Wine bar
The Farmer's Daughter is a quaint cheese shop in Sidney, with a great selection of flights and an incredibly well curated wine bar that actually knows and understands wine. The patio space is also nice, and the cheese platters are a must-try.
Classic! Very friendly staff , Tessa, and excellent service, Alex! Food is exceptional. The mac and cheese and the French onion soup are classic! The tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich is awesome! Have a BC wine flight, it's so good, and local! Highly recommended.
TravelSpirit M — Google review
A cute location with a quaint atmosphere. Our server was welcoming and displayed genuine knowledge and interest in the wine and cheeses we were presented. Beautiful wife and I shared a wine and cheese flight along with a grilled cheese sandwich. The sandwich tasted amazing - we loved it. It was a unique experience. Why 4 stars? Manage your expectations if you arrive with an empty stomach. Portions are small. Be prepared for a pricey meal if you intend on filling your belly.
Steve K — Google review
Really nice place for a glass of wine or a flite of 3. We enjoyed a nice cheese player and some delicious wines. Price is the upper end of reasonable but not over-priced as far as wine prices. Delicious cheese and a beautiful setting on the patio. It took longer then we like to get any wine or our snacks but it wasn't a problem as we were relaxing and in no rush. Service was nice with a smile.
Dave J — Google review
I wish we had more places like this in BC! The atmosphere, food and wine they provide is amazing! Very European, they also have a small store with great European selections. Have to travel from Vancouver for this place again.
Natali N — Google review
Everytime we get to sidney we go here! Love their flights of wine and although their menu is not large, what they make is fabulous! Great charcuterie. Our friends Dea and Phyllis introduced us and we go with them often! Not a ton of seating so a reservation and or get your name on a list like we did and do a little shopping while you wait, they will text you when there is a table for you! Highly recommended!! Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and you can purchase some fabulous cheeses and bottled wine to take home with you!
Sandra S — Google review
Probably the BEST grilled cheese and tomato soup I’ve ever had. The capers grilled cheese is to die for and dipped in the soup it is delicious! We also had the almonds as olives for an appetizer. So good and highly recommend!
Miranda R — Google review
The Farmer’s Daughter ‘stands above the crowd’ in restaurant experience. The food is exceptional, in flavour, portion size, and gourmet fare-try the Mac and cheese, you won’t be disappointed. The service is top notch-going above and beyond in accommodating customer requests. The music, unlike many restaurants was classy and at a decibel level whereby we didn’t have to use our phones or yell to converse! It was a special celebration with family travelling in for an annual get together, and The Farmer’s Daughter impressed us all. Thank you BC

Gluten-free restaurant
Fish on Fifth is a charming, nautically themed eatery located in Sidney that has been a local favorite for over twenty years. This family-owned restaurant offers classic British fare such as fish 'n' chips and clam chowder, along with an extensive menu featuring burgers, wraps, salads, and more. What sets Fish on Fifth apart is its dedication to catering to various dietary preferences, offering gluten-free and vegan options without compromising on flavor.
Very casual Fish and Chips restaurant. They offer 4 different types of fish for their fish and chips, which is offered either grilled or fried. I had the cod, one piece grilled and one fried. Lots of crunchy chips and coleslaw. White and malt vinegar available, as well as two dipping sauces. Outdoor seating is available for those with furry dining companions, or who just prefer dining al fresco. Reasonable prices. Definitely a winner.
Anita H — Google review
The restaurant has a cozy and unique local vibe, and I definitely recommend checking it out. The fish and chips were tasty, though the side salad could have been better. My only question is—was the size of the fish actually normal?
Morvarid S — Google review
The batter was interesting – it wasn’t too thin or too thick, but it wasn’t really crispy either. The spice in the batter wasn’t to my liking, and the chips were a bit soggy. The coleslaw and tartar sauce leaned more on the sweeter side as well. That said, the service was excellent.
S L — Google review
Fish on Fifth is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is inviting and cozy. The seafood is incredibly fresh, and the menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes. I highly recommend the deep fried halibut burger,it was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The staff was attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Fish on Fifth is a must-visit for seafood lovers!
Wayne G — Google review
Ordered chowder and 2 piece haddock and chips. Both dishes arrived at the same time. The soup was lukewarm, had lumps of flour and partially cooked carrots. Someone doesn’t know that big lumps of carrot are slower to cook than small lumps of potato. The fries and fish were way overcooked. The haddock was dry and lots of burned “chiplets” Saw the waitress only when she took my order and came to take the leftovers. Kitchen assistant delivered the food after a 30-35 minute wait.
Cgjoe64 — Google review
TLDR If you’re looking for good fish and chips, this isn’t it. If you must eat here, don’t substitute the sides and just order cod to save your money. We ordered 2 piece haddock and 1 piece haddock deep fried. The fish was crispy, the batter was well seasoned and not too oily. However, all 3 pieces of fish were overcooked, so they tasted tough and dry. In addition to the fish, we substituted our sides with clam chowder. This was a huge mistake. It was an additional $2.5 and both fries and coleslaw were removed. The chowder itself was nothing special. There wasn’t a lot of seafood and it was extremely thick. The waitress was very friendly, but the place isn’t very clean. When the waitress showed us the table, it was dirty. Thankfully, the waitress noticed it herself and cleaned it.
Ronny L — Google review
This is a family friendly restaurant, and the food is well priced for its portions and freshness. This place has a different kind of menu from what I am used to, and it was well worth trying. We had a warm welcoming and friendly service from all the staff, and they also hold great conversation. They are also gluten free and peanut free restaurant. Thank you for making our visit to British Columbia a warm one! :)
Elizabeth M — Google review
Good fries, including yam fries, and very pleasant service. Good haddock, very nice burger and coleslaw. You can get gravy on the side and every table has vinegar. Lots of dishes are genuinely gluten free, including the deep fried Mars bar! The front patio is great in warm weather. Child friendly.

The Sidney Museum and Archives in Sidney, British Columbia, is a treasure trove of history and culture. With over 8,000 artifacts, it offers a glimpse into the early lives of pioneers in the region through photographs and displays. From the stories of settlers to connections with past businesses, the museum provides insight into turn-of-the-century domestic life. In addition to permanent exhibits on local First Nations, industry, transportation, agriculture, and social history, there are changing showcases throughout the year.
This was my third year in a row to visit the museum and also see the Lego exhibit. I’ve enjoyed it every time and have learned new things about both Sidney and Lego on each visit. I especially enjoyed the model of the Hawaii Mars after having seen the video of it landing in Pat Bay! Great work everyone!!
Sheila K — Google review
Went for the annual Lego exhibition, definitely a fun time. They have something for everyone and the plaques were informative too. The scavenger hunt while going through the museum was a nice touch and kept us engaged throughout!
Daniel — Google review
A hidden gem for new comers and visitors. One of the best places to learn more about the local history. Look forward to their LEGO exhibit in December 💖
MY Y — Google review
I visited this museum in middle of January 2025 when it had LEGO exhibition. In short, it was smaller than I thought but I was glad I stopped by during my visit to Sydney. It looked like they rotate around their exhibits from time to time. So make sure to check their website before visiting. No admission fee was required for this particular one but they do ask for donations when you enter it in (and they take cards too).
Jong W — Google review
Fun escape from the rain for the three of us - adults!! There were really engaged staff with a fun scavenger hunt to find tiny Lego creations.
Ashley W — Google review
We visited for the Lego exhibit and it was so much bigger and more detailed than I expected. Lots of interesting displays to enjoy, whether you're into Lego or not. The docent who greeted us was also very friendly and gave us an overview of the museum
Daisies234 — Google review
They boast about their artifacts but there didn't seem to be that many there really. Enjoyed seeing the old map on the wall with the countries from early 1900s on it and also the quilt made by the school children of the early settler land holdings on sandwich Peninsula. Don't know why so much time or space was devoted to the capsizing of that one boat. Thought it was thoughtful to include the LGBTQ2+ section and also about the leper colony.
Carmen M — Google review
Nice museum. We were on our way to the ferry and had some spare time. So we visited this place and it was interesting. It took less than an hour for the visit. The entry is by donation.

Food & Drink
Victoria Distillers, located in Sidney, BC, has been crafting top-quality handmade spirits for a decade. In 2016, the distillery moved to a unique waterfront location to expand its operations and engage the local community and visitors in the art of creating artisanal spirits. One of their most renowned products is the award-winning Empress 1908 gin, known for its vibrant indigo color derived from butterfly pea flowers and its exceptional flavor profile.
We enjoyed trying product not available at home. Great location for a walk along the water as well.
Lisa A — Google review
We were lucky enough to be passing by around opening time and we went in and did a tour of the operation. Lovely little location with a great view and an ability to test out the latest distillations.
Graham T — Google review
Went here on a Friday afternoon with a group of 4 and had a $7.00/person tour which takes place every hour. It was interesting, informative and fun. Lasted about 30 minutes. Dave and Jason were very friendly and engaging. The tour includes a tasting at the end of 5 items. The Empress gin is beautiful and delicious. We definitely took a bottle home. The chocolate liquer was amazing. We also enjoyed some gin and tonics. We got some great information on gin and had a great time.
Elsy C — Google review
Great service and tasting. Worth a visit to try new blends of their gins. The bad thing is you might just end up a new bottle for your gin collection. 😉
Sylvain B — Google review
Wow! What a little gem this place is! We came by with some friends, grabbed a gin & tonic and took the factory tour. Our guides were knowledgeable and super friendly! I loved learning about the gin making process. The distillery section is amazing and absolutely spotless clean. These guys obviously take a lot of pride in what they do and it shows in their final products. The tour ended with a 5 gin tasting. All of them were great! We ended up buying a few bottles of the Empress gin which is both excellent in flavour and beautiful in colour! Be sure to drop by for a visit!
Anthony W — Google review
Went on the tour of this place. It's a nice clean place and a new building built a few years ago right on the water front in downtown sidney. The tour took about a half hour and the tasting took about a half hour aswell. We all had a cocktail as we talked around on the tour. The guy doing the tour was very knowledgeable and spent the time to take question from anyone that had any question.

Great decor, fun gins and other liquors. Friendly staff and a good time on the tour. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Victoria distillers is amazing! Definitely impressed by their Empress gin, would definitely rank this in a top 3 Canadian gins, and the fact that it also changes colours is a neat cocktail experience!

Embark on an exhilarating whale-watching adventure with Sidney Whale Watching. The tours offer the chance to witness Southern resident Orca whales, humpback, grey, and occasionally fin whales in their natural habitat. Additionally, dolphins, porpoises, seals, and sea lions are frequently spotted during the high-speed boat excursions through the Gulf Islands Archipelago. The calm waters near Sidney provide an excellent setting for observing these magnificent marine creatures.
We had a great whale watching experience! We saw a pod of Orcas, a humpback whale, porpoises, and a sea lion! Our guide, Ben was awesome - very knowledgeable, fun, and enthusiastic. Would definitely recommend Sidney Whale Watching. The rates were also less expensive than the whale watching rates in Victoria. Five stars all the way! 🐬🦭🐋🐳
Alex T — Google review
Had the best experience with Sidney Whale Watching! Took a tour midday on Aug 24 (2023) and had Adrian as our guide. Not only was he great at navigating us so close to a pod of orcas, but you could tell from his facts and stories that he too is a huge fan of these amazing animals himself. The small boat fits 12 people and all were so courteous and happy. Overall I think everyone had an unforgettable day and I would absolutely book again!
Leanna M — Google review
Had an Amazing experience with Sidney Whale Watching right from Behn and Natalya in the office, to my tour with Capt Cal, within half hour out on the water came across a large pod of Orca hunting and sharing their meal quite extraordinary! Then he took us to where we saw I think it was a large pod of 8 with babies!!! Cal was very informative and taught us a lot about the different pods great guy! I have always wanted to see the Orcas and he did not disappoint, I would definitely recommend going on a tour with them, especially the 5 o’clock tour, Orcas & Sunsets can’t get any better that that!! Just Amazing!
Karla M — Google review
Our experience was amazing! Our guide Ben was an extremely knowledgeable on the area and wildlife. We have been on other whale watching tours and this was by far the BEST!! Highly recommended.
Kim L — Google review
Took this trip on July 24 with my husband and daughter. I have been whale watching with a downtown competitor and had great success. I was hoping that a trip through the Gulf Islands would produce a different but equally wonderful experience. Certainly, the daily sightings map provided great hope but ultimately it was a lot of hype. After a late departure we headed north in the cold. The skipper was a very pleasant young man who is very passionate about marine life. He was able to show us one lone humpback who was transiting north. The humpback wasn’t very interested in giving us a show while he travelled at a steady pace of about 6 kn along the west side of Galliano Island. When we arrived for our tour, I had asked the woman handing out the survival suits if they had had much luck that day with sightings. She was very reticent and said that she doesn’t really hear anything about what people see out there. I had a feeling that was not entirely honest. Anyway, we saw one whale so they met their guarantee. It took over an hour in the cold to get out there. It seems it’s typical practice that the Whale Watching tours all share the information about where the one whale might be found and the direction of their travel so that all the charters can fulfil their sighting guarantee. Our guide was in constant communication with their other boat that was already on location and as we left another tour arrived. We spent a good 30 minutes, travelling alongside our lone whale and then circumnavigated Salt Spring Island to head for some resident harbour seals that gather in a known location and then to the nesting cormorants. Both the seals and the cormorants can be seen there every day. So, I would call that filler. Overall, this was a disappointing, even contrived experience. My daughter and I have been whale watching before so it wasn’t the end of the world, but this was the first time for my hubby. He was really unhappy with the whole thing. He was annoyed that the tour was late going out and then it went downhill from there. Fortunately, we spied a porpoise on the ferry back from Salt Spring the next day!
Shami K — Google review
We had so much fun with captain Cal! Hes a great tour guide and very informative. We were a group of 7 so got to have a private boat. Thanks again for a fun day!
Miek — Google review
We had a great experience. Our captain Behn was knowledgeable and found a pod of 5 orcas right away, and tracked them for two hours. He said it was the best sighting of the year. He made the trip exciting and fun. Will do this again with Behn!
Bob A — Google review
Could not have anticipated a better outing. The weather was perfect, the sea was calm, the boat captain, Ben, was knowledgeable and funny and there were plenty of whales to see. Was sprayed by some humpbacks and got to watch a pod of Orcas plan and execute a hunt. Certainly, sorry for the seal, but the Orcas do need to eat. Afterward, the Orcas celebrated with lots of play and breaching. Captured video but missed some of the bigger jumps as I was too preoccupied with watching the display. Pretty spectacular. Highly recommend the tour and this company. Go and enjoy.

Sea Glass Waterfront Grill is a bright and airy restaurant located in Sidney, BC, offering a delightful selection of Canadian cuisine such as fish, prawns, and prime meats. The restaurant provides a contemporary casual dining experience with stunning waterfront views from the Van Isle Marina. It is recommended to make reservations in advance to secure seating for lunch or dinner.
I totally enjoyed my lunch...The lanastina and blue crab sandwich was pack full...it actually was more enjoyable than the east coast lobster rolls. The staff were friendly and worked as a team. So much more than just a meal out. They are in Sidney by the marina..actually next door to Philbrooke. It is a marina so parking might be tight...but it is free. I do hope you will try it and enjoy the outdoor patio!

What a gem in Sidney BC. Beautiful view of the marina from either inside the restaurant or outside on the deck. Excellent variety on the menu and it seemed chicken and waffles were enjoyed by many customers. I however need to eat gluten-free and they had quite a lot of options for me on the menu! Today I had the lamb burger. Substituted with GF bread. Side salad. Everything was delicious.

Lovely place against the docks for lunch! Stopped here on our way down to Victoria from Schwartz Bay terminal. Located in a bit of a residential area, it was a little hard to find, but what a gem. Super friendly service, and absolutely loved the overall atmosphere and aesthetic. We got the fish and chips, lamb burger, and a salad with ahi tuna. All were delicious! The fish was probably our favourite - perfectly cooked with a light crisp batter. Great with their tartar sauce. The lamb burger had a beautiful combo of flavours and texture. The peach chutney balanced amazingly with the goat cheese, crispy onions and seasoned lamb patty. We wanted to come back on our way back up, but we ran out of time! So do us a favour, and come here for us!!

Small, but lovely spot on the water at Van Isle Marina. Great view and great food. The menu is not huge but it covers all the bases. As it's not a big place, the waitress was not run off her feet. She was very pleasant, personable and cheerful.

This place is brilliant! I can see the sunset with the yacht club! This is a big yacht club that I never seen that! It was amazing with the nice view with water! Foods are also amazing, the beef ribs is so good and taste delicious! The shrimp, salmon, and scallop combined with tomato sauce that made out the best! The dessert I chose the creme brulee and this was amaing as well, nice and sweet. After dinner, we can take the picture with all the boats in the yacht club! Amazing! and would recommend to all of my friends!

We should have had a reservation but they still managed to squeeze us in, which was much appreciated. Portobello mushroom appetizer was fantastic, would work as a small meal in and of itself. We then had the hazelnut encrusted chicken and the halibut which were very good. The mashed potatoes were particularly delicious. Awesome view awesome service.

A gorgeous little getaway bistro tucked in a picturesque marina in Sydney. Lovely outdoor patio overlooking the boats with a charming interior. We went for an anniversary dinner and loved it so much we went back for lunch. The Tuna stack was a divine starter available dinner and lunch. Light and fresh with lots of wonderful interesting flavours. My husbands tenderloin was cooked to perfection and my cioppino was bursting with seafood and the most flavourful base for which I needed 3 of their garlic toasts to do it justice. Our vanilla ginger creme brûlée was perfection. Todays lunch was a superb Salad Nicose, chicken sandwich burger, and fish & chips. Wonderful warm service . A real gem - wish we lived closer!

We had a fabulous lunch on the patio of the Sea Glass Waterfront Grill. I had the Pesto Fire Grilled Chicken on a bun with Ceasar salad and my friend had the Lamb Burger with the bacon and corn chowder. Our server was friendly and attentive and we did not feel rushed. Seafood restaurant
The Pier Bistro is a charming restaurant located at the end of Beacon Avenue pier, offering delicious comfort food and stunning views of the Gulf Islands and Mount Baker. The nautical-themed decor adds to its appeal, making it a perfect spot for families. Additionally, visitors can enjoy light bites before heading to the port. For seafood enthusiasts, Kens store on the same pier provides freshly caught fish expertly cleaned and filleted on-site.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had in Victoria area! We got the crab cakes, fish and chips, and seafood chowder. Food: fresh, so tasty, flavourful and perfectly cooked. Fish was perfectly flakey, batter was light and not greasy. But the chowder is what I’ll dream about and make a trip back out for. It’s no surprise it’s award winning. One of the best chowders I’ve ever had! Good portion size. Service: attentive, casual, and prompt. Our server seemed really genuine and kind, with a great sense of humour. Atmosphere: full of charm, casual and a great view. It’s not big, so it would be interesting to see what the wait is like during peak hours. Value: excellent value for quality and quantity of food. Will definitely be back and would recommend.

Absolutely Fantastic! A Must-Stop on the Way to the Ferry On our way back from Victoria to catch the ferry to Vancouver, we decided to stop at Pier Bistro in Sidney—and we are so glad we did! We ordered the halibut with fries and salad, and oh my god… it was out of this world. The fish was honestly some of the best we’ve ever had—crispy on the outside, perfectly golden, and incredibly fresh and flaky on the inside. Cooked to absolute perfection, it had an amazing texture and flavor that truly stood out. The fries were also delicious, hot and crispy, and the salad was fresh and balanced the meal nicely. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience feel warm and personal. And the location? Just stunning. The restaurant is literally right on the water, with gorgeous views that make your meal even more enjoyable. It’s the kind of spot where you want to linger and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. This was an unforgettable meal and a real highlight of our trip. If you’re anywhere near Sidney or heading to the ferry, do yourself a favor and stop here. Highly, highly recommended!

Decent food, good service, beautiful location. A nice little casual bistro on a pier in Sidney. We had the crab cake and clam chowder combo. Crab cakes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Chowder was much above average. A very enjoyable meal, and I hope to return soon.

I recommend this restaurant. We were walking around Sidney and stopped in for a happy hour drink. We got the two piece salmon fish and chips as a snack. It was very delicious! Highly recommend. The staff was very friendly.
John H — Google review
We had a really enjoyable meal at Pier Bistro and tried a few different dishes, including the lobster roll, the beef and cheese burger, and a bowl of chowder. The chowder stood out right away. It was creamy, flavorful, and packed with ingredients. It reminded us a lot of the chowder you can get in Fisherman wharf at James Bay, which is one of our favorites. If you like the style of chowder served in that area, you will probably enjoy this one just as much. It had a nice balance of richness and texture, and it was a comforting start to the meal. The lobster roll was another highlight. It came with a very generous portion of lobster meat, which was great to see. The lobster was fresh and not overly dressed, so you could really taste the seafood. It was served on a toasted bun that held up well without getting soggy. We also tried the beef and cheese burger, which was solid and satisfying. The patty was juicy, the cheese was nicely melted, and the bun was fresh. It hit all the right notes for a classic burger. The fries were on the softer side rather than being crispy. Depending on your personal preference, you might either love them or find them a bit underwhelming. We still enjoyed them, but if you are someone who prefers crispier fries, it is something to keep in mind. One last thing worth mentioning is that Pier Bistro has a dog friendly patio. If you are out with your dog and looking for a place to grab a bite, it is a great option to sit outside and enjoy the view with your pup. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was good, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We would definitely come back again.

Wow, the food here was really good. The fries were excellent. The Bistro sauce on the sandwich is mysterious but delicious. There is a larger variety of fish available for fish and chips than most places have. Great view of the water from the enclosed patio.

We had a lovely lunch. The Thai salad with chicken and the fish tacos were both delicious. Lovely seating area outside and friendly staff.

Nestled in the charming town of Sidney, the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant offers a delightful blend of traditional comfort food with an emphasis on fresh seafood. Had reservations that weren't honored at Surley Mermaid so we decidedly to eat here. This turned out to be a great stroke of luck for my wife and I. The food is way better here. The whole experience is a step up. For starters the view is amazing. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. The cocktails and main and desert are top notch. Been all around this blue marble and would definitely put this place in my top ten. The steak in my fajitas mouthwatering. We will be back for sure. If in Sydney you must try here first. Had second meal here today and still very impressed with all aspects of a great restaurant.

After a day at the boat show we needed dinner and we realized we hadn’t been here in years! My hubby had the Thai curry which he said was very good. The seasonings were perfect and portion was great too. I had the fish and chips and was super impressed. The batter was light and crispy and the fish cooked and moist. Our server was very good and we appreciated being in a venue where vaccine passports are still being checked. We’ve moved our boat out to Sidney and so we’re looking forward to coming back again!

Service was slow here, and they weren't even busy as it was between normal meal rush times. The waitress didn't describe the specials to us properly. We ended up receiving completely different drinks than we ordered. The atmosphere is good, and the views impressive.

When I was walking along the sidewalk next to the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant today, I saw so many people sitting outside of this restaurant, made me wonder: is this place that good? I have to go in and check it out myself! So I had this amazing dish from their menu and I finished all of it! Then what I really wanted to try next was the crepe, but I changed my mind to order something different today, called turtle cheesecake, wow! So delicious! Turned out to be one of the best cheesecake I had ever eaten! Yummy in my tummy! Great service and great food! Very decent price for such delicious food and service and beautiful view just outside the windows and beautiful lawn! Everything about this place is great 👍 I really enjoyed the Rumrunner Pub & Restaurant! Will take my friends there again and again!

This is the type of place I love to find anytime I'm near the ocean wherever I go. Guaranteed, you're always going to pay a little extra for the cute view, but it is worth it. In this case, I'd say... mostly. We were in a bit of a rush to catch a plane, which the server knew, and maybe it's an island time thing, but things were a little slow and another server dropped off the wrong meal. We also prepaid and tipped well. By the time time our server came around we were half done and had to head out. The server was, "we can't use the meal you ordered and didn't give you... so, would you like to box it up?" I guess I was hoping for something more like, "we really hope to see you back here given you travel here so much. Next time, a couple appies are on us." Aside from that, my meal was delicious (what I was able to gobble down given that it took a little longer to get to even order). In short, great view, cool place, and our server was pretty flat and uninterested but our food was good.

Fantastic casual pub and restaurant. The patios are awesome, with a view second to none. They have a very well stocked bar including local craft beer. I had the red Thai curry pasta with Prawns. So good. Definitely going to come back.

The Surly Mermaid, established in 2015, is a local hangout in Sidney offering elevated pub fare and seasonal draft beer. With a focus on fresh ingredients from Vancouver Island, the restaurant takes pride in being Ocean Wise certified. It provides excellent food, refreshing cocktails, and great service in a warm and casual setting. Located near Port Sidney Marina, it's an ideal family-friendly place for lunch or dinner with seafood, burgers, tacos, and more on the menu.
We stopped for a mid afternoon cocktail and sat on the outdoor patio overlooking the marina. Serene, peaceful, beautiful. Their cocktails are excellent! And very reasonably priced too. I had a 7 dollar house Malbec that was excellent. My wife raved about her Expresso martini.

Lovely patio, good service, nice view of the water. The person in our party who got the seafood chowder said it was the best they had while on Vancouver Island. The chicken burger was a bit tricky to eat, but good. The salad was okay. Would definitely go back.

Delicious, busy, but good food. We dined on patio on a cloudy day. Chowder soup, fish and chips and prawn taco. Service was very on the ball for drink refills and general attention . A place we will be going back to.

We stopped by last week. They have a live music in random Tuesday. The weather and view outside is good (a bit burnt if you turn at sunlight) All the menu was good and come in decent portions. The staff was good. I like the seafood chowder menu, not too salty. A bit fishy smell for mussels menu ,only just a little bit for sensitive people.

What a fun spot right on the water in Sidney. The crispy chicken sandwich was excellent. The fish and chips very much British-style. Great fries. Super nice and attentive service. Wonderful views of the marina, although not really of the water. We will definitely return!

Delicious food, yummy cocktails (smoked-vodka Caesar with candied bacon! 🤤) and a dog-friendly patio. In fact, service was so good they served a bowl of water and salmon snacks for our pup immediately. Service was fast and pleasant. Thank you Dillon for looking after us and our pup! A cute patio on the marina to pass time until our ferry reso. Only 15min to the ferry! Will be back.

We visited Surly Marmalade based on Google Reviews recommending it for vegan options, hoping to enjoy a vegan burger. My friend’s fish and chips were excellent – generous portions and very tasty. My experience with the Beyond Burger, however, became quite frustrating. The evening began with a mix-up: the server brought a vegetarian burger instead of the Beyond Burger I had ordered. When she realized the mistake, she admitted she had forgotten my order, and from that point the confusion escalated. The first Beyond Burger arrived undercooked. I had ordered it with a side salad and subsidized yam fries, but the salad never came, even though I had confirmed it beforehand. After a wait, a second burger was served, but it was overcooked, dry, and crumbly – the burger was never truly properly served. To compensate, they served the yam fries separately while trying to finish the burger. Altogether, it took nearly an hour from the initial mix-up, making the experience stressful rather than enjoyable. Later, as a gesture of apology, the staff offered me vegan wraps or tacos, which I declined because I hadn’t really eaten my main meal and didn’t want to continue a disappointing experience. However, Edgar, politely trying to make things right, brought me a vegan mousse- although I refused as I didn’t have a dinner first so I can’t eat a dessert, etc I appreciated the gesture and tried it, but my honest feedback is that the texture was firm and the taste leaned strongly towards sour rather than sweet. Most people expect a dessert to be sweet; describing it as sour-sweet would better set expectations. I share this feedback respectfully, especially knowing the owner is vegan and cares about the concept. For vegan cuisine, it’s especially important that each dish is thoughtfully prepared and harmonized on the plate, so flavors and textures complement each other. While I appreciate the effort of the staff and the quality of the fish and chips, the experience left me hungry and disappointed, and it didn’t meet the expectations set by the restaurant’s reputation for vegan options.

A Must-Visit in Sidney: The Surly Mermaid During our recent stay on Vancouver Island, we discovered The Surly Mermaid in Sidney and ended up going back several times. We had planned to explore a range of restaurants, but this one kept calling us back and not just for the food, but for the amazing atmosphere and the warm welcome we received each time. The Surly Mermaid is popular hangout, focused on fresh, creative, and delicious food that showcases the best of what the area has to offer. We tried a wide range of dishes and were impressed every single time. From fresh salads topped with perfectly cooked salmon, to rich and comforting baked mac and cheese, every plate was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. We now have a couple of absolute favourites. From the starter menu, the Chilli Garlic Prawns are an absolute must. From the dessert menu, the Guinness Brownie is dangerously good. Be sure to ask for extra sauce, because it truly is to die for. Other hits included the wings, classic fish and chips, and the unforgettable Surly Peanut Butter Burger. It sounds a bit wild, but it works and then some. Their drink menu is just as impressive. They offer a great selection of interesting local beers, and if you can’t choose, you can try a flight. The view along the Sidney walkway is beautiful, but the real magic is in the people. Darragh, the co-owner and general manager, made us feel instantly welcome. That warmth carried through from the servers to the kitchen staff, everyone we met seemed genuinely happy to be there, and happy to see us. The Surly Mermaid is a place we’ll be thinking about until our next visit to Vancouver Island. Great food, great drinks, and even better people. We’ll be back to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We couldn’t think of a better place to mark the occasion. The Surly Mermaid has earned a permanent place in our hearts. Whether you're a local or just visiting, don’t miss the chance to experience this incredible spot.

Great place to stop for a quick bite before heading to the ferry. Maria’s is a bright and clean neighbourhood favourite with friendly service and nicely presented meals. We go for the chicken and falafel souvlaki wraps. So fresh! Messy but good. 2 piece fish and chips for $16.95. Best deal in town. Crispy not greasy. Inside seating as well as patio dining Street parking.

I have been jonesing for a Gyro for about a year! I read about this lovely place and saw the fabulous reviews so had to come try it out! My Gyro did NOT disappoint. Melt in my mouth meat, tons of onions and tomatoes and the tzatziki sauce 👌👌Anyone who is complaining about prices must not know the cost of ingredients in today's current climate. Service was friendly and perfectly personable!! Highly recommend!!

We dined at Maria's our first night in Sidney. Lucky for us, we arrived on the last night of the weekly street market. The atmosphere on our walk from our hotel to Maria's was beautiful, as singer's performed and we stopped to check out the shops. The restaurant is small and cozy with interesting decor. It's very casual, not fancy at, and this is fine. You order at the counter and a wait staff bring the food to your table. It's very casual. I had the Mousaka, my spouse had the lamb skewers. We were both very happy with our entrees. Our only regret is that we live across the country and cannot return any time soon!

This restaurant is so cute. I love the decor and the food is so good. I'm glad to have a Greek place to stop for dinner on my way home via the ferries. The Five & Dime Diner, located on Sidney's main street, is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Formerly known as Floyds, this easygoing restaurant offers a fun retro atmosphere and serves hearty all-day breakfast options, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. The menu features dishes like Belgian waffles, eggs benedict, pulled pork burritos, and the unique 'Everything but the kitchen sink' burger.
Definitely underrated in every way. My husband and I went in for a late brunch with our baby boy. They were so considerate with the loud noises as he was sleeping. The food was perfect. Homey, fast, yummy and filling. I had a benny and my hubby had the veggie hash. We both, also, had smoothies. Wish we could be coming back soon but we don’t live here so that’s a shame! Thank you both of you wonderful ladies for looking after us today!

Great spot for Breakfast your way; long and lingering or quick bite and on your way. The triple threat / ham, bacon and sausage link with scrambled eggs. The eggs, meat and toast - had two eggs over medium, sour dough toast. Added turkey sausage. Added a side of banana bread. Both of the breakfast dishes come with a generous portion of breakfast potatoes. Very satisfying and delicious. Great job to the Kitchen team! Although you don't see them there's definitely love being served daily. Thank you Sammie and the front of the house team for keeping up with the crowd.

I’m now sad that I don’t live in Sydney because I just discovered a fabulous cafe in the Five & Dime Diner. My brother used to live in Sydney, so he recommended that we go there for lunch. The menu foreshadowed the dining experience we were to enjoy by the incredible variety on offer. I was almost overwhelmed with the choices, but quickly spotted the Benny section and a Mexican Benny that had a delicious list of ingredients. I was not disappointed, and in fact enjoyed one of the best and most unique Bennys I have ever had. I was also attracted to the smoothies and chose the Tropical one. It was a delicious and satisfying blend of pineapple, banana, and yogurt. The portions were substantial and I was momentarily concerned that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it all, what with the smoothie, and a full Benny, but it taste so good that somehow it all disappeared. My brother enjoyed the full breakfast and it looked worthy of a return visit. The wait staff were incredibly efficient and friendly, despite there being a full house, and people even waiting to get in. Sadly, I only come to the island from time to time, and therefore it’s going to take a long time to fully appreciate the incredibly diverse menu, but I’m going to try. Congratulations, Sydney, you have a superb local diner worthy of becoming a regular destination.

A favourite spot. The was a line out the door. I sat at the counter with friends. The staff were fun and playful, making the meal more enjoyable. I ordered the Stuffed Waffle, coffee and then ordered an iced Mint Chocolate Latte. My friend let me try his and then I had to get one myself. Overall enjoyable experience.
Brandon R — Google review
The food was yummy, we all left happy. Two people ordered the 'everything but the kitchen sink' burger and they were huge and amazing! The drinks were so-so. The chai came out ice cold which was strange, we sent it back to be reheated. The hot chocolate came in a big mug but half of it was whipped cream which was disappointing!! Service was a little slow. Many other tables who arrived after us received their food long before we did, and the cheque took a while to come too. Overall, it was a nice meal out with friends.

This is a sweet little retro diner in Sidney, that I just happened to find by plugging in breakfast near me into my maps… it’s very similar to Floyd’s diner, with the atmosphere, quality and food, prices are reasonable. All and all it’s a good place to go for breakfast, bright, vibrant, and fun.. Also has lunch. 💙 I was not able to get more photos, cause it was quite busy, and I don’t like getting people in the photos, to be respectful.

Fish O Chips is a great restaurant with friendly staff and owners. They serve delicious, fresh seafood dishes such as Salmon & Chips. They also have specials and Senior's Day which is great.
Best fish and chips I've had in the Capital region. Unlike the thick beer batter of most places this batter was so thin it reminded me of breading. So we could enjoy the fish instead of the starch. Fresh thick cut fries were a nice accompaniment. Race rocks beer made a perfect companion.

We decided to go for a drive to Sydney. We got kind of hungry, so we obviously needed to find a nice and interesting place to eat some great food at. This fish and chip place was amazing. I personally haven't had fish that had such a light batter that wasn't too oily. They really know what they are doing here. Tartar sauce and coleslaw were also extremely well done. Also, I highly recommend the crab cakes as well, so tasty. They have quite a few seats, as there is both inside and outside seating. The patio is very well done and also covered for the rain and sun. Service was excellent and very fast. Restaurant is in a cute residential neighborhood attached to an old schoolish corner store. So cute. Thank you.

Mariner Pizza has been a Sidney institution for as long as I can remember. The best pizza in all of BC! I live on the mainland now but still always order from Mariner’s every time I’m on the island. The House Special is exactly what a good pizza should be. Mexicana Supremo is also highly recommended if you like things a little on the spicy side

Great flavor, properly assembled with plenty of toppings and baked perfect. Couldn't ask for a better pie. We regularly order pizzas when my family is visiting my parents in Sidney and it's actually better than any pizza n Vancouver. Price is incredible as well!

On out way out to the ferry we stopped to grab some pizza in Sydney. We ordered online from Mariner. The online ordering website was great. Very smooth and easy checkout process. You can pay online or pay when you pick up your order. You can choose a pick up time online as well. Pick up orders get 10% off. We ordered the house pizza with regular crust. Pizza was ready upon pickup and was done to perfection. Veggies were fresh and pizza wasn't too greasy or overly salty. Definitely would go back and try it their other pizzas and lasagna.

We have been ordering the party platters for 3 years and they were always fresh, full of fish and delicious. Within the last 6 months the quality has gone downhill. We justified the first time because they were super busy and we thought they ran out of ingredients. We went back tonight and it was quiet, and again the sushi was lacking any filling, the sushi was falling apart when picked up and the salmon was off tasting. Unfortunately we will be finding a new sushi place.

Tried this little place in Sidney and it was very good for lunch. We ordered the California roll and dynamite roll along with one of their rotating Monday specials, a Panko salmon bento box. The rotating special is only $14 and is the perfect amount of food (miso, panko salmon and katsu sauce with rice, bbq salmon sushi and salad. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. I’ll be back!

Needing my sushi fix, I can agree with the high ratings. The Agadashi tofu, Akira, rainbow and White Dragon rolls made it too easy to get stuffed. To be fair, one person can be fully satisfied with Miso soup, Agadashi tofu and a roll, so bring a hungry friend. Recommended.

A small Japs Restaurant, We had a miso which different from we ever had before. It come with broccoli, red bell peppers and some cucumber but taste good, which not too strong. It's good pork Gyoza recommend. For sushi roll, i love the red dragon roll, not too much rice and enough salmon. Also the Dynamite roll also recommended, big prawn tempura with mayo. The smoked salmon roll, I don't really like it because the taste just tasteless (my opinion) The chicken katsu Don, good sauce with plenty of chicken and really good while it's hot. The price it's affordable with good portions.

So listen, I avoided this place for about a year because I read some reviews that weren’t very good. I decide to go last night. They sat us in the booth closest to the bathroom and I immediately noticed a big chunk of wall paper was missing I wanted to wash my hands and noticed there was an out of order sign on the urinal. I was pretty nervous. I sat back in my seat and waited. The server was super nice, fast and brought us exactly what we ordered. My meso soup was very hot and tasted perfect it was as good as meso soup gets so I started wondering if my first impression was wrong. Then she brought me the tempura I ordered, it looked very good the batter was crispy and it tasted delicious. So now I was thinking ok this place isn’t bad at all. My sushi came and it looked very good and tasted even better. All the food and service was as good as it gets in my opinion. The prices were very reasonable as well the place was full of people. So I obviously was avoiding this place for no good reason. I will be going back in the future. Parking is street parking it’s free and there’s lots of it.

We ordered Chilli paneer, Manchurian, and bhindi masala. Only bhindi masala is a little bit better, but Manchurian, and Chilli paneer's gravy felt like they just put paneer and the manchurian in sauce. It is not a proper gravy. I wouldn't recommend for the people who love indian flavors.

We ordered vegetarian food for pickup through Uber Eats, but to our shock, they packed and gave us non-vegetarian food instead. This is not just a small mistake—it’s completely unacceptable, especially for someone who follows a vegetarian diet for religious or personal reasons. This kind of carelessness shows a total lack of responsibility and attention to customer preferences. It’s extremely disrespectful and deeply upsetting. We trusted this restaurant with our order, and they failed us badly. Such mistakes can’t be ignored. If you are vegetarian, I highly recommend avoiding this place. You simply can’t risk this kind of disgusting and offensive error.

We had an amazing dining experience at fresh tandoori Flavour. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and comfortable seating, making it perfect for a relaxed evening. Our server was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations. The food was exceptional – butter chicken was a highlight, cooked to perfection with delicious flavors. We loved the creative and big menu and the overall care that went into every dish. We will definitely be returning soon

I recently dined at Fresh Tandoori Flavour, and I was genuinely impressed! From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting aroma of spices set the tone for an amazing meal. The ambiance is cozy and clean, with friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The tandoori dishes truly live up to the restaurant’s name — smoky, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend the Tandoori Chicken and Paneer Tikka — both had that delicious chargrilled taste that only a proper tandoor can deliver. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, and paired beautifully with their fresh naan and fluffy basmati rice. Service was quick and attentive without being overbearing, and everything tasted freshly made. Portion sizes are generous and prices are very reasonable for the quality. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, Fresh Tandoori Flavour is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be coming back soon to try more from their menu! And how can i forget the mango lassi It was so good Badi swaad c

The food here always leaves you feeling satisfied and happy. Reasonable prices and exceptional service. Lunch buffet is also worth trying to sample more of the delicious options here.

This was our luxury order for 2 (with lots of leftovers): Samosa Chaat (#21), Assorted Tandoori Platter (#38), Masala Prawn (#53), extra rice (87), and 2 orders of Naan (#102 & #106). The mango (sweet and like a dessert) & coconut (mild, a little salty but in a great way & sweet as a natural coconut - perfect for taming the famous Indian spices) lassi’s were amazing. The desserts: Rice Pudding (cold & lots of cardamom — yum!) and Gulab Jamun (warm) were so delicious and complemented each other well both in taste and temperature! Our two waitresses were lovely and very helpful to recommend items, and search for an item I had been recommended by brief description only. Super relaxing atmosphere and comfortable seating. Great gem of a place! :)

Excellent green space to sit and hear the ocean, feel the breeze, enjoy the beams on a sunny day. Beautiful view of Mount Baker and the Cascades on a clear day. Clean and maintain washrooms, mini art gallery, picnic tables, seating and access to gravelly beach to comb and wade...water is very cold! Nice walk north along waterfront past disused Anacortes Ferry Terminal with connection to a "hidden gem" - the Sidney Waterfront Walkway a bit further along; the Walkway will take you to the #SidneyPier and #BeaconPark. #TulistaPark has a real full-size sand volleyball court, a children's play area, skate park, nearby boat launch, and plenty of parking. Take the #72 from downtown Victoria, will drop you off right at the park . Enjoy! Great spot for #planespotting as on the flightpath of #YYJ #Victoria_International_Airport.

Gated playground very safe for all children...lots of boats to watch and a plane flies over this park often and when I flew home I could see this playground clearly. Lots of seating and picnic tables and easy walking for strollers and wheelchair...also a beautiful boardwalk along the water and a beach volleyball net with sand beside gated park....lots of playground equipment for all ages.

Best part about this park, are the airplanes flying overhead! This is a busy, 100% fenced, multi-ages park. It features multiple play structures, swings & benches. There is a park, walking distance, if this one is too crowded. The bathrooms are on the outside of the connected art gallery.

Awesome park by the ocean with 3 playground structures for toddlers to older kids. They also have a few picnic tables beside the playground and a covered sitting area which are great for parents to rest while the kids burn off some energies. Bonus: it's 10 mins away from Swartz Bay terminal so it's a nice stopover before heading to the ferry terminal.

Van Isle Marina in Sidney, BC is a must-visit spot with its exceptional facilities and immaculate location. The marina boasts well-maintained docks and a Sea Glass Waterfront Grill offering contemporary west coast dining. The staff are friendly and professional, ensuring visitors feel welcome and taken care of. While the bathrooms are clean and equipped with calming audio, there's no wifi or overnight yard amenities.
Super polished and clean. Friendly staff. This fuel dock has been in business since 1955. It has gone through a major update. The fuel dock was redone 2005. It offers a lot of local swag in their gift shop. A great atop on your ocean adventures.

Van Isle Marina is one of the most polished full-service marinas in BC. The facilities are modern and spotless—showers, laundry, fuel dock, and even a self-serve dog wash. The staff are professional and the concierge-style service makes check-in smooth. The on-site West Coast Grill is a great spot for a meal with a view, and the marina’s location near the Gulf Islands is ideal for cruisers. On the flip side, it’s definitely on the pricier end, and the upscale vibe might feel a bit formal for casual boaters. During peak season, availability can be tight, and some visitors mention that the electronic access system takes a bit of getting used to.

Van Isle Marina is hands down one of the best marinas we’ve ever been to in our boating life! An amazing, professional and accommodating team, facilities so clean, tidy and organized, best marina washrooms on the West Coast, incredible boat yard with attentive staff there too and you simply can’t beat the location in the southern Gulf Islands. As well, their fuel dock is incredibly easy to arrive and depart from! If you want top notch service and excellence, make Van Isle Marina your destination! Phil, Michelle and Chica S/V Arbutus Beach

The only Sidney marina I know of that uses Astro-turf instead of maintaining a real lawn. Gotta give them credit for having the confidence to install that. Jokes aside, this is one of the most professional marinas this side of the border. The facilities are top notch. The staff are fantastic and always eager to help you out and wish you well. If you’re in Sidney, I highly recommend. VHF 66A.

In all of my many years of boating, the Van Isle Marina in Sidney BC on Vancouver Island is the best managed marina that I have ever seen. Impeccable facilities, moorage for 100’+ yachts down to small fishing boats, always helpful and alert staff, 24 hour video security, full service boatyard, large dry stowage yard, two sided fuel dock, Canada Customs dock, pumpout dock, laundry, showers and the best restaurant in town all located just 15 minutes from Victoria International Airport (YYJ) and on the door step to one of the best cruising grounds on Earth. Our Quality Time Remaining couldn’t be higher!

Kudos to the entire fuel dock staff for their outstanding service. We own a sailing vessel (Fraser 42) and fuelled up yesterday (June 13/24). In the past, we have had to relay fuel from the pump to a jerry can, then into our tank because the fuel would “fountain” onto the deck (too high a flow rate for the fuel pipe to take). the Van Isle Marina staff came up with a solution: to reduce the flow rate. We’ve been sailing (and fuelling up) for decades and this was THE FIRST time anyone had a solution. Additionally, all staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful. We will fuel at Van Isle forever!
Jan N — Google review
We have been using the fuel dock of the Van Isle Marina every time we charter in the Gulf Islands. It is, hands down, the best fuel dock we’ve seen in the Pacific Northwest if not anywhere. Super well-maintained, well-organized and shiny everything – from docking cleats to pumps and the store. Staff is very friendly and happy to help. The store has many necessary and some top-quality items like HH gear that I would not normally be expecting to see at a fuel dock.

Lovely marina in a great location near downtown Sidney. Update: Very helpful staff. Coin operated laundry and showers are available. The marina is secured at night with passcard access. A small grocery, theater, many restaurants and shops are within a few blocks of the marina. Public transportation is nearby, and it is close to the Victoria Airport. Sidney Scones is a renowned bakery in Victoria, known for its gourmet made-to-order scones. The scones are baked using an original recipe and come in a variety of unique and classic flavors. Customers love the crispy crust and soft interior of the scones, as well as the experimental flavor combinations offered.
Wonderful local bakery specializing in scones. Almost any flavor imaginable. Tried the Keto Pumpkin spice with clotted cream. Absolutely, outta this world!! The clotted cream is extra but my word, it's so ono! Beautiful storefront with the friendly helpful staff staff. They also are at the Sidney street market too.

What an awesome local business run by an awesome woman. Great little location with lots of street parking. Adorable little shop and the aromas will smell better than any candle. You have ever burned in your home. The wide variety of flavours made it very hard to choose a scone, so I chose four! My favourite was the Nanaimo bar flavor. The scones are so soft and they go down far too easy. I thought the pricing was very reasonable. I was worried about getting there too late and her being sold out. but when I got there at 11:30 AM, she was still down in the kitchen pumping out fresh scones. And if you just can’t let go of the wonderful products after you finish your scones, they have frozen steak and bake options in the fridge upstairs that you can buy. This is an absolute must visit as the flavours rotate regularly. You will never run out of something new to try.

As a red seal Pastry Chef im always on the hunt for yummy treats that I dont have to bake for myself. These scones are light, flaky, buttery and flavorful. I see a lot of love for the sweet scones, but id like to shout out the SAVORY scones here too. The aged cheddar was absolutely delightful! The key lime Pie is what caught my eye, I left with that one. A lemon blueberry, an earl Grey cream and TWO Nanaimo bars flavored scones. All tasted amazing not overly sweet as I had expected. A pleasant surprise! The staff made the visit complete! Upbeat, happy, friendly and patient as each person had to think hard on their options! Ill definitely make this my go to morning latte and scones stop when I start my new job on the 15th!

Went to Sidney Night Market and was happy to see Sidney Scones as I have been wanting to try them. My family got a box of 6, all different flavours. This place is a true gem!!! We have gone several times, and each time the scones have been absolutely amazing. They offer a wide variety of scones for all taste buds and dietary preferences; and both savoury and sweet. Each scone is like a little slice of heaven. You can tell that there is lots of love and dedication that go into them. This is a must stop! The atmosphere of the storefront is friendly, warm, and inviting - and so were the staff. Chelsey, the owner, is absolutely lovely and goes above and beyond to make each customer feel valued. Highly recommend!

Super friendly staff, and very knowledgeable on their products and individual ingredients in each scone. Tried the raspberry shortcake scone, and bought some plain scones intending to save them for tomorrow. Well, they were so delicious we ate them all in one day! Super fluffy and delicious all around. The staff made it a great experience overall, and I’ll definitely be making more trips into Sidney specifically for scones.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Sidney, Beacon Brewing stands as a beacon of craft beer culture since its inception in 2021. As the first brewery in this charming town, it has quickly become a beloved spot for both locals and visitors alike. The family-run establishment prides itself on creating small-batch beers using local ingredients, ensuring that every sip reflects the community's spirit.
Visited Beacon Brewing as our first top off the ferry. We loved that they had a dog friendly patio since we were traveling with our pup. Their space is pretty nice, they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Great beer, snacks, and a few items on their food menu. Apparently you can also bring your own food. They had several board games. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. They even have a dog picture wall. Loved our visit, hopefully we can visit again someday.

This brewery offers a diverse range of beers, serving authentic 20oz Canadian pints. With board games, arcade games, and events like vinyl night and music bingo, it's perfect for family outings.

We first discovered Beacon Brewing during a CAMRA tour. We always like to try places we have neve been and run a flight to get a good idea of what they are offering. It was a small, but friendly little place. I wish them all the luck in the world, but sadly, both I and my colleague found there beer on the bland side, not to our admittedly choosy tastes, and we have not been tempted by their offerings since.

My husband and I stopped in to try a local brewery. He ordered Tradies Tinnie Aussie Pale Ale that he enjoyed. I ordered a wine. Also good. Nice atmosphere, games available to play, three TVs. This was a good stop after a hike.

The restaurant features an impressive selection of award-winning wines and local beers to complement your meal. Excellent early dinner tonight. The restaurant was very busy, booked until after 7pm; however, their patio is first come first served, and being early we were seated immediately. Really friendly staff. Dinner was delicious, as was dessert 😋😍. Hubby enjoyed a nice crisp BC Sauvignon Blanc. I had a yummy non-alcoholic cocktail that included ginger beer. Super location. Highly recommended.

Brought my aunt, my great aunt, and my grandma here for lunch. Beautiful place, great service, amazing food. Only qualm was each plate was brought out at a different time. My ladies aren’t the type to eat until all food is on the table, which resulted in some plates being cold because of the long wait times. Awesome lunch either way and will be back again.

We stopped into West Coast Grill (formerly Sea Glass) and had a lovely meal with a great view. The menu offers a nice mix of fresh, West Coast–inspired dishes. We tried a hearty bowl, a fresh salad, a flavourful chicken on ciabatta, and the seared ahi tuna burger — which was perfectly cooked and a definite standout. Service was friendly and relaxed, and you can’t beat the location right by the water. A great spot for a casual lunch or dinner after a stroll along the marina.

We love this new restaurant in Sidney! The service we’ve received has been exceptional. The newly renovated interior is classy & comfortable; the light and colour scheme warm and inviting. AND it is not noisy! The food is very interesting and upbeat, and well priced! We’ve been to the restaurant five times in six weeks; treating family and friends. Each time we have experienced five-star service. One night we got so deep into conversation that we were the last to leave! That says so much about the ambiance. We feel like family in the environment. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Booked a large group for dinner and turned out fabulous. Did my due diligence and met with the manager Val prior to the event and she called after the meeting to ensure she had the details of what we were looking for. Beautiful day, sat on the patio and all guests were welcomed warmly by the team. Every dish turned out perfect as well as cocktails and wine. Calamari was excellent, bread, mushroom ravioli, tuna burger, salmon, fish and chips, etc. Did not have room for dessert so looking forward to returning. Had been to the happy hour which indeed was excellent as well. Great start for this new restaurant and fabulous setting!
Joanne T — Google review
Very nice location, great food and service! Everyone enjoyed the lunch items, with a wide variety of menu items. Probably the only (slight) downside are the low seats, more like a living room chair at a dinning room table, awkward for dining.

We spent Our 43 wedding anniversary dinner at the Sydney location. We couldn’t have had a more enjoyable evening. Outside on the back patio deck was quiet and relaxing. Our server Shawn, was most helpful, courteous and although very busy made time to chat with us and made us feel most welcome. We started with the calamari which was probably the best we have ever had. The secret is the graham cracker crust! Our main course was the seafood linguini. The food arrive hot. Finally a restaurant that understands the right temperature for good service. The pasta was perfect. Not dry and sticky. We were amazed at the quality and quantity of seafood too. Our next visit to Sydney will include a boat to this restaurant.

Sidney Street Market is a vibrant evening market that takes place in downtown Sidney on Thursdays from June to August. It offers a wide array of locally produced goods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade crafts, jewelry, art pieces, and even local wines. The market boasts numerous vendors showcasing their unique products, making it an ideal spot for visitors to explore and shop for various items.
Great street market for a town this size. Lots to look at. Many different types of vendors. There were lots of food vendors, but I didn't try any as I had dinner reservations. Will definitely come again.
Jennifer C — Google review
The Market this year just doesn’t live up to past years. Very little entertainment and NO ice cream vendor! The vendors that are here are good but this year there’s just something missing.
Denis C — Google review
The Sidney Street Market is one of the best things to do in the area during the summer. Held every Thursday evening, this open-air market brings life and energy to downtown Sidney — a town that, while beautiful, often lacks other major events or nightlife, especially during the week. For locals and visitors alike, this market fills that gap in the best way possible. Each week, Beacon Avenue is lined with rows of white tents, welcoming dozens of vendors selling handmade crafts, local produce, specialty foods, and unique gifts. Whether you're looking for fresh jam, artisan soap, jewelry, or artwork, there's always something interesting to discover. Street food options are abundant, from grilled skewers to mini donuts, and everything smells amazing as you stroll by. Adding to the atmosphere is live music from local performers — singers, acoustic guitarists, even small bands play throughout the evening. It’s the perfect background to a casual summer night, giving the market a fun and laid-back feel without being overwhelming. Another huge plus is the timing. Thursday evenings work so well because they don’t compete with weekend events in Victoria or other nearby towns. It’s a great excuse to get out midweek and enjoy something special — and since Sidney doesn't have many regular events or late-night spots, this market becomes an important gathering place for the community. The location is unbeatable, too. Just steps from the ocean, the market gets a refreshing sea breeze, and you can catch a gorgeous sunset if you linger toward the end. After browsing, many people head to the waterfront to relax or take a quiet walk by the pier. If you live nearby or are visiting the Saanich Peninsula, don’t miss this market. It's a lively, family-friendly, and truly local experience — and a much-needed event that brings people together in a town that often feels quiet after hours.
Vinh L — Google review
I wish you guys opened a little earlier maybe at 4-4:30 instead of 5:30 still a great market and I love checking all of the stands
