There was no food here but it’s known for craft cocktails and mock tails- that’s what you will find it here. Had 4 really good drinks here 1. Penitent — by far best one !!! A deep, smoky aroma with a hint of ginger, balancing mezcal’s earthiness with bright, spicy tones. Refreshing yet robust, leaving a warm, tingling finish. 2. In house/ on tap : Begins with a charred wood aroma reminiscent of a campfire. Whiskey’s warmth deepens with layered smokiness. Do not go by the name of the premises, The Sugar House , it’s not related to ice cream or sweets. It’s liquor bar. Visited first time and loved its ambience. I have seen the very vast variety of cocktails in their menu, 101 menu of whiskey menu. They serve only cocktails and mocktails , no food is served here. It’s a must visit place and would again visit.

The Sugar House is a gem in Detroit. I ordered the EFK, a special menu item, and it’s a must-try for whiskey lovers—bold, balanced, and unforgettable. I also had the warm chocolate chip cookies, which were perfectly gooey with a pinch of sea salt that brought out all the rich flavors. My server, Florence, was fantastic—attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. The vibe here is cozy but elevated, and you can tell they care about the details. From the cocktails to the service, everything was top-notch. I’ll definitely be back.

We went to this place this weekend to celebrate our sister's birthday and it was amazing. Florence was our server and she MADE THE NIGHT! Their service was spectacular, they were entertaining, outgoing and made us stay longer than we planned on because we were having such an fun time. Her recommendation of drinks to try, preferences of liquors to try in our drinks, and even snack suggestions were amazing. She was very attentive to our large group size, we had 6 of us and we were ordering drinks frequently, her service was amazing, clearing the table of empty glasses and refreshing drinks. We had a great time and will be coming back really soon.

Candy Bar was our favorite high end cocktail bar in Downtown Detroit during our three day stint and boy did we try them all. Very cool art design, very inventive yet high quality cocktail menu, and Samuel & Angie were so nice and fun and knowledgeable. Definitely a rec if you like cocktails and a fun environment.

Sam and Josh were amazing! We’re in town for work and they gave us a thorough list of places to check out and things to do. A bartender at Post Bar recommended Candybar and the vibe and their hospitality did not disappoint. Highly recommend!

I had an outstanding experience thanks to Shaun behind the bar. From the moment I sat down, he was warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to ask what flavors I enjoy and then crafted a custom cocktail that hit every note—balanced, creative, and beautifully presented. Beyond the drinks, Shaun kept the vibe welcoming and upbeat, checked in at the right moments, and made everyone feel like a regular. Give that man a raise!!!

Nice warm, friendly vibe here. I had a Sol Dorado (with Don Julio Reposado tequila, Convite Mezcal, mango-chamoy cordial, mango liqueur, lime and tajin); also ordered the “I’m Pretty” ( w/ Lobos 1707 Reposado tequila, white rum, strawberry syrup, tres leches mix and whipped cream). I would describe this place as POSH.

STANDBY is hands down one of my favorite spots in the city! The place looks amazing—stylish, modern, and just gives off a cool vibe the second you walk in. The food is always on point, no matter what we order. Everything is packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The service is just as impressive—everyone we’ve encountered has been super friendly, talkative, and even pretty funny, which makes the experience even better. It’s a place I always recommend to friends. If you haven’t been, you’re seriously missing out!

Phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was a hit, even the salad. The dishes to note are the scallop ceviche, the crispy pork belly toast, beef short ribs, and the Granny Smith coffee cake. We went as a group of 4 and ordered 4 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 deserts and left stuffed. Staff was a 10/10 and the interior is a tight cozy place with dim lights. It was a little difficult to find the restaurant but it’s well worth the hunt! Would recommend for date nights or any occasion.

The staff and mocktails were excellent. Endless fun choices of drinks. The food was a bit underwhelming. This was a few months ago so the menu may have changed. We loved the coconut shrimp and dessert. Our meals were good but nothing too stand out. Server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.

1st time checking out standby and it was mid at best. The entrance and ambiance definitely was a vibe. I love how they did the drink menu as a newspaper but I can see some people getting confused with it as its got alot going on. Our server Sky was really nice and she made some great recommendations...the only thing we ran into was when we were ready to go she was no where to be found for 15 minutes and had to ask another waiter for our bill...im sure she was tending to other things because overall she did a great job. The drinks although creative didnt blow us away and the food was decent but nothing to race about. Overall wasnt a terrible experience and a decent spot for lunch or dinner.

Such an elegant spot with a great selection of food and drinks- Walking into Standby almost feels like going back in time, giving you a glimpse into what late night dining must have been like in the Golden Age of Detroit. The food selection was simple yet delicious. The newspaper menu format was also pretty neat. The smash burger was to die for, literally so good. Their drink selection was equally as impressive and almost mysterious. I opted for the milkshake cocktail, and was surprised at how good it was. Wish we could have been in town for longer, cus Standby’s a spot I’d love to frequent. Highly recommend.

My friends and I have been to Standby on many-a-night for cocktails, and this place never disappoints. The servers and bartenders are so helpful in assisting you choose a drink that you will enjoy. There is something for everyone here. We tried some of their small batch tequila and were blown away. Highly recommend. Last night we went and had dinner for the first time. All the apps were outstanding- we got the coconut shrimp, olive and pepper tray, and wings. No notes!!! So good. For dinner we each got one of the entrees. My husband got the steak, it was perfect. Cooked to medium rare, excellent sauce. My pasta limone was also outstanding- creamy, garlicky, and the noodles were cooked just right. The French fries were also very good! Unfortunately, our friends were disappointed by their meals. The burger is extremely thick- too meaty, the bun lost its integrity. The brick chicken was good, but everyone thought it needed a little extra seasoning. It was a bit bland. We finished with the lemon bar dessert- which was great! Overall, we loved this spot and we will be back! However, for being such a small menu, everything should be perfect. And my husband and I felt lucky to order the best entrees.

An absolute gem in Detroit! Drinks were superb. Service was at its peak. Loved sitting at the bar watching drinks be made and the interactions between the staff. Great distillery tour. Come to the warehouse and learn about how whiskey is made! Our tour guide was very friendly and super animated to talk about what he does on a daily basis. We also saw the warehouse cat :) The tour started with a whiskey punch, which was awesome. At the end of the tour, you will get a chance to sample a few liquors (whiskey, rye, rum, gin) from the distillery and buy some bottles to take home. They have merch, too.

I took my friend for her birthday it was such a great time. Michael was AMAZING very educated, fun, knowledgeable about the products/process! The tour was fun Micheal very engaging and funny! I will definitely recommend 👌🏽

First time here and it was fantastic!!!! Paul welcomed us with a great hello and such a cheerful attitude. We (my husband and I ) enjoyed a flight of the whiskey flight and an idle hands. Both were superb! The bar itself is fun and relaxed. We will definitely be back again!

Stopped in to get a bottle of Isabella Absenthe. I live in PA and was visiting Detroit to visit B Nectar Medary. Happened to mention I was in search of Detroit Distillery and the staff there gave us directions. Love how the local businesses are looking out for each other! Wat a great neighborhood it is located in. You can see the locals are trying to revitalizes the neighborhood. Best wished to all !

The distillery is very cute and the bartenders are nice but THIS GUY RIGHT HERE, IS A WHOLE VIBE!!! Paul is pure SUNSHINE!! Please come by this place in the summer and witness his magical vibe at the tiki bar right outside! Thank me later. He is funny, hospitable, kind, cute and sunshine on a cloudy day. I hope when I come back home to Detroit, he is always here! Oh and give him raise! He deserves it! ♥️

The perfect place to take reprieve from the Market chaos. The tiki bar theme (summer 2025) is really cool with killer drinks.

The food: I'd like to give an assessment but I'm still waiting for it 🤨😐😑 food never came, waitress keep getting no answers and kitchen wouldn't prepare it, they were so understaffed at the kitchen, we waited for 2 hours and no entrees were served. The one and only thing it was brought were some pretzel sticks 🥨 which were delicious (but we were so hungry that we could've been biased 😂🤷🏻‍♂️) The gaming area: The feather bowling is very interesting, I'd never played until that time and overall from my visit I'd say this was the highlight ... Beware that the gaming court is filled with dirt so AVOID bringing white (or clear) shoes 🤫🤣 The yard: The yard or outside seating area is great, but also the weather was so nice when I was there. During the weekends they have some bands playing so be aware that a cover would and most likely be charged just for seating outside and listening. I think that partially because of this they were over crowded and the kitchen couldn't keep up with orders, unfortunately I was one of the affected ones.

I went recently to the Cadieux to see a Bob Seger tribute band. We had tickets, but I suggest you get there early. VERY limited seating outside only five minutes after the show started. It's nice to have the picnic community seating, but the tables are very uncomfortable and a little dangerous. Our table and benches were very rickety, swaying with everyone's every move, spilling drinks very easily, etc. Sitting with a bunch of strangers and hardly being able to move without knocking their drinks over is an uncomfortable situation. I saw a woman at another table flip one of the benches she was sitting on. The one end flying up in the air, hitting another customer in the head and leaving a look of bewilderment on the face of the woman who ended up on the ground in embarrassment. Just be careful when picking a sturdy table outside. Service was okay. Saw a lot of attitude going on, maybe because there wasn't enough wait staff? We had to go in and order our food and drinks. I recommend the mussels with fries!!

We had a great time at Cadieux Café … we popped in to check out the feather bowling, which was completely a blast to watch. We have Bocce where we are from, but have never heard of feather bowling… What a hoot! Would love to see this in Erie,PA. While we were there, we were surprised with a phenomenal band called Marshall Morlock from Key West. Their music was great & dad and son’s personalities were electric. We’ve never been to Detroit before and we’re so pleasantly welcome by the bartender, bowlers and the guests. Unfortunately, they were out of the rabbit and Belgian stew… But the clams were yummy. Thanks everyone for a wonderful welcome to Detroit!

What a fun, old authentic Belgian bar. We went for a drink on a Thursday and ordered Bavic beers. Then feather bowling league players showed up and we watched them. Decided to order a bowl of mussels and fries, they were great, get the garlic and horseradish mayo. Then a really fun jazz band showed up at 8 pm. All around great unplanned, unexpected adventure.

Service was super friendly, food was amazing. I could not recommend their onion soup enough, one of the best I’ve ever had, it’s a must-try. The Cafe also has live music and the selection of performers is phenomenal, the artists are incredibly talented.

This place is a Detroit institution- I love the food (Mussels!) and atmosphere. However, the service was sub par. Was definitely hurried and rushed to finish the meal despite it not being very busy. Might have something to do that my companion and I do not drink. After the meal, my companion and I lingered by my car in the parking lot and was rudely told to leave by staff parking lot attended. I understand there’s a band playing that require a cover charge, but we were not loitering. He was obviously inebriated and looking for a confrontation, which he did not get. Instead, I am this writing review. No matter how good the food is it any restaurant I will not return if staff is ill mannered.

Best neighborhood bar for live music in all of Detroit. Mussel Beach: 10/10 All this, plus feather bowling!

Came in for the first time for a burger because I heard it was a good spot. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. The burgers I believe are frozen not fresh which gives you a tastless burger. It wasn't seasoned only thing that was seasoned was the fries. I got a double cheeseburger and the bacon was undercooked patties bland. Onion still has the outside skin on it and the tomato wasn't ripe and they just chopped a huge slice and put it on the burger. Honestly would've rather made my own.

I would’ve enjoyed it more if the fries wasn’t as hard & burnt up.. they burned them down and threw powder sugar on it that didn’t help, the burger was solid, but wish it wasn’t over cooked. Overall 3/5 only because i been here before and the food was better, but today wasn’t it. Kind of mad i spent my money on it. Just make sure yall look at before you leave on the takeout side. Had to stop by again & give it another try, This time they definitely Didn’t disappoint, the owner reached out and was very thorough on helping me out Next time I came in I came in tonight and it was great. Can’t wait to dig in. That’s why I have to change my order to the five star they do they due diligence and make sure that customers are very satisfied. Thank you guys@ checker Bar!

It's your typical watering hole that the locals love to hang out at. But, if you want a really good burger downtown Detroit, this is the place to get one.

This place is so awesome! There are two floors that you can go back and forth. Bars are on both floors. The top floor has TONS of vintage arcade games and tables to eat at as well. There are even little tables set up throughout the floor, so you have a place to set your food and drink while you play! This place probably has every game you can think of! The staff were friendly, attentive, and kind. The food was 10/10. Ordered pizza, chicken parm sandwich, and the garlic knots. Will most definitely be back!

Fun dive bar with surprisingly good food! I got the burger and cheese sticks, but the pizza looked incredible (as the waitress kept serving them to other patrons). At night, the upstairs appears to be for a younger crowd and louder and the downstairs was more for a family crowd.

A friend and I came in for the Rotten Route Event. Upon arrival, it was unique in its decor. Upstairs has an arcade. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try these burgers, I've heard so much about them. We only came in for a drink before leaving on the bus. Service was fast, prices were fair, and drinks were just right! I will be back to try a burger for sure!

I went for lunch. I ordered a personal (small) BBQ chicken pizza. It was SO good! It was thin crust, extra cheesy, and the bread was sweet. It was big enough for two people. It's a little spot, but it's super cute inside. The lunch rush came in right around 1230pm. There's a full bar. It's definitely worth stopping in!

I went to The Skip in Detroit for an AfroFuture event and had such a good time. The DJ was a vibe and the crowd matched the energy all night. The space felt fun, the music was on point, and the atmosphere made it easy to just enjoy and connect. Definitely a spot I’d go back to.

I really wanted to enjoy The Skip because someone posted it IG but unfortunately, it wasn't the experience I was hoping. The atmosphere was amazing. The decorations were fabulous. I really liked the theme. Unfortunately, as soon as we walked in (had a reservation party of 2) there were people everywhere. No matter where we stood, we were in someones way. Once seated, the waiter took out orders. We ordered our drinks (2) and they arrived after almost 10-15 minutes of waiting. After that, our waiter never came back. We had to flag him down if we wanted to order anything else. Our water wasn't refilled and no one came back by to ask us if we needed anything else. The drinks were just "okay". I had questions because holiday theme drinks are hit or miss but no one was checking on us. Once we got the waiters attention for the bill, gratuity was added for 2 people even though the menu said gratuity added for 6 and more!! This was extremely disappointing.

The belt in general is a nice experience. Unfortunately the skip has gone downhill. The bartenders have a terrible attitude and are very unhelpful. Used to like coming here but I'd recommend the standby or mootz instead.

Loved loved this place. Open air and great drinks. How can you go wrong? The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly for being as busy as he was. Bad Luck Bar might be small, but it delivers a big experience. The space is intimate, moody, and thoughtfully designed, perfect for a night out that feels a little more personal. You can actually hear the person next to you, which is rare and refreshing. The service was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. Every drink I’ve had was delicious. Definitely a hidden gem worth seeking out.

This place should get 5 stars for the atmosphere alone. Tucked away in a stinky alleyway, this gem offers a quiet place for cute dates with exceptional drinks and 5 stars service. When you get seated in their slick bar or their comfy booths you find yourself served with still water and a tiny delicious surprise. They give you their menu of delicious (slightly pricey but well worth it) drinks. No one in our group was disappointed, and how could you be when your served unique cups, with metal straws at a candlelit table with great company? We came here to celebrate a birthday, and we don’t want to leave. Shoutout to Aaron and Luka for making our night memorable!

“Unique” doesn’t cut it. This place is bonkers. This is one of those one-of-kind places that you pine to go back to even the next day. The location, the intimate space, the style and vibe are all exceptional. More importantly, the high level of craft is paired with their level of enthusiasm - something that is hard to find. We were helped by Matt and Eric and our experience quickly became warm and personal. Not to mention, the drinks were inspiring, and even befuddling at times. Be warned: this is certainly on the expensive side of scale, but it is not “overpriced”. You get what you pay for (and much more).

I had here among the best cocktails in my life. The owner and the bar tender are extremely talented and creative and spend their life trying to push the limits of what could be created by putting toghether the most raffinate, unusual and even debatable ingredients. The result is a great collection of stunning signature cocktails!

I guess Detroit does speakeasies very well! Bad Luck is where you turn yours around with well crafted cocktails both from the menu and upon request. Limited seating available, so get there early, you will lose track of time either due to the vibes, the booze, or both!

We went on Wednesday, All Night Happy Hour, where the drinks are $8. The bartender was really nice, funny and provided good service. This is such a chill place to hangout with friends to talk, laugh, play games and have some drinks. I want to go back when they have live music. Highly recommend!

The DJ was the best part. Tables are close and feels kinda small after a while. The drinks weren't too bad but definitely priced like a club. Running about $13-20 each. Service was slow but the music made the wait much easier. It was a taco and tequila party but getting tacos took forever. The waitress never came back to our booth (which was paid for) to take orders even though our table had a minimum. We went to the bar a few times.

I paid for a booth the night there was a DJ playing 90s music July 12th. First and foremost, the DJ was whack! He did not focus on 90s music and that would have been fine with me but his selections were pretty lame. He had some hitters, but then the next song would be a terrible option. The drinks took 20 minutes to come and it was not even packed in there. There were empty booths and people just leisurely coming and going. Once we received the drinks they were awful! They were not mixed well and I could not even finish them. Other people in my party also felt similar about their drinks. I actually had more people meeting me here for my birthday, but I told them not to come because it was so whack. I will not be back, which is unfortunate because I've heard so many good things about this place. With me having to pay for a booth AND a $200 drink minimum AND to have had such a terrible time! I feel like I should be reimbursed for the cost of the booth! I would appreciate it if someone in management could contact me.

Such an awesome place! We went here to watch a jazz band play. The overall atmosphere was soo cool. you would never know from the outside. The drinks were good as well. A little pricey but still good. Very hard to hear your friends over the music and to talk to the sever. They don’t serve food but they keep the drinks and water coming so that’s a plus. Overall, great place to check out!

Cool little spot with live music. Went in the winter time and I wish they had heaters outside on the patio. And they definitely could have used an extra hand at the bar. There is a cover charge $20 which I think is pretty expensive. There’s a bathroom attendant that you can buy snacks or toiletries from. Drinks are same price as any other bar I’d say.

The food is excellent the drinks are good and price very reasonable the music is always off the chain by famous DJs throughout the city of Detroit the outside indoor bar is stellar! It's great for rentals as well private parties or social events it is an excellent place in the city of Detroit we just love it!!

The Cass Tech Class of ‘79 held its 45th Reunion Ice Breaker here last night! The patio is the place to be! The staff was very courteous and the space welcomed all the partying and socializing we could handle. The vibe was wonderful! Beautiful back drop of the Downtown skyline and our great High School legacy. The food was catered so I can’t comment on their food. Had a great time and felt so secure! Just marvelous!

Saw mister Joshooa and company on Saturday. We had a great time, the sound was well-balanced and loud enough without being too loud. There were a lot of us dancing by the end of the night because the vinyl selection and set was phenomenal. From acid to disco the techno was liquid.

Always a pleasant evening of good music at the TV Lounge. Attracts a good crowd. Just watch where you park.

Walked in to a $20.00 cover charge and only 1 bar tender. Stood there for 20 minutes and couldn't even get 1 drink. Ended up leaving. Wasted $20.00. Do your research before attending this bar. So many other options! Definitely won't recommend this place to anyone.

It’s outside, it’s dancing, it’s great music, there’s are TVs and lounging - what more would you want? So come on out there if you want one or more of those things!! First time I visited the crowd was a great blend of middle aged and older young adults - everyone here was having a great time.

I used to visit this place frequently for the world’s best piano accompaniment karaoke, but my recent visit last weekend, when I brought an out-of-town friend, was disappointing. Although I have many fond memories, the service and atmosphere have noticeably declined since the staffing changes behind the bar, particularly since Wolf left. I hope things improve so it can reclaim the joyful, fun-loving vibe it once had.

Went here just before closing with some friends, was able to quickly get drinks at the bar then proceeded to the piano room. Very quickly the bartender tracks us down with my recipient and hands it to my female friends and says have him fix the tip. Left him a $4 tip for a quick two minute transaction. Everyone in our group felt bullied and it completely ruined the experience. Since he gave the receipt back, the bar proceeded to charge $15 instead of the $4 tip I had wrote down. I don't like to leave bad reviews but wanted the owner and manager to be aware of how this bartender is treating patrons.

Definitely was a wait for the Karaoke side even though we had a reservation. But once we were able to get seater the singing and energy of the room was great. Our servers were really great and can sing as well

We were there for less than 15 minutes. He made 3 drinks for us. $40. We tipped $5. This was in reflection of our interaction. As he saw the tip, he rolled his eyes, made a rude face and said “why would you tip this? Shouldn’t there be a 1 in front of this?” Implying he expected $15. My friend said “your demeanor and attitude wasn’t very welcoming” and we left after that. I’ve been a bartender and I’ve received some great tips and some not so great ones. I’ve NEVER asked a patron why they tipped me what they did. It was such a turn off to add to the already existing negativity. We were pretty regular customers for about 6 months (coming in like 1-2x a month). Wolf was a great bartender! He made my birthday last year so fun and enjoyable. We’d recommended this place to many of our friends and brought a lot of our friends here. Thats changed with our last visit. When we entered it was a moderately busy but not crazy/hectic night. I recognized who I believe to be the owner or manager working and asked if Wolf was still working there. This started our experience off on a bad note - as soon as I asked that he very curtly said “no he’s no longer working here”. I expressed my disappointment lightheartedly and moved on quickly. I asked if they had any egg white drinks and he acted like I asked for something so ridiculous and out of the question (it’s fairly common in my experience). We all independently noticed his rudeness but continued on to hopefully keep it positive. I started explaining the drink wolf always made us which was a spicy drink. Very rudely, he said “um?a margarita?” I explained it was not a margarita but I’m flexible if he can whip something up that’s spicy! I was just trying to be positive and enjoy one of our fav spots. Idk if you’ve ever felt this way at a bar, but it felt as if we were inconveniencing him by just ordering our drinks. He never cracked a smile and it was just so off from our usual experience. Wolf made you feel like he genuinely enjoyed making the drinks and getting creative. We did NOT get that this time. Soooo disappointing. I loved this place so much!

The bar tenders are rude and the drinks are subpar. Came in on a Saturday night with 2 friends and They charged me for my friend’s drink without asking. Then I asked if they could sweeten my drink because it tasted terrible and the bar tender asked for a tip when I in fact tipped them when paying for the drinks. What made it worse, he starts to make discriminatory jokes with the other bar tender in front of us. I took two sips of the drink and left because of the unwelcome staff. Never will recommend or come back.

Best to have your reservations before you get in. This place has a different vibe, if you are looking for peaceful evening to chit chat then this is not for you. If you are in mood for a speakeasy/karaoke joint to sing your heart out, give this place try.

Swanky addition to the downtown nightlife scene. We were only able to sit at the bar in the front room because a large group had just entered and filled the back karaoke room. We did walk through though and the piano player was impressive and it looked like everyone was having fun. The decor is lovely. Vintage but not kitschy. It's a little pricey but really nice. I would go back and try to get into the back room. I can't sing to save my life but it would be fun to watch.

Over priced drinks. They add an automatic gratuity on every drink, so make sure you’re aware of that before attending this club. I was tipping on top of the auto gratuity when Service was absolutely terrible. Takes an hour to get a drink when they’re not even that busy. Drinks taste horrible. Idk who they hire to make these drinks because it seems like these people know nothing about bartending. And after hearing how aggressive your security is especially towards WOMEN, I won’t be back. This is supposed to be a safe space for individuals especially women. Can’t even have a SAFE good here.

First and last time here. Expensive drinks and aggressive crowd ready to physically fight over nothing. My boyfriend and I were dancing having a good time when we had a group of 3 approach us aggressively. They threw drinks on us and started a fight because they didn’t like where we were standing. Security was quick to act and throw people out which was really appreciated. I won’t ever be back though.

Very nice place and atmosphere BUT, I was very disappointed that the ladies bathroom had NO SOAP but hand sanitizer in place of it! Unacceptable…. An establishment like this should not run out of hand soap. I can’t speak for others but I want to be able to wash my hands with SOAP after I’m done with my business…not HAND SANITIZER! Hopefully that never happens again.

Went to this place for an event and they actively broke the law. Stated in Michigan's Smoke-Free Indoor Air Law Public Act No. 188 of 2009, no one is allowed to smoke indoors if you serve food or drink. So why were people smoking in the venue? Not like vape CIGARETTES AND WEED. I asked security if they are aloud to smoke and they said yes. No windows open or anything like that so people with sensitivity or asthma suffered. Don't go here.

Had a couple drinks before the Lions game. Decent place to have a drink. You have to be good with loud music and a younger crowd. Didn't try the food ... Although I saw several people with bar food. Not sure what it is like on a normal night when the Lions are not playing. Not a ton of seating, we stood around the bar.

Really disappointed to write this review. Husband and I were excited to try this speakeasy, we came in and got our first 2 cocktails at the bar within 20 mins. Was able to move to an open table and ordered 2 shots and their catfish fritters. Waited over 40 mins or so just for our catfish and another 20 mins for the shots. $17 for about 6 small pieces of catfish, expressed how ridiculous the portion size was compared to the price bc they were very skimpy. The server was able to have the kitchen send out more, so we were grateful for that bc they were seasoned good. But would have been a complete ripoff. As we requested the bill, we already estimated what the total should be. And even assumed they would charge $15/shot plus tax on everything. So we thought we should be paying no more than $85 for our 2 cocktails ($16 + $17), catfish fritters ($17), 2 shots ($30), 6% tax and then a little wiggle room. To our surprise, the bill came to $139.86. Like how!? We expressed our concerns to the server, recalculated everything with her since the receipt was itemized and she stated she was waiting for the manager to come and she apologized. We appreciated her politeness but after waiting 15-20mins for the manager, we figured the they were never gonna come so we had to take that L. We can’t believe how slow the service was for both drinks and food. And how they overcharge without proper justification. It was just us 2. Their atmosphere was decent but definitely not worth going back.

Came here for a post dinner cocktail and had a great experience. We did come on the early side (8:30pm) but loved the vibe and the cocktails were unique and delicious. We also trialed the mocktails which was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend and will be returning !

Great space, cozy, real cool/chill. I used the Gold Door 🚪. Staff was amazing, tag teaming the bar situation....we did have a discussion about menu options(hopefully Management will follow-up). The small bites were very tasty, two thumbs 👍🏾 👍🏾up. Will definitely be back 🫶🏾🫡🙏🏾

Love this hidden Gem in downtown Detroit. The servers were extremely fun / helpful and very professional. Although they all were amazing one bartender really stood out and went above and beyond for my wife and I, his name was Chris and he was amazing, you can tell he's very passionate about his job and did a great job walking us through the menu and recommending some amazing drinks which made our experience even more enjoyable. The drinks were very creative and extremely flavorful. Love the entire vibe of this establishment and will definitely be back and recommend to all my friends / family.

Very nice speakeasy for a date night. Hidden entrance but knock and someone will open. Beautiful candlelit seating, the bar has a tree, drinks are very balanced and made super well. Must go!

This cute little gem deserves its flowers. Willow is a vibe. From the beginning of my experience Willow exceeded my expectations. The security team, hostess and bartenders were friendly, personable and vibrant. This quaint, speakeasy is perfect for a solo date, sneaky link 🤭🫣 or a girls date. The drinks are careful crafted and delicious. The pricing is a bit higher than I anticipated.

An absolutely stunning mansion that transports you back in time. It was unbelievably intricate, art in every corner. You will receive a complimentary historical tour when you eat dinner here. There was a live pianist during the entire dinner which was nice. The food was very homey, especially the pork osso bucco. The beef Wellington is a must try. We also ordered the seafood mix, which I would not recommend (it was boring and fishy). The service was unmatched. Very kind, tentative staff. They were all lovely.

4.33/5 Our experience at The Whitney was nearly perfect. Dining in has been a to-do item for so long and it was great to finally experience the timeless atmosphere on my husband's birthday. Aside from the elegance, the food was delicious. It's hard to pick a favorite dish considering everything had tremendous flavor, but the season's mushroom velouté soup was special. The chef should make it a regular item on the menu. It was also nice to hear live music - the pianist was super talented. The only downside is the place got really busy as we were finishing up so it took way too long to get the bill from our server. We didn't even bother with dessert because we just wanted to leave. However, I'd come back assuming the pace could be better since the birthday meal deal is unbeatable for the quality.

There was all the ingredients for a fine dining experience…. With the important exception of the food. We pulled up to the front door and had our car parked conveniently and quickly by the valet. The building is stunning on the inside and out and a perfect example of a lumber Baron’s home from the late 1800’s. We were seated in a beautiful room that was originally the bedroom of the lady of the manor. However, this went a little downhill from there. For the 1st course I ordered Lobster Bisque and it was served almost cold. They must have completed forgot to heat it up, so it could not have been recently made. I sent it back and the replacement bowl was hot. The taste was just average. Our server was very apologetic and handled it very professionally. My main course was pork shank and to my disappointment it was also cold, almost refrigerator temp. I had to tell the server to take it back and she was visibly embarrassed. I felt sorry for her, as I very rarely complain or send food back. But twice in one sitting at a restaurant with the reputation of the Whitney! There is definitely something amiss in the kitchen. The staff were great though - removed the pork entree from my check and gave all 4 of us a nice desert.

Hosted a bridal shower tea party in the library. Everything was so enjoyable from the first tour with Samantha ceaserz until the day we arrived. Our servers were absolutely amazing 😍 very attentive. I gave the food a 4 star only because everything was quite wasn't so popular with our guests....in specific the sandwiches. I gave service a 4 star because of valet....very pushy... However overall I enjoyed the experience and our guests were in awe of the beautiful mansion and afternoon tea. Highly recommend hosting any party there. Samantha was very enjoyable and easy to work with!

Stumbled upon this gorgeous place after visiting the Detroit Institute of Art. Walked in for a cocktail at The Ghost Bar and ended up having an unexpected and unforgettable experience in a National Landmark. We visited in a Sunday and happy hour was happening all afternoon, which was awesome. Also noted there was a historian on site to give free tours of the house. We did not take one but will on our next visit. Only giving four start because we have a flatbread that was just OK, but we heard food at the restaurant below is fabulous.

Incredible and historic beauty. You are blessed if you can enjoy just one meal here. The brunch buffet is huge, located in several rooms and on two floors. Highly recommend coming here for a special occasion. They have events and dining for all price points. Check out the ghost bar on the 3rd floor and definitely take the elevator. Even thif second floor bathroom is beautiful.

This is a beautiful Arena. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Very clean. I came to see Druski Security was on it. They made sure everyone was safe and sat in the right seats. I ordered food and it was hot and fresh. The bathrooms were also clean. The workers were constantly wiping everything down. I enjoyed myself,

Some of the prices are way too high. And we could only afford the nose bleed seats I am almost 70 and climbing those stairs I had to stop because I had that deputations palpitations, perhaps they could make it easier on seniors with disabilities, and adults with autism and mental disabilities.like myself Other than that it really was a wonderful experience didn't have to wait in long line breezed right on through. Some of the refreshments were too rich for my blood. Next time I will have to eat before I get there, .thank you for the experience.

Was able to purchase tickets that included the Comerica Players Club as an add on. Obviously what I paid was steep but it was worth the money. This is one of 3 or 4 club experiences offered for Redwings games. We had seats in sections behind RW bench with access to the coolest restaurant that can be visited pre game and until beginning of 3rd period. The food was amazing and prepared, served Ala cart. All you can eat. Had salad bar, cold cut cheese bar, Cocktail bar and deserts. All in an awesome restaurant pavilion type seating right under the sections where you watch the game. Kid friendly, top notch experience. Vip restrooms. Staff was top tier and we had a great time. RW locker room is next door so you see the players walk through between periods. So cool. I believe there are less financially taxing options with the other game experience add-ons available. Worth it though even if its just one time.

Great experience tonight! Clean venue with well informed ushers. Guest services were really kind and patience too. There are 2 employees I must highlight. 1. Sean who was very friendly when I had questions, also had good energy where you could tell he wants guests to have a fun time. 2. The woman (usher) at portal 8, section 112. She was very knowledgeable & even checked in with me on my way passing her. These little interactions make you feel like the staff cares. Well done LCA!

We had awesome seats for Linkin Park at this arena. Easy traffic in and out. Little wait for ticket scan entry, food, drinks or merch. Security presence so I felt safe but not stifling the good vibes. Show was utterly amazing. No complaints.

Had such a great time at the game. All the staff were extremely helpful, happy, and very nice. We chose to celebrate our 25th anniversary with the RedWings and we were definitely not disappointed. Cannot wait to do it again!

We stopped in on a Wednesday evening. Caught the 730pm piano residency. The location is a throwback to a different era. The food though is beyond good. Comfort food at its finest. The tenderloin and mushroom appetizer with the mushroom bisque will have you dreaming of these dishes for years to come. We also tried the oysters, maple glazed ribs, and Mac and cheese. Must try if you visit motor city.

Cliff Bell's is one of my favorite places on earth. Its one of those places you could walk into in formal wear or blue jeans. The vibes are always on point. They have live music every night. I've only went here with my daughter, but it would be an amazing place for a date. Very romantic vibes. The staff are all gorgeous people. Service can get slow when they get packed but they will let you know that. Its very a beautiful jazz club, very romantic, perfect place for live music and one of those places you can get fancy for!! We love it!!

This is my second time visiting this restaurant. I actually visited a second time just to support and friend who was performing that evening. The atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful! The service was great! However, just like my first visit im not a fan of their food. I did enjoy the spinach dip! I also ordered tenderloin bites with mushrooms. I probably had to bites of the tenderloin and was done! I didnt like how much inedible tissue or gristle they had! I had a not so good experience with the food on my first visit! I don't forsee me going back there except to support and performer. I would recommend you try it for yourself because the atmosphere and service is great! Laid back, easy service. All is done from your phone and scanning the QR code. Super easy to order and pay. Delicious brews and some fun ways to order (4oz) pours. Chicken shawarma and bean dip were top notch. Tons of picnic tables and a huge outdoor area.

The foods and beverages are good and the foods servers seems nice enough. But for a place that I have to place my own orders, get my own water, the tips starts at 20% to 30% ?? 🙄. Our 1 sausage sandwich was $15 and 6 pieces of chicken wings is $24 + tax and 30% tips!! WTH. No wonder Americans are poor, broke and can’t afford to go out much anymore.

As out of towners, we loved this dog friendly spot!! Huge patio. Hip interior. But the food… first, after bringing up we couldn’t see any food on the online ordering, they went in the back and refreshed the menu/app until it back on. Great people great beer great food and honestly some of the best cauliflower I’ve ever had in my life.

Local brewery offering outdoor and indoor dining. Food options include homemade chips and dips, smoked then fried wings, sandwiches and tacos. The wings were seasons and good with or without sauce. The smoked pulled chicken sandwich with Alabama white sauce was 10/10. The chips and dip were good and the butter bean warm dip was also good. This is a scan a QR code order everything from your phone and someone brings it to you. It’s not a typical service establishment. Overall, enjoyed the experience.

What a wonderful team, food, beer, cider! We are just so lucky to have had our daughters after wedding party here at Batch. Kimberly was a pleasure to work with during the planning and day of the event. Stephen came to meet us and was essential in making sure we had “Polish, double smoked kielbasa “ for the event. It should be on the menu full time! Everything was delicious and fresh. The Alabama white pulled chicken, pulled pork, pretzels, smoked meats charcuterie board, fresh fruit, double smoked Kielbasa ( so darn delicious) and the Kale Cesar salad.. all finished off by our Family and guests. Everyone loved the beer selection, the food and the vibe at Batch! We have always been supporters of Batch Brewery, now we feel like they are part of the Family. As always with Batch Brewery, just a wonderful , delicious experience! Thank you all for that.

This place has continued to innovate with brews and food, and the outdoor seating area continues to improve and expand to where it is now a gem and great for groups or events such as bar trivia.

First time in Detroit. Wonderful place. Low key. Nice vibe. Drinks were delicious and well-balanced. I personally liked the Milkmaid Dress. Rachel took great care of us considering the place was busy and she was the only bartender. She had awesome demeanor very sweet, huge smile on her face and kind personality even under the stress of a busy bar. Overall great experience.

Absolutely enjoyed our time here., we were just passing by and found this place. Wish they had locations in other states or at least ship their Bourbon. Loved their drink menu and their bottles, labels and design. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re near the area.

No food but we did the distillery tour and it had so much history, and booze packing into it. Such a fun time!

My friends and I went on the distillery tour and it was amazing. Seeing the process right there of how these local spirits are made and getting to be backstage of the artistry was a lot of fun. Also, you get some interesting facts about the prohibition era and our relationship to Canada during the time. The best liquor there we agree on as best: 6 Year Catcher Rye Citrus Gin (makes a fantastic gin and tonic summer drink-bought a bottle) The Japanese inspired Whiskey

Rachel is awesome. Very informative. Their Barrel Aged Old Fashion was unreal. You can tell love and passion was put in to every pour.

From the moment we walked into Two James, we knew we were in for something special. But what truly made our experience unforgettable was the incredible service from Tiffany, the bartender extraordinaire. We came here to celebrate my best friends wedding from the evening before, and Tiffany helped us keep the celebrations rolling. The drinks were outstanding and the service was even better.

Have been here a few times and everytime has been a nice experiance. The place is always clean when we come to visit and the service usually is quick, the workers are polite and it comes with its own unique style.You can also do some tastings and stuff and I believe they do tours I just never got the chance to do it. Usually when we come its just in passing for a drink or two but always well worth the stop.

I was seated in Jamie’s section and she personally went behind the bar and made my drink! Her service was beyond excellent! She was polite, attentive, and an exceptional bartender/server.

I pleasantly enjoyed my time at Bookies. The food was great and I had a very helpful server. I would recommend this place if traveling to the Downtown Detroit area. My server Leah was friendly and made the experience better than it already was. 10/10 would recommend. If you’re looking for a good dish I loved the nachos as well as the pulled pork !

Visited last week during a work event. The staff are incredibly friendly, the drinks were top notch and the food we tried was beyond excellent. The Irish Nachos were crispy and flavorful, and frankly beat the food at the next restaurant we stopped at. I'll make a point of returning when I'm next in Detroit.

We were pleasantly surprised to be seated so quickly and greeted by our server! Leah had such good energy and was so welcoming the entire time. She gave us a recommendation to try the pulled pork and it did not disappoint! It was very flavorful and tender not dry like some others. Great setting and a very clean environment.

Had great food and drinks here. The atmosphere was very nice, and I had phenomenal service from a very kind young man named Dan. He was very accommodating and quick with his service, while making good conversation and made me feel welcome. I will definitely be coming back here!

I give it a 4.5 out of 5! Bookies is thee place for great bar food and cold beer before a Tigers or Red Wings game. Leah was fantastic, very nice, personable, helpful and sweet. Every server and employee should be like her! The pulled pork sandwich was awesome but, just one head scratcher, chicken nachos without diced tomatoes or shredded lettuce? Could also use a few more chunks of chicken, otherwise Bookies is always our "go-to" bar before games or concerts. Thanks Leah, give that girl a raise!

Went here for my first time yesterday before the Detroit rolling pub picked my group up. I was greeted very rudely by the hostess (dark skinned African American woman with an hat and a crop top with a belly button ring) and rushed as I was finishing my phone call. I walked in and called someone from my group to see when they would arrive so I could grab us a table! I wasn’t even at the counter on my phone because I feel that’s rude but I was approached very rudely by the door and then rushed to get a table when there was literally only one other table there eating when I walked in. After we sat down, another large group walks in. I witness the same rude hostess rudely greeting the group and rudely telling them to leave their coolers outside the door! I even watched one lady from the group tell her friend how rude the hostess was. So this now told me, it was not me or the other lady patron, that this is a personality trait within the hostess herself! Thank god the waitress that came to our table was not this woman because I’ll tell you right now her tip would have IMMEDIATELY dropped down to 10% for the attitude. That also brings me to my next issue with the coolers. I understand how Law works, and I understand it is a law to not bring alcohol into a bar. However, this place being the meeting spot for the Detroit rolling pub, I feel that should have been clearly stated in the communications from the rolling pub and clearly communicated outside of bookies. Having the ghetto security guard yelling at people and telling them he will watch their things as I literally watch him holding a conversation in the restaurant not paying attention to anything outside is insane to me, especially when it was never communicated through the Detroit rolling pub communications. But anyways, I probably would go back because the food was great and give it one more shot, but they definitely need to reconsider who they hire as a hostess. Her job is solely to greet people, and she failed miserably at that. I also hope she never wants to become a waitress there one day because she will literally leave with nothing at the end of the night with that attitude. Find staff that cares to be a nice person at the job THEY CHOSE!

I’ve been here a handful of times and feel like the food isn’t always consistent. I don’t like the regular burger much, sometimes it’s too salty and sometimes it’s overcooked. However, I tried the black bean burger recently and it was very good!! Their French fries are also very yummy. Very cool scene if you like dark, more intimate bar settings. Service is good but not “in your face” kinda good. Locals go here a lot and you get that sense when you’re there.

Experienced racism! Not from the bar itself, but from the young Caucasian men in the bar. When my friend stood up and spoke up to them (several men), he was told he needed to leave. I felt bad to see this and wondered if this is what men of color have to deal with on the daily. Everyone wants to win, but don't change the rules mid-stream just because you are losing to an African-American. Play fair regardless of the others color!!!

I don’t drink anymore but I still like to come here and get a veggie burger and chill. It feels like the only place that has stayed pretty much the same for the past ten years or so, in a good way. I wish they still had the fried okra tho!

I love this bar, it’s really chill & can be fun with the right group of people. The burgers are gooooood, and the portions are large. They also have a pool table if you’re into that sort of thing. Definitely a spot I would go to anytime I’m in Detroit.

this place is reaaaaaaal special. You should start with ordering a sangria, then stepping out to the patio and enjoy the aire libre. Then go inside again and dance to some beautiful tunes, then go home and kiss your partner and kids in the forehead and there you go, a perfect day.

Funky. Fun and festive little wine bar. Outside space has music and plenty of seats in addition to space for dancing! Food trucks were out back the night I was there but not sure if they are always an option. MCW has been doing Detroit proud for over a decade! It’s a classy little spot but not expensive and not boogie! 🍷 I think my favorite thing was the outdoor patio with a DJ and dance floor!

MotorCity Wine is a rare gem! Great place for community engagement and an overall good time! Patio season is a special blend of fun and rhythm. The talent that comes through this space year round is something to behold. The wine selection is amazing and the staff are awesome! Food trucks frequent the parking lot for nourishment to keep the fun going!

We love the patio on Sundays, live music, good and reasonably priced wines and róse, and great vibe!

This place is magical. If you need to fill your energetic cup come here on a su day night and end/start your week off right. The staff is great at recommending wines depending on your mood and can introduce you to unique varietals. The owner's of this place are amazing! You feel like you at someone's house with the hospitality and the care and love that is put into everything. They have a to go bottle section as well with fantastic pricing, they don't mark up as high as other shops. Very very special place, a Detroit institution and gem. They often have food pop ups or you can order some cheese plates from the bar. Whether you are in the magical garden or inside under the disco ball you will definitely catch a vibe and want to move your body. Music is always on point!

An absolute gem in Detroit! Can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a chill evening of amazing, talented, local artists and good wine. Some people have been coming here for years and years and its obvious why. There's something very special about this place - and the people too! An absolute must for tourists and locals alike.

The service here was trash. I walked in and the bartenders looked at me, clearly saw me, then continued their conversation without any acknowledgment of a customer's presence. I figured they didn't want my money so I left immediately and went to a better place and had a much better time than I would have had here.

Good Brewery in the down town Detroit for a decent team hang out. Food is okay, not so great. Several games to enjoy. Service is okay, now attentive. But over all it’s a nice place to hangout.

I stopped for lunch today. Food was ok. Didn't try any of the beers. Staff was fun and friendly. Lots of games and things to do. There was a large group of families and the establishment was able to handle them well.

The next stop in the ever-expanding and soon to be inaccurately named "Metro Detroit Brewery Discovery Tour". #39 in SE MI, #48 in the state. Flights are usually a good place to sample beers at a new place, and I normally recommend them. Here they're a bit pricey, $12 for four 5oz samples. The full pours are $4 - $7 for a pint. That math says "just try one" to me. Since they serve food, and they open at noon, it seemed a great idea to combine that midday meal with a fermented beverage or two and chill for a few hours. Ordered my first brew and a Fish Sammy for my repast. Indoors is very industrial, no surprise given the area and its previous uses. Tons of room around the center bar. A huge skylight brightens the place up well. Outside seating is very relaxing. Lots of picnic tables, several umbrellas for the sun-averse. The waffle fries are terrific! Great outer crunch while tender inside. Sandwich was very good, too. At $12 it was the least expensive, not why I chose it, just adding info. The music, kind of alt-punk, is louder than I'd prefer. I'll take my second brew outside.

Yet another great craft beer place! We went there for dinner and the smash burger plus the (spicy) chicken sandwich did not disappoint. Great fries too! And the beers are also very good - lots of them on tap with a nice variety of IPAs, lagers and stouts, so everybody should find something they like. For me, it's the Cloud 19 IPA....

We had a great experience, although quick. This place is just a block from the bus stop, so we stopped on our way from the bus to the airport. Beer was great. Only bummer is the website is not updated to inform customers of the food situation. We were hoping for lunch for the kids. They did offer a nice charcuterie to go with a beer. My only suggestion would be offer a few more bar snacks, like even a grab and go mix and match type situation. Or, find some local dips and snacks to sell.

Full kitchen and a ton to do at this place. Been in a few times since the kitchen opened, but always after I've had food somewhere else, I'm planning a trip back just to try the food. I had a good brewery experience stopping by for a few hours before my friends arrived in Detroit. Bartender was super nice and gave me some recommendations. The beers were good (not great) but I really liked the Yumtown which was almost like a Shandy. I was a little letdown by the food. It’s probably a little my fault for getting the most boring thing on the menu but I needed something healthy. The black bean veggie bowl was almost entirely rice. Not much roasted veggies. Honestly I think it was basically steamed broccoli. For $16, it was a poor value and bland. Black beans and veggies aren’t even expensive. But all in all I would go back because the service was so good and the beers were solid. I just probably wouldn’t eat. There is so much space I could see it being an awesome place to spend a few hours with friends

Was hoping for better. I think that they are too busy for there own good. Casadeas and Philly both dry and good luck getting something wet. it was a game night but I would believe that they knew that before I had arrived. Wish I had taken food pics. Live and learn. FYI: Get seated for dine in because at the bar they wanted our stools to go standing room only. No plans to seat us elsewhere. I would pay a couple bucks more for better food. Best location in town.

Really enjoyed it. Folks were a bit sloppy drunk early on, but I'm not a drinker, so it's not my vibe. The staff was great, we enjoyed some food. The view is great, slightly difficult to take in and enjoy due to very messy obnoxious people.

Tin Roof was a lot of fun! Live music inside/ DJ outside and great service. The food was good and the drinks were strong. The Tigers were out of town and the place was still bumping.

I love this place and I’ve been coming here for years. But recently I came across a bartender who shorts people’s change, or charges you for what you didn’t ask for. On the second floor of tin roof this bar tender charged me $36 for 2 drinks and when I gave him $100 bill he gave me $34 as my change in return. I then asked him for a slice of an orange peel & he said no because I didn’t tip him. I then told him that my change was short and I needed a receipt. He gave me the receipt and never looked at me again. Or even came near me. Well thanks for tipping yourself an extra $30 and then asking me for a tip after. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BARTENDER

This place is attractive for its unique indoor and outdoor atmosphere that easily facilitates a social visit or grinding away on a personal computer. I tried their chai latte with ginger house syrup and found that it had a bit too much sugar and not enough flavor. Overall enjoyed my experience!

The Congregation reminded me of being on campus in Ann Arbor, but its in Detroit. They have an indoor area with a lot of people sitting around working on laptops and sipping coffee or tea. They also have a beautiful outdoor area too that looks like a small park (Pics included). I hear they have house music at times, but it was quiet during my visit. The food was ok. Had a decent turkey sandwich, but the menu is limited. You wont starve, but I wouldnt make a special trip just for the food. 14 dollars for a small turkey sandwich is a bit pricey. They could include chips with it or something but they dont. They also have a full bar. Overall it seems to depend on what day/time you show up that will dictate your experience. From quiet study time to a musical bar atmosphere.

Man this place really lived up to the hype for me. Really beautiful coffee shop. Free parking. I got here at around 845am on a Tuesday. A handful of people sitting around doing work and customers coming in and out constantly. I got my latte within a few minutes of coming in.

The matcha is perfect. and $5 the atmosphere is curated and made with love featuring several local businesses to snack on! the support community and support the landscape by planting peach trees and tomatoes and having a free community harvest share on site. its always a positive experience with anyone who works there love the cultural programing and intentional design to create community. and the house Thursdays are magic. I have also vended there with my small business and was really they went out of their way to support other local businesses. this place is a gem. check out any pop up market there for cool finds!

I live in the neighborhood and have always enjoyed going there, granted I wished they opened an hour earlier and I think that would make the work atmosphere so much better. Just went this last Sunday and the cashier told me they weren’t making anymore cocktails with 30 minutes left in the night, and the girl in front of me said “I was standing too close.” On top of it, just had friends tell me that they were supposed to have their wedding there and had all their details and plans made and it was just canceled on them this past week. I really enjoy this coffee shop and atmosphere but this past week has rubbed me the wrong way.

Nick was a great instructor. He guided our party, which was just the two of us. He was kind and really helped us improve our skills. We got better as we went along. The food was great at The Corner and the staff was awesome! Nick deserves a raise he did great!

My First time going to THE DETROIT AXE BAR in Ferndale on 9 Mile & Pavilion St. Just walking around checking out the Scenery. it seems to be a Cool place to be. I saw The Game Boards on the wall you can play while you socialize with your friends. I never played The AXE Game yet it's upstairs , I haven't tried the food but I heard it was pretty good. Went on a Wednesday evening and had a BLAST! Axe throwing as a first-timer was fun. The staff was extremely helpful in teaching us. This spot has a cool vibe. They have great food and tons of drink options. They have a wall of games! Honestly, the game selection was the best part. Never a dull moment here!

So, so, so much fun!!! Our instructor was amazing and made it very enjoyable. We were all novices and he was a great teacher. Stop by and throw a couple axes and don't forget to stop downstairs at The Corner and play some board games and/or bar bango which is the best!!

I liked the atmosphere. I think it's a great place to hang out and have some food. Aside from the axe throwing their are video games and board games. The selection of beer is ok. The liquor selection is a bit better. They have a few basic craft cocktails. The food was ok. The fireplace was a nice added touch

My organization brought about 300 folks from 6:30-10 to Barcade on a Thursday for fun food and drinks. The staff did an excellent job handling this capacity throughout the night. They kept the food coming and participants enjoyed the variety of small plates. They have an amazing selection of beers and their games are some of the greatest. I would do an event there again.

This place is awesome. I highly recommend coming here and playing some of the awesome retro arcade games. The drink selection is great and you can drink and play games. They got every retro arcade game you can think of from frogger to mortal Kombat to asteroids. They also have food so you can eat, drink, and play

We had such a great time here! The Bartender, Bao, was very friendly and personable! We enjoyed his company and his recommendations! My girlfriend and I split the short rib grilled cheese with au jus, and it was so damn good! Thanks for being great!

This place needs to be rinsed off or the staff to just go and wipe things down. Tables were damn dirty.. one of the staff members bald head dude no eyebrows was rude for no reason. Only go for the games ...food was decent if you have a nice buzz.

At 3 tokens (75c) per pinball machine, this is a must stop for pinball fans. It was my first time playing a spooky pinball machine (Alice cooper's nightmare Castle), and they have a fine selection of staple games.

The games seem to be kept up reasonably well and are not ridiculously expensive to play, unlike some of the big name places. They have a reasonable variety of food and drinks at what I would consider to be average prices. The place is generally pretty clean overall and the bartenders and servers are friendly. Overall, worth stopping by to check out.

Visited in the summertime, had my adult children with me, and they enjoyed the place as well. Lots of games, a few weren’t working well (but show me an arcade where everything is working and I’m 100% sure it would be EMPTY) but most were marked as such. No free-play here, so although you don’t need cash (they have an ATM but really you can use your credit card at the bar to get tokens) make sure you have some money to access if you want to play the games. I was driving so all I had was diet soda, and I didn’t eat so I can’t really rate the drinks, so don’t count that as a downcheck. Atmosphere and vibe is relentlessly positive (as, by-and-large, is the city it’s in) and welcoming. You’ll love this place. As to the games? Lots of variety, including a healthy collection of “greatest hits” pinball and video games, you won’t be wanting here. Some are exclusively in Japanese, so more power to you if you can translate but I doubt it’s necessary. Can’t speak to parking: we Uber’d.

Café D’Mongo’s is one of Detroit’s true treasures. After a long night out, nothing hits like their grilled cheese—it’s legendary. The vibe is unlike anywhere else: live music from one of the most classic house bands in the city, drinks poured in solo cups, and the energy of a house party but set right in the heart of downtown. No frills, all character. Come for the music, stay for the grilled cheese, and leave with a story. 4/5 stars because the N/A options are water and sprite only, and not very wheelchair friendly

I had an amazing time at Cafe d’Mongo and can't recommend it enough! The atmosphere was electric thanks to the incredible live band—they brought so much energy and made the whole night feel special. The service was top-notch from the moment I walked in. Staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy making sure everyone was having a great time. But what really blew me away was their honesty and integrity. I accidentally left my wallet behind, and not only was it found—they personally made sure it was returned to me, fully intact. That kind of care and character is rare and deeply appreciated. If you're looking for a spot with great vibes, live music, and people you can trust, Cafe d’Mongo is it. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Kiesling is a cool little bar with a nice patio and chic interior. I had some well-priced beers and hung out for a while. It was quite lively, but the service was good. The bar was loud but still very easy to talk to. The lighting is quite dark. out front, they had a food truck posted up with fantastic food.

This is perhaps my favorite bar in Detroit. Cocktails are good. Atmosphere is excellent. Staff has the right balance of professionalism and fun. Prices are not ridiculous. I love the outdoor patio in the back with the fireplace that is PERFECT for fall. It is a bit of a hipster bar, but it balances those tendencies well with a touch of genuine class. It's a great grab a drink after work kind of place AND a nice spot for cocktails on the weekend. They sometimes have a food truck out front but generally don't serve food.

Very upset. Used to be our favorite cocktail bar in town. There was a recent change in ownership and although the new bartenders are nice, the menu lacks the creativity and balance and craftsmanship that we would specifically come here for. The menu now seems more like what you would find at a college bar (cocktails with Bacardi, patron, jager, skyy vodka).

Bummed, there seems to have been a change in ownership and you can tell by the menu and service. The challenging and subtle cocktails are gone. I heard the old staff left en masse, it seems that a lot of the place's inspiration left with them. One extra star because the atmosphere is still pretty cool, but even that seems like it's fallen off somehow. Loved this place for years! Always a great seasonal menu with blend of innovative cocktails and classics. Fun retro decor and multiple seating options. Watch out for their pop ups with a local taco truck - always a good combo.

I'm so sad to loose the amazing cocktails at Kiesling bar. It has been one of my favorite spots since they opened. The new ownership is not living up to the craft cocktail magic that once graced the glasses. I was so disappointed last time I went in, I didn't even order and just shared a drink with my friend, then moved on. It feels like a real death to the Detroit craft cocktail scene. The new menu featured ingredients like Skky Vodka, Bacardi, Gordon's Gin, Patron, Jägermeister, Midori, and grenadine. It's like they can't find an identity between an early oughts night club - or high end sports bar in the sticks. Prices are the same despite way lower shelf liquor. The menu is overcrowded with thoughtless options. It was dead on a Saturday evening, usually a time the bar is humming with activity. I had come to accept that new Detroit found this hidden gem years ago, and kept going for the amazingly creative drinks. I guess all good things must come to an end... or so I'm going to tell myself as I mourn one of my favorite spots being transformed into a shell of what I once knew.

Solid vibe at this spot and perfect if you want to get out and dance. Love how they have a section with all the vinyl albums. The drinks were creative and tasteful. Love how this place so many different people together and to see all the different styles and fashion is a vibe.

Another lovely spot in Detroit, the way the light hits this space is precious, such a nice soundsytem and plenty of room to dance, patio is really nice too, I would spend the whole day here zipping on some maracuya slushies while enjoying soulful house

We dropped by randomly from out of state. Came during one of the Concert of Colors segments held there. Really impressed by the performance. The vibes afterwards were really great. The decor and graffiti were cool. Neat outdoor seating that’s sheltered - basically an old storage area turned to cozy seating.

One of my favorite spots Start the night to late nights& lazy days. The bartenders are amazing. They have mescal, and the best music and space for dancing. It checks my boxes. The elements are represented. Dancing here is like being in a warehouse that met a speakeasy living room with some vinyl crates of sounds you had no idea you would need. Its like you get in an Art Gallery run to cotemplate some beauty whilest raging. Evolved rage. Daytime they have some of the best coffee to be found in our little neighborhood. The Spotlite is an east side TREASURE!

Last evening we had an epic time at Spot Lite! It was a surprise party for a good friend turning 60! The owner Roula & GM Jessica were the best. Without their focus and professionalism the event would not have been a success. While I’m sure I was a pain for them, they handled a 1st time party thrower with kid gloves and made me feel special. Every detail on their end was handled as discussed with a high level of professionalism! Security while not needed were also professional! My hats off to Brandon and the team behind the bar! Best event space ever…. Is what the guest talked about! I highly recommend this team and this venue! You will not be disappointed!

The DJ was amazing the house music was off the chain the drinks were gracious and the people were so much fun. They ID everybody that comes in it's upstairs downstairs setting small and quaint very nice. Last night was rainbow night and it was so much fun though I'm not rainbow 🌈 my friend who is also not rainbow and I had a great time in the music was off the chain!!

Atmosphere stars off the chart. This is the most vivacious place I’ve ever experienced for a Saturday morning coffee chat. They have a few cool places to sit and a great bathroom while we’re at it.

This is a neat space with a unique atmosphere. The floor level is calm and great for a first drink and the basement is enjoyable if you are in the mood to dance! I would recommend for people who are looking for a bit of both!

😍This place is so cool. Loved the decor and that the bar tender/barista let us walk around and check it out even though we might have walked in before open. The coffee was fine, but the atmosphere made it a hit for me. I think the drinks is where they shine.

I had the great honour and joy of DJing at SPKRBOX (upstairs) on a Saturday night and had a blast. I visited a few times during my stay, for an afternoon coffee, and for my gig. The coffee, tea, zero proof and beer/wine/cocktail selection is unique and high quality. The team is absolutely amazing - BIG shout out to Charles, Ashley, Steven and Josh for the hospitality and support - appreciate you all! The crowd is diverse and the place is bustling day and night with a solid ebb and flow. Loved seeing guests dance, enjoyed many fun conversations with patrons and watching people walk along Grand River, and within the bar from my booth view. As a DJ, I have traveled to play several different cities outside of my home over the last five years and this experience stood out as one of my best out-of-town gigs yet. Feeling blessed and grateful. Will be back soon!

One of the best espresso martini’s in Detroit. I’ve only ever come here for their alcoholic drinks, but I’ve heard their regular coffee/lattes are amazing. Bartenders are always super friendly and quick. Not a lot of seating inside and can really fill up as the night goes on, I recommend getting here earlier in the night. Almost all of the drinks are coffe/espresso, but always very good.

They do not have food here. There is just coffee and booze. Great place to hangout or go on a coffee date. The music was not my vibe. It’s house music and not the kind that you want to listen to. Just a lot of noise. I left and went across the street to Parlay Detroit.

recently made a short visit to Castalia and was thoroughly impressed. The drink I had was excellent, crafted with care and full of flavor. The atmosphere was welcoming, making it a perfect spot to relax. I couldn’t resist buying a travel-size perfume sampler, which was a delightful addition to my experience. I’m definitely looking forward to returning and exploring more of their menu.

Drinks are solid. But sitting down here feels like drinking from a water hose. You’re literally bombarded with information. Smell has a big impact on taste, got it. We would have loved that message in drips. It’s a good spot. It’d be a great spot if the attention was left on the drink program - as opposed to the performance atmosphere. Wait times become pretty impactful as the place fills up. Wasn’t a problem in our case. But worth keeping in mind if managing reservations/time.

My partner and I stopped in for the first time tonight. The ambiance, service, and beverages were incredible. I especially appreciate how thoughtful they are about their mocktails; the Lorca’s Child was one of the best alcohol-free beverages I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to come back🙂

Been wanting to visit Castalia at Sfumato for 3 years and finally go the chance to! While reservations are recommended, we were lucky enough that there was a table of 4 inside that were leaving right when we walked up. Service is AWESOME! The cocktails are one of a kind. The fragrances are completely unique. Pro tip: make a reservation for their tasting menu, where you will be able to sample all 8 of their cocktails! Pro tip #2: get the candied nuts! You will NOT be disappointed. We are definitely coming back to do the tasting menu!

This place is THE COOLEST! You will have a completely unique experience and your taste buds will love it too! The owner came over and showed us a picture of the before and after of the demo to make this underground bar. There's still a rock sticking out of the wall that they kept! It really is such an amazing concept and is so well done!

We loved our treating experience and the concept of the fragrance with cocktails. I genuinely appreciate the crafting of the cocktails and the order in which they were presented. I didn't love or hate any of the cocktails. They were a bit on the sweet side. I would totally return to the fragrance store to check that out. I especially love how they transformed the space. They have an alcohol free tasting menu too!

What an amazing experience we had! The bartenders and servers are so nice and knowledgeable, and the cocktails with their scent pairings taste amazing and is so unique. Highly recommend

Loved experiencing a baseball game here. Lots of restaurants and things to see around the park and less than a 10 minute drive to the tunnel if you're coming from Canada. The park itself had so many neat features from the noteworthy tiger statues to the carousel right in the middle of the food court. Seats were great and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be coming back for a ball game here.

Tigers game!! Comerica Park is a great place to take in a baseball game with something for everyone. There is a carousel and Ferris wheel for kids and those young at heart. There are plenty of bars for the over 21 crowd. It is an airy stadium that managed to stay cool in the shade despite a very warm Detroit day. Sight lines are great from every seat. They have a newer type of netting for fan protection that is more transparent and less obstructive of viewing the game. 100% recommend!

I have been to a few Tigers games and man I love this field! There is not a bad seat in the house and the food and drinks along with the little stores inside are so good! If you get a seat on the higher stands the bathrooms aren’t bad to get in and out of either! Overall and amazing time.

1st time attendee at Comerica and loved it. Nice environment. Liked the carnival smells everywhere as well as a tiger carousel and baseball mini-Ferris wheel. Nice displays honoring Decades of Tigers. Loved, absolutely loved the layout on the main concourse where you can see the field while standing in line for (fill in the blank).

First time here and it was great. We took stadium tour which was very informative and a great chance to view park before crowds. Like the fact that most concessions look out at field so you can still see action. All staff were friendly came in contact with were helpful. Seats in section 119 had great view.

Nothing beats watching the Tigers on their home field. Beautiful stadium. Great seats. Still have the organ music. Sunshine with summer temps in September. Wish those boys would win.

One of the coolest theatres you'll ever go to. Amazing sound and sightlines from anywhere in the venue. We just saw Earth, Wind & Fire there on the weekend and it was awesome! I hope to be back for another show soon. 10/10.

Wife and I saw the red clay Strays there last week. I've seen about 200 + concerts in my life. In venues across a dozen states and I have to say this is the best concert venue I've ever been to. Absolutely amazing, 5 stars, we highly recommend it.

Glad my father dragged me here to see this relic. The ornate architecture and sculptures alone are worth going for. I am glad the city put so much time and effort into preserving this and is still doing work.

If you've never been, add it to your list of places to go! The opulence of the Fox Theatre is a sight to behold. Truly a gem for Michigan!

Great venue but our seats were terrible. I know they said there would be an obstruction but I never imagined it would be lit up with super bright led strips. It took away from the entire experience. I don't know why they could have curtains around the equipment. Definitely won't be sitting in this area for future shows.

Beautiful accessible relaxing ! This view is from what I think used to be the beach bar/ restaurant. It’s a great place to sit. The food options are limited but we had a delicious plate of pulled pork nachos(fake cheese but so good) and a salad with all kinds of good stuff in it- can’t remember the name- it’s a little pricey for the quality of food and service but you could sit there all day and just look out the window and enjoy! so it’s kind of worth it. We enjoyed our time there.

Love this place whatever the time of year. The maintenance crew is awesome, the space is ever changing throughout the year to compliment the seasons. It’s a great place for people watching, taking a break from work or hanging out on a date, with friends or family…whatever the occasion. Centered around restaurants, food trucks and bars. It’s a very beautiful and welcoming outdoor space that I frequent a lot when coming downtown.

Beautiful place. Downtown is decorated nicely and there are a lot of photo ops if that's your thing. We ate at JoJo's while we were down there so I can't comment on the food truck options, but we did see them. Not too crowded on a Sunday evening which was nice. We will be returning in the future

What an absolute culinary delight! I suggest making reservations ahead of time because this is a very popular spot. The ambiance was very modern and romantic but also a place you can take the family. The service was outstanding...they gave us a great insight over the menu and made some amazing recommendations. They have several drink selections and they are fun and flavorful. The food was amazing and seasoned to perfection...highly recommend the short rib and snapper! We will be back again to try and burger...we here they are incredible...they do not begin serving food until 5pm, just an FYI. Recommend this spot to anyone in the area.

We had a very good dinner at Grey Ghost on our recent Detroit weekend getaway. We had the chef's tasting menu with the beverage pairing and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was lively and the service excellent.

Grey Ghost is the type of restaurant you enjoy just being present in. I've dined at the bar, the dining room, and the veranda, and don't have a preference. The burger here is easily one of the best locally, and in general, I've had. The menu rotates frequently, but the burger is a mainstay. French fries are also a mainstay, however, the flavor of them changes every so often. The cannelloni alfredo is another delicious dish but, at the time of writing this review, is no longer on the menu. For the vibes and burger alone, Grey Ghost will always be one of my favorites. I will say, it is on the pricier side. However, the quality and experience you receive is worth it.

Went here tonight with my dad, did the tasting menu. Started the course with a complimentary champagne that the wonderful and exceedingly nice Jenna brought us. We left stuffed and happy. The food was all impeccable and the drinks matched the food perfectly. Will definitely be returning!

The atmosphere and service were incredible. We had Bri as our server and she took very good care of us. The food was just okay to me which was a little disappointing. For the money you spend, you don't get a lot and the little food is just so-so. I parked in the lot adjacent to the restaurant. It was $30 for 2 hours and $40 for the night. I found that to be reasonable so I paid the $40 and walked to the Fox. I would recommend trying it at least once. Unfortunately, I will not return. Sorry.

Been trying to go here for a while and finally went. Had reservation at 9:15 and wasn't seated until 9:45. Sat outside on the covered veranda. Our waitress was okay, but the wait for our food and drinks was quite long. I really want to give a four star but the food was AMAZING!! I was so surprised how much I loved their white Fish fritter. Dry aged steak was cooked perfectly. And hollow Crown? More like, Drink so nice, I ordered it twice. Definitely going back. Maybe on a week day..

Amazing mixology and cocktails, superior food! We had the scallops, shrimp, and masa gnocchi... delish! Great atmosphere... Harry is an outstanding bartender and true craftsman!

This place is amazing! From the outside it looks like something you're not expecting. Once you walk in your transported to a new and totally different vibe. The food is amazing and the only thing more amazing is the staff. Be warned there is an automatic 20% gratuity charged to everybody regardless of party size. When stores add automatic gratuity to small parties I typically give one star because the staff isn't motivated. I will say however at the staff here absolutely earned more than 20% with their super friendliness, attentivness and amazing food!

Me and my gf had the tasting menu and hands down taste wise one of the best experiences from a restaurant I’ve ever had. Every taste besides the fish and short rib was a taste I’ve never experienced or had before. The spices in the food were amazing. I will say for the first 3 courses the spices were a little on the hotter side but that was a good thing. The greens on all the courses were so good and fresh. Like I don’t like cabbage at all but the cabbage they served actually was solid and I hate cabbage. The appetizer and desert were so good. Will definitely come again in future. The price is a bit much but I would say worth it.(FYI they do automatically add the 20% tip)

Wonderful atmosphere, great service; food flavorful with an array of delicious flavors. We chose the tomato salad which was super fresh, and the coconut curry noodles and chicken and the bread a must have! I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO MUSIC IN MY VIDEO!

Took my brother for his bday from a recommendation from a friend. Place is dimly lit inside with a club vibe to it. The kitchen literally looked like a Hells Kitchen TV and was extremely organized and clean. Our waiter was great with introducing us to the menu with recommendations. We didn't end up ordering any appetizers but we did order 4 Entrées. We order the Phat Krapao which had a kick to the throat so we got milk tea and sticky rice to help cool it down. We'll flavored and added the roti with it. We also ordered the Lamb Sausage which was very herby and a tad dry but very fresh. We also had the Gai Golae. Chicken was cooked perfectly but I just wanted the skin to be flamed a tad more for the crispy texture. Very light and refreshing. The star here is definitely the Crispy Fried Ribs. This place literally nailed that and gave you a mouth full of flavor with that bite. 10/10. Best ribs I've had and using the lemon basil and apple salad on top is pure genius. That flavor combo made us want to order the dish 3x more. We are definitely coming back. For dessert my brother got a coconut mango ice cream which shockingly was exceptional. We will be coming back. Job well done and our waiter was great too!

This is such a cool spot, feels like a secret being in there. The vibes were awesome and the meal was very unique. We did the chefs tasting menu. I’ll say that some of the dishes were not well balanced, overly sour or overly spicy. But overall everything was very good. I think next time I would just order off the menu. The ice cream was the best !!

Drove up from Columbus to try out this restaurant. My mother is not an adventurous eater and she would not stop raving about our meal. Definitely try the Thai milk tea and crispy fish!! Can’t wait to visit again, this was a fantastic meal and experience

Rich coconut curry broth layered with flavor, topped with crispy noodles for texture, with lime and herbs to brighten everything up. Comforting and bold in every bite. 🥩 Crispy Spare Ribs with Watermelon Salad: Easily one of the standouts. The ribs are crispy outside, tender inside, with a sticky glaze that’s full of flavor. Paired with chilled watermelon cubes and herbs, it’s the perfect contrast of smoky + fresh. 🌆 Atmosphere: TAKOI is more than just dinner — the neon lighting, music, and energy of the room make it a complete experience. Spent $80 on 3 meals no drinks for carry out. Waited over 40 min. Chicken was seasoned ok but coulda been cooked crispier. Pieces were soggy. Mac & cheese shouldnt even be called that. Literally taste like noodles absolutely no taste no seasoning no cheese smh. Mash & gravy had big thick pieces of skin & not mashed well. Turkey chops super small and were cold. Insane that yall are charging so much for very lil portions and its not even good. Dont know what happened here but the food and prices used to be decent, i only went tonight trying to give one more chance & i think our family is officially done with bakers. Terrible! Save yourself a trip & Take your money elsewhere!

We arrived at 4:30 as the time on the website says they open at 4 pm. We were told the kitchen would not open until 5:15 pm. so we got a drink and said we would wait. We asked for a topshelf long island and topshelf margarita. We could tell she was not the bartender based on how she was making the drinks and having previous experience as a bartender. There were also little bugs flying around as if the counter had not been cleaned off last night before they left. We asked if could sit at a table while we waited for the kitchen to open. She said yes and we listened to the young lady on her personal call from the time we entered the building. She never came to table to check on us or anything. We asked if we could have a menu when we finally could get her attention at 5:38. At this point she bought over two glasses of water and no menu. A couple came in around 5:45, they sat themselves and the young girl immediately came over with menus. At this point I was very annoyed. Another young man finally came out the kitchen I asked him if we could have a menu as we had been there since 4:30. He immediately brought over the menu. I don't know if he said something to her or she was finally listening, but she decided to come over and check me with her attitude, and told me that she not the waitress and proceeded to tell me that we didn't tell her we were eating and more stuff with her very unprofessional and attituded self. At this point more staff was starting to come in. We placed the order, got the food which was good, although they put your side items in small bowls which would be equivalent to around 3 tablespoons. To add insult to injury this place now has the tip added into your bill. So you are going to tip regardless of the service. So for 2 meals and 2 drinks I spent $100.00 which I would gladly paid some place else with better service.

I was excited to celebrate my birthday at Baker’s Keyboard Lounge—a true Detroit staple—and especially looking forward to the Latin band that was scheduled to play. My sisters took me, and we were genuinely excited for a great night. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the expectations. The bar area was dirty, and there were gnats flying around everywhere. It completely ruined the atmosphere. The slow service gave me just enough time to leave without ordering. The longer we waited the more unclean things I noticed. We were so turned off that we left before even trying the food, so I can’t speak to how it tasted. It’s really disappointing because Baker’s has such a rich history, and I wanted to enjoy and support it. I hope management takes steps to address the cleanliness—it deserves better.

$25 cover although website says $15. Waitstaff was friendly & courteous but unorganized. Some people in our party never got their food. We had to help the waitress charge us properly. Tip was automatically on the bill at 17% but the service / delivery of food was sketchy. HOWEVER ... I left my credit card up their by mistake. My waitress had turned it in to main bartender, recognized me when I came back for it & I (gladly) had to show ID to get it back. This almost made up for the other issues. But I was embarrassed by the other issues because several couples came out to celebrated my husband's 74th birthday at a historic black owned establishment but received sketchy service & false advertisement regarding door charge. Then roll up the door charge into your bill, so you pay a percentage of it in taxes & gratuity. Not cool.

I was looking forward to trying this place out for more than a drink, but having read all of the NUMEROUS ACTUAL 1 and 2 star REVIEWS of disappointed people in the last 6 months, (actual reviews take the time to write a couple paragraphs of explanation), and the ODDLY disgusting food pics of what looks like thrown together and soulless cuisine, i wouldn't step near it. Which based on the decades ago great reputation, is obviously a sad lack of proper management and care. You could excuse a few 'off nights' but those seem more to be the norm here. And since the owners don't bother to address ANY of the complaints, or apologize, you just know that they don't care. Too bad.

Visited this place to celebrate a friend's birthday and the service was absolutely HORRIBLE! First of all there is a $25 per person cover charge that starts at 8pm. #2 - they charge $10 for parking #3 after waiting for over an hour for my food I canceled my order because it was obvious that they didn't want me to eat. However, when a large group arrived AFTER me, somehow they received their food promptly. THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE and until they make changes I won't be spending my money here anymore.

My husband ans I have loved going to Baker's for years. However, this visit was absolutely horrible. There was a $30 cover charge before 6 pm--when I called I was told $20 before 7 pm. We opted for the bar and carryout. Service was non existent--we had to ask for someone to take our order as the barmaid appeared too preoccupied with herself to notice eight people sitting in front of her--waiting. Our order was not right. The catfish was rubbery, mac n cheese had no taste and was dry. Black eyed peas were soupy, Yams were brownish with bland flavor, almost couldn't find those teenie 2 pieces of meat loaf and I could go on. I won't Ever go back. Horrible food, service and experience.

I went to Lager house to see New Constellations play. It was my first time going there. It is a great neighborhood spot, and people there were very friendly. I couldn't say if they served food or not, since I was there for a show. But overall, I great spot to hang out, have a cold drink and see a good show.

Arrive very early if attending a sold out show, unless you want to watch it from a low-quality, delayed projector screen in the next room over. Such a disappointing experience after my wife and I traveled 3+ hours to see an artist we really enjoy. The singular bartender did a great job considering the crowd.

A jewel of the Detroit entertainment scene.Any given night you'll see top notch bands from all over and many different genres as well.Fantastic beer selections from local,regional and national producers. I haven't ate here yet but the food coming out of the kitchen looks and smells great. The front yard is taking shape nicely as it's a recent addition and given a nice view of bustling Corktown. Lots of parking,resonable drink prices, and super music. What more could you ask for? Had to update this as I've finally ate a meal there.Had the Shroomer burger and fries. Easily one of the best bar burgers I've ever had. It's a smash style patty,this has two of them layered with cheese and mushrooms. Cooked to juicy, outdoor grill like flavored perfection. The fries were stellar too. Loved it

So... I never knew about this place for brunch. Wow, one of the better brunches I've had period. We had the shrimp and grits and the vegan biscuits and gravy. To sum our meal up...as the kids would say...it slapped!! It was so damn good. The shrimp and grits came with two polenta cakes. Then smother in a creamy sauce, and topped with a pile of shrimp and bacon. You can't go wrong! The shrimp had a Cajun seasoning on them that tasted great with the cream sauce. The grilled toast points were a perfect addition to soak up some of the sauce. I only sampled some of the vegan biscuits and gravy. From what I tasted the gravy was rich and flavorful. The tofu scramble was seasoned well and it had a nice mix of peppers and onions it tasted pretty good. Overall I highly recommend this place for bunch.

Decided to have brunch...we ordered shrimp and grits, korean BBQ corned beef hash, french toast and the vegan biscuits and gravy. The grit cake was really delicious and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The korean bbq was very tasty...the meat was tender and flavorful. French Toast was good but nothing special. Ask for the Whiskey Maple wing sauce to rat with em instead of the plain maple syrup The vegan biscuits and gravy were so sage-y and savory. We had 2 orders of grits and 3 alcoholic drinks and 3 sides of bacon for $108 without the tip. Lotsa food and great atmosphere.... Oh and if you are a hotsauce person...they serve 2 dogs hot sauce....loved em all..didnt try the super hot one though.

Only complaint and it is very small. They only had 1 bartender for the night, and she had a ton of people to help. She did a great job, but it was tough getting service. Otherwise, everything was great! Food was really good and the show was solid! Under the Rug, Basic Printer, and Odd City were all fantastic. Great place for a small show!

SG Lewis put on a phenomenal show! The crowd started filling in more and more and the show only got better from opener to the main performance. The venue is a lot of fun and is very laid back! Beyond that, the ventilation is solid and it didnt get overly warm even with everybody dancing and being closer together.

Seen Fitz and the Tantrums last weekend And we had a blast!! Nice venue didn't have to wait to get in or inside. Bathrooms are small but keep up on. I'd go bad for sure

Amazing service from Miss Dianna who was able to provide everything needed for my disabled mother to see the concert she was living to see. She went above and beyond to make sure the start of our evening was smooth and we got to our seats without any issues. Amazing show but thanks to her our evening went without any issues.

I'm getting too old (37) to be going to standing only shows, but at least the floors at The Majestic are really comfortable! Great bar, great staff and a really nice venue!

I've been coming to the Majestic complex for 30 years and it always delivers. Over the last 15 or so years they e been actively changing things and working to make it better. The theater itself is great, good sound, easy access, and a good time all around. Only complaint is beer prices were higher than I expected, but that's how it is everywhere and not a necessity when I'm going to see a show. Will be back every chance I get!

Fantastic experience, great decor and atmosphere- however Disabled seating did not have a ramp and was up a set of stairs, making it quite impossible for wheelchair users to actually be accommodated. There is however a ramp up to the main floor. I was very hesitant to bring this up, I don't think it's done out of malice but is definitely a factor that needs to be addressed.
