Seriously good food. “Soul food”. I love this place - delicious food cooked really really well. Pick a small, medium and large plate and then choose 4,5,6 options from the buffet! The slow cooked pomegranate beef cheeks win for me every time. Can get busy but the table turn over is quick and SO worth the wait.

I love this concept. The food was delicious, and being able to construct the perfect meal was such a treat. I only eat small portions, so had the chicken and one serving of kumara gratin (so good!) for dinner, and asked for a double serve of lentils in a takeaway container to hang for breakfast. Lovely service. Beautiful kai. Will priced and accommodating :) Oh, and the sticky date pudding - it was outrageous in its glory! Abd soda water on tap :)

If you’re in the area do yourself a favour and go to this amazing place. Food is so good! Specially the beef cheeks and the sweet potatoes. Be prepared to line up and maybe share a table because it gets busy.

My dad and I were visiting from Australia and heard about this place on TikTok. We stayed at Wanaka for 2 nights, tried it the first night and immediately made plans to go again the second night. The customer service was great and we loved the concept of the ‘buffet’ style. We got the medium sized plates which were the perfect portion of food. The food was top notch quality and you didn’t feel the full gross feeling after when you normally eat out. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains as well!

Many great and healthier options available here compared to other places in the area! A variety of salad options, but only two meat options. We ordered the medium bowl which was $24- a little steep coming from Australia! You are only allowed one serving of meat out of your options. Additional servings of meat comes at an additional charge, FYI! We found the food a touch bland and dry. If we were to dine in, I probably would've helped myself to some salt/pepper. Otherwise it was delicious!

If I could give it more stars I would. The BEST meal after 10 days traveling the south island. The beef cheek, broccoli salad, and butterbean stew were perfect. Busy restaurant but it is obvious why at 12pm on a Sunday during a local craft fair in the park. Shared tables made for a fun social experience. Wished we had stayed in Wanaka longer to go back! Edited to add: i love the no single use coffee cups and that they discount your food if your bring your own take-away container!!

This place is amazing!! My husband and I had lunch here 8 years ago and fell in love - it's just as wonderful 8 years later. Super wholesome, nutritious, tasty, interesting food with a "mix and match" selection style. Fantastic for vegetarians like me. Salads that are as delicious as their companions. Slow cooked meat for the meat eaters. So good I ate here 2 nights in a row!

We tried all the popular restaurants in Wanaka and this one is definitely the best! We had an amazing birthday meal and the service was excellent. The servers were attentive and very friendly. It is located on top of a small hill so if you can have a table next to the window you'll have the best view of the lake and mountains in town. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious so you can comfortably enjoy the great food. Hightlights were the swordfish and beef tartare as starters, the venison and the beef as mains and the seasonal rhubarb for dessert! Thank you to the chefs and the wait staff for an unforgettable evening! ☺️

We had dinner at Bistro Gentil tonight and honestly, it was the best meal we’ve had on this trip — hands down. This French gem in Wānaka delivered on every level. We went with the Trust the Chef 4-course menu, and it was the perfect choice. Every dish that came out was beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and full of flavour. It felt like the kitchen was telling a story, and we were lucky enough to sit and listen. A special mention goes to the lamb — and I say this as someone who almost never eats lamb. It was unbelievably tender, full of depth, and cooked to perfection. I’m still thinking about it. The setting is elegant but relaxed, and the service was warm, knowledgeable, and just the right level of attentive. If you’re in Wānaka and looking for a dinner that feels like an experience, not just a meal — this is the place.

Bistro Gentil is an absolute gem — refined, relaxed, and quietly exceptional. Nestled just outside central Wanaka, with sweeping views of Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps, it offers not just a meal, but an experience. The menu is thoughtful and seasonal, balancing French inspiration with the best of Central Otago produce. Every dish was beautifully plated, full of flavour, and executed with precision. The wine list is equally impressive, with a strong selection of local wines (including their own Maison Gentil label), and pairings that genuinely elevate the meal. Service was warm, knowledgeable, and unpretentious — a rare and welcome combination. You never feel rushed, only genuinely looked after. Bistro Gentil is the kind of place where time slows down. Whether you’re there for a sunset dinner, or just a glass of wine overlooking the vines, it’s a spot you won’t soon forget. Highly recommended.

We went with the Trust the Chef four course menu at Bistro Gentil, and it was mind blowing! Easily the best meal we had in New Zealand. The restaurant was really cozy, and the service was impeccable. A must-do if you're ever in Wanaka!

Amazing! Loved this cozy restaurant setting. Heating and blankets supplied. Was husbands desired place for his 50th birthday and the food was so good. I have some dietary requirements and the staff were so lovely and accommodating. Red wine I ordered from a Wanaka estate was delicious too. Highly recommend! Parking is at the back. They were kind enough to let me bring in a vegan carrot cake too that was specially made for the birthday.

Absolutely amazing! I was there last night for a staff dinner, there were 15 of us. To keep things easy we chose the 4 courses for $65pp. The kitchen was able to accommodate dietaries and the food came out smoothly. No wait at all and every course was served for everyone at the same time. Delicious food plus we were well looked after by the front of house team. Definitely affordable for the experience you get. Highly recommend!

Really friendly staff. We were allowed to sip the beer for free before deciding which ones we prefer. There is a tasting set where you have a choice of 4 beers for nzd$25. We had Joy rider, fruity patootie, big banana and limoncello. One can order from Now Bao if you need a snack. Can use credit card with no extra charge too.

Stopped in to check out Rhyme x Reason and grabbed a tasting paddle. Every beer tasted good and it wasn’t the hit-and-miss you sometimes get with craft. The onsite food van served tasty bites, there’s plenty of seating, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a great place to visit when in Wānaka and would visit again.

A really great little brewery with some fun beers and spritz'. A really nice atmosphere and nice staff. The food truck was pretty good as well.

Dropped into Rhyme x Reason with my wife and daughter and it was honestly one of the best afternoons of our trip. The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home straight away. The beer was next level — fresh, full of flavour and exactly what you’d hope for from a brewery making it all on site. Voyage to Nectaron was a standout for me, and my wife was stoked with the limoncello spritz. We grabbed food from Now Bao and the bao buns were unreal, probably some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Soft, packed with flavour and a perfect match for the beers. It’s just a fun, relaxed spot with a great vibe. If you’re in Wanaka, make sure you swing past for a sneaky pint (or two)

Alex and Rosie are the two most valuable members of the team in my worldly opinion. I really cannot recommend the limoncello spritz enough. Drank so much (to the appropriate level) and the next day I genuinely smelt the roses with a smile. No hangover, I don’t know how it works. But as Nike or whatever said, just do it.

Great beer, great staff, great atmosphere. Really liked the range of beers and variety of flavours. Good mix of limited run stuff and their usual brews. I particularly liked the Black Lips Porter, the West Coast IPA and also a limited run Hazy that I can't remember the name of. Maybe it was called something like "Mad About Cows". Apparently it wasn't meant to be a Hazy but a brewing mistake meant they had to label it as such. What ever they did it tasted good!

Stopped by for drinks and a meal and had a great time! We ordered the BLT with grilled chicken and had cheesecake for dessert—both were absolutely delicious. The beer was great too! The person behind the bar was super friendly and informative, which made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be back!

Situated at the corner of the intersection, plenty of seats and cozy warm inside. Staff here are very friendly. Variety is a little limited in my opinion, but for most, you should find suitable food for a good meal.

Wow, wow, wow, As we have come from Australia to see, experience New Zealand, and the food. We were walking passed the Lake Bar and witness some plates of food crossing our path. We had to give it a go. We chose Greenlip Mussels and Roasted Vegetable Salad with Grilled Chicken, was our choice. The service was exceptional, Finn, and Joe went above and beyond. I would come all the way back. Highly recommend!

There is a great lake view and the staff is very friendly. The BLT plus chicken is deliciously heavy on the chicken. It is also mostly dark meat. The Beef Burger is average - definitely not bad. The fries are a great compliment.

The ribs here are in my top; tender, tasty, big… The fish and chips was also fantastic, but I clearly recommend the ribs

I had dinner at Kika Wakana tonight, with a booking at 8:15 PM, and have just left the restaurant. Our group of six chose the “Just Feed Me” menu ($95 per person), which meant we had no prior knowledge of the dishes we would be served, as everything was left entirely to the chef’s selection and creativity. We were genuinely looking forward to a delightful dining experience, but unfortunately, we were left completely disappointed. The sequence of dishes lacked coherence in terms of flavor, and there seemed to be no thoughtful flow or connection between them. Most notably, the lamb dish, which was intended to be the highlight of the meal, was also the worst. Although it was supposed to be slow-cooked, it was then over-roasted, resulting in meat that was both dry and tough. The accompanying roasted potatoes were also overcooked, making them dry and hard—almost inedible. It felt as though, because we were one of the last bookings of the evening and had chosen the “Just Feed Me” menu, the kitchen simply served us whatever was left. Please respect the palate of your guests. We chose the “Just Feed Me” option because we trusted the chef’s taste and creativity—not because we wanted to be randomly stuffed with whatever was available. I strongly recommend others think carefully before choosing the “Just Feed Me” menu. I am giving this feedback 1 star, as there’s no option for half a star.

It stands out as one of the finest iterations of the dish I've encountered and is an absolute must-order. The main courses continued this high standard. The fried chicken was notably succulent with a shatteringly crisp, well-seasoned crust, while the spinach and ricotta Gnudi offered a study in delicate contrast—the pillowy-soft dumplings melting away against a savoury sauce. A well-curated dessert and digestif list provided a strong finish. The limoncello was a bright, zesty palate-cleanser, a fitting end to the rich meal. Kika’s beverage program is another significant strength, boasting an extensive and thoughtfully assembled wine list alongside a notably large and diverse draft beer selection, sure to satisfy any preference. Verdict: Kika successfully delivers a complete package of superb food, a dynamic atmosphere, and excellent service. It is a standout destination in Wanaka that confidently earns a strong recommendation.

Innovative delicious food, and good service. We had the Tuna tataki, cloudy Bay clams with spring onion rolls, NZ wagyu short rib and crispy potatoes with balsamic Mayo. Atmosphere is fine except that it was a bit noisy. Overall, it was good experience.

Highly recommend Kika at Wanaka (2 hats). The food was delicious with some surprises. The restaurant was full on a Tuesday night so it did get quite noisy. We didn't have a booking and the staff were able to accommodate a walk in. The short ribs and potatoes had quite large serving sizes so I would avoid if you aren't too hungry.

We chose the feed me menu. Each dish was a work of art and absolutely delicious. It is one of the best dining experiences I have had and the service was exceptional. Highly recommend

We were a group of 4 vegetarians dining at KiKa, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. We ordered 2 kombucha, 1 entrée, 2 mains, 4 sides, and 2 desserts — and thoroughly enjoyed every single bite. The highlight was when the chef thoughtfully created a surprise vegetarian main just for us, since the menu had only one vegetarian option. That gesture made the evening extra special. As food enthusiasts, we loved discussing each dish in detail, savoring the flavors and presentation. Our parents, visiting us from India, summed it up best: “We’d like to compliment the chef by kissing his hands!” That’s how satisfied and delighted we were. We were served by a fantastic young man (travelling NZ for a year from Europe), who along with the rest of the front-of-house team added warmth, energy, and happiness to the already rustic and inviting ambiance of KiKa. We also celebrated Dad’s birthday, and the staff went the extra mile by bringing candles on the dessert — such a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable. Had a delicious feed me dinner here; which I highly recommend. We did the wine and beer pairing and it was delicious and paired very very well on all the flavour notes. For what you receive the price is reasonable and trust me the food will blow you away. Eloise was our waiter and she was lovely.

Great food and service. We came in twice on different days - on the first, they were kind enough to serve us 30 mins before closing time. We were craving toast and they made it for us despite it not being on the menu. Scones were served with an extremely generous helping of clotted cream and jam. We knew we had to come back the next day and it was one of the best decisions made this trip - seafood chowder was amazing. Smoothies were great, too!

A lovely hidden gem our friend led us to last weekend, so glad we got to try this wee spot. The coffee was delicious! Food was tasty/a little pricey. I tried the Mexican madness breakfast dish. Generous with the potatoes and avocado, I think it would be good with a little chorizo to make it have more flavor. I'd come back and try other menu items 😊

This was a super cute breakfast spot tucked away. The food was pretty quick and I would say the prices were reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful to us especially when I poured my water all over myself and the floor 😭. I would definitely recommend coming here for a peaceful breakfast in wanaka.

Warm and welcoming on a wet Wānaka morning. Scrambled egg with a side of bacon hit the spot. Well worth the detour of the main road and down the alleyway.

Loved our experience here! My friends and I decided to go for some pizza’s and garlic bread and it was delicious. The bread was homemade with delicious garlic butter, and the pizzas were very tasty. Recommend trying the half / half option so you can try different flavours! Will definitely be back. Thank you team

Went for dinner while visiting the town. The place looked cozy with a wooden fireplace, which I loved—the smell and the sound of the crackling fire. I ordered soup for an appetizer and pizza. First of all, the pizza arrived right after the soup, with no time in between. The soup was tasty, but at the price of a meal, I found it a bit expensive considering the local currency. But the pizza had no relation to what you would think of as pizza; every topping was fresh, in the sense of being raw. The pizza was super hot; for the first time, I burned my tongue on pizza, but it was not oven-style. There was almost no cheese. It tasted like the individual ingredients, not pizza. I shared the feedback, and they said it's Kiwi-style, but it still wasn't pizza to me.

On a holiday with my partner to NZ and the very first place we went to was here! It set the bar very high with the kind staff and warm welcome. All staff were very kind as they explained things to us and always made sure we were enjoying ourselves. The inside of the restraunt was cozy, warm and old fashioned. Beautiful candle light on every table and an open fire place! Thank you again for a lovely evening!

This place deserves a good review, the food was great, service good. Pizzas huge. Remember one large pizza feeds two people. We ordered 3 for 4 of us and took a whole one home. Order the bread as a started too. This isn't a new trendy pizza place. It is an intuition with pretty much exactly the same menu as when my father brought us here 40 years ago. It's good.

The Cow is our favourite date night spot for obvious reasons! We always start with the half loaf garlic bread then get the mushroom spaghetti and cheese pizza to share. The word "delicious" doesn't do it justice! The music is always top tier, the staff are so lovely and the atmosphere is always on point. Couldn't recommend enough!

Great service! The Her Majesty’s pizza was delicious and huge - easily fed two people. Even had a couple of slices left to enjoy at the mountain summit the next day. Perfect fuel for hiking!

Highly recommend! They have two vegan burrito options! We got the one with mushrooms and enjoyed it! We got a large burrito and fries and both only ate half of our burritos - they’re packed full and its a lot of food.

We stopped by Burrito Craft during our honeymoon in Wanaka and absolutely loved it! The lady taking our order noticed it was our honeymoon and sweetly wrote “happy honeymoon” on our bag — such a kind and thoughtful gesture that made our day. The chicken burrito was incredible — humongous, juicy, and packed with flavor. Easily one of the best we’ve ever had! Amazeballs. Taco combo, one of each- each delicious and unique. The fish crumb and freshness top tier; mushroom, fresh and not too wet or mushy like other places; better delicious. Best chips and seasoning going. Highly recommend, outdoor setting by a creek in the foodtruck precinct

Stopped in at Burritos Craft Wanaka with our teenage kids and while I really enjoy the burrito we often get after a day on the slopes it’s fresh, flavourful, and generous burritos…the service was a big disappointment. The staff didn’t acknowledge customers properly due to its self order screen , no welcome, no eye contact, and when I tried to get my return customer card stamped, no one would even look up. It felt like they just weren’t interested in engaging at all with their customers, which really takes away from what could otherwise be a great spot. If they put a bit more effort into customer service and made people feel valued, this place would be so much better.

We only tried the tacos, but they were absolutely delicious! Three for $23 felt like a fair deal, especially for such a popular town. This little street food corner was overall a great find!

The large burrito for only $2 more than the small is great value if you have a big appetite. Its very satisfying and filling. We had the monkfish which was super tasty and decent amount of fish and the beef which had a lovely smokey flavour. Nice area to sit too

Speight's Ale House in Wanaka is simply excellent! The atmosphere is very comfortable, perfect to enjoy either with friends or as a couple. The variety of beers is impressive — with more than 18 taps, there’s something for every taste, all poured to perfection. The food is just as good: tasty and generous portions, with a special highlight for the nachos, which are amazing! To top it all off, their happy hour is unmissable, with very attractive prices that make the whole experience even better. Highly recommended!

Positives: Excellent craft cocktails, beers and wines. Beautiful and fun, spacious restaurant, with fantastic outdoor spaces. The food: if you order the Lamb Shank, it is excellent, and the other entrees are done. If you are ordering the Eggplant it is the worst Vegetarian entree I have ever experienced. News Flash! Vegetarians should get 20g of protein at each meal, and their food should have some flavor. The eggplant was tasteless, no flavor, on a bed of properly cooked arborio rice that appeared to have tomato in it but also lacked flavor. A restaurant of this quality in all other areas should be able to have two vegetarian selections that are filling and delicious.

Good food and location with convenient parking available. Speight’s Ale house has a restaurant area and a bar area if you want to fit outside it’s you’ll need to order at the bar. The restaurant area has table service. The staff were nice, polite and helpful. I tried the pork belly and the beef so far and my preference is the pork belly. Great variety of beer on tap it’s seating is good for people not eating alone. Overall very good

Food presentation was awesome. We ordered the Steak and also the Nachos with beef and jalapeños. The mash with the steak was absolutely beautiful. So creamy... gave me that homely warm feeling. Steak was a little bit grisly, however nicely cooked. Nachos were good, but I would have wanted more beef because it was an added extra cost and was quite minimal on the plate. Fast friendly service on a Thursday night.

I walked into Speight’s Ale House in Wanaka during their happy hour (4–6pm). I went up to the bar right at 6 o’clock and as I pulled out my phone, the time clicked over to 6:01. Despite me clearly being there at the end of happy hour, the bartender very bluntly refused to honour the deal. I found this really unfriendly and quite unwelcoming — especially in a tourist town like Wanaka where a little hospitality goes a long way. To make things worse, when I sat down to order dinner, I discovered that the menu was completely different to what’s shown on Google. I had my heart set on the bangers and mash, but it wasn’t even available. Overall, I left disappointed and wouldn’t rush back. A little flexibility and friendliness would have made all the difference

Nice place serving 16 draft local beers, hot and cold drinks plus cakes and warm food. The food cabinets by 1.30pm though were a nearly empty so may need to keep ready made meals going longer. Few pies and cakes only left. All the food being prepared though looked fabulous. Would definitely recommend. Easy access for wheel chairs and buggies with seating inside and outside under cover. Enjoy

[ok la] 1) Overall - Cafe with lake view, strategic location, friendly staff, limited seating and do expect queue, cozy atmosphere, food and drink selection are coffee, beer, pizza, baked goods and more from Kai Whakapai Eatery & Craft Beer Bar 2) coffee - aromatic and strong 3) corn fritter - Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside. The corn kernels were juicy and fresh, giving nice bursts of flavor. Lightly seasoned – great as a snack or side dish. Would be even better with a dipping sauce or a bit of spice.

Food was amazing and this place was in a super convenient location. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. The kitchen did forget my food but the staff were super helpful with it and got it sorted for me straight away and also gave me a free drink with it. I would definitely recommend giving it a go if you are in wanaka.

Drawn to this bar due to its vibes, and tried out two of their craft beer! The friendly staff shared his recommendation of Kai Time and Sinker when i asked for 2 light flavoured ones, but ended up getting Kai Time and the Ginger variant since the latter one got me hooked for what it was. 🍺 the Kai beer was quite heavily flavoured, in a way that i could taste the wheat with each sip. The ginger variant tasted very much like a kombucha which was good and pretty light. At 25NZD, it’s not the cheapest ones out there, but definitely a good spot to come by and try out the variety they have while enjoying the spring breeze!

Been here a couple of times, ambience was good. Ordered the gluten-free salmon pizza and loaded fries, everything was okay, but the salmon was a bit dry. Spent about $70, not the cheapest for this level of quality.

Brilliant spot for brunch! The Eggs Benny was absolutely delicious—perfectly poached and full of flavour. Coffee was just as great, smooth and rich. Highly recommend for a relaxed and tasty start to the day!

This restaurant is usually very busy. Great to sit outdoors, facing the lake view to enjoy a lunch. Food standard is acceptable. Staffs were friendly and helpful to provide sharing plates for us.

Really beautiful meal here tonight. Great waitress and lovely food. Atmosphere was great and steak to die for! Only minor thing is that our scallops didn't have the roe on it. We love the roe! Next time we will ask to have it included. Great dining experience. Thankyou very much.

Great and friendly staff. Fish and chips were a little blend, but the pulled pork burger and open steak sandwich was excellent. Roasted garden salad was refreshing.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and the food was spectacular, particularly the salad. There was a mix up with our order and the waitress was quick to correct the issue and was even kind enough to take the meal off our bill. Management clearly care about the customers experience and what they did was very kind. I highly reccommend supporting this business.

All of the food was cooked well, it was just a little bland. Had the fish goujons, which were fried well, but the tartar sauce was below average, the prawns could have used a lot more garlic and salt, and a lot less butter, the ribs fell off the bone, but the sauce needed more zing. The kids meal of chicken tenders was good, and the chips were great. The salad dressing needed an acid.

Good service, the ginger cookie was good but a little too sweet. The cappuccino was good. Nice atmosphere that opens on to street patio. Not too busy at 8 on a Friday.

Nice ambience, great coffee. The Turkish eggs however, really need to be either renamed to poached eggs with bland yoghurt and avocado purée, or the entire dish needs a recipe overhaul. There were no spices whatsoever in the dish, and it's a bit of an offense to call them Turkish eggs.

Damn strong coffee. I loved it. The blend tasted like middle eastern coffee with high bitterness and the distinctive aroma of Turkish coffee. Also the view is superb😀

If u are looking for a place to sip a coffee and work, I highly recommend it, decent wifi, and the coffee is pretty strong, nice combo! The food is good as well and the staff is super friendly!

underwhelming to say the least. very unfriendly apathetic servers and the avocado smash I ordered with feta was just sad, no flavour and don't put a dish on the menu if the feature ingredients aren't up to scratch/out of season (*avocado, tomato*). not worth $28. coffee was bitter and watery. disappointing because been here before over the years with such a nice experience and was really looking forward to it again.

One of the best breakfasts in town. Delicious coffee and cozy comfortable ambience. Food so good we ate before remembering to take photos. Consistently good over the years of visiting here. The beans and mushrooms on the big brekkie were sensational.

This burger joint offers two vegan burgers. I tried the falafel one. First of all it's massive, who needs fries when you can have more burger? The falafel and hummus along with the other things they put in really work well together and deliver good taste and amazing texture. Falafel burgers are a little dry, so they haven't really discovered the cure for that, but I wouldn't hesitate to try this again, or see how they did with their other option, an impossible patty burger I decided to forgo the indoor seating and take this burger to one of the nearby walks. perfect picnic material (as long as you remember to take your rubbish with you)

We had the lamb and cheese burger which was great. The cajun fries were dry though. Beers were good. Service was fast, pleasant and prompt.

We’re a family that appreciates a good burger, and Red Star Burger truly delivered. We tried the Cheeseburger, Dirty Burger, and Blue Cheese Burger — each one packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. After being underwhelmed by the hype of Fergburger in Queenstown, Red Star was a refreshing surprise. Easily one of the tastiest burger spots we’ve tried in New Zealand!

2024→This BBQ burger was the best burger I've ever had. The flavor was perfect. And it was great value for money. 2025→ Revisited from Japan for the first time in a year. I was looking forward to the BBQ burger, but I was surprised to eat it because the contents were different. The jalapeño was so spicy that it didn't suit my taste... It's a pity that I've been looking forward to it for a year.

They have really good lamb burgers and the fries were perfectly cooked with the right amount of salt! We got the blue cheese sauce with fries - perfect combo, really hits the spot 👌 Everything was fresh and very generous portions. Staff were friendly, nice dining area too - staff were continuously cleaning! Great place to grab a bite! Would definitely recommend, 100 star review ✨️

OMG the Buddha Bowl with lamb. I cannot begin to express in a simple review how delightful the Buddha bowl is. When you add the chermoula sauce to the top, it’s a flavor explosion. I had this while staying in town and then a few days later drove an hour out of my way to have it again! The owner of the shop was working and you can tell she has a passion for what she does, it’s evident in the flavors in the bowl. I could continue to wax poetic about the freshness that is the Buddha bowl, but you should just go get one

Awesome smoothie bowl (snickers) - so tasty, lovely presentation and great selection of toppings. They offered the addition of pea protein but I’m not a fan of the taste! Offering a vanilla whey protein in addition to the vegan option would be great. Unfortunately I wasn’t a fan of the coffee. I ordered a small flat white and it was bitter, watery and way too hot. The milk hadn’t been textured properly. As I was wasn’t going to drink mine, I asked for a fresh coffee as thought maybe mine had just come out wrong / a different person made it. The lady next to me had what looked like a great coffee! The second was better, but still not that great (watery and bitter - possibly over extracted?) It’s a food truck type set up next to a car park, but they’ve done a nice job of the seating area.

We had the Buddha bowls, one with salmon and one with chicken. Such great quality and very healthy! All the sauces are incredible. Had the snickers bowl to split as a dessert. So good and so full. Came back to get the açaí bowl the next day. Also incredible. Great job team!

Evelyn is so lovely! I needed a big order of their beautiful fresh pressed juices with very little notice, and she went out of her way to accomodate - even giving me her personal number. Service like that goes such a long way and I'll definitely be back.

Buddha bowl tasted healthy and wholesome but the combination of ingredients felt a little too raw, might be nicer to match with a little more flavorful toppings. Opted for the regular size but disappointed to see that there’s no portion change in the protein as compared to a baby Buddha bowl (only rice and a few extra toppings), so the price point was expensive for the portion and value. Loved the energy and service of the staff (or owner)!

Fulfilling bowls! It is pricey, but you can tell they are using the best quality products and one of their smoothie bowls fills you pretty well. Had the snickers one and tried the salmon salad from my friend. We were a bit disappointed with the size, but it was really tasty regardless

Love this place so much! Great, healthy food, lots of vegan options and such a friendly vibe! The açaí bowls, the Buddha bowls, the coffee, the raw desserts — everything is so yum! Loved chatting with Vinnie who is awesome!

Wanaka Bullock Bar is a great local spot. The prices are very reasonable especially for the quality and portion sizes — you definitely won't leave hungry. One of the standout features is their wide range of beers on tap. Overall a laid-back place with good food and beer selection and even better prices, the Bullock Bar is well worth a visit.

Price was too expensive, food were not good, portions were OK and service was slow. The only good thing was that the waitress was pretty nice.

Order fish and chips or salmon at the bar with an IPA and watch the locals gamble and enjoy rugby on TV.

As a part of my Sperm Donation World tour of New Zealand I found myself here on a Friday night, Nice friendly vibe pub in Wanaka.

Cosy Bar… Great Cocktails… Delicious Food… Late night fun! We decided to have a night cap late in the evening and this place came highly recommended. We arrived around 10pm and were happy to find we could still order food…. AND great cocktails. We made our way through to the back bar which was exactly what we were looking for. Chilled and moody. The bar snacks were very substantial and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the cheese platter which was around $25. Some great chutney and quince paste, a few different cheeses, nuts, grapes and plenty of crackers. The baked Camembert too was soooo delicious! Drizzled with sticky honey and topped with walnuts. Served with crunchy toasted triangles. Gooey and warm inside and so yummy! The cocktails were really unique and flavourful, showcasing local ingredients. Some great beers on tap. The bar itself was really cosy, dark and intimate with moody lighting and comfy padded booths. Bottles of wine lined the walls at the back and the atmosphere was great. The front area on entering was a different vibe. Live music was playing and the room was thick with social merriment and a great beat. Whatever you’re looking for in a late night beverage this bar has it. Definitely worth a visit.

Me and my friend spent a few days in wanaka on a fishing trip. Came in here after a day on the lake for a few drinks, had the best night being served by matty and courtney. They recommended and made the most amazing mix of classic and craft cocktails. Matty even recommended some great spots for the salmon and trout in the morning! Will definitely be back. 👍🏼

Great venue, super popular with locals and tourists, they put on a seasonal menu for cocktails too which has been great, Cafe Banana should be served in pints.

One of the best bar in Wanaka. Was asking about the bar to go in my holiday park and they strongly recommended here, so I did and I'm glad that I went. Good vibes inside and the staff is friendly. Meet a bartender from UK and he was super friendly and tell me about the info about the Wanaka. The drinks is good and the price is standard. Around 10NZD per pint. Good vibes, friendly staff. Nice place to grab a quiet drink. Funky little place, with three booths (small, medium, and large) and lots of table & stools options. Lots of wine options available, lots of spirits to choose from, and limited beers on tap.

Loved this place, had coffee and cake and really enjoyed both. We then bought quiches and 2 delicious salads for a dinner back at our motel and it was a great meal. The staff were lovely and the quality of the food was first rate. Highly recommend and will definitely come again when next in gorgeous Wanaka.

Highly recommend this cafe. While it’s a little pricey, it’s worth it if you can afford. It’s a little odd to find as it’s in an alleyway pretty much but incredible food, great coffee. Their takeaway coffee cups are “rentable” to promote reusable cups. You can keep it or return it for $4. I had the Reuben Sando, best sandwich I’ve had in a very long time. I also got a latte and a cheese scone. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. There is outdoor and indoor seating though we got takeaway. A lovely cafe. Would recommend and will come back if I get the chance!

What a lovely and pleasant place. I tried three salads with medium size, and everything was great!! Their takeaway cup is reusable metal cup, and it is nice to keep. If I go back to Wanaka, I will definitely go this place again.

Hidden gem down a little alley, but what a great find. Food was delicious, matcha latte was perfect. Pastries and coffee were spot on. Will definitely be coming back to this place as it's my favourite cafe in Wanaka. Looks like a lot of the locals like coming here.

Loved the delicious coffee and snacks (particularly the beef brisket sandwich). We stayed in wanaka for 3 nights and came here every day!

Enjoyable tucked away coffee shop down an alley, with a shared spacious outside seating area with umbrellas, and a small countertop like space indoors with high seats. Had a mocha here, there is one spot with plugs outside that I found if that is of importance. Bathrooms are across from their front entrance. They seem to have quite nice other dishes and treats but I did not try them. Oh the coffee also came with a biscotti!

Really great take out place in Wanaka! Stumbled upon it when looking for a salad! I got the amazing spicy slaw with pepper, and added chicken! The price was fair for nice fresh ingredients and I loved the eco-friendly atmosphere! The desserts looked amazing I am kicking myself for not getting one :)

We tried the $58 tasting menu, which included one starter, two tacos, a main dish with a side, and dessert. The food was good but not exceptional, and while the portions were well-balanced, the flavors didn’t quite stand out as much as we had hoped. One downside is the limited vegetarian options—the menu doesn’t offer much variety for non-meat eaters, yet the price remains the same whether you choose meat, fish, or vegetarian dishes, which feels a bit unfair. The ambiance was pleasant, but our table by the wall felt a bit cramped with not much space around us. That said, the service was excellent, and our waitress was absolutely lovely, making the experience more enjoyable. Overall, it’s a nice spot with a good atmosphere and great service, but the menu could use a bit more flexibility, especially for vegetarians.

My favourite dining in Wanaka - really liked the vibe and the food was awesome. Do yourself a favour and book here - get the Pick & Mix menu choose your taco and dishes - pay extra for the lamb neck and sip on an awesome margarita before you get to your lamb with a glass of Pinot. Yum 😋 This place is good. Thanks to the team for a great experience !!

What an amazing place. They managed to squeeze us in for dinner for two at the last minute and were happy enough to find us an outside table. Staff were friendly, informative and helpful from the start with information of cocktails and preferences on food choices when we asked. Cocktails and food tasted amazing! Shout out to Carlos the taco chef for staying later and allowing us to taste extra tacos! Overall a fantastic evening! Would 100% recommend!

Came by on a different day when it was fully booked but that didn’t deter us. Made a booking this time for a Friday (definitely needed from 7pm). Went for the shared pick and mix platter which didn’t disappoint. From the entree to the dessert, each dish embodied its own flavour. For individual dishes, we’d recommend the grilled octopus entree which came with picked fennel and fresh aioli, the beef cheek tacos, the patatas bravas and the chicken with romesco. The churros were slightly bland but the chocolate dip made up for it. Would definitely come back with an even emptier stomach.

We really enjoyed our meal at Paloma! The vibe and decor is fun and each of the dishes and drinks were tasty. The $49 pick and mix is great value! We ordered the chips/guacamole, beef/pork taco, steak, salad and Basque cheesecake. Only slight let down, although it didn't bother us, were a few mixups with the service (food/drinks going to the table next to us and vice versa). Not a worry as the staff were all lovely and genuine. 4.5

Tacos were delicious! Guacamole and tortillas super tasty and crunchy, hubby ordered the meat and loved it, my teenager didn’t like it much as it was too medium-rare for her liking. Churros yummy for dessert. Unfortunately and at no fault of this place, that night was incredibly noisy with two groups of people that made it impossible to have a conversation between us, so we ate and left. It is a small restaurant with amazing music and delicious food, definitely will be coming back!

Food was good, with fresh fish and tasty vegetables: the ceviche was great as well as the fried polenta. The tacos selection was well-assorted but some of them (the fish one) a bit tasteless. We had one mocktail which was really tasty too. The lady at the entrance wasn’t a ray of sunshine. The restaurant is quite cozy with cool colors and an amazing liquors wall.

Nice brewery pub. Sadly serving "nz pints" that's way smaller than a pint. But good atmosphere. Has their own kombucha

Don't get me wrong its a great place for a beer. Just don't go there hungry, portion sizes are small for the price. It maybe ok if your from the US or Europe as the exchange rate will help you out and lets face it thats probably what they're counting on. However if your a local it stings, your better of heading out to the Cardrona pub for better value.

Loved it here. Beer especially pils was so great. I tried poutine and it was nice. Not too salty but cheesy and savory. And the bartender! She was so nice and friendly. Definitely come back here again while in Wanaka.

Lively atmosphere & calming, natural interior! A great spot to socialise and while away the day over good food and great beer. We got the Social Experiment (delicious!) and Liquid Sunshine, which were excellent! Highly recommend the kimchi loaded fries. Good vegetarian options but not any vegan options.

Perfect. All other places in town were closed, queued out or without class. This bar was no easy to find but worth the welcome.

Meals and service was excellent, with great knowledge of the wines and local area. We had the 1 KG wagu tomahawk steak and wagu hot stone. All the vegetables ( carrots, brocoli and duck fat potatoes were succulent and full of flavour just the same as the steak. Cooked to perfection. Only downfall was the lack of music with the room half full of people it was a bit interesting trying to have a conversation over everyone else's. Would come back again for sure!

An amazing find in the heart of Wānaka’s lake front culinary hub! The upstairs restaurant offers a cosy setting with views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Overall this was a good night's dining experience. We tried lots of different cocktails and they were mostly winners. The prawns were the stand out dish. The salt and pepper squid was nice but too salty for me unfortunately. The staff were flawless and very attentive.

Restaurant was recommended and certainly lived up to the hype. We had the slow-cooked lamp rump for two, and it was delicious. Two sides, and we shared the cheesecake. Service was excellent.

Absolutely incredible dining experience, we had the outmost attentive staff, little to no accomodation for our celebration of the successes of our business & engagement, however the overall experience and the quality of food is FLAWLESS!!! We spent $240 (including tip) and well worth it! The staff were very lovely - one was training we believe, she wasn't very confident this still very lovely. The bathrooms were tidy & well cared for! This place is defijitely worth the visit, we somewhat agree about slight music although the possibility of making the restaurant more loud may have made it more difficult to hear, we had absolutely no issues with anything! I have jad alot of venison in my lifetime and this place perfected my favourite meat!!!! We will be back during our honeymoon!!!!! Thankyou again for a wonderful evening!!!!

We love a good steak, we ordered the ribs eye and a sirloin, both arrived barely warm and clearly not freshly cooked it’s one of the worst steaks I’ve been served. Almost cold, no taste, definitely no grill flavour or smell. The Brussel sprouts side were so overcooked they were barely recognisable!!! Service was lovely, we complained, the waitress was so sweet, however no management or chef came out to appease us. Also what steak house does not have hot English mustard ?! This was the first we’ve come across. Very very disappointing Tititea.

Beautiful views and nice location. That’s it! We went there in 31st December to have dinner. They had set menu at $70 each. We went with vegetation options. And would not recommend any of the dishes. They were heavy, creamy and too little in quantity. We also had 2 drinks which were ok. The dessert was horrible to say the least. It lacked taste and we couldn’t eat more than 2 bites. Wouldn’t recommend them. Sorry!

We were looking for a good lunch spot with a great view over Lake Wanaka. Bombay Palace surely offered a great view on the second floor overlooking the lake. They have a big menu full of Indian food. The food itself was ok, not overwhelmingly good. The portions were also rather small, for the price.

We had the vegetarian starter platter. Delicious! And then the Kadhai Paneer and Paneer Butter Masala. Both were really good but the Kadhai Paneer really stood out as special. Medium spicy was good, not too spicy at all, could have done a step higher.

Fantastic Indian food in a fantastic location. Family dinner for 7. Kids had the Butter Chicken kids meal which they loved (includes curry, rice & naan). Fried Chicken, Tandor Lamb cutlets, Chicken Tikka and a Chicken Tikka Masala curry. Also shared Puri starter. Food was amazing and we would highly recommend the entire experience. Big portions (we bought a full meal home with us).

The butter chicken curry was very underwhelming. It didn’t taste like any butter chicken I’ve had before. Instead of a rich, buttery tomato flavor, it seemed heavy on curry powder or some other spice. I wouldn’t spend money on it again. The garlic naan was a decent size but lacked both flavour and garlic. Overall, I was quite disappointed and will be going back to Spice Room in the future.

Absolutely beautiful food and service. The best indian food I've ever had.

I was pleasantly surprised to have authentic indian food in Wanaka. They accommodated our family of 6 at the very last minute and their service was always with a smile on - the cherry on the top was great view of the lake and a large variety of Indian single malts..!! We need more quality restaurants like this in ANZ.

Rating the farm and cafe as a whole, since we didn’t get to visit when the lavender was in season. 🫖 we sat down for a cup of purple tea, which happened to be the blend that sold out in the souvenir shop itself - but actually wasn’t the best i have had, though it still has a good tone of lavender to it 🍨 the ice cream was served in a cup which kinda surprised us as we expected a cone and was mainly lavender not chocolate - but well, how we feel are mainly based off expectations right? That said, the ice cream tasted mainly of chocolate so it wasn’t great either. Scone was affordable for the size, a little oily and slightly herbalicious, for those who enjoy that. 🌷 the lavender as mentioned wasn’t in season hence we couldn’t review that, but we do see patches and patches of those and imagined it would look amazing when it’s in full bloom and when there’s blue skies! The few cherry blossom trees around the farm was a welcoming sight though 🌸 🦙🐴 the alpacas and ponies are way too adorable, and was probably the highlight of our trip here, definitely one that is available all season long! Based on our trip here, we would probably not return if it’s not in season since the cafe didn’t have anything that we enjoy, but would see the lavender patches very worthwhile to come by and soak in (edited an image to show its potential)!

We visited the Lavender Farm on 15 October and there were some flowers blooming but no lavender. The shop had alot of variety but the packaging was quite minimalistic. The lavender ice cream was premade in a tub and not a soft cone. We ordered the manuka and lavender ice cream but there was no lavender taste so I don't recommend it. It tasted like a honey ice cream.

Visited the farm in the off season and it was still a pleasure and a delight. Make sure you get some ice cream before strolling the grounds. I bought tons of lovely farm-made lavender products before my departure.

Very cool and well maintained facility. Be sure to visit during summer to make the most of it Not much to see during winter but they have farm animals that you can hand-feed (alpacas & sheep), still a nice place to visit and spend an hour or two. Be sure to also check and test their selection of lavender teas

Very lovely open acreage of lavender fields. They weren’t in season during our visit however it was still lovely to stroll around and see the animals. Very cute shop inside too with some lovely products.

This was the highlight of my NZ holiday. The most beautiful warm welcoming from staff, exceptional value. The BEST hot chocolate I have ever had (must try the lavender hot chocolate) and the ice creams were nothing short of phenomenal. The animals were soo beautiful and funny especially the alpacas, the tall white one has a LOT to say and I will think of him every day until I return to chat again. The lavender farms are incredible even in winter when not in bloom so I can’t wait to return in summer and see them in their full glory. The shop is filled with beautiful handmade organic lavender products, the muscle and ache cream, silk hand lotion and lavender sleep balm are incredible and I will be purchasing these online when I finish them. Thankyou so much for an incredible memory Wanaka lavedner farm.

Must visit! I was with my husband and 2 young kids during autumn. It was low season and entry tickets were cheap, $7 adult $3.50 children. I imagine it would be extremely beautiful during summer/spring when the lavenders are in full bloom. We spent about 2hours there. Many beautiful spots for pictures. Farm animals there too and my kids had so much fun feeding the alpacas. I also bought a bottle of gardener hand cream from them. The scent is heavenly if you like lavender. Doesn't absorb quickly but once it does, the moisturising power stays! Highly recommended spot.

Nicely fried cauliflower bites, tasty but could be better if flavoured slightly. Spring rolls were good, chips were unfortunately too crispy and fried - maybe the end of the batch? They weren't fluffy at all, which is a shame as previous batches we've got have been nicer.

The worst Fish n Chips I have ever had in NZ. $30 later, soggy uncooked chips, $3.50 "bluff" oysters that tasted awful, and we're about the quarter of the size of a true bluff oyster. Avoid this place, take a 5min drive to Albert Town F&C shop. Far superior. Since I cannot reply to the message below, I have this to say; I know how bluff oysters are cooked and also the size, given I lived in Bluff for 4 years and ate them regularly. Thanks for the oyster lesson anyway! To those travelling to Wanaka, I cannot emphasis further to not go to this place. I have posted a photo below of Fish'nChips from a true shop in Lincoln, ChCh. $16 later, half the price of the rubbish I received from Erik's. If in Wanaka, go to Albert Town fish and chips. 10min drive, and worth every minute of it! What a scam!!!

We had a big expectation about this place, as everyone told us we have to tried it. And it was pretty good, with homemade chips and sauces.

This is not first time to have Erick’s fish and chips which would be the most famous fish and chips around this area. I had a Hoki and chips this time but unfortunately the batter was very floury and taste less and the fish was like frozen fish. The chips was alright. This is second time for me of disappointed their fish and chips. But nice and friendly staffs.

Fish is cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender succulent fish on the inside. The deep fried kiwi is a must try if you're visiting, tastes much like an apple pie with a slightly sour twist!

$10.50 for this fish? Really Erik? batter was rubbery, so disappointed. Thought I was going to get some lovely fresh fish (decent size) crispy batter and fresh chips.

Picked because of the high reviews and was not disappointed, definitely worthy of 4.9! Service was great and prompt, and the food was incredible and flavoursome. Love the Asian flavours in a visually more western plating it’s a nice surprise and nothing was bland or too simple, a great kick. The staff recommended around 4 small plates and 2 big which was a perfect recommendation for the 4 of us. Would come again, best dinner on the trip!

Wow what a find, can’t believe we haven’t been here before. We visit Wanaka at least once a year and visited Muttonbirds with friends. We opted for the $85 set menu and were very glad we did as the food was spectacular and plentiful! A set menu is normally quality or quantity but Muttonbirds gives you both. The bite sized snacks are a great start incl the coffee butter. Who knew these would go so well together. The small plates are delicious and inventive. Combining the tenderness of raw kingfish with the crunchiness of in season sliced persimmons in a citrus base was sublime. Sticking with the raw theme was the beef tartare that was sliced rather than minced as per traditional method. And don’t get me started on how amazing the lamb neck was. Surprisingly it holds a lot of meat and as expected from a fine establishment, it fell off the bone from a mere touch of the knife. Additional sides were added along with a pan fried fish that came in the pan. All topped off with two wonderful desserts and fabulous attentive service. This has gone straight to the top of our list of restaurants for any return visits to this marvellous slice of NZ!

The stunning tiling, warm lighting and exciting atmosphere, I always really enjoy coming to Muttonbird. The food is fresh and serving sizes are generous. Chef George has outdone himself once again.

Absolutely loved it! As a vegetarian, I was blown away by the Trust the Chef menu — unpretentious food packed with big flavours, colour, and texture. Every dish felt fresh and creative, and the sauces were so good you could honestly eat them on their own. It’s classy but relaxed, and really well priced — don’t wait for a special occasion to come here.

A fusion restaurant offering intriguing modern takes on Asian dishes using local ingredients. We quite enjoyed the lamb neck and clams, with great texture and flavour. The toast in the clams however was a little stale. Service was friendly and helpful overall, albeit slow an hour and a bit before closing time.

The food was delicious, we didn’t have anything fried, just decided to go for fresh and steamed. We had the salmon and king fish sashimi, the beef tartare, pork dumplings and edamame. Everything was yummy! I also got the cocktail, The Roots Rendezvous I think and it was absolutely amazing! I’ll be coming back!

5 stars for everything ✨️ This is an Asian fusion restaurant and designed to share plates. I ordered the edamame, seasonal stir fried vegetables, pork and prawn dumplings, pork belly skewers and the lamb noodles. I was really happy with every dish but my highlights were the noodles and pork skewers. The lamb was perfectly cooked with the right amount of seasoning and spices. The noodles were wide and cooked well. The pork was juicy, charred and well seasoned. I really liked everything and wish I had this restaurant back home. Also, I liked how the chefs were bantering in the kitchen it shows passion, harmony and a good spirit.

If you are looking for Asian fusion, we highly recommend FuDog. Outstanding dishes include the watermelon 🍉 kimchi. It was properly spicy! The 🍄 habachi grilled mushrooms 🍄 were amazing and grilled to perfection. The sesame crusted tofu was yum too! Worthy of a mention were the lamb ribs and hand made noodles. Disappointed with the clams - felt the mushrooms and sauce detracted from the taste and it didn't have many anyway. Service was good and fairly attentive and it's always great to see a selection of beers on tap!

Food was sooooo good! The duck wontons and dumplings are so juicy! The wok noodles had that perfect smoke from the wok.

My favourite restaurant in the South Island by far! The food is 10/10 & the service is superb. The Monglian beef with rice is one of my favourite dishes in nz. 10/10 recommend!

Nice sushi spot for a quick work lunch, was craving sushi since we moved here in May and I'm glad I found this spot. This will be my go to for sushi from now on. Will try other items on the menu next time too. Super friendly service. Love that there are cooked to order options as well.

Wish we’d found this sooner. I assumed it would be quite expensive but it was very reasonable and the food was incredible - really fresh, delicious and just a little bit different. The staff were lovely too. We’ll definitely need to return next time we’re in Wanaka.

The stir fried udon with the oyster sauce here is really amazing! It does come with the wok hei flavor and the sauce is really umami! The sushi here are great as well. The staff here are friendly and they would also recommend their favorite dish that suits your liking and taste. One of the best Asian dish in town and I will definitely come back again for this. Highly recommend!

This place is so cute. Stopped in a few months ago for a coffee, the staff are very friendly and like having a little chat. The coffee is good and despite being in a small mall complex the atmosphere is very nice!

Dropped into Maude today unannounced for a tasting. When asked by Lewis if we had a booking, I said I didn’t realise we needed one. He was a most gracious, generous and convivial host. It’s thanks to passionate people like Lewis that this tasting will stay in our memories! We had booked a tasting slot and were warmly welcomed by Lewis. The hospitality was excellent — we comfortably waited in the restaurant before starting. The tasting began with their sparkling wine, often referred to as their “house champagne,” and ended beautifully with the rosé. The wines were presented with great clarity, the terroir is outstanding, and Lewis explained everything brilliantly. He answered all our questions with ease, shared figures, stories, and technical insights — he truly knows his craft. Professional, cheerful, witty, and full of energy, he created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout. A true enthusiast whom I sincerely thank for his positivity, and I wish him all the best in his future adventures!

Fantastic winer tasting experience with a fantastic view! Our wine expert Lewis was a perfect combination of funny and relaxed, while also being extremely knowledgeable and professional. The whole tasting really gave off the atmosphere of a family run winery and would highly recommend this to anyone. I would also recommend going to the winery before your tasting or sticking around afterwards, as the outdoor seating offers incredible views over lake Wanaka. Thank you again Maude Winery!

Amazing tasting experience! Lewis and the whole team were phenomenal and super knowledgeable. The wines were so great and so unique to the Otago region - sitting on their terrace having a glass of wine looking over the mountains and lake was a highlight. Couldn’t recommend more!

Just been to Maude Wine Tasting Rooms and I couldn’t recommend this experience enough. Myself and my partner were looked after by Lewis. From the outset he was friendly, warm, welcoming and down to earth! His knowledge of the wines, the processes and flavours was delivered in a way that a normal person can actually understand- I left feeling more knowledgeable about the wines. Other places I’ve been too, I’ve felt rushed or made feel a bit silly because I’m not ‘wine buff’ enough! The views, location and overall experience was 10/10. You won’t regret coming here, sampling all the gorgeous wines and receiving a top class service.

The best new restaurant to hit Wanaka in years. This place is worth the visit. To start with the menu is flawless and caters to the food lover and has great vegetarian options. The bar is a delight to look at and is full of an extensive range of wine, spirits and beer. With a few classics on tap! We had the garden based charcuterie board and we were more than impressed with the flavours, execution and presentation. We had a lovely and refreshingly authentic waitress that was so helpful with guiding us through the evening. We are well impressed and definitely recommend an evening to experience the delights of Lipsky and Sons. Thank you to the staff and owners!! We can't wait to go back!!

WOW! If you are wanting a world class dining experience - this is it! The menu was perfection, the dishes were generous and packed with flavour and the service and knowledge from the staff was like nothing we had ever experienced before. Having Ben (our host) do our wine pairing with each meal was such a treat! The humble and talented chef - Lueno even came out to greet all his guests! Lipsky and Sons has set an incredibly high standard for our future dining experiences. 10/10!!!

A fabulous night in every way from the company and friendship to Ben,the welcome, Lindsay the waitress, the bar staff, Lueno the chef and the food of course was beautifully balanced flavors and perfectly cooked. The scallops were amazing the steak of my husband's to the Expresso Martini yummy- in fact everything in terms of food, service and relaxed but inviting ambience was first class. Congrats on your total offering, Leuno for coming out to greet me and to each and everyone in making it a magic night.

Lipsky is a real treat. The staff are absolutely wonderful and professional, the atmosphere is classy yet relaxed. The baked Camembert “fondue” is an absolute standout and I will never not order it. Another dish I couldn’t get enough of was the kumara and cauliflower gratin: so divine and a side that complements literally everything. We were too full for dessert this time, but next time we’ll definitely be making sure we’ve got enough space. Can’t wait!

Excellent staff, nice local beer and wine. The Scotch fillet great, as was the fillet. The t- bone seemed a bit tough. Veges were extra but very good. Overall expensive but worth it for a special night out.

Took our orders without even writing them down, (Drinks and mains) then he took orders from both table's beside us AND remembered absolutely EVERYTHING!! The food was outstanding and full of flavor. We had an outstanding visit to Wanaka Beerworks, largely thanks to Joel and his team mates. His expertise in beers was impressive—he guided us through their diverse selection with great insight and enthusiasm, making it easy to find a brew that I truly enjoyed. What set the experience apart was Joel's engaging conversation about both beer and skiing.

Very friendly staff and the tour was great value (and came with quite a bit to drink). Their peach cider is excellent!

Managed to stop past just in time for the daily tour which was super informative and helped explain some of the concepts of brewing to my wife and I. The beers are also great and they give discounts to those who do the tour which I really appreciated. The Black Head was AWESOME and I was lucky enough to get to have a fee samples as my wife and others didn't enjoy them!

Interesting insights of beer making and provided tastings of the different products offered at a reasonable price. Worth the try, and also it is right next to interesting activities such as toy museum and crossfire rifle shooting, making it a great place for day trip in wanaka

The tour and tasting was great. The tasting room worker really knew his stuff and went through all the beers with us. I went last yes as well, but seems to be new staff who are passionate and knowledgeable. Would maybe come back, but feels like a one time thing. I'll definitely keep drinking the beer!

Definitely stop in at Scroggin if you’re in the area! 🍴 The food was a real standout — I had the one hander and the banana bread, and both were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were warm and welcoming, which really added to the relaxed, friendly vibe of the place. All in all, a great spot with tasty food and good energy. Had breakfast here two days in a row. Inventive breakfast and brunch options backed by good drinks and equally good pastries. It’s a very popular cafe so can take about 20 minutes to get food after ordering, but they are very accommodating with take away options.

Review is based solely on their cookies and mocha, since we didn’t try their other offerings - and we thought it was a pretty unique cookie to say the least! 🍪 the sea salt chocolate cookie was pretty much a “cakey-though-tough” cookie, not the crispy nor soft ones that we are used to - which brings about a unique texture, not to mention the generous amount of chocolate chips found within the cookie itself! Worth the $8 for a try. ☕ the mocha wasn’t to our liking, and seeing how much we enjoyed the flat white at their sister cafe (Crumb), we would opt to stick with their flat white in future! Definitely a cafe worth visiting for their bakes and coffee!

Stopped in at Scroggin on a chilly Friday morning and couldn’t have picked a better spot to warm up. I ordered the potato & leek soup and a hot chocolate—and wow, both were next-level! The soup was rich, hearty, and full of comforting flavour—truly the kind that makes you sit back and enjoy every sip. The hot chocolate was gorgeous, but the real highlight? A giant, homemade marshmallow perched on top—soft, fluffy, and totally worth mentioning! The vibe was cozy, staff super friendly, and everything tasted homemade with care. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Scroggin is 100% worth a stop.

The Scroggin Benedict was incredibly delicious! My tastes bud were dancing. The mushroom cacao mug was unique and divine - tastes like a merge of chai latte and hot choc! Don’t even get me started on the chocolate banana bread loaf - it was scrumptious! Highly recommend this place!

Really great brunch place, the best in Wanaka in my opinion. Modern and beautiful fit out but also quality food that’s not just pretty. Minimal service as its QR code or counter order, as well as finding your own table, but I guess that’s the best approach for somewhere so popular and busy. Wait was short, every food was tasty and coffee was fine.

A hidden gem in Oakridge resort. We were the only customer on a Friday night so we weren't expecting much but we were so surprised when the food arrived. Not only the food was nicely presented, they were delicious and tasty. The chips in the kids fish and chips were the best chips we had ever tasted. Highly recommended.

This was the only disappointing meal we had during 2 weeks in NZ. The twice cooked pork was dry and not crispy crackling. For the price paid the quality of meals was lacking. As Accor Club Members we were not impressed as they are competing with excellent local restaurants in Wanaka that are better meals and prices.

Great service! Bartenders were excellent. Got the pumpkin salad which was delicious. The pizza was pretty decent as well.

Best breakfast in Wanaka. You can't beat the Weekend Big Breakfast deal! World famous in Wanaka! Great service, great vibes and a great team. Eat next to the huge outdoor fire and enjoy great coffee or, if the sun is over the yard arm then something from the bar!

The food is AMAZING when you can get it, but as Wanaka's ONLY later night food option the availabilty sucks. I understand the town is in a crisis with stafing but as the only late night available food option from Thursdat to Saturday, you would do well to embrase it and not shut late night hungry people down.

Wow, that absolute best fries ever with that chilli bite. I would have mixed it with the sauce provided and aioli. Then it would have been perfect. I am so pleased to find a light bite like this after a busy day. I'm definitely coming back. Fingers crossed, Rove is still here then.

By far the best restaurant/pub in Wanaka! We had been walking in 30° with our dog, after our car had broke down, and we stumbled across the Rove. We were welcomed in and our dog was automatically brought water! The staff were super friendly and our food and drinks were brought to us straight away. A lot cheaper an a more chill environment as opposed to the places down by the waterfront. 10/10 recommend!

LOVED IT!!! no where was open at 9.30pm...all kitchens everywhere was shut but when I called speights Ale house to check if they were still open, a lovely man told me about Rove and highly recommended it. Food was quick and hot. I rang and ordered ahead. The guy on the phone was cool as, really friendly and accommodating - giving me his recommendations etc. Will be back for sure! Thanks Rove team!! 😊

While the food is good, the service is terrible, the girl behind the bar is rude and looked intoxicated. it took nearly an hour to get our food, they were not busy as we watched and waited to the point we asked to be refunded, on reviewing our order looks like we were also overcharged. $21 for just a burger?

Oh my god, I’m obsessed with this place !!! Found it by accident on maps as we got to Wanaka and it was the best experience. We loved the sofas and comfy vibes and adored the baked cookies in the interval! It was soooo worth it and think you should defo go!!

I absolutely loved this cinema! Apart from the cool part of having a sofa instead a regular seat(don’t worry normal seat also available) I love the fact that you can order food or sweets ahead and it will be ready for your break! But the great thing of all is the fact that they have options for vegans from starters to the famous warm and delicious cookies!

The way movies should be! With an intermission break (5-10mins) halfway thru the movie. So you are able to get a freshly baked cookie (still warm), another cheeky glass of wine/ beer, or a quick pit stop to the bathroom before going back to watch the remainder of your movie. Great atmosphere, with great seating options available in three cinemas on-site. Cinema 1 & 2 are the larger cinemas, while cinema 3 is more cosier. Lounge options, bean bags, sitting within a car in cinema 1 or 2. Food is lovely, cookies are super tasty and a huge variety of ice creams to choose from.

What a great Cinema, warm and cosy with three Cinemas. Lovely staff, a great size screen. A huge variety of seats to choose from, including seats inside of cars which really adds to this Cinemas charm. They even have a half time at this Cinema which is amazing as you can order food to be ready then, Mum and I had hot freshly baked cookies that were amazing. They serve the usual Cinema treats like popcorn, lollies and drinks, along with a variety of alcohol, pizza and other things. All in all a great Cinema well worth a visit

I love the old school charm of this place, it's so unique and well worth visiting with kids. The best part is the half time cookie - 10/10.

This is an excellent tap room! My partner and I love visiting tap rooms and we were both in agreement that this was our favourite one that we've visited over the years. We sampled the majority of their beers and loved every one of them, with Groove Train and Kiwi Pale being standouts. Their dark beers were also excellent. The whole vibe of the tap room was great, with good music played at an appropriate level and friendly and knowledgeable staff. We didn't try the food, but the menu looked varied and tasty.

Out of all the breweries I have so far visited in NZ this was the worst. Could not order food on a Saturday afternoon because it turns out the chef turns up whenever the hell they want to… which in my experience was not at all. This is probably why on a Saturday afternoon the place was empty. Go to R&R across the road instead, better atmosphere and you can actually order food which was amazing. The beers I had here were fantastic and I will always give credit where it is due but everything else was just an utter let down. I probably wouldn’t come back.

I have been to Ground Up a number of times , and I love the vibe! It is warm , cosy , and intimate. The food is delish , the selection of beers is huge, and there really is something for everyone. One of our favourite local spots! - if you pop in during winter , the mulled wine is a must have. - Livia

Really good little food truck that provides very quick service. The burgers were all fantastic. The liquid cheese sauce was definitely a highlight of the burgers. With the cheese sauce, the burgers weren't actually as messy as you may have expected. It's fantastic that you have different options for seasoned fries. We went with smokey fries, and they were delicious. The only thing holding it back from a 5 star for me was that I was a bit disappointed with the hot box. The chicken was overcooked, so coupled with a dry seasoning rub, it meant the chicken pieces were very dry. A thigh meat cooked for less time or a marinade may have been a better option. Another positive is the servings were generous and left you feeling full. The 4 piece hot box was probably enough for 2 people

We were drawn in by the buzz and the long line at this food truck, and their bold tagline, "fried chicken like no other." Eager to see if it lived up to the hype, we ordered the 2 Piece Hot Box with smokey fries, a classic combo for a first-timer. The first test was the wait. While the receipt promised a 20-minute turnaround, we found ourselves waited for about 40 minutes. It's a long time to stand around for a quick meal, even with the convenient benches right in front of the truck. The food 2/5: The chicken was tender, but kinda dry, and it lacked that juicy, flavorful kick you'd expect from a place known for its fried chicken. The smokey fries, however, were the star of the show. They were crispy, well-seasoned, and honestly, the best part of the meal. So, the big question: Was it worth the $18 price tag? Unfortunately, no. The long wait and mediocre dry chicken didn't justify the cost.

Tempted by the chicken wings when we reached here (and after some research), we headed for the ordering kiosk and ordered them as add ons for our meal: 🍗 chicken was fresh, tender, crispy and well seasoned 🍟 fries was too big in portion for 2, unless you both really love those - they are good though, especially when they are served hot Good add on for sure, definitely would have been keen to try their burgers if I wasn’t too sick of the fried food!

Firebird in Wanaka was absolutely incredible and definitely a must-visit for anyone craving amazing chicken! Everything was served hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The fired chicken was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. The wings were outstanding, packed with flavor, and the chicken strips were just as delicious, making every bite satisfying. Even the medium spice level gave a great kick—enough to excite your taste buds without being overwhelming, which I really appreciated. The smoked fries were a highlight on their own, with a rich, smoky flavor that complemented the chicken perfectly. The seasoning was spot on, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and carefully prepared. On top of the fantastic food, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience feel comfortable and relaxed. The atmosphere of the place was casual yet vibrant, perfect for a fun meal with friends or a casual dinner in town. Seating was abit difficult! But the crowd comes and go quickly!

So so so incredibly good. I’m a big Nashville hot chicken connoisseur from the US and didn’t expect to find hot chicken in NZ. I was so excited to find this place. The chicken was phenomenal. I got the hot, which wasn’t too hot, so next time I’d definitely try proper hot. The spicy fries with cheese were so good. If this place was in the US, I’d visit them so often. One of the best hot chickens I’ve had.

So impressed to find the best vegan chicken I’ve ever had. We had two burgers and shared smoky fries and it was all incredible. So much flavour, generous portions and honestly the best chicken substitute I’ve had anywhere. Would love to come back next time we’re in Wanaka!

Fried chicken takeaway, may take a bit longer for them to prepare (I waited for approximately 15 minutes). The chips are in large amount, think twice before you order if only 1-2 people are going to eat. The chicken is awesome!

What a fantastic experience! The place was really nice and had easy access with plenty of parking space. The food? Absolutely amazing! My personal favorites were the honey chicken and spicy chicken, both were super tasty and full of flavor. The crispy pork was also a delight, and the fish mala soup was spot on. The black pepper beef had tender meat that just melted in your mouth. Everything was perfect! To top it off, we somehow ran into a lot of fellow Indonesians here, likely because of the Lebaran holiday, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. They also offer free Wi-Fi, which is a great bonus. The kids absolutely loved it, too! Definitely coming back for more. Highly recommend this place!

We were seriously craving rice and something spicy (as all Asians would 😉), and their fried rice, poached fish in chili oil, and sweet & sour soup hit the spot beautifully.

Wasn’t expecting much, but this Chinese spot in the heart of Wanaka totally surprised me! Love the traditional round-table setup—it’s perfect for sharing. The soup was tasty, beef with ginger and sweet & sour pork hit the spot, and honestly, the portions were huge for two of us. Food came out super fast and the staff were friendly. Definitely coming back!

We had the salmon and King prawns which were good. Prices are quiet high for NZ but average for Wanaka. Food comes without rice but with vegetables. The restaurant is authentic and has a great view to the lake.

The proprietor of this establishment is a true entrepreneur, heralding from a lineage that traces back to his great-grandfather's arrival in Wanaka. Initially, we harbored skepticism about his motives, suspecting a mere upsell strategy. However, our apprehensions were quickly dispelled. The sea urchins he recommended were unparalleled, surpassing even those we savored in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Priced at NZD 50 per portion, they provide a lavish feast for two and are a culinary necessity for sea urchin aficionados. You will not be disappointed. The salmon sashimi was another standout, its origins mysterious but its flavor nothing short of exquisite. Although every dish garnered acclaim, the fried rice did unfortunately not meet the same high standard, ranking lowest on our list. Service was impeccable, led by the boss himself and supported by highly efficient waitresses. The restaurant's name, Lake View Seafood Restaurant, promises stunning vistas of Lake Wanaka, though our nocturnal visit precluded these views. Nonetheless, the culinary experience alone is worth the journey. Food comes out as share plates, my partner and i ordered 3 meal options and 2 pomegranate margaritas. The drinks tasted amazing but were $20 each and thought the size could have been a little bigger. Food was absolutely amazing, well cooked, tasted great and was definitely filling. Lovely indoor and outdoor area, and the service was great. Owner is super friendly and accommodating as well. Definitely recommend.

I've only been here twice, and last summer we really loved their Greek salad, chicken skewers, the almond dip (can't remember the name), zataar fries and hummus, this winter we just went for cocktails and apps which were also delicious. Everything's fresh and flavorful. The service was friendly, the place has a lovely bright and airy atmosphere, we love sitting outside on the solid wood tables under the umbrellas. The food there reminds me of my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in my old home town in Jackson Hole.

Loved the interior, very relaxing. What a great idea to have such a selection of wines on tap. The staff, food, experience was excellent. The best mediterranean restaurant we have experienced since our Europe days...(many years ago).

We chose the Sofis Choice which gave us a good mix of a few dishes. Food was delicious and generous in its portions. Staff were friendly and quick with the service.

We recently dined here and were blown away! We went with the Trust the Chef set menu, and it was an absolute treat — generous portions, a fantastic variety of dishes, and every plate full of flavour. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The service was just as impressive — warm, attentive, and friendly without being intrusive. We felt really well looked after from start to finish. If you’re after a memorable dining experience with both quality and quantity, this place is a winner. Highly recommend!

Loved the atmosphere, very buzzy and the service was excellent, very friendly. Was a little disappointed with the food unfortunately. Mediterranean food should be light and healthy but it felt heavy and too rich and creamy. I suggest ordering less than recommended as we ordered too much, and as it was so rich it left us feeling over full. Tuna tartare was our favourite, light and fresh.

Good place to spend some times while it’s raining outside. We could play dart for free !

Great little pub tucked away from the main drag, had some big nights here over the years. Always a friendly crowd.

Unbelievable place, i won the pool tournament with a voucher of 30$ to spend on drinks. After the first round (18$) i clamed the second one of 12$ value and the bartender started saying that someone else used our voucher and that only 7$ was left. Absolut lie, the bartender made that up. She has been playing with her phone all the time, so unprofessional, no attention on service. When i told her that it wasn't us using it and that anyway she was supposed to take the voucher from the claiming person she said that she didn't and that she is just a human who makes mistakes....well i guess i wrote enough. Horrible person the bartender, scammed pool tournament, avoid this garbage place.

The place ia great, it has a fireplace and lots of games to play like foosball, darts and a pool table. The beers were a good price. Bartenders could be nicer.

There is a female bouncer who has power trip fantasy and kicked our whole group out for playing pool comfortably with a beer. 1/10 if you want to have a good time don’t approach

Big shout to the team at Woodys for living up to your promise and showing the Richmond vs Fremantle game in a sea of Rugby fans. You went the extra yard to give great service and a few of the Kiwis learned a but about the game. And the Tigers won!

Nice bar, good outdoor area, and indoor with pool tables. But maybe too tiny.

Treehouse is a quirky little one-room open kitchen concept, and appears to be run by a chef and two staff on a Friday night. They seem unbothered by this and dishes and drinks are flying out to the largely elderly crowd. Live plants adorn the walls and provide cover, while the soft floor and surfaces absorb noise. It smells like rich food inside which is nice. The golden lighting is fairly dialed in, no dark corners. A short, wine heavy menu has a few items of great interest to me, I enjoyed the local Otago Negroni and the Paua (abalone) croquettes; both quite memorable. The bathrooms are spotless, always a good sign. I walked here so can't speak to parking but it seems minimal. A slightly off putting acidic regional natural wine was swiftly swapped out and the brief app and drink adventure came to a pleasant end. This neighborhood hideaway has promise and certainly deserves 5 stars in the current climate. I would happily return to Treehouse again with a party to eat the menu. Check it out when in Wanaka and decide for yourself. I would recommend a party of no more than four. The tourists seem to have not discovered the peculiar delights of Treehouse just yet.

A perfect combination of beautiful tastes and intrigue as we had to try and guess the wine flight with each delightful dish. What a thoroughly enjoyable evening!! Worth every penny! Didn't capture each dish and not showing the wines to keep the mystery.

I was a little concerned at first because it became quite crowded and there is only the one chef in the kitchen but our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was fantastic. The cod, asparagus and duck rilette were all very tasty. Definitely recommend eating here!

Absolutely exeptional dining experience - cannot fault The Treehouse. We had the chefs tasting menu and wine pairing and it was one of the most delicious meals that we've had all year. Every dish was complex and full of flavour, drawing on inspirations and cusines from all over the world. WOULD HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMEND... 100/10... 5 STARS... PERFECTION!

Food was very delicious, we got the "trust the chef" menu and I was so happy with all the food, amazing flavors. Although my partner was a little🤏🏻 bit hungry so you coud orden something extra if you get for the set menu. 10 of the 10 for the Margarita's.

Some of the worst food I’ve ever had. Previously went with a different menu and it was as amazing. Returned hoping for the same and the food was awful. Out of touch and trying too hard. The croquettes in particular were hard, clearly pre-made, and impacted flavors. They were overly fishy and the texture was completely off and raw in parts. We all had to smother the food in sauce to get through and felt unwell leaving. Wine and location are great so the food is a shame. Need to scale it back and make it more basic food. People don’t want this type of food. Go back to steaks, cheese, simple food. Bring back pork belly croquette.

We had the 'Trust the Chef' and all 5 dishes were absolutely delicious and unique. The service was impeccable with the Henry, the duty manager attentive, friendly but not overpowering. I would highly recommend this venue for a fabulous night out as a couple or group.

“Brews and Views” is this bars slogan, and they’re not wrong. The retail bar for a local brewery they offer a good selection of crafted beers. Also one international brand. Beer in NZ is expensive compared to the UK but accepting this, you get good value here as you’re getting small batch, hand crafted beer in a great location at the same cost as mass produced. Great balconies with marvellous views of lake.

All round good bar! Well priced and great local selection of beers. Nice outdoor space with umbrellas. Great way to spend a couple of hours in an evening.

Went in for a brew, but unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The person behind the bar was unfriendly and unhelpful when we asked for recommendations, which made us feel quite uncomfortable. On top of that, the beer we were served was flat. We ended up leaving shortly after.

Verve in Wanaka is a fantastic spot for wine lovers! They offer a great selection of regional wines by the glass, all thoughtfully chosen. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, making it a must-visit.

We had such an enjoyable dinner and drinks here! Food, drinks and staff were something that was such a highlight of our New Zealand holiday! Couldn’t recommend more! The owner Lucy was so lovely I wish I could have stayed longer just to be friends with her! What a spot!
