I love the place, helps me relax, but it's a bit crowded during the weekend, and full of 💨, I wouldn't advice for a person having breathing problems. Overall I like it, it's good area to meet new people from all over the city. My fellow female visitors, please watch what you're drinking, and don't get drunk unless you're in groups. Enjoy!!

A mixed feeling. It is modern and great lounge. The staff who serve the tables were friendly. But the two ladies behind the bar should be given a different job. They destroy the vibe of the place, angry face and rude. At one point one of the table servers tried to cheer them up and asked them to put a happy face. By far the worst baristas. Management needs to take action

I recently had an experience at a club that left much to be desired, particularly due to the conduct of the bouncers inside the venue. While the staff outside were accommodating and pleasant, the atmosphere changed dramatically once I entered. The bouncers inside were not just a minor inconvenience; their behavior significantly detracted from my overall experience, making it unpleasant and unwelcoming. As an expat, finding a place where one feels comfortable and accepted is crucial to enjoying the diverse cultural experiences that come with living abroad. Unfortunately, the unwelcoming attitude displayed by the bouncers inside the club was a stark contrast to the hospitality I was greeted with by the external staff and, indeed, the hospitality I’ve come to appreciate in my time here. It’s disappointing when the actions of a few can so profoundly impact one’s night out, especially in a setting that’s supposed to be about enjoyment and relaxation. I hope that sharing my experience can bring attention to the importance of consistent, respectful treatment by all staff members in such establishments. Ensuring a welcoming environment for both locals and expatriates alike can significantly enhance the experience and encourage a more inclusive atmosphere.”

Good sitting area, variety of food and drinks option

They serve you drinks you didn't even order and finally charge you the whole price without even discussing. Shameful place. Don't go there if you're white, they'll make you bleed your money and charge ad hoc price.

Looks nice with good music. I asked for a beer, and that wasn't available. Maybe that's a cultural thing for me as a German, but from my perspective, a bar without beer is not a proper bar. So we left.

We had a wonderful time here! The atmosphere is top-notch-cool, moody, and perfect for unwinding. The service was prompt and very friendly, and the cocktails were expertly crafted.

There are a few really nice places that this building including Black Rose bar there is a club on the top floor as well as a lounge bar on the second floor. The ambience is very nice and the crowd is very chilled and relaxed.

Black Rose has, for decades, been the hot spot for the successful and the metropolitan demagogue of Addis. It has a dark, dimly li, red themed decor that soothes away the day. The few items on the menu are there if you're hungry, but the main attraction is the bar. The past few months have seen eye-popping prices (inflation has hit everywhere hard), but this case was different... A smiling server offered us the cocktail special without telling us the prices. We accepted and ordered another round of the sweet pineapple concoction. I asked for less ice, and the glass was brought back half full. Our bill came to nearly 8,000br for 5 drinks (we hadn't ordered a 5th). Even calculating for the 5th drink, it comes to a whopping 1,600br per drink with half the glasses full of ice. These are prices I would find high even at the most expensive hotels, restaurants, or clubs ... and even they have the decency to put the items on the menu. People often don't make a fuss about the price gouging at places like this. People go to relax and have fun. It's sad that this should be exploited to this degree. It smacks of desperation on behalf of the management when the return customers stop returning as much as they used to.

Good atmosphere and cool crowd. Expensive drinks but we had fun! The club above does not sell beer and requires you to buy a bottle of cheap liquor at very high price.

Was here 10 years ago and it hasn't changed. Still one of the top lounges in town. Excellent staff and we'll positioned in town. Close to all the major hotels. Prices are very reasonable and it's easy to meet people here.

Black Rose Bar (more like a lounge) offers excellent drinks that are both well made and of high quality ingredients. Serving food like cheesesteak sandwiches late into the night, this establishment that is both sophisticatedly furnished and welcoming to all stages of inebriation. I'd recommend coming for happy hour on Fridays between 5 and 7 (I think...don't quote me on that), as the drinks (which are expensive) are significantly cheaper (by how much you ask? You'd have to ask a slightly more inebriated version of me for that answer, sorry! But I do think it's more than 50% off). Nevertheless, go there prepared to spend significantly. You won't regret it! ...actually you might.

This is definitely NOT “a safe place to jam all night,” at least for women. Two of my friends were assaulted within 30 mins of being at Illusiin during the late night/early morning of July 21, 2019. The first incident happened when we were walking into the club, past the raised tables on the left, and a man reached down from one of these tables and grabbed my friend. When she tried to tell the guard so he could do something about it, he dismissed her and told her to just leave it alone (while the guy who grabbed her was laughing behind the guard). She eventually did leave it alone, because it was obvious that the guard was actually defending the assaulter and wasn’t going to do anything about it. Feeling pretty unsafe/unsettled/angry after that, we decided to leave soon after. On the way out, it happened AGAIN to another friend with from another guy at the raised tables (I wouldn’t call these tables VIP because they’re obviously just for trash). And AGAIN the guards told us “becca becca” and were pushing us out of the club instead of doing literally anything at all to the man who perpetrated the assault. When we asked why they weren’t taking any actions against the men (who committed those assaults literally under the guard’s noses), they shrugged and were again dismissive. We left. The impression that the guards gave us was that what the men did was not a big deal. That having your body grabbed was something that was obviously going to happen at a club, and that it was acceptable. And that the men paying for access to those tables gave them the right to do what they wanted with impunity. Assault should not be something that is expected at a nightclub. It is not casual. It is not acceptable. It is not defensible. If the management cares about women enjoying their night safely, the very very least that could be done is to instruct guards to take these complaints seriously and punish the perpetrators (for example, just kick them out) rather than the ones who have been violated. Seems like common sense, but it’s obviously not being executed. If people are held accountable for their actions, they might think twice before violating somebody’s body. The conclusion is this: Find somewhere else to party in Addis. Don’t support a business which allows a culture of assault to thrive.

Where else in the world can you see Lucy, our oldest ancestor? 💕🇪🇹 Only in Ethiopia! I can not recommend this gem of a museum enough. I'm a lover of natural history museums, and this has the most comprehensive collection of human evolution fossils I've ever seen. It was sheer joy. Plus, Ethiopian history as well. ❗ Foreigners may be surprised at the depth of Ethiopian history. When Romans were trading, Ethiopians were there with them. Really great artifacts. 💲 Entrance is very inexpensive, we paid 160 birr for two adults and a kid. However, I recommend against the guide. Ours just read the signs aloud and wanted a substantial tip (honestly, I've never had someone tell me the tip I offered wasn't enough, he was only happy with 5 times the entrance fee) A must-see in Addis!

Enjoyed my visit last week ! Still under renovation around ! It contains local archaeological and fossilized of early hominids, the most famous one is LUCY ! the partial skeleton of a specimen of Australopithecus Afarensis ! Easy to visit and only 50 Barr entrance fee !

Beautiful museum. Small but perfectly organized and explained. Of course the highlight is Lucy but great to have a glimpse about Ethiopian rich history.

Should be one of the first things to do when you arrive in Ethiopia/Addis Ababa. All informational displays are in English. Upstairs it gives a great overview of the history of Ethiopia going back to 1,000 years BCE covering Ethiopian Antiquity, Christian Kingdoms, Ethiopian Sultantes, and Megalithic Societies. Not a huge display but supported with artifacts and photos of actual sites. Also maps of locations of churches and fossils across Ethiopia. Plenty to see in a day. Downstairs is the famous Lucy skeleton, both reconstructed and the partial skeleton pieces found. Plenty of information about the origins of our species and some interesting fossils of native animals.

Probably the most iconic exhibition is Lucy, the museum is small and currently only the basement and ground floor are open. Entrance is only 50 Birr.

It's good it's fun it have interesting things but currently some part of it is in repair or something like that would recommend if u wait a bit so u can have the full experience u want but still its enjoyable

Holy Trinity Cathedral is close to Addis Ababa city center. It’s a beautiful church but too pricey to visit. Visit to a little museum next door is included. The entrance fee for the foreigners was around 1500 birrs, which is too much for what offers. On the bright side, the guide inside the church and the stuff in the museum was super friendly.

Overhyped and overpriced (at Birr 1500). The Church has without doubt historic significance but some of the reviews here seem to be sponsored to exaggerate its unique beauty. I agree with a previous review that it would hardly be outstanding if it was in Europe. It didn't appear well kept during our visit (September 2025) and there are lots of touts around harassing visitors for payments (even when taking photos from the outside). All this did not allow for a peaceful and relaxed visit, not even to pray and contemplate. I certainly wouldn't mind a small donation after visiting such place to support its upkeep (as I believe many other visitors would do), but this experience drove us away.

This place is truly amazing. The age of the building combined with its structure creates a very special feeling. This is one of the most prominent examples of modern architecture that the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has displayed in the country.

The place felt good and had good energy, the price is a bit expensive 1500 birr but worth it considering the last emperor of Ethiopia is buried there, all in all it's a must if in Ethiopia. The church offers a bit of history in the paintings and murals

What a wonderful experience 1500 birr for foreigners but this is by far one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever been to,

When I tried to take a photo of the exterior from outside the premises, the gatekeeper told me to buy a ticket. 800 Birr is too expensive, considering that you can't see inside because it's under construction. The museum is just a dusty storeroom. A man claiming to be a facility attendant in the ticket booth started to show me around, and despite me repeatedly telling him that I didn't have the money to pay him, he didn't leave my side and kept explaining. In the end, he asked me for $20 because he had given me a special tour inside and needed to pay the construction boss, and charged him separately for the guide fee. When I told him that I didn't have the money and that I told him from the beginning that I wouldn't pay him, he told me that there was an ATM. The attendant and the construction workers are all in on it. Be careful.

We were quite disappointed with the Ethnological Museum. The exhibits lacked a clear structure, were poorly presented, and had few explanations provided. Many of the walls showed signs of water damage, and the pictures were either dirty or improperly hung. It seemed that there was little emphasis on conservation. Overall, our experience was disappointing. I would recommend visiting the National Museum instead.

I cannot explain how much I love this place! I lived here for a few years over ten years ago and coming back was a surprise: it has been renovated many times fully maintained its charm and essence. Its one of the historic places to be. I enjoyed my visit there. The building is aesthetically constructed and preserved, descriptions of all the material are available. For those whom are studying on/ about Ethiopian modern history, tradition, culture its a place worthy of being visited. In general its a place where you can refresh and refill your mind with history and knowledge of the great Ethiopia.

Beautiful park, very secure and worth every minute. It has a variety of animals, good restaurants and easy to go around. It takes a few hours to complete the full circle but worth every time, you get to check out the History and the artefacts.

Unity Park – A Beautiful Experience in Addis Ababa Unity Park is a wonderful place to visit! It’s a nice and relaxing spot with a small zoo that includes some of Ethiopia’s famous animals like giraffes, meerkats, lions, jaguars, and a variety of birds. There’s also a small aquarium that adds to the experience. The park has many cafés and ice cream shops perfect for sitting down and enjoying the beautiful views. The gardens are large and full of colorful flowers, making it a peaceful place to walk around and take photos. Overall, I had a very nice experience visiting Unity Park. It’s definitely worth a visit for families, tourists, and anyone who wants to enjoy nature in the heart of Addis Ababa.

Unity park is one of the higher end parks in Addis. It includes museums about the history of Ethiopia, and zoos featuring zebras, lions, giraffes, wild dogs, baboons, something that lived underground, and fishes. This park also highlighted the different regions and cultures of Ethiopia. The tickets are a bit on the pricey side for foreigners, USD 20 per person (including those with Residents ID). Overall, the park was educational and fun, even for kids.

It’s a must visit when you are in Addis . I paid 20 dollars to get in and got to see the residence of Haile Selassie, a castle , a fish aquarium, a zoo with different kinds of animals and interesting architecture of buildings. There restaurants inside too

A cultural and historical museum, a zoo, an aquarium and an amazing park all bundled into one huge compound. You can spend a whole day there. You also learn a lot about Ethiopian history and culture. At the zoo, you can see the Black mane lion, peacocks, Zebras, Giraffes among other things. It was my second time visiting and I had an amazing experience.

Unity Park is a beautifully envisioned and executed attraction, with a rich weave of history, culture, and natural beauty—right in the heart of Addis Ababa. The famous lion of Judah statue that was once taken by Italians and returned later. This symbol is still very significant for Rastafarians. The place around the statue could use some cleaning and better maintenance.

As a national emblem of Ethiopia, this statue of the lion of Judah is majestically standing in one of the central areas of Addis Ababa, next to the national theatre. I went there for a very short visit on the weekend. The neighbourhood can be rough and not very crowded during the weekend.

The monument of the Lion of Judah is a statue of the Lion of Judah, symbol of Ethiopian Emperors and located in the square of the railway station in Addis Ababa, and marks the end of Winston Churchill Avenue. The sculpture of the Lion of Judah, in gilded bronze, is placed on a black granite pedestal decorated with relief portraits of Menelik II, Haile Selassie I, Zewditu, and ras Makonnen Wolde Mikael. The work was made by the French sculptor Georges Gardet in 1930, on the occasion of the coronation of Emperor Hailé Selassié on November 2,1930.

October 2024 4* Ethiopian airlines has two lounges at the airport - Platinum (Business class) and Gold (Star Alliance). Visited their Gold lounge. The place is quite spacious and has all the facilities including shower. Washrooms are clean and nicely maintained. There is seating area in the front and sleeping chairs in the back side. Also there are some working desk. Good quality is good and had many vegetarian options. Loved the red beans.

Good vibe and decent service, but messy and the food( I have been twice) could vary, from good to more like hospital catering. The view of the city is nice

The lounge is not so goods as other Star Alliance’s. I give them 2 stars because I have been changing the shower box since there wasn’t have a hot water. Also need to renovate. Only have body cream and soap, nothing else. The slipper is not one use, so be carefully about the hygiene of this.

The gold lounge was another decent lounge but I personally didn’t like the airlines’ criteria of shifting me to Gold one from Platinum. I had platinum miles as qualifying, and it was well evident in my boarding pass as well. However, when I reached the platinum lounge, they asked me to go to the next one which happened to be this one. I had relatively less time to access the lounge, and for the same reason, I avoided any argument with the staff over this. But they need to be atleast polite enough to explain in case the platinum one is congested. Here, the amenities were good overall, but were slightly sub-par when compared with platinum one. The lounge was extremely crowded, even though it was very spacious, yet felt small for so many guests there.

This is where the business class ticket holders also the Sheba and Cloud 9 members relax and chill before boarding. It is fairly spacious but can look full. A prayer 🙏 room, massage 💆‍♀️ room, toilet 🚻, a couple of restaurants and a full bar 🍸 are some of what is available here. Clean and cool, you can also nod off here but don't expect to be called for boarding. You can also charge your mobile devices or connect to the WiFi to read your emails 📧 or text messages. It is also wheelchair ♿ friendly.

After arrival on the red eye from Frankfurt the GoldStar Lounge was a welcome retreat. The lounge is larger than expected and will recommend this location. Food was a mix of local and European buffet for breakfast. Coffee was great. There is a childrens area and a smoking lounge for those still in need. Beer and wine are available.

I’ve been to the Sarbet location many times over the years, so many times I’ve lost count. I bring all of my visitors to Yod Abyssinia to experience Ethiopian music, dance, food, and hospitality. Since travel in Ethiopia is a bit limited these days, Yod Abyssinia is a 1-stop shop for a great cultural experience. Note: the music can be really loud, so I prefer tables on the back row. Also, the food here is decent (not the best in Addis though!), so visitors can sample a variety of local foods. I know less about the Bole location, but it’s much bigger and more lively.

Great food, great ambience, beautiful performance by the artists (music, dance and songs) and Lovely service. Had a great time and would highly recommend. It was indeed nothing but an amazing experience!

Went here for lunch and later in the week for dinner. The culture show was apparently only available in the evenings. My local colleagues brought me to this restaurant so I could experience delicious local cuisine and watch/participate in cultural dances. The restaurant is very large and has nice decor. You can order from the menu or eat from the buffet. It was my first time in Addis and I would definitely return.

The cultural performances were beautiful, but the food was the worst Ethiopian food we have had since arriving in Addis a couple of weeks ago. We ordered Beyaynetu and not a single one of the dishes was warm, the flavour also wasn’t great. Would go literally anywhere else in Addis for better food.

I have never been exposed to such a cultural explosion as at the Yod. The food is out of this world. There is a buffet for groups.I ate Injera and cooked beef and Doro Wat. It was a good experience using fingers instead of fork and knife and also eating from the same plate with my husband! The fermented honey drink and St George's Amber beer was the proper wash down. The dance performances were mind blowing. I have listened and enjoyed Ethiopian music before but listening to the music and seeing the dances too made such a big difference. The neck dance from one of the peformances was mind blasting. The one musical drama between 2 lovers was especially hilarious. I also had an opportunity to take a few pictures with two singers .Service was excellent. However, booking in advance is advised as the place gets full. Entrance is free.

I was absolutely moved by how old the history of Addis Ababa (or Barara as it was then called) actually is. Needless to say, I was utterly dismayed that such a historic site had suffered from such neglect, as it is known by very few. But even of those few who know it, how many have contributed to restoration, conservation and preservation efforts for this site? Extremely few. And how many have done exactly the opposite of what they should be doing, and have ignorantly harmed the site with graffiti markings instead? Quite a number. Woe be to ye graffiti vandals!

Well if what they say is correct, then this is one of the very oldest Christian churches still partially standing on earth. Definitely worth the hassle of getting there. Beware, Google will try to send you through the new presidential palace, go around the back.

Just 1 hour walk from center of city. (Via German Embassy) Neglected history from 4th century. Most part of roofing has fallen and remains are seen on ground. Caretakers of the church live in the compound probably you have to call out when you arrive. If you have 4×4 , you can drive all the way to the church via Yeka Michael church. Just follow Google map or strava .

Washa Mikael (or Washa Michael) is a unique ancient church near Addis Ababa which is carved out of rock. According to locals, Washa Mikael rock hewn church dates back to the Axumite Kings of Ezana and Sayzana. Priests tell you it was founded in the 4th Century AD. I visited Washa Mikael rock-hewn church with a couple from Australia on Oct 30, 2022. I find it very interesting. The road to the church is in very good condition (still under construction). There are no road signs on the main road. If you want to drive to the rock church of Washa Mikael, if you are driving from the British Embassy to Megenagna, take the asphalt uphill road on the left – passing the British Embassy and some compounds, and before reaching Sholla Market Traffic light. Drive straight uphill until you reach a burial ground on your left. Take the first turn off to left, and drive for about 3 kilo meters. You will find the church on your left with a corrugated iron fence painted with the Ethiopian colors of Green, Yellow and Red. There are no official tour guides during my visit. It is advisable to have a tour guide who knows the location and the history. Or make your own preparation in advance. Washa Mikael rock church is a great substitue to have an idea of the rock hewn churches of Lalibela and such architectural style. But, it is sad to know the church was destroyed by bombings by Italians during the Italian Occupation. Have a nice visit!

An Awesome place to go when you are in Addis Ababa. It's an undiscovered secret. I can't believe this isn't way more popular. Anyway I'm so happy I got to see it before it gets too commercial. it was a true lifetime experience.

Hard to reach. You need to walk uphill for one hour but worth it if you cannot make it to Lalibela. You can have the whole place for yourself.

Historical place on the outskirts of addis abeba yeka mountain

I've been to this club (now called Obsession) recently and I had a horrible experience. The Scotch I had was fake, same genre of music for almost all night and I was also overcharged. Don't waste your time & money!

They will over change you for drinks if you are a foreigner, do not come to this istablishemnt.

Signposted only in Amharic (as one local assured us, 'after one glass, foreigners start talking Amharic') but with menus in English, it’s a congenial place with tables surrounding a garden. The smallest serve is 500ml…

Not for everyone. The purpose of the museum seems to be focussed more on shock and horror rather than sharing a historical perspective. Many photos of torture, death, starvation and the like. There is a very nice English speaking guide available for those who dare to enter. Ticket price is by donation. Plan for approx 30mins.

Free entry, so why not go. It’s a small museum which has painful stories. Can be little scary because you’ll see reall human body remains. I recommend to go while visiting the square, It doesn’t take time to see everything and they are only relaying on donation.

Very interesting museum about an unfortunate time in history. It would be nice to see a consistent upkeep of this place. I went to visit in December of 2022. The entrance had no glass/windows, no lights on the inside, & someone on the outside asking for money to be my guide. I turned the guy down and went inside on my own.

This is a very important museum that highlights a very sad part in the Ethiopian history. Most doesn’t know much what happened behind the iron curtain, even less when it comes to the African curtain. Ethiopia is still suffering from the Derg years, dark times and lots of human tragedies. The museum covers what led up to the revolution, how Menge took power and the red terror that followed. It gives you the basics but I suggest you do some reading before you come here since the museum far from covers the lot. I wouldn’t call this museum complete; it is very small with not that many exhibitions but it does give a somehow ok insight. Reason for only three stars, the building which was built by one of the best contractors is in badly need of maintenance, at least the statue outside, the sign of it is hardly readable, shame really. There´s also a broken minibus parked in the museum for no reason (lack of funding they said). No entrance fee but a donation is highly expected, also the guide will try to shake some extras and promoting himself as a tour guide for you to buy his services. I know salaries have lots to ask for but expected some more professionalism. The museum offers some basic printed books which are very interesting. More resources should be put into this place since its an important part of Ethiopian history, museum it’s not very old either but continuing in this direction it will be a shackle within some years which is sad, worth a visit, definitely, honour those that are not with us anymore. Long live the Empire.

Additionally, it is free to enter, making it an accessible place to learn and remember. Apart from the physical museum, there is much to be learned from discussions with locals. It is important to gain insight from those who lived through the Red Terror and can provide multiple perspectives on the political situation at the time. It is equally as important to speak to the younger generations and understand their views of life today in comparison. The museum, plus conversations with those affected, offer a deeper understanding of the past and the present.

Free entrance, Its good to k that about yesterday to predict our tomorrow, its one of the darkest periods of our country, Sadly its still happening twin brothers killing each other. Its sad knowing that there will be another museum in the next decades like this. Good place to visit

Lovely restaurant with great atmosphere. The food was very good. It is well balanced in terms of taste. I loved the mash potatoes. Daily specials on the menu. Service is very good. English is not spoken very well but good enough for ordering.

One of the best restaurants in the country - read this tagline doubted but now I confirm it is true. The bread is warm and crunchy. The dipping was great. Ordered foie gras and beef tartare both up to 1st world standard. The food portion is very big so I couldn’t finish the food. It is quite an expensive restaurant in local standard too

Lovely comfortable restaurant with a pleasantly surprising menu unlike any other in Addis. Sat outside for lunch. The staff was attentive (not searching for a waitress for more napkins or salt), but checked in often enough to feel like they took pride in the service they were giving. Food was amazing. Just a little confusion with the bill but an over all great experience!

Makush Art Gallery is a fusion of diverse paintings with a blend of various artists showingcasing and selling their works. It provides visitors enjoyable experience in the vibrant bole. It has a welcoming atmosphere for art enthusiast event though some of the art pieces are kept like a commodity item with unreasonable prices.

Excellent gallery and easy to find with parking available. Significant range of art, something for everybody, from small to large and less expensive to more expensive. The gallery provides packing service to pack in box or remove from frame and roll into tube - for easy travel. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, and also not pushy. The gallery was a very relaxing place to slowly wander and enjoy the works of art (and buy something gorgeous to take home!)

Nadi Is Loved by all. As a consummate host in the space of art in Ethiopia. His gallery offers a Very thoughtful selection of quality acrylics and oils from some of Ethiopia's well-known artists.. Very knowledgeable and very accommodating . I was flying out the next day and the team stayed late that night to help me prepare the paintings for travel . It's like coming home with family. The only thing that's missing is the restaurant that used to exist. But I appreciate the progression and I like how the quality of art has improved over the years. And the artist selection is bar none.

Good spot to buy art pieces. It's an art gallery and restaurant. Nice selection of art. It seems to be a tourist destination as well, because I saw 3 large groups come in during my time there. I wasn't impressed with the pizza or coffee. Shop there but don't think the food is going to be as good as the art on the walls.

Amazing gallery with a variety of current Ethiopian artist. The place gives a feel of class and is definitely worth visiting if you are local for current, monden, contemporary artist in Ethiopia. I love it.

Amazing art collection if you want to buy or just look around they have more than 20 years of experience with more than 120 painters work. Very friendly staffs They also have Italian restaurant sadly it was closed when I was there so didn’t get the chance to try the food but heard they have good cuisines.

One of the best art galleries I’ve been to. A wide selection of art from professional artists all over Ethiopia. Reasonable and fair prices. The gallery director was incredibly kind. We were going to arrive after closing hours, but he kept the gallery open for us. Highly recommend for anyone interested in buying high quality Ethiopian paintings (including mixed media paintings).

The weather literally clouded my overall experience here but it was really nice to have such a wonderful and engaging tour guide to show me around the place. He was genuinely interested in making my visit a pleasant event and I appreciated how detailed his explanations of the exhibits were. The view of Addis Ababa was obscured by clouds but this is still a magical place to visit any time of year.

The road leading up to the church is very quiet and serene. The forest environment is very relaxing. The church provides a view of Addis from one of its sides. It also has a very sacred vibe.

Visited but stayed outside. Walked to the church from the outskirts of the city below (parked near the US Embassy). The walk was definitely worth it. There is a museum co-located on the church property. The church was built by Emperor Menelik II and is the burial place of Menelik and his wife Empress Taytu. Entrance to the museum requires a fee. (I didn’t visit the museum.)

A good monastery trip with my grandmother.. as she was born in addis ababa she like to visit this church everyones in a while.

As a child, my family and I often visited Anatic, and I have fond memories of the place. Recently, feeling nostalgic, I decided to try it again. While the food was decent overall, I was disappointed with the lasagna, which I used to love but didn’t enjoy this time around. On a brighter note, the "Teff Kita" paired with the chicken salad was absolutely delightful. Although I remember the "Teff Kita" being free in the past. Anatic remains a cozy spot for catching up with friends, though the prices are slightly on the higher side.

I really loved the place and vib. The outdoor dots are so nice. So green and cool. The food was amazing. Delicious but small portion. Their pizza and lasagna was great. The Steak was very small for the price. Surprisingly they serve amazing Jebana coffee. Their price is a bit expensive to the portion.

This place used to be really good years ago, but the last time we ordered pizza with meat, the taste wasn't good. I am not sure if it needs seasoning but it was bland. The service was OK, the atmosphere wasn't bad. I want to go back ans try other dishes.

Food is decent but the service is questionable. The waiters very openly prefer the regulars and foreigners and we had to beg to get service.

Food was terrible. We ordered a four cheese pizza and Pasta with meat sauce. They didn't have half the things on the menu. The tall light skinned Waiter has been here for ages and no longer interested in serving and gave us poor service.

The place is located right at the main road and u can easily find it. Spacious place with different services for like exclusive ceremonies. They offer mainly three types of food: pizza, BBQs and pastas. The place is beautiful but the service could be a bit faster and improved a bit. Different drinks are also available.

WORST INDIAN FOOD ever. I love Indian food and eat it in every country I visit . I have been to over 20. This was by far the worst Indian food I have ever had . I always order the same simple Masala butter chicken and saag paneer . Chicken curry and spinach curry are super simple and not A complicated dish . The curry was watery and tasted Like tomato salsa and was COLD , as if they did NOT MAKE IT fresh but instead just put it in the microwave. Very disappointed and just Disgusting .

Absolutely amazing restaurant. I don’t know what everyone’s talking about regarding service, the staff was absolutely exceptional. The food was delicious. I had butter chicken, samosas, garlic naan, chana masala, and mango lassi. We were treated so kindly, food did not take too long and the space was spacious and clean. Highly recommend.

Don't get fooled by the music! We came in at Sangam restaurant and luckily for us the vegan/vegetarian food was absolutely amazing! After a week in addis this is no doubt the best vegan food we've had. We had the chana masala, dal and veg-kofta in small portions, and it was just the perfect amount for two:)

I’ve visited this bakery twice now, and overall, it’s been a lovely experience. They offer a nice variety of freshly made cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, and hot drinks, making it a great spot to pop into for a treat or a quick break. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with recommendations. It gives the place a warm and inviting feel. Out of everything I tried, the cupcakes and cinnamon buns stood out the most. The cupcakes were moist and flavourful, and the cinnamon buns, while on the thicker side, were still enjoyable and satisfying. If you prefer a lighter texture, the buns might be a bit dense for your taste, but they’re still worth trying. One item I wasn’t too keen on was the red velvet cake. Unfortunately, it didn’t have much flavour and mostly tasted like food colouring, which was a bit of a letdown. That said, there’s definitely a lot to like here, and I’d happily come back to try more.

Lovely little spot in Bole with a cozy vibe and friendly service. They have a great selection of cinnamon rolls—definitely the highlight! The americano wasn’t really my favorite, but everything else made up for it. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and love pastries.

Came to try the cinnamon roll. The roll was what I was expecting, the “frosting” was just straight up frothed milk. Cupcake tasted close enough to red velvet though dry. Macchiato was an Addis Ababa macchiato. It’s a cute place to sit, have your morning coffee in the sun, and people watch.

I had the lasagna and a red velvet cupcake for dessert. The lasagna sheets were so dry... just cause you drown it in sauce, it doesn't make it fresh. Pray I don't get sick from it. And the cupcake was saved by the icing...otherwise completely tasteless! The 2 stars are for the machiato and the service.

I hit the jackpot, not only with the curry sauce, but with the fast and attentive service. This is very dear to me. I would be sent to ask if we may stand someone the real Indian food. I was just wondering if the biliyani, which was somehow localised in Ethiopian flavour, tasted of chilli with green peppers. I been in Adis since 3 days. Have had food in 3 different Indian restaurants. Jewel of India is the "Bestest authentic" Indian restaurant i came across. It's very cosy with Indian touch in decor. Food variety n preparation is just like any best 5 star Indian restaurants. I ate chat first dish n i was floored. Owners Ms Puja is very smiling friendly enterprising young lady. She meets n takes care of each guest. Met few local Ethiopian n they said they love the taste of Indian food served here. I would recommend every one to atleast visit once to know authentic Indian food in adis. Must order n drink masala Chai.

I’ve been a somewhat regular customer at Jewel of India for about 4 years. Some days I crave a good thali, so I stop here for lunch. Between the complimentary appetizers and the thali itself, I always leave stuffed. Today I ordered the chicken biriyani to change things up a little. The taste and the spice level were perfect. The food was on the spicier side, but not so bad as to make the meal intolerable. And that’s what the yogurt is there for. 😁 The owner is also friendly, hospitable, and accommodating. It’s good to eat at a place where you’re valued as a customer and not taken for granted.

Right when you come in you will be greeted by friendly staff. The place is beautiful and the apatizers are amazing. The only problem I had was there were too many delicious dishes to choose between. It is hard to believe the price considering the quality and variety of food available.

I had a wonderful experience at a fine dining establishment in Addis Ababa, which offered delicious Indian cuisine. The chef was accommodating with custom orders, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the only drawback was that the sweets were spoiled. I ate a gulab jamun, which made me ill. I noticed it immediately and only ate one, but it was enough to upset my stomach. The hotel should review its food safety procedures, particularly regarding shelf life monitoring.

We had dinner at shaheen and it is easy to say, it is the best restaurant in Addis. Food is really authentic and they were flexible to reduce the spiciness of food. Yosef helped with amazing recommendations, Yedidya was very supportive and chef Tekleberhan made sure that food was as per order and he visited our table to ensure our satisfaction. The restaurant has an amazing ambience and seating and it is managed by a very professional team

This intimately small and dimly lit restaurant (my new standard for top-notch Indian eateries) is tucked away in the Addis Sheraton. Shaheen did justice to the basics: palak paneer, a prawn curry, tandoori chicken and that naan(!) We clearly ordered far more than our stomachs could consume, but regret none of it. Our waiter, Daniel, was a gentleman; he gave us solid menu recommendations and even had the chef come out to say hello after we had waived our white flag. This meal met, and then surpassed any expectations. The entire experience left a strong impression - so lingering that I'm writing this review almost a year later.

The hotel sheraton, addis ababa was amazing . The ambiance of hotel was great. Who would have thought indian food would taste this good. I got a chance to eat indian food made by chef kurshid khan chef suggested the good food which tasted a whole lot better than the rumour I HAVE heard about indian food! Ahh! Shaheen restaurant is the absolute best. My experience starts with my little family celebrating dinner for my son joining University and my reservation which was properly booked. The food was mouthwatering and the ambience and comfort of the place ideal. The restaurant has a home feel and the subtle Indian music playing in thr background exotic and mystic. Staff are very cordial,accommodating and friendly. They really make you feel relaxed and at home. Finally the head chef even comes out and ask for your comment. The restaurant when knowing about our occasion regretted they would have prepared something special (may be a cake) in celebration..in general ,it was a very much heartwarming and unforgettable experience . In the 3-4 times I went over to the restaurant, it always been an excellent experience

This is a beautiful restaurant and we enjoyed being there. The food was just OK or average. I got chicken Alfredo, mushroom soup, insalata and my wife got the lasagna and ceasar salad. We expected better. The only thing really good was my basic insalata salad. We went back again for the beautiful atmosphere and got Spaghetti bolognese and the another insalata. Still just average food except for the salad served in a crispy tortilla bowl.

I absolutely absolutely love Stagioni! The vibes are great, and the ambiance is so welcoming. It’s the perfect spot to hang out with friends or family. The food is incredible—every dish I've tried so far has been delicious! Highly recommend it! 🤩🤩🤩

It was pleasant ☺️ to spend our today's family dinner @STAGIONI !! The vibe was amazing and the chairs were almost full. We had a panino lolipop, inside out cheese burger and spaghetti napolitana from the kids menu and Lasagna and Salmon from the home menu. The food was super delicious specially the salmon and the Lasagna were amazing!! In addition to the taste, the portion of the food were perfect. Now we are going to taste their desserts at the hotel lobby 🍨 🥧 🍦 🍡 🍧 🍩 🍨 🥧

Tried their weekend lunch buffet and greatly disappointed.. foods were just mediocre and sushi seems very questionable I didnt even try. Considering the price, I would go other hotels. But I must say I love the atmosphere here.

Dry nike perch, yes those nuggets you see on the picture are touted as nile perch on the menu, they dont tell you its not a full fish. Fish is as super dry, a veggie side means one carrot slice, one broccoli, one cauliflower qnd one baby marrow slice and a flat tasting mashed potatoes side. Zero value for money.

The first time I had dinner the service was awesome, so on this Fasika I come in for lunch , and not only was the waiter quarrelsome, treating us as if we do not know what we want. The portions were reduced and the funghi trifolati lacked the creamy consistency and looked like stir fried mushrooms..... Not coming back. You want to come try coming in at night

The food is very well prepared. The service is exceptional and all the staff friendly. The lasagna is not traditional as you would get in Europe or the USA, but has its own unique blend of tomato sauce with more cheese and ground beef. Very nice.

I’ve been going to Avanti for years bc its been a family favorite. Their food has always been consistent. Their service is always impeccable, their waitstaff have been trained very well. Some of their portioning is a little weird, their raviolis are quite small and I don’t think is worth the price, but their other pastas are fairly sized portions.

my favorite italien restaurant in addis abeba! the dimmed light and the interior created an amazing ambience, the waiters are very friendly and professional and the food is soooo tasty! l had the mushroom soup, the baked tortellini (which l recommend everybody who loves cream-sauce) and the cream-caramel. everything was perfect! thanks to the avanti-staff for making my evening, l enjoyed a lot!

I asked for pasta with a little bit of everything and boy did they deliver! Fantastico! The staff was incredibly professional and the atmosphere inside was reminiscent of fine dining back in the 50s with a piano and variety of whines. If you enjoy Italian food this place is a must (after 7pm is perfect). Great for a date or anything worth remembering.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Bole is called Medhane Alem Church. The grounds are very spacious and attractive, and the church building is built with a very impressive modern design. The interior is especially beautiful and heart-warming. It is primarily a place to find our God when we are lost and worried. Believe me, if you go there and pray, your prayers will be heard and your life will be blessed.

Gallani is an exceptional establishment that offers a delightful dining experience. The service, food, and beverages were all of the highest quality. The ambiance of the place is also quite appealing.

An amazing coffee shop, very cool interiors and style. Clearly this was designed which is such a welcoming thing for a cafe. It is great for a casual meeting - inside or outside in the sun. There is plenty of parking outside as well. While i most came here for coffee, the salads are also very tasty.

We love the coffee. It’s nice for home use as well. The cookies are nice too. Their service tho meh … it’s not constant. The place looked beautiful, my pictures doesn’t do it justice. I hope they will fix their service and give priority for customers.

So we went to Addis convention center today and we wanted to buy an ice cream. The lady working there was so rude!!! Very mean! All we asked was to try the ice cream we wanted to try but she literally said "uffff" and rolled her eyes!! Like you're there to serve people CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Galani Coffee offers one of the best atmospheres in Addis Ababa — cozy, elegant, and ideal for both relaxing and getting some work done. The food is excellent, with unique and creative menu options that stand out from typical cafés. However, the service can be slow. After being seated, it often takes a while before someone comes to take your order, which can be a bit inconvenient. Overall, Galani is an excellent spot for coffee, food, and working, especially if you appreciate a calm and stylish environment and don’t mind a relaxed pace of service.

Great place to get some work done and get some coffee. However the service I would argue is in the most terrible services in Addis. It takes ages to place an order - a simple black coffee might take them 10 minutes. And food forget about it. Me and my friend ordered some food it literally took 67 minutes. Yes I kept track.

A calm location to visit if you enjoy coffee. It's also a terrific place to read or study, and you can even bring your laptop and complete work there. Art galleries are also present at this coffee shop. The atmosphere, the service, and of course the meal and coffee we had were all wonderful.

Fendika is an iconic cultural venue with cool arts, music and drinks. It a place you want to go to have a late night out with a group of friends or families. There is Azmari night, cultural dance sessions, Ethio-Jazz, visual art exhibitions, fashion showcases, poetry and many more activities. It was so much fun in my last visits. The gate opens at 1:30 PM (local time). It a place to take foreigners because it's deeply rooted in Ethiopian traditions.

Incredible atmosphere! Go on mondays because that is the day they play the best jazz shows and most people come- but come a bit earlier because it is really crowded and seats get taken at around 8:30 pm. Making this review one year later. Visited July 2024 I had one night to spend in Addis Ababa, and I wasn't going to waste it. I have been an admirer of Ethiopian jazz since my college days, particularly the work of Mulatu Astatke and the Ethiopiques. This is what drew me to visit Fendika Culture Center to see a live performance. The center is a bastion of what jazz means to Ethiopia and Africa as a whole. I will never forget the atmosphere, the walls, the artwork, the people I met that night from Addis, the Ethiopian diaspora, and Jazz enthusiasts from around the world. The performance sent me to cloud nine. This was a place I was hoping to visit again in the future, and I'm sad to learn that the venue I visited no longer is there...I'm hoping Fendika is doing well and makes an even better home. I'm not upset, I'm happy to have at least experienced this once! Thank you.

Great place to experience of sending a modern Ethiopian culture. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday that are performances Monday jamming session was something else! Fantastic stuff! The crowd is very friendly and seems intellectual. There is a small gallery inside plenty of drinks, including tej.

I loved everything about this place from the vibe to the atmosphere. The place to be for afro jazz and cultural music. Ttere was a live band performing that was nothing but amazing. Another thing is I never felt unsafe at any moment. Everyone was friendly and oh I had to pay B100 that goes to the artists. Based on their performance they probably deserved B500.

Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Wait Time: under 30 mins Atmosphere - Super Crowded Fendika is a tourist hotspot with live music, dance sessions and karaoke vibe. Details: We went as a group and had so much fun. It was super crowded and we sat on some chairs on the ground along with other people who looked pretty diverse. There was interactive performances with the fingers coming into the audience and carrying people on stage. It was fun and nice to see the trafitional neck and shoulder dances of Ethiopia Large injeras were served with a hot boiling meat. We ended up on stage winging 'No woman, No cry'.

I don’t go often, but the few times I’ve been to Entoto Park for a morning run were amazing. The air is super fresh, the trails are peaceful, and the views make the whole experience really refreshing. Even if you're not a regular runner, it’s a great place to clear your head and enjoy nature.

It's a nice forest so it's a shame that they are charging people 1000 Birr to be in nature. Many areas of the fence to the North are broken so you can essentially walk in there for free. You can't visit the churches from inside the park. And forget about being able to go back to Addis because the ride sharing apps don't work from the gates. I would give this place a miss if I were you.

Nice hiking option in Addis. Very accessable. There's a dedicated bike lane on the tracks but surprisingly I haven't seen any bikers. Good option for bike renters to start a business here. It's better suited for the park than the expensive high end restaurants found inside, people go there to bike and hike and not spend tons of money on food..

Entity Park has very scenic views and a beautiful and family-friendly park to visit. The restaurant inside offers amazing Ethiopian traditional food, beer, and coffee. This is a must visit in Addis Ababa. Highly recommend a visit.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Entoto Park and was thoroughly impressed by its exceptional facilities and natural beauty. The park is immaculately maintained, easily accessible, and offers a convenient shuttle service to transport guests to various attractions and back to their accommodations. Spending an entire weekend there allowed me to fully appreciate its tranquil atmosphere—peaceful, serene, and surrounded by refreshing greenery and stunning mountain views. The highlight of my stay was the exhilarating zipline experience, which I would highly recommend to any visitor. Entoto Park is truly a remarkable destination for relaxation, adventure, and a breath of fresh air.

Entoto Park is a beautiful green escape in Addis Ababa, with lush forest trails and stunning views of the city, especially early in the morning. The elevation makes for a refreshing walk—I managed about 3 km, though with clearer information I’d have loved to go further. As a visitor, I found the lack of signage and guidance challenging. At the gate, I was only told about the entrance fee, with no map, rules, or trail details. Even inside, the maps were worn out and staff simply told me to “walk until the restaurant.” For a tourist, this can feel unsettling, especially with construction ongoing. My advice: prepare in advance by checking which entrance you’ll use, download a map if you can, and go with company or a trusted local driver. If you don’t speak Amharic, having a driver or guide who speaks English makes the experience much easier. Still, the walk itself was energizing, and it ended on a high note with breakfast at Kuriftu Resort Restaurant inside the park. The food and coffee were excellent, and the service from my waitress, Roman, was outstanding. Overall, Entoto Park is worth visiting for its natural beauty and views of Addis—just go prepared, and you’ll enjoy the peace and cleansing energy of the forest

I liked the overall outside appearance of it. To be honest, I haven't been inside, so I can't say what it's like on the inside. Great structure is what I can say, for now. Hope to review it more someday after seeing the inside.

Grand Anwar Mosque is located in Merkato, in Arada district of Addis Ababa. It was built by the Italian government around 1922. The mosque is the largest and one of the oldest mosques (masjid) in Addis Ababa. The mosque has unique architecture with white and green colors. After the Italians left unfinished, Muslims collected money to resume the construction. When the construction completed, 16,000 ETB were not paid to the contractor, which led to closure for couple of days by court order. The mosque then reopened as an individual covered payment. During fasting periods, thousands of people gather in the mosque compound and man can carry incense to smell inside the mosque. A portable podium placed to the middle of green pillars supporting the white outer walls and domes that form spectacular façade of the mosque.

So nice, is the biggest mosque among the Mosques found around Merkato, even from Most mosques in Addis Ababa. It has wide enough parking area. It has two areas builded. The first the main mosque which has. An attached feamale's praying hall and the second a G+2 building. There are few trees in the compound.The compound is neat and comfortable to pray.The Mosque is incircled by so many shops.

A beautiful green garden hidden behind a school features many thoroughly labeled plant species and also showcases a vegetable garden planted by the students. The beautiful mud houses have a modern blend to them. My only concern is that the park lacks extensive signs showing directions on what to see and where to go, which means visitors might not get the full experience.

Absolutely amazing and beautiful! It's a great getaway from the Hustle and bussle of Addis Ababa. Colourful flowers, queit, serene scenery with walk paths, bridges, tree canopy, and more. My wife and I loved feeling the breeze, listening to the birds, seeing the animals, and relaxing at the mud house.

I love this place! The most tranquil place in the heart of a super busy city. The trees and the gardens just relax you. So many native plants including fruit trees and coffee plants...I enjoyed the cafe for almost 3 hours before coming back to the crazy traffic refreshed. :) Check out their K-6 school that is next door where the kids are exposed to gardening and raising animals and connecting them to nature. An awesome concept and I hope for the success of this unique place.

A refreshing place with amazing view of different herbs and vegetables. You will see an artistic very detailed mud houses the you won’t probably see in other places. They also have sheep, goat, chicken and cattle farms. It is a good place if you need to have a quiet place with the plants. You only pay 150 birr for entrance. You relate not allowed to take in water or any food inside.

I come here at least once a week! Burger is always on good and service is great if you sit downstairs. Upstairs is often neglected. But there's always this one waiter who opens my walia beer bottle and takes the cap with him. It's all good tho.

Still in search of the elusive good hamburger in Addis Ababa. Had heard good things about Roomi Burger so had high hopes. Same flavourless and dry bun that plagues hamburgers across this city.

I had the chicken salad which was very filling and tasty. My companions had the burger - it looked good with home cooked fries.

Union offers a mixed dining experience. The Indian Butter Chicken was flavorful and satisfying, and the Fish with Mashed Potato was well-prepared. The Pasta Pomodoro, however, was just average. Unfortunately, the Steak with Mashed Potato was disappointing; the meat was overly chewy and the sauce lacked depth, leaving the dish flat.

I ordered the chocolate cake from this restaurant, and honestly, it was a huge disappointment. The cream on the cake was completely frozen—as if it had been sitting in the freezer for days. It wasn’t soft, smooth, or fresh like proper cake cream should be; biting into it was more like biting into a block of ice. The cake was served with cocoa syrup, but unfortunately, that didn’t save it. The syrup felt icy and unnatural, not rich and velvety like it should be. The ingredients clearly weren’t handled properly—the cream and cocoa topping should have been fresh and at the right temperature, not rock solid. On top of that, the atmosphere was unbearable. They were playing two completely different tracks at the same time—one inside, one outside. The space isn’t large, so the music collided into a chaotic, loud mess, making it nearly impossible to have a conversation. It’s not that you can’t hear the music and enjoy it; it’s that the way it was played was jarring, distracting, and just plain disturbing. For a chocolate cake experience, you expect soft, moist cake, fresh creamy frosting, and a pleasant environment. Instead, this visit was a mix of frozen dessert and auditory chaos. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a calm, enjoyable dining experience.

I was served by Anteneh Tesfaye and he is such an amazing person. Look for him whenever you pop in here. Has good English and understands instructions clearly. Always ready to serve you to your best. Dilu the manager is also very hospitable and caring.

I had such a great time dining here! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive; the staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The cocktails were top-notch — creative, well-balanced, and easily some of the best I’ve had in Addis. A special shout-out to our waiter Endale who was fantastic — professional, welcoming, and really knew the menu. The manager (Dilu) checked in to make sure we were enjoying everything, which was a really nice touch. The bartender (Eyuel) was great cocktail not only for us but for the entire Resturant. Food is always on point! Been here quite a few times and it's always good. The service is good too but can be very slow at times. For some reason the servers tend to congregate around the cashier and stay there for a while, and I don't think it's just waiting for a receipt but the receipt is always the excuse for the delay. This has made me mad a couple of times, especially when I was in a rush. Other than that, I always recommend this place for traditional Ethiopian breakfast.

Chaka is a great spot especially to grab some breakfast. The competitive edge for places specializing in breakfasts is, tic-tok, time and Chaka is well in this! Orders arrive pretty fast! Their food is also delicious, tried the special foul, scrambled eggs with meat and oh, their yoghurt is yummy. The vibe on weekends is nice if enjoy crowds...a breakfast feast😋

Really good place for an Ethiopian breakfast. Their chechebsa is really good, can't complain about the fetira. Macchiato was great. Also liked the place. Indoor and outdoor space. Nice green areas. Even though there was a lot of people coming in and out service was very good and fast.

Another rare place in Addis with a nice greenery. Usually crowded for breakfast. But, only four stars because there is something wrong with their coffee for me. It's very strong and tests a little burnt. (My personal opinion)

A perfect getaway from the weeks hectic days. A beautiful scenery, amazing view and different atmosphere. Perfect place to hike do picnic and with children playground. It's just refreshing. We also tried the pottery class which needs to be booked in advance. Mama Shekla (Mamas Pottery) is just a fun class for kids and adults. There is plenty of parking and sitting area. The bathrooms need work and can be improved. Definitely recommended.

I have a chance to come over this place, it was honestly breathtaking. It was the best camping I’ve ever had. We called ahead and made sure everything was in order. Our tents, parking space, and security was provided by them. I highly suggest doing the same. They made sure our privacy and safety was kept. There are boars, hyenas and leopards within the place. We got to see all except leopards. So don’t go unless you’re ready to see the wild animals at random time of the day and night. But as an overall experience it was a magical night followed with some hiking. I highly recommend!!

It's a garden! I think this is one of those places that's a fantastic green oasis if you live here... but if you're visiting, it's a bit like, uh, a garden just like many others in the world. Nice flowers, places to walk, green grass. We saw heaps of people doing photo shoots for birthdays and weddings. Lovely that Addis has some green refuge, but for a visitor experience, Entoto is much more unique and worth the trip.

The space of the garden is very large but most of it is forest. The forest is beautiful and has some lovely hiking trails, but you must ask at the reception for a guide, as it's not considered safe. ( not sure if it's hyenas, or bandits, or both!) The central part of the garden has a parking and as of october 2025 they seem to be installing some new public toilets that are not yet open. There are grassy areas which are very popular during wedding season for brides and their bridesmaids to take photos. It's also nice place just have a picnic. Apparently a restaurant should be opening in the near future. Overall, the park has tremendous potential if they improve the infrastructure. In the meantime, the air is clear there is greenery, the forest is beautiful and peaceful, and in good weather there are usually friendly people there taking photos and making videos.

Absolutely stunning area, 50 birr per person entrance. We took a pottery class here, such a calm and welcoming area. Lots to explore and great parking.

This is my favourite place im Addis, Massive protected area, mountain top and full of nature reserve. Most of the place is low in human trafic and quite. I recommend some infrastructure such as toilets, guides and break places... but for the time being, I love it as it is.

A beautiful way to experience Ethiopian culture but not without its risks. You can find lovely trinkets, insense, spice, fresh produce & lots of locally produced goods. The market has many people looking for an opportunity so keep your belongings out of sight. It is chaotic, massive crowds & narrow paths with high traffic. You need very comfortable walking shoes due to uneven ground & be weary of surroundings. Many people walking past with heavy loads of metal, steel pipes etc, it's easy to hurt if you are not mindful. Vehicle also make a route through these narrow ways. The experience can be quite overwhelming if you're not prepared for it.

What is Merkato? Merkato (Amharic: መርካቶ) is a massive open-air market in the Addis Ketema district of Addis Ababa. It is often cited as one of Africa’s largest open-air markets, spanning many square kilometers and involving thousands of vendors. The name “Merkato” itself comes from the Italian “mercato” (meaning “market”). History & Evolution The present location was largely established during the Italian occupation (1936–1941). Under segregationist policies, local vendors were moved from earlier marketplaces (e.g. near St. George Church) into the area that became Merkato. Initially, the “St. George Mercato” was reserved for Europeans, and Arab merchants were pushed westward; over time, local Ethiopian traders gradually came to dominate the market by the 1960s. The market grew organically (without strict planning), expanding in all directions, and developed many specialized “zones” (for spices, electronics, metals, textiles, etc.).

One of the few 'good' places in Addis for a pizza break☺. I have known this place for 6+ years and it's still is good as before. The Atmosphere is peaceful & the prices are mostly affordable. (They have given unique & somewhat funny names for their pizza and other foods on their menu....enjoy😄)

Why do you offer chicken sandwich if it has barely any chicken in it? The small pizza... Should be called tiny pizza. The crust is so thin could almost be see through. The price is sky high. I don't recommend.

I came to Addis in Jan 2021 and my friend treated me to a pizza in Effoi which is located just outside UNECA and near several hotels (Elily and Nigist). On my first visit, I made a wrong order as the menu was confusing for me, the pizza was still great and I took half as takeaway. Since then I have made several visits to this restaurant and often order my favorite: Effoi pizza which is a margherita pizza with herbs and I have a cold soft dring or hot mint tea (cost is around $5 in 2021). I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant event though you might not be near the area - it is definitely worth a visit.

I am a fan of their Machiato Espresso and the way serve it make it ice on cake. I cannot ignore their interior design unique and simple. Where ever i go i miss their coffee test. One thibg I also need to mention is they sell a processed coffee too. If you are a coffee fan grab one from their shelf.

Where to begin? This quaint little spot takes me back to my college days—only a lot more ratchet. I don’t mean that in a bad way; it’s just Ethiopia, the crowd, and the vibe. The food? It’s well-prepared, but you can tell the ingredients are low quality—not that I’m complaining. They’ve got to cut costs to keep those prices student-friendly, and honestly, I respect the hustle. Plus, their BBQ mayo? Spot. On. Now, about the meat… let’s just say it’s questionable. One of my friends swears it’s basically bush meat—pun fully intended, of course. But hey, they’re catering to high school and college kids, not the crowd who drops 1,300 birr on a mini bagel-sized burger at Sishu. My satire aside, I like it. It’s its own thing. Sure, the food isn’t gourmet, but it gets the job done. And for you young folks, the place is packed with pretty girls. Try your luck! As for me? I’m too old for this scene. I’ll be sticking to takeout—preferably enjoyed at home, where I can eat in peace without feeling like the oldest person in the room.

Decent burgers, the patties might be just a tad bit under-seasoned besides that everything was great, love their sauce selection.

I wish they had more options of burger like chicken or fish. The taste of the meat was a bit weird 😕. I didn't like it at all. Wish they used a different spice to make it better. The only positive is the price. Their price is very reasonable for the size of the burger. I suggest you go try it and be the judge since I'm too picky with my burgers.

I have had “the best burgers” in Addis, this by far beats them all. It’s no thrills, and just a few options but quality over quantity. I ordered a second burger after my first it was so delicious.

Small place this is my second visit to this burger restaurant, the burgers taste amazing when the female chef prepared them but with the male chef now I can't say it's excellent but it's very good nonetheless, the portion is small but it is fair according to the price. The service is also excellent.

I loved the place and the diversity of animals they had, it would be amazing if they increased the number of spices, in general I loved everything.

I just had an awesome time, learning a lot about different species; the reptiles, birds and butterfly's section was my favourite.

It is a good place to place educational trips with family or with friends. The entrance fee is almost zero, free parking space,lots of animal bodies to discover, .... Check out the place if u can

Really happy to see it once again after 22 years. Eventhough, much has not changed, I am grateful that it is still open for the public. My kids loved it. I hope in the future, this museum would also benefit from technological facilities like the new museums currently being built. Also, the museum deserves a larger space to display as well as expand. We, the greatest threats, can still do more as warranted by the amazing message at the exit of the museum.

Natural History Museum, Addis Ababa Natural History Museum was founded in 1955. Since then, it has been the only natural history museum in Ethiopia. It is housed in the Science Faculty Department of the University of Addis Ababa. You can see about 1100 species of African animals. These were collected by Mr. S. Patrizi at the time of the Italian occupation. Other university staff and students contributed to it as well. You can learn more about indigenous wildlife in Africa and Ethiopian fauna while visiting this museum.

Best place to visit . It is found inside Addis Ababa university , College of natural and computational science compound . Several wild animals are found reserved ( killed and dried ) It has entrance fee For regular students (AAU students ) and children - 5 birr For adult Ethiopians - 15 birr For foreigners - 100 birr If you want to record and take a picture you have to pay another fee . But all the payments are totally worth it . I RECOMMEND YOU TO VISIT THIS PLACE .

The place was small and cozy. Relatively friendly waiters and security staff. Cocktails were not as expected. They lacked the essentials. Music was 50/50. Dj lacked experience. Other than that the club was well lit, well aerated and clean toilets.

Huge park with well-maintained walking and cycling pathways. Very nice natural break from the noise and dust of Addis Ababa. Food, snacks, coffee, etc. available throughout the park. Also, some good cafes and restaurants at the other end, you need to walk around an hour from the main gate to reach there with beautiful walking as the path map I posted with this review. The other way back to the main gate takes more than an hour with different things to see. Admission is 1000 Birr for foreigners. And it's crowded on weekends and holidays.

I find a stop at Entoto Park interesting. Entoto Park has a nice outlook (platform) to have a great view of Addis Ababa. There is also a telescope for magnified views of the city. There is no entrance (admission) fee to visit Entoto Park. But, make sure you have your passport or identity card with you. You leave your passports/IDs at the entrance when you get a visitors neck badge. After your visit, you will get your passports/IDs back. If you want to have enjoyable and relaxed visit of Entoto Park, avoid visiting it on weekends (Sat and Sun) as it is full of crowds and it is difficult to get a good parking place if you are driving. Have a pleasant visit!

Great place to go away from the city's hustle bustle and relax. Lots of activities for family with a very well maintained rest area. I especially loved how they're able to reuse the cut trees for bench, tables and bathrooms doors . Can't say more just go and see! Wonderful place to be and witness our beloved country's transformation ...great job all who participated in this project.

The service at Pik(main restaurant) is excellent! The staff are extremely polite and very attentive, especially SELAM who goes above and beyond to provide a wonderful eating experience!

Gorgeous park with a view of Addis. Multiple restaurants and coffee shops throughout. Also has other activities: horseback riding, ropes course, go karts, archery, paintball.

Nice urban park. A few miles of well-maintained tarmac walking and cycling trails. A nice break from the grit and noise of Addis Ababa that all feels like being sort of in nature, but without having to go very far. Admission is free (you just need to show ID). Food, coffee, beer, etc. available at cafes and restaurants throughout. Can be crowded on weekends and holidays.

Really nice park especially with your little ones. Entrance is 10 birr per person which is fair and there is wow burger in there also for snacks and refreshments. It is just a shame we had to wait all those years to experience it since it was closed for a long time and you can see even the wood bridges are old now without anybody experiencing the park in it's most anticipated expected timing. Nonetheless, a good place to take some fresh air and read or bring your little ones on weekends

I knew this place with the name Addis Ababa park.

This place used to be one of the nicest Cafes in Addis. But now it’s come to be like the simple tea houses you find just around the corner in a random village in Addis. Besides, parking is terrible!

I did not see waffles or pancakes on the menu. The staff did not know what I was talking about. Coffee was good.
