is a rocky cove named after the famous English poet who found inspiration in its waters. The area, once visited by Lord Byron and Percy B. Shelly, offers breathtaking natural beauty and an opportunity for swimming. Although there's no designated entry point into the water and the rocks can be covered with algae and moss, it's still a great experience for those who approach carefully.
Portovenere (or Venus's harbor) is a charming place full of myateries and secrets. The renowned poet Lord Byron swam from this spot and a grotto was named after him accordingly. Nice to take pics from here
Urban T — Google review
Grotta di Lord Byron is more than just a rocky inlet—it’s a dramatic, windswept tribute to poetry and the power of the sea. Named after the English poet who famously swam across the gulf from here, the spot is steeped in romantic legend. Waves crash against black stone walls as sunlight filters through the narrow opening, creating a moody, cinematic vibe. It’s a must-visit for the atmosphere and view alone.
E P — Google review
It's a sumptuous little town with narrow, alley-lined streets, and the Grotta di Lord Byron is charming, with a wonderful view of the endless sea and a bay perfect for an enclosed beach.

Spent multiple days swimming here! Clear water with tons of fish, so bring goggles. Would 100% visit again. Be careful though as the water can be quite rough and dangerous sometimes.

One of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen in my life
Arzu H — Google review
This place is magic. We accidentally stumbled upon it solely because we were staying at the Porto Venere Grand a short walk away. We visited it it two nights in a row for the views and sunset. I decided to swim on our second evening - there are tourists and locals alike sunbathing, swimming, and cliff jumping. It’s a bit of a steep walk down, so would be difficult for someone with mobility issues. Also, you have to make sure you’re comfortable exploring and swimming without a lifeguard/safety personnel present. If you’re comfortable, I highly recommend grabbing a picnic and some champagne to relax on the rocks and enjoy some swimming. In the middle of the summer, even at golden hour, it can be quite hot in the sun, so plan appropriately. There is a rock lower down close to the water that most people were using to get in and out of the water - many were jumping in from higher points as well. I scraped my legs pretty badly trying to get out on the rocks/barnacles - keep an eye out for jellyfish as well - a few of us got stung. Regardless, the scrapes and sting were well worth it as this was a highlight of our trip and one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen.

Perfect view and good service. But €18 for a salad (mentioned as "big salad" on the menu) with only 3 ingredients on it, is a bit to much! PS: you pay separately for bread, and the seasoning on the photo is done by my self with the olive oil on the table. Next to the fact that the view and location are perfect, still this price is not worthed for what you get.

Had a great day here. €40 for beds/umbrella (€50 if you take the front row). Staff were lovely, bistro great for food and drinks. Nice place for a swim in the sea too. 😎
Paul R — Google review
We walked down because of the reviews. Checked their website for rates and figured 30 euros for 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella was reasonable. When we walked up one employee quoted that price but then another suggested 50 euros. We were with another couple. The place was dead and sky overcast so we requested the rate showing on their website. There was some squabbling but then the bar mgr agreed to a credit at the bar for the difference. No one offered service to the beach chairs. We walked up to the bar/bistro for lunch and our food was undercooked…raw. After showing the waitress she acknowledged it, apologized but still brought the bill as is. Very disappointing for the cost of the time there.

Not turist friendly, in fact not friendly at all. We went there at 5 pm and it was closing 7 pm, they charged us 35 Euros for two sun beds and one umbrella. And for this price we were seated in the very back line while there were plenty of spaces in the front by the sea, they said that they are reserved for the club members although it was obvious no one were using those especially at this time of the day. Terrible experience. This is a fancy exclusive beach club, don’t go there. There are plenty if nice beach bars around with hospitality that you should choose.

Italian restaurant
Torre di Venere offers a dining experience with stunning views, making it worth the visit despite the higher prices. The Lobster Linguini and Pesto Trofie are decent but may seem overpriced compared to other options in town. The starter of red mullet with fish egg and basil olive oil receives praise for its texture and taste. The service is exceptional, with flexibility in seating and attentive staff. Visitors recommend the top floor terrace for an even better view.
This place made my day in Porto Venere. Oysters local & French one were fresh, all food very tasty, portions were not very big, but enough too enjoy & don’t be hungry. Wine cart big and really good quality wines. And my finding of this lunch - Sgroppino. Staff very friendly.

Torri di Venere is truly a gem. Perched on the hillside in front of the Loggia Romanica, it offers not only breathtaking views but also the chance to enjoy a swim in the lagoon — honestly, I wish I could live here. It’s one of the most stunningly beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The restaurant itself is run with remarkable dedication. The owner clearly takes pride in offering exceptional service and cuisine, and it shows in every detail. Yes, the meal is expensive, but absolutely worth every cent. Adding to the charm is the family of seagulls that have lived here for over ten years. They gently glide by to say hello without intruding, keeping the pigeons away and creating a sense of harmony with both the restaurant and its guests. The combination of food, atmosphere, and service easily deserves 10 stars if that were possible. Torri di Venere isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience. Perfect for special occasions and big events like weddings, or simply for anyone who wants to feel a touch of magic. We loved every moment here and will definitely be coming back.

Starter was red mullet with fish egg on top and basil olive oil. Texture with ocean tastes was impressed us Fried squid and vegitable were very fresh. The flour coat was not too crunchy either not too soft. Taste was just right. Consider the weather, this dish was not too heavy but delightful with sparking drink. Service here was super and flexible. We got a table without reservation. Was very lucky. I would recommend the terrece on top floor. View is much better.

Perfect location for a Sunday afternoon lunch. Seafood linguine was excellent. Highly recommended. Stunning views.
Doug R — Google review
We went for some drinks and the experience was amazing. From the very first moment, the service was outstanding: friendly, attentive, and with those little details that truly make a difference. The place itself is gorgeous, with a privileged view that makes everything twice as enjoyable. The music was perfect—lively, but without overwhelming the conversation, creating the ideal atmosphere to have a great time. And as if that weren’t enough, they surprised us with complimentary bites that were absolutely delicious! 🍸🫒✨ That thoughtful touch made the whole experience feel even more special.

Staff if super friendly, drinks are exceptional, and sunset views are breathtaking. A little spot but totally worth the wait.

We visited this amazing restaurant for lunch on at visit to Porto Venere. We hadn't intended to have a special lunch, but found the restaurant on Google maps with great reviews so decided we'd spend extra over the more touristy restaurants around the corner. We were well rewarded by an amazing dining experience. The staff were kind, helpful and attentive and all of the food we selected was delicious. The seafood dishes contained fresh and delicious seafood and the braised veal cheeks were flavourful, succulent and delicious. Without a doubt the highlight dish was the risotto with the fruits of the sea. The seafood was delicious and the risotto was creamy and perfectly seasoned. The music being played was great too, perfect for the location. We were so pleased we paid a little extra and were rewarded with amazing food and amazing views in a relaxed outdoor dining experience. If we were to go back to Porto Venere we would go back again.

By far my favorite dinner in Portovenere. Really it was an experience. From the gracious staff who are so kind and attentive to the beautiful view and the great food it's a 5 out of five all the way around. I had the lobster spaghetti and my husband had clam linguine. The drink the appetizers the mail that dessert all of it was outstanding. They even bring you a blanket when it gets chilly. What a special evening I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant.

Doria is a charming bar with a spacious terrace overlooking the sea, offering quick service and a diverse menu. The staff is fluent in English and provides efficient service. Customers can enjoy a variety of food and drink options, from sweet to savory, hot to cold. The bar offers Aperol spritz and appetizers, providing an enjoyable experience for visitors. Additionally, Doria's takeaway service is friendly and prompt.
We ordered 2 affogato coffee, an orange juice and a couple of pastries 1 pistachio sfogliatella and 1 cinnamon roll with raisins. All delicious! Homemade ice-cream on affogato coffee was amazing. It was early in the morning and it was a fast service, only some couples were sitting at the moment. Friendly staff.

If you make one single stop in Portovenere make it this one. Drinks on the seaside patio at sunset with complementary snacks is so relaxing you'll wish you lived next door. The service was lightning fast and efficient, the aperol was refreshing and perfect strength, and the view and people watching was the cherry on top. I've honestly never been so relaxed in the Italian riviera

Sat here for 15 minutes without service. We were then given menus and and another 10 minutes went by before anyone came back so we left. Great view, brutal service. We have quickly realized Italians don't really care about tourist. Skip this place. They have generally bad reviews

A nice bar to escape from the heat and the thirst. It has big terrace along the sea, Service was quick compared to its size. To get the menu, you just have to scan the barcode. They were plenty of things to choose from sweet to salty, drink to eat, hot to cold. Waiter speaks English. Aperol splits came with 5 dishes of apéritive. We were not sure the price was included so we didn’t touch as we were not hungry neither. At the end it was not included in the bill so I believe it was included. Not bad isn’t?! 🍹🍸🍻

La Pitonetta is an ice cream shop located on the main road of Porto Venere. The owner takes inspiration from the local area to create unique and fresh flavors. While it may not be a fancy spot, it offers good food at reasonable prices with a kind staff and a gorgeous view by the sea. It's also a great place to enjoy a beer and watch the world go by while indulging in some delicious ice cream.

Nice enough 3 euros the square of focaccia. Had the margherita and then the pesto one. Dough is ok, fillings are fine in term of quantity and taste. Average snack

I think they should taste their pastry before selling them and give me their honest opinion. Even the seagulls to whom I gave my pistachio roll to eat found it dry.

Looks good but taste does not match it. Just too sweet and bland. Pistachio does not even taste like pistachio. Dont waste your money. They overcharge as well

Cocktail bar
Venus Bar Portovenere is situated beneath the lofty brick ceilings of the former Convent of Saint Francis, offering a historic ambiance. Guests can enjoy good cocktails with a stunning view and friendly service. However, some find the prices to be on the expensive side, such as 16 EUR for a Mojito. Nonetheless, it's praised for its beautiful location and delightful cocktail offerings.
Relaxing, inviting and friendly, helpful staff. Cozy setting inside with a delightful, elevated patio away from the street traffic to relax and view the harbor. Impeccable bartenders with a nice variety of cocktails served with lovely tidbits.

(Translated by Google) Wonderful view, very friendly waiters, but the drinks were undrinkable!!! €20 a drink for a view like that and service like that is acceptable, but for a mojito that was so alcoholic and acidic from the lime, with no balance and garnished with a lemon slice that had nothing to do with the drink, no, I've never been so disappointed and disgusted by a place with prices like that serving such lousy drinks!!! Get a bartender who even knows how to make good cocktails!! Portovenere, a picturesque village nestled along the Ligurian coast of northwestern Italy, is a true gem of the Mediterranean. This charming destination boasts vibrant 12th-century houses that line its harbor, creating an enchanting atmosphere reminiscent of days gone by. The iconic La Palazzata, a row of tall and slender tower houses, stands as a testament to the village's history and was originally built for protection against pirates.
Portovenere is pure magic—like the Italian Riviera’s best-kept secret. The pastel buildings, dramatic cliffs, and that ancient church perched over the sea feel straight out of a dream. It’s got that perfect blend of laid-back coastal vibes and deep, old-world soul. I’ve traveled a lot, and this little harbor town stole my heart. Don’t just take the boat to Cinque Terre—stay here and soak it all in.
